- 0:00Speaker 1: This is the Ben and Ashley I Almost Famous podcast
- 0:03Speaker 1: with iHeartRadio. So the other week of the Golden Bachelorette.
- 0:09Speaker 1: This week we are here to break it down with
- 0:11Speaker 1: Ashley Ashley. Big week for the Golden bachelorre We get
- 0:16Speaker 1: some emotion, we get some honesty, we get some transparency,
- 0:20Speaker 1: we get what I would call Jones real big first
- 0:23Speaker 1: hurdle of the journey so far, and we get some
- 0:29Speaker 1: new love interests. Kind of sparking thoughts. Take it away
- 0:34Speaker 1: from the first part of this episode.
- 0:38Speaker 2: The first part, of course, they do their thing, their
- 0:41Speaker 2: new preview of the big moment of the episode, and
- 0:44Speaker 2: that is Joan saying that she's not one hundred percent
- 0:46Speaker 2: ready for love in her life because John, She's basically
- 0:49Speaker 2: not over it is never going to be over. And
- 0:51Speaker 2: this was also a big tease in the scenes from
- 0:55Speaker 2: the season. It actually ended up being, luckily and not
- 1:00Speaker 2: as big of a deal, I think as they made
- 1:02Speaker 2: it seem like it could be in those in that
- 1:04Speaker 2: big teaser. So because she gets kind of like gets
- 1:08Speaker 2: over it in this episode, you know, she moves on
- 1:12Speaker 2: and I think this is going to be the only time.
- 1:15Speaker 2: This is gonna be like the last time we hear
- 1:16Speaker 2: her worry about this.
- 1:18Speaker 1: It's very early on in the season. If this was
- 1:21Speaker 1: happening when there was two people.
- 1:24Speaker 2: Left, that's what they made it seem like initially.
- 1:28Speaker 1: But this is definitely just I think one of those
- 1:31Speaker 1: things that's true to her that we need to understand
- 1:34Speaker 1: about her, that we can a lot of people can
- 1:38Speaker 1: relate with about her. But this is not going to
- 1:41Speaker 1: be something that stops her journey from continuing. I think
- 1:46Speaker 1: we know that for you know a fact.
- 1:48Speaker 2: Yeah, Now, do we talk about the rest of the
- 1:51Speaker 2: conversation that she had with the men there or do
- 1:53Speaker 2: we get there when we get there.
- 1:55Speaker 1: We'll get there when we get there. Let's kick it
- 1:56Speaker 1: off with this really fun scene where we see the
- 1:58Speaker 1: guys in our acting in the house. I think this
- 2:01Speaker 1: is right now. One of the best parts of The
- 2:06Speaker 1: Golden Show is seeing the men and how they interact
- 2:11Speaker 1: with each other. They're supportive, they care for each other.
- 2:13Speaker 1: I don't know if they like it. I don't know
- 2:15Speaker 1: if they love doing Pascal's like laundry and cooking dram
- 2:21Speaker 1: but they're doing it, and I think that is such
- 2:23Speaker 1: really a really fun thing to watch. Charles says it best.
- 2:28Speaker 1: It's summer or I think Chalk actually said it, it's
- 2:31Speaker 1: summer camp. This looks like summer camp, and it's I
- 2:34Speaker 1: think it probably has a very unique vibe compared to
- 2:37Speaker 1: even The Bachelorette.
- 2:39Speaker 2: Yeah, the guys are complaining about lack of sleep that
- 2:42Speaker 2: they have, and I've noticed that a lot of these
- 2:47Speaker 2: dates are ending when it's still light outside, and so
- 2:50Speaker 2: I'm wondering if they are catering the timeline of the
- 2:53Speaker 2: day to the older crowd, because you and I were
- 2:58Speaker 2: used to having dates that would absolutely go to one
- 3:02Speaker 2: or two am, and rose ceremony is gould go that late,
- 3:04Speaker 2: But two of these dates ended during daylight.
- 3:08Speaker 1: They've had to cater this for these guys. I think
- 3:11Speaker 1: it would make a lot of sense for them too.
- 3:12Speaker 1: Do they really want guys not like being at their best,
- 3:16Speaker 1: being yeah, being grumpy, being tired, not having any energy
- 3:21Speaker 1: and quite honestly, the dates so far have been fairly
- 3:25Speaker 1: high intensity. I mean, especially this first group date during
- 3:29Speaker 1: this season. There's like a lot of energy that's got
- 3:33Speaker 1: to put out in this. I appreciate the show for
- 3:36Speaker 1: recognizing who they have and saying, yeah, you know what, like,
- 3:40Speaker 1: let's take it easy on these guys.
- 3:41Speaker 2: I know. I think they're also taking it easy on Joan.
- 3:44Speaker 2: I even thought that maybe one of these group dates
- 3:47Speaker 2: would The group date was cut short because she was
- 3:50Speaker 2: upset about her mom being at home and sec I
- 3:54Speaker 2: feel really bad for her for having that way on
- 3:57Speaker 2: her during this episode, but luckily she ends up feeling
- 4:01Speaker 2: her mom is back home feeling better, so by the
- 4:05Speaker 2: end of the episode, Okay, but yeah, let's talk about
- 4:07Speaker 2: Pascal for a second, because he's so funny in the
- 4:10Speaker 2: opening segment when he's talking about, you know, not being
- 4:14Speaker 2: used to doing any sort of chores around the house,
- 4:19Speaker 2: really like taking care of himself to a certain degree,
- 4:23Speaker 2: and I'm thinking that he's just going to be this
- 4:25Speaker 2: fun character, right, and he's never gonna be taken seriously
- 4:28Speaker 2: by Joan. And then I'm surprised to see that he
- 4:31Speaker 2: has the first one on one of the week, and
- 4:33Speaker 2: I'm thinking, oh, okay, so this is going to be
- 4:37Speaker 2: I think the first Golden episode in which somebody is
- 4:41Speaker 2: eliminated on the date. I just did not foresee them clicking,
- 4:45Speaker 2: and they did. They had a great time. I don't
- 4:48Speaker 2: think that he's gonna get super duper far, but enough
- 4:52Speaker 2: to get through for this week and for her to
- 4:54Speaker 2: just enjoy his company.
