- 0:15You listen to the Be Forever Cool podcast.
- 0:17My name is Rex 45. We're going to have some fun
- 0:21tonight, like we do every show. We're going to be talking about
- 0:25the 2015 season. Lewis got a lot to say about the
- 0:292015 season and the point of view that I think he's going to
- 0:33convince people that the world might be flat.
- 0:37With no further ado, though. We're going to keep it moving,
- 0:39get everybody introduced. We're going to also talk about
- 0:42some of these rumors because there's a lot of crazy, silly
- 0:44things happening. You know, it's been a long time
- 0:47that I see somebody try to marry themselves or a motorcycle.
- 0:51So that was pretty cool to see. We're going to chop it up and
- 0:54see what that's about. My name is Rex 45.
- 0:57TJ, man, welcome to the show. How you doing tonight man?
- 1:00I'm doing good man. We got racing ahead of us,
- 1:04testing tomorrow and World Super Bike starting.
- 1:07The season's here, so. I got I got one question for
- 1:11you. You have your protest banner
- 1:16ready because Bill Belichick didn't make the first time to
- 1:21get into the Hall of Fame. I think Eagles fan might have
- 1:24had something to do with it. But we'll see what Reese got to
- 1:26say in a minute. You a little bit upset about
- 1:29that? I mean, as long as he gets in
- 1:32there, that's all I, I, I, that's all that matters to me.
- 1:35I mean, it is kind of disrespectful of like what he's
- 1:38done where he just wasn't considered, you know, his first
- 1:42found Hall of Famer. But I don't know who's really
- 1:45voting. So, you know, we'll see.
- 1:49I'm just worried about getting another ring.
- 1:50Hopefully we can get one this weekend.
- 1:53No doubt, no doubt. Hopefully, man, yeah, 50 people
- 1:56get to decide who gets in that thing.
- 1:58Lawrence Taylor was pretty upset about that.
- 2:00I might have to ask the Giant fan when I talk to Lewis and see
- 2:04what's going on. Reese, man, how you doing, man?
- 2:06Welcome to the show. You had something to do with
- 2:09Bill Belichick not getting in the Hall of Fame.
- 2:12Nah, I had nothing to do with that man.
- 2:14And that's that's above my pay grade.
- 2:18I'll stay on the low 10. You ain't going to come after
- 2:20me. I don't need ice and all them
- 2:22and people coming after me and I'm staying out of that site.
- 2:26Yeah, man. What's the man?
- 2:27It's funny how people play with with other people's lives.
- 2:32What's good, man? Welcome back, man.
- 2:34Few weeks off testing is great. All that fun stuff.
- 2:37Yeah, you know, it's good to be back, just back out working
- 2:41regularly and testing is done for now.
- 2:45He's still got, what, a couple more coming up, I think like
- 2:48four or five more. And, you know, seasons right
- 2:52here. It's on upon us.
- 2:53It's time to get it going all. Right, no doubt.
- 2:55Listen man, there's we're waiting.
- 2:57I mean, you, you get to hear the inside stuff.
- 3:00We on the outside just waiting for for the weekend to start
- 3:05though, you know it, it, it's, it's like waiting for you pair
- 3:08Jordans to come out. Yo, you ain't lying man with all
- 3:12these, you know, a lot of people talk about how super bike is,
- 3:17you know, dead or is man, we counted the the Super bike grid.
- 3:21I mean, there's 13 guys on the Super bike and out of that 13, I
- 3:25mean there's a handful of guys, I don't want to say at least 8
- 3:29to 9 guys that's going to be up there in the top front running.
- 3:31So it's going to be a dog fight, man.
- 3:33This is the, we were saying this is the closest thing you're
- 3:37going to get back to the old AMA days right here.
- 3:39This is it. OK, All right, That's what's up.
- 3:41We're going to talk about that man.
- 3:44Lewis, listen, man, I mean, you got to be happy with Lawrence
- 3:46Taylor saying, you know, if if Billy Belichick had can't get
- 3:50into all the Hall of Fame, you know, this football thing can't
- 3:53be real. We can't take it seriously, this
- 3:55Hall of Fame. No, I, I, I 100% agree with that
- 3:58man. I'm not a, I'm not a Patriots
- 4:00fan. You know, I'm originally a
- 4:02Giants fan. That's, that's what I grew up
- 4:04watching. So every time the Giants would
- 4:06crush the spirits of everybody in New England, I would have a
- 4:09little extra spring in my step that year.
- 4:11But with that said, you can't deny what the man did the time
- 4:14he was there, You know, he took a team that was a good team and
- 4:20he made him a dynasty for, you know, how many years?
- 4:23I mean, well over a decade. These guys were kind of like the
- 4:26perennial favorites in the in the AFC East.
- 4:29They would, you know, I don't know how many AFC division
- 4:32titles they won, you know, but I mean, there's a reason that Tom
- 4:35Brady and him are walking around, I think, with eight
- 4:37rings, but. He, you know, he did get one
- 4:40with you guys. Yeah, yeah, but we we also
- 4:44crushed a couple of their dreams.
- 4:45So as long as he doesn't have like, the full Thanos 12,
- 4:50knowing that the giants kept two rings out of his hands, I sleep
- 4:54good all. Right, no doubt.
- 4:56Now listen, it's, it's 50 people, man.
- 4:59Can you know, sometimes there's only one person that can really
- 5:01change somebody's lives and we're going to talk about that
- 5:03because, you know, for a time it was Rossi and then for a time it
- 5:06was Marquez. You know what I'm saying?
- 5:10One dude as far as motorcycle racing as far as World Moto GP
- 5:14anyway, you know, but you know in every sport you know, there's
- 5:18like one or two guys that make it difficult for a lot of other
- 5:21people and and it. Was a spoiler, man.
- 5:24There's always somebody out there looking to spoiler, and
- 5:26sometimes they don't even know they're doing it, but they're
- 5:29doing it, Yeah, yeah. And they just fly under the
- 5:31radar. You know, no doubt, no doubt.
- 5:34And we're going we're going to talk about that and we talk
- 5:37about GP in the 2015 because you know, rewatch in 2015, you know,
- 5:43you, you like anything, you pick up things you don't see the
- 5:45first time and and and so forth. So, and you know, it it, it's
- 5:51like, I've heard Lorenzo's comment recently and it's just
- 5:56like when you rewatch it and look at it, it's just kind of
- 5:59like, well, yeah, you were fastest at some of the tracks,
- 6:03but not all of the tracks, you know what I'm saying?
- 6:09So it's going to be interesting to see.
- 6:11But let's talk about some of the rumors, you know, Bazaki, which
- 6:16is which is the biggest one, Dainese, which is huge because
- 6:18everybody wants this tuxedo motorcycle scoot now.
- 6:23I don't know. I mean that many people want to
- 6:25marry their bike, apparently. I mean, it's a cool suit, man.
- 6:28I mean, I give him that. You know, I've seen, I've seen
- 6:31tuxedo suits before. The thing is, you've never seen
- 6:33a tuxedo suit on a Moto GP rider.
- 6:37And the full production that Aprelia put into it, like
- 6:39Aprelia's PR team really went all out on this program.
- 6:43I knew or I had heard rumors about possibly something like
- 6:47this happening, but I didn't know what's going to happen,
- 6:49when it was going to happen. So when I woke up this morning
- 6:51and I looked at my WhatsApp, the internal WhatsApp, and I saw the
- 6:55pictures, I was like, all right, let's see how this, let's see
- 6:59how this goes. And then when Oprelia tried to
- 7:02drop in 1st the still images and then the full like, I think it's
- 7:06like a 3 1/2 minute video of like the full ceremony.
- 7:09And I was just like, yeah, this is the kind of, this is the kind
- 7:12of fun stuff that, you know, this is kind of the paddock
- 7:15stuff that people don't see. Like people think that everybody
- 7:18in the paddock is like these stuffy business guys.
- 7:21It's just, it's a track day with a lot of money is what these
- 7:24guys are doing. So they still have a ton of fun
- 7:26when they doing these events. And I'm glad that Aprilia got
- 7:29their moment to shine with their little viral moment.
- 7:31But, but I think it's cool because I was, I was hoping that
- 7:35this contract would get settled quickly because everybody kind
- 7:38of knew Bazecki was going to stay with a Prelia.
- 7:40But now it's, you know, it's, it's known he's going to be with
- 7:43a Prelia till 28. And I honestly think he'll be
- 7:46with a Prelia beyond that because I believe there's some
- 7:50extra clauses in there that can kind of even add an additional 2
- 7:53years to this contract. Yeah, I, I, I think he could be
- 7:58the, the next Max Biagio for Prolia.
- 8:02You know, TJ, you know, what do you think about the, the suit,
- 8:06the cleverness of it? It's nice to see it that much
- 8:10fun in the Moto GP paddock again.
- 8:12And to convince that many high-powered people to to to go
- 8:16along with it is it's a good thing for guys to know that they
- 8:20can go marry their bike or is a good thing for guys to know they
- 8:23can get a two year marriage. I mean, it's a good thing that,
- 8:28you know, you can go marry your bike.
- 8:29He's setting trends right now. And I mean, I don't know who's
- 8:32going to top this. Like this is a clever way to go
- 8:36into a new era, you know, saying that he's committed and shout
- 8:41out to Guy and AC pulling off a spectacular suit.
- 8:44I mean, that suits pretty nice. Like, I mean, I'm sure
- 8:48somebody's going to want to ride in a tuxedo suit now, you know,
- 8:51so it's it's a nice idea. And then and Bozecki is
- 8:55definitely a top rider and definitely improving.
- 9:00So like, I'm decided to see what he's going to do going into 2026
- 9:04and 2027 because I was definitely rooting for him last
- 9:07year and I know Martine got a girlfriend but I'm sure he's
- 9:11jealous. Yeah, yeah, I think so.
- 9:15And you know, at the Operono race, there was a guy in a suit,
- 9:20you know, looking like a overall.
- 9:23But you know, what Bizaki did is, is it's a class act, right?
- 9:26And he's showing how class he is and he's showing what he's
- 9:28bringing to Moto GP and have a little bit of fun at the at the
- 9:33same time. So I agree.
- 9:35I, I think Dineze is going to be selling this kind of suit and,
- 9:39you know, we just got to see what the wedding dress is, is
- 9:42going to look like. What are your thoughts on, you
- 9:45know, them signing beds for another two years signing,
- 9:48signing them for two years before the season even start?
- 9:50Because Once Upon a time it was like, you know, mid season.
- 9:53We were waiting for the summer break before contracts started,
- 9:56you know, getting rolled out. But now you know, they, they,
- 10:00they apparently, you know, they got money to spend.
- 10:05I mean, I've been my idea is just like, you are one of the
- 10:10top writers, you want to get locked in as soon as you can.
- 10:13You know, I mean, I think you're smart for a position he's in to
- 10:18to go ahead and feel confident that he can help develop Prolia.
- 10:24But yeah, I think it's smart just to get that out the way so
- 10:27he can focus on 2026 and then 2027.
