- 0:00Speaker 1: Now more of the Marximone Show on seven to ten.
- 0:03Speaker 1: Woor filling in for Mark here again is Ken Rosaldo.
- 0:08Speaker 1: Is that good to be with you on a beautiful Friday.
- 0:10Speaker 1: New Jersey Governor Mikey Cheryl told the FEDS recently, of course,
- 0:13Speaker 1: she would not share information regarding those sixty six hundred
- 0:17Speaker 1: illegal migrants that she already admitted registered to vote in
- 0:20Speaker 1: the Garden State, and four hundred of them actually voted.
- 0:23Speaker 1: Mike Kelly is a columnist for the Record in USA
- 0:26Speaker 1: Today's with North Jersey dot com. He's here to talk
- 0:29Speaker 1: about it. Good morning, Mike, Good morning, Ken.
- 0:31Speaker 2: Welcome, Welcome, Welcome to New Jersey.
- 0:35Speaker 1: As they say, yeah, well, I'm a Jersey boy. I
- 0:37Speaker 1: saw I live. I live in the middle part of
- 0:39Speaker 1: the state. I live in the part of New Jersey
- 0:41Speaker 1: that doesn't exist Central New Jersey.
- 0:43Speaker 2: Uh.
- 0:44Speaker 1: One of those debaters down there.
- 0:47Speaker 2: That's it.
- 0:48Speaker 1: We just get a little in New York and a
- 0:49Speaker 1: little of Philly. So Governor Cheryl said that she would
- 0:52Speaker 1: not share information about the illegal migrants who registered to
- 0:55Speaker 1: vote with the FEDS because she said she needs to
- 0:57Speaker 1: protect the private information of New Jersey's citizens. Only they're
- 1:02Speaker 1: not citizens. So what is she talking about and is
- 1:05Speaker 1: why do you think she is so adamant about not
- 1:07Speaker 1: sharing that information.
- 1:10Speaker 2: Well, remember when Jason Brunson, what you know, with the Knicks,
- 1:14Speaker 2: was faking out other defenders. We'll think of this as
- 1:17Speaker 2: the ultimate fake out. She's just trying to go you know,
- 1:20Speaker 2: she's trying to fake her way through this. I think,
- 1:22Speaker 2: I mean, Cheryl's is in a difficult position. She wants
- 1:26Speaker 2: to sound like she's being transparent and coming clean with everything,
- 1:30Speaker 2: but on the other hand, she doesn't want to come
- 1:33Speaker 2: clean with everything. And why that's the case, I think
- 1:37Speaker 2: it has a lot to do with the fact that
- 1:39Speaker 2: she's afraid that the Trump administration and Republicans in general
- 1:43Speaker 2: will just you know, have an opening to a basically
- 1:48Speaker 2: a long standing concern that elections in this country are
- 1:53Speaker 2: just simply not monitored very well.
- 1:55Speaker 1: But doesn't that already happen? I mean, the fact that
- 1:58Speaker 1: she acknowledged what the Republicans have been saying all along,
- 2:02Speaker 1: that there are thousands of people who have been registered
- 2:05Speaker 1: to vote who shouldn't have have been registered, and on
- 2:08Speaker 1: top of that, hundreds who actually voted that we know of.
- 2:12Speaker 1: Doesn't that already open up the.
- 2:13Speaker 2: Floodgates, yes and no. I mean what we really need here,
- 2:19Speaker 2: Ken I believe, and I think this would be good
- 2:21Speaker 2: for the whole country. We really need an independent examination
- 2:27Speaker 2: what happened here, and it begins long before the whole
- 2:30Speaker 2: question of voting came up. This begins with how New Jersey,
- 2:37Speaker 2: and to some degree, the whole country handles undocumented or
- 2:42Speaker 2: illegal immigration. And a number of years ago, Governor Murphy,
- 2:46Speaker 2: who was a governor Cheryl's predecessor, decided to give drivers'
- 2:51Speaker 2: licenses to undocumented illegal migrants here in New Jersey. Why
- 2:56Speaker 2: he decided to do that is a complicated issue. I
- 3:00Speaker 2: thought it was ridiculous at the time. And what happened
- 3:05Speaker 2: as a result of that is that there is a
- 3:07Speaker 2: policy in New Jersey that if you get a driver's
- 3:10Speaker 2: license in New Jersey, they automatically register you to vote,
- 3:13Speaker 2: which is, in my opinion, another problem. I think if
- 3:15Speaker 2: you're going to register to vote, it ought to be
- 3:17Speaker 2: separate from whether or not you apply for a driver's
- 3:19Speaker 2: license or not. But that's just my opinion. Anyway, The
- 3:22Speaker 2: point here is that when these undocumented immigrants sign up
- 3:26Speaker 2: for driver's licenses, the computer immediately automatically registered many of
- 3:32Speaker 2: them to vote, and so begins this current controversy. And then,
- 3:37Speaker 2: as you correctly point out, about four hundred of these
- 3:39Speaker 2: people actually cast balance somewhere in the state. We don't
- 3:42Speaker 2: know where. We don't know whether it influenced an election
- 3:45Speaker 2: somewhere or not. You know, a lot of these small
- 3:47Speaker 2: town elections come down to ten, fifteen, twenty votes, and
- 3:52Speaker 2: you know, I could see, you know, if a group
- 3:55Speaker 2: of migrants were voting in some small town somewhere, it
- 3:58Speaker 2: could influence you know, accounts vote. Would it affect one
- 4:02Speaker 2: of the statewide you know, elections like senator, US senator
- 4:06Speaker 2: or governor. I don't think so, But I think we
- 4:10Speaker 2: need to look at the symbolism here, which is the
- 4:12Speaker 2: fact that our elections are just not monitored during.