- 4:56Speaker 1: I was actually very I was with you. I don't
- 5:00Speaker 1: know if I ever thought, oh, I just never go
- 5:02Speaker 1: into a one on one thinking this guy's getting sent
- 5:04Speaker 1: at home or this.
- 5:05Speaker 2: Really I do all the time, and then I'm a
- 5:08Speaker 2: wrong at least seventy five percent of the time.
- 5:11Speaker 1: My reasoning is, I just don't think it happens that much.
- 5:14Speaker 1: It's very rare for it to happen, so I just
- 5:16Speaker 1: never expect it, and if it does happen, it typically
- 5:20Speaker 1: feels like a very monumental moment, and in a sense,
- 5:24Speaker 1: I don't want to it feels like coming like when
- 5:27Speaker 1: I was on the show. If I was going to
- 5:30Speaker 1: have a one on one with somebody that had even
- 5:31Speaker 1: the potential to go home, especially early on, it would
- 5:35Speaker 1: be a waste of a one on one. So I
- 5:38Speaker 1: don't see that happening, because wasting those one on ones,
- 5:41Speaker 1: especially on the Golden Show that's expedited already, would feel
- 5:46Speaker 1: very impactful and also, just like I said, a waste
- 5:50Speaker 1: of time.
- 5:51Speaker 2: That's very interesting that you say, that's that's a strategy
- 5:55Speaker 2: that yeah, the lead should take into consideration. Don't waste
- 5:59Speaker 2: a one.
- 5:59Speaker 1: On one so this early, I just didn't think it,
- 6:02Speaker 1: but I was surprised to see him be the one
- 6:04Speaker 1: to go. I did not know what their connection would
- 6:06Speaker 1: look like. He's fun, He's really fun. He has a
- 6:11Speaker 1: lot of energy. The dude still is pretty ripped for
- 6:15Speaker 1: being however old he is sixty nine or something. Yeah,
- 6:19Speaker 1: it's pretty crazy on the older guys.
- 6:21Speaker 2: Yeah, and so they're on the day and it's like
- 6:24Speaker 2: they go to the ultimate place for him, Vegas, and
- 6:28Speaker 2: it was very adorable. You could tell he was like,
- 6:30Speaker 2: thank you, Joan, thank you for picking me for this date. Yeah.
- 6:34Speaker 1: The only part that I thought was a little weird.
- 6:37Speaker 1: Maybe it's just me way Newton looking.
- 6:40Speaker 2: No, I love well, Okay, he's been on many episodes before, right.
- 6:46Speaker 1: Yeah, he's been on many episodes.
- 6:48Speaker 2: His face is just timeless.
- 6:51Speaker 1: It was a little wild that they went to the
- 6:53Speaker 1: Paris hotel when Pascal's from France, Like, it's it's like
- 6:59Speaker 1: going I guess to me, it felt like a little
- 7:01Speaker 1: bit he has to be looking at everything being like
- 7:03Speaker 1: this is hilarious that you're remaking this.
- 7:06Speaker 2: Definitely tongue and cheek, But do you think that they
- 7:08Speaker 2: really revolve the date planning around him, because normally the
- 7:13Speaker 2: dates are really planned in advance. They would have just
- 7:15Speaker 2: been lucky to have their set have been agreed upon
- 7:19Speaker 2: as being the Paris Hotel and then end up Cassie
- 7:24Speaker 2: a guy from Paris, and then her liking him enough
- 7:27Speaker 2: to invite him to it.
- 7:29Speaker 1: Typically how I mean it worked back then. I don't
- 7:32Speaker 1: know if it still does today. But when you get
- 7:34Speaker 1: started on the week, let's say the week starts on
- 7:38Speaker 1: a Monday, just keep it easy. On Sunday evening, you'd
- 7:40Speaker 1: meet with the producers and they would you'd say, okay,
- 7:43Speaker 1: what dates are this week? And they'd be like, it's
- 7:45Speaker 1: kickball and it's a trip to Vegas and going to
- 7:48Speaker 1: the Paris Hotel. And then maybe they wouldn't tell you everything,
- 7:52Speaker 1: like the Wayne Newton thing. I wouldn't be surprised if
- 7:54Speaker 1: it was a surprise to Joan, but they'd be like,
- 7:56Speaker 1: you're gonna go and you're gonna get dressed up, You're
- 7:57Speaker 1: gonna have a Philly fancy dinner. Would tell you that
- 8:00Speaker 1: to be the week, Like who do you want to
- 8:02Speaker 1: bring on the one on ones because it's you know,
- 8:05Speaker 1: obviously whoever doesn't go to the one ones going on
- 8:07Speaker 1: group day, and you'd be like, she probably heard this
- 8:10Speaker 1: and said said, Pascal will be perfect for this date
- 8:13Speaker 1: to Vegas. Yeah, like I want to bring him. And
- 8:15Speaker 1: the Paris Hotel has just been a coincidence kind of.
- 8:19Speaker 1: She would have known that's where they are going, so
- 8:21Speaker 1: she probably said.
- 8:23Speaker 2: This is too funny not to bring him. Yeah, this
- 8:25Speaker 2: would be funny.
- 8:26Speaker 1: And maybe she's like, I want to know if this
- 8:28Speaker 1: is anything like Paris, because maybe she's never been to Paris.
- 8:30Speaker 1: I don't know. That's how it used to work. You
- 8:34Speaker 1: would just try to pick people that you thought would
- 8:36Speaker 1: enjoy the date, would find it fun, maybe that you
- 8:39Speaker 1: knew a little bit about them so that you could
- 8:42Speaker 1: match a date with what they cared about, or just
- 8:46Speaker 1: somebody you haven't been on a date with would also
- 8:47Speaker 1: be another choice. But right now she has a lot
- 8:50Speaker 1: of people that she could choose. She chose Pascal. I
- 8:52Speaker 1: thought it was great. Their connection is deeper than I expected.
- 8:58Speaker 1: I mean, I think, especially when you get to the
- 9:00Speaker 1: evening portion, I do think there is a connection there.
