- 1:28how long it's been.
- 1:32Speaker 2: Is this your first episode back?
- 1:34Speaker 1: It's been a minute.
- 1:35Speaker 2: I apologize. It's been a minute. Yeah. That's the place off. No,
- 1:39I need.
- 1:40Speaker 1: I know.
- 1:41Speaker 2: I know.
- 1:41Speaker 1: There's... Especially all the spiders I've been killing outside my home, which...
- 1:45I didn't mean to do that foreshadowing.
- 1:47Speaker 2: Spiders? Spiders?
- 1:49Speaker 1: You don't say.
- 1:50Speaker 2: No.
- 1:52Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm done with the times off. I apologize. I...
- 1:56Nothing bad. Just life and just been busy with work and...
- 2:01stuff so but it's a good nothing nothing bad just
- 2:04good stuff you know dog and summer and work did
- 2:09i mention work and spiders spiders i i literally spent
- 2:15last week i literally went i literally last weekend um

- 2:20have to remember wait let me do this right let
- 2:23me see if i can remember this again it's like
- 2:24the fifth time i think i've done this welcome to
- 2:26chuck's cantina i'm your favorite barman host or whatever hell
- 2:28you will call me chuck hey i got it right Woo-hoo!
- 2:32And after 200 episodes.
- 2:32Speaker 2: ChessCantina at Gmail, at all these socials.
- 2:35Speaker 1: Wow, yeah. Stole my line. I'm here to help. Yeah,
- 2:40so for some reason, we have a spider problem. Like,
- 2:49and again, I literally did not mean to do that,
- 2:50like just funny force chat when it's come up here
- 2:52a little bit. For some reason, we literally have been, like,
- 2:56it's like every other summer, we've not, actually, yeah, because
- 2:58now this is our fourth year here, It's like every
- 3:01other summer we have just like just this influx of
- 3:07just like spiders. And by the way, not like thankfully
- 3:10not coming to our house so much. Like we haven't
- 3:12had that many in our house. Knock on wood. But
- 3:15like they're all gathering right at my front door. Not
- 3:19on the side, not in the backyard. My front door.
- 3:25We literally have this giant. I'll see if I can
- 3:27send you a picture with this giant orange one that's
- 3:28like right by my garden on the gutter. I thought
- 3:32I've killed this thing twice. This thing is.
- 3:37Speaker 2: The Dark Souls boss. Literally, yeah.
- 3:39Speaker 1: I was trying to think of a joke, but yeah,
- 3:40I think that just tops it off. It's a Dark
- 3:42Souls boss. It keeps, no matter how many times I
- 3:45think I've killed it, I've done the peppermint thing, and
- 3:47that worked to a point. I think it just pissed
- 3:51some of them off more than anything.
- 3:54Speaker 2: What the fuck? It's not even October yet.
- 3:56Speaker 1: I know, but no. At least give me the pumpkin
- 3:59spice spray. They're going to end up liking it more.
- 4:05Because I remember I was literally spraying some dead on
- 4:07with this peppermint. And, by the way, I don't condone
- 4:11the harmfulness of animals and bugs and life and all
- 4:14that stuff, but you know what? When they're trying to
- 4:15bite me and my animals, well, fuck you! But, literally,
- 4:19I swear, I'm, like, spraying them dead on, and they're just, like,
- 4:21sitting there. And I can tell, like, some of them
- 4:23don't like it, some of them are just like, whatever.
- 4:26Speaker 4: And.
- 4:26Speaker 1: And some of these spiders I've seen, these are, and
- 4:30obviously if you listen to the show, which if you
- 4:32haven't for a while, that's my fault. But like some
- 4:34of these spiders are like, there's some of them are,
- 4:38I'm not going to lie to you. I mean, you know,
- 4:40OG patron.
- 4:41Speaker 2: Yes.
- 4:41Speaker 1: I remember your name. Some I'm, I'm a, I'm, I'm
- 4:44a rack of phobic. I'm a pussy. When it comes
- 4:46to spiders, it is what it is. But, um, some
- 4:50of these spiders, I'm not joking. I tell you, I'm like,
- 4:53wait a minute. We're in Illinois. Why are these spiders
- 4:56this big?
- 4:58Speaker 3: South american spiders oh god shipped overseas wasn't that like.
- 5:02Speaker 1: Yeah wasn't it last fall there were supposed to be
- 5:04some like spiders that were gonna be like floated over
- 5:06here from like africa australia or some shit it.
- 5:10Speaker 2: Was hornets oh even worse hornets wasps african killer bees.
- 5:16Speaker 1: Anyway yes but no all is good um i am
- 5:21i'm sorry i thank you for joining late i uh
- 5:23apologize i am I was having a, we got home
- 5:26late from work, and as I, again, alluding to what
- 5:29I said earlier, work's been crazy, and I was having
- 5:30a nice, lovely dinner with my wife. I am not
- 5:32drinking for this episode, although I have had two glasses
- 5:34of white wine, so we'll see where this goes.
- 5:37Speaker 2: Nice.
- 5:38Speaker 1: I'm currently drinking some high-quality H2O NADC. What are you having?
- 5:41Speaker 2: I'm having some high-quality H2O. We just replaced the filter.
- 5:45It's tasting nice.
- 5:46Speaker 1: Ooh, that's going to be fresh.
- 5:48Speaker 2: It is fresh. It tastes almost too clean. Too clear? Yeah.
- 5:52Speaker 1: Too clean?
- 5:52Speaker 2: Too clean, yeah. Too clean. I don't know. Something's off
- 5:56about it. Something's off about it.
- 5:59Speaker 1: You know what? Actually, I swear I thought I would
- 6:01never really get into. My wife, she's really been trying
- 6:06to drink more water. And she's like me. We drink
- 6:10so much water of it, you just get bored of
- 6:12it so fast. So what she started doing was she
- 6:16actually started drinking like... She would just get water, but
- 6:18she would put electrolytes in it. Not like... I mean, yeah,
- 6:22she put like the flavored ones and I've never really
- 6:24like enjoyed those just because I'm like, I don't know.
- 6:27I just I've never like I love sparkling water. I
- 6:29love sparkling flavor. I won't get that wrong. But like
- 6:32I just always feel like that stuff is just like
- 6:33too bitter to me. But she got she got this
- 6:37one pack. I'm not going to say what brand they
- 6:39don't pay me in anything. But like she got this
- 6:42one and I'm not the biggest peach guy. but she
- 6:46got there's this peach flavor it was like a multi-pack
- 6:48so like she didn't get to pick what flavors it
- 6:49was and i literally i swear to you i think
- 6:51i drank all the peach ones.
- 6:54Speaker 3: Yeah peach flavored anything is usually good usually usually.
- 7:00Speaker 1: I mean our palates and everything changed throughout the course
- 7:03of life because like i said i used to hate
- 7:05or stupidly mind you i used to hate peanut butter
- 7:07and now i love peanut butter uh when.
- 7:10Speaker 3: I was a kid i didn't like cheese on things
- 7:13what the hell was i thinking.
- 7:16Speaker 2: I like pizza.
- 7:18Speaker 1: Now that I think of it, yeah, you really didn't
- 7:20eat cheese a lot at my house.
- 7:22Speaker 2: I didn't have cheeseburgers. I didn't have like, you know, whatever.
- 7:26Speaker 1: Mac and cheese or anything like that?
- 7:28Speaker 2: I never had mac and cheese.
- 7:29Speaker 3: It was just really just cheese on sandwiches or cheeseburgers.
- 7:31Speaker 2: And I was like, now thinking back on it, I'm like,
- 7:34obviously as a kid, you don't remember why you don't
- 7:36like something. Right. You know what I mean?
- 7:38Speaker 1: But now like hindsight, like I, I'm not, I'll do it.
- 7:43I'm not joking. I'll really only do it at a
- 7:46fast food drive-thru. But I rarely now, whenever I have
- 7:49a cheeseburger, it's rarely American cheese. Unless it's from a deli.
- 7:54Speaker 2: There's so much cheese out there.
- 7:57Speaker 1: There's so much cheese.
- 7:59Speaker 2: We got a Carolina Reaper cheese in the fridge right now.
- 8:04I am a sucker for.
- 8:10Speaker 1: Gouda or a sucker for goat cheese, man?
- 8:12Speaker 2: Oh, I love goat cheese a little.
- 8:15Speaker 3: Oh, I brought a hot honey goat cheese to Thanksgiving
- 8:18last year for a little charcuterie booty.
- 8:20Speaker 2: Charcuterie booty board.
- 8:25Speaker 3: And, man, that was banging. So keep your eyes out
- 8:28for that. I think I got it like a minor
- 8:30or something, but who cares?
- 8:32Speaker 2: Dude, I... A lot of plugs just now.
- 8:34Speaker 1: Yeah, no, that's fine.
- 8:35Speaker 2: You're good.
- 8:36Speaker 1: I just realized over this summer... Like, I've been trying, like, obviously,
- 8:40we're still working on our house and stuff like that. And, like,
- 8:44last week, or two weeks ago, like, we've been doing, like,
- 8:48some stuff around the house. Like, our kitchen's become, like,
- 8:50a little bit like the store center. So, Caitlin actually
- 8:53went for a nice girls' trip weekend to Boston. And
- 8:57I literally woke up one day, took my ADHD medication,
- 9:01and I just had this, like, weird urge to be like,
- 9:03you know what? I literally said, it's not like I
- 9:08haven't been able to make myself food. I want to
- 9:09make that very clear. But I'm like, I want to
- 9:12make myself breakfast, but I don't want to make myself
- 9:14breakfast in this kitchen. So I literally, I cannot tell
- 9:17you how much shit I threw out. And stupidly me,
- 9:22of course, I did this the day after our trash came.
- 9:26So this is literally, so like literally like not even
- 9:2924 hours after our trash or the trucks came to
- 9:31get our trash. My trash can was full. because i'm
- 9:35like all right for a week yeah like we don't
- 9:37need well nothing like nothing like food or anything like
- 9:39that just like shit i'm like okay i haven't used
- 9:40this you know this container since i got it from
- 9:44some random house i went to or anything like that
- 9:46you know what i mean what do you mean.
- 9:48Speaker 2: A random house you stole.
- 9:50Speaker 1: No no like you know you go to you know
- 9:51it's the classic midwest thing you go to someone's house
- 9:53hey you want any leftovers yeah sure okay and then
- 9:56you get a tupperware and it's like you can tell
- 9:58it's not saying it's like gross or anything but it's
- 9:59like the one that like they've been trying to get
- 10:01rid of since, you know, 2004.
- 10:08Speaker 2: Give me one second. I got to adjust my headphones.
- 10:10So make it.
- 10:15Speaker 1: Well, while he's doing that, I will give a brief recap.
- 10:17So yes, again, To all those who have reached out
- 10:21and to all those who have listened, I will first
- 10:23off say thank you. I appreciate it. And again, apologize
- 10:26for my delay. I am back. And I know I've
- 10:28said that in the past. This is episode 210. This
- 10:30should probably be episode 270, 260. But you know what?
- 10:34That's on me. It is what it is.
- 10:35Speaker 2: 210 is a good number.
- 10:37Speaker 1: Yeah, you know what? There are some podcasts, unfortunately, that
- 10:39I've worked with, I've been on, that are not even
- 10:41around anymore. Which sucks. It sucks. It sucks. Some great ones,
- 10:47mind you. One actually was hosted by a buddy of mine,
- 10:49and he just said they just couldn't get together, which
- 10:51is hard to do it. And it's not easy doing this,
- 10:54but if you really love doing this, you've got to
- 10:57just commit to it. And that's why I've got to
- 10:58try to be better about doing it, especially with voice acting.
- 11:00I've been taking a voice acting class for the last
- 11:02eight weeks, and just with life, it has not been easy.
- 11:04Speaker 2: But you know what?