- 10:31He's already set in stone, yeah, So you don't want to be that
- 10:35last couple of riders still fighting why the season's going
- 10:38on. Can't.
- 10:39Get a contract. No doubt, no doubt.
- 10:41Reese, what are your thoughts, man?
- 10:42You've been in this game for a long time.
- 10:45Did you and your boys get a get ALU and the the staff get a kick
- 10:49out of a scene, something like this?
- 10:51And does that spark any kind of like, Oh well, what are we going
- 10:54to do when we do this? What are we going to do when we
- 10:56do that? Because that it was fun to see.
- 10:58And I haven't seen something like that since really the Rossi
- 11:01days and doing the silly night mess with Biaggi and some of
- 11:04these other writers when, you know, he was winning
- 11:06championships and and, you know, having these skits, for lack of
- 11:10a better word. I mean, it was fun to see.
- 11:13I mean, be honest. I mean, he beat me to the punch
- 11:15because I was always the one younger saying I wish I could
- 11:17just marry my wife, be a lot easier than marrying a woman,
- 11:19you know. But I marry my wife.
- 11:21But you know, they don't need, they don't ask for money.
- 11:24They argue nothing. They ain't got to hear the
- 11:26arguments. You know, it's a lot easier.
- 11:28But it was fun to see, you know, something different.
- 11:31I mean, it's like the old Rossi days.
- 11:33I mean, that's how I got into watching Rossi.
- 11:36You know, just always wanted to see something, what he was going
- 11:38to do at the end of the race or what kind of skit he was going
- 11:41to do for that win. So I mean, that was something
- 11:44nice to see. And it's like it, like TJ said,
- 11:46I mean, it's just get, you know, get the signing and get it all
- 11:50done with it. So you can focus on this season
- 11:53and with the new era coming up in the 27, now you can focus on
- 11:56a whole new project. Right, right, right.
- 12:00No, no, no doubt there. Let's bring everyone in.
- 12:05You know, guys, is this do you think that Aprilia gave him
- 12:12enough cash to keep him happy or you think they wanted to sign
- 12:16them so they're trying to catch a a bigger fish?
- 12:19We start with Lewis, man. I think every company has like
- 12:24their their top priority. So like Ducati, I think Marquez
- 12:28is their top priority. Aprilia, I think Bez was the top
- 12:32priority, KTMI think Acosta, like every manufacturer, every
- 12:36factory team has those top priorities that they want to try
- 12:39to lock in. And obviously Aprilia didn't
- 12:42want to take the chance of somebody else trying to scoop up
- 12:45Bazecki after the season he had last year.
- 12:47I mean, he was phenomenal on the bike.
- 12:49He was able to develop the bike in a way that it really hasn't
- 12:53moved before. I mean, the Polis Barbro, I'll
- 12:55be very honest with you. I mean, Alacius Barbro is a is
- 12:58actually a very, very good development rider.
- 13:00There was a reason why he was with a previous for so long and
- 13:03why the project came along so, so well over the years, even
- 13:06though he didn't get to win many times, he did help develop that
- 13:09bike over a very long period of time.
- 13:12But Bazecki was able to take it to that next step that, you
- 13:15know, whatever reason Alexei kind of hit his threshold,
- 13:19couldn't go past it and Bazecki went past it.
- 13:21You know, Bazecki won multiple races in one year, was
- 13:24competitive the almost the entire second-half of the year
- 13:28really took it to mark went from, at one point, I think he
- 13:30was like 7th in the championships and finished third
- 13:33in the championship. So I mean, he leapfrogged a lot
- 13:36of guys when they started to suffer.
- 13:37He was just there there knocking on the door, knocking on the
- 13:41door. So I think it's good that they
- 13:43did this because I, I hate, you know, I, I hate to say deserve
- 13:47it because nobody deserves it. You negotiate for it.
- 13:50But he negotiated by what he did on the on the track.
- 13:55He didn't negotiate it in the in the news.
- 13:57He didn't negotiate it in the media saying, oh, if this team
- 14:00don't hire me, then you're going to see what they missing.
- 14:03You know, he went out there, he did the work, Aprelia saw the
- 14:07work and realize, you know what, we need to lock this guy in
- 14:10before somebody else comes and scoops him up because somebody
- 14:12else is going to want to scoop him up.
- 14:14You know, he's a young guy, he's got a lot of talent and I think
- 14:17his ceiling is still very much higher than what he is now.
- 14:20I think he still has a lot more in reserve and with the right
- 14:24bike and the right team, he's going to keep growing over
- 14:26years. I mean, This is why I think
- 14:28Aprelia wants to lock him in now.
- 14:30Maybe lock him in like you said, long time this.
- 14:32He might be this generations Aprelia Max Piagi.
- 14:37I I I agree, TJ, man, what does that mean for oh, hey, Martine,
- 14:44you think that he's going to resign?
- 14:45I know we're hearing rumors that he's going other places and all
- 14:49that, but you know, I'm trying to think, I'm trying to.
- 14:53It's like, it's like. Got to you, got to earn it out.
- 14:57Yeah, it's like Antonio Brown signing to, you know, Tampa, you
- 15:03know what I'm saying? One year was great.
- 15:04Second year, not so much. You know, Antonio Barone was out
- 15:10out of the league after that. I mean, and you would think that
- 15:15Martine would want to sign back with a pro year.
- 15:18That would be like the right thing to say.
- 15:19Look, man, I I didn't finish what I started the second-half
- 15:22of this year. I'm going to, I'm going to try
- 15:24to match what Bazecki did his first year.
- 15:27That's a good benchmark to to to aim for and even surpass that.
- 15:31What are your thoughts on what's going to happen to Martine?
- 15:35I mean, he needs to be more humble.
- 15:37I mean, like his his demeanor on certain things.
- 15:41Like he like he's trying to tell the the manufacturers what he
- 15:46wants to do when you know, you got to you got to earn it.
- 15:48I mean, he did win a championship.
- 15:51He definitely fought really hard with the year before that,
- 15:54almost won it and he was on a Ducati, one of the best bikes.
- 15:58So now that he's switching up, he did get hurt.
- 16:01Like it's a reset for himself. He just got to come back to
- 16:04reality, understand the situation and like, you know,
- 16:07it's it's not just going to be handed over to him.
- 16:10Like, hey, all right, we're going to make you the best
- 16:12rider. Like you still got to prove
- 16:14yourself. And I just think I don't think
- 16:17like he's he's in jeopardy, but like, you know, he needs to look
- 16:20at this situation like a prayer year.
- 16:22We're doing good things and I'm here to try to be better than
- 16:27Mizuki and and we can be the best constructive, you know,
- 16:31manufacturer. So, you know, he got to look up
- 16:36and try to get his, you know, feedback together and be in
- 16:39shape ready for the season because the past two seasons
- 16:42wasn't that well. All right, all right.
- 16:46I mean, let me see if I can get my, my, my clicking the right
- 16:49buttons, right, Reese, man, it's probably when you know, people
- 16:53get the same initials, but you know, you're it, you know, you,
- 17:00you have a bird's eye view from what's happened.
- 17:04And do you look at the situation with Bazecki?
- 17:11Because I don't think Bazecki gets enough respect.
- 17:15I was looking at their stats earlier, other overall stats.
- 17:19And you know, it's like I'm seeing quarter hour with sign
- 17:22like some $50 million deal. But when you look at the win
- 17:25loss column, they like they all, they all right, They're touching
- 17:29each other. You know what?
- 17:31You know what? How do you look at?
- 17:32You know, this is a good look for Bizaki.
- 17:34Sign in. Where Martinez, do you think
- 17:37that, you know, as you heard Lewis say, it's what you
- 17:40negotiate, You know, you're hoping that, you know, Bazecki
- 17:45negotiated a salary like a Quatre Aurora because honestly,
- 17:48when you look at their stats on paper, it's just kind of like,
- 17:51how's this dude worth 15? And I mean, he got the one world
- 17:54title, obviously, But outside of that, you know, how is he
- 17:58commanding 17? And, you know, are we?
- 18:02Bazecki should be grateful for getting a factory seat.
- 18:06I mean, it's easy. I mean, like, like Lewis said,
- 18:08he negotiated the seat when you're a rider was hurt.
- 18:13He stepped up and filled that void.
- 18:16He didn't when he stepped up to fill the void, he didn't do it.
- 18:19You know, where he wanted to be in the media.
- 18:22He wanted to talk bad or he just let the his riding do his
- 18:26talking. He stepped up, he wanted to do
- 18:29and like, you know, he stepped up and just kept knocking at the
- 18:31door, kept going, kept going each round.
- 18:34And then you, you know, you're up there with the top, the top
- 18:37guy that that almost one of the, one of the great ones of a
- 18:41Marquez and he's out there pushing him to the limit of
- 18:44beating him. So I mean, at that point you
- 18:48have to give it to him because he helped develop your bike.
- 18:53He helped put your bike on top when the rider you gave a crap
- 18:58ton of money to was kicking you in your back by kicking you in
- 19:02your back and everything else. I mean, at this point, if I was,
- 19:07that was me and I'm on the team and I'm the guy and I'm like, I
- 19:10wouldn't even want to resign. Mark all day.
- 19:13Like for what? So you can kick us down again
- 19:15now we're good. Finish your contract and get
- 19:17out. I want no one to honor
- 19:19obligations. I mean, you wanted to take us to
- 19:22court for, for whatever odd reason, you know, you got
- 19:26obligation that you signed on the dotted line that you need to
- 19:28finish and you want to leave. Yeah.
- 19:31So I just don't do that. It'd be much better if you put
- 19:34the time in, you know, it's, you know, you know, like Mike
- 19:37Tomlin, you know, the Steelers are offering whatever he wants
- 19:40because he put the time in, you know what I'm saying?
- 19:42He he earned that and they rewarded him.
- 19:45Martine hasn't been rewarded, hasn't earned anything, but but
- 19:50he's, you know, he's he. I mean, he's earned a couple of
- 19:54hospital bills. Yeah, yeah, exactly, exactly.
- 19:57He's he, you know, he, he's trying to.
- 20:00I mean, here he got a title. So it, it's kind of why, like,
- 20:03why not make a home for yourself?
- 20:04It, it's to me, it's kind of weird because like you didn't
- 20:08give it, you didn't get a chance to prove yourself and this bike
- 20:11finished in the top three and you and you and you're looking
- 20:14to go somewhere else. I, I, I, it's kind of weird that
- 20:17you don't want to like to, to be like, all right, 2626, I'm going
- 20:20to, this is going to be my year to, to be top three, if not
- 20:24better. Right.
- 20:26I mean, I, I have a little saying about that.
- 20:28I mean personally coming from the inside, I mean the years
- 20:32that you were good on Ducati, you and the equipment were here.
- 20:39The rest of the equipment from anybody else was back here.
- 20:44The riders were up here, but the equipment couldn't match their
- 20:47riding style. So when you when you won that
- 20:50championship, you won the best equipment at that time.