- 9:03Speaker 1: I do think he brings out a really lively side
- 9:05Speaker 1: to her. And you know what, he just like all
- 9:09Speaker 1: these people, he has a story to tell, and Joan
- 9:13Speaker 1: at this point, as a lead, you start to get
- 9:16Speaker 1: really tired because you're not emotionally, I think, trained to
- 9:20Speaker 1: hear all of these stories back to back to back
- 9:22Speaker 1: to back and carry the weight of them like you.
- 9:24Speaker 2: Want to care basically a therapist.
- 9:27Speaker 1: Yeah, and she's doing a tremendous job at it. She's
- 9:30Speaker 1: asking questions. You can tell she's engaged. As Charles says,
- 9:34Speaker 1: she's a great listener. She's really good at this role,
- 9:38Speaker 1: and I think that's a really fun thing to see
- 9:40Speaker 1: her do. She made it comment to Gary skipping forward
- 9:44Speaker 1: a little bit, but she made it comment to Gary Gary.
- 9:47Speaker 2: At which Gary, because that we had Bachelor Gary as well.
- 9:51Speaker 1: Bachelor Gary, Bachelor Gary, the former Golden She makes a
- 9:54Speaker 1: comment to him that I thought was so untrue. She said,
- 9:57Speaker 1: I'm not good at giving them responses back like you were.
- 10:00Speaker 1: I think she said something like filling up that extra
- 10:02Speaker 1: space afterwards, like giving them what you know, something too,
- 10:07Speaker 1: And I'm like, that's so wrong. Joan is doing exactly
- 10:09Speaker 1: that she might not even mean to, but she's doing
- 10:11Speaker 1: it just by being herself.
- 10:13Speaker 2: She must have thought that she could elaborate and she
- 10:15Speaker 2: was holding back and she was just giving them bits
- 10:17Speaker 2: and not the whole thing. Yeah, well, you know what
- 10:20Speaker 2: you just said that, like you're feeling connection and stuff.
- 10:23Speaker 2: I have to admit, I'm not sure that I'm feeling
- 10:25Speaker 2: romantic connection. I am feeling connection like human being to
- 10:28Speaker 2: human being. I'm feeling that she appreciates these guys, but
- 10:32Speaker 2: I don't feel like she's like, I want to jump
- 10:34Speaker 2: into these guys bones. It may be just the way
- 10:38Speaker 2: your body language is as you get older, or just
- 10:41Speaker 2: like how your demeanor is as you get older, but
- 10:44Speaker 2: I haven't picked up on like a ton of romantic
- 10:48Speaker 2: attraction from her to the guys.
- 10:50Speaker 1: I think it will come. I think the same thing
- 10:52Speaker 1: would be said about Gary Season for her baby.
- 10:55Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 10:56Speaker 1: I think it's you know, at the initial part of this,
- 10:59Speaker 1: there's a lot happening. There's a lot of relationships to navigate.
- 11:02Speaker 1: She doesn't know all these guys great honestly yet. And
- 11:06Speaker 1: I think as we get further along and there is
- 11:09Speaker 1: less people and there is more private time, then we'll
- 11:13Speaker 1: see Joan and the guys maybe connect more physically. But
- 11:17Speaker 1: even with Gary Season, it wasn't really until in my memory,
- 11:22Speaker 1: the fantasy suites were like, oh, they're getting it. On, like, yeah,
- 11:26Speaker 1: we saw them in bed together and they're making you know,
- 11:28Speaker 1: in the windows about their time together. M I just
- 11:32Speaker 1: think it's I think it's a it feels appropriate. I
- 11:36Speaker 1: think it would. It's maybe it feels a little bit
- 11:39Speaker 1: inappropriate to make those physical connections too early on.
- 11:44Speaker 2: Yeah, that kind of goes back to what I was Yeah,
- 11:48Speaker 2: it just kind of goes back to what I was
- 11:49Speaker 2: saying last week about the kisses. I'm like, the kisses
- 11:52Speaker 2: are like friendly, they don't feel like they're hot. Just wait, okay,
- 11:58Speaker 2: So anyway, we like the past wild day. He ends
- 12:00Speaker 2: up Pascal, he ends up getting the rose, and he
- 12:03Speaker 2: shares a story about how he came from nothing and
- 12:08Speaker 2: now he lives life up. He got the Cinderella date
- 12:12Speaker 2: and he basically lives life like and he basically kind
- 12:15Speaker 2: of has a sort of Cinderella like story. His dad
- 12:19Speaker 2: actually with a shoe. Oh my gosh, look at all
- 12:22Speaker 2: these references. His dad with a shoe before he moved
- 12:25Speaker 2: to America, fixed a shoe with a piece of cardboard.
- 12:30Speaker 2: And he was like, when you make enough money to
- 12:34Speaker 2: buy your buy your parent, you have this live with
- 12:39Speaker 2: this cardboard shoe until you have enough money to buy
- 12:42Speaker 2: your own.
- 12:43Speaker 1: I can't imagine all the things that he learned in
- 12:47Speaker 1: that season of life, his grit, his determination, his ability
- 12:52Speaker 1: to ask for help, his ability to connect with others.
- 12:55Speaker 1: It's really incredible to hear his story and then see
- 12:58Speaker 1: where he's at today. He's on national television flying. However
- 13:03Speaker 1: they flew to Vegas. It was private? Was it private? Yeah?
- 13:08Speaker 2: It was private?
- 13:09Speaker 1: Good for them. I never got a private jet. I
- 13:11Speaker 1: would love the private jet.
- 13:12Speaker 2: He said that he came to America without speaking any English.
- 13:15Speaker 2: I wanted to know more about Pascal Pascal for sure,
- 13:19Speaker 2: because I wanted to know, like how that evolution America
- 13:22Speaker 2: happened for him to be such a successful businessman. And
- 13:26Speaker 2: I wanted to know about his previous relationship. I think
- 13:29Speaker 2: he was married, he has a son, so there's other
- 13:32Speaker 2: things to uncover there. But I do like the fact
- 13:34Speaker 2: that we've been getting dates where it's like, no, I
- 13:36Speaker 2: want more, I want more, but like not in a
- 13:38Speaker 2: bad way, like we're not getting enough, but like their
- 13:39Speaker 2: stories are so good that we want to hear we
- 13:42Speaker 2: want to learn more about them.