- 11:04Speaker 1: Every time I'm doing it, it's fun as shit. I
- 11:07literally last night just sat here and was clapping. Because
- 11:10it was part of the course, they wanted to test
- 11:12my My room tone and all this stuff and clapping
- 11:15apparently helps. Actually, that was a good clap. See, because
- 11:18I actually have a very good clap. I have a
- 11:20very good clap like that one. Let me just see
- 11:22if I can get it right. Hold on. Let me
- 11:23also get it where I don't make you all deaf. Nope,
- 11:25that's not how I want.
- 11:26Speaker 2: Yeah, there you go.
- 11:27Speaker 1: We get that loud echo. See, that's how I usually clap.
- 11:30But the problem is when you're trying to set room tone,
- 11:33you want your clap to be like. That's unwrong. You
- 11:35want your clap to be very basic just so it
- 11:40resets the room. Instead, here I am doing a loud echo. And,
- 11:43of course, they're going to hear that and go, wait,
- 11:44why is there an echo? This guy's unprofessional.
- 11:46Speaker 2: Fuck you. So, yeah. That was fun. So, no. I
- 11:52am back.
- 11:52Speaker 1: To all those who reached out, I will reach back
- 11:54out to you.
- 11:54Speaker 2: I apologize.
- 11:55Speaker 1: Some of you, actually, I already had reached out to.
- 11:57Speaker 2: But. Time to reset the tone.
- 11:59Speaker 1: We're resetting the tone. Episode 1, you were here. Episode 2-10,
- 12:06you're here again.
- 12:07Speaker 2: Oh, here we go again.
- 12:08Speaker 1: Here we go again. Hey, you know what? You can
- 12:13ask me this. What came back first? GTA or Trucks Cantina?
- 12:17You're welcome. Although the GTA trailer beat me. But you
- 12:21know what?
- 12:23Speaker 2: It's a trailer.
- 12:24Speaker 1: It's a trailer that already leaked.
- 12:26Speaker 2: This is the main event.
- 12:28Speaker 1: Really quick, can we talk about that?
- 12:31Speaker 2: Talk about it.
- 12:32Speaker 1: Did you watch the 25-minute thing or no?
- 12:34Speaker 2: On Netflix?
- 12:36Speaker 1: Or just, it's on YouTube now. You can find it anywhere.
- 12:39Speaker 2: I have not. I'm kind of over the GTA hype. Yeah.
- 12:44I don't care how good of a game it's going
- 12:45to be.
- 12:46Speaker 1: You should watch it.
- 12:51Speaker 2: I mean, look. Look. Look, man. I played GTA 4
- 12:57on the 360. I did not touch GTA 5. Barely.
- 13:01Speaker 3: And the only time I did, I just put in
- 13:03all the cheat codes, especially that Skyfall one.
- 13:06Speaker 2: Oh, yeah. And you just skydove from the top of
- 13:08the map.
- 13:08Speaker 1: It was great.
- 13:09Speaker 2: That was about it.
- 13:11Speaker 3: All I've ever seen from GTA 5 is people just
- 13:13blowing shit up, running from the cops, and then all
- 13:16the microtransactions.
- 13:17Speaker 2: For GTA Online.
- 13:19Speaker 1: Correct.
- 13:20Speaker 3: The best thing, I think, to come out of GTA
- 13:225 that has crossed my path Is the fact that
- 13:25there are people online that will just role play like
- 13:29taxi drivers or whatever the fuck and just be that character.
- 13:33Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 13:33Speaker 3: And they'll get online and talk to people in that character.
- 13:35And I think that's really dope.
- 13:38Speaker 2: But tell me about GTA 6 and why I should
- 13:40be excited. Wait, really quick.
- 13:42Speaker 1: They're paying you so much money to do this. No, Rockstar. Although,
- 13:45Rockstar couldn't afford me.
- 13:46Speaker 2: I'm kidding.
- 13:47Speaker 1: That's a joke. That's a joke, Rockstar. Chuck's Cantina, gmail.com.
- 13:51Chuck's Cantina on your socials. We love to talk. I'll
- 13:53do a live. I'll talk about streaming. I really want
- 13:56to stream. I do want to stream just for fun.
- 13:58I would love to do that. But, well, although it's
- 14:02not on PC. It's not coming out on PC yet. Sorry. What?
- 14:06Speaker 2: No.
- 14:07Speaker 1: We'll get to that in a second. But here's the thing.
- 14:14They know they're going to make their money back day one.
- 14:18As we've talked about in this podcast, this is actually
- 14:23a fact. There are businesses. I can't remember. There's like one.
- 14:26I don't want to say it's like an auto repair franchise.
- 14:31Not like one of the big ones you've heard on TV. Again,
- 14:35I'm not going to name them, but like some smaller ones.
- 14:39It's either that or some type of house service. It's
- 14:40one of the two. They've already put out a public
- 14:44address saying on release date they will not be available.
- 14:48Because they are giving their employees a day off because
- 14:51they all have been like– because everyone is going to take,
- 14:54if not that day, that week off. There is literally
- 14:57people who have joked, and I think it's actually going
- 14:58to happen, a nation, if not global-wide decrease in– Productivity.
- 15:05Thank you. Productivity because of this game. Servers and Wi-Fi companies,
- 15:12all these internet providers– are going to have to pay
- 15:15double or triple overtime to keep their staff... They'll find
- 15:19someone if not. But they can make sure they're fully
- 15:23live and active because there's going to be... There is
- 15:25going to be... What's the terms? Literally, Outlook had one today.
- 15:33Speaker 2: An outage.
- 15:36Speaker 1: Thank you, Jesus.
- 15:37Speaker 2: An outage.
- 15:38Speaker 1: Yeah, there's going to be outages because so many people
- 15:41are going to play this game.
- 15:42Speaker 2: Now.
- 15:43Speaker 1: That's only on consoles because they're doing, again, they're doing
- 15:47exactly what they did with GTA V. And here's the thing.
- 15:52Here's the thing. Do I like it or agree with it?
- 15:55Speaker 2: No.
- 15:55Speaker 1: But also, I'm not stupid.
- 15:57Speaker 2: I get it.
- 15:58Speaker 1: It's money. It's a business. When GTA V came out,
- 16:04did I ever? I'm trying to think. No, I only
- 16:07had GTA V on the 360 as a, actually, funny enough,
- 16:12I had GTA V on the 360, which was a
- 16:14graduation gift. I had GTA V on my Xbox One
- 16:19that actually came with it as a code. And then
- 16:23I do have GTA V on my computer because it
- 16:25was free. It was actually free on Epic for, I think,
- 16:29like a day or two. And it crashed. It crashed.
- 16:33it crashed the fucking server, the fucking web, the online
- 16:38server's epic, which is not Steam, but it's like number two.
- 16:41It crashed it because some people were trying to get
- 16:43on to get GTA 5. This, of course, this is
- 16:45years after. Now, so essentially, I've never, you know, nicely,
- 16:48I've never paid for it, but I also, I don't,
- 16:53you know my opinions on microtransactions, stuff like that. I
- 16:56didn't pay for any of those on GTA Online either,
- 16:59but I can admit, It was fun as hell. The
- 17:05shit they give you and the things you can earn
- 17:09if you put a little more cash into it, I
- 17:10can see why. Now, do I agree with it?
- 17:12Speaker 3: No.
- 17:12Speaker 1: I'd rather be like, hey, why don't you go spend
- 17:14that money and go do something, like go to a
- 17:16wrestling show or a Cubs game. But people want to do, hey,
- 17:19it's their money. Use it when you need it.
- 17:21Speaker 2: Yeah, man.
- 17:24Speaker 1: Going to the video, though, and I get what they're doing.
- 17:26They're going to release it on consoles in two months,
- 17:30which is crazy to say. And then in, like, a
- 17:34year and a half or so, you know, I bet
- 17:36you what's going to happen is right when they announce
- 17:40the PS6 is coming out, Sony, that is, like, hey,
- 17:44it'll come out in a year, that's when they'll release
- 17:46it on PC. Because why? Because people already bought it
- 17:48on the last generation are going to have it on there.
- 17:51People who have a PC will buy it on PC.
- 17:54And then when it comes out with the new consoles...
- 17:57Then it'll be, it'll be, if, if not purchased with,
- 18:01it'll be like, Hey, you buy, you know, it could
- 18:03be God knows you and I have seen those. It'll
- 18:05be the, Hey, if you buy this console, you get
- 18:06this game with it.
- 18:08Speaker 2: Yeah, no.
- 18:08Speaker 1: And that's exactly what's going to happen because again, they
- 18:11know people are going to buy it there. I mean,
- 18:12I know people, I mean, technically you could say me,
- 18:15I've had it on the technically three different systems. Now,
- 18:18thankfully by circumstances, I didn't pay for it, but I'm
- 18:23definitely the minority. because a lot of people paid for
- 18:27it on every system they have because they wanted the
- 18:29updated graphics, the updated, uh, just all the updates and stuff. Like,
- 18:33you know, even if you have it on the three 60,
- 18:35you got all the updates. You just didn't have the graphic, uh, advantage.
- 18:38That's it.
- 18:41Speaker 2: Yeah. I don't know. It's gonna, I don't like, I
- 18:45don't like a lot to impress me with it. You
- 18:47know what I'm saying?
- 18:48Speaker 1: Like, I will say this, the video, I recommend you
- 18:51watch it.
- 18:53Speaker 2: It, I'm sure it's impressive.
- 18:54Speaker 1: It's very impressive. It's one of those things where the
- 18:58smallest little details, in terms of how they put a
- 19:01bag on their shoulder and how they load a shotgun,
- 19:03it's just like, okay, I'm shocked. It's like, yeah, this
- 19:07game took, what, 14, 15 years to come out? You
- 19:13will know shit when they're literally doing things like that.
- 19:18And again, we'll see what happens when the game actually
- 19:20comes out.
- 19:21Speaker 2: But again, I.
- 19:22Speaker 1: it's one of those things where I'm like, I'm just
- 19:23gonna be able to sit here. Unless, you know, rockstar
- 19:27wants to send me a PS five that I can
- 19:28stream with trucks. I'll make a channel on Twitch or whatever.
- 19:33Speaker 2: Um, I'll, I'll, or what's it?
- 19:35Speaker 1: Oh yeah. I know. I don't even buy it. I
- 19:38know it here. I'll promote, I'll promote your shark cards,
- 19:45but it's like a known thing. But like, I will
- 19:48say like, it's one of those trailers where like, i
- 19:50literally watched it and like again it's a you know
- 19:52it's like especially now in today's gaming and gaming knowledge
- 19:55with what we know even hell with movies which we'll
- 19:57get to in a second um spiders but like It's
- 20:01literally the common consensus now about video games. Don't pre-order anymore.
- 20:07Speaker 2: Don't pre-order.
- 20:08Speaker 1: Wait until the game comes out. Wait until the reviews
- 20:10come out. Oh, but there's a pre-order bonus. You know what?
- 20:13They're still going to include it when you buy it
- 20:14in three months from now because they're going to want
- 20:16your money. They're going to go, oh, wait, but if
- 20:17we include this pre-order bonus, we get an extra five
- 20:19bucks off them. But we'll put it on sale. That's
- 20:22what they do. Every game does that. That's what they do. Hell,
- 20:25the 2K wrestling games, they have pre-order bonuses every fucking year.
- 20:29But guess what? If you wait a couple months, you
- 20:32could buy the whole thing for a discount. And guess what?
- 20:34It comes with it. Because that's just how they do it. Now,
- 20:37there are some circumstances. I know there are actually games
- 20:39that do the pre-order thing where it's like, hey, if
- 20:40you don't pre-order it, you don't get it. Which is, hey,
- 20:42that's the risk you take.
- 20:44Speaker 3: I mean, a lot of them now, though, are including
- 20:46that with the deluxe edition upgrade.
- 20:48Speaker 2: Right. Pre-orders are included, right? Right.
- 20:51Speaker 1: And if anything, if a game doesn't include the pre-order
- 20:54bonus post-launch or pre-order If they say, like, hey, or
- 20:57if they... Because some games have done this, I know
- 20:59for a fact. Like, hey, if you pre-order it, you
- 21:01get it. Otherwise, you never get it again. It's kind
- 21:03of like, hmm, you seem desperate for me to pre-order this.