- 20:56So now that a rider that is better than you has matched your
- 21:01skill level as surpassed your skill level, but the equipment
- 21:05has matched up, you can't touch him, which is a market.
- 21:09And you know, so now you're riding a, you're riding not the
- 21:15top equipment on the paddock. And anytime I, oh, I can't ride
- 21:17it, I don't want to do it. I want to get out of here.
- 21:19So that just to me, that tells me you can't.
- 21:23You can ride, but you're not as good as you thought you were.
- 21:27Yeah, it it seems like it because you know, like I like,
- 21:30you know, per year was top three.
- 21:32So it's kind of weird that you would go to Yamaha or or Honda
- 21:36and expect to do something better like that that like that.
- 21:40That is a compute. But Lewis, I'll let you jump in
- 21:43and tell us about the rumours that we've missed because I know
- 21:47your ear is so close to the ground.
- 21:49What do you want to start with man?
- 21:52I don't know if it's still, it's still early in the season.
- 21:54So there's still a lot of rumors swirling.
- 21:57It's hard to believe everything that's out there.
- 21:59So obviously, you know, one of the rumors is that Peko is
- 22:02pretty much out of Ducati. He's trying to find a home
- 22:05either with Aprilia or with Honda.
- 22:11Some people are like even saying possibly with Yamaha because the
- 22:14other rumor is Quadraro says that there's only conversations
- 22:18going on with Honda, but other people say that it's signed,
- 22:21sealed and delivered that he's going to be at Honda.
- 22:23So now he's going to go to Honda.
- 22:24Who's going to leave Honda? Is it Mira Marini?
- 22:28So like there's just so many seats moving around.
- 22:30You know, KTM is saying they want Acosta, but at the same
- 22:33time the VR46 team is saying that they have a Costa and then
- 22:38some people are saying that he's going directly to the factory
- 22:41team if Pekko leaves. So, you know, it's it's just
- 22:45strings going from here to there, like every rider is going
- 22:48somewhere. I think it's easier to list the
- 22:51guys that are going to be out of a job.
- 22:53All right, well, who's going to be a?
- 22:56Job we'll we'll save that for Part 2.
- 22:57We'll start with TJ who you want, Quatarara or Pekko?
- 23:02Where should either of them go? We'll, we'll start with TJ, who
- 23:06you going to pick and then Reese, you can pick the other
- 23:08person and I'll leave either I'll take the third Acosta or
- 23:13whoever is left. So who are you going to pick,
- 23:15Tji? Mean I'll I'll say quarter out
- 23:20because you know he's been promised, you know a better bike
- 23:26and they switched to the V4 and it's still not strong, but you
- 23:31know Honda has been developing and they also have the V4.
- 23:34So feel like they want him and they've been paying mark Marquez
- 23:39as well. So they're looking for.
- 23:42A whole, a whole setting. Mark Marquez.
- 23:45Come on man, Come on. No, no, no, no, no, no, not at
- 23:47all. Not at all.
- 23:48But you know, I'm just saying like, you know, they're looking
- 23:52for a rider that can, you know, possibly longevity and maybe
- 23:56caught around with their their new guys.
- 23:58So I figured that that would happen over that go, but we'll
- 24:02see. So you think it'll be a good
- 24:03look for for Quatro to leave Yamaha at this point and go
- 24:07Honda? I guess Honda.
- 24:11If it is for the 2027, I mean like he's going to have to
- 24:15decide soon. Like I, I don't have you got to
- 24:18wait to this testing tomorrow to see what's going on with this
- 24:21before you know, but you know, like he's the one that speaks in
- 24:25the meeting and like, you know, kind of speaks his mind of
- 24:28proposed to the otherwise unless things happen.
- 24:30So he's at this point of his career where he like, you know,
- 24:35you got to make that move because he's running out of
- 24:36time. OK, all right, all right.
- 24:38I mean, I think Lewis teacher is rubbing off on you.
- 24:41He's walking that fine line. You know, we can see Depends.
- 24:45Read who you pick. And Pekko.
- 24:48I know he's your guy. So where he going to go?
- 24:52Oh, you want to talk about? That's your guy.
- 24:55But I'm going to talk about Pekka.
- 24:57I mean with Pekka, First things first, we're going into 27,
- 25:03right? Where are you going?
- 25:05That's my key. Everybody's moving around.
- 25:08Technically, it's not moving for a better bike.
- 25:11You're moving for a, you're moving for a bag.
- 25:13Let's keep it on. Let's keep a spade, a spade.
- 25:15You're moving for a bag because at 27 everybody starts from
- 25:19Ground Zero. So you don't know who's going to
- 25:21be a better bike. You don't know where you going,
- 25:23you don't know what's going to be a better bike.
- 25:24Right now there's a whole different bike, so.
- 25:28But I mean, we're talking about Pekka.
- 25:30I mean, for him to leave Ducati, I think it's kind of crazy
- 25:34because that bike is proven. The team is proven.
- 25:37It's, I mean, they got a lot of backing, I mean a hell of a lot
- 25:41of backing with that Volkswagen Group and Lambeau and everything
- 25:44else so. Said hey, you know, nobody
- 25:47called me. He went to KTM.
- 25:52Maybe Ducati ain't ain't calling Pekka.
- 25:57I don't know. Navi said the same thing matter
- 26:01of fact. I mean, but Pekka has
- 26:03championships though. That's the only thing he has
- 26:05some championships. He has the number one place in a
- 26:07couple years. And it don't get me go back to
- 26:09the beginning of the season and said why would you time Marquez
- 26:12when the students got 2 championships and I know why but
- 26:16and he would have won this year maybe.
- 26:19Oh, Pat didn't know he would though.
- 26:21But you're the one most crashes. But you know what I mean it it's
- 26:24weird for Ducati to sign a guy that won two championships,
- 26:27right? They usually would.
- 26:29In the past they were bringing in people who they wanted in
- 26:31World Super Bike or AMA or you start from Ground Zero and build
- 26:36up. So it was weird for them to sign
- 26:38Marquez. But anyway.
- 26:40I mean, you're a Ducati guy, so, you know, I mean, you guys,
- 26:43Ducati is cut throat. I mean, if you don't win, they
- 26:46want to cut your head off and send you out.
- 26:48Yeah. And they all what you've done
- 26:49for me lately. So it's like really, come on,
- 26:52man. I won two championships, you
- 26:54know. And I feel that's the reason why
- 26:55Petco wouldn't want to leave, because he didn't feel like he's
- 27:01wanted and he won them two championships after a long,
- 27:04long, long, long drought. That that's y'all, that's,
- 27:09that's you and the red team over there, you know, I mean y'all,
- 27:11you know, y'all little cult right there.
- 27:13Y'all got that little cult history and it's like y'all
- 27:16exclusive? I've, I've already been on
- 27:19record stating my, my disapproval of the decisions
- 27:22that were made in the last year and a half.
- 27:27And so if it doesn't work out, because the crazy thing is this,
- 27:29I was thinking about this after watching the 2015 season and
- 27:33it's just kind of like at one time Ducati had so many Italians
- 27:36on their bikes. And now we like, we're going to
- 27:40be like down to who, you know what I'm saying?
- 27:43So it's it's kind of weird to see.
- 27:45And I can see why Biaggi might have said Aprilia is the only
- 27:48true Italian brand. I mean, at this point, yeah,
- 27:53because Becca leaves. Who do y'all have?
- 27:57That's it. Because Frank, Because Bagnaya
- 27:59or or not Bagnaya, Mobidelli or the the gin, Antonio is going to
- 28:06have to go. Well, the Ginny Tonio's going to
- 28:09stay, Morbidelli's going to go home or he's going to go to the
- 28:12world too. But he's one of the people that
- 28:14Lewis talking about that who's going to be out and he probably
- 28:18won. Again man, looking at the stats,
- 28:20Morbidelli got more wins than than than did you?
- 28:24It's crazy. Like I know he was a he's a dumb
- 28:26ass last year. Looking at his stats, bro he got
- 28:31he got Qatarara's been on the podium more than him, but Mobile
- 28:37got more wins. It's crazy.
- 28:38And then from a business point, yes, but then from an also
- 28:41business point who cost more money.
- 28:45Yeah, but if you win, you make more money.
- 28:47If you come in 8th you make less money.
- 28:49So you also got. Right.
- 28:52But then if you crash them swing arms or crashing them parts,
- 28:54they're costing 40 grand and 50 grand.
- 28:57Like God damn. Yeah, but if you give me five
- 28:59wins and the other guy gives me 7/12 places, I'll let you crash
- 29:07a couple extra bikes, Man, when you crash it from 12 place, it
- 29:11hurts a lot more than when you crash it from 2nd place at the
- 29:15end of the day. How many fines we got to put out
- 29:18for you doing dumb shit? Yeah, that's different.
- 29:21That's that's, that's, that's stupidity came.
- 29:24There's no price tag on stupidity.
- 29:27It's priceless. He's definitely.
- 29:31Shooting himself in the foot and and the crazy part is his record
- 29:35is that good with him shooting himself in the foot.
- 29:37You know what I'm saying? That's every one thing.
- 29:39If he like he could have, but his record is really good and
- 29:42he's doing dumb ish show. Imagine if he didn't.
- 29:45I'll say it. It looks like Acosta.
- 29:47It sounds like Acosta is a done deal as far as you know, going
- 29:51to Ducati, wherever he ends up. I mean, I think it's a it's hard
- 29:57to say if it's a win for him because we don't know if KT we
- 30:00don't know what as as Reese said, we don't know what any of
- 30:03the bikes are going to do in 2000, in 2027.
- 30:06So who knows who could who could win it that year?
- 30:09That's a year that they could steal it like Mayor did or you
- 30:12know, Quattrara did that that kind of thing.
- 30:15Some people may not argue he didn't steal it, but the
- 30:17pandemic was around and you know, it was, it was troubling
- 30:21in times and stuff like that. But you got to show up, you
- 30:25know, So it'll be, it'll be interesting to see for sure what
- 30:29else you got, Lewis. Let me think, who else are we
- 30:33talking about? I mean, right now the on the
- 30:36Honda side it's, you know, they, they locked in a couple of guys,
- 30:39but who's going to be gone from Honda?
- 30:41Is it going to be Mir or is it going to be Marini?
- 30:44I think Marini will probably be gone before Mir just because
- 30:49Mirror is still a bigger name. Marini hasn't really proven
- 30:52himself even though he'd had a great second-half of last year.
- 30:57You know? I think Honda is probably going
- 30:59to wait until the middle of the season to pick because I don't
- 31:01think either one of them is a runaway favorite.
- 31:03But if I had to pick one to stay, it would be Mirror Parent
- 31:08Mirror with either Acosta or Martine would be great, you
- 31:15know, But I would tell any manufacturer at this point, you
- 31:17know, Martine is a talent, but he's like the hot chick that's
- 31:21probably going to cheat on you. Like, do you really want to take
- 31:23her out, man? Because she's probably going to
- 31:25do your dirty at some point. And and and Luca only had like a
- 31:29couple of crashes last year, so. You know, I think he had the
- 31:32least crashes of anybody, but he was also out for a few because
- 31:35of this crash at Suzuka. But when he came back from
- 31:40Suzuka, whatever they crashed him into, he got a way better at
- 31:44riding the bike man. So maybe he needed a crash to to
- 31:48get his his mojo back because after he came back from that
- 31:51incident, he was consistently top eight, top seven.