- 13:44Speaker 1: Is that a good feeling? Isn't that just such a
- 13:45Speaker 1: good part of this show? Well as they're on the date.
- 13:48Speaker 1: We get a flashback to Los Angeles where some of
- 13:51Speaker 1: the guys have taken it into their hands to try
- 13:54Speaker 1: to help the men sleep better. That's a big storyline
- 13:56Speaker 1: at the beginning of this episode, because the men aren't sleeping.
- 14:00Speaker 1: A lot of that is because of the snoring, the shifting,
- 14:02Speaker 1: the noises at night, people getting up and moving around.
- 14:06Speaker 1: I'm guessing if they're like most men and women in
- 14:09Speaker 1: their sixties that I know that you know, somebody's waking
- 14:13Speaker 1: up at four am ready to go with the day,
- 14:15Speaker 1: and then they're sitting there on the couch, probably wondering
- 14:18Speaker 1: what in the world to do with themselves the next
- 14:19Speaker 1: three hours until you know, the television crew shows up.
- 14:23Speaker 1: There's just a lot of changes in their life right now,
- 14:25Speaker 1: changes the way they haven't had experience in the last,
- 14:29Speaker 1: you know, fifty years. This is a big change to them.
- 14:33Speaker 1: So some of the men do go to the store
- 14:35Speaker 1: to buy snuggies and blankets and i'masks and ear plugs.
- 14:40Speaker 1: All these things are are just funny. I think it's
- 14:44Speaker 1: a good bit, but I also find it to be
- 14:46Speaker 1: very helpful. Probably earplugs are the most helpful.
- 14:50Speaker 2: I could not have God gotten any good sleep in
- 14:54Speaker 2: the Bachelor Manager or in Paradise or anything like that
- 14:56Speaker 2: without ear plugs in an I'm ask always had that.
- 14:59Speaker 1: Yeah, it's a smart thing to do. I remember sleeping
- 15:02Speaker 1: with earplugs and I never sleep with earplugs. I think
- 15:05Speaker 1: it would be very, very important. We also see at
- 15:08Speaker 1: this time a really sweet scene with somebody that I've
- 15:11Speaker 1: picked as one of my top guys from the beginning.
- 15:14Speaker 1: I want to continue to remind you of this, Charles. Yeah,
- 15:18Speaker 1: Guy has always been up there for me. You have
- 15:20Speaker 1: doubted this, and I stick by it. You see this episode.
- 15:24Speaker 1: There's a couple things I want to point out to
- 15:26Speaker 1: you about Guy Gott in Early Rose that I think
- 15:29Speaker 1: will stand out later on in the season. But the
- 15:31Speaker 1: Charles and Guys scene is a really special scene because
- 15:35Speaker 1: Charles and Guy are sitting on the couch. Guys obviously
- 15:37Speaker 1: an er doctor speaking with Charles about how his wife
- 15:41Speaker 1: has passed away. Charles explains the story, and we've loved Charles.
- 15:45Speaker 1: Charles is a main character. He will be a main
- 15:47Speaker 1: character or a character for the rest of the season
- 15:50Speaker 1: until he is either let go or he is with
- 15:52Speaker 1: Joan at the end. He is a sweet man, he
- 15:55Speaker 1: is loving these moments so much, but he sees an
- 15:59Speaker 1: opportunity to ask a doctor about his wife and this
- 16:02Speaker 1: question that he's been holding on to, this question of
- 16:04Speaker 1: what else could I have done in the moment of
- 16:06Speaker 1: my wife's brain aneurism, And he says, why was there
- 16:09Speaker 1: blood coming out of her mouth? And for me, these
- 16:14Speaker 1: are the special moments of the show. I don't know
- 16:16Speaker 1: what Guy, I don't know what Charles's surroundings are like
- 16:19Speaker 1: when he goes back home. I don't know his friendships
- 16:21Speaker 1: back home. I don't know what his family dynamics necessarily, like,
- 16:23Speaker 1: I don't know if he's ever felt comfortable enough to
- 16:26Speaker 1: take the time to ask somebody that would be in
- 16:29Speaker 1: the know, why was my wife's mouth bleeding? Fell Hagan. Ever,
- 16:35Speaker 1: so he asked Guy, and Guy tells him and truth
- 16:38Speaker 1: and honesty. Hey, I bet she bet her tongue when
- 16:40Speaker 1: she fell. That's probably not something that Charles wanted to hear.
- 16:43Speaker 1: But what it did do was Guy followed that up
- 16:45Speaker 1: with like, you need to stop asking yourself what you
- 16:48Speaker 1: could have done. And I think for hopefully for Charles,
- 16:51Speaker 1: that was a pivotal moment. So many of us that
- 16:54Speaker 1: come off this show have those moments that are pivotal
- 16:56Speaker 1: to us. They stand out to us as they've changed
- 16:59Speaker 1: the course or direction of our lives from that point forward.
- 17:02Speaker 1: We come into it with all this stuff. These guys
- 17:05Speaker 1: definitely come into it with a lot of stuff and
- 17:07Speaker 1: a lot of years of stuff. And this show because
- 17:09Speaker 1: it slows us down, because it takes away distraction, because
- 17:12Speaker 1: it takes away all the things that we're used to
- 17:14Speaker 1: in our daily lives. Every once in a while there's
- 17:18Speaker 1: a moment that says, no, things will never be the same,
- 17:20Speaker 1: and I think this might be one of those moments
- 17:22Speaker 1: for Charles.
- 17:23Speaker 2: He basically admits to that he's like, I will be
- 17:26Speaker 2: leaving here basically feeling a little bit more closure, a
- 17:31Speaker 2: little bit better about life, maybe being able to move
- 17:36Speaker 2: on a little bit more. It was really really special.
