- 0:00Speaker 1: Now Ron verb on news radio, five 70 WKBN.
- 0:05Speaker 2: Well, good afternoon. Three Oh five in the afternoon. It's
- 0:08Speaker 2: 80 degrees. It's a lovely day on Tuesday, August 25th.
- 0:11Speaker 2: Already Ron verb from the kingdom of Mahoney. We are
- 0:14Speaker 2: underway here at three, three, zero seven, two nine 99 77.
- 0:16Speaker 2: It's Tuesday, right? Yes. Three, three, zero seven, two nine
- 0:21Speaker 2: 99 77. We'll get you through to us here on
- 0:23Speaker 2: news radio, five 70 WKBN. So keep that in mind. Um,
- 0:29Speaker 2: I got to tell you on yesterday's broadcast on yesterday's broadcast,
- 0:35Speaker 2: it is, I've been laughing all, uh, all day till
- 0:41Speaker 2: I heard the sad news about Dolly Parton. But, uh,
- 0:44Speaker 2: I got to tell you, JJ, the Trumpster, his calls
- 0:47Speaker 2: are just getting better and better and better. I mean,
- 0:51Speaker 2: if you, if you were listening yesterday at all, um,
- 0:56Speaker 2: When he was talking about how he was so busy
- 1:00Speaker 2: over the weekend and what he was doing, I was
- 1:02Speaker 2: just reflecting on his call after he did it yesterday
- 1:06Speaker 2: in a program and today. And it still makes me
- 1:11Speaker 2: smile and laugh. I mean, he was just— J. J. is a
- 1:15Speaker 2: great actor. He really is like theater of the mind.
- 1:18Speaker 3: J.J.
- 1:18Speaker 2: The liberal, a.k.a. J.J. the Trumpster now, since he did
- 1:22Speaker 2: have electric shock therapy. And how about what he calls
- 1:27Speaker 2: up getting angry at people when they're getting on saying
- 1:30Speaker 2: nasty things about Trump and that kind of stuff. So
- 1:34Speaker 2: now he's JJ the Trumpster because of electric shock therapy.
- 1:37Speaker 2: I mean, it's really clever. I mean, he's really brought
- 1:40Speaker 2: a smile to my face here. Anyway, in a sadness today,
- 1:44Speaker 2: what is this is really this is unique in the
- 1:49Speaker 2: sense of I'm genuinely saddened by the passing of Dolly Parton.
- 1:55Speaker 2: I mean, I'm genuinely saddened by it. And, you know,
- 1:59Speaker 2: as I sit down here today, I'm saddened by it.
- 2:03Speaker 2: Isn't that strange? Somebody that I've never met in person,
- 2:07Speaker 2: and I've never met her in person, but... I'm certainly
- 2:09Speaker 2: familiar with watching her on television sing and listening to
- 2:14Speaker 2: her music and watching her. She was just such a
- 2:17Speaker 2: ball of energy to me. There's this much I love
- 2:21Speaker 2: about Dolly Parton. She was just so upbeat of a person,
- 2:26Speaker 2: such a positive person. She was just a positive person
- 2:30Speaker 2: when she was performing. Dolly Parton wasn't there like Bruce
- 2:34Speaker 2: Springsteen and these people talking about politics or how you
- 2:37Speaker 2: should vote. Or any of that nonsense. Dolly Parton was
- 2:41Speaker 2: simply there as an entertainer to entertain. And she was positive.
- 2:48Speaker 2: She was upbeat. She was energetic. And just a terrific
- 2:54Speaker 2: writer and singer. And the times that I would see
- 2:59Speaker 2: her on some of her performances on YouTube or wherever
- 3:03Speaker 2: you would see some of them. It was just a
- 3:07Speaker 2: pleasure to watch. Now, I never had the opportunity to
- 3:09Speaker 2: see her in person. I was talking to my one
- 3:11Speaker 2: buddy Dave today, and he saw her. He goes to
- 3:15Speaker 2: a lot of country shows, and he said Dolly Parton
- 3:17Speaker 2: was probably the best show. It was probably the best
- 3:20Speaker 2: show for him. I mean, it was probably the best
- 3:26Speaker 2: show that he's seen. And he sees a lot of
- 3:28Speaker 2: country shows. It kind of saddens me because I know
- 3:33Speaker 2: that she was not feeling well for a period of time.
- 3:36Speaker 2: And you were kind of hoping that she would get
- 3:40Speaker 2: back out and perform again. And maybe, just maybe, you'd
- 3:43Speaker 2: get an opportunity to catch one of her shows. So positive,
- 3:48Speaker 2: so upbeat, so energetic. What a great entertainer. What an
- 3:54Speaker 2: absolute great entertainer. Great songwriter, great performer. And it's sad.
- 4:00Speaker 2: And yet... even though you've never met her, there's like
- 4:04Speaker 2: a sadness that you have that you feel a sadness,
- 4:09Speaker 2: you know, breaks your heart. You feel a sadness. Isn't
- 4:11Speaker 2: that a strange connection that you're going to have to people?
- 4:17Speaker 2: I mean, because you feel like you really genuinely do
- 4:20Speaker 2: know her just from over the years. And it's just
- 4:25Speaker 2: kind of sad. And it reminds you time marches on.
- 4:27Speaker 2: It doesn't matter how much money you have. It doesn't
- 4:29Speaker 2: matter how important you are. We all meet our maker
- 4:32Speaker 2: at some point, so you better enjoy a lot of
- 4:37Speaker 2: your life. And she was married to that. Can you
- 4:39Speaker 2: imagine her husband who stayed pretty well out of the limelight,
- 4:42Speaker 2: and she never got divorced, stayed married to him, and
- 4:46Speaker 2: just was kind of impressive. So that part is sad today.
- 4:54Speaker 2: It is sad. Comments?
- 5:04Speaker 4: 330-729-9977.
- 5:05Speaker 2: Almost forgot the phone number from it. I was thinking
- 5:10Speaker 2: about Dolly Parton. 330-729-9977. 330-729-9977. I mentioned about JJ's call
- 5:15Speaker 2: yesterday and the joy of it. I had another call
- 5:19Speaker 2: yesterday that was just really, really entertaining. A woman called me.
- 5:22Speaker 2: She's like 85 years old. And she was just very interesting.
- 5:28Speaker 2: you know, sometimes a lot, a lot of times people say, well,
- 5:30Speaker 2: I don't know. Uh, sometimes I stopped talking about, uh,
- 5:34Speaker 2: Trump and politics and stuff like that. And just enjoy
- 5:37Speaker 2: a time. I really enjoyed my conversation with her just
- 5:40Speaker 2: as I enjoy my conversations with fifth Avenue. Um, even
- 5:43Speaker 2: though sometimes he wants to talk politics, but, uh, it
- 5:47Speaker 2: brings me joy just to have, um, outside of political
- 5:51Speaker 2: conversations with fifth Avenue. And, uh, Because I sense him
- 5:56Speaker 2: as a guy that's really enjoying his retirement and just
- 6:01Speaker 2: his life, which is kind of cool. Just the diversity, gang,
- 6:05Speaker 2: the diversity of the program. That's what I'm here to say,
- 6:08Speaker 2: the diversity of it. You're on the air.
