Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: It's your early morning praise party. I am Sherri Mackey
- 0:03Speaker 1: and it's time right now for today's word. Your feelings
- 0:08Speaker 1: don't define your faith. Philippians 4.8 says, whatever things appear,
- 0:14Speaker 1: whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report,
- 0:17Speaker 1: if there is any virtue, if there is anything praiseworthy,
- 0:21Speaker 1: meditate on these things. There are times when our peace,
- 0:28Speaker 1: our security, our joy, become connected to what is happening
- 0:32Speaker 1: around us. When everything is going well, we feel confident
- 0:37Speaker 1: that God loves us and that life is moving in
- 0:40Speaker 1: the right direction. But when the unexpected happens, a door closes,
- 0:45Speaker 1: a relationship becomes difficult, finances get tight, and the answer
- 0:49Speaker 1: to our prayer seems delayed. We began to question everything.
- 0:55Speaker 1: We may think, God, where are you? Did I do
- 0:59Speaker 1: something wrong? Are you punishing me? Why isn't this working out?
- 1:03Speaker 1: But your circumstances are not the measure of God's love
- 1:06Speaker 1: for you. God's love does not change when your circumstances change.
- 1:12Speaker 1: There will be days when you feel strong and days
- 1:14Speaker 1: when you feel weak.
- 1:15Speaker 2: There will be moments when you feel.
- 1:17Speaker 1: Encouraged and moments when discouragement tries to take over. You
- 1:21Speaker 1: may wake up one morning full of faith and wake
- 1:25Speaker 1: up the next morning wondering how you're going to make
- 1:27Speaker 1: it through. That doesn't mean you've lost your faith. It
- 1:31Speaker 1: means you're human. We may not always be able to
- 1:35Speaker 1: control what thoughts enter our minds or what emotions rise
- 1:39Speaker 1: within us, but we can choose whether we'll entertain those
- 1:42Speaker 1: thoughts and allow those feelings to direct our lives. That's
- 1:46Speaker 1: why we have to learn to bring our thoughts back
- 1:48Speaker 1: to God's word. When your feelings say it's never going
- 1:53Speaker 1: to change, remind yourself God is still working. When your
- 1:56Speaker 1: feelings say I'm alone, remind yourself God promised he would
- 2:00Speaker 1: never leave me nor forsake me. When your feelings say,
- 2:04Speaker 1: I'm not enough, remind yourself, God has equipped me for
- 2:09Speaker 1: what he's called me to do. When circumstances say there's
- 2:13Speaker 1: no way, faith says God is a way maker.
- 2:15Speaker 2: You don't have to deny your feelings.
- 2:17Speaker 1: You can acknowledge your feelings without allowing those feelings to
- 2:20Speaker 1: become your master. You can say, I feel discouraged, but
- 2:24Speaker 1: I still am going to trust God. I feel disappointment,
- 2:27Speaker 1: but I'm still going to praise the Lord. I don't
- 2:30Speaker 1: understand what he's doing right now, but I know he's faithful.
- 2:33Speaker 2: See, y'all, that's maturity.
- 2:35Speaker 1: Your emotions can tell you how to feel, but they
- 2:38Speaker 1: don't get to tell you what is true.
- 2:41Speaker 2: Truth. comes from God.
- 2:43Speaker 1: So today, choose to focus your mind on what is pure, lovely, praiseworthy,
- 2:48Speaker 1: and true. Guard what you allow to occupy your thoughts.
- 2:52Speaker 1: Don't rehearse the problem all day.
- 2:53Speaker 2: Rehearse God's promise.
- 2:56Speaker 1: Your situation may change tomorrow, but even if it doesn't,
- 2:59Speaker 1: God hasn't changed.
- 3:00Speaker 2: His faithfulness hasn't changed.
- 3:02Speaker 1: And because he hasn't changed, you can have peace every day.
- 3:06Speaker 2: Father, thank you for your love for us.
- 3:08Speaker 1: It isn't determined by circumstances or our emotions. Help us
- 3:12Speaker 1: when negative thoughts and feelings try to take control of
- 3:15Speaker 1: our minds.
- 3:15Speaker 2: Teach us to acknowledge.
- 3:17Speaker 1: What we feel without allowing those feelings to dictate what
- 3:21Speaker 1: we believe. Help us to bring every thought under the
- 3:24Speaker 1: authority of your word. When we feel discouraged, remind us
- 3:27Speaker 1: of your faithfulness. When we feel afraid, remind us that
- 3:30Speaker 1: you are with us. When we feel uncertain, remind us
- 3:33Speaker 1: you're still in control. We choose truth over feelings, faith
- 3:36Speaker 1: over fear, and your promise over what we see in
- 3:39Speaker 1: Jesus' name.
- 3:40Speaker 2: Now that's your word for today. Take it.
- 3:44Speaker 1: Apply it to your everyday life and you continue to
- 3:46Speaker 1: be encouraged and inspired.
- 3:48Speaker 2: It's your early morning praise party. I am Sherri Mackey.
