- 0:38So let's get right to it. Brandon Brandon, Hi, Brandon Brandon.
- 0:47Speaker 1: We might ran different from space.
- 0:52Speaker 2: No, man, there you go, there you go. Okay, you're good. Now,
- 0:56what what's your question for the doctor?
- 0:59Speaker 5: Hey?
- 1:00Speaker 6: So I got this pain that comes right in between
- 1:02my thumb and my index finger, and it's like just
- 1:06this searing pain that just comes in it. It's like
- 1:10I would happen to like it to like being struck
- 1:12by lightning. Man, And it's crazy. It only last for
- 1:15a second or two, but like it don't wake me
- 1:18up and out of a dead sleep, and I'm just worried, Like, man,
- 1:21what if that if that pain stayed for more than
- 1:24a minute, I would lose my mind.
- 1:26Speaker 4: Sounds like carpal tunnel to me.
- 1:28Speaker 2: What would do you? What would thanks? Doctor Barberry? What
- 1:31do you think? What do you think?
- 1:34Speaker 5: Well, it sounds like a nerve impingement of some kind.
- 1:37So whether it's from the carporal group or some other area,
- 1:40it sounds like a nerve impedement. And I think it's
- 1:42worth seeing a hand doctor, regular doctor and just talk
- 1:46about how long it's been bothering you when you notice
- 1:48it being a problem. But sounds like a nerve impingement.
- 1:52Speaker 2: And that's pretty easily happens out of nowhere. Yeah, it's
- 1:55pretty easily fixable, I think.
- 1:57Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, I would. I would definitely see either a
- 2:00hand doctor or a regular doctor and they can direct
- 2:03you further.
- 2:04Speaker 2: Okay, Okay, thank you. You know, you know, if if
- 2:08Trump wins the election, I'm going to move to the carpel.
- 2:12Speaker 5: The carpol Island, Carpel Islands.
- 2:14Speaker 2: I think yeah, yeah, uh eight seven seven six zero
- 2:18two nine six nine six, that's the number to call
- 2:21for doctor Cobble. And Zaane is online too, is.
- 2:26Speaker 7: Good morning?
- 2:27Speaker 2: How is everybody just fine? What's what's your question.
- 2:31Speaker 7: Doctor Cobble. I was wondering what home remedies can be
- 2:35done for sacret and vomiting syndrome.
- 2:38Speaker 5: Or what.
- 2:41Speaker 1: Clicking syndrome?
- 2:45Speaker 2: Thank you?
- 2:46Speaker 5: I mean number one, finding what the cause of it is.
- 2:49Some people find gen sing can be complimentary or ginger,
- 2:54so ginger root, or some people like little ginger ale.
- 2:58But but ginger root may help with nausea or vomiting.
- 3:04Speaker 2: My my, my wife and my youngest get carsick fairly easily,
- 3:10and they so whenever we're on a trip, they take
- 3:13ginger and that seems.
- 3:15Speaker 1: To powdered ginger ale. Those things are really good for
- 3:18stomach and nausea. You may you may want to try
- 3:21going to like an Asian market and finding ginger candy.
- 3:27Speaker 5: Yeah, yes, okay, all right, all right, thank you, yeah, yeah. Luck.
- 3:34Speaker 2: You can also text questions for doctor Gobble. You got
- 3:37something that's bugging you, well, then call or text.
- 3:42Speaker 1: Here's a text I've had minor pain along my achilles
- 3:47tendon since June. Should I get it checked out?
- 3:53Speaker 7: Yeah?
- 3:53Speaker 5: I mean that sounds like achilles tendon itis, and physical
- 3:56therapy is usually fantastic for that. They can teach you
- 3:58stretching and different range of motion techniques. If it's just
- 4:02been short term, like you're describing, it's good to jump
- 4:04after it now. If it's long term, I worry more
- 4:07about arthritis or leg length discrepancy or other issues. But
- 4:13it sounds like some achilles tendon itis from whatever shoes
- 4:16you're wearing or activities you've been doing.