- 6:11Speaker 3: How you doing, Ron?
- 6:14Speaker 2: There he is from Fort Lauderdale. It's Frank. Some love him,
- 6:19Speaker 2: some hate him. But we always welcome them. And I
- 6:23Speaker 2: think economically you've been more spot on as to what's
- 6:26Speaker 2: going on. By the way, let me pick your brain
- 6:29Speaker 2: a little bit. What do you make of this latest
- 6:31Speaker 2: move that they're doing against Iran, if you will, with
- 6:38Speaker 2: the monetary bomb they say they're using?
- 6:43Speaker 3: Well, it's not going to work. And I don't believe
- 6:47Speaker 3: the world is facing a shortage of oil. because of
- 6:51Speaker 3: the Iran war, the damage to the global economy is
- 6:56Speaker 3: higher shipping rates, higher insurance premiums, refinery margins, higher diesel prices,
- 7:06Speaker 3: higher electricity costs. I could go on and on. Wait, wait, wait.
- 7:13Speaker 3: Don't forget the higher cost of government borrowing, Ron.
- 7:17Speaker 2: And I want people to listen to what you're saying.
- 7:19Speaker 2: Because as you're talking, Frank, and a lot of people don't,
- 7:22Speaker 2: we look at the diesel price. Now it's like if
- 7:25Speaker 2: I see it at $ 4, I want to go fill up.
- 7:29Speaker 2: Because I see it places that it would be $ 4. 20, $ 4. 30.
- 7:32Speaker 2: And some of these oil guys say, hey, the worst
- 7:36Speaker 2: is yet to come. Basically, they continue to say, you've
- 7:40Speaker 2: got about 30 million less barrels of oil a day
- 7:43Speaker 2: on a closed straight. That's a big hole that you're digging.
- 7:47Speaker 2: The problem is there's a shortage of oil because of
- 7:51Speaker 2: the lack of being able to transport it in that sense.
- 7:56Speaker 2: But you're 100% right. We are under attack. My electric
- 7:59Speaker 2: bill has doubled. Gas is high. And I looked at
- 8:03Speaker 2: diesel the other day. I don't use it. But guess what?
- 8:08Speaker 2: I need it for people to drive trucks. and farm
- 8:11Speaker 2: tractors and all that. Diesel's very important. And I think
- 8:14Speaker 2: it was like $ 5. 75 a gallon. I mean, if I'm
- 8:18Speaker 2: not mistaken, does that sound right to you, truckers out there,
- 8:23Speaker 2: $ 5. 75 a gallon? And jet fuel, I was reading about
- 8:26Speaker 2: jet fuel, and that is just through the roof expensive
- 8:30Speaker 2: right now. I mean, it's a huge problem getting it,
- 8:34Speaker 2: and the airline's got a serious problem. Some of them
- 8:37Speaker 2: are even canceling some of the flights. Have you seen that?
- 8:42Speaker 3: No, not recently, but, you know, even if the Straits
- 8:45Speaker 3: of Hormuz is open, if insuring ships is too costly,
- 8:51Speaker 3: or if the crews refuse to accept the risk, it
- 8:54Speaker 3: has the same effect of being closed or there being
- 8:58Speaker 3: an actual shortage of oil.
- 9:00Speaker 2: Yeah, well, if you have, what, 20 or 30 less
- 9:02Speaker 2: million barrels on the market a day... as we've had
- 9:06Speaker 2: for quite some time, you definitely, and we've been draining
- 9:09Speaker 2: our strategic oil reserves. Well, you've kind of been delaying
- 9:12Speaker 2: the inevitable, wouldn't you say, as far as prices going up?
- 9:17Speaker 5: Sure.
- 9:18Speaker 3: And I keep an eye on diesel because global economies
- 9:23Speaker 3: run on diesel. Trucks transport food and consumer goods. Farmers
- 9:30Speaker 3: operate machinery. Construction companies operate operate heavy equipment, and emergency generators,
- 9:39Speaker 3: protect hospitals from power shortages. They all need diesel. And
- 9:44Speaker 3: when diesel prices rise, the price of everything rises with it.
- 9:50Speaker 2: Right. And you bring up a good point, the cost
- 9:53Speaker 2: of diesel as well as, I don't know if it's
- 9:55Speaker 2: different or not, the fuel that you use for shipping.
- 9:58Speaker 2: I don't know if that's diesel or it's a different,
- 10:01Speaker 2: all right, shipping, big deal. And I know jet fuel
- 10:06Speaker 2: is different, but there's big issues in all three of
- 10:09Speaker 2: those arenas. just because of this nonsense that he started.
- 10:14Speaker 2: I mean, he's got this, he's got this whole situation.
- 10:18Speaker 2: He being Trump so messed up as far as the
- 10:21Speaker 2: price of everything. And, And now remember, we're going to
- 10:24Speaker 2: bomb them back to the Stone Age. Everything keeps changing
- 10:27Speaker 2: with it. We got them on the ropes. They want
- 10:30Speaker 2: to negotiate a settlement. We heard that 35 times. We
- 10:35Speaker 2: got the 60-day ceasefire. They want to negotiate. Well, we
- 10:38Speaker 2: did that once. We did that twice. Then he would
- 10:41Speaker 2: constantly say, we're going to bomb them back to the
- 10:42Speaker 2: Stone Age. Now we're not even talking about that anymore.
- 10:45Speaker 2: Now we're talking about these economic sanctions. We're going to
- 10:48Speaker 2: get them this way. This is a way. This is
- 10:50Speaker 2: going to do them in. And I keep saying to people... Iran,
- 10:54Speaker 2: all they have to do is survive to win. If
- 10:57Speaker 2: they can simply survive, then they win.