- 17:40Speaker 2: I have like nothing else to say other than like,
- 17:43Speaker 2: I'm just really happy for him for feeling better in
- 17:47Speaker 2: any way. He's just the cutest little man. He's so cute.
- 17:50Speaker 1: He's a great guy, and he's doing so well so
- 17:54Speaker 1: far this season. So that is example number one of
- 18:00Speaker 1: guy standing up to support somebody else.
- 18:03Speaker 2: Okay, okay, sure, I mean certainly it was Charles shining
- 18:07Speaker 2: through all this. If there's a standout, if we're arguing this,
- 18:12Speaker 2: Charles is the one who's the main character here. But okay,
- 18:15Speaker 2: I'm not saying who stood out more at all. But
- 18:17Speaker 2: he had a heroic moment in helping Sure.
- 18:20Speaker 1: And I just want to give you that example, and
- 18:22Speaker 1: then I'll give you example number two later on in
- 18:24Speaker 1: this episode. Okay, the group date comes up next. The
- 18:39Speaker 1: guys are gonna be playing kickball. They think they're gonna
- 18:42Speaker 1: be playing flag football because Eric Dickerson and Andre Reid show
- 18:46Speaker 1: up to the football field to give these guys a
- 18:49Speaker 1: little pep talk to teach these guys a lesson. I'm thinking,
- 18:53Speaker 1: in my mind, please don't make them play flag football.
- 18:56Speaker 1: There's so many cutting, there's so much sprinting, there's so
- 18:59Speaker 1: much opportuned for pain. I am worried at this point
- 19:03Speaker 1: that these men are going to be stepping onto a
- 19:05Speaker 1: football field against each other.
- 19:07Speaker 2: Well, they don't they play a kickball game. Charles has
- 19:11Speaker 2: never played a kickball game, which adds to him being
- 19:13Speaker 2: just the most endearing so and it's sponsored by Quaker
- 19:18Speaker 2: Oats and the imagery is everywhere. I want to know
- 19:22Speaker 2: how much they paid them for this episode.
- 19:25Speaker 1: I think it's hilarious. I think it is the perfect
- 19:29Speaker 1: integration partnership.
- 19:30Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, because they're talking about it being well it
- 19:33Speaker 2: was protein, right, but when you think about oatmeal all
- 19:35Speaker 2: often times you think about fiber. And when you think
- 19:37Speaker 2: about fiber, you often think about older people. But we
- 19:41Speaker 2: should all be having lots of fiber anyway.
- 19:44Speaker 1: I love Keith like little commercial because I know they
- 19:47Speaker 1: had him do this or they're like, hey, can you
- 19:49Speaker 1: say this line first? He's like, oh, wake up in
- 19:51Speaker 1: the morning with Quacker Oaks yum. Yeah, And I'm just
- 19:54Speaker 1: like that's like, this is hilarious, Like I cannot believe
- 19:57Speaker 1: they're making these dudes do this, but I love it.
- 19:59Speaker 1: And it's a great integration. Integration it is.
- 20:01Speaker 2: It's great. It's so funny and obvious that it's that
- 20:05Speaker 2: we're like, yes, go for it, keep keep being creative
- 20:08Speaker 2: like this all right. They are of course going to
- 20:12Speaker 2: play a game, and whoever wins is going to have
- 20:15Speaker 2: the extra time with Joan at the end. It is
- 20:19Speaker 2: the it is the not Mark team that wins.
- 20:24Speaker 1: It's the blue team that wins.
- 20:26Speaker 2: The Blue team, the not marked team because Mark didn't
- 20:29Speaker 2: have any moments in this episode. It was shocking.
- 20:33Speaker 1: I'd even notice that.
- 20:35Speaker 2: You didn't stop. Okay, So they have a mini cocktail
- 20:39Speaker 2: party with the Blue team. Notable moments of course is
- 20:44Speaker 2: that Charles talks to Joan about his wife's passing and
- 20:47Speaker 2: how Guy was able to give him that closure. And
- 20:52Speaker 2: then Gil Gil is here and Gil talks to her
- 20:58Speaker 2: about how he adopted a daughter and she's only about
- 21:01Speaker 2: to be seventeen, so like, yeah, he's like still in
- 21:03Speaker 2: the midst of really raising her and she's at home,
- 21:07Speaker 2: and we know that Gil is the guy that had
- 21:10Speaker 2: a restraining order put on him between the time of
- 21:14Speaker 2: the background check and casting weekend to the show starting
- 21:18Speaker 2: to film, and they said that they were going to
- 21:20Speaker 2: cut down on his scenes. I wonder how much of
- 21:23Speaker 2: a role he really did play. If this is cutting
- 21:27Speaker 2: down the scenes, he gets the group day ros.
- 21:30Speaker 1: He does, which means he's around for one more week.
- 21:34Speaker 1: I don't know, have we had any follow up information
- 21:37Speaker 1: from that really senior order.
- 21:39Speaker 2: It was just that a woman was complaining filed the
- 21:42Speaker 2: restraint because he just wouldn't stop calling, texting, and like
- 21:45Speaker 2: basically showing up at her house.
- 21:48Speaker 1: Gil is definitely at this point a main character. He
- 21:50Speaker 1: is on the show. He's getting first impression Roses, he's
- 21:54Speaker 1: reading date cards. He he's exactly around And I don't know.
- 22:00Speaker 1: I mean, I guess from the show's perspective, how do
- 22:02Speaker 1: you cut out somebody reading a date card? And then
- 22:04Speaker 1: also how do you cut out somebody getting You can't
- 22:08Speaker 1: do that. You definitely can to show those and you
- 22:10Speaker 1: have to show why. And so yeah, maybe they've cut
- 22:13Speaker 1: out as much as they can at this point.
- 22:15Speaker 2: I think they cut out some of their conversation because
- 22:18Speaker 2: I felt like her conversation with Charles and Gary was
- 22:24Speaker 2: more qualifying for a group day Rose. I think there
- 22:27Speaker 2: was more substance that she had with the Gil conversation.