- 4:18Speaker 2: Leg length discrepancy, like one leg is longer than the other,
- 4:22is that the.
- 4:22Speaker 5: Yeap one is shorter or longer. That can cause a
- 4:26lot of ankle and back and achilles problems.
- 4:30Speaker 1: All right, let's see, I've had an earache for over
- 4:34a month. No no infection confirmed by doctor. Neurologist said
- 4:39it would be migrain related.
- 4:41Speaker 6: Help.
- 4:42Speaker 4: That sounds like you've been to a doctor.
- 4:47Speaker 2: No doctor. What are you asking us about it?
- 4:51Speaker 4: What did that doctor say to do?
- 4:55Speaker 5: I mean, that's tough. The earache. Migraines present a lot
- 4:59of different waves. Typically I find if somebody has an
- 5:02earache and they don't have an ear infection or sinus
- 5:05infection or something obvious on the exam. Usually have them
- 5:09go to a dentist and get X rays to make
- 5:11sure they don't have a cavity. And that's typically what
- 5:14I find is they've got a cavity or something that's
- 5:18affecting the nerve from the tooth area that radiates, and
- 5:23they don't have pain in the tooth area or the
- 5:25mouth area. It's just up in the ear. So if
- 5:27you haven't seen a dentist in the last three months,
- 5:30I've probably go see them first. And I've actually had
- 5:33people sent back by the dentists saying it, you know, oh,
- 5:36they must have an infection somewhere. And then they didn't
- 5:40get X rays and they go to another dentist and
- 5:42they had a cavity, and so sometimes, yeah, maybe see
- 5:45another doctor or but it's possible migraine. I just think
- 5:49of a migraine more of temporal headaches or different different
- 5:54presentation than just an earache.
- 5:56Speaker 1: And back to zaying, we get a text that says,
- 5:59a lot of gas station truck stops sell ginger and
- 6:02Ginger candy. It's just for this this situation.
- 6:06Speaker 2: Yeah, all right, let's go back to the phones. Doctor
- 6:10Michael Cobble is with us. He can answer your medical questions.
- 6:14Just unless you're Alex and Syracuse. Don't do it. See
- 6:18we've got wine one Katie.
- 6:24Speaker 6: There we go.
- 6:25Speaker 2: There it is Hi, Jennifer, are you there?
- 6:29Speaker 5: I am?
- 6:29Speaker 8: How are you gay?
- 6:30Speaker 2: Fine? How are you? You've got a little problem?
- 6:33Speaker 8: Apparently it's all right. So my question is kind of
- 6:38an embarrassing one. I've been having some trouble with some
- 6:43like like we were coming from my breast almost like
- 6:46I'm lack hating. But I'm forty six years old, so
- 6:48I'm not pregnant.
- 6:52Speaker 5: So you're having I guess discharged for your breast. Is
- 6:56that what you're saying? Yeah, okay, yeah, that can be
- 7:01from a change in your hormones. It's perimenopausal. It can
- 7:04come from being on hormones, so it could be from prolactin.
- 7:10There are medicines that can do that too. So I
- 7:12think if you're not on any medicines, then it's probably
- 7:15reasonable to go see a doctor and maybe have prolactint
- 7:18level tested, hormones tested, thyroid tested. Is there any other
- 7:23history or anything you can share with us besides that.
- 7:29Speaker 8: No, not really, they're kind of tender and swollen.
- 7:34Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, so it could be hormone changes for menopause.
- 7:38But I think it's reasonable to go see primary care
- 7:41doctor or a gyacologist to get some blood work drawn.
- 7:44Speaker 2: Yeah, make sure, Jennifer, just make sure. Okay, go get
- 7:47it yet, all right? Yeah, yep, see you later.
- 7:53Speaker 1: Okay, we got a text question. I just moved to
- 7:56Utah from a high humidity state. Keep getting bronchitis? How
- 8:02do I prevent that?