- 11:01Speaker 3: Well, Ron, I want to add more to your question
- 11:04Speaker 3: to me on Iran. Every vessel delayed or redirected reduces
- 11:11Speaker 3: available shipping capacity and increases freight rates everywhere. And insurers
- 11:18Speaker 3: must reprice the probability of a tanker being captured damaged
- 11:23Speaker 3: or destroyed, and refineries must compete for alternative supplies. Now,
- 11:30Speaker 3: countries dependent upon Gulf energy begin building precautionary inventories, and
- 11:37Speaker 3: energy traders add a geopolitical premium to guess the probability
- 11:43Speaker 3: of a missile striking a ship or a refinery or
- 11:47Speaker 3: a pipeline or an export terminal, and that's a lot
- 11:51Speaker 3: of uncertainty there. But I also wanted to say that
- 11:56Speaker 3: long-term bond yields are rising in the U.S., Europe, and
- 12:01Speaker 3: Japan because governments can't keep massive spending and they can't
- 12:06Speaker 3: keep borrowing without limit. And, you know, the national debt
- 12:12Speaker 3: is now over $ 40 trillion as of last Tuesday. Let
- 12:17Speaker 3: me quote one economist. He said, what we have done
- 12:20Speaker 3: to our grandchildren... is beyond criminal. We've condemned them to
- 12:25Speaker 3: a future of poverty and indebtedness. And Israel and the
- 12:31Speaker 3: politicians have destroyed the future of the country. Ron, the
- 12:36Speaker 3: yield on 30-year Treasury bonds just reached 5.3 percent, the
- 12:41Speaker 3: highest in 20 years. And Treasury Secretary Scott Besson said
- 12:46Speaker 3: he is going to double the size of government debt
- 12:49Speaker 3: buybacks And yields on government debt had a big drop
- 12:54Speaker 3: on the news, but it worked for only one day.
- 12:57Speaker 3: The next day, they spiked again. And yields on 10-year
- 13:02Speaker 3: treasuries are the main benchmark for auto loans and mortgages.
- 13:09Speaker 3: They're not now spiking, too. We just can't keep on
- 13:13Speaker 3: borrowing and spending the way we're doing. Oh, 10-year treasuries
- 13:18Speaker 3: also have impact credit card debts. And we, American consumers,
- 13:24Speaker 3: have the highest credit card debt in history.
- 13:27Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 13:28Speaker 2: There's not a lot of good news out there as
- 13:30Speaker 2: far as it goes. And I don't see any efforts, really,
- 13:33Speaker 2: to do anything to get spending under control. And if
- 13:38Speaker 2: you really look at it, the issue of Social Security in, what,
- 13:44Speaker 2: seven years? Medicare. I mean, there's some serious problems that
- 13:49Speaker 2: need to be dealt with and addressed as far as
- 13:52Speaker 2: as far as where we're going with all of this,
- 13:55Speaker 2: and there's lack of activity on it. Do away with
- 13:59Speaker 2: the cap and solve the problem. Infuse some money in it.
- 14:03Speaker 2: But stop spending all of this money on all these
- 14:06Speaker 2: foreign countries. We simply can't afford it. The people that
- 14:10Speaker 2: charge both Republicans and Democrats, Frank, they don't really seem
- 14:13Speaker 2: to give a damn what they're doing to future generations
- 14:16Speaker 2: or what they're doing to us, the current generation, by
- 14:19Speaker 2: driving this thing so far into the ground.
- 14:22Speaker 3: Well, you know, both Republican and Democrat voters keep voting
- 14:27Speaker 3: in these big spenders. They don't seem to care about
- 14:31Speaker 3: the future of the country and their grandchildren and great-grandchildren. But,
- 14:37Speaker 3: you know, there's no way out. The country is bankrupt,
- 14:45Speaker 3: and they just keep kicking the can down the road,
- 14:48Speaker 3: like with the bailing out the Japanese yen.
- 14:52Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 14:53Speaker 3: You know, they're very clever. They don't want Japan to
- 14:57Speaker 3: sell massive amounts of treasuries to pay for oil and food.
- 15:03Speaker 2: Right, because then interest rates would go up on the treasuries.
- 15:07Speaker 2: It was in our selfish interest to do what we
- 15:09Speaker 2: did to bail out Japan because they didn't want... Japan
- 15:12Speaker 2: has a trillion dollars in treasuries. If they start selling
- 15:14Speaker 2: a bunch of them off, they say the treasury rate
- 15:17Speaker 2: will go up and then the debt will go up
- 15:18Speaker 2: even more. This country, they put it in a fiscal mess.
- 15:23Speaker 2: A fiscal mess.
- 15:26Speaker 3: Well, Ron, you're absolutely right because they didn't do it
- 15:29Speaker 3: because they love Japan. They did not want... Treasury yields
- 15:35Speaker 3: to spike higher if Japan had massive sell-offs of their treasuries.
- 15:42Speaker 3: They want to keep spending and spending and spending and
- 15:47Speaker 3: have lower yields on bonds. So they can keep spending like...
- 15:53Speaker 3: Drunken sailors.
- 15:54Speaker 2: Totally oblivious to the debts. It says oil drops as U.S.
- 15:58Speaker 2: shifts to economic pressure on Iran, easing fears of renewed war. Well,
- 16:04Speaker 2: guess what? We'll see how it works out and see
- 16:07Speaker 2: what happens with oil. All right, Frank, appreciate your insight.
- 16:12Speaker 2: I thank you for it. All right, Frank. Frank's been
- 16:15Speaker 2: more right than he has been wrong when he talks
- 16:18Speaker 2: about some of the stuff going on economically. For all
- 16:21Speaker 2: of those Frank haters out there, maybe they should listen.
- 16:24Speaker 2: News Radio 570 WQN, 322 in the afternoon. On News
- 16:30Speaker 2: Radio 570 WQN, let me see here. You're on here.
- 16:35Speaker 6: I'll meet Ebenezer Badmouth and Drunken Sailors.
- 16:38Speaker 2: Well, listen.
- 16:39Speaker 6: That's where it ends for me.
- 16:41Speaker 2: You're a fan of the Drunken Sailor?
- 16:44Speaker 6: That's a good time. Can you say you've been at
- 16:48Speaker 6: the Waffle House at 3 a.m. with the Navy SEAL
- 16:51Speaker 6: and three strippers?
- 16:52Speaker 2: I can. That's a good time, brother. Stand by. Back
- 16:56Speaker 2: with you and more in a minute. Weather and Talk
- 17:02Speaker 2: Station 570 WKBN. Well, Heidi Ho, 325, 80 degrees. Ron
- 17:08Speaker 2: Verp from the Kingdom of Mahoney. All right, Jake, go
- 17:11Speaker 2: ahead with your insight of the day.
- 17:16Speaker 6: Yeah, this, you know, negativity. There's nothing that can be done. Really?
- 17:25Speaker 2: I think people expect more to be done than what
- 17:29Speaker 2: is being done. I mean, when people are talking about
- 17:31Speaker 2: the $ 40 trillion debt, listen, it's disturbing because it is
- 17:36Speaker 2: strapping this country. It's ridiculous. Yeah.
- 17:41Speaker 6: But you can't go through a good life saying there's
- 17:46Speaker 6: nothing that can be done. Okay, all right, that's a
- 17:50Speaker 6: defeatist attitude, just give up. Okay, what do I do,
- 17:53Speaker 6: close up shop and huddle in my house?