- 21:05Is it because it's shit?
- 21:07Speaker 2: Well, that's the thing, too.
- 21:08Speaker 3: It's like a lot of it is just, like, stuff
- 21:10that you don't really need, but you would get anyway,
- 21:13but you just get it earlier.
- 21:15Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 21:15Speaker 3: Or, like, in the case of the WWE shit, it's, like, just,
- 21:19you know, completely, like, nullifies the grind of, like, your.
- 21:24Speaker 2: My Rise character, right?
- 21:25Speaker 3: You just get a bunch of upgrade points out the gate,
- 21:28and so, like, your character's just overpowered as fuck, so.
- 21:31Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 21:33Speaker 1: But, um, no, I would, I recommend, I would recommend
- 21:36go watching it, because I'm not gonna lie, it's very
- 21:39nicely paced, it's, I like, I actually, I like how
- 21:42they did it, so they, it's not like you're sticking
- 21:44with one, you don't stick with one scene, the way
- 21:46they transition to, like, other parts of the game, I'm like, okay,
- 21:48that's actually pretty clever. I would, like I said, if
- 21:51you have 25 minutes, I recommend, it's a good watch.
- 21:5325 minutes is kind of crazy for a trailer.
- 21:56Speaker 2: What's that? 25 minutes is kind of crazy for a trailer.
- 21:59Speaker 1: No, that I agree with, but it's not a trailer,
- 22:02it's gameplay.
- 22:04Speaker 2: It's an extended look.
- 22:05Speaker 1: It's an extended look of a trailer.
- 22:08Speaker 3: Speaking of games, I've been pretty pumped for this Wolverine game.
- 22:12They released some more details about what they.
- 22:14Speaker 1: Must be nice. Yeah, no, it looks amazing.
- 22:19Speaker 2: It's given definite X-Men Origins Wolverine... Vibes. It's given... Criminally underrated,
- 22:27by the way. Right.
- 22:28Speaker 3: And it's given vibes of the Wolverine game from, like,
- 22:31the PS2, GameCube era.
- 22:35Speaker 2: Wolverine Revenge, or whatever the heck it was called.
- 22:37Speaker 1: I mean, I get, like, insane God of War vibes
- 22:40off it.
- 22:41Speaker 2: Yeah, definitely. Especially with, like, the Berserker state or whatever.
- 22:47Speaker 3: But they did release some details in a new trailer about, like,
- 22:50the gameplay loop and how there's, like, these.
- 22:54Speaker 2: extra missions you can do between stuff.
- 22:56Speaker 3: And there's this hub world where you can like interact
- 22:58with these characters and, uh, and, um, Wolverine can smell
- 23:02out these nightmare doors, which I'm like, how the fuck
- 23:05does that work?
- 23:05Speaker 2: But it's like extra challenges and shit.
- 23:08Speaker 3: And I'm interested to see how, how good it really is.
- 23:12If he can hold up to the, the Spider-Man games, um,
- 23:17this insomniac, right?
- 23:18Speaker 1: Correct.
- 23:19Speaker 3: If it can hold a candle to those and like the,
- 23:21the amount of content that was there.
- 23:24Speaker 2: But we'll see what happens. What will be interesting to see...
- 23:26One of my favorite characters, so... What will be interesting to.
- 23:28Speaker 1: See, though, is, like, yeah, can it, like, hold a
- 23:31candle to Spider-Man? Especially because, like, I haven't played it, but, like,
- 23:37it seems like, as years have gone on, the Spider-Man
- 23:412 is not as well-received. I mean, especially since they
- 23:46canceled the DLC. Which, like, yeah, if you bought a game,
- 23:49figured you'd get all this DLC, and then they cancel it, I'd.
- 23:51Speaker 2: Be pissed, too.
- 23:51Speaker 1: I don't know why.
- 23:53Speaker 3: But.
- 23:54Speaker 1: no it's supposedly it was due to a leak and
- 23:57then there's some other things that like contributed to it
- 23:59but like at the same time it's just kind of
- 24:00like like really like we're gonna like because it's like
- 24:05it's spider again like i mean foreshadowing it's spider-man it
- 24:09could be absolute dog shit guess.
- 24:12Speaker 3: What it's still gonna make money and the first one's
- 24:15dlc was kind of like underwhelming in terms of its
- 24:17scope like i'd agree that for sable was in there
- 24:21tombstone was in there or something but that was kind
- 24:23of it and it was like well there's cooler shit
- 24:25you could have done but whatever um yeah and i
- 24:29mean yeah like you're right it's money on the table
- 24:32you know people would have bought it um it is
- 24:37what it is it's money at the end of the
- 24:39day it's money and money you gotta do something special
- 24:41money to spend my money excuse me.
- 24:44Speaker 1: Which they'll probably get some of it um with that
- 24:46being said though so yeah but and Speaking of Spider-Man... No,
- 24:51I'm just kidding. Actually, speaking of Marvel, I'll say this.
- 24:57The one thing I'll say about video games, but kind
- 25:00of ties into more what we're going to talk about
- 25:01here in a second. Did you see the.
- 25:04Did you see the Iron Man leak?
- 25:07Speaker 2: The Iron Man leak?
- 25:08Speaker 1: The Iron Man video game leak.
- 25:11Speaker 2: No.
- 25:11Speaker 1: This is a game that's been talked about for years
- 25:14to come.
- 25:14Speaker 2: Yes, it has. And.
- 25:17Speaker 1: I don't know if the trailer.
- 25:21Speaker 2: Yes. Oh no.
- 25:23Speaker 1: It's definitely recommend to watch. It's not 25 minutes long,
- 25:29which is nice. Eight minutes long, like five minutes. Well,
- 25:33it's not, it's, I think it's one of those, I
- 25:34think it's one of those things that it wasn't supposed
- 25:37to leak. Um, and I think it's, I think it's
- 25:40like a trailer before, like, like they're trying to figure
- 25:42out what to put in the trailer. If that makes sense.
- 25:46definitely worth the watch now I'm not condoning anyone on
- 25:50here to go watch something that's illegally up there I
- 25:52mean not that you can't you don't have to go
- 25:53to like you can go on any social media page
- 25:55and you'll find it in two seconds but definitely worth
- 26:00the search it was very interesting and I'm not going
- 26:06to lie considering especially who's making it wink wink I
- 26:10was surprised with how much again but we've been fooled
- 26:12before so With that being said, we'll see what happens. But, yes,
- 26:17speaking of spiders.
- 26:20Speaker 2: Fuck spiders.
- 26:20Speaker 1: No, we're obviously going to do a... Actually, did I even...
- 26:23Did I ask you what you're drinking?
- 26:25Speaker 2: Yeah, high quality H2O. Oh, yeah, okay.
- 26:28Speaker 1: I was like, son of a bitch. I forgot one thing.
- 26:29Speaker 2: No.
- 26:31Speaker 1: Yes, we are going to talk about Spider-Man's brand new day.
- 26:33Because it's his brand new movie. On a brand new day.
- 26:37Speaker 2: And a brand new Chuck's Cantina.
- 26:41Speaker 1: Very much so. Yes, thank you. in a brand new month,
- 26:45brand new quarter. Um, it seems like it.
- 26:47Speaker 2: No.
- 26:47Speaker 1: Um, so yeah, I will, I will say this. So
- 26:52I was fortunate enough to actually, um, because I'm a
- 26:57member of a website. This is going to sound really
- 27:00sketchy when I found, because I'm a, because I'm a
- 27:05member of a website of a shopping website that everyone
- 27:08shops from. Yeah, where you get very good delivery deals.
- 27:14You get free delivery very often with everything. There we go.
- 27:16Speaker 2: That helps. Named after a rainforest and a river. Yeah.
- 27:21Named after the rainforest.
- 27:22Speaker 1: Yeah. Wherever piranhas are from. There you go. Piranha.com. They
- 27:33had a special where if you were a member, you
- 27:36were able to actually go see the movie on that
- 27:37Wednesday before it came out. that's kind of crazy tickets
- 27:42sold out pretty fast I was fortunate enough to go
- 27:44and see it with a buddy of mine and I
- 27:46will tell you the theater was packed so much so
- 27:51that it was packed that there was actually a financial
- 27:54services business there they were doing like a walk-up, like, hey,
- 27:59before you see your movie, you want to talk about
- 28:01your finances?
- 28:01Speaker 2: Like, really? No, man. This is the last place I want.
- 28:05Speaker 1: To talk about that. I'm spending $ 25 on a popcorn
- 28:09and a soda. Go fuck off.
- 28:15Speaker 2: I just want to need you most. Where were you?
- 28:17Speaker 1: No, because my buddy, I went in with my buddy Joe,
- 28:19and like, he works, he kind of works in finances,
- 28:22and I remember him being like, why are you here?
- 28:27this is the last place you should be at so right.
- 28:31Speaker 3: Away I was like $ 35 bucket of popcorn shaped like
- 28:33Spider-Man's face looks back up and is like oh I.
- 28:35Speaker 1: Get it they had no they had I think out
- 28:41of all the popcorn buckets they had they were out
- 28:43they only had the cups I'm not really I'm not
- 28:47really into this is hilarious coming from me I'm not
- 28:49really into the popcorn buckets because I actually only have
- 28:52um which one do I have I have one that
- 28:55we got from Disney shocking um But we also got
- 28:59the Deadpool.
- 29:00Speaker 2: Darth Vader's mouth hole?
- 29:01Speaker 1: No, it's the Millennium Falcon. Thank you very much. But actually, no,
- 29:04speaking of mouth hole, we have the Deadpool Wolverine one,
- 29:06which literally does Wolverine's head in with his mouth wide open.
- 29:08Speaker 2: That's awesome. That's awesome.
- 29:11Speaker 1: I don't know. Again, I remember, I don't know why
- 29:13I bought that. I definitely bought that. I'm like, oh,
- 29:16I got to get this funny popcorn bucket. Because, of course, obviously,
- 29:18it was their interpretation of the Dune one.
- 29:21Speaker 2: Right, of course.
- 29:22Speaker 1: The Wormacy.
- 29:22Speaker 2: The shiny allude. The sun can leap. I'm excited.
- 29:33Speaker 1: Actually, funny enough, I'm not going to lie. I've never
- 29:37sent a podcast. I haven't seen Dune 2 yet.
- 29:40Speaker 2: I don't know why.
- 29:41Speaker 1: Because everyone tells me it's like one of the best
- 29:45sequels of that movie's ever made.
- 29:46Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 29:46Speaker 1: It was really good.
- 29:48Speaker 2: And I really wanted... I'm not looking forward to Dune 3, but.
- 29:51Speaker 1: Sorry, what were you saying?
- 29:52Speaker 2: I mean, we went and saw the Odyssey, right? Yeah.
- 29:56That was amazing. Another amazing movie. But one of the trailers.
- 30:00Speaker 3: was dune 3 and that was another that was an
- 30:04instance of a trailer not really being a trailer being
- 30:06like more of an extended look because it was just
- 30:08one scene yeah but um.
- 30:10Speaker 1: Didn't start with the director danny velner going thank you
- 30:13to my friend christopher nolan for letting me take this
- 30:15time to show you my trailer or something like.
- 30:17Speaker 2: That i think so yeah.
- 30:19Speaker 1: A buddy of mine told me he's like yeah it
- 30:20was like a minute it was him like thank you
- 30:22thank you in the audience like i want to thank
- 30:24nolan for letting me have this time i'm like what.
- 30:28Speaker 3: You really need to advertise Dune 3 that hard? Like,
- 30:31you need to call in a favor from Christopher Nolan?
- 30:34Speaker 1: I mean, it's coming out on Dune's day. I think, regardless,
- 30:36you're going to make some money on this movie, my guy.
- 30:38Speaker 2: Oh, is it really? I forgot about that. Anyway. So, yes.
- 30:43Speaker 1: So, Spider-Man Brand New Day.
- 30:46Speaker 3: Let me ask you this before we get started. When
- 30:48you went to go see it, did they play any trailers?