- 22:30Speaker 2: Gary was so sweet during this group date date, this
- 22:35Speaker 2: group date cocktail party because he asked Joan for her
- 22:40Speaker 2: mom's name after she opened up to him about the
- 22:43Speaker 2: fact that she wasn't feeling well at home, and then
- 22:46Speaker 2: he said that he was going to pray for her,
- 22:48Speaker 2: and they talked about they bonded over the power of prayer,
- 22:51Speaker 2: and then Gary shows up later in the week with
- 22:55Speaker 2: a written, framed prayer for her mom. It was so sweet.
- 23:02Speaker 2: I was like, oh, this is this is so special.
- 23:06Speaker 1: Just because we have no clue how this ends. There's
- 23:08Speaker 1: so many guys from this season that will have no
- 23:12Speaker 1: problem finding a partner if they want one after this
- 23:17Speaker 1: thing's done. Gary being one of those. Yeah, I think
- 23:20Speaker 1: Jonathan being one of those. Right, Jonathan's emotional, we'll talk
- 23:23Speaker 1: about that, but they're Charles Goodness. Like, there's so many
- 23:26Speaker 1: guys here that I'm like, there's all these people watching going,
- 23:30Speaker 1: you need to date my mom, Like you need to
- 23:32Speaker 1: date my mom, Please date my mom. And Gary consistently
- 23:36Speaker 1: now has been every week. Like I want to know
- 23:40Speaker 1: more about him. I want him to have one on
- 23:42Speaker 1: one because there is a an aura some his energy.
- 23:50Speaker 1: I don't use that term very often. I don't even
- 23:52Speaker 1: know what that fully means, but like his presence is
- 23:57Speaker 1: one that just makes you go, this is a guy
- 24:00Speaker 1: I need to be around personally and I want anybody
- 24:03Speaker 1: else to be around. He just has that factor. He cares.
- 24:07Speaker 1: He's super pretty bad too.
- 24:09Speaker 2: Yeah, he's so sweet.
- 24:10Speaker 1: You did mention that, you know, Joan does get the
- 24:15Speaker 1: phone call that her mom is sick. That Joan is
- 24:19Speaker 1: very distraught about this. She's anxious about it. It's on
- 24:22Speaker 1: her mind. That is a very hard thing to do
- 24:25Speaker 1: when you're on this show, because you were leaving it
- 24:27Speaker 1: up to a producer to keep in contact. And I'm
- 24:30Speaker 1: guessing at this point, I think Joan even says it.
- 24:32Speaker 1: Joan is her mom's main caregiver, and so as a result,
- 24:36Speaker 1: the main caregiver is gone. Who's answering the questions on
- 24:39Speaker 1: Jon's behalf. I I love Joan's passion for her family.
- 24:45Speaker 1: It's obvious, right, I mean, at this point, if her
- 24:47Speaker 1: mom was to say, Joan, you need to come home,
- 24:49Speaker 1: I think Joan drops everything and comes home without a question.
- 24:52Speaker 1: But don't even think it's an issue with her. I
- 24:55Speaker 1: was just hoping that, like two seasons in a row
- 24:58Speaker 1: for Joan, Joan wouldn't have to leave. Really, I mean,
- 25:01Speaker 1: it'd be hard. She's she's our bachelorette, Like, it'd be
- 25:03Speaker 1: hard for her to leave. The show would obviously pause
- 25:06Speaker 1: for her to leave. But I was just going, can
- 25:08Speaker 1: jone catch a break here? I can just go through
- 25:11Speaker 1: this thing without something else under her mind?
- 25:14Speaker 2: I know. So it was so we're living to hear
- 25:16Speaker 2: later in the week that she was okay. Definitely she
- 25:19Speaker 2: was improving. This brings up the big moment at the mansion.
- 25:23Speaker 2: So as this group data is winding to a close,
- 25:26Speaker 2: as you mentioned, Gil does get the rose. We get
- 25:29Speaker 2: to see then.
- 25:32Speaker 1: Kind of the after effects of the kickball game, lustily,
- 25:35Speaker 1: nobody got seriously hurt. I thought it was awesome to watch.
- 25:37Speaker 1: I thought these guys did a great job. We see
- 25:40Speaker 1: massages going on.
- 25:42Speaker 2: Uh.
- 25:42Speaker 1: We also see this moment which brings me to my
- 25:44Speaker 1: moment with Guy, where Captain Kim is writing a song
- 25:49Speaker 1: for Joan.
- 25:51Speaker 2: Oh, this is the other moment, Ben, You're right, Guy
- 25:55Speaker 2: really pulled through in this episode.
- 25:58Speaker 1: He has been pulling through. You noticed it.
- 26:00Speaker 2: He's so under the radar with his little moments.
- 26:03Speaker 1: But Captain Kim obviously cares a lot about music. He's
- 26:07Speaker 1: singing at the beginning, he's writing a song for Joan. Now,
- 26:10Speaker 1: I was with the guys when I saw Captain Kim
- 26:14Speaker 1: doing this and and then almost pushing it on the
- 26:17Speaker 1: guys to do with him, like, Hey, this is my idea.
- 26:19Speaker 1: We're gonna do that. There's no question of do you
- 26:21Speaker 1: guys want to do this? Would this be a good
- 26:23Speaker 1: idea for you? Who's in, who's out? It was, We're
- 26:25Speaker 1: gonna do this. This is gonna be great. Everybody come
- 26:28Speaker 1: to the living room, everybody do this song eyes with
- 26:30Speaker 1: Captain or eyes with the guys, and I was like,
- 26:32Speaker 1: I wouldn't want to do that, Like this doesn't feel
- 26:34Speaker 1: like me.
- 26:35Speaker 2: It reminds me of when the guys were singing that
- 26:39Speaker 2: song up to Jojo during her season and it was
- 26:43Speaker 2: the corniest thing of all time. And then Chad was like,
- 26:46Speaker 2: I'm not singing about of the girl that I just met.
- 26:50Speaker 1: Yeah, well, and like I don't have any game, but
- 26:53Speaker 1: singing to a girl would definitely be like lowering my game,
- 26:57Speaker 1: Like it just does like for the any game I
- 26:59Speaker 1: do you have, Singing is not something that impresses anybody,
- 27:03Speaker 1: nor do I feel comfortable doing it.