- 31:55I mean, he was there, there, there.
- 31:57So again, this also shows that the Honda's got a lot of
- 31:59progression versus the Yamaha, which in this first Test
- 32:03actually went, what was it a second and a half slower than it
- 32:06did last year on the inline 4. It's actually going slower on
- 32:10the V4, so you know that's not the direction a new bike should
- 32:15be going. So this might be another reason
- 32:17why Quadraro is looking to hit the eject button as soon as
- 32:20possible. But how much, you know, how much
- 32:22of that? You know, we've talked about
- 32:23this. We've seen some riders take six
- 32:25months to get up to speed. We talked about Bazecki.
- 32:29You know how you know, the second-half of the season he
- 32:31came into his own. We just had Luca came into his
- 32:35home after crashing. But, you know, half a season or
- 32:37whatever the case may be, you know, you know.
- 32:40Yeah, but Bartiraro's been on the Yamaha so long, man, at this
- 32:43point it's like. Yeah, but.
- 32:45Sometimes you just got to go. It's, it's, it's still, you
- 32:48know, still got to feel a little different.
- 32:50I mean, we. Yeah, I feel like he should be
- 32:53given more room, saying give me some more time to tell.
- 32:56And he's saying I'm ready to go. And sometimes, you know, it
- 32:59could be like a Kevin Garnett situation or some of these other
- 33:02guys that they just, you know, they stayed too long and.
- 33:05And I think that's the situation with him.
- 33:07I think he was too loyal for too long to that one brand thinking
- 33:11like, you know, I'm going to be a legacy Yamaha person, but they
- 33:14just haven't had a bike that was competitive.
- 33:17And you know, he this is a guy that wants to win.
- 33:20Man, this I, I still think Cuatararo is one of, if not the
- 33:23best smooth rider in the paddock.
- 33:27I mean, the dude is silky, but you know, same thing with
- 33:32Marquez that there comes a time that it's like, look, I've been
- 33:34loyal to this brand a long time. I've flown the company flag, but
- 33:37now I got to look out for myself.
- 33:39You know, I can't just keep coming out here risking my life
- 33:42because this isn't, you know, we're not playing basketball
- 33:44here. Like every time I put this
- 33:45helmet on might be the last time I put this helmet on.
- 33:48I need to make start making this count.
- 33:50You know I can't just be crashing or racing for 11th
- 33:53place or the 1st 3 laps. You know I'm out front looking
- 33:56like I'm on fire and by lap five I'm in 8th place and I'm about
- 34:00to get passed by rookie his first year on the shit box
- 34:03behind me because the shit box I got is worse than the shit box
- 34:05he got. And I know I'm faster than his
- 34:08ass but guess what man? I'm on a shit box.
- 34:10That's why I said that little Penguin being chased by that
- 34:13seal meme to everybody because that's what Yamaha looks like.
- 34:17The first 3 laps they out there flipping and flapping thinking
- 34:19they get away and that seal is just.
- 34:26You think, You think. I'll go back to Honda keeping
- 34:30Mayor Marini, you know, numbers guys.
- 34:34So I think with the past two seasons Mayor had or how many
- 34:37crashes he had and bad luck, you would not project that going
- 34:42into next season. You would hope that wouldn't
- 34:43happen. Opposed to saving money and
- 34:46having Marini if. I was Honda, honestly I would
- 34:49wait for the first 5-6 events of the year and just see how things
- 34:54are going before I pull a trigger on either one of them
- 34:56because it's not like either one of them.
- 34:58Nobody's knocking down the door to get Mirror or Marini right
- 35:01now. It's not like people are like
- 35:03kicking in the door. Like I got to get Marini, I got
- 35:04to get him right now. Like bro there's like 8 other
- 35:07guys before Marini yesterday. I think.
- 35:09I think KTM would pick up a Marini.
- 35:11KTM could pick up anybody else wanting to ride that bike at
- 35:13this point as long as they can get them for cheap because they
- 35:16can't afford to pay people very much.
- 35:20But I honestly, I think Honda's in the best position to give
- 35:24their both of their guys a little time.
- 35:25I think VR46 is in a position that they can give both of their
- 35:28guys a little time. Ducati is not in that position.
- 35:32They got to lock Marquez in really a knock, lock their guy
- 35:36in and KTM, you know, as much as they want to lock in Acosta, I
- 35:39just don't think it's going to happen man.
- 35:41I think Acosta is ready to just pull the eject button on KTM all
- 35:44together and and find a whole new career somewhere.
- 35:47And I think that's going to be mostly on his age.
- 35:50I think it's one of those things like we've seen Zarko in the
- 35:52past said he wish you to handle situations differently.
- 35:56I think Acosta, if he does leave KTM, I think later in life he'll
- 36:01say he probably was a decision he wish he hadn't made.
- 36:03Because you know, you, you as as you guys know, you know, you
- 36:09have to weather the storm. If you know, regular workers,
- 36:12regular people, you know what I'm saying?
- 36:15You know, we got to weather the storm.
- 36:17We don't just get to go. Oh, let's, you know, we're, you
- 36:19know, oh, we're not making the same bonus this year.
- 36:22Let me go, you know. That's not an option I.
- 36:27Wish if I was a Costa man and again I don't know his
- 36:30management team or anything like that, I would really consider
- 36:35not going to Ducati even though it's like the considered the
- 36:39most competitive bike. You know you're a top rider, the
- 36:43last thing you want to do is be second fiddle to Mark Marquez.
- 36:46Well, not even Mark. Sorry not to cut you off, but
- 36:48not. Even to Alex Marquez, too,
- 36:49you're third fiddle. And Furman.
- 36:52You're 4th. Fiddle just going down the list.
- 36:57You're not even playing in the band.
- 36:59You hoping somebody get hurt so you could play in the band at
- 37:01that point because Furman he's locked for for for a minute with
- 37:04Ducat Scotty Ducati put a lot of chips on Fuhrman.
- 37:08Alex might be leaving at the end of this year Gracini to go
- 37:11somewhere else. But as a as a if I was going to
- 37:15give Acosta some advice, I'd be like, look, man, look at the
- 37:18Honda route because Honda is is all in they're really developing
- 37:22this bike. If you can go and win on that
- 37:24bike and become like a staple Honda rider, you'll have a a
- 37:28career for life, right? Honda will keep you forever.
- 37:31And I and I can see Honda picking him over Martine just
- 37:34based on past, past business experiences, you know, So yeah,
- 37:42you know, it's going to be pretty wild, Pretty, pretty wild
- 37:45to see. I think if I was Honda, I would
- 37:46keep Marini and and mayor because you know, and, and you
- 37:51know, sometimes it's the bike, sometimes it's the rider.
- 37:54But you know, Quatrara Acosta and these other guys haven't
- 37:58done anything spectacular, even though they're supposed to be a
- 38:02little bit, you know, better than these guys last year, 2025.
- 38:06You look at the stats overall Honda riders.
- 38:09So it's kind of, you know, I mean, I, I, I if, if you can
- 38:14sign to Marc Marquez. If you're a Honda, I suppose you
- 38:16do it right. But we, we, we, we've talked
- 38:19about Acosta B, is he a Mark Marquez or not?
- 38:22And I and I, and I think we might be on the fence a little
- 38:24bit about that. So.
- 38:28Do you think that if Honda holds up signing mirror Marini, that
- 38:33affects other riders trying to get to them like like Fabio and
- 38:38then making another decision? You know, I would say this if
- 38:42I'm a Moto GP rider, as long as I'm not out of Moto GPI think
- 38:47I'm OK. But once you get out of GP it's
- 38:50hard to get back in. That's just me though, you know.
- 38:55I mean it it would be a very potent team if they had.
- 39:00Imagine if Honda was able to scoop up Quadararo and Acosta.
- 39:05You know, even if they decided we're just going to clean house
- 39:07and we're just going to bring 2 new guys because next year is
- 39:09going to be a completely new bike is going to, it's pretty
- 39:11much a new project. Let's clean house and we're
- 39:14going to bring in Cuadraro and Acosta.
- 39:16A guy that can win now and a guy that can win now and in the
- 39:20future. And, and if you can keep those
- 39:23two guys. The thing is, you know, Honda's
- 39:24been able to save some money over the last couple years
- 39:26because they haven't pay, had to pay this guy that would they
- 39:29were paying a ton of money to. So they've been able to save
- 39:32some cash. It's time to spend some cash.
- 39:35Let. Me, let me ask this question.
- 39:36Who's the smoother rider between Acosta, Quatararo and
- 39:41Bastianini? Quataro, Quataro.
- 39:44OK, yeah, man, that dude is silk.
- 39:48Like because the, because the Yamaha only goes well if you're
- 39:52smooth. Like you got to be a smooth
- 39:54rider. If you try to wrestle that bike
- 39:56or fight that bike, it's not going to do what it's designed
- 39:59to do. That bike is built to be on
- 40:00rails and you got to be a certain kind of rider to like,
- 40:03like Quadraro is smooth, man. Like you see that dude take a
- 40:06corner and it looks so effortless.
- 40:08Like the bikes not shaking, the bikes not jumping around, it's
- 40:11not doing anything crazy. It's just.
- 40:13The dude just slides it right into the corner, man, and just
- 40:16picks it up and like, you know, again.
- 40:20And the only other guy that I feel is that smooth is Sideshow
- 40:23Bob. Well, today I was going to say
- 40:26Valentino Rocky. Well, yeah, back in the day.
- 40:29But Jorge Lorenzo, you know the reason he worked so well with
- 40:32the Yamaha, The same thing. He was just this silky suit,
- 40:35smooth rider. He wasn't getting the bike
- 40:37bucking and he wasn't fighting it.
- 40:38He was just letting it do its thing and pull in every ounce of
- 40:42that corner, speed out of it. Right, right.
- 40:44You know, Speaking of, let's, let's talk about 2025, man.
- 40:47Lewis, I'm gonna let you set it up because you wanted to talk
- 40:49about 25. 15/15/20. 15 at least I had a 5 in the end of two so.
- 40:59I I've studied this year more than Hold on, let me change my
- 41:02background here because I got to put my.
- 41:05Conspiracy. Background.
- 41:09OK. All right, all.
- 41:11Right here we go. Is this it?
- 41:16Start your notes. You got notes?
- 41:18Listen, man. No, no, no.
- 41:20I just want to make sure I got this thing working.
- 41:22You can see my conspiracy background.
- 41:24Yes, yeah. What up so?
- 41:26We're going to we're going to this is the conspiracy.
- 41:32This year is the most I can I it's so many adjectives can be
- 41:38used for this year. It's the most controversial,
- 41:41it's the most toxic, it's the most spoken about like this year
- 41:46caused the biggest riff in motorcycle racing.