- 30:52Speaker 1: Here's a question for you. What time did your movie
- 30:55actually fucking start?
- 30:56Speaker 2: What? It started right on fucking time because there were
- 31:00no trailers. Really?
- 31:01Speaker 1: Would you like to know what time my movie started?
- 31:03Because I kept a timer.
- 31:06Speaker 2: Is it like half hour late? 35. Damn. No trailers,
- 31:10just pure darkness?
- 31:12Speaker 1: I've explained this before on previous episodes. So, obviously, Marvel
- 31:18owns Spider-Man, but Sony has the rights to Spider-Man. So
- 31:22they show all these trailers. There's a Disney trailer. Other
- 31:26movie trailers. Obviously, of course, a Doomsday trailer. Then right
- 31:30after that, okay. Because, again, it's the Doomsday trailer.
- 31:32Speaker 2: Okay, here we go.
- 31:33Speaker 1: Boom. The big last trailer. Movie time.
- 31:37Speaker 2: Nope.
- 31:37Speaker 1: Three more fucking Sony trailers because it's a Sony movie. Like,
- 31:41son of a bitch.
- 31:43Speaker 2: That's brutal.
- 31:44Speaker 1: Literally. I'm not joking. It is the longest I've waited
- 31:48for a trailer. Because the thing is, like you, I
- 31:50read that some movies that saw Spider-Man had no trailers
- 31:56because some people showed up late. Because you're like, wait
- 31:59a minute.
- 31:59Speaker 2: And you missed 20 minutes of the movie.
- 32:01Speaker 1: It's a known thing now. Movies don't start on time.
- 32:03They start fucking 45, 30 minutes, 45 minutes after the
- 32:06time it says. Because even most tickets say that now. But,
- 32:10you know, it started. And that's actually kind of like why.
- 32:13That's actually why me and Joe went on time. Because
- 32:16the thing, my ticket didn't say like, hey. Because my
- 32:21wife and I, we go to movie theater often. And, like,
- 32:24they always say, like, oh, hey, please be aware, like,
- 32:26your movie actually starts at, like, 20, 25 minutes after.
- 32:28Speaker 2: That's nice. That's a nice little thing.
- 32:31Speaker 1: No, but all the movie theaters now do that. But, like,
- 32:34the thing about this ticket, it didn't say that.
- 32:38Speaker 2: Fuckers. See, my thing was quite the opposite experience of yours, right?
- 32:44We were on time.
- 32:46Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 32:46Speaker 3: But we wanted some popcorn. And we went with some
- 32:49friends because it was my buddy's birthday. And they did
- 32:52a double feature. We met up for Spider-Man. So we
- 32:55got there on time.
- 32:56Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 32:57Speaker 2: I had the tickets already. They go to sit down.
- 32:59Speaker 3: I'm like, babe, talking to my wife, babe, you go
- 33:03sit down. I'm going to get us some popcorn.
- 33:05Speaker 2: What a gent. Because I'm a good person.
- 33:08Speaker 1: What a good lad.
- 33:09Speaker 3: But because there were two theaters playing Spider-Man, the Odyssey
- 33:13was also out. The line was crazy. But in my head,
- 33:16I'm like, hey, you know, I got some trailer time.
- 33:19I got some buffer time.
- 33:20Speaker 2: We'll be good. Next thing I know.
- 33:24Speaker 3: 20 minutes later, I'm, like, finally getting my popcorn. I
- 33:29text my wife, and I was like, hey, did I
- 33:30miss anything? And she's like, Spider-Man's sad and lonely.
- 33:34Speaker 2: I'm like, what do you mean Spider-Man's sad and lonely?
- 33:36And it's like, oh, no, another Punisher.
- 33:38Speaker 1: Oh, by the way, spoiler alert. What do you mean
- 33:39the Punisher's here?
- 33:41Speaker 2: What do you mean the Punisher's here? What are you
- 33:44talking about?
- 33:44Speaker 3: And I get in there, and he's already in this
- 33:47lab in his, like, little fucking bachelor pad bungalow, whatever
- 33:51the fuck.
- 33:51Speaker 2: Yeah. And I'm like, oh, dude, I missed a.
- 33:54Speaker 3: ton of shit and I realized later like I missed
- 33:57all the exposition because it was just hard exposition in
- 33:59the beginning of the movie yeah beating up tombstone you
- 34:03know beating scorpion scorpion breaking out of prison the thing
- 34:07with fucking the scene where they introduced the idea oh
- 34:11somebody's controlling scorpion's mind and trying to get into spider-man's
- 34:16mind but he can't and the punisher's here so I
- 34:17missed the whole punisher scene which was like fucking that
- 34:20was a bummer but we got back into it and
- 34:22we're good that's good but yeah But it was the
- 34:24same thing when my buddy went to go see The Odyssey.
- 34:27Speaker 2: No trailers. So I think what they.
- 34:28Speaker 3: Were trying to do is get people in and out
- 34:31as frequently as possible. Because there had been some lulls
- 34:35in movies coming out that people wanted to see.
- 34:37Speaker 2: So I think they were just trying to get as
- 34:39many people in and out as possible.
- 34:41Speaker 1: Well, I can tell you right now.
- 34:42Speaker 2: What do I know?
- 34:43Speaker 1: There's no lull with this fucking movie. As of August 31st.
- 34:48Speaker 2: It's got the dates. It's got the numbers.
- 34:50Speaker 1: Would you like to guess where... Let me double, I
- 34:55thought it was bigger than that. Let me double check this.
- 34:57Guess where Spider-Man Brand New Day is on the type
- 35:01Lifetime Gross.
- 35:03Speaker 2: Isn't it like Lifetime Gross?
- 35:05Speaker 1: Correct.
- 35:07Speaker 2: Isn't it like number, I want to guess number two,
- 35:09number three.
- 35:10Speaker 1: So I heard this afternoon it was at number three.
- 35:14According to Box Office Mojo, which is through IMDb, they're
- 35:18at fourth by less than two million. So that'll be
- 35:22done probably by today.
- 35:23Speaker 3: But.
- 35:23Speaker 2: Because it's still in theaters, right? Correct, yeah.
- 35:28Speaker 1: And as they should, they're going to milk the shit
- 35:31out of this thing until they... Because, again, the theatrical
- 35:34window pretty much, like most movies, is like 45 days. But, like,
- 35:37obviously with Spider-Man, they know, like, hey, they can make...
- 35:42Got all so much money off this movie. I said
- 35:43they should milk it to the very last minute.
- 35:47Speaker 2: But.
- 35:49Speaker 1: And I will say this. Out of all the Disney-Sony
- 35:55relationship MCU Spider-Man movies, I would agree. Now, I have
- 36:00a huge soft spot for No Way Home. Not that
- 36:05many people don't like it. A lot of people love
- 36:07the movie. But it is definitely a.
- 36:11How do I put this? In terms of if you're
- 36:15a pro wrestling fan, it's a mark-out movie. It's for
- 36:18the marks. Yeah, dude.
- 36:21Speaker 2: It's crazy. There's never been a movie like it. Yeah.
- 36:24Speaker 1: This movie, though, I think is your classic street-level, which
- 36:29is why people want Spider-Man movie, with obviously some big implications,
- 36:34the things with some people that he obviously can't fight,
- 36:37not saying he can't fight, but are clearly a bit
- 36:39more powerful than him. But, like, at the end of
- 36:42the day, he does a scene and, like, you know,
- 36:43saves the day. You know, do-do-do-do-do. Like, it's... But it
- 36:47was one of those things where... And here's the thing.
- 36:51As OG Patron knows, this is going to sound really shitty,
- 36:54but it's not.
- 36:56Speaker 2: I don't drink a lot.
- 36:57Speaker 1: But I drink a lot. I drink a lot of water.
- 37:00I drink a lot of sparkling water. I'll have a...
- 37:03Whenever I go to the movie theater, I'll have a big...
- 37:06I'll have the big cup.
- 37:07Speaker 2: And usually... usually.
- 37:09Speaker 1: Probably a good 20, quarter of the way through, my
- 37:13bladder's like, hey man, uh, tough shit. Thankfully for this, what,
- 37:19I think it was like almost two and a half hours,
- 37:21I didn't, because again, I love Spider-Man, I didn't get
- 37:23up once. It was great. That movie, as long as,
- 37:26I'm not saying it's like a long, it's like a long,
- 37:28oh my god, it's like, I thought it just, it
- 37:31just flowed. That's the word I'm looking for. It's flowed
- 37:34so easily.
- 37:35Speaker 2: That's the thing that I.
- 37:36Speaker 3: Loved about it is that like, we don't, just get
- 37:39like a three arc story. We get like a secret
- 37:43fourth arc.
- 37:44Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 37:44Speaker 2: In this movie where it's like, you know, spoiler alert,
- 37:49I guess.
- 37:50Speaker 1: We already said it.
- 37:50Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 37:51Speaker 3: The villain that you think is the villain turns out
- 37:54to be not the villain.
- 37:56Speaker 2: You know what I mean? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. No, no.
- 37:58Going into this movie, knowing that Jean Grey was in it,
- 38:00I was like, okay.
- 38:01Speaker 1: Wink, wink, nudge, nudge. The worst kept secret.
- 38:04Speaker 3: Yeah. No, like leaked like five years ago. Um, I
- 38:09thought she was going to be like an ally. I
- 38:10thought she was going to be somebody that helps them
- 38:12out or whatever. I think that was going to be
- 38:14the introduction of like the X-Men as a concept somehow.
- 38:17Speaker 2: Yeah. But none of that was true.
- 38:19Speaker 3: And in fact, they made Jean Grey a really convincing
- 38:23and threatening villain, right?
- 38:26Speaker 2: Right. And didn't mention X-Men once.
- 38:29Speaker 3: There was not even an indication that there was somebody
- 38:32that noticed her powers go off. Like you would think,
- 38:36that Charles Xavier might pick up on another telepath or
- 38:38such and such.
- 38:39Speaker 2: There's no inkling of that, no nod to that.
- 38:41Speaker 3: So I think they're playing their cards really close to
- 38:44the chest on that one.
- 38:46Speaker 1: As they should.
- 38:47Speaker 2: As they should.
- 38:47Speaker 3: But in the way, and that being said, like Spider-Man
- 38:52and the X-Men have been really connected throughout time and
- 38:55like the comics and shit. So there's definitely really cool
- 38:59history that.
- 38:59Speaker 2: They're playing off of there.
- 39:01Speaker 3: But I thought the story of her, you know, taking
- 39:04over the minds of these petty criminals to get access
- 39:07to damage control and all that stuff. And the way
- 39:09that evolves into like her going bigger and bigger. And
- 39:14then finally the reveal, you know, of her trying to
- 39:18find her sister of all people after the fact.
- 39:21Speaker 2: And then Spider-Man being like, oh shit, I fucked up.
- 39:23Speaker 3: I gotta go help this person um you know again
- 39:28that plays into spider-man as a character like you know
- 39:33always wanting to do.
- 39:34Speaker 2: The right thing the morally righteous thing but also being able.
- 39:38Speaker 3: To look past someone's transgressions to to give them that
- 39:42second chance that right he kind of got right um
- 39:49It's really interesting because this Spider-Man still hasn't really.
- 39:52Speaker 2: We haven't seen him go through his origin story. You
- 39:55know what I mean?
- 39:56Speaker 1: Which I'm kind of happy they didn't do that because
- 39:58it's been done to death so many times.
- 39:59Speaker 3: It's been done to death, but still it's like... It's
- 40:02interesting that that's never just come up in a flashback
- 40:05or anything like that.
- 40:05Speaker 2: You know what I mean? Uncle Ben hasn't been on
- 40:07screen once.
- 40:09Speaker 1: They've never mentioned... I don't know if they've ever actually
- 40:11mentioned Uncle Ben. And that's the thing. Because I remember
- 40:14I thought... especially with No Way Home, maybe they would
- 40:18say something about Uncle Ben, because all you ever know is,
- 40:20oh yeah, his aunt raises him.