- 27:05Speaker 2: Dancing, on the other hand, dancing will win you over sexually.
- 27:11Speaker 1: Yeah, you can get any You just asked Jess when
- 27:13Speaker 1: I come in and step with my hips, she goes,
- 27:15Speaker 1: let's go, and so it is. It was an awkward
- 27:21Speaker 1: thing to request. I get why the guys did it.
- 27:23Speaker 1: I do think Gary did a tremendous job again, of
- 27:27Speaker 1: because they could have just said, Kim, we're not doing this,
- 27:30Speaker 1: like this is stupid, like we don't feel comfortable doing this.
- 27:33Speaker 1: You noticed Gary's maturity, also his wisdom and his ability
- 27:37Speaker 1: to negotiate. In this moment where he tells Captain Kim, hey,
- 27:41Speaker 1: this is a song you wrote for her. This isn't
- 27:43Speaker 1: a song I wrote for her. You should be the
- 27:45Speaker 1: one singing is to her, mostly in a nice way,
- 27:47Speaker 1: telling Captain Kim, hey, dude, not in for this. This
- 27:52Speaker 1: isn't my thing. But one guy does stand out and
- 27:56Speaker 1: do it with Captain Kim. One guy out of all
- 27:58Speaker 1: of them, one guy falls on the sword for everybody
- 28:01Speaker 1: else and for this person who's obviously cared a lot
- 28:06Speaker 1: about this song, it's guy.
- 28:08Speaker 2: Yeah, it was very sweet, very sweet. I don't know how,
- 28:13Speaker 2: we don't know how it went down that he decided
- 28:16Speaker 2: to do it with him, but he did it, and
- 28:20Speaker 2: it was super kind because the way that kid wrote
- 28:23Speaker 2: that song, he couldn't exactly deliver it without another man
- 28:27Speaker 2: next to him.
- 28:27Speaker 1: No, So second moment where guy does something for somebody
- 28:42Speaker 1: else and I just think this dude's around a while.
- 28:45Speaker 1: I see it happening, Ashley, I'm sticking with it. Well,
- 28:49Speaker 1: let's transition into the final one on one of the episode,
- 28:52Speaker 1: because we kind of jumped ahead there with the singing.
- 28:55Speaker 1: We see the group dates get obviously told, and we
- 28:58Speaker 1: obviously at that point know that John's going to get
- 29:00Speaker 1: the one on one. We see emotion out of Jonathan
- 29:03Speaker 1: leading up to this one on one Ashlely, what were
- 29:05Speaker 1: your thoughts on it?
- 29:05Speaker 2: Okay, Yeah, So Jonathan is really nervous, because he said
- 29:09Speaker 2: that he was because he knows that a one on
- 29:12Speaker 2: one date is going to put a lot of pressure
- 29:15Speaker 2: on him, that he's going to have to open up,
- 29:18Speaker 2: reveal himself, and he was kind of hoping for the
- 29:20Speaker 2: group date so he can kind of like hold back
- 29:22Speaker 2: a little bit. And I totally related to this. The
- 29:26Speaker 2: first few weeks of the Bachelor season, I didn't really
- 29:28Speaker 2: want to have one on one either because I just
- 29:31Speaker 2: was like, oh, spotlight on me, me having to be vulnerable.
- 29:34Speaker 2: I'm so not ready for this. Let me at least
- 29:36Speaker 2: warm up to this guy. And really I almost felt
- 29:41Speaker 2: that sense every single week because like, not only is
- 29:45Speaker 2: it your first real first date with somebody's and it's
- 29:48Speaker 2: a very long date. It's like a nine hour first date,
- 29:53Speaker 2: it's also on camera, so it is very there's this
- 29:57Speaker 2: more pressure on that date than really any other date
- 29:59Speaker 2: you've probably ever been. So I totally understand why he's
- 30:02Speaker 2: so nervous. They go horseback riding, and Joan basically is
- 30:09Speaker 2: talking about how she feels like she's not being vulnerable
- 30:13Speaker 2: enough with Jonathan, with the men in the background of
- 30:17Speaker 2: this date. She never addresses it to him. She says
- 30:20Speaker 2: that she feels like she's always been the caretaker. She's
- 30:23Speaker 2: always had to, like, you know, have the strong front,
- 30:26Speaker 2: and now she's going to have to, you know, at
- 30:29Speaker 2: some point she's gonna have to like go on this.
- 30:31Speaker 2: But she's noticing things around her. She's noticing these hawks
- 30:35Speaker 2: are flying around on her day, and the hawk is
- 30:38Speaker 2: what her family thought was like kind of the symbol
- 30:41Speaker 2: for her husband, because her kids were seeing hawks around
- 30:46Speaker 2: them when right after he passed. So I'm thinking like
- 30:52Speaker 2: there was a turn of events when she said, like,
- 30:54Speaker 2: we're seeing hawks and I'm thinking about my husband. I
- 30:59Speaker 2: thought she was going to to say, this isn't him
- 31:01Speaker 2: bringing Jonathan to me. I thought it was gonna be
- 31:05Speaker 2: like this touching, spiritual thing, but actually it was she
- 31:10Speaker 2: interpreted it differently. She interpreted it like it's time for
- 31:14Speaker 2: me to like kind of let go and be vulnerable.
- 31:18Speaker 1: It's a big moment for Joan and I think it's
- 31:21Speaker 1: a big moment for the rest of this season. She
- 31:24Speaker 1: I think, at this point in time, had a lot
- 31:26Speaker 1: of questions about what her role was here and how
- 31:29Speaker 1: she was going to do it well. And maybe, as
- 31:31Speaker 1: you mentioned the beginning, you're early on in this process,
- 31:33Speaker 1: she might be asking herself, are any of these guys
- 31:35Speaker 1: really for me? Like, none of these guys are making
- 31:38Speaker 1: me feel anything close yet to what my late husband
- 31:41Speaker 1: made me feel.
- 31:42Speaker 2: I was expecting her to feel that though with Jonathan,
- 31:45Speaker 2: and she didn't say anything like of the sort.