- 41:49It brought a new rivalry. It brought so many different
- 41:53layers and it really had to do with two riders, but it had to
- 41:55do with a bunch of riders. And it also shows.
- 41:58This is, I hate to say this is the first championship that
- 42:04social media really was had a big impact because on social
- 42:09media became very toxic. Moto GP fandom became like Star
- 42:13Wars fandom, just toxic. Everybody was hating everybody.
- 42:16There was division. There was the Republicans and
- 42:19the Democrats like it was it's it's it was surreal.
- 42:23There was the yellow mist and there was the Team 93 guys.
- 42:28And it also went to show the power that Rossi had to
- 42:33manipulate fandom. His fans were on his side, and
- 42:39some of his fans kind of saw it a little different.
- 42:42And then there was this. What I thought at the time was a
- 42:44smaller group that was on the Marquette side.
- 42:46Valentino Rossi definitely had the bigger group of fans.
- 42:50You know he he had. You talk about the the Seattle
- 42:54with the Legion of Boom. Yeah, like I, you know, in 2015,
- 43:00listening to when Rossi was cheered and then other people
- 43:05were introduced and it was like crickets.
- 43:07Like that intimidate that has as a writer, as a ball player,
- 43:12whatever. It's like, where's my mother,
- 43:15right? Ain't nobody.
- 43:16Cheering for me, yeah. Man real like not the might have
- 43:21been the Valencia round, or the Australia round or the Malaysia
- 43:23round or the Malaysia. Round, Malaysia, Round.
- 43:25It was like man, I need security to get me to my.
- 43:33Yeah, I mean, it was, it was the equivalent of this past year
- 43:36when Bulaga took out top rack and you know, you needed to cost
- 43:41security because it was that bad.
- 43:43And I hate to see that in our sport.
- 43:46I would say worse in all honesty because it was more than one
- 43:48round. Oh yeah, yeah, no, it was 3
- 43:50rounds. Like you know, Bullock only had
- 43:52to do with one weekend and and thank God top racks not racing
- 43:55in this series anymore. Like he'll take all his crazy
- 43:57fans with him to GP. I'm good.
- 44:00But you know, this was the beginning of a long hard period
- 44:04of Valentino Rossi and Mark Marquez, which in a way was kind
- 44:08of deflating because in the first few years, Valentino Rossi
- 44:12made it a point to be very friendly.
- 44:14Marquez because in my opinion, I feel Valentino Rossi has this
- 44:18thing where you keep your enemies close or your friends
- 44:21close, you keep your enemies closer.
- 44:23And even when Marquez came in, you know, here's a rookie that
- 44:26won in his championship year. All right, this kid just knocked
- 44:29out one of my one of my goals, one of my records.
- 44:32He became the youngest guy to win AGP championship.
- 44:35All right, motherfucker. Oh, he became the first guy to
- 44:37win 1010 wins before I won. He, you know, so little by
- 44:41little, he started knocking down all these Rossi records.
- 44:44And Rossi was like, oh, he's my friend.
- 44:46He's that little fast bastard, like, but inside, behind the
- 44:51facade, he really meant that shit.
- 44:54This is a little fast bastard. I don't really like this moment,
- 44:57you know? And as time went on and Marquez
- 45:00became more competitive, it kind of kept chipping and chipping.
- 45:04And this was the year, if I remember correctly, that the
- 45:07relationship really took a downturn because Marquez had
- 45:11gone to Valentino Rossi's ranch to do like his.
- 45:17They do a like a flat track race there and Marquez went and beat
- 45:22Rossi at his ranch and, and, and even Marquez will say that was
- 45:27the moment where he felt the relationship changed.
- 45:30Like when he went to the ranch, he was, he was treated a little
- 45:34bit differently than he expected to be treated.
- 45:36He was a lot more competitive. Everybody was super competitive.
- 45:40And after that weekend, he felt the relationship soured.
- 45:44And then shortly after that, they had their first incident,
- 45:47which was Argentina, where he felt that Rossi kind of came
- 45:52across, took out his front tire for no apparent reason and
- 45:54crashed him. And then again, this just kept
- 45:58building throughout the season. It's like all these little
- 46:00things that would happen, they would bang into each other, but
- 46:03you know, they would always bang into each other.
- 46:05But it was, it seemed like a like the elbow was stuck out a
- 46:07little bit further and the knee was out a little bit further and
- 46:10like, like we bang, but damn, that bang was a little harder
- 46:13than than they used to be. Like, And then in Aston, they
- 46:17had the the race where like they go into the last corner and
- 46:20Rossi leans into him. They hit each other, Rossi runs
- 46:23across the dirt. Rossi wins the race and Marquez
- 46:25goes to protest. But they were like, ah, it's a
- 46:28racing incident. It kind of happens.
- 46:29But again, building and building and building.
- 46:32And if you look through the seasons, Marquez really didn't
- 46:36have that much of an impact in the overall season because
- 46:40Marquez had 6 retirements. Yeah.
- 46:43Yeah, it was. Six races where he was
- 46:45irrelevant. Yeah, yeah.
- 46:47And towards the end of the end of the season with that, so he
- 46:49had like 3 in like 5 races or whatever.
- 46:51Yeah, he was out and I, I was trying to figure out what Rossi
- 46:56said in the Thursday before the last round that really.
- 47:02So it's the nation Grand Prix and Rossi said something and
- 47:07that's why Marquez was riding effed up.
- 47:10And then you know Rossi, I mean, I don't know if he hit the
- 47:13brakes to make him go down, but Rocky, but Marquez was
- 47:17definitely slowing him down. Well, The thing is, it was the
- 47:21Australian GP was the round where the the big hubbub
- 47:26happened because at the Malaysian, at the press
- 47:29conference for the Malaysian GP, that's when during the pre race
- 47:33press conference, out of nowhere, Rossi just drops.
- 47:36Well, you know, the reason that I had a bad race in Australia is
- 47:39because Marquez was intentionally slowing me down.
- 47:43And you could see Marquez's face.
- 47:45It's in the video. And Marquez is like, a little
- 47:49bit stunned that, you know, he didn't mention anything about it
- 47:54the entire week. And he waited until they're live
- 47:56in front of the press to, like, drop this bomb.
- 48:00Right, right. Right.
- 48:01And this is, you know, this is a, a classic Valentino Rossi
- 48:03thing is put this stuff out in front of the press because now
- 48:07I'm going to put pressure on this other rider.
- 48:10I'm going to make him crack. But here's the thing.
- 48:12Marquez had nothing to lose, bro.
- 48:14He wasn't in the championship. So guess what?
- 48:16You going to throw me under the bus here?
- 48:18Guess I got nothing to lose and I'm faster than you.
- 48:22He did intentionally slow him down in a Malaysian race, OK.
- 48:27Why though? Why he he think about it?
- 48:30I'm not. Even I'm not even going to talk
- 48:32about sharing race. I'm waiting for a reading this
- 48:34way means for TJ to jump in you. And me, You and me are in a
- 48:37press conference before the Malaysian GP.
- 48:41I'm Valentino Rossi. I need to do well this race
- 48:45because I'm only so many points behind Lorenzo.
- 48:49If I finish in certain points here and finish certain points
- 48:51in Valencia, I'm going to win. I have a lot to lose.
- 48:55So what am I going to do? I'm going to pick a fight with a
- 48:57guy that's as fast or faster than me that has nothing to
- 49:01lose. I think that's.
- 49:04The craziest shit ever. I think, I think, I don't know
- 49:06if Rossi was wrong and but it might have been bad for him to
- 49:10say something. And you can see even in the
- 49:12final round of Valencia, where Marquez never once put Lorenzo
- 49:17under pressure. But here's the thing.
- 49:18Why? Why would I?
- 49:21I'm Marc Marquez. Why would I bother if I if I
- 49:24beat? Win the race.
- 49:26No, but if I beat Lorenzo, I'm going to give this motherfucker
- 49:30the championship. The same guy that just talked
- 49:32shit about me the week before. Yeah, I, I, I got, so I was.
- 49:36Shit to help him now, if he had said, man, I really wish Marquez
- 49:40could, you know, if Marquez could give me a little bit of
- 49:42help and slow Lorenzo down, I'd really appreciate it.
- 49:45That's one thing. But you didn't throw me under
- 49:47the bus. I'll let I'll let I'll say this
- 49:49after that happened, we've now seen a lot of Italians Moto GP,
- 49:56so Rossi will have help or any other type right in the future.
- 50:00Absolutely. But I'm saying like.
- 50:02But TJ, what are your thoughts on on what we Lewis and I have
- 50:08been going back and forth with you know, you watch the season
- 50:12my. Conspiracy.
- 50:13Is is it, Is it Rossi was the aggressor and he probably should
- 50:19have chilled or was was, you know, Pedros Marquez, all the
- 50:26other Spaniards, the the Alicia spraggro, Polo spraggro Daniels
- 50:33in front of Rossi, bro. I mean, there, there's a lot of
- 50:37dogs out there. I mean, just going into the last
- 50:40race, I, I know Rossi wanted the help from the Hondas at that
- 50:44point, especially how Nick Harris was saying like he wished
- 50:47that Hyundai can look out for him after all the championships
- 50:52he's won, you know, because he threw a season away.
- 50:56I think he got a little big in his head.
- 50:58I don't know what he said on that Thursday, but that race
- 51:03before the Valencia, you know, him and Marquez in the incident,
- 51:09I think he just threw a season away, just started lasting on
- 51:11the grid going into the last season.
- 51:13Like he had a chance, you know? He threw away when, when he made
- 51:18Marquez go down, that's when he threw it away.
- 51:21I mean, all of that stuff, you know what I'm saying?
- 51:24If if he if he would have just put up with Marquez, it would
- 51:27have been a different story. Yeah.
- 51:29And then Lewis is on on the track, you know, saying, like,
- 51:33you know, all the incidents that happened from the start of the
- 51:37season and it leads up to the end.
- 51:38And at this point, when you're not in the championship races,
- 51:42you know, like, you know, get out of my way.
- 51:44And I feel like Marquez is just always just a nuisance to him
- 51:47where he didn't expect him always just to be front running
- 51:51even though he had a couple championships.
- 51:54Like, you know, Danny Pedosa was hurt for the first part of the
- 51:57season and he came second-half and he was just like getting in
- 52:00the way as well. And Rossi and just Lorenzo kept
- 52:03getting away. Obviously he didn't finish in
- 52:05first all the time, but. It.
- 52:08Was just a, it was a big challenge.
- 52:10It was a big challenge and it was a, it was an interesting
- 52:13season. And one thing I know is that the
- 52:15rain caused a lot of problems. It's like the rain just wouldn't
- 52:19go away every race. It was just put the test to all
- 52:24these riders and it just made it that much harder for for the top
- 52:29kind of especially those. No, I, I, I completely agree.
- 52:32One of the things that I, I saw that was, was was chilling was
- 52:38after the Malaysian race when Pedroza, Rossi and Lorenzo was
- 52:44hanging out back before they went on the podium.