- 40:21Speaker 2: Yeah, none of the other Spider-Men, did they bring up
- 40:24Uncle Ben at all?
- 40:26Speaker 1: The only time Uncle Ben is brought up with Tom
- 40:28Holland is when, spoiler alert, No Way Home, is when
- 40:30he talks to Toby and Andrew, and he says the line,
- 40:34and they both go, Uncle Ben said that. And of course,
- 40:36Peter's not like, who the fuck is Uncle Ben?
- 40:38Speaker 2: He just goes.
- 40:40Speaker 1: Anyway. Yeah. Like, has Uncle Ben an asshole in your
- 40:45universe or something?
- 40:46Speaker 2: Yeah, man.
- 40:48Speaker 1: It's interesting.
- 40:49Speaker 2: It makes you think. I haven't thought about that until
- 40:51just now. I'm like, man.
- 40:52Speaker 1: Well, because I remember I was... Because it's like that
- 40:55known thing.
- 40:55Speaker 2: Like....
- 40:57Speaker 1: You know batman his parents got shot uh.
- 41:01Speaker 2: Peter parker superman's from a different planet.
- 41:03Speaker 1: Right his and peter parker his uncle gets killed like.
- 41:06Speaker 2: Peter parker became a professional wrestler and got some extra
- 41:09money until then he left.
- 41:11Speaker 3: And then i was ready uh-huh but watch your man
- 41:14randy savages everybody knows this it's just it's.
- 41:19Speaker 1: It's like it's like water is wet america's apple pie
- 41:22Randy Savage as Bonesaw McGraw in Spider-Man 1.
- 41:29Speaker 2: Five minutes of playtime.
- 41:31Speaker 4: You ain't going nowhere.
- 41:40Speaker 1: Oh, my God. Where's that guy's Academy Award?
- 41:42Speaker 2: Sorry. Best Supporting Actor.
- 41:46Speaker 4: Right.
- 41:47Speaker 2: Bonesaw.
- 41:49Speaker 1: No, and the thing I'd like to is like.
- 41:50Speaker 2: I'd like to accept this award. Uh-huh. I have a
- 41:56little macho maniacs. Sorry, I'm getting a little misty-eyed.
- 42:06Speaker 1: Hogan never got one of these, brother.
- 42:08Speaker 4: Well, actually, dude, I got one in Japan in 1985
- 42:13when I traveled because actually in one course of 100 days...
- 42:17I actually wrestled 575 times if you count travel time, brother.
- 42:20Speaker 2: I was wrestling two guys with one hand.
- 42:25Speaker 1: Oh my God. But the thing, the thing, back to, sorry, back,
- 42:28back to Radio Day, but to go off your point,
- 42:30I love like how you said, it was like a,
- 42:31you said it was like a, it was like a
- 42:32four point or whatever it was.
- 42:34Speaker 2: Four arc story. Yeah, four arc.
- 42:36Speaker 1: The thing I like is like, obviously when he realizes like,
- 42:38oh wait, I'm helping the wrong person. I thought, they
- 42:41didn't like do this whole like, I love how they
- 42:44didn't like, what's the term, focus on it where it's like,
- 42:47we got to talk about this for 30 minutes. It's like,
- 42:49Oh no, I fucked up.
- 42:50Speaker 2: Okay.
- 42:51Speaker 1: Let me go help out.
- 42:52Speaker 2: I got cool now. Yeah.
- 42:53Speaker 1: I got to go now.
- 42:54Speaker 2: There were so many really good plot threads in this movie.
- 42:57Speaker 3: Like the whole idea of Mary Jane figuring it out.
- 43:01Speaker 2: Right. Kind of like that. Peter was Spider-Man more or less.
- 43:08And then like the moment.
- 43:10Speaker 3: That we've kind of been waiting for, it's like, man,
- 43:12we just really want to see them reconnect. She finds
- 43:15the letter that he leaves behind.
- 43:18Speaker 2: Reads it without him really getting to explain in person.
- 43:21Speaker 3: Right. And then the reaction is so genuine. It's like,
- 43:24this person doesn't like exist anymore. This relationship doesn't exist.
- 43:29I don't feel what you feel right now.
- 43:34Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 43:34Speaker 2: And that's like such a realistic interpretation of how that
- 43:39would go.
- 43:40Speaker 1: Well, as soon as he left her at that boat,
- 43:44the crowd, like the people, it's like, well, he left
- 43:46that letter behind.
- 43:47Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 43:48Speaker 1: Like, I could see where it was going. But, like,
- 43:51and here's the thing. I do believe, like, that's been, like,
- 43:55the long, like, debate. Not even, like, rumor. It was like, oh, yeah, like,
- 43:58when the next movie comes out, he'll kiss her and
- 43:59she'll get her memory back. He technically never kissed her.
- 44:04He only kissed her when she was mind-controlled. Which I
- 44:07thought that would be.
- 44:09Speaker 2: Right, exactly.
- 44:09Speaker 1: Because what happens.
- 44:11Speaker 3: See, in making Mary Jane a villain, that was, like,
- 44:14the irredeemable thing, right? Right.
- 44:16Speaker 2: It's like....
- 44:18Speaker 3: I'm pretty sure that's like double sexual assault.
- 44:21Speaker 2: Jesus!
- 44:24Speaker 3: You possessed the man's mind of somebody else to have
- 44:30somebody else kiss them.
- 44:31Speaker 2: They were thinking they were kissing somebody else, but they
- 44:33were really kissing somebody else. Oh my god!
- 44:37Speaker 1: You hit them both at once. Not that that's a
- 44:41funny subject, but Jesus!
- 44:42Speaker 3: But realistically, how are you coming back from that?
- 44:48Speaker 2: Oh my god like how are you like saving her
- 44:50at the end well obviously.
- 44:51Speaker 1: Obviously zendaya is like a phenomenal phenomenal actor so of
- 44:55course she could play that evil you know conniving bitch
- 44:57really well because like you know he thinks he's you
- 44:59know he got the love of his life back and
- 45:01she's like actually no i'm just i'm just i'm just
- 45:03using the girl you want to be with as a
- 45:04puppet fuck you.
- 45:05Speaker 3: Right and she sends her off the side of a
- 45:07building you're right crazy crazy towns right.
- 45:10Speaker 1: I will say sadie's like did a phenomenal job as
- 45:12jean great but like for real The two things.
- 45:15Speaker 2: And, like, again, I love.
- 45:17Speaker 1: And this is the thing I love.
- 45:17Speaker 2: Like, all the.
- 45:18Speaker 1: Like, oh, yeah, she'll get her memory back when they kiss.
- 45:20And I love, like, how did the movie end? How
- 45:22it should. He does his handshake with Ned, which is
- 45:25fucking awesome.
- 45:26Speaker 2: Yeah. And, like... Ned immediately knows who he is.
- 45:29Speaker 1: Right away. You know, like a light switch.
- 45:32Speaker 2: Oh, hey, Peter.
- 45:32Speaker 1: You know what I mean? Like, you know. But I
- 45:35do have to say the most redeeming quality about this movie. First,
- 45:39one thing. I am happy that... So the biggest complaint
- 45:44about Tom Holland's Spider-Man is I haven't had a problem
- 45:47with it because of the universe he's in. I want
- 45:50to make that clear. But I get the criticism is
- 45:53that he is Iron Man Jr. This movie, not so much. Sure,
- 45:57he's still a very smart guy. He knows how to
- 46:01use tech. He obviously, it's the classic Spider-Man. His web
- 46:04shooters are not organic. Hold that thought. They're not organic.
- 46:08But then it comes into the play where it's like,
- 46:10I love how they, because that's the thing. Because like,
- 46:14Tobey Maguire, he said, because, like, I'll never forget, like,
- 46:16I don't know exactly, like, when they added the organic
- 46:19webbing in the Sam Raimi movies, but Tobey Maguire, there's
- 46:22literally an interview that's been going around, that went around
- 46:23when the movie came out, and someone's like, like, hey, like,
- 46:26where'd you guys go with this organic webbing thing? And
- 46:28he's like, look, based on the situation he's in, if
- 46:32he's that smart where he can make this stuff, you're
- 46:35telling me he wouldn't find a way to make money
- 46:38off of something like that, but, like, wouldn't make it obvious?
- 46:42And it's like, you've got a point.
- 46:43Speaker 2: Right?
- 46:44Speaker 1: It's like, especially with the situation.
- 46:47Speaker 3: Regardless of that, in the original comics, it didn't matter
- 46:51that he could make this stuff. He was still in
- 46:53the Daily Bugle, right?
- 46:54Speaker 2: Right.
- 46:55Speaker 3: Again, it's old-timey Golden Age comic logic where it's like,
- 46:58this guy who can invent this synthetic web fluid that's
- 47:01stronger than steel or whatever, he still has to work
- 47:03as a reporter and a photographer in the Daily Bugle.
- 47:08Speaker 2: And everyone goes, okay, cool, cool, cool.
- 47:11Speaker 1: But yeah, and I love, and I love how they
- 47:13integrate like the organic weapon into here. Cause it's like,
- 47:16you can, that's obvious. It's like, I mean, it's, they
- 47:19already announced the movie, but I love how they're going
- 47:21to like that whole like mutation.
- 47:22Speaker 2: Like, oh yeah.
- 47:22Speaker 1: Like your, your, what would they call it? Your arachnia
- 47:27is increasing because of your stress levels and all this shit.
- 47:29And like, you know, his eyes are black and like, no,
- 47:34and supposedly he actually tried to, he wanted to do
- 47:36the human spider. But according to multiple execs, they're like,
- 47:40we want kids to see this movie.
- 47:42Speaker 2: Not see weird, crazy growths. I'm not going to lie.
- 47:45I'm not going to lie.
- 47:47Speaker 1: They made the right call.
- 47:48Speaker 2: Well, look. So back to the source material, right? There
- 47:52is a story.
- 47:53Speaker 3: It's not the six-armed Spider-Man story, but it's a more
- 47:55recent story where he does go through this secondary mutation
- 47:59where it's like the same idea. It's more heady in
- 48:02that he's seeing a vision of this crazy spider, man
- 48:05spider thing. And it's talking to him like it is
- 48:08some kind of other being. And that kind of went
- 48:12into the... I think it went into the whole Inheritor storyline,
- 48:16which is way more in line with what the Spider-Verse
- 48:20is doing, where all these Spider-Men from across the universe, multiverse, whatever,
- 48:24they exist for a reason because they're part of this
- 48:26bigger thing. But the story was him having to choose
- 48:31between letting the spider.
- 48:34Speaker 2: in or like keeping it at bay.
- 48:36Speaker 3: And again, like the same thing happened where he woke
- 48:38up in kind of a cocoon sort of thing.
- 48:41Speaker 1: Right.
- 48:41Speaker 2: Um, and he got these new powers and, and so
- 48:44they're borrowing.
- 48:44Speaker 3: From super fucking jacked, super jacked, super duper jacked, gets
- 48:49massive headaches. Um, but, uh, you know, but so they're
- 48:54borrowing that and which they've done in other movies from
- 48:57the past where they take the source material and And
- 48:59they fit it in differently or they adapt it in
- 49:02a way where it makes more sense or it's more
- 49:05cohesive to a story that they're doing. Which again, like
- 49:09looking ahead to Doomsday, I'm really excited for that because
- 49:12they're borrowing from a really impactful, great story by I
- 49:18think Jonathan Hickman, C.
- 49:20Speaker 2: Wars where doom kind of you.
- 49:23Speaker 3: Know it's a that's a way bigger lead-up than i
- 49:25think we're going to get but it does involve the
- 49:27incursions in a way yeah but you know to see
- 49:31the spider-man story played out where the secondary mutation takes
- 49:34hold and He does get the organic webs.
- 49:37Speaker 2: I think it was weird.
- 49:38Speaker 3: It was interesting to see him play with it back
- 49:40and forth where it's like, nope, don't like that.
- 49:42Speaker 2: I'm going to put a chip on my neck.
- 49:46Speaker 3: And get my web shooters back on.