- 8:05Speaker 5: That's a tough ee. I mean, you can get a
- 8:07humidifier in your home. If you're not having allergies, then
- 8:11an allergy pull probably won't help. A nasal saline using
- 8:16a nasal saline spray at night, or one of those
- 8:19things to try to moisturize or respiratory. Yeah, any of
- 8:24those things could be helpful. But it's tough when you
- 8:26move from a high humidity area to this dry desert environment.
- 8:31Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 8:31Speaker 4: Really have a humidifier if you can add one to
- 8:35your your HVAC system and so it's constantly monitoring the
- 8:40humidity in your house. And if you don't have access
- 8:43to that, just getting a you know, free standing one.
- 8:46Speaker 1: Keep it running.
- 8:47Speaker 2: That would help. All right, let's go to the phones. Jared, Jared, Hi, Jared,
- 8:54what's your question for doctor Cobble?
- 8:58Speaker 9: All right, morning. So I have a family history of
- 9:03colon cancer on my dad's side. My mom has crones,
- 9:06a couple other family members that have GI issues. I'm curious.
- 9:12I also have some symptoms as well. I think a
- 9:14lot of times exacerbated by certain types of food. But
- 9:17I'm wondering what age you recommend getting at colon if
- 9:23there's a family history and some mild symptoms. I know
- 9:26they say forty five, but what would you recommend?
- 9:29Speaker 5: Oh? No, I think with the family history, I would
- 9:31definitely start around thirty ish. Certainly some people would consider
- 9:36a younger age, but I think I would be thinking
- 9:38about getting a kolonosky at thirty thirty five, probably the latest.
- 9:42And especially if you're having symptoms. You know, they can
- 9:47look for colitis or inflammatory bill disease. You can also
- 9:50get a self science blood test called alcat all cats
- 9:55and that can look for food allergies to see if
- 9:58there's something you're eating that allergic to.
- 10:01Speaker 9: Okay, okay, great courage, thank you, Yeah, see you later.
- 10:05Speaker 1: All right, let's go to Freeman.
- 10:07Speaker 2: Freeman, Hello are you where are you calling from?
- 10:11Speaker 7: Good morning, calling from Ogden.
- 10:13Speaker 2: Okay, what's your question?
- 10:15Speaker 7: So I've got a problem with my left leg for
- 10:18a lot of years. It started back in like twenty thirteen.
- 10:22I don't know what initially started, but the calf muscle
- 10:25would be tight like all the time and just just
- 10:29bothered me. And then years later, you know, I did
- 10:32physical therapy, I had MRIs. It helped out a little bit.
- 10:35As soon as the physical therapy stopped, it went right back.
- 10:37And then years later, about five years ago, I hit
- 10:40it really bad of a sledgehead and it's been worse
- 10:45since then. Now it swells every day. It's really it's
- 10:49a lot more painful and discomforting. And I mean I've
- 10:53done the physical therapy stuff again and had MRIES. Like
- 10:56I think the longest stinto physical therapy I did it
- 10:58was about eleven months, and it felt better while doing
- 11:02the physical therapy. As soon as the physical therapy stops,
- 11:05I go right back to where I was in the back.
- 11:09Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 11:10Speaker 5: I mean, it almost sounds like you have a traumatic
- 11:12compartment syndrome. And the hard part is how much of
- 11:16its mechanical injury and how much could be arterial vascular.
- 11:19And I don't know if you've seen a vascular doctor
- 11:23to have testing of the veins and the arteries. And
- 11:27but I think it sounds like the physical therapy is
- 11:29great if you keep it up. But the determination is
- 11:33is this neurogenic clodication from a neuro muscular problem hitting
- 11:38your leg with a sledgehammer, or is it arterial clodication
- 11:42vascular blood flow? And I think you've got to determine
- 11:46between those two with your doctor. And then if it's
- 11:49just mechanical, then I think you may have to do
- 11:51that physical therapy for a long long time.
- 11:54Speaker 7: Yeah, all right, okay, all right, talking to a vascular
- 11:59doctor would probably yeah, a good place to start.
- 12:01Speaker 5: Again.
- 12:03Speaker 4: Those are our recommendations.