- 52:46And it was just Rossi and Pedroza talking.
- 52:49And I was just like, Oh, yeah, that's right.
- 52:52Pedroza and Lorenzo had beef where the king of Spain had to
- 52:55intervene to say, let's let's break bread.
- 52:57So, you know, Pedro Lorenzo is like the odd man out in that
- 53:01situation. So it was crazy to see.
- 53:04How are your thoughts, Reese, on the 20/20/2015 season?
- 53:08And is it, is it, is it, Is it Rossi's fault all the way or was
- 53:13he fighting against Spain? I mean, I don't say he's
- 53:17fighting in Spain. I just think it was, it's almost
- 53:19like an incident, you know, from all America.
- 53:21It's like, like Lewis said, you're going to get somebody
- 53:24that's not even in the championship.
- 53:26So why are you worrying about him?
- 53:28Let him go do his own thing. Like you don't have to go up
- 53:31against someone that's not even in the championship.
- 53:34The person that you need to focus on is the one that was
- 53:37upfront that's he needed to focus on and do it.
- 53:40I mean, it made good for viewing ship to see the battle.
- 53:44And that's like, you know, Rodger Hayden didn't say that in
- 53:46one of the podcast. You know, it's it's good to see
- 53:50a rivalry and that's what everybody wants to see.
- 53:52I think everyone wants to see that fight, that rival, you
- 53:57know, that fight and somebody the dog.
- 53:59So it didn't make good for the sport.
- 54:00It made it made everybody TuneIn to see what's going to happen.
- 54:04But there was this time where I think it's just it is uncalled
- 54:08for. I'm like man, just let it go.
- 54:10I think they still hold a grudge to the day.
- 54:12Yeah, yeah, I think I forget who it was.
- 54:15I don't know if it's him and Lorenzo or him and Marquez, but
- 54:17I, I forget after I think it was a Moto 3 rider that passed away.
- 54:21I think him and Mark, I think Brooke broke bread after that.
- 54:26But I don't think him and Lorenzo are besties, no.
- 54:32I mean, Lorenzo still to the day, Tried to imitate Rossi.
- 54:35Yeah, still to the day. You know, going to do car racing
- 54:38now and everything. I'm like, get it, Get your own
- 54:41hobby. Right, right.
- 54:43I mean, I think, I think they're all kind of doing that.
- 54:44But I mean, you know, it's easy to sit here and say, you know,
- 54:50focus on what you're doing because that is the right thing
- 54:52to do in any sport because you don't want anyone to get in your
- 54:54head to get an advantage. But it it it it does look a
- 54:59little bit that's very deliberate.
- 55:02But Marquez, when he's ready to fight, he can fight.
- 55:05And those opportunities where he he chose to chill and he should
- 55:08have been fighting because, I mean, yeah, yeah, I was out of
- 55:11the championship. But you still should show up.
- 55:13And, you know, we we've heard it, you know, saying time and
- 55:16time again, everybody wants to win.
- 55:18So we're not going to let anybody just come and come
- 55:20through. No one was letting when Rossi
- 55:23started in the last place on the grid in the final round, no one
- 55:26let him through. You know, everybody was fighting
- 55:28with him. So we didn't see that fight from
- 55:31Marquez. I mean is that?
- 55:34Yeah, but like I said, man, do you want to help a guy that just
- 55:38talk shit and threw you under the bus out?
- 55:41Like at a certain point, we're all, we're all human.
- 55:44Yeah. And we and we're all pretty
- 55:46shit. And guess what?
- 55:48Man. You talk shit about me if I have
- 55:52$1,000,000 in front of me or 500 grand here, I'll give up that
- 55:56500 grand and take this 500 grand as long as I know I fucked
- 56:00you out of 3,000,000, right? But that's how petty I am.
- 56:03But The thing is, I mean, if if Rossi is saying, hey, you're
- 56:06already doing it first, right? It'd be one thing if he if he
- 56:10just picked the fight, but. Rossi been doing this for 20
- 56:13years. What's that?
- 56:14He just talking shit? Except.
- 56:17Except this is the one time that somebody could actually do
- 56:20something about his shit talk. Well, I mean, at the end of the
- 56:25day, I mean, I don't know if it's a win for Marquez because
- 56:28he took the L by going down and obviously Rossi was penalized
- 56:32for it. So Rossi should have been
- 56:33smarter. But like, you know, out of the
- 56:35two of them in that situation, I mean, I, you know, but as we say
- 56:40about the Rossi, you know, fan base, it, it could have gone
- 56:45horribly differently. But think about all the times
- 56:48that Rossi folded, made other guys fold under the pressure,
- 56:52right? Marquez made Rossi fold under
- 56:55the pressure. He pissed Rossi off so much that
- 56:58Rossi did what he did. And even though Marquez went
- 57:02down, who got the penalty for it?
- 57:04Rossi. No, I agree.
- 57:06And and so Marquez just took a page out of the Valentino Rossi
- 57:10playbook. And I'm going to make life so
- 57:12difficult for this guy. I'm going to make him break
- 57:14mentally, and that's exactly what happened.
- 57:17Rossi broke from frustration right, and did what he did.
- 57:20Let me ask you this, right? If Marquez was to do the same
- 57:25things that he did then now wouldn't he, would he be
- 57:28penalized for it? Because we see guys getting
- 57:31penalized now. Oh no, now now, now.
- 57:34Penalties for like riding, like riding what is unsafe riding or,
- 57:39or or or cruising on the race line, like the the rules have
- 57:43changed dramatically since then. And if you are intentionally
- 57:47impeding somebody, there are rules out there.
- 57:49Not, you know, back then there was no long lap penalty, right?
- 57:52It was on. Race the long lap penalty.
- 57:55Yeah, it was on race control. Whether or not they were racing,
- 57:59they were both still competitive.
- 58:00They were both actually holding each other up.
- 58:02Like it got to the point that where they were both cutting
- 58:04each other off just because they were just in their they were in
- 58:08their own little fan race and they forgot where they were.
- 58:11They thought they were a track day.
- 58:13Rossi knew where he wanted to get to.
- 58:16He knew where he wanted to get to and and Marquez knew where he
- 58:18didn't want to let him go. They forgot there was 20 other
- 58:23guys out there racing in this big race was.
- 58:27Like come on bro, like come on. Like, let's go up front and
- 58:30fight and and that's before the incident happened.
- 58:34Yeah, no. And again, this goes back to if
- 58:36Rossi had just that Thursday and not stirred the pot the way he
- 58:41thought. He he thought he was going to
- 58:42stir the pot and break Marquez and Marquez was going to be
- 58:45like, oh, I need to, I need to not impede Rossi because now
- 58:48people think that I'm impeding Rossi.
- 58:50It it went the other way. He was like, oh, he thinks I'm
- 58:52impeding him. He ain't seen shit.
- 58:54Right, right, right, right, right.
- 58:57So I mean again, again. So he he he has a point.
- 59:01It's it's it's it's it's kind of like, OK, you think I'm an
- 59:04asshole. Now let me show you what an
- 59:05asshole do. Like bro you were asshole
- 59:08before. Yeah.
- 59:08No, no. No, you just became a bigger
- 59:12one. That's not even enough.
- 59:13We know that. Everybody knows that is this
- 59:16became a pissing contest of monumental proportions.
- 59:20That's really what it became. But let's go back one race.
- 59:24To. Australia, There's one guy.
- 59:27That did. Race to watch.
- 59:29There's one guy that did something in Australia that
- 59:32might have also caused Rossi the championship, and this mofo has
- 59:37skated under the radar for close to a decade.
- 59:41Who are you saying I have? I think I have an idea, but I'm
- 59:43gonna let you say. We all know that Rossi and
- 59:46Marquez were battling in second place, third place, second
- 59:49place, third place. Lorenzo kind of drifted away all
- 59:52of a sudden, Marquez decided with like a few laps left in the
- 59:55race, I'm just going to drop the hammer.
- 59:57Let's see what I could do. He passes Lorenzo.
- 59:59When he passed Lorenzo, he technically gave Rossi.
- 1:00:04Of five points back. So.
- 1:00:07Instead of going from a 25 point and a 16 point, it went to a 20
- 1:00:12point and a 16 point. So now he's only four points
- 1:00:15behind Lorenzo. Remember, he lost the
- 1:00:18championship by 5 points. All right, So he only four
- 1:00:22points behind and with less than one lap to go.
- 1:00:26All right, Rossi's in 3rd place. It looks like it's going to go
- 1:00:30down. Everything is is working out the
- 1:00:34way it should work out. If I can finish it in 3rd place,
- 1:00:37like I'm going to be able to salvage something.
- 1:00:39And all of a sudden, out of nowhere comes your boy Andrea
- 1:00:44Yannone, Valentino Rossi's homeboy passed him, took third
- 1:00:52place away from him, and now he went from being just a few
- 1:00:58points. This guy right here being
- 1:01:02running. Into Rossi.
- 1:01:03Boy took Rossi from 4 points all the way down to seven points
- 1:01:10away from Lorenzo. Remember, Rossi lost by 5
- 1:01:14points. This guy right here, this
- 1:01:19motherfucker right here, quietly, quietly took his third
- 1:01:23place and was like. And he's he's also the only guy
- 1:01:30that got caught up in doping so. I mean, he was, he was about to
- 1:01:33get ready for his modelling career.
- 1:01:35He's getting his surgery done. Like he just, you know, but
- 1:01:38still this dude right here I think had as much impact in the
- 1:01:42overall finish of things and people don't recognize him.
- 1:01:46Marquez actually helped Rossi a little in Australia, even if he
- 1:01:49didn't mean to. This guy anti health Rossi and
- 1:01:53this is his boy. Yeah, I mean, again, I mean, you
- 1:01:57know, like, like, like I said it, it's one of those things
- 1:02:00where, you know, I mean, obviously we human beings and
- 1:02:04we're not always going to do all the right things.
- 1:02:06And I'm, I'm not giving, I guess we're giving Marquez a little
- 1:02:09pass for his behaviour. But, you know, it's, Yeah, I
- 1:02:14mean, you, that's the whole thing about not cracking under
- 1:02:16pressure, right? Yeah.
- 1:02:19Don't show up with a toupee on Yeah.
- 1:02:22Don't show me the toupee you. Don't get it knocked off.
- 1:02:25I mean it again, I you guys know this is probably one of the best
- 1:02:29seasons just of competitive motorcycling that we've had in a
- 1:02:34long time. And the Australian round was was
- 1:02:37amazing to watch. I mean the back and forth was,
- 1:02:41was, was. And he only got out to a good
- 1:02:43start in that race. Yeah, he was.
- 1:02:45He was the person that relapsed. But that's not how you start.
- 1:02:48That's how you finish. But.
- 1:02:49By the seagull. Yeah, that's the Seagull race.
- 1:02:53Seagull race. I think my my favorite race of
- 1:02:57the season was Mazzano. It's like I don't think we'll
- 1:03:00ever see or I don't know if it can happen again.