- 31:49Speaker 1: She didn't. She didn't, and this day I do think
- 31:52Speaker 1: maybe came about maybe a little early for Jonathan. I
- 31:55Speaker 1: think Jonathan he felt like he was enjoying his time.
- 32:01Speaker 1: He was crushing it at the house. He's really doing
- 32:04Speaker 1: well with Joan. As you mentioned, this is a big moment.
- 32:07Speaker 1: You get a one on one. It's not make or break,
- 32:09Speaker 1: but it is definitely a make or go home. And
- 32:13Speaker 1: Jonathan says something that I'm worried I'm gonna leave here
- 32:16Speaker 1: alone again because once I leave here, I'm gonna be
- 32:19Speaker 1: a loone. This is a very vulnerable moment for Jonathan.
- 32:24Speaker 1: I think we're getting a glimpse into this really handsome,
- 32:28Speaker 1: really confident, fun guy, and we're seeing what his insecurity is,
- 32:32Speaker 1: which is this loneliness thing he has going on. Again,
- 32:37Speaker 1: I will say this, if Jonathan were to go home
- 32:39Speaker 1: from this one on one, which he didn't, you would
- 32:42Speaker 1: have no problem looking into his DMS and seeing a
- 32:45Speaker 1: bunch of people say you should date my mom.
- 32:48Speaker 2: He might have no problem becoming the next bat Golden Bachelor.
- 32:52Speaker 2: I still think that that's being reserved remark. But holy moly,
- 32:54Speaker 2: is Jonathan a close second there? Now. Listen, Jonathan is
- 33:00Speaker 2: not just worried about what you said. He's also about,
- 33:03Speaker 2: you know, being alone after all this. He's worried about
- 33:06Speaker 2: being surprised by the dumping because he was surprised by
- 33:11Speaker 2: his wife just turning to him one morning, completely out
- 33:14Speaker 2: of the blue and saying I want a divorce.
- 33:16Speaker 1: Good point.
- 33:17Speaker 2: So okay, then, Gary, Well, we already talked about how
- 33:22Speaker 2: she sits down with the guys before the cocktail party
- 33:25Speaker 2: and says, like, you know, I need to like really
- 33:29Speaker 2: just be myself and let down this curtain with you guys.
- 33:33Speaker 2: Gary comes here to give her a little pep talk
- 33:35Speaker 2: about all that. I think it really was helpful sometimes
- 33:39Speaker 2: I feel like these cameos from past contestants the you know,
- 33:44Speaker 2: sometimes they are trivial, but this one I actually felt
- 33:46Speaker 2: like she really needed it and it was cathartic.
- 33:49Speaker 1: I think it's a good moment for Joan, and it's
- 33:52Speaker 1: also a good reminder of where she came from and
- 33:55Speaker 1: that if Gary can do it, she can do it too,
- 33:57Speaker 1: and I think it was a great moment for her
- 33:59Speaker 1: to move forward. It takes us to the very end
- 34:02Speaker 1: of the episode where we have a few guys going home. Greg,
- 34:07Speaker 1: c k and Kim are sent home. Any kind of surprises.
- 34:13Speaker 2: There, No, I thought Kim was gonna get sent home
- 34:16Speaker 2: song or not. Just didn't vibe that. And the biggest
- 34:21Speaker 2: shocker towards the end of the episode for me is
- 34:24Speaker 2: just as always scenes for the next episode, because it
- 34:28Speaker 2: really looks like Chock is going home and Ben, we
- 34:31Speaker 2: talked about Chock and what a front runner we thought
- 34:34Speaker 2: he was last week, and damn, I really I left
- 34:38Speaker 2: this episode thinking that he might be definitely like yeah,
- 34:44Speaker 2: that he might be top three and then he leaves
- 34:47Speaker 2: and it's kind of almost reminiscent of Joan leaving on
- 34:50Speaker 2: Gary season because I think Joan could have gone basically
- 34:53Speaker 2: that far as.
- 34:54Speaker 1: Well, Yeah, do you think it happens next episode? Though?
- 34:58Speaker 2: Yeah, it really make they make it seem it's next episode.
- 35:01Speaker 2: And I don't think he would leave on his own
- 35:04Speaker 2: unless it is also a family matter. So we'll see.
- 35:07Speaker 2: There's one part of the Gary Bachelor convo that I
- 35:10Speaker 2: do want to mention that I thought was significant. He
- 35:14Speaker 2: said she said together that like, they're not looking for
- 35:18Speaker 2: partners that they had. They're not looking for replacements. They're
- 35:21Speaker 2: looking for like almost a totally different person because they're
- 35:26Speaker 2: in such different places of their life now at this age,
- 35:29Speaker 2: because they're not going to be raising kids at them,
- 35:31Speaker 2: you know, they're not going to be going through their
- 35:33Speaker 2: career with them.
- 35:35Speaker 1: Yeah, you can't find a replacement for the person of
- 35:39Speaker 1: your past, but you can find something new, unless we
- 35:41Speaker 1: hope for Joan. As she continues on with her journey,
- 35:44Speaker 1: all right, to close out here, Ashley, I need your
- 35:46Speaker 1: top three after this week?
- 35:49Speaker 2: Well, can I put Chalk in it?
- 35:51Speaker 1: Yeah, you can put whoever you want who's still there.
- 35:54Speaker 2: Well, I guess it wouldn't. I wouldn't be very good
- 35:57Speaker 2: at predicting things if I said Chuck would be in
- 36:01Speaker 2: the top three, since they're basically telling us he's not
- 36:03Speaker 2: gonna be there. Okay, I'm gonna still say John Mark and.
- 36:11Speaker 1: Keith Okay, I'm going Mark Jonathan.
- 36:16Speaker 2: Yeah, I said John Yeah. I met Jonathan by the way, said.
- 36:19Speaker 1: John Jonathan and Guy. Guys gonna stick into it for me.
- 36:24Speaker 1: He's writing this to the end. If I was a
- 36:27Speaker 1: betting man, which sometimes I am in Vegas, I would
- 36:29Speaker 1: put money on Guy. The odds have to be fantastic. Hey,