- 49:52Speaker 2: So it's not like he didn't have anything. He had
- 49:55his web shooters already.
- 49:56Speaker 3: I think it was a really cool play on that
- 50:00where it's like, I don't want this. I want to
- 50:03go back to being the old spider-man with like the
- 50:06stuff i know how to use right so well and
- 50:09i think there was some speaking of kids being in
- 50:11the movie being.
- 50:13Speaker 2: For kids when he first is trying to use the
- 50:16organic webbing and.
- 50:18Speaker 3: It's just kind of shooting out all loosey-goosey all over
- 50:22the place come on we're really gonna split hairs with
- 50:26like six arms if we're making a movie for kids
- 50:29all the adults in the theater are laughing and the
- 50:30kids like oh.
- 50:31Speaker 1: You know I was laughing too because I knew exactly like.
- 50:34Speaker 2: Kid leans over to dad why is that funny dad
- 50:36you'll know when you're older you'll find.
- 50:38Speaker 1: Out in 10 years bub well again I remember I
- 50:41remember again Spider-Man I mean it's one of my favorite
- 50:44characters it's like for me it's Batman and Spider-Man it's
- 50:46like 1A and 1B it's like who's your favorite like
- 50:48depends on the day but like I remember seeing Spider-Man
- 50:511 in the theater and there was that famous scene
- 50:53where he you know shoots Webb for the first time
- 50:55and like he was trying to figure out like how
- 50:56the fuck did I do that You know, it was like.
- 50:58Speaker 2: Go, Webb!
- 50:59Speaker 1: Fly!
- 51:00Speaker 2: Up, up, and away!
- 51:00Speaker 3: It did harken back to that, where he's, like, got
- 51:03Mary Jane under his arm, and he's like, Webb, go.
- 51:06Speaker 2: Webb, stop. Trying to be really.
- 51:07Speaker 1: Yeah, but it's funny, because it's, like, funny, like, a
- 51:09little humor. It's like, and I think it's, like, a full,
- 51:11if anything, it's, like, a full story, because it's like, okay, like, obviously, for, like,
- 51:13you and I, like, we saw that as kids, like, okay,
- 51:15that's funny. But then, like, you know, now we're, like,
- 51:17how we are, and, like, right away, we see Tom
- 51:19Holland trying to do it. It's like, okay, we know
- 51:21exactly what the fuck they're saying. Yeah.
- 51:23Speaker 2: And it's... Yeah, there's not.
- 51:26Speaker 1: It's one of those things where they're doing it, they're
- 51:28not doing it to be gross, but it's like, hey,
- 51:31if you know, you know. It's funny. But I just
- 51:38really enjoy it. And I gotta say, the most redeeming
- 51:40thing other than a gimmick like a Spider-Man street level
- 51:44stuff was Awesome Hulk, man. Like, Angry Hulk.
- 51:50Speaker 3: And I think they did such a great job setting... Like,
- 51:55first of all, getting into.
- 51:56Speaker 2: That naturally, right?
- 51:57Speaker 3: But also, the implications going forward for what that sets
- 52:01up are so.
- 52:02Speaker 2: So cool. Right.
- 52:04Speaker 1: And even though it's small, the amount of chaos that
- 52:09happened in the span of five minutes was insane.
- 52:11Speaker 2: Just from Hulk being unleashed again. Yeah, it's crazy. Right.
- 52:14We missed that. We missed that in the movies for
- 52:16a while.
- 52:17Speaker 3: Like, we never got to see Hulk go toe-to-toe with
- 52:19Thanos a second time.
- 52:21Speaker 1: Well, that's because Hulk was a bitch once.
- 52:24Speaker 2: Yeah, but he had integrated himself. Well, he was scared, right?
- 52:28Speaker 1: Yeah, he was scared because he had his ass kicked. Right.
- 52:32Speaker 2: And so, dude, I hope we get a fucking Hulk movie, man,
- 52:35for real. See, that's the thing.
- 52:37Speaker 1: There's so many people that want it, but I think
- 52:40Universal has the rights, and they just don't want to
- 52:42do it. It's one of those things, I think, where
- 52:46Marvel knows they can make more money just by using
- 52:49him as a side character in movies and trying to
- 52:51find some weird deal to get to do a solo
- 52:54Hulk movie and then have, you know, have to split
- 52:57the bill, have to split the profit or the reward
- 53:00with universal. I think that's all it is.
- 53:02Speaker 3: I think my favorite scenes in the movie had those
- 53:05side characters in it. Hulk Punisher, especially writing the scene
- 53:09where Hulk Hulk's out and is chasing him down the
- 53:11hallway and the camera spinning 360 degrees. That was one
- 53:16of the coolest shots I think I've seen in one
- 53:18of these movies in a long time. Um, Because it
- 53:22perfectly encapsulates that interaction, right? Hulk is just barreling through
- 53:27everything in his path, and Spider-Man is doing everything in
- 53:30his power to just bounce around and get out of
- 53:32there as.
- 53:32Speaker 2: Fast as possible.
- 53:34Speaker 1: And I love how, like, obviously the Punisher's involved. He
- 53:38doesn't know what the fuck's going on. And Spider-Man's like,
- 53:40this is way under your pay grade! And he's like,
- 53:43no shit! But they did such a good job having
- 53:47him not get fucking smacked by the Hulk. That, like,
- 53:51it worked. Because, like, and it's, like, and I love, and, like,
- 53:53here's the thing. I've only recently gotten back into comic books.
- 53:57Pardon me. I'm trying to get back into podcasting. It's
- 54:00a little rough. But, like, I don't know, like, all
- 54:04these crazy comics by heart. I've read a lot of, like,
- 54:06absolute ones. I just read Absolute Green Lantern, by the way.
- 54:09Speaker 2: I don't know if you've read that. Really good, right? I.
- 54:13Speaker 1: Again, I'm not a Green Lantern guy. I just never
- 54:17really liked the whole thing.
- 54:19Speaker 2: You gotta go back and read Blackest Night.
- 54:21Speaker 1: That's what I'm saying. I've heard that one, but I
- 54:23just finished Volume 1. I have Volume 2 on standby.
- 54:26I'm beyond psyched for... I don't want to start... I
- 54:32want to read Absolute Batman again because Volume 3 comes
- 54:34out in a week and I already have it pre-ordered.
- 54:36But the reason is I know... or it's not like
- 54:41I know it's like, it's like a cult, like a
- 54:43nerd culture thing. Like you just, you've seen these famous
- 54:47covers of comic books before from like these really nostalgic,
- 54:51legendary comics. And like, they did so, and like, again,
- 54:54like they did so many, and so they show some
- 54:56of the trailer of course, but they did so many
- 54:59like tips of the hat to some of these comics.
- 55:02And like my favorite, like, of course, like I love
- 55:04like the end, like with the punisher, when we get
- 55:05to the end here in a second, like the punisher shooting, um,
- 55:08like the, the way they did that was great. The
- 55:10Punisher taken to the hospital was good. Obviously Spider-Man, you know,
- 55:14Spider-Man just winning with a guy in his arm. Like
- 55:16it was all just good. And they did such a
- 55:18good job. And here's the thing. I, I like, I'm
- 55:19not saying I was shocked, but like the guy that
- 55:22directed this is the guy who did Shun Chi. Awesome movie. I,
- 55:26I was criminally underrated.
- 55:28Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah.
- 55:29Speaker 1: And his name is Daniel, uh, Daniel, something Creston.
- 55:32Speaker 2: I forget.
- 55:32Speaker 1: Like, I don't know if there's like a middle name
- 55:33in there. Anyway. Um, He was supposed to originally do Endgame.
- 55:39Or not Endgame, Doomsday. Oh, what? Or not technically Kane Dynasty,
- 55:43then it all changed and stuff like that. He was
- 55:45supposed to do that. But now he's doing the Naruto movie,
- 55:51I believe? Shit, okay. Yeah, because people are saying, this
- 55:53guy just took, because the point I'm trying to make
- 55:54is this guy took over Again, he's not just doing
- 56:01the Tom Holland movies. He's doing, with Tom Holland, when
- 56:03Tom Holland worked with a different director for the three movies,
- 56:06the same director, but not with this guy. So it's
- 56:08kind of like, okay, how is that going to mesh?
- 56:10You have a new guy come. It's nice that you
- 56:12can give his new spin on it, but it's like
- 56:14sometimes if it ain't broke, don't fix. But I like
- 56:18the fact that, again, the point I'm trying to make
- 56:21is this movie is very different than the other three.
- 56:25And I love No Way Home. It'll have always a
- 56:27huge place in my heart. especially cause like that was
- 56:29right coming, like right, like there was like right when
- 56:32the pandemic stuff was pretty much cooling down.
- 56:34Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 56:34Speaker 1: It's like movie theaters were packed. It was Christmas. Like,
- 56:37you know, I was like, all right, all's right in
- 56:38the world, you know? But like, I will say this one,
- 56:41I think topped it in terms of like overall now
- 56:44nostalgia and like, you know, like, Oh, what was my heart?
- 56:46Speaker 2: Like, yeah, we're no way home.
- 56:48Speaker 3: Excel was those ensemble cast moments where everybody's getting their
- 56:52little lines and stuff. And of course the nostalgia is
- 56:55a huge factor because we get to see these characters
- 56:57all again.
- 56:57Speaker 2: And, you know, tell a new story. Yeah.
- 57:00Speaker 3: But yeah, I think in terms of actual storytelling, in
- 57:03terms of the script itself, in terms of, you know,
- 57:06the action sequences, I think is where that director really shown,
- 57:10especially the fights.
- 57:11Speaker 2: With the hand, right?
- 57:11Speaker 3: Like completely over the top Kung Fu choreography and sick
- 57:17as hell. Um, and then you threw Spider-Man in there,
- 57:21but I think ninjas, yeah. In terms of like overall,
- 57:24like experience, this was, I think a better movie.
- 57:26Speaker 2: Yeah. Um, you know, aside from those big nostalgia moments. Right.
- 57:31Speaker 1: But where, um, but all the characters mesh well together. Sorry,
- 57:35but everyone like, like everyone got their moment and like,
- 57:37there was so many people in like so many side
- 57:39characters and main characters. Like it never felt.
- 57:42Speaker 2: Dude, I love John in this movie. Yeah.
- 57:44Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 57:44Speaker 2: The Punisher.
- 57:45Speaker 3: I love the Punisher in this movie. I love the
- 57:47Punisher in the show. I love the Punisher in the
- 57:49dare and daredevil. I still have to watch the last
- 57:53kill or whatever.
- 57:54Speaker 1: So do I, uh, I really want to watch it
- 57:57so bad. I've heard nothing but good things.
- 58:00Speaker 3: I think one of my favorite memories from watching this
- 58:03movie was that, spoiler alert, Punisher is going to do
- 58:08Punisher things and is going to just shoot Jean Grey.
- 58:11Speaker 2: She's going to kill a bunch of people.
- 58:14Speaker 3: Kudos to him for doing what he thought was right. Spider-Man,
- 58:18even though his mind was wrapped up, Spider-Sense kicked in,
- 58:21jumped in front, took the bullet.
- 58:23Speaker 2: And it was not just any old bullet. It was
- 58:24like a. 50 caliber bullet. fucking sniper.
- 58:26Speaker 1: Well, it was the callback to the comic. Like it
- 58:28was great.
- 58:30Speaker 2: Right.
- 58:30Speaker 1: Not great that he got shot, but it was great.
- 58:31Speaker 2: No.
- 58:32Speaker 3: Well, but then of course, you know, John Bernthal, Bernthal
- 58:37has humanized the punisher to.
- 58:38Speaker 2: A degree where he's like, I got to save this
- 58:40fucking kid. Right. And so then he gets to the hospital.
- 58:43It's all slow motion and he's like yelling. Right. And
- 58:46I lean over to my buddy and I'm like.
- 58:49Speaker 4: Somebody give me a fucking doctor.
- 58:54Speaker 2: Cause that's what he said. It was awesome.
- 58:58Speaker 1: In his classic Jon Bertholdt voice.