- 4:14Speaker 1: Well yeah, and Mike, just the idea that if one
- 4:18Speaker 1: vote is canceled out by somebody who should not be voting,
- 4:22Speaker 1: that is your right as a United States citizen to
- 4:26Speaker 1: cast that ballot. And if somebody else cancels out that
- 4:29Speaker 1: vote who shouldn't be I mean, that's like theft, you know,
- 4:33Speaker 1: that takes away all your rights. So that's why I
- 4:36Speaker 1: don't know about how you feel about it, But I
- 4:38Speaker 1: feel that if there is one illegally cast vote, it's
- 4:42Speaker 1: the equivalent to a million, because it could negate my vote.
- 4:46Speaker 1: I have been silenced by that illegal vote being cast,
- 4:50Speaker 1: and I wouldn't go to another country and cast a
- 4:53Speaker 1: vote where I shouldn't. And that's why I feel so,
- 4:55Speaker 1: I don't know, personally violated by something like this happening
- 4:58Speaker 1: and the idea that go ahead.
- 5:00Speaker 2: I'm sorry, Mike, Well, that's a very very good point, Ken,
- 5:04Speaker 2: you know it. You know, when someone who votes who
- 5:07Speaker 2: shouldn't be voting, votes, then that cancels out a legitimate vote,
- 5:11Speaker 2: a legitimate vote somewhere, and I think that kind of damage.
- 5:17Speaker 2: You know, you can't really quantify it, except the fact
- 5:19Speaker 2: that when you put it that way, it is an
- 5:21Speaker 2: emotional insult to you know, what we believe in here
- 5:24Speaker 2: in the United States. You know, look at listen. I
- 5:27Speaker 2: say all this. I am not in favor of. I mean,
- 5:30Speaker 2: I'm hardly a supporter of Donald Trump and some of
- 5:33Speaker 2: the some of the nonsense what I consider to be
- 5:35Speaker 2: nonsense that comes out of Washington these days. However, I
- 5:39Speaker 2: believe that the issue. I think that Democrats really have
- 5:43Speaker 2: it wrong in their opposition to what I think are
- 5:45Speaker 2: legitimate concerns raised by Republicans about the legitimacy of voting
- 5:51Speaker 2: in this country. And this has been a long standing
- 5:54Speaker 2: issue that really, I mean dates back to, you know,
- 5:59Speaker 2: to some degree that the election of John F. Kennedy
- 6:01Speaker 2: over Richard Dixon and whether or not you know, illegal
- 6:03Speaker 2: votes were cast in the city of Chicago at the time,
- 6:06Speaker 2: or even in Jersey City for that matter, you know,
- 6:10Speaker 2: and and and it's been a back and forth argument
- 6:14Speaker 2: for a very long time in this country. And I think,
- 6:17Speaker 2: at at at the very least, we should be required
- 6:22Speaker 2: to present some sort of identification when we show up
- 6:26Speaker 2: at a polling place to vote here in New Jersey. Though,
- 6:29Speaker 2: as you probably know, ken you walk in, you just
- 6:31Speaker 2: give them your name. You don't have to show them
- 6:34Speaker 2: your you know, driver's license or anything you you know,
- 6:38Speaker 2: so it right there, it opens the door to fraud.
- 6:41Speaker 2: And and heck, I just bought an iPhone last week.
- 6:44Speaker 2: I had to show my driver's license. I checked into
- 6:46Speaker 2: a hotel, I had to show my driver's license. You know,
- 6:48Speaker 2: just about everything we do we have to show some
- 6:50Speaker 2: form of identities identification somewhere. But we don't have to
- 6:53Speaker 2: do that on the very the most basic of American rights,
- 6:56Speaker 2: which is you know, voting.