- 1:03:02But going from a drive bike to a wet bike back to a drive bike
- 1:03:07and then seeing seeing Valentino Rossi race on wet tyres when
- 1:03:11he's not supposed to dragon Lorenzo as far as he could to to
- 1:03:16not ruin the championship lead and stuff like that.
- 1:03:19And he had to crash it like it was it was a good season.
- 1:03:22That was one of my favorite races then.
- 1:03:24Yeah, yeah, there's a lot of crashes and who else who who as
- 1:03:30as you talk, talk about Bradley Smith getting on the podium
- 1:03:33because he he gambled like, I mean, I guess he's he's Bender
- 1:03:38before Bender, you know, he's just like what I got to lose and
- 1:03:43and and go out there on slicks. This was the.
- 1:03:46Last year, I think this was also the last year for an ART bike.
- 1:03:49It was the last year for like that.
- 1:03:51Like weird frame, Kawasaki ZX motor and like a Skalix or a
- 1:03:58suitor frame. You know, this was a year that
- 1:04:04the first year that Prilia came back to the championship, you
- 1:04:08know, like there was a lot of stuff like this was a overall,
- 1:04:12this was one of the most entertaining years.
- 1:04:14You know, it sucks that it's quiet and so much controversy
- 1:04:17because it was really, really, man, like, one of the most
- 1:04:20entertaining years. Yeah.
- 1:04:24You know, and and that was that's probably the first year
- 1:04:26that the Honda was starting to go back because you even hear
- 1:04:30for jokes, just like, man, that bike is just shaking all the
- 1:04:33time. I have to use so much energy
- 1:04:35just to just to finish on the podium.
- 1:04:37I'm like bro, but you're on the podium.
- 1:04:42But it was 21 spots better than I can do.
- 1:04:44Yeah, right. Like imagine if that bike was
- 1:04:48you know and and it you know, goes to show that you know what
- 1:04:51Mark can ride around on other riders can't you know with as
- 1:04:55far as how the bike feels. Yeah.
- 1:04:57But also Mark calls that because Honda was so focused on trying
- 1:05:01to make him a bike that he liked riding that they ended up making
- 1:05:04a bike nobody could ride because he does have a a style that is
- 1:05:08unique to himself. Right, Right.
- 1:05:11And and yeah. And if you focus so much on one
- 1:05:14rider now, you make it unrideable for everybody else
- 1:05:16because, you know, Kyle Crutchlow tell you when he was
- 1:05:18on the Honda, nobody could ride it like Marquez.
- 1:05:21You know, no, these guys that have ridden the Honda throughout
- 1:05:24the years, especially when Marquez was the a guy Honda,
- 1:05:28they all tell you the bike was just the only guy that could
- 1:05:31make it go fast is Marquez. I, I, I, I completely agree.
- 1:05:37And, you know, we'll see what the future look like for Ducati
- 1:05:40if, you know, if they've made the the right decisions or, you
- 1:05:45know, chasing that illustrial, you know, financial statement at
- 1:05:50the end of the year, it's worth it.
- 1:05:53Money, money, money, money, money.
- 1:05:56Back that truck up. I don't think, I don't think
- 1:05:59Ducati will make the same mistakes that Honda made.
- 1:06:03I think Honda just put too many chips in on one guy.
- 1:06:05And even Honda now I think has realized the mistake they made
- 1:06:08and they're making a bike that more people can ride because
- 1:06:11it's not just one guy that's doing well on the Honda.
- 1:06:14You know, Zarku did well on the Honda, Mir did well on the
- 1:06:16Honda, Marini did well on the Honda.
- 1:06:19The only one that didn't do well was Chandra.
- 1:06:22Yeah, early he had. He had to take that sign and
- 1:06:25sign and just stayed one more year.
- 1:06:28But, you know, this was the year we had, you know, Yanni
- 1:06:31Hernandez. Right the the original YN.
- 1:06:36The yeah, the original OG Hector, Barbara Alva, Bautista,
- 1:06:42Loris Bass, Stephen Brattle, Nikki Hayden and Mckaylee.
- 1:06:45I think this was the last year Nikki Hayden was actually OGT.
- 1:06:49Then actually he went to work with Bike Piero Eugene Laverty,
- 1:06:54which again, dude. Salvadori.
- 1:06:59Like I think they had, what was it?
- 1:07:01How many riders actually competed that year?
- 1:07:05All the good riders, man, all the top guys.
- 1:07:07Yeah, Oh, Bass Lewis Bass was there.
- 1:07:10Yep, Yep. 19221223, dude, I I want to say they had, there was
- 1:07:1836 riders that competed in that year at some point, whether it's
- 1:07:22a wild card, A1 off a replacement rider.
- 1:07:26That's a lot of people, man, Yeah.
- 1:07:28Yeah, yeah. Haslam.
- 1:07:29Was it Haslam, Liam? Haslam wasn't on here, but you
- 1:07:34still had not. Haslam.
- 1:07:35Then there's another. Carol Abraham, his daddy, was
- 1:07:39still paying for him to stay. I think Haslam wasn't there.
- 1:07:43Liam Haslam. Nah, I don't see Haslam.
- 1:07:47I see Brock Park. Yeah.
- 1:07:49Damon Cudlin. Michael Laverty.
- 1:07:53Eugene Laverty. So maybe Eugene?
- 1:07:55Laverty, Anthony West. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:07:58Yeah, Tony Audio. Cordy Melandre, Tony Elias.
- 1:08:02Yeah. Elias, yeah.
- 1:08:06Was it was it was it was a crazy.
- 1:08:08Some of those guys have been went to Moto America too, like
- 1:08:11Tony Elias, Lawrence Bass. Oh yeah, he's still in.
- 1:08:15He's still in Moto America. Hey, Tony.
- 1:08:17Baz went to Moto World Super Bike and did really well.
- 1:08:20Yep. Tony Elias the The main thing
- 1:08:23with Tony Elias is remember Tony Elias was the first ever Moto 2
- 1:08:27champion and forever in the history books.
- 1:08:30He'll always be like the first Moto 2 champion and and you
- 1:08:36know, the dude leaned his entire body off the bike when the bike
- 1:08:40would just still stay straight up and down because he's still
- 1:08:42small. Oh yeah, Speaking of that race,
- 1:08:47was it the Malaysian race with with Rossi?
- 1:08:51Yeah, his his corner speed was crazy.
- 1:08:54Like like he like when he almost lost it taking Marquez on the
- 1:08:59inside, but like he was like he was laying that bike on his
- 1:09:03side, bro. Yeah, man, yeah.
- 1:09:09Again, I hope one day, I hope when this new bike comes out,
- 1:09:14the 2027 bike, I hope we can get this kind of riding again, man.
- 1:09:17Because I remember like look, looking at some of these races,
- 1:09:22I mean, there was some races it felt like there was like 100
- 1:09:24passes. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:09:28Especially the Noni and Marquez and Noni pass 2 riders, I think.
- 1:09:33I don't know Lorenzo and Rossi at the same in one corner.
- 1:09:37Over Lukey Heights, people just die bombing to the inside.
- 1:09:41I mean, it was crazy, man. Now we don't get no passes.
- 1:09:44We got dirty air, can't get past nothing.
- 1:09:48Yeah, it's, it's, it's, it's pretty wild to see. 2015 was an
- 1:09:52amazing year. And you know, it was last year
- 1:09:55that Lorenzo won the title and it wasn't a Gimme.
- 1:09:59You know, I, you know, you, when you think about, when you think
- 1:10:01about Rossi's career and how many runner UPS he had, like he
- 1:10:06had, he had like at least 4 runner UPS, second places that
- 1:10:10he finished overall in the championship, which is crazy.
- 1:10:15And, and he won it, you know, 5 five times.
- 1:10:19I think this was the last championship Lorenzo won also.
- 1:10:22Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. This was his last championship.
- 1:10:25Yeah, yeah. Last year I had to hear him
- 1:10:26crying. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:10:28But I think Yamaha made that mistake when I don't know if
- 1:10:31they knew that Lorenzo was going to be a champion in Yamaha, but
- 1:10:34they made that. I mean, I, you know, we could
- 1:10:35say Rossi thought he might have been going to Formula One, but
- 1:10:39they made that mistake bringing 2 world champions and you know,
- 1:10:42and you know where I, you know, I go to Ducati and say, hey man,
- 1:10:45you already have a world champion here, actually 2.
- 1:10:49Like, you know it it that you know, oil and water don't don't
- 1:10:53mix. I mean, they thought it was
- 1:10:56going to mix, but man, it didn't mix, man.
- 1:10:59Yeah, that's why I had to put that wall up.
- 1:11:02You know, like it's, it sucks because, you know, I think, I
- 1:11:06think he did one more year with Yamaha after this.
- 1:11:09And then in 2017 he went to Ducati and and.
- 1:11:14Then in 2018. Yeah, and Ducati.
- 1:11:18And then he went to Honda for one year, right?
- 1:11:19Yeah, and then he realized that only Marquez could ride that
- 1:11:23shit box, that he was going from there, too.
- 1:11:27He jacked up his spine. Was it with Honda or or Ducati?
- 1:11:30I think he hurt himself with Ducati because he did have a lot
- 1:11:33of crashes, but then when he finally did get the parts he
- 1:11:36needed from Ducati. Yeah, that was that was the
- 1:11:38second-half of the second year. Then he'd already signed to to
- 1:11:42Honda, but I thought he had hurt himself with with back issues
- 1:11:48and and. It was in 2018.
- 1:11:50So what was 28? Two.
- 1:11:51He was on the Honda at the time. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:11:53Yeah, yeah. So yeah.
- 1:11:54So yeah. Yeah, he had a, he had a brake
- 1:11:56failure in Qatar. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:12:00Yeah, it was. That was the last crash.
- 1:12:02He was like, you know what? You know what?
- 1:12:04I got this big pile of money home.
- 1:12:07I'm going to. Enjoy it, I'm going to let my
- 1:12:10belly grow a little bit. I think he might be like, is it
- 1:12:13Rolandini or whatever that Spanish but or not Spanish, but
- 1:12:17the the football player that just gained a lot of weight
- 1:12:19after he stopped playing like Rolandino, yeah.
- 1:12:22Yeah, yeah. Like Lorenzo probably put on
- 1:12:25like 40 lbs. I don't know how many he
- 1:12:29definitely. He's definitely a Roly Poly now.
- 1:12:33Would. Like a young Danny DeVito.
- 1:12:41I will say though, in the last year he did slim down a little
- 1:12:44bit. I think somebody was like, yo,
- 1:12:46let me talk to you for a minute bro.
- 1:12:50It's it's showing up on the TV camera.
- 1:12:52It's not the camera adding 10 lbs, It's you.
- 1:12:55Sorry you adding 10. Pounds.
- 1:13:00It's you. Yeah.
- 1:13:00He wearing no sweaters and that scarf, man, Yeah.