- 59:00Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 59:01Speaker 1: Let me tell you something.
- 59:04Speaker 2: Let me tell you something.
- 59:06Speaker 1: I love John Bernthal.
- 59:07Speaker 3: Yeah, I think those moments between the two of them.
- 59:10And then, you know, fourth wall kind of being a thing.
- 59:14Knowing how integral each Tom Holland and John Bernthal were
- 59:19to the other and getting those roles.
- 59:22Speaker 2: Oh, yeah. Seeing them on screen, it gave you the
- 59:25warm and fuzzies a bit.
- 59:27Speaker 1: For those listening, essentially, when they both did their auditions
- 59:31for their respective characters together they did their live tapes
- 59:35together they had the other one do the live reef
- 59:37and while they like did like hey i'm spider-man hey
- 59:39i'm punisher like this is like what 10 years ago
- 59:41or some shit like it's a crazy full circle thing
- 59:45like the fact that actually happened.
- 59:47Speaker 3: And then even beyond that to know that they were
- 59:49also in the odyssey at the same time this movie
- 59:52came out right crazy summer for those two.
- 59:55Speaker 1: And I, I don't know, I've, I don't know for
- 59:57a fact, but I, I've heard they had scenes together.
- 59:59I know that actually on the trailer, they did have
- 1:00:01one scene together, which is like, what the fuck?
- 1:00:02Speaker 3: Like, but, um, but yeah, I think, you know, the,
- 1:00:09the side characters, those interactions that really drove the story.
- 1:00:13And of course, you know, I think it, it just, yeah,
- 1:00:17it was a feel good movie. And in the, not
- 1:00:19in the way that it like, of course it had
- 1:00:21a positive ending cause it's a superhero movie or whatever.
- 1:00:24Speaker 1: Not all superhero movies have a positive ending.
- 1:00:26Speaker 3: And not part one of Infinity War, but regardless. That one, notoriously,
- 1:00:33bad time for everybody involved. But in the way that
- 1:00:37a good movie makes you feel, I went on a
- 1:00:41fucking ride. I went on a journey, and I got
- 1:00:45something out of it.
- 1:00:46Speaker 1: And then the big question comes, and here's the biggest
- 1:00:50thing that I think they're gonna have to answer and
- 1:00:56we'll get to our review here in a second we
- 1:00:58can get out of here in a second is spoiler
- 1:01:01i mean obviously we said spoiler the post-credit scene now
- 1:01:07i like where i like like it's kind i think
- 1:01:11it's kind of not gonna say obvious like what it's
- 1:01:13hinting at but it's kind of like all right with
- 1:01:15what's coming out you kind of get an idea something
- 1:01:17might be going on not gonna spoil anything or that
- 1:01:19stuff like no but like It's one of those things
- 1:01:21where they have not announced... Here's the thing. Spider-Man is
- 1:01:24not a character, like Tom Holland, is not a character
- 1:01:27that you have... No, don't get me wrong. It'd be
- 1:01:29great for the audience. He is not a character that
- 1:01:32you say, oh, he's going to show up in this
- 1:01:33movie as a surprise. Because, here's the thing. Is Avengers
- 1:01:36going to make a lot of money?
- 1:01:38Speaker 2: Yes.
- 1:01:39Speaker 1: But, as this movie... Okay, here's the perfect way to
- 1:01:42say this. As Spider-Man has shown, okay? Spider-Man has shown.
- 1:01:48I believe domestically... Yeah, domestically... He beat Endgame.
- 1:01:53Speaker 2: Okay? Spider-Man beat the Avengers.
- 1:01:58Speaker 1: That is a guy that, again, it is literally, it's
- 1:02:00not licensed to print money, it's fuck you licensed to
- 1:02:03print money. Like, because it is a guaranteed, you're going
- 1:02:06to make a lot of money. Now, sure, have all
- 1:02:08the Spider-Man movies made a lot of money?
- 1:02:10Speaker 3: No.
- 1:02:10Speaker 1: Like, one time, I think the first Tom Holland movie made, like, no,
- 1:02:12I'm not going to buy it. Oh, it made, like,
- 1:02:14800 million. But, like, it didn't make, like, a gazillion dollars.
- 1:02:18But the thing is, though, every Spider-Man movie has, I'm
- 1:02:21pretty sure, probably a lot has been financially successful. Because
- 1:02:27they always make their money back and then some kind
- 1:02:29of profit. Because it's just, it's literally, it's just that
- 1:02:33IP and that character is so beloved. It's so relatable
- 1:02:36to everybody almost that like, it's like, how can I
- 1:02:39not want to be invested and like see what happens
- 1:02:42with this character that I've invested in? God knows how
- 1:02:44many years, how many dollars in toys, video games, merch, all.
- 1:02:48Speaker 2: That stuff into.
- 1:02:49Speaker 3: And on top of that, it's the portrayal, too. The
- 1:02:51portrayal of the character Tom Holland's performance, too.
- 1:02:55Speaker 1: There's never been a bad... I mean, I've also said there,
- 1:02:58I don't think there's ever been a bad Batman. I
- 1:03:00throw Clooney in there. I'll be the first to admit that.
- 1:03:02Are there other ones better than him? Yes, but I
- 1:03:04don't think it's bad. But there's never been a bad Spider-Man.
- 1:03:07There's a reason why everyone's like, oh my God, I
- 1:03:09love Garfield.
- 1:03:09Speaker 2: I love Holland.
- 1:03:10Speaker 1: You can love them all. They're all good at it.
- 1:03:13Speaker 2: And it's the tone of the movie, too, right? Yeah.
- 1:03:15I think Andrew Garfield struggled because the tone was a
- 1:03:18lot bleaker. You know what I'm saying?
- 1:03:21Speaker 1: Yeah, I'd agree with that.
- 1:03:23Speaker 2: Tom Holland, I think they hit the right pitch. You
- 1:03:26know what I'm saying?
- 1:03:27Speaker 3: And the benefit of having the same director for the
- 1:03:31first three movies was that that tone.
- 1:03:32Speaker 2: Was consistent, right? Mm-hmm. And even when he... The Avengers
- 1:03:37movies are always going to be this outlier, right? Because
- 1:03:40you had so many different.
- 1:03:43Speaker 3: directors make those separate movies and then you had them
- 1:03:47all all those characters.
- 1:03:48Speaker 2: Come together in one movie right so it's a weird
- 1:03:52it's a weird.
- 1:03:53Speaker 3: Thing uh that's happening right but even still like you
- 1:03:58said like what is this what is going to happen
- 1:04:00in what is alluded to in that post-credit scene right
- 1:04:07he is somewhere that's not on earth you know what
- 1:04:10i'm saying and not locatable.
- 1:04:13Speaker 1: I mean, I do think he'll pop up, like, probably
- 1:04:15in the post-credits scene or, like, the ending because, like,
- 1:04:17he's going to have to be in Secret Wars. But, like,
- 1:04:20it's just one of the scenes, like, and that's what's so,
- 1:04:23how I put it. It's the thing that, like, while
- 1:04:26the multiverse saga has not been as successful as they
- 1:04:30want it to be, not all, I'm not getting into
- 1:04:32the whole logistics of why and what happened and all
- 1:04:34that stuff. I've done that to death. But, like, in
- 1:04:36terms of, like, hey, here's why this didn't work or
- 1:04:40this didn't work. It's one of those things where because
- 1:04:42so much of it, if anything, hasn't worked, there's so
- 1:04:46much unknown going into this that it's kind of like
- 1:04:50you don't know. You know who's in it because they've
- 1:04:52announced who's in it. They've obviously some– not like surprise, like, oh,
- 1:04:56so-and-so might show up. It's like, no, like Magneto from
- 1:04:58the Fox– Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart are going to
- 1:05:01be– it's like, wait, what the fuck?
- 1:05:02Speaker 2: Why?
- 1:05:03Speaker 1: But like they've done– and by the way, I'm sorry.
- 1:05:06Speaker 3: Okay.
- 1:05:07Speaker 1: They're already, they're pretty much promoting it. Like, I'm pretty
- 1:05:09much convinced Wolverine and Deadpool made it because they've done
- 1:05:12marketing with them. Like, they've literally, it's literally on all
- 1:05:17their socials.
- 1:05:17Speaker 2: I mean, that Gambit somehow made it into that movie.
- 1:05:20Speaker 1: Well, that's what I'm saying. It's like, it makes sense.
- 1:05:22And like, and here, by the way, they put out
- 1:05:23a list. They put out a list. They're like, here
- 1:05:26are the movies you need to watch before Doomsday. And obviously, Deadpool, Wolverine,
- 1:05:29it's like, oh, there hasn't been, it's like, no, I
- 1:05:31said they put them on there because of Gambit. But also,
- 1:05:32at the same time, it's like, they also probably put
- 1:05:34them on there because of, but, At the same time, too,
- 1:05:38it's that because of how.
- 1:05:42Like I said, how much of a mess, almost, you
- 1:05:45could say the multiverse was. It wasn't all a mess,
- 1:05:47but some of it was. There's so much unknown going
- 1:05:49into this. It's like, you don't know what's going to happen.
- 1:05:52You don't know who's going to show up, unless you read.
- 1:05:54Speaker 2: The spoilers, which, obviously, try to avoid those.
- 1:05:56Speaker 1: But, like, it's just the whole thing. Because, like, obviously,
- 1:05:59it's like, you know this goes to Secret Wars. But, like,
- 1:06:01the nice thing about Disney MCU is... as you said,
- 1:06:06like with the secret wars, there really isn't like, like,
- 1:06:09I mean, at least to my understanding, there's not like
- 1:06:10a lot like preluding into that. It just like goes
- 1:06:12into a kind of thing. But I love, I mean,
- 1:06:16I love that story. It's a great story. Like the,
- 1:06:18I haven't read the old classroom. I read the updated
- 1:06:20one with like miles and all that stuff, but.
- 1:06:22Speaker 2: Like 15 one. Yeah.
- 1:06:23Speaker 1: But there's, and there's so much unknown that like when it,
- 1:06:26like you just go into, but it's like with this,
- 1:06:28you don't, you, you get, if you know the story
- 1:06:29of secret wars, you kind of get what they're going
- 1:06:30with it. But the problem is like I was saying,
- 1:06:33Disney and MCU, like as they should, they like to
- 1:06:36change it up so it's not as predictable, so it's
- 1:06:38not as obvious.
- 1:06:38Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah. Well, and there's also a lot of
- 1:06:40pieces that they don't have.
- 1:06:41Speaker 3: Like, the Beyonders are a big part of that 2015
- 1:06:45Secret Wars.
- 1:06:46Speaker 2: Yeah. The Molecule Man.
- 1:06:48Speaker 1: That's the big one. He's not in that. Well, he's
- 1:06:50not in anything yet.
- 1:06:51Speaker 2: The crux of it, basically.
- 1:06:54Speaker 3: And, of course, the incursions happening are already established in
- 1:06:58the MCU, right? So they have that. But, like, there's
- 1:07:02tools that they don't have. And so, like, the workaround
- 1:07:04for it, is going to be interesting. So, I mean,
- 1:07:08I'm set to see these characters on screen. I'm set
- 1:07:12to see Captain America come back, even though I'm thinking
- 1:07:16he's probably going to be like evil Captain America, maybe
- 1:07:20a take on that story.
- 1:07:22Speaker 1: Give me Nomad, baby.
- 1:07:24Speaker 2: Well, I'm not even talking about that.
- 1:07:25Speaker 3: I'm talking about when Red Skull rewrote his history to
- 1:07:29make him a secret Hydra agent the whole time. And
- 1:07:31so he, Hydra, Captain America, but, I don't think they'll
- 1:07:35do that, but I think they'll do something similar to that.
- 1:07:37Speaker 2: But we'll see what happens, man. He could still lift
- 1:07:40up the hammer, even.
- 1:07:41Speaker 3: Though he was Hydra Captain America or whatever the fuck.