- 6:58Speaker 1: Well, do you remember the story a few years back
- 7:00Speaker 1: when Eric Holder, a former Attorney General, showed up to
- 7:03Speaker 1: vote and somebody said you already voted, sir, and he said, no,
- 7:06Speaker 1: I didn't, and apparently somebody walked in. Whether it was
- 7:09Speaker 1: accidental or not, or whether that person had the same name,
- 7:11Speaker 1: which is very possible Eric Holder, they gave the card,
- 7:15Speaker 1: the voting card for Eric Holder to the other individual,
- 7:17Speaker 1: and so they had to have the Attorney General of
- 7:19Speaker 1: the United States cast a provisionary provisional ballot because according
- 7:24Speaker 1: to the records, he had already voted when he didn't.
- 7:26Speaker 1: So if it could happen to the Attorney General of
- 7:28Speaker 1: the United States, why couldn't it happen to anyone? And
- 7:32Speaker 1: it just again comes down to fairness, and when it
- 7:36Speaker 1: can be resolved by identification, it makes you scratch your head,
- 7:39Speaker 1: especially when Democrats for decades or against the idea of
- 7:45Speaker 1: anyone not here legally voting, and they were four identification
- 7:49Speaker 1: required at voting time, and now suddenly because Orange man
- 7:52Speaker 1: Bad is for it, there against it.
- 7:56Speaker 2: I know this is it's really it really something about
- 8:01Speaker 2: where our country's at right now that we can't even
- 8:03Speaker 2: agree on how we vote, which is crazy when you
- 8:07Speaker 2: think about it. And getting back to what I think
- 8:10Speaker 2: the really fundamental and excellent point you made a few
- 8:13Speaker 2: minutes ago, Ken, which is when someone votes illegally, it
- 8:17Speaker 2: cancels out somebody else's vote. And right there with the
- 8:21Speaker 2: example of Eric Holder, you see clear evidence of what happened.
- 8:25Speaker 2: Somebody obviously showed up and managed to use Eric Holder's name.
- 8:30Speaker 2: What were they doing it by mistake? Was it a
- 8:33Speaker 2: you know, some sort of practical joke. We don't know.
- 8:36Speaker 2: But the fact of the matter is if the Attorney
- 8:39Speaker 2: General of the United States showed up to vote, he
- 8:42Speaker 2: was blocked from voting and had to cast a provisional ballot.
- 8:46Speaker 2: That's ridiculous when you really think about it. And you know, look,
- 8:51Speaker 2: do I think we are going to have presidential elections
- 8:55Speaker 2: affected by this kind of thing? The answer is probably not.
- 9:00Speaker 2: But I think the question you raise, which is, there
- 9:04Speaker 2: is a fundamental insult here when this kind of thing happens,
- 9:10Speaker 2: that really erodes our confidence in America, and I think
- 9:13Speaker 2: we need.
- 9:13Speaker 1: To clean it up quick, pivot, Mic, because we only
- 9:15Speaker 1: have forty five seconds left. You have a book called
- 9:18Speaker 1: After Ground Zero, Everyday Americans of the unhealed Scars of
- 9:22Speaker 1: nine to eleven tell us about that.
- 9:25Speaker 2: Well, it's really a labor of love, Ken, and I'm
- 9:28Speaker 2: so glad you mentioned it. Yes, it's coming out in August,
- 9:32Speaker 2: just in time for the twenty fifth anniversary of nine
- 9:34Speaker 2: to eleven. And I basically trace the lives of about
- 9:38Speaker 2: twenty five people over the past twenty five years who
- 9:40Speaker 2: have all been affected in one way or another by
- 9:43Speaker 2: nine to eleven. Some of them have health problems, some
- 9:46Speaker 2: of them have campaigned to try to find the true
- 9:49Speaker 2: culprits or some of the additional culprits behind this, which
- 9:52Speaker 2: includes some Saudi Arabian officials. And of course there is
- 9:56Speaker 2: the long gooing heal and serious health pro problems for
- 10:00Speaker 2: firefighters and police officers and other first responders that they're
- 10:03Speaker 2: still suffering from.
- 10:05Speaker 1: Mike Kelly, you listen a labor of love. Yeah, USA
- 10:08Speaker 1: Today and the Record columnist. Thank you so much for
- 10:11Speaker 1: coming on this morning. Going to get that book and
- 10:14Speaker 1: have a.
- 10:14Speaker 2: Great day, Ken, Thanks so much. You take care of yourself, Okay,
- 10:18Speaker 2: you as well.
- 10:18Speaker 1: Thank you so much.
- 10:19Speaker 2: Man.
- 10:19Speaker 1: I appreciate your time and it's going to be a
- 10:22Speaker 1: beautiful sunny day to day his in the mid eighties,
- 10:24Speaker 1: taking your calls next eight hundred three to two, one
- 10:27Speaker 1: zero seven, ten
