- Lucas: Hei, velkommen til Episode 160 of Learn Norwegian with Fexingo. Luna: Hei hei! I'm ready to learn. What are we doing today? Lucas: Today we're going to learn a very useful verb: 'å vente'. That means 'to wait'. Luna: Oh, vente. I've heard that before. Like when someone says 'vent litt'. Lucas: Exactly! 'Vent litt' means 'wait a little'. Let's start with the infinitive: 'å vente'. Repeat after me: å vente. Luna: å vente. Lucas: Good. Now the present tense: 'jeg venter' — I wait. 'Jeg venter'. Luna: Jeg venter. Lucas: Perfect. Now a question: 'Venter du?' — 'Do you wait?' or 'Are you waiting?'. Luna: Venter du? Lucas: Yes. So if you're waiting for someone, you can say 'jeg venter på deg' — I'm waiting for you. But let's keep it simple for now. 'Vent på meg' — 'Wait for me'. Say it. Luna: Vent på meg. Lucas: Great. And 'vent litt' — 'wait a moment'. Luna: Vent litt. I think I've heard that in cafes. Lucas: Yeah, very common. Now let's practice a tiny scene. Imagine you're at a bus stop and your friend is late. You could say: 'Jeg venter på bussen' — I'm waiting for the bus. Or 'Jeg venter på deg'. Luna: So 'jeg venter på bussen' means I'm waiting for the bus? Lucas: Exactly. 'På' means 'for' in this context. Let's practice: 'Jeg venter på bussen'. Luna: Jeg venter på bussen. Lucas: Good. Now you're at a restaurant and you want to order. You might say 'vent litt' to your friend. Luna: Right. 'Vent litt, jeg skal bestille' — Wait a moment, I'll order. Lucas: Oh, that's good! You added 'jeg skal bestille'. But today we focus on 'vente'. So 'vent litt' is perfect. Luna: Okay. 'Vent litt'.