- 1:13:06It's gonna be that way out. No, man, I, I, I, you know, it's
- 1:13:12been fun reviewing these seasons because, you know, you don't
- 1:13:15really go back and look at them. And then when you do go back and
- 1:13:18look at them, you really do appreciate like, you know, the
- 1:13:21stuff that happened in the past, the riders that were there, the
- 1:13:23things that you know, we see. And then you also kind I, I also
- 1:13:27appreciate what's happening now. You know, you you learn from
- 1:13:30your past, you appreciate the present, But that that was one
- 1:13:34of those years, man. It, it ended.
- 1:13:35It ended not well for a lot of people.
- 1:13:39You know, like, you know, you never want to see things end in
- 1:13:42this kind of championship and controversy.
- 1:13:45And it's sad that it's kind of carried over So for so many
- 1:13:47years. We're going out in over a decade
- 1:13:50and, you know, Marquez wins in Italy and people are booing him.
- 1:13:54His brother wins in Italy. They're booing his brother.
- 1:13:57Like his brother got nothing to do with it, man.
- 1:13:58Like he just shares the name. He wasn't even there.
- 1:14:01Like I didn't think he was in Moto 3 at the time.
- 1:14:04He wasn't even in Moto 3 at the time I don't think.
- 1:14:06You watch. You watch The Godfather.
- 1:14:08Come on man. Oh yeah, yeah, I know, man.
- 1:14:10It's family. You, you inherit that guilty
- 1:14:15You, you inherited it, man. That's that's just it.
- 1:14:17You inherit that bullet. Touch I'm, I'm hoping that I'm
- 1:14:23hoping that as the years go on that these two guys will kind of
- 1:14:29put it behind them because, you know, it, it, it's toxic to
- 1:14:33carry, you know, hatred for a long time, man, Like that's,
- 1:14:36that's just toxic in your body. And sometimes you just kind of
- 1:14:40need to look in the mirror and be the bigger man.
- 1:14:42Say, look, man, you know what, whatever happened between us, it
- 1:14:45happened. But you know, someday you and me
- 1:14:47are going to be gone and we shouldn't go before we kind of
- 1:14:51tell each other the the truth, man.
- 1:14:53Let's, let's bury this. Let's, let's, let's do it
- 1:14:55publicly, man. Hey, man, bro, I'm trying.
- 1:14:57I'm trying to be sentimental. Give me that moment, because I
- 1:15:00don't. Have a no.
- 1:15:02I was like yo. Fucking in like 2 minutes.
- 1:15:06I was like, I was talking like, what the heck, man?
- 1:15:08Hey, hey, hold on. Hold.
- 1:15:10On like the. Bird error man, come on like you
- 1:15:14know, we we still hate them to this day.
- 1:15:17I was. Like yo is this a recording
- 1:15:19error? Like yo wait, lose it
- 1:15:21sentimental. I ain't going to lie, still hate
- 1:15:23Reggie Miller for what he used to do with my Knicks every year.
- 1:15:28Hey, you talk about Barry the Hatchet.
- 1:15:29How many years was that? Yeah, we haven't won a
- 1:15:32championship in basketball and I don't count that mid season
- 1:15:35champ. That's a that's a bullshit
- 1:15:37championship, man. But no, you have, you know, you
- 1:15:40haven't won since Phil. What you want to call it, Phil
- 1:15:45Jackson won. No, we haven't the Knicks.
- 1:15:49The Knicks haven't won a. Player as a player.
- 1:15:52Oh, yeah. Yeah.
- 1:15:53Yeah. Oh.
- 1:15:55Like Knicks had that one shit. Coach as a player was the last
- 1:15:58time the Knicks won. And Lewis terms then this is the
- 1:16:04shit box. Listen to me.
- 1:16:08I have. In my lifetime, since I've been
- 1:16:11alive, the Knicks haven't won. Yeah.
- 1:16:18The the last time the Knicks won, I was born like so I didn't
- 1:16:23even get to enjoy it. Yeah. 50 something years ago,
- 1:16:2850. 50 something years ago, man. I hope, I hope you're not a
- 1:16:33Cowboys. Fan too.
- 1:16:34No, no. No.
- 1:16:38I'm not a glutton for punishment.
- 1:16:43They they won in the 80s, so it's OK you were alive.
- 1:16:45Well, I mean it's. Still a long time, but you know,
- 1:16:48yeah. It's not like the, the, the Cubs
- 1:16:51or, or, or the Red Sox. I mean, you know, and granted,
- 1:16:54there's a long time that the Patriots didn't win.
- 1:16:56So I still remember them days too.
- 1:16:59It's it's it's tough to be a fan.
- 1:17:01I mean, you know what I mean, But die hard fans, you know,
- 1:17:05they, they, they, they, they with the good times and they
- 1:17:08with the bad times. And those are the true die hard
- 1:17:10fans and them are the people you want around you.
- 1:17:12Well. Hopefully we can reach out and
- 1:17:15get some more people to be die hair fans and motorcycle racing
- 1:17:18because it's a fun sport. It builds a great community.
- 1:17:22You know, you see people, you know, getting together the track
- 1:17:25and it's there's nothing like it, man.
- 1:17:27So hopefully we can. You know, I mean, I think we I
- 1:17:31think we are because I mean, sitting at the podium club, you
- 1:17:34know, you've seen a bunch of people coming out from the
- 1:17:36Arizona area and they just like, so I think we might get some
- 1:17:39more fans out there in that section on the West Coast that's
- 1:17:42coming out to the Laguna. Yeah, Podium Club is a is a nice
- 1:17:46track man. And and I know that that area,
- 1:17:48Arizona, Scottsdale, like there's a lot of people that go
- 1:17:52out that way and that track's helping, you know, build a nice
- 1:17:55little community out there, riders and races and getting a
- 1:17:57lot of St. guys off the track and onto the off the street and
- 1:18:01onto the track. You know, this, this couple of
- 1:18:04weeks ago when I was in Homestead, I had two guys from
- 1:18:06the Dallas area come down to Homestead and they got a huge
- 1:18:10following in social media because they're known for like
- 1:18:14being stunters, man. They do wheelies on the
- 1:18:16highways, they do roller racing and all this.
- 1:18:19And now they finally decided to like kind of go to the track and
- 1:18:22start testing their skills more. And they're realizing like, you
- 1:18:25know what, man, this bike thing, we got a lot to learn.
- 1:18:30Yeah, yeah, for sure that that that tends to happen.
- 1:18:33And you know, to touch on the the fan base, what was
- 1:18:37interesting was like Czech Republic had like over 240,000
- 1:18:42people that came through. So there was some huge numbers
- 1:18:45that were coming out back then. So it, I don't know if it's the
- 1:18:48pandemic, I don't know, like roughly when it started to come
- 1:18:51back down. Obviously this past year was
- 1:18:53breaking record numbers as well, but that was shocking for me to
- 1:18:56hear. Like, oh wow.
- 1:18:58Well, the pandemic had a lot to do with a lot of things.
- 1:19:01Had a lot. Yeah.
- 1:19:03Because in sales with motorcycles and power sports,
- 1:19:08they went through the roof, right?
- 1:19:09Just because people had literally nothing to do.
- 1:19:13Maybe just trying to find out something to do as a family.
- 1:19:15So. Right.
- 1:19:15Right, right. So they brought new avenues.
- 1:19:19Yeah, Bruno, the Czech Republic has always had like a, a pretty
- 1:19:23substantial fan base, you know, and they'll come out rain or
- 1:19:26shine, like all of whatever. For whatever reason, man, all
- 1:19:28the European rounds do good, man Silverstone, Bruno Le Mans, the
- 1:19:34Italian races, the Spanish Grand Prix, like they, they, the, the
- 1:19:38fanaticism out there is massive. And I think here in the US,
- 1:19:45we're slowly starting to see that because year over year
- 1:19:48we're starting to see more and more people.
- 1:19:50You know, Reese and I go to a lot of Motor America events and
- 1:19:53some do better than others. But the one thing that we've
- 1:19:55seen steadily over the last 2-3 years is the crowds keep getting
- 1:20:00slightly bigger than the year before and slightly.
- 1:20:02And in some places, like the jump is significant, you know,
- 1:20:05like some places like New Jersey and Road America and like the
- 1:20:11the amount of people coming out is insane.
- 1:20:14You know, even this past year, it's the first time that I've
- 1:20:16been to Laguna in a couple years.
- 1:20:18And I was really surprised by how many people actually went to
- 1:20:21Laguna. You know, So I think as if more
- 1:20:26America keeps doing the right things and they go to the right
- 1:20:29tracks and, you know, they keep building up.
- 1:20:31Like, like we were saying before the show started, Super bike
- 1:20:34this year is massive. Like this is going to be the
- 1:20:37best super bike grid that we've had.
- 1:20:40I mean, Reese, would you say in like 15 years?
- 1:20:43Yeah, I would say this is back in the AMA days that we just.
- 1:20:50I mean, we have potentially 10 to 13 guys that can all
- 1:20:55legitimately win, not just the same four or five guys.
- 1:20:58Right. And and then that's, you know,
- 1:21:01and there's so many teams. We got so many manufacturers.
- 1:21:03We got Ducati, we got Honda, we got Yamaha, we got BMW, You
- 1:21:07know, I mean, we're still miss, you know, we got Suzuki, but we
- 1:21:10know what's going to be the deal.
- 1:21:12They asked Suzuki, they haven't done anything, but then we got
- 1:21:14Suzuki. You know, I'd like to see
- 1:21:17Kawasaki back at some point because that's the only OEM
- 1:21:22that's really missing. And but you know, I think this
- 1:21:25year we're going to be surprised, man.
- 1:21:26We're going to go out there, we're going to do some rounds
- 1:21:29and you know, we're we're, we're probably going to do some like
- 1:21:32on the spot. If we get together at some of
- 1:21:35the tracks, we'll do some on the spot.
- 1:21:37Be forever Cool podcast live from the track.
- 1:21:40Oh yeah, definitely we. We we got to get Rexy out of the
- 1:21:44chair out there, you know what I'm saying?
- 1:21:45Jesus Christ. I'm I'm out this here this year,
- 1:21:49man, I'm out this year. I'm going to be rolling down the
- 1:21:52street this year for sure. So we're going, we're going to
- 1:21:58have some fun at these Motor America rounds.
- 1:22:01I'm I'm looking forward to it. So, and on that note, I think
- 1:22:05it's time to get out of here guys.
- 1:22:07I want to thank everyone for the comments.
- 1:22:09I really appreciate all the good and the bad.
- 1:22:12I'm glad we're doing things and saying things that people want
- 1:22:15to hear and want to take the time to add their own personal
- 1:22:19experiences that they have gone through in motors like a
- 1:22:22community. So I think we're we're on the
- 1:22:24right page of what we're doing. Definitely continue to like and
- 1:22:27subscribe and follow us on all our platforms and all that
- 1:22:31beautiful stuff. My name is Rex 45 just to be
- 1:22:34forever. Cool podcast.
- 1:22:36We got TJ with two wheels and coffee.
- 1:22:38We got the real Lewis Ortega, the numbers guy.
- 1:22:41We got Reese from Attack Yamaha. Peace, Peace.
- 1:22:44Peace what? Was that big time?