- 12:06Speaker 2: All right, thanks for calling me. Let's go to another
- 12:09call here.
- 12:09Speaker 1: This is Carla.
- 12:11Speaker 2: Hi, Carla, where are you calling us from?
- 12:14Speaker 10: Good morning? I'm calling from Bountiful.
- 12:16Speaker 2: Okay, what's your question.
- 12:18Speaker 10: I recently had a colonoscopy and I have a lipoma
- 12:23in my colon. I had one six and twenty eighteen
- 12:29and it was surrounded by diverticulitis, and so they went
- 12:34in and took eighteen inches of my colon out, and
- 12:37everything's been fine since. It was not fun, but it
- 12:41made such a huge difference in everything.
- 12:43Speaker 2: See it sounds fun.
- 12:45Speaker 10: It was awful, it was, but just needed again, needed again.
- 12:50So this one has no diverticulitis around it, They said,
- 12:55let it sit. It's it looks much happier, more pink.
- 12:59The other one really angry and red and ready to pop.
- 13:03So they said please, or they didn't say please, leave it,
- 13:06They said just leave.
- 13:08Speaker 9: This come back.
- 13:09Speaker 10: They said six years, we'll do another klonoscopy. I think
- 13:12I'll probably cut that to four because I'd like to
- 13:15stay ahead of it.
- 13:16Speaker 2: So you just want doctor Cabble to sort of weigh
- 13:19in on all of that.
- 13:20Speaker 5: What do you think, yes, please, Well, I think liphomas
- 13:24are pretty common in different connective tissue areas. You've had
- 13:27them recognized in the colon. Diverticular changes or diverticulosis or
- 13:32diverticulitis is a separate issue. Sounds like it was around
- 13:35the other lipoma and everything was angry and upset, so
- 13:39they did that inch colon removal. I think a lipoma
- 13:44is typically innocuous, it's not dangerous. I think rescoping in
- 13:50four to eight years. You know, five years, six years
- 13:53is reasonable, and I don't think that there's anything you
- 13:56could do for it, you know, nutrition wise, and again,
- 13:59lipoma are remarkably common, but they have particular changes where
- 14:05we're the bad thing. And it sounds like you just
- 14:07had that liphome in the area before. But I wouldn't
- 14:11be worried about the lyphoma itself as a as a
- 14:14signal that there's something dangerous going on.
- 14:16Speaker 10: Carla, Okay, excellent, you know that's I have huge faith
- 14:22in my doctor's nsurgeon. However, you bet you said exactly
- 14:26what they said, So thank.
- 14:27Speaker 5: You very much.
- 14:28Speaker 2: I appreciate it.
- 14:29Speaker 1: There see you later say I think we only have
- 14:33time for one more called Dedre. Can you make it quick? Deirdre?
- 14:37Speaker 7: Good?
- 14:37Speaker 3: Bet my U. I have an adult daughter that suffered
- 14:40from cyclic vomiting syndrome as the earlier caller, and started
- 14:43trying to use marijuana to control it, which led to
- 14:46a separate syndrome called cannabinoid hypermesis. And I'm sort of
- 14:51wondering if doctor Cable could do a PSA on how
- 14:55using lots of marijuana doesn't help with that anyway, and
- 14:58it can cause its own problems.
- 15:00Speaker 5: Yeah, unfortunately that that is a side effect for some
- 15:04people with thhc US, so some people use it for
- 15:09chronic vomiting, but again it can result in the in
- 15:12that problem. So it's one of those cases where the
- 15:14treatment makes a problem worse. And sounds like she already
- 15:18made that comment. So great, thank.
- 15:20Speaker 2: You, thanks, thank you very much. Thanks doctor Cobble. Nice
- 15:24to hear from you.
- 15:25Speaker 5: Yeah, thank you. Lots of questions today.
- 15:27Speaker 2: Yeah, a couple of weeks and we'll do we'll do
- 15:29it again
- 15:29Speaker 5: Okay, okay, all right, sounds great, all right, thank you sir.
