- 2:39Sunny Morning sent you. In local news, the Hull
- 2:44Police Department took steps to prepare for a
- 2:47potential large gathering at Nantasket Beach
- 2:49on Friday after social media posts were brought
- 2:53to their attention. And it was the story that
- 2:55interested NBC 10 Boston's readers the most last
- 2:58week. Another story capturing readers' attention
- 3:02was the tragic death of Hadley Hattie B. Boucher,
- 3:05a 7 -year -old Lunenburg girl whose courageous
- 3:08battle with cancer inspired the local community.
- 3:12Additionally, readers were following the latest
- 3:14details about a meteor that exploded over Massachusetts
- 3:17and sent social media into a frenzy. These stories
- 3:22highlight the vibrant and sometimes challenging
- 3:25life in Boston and surrounding areas. Now on
- 3:33to sports. The New York Knicks will look to put
- 3:37the San Antonio Spurs on the brink of elimination
- 3:40when they battle in Game 3 of the NBA Finals
- 3:432026 on Monday night. New York grabbed a commanding
- 3:472 -0 series lead with a 105 -104 victory on Friday.
- 3:54Tip -off from Madison Square Garden in New York
- 3:56City is set for 8 .30 p .m. Eastern Time. The
- 4:01Knicks are a 2 .5 -point favorite, with the over
- 4:03-slash -under for total points scored set at
- 4:06216 .5. The sportsline projection model, after
- 4:11simulating the matchup 10 ,000 times, is predicting
- 4:15the under on total points scored. The model projects
- 4:19the Spurs will score a total of 214 points combined.
- 4:24In local sports, the Red Sox are reeling after
- 4:28dropping Game 3 to the Yankees 6 -1 yesterday,
- 4:31managing just one run across nine innings at
- 4:34the stadium. Rangers Suarez pitched solid through
- 4:38six and a third, but Justin Slayton couldn't
- 4:42hold things together in relief. surrendering
- 4:44four runs. Boston heads to Tampa Bay tonight
- 4:48to face the Rays at Tropicana Field, with first
- 4:52pitch at 640, looking to reset. Connelly Early
- 4:56takes the mound against Ian Seymour in what amounts
- 4:59to a crucial matchup. The Sox sit last in the
- 5:03AL East at 27 -36, four games back of the final
- 5:08wild -card spot. They can't afford many more
- 5:12slip -ups. Speaking of slipping, there's serious
- 5:15chatter around all -star closer Aroldis Chapman.
- 5:19The 38 -year -old closer has drawn heavy interest
- 5:23on the trade market as Boston's front office
- 5:25faces a tough decision at the deadline. Chapman
- 5:30has been a bright spot this season with 28 straight
- 5:33saves, but if the losing continues, don't be
- 5:36surprised if the Sox pivot toward building for
- 5:38next year. The deadline is August 3rd. Meanwhile,
- 5:43the Bruins are looking to make a splash in the
- 5:46offseason. Detroit's Dylan Larkin has requested
- 5:50a trade, and Boston is being linked as a potential
- 5:53landing spot. Larkin won Olympic gold with Bruins
- 5:57stars Charlie McAvoy and Jeremy Swayman. A proven
- 6:01top -line center would address a major organizational
- 6:04need. In top news. A magnitude 7 .8 earthquake
- 6:11rocks the southern Philippines, causing damage
- 6:14and one -meter tsunami waves. The quake struck
- 6:18at 7 .37 a .m., centered at sea about 13 kilometers
- 6:22southwest of General Santos. President Ferdinand
- 6:27Marcos Jr. urged people to evacuate to higher
- 6:29ground, as tsunami warnings were issued for coastal
- 6:32areas in Indonesia and Malaysia. There were no
- 6:36immediate reports of casualties. but some buildings
- 6:39collapsed in General Santos. Tsunami waves up
- 6:43to 3 meters were possible on some coasts of the
- 6:46Philippines. Aftershocks of up to magnitude 6
- 6:50.5 followed. In business news, Bitcoin is cratering,
- 6:56but a new Wall Street crypto hype is on the rise.
- 7:00In a small corner of the crypto market, investors
- 7:03are rushing in instead of heading for the exits.
- 7:07So -called HYP exchange -traded funds are attracting
- 7:10new assets at a time when leading cryptocurrencies,
- 7:14including Bitcoin and Ether, are declining. Since
- 7:18their launch, these products have raised close
- 7:20to $150 million and have mostly experienced positive
- 7:25inflow days. This market is only 1 % penetrated
- 7:30into its potential, according to Matt Hogan,
- 7:33chief investment officer at Bitwise. Hyperliquid,
- 7:37a decentralized perpetual futures exchange, has
- 7:40quickly caught attention as a new asset class.
- 7:43Investors are drawn to its revenue model, where
- 7:4699 % of fees generated are used to buy back high
- 7:50key. As of Friday, the grayscale hyperliquid
- 7:54staking ETFs had $4 .5 million in assets. Experts
- 8:00believe that as awareness grows, these funds
- 8:02could accelerate mainstream adoption. However,
- 8:05competition remains high, and the platform is
- 8:08still unavailable in the United States. In crypto
- 8:12movement, Bitcoin is up 0 .5 % over the weekend
- 8:16to $63 ,000. Ethereum is down 3 % to just under
- 8:22$1 ,700. And XRP is up 1 % to $1 .15. Moving

- 9:15now, back to the show. Let's talk tech. NASA
- 9:20will wear high -tech Prada Longines to the moon.
- 9:24The liquid cooling and ventilation garment, known
- 9:27as LCVG, will be worn underneath the Axiom Extravicular
- 9:31Mobility Unit spacesuit during the Artemis IV
- 9:34mission in 2028. This space layer will provide
- 9:39cooling and comfort to astronauts circulating
- 9:42cold water through embedded tubes to whisk heat
- 9:45away from their bodies. Unlike older cooling
- 9:48suits, the LCVG features a backup system. Additionally,
- 9:53it houses a ventilation system that supplies
- 9:55fresh oxygen and directs exhaled carbon dioxide
- 9:58for recirculation. This collaboration continues
- 10:02NASA's tradition of blending high -tech materials
- 10:05with high -fashion design. And in entertainment
- 10:11news, John Lithgow is only getting better with
- 10:15age. With his latest Tony Awards win for actor
- 10:18in a play for Giant, Lithgow 80 became the oldest
- 10:22man ever to win a competitive acting Tony. The
- 10:26record was previously held by Roy Dotris at 77.
- 10:30Lithgow also opened the longest gap between competitive
- 10:33acting Tony wins in the awards history at 53
- 10:37years. His first came in 1973, surpassing Angela
- 10:42Lansbury's previous mark of 43 years. The victory
- 10:46puts Lithgow in a rare club of four performers.
- 10:50Lithgow expressed gratitude, stating, I'm such
- 10:53a lucky actor. Well, alrighty folks, it's time
- 10:58for the quote of the day. And today, our quote
- 11:02comes from the American novelist and short story
- 11:05writer S. Scott Fitzgerald. And he said, The
- 11:10test of a first -rate intelligence is the ability
- 11:12to hold two opposed ideas in mind at the same
- 11:15time and still retain the ability to function.
- 11:20And that's a wrap for this morning. You can check
