- 3:32Definite, you know, vanilla and caramel notes.
- 3:38Kind of a rich, fruity nose. Perfect for these, you know,
- 3:48Snappy chilly Autumn nights tonight.
- 3:52Isn't so much. I think there's a storm or
- 3:54something coming up maybe from the hurricanes or something.
- 3:57I don't know, but it's a little bit warmer tonight than it as
- 4:00you know, than it has been over the last week or so.

- 4:06more moderate temperatures here in the Middle Tennessee area of

- 5:09And exact change cash, not going to be carrying a lot of extra
- 5:13cash with me. So, I don't foresee being able
- 5:16to make change. So, if you have any of those
- 5:19electronic means that is preferred or exact exact change.
- 5:24Cash currency will work, just fine.
- 5:27And then also, in addition to the Rune readings this week, I

- 6:44But this machine rolling as it were because I am, the only one
- 6:47doing it, and it's nice to know that people have your back and
- 6:50want to support you in that way. So now that we've got the, you
- 6:54know, official housekeeping stuff out of the way, and we're
- 6:57here just kind of cruising on this, this week's episode
- 7:03actually comes to comes to us here in the form of a
- 7:07suggestion. From a post that I made on
- 7:11Facebook this week. So if you are following me on
- 7:13Facebook, you might I have seen it.
- 7:15Just asking, you know, what should I podcast about this week
- 7:18and but what a lot of you folks, may not realize, is that the
- 7:23random Heathen ramblings podcast is very random.
- 7:28In the sense that sometimes I don't have content laid out, you
- 7:32know, and a back catalog and I still want to put out content
- 7:36with without sacrificing quality.
- 7:38I'm kind of left stumped on what to do.
- 7:41You know, I don't want to continuously or continually It
- 7:44myself. Although, I know that there's a
- 7:47lot of people that may ask for things or request content, that
- 7:51had covers topics that I've already done.
- 7:53So, I'm always, you know, happy to revisit certain things or, at
- 7:57least direct you back to an episode or, or video or
- 8:01something where I've already talked about it.
- 8:03And there are some of those cases.
- 8:04But this week's topic is something that I don't recall
- 8:10ever, really talking about. And I thought it was worthwhile
- 8:13talking, especially that we are in the month in the time of year
- 8:17that we are in. So the suggestion came from the
- 8:22chieftain of Raven, Moon Hearth Greg and his suggestion on the
- 8:26topic. For this week's podcast was to
- 8:29talk about ancestor veneration and how basically how it affects
- 8:36or impacts Us in the past or how it impacts past present and
- 8:41future. or something along those lines, and I got to thinking
- 8:52about it and I thought sure why not.
- 8:54And the reason why I thought it would be a good topic to go over
- 8:58this time of year or, you know, this particular week is, you
- 9:01know, for a lot of a lot of Norse pagans, we've just passed
- 9:09the winter nights. Victor Netter that their nature
- 9:14celebration, so that time of the month of the, of the Harvest
- 9:18month house mother Where we will celebrate winter nights, the
- 9:24onset of winter as it were. And during that time during
- 9:31those celebrations, it's tradition to have a very
- 9:36specific Focus towards. And on our ancestors, it almost
- 9:44lines up with and in some ways the the upcoming Salman for
- 9:49other types of pay. Egan's, you know, and not to say
- 9:51that there aren't Norse pagans. That's that do also observe the
- 9:55Salomon sabot which is again, it's a Wiccan Sabbat but some
- 10:04pagans will try to blend the two, you know, saying that it's
- 10:07the same thing or that there's but it's not it.
- 10:10They're definitely two different things and but the types of
- 10:16things that we think about this time of year, right?
- 10:18We hear about Thinning of the veil, you know, around the
- 10:23Salomon and Halloween, you know, times and we're definitely you
- 10:28know in that in that mindset in that mode where for a lot of us,
- 10:34you know, we feel much closer to our dearly departed there.
- 10:39There there things that happen we have encounters.
- 10:41We have experiences probably, that would be classified in most
- 10:49Norse he's and Norse Heathen or in Germanic Pagan definitions,
- 10:54as UPG, you know, it's that woohoo type stuff.
- 10:57That's not necessarily rooted in historical facts but that's not
- 11:02that's not what's important right now?
- 11:03What's important is that during this time of year for a lot of
- 11:06pagans not just romantic pagans. There is a there is a focus on
- 11:11ancestors and our ancestors and venerating them.
- 11:15Now as a general rule, right there's the the practice of ants
- 11:19Sir veneration is something that I think a lot of us as pagans
- 11:23keep going year round, it's not that we just stop doing it and
- 11:28only do it once a year or at certain holidays or holy tides
- 11:32are high fees or anything like that but we tend to at certain
- 11:38and specific ones, we tend to have a very again focused
- 11:44approach to that all. and, I don't know when I got to
- 11:52thinking about Greg's, you know, suggestion and Past present
- 11:58future. Right?
- 11:59What what has been? What is happening.
- 12:02Now, what's already happened? What is happening now?
- 12:04And what could happen? Here's my whole thing about
- 12:11ancestor veneration. I think you get enough people in
- 12:13a room and you start talking about it.
- 12:15You'll probably hear a lot of the same responses, but first of
- 12:20all, what is it? What is, what are we talking
- 12:22about? Ancestor veneration ancestor
- 12:24worship. It's the it means exactly what
- 12:28it's, you know, it means exactly what it says, we are venerating
- 12:31or honoring our are our ancestors.
- 12:36The people who have died before us, who are no longer with us
- 12:39who have been a part of our lives and who have lived lives
- 12:44that have ultimately led to us existing.