- 17:58Speaker 2: I don't think that's his point. I think his point
- 18:00Speaker 2: is it's sad that nothing's getting done. Something should have
- 18:03Speaker 2: been done long ago, and still nothing is getting done.
- 18:07Speaker 2: You're seeing a $ 40 trillion debt continue to grow. Now
- 18:12Speaker 2: they're finagling to try to keep interest rates down. On
- 18:16Speaker 2: the $ 40 trillion that they owe. But they're still adding
- 18:18Speaker 2: to the debt every day. And interest rates are ticking up. Well,
- 18:23Speaker 2: you've heard this. And instead of if you owed money
- 18:28Speaker 2: and you went from one credit card and put it
- 18:30Speaker 2: on another one, that doesn't solve the problem. It just
- 18:33Speaker 2: delays the inevitable.
- 18:35Speaker 6: It doesn't? Yes, you're absolutely correct. And you know about
- 18:40Speaker 6: compound interest, right?
- 18:42Speaker 5: Well, what happens?
- 18:43Speaker 6: So Trump came in. Now, he didn't get everything right,
- 18:48Speaker 6: but that's what was going to happen. Now, we're still
- 18:51Speaker 6: trying to figure out how we can stop it. I
- 18:55Speaker 6: get it. You don't like this, blah, blah, blah. And
- 18:59Speaker 6: the other guy got me the other day.
- 19:01Speaker 2: Okay, well, wait a second. Pause for a second. I
- 19:04Speaker 2: applauded Elon Musk and what he was doing, where they
- 19:10Speaker 2: were talking almost $ 2 trillion a year in just ridiculous spending.
- 19:15Speaker 2: But what happened to Elon Musk? I mean, he had
- 19:17Speaker 2: the technology and the people, and they destroyed the man. They,
- 19:22Speaker 2: being the Democrat Party, did everything they could do from
- 19:26Speaker 2: terrorizing his customers, firebombing his dealerships, calling him all kinds
- 19:32Speaker 2: of names.
- 19:33Speaker 6: Just regular people's cars, destroying regular people's cars.
- 19:36Speaker 2: So he had to leave his mission to go back
- 19:39Speaker 2: and address his company. And the Democrats view that as
- 19:42Speaker 2: a great victory. And I'm sure some Republicans, too, viewed
- 19:46Speaker 2: it as a great victory because he's gone. And I
- 19:50Speaker 2: thought to myself, you're not going to see anybody else
- 19:53Speaker 2: ever deal with this wasteful spending and expose it like
- 19:58Speaker 2: he was doing. And I bet you plenty of it
- 20:01Speaker 2: is still going on to this day. You've got a
- 20:02Speaker 2: military budget. They can't even complete an audit. That's ridiculous.
- 20:09Speaker 6: And it's everywhere, and it's everything. However, this is the
- 20:14Speaker 6: thing that, I don't know, that I'm looking at and saying, wow,
- 20:18Speaker 6: that lady in Minnesota went to jail, and she's going
- 20:21Speaker 6: to be there for 40 years.
- 20:23Speaker 5: Why?
- 20:24Speaker 3: Because of the fraud.
- 20:25Speaker 6: The fraud that the establishment said didn't exist. Oh, waste, fraud,
- 20:29Speaker 6: and abuse, that doesn't amount to anything. Oh, what did
- 20:34Speaker 6: Ebenezer say one time? Oh, it doesn't amount to a
- 20:37Speaker 6: tinker's dam.
- 20:38Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 20:39Speaker 6: Yes, it does. That's why we're in the position we're in,
- 20:42Speaker 6: because nobody cares about it except Donald Trump. And what
- 20:45Speaker 6: I'm saying is it's still happening every day. Somebody's going
- 20:49Speaker 6: to jail for fraud, for stealing from the U.S. taxpayers.
- 20:54Speaker 6: It's happening. It never happened in my life. It's happening now.
- 20:58Speaker 6: Is it as fast as we want? No. Is it
- 21:01Speaker 6: as much as we want? Do we want them under
- 21:03Speaker 6: the jail? Yes. But it's happening now. It never happened before.
- 21:09Speaker 2: Well, how about this when you're talking about oddities? I
- 21:12Speaker 2: was reading this this morning. The Department of Homeland Security
- 21:15Speaker 2: is calling out Boston Democrat Mayor, this Michelle Wu. She's
- 21:19Speaker 2: the mayor in Boston. They're saying she's unhinged her unhinged
- 21:24Speaker 2: effort to dissuade business owners from from leasing to the U.S.
- 21:28Speaker 2: Immigration and Customs Enforcement in the city. equating to hunting
- 21:32Speaker 2: down private property owners. This is the mayor of Boston.
- 21:37Speaker 2: And I'm reading this thinking, is this person even an American?
- 21:40Speaker 2: I mean, I can't figure this out. After Boston banned
- 21:43Speaker 2: ICE vehicles from using city-owned parking lots to stage operations...
- 21:48Speaker 2: ICE issued a notice seeking to rent hundreds of parking
- 21:51Speaker 2: spaces in the city for five years. In response, Wu
- 21:55Speaker 2: and outspoken opponents of President Donald Trump's immigration enforcement agenda
- 22:00Speaker 2: issued an open letter to parking garages and lot owners
- 22:03Speaker 2: shot Boston in which she revealed the city had submitted
- 22:06Speaker 2: a freedom of information request for any local response to ICE.
- 22:10Speaker 2: Stand by. I want to finish this with you. Hang
- 22:12Speaker 2: on a second. I'll come back to you in a minute.
- 22:14Speaker 2: Caught us in line. Stand by. Ron Verb, Tuesday afternoon
- 22:17Speaker 2: from the Kingdom of Mahoney. News Radio 570 WKVN.
- 22:22Speaker 4: Ron is set at $ 1. 1 million for a woman charged
- 22:27Speaker 4: in the fatal stabbing of a 21-year-old man in Toledo
- 22:30Speaker 4: on Saturday. 46-year-old Sophia Harris is accused of killing Tyler
- 22:34Speaker 4: McKee near Scott High School. McKee later died at the hospital.
- 22:38Speaker 4: There has been no word on a motive. The trial
- 22:41Speaker 4: is underway for a man accused of shooting his co-workers
- 22:44Speaker 4: at a new Albany warehouse. Bruce Foster III is pleading
- 22:47Speaker 4: not guilty by reason of insanity to four counts of
- 22:50Speaker 4: aggravated murder and other charges in connection with the 2025
- 22:54Speaker 4: attack that killed two people and injured four others. All
- 22:58Speaker 4: charges against a former Cincinnati City Council member are being
- 23:01Speaker 4: dismissed after being pardoned by President Trump last year. P.J.
