The Black Monk of Pontefract
The Black Monk of Pontefract centers on 30 East Drive in West Yorkshire, where the Pritchard family reported violent poltergeist activity beginning in the 1960s. Their accounts included moving objects, unexplained noises, strange water and dust, and alleged physical attacks on their daughter Diane.
The case became especially famous after witnesses described a dark hooded figure resembling a monk. Later folklore linked the apparition to an executed monk from Pontefract Priory, but that historical connection has never been reliably confirmed.
