- 0:00For the next little bit of time, you're in the basement.
- 0:03We call ourselves Basement Dwellers.
- 0:05I'm glad you are here. You are the most important part
- 0:09of Ron's Basement. You're the most important part
- 0:11of a lot of things. So give yourself a little pat on
- 0:14the back. And if you want to do something
- 0:16nice, give this a thumbs up. That helps us get the word out
- 0:19to more and more people. Well, let's talk about Canada
- 0:25and Costco. The Costco thing was A and the
- 0:28best word I can think of is catalyst, but there's got to be
- 0:31other a sign, a Canary in the coal mine, right, that that what
- 0:38we are seeing in the metals market that it's changing.
- 0:42Let me read this to you. This is about Canada and Costco
- 0:46from CBC. Costco now sells gold bars.
- 0:48This is in Canada, but are they a good investment?
- 0:53So let me tell you, this is great.
- 0:55This is typical what silver and gold investors deal with.
- 1:00It's a great article about how Costco Canada is selling gold
- 1:04and how people are buying gold and it tells the price of the
- 1:06gold, you know, doesn't say anything about silver yet, but
- 1:10it's talking about gold. But then then it turns into a
- 1:14hit piece. Then they start putting you
- 1:16down, OK, if you're a gold investor, a silver investor, he
- 1:20said. Gold is an awesome.
- 1:22Gold is awesome for people who have really unstable currencies,
- 1:26right? Well, that would be everybody,
- 1:30my friend. This is Will Huggins.
- 1:34He's an associate professor. Oh, he's in academia of finance
- 1:40and economics at the McMaster University's to Gruti School of
- 1:45Business. So it's good if you have an
- 1:47unstable currency and can and can represent an attractive
- 1:51stable investment because then he goes on to say it's just not
- 1:54a real problem we have in Canada, right?
- 1:58Like we don't, we don't have that problem here.
- 2:00We have a real stable good currency.
- 2:02I don't know is your currency in Canada lost any value.
- 2:06I think it has gone. I look at the exchange rate
- 2:10here, he said. He said it's not like a herd of
- 2:13cattle or some land or a corporate entity.
- 2:17It's just a yellow rock, that's all that is right?
- 2:21So this this turns into a hit piece.
- 2:23Most part, the reason people buy gold is because they've been
- 2:27told the same story We all heard as a kid that gold was a hedge
- 2:32against inflation. And as a result, when we start
- 2:35to see the ghost of inflation rising back up after 40 years,
- 2:39people think I should buy some gold.
- 2:41OK, Michael, thanks. So pretty much anybody who can
- 2:45sell gold is able to tap into people who have these fears,
- 2:49inflationary fears. Then he talks about how it's
- 2:52people in their 70s and 80s that are really scared and and
- 2:56falling for this, you know, gold trick.
- 2:59I don't know. So buying gold is mostly done
- 3:02because people are afraid, not because it's been a great asset.
- 3:06No, it's been not a great asset over the last thousand years.
- 3:08No, not at all. It hasn't done anything in three
- 3:12years. It's the same price.
- 3:13It was, you know, two months into the pandemic.
- 3:18Anyway, I just thought that was interesting that again, you
- 3:21know, we get a story about people buying gold and then of
- 3:24course, that's from the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation.
- 3:28They have to. They have to smash down gold.
- 3:33We'd like to thank our sponsor First Mining Gold.
- 3:37They're a Canadian gold developer with two world class
- 3:40projects in Canada. They also have a handful of
- 3:45other projects. When you total up all the gold
- 3:48in their resources, it comes to over 12 million oz.
- 3:54They're worth checking out. I'll put a link to the company's
- 3:57website in the description below.
- 3:59I went to a high school called CBC, Christian Brothers College.
- 4:04High school here in Saint Louis was all boys.