- 23:05Speaker 4: Sittenfeld had been sentenced to 16 months in prison on
- 23:08Speaker 4: charges of bribery and attempted extortion in 2022. In addition,
- 23:12Speaker 4: the $ 40, 000 fine he paid must be returned. I'm Andy Betts.
- 23:29Speaker 1: Now, Ron Verb on NewsRadio 570 WKBN.
- 23:35Speaker 2: So get a load of this nut job. I just
- 23:38Speaker 2: want to pass this along to Jake here. So you
- 23:40Speaker 2: have this Wu, who's the mayor of Boston, and she
- 23:46Speaker 2: banned ICE vehicles from using any city-owned parking lots to
- 23:49Speaker 2: stage operations. ICE issued a notice seeking to rent hundreds
- 23:52Speaker 2: of parking spaces in the city for five years. In response, Wu,
- 23:56Speaker 2: an outspoken opponent of Trump, In his immigration enforcement agenda,
- 24:00Speaker 2: issued an open letter to parking garages and lot owners
- 24:03Speaker 2: throughout Boston, which she revealed the city had submitted a
- 24:06Speaker 2: freedom of information request for any local response to ICE.
- 24:10Speaker 2: In other words, for any local business who agreed to this,
- 24:14Speaker 2: she put in a Freedom of Information Act. DHS fired
- 24:17Speaker 2: back in an ex post writing that these actions by
- 24:20Speaker 2: Sanctuary Mayor Michelle Wu are unhinged. She knows she has
- 24:24Speaker 2: no authority to block us from using private property, so
- 24:28Speaker 2: she's hunting down private property owners and threatening them for
- 24:31Speaker 2: working with ICE because she'd rather intimidate law-abiding Bostonians than
- 24:36Speaker 2: get criminal aliens off the streets, wrote DHS. ICE issued
- 24:41Speaker 2: a source-sought notice last month for surge parking in 14
- 24:45Speaker 2: cities across the country. The notice revealed ICE was seeking
- 24:48Speaker 2: $ 249, 000 continuous parking spaces in Boston. In response, Wu issued
- 24:54Speaker 2: an official appeal from the city of Boston for garage
- 24:57Speaker 2: and lot owners to reject ICE staging facilities. She wrote
- 25:00Speaker 2: that were ICE to procure such resources, it would constitute
- 25:05Speaker 2: an unprovoked and unwarranted escalation, creating potentially significant risk to
- 25:09Speaker 2: the public safety and halting economic activity across our region.
- 25:13Speaker 2: She boasted that she joined together with six other cities
- 25:17Speaker 2: across greater Boston and signed executive orders prohibiting ICE from
- 25:21Speaker 2: staging its operations on municipal property and parking lots. Today,
- 25:25Speaker 2: I ask you to join us. Reject any proposition by
- 25:28Speaker 2: ICE to facilitate an attack on the people of Boston.
- 25:31Speaker 2: Wu also noted that the same day the city submitted
- 25:34Speaker 2: a FOIA request for any local responses to ICE. She
- 25:37Speaker 2: told the garage and lot owners, we will keep you
- 25:40Speaker 2: updated as we push for a response, adding, thank you
- 25:42Speaker 2: again for your partnership. So this is the mayor of Boston.
- 25:48Speaker 2: I read this article and thought, is this woman even
- 25:51Speaker 2: an American? I mean, that was my initial thing. You
- 25:55Speaker 2: want to do whatever you can do to prevent ICE
- 25:58Speaker 2: from going after people that are in this country illegally,
- 26:01Speaker 2: including people that are in here and have committed criminal
- 26:05Speaker 2: activities that are illegal. You're more concerned about them than people...
- 26:11Speaker 2: that are legally running their parking spaces to ice to
- 26:15Speaker 2: enforce the law. It's just you read this stuff. The
- 26:18Speaker 2: Democrats have just become so damn nutty. I mean, it
- 26:22Speaker 2: is nutty. I mean, this idea of, well, Medicare for all. Well,
- 26:26Speaker 2: wait a minute. You pay into Medicare all your life
- 26:29Speaker 2: and you've got to be 65 before you can get it.
- 26:32Speaker 2: And let's be realistic. Financially, it's not in the best
- 26:35Speaker 2: shape either. But they all want to say Medicare for all. Well,
- 26:38Speaker 2: how are you supposed to pay for all of that
- 26:41Speaker 2: since it's Medicare for all? You no longer have to
- 26:43Speaker 2: make it to 65. You no longer pay– you and
- 26:46Speaker 2: your employer pay into Medicare all your working life. Now
- 26:49Speaker 2: we just want to give it to everybody. I mean
- 26:51Speaker 2: all the Democrats want is more handouts to everything. Keep
- 26:56Speaker 2: the illegal people here. Give them handouts. Let's give Medicare
- 27:00Speaker 2: for all. They are just such– It's such a weird
- 27:05Speaker 2: party anymore. I don't know how, even if you despise Trump,
- 27:09Speaker 2: I don't know how you could vote for any Democrat
- 27:12Speaker 2: based on the platform that they're running on at all.
- 27:16Speaker 7: At all.
- 27:17Speaker 2: And to think Gavin Newsom's a disaster as a governor,
- 27:21Speaker 2: and to think for president, he's a disaster. And AOC
- 27:25Speaker 2: is a nitwit to be president. I mean, like I say,
- 27:30Speaker 2: I look at Ron DeSantis. He's intelligent. He's well-read. His
- 27:33Speaker 2: state is doing well. He runs a great state. I
- 27:36Speaker 2: would love to see him become president. But I think
- 27:39Speaker 2: he's got the credentials for it. Go ahead.
- 27:41Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 27:43Speaker 6: No, you're making my point exactly. And when somebody says
- 27:49Speaker 6: both of these Republicans and Democrats, that's true, except you've
- 27:53Speaker 6: got to work with something. So if 50% of the
- 27:57Speaker 6: Republicans are okay and the rest are John Spoon and
- 28:01Speaker 6: Mitch McConnell, you've got to deal with them because you
- 28:04Speaker 6: can't find 10% of Democrats that are even thinking straight.
- 28:10Speaker 6: We have to pick the pothead stroke victim, John Fetterman,
- 28:15Speaker 6: to be the standard bearer of American values in the
- 28:19Speaker 6: Democratic Party. Can you imagine that three years ago? Can
- 28:23Speaker 6: you imagine 10 years ago saying, well, you know what?
- 28:27Speaker 6: My son says he's a girl now, so we're going
- 28:30Speaker 6: to cut his thing off and call him Jill. And
- 28:34Speaker 6: what are you talking about? So with this whole fight,
- 28:38Speaker 6: I know some people are only concerned about bonds or
- 28:40Speaker 6: money or yields or whatever. That's fine. That's your deal.
