For the next little bit of time, you're in the basement.
• 0:03
  We call ourselves Basement Dwellers.
• 0:05
I'm glad you are here. You are the most important part
• 0:09
of Ron's Basement. You're the most important part
• 0:11
of a lot of things. So give yourself a little pat on
• 0:14
the back. And if you want to do something
• 0:16
nice, give this a thumbs up. That helps us get the word out
• 0:19
to more and more people. Well, let's talk about Canada
• 0:25
and Costco. The Costco thing was A and the
• 0:28
best word I can think of is catalyst, but there's got to be
• 0:31
other a sign, a Canary in the coal mine, right, that that what
• 0:38
we are seeing in the metals market that it's changing.
• 0:42
Let me read this to you. This is about Canada and Costco
• 0:46
from CBC. Costco now sells gold bars.
• 0:48
This is in Canada, but are they a good investment?
• 0:53
So let me tell you, this is great.
• 0:55
This is typical what silver and gold investors deal with.
• 1:00
It's a great article about how Costco Canada is selling gold
• 1:04
and how people are buying gold and it tells the price of the
• 1:06
gold, you know, doesn't say anything about silver yet, but
• 1:10
it's talking about gold. But then then it turns into a
• 1:14
hit piece. Then they start putting you
• 1:16
down, OK, if you're a gold investor, a silver investor, he
• 1:20
  said. Gold is an awesome.
• 1:22
Gold is awesome for people who have really unstable currencies,
• 1:26
right? Well, that would be everybody,
• 1:30
my friend. This is Will Huggins.
• 1:34
He's an associate professor. Oh, he's in academia of finance
• 1:40
and economics at the McMaster University's to Gruti School of
• 1:45
Business. So it's good if you have an
• 1:47
unstable currency and can and can represent an attractive
• 1:51
stable investment because then he goes on to say it's just not
• 1:54
a real problem we have in Canada, right?
• 1:58
Like we don't, we don't have that problem here.
• 2:00
We have a real stable good currency.
• 2:02
I don't know is your currency in Canada lost any value.
• 2:06
I think it has gone. I look at the exchange rate
• 2:10
here, he said. He said it's not like a herd of
• 2:13
cattle or some land or a corporate entity.
• 2:17
It's just a yellow rock, that's all that is right?
• 2:21
So this this turns into a hit piece.
• 2:23
Most part, the reason people buy gold is because they've been
• 2:27
told the same story We all heard as a kid that gold was a hedge
• 2:32
against inflation. And as a result, when we start
• 2:35
to see the ghost of inflation rising back up after 40 years,
• 2:39
people think I should buy some gold.
• 2:41
OK, Michael, thanks. So pretty much anybody who can
• 2:45
sell gold is able to tap into people who have these fears,
• 2:49
inflationary fears. Then he talks about how it's
• 2:52
people in their 70s and 80s that are really scared and and
• 2:56
falling for this, you know, gold trick.
• 2:59
I don't know. So buying gold is mostly done
• 3:02
because people are afraid, not because it's been a great asset.
• 3:06
No, it's been not a great asset over the last thousand years.
• 3:08
No, not at all. It hasn't done anything in three
• 3:12
  years. It's the same price.
• 3:13
It was, you know, two months into the pandemic.
• 3:18
Anyway, I just thought that was interesting that again, you
• 3:21
know, we get a story about people buying gold and then of
• 3:24
course, that's from the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation.
• 3:28
They have to. They have to smash down gold.
• 3:33
We'd like to thank our sponsor First Mining Gold.
• 3:37
They're a Canadian gold developer with two world class
• 3:40
projects in Canada. They also have a handful of
• 3:45
other projects. When you total up all the gold
• 3:48
in their resources, it comes to over 12 million oz.
• 3:54
They're worth checking out. I'll put a link to the company's
• 3:57
  website in the description below.
• 3:59
I went to a high school called CBC, Christian Brothers College.
• 4:04
High school here in Saint Louis was all boys.