- 1:07:46Speaker 2: People call him Steve-ville. It's a joke. But he was
- 1:07:50still worthy, quote-unquote. It doesn't matter if you're a good
- 1:07:54guy or a bad guy if you're worthy, right? So whatever.
- 1:07:57Either way.
- 1:07:59Speaker 1: Either way, I had to get my tickets because when
- 1:08:02they came out, I was just working. I didn't get any.
- 1:08:04They're all gone. I'll find some. It's just crazy how.
- 1:08:10Again, just the fact that they're all... There's people who
- 1:08:14think this will be a $ 3 billion movie. Honestly, I
- 1:08:17can't blame them.
- 1:08:20Speaker 3: I don't care about how much money it makes. I
- 1:08:22just hope it's a good movie. I hope it's worth
- 1:08:24the time and the effort.
- 1:08:27Speaker 2: Again, like you said, they had to pivot. with the
- 1:08:29King stuff. Yeah. They had to pivot with it.
- 1:08:32Speaker 1: Even if the whole Jonathan Majors thing didn't happen, I
- 1:08:36still think it would because it just wasn't working. It
- 1:08:39just wasn't working. Like I said, I'm not going to
- 1:08:41get into the whole logistics of why, but you could
- 1:08:45just tell it just wasn't hitting like people thought it
- 1:08:48was going to, which is fine. Not everything Marvel does
- 1:08:52is going to work. There were more there were movies
- 1:08:54in the first whatever it was 1921 before endgame that
- 1:08:59they weren't all like you know oh my god this
- 1:09:01movie's amazing it's like okay i.
- 1:09:04Speaker 3: Mean yeah but like the problem they have now is
- 1:09:08that they set the bar so just stupidly.
- 1:09:10Speaker 2: High right right where it was a perfect storm of.
- 1:09:14Speaker 1: Everything With this also, you got Downey coming back and
- 1:09:19you know what he's playing, but you don't know what
- 1:09:21they're going to play with that.
- 1:09:22Speaker 2: There's a lot of interesting things.
- 1:09:25Speaker 3: It's not just about the story they've told so far.
- 1:09:29It's about some external things of Downey Jr. coming back
- 1:09:33as Dr.
- 1:09:34Speaker 2: Doom. The introduction of the Fantastic Four. The looming... The looming....
- 1:09:43Speaker 3: You know, fucking storm cloud of the X-Men in the
- 1:09:47background that we all want so, so bad because that's
- 1:09:50like the ultimate nostalgia for Marvel outside of Spider-Man was
- 1:09:54the X-Men, right?
- 1:09:55Speaker 2: So we all want them to just do it justice.
- 1:09:58Speaker 1: All I care about is just make sure James Marsden
- 1:10:01gets his moment because if anyone got screwed out of
- 1:10:03the whole X-Men thing, it was him.
- 1:10:06Speaker 2: Cyclops. Just dies. I miss my girlfriend so bad.
- 1:10:11Speaker 1: I'm going to sit on this ridge.
- 1:10:13Speaker 2: Die. And Cyclops is such a fucking cool character.
- 1:10:21Speaker 1: That's the thing. He's supposed to be like.
- 1:10:24Speaker 2: He's a badass.
- 1:10:26Speaker 1: He's a badass. He is literally Captain America but badder
- 1:10:30and has all these abilities and obviously gets you fucking
- 1:10:33lasers from his eyes and shit.
- 1:10:34Speaker 2: That's so cool.
- 1:10:35Speaker 3: But even then it's like There's so much more to him.
- 1:10:38He's like just a master tactician, combat, like fucking hand-to-hand shit.
- 1:10:43Speaker 2: It's crazy. Yeah. And then he can shoot lasers at you,
- 1:10:45and it's crazy.
- 1:10:47Speaker 1: It's crazy.
- 1:10:47Speaker 2: I'm excited.
- 1:10:47Speaker 3: I'm playing that new Marvel fighting game, and they announced
- 1:10:51the first character as not just Cyclops, but Cyclops when
- 1:10:56he was possessed by the Phoenix Force.
- 1:10:58Speaker 2: Well, there you go. So he should just destroy everybody.
- 1:11:03In the comics, he literally did.
- 1:11:04Speaker 3: He killed Professor Xavier and, like, fucking remade the Earth
- 1:11:07and shit.
- 1:11:07Speaker 2: It was wild.
- 1:11:08Speaker 1: Jesus Christ.
- 1:11:09Speaker 2: It was wild.
- 1:11:09Speaker 1: It was wild. With that being said, we can get
- 1:11:13out of here. I know it's a little bit late,
- 1:11:14so I do want to... I do want to... I
- 1:11:16know we're just too excited. We're just happy to be back,
- 1:11:18but I do.
- 1:11:19Speaker 2: Want to ask... 210, baby.
- 1:11:21Speaker 1: With that being said, what would you give this brand-new film?
- 1:11:29What would you give it?
- 1:11:31Speaker 2: And here's the thing. I.
- 1:11:33Speaker 1: The one record that it's not, it's obviously going to
- 1:11:35be in the top five all-time movies. The one record
- 1:11:37it probably won't catch is the all-time domestic record, which
- 1:11:40belongs to Star Wars Force Awakens. There was a point, actually,
- 1:11:44not that long ago, where it was literally 50-50, but
- 1:11:47it's one of those scenes where we're like, okay, on
- 1:11:48this day, they need to make this amount, and of course,
- 1:11:51if they don't make it that day, the next day,
- 1:11:53it obviously goes up, and it's only gone, and it's like,
- 1:11:57It just doesn't look like it.
- 1:11:58Speaker 2: Because we don't know when.
- 1:11:59Speaker 1: They're going to pull it. But obviously, at a certain point,
- 1:12:01movie theaters will be like, hey, no one's coming to
- 1:12:03see this movie anymore. Please take it out.
- 1:12:06Speaker 3: But that being said, I'm going to give it a
- 1:12:119 out of 10.
- 1:12:11Speaker 2: 9 slurps out of 10 slurps. All right. I think
- 1:12:16even having missed the first 20 minutes, I.
- 1:12:21Speaker 3: Think it was a great cast, great script, great action
- 1:12:26yep great moments and just a great story a great
- 1:12:32uh another another great addition in the modern spider-man uh
- 1:12:37line of films yeah um i.
- 1:12:44Speaker 1: I will also agree with you i will go i.
- 1:12:48Speaker 2: Will go nine.
- 1:12:52Speaker 1: I will go nine John Bertholz dancing in a Spider-Man
- 1:12:55mask out of ten. Awesome. Because here's the thing. That
- 1:13:02was awesome, by the way. That's great.
- 1:13:07Speaker 3: Nine flaccid web streams out of ten.
- 1:13:13Speaker 1: Nine smelly web streams out of ten. Here's the thing.
- 1:13:17I think this is the best street-level Spider-Man movie ever.
- 1:13:22For me, Spider-Man 2 is still the greatest Spider-Man movie
- 1:13:25ever made. However, I think that movie has gotten better
- 1:13:29with age. I think this movie in maybe five years
- 1:13:35will be in that conversation. Because obviously more Spider-Movies come
- 1:13:37out and shit like that. Because here's the thing. A
- 1:13:40lot of people, I'm not going to say sour, but
- 1:13:42a lot of people have soured on No Way Home.
- 1:13:44They're not as hyped as it used to be. It's like, yeah,
- 1:13:48but the story with what happened made sense. It does. Now,
- 1:13:54I think the hype for it was so big. Obviously,
- 1:13:56everything that happened was kind of predictable. But there were
- 1:13:58so many other things that were teased that didn't come
- 1:14:00into it. I think that's kind of why some people... Obviously,
- 1:14:03of course, Venom. That post-credits scene still pisses me off
- 1:14:06to this day now. Especially with this fucking movie now.
- 1:14:11Because I was like, let's.
- 1:14:12Speaker 2: Wait for it.
- 1:14:13Speaker 1: Are you going to show me something? But I still
- 1:14:17think that movie.
- 1:14:20For me, this is number two. And I'm not, and
- 1:14:22I stress, this is, like, right on, this is literally
- 1:14:26biting the heels of Spider-Man 2. I felt like, again, I,
- 1:14:31the thing I was worried about is, obviously, you know,
- 1:14:35they're going to do the street-level stuff. Obviously, the quote-unquote
- 1:14:39bad guy, you know, that everyone thought it was going
- 1:14:41to be was Jean Grey. But it's like, okay, you're
- 1:14:43going to have Jean Grey, you're going to have all
- 1:14:45these other characters that people know. How are you not
- 1:14:47going to have this thing get convoluted and just super, like, just, just,
- 1:14:52just a full, like, like I can't like focus in
- 1:14:54the story they told and the characters, they all had their,
- 1:14:56they all had their plot points. Like I said, Hulk's
- 1:14:58not in this that long, but like he did a great,
- 1:14:59he obviously did his service and job. Punisher, like anytime
- 1:15:02he was on camera, he, I think stole the show.
- 1:15:05Speaker 2: Absolutely.
- 1:15:06Speaker 1: But, but then like, and also like the Jean Grey
- 1:15:08story and like the Jean, that's the thing, like the
- 1:15:10Jean Grey Spider-Man story they told, it was really good.
- 1:15:12And the way it ended, you know what, that I
- 1:15:14won't spoil. I'll let the audience see that for themselves
- 1:15:16if they haven't seen it yet. The way they like put,
- 1:15:19put it together, I thought, okay, you know what? That's
- 1:15:22a good, that's like, cause I'm not gonna, I didn't
- 1:15:24expect that.
- 1:15:25Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:15:26Speaker 1: Cause it kind of, if anything, it's kind of like
- 1:15:27Spider-Man throwing her thing back at her and it worked.
- 1:15:30I was like, oh shit. But, um, yeah, I, I
- 1:15:34would get, I would go nine out of 10. And
- 1:15:35by the way, like I said, nine, nine, very close.
- 1:15:39Like if anything, if anything, the 10th, the 10th Bernthal
- 1:15:42was just like, I'm sick. Like he's been screaming too much,
- 1:15:46but yeah, I would go nine out of 10. So, uh,
- 1:15:49with that being said, Uh, that you were coming back on.
- 1:15:52It's been a minute.
- 1:15:53Speaker 2: It is always a pleasure.
- 1:15:54Speaker 1: It is always a pleasure having you on. Yes, we
- 1:15:56are done with these long breaks. I mean that I've
- 1:15:58missed this. Um, cause I'm trying to get better with this.
- 1:16:01I'm trying to get better with voice acting. Like I've
- 1:16:03been doing a class for the last eight weeks and
- 1:16:04that's not been the easiest just because of life. And
- 1:16:06then again, nothing bad. Just like life happens. You know
- 1:16:08what I mean? You get busy at work, this and that.
- 1:16:10And it's like, what was it? Uh, um, fuck.
- 1:16:14Speaker 2: What was it?
- 1:16:15Speaker 1: Uh, Sunday. Long weekend, some stuff happened. Like, stuff with
- 1:16:19the car. Car's fine.
- 1:16:20Speaker 2: We're all good.
- 1:16:21Speaker 1: But, like, I came home. You know me. I don't
- 1:16:23take naps. I took a two-hour nap. I felt fucking great.
- 1:16:28Speaker 3: I bet. Yeah.
- 1:16:29Speaker 1: I was supposed to take a 35-minute nap. Nope.
- 1:16:32Speaker 2: Well-timed nap goes hard.
- 1:16:33Speaker 1: It was a great nap. And I woke up afterwards,
- 1:16:35and I felt fantastic. So, with that being said, we'll
- 1:16:40get out of here. But really quick, is there anything
- 1:16:41you need to plug, promote, get off your chest before
- 1:16:44we get the fuck out of here?
- 1:16:45Speaker 2: No. Nah, man. Just be kind. Rewind.
- 1:16:49Speaker 3: Unwind.
- 1:16:49Speaker 1: Rewind. What's that? Anyway. Oh, if anything, actually, I know
- 1:16:55my final message. Somebody didn't get to. But yes, as always,
- 1:16:59OG Patron, thanks for coming on. I'm your favorite barman host.