- 28:44Speaker 6: But I have children, and I have to be concerned
- 28:48Speaker 6: about the whole thing. All right. I can't. I can't
- 28:51Speaker 6: have this Democrat Party doing what they're doing.
- 28:54Speaker 2: Oh, no, there's no way I could. I couldn't vote
- 28:57Speaker 2: for Sherrod Brown. Sherrod Brown's running ads like he was
- 29:00Speaker 2: never a senator. He's been around forever and supported all
- 29:03Speaker 2: of this nonsense. He's running ads like he's a newcomer, like, hey,
- 29:06Speaker 2: if I get elected, I'm going to do this. You've
- 29:08Speaker 2: been there forever. I know what you've done, and it
- 29:10Speaker 2: was a disaster. Thank you, Jake. You're on the air.
- 29:14Speaker 6: I am disgusted. How can you take.
- 29:19Speaker 5: A quarterback....
- 29:21Speaker 6: That has not won any games, and they booed the thing,
- 29:24Speaker 6: and they're going to start him on the opening day
- 29:28Speaker 6: of the Browns games.
- 29:31Speaker 4: What do you think?
- 29:32Speaker 2: I don't know. What do I think? I think it's
- 29:36Speaker 2: damn disappointing is what I think.
- 29:38Speaker 3: It is.
- 29:39Speaker 2: And I was looking. The Guardians won last night, right? Yeah,
- 29:43Speaker 2: they're doing, oh, this is the run they better do.
- 29:46Speaker 6: This is good, you know?
- 29:47Speaker 2: I think they're only, what, two and a half games out?
- 29:49Speaker 2: Two and a half games out. And last night I
- 29:53Speaker 2: was listening as I was laying in the rack. I
- 29:55Speaker 2: was listening to the Guardians game. And I made it
- 29:59Speaker 2: to the final, but then.
- 30:02Speaker 2: I didn't make it to the postgame show because it
- 30:04Speaker 2: was like lights out. It was pretty late, wasn't it? Yes,
- 30:07Speaker 2: but at least they won, and they're two and a
- 30:10Speaker 2: half games out. So they're on the comeback trail, and
- 30:14Speaker 2: let's hope they continue to do that. I can't even
- 30:17Speaker 2: think about the Browns right now, other than how disappointing
- 30:20Speaker 2: that is.
- 30:21Speaker 5: It is.
- 30:23Speaker 2: I waited.
- 30:24Speaker 6: I waited.
- 30:25Speaker 2: I tried to call three times. I was on hold,
- 30:27Speaker 2: but I guess that.
- 30:29Speaker 6: Everybody, their frustration.
- 30:32Speaker 2: Nobody likes it. It's frustrating. So I'm hoping, let's see,
- 30:38Speaker 2: YSU has a game Thursday. Thursday? I'm hoping for a
- 30:42Speaker 2: good football season from YSU. Hard to imagine it's already
- 30:46Speaker 2: football season. I mean, it's high school and YSU football.
- 30:50Speaker 2: It's already football season. And I'm looking, thinking, where did
- 30:54Speaker 2: summer go? And when the Canfield Fair is here in
- 30:58Speaker 2: the beginning of September, that's the official end in my
- 31:01Speaker 2: neck of the woods. All right.
- 31:02Speaker 6: Do you think Ohio State will be good this year?
- 31:09Speaker 2: Usually.
- 31:09Speaker 4: Okay.
- 31:10Speaker 3: Maybe.
- 31:11Speaker 5: Have a good day, buddy.
- 31:12Speaker 2: I don't know. It's hard to predict on any of
- 31:14Speaker 2: that stuff. You're on air.
- 31:22Speaker 5: Hey, good afternoon.
- 31:24Speaker 2: Good afternoon to you, too.
- 31:25Speaker 5: Hey, what are you doing? Some construction around you or something, huh?
- 31:30Speaker 2: Construction around me? We got construction going on everywhere around me.
- 31:35Speaker 2: I mean, I don't care where you go on 680.
- 31:39Speaker 2: Everything's a nightmare as far as construction. The only good
- 31:42Speaker 2: news I can report is they finally got that bridge
- 31:44Speaker 2: open on 224 before the fair got here. That had
- 31:48Speaker 2: been closed for a couple of years when they were closed.
- 31:51Speaker 2: redoing the bridge so that's that's finally done but there's
- 31:55Speaker 2: detours and i don't care if it's a freeway or
- 31:58Speaker 2: locally all over the place it's a it's a pain
- 32:01Speaker 2: in the.
- 32:01Speaker 5: Arse well think about it well we won't be here
- 32:04Speaker 5: for the 20 more years we'll be doing it.
- 32:05Speaker 2: Again well there you go there you.
- 32:09Speaker 5: Go i don't know about this it's when i talk
- 32:13Speaker 5: to younger people of course that's a lot.
- 32:18Speaker 2: But well define a younger person they don't.
- 32:20Speaker 5: Know what to think anymore You got one on one
- 32:22Speaker 5: side saying no, the other one on the other side
- 32:25Speaker 5: saying we're trying to help you. And then neither one
- 32:27Speaker 5: of them have got a way to help the people
- 32:30Speaker 5: out without having to spend so damn much money doing it.
- 32:34Speaker 2: Well, isn't that what the problem is? Listen, I think
- 32:37Speaker 2: it's a problem of Democrats and Republicans. I mean, we're
- 32:41Speaker 2: $ 40 trillion and growing in debt, and Trump's growing in
- 32:43Speaker 2: debt at astronomical amounts right now. And it's like, well,
- 32:47Speaker 2: wait a minute. Exactly when are you going to... work
- 32:51Speaker 2: on spending less money and getting rid of this burden
- 32:56Speaker 2: you're putting on all of us now as far as
- 32:58Speaker 2: how many of our tax dollars go to paying the
- 33:03Speaker 2: interest on it alone. I don't see any desire from
- 33:06Speaker 2: any of these people in politics to do a single
- 33:09Speaker 2: damn thing about it other than stay the course, which
- 33:12Speaker 2: is a nightmare.
- 33:14Speaker 5: You're right. It's a total nightmare. We need to vote
- 33:16Speaker 5: the Democrats out. We need to vote the Republicans out. But,
- 33:19Speaker 5: I mean, in this last newscast, did you hear where
- 33:22Speaker 5: Trump said it was okay to let this guy out
- 33:24Speaker 5: of jail and give him back his money that he
- 33:26Speaker 5: had to pay on a fine? What kind of nonsense
- 33:28Speaker 5: is that?
- 33:30Speaker 2: I missed it.
- 33:31Speaker 5: But.
- 33:35Speaker 2: I don't know. I mean, it's if you're asking me
- 33:39Speaker 2: once again, I tell you, I will vote for Republicans
- 33:41Speaker 2: over Democrats. The Democrats agenda is just too crazy for me.