• 4:06
They wouldn't let me go to a school that had girls in it when
• 4:09
I was in high school. Anyway, one of the Christian
• 4:12
Brothers came to our school one time and he, he came into our
• 4:15
one of my classes and he gave this talk and he talked about,
• 4:18
I'll never forget it, about the distribution of wealth in the
• 4:23
United States. And this was in the mid 80s, OK.
• 4:26
Then he talked about how crazy it had gotten before the Great
• 4:31
Depression. I don't know why he came in and
• 4:33
talked to us about that. But now we don't it we are at
• 4:38
the most absurd levels of the wealthy having more assets than
• 4:43
the poor. This is a mind blower.
• 4:45
This is, this is a mind blower. And I think it could indicate to
• 4:48
us historically it's kind of like that money supply shrinking
• 4:53
  thing. Historically when wealth
• 4:54
distribution has become this out of whack and unfair, unfair that
• 5:01
has has created major economic problems.
• 5:04
Because guys it's like think about this.
• 5:06
It'd be like if I have a poker game and invite invite you over
• 5:08
to my house and you and nine of your buddies show up and you all
• 5:12
are like, yeah, I got $100, I got $120.00 and we come and we
• 5:15
sit down, we start playing poker and I pull out a stack of
• 5:19
100,000. You guys are going to be like,
• 5:22
I'm not playing this game. This is rigged.
• 5:24
This is not going to work. He's got Ron's got 100K and we
• 5:28
all have 100. Listen to this, listen to this
• 5:31
statistic because it's a sad commentary on what's going on in
• 5:35
this country right now. I'm going to use my bedroom
• 5:39
voice, OK, the top .1. And I'm going to give you an
• 5:43
example from these numbers that will blow your mind.
• 5:46
The top .1%, not 1% point 1% of Americans own 11.4% of the
• 5:57
  country's assets, so the we'll say 11%.
• 6:02
The poorest 50% of Americans own just 6% of the assets, so so .1
• 6:14
percent is 1 in 1000. If you're looking to buy gold,
• 6:18
silver, or platinum, do yourself a favor and check out PIM Becks,
• 6:23
the online precious metals bullion dealer and sponsor of
• 6:27
Ron's Basement. I was a happy customer before
• 6:30
they offered to support the channel.
• 6:33
You'll find they have the best prices, quality and service.
• 6:37
I think Pembex is best, and you will too.
• 6:40
And be sure to tell him that you're from Ron's basement. 1%'s
• 6:44
one in 100.1 percent is 1 in 1000.
• 6:48
So one person out of every thought get Let's just take a
• 6:52
thousand Americans, OK? We're going to line them up or
• 6:56
put them in a room together. There's one guy.
• 6:59
OK? There's one guy who owns almost
• 7:03
twice as much. One guy out of 1000 owns twice
• 7:07
as much as the poorest 500 people in that room.
• 7:14
  OK, It doesn't work. OK.
• 7:17
I'm sorry. And it's a sad commentary on
• 7:19
what's going on in this country. We have, we, we.
• 7:23
You don't. And you're not going to hear
• 7:24
about that on the Today show or on the Children's News Network
• 7:28
because you know why that point 1%.
• 7:31
They control the media. They don't want people to know
• 7:34
that that's the case. That's an absolute fact.
• 7:38
But what more important when it comes to this, what does that
• 7:41
mean for precious metals, silver and gold?
• 7:45
It's like the snake eating their own tail, their greed and hubris
• 7:50
at the top, right? Eventually they wind up shooting
• 7:53
themselves in the foot, figuratively, OK, and the system
• 7:58
crashes because people just give up.
• 8:01
And we're seeing that already. Think about this, right?
• 8:03
Welcome to October of 2023. If you have student loans,
• 8:09
you're supposed to be paying them back.
• 8:11
But like 44% of people who were surveyed, they said I can't
• 8:17
afford. I'm just not going to pay them.
• 8:19
I'm just not going to pay my student loans.
• 8:21
And I wouldn't be surprised. I'm not saying it's right and
• 8:24
wrong or anything else, but even with credit cards and car
• 8:28
payments, people are just like force majeure.
• 8:31
  I give up. I can't do it.
• 8:33
  It doesn't make any sense.
