The Mattress Murder: How a Wife, Son, and Nephew Plotted Compound Treason for an Egyptian Inheritance
Abeer endured a 17-year marriage to Saber that grew increasingly strained as he became a successful contractor, which fed her greed and resentment. After a brief separation and reconciliation, she began an affair with Saber's nephew, Walid, and together they conspired with her 16-year-old son, Mohamed, to kill Saber for his wealth and property. They drugged him, hid his body inside a mattress and tried to cover up the crime, but surveillance footage exposed their plot. All three were arrested and ultimately received the death sentence.
