- 0:00Speaker 1: Nice opening start for your team today.
- 0:03Speaker 2: Yeah, you never really know what you're going to get
- 0:06Speaker 2: after the other team kind of has a little advantage
- 0:09Speaker 2: because they've already gotten the jitters out and their awards
- 0:11Speaker 2: and all that yesterday, so you never really know how
- 0:14Speaker 2: you're going to start out. We've been haven't played for
- 0:16Speaker 2: a week, but I thought we played. You know, our
- 0:18Speaker 2: defense was just really good the entire day.
- 0:22Speaker 1: Oh, let me treat it much. Yeah, your mic was on.
- 0:26Speaker 1: But they looked fresh as well.
- 0:27Speaker 3: It almost you say, you worry about those jitters and
- 0:30Speaker 3: maybe some of us not playing for all this week,
- 0:32Speaker 3: but yeah, everything just they just look fresh and ready
- 0:35Speaker 3: to go, like hype, ready to play for the play.
- 0:37Speaker 2: Well, you know, at this time of the year, practices
- 0:39Speaker 2: are shorter and there's not much you can change. You
- 0:43Speaker 2: might tweak some things and and make add a few things,
- 0:47Speaker 2: you're not going to change anything drastic, So it's really
- 0:50Speaker 2: about getting your work done. Yesterday we probably went about
- 0:53Speaker 2: an hour and then we walked through some stuff.
- 0:56Speaker 1: You know, that we wanted to do. It was it
- 0:58Speaker 1: was good.
- 0:59Speaker 2: In the last week has been good, so I think
- 1:01Speaker 2: they're refreshed. I think they're ready to go.
- 1:03Speaker 4: Sarah Williams has turned things out here. It seems like
- 1:06Speaker 4: our confidence level has gone up a lot.
- 1:09Speaker 1: You know.
- 1:09Speaker 2: I think the last two games have certainly been more
- 1:12Speaker 2: of the Sarah Williams that we want to see and
- 1:14Speaker 2: need to see. And I think she's just playing with
- 1:17Speaker 2: a lot of confidence right now.
- 1:18Speaker 4: What is it just a confidence? It's different? Is what's
- 1:21Speaker 4: changed in her ways?
- 1:22Speaker 2: No, I you know, I think it's hard for people
- 1:25Speaker 2: outside our program to understand that it's difficult to come in.
- 1:30Speaker 2: And you know, she's coming from a program that has
- 1:33Speaker 2: never won to a program where everything matters, Everything at
- 1:37Speaker 2: practice matters, everything that we do matters. And you know,
- 1:41Speaker 2: I don't think it's as easy as people think, and
- 1:45Speaker 2: she being the kind of kid she is trying to
- 1:47Speaker 2: find her way and fit in and not to try,
- 1:50Speaker 2: you know, just to It's not easy, and sometimes it
- 1:53Speaker 2: takes kids, some people longer than others. I think with
- 1:56Speaker 2: post players it might take people. You know, it might
- 1:58Speaker 2: take you a little bit longer then maybe guards, because
- 2:01Speaker 2: guards you have the ball in your hands more often
- 2:03Speaker 2: you don't have control. When you're a post player. You
- 2:05Speaker 2: either get it when you get it you don't. So
- 2:08Speaker 2: I think there's a little bit of all of that
- 2:10Speaker 2: and you know, maybe overthinking it. And now I hope
- 2:13Speaker 2: that she just feels like she can just play and
- 2:16Speaker 2: that's what she's doing.
- 2:18Speaker 3: It seemed third quarter was a little bit of a
- 2:20Speaker 3: funk for both teams as far as not getting the
- 2:22Speaker 3: ball to drop, and it's seem a lot of physicality.
- 2:26Speaker 2: It was disjointed. I thought the third quarters felt disjointed,
- 2:31Speaker 2: But it was a physical game. They're a physical team.
- 2:33Speaker 2: And I say this, Tar guys all the time. If
- 2:36Speaker 2: you were playing us, you would compete and know that
- 2:40Speaker 2: you don't have the same talent level maybe so you're
- 2:42Speaker 2: going to be more physical and you're going to do
- 2:44Speaker 2: the things that teams do to try to win. And
- 2:47Speaker 2: that's what they were doing, and that's what I think.
- 2:50Speaker 2: You know, we face that a number of times a share,
- 2:52Speaker 2: and we have to handle that, and we can't let
- 2:56Speaker 2: teams be more aggressive or more physical than we are,
- 2:59Speaker 2: and we have to be smart about it. We don't
- 3:01Speaker 2: want to have dumb fowls. You know, I thought Blanca
- 3:05Speaker 2: had two quick bowels in the first half, but and
- 3:09Speaker 2: I don't know how much of that played a role
- 3:10Speaker 2: in the second in that third quarter, but it's not
- 3:14Speaker 2: an easy you know, they're physical and it's not easy
- 3:17Speaker 2: to play against that all the time.