- 33:46Speaker 2: I mean, I do not go along with this. We
- 33:48Speaker 2: can't tell you what a woman is. I don't go
- 33:50Speaker 2: along with the transgender stuff. I don't go along with
- 33:52Speaker 2: their social agenda at all. I don't go along with
- 33:56Speaker 2: their immigration standard at all. I don't I don't agree
- 34:00Speaker 2: with them on law enforcement. I nice. I don't agree
- 34:03Speaker 2: with him on anything, really. I mean, Medicare for all.
- 34:07Speaker 2: I don't buy any of the crap that they're peddling.
- 34:10Speaker 2: And so I can't vote for any. Democrats on the scene.
- 34:15Speaker 2: So I will vote for Republicans, even if they're the
- 34:18Speaker 2: lesser two evils, which, if I think about it, has
- 34:21Speaker 2: been how I voted most of my life. Never enthusiastically
- 34:24Speaker 2: for anyone, with the exception of Ross Perot and Donald Trump.
- 34:28Speaker 2: But outside of that, and maybe Reagan, I should say,
- 34:31Speaker 2: outside of that, I haven't enthusiastically voted. It's usually the
- 34:35Speaker 2: lesser two evils, for the most part.
- 34:38Speaker 5: That's a crying shame, ain't it?
- 34:40Speaker 2: You too.
- 34:41Speaker 5: Vote for the lesser of the two evils. But if
- 34:44Speaker 5: you take a look at it, as the conversations I've
- 34:48Speaker 5: had with other people, one is spending so much money,
- 34:51Speaker 5: we'll never get out of debt by doing what they
- 34:54Speaker 5: do with the tax breaks and everything else. And then
- 34:57Speaker 5: when they come right down to it, they turn right
- 34:59Speaker 5: around and they keep adding more and more to it.
- 35:01Speaker 5: And the other side, they want to do things, but
- 35:05Speaker 5: you don't see Trump trying to build anything that's in
- 35:09Speaker 5: the infrastructure in which he claims he would make Eisenhower
- 35:14Speaker 5: blush if he were to do it when Biden wanted
- 35:17Speaker 5: to do it.
- 35:20Speaker 2: Sometimes I get... It is wearing thin on me, some
- 35:23Speaker 2: of the just bullcrap that Trump spews. First of all,
- 35:27Speaker 2: I don't want to hear his name on everything. I mean,
- 35:31Speaker 2: I get tired of that. But some of the... Some
- 35:36Speaker 2: of the stuff he says, you notice that a lot
- 35:38Speaker 2: of these countries aren't taking them very serious anymore. They're
- 35:41Speaker 2: not taking them too serious at all, just based on
- 35:45Speaker 2: this situation in Iran. We're going to do this. Well,
- 35:48Speaker 2: then we don't do that. We're going to bomb them
- 35:50Speaker 2: back to the Stone Age. Well, then we stop that.
- 35:54Speaker 2: Now we're doing this economic time bomb. Well, I think
- 35:57Speaker 2: the economic time bomb's going off in the USA, too.
- 36:01Speaker 5: Well, you're right about that. But that economic time bomb
- 36:04Speaker 5: that he's talking about, was already implemented by three or
- 36:09Speaker 5: four presidents ago. And now he says he's going to
- 36:12Speaker 5: do more. How much more are you going to do?
- 36:13Speaker 5: That country don't care.
- 36:15Speaker 2: It seemed to me that that bunker buster that he
- 36:18Speaker 2: dropped did the job. And that should have been the
- 36:21Speaker 2: end of it. It did the job. Keep this, the, the, the,
- 36:25Speaker 2: the straight was open. Keep that agreement that Obama negotiated,
- 36:28Speaker 2: because some of the stuff that you would see with the,
- 36:32Speaker 2: that he wanted to negotiate the Trump deal, I thought
- 36:36Speaker 2: was a worse deal than what Obama negotiated.
- 36:39Speaker 5: Well, I'm glad to hear you say that, because I
- 36:41Speaker 5: felt the same way. But what gets me is, everybody's
- 36:46Speaker 5: complaining about the high prices, and they're trying to blame
- 36:49Speaker 5: Iran for the whole thing. It all went back to
- 36:51Speaker 5: his tariffs, and now the dollar, the measure of the
- 36:54Speaker 5: dollar bill throughout the world economy is dropping fast and hard.
- 36:59Speaker 5: China's over there going, yeah, keep it up, baby. Keep
- 37:01Speaker 5: it up, baby. By the time you get done, I'll
- 37:05Speaker 5: have the whole world talking to me.
- 37:07Speaker 2: Well, he's in a pissing match now with Canada, of
- 37:11Speaker 2: all places. I mean, I don't know about it. We
- 37:13Speaker 2: get a lot of oil from Canada, and we get
- 37:15Speaker 2: a lot of lumber out of Canada.
- 37:17Speaker 5: And a lot of other things.
- 37:18Speaker 2: Right. And it's like, this is the country we should be...
- 37:23Speaker 2: I don't understand. I get it if you're going after
- 37:25Speaker 2: China or Vietnam or India, these slave wage nation countries,
- 37:30Speaker 2: but Canada?
- 37:33Speaker 5: It amazes me. Canada's A1. They're not going to do that.
- 37:38Speaker 5: They're not going to put all the people. They want
- 37:39Speaker 5: to keep their people working, so they keep them in
- 37:41Speaker 5: the factories. Here in the United States, we've got to
- 37:43Speaker 5: have it so we can keep on going. If you
- 37:46Speaker 5: turn around and look at all these other countries... They're managing,
- 37:51Speaker 5: but they've changed their whole economic structure to stay away
- 37:55Speaker 5: from Trump and the United States, and it's only going
- 37:58Speaker 5: to hurt us in the end. It's going to take
- 38:01Speaker 5: us 30, 40 years to get back on track again
- 38:03Speaker 5: for people in these countries to trust us.
- 38:08Speaker 2: I don't know if that's going to be the case
- 38:09Speaker 2: or not. It's just a... In all seriousness, I look
- 38:13Speaker 2: around as an American. Forget Democrat or Republican. I can't
- 38:16Speaker 2: vote for any of the wacky Democrat socialists. But if
- 38:19Speaker 2: you're asking me, are things a mess? The answer to
- 38:23Speaker 2: that is absolutely yes. And do I think many of
- 38:25Speaker 2: these people that are making the decisions are totally oblivious
- 38:29Speaker 2: to the situation that they put us all in as Americans?
- 38:32Speaker 2: I think that they... They just stay the course, continue to,
- 38:38Speaker 2: they don't cut spending. And at what point do they say, okay,
- 38:42Speaker 2: well now we've got to cut it or do something drastic.