- 4:06They wouldn't let me go to a school that had girls in it when
- 4:09I was in high school. Anyway, one of the Christian
- 4:12Brothers came to our school one time and he, he came into our
- 4:15one of my classes and he gave this talk and he talked about,
- 4:18I'll never forget it, about the distribution of wealth in the
- 4:23United States. And this was in the mid 80s, OK.
- 4:26Then he talked about how crazy it had gotten before the Great
- 4:31Depression. I don't know why he came in and
- 4:33talked to us about that. But now we don't it we are at
- 4:38the most absurd levels of the wealthy having more assets than
- 4:43the poor. This is a mind blower.
- 4:45This is, this is a mind blower. And I think it could indicate to
- 4:48us historically it's kind of like that money supply shrinking
- 4:53thing. Historically when wealth
- 4:54distribution has become this out of whack and unfair, unfair that
- 5:01has has created major economic problems.
- 5:04Because guys it's like think about this.
- 5:06It'd be like if I have a poker game and invite invite you over
- 5:08to my house and you and nine of your buddies show up and you all
- 5:12are like, yeah, I got $100, I got $120.00 and we come and we
- 5:15sit down, we start playing poker and I pull out a stack of
- 5:19100,000. You guys are going to be like,
- 5:22I'm not playing this game. This is rigged.
- 5:24This is not going to work. He's got Ron's got 100K and we
- 5:28all have 100. Listen to this, listen to this
- 5:31statistic because it's a sad commentary on what's going on in
- 5:35this country right now. I'm going to use my bedroom
- 5:39voice, OK, the top .1. And I'm going to give you an
- 5:43example from these numbers that will blow your mind.
- 5:46The top .1%, not 1% point 1% of Americans own 11.4% of the
- 5:57country's assets, so the we'll say 11%.
- 6:02The poorest 50% of Americans own just 6% of the assets, so so .1
- 6:14percent is 1 in 1000. If you're looking to buy gold,
- 6:18silver, or platinum, do yourself a favor and check out PIM Becks,
- 6:23the online precious metals bullion dealer and sponsor of
- 6:27Ron's Basement. I was a happy customer before
- 6:30they offered to support the channel.
- 6:33You'll find they have the best prices, quality and service.
- 6:37I think Pembex is best, and you will too.
- 6:40And be sure to tell him that you're from Ron's basement. 1%'s
- 6:44one in 100.1 percent is 1 in 1000.
- 6:48So one person out of every thought get Let's just take a
- 6:52thousand Americans, OK? We're going to line them up or
- 6:56put them in a room together. There's one guy.
- 6:59OK? There's one guy who owns almost
- 7:03twice as much. One guy out of 1000 owns twice
- 7:07as much as the poorest 500 people in that room.
- 7:14OK, It doesn't work. OK.
- 7:17I'm sorry. And it's a sad commentary on
- 7:19what's going on in this country. We have, we, we.
- 7:23You don't. And you're not going to hear
- 7:24about that on the Today show or on the Children's News Network
- 7:28because you know why that point 1%.
- 7:31They control the media. They don't want people to know
- 7:34that that's the case. That's an absolute fact.
- 7:38But what more important when it comes to this, what does that
- 7:41mean for precious metals, silver and gold?
- 7:45It's like the snake eating their own tail, their greed and hubris
- 7:50at the top, right? Eventually they wind up shooting
- 7:53themselves in the foot, figuratively, OK, and the system
- 7:58crashes because people just give up.
- 8:01And we're seeing that already. Think about this, right?
- 8:03Welcome to October of 2023. If you have student loans,
- 8:09you're supposed to be paying them back.
- 8:11But like 44% of people who were surveyed, they said I can't
- 8:17afford. I'm just not going to pay them.
- 8:19I'm just not going to pay my student loans.
- 8:21And I wouldn't be surprised. I'm not saying it's right and
- 8:24wrong or anything else, but even with credit cards and car
- 8:28payments, people are just like force majeure.
- 8:31I give up. I can't do it.
- 8:33It doesn't make any sense.