- 3:19Speaker 1: No, that's for sure.
- 3:20Speaker 4: You got to be happy for Kk Aaron first team
- 3:23Speaker 4: All Big Eie selection.
- 3:25Speaker 1: She had some big shoes to fill as the.
- 3:27Speaker 4: Starting point guard without without the Caitlin Chan or page
- 3:30Speaker 4: backers last season.
- 3:31Speaker 1: But boy, she has really improved a lot.
- 3:33Speaker 4: So is Kaylee Hackle big step from the start of
- 3:35Speaker 4: the year, and Ali'sabelle.
- 3:36Speaker 1: Those three have really taken big steps.
- 3:38Speaker 2: Well, you know, I think we forget KK had to
- 3:40Speaker 2: start as a freshman under Durest because we didn't have
- 3:43Speaker 2: a whole lot of other options in that first year,
- 3:46Speaker 2: and so she was thrown into the fire. And then
- 3:49Speaker 2: last year she was able to adjust coming off the bench,
- 3:51Speaker 2: and so this year, I think she's grown up a
- 3:54Speaker 2: lot and I think that, you know, her being acknowledged
- 3:58Speaker 2: is a reflection of that of the things that she
- 4:01Speaker 2: does for us. And you know, we like we tell
- 4:05Speaker 2: our players it's a team award. If we're not as
- 4:08Speaker 2: good as we are, we don't have as many players recognized.
- 4:11Speaker 2: I thought everyone that was recognized deserved to be recognized.
- 4:15Speaker 2: But if we're at the bottom of the league or
- 4:17Speaker 2: even in the middle, we don't have that, so that's
- 4:19Speaker 2: also a reflection of the way we play in our team,
- 4:22Speaker 2: and even the coaching award, you know that that's a
- 4:25Speaker 2: reflection of the players that we have and how hard
- 4:28Speaker 2: they play.
- 4:29Speaker 3: I liked the nod to actually Shade for honorable mention too,
- 4:32Speaker 3: because I think she may get lost her value how
- 4:36Speaker 3: balbulous she is two team when you have everyone else
- 4:39Speaker 3: getting some of those accolades.
- 4:40Speaker 2: We know, it's funny. Ash is one of those players
- 4:42Speaker 2: that you never feel like you have to take her
- 4:45Speaker 2: out because she never gets tired. She you know, you're
- 4:48Speaker 2: always going to have this second and third effort. She's
- 4:51Speaker 2: really made a concerted effort to hit the offensive glass.
- 4:55Speaker 2: She'll chase down people and so sometimes what we'll look
- 4:59Speaker 2: back on the stat sheet and we'll be like, oh, gosh,
- 5:02Speaker 2: Ash played thirty minutes. But you know, you don't think
- 5:05Speaker 2: of it because you just don't have to take her
- 5:06Speaker 2: out because she's never tired. So I'm glad also that
- 5:09Speaker 2: she is recognized. Like I said, we've had a lot
- 5:11Speaker 2: of players that you know, there are different players that could.
- 5:13Speaker 1: Be recognized in each game.
- 5:15Speaker 2: Ash has been that third scorer for us in a
- 5:17Speaker 2: number of times, and we've kind of that third score
- 5:21Speaker 2: has been a lot of different people, and so that's
- 5:24Speaker 2: a good thing because I think at any time she
- 5:27Speaker 2: could get hot or get a lot of shots, more shots,
- 5:31Speaker 2: and end up with twenty points. So I think that's
- 5:33Speaker 2: the danger of our team, and it's also the beauty
- 5:36Speaker 2: of the team.
- 5:37Speaker 1: All right, back at it in twenty four hours. Yep,
- 5:39Speaker 1: we'll see you then.
- 5:40Speaker 2: All right, can't wait?
- 5:41Speaker 1: What scout do you have? One of these scouts?
- 5:44Speaker 2: I do not have the.
- 5:44Speaker 1: Next scout, so you can watch.
- 5:47Speaker 2: Well, yeah, but I have others in case he wins.
- 5:49Speaker 1: I understand that for a victory. Yes, so you got
- 5:52Speaker 1: to come back later. Well say, that's a good thing
- 5:55Speaker 1: about TV. I don't have to that's true. All right,
- 6:00Speaker 1: Thanks Chris,