- 38:44Speaker 2: Now we'll go after everybody on Social Security or we'll
- 38:47Speaker 2: go after everything on Medicare. And there are going to
- 38:51Speaker 2: be a lot of pissed off people, and justifiably so,
- 38:54Speaker 2: when that happens with these morons.
- 38:57Speaker 5: Well, you know, it surprises me is that the Supreme
- 39:02Speaker 5: Court is allowed to make up any ruling it wants.
- 39:05Speaker 5: As long as it goes along with Trump.
- 39:08Speaker 2: Well, I don't know about that.
- 39:09Speaker 5: There's so many different things out there, like this voting thing.
- 39:13Speaker 2: They roll against Trump, too. Here's my thing with the
- 39:16Speaker 2: Supreme Court. This is where I disagree with you. See,
- 39:18Speaker 2: he wins some and he loses some. And he's lost
- 39:21Speaker 2: some and he wins some. I just want a Supreme
- 39:23Speaker 2: Court that sits there and rules on the constitutionality of it.
- 39:27Speaker 2: And I think in general, you have that. In general,
- 39:31Speaker 2: you shouldn't have an active Supreme Court when they make
- 39:36Speaker 2: these rulings. Do you want me to lose faith in
- 39:40Speaker 2: the voting system? Do you think I sit and say, oh,
- 39:44Speaker 2: this is a great idea. Let's mail everybody out a ballot.
- 39:47Speaker 2: They don't have to request it like they do in
- 39:49Speaker 2: Colorado and California. So the person could be dead. They
- 39:53Speaker 2: could have moved. You don't know who's voting it. I mean,
- 39:56Speaker 2: I think that's just a system open to fraud. And
- 39:59Speaker 2: you're right in this idea to say, let's secure our
- 40:02Speaker 2: mail in vote voting system. I'm for that because as
- 40:06Speaker 2: a voter, I want to make sure my vote counts
- 40:09Speaker 2: and don't make me lose faith. in my voting system
- 40:13Speaker 2: because I'm losing more and more faith in the court
- 40:15Speaker 2: system because it's becoming too political.
- 40:18Speaker 5: Well, you know, I just talked to the voting people
- 40:23Speaker 5: here in Trumbull County, and I asked them about it
- 40:26Speaker 5: because I went for my mail-in ballot, and I come back,
- 40:31Speaker 5: and I'm getting this letter stating They want us to
- 40:34Speaker 5: mail in a ballot when I already did it through
- 40:36Speaker 5: you guys.
- 40:37Speaker 2: Hang on. Hang on. Stand by. Let me do my break.
- 40:40Speaker 2: I'll come back to you. Ron Furb from the kingdom
- 40:42Speaker 2: of Mahoning on News Radio 570 WKBN at 352. I
- 40:43Speaker 2: heart radio. 570 WKBN. Okay, let me go back to
- 40:52Speaker 2: him for a second. I'm always intrigued by you. And
- 40:55Speaker 2: I can't explain, and I don't know that. How would
- 40:58Speaker 2: you define yourself? Would you define your, I know you're
- 41:01Speaker 2: an American, would you be more conservative or liberal?
- 41:07Speaker 5: See, that's a hard question. Liberal, if it's going to
- 41:10Speaker 5: help out people in the future. Conservative, when it looks
- 41:15Speaker 5: like you're going to spend money on something that is
- 41:20Speaker 5: stupid and or in the end won't really do the
- 41:24Speaker 5: job that it was supposed to do.
- 41:26Speaker 2: Okay, so let me go back on that. So you're
- 41:30Speaker 2: not a liberal that says there aren't people that don't
- 41:33Speaker 2: need a good kick in the ass and realize they're
- 41:35Speaker 2: in a great country to do something with their life.
- 41:38Speaker 2: You're not the liberal guy that thinks just because you
- 41:41Speaker 2: don't put any effort forth, we should take care of
- 41:43Speaker 2: you because you're lazy, do you?
- 41:46Speaker 6: No.
- 41:46Speaker 2: No.
- 41:47Speaker 5: I'm not one of them. I wouldn't be where I'm
- 41:50Speaker 5: at today.
- 41:51Speaker 2: I mean, for example, when I think of a liberal thing,
- 41:56Speaker 2: here would be an example. Once somebody has lost all
- 42:00Speaker 2: of their assets, and unfortunately they're in a nursing home,
- 42:04Speaker 2: that's when Medicaid steps in to cover that bill because
- 42:07Speaker 2: they don't have anything left. Many people would say that's
- 42:10Speaker 2: a liberal program, but in essence, what other options are there?
- 42:13Speaker 2: You follow me? So you would be for something like that,
- 42:17Speaker 2: but you wouldn't be for saying to some 25-year-old kid
- 42:20Speaker 2: that's of work age that doesn't have any problems, we're
- 42:24Speaker 2: going to give you health care and sit at home
- 42:25Speaker 2: and play video games. You don't buy into that crap, correct?
- 42:29Speaker 5: Yeah, I agree with you 100%, but Medicaid's kind of
- 42:32Speaker 5: a little of a trick there, if I understand it
- 42:35Speaker 5: at all, which is confusing to me at times. You
- 42:39Speaker 5: go on Medicaid before you go on Social Security.
- 42:42Speaker 2: No, you don't. No, you don't. No, you do not.
- 42:45Speaker 2: You know, usually, usually you go on, you're on Social Security. Well,
- 42:50Speaker 2: wait a minute. You're on private, your employer's insurance till
- 42:54Speaker 2: you reach Medicare age. You're not on Medicaid. Medicaid's for
- 42:58Speaker 2: poor people. And it's often abused. I mean, what I'm
- 43:02Speaker 2: saying to you is I don't picture you as a
- 43:04Speaker 2: liberal that thinks just because you're lazy or don't want
- 43:07Speaker 2: to do anything that we should cover you with health
- 43:09Speaker 2: care because you won't get off your ass and go
- 43:11Speaker 2: get a job like the rest of us. Is that
- 43:13Speaker 2: a fair assessment of you?
- 43:15Speaker 6: Yes.
- 43:16Speaker 5: And you know what I tell them kind of people
- 43:17Speaker 5: that sit there and complain and piss and moan and
- 43:20Speaker 5: don't want to do anything but collect pay? Wait till
- 43:24Speaker 5: you reach the age that you can finally go on
- 43:29Speaker 5: Social Security and Medicare fully. And guess what? You're not
- 43:34Speaker 5: going to have anything. You're still going to be needing help.
- 43:37Speaker 2: Because you haven't put any effort forth. All right, stand
- 43:40Speaker 2: by for me. Stand by. Just hang in there for
- 43:42Speaker 2: a minute. I'm going to get to know this guy.
- 43:44Speaker 2: And I'll get to more of your calls in a bit.
- 43:46Speaker 2: News Radio 570 WKBN. It's Bill Wills with Michael Klavan,