- 12:49And why do we do it? Why is ancestor veneration so
- 12:51important? Now, I've talked about death in
- 12:55a heathen world view context, or, you know, death in the
- 13:00afterlife, in a separate video, I'll put that down in the, in
- 13:05the show, notes of the podcast and in the description of the
- 13:08video for those that are interested in checking it out.
- 13:10But in that video, I refer to how important ancestor
- 13:16veneration was to our Sisters. Because it was believed and it's
- 13:22in. It's gonna I think very little
- 13:26bit from region to region or locality.
- 13:32There's going to be certain nuances that that varier differ
- 13:36from from place to place. But overall in general it was
- 13:40believed that just as the family protects you and you know, the
- 13:47family unit is protecting each other in life that in death. the
- 13:56family also is protected by your ancestors and you do things up
- 14:02to and leading and in their final moments and during their
- 14:05like the death ceremonies and all that took sort of thing, the
- 14:08burial rites and what not you do though you do things to secure
- 14:14that continued protection over over the family which is why we
- 14:23see Items being buried with with people, especially those of high
- 14:31status in society Nobles and stuff, which you know who were
- 14:34buried with weapons and, you know, valuables and all sorts of
- 14:38things. But it was, it was done because
- 14:44The Hope was that the Comforts and the amenities and the things
- 14:47that they had in life that made their life, their physical life,
- 14:52so meaningful. And enjoyable.
- 14:54That the things that they continue to experience their
- 14:58their next stage of life, because death was not an end and
- 15:01it is not an end, death is not the end of of everything.
- 15:06It's the transition into other things, and it's a transition
- 15:09into a new form of existence, in a new type of living.
- 15:14You know, the physical body, the shell this outer form is what
- 15:19eventually dies, but the the parts of our soul, the various
- 15:24parts of ourselves, do not die. We are continue to go on and so
- 15:30putting those items in the grave and sending off your ancestors
- 15:36are sending off those loved ones, who become ancestors with
- 15:38those things was to sort of be like, okay we had a good here.
- 15:40Now you're going to have a good where you go next wherever That
- 15:44maybe you know and so with those types of traditions I mean we
- 15:50even see some customs like that living now.
- 15:53And today, we're you know, I've I've been to plenty funerals and
- 16:02stuff of loved ones where heirlooms or keepsakes and other
- 16:07things are given to the deceased and present it in a way that you
- 16:15know, is is a gift, and it's in a sort of way and while the The
- 16:20meaning behind it is perhaps different.
- 16:22I think the spirit behind it hasn't changed, you know?
- 16:24Or the reason why we do it is we want we want to know that a
- 16:28piece of us goes with them or that they always stay with us in
- 16:32that sort of way and so the gesture carries with it I think
- 16:35the same Meaning so maybe maybe the meaning itself has a change.
- 16:40They ultimately the spirit of it of the ACT remains remains true,
- 16:46right? So looking at it from from, I
- 16:50guess, you know, like a heathen perspective still we we come
- 16:55from the past, you know, that the past is gone.
- 16:59All right, we've already lived it.
- 17:01Even. So far as what I said, moments
- 17:02ago is part of the past. Now, you know, when you started
- 17:08watching this episode of random human ramblings podcast, it's in
- 17:12the past now. And now we are in the in the, in
- 17:15the present. But the Present is constantly
- 17:18moving and taking being taken over by the past.
- 17:22You know, ordered is constantly filling in the gap of better
- 17:26than D. So we live in the here and now,
- 17:28but we are always moving towards screwed.
- 17:32The the future, we are always moving towards that that next
- 17:35thing. So, with, with ancestor
- 17:39veneration we are, we are continuing and feeding the fire
- 17:44of tradition. We are at, we are always Wanting
- 17:47to remember the love, the memory.
- 17:51The the fair, Fame of those who have earned it and keep that
- 17:57memory alive, through engaging, with that person or persons in a
- 18:04similar fashion as if they were still sitting here across our
- 18:08muster next to us, you know, and still breathing the same air
- 18:11that we breathe and still living in a form that we can.
- 18:17Visually identify and be close to.
- 18:21It's a we and we do it because of the things that those people
- 18:25did in the past they had great greatness about them.
- 18:31You know, they they did great Deeds, they accomplish great
- 18:34things. They served honorably, they
- 18:39whatever their actions were, whatever their deeds were
- 18:43carried with them. A deal of Honor and a deal of
- 18:49respect and to forget that into into not venerate that it's not
- 18:58honor that to not worship that. In a way, does our ancestors of
- 19:02the service in it as the way I feel.
- 19:05At least, it keeps them further away from us and further away
- 19:09from their protection because the why would you want
- 19:15protection from? Relative, right?
- 19:18It was believed and I believe that they are the ones who have
- 19:24our best interests in at heart and in their minds to.
- 19:28They want us to succeed. They want us to do great things
- 19:33just like they did because it perpetuates and it continues the
- 19:36Legacy it in it and it feeds the well and it strengthens that
- 19:45that that that that At how media the the family luck.
- 19:51It's a living thing. And so to not do things to feed
- 19:57that weakens it. It would be like, no stopping
- 20:01the nurturing of a plant as you're trying for it to grow.
- 20:04If you stop watering it, if you stop, you know, nurturing it
- 20:08with compost and sorts of stuff to to give it good growth,
- 20:12right? If you just neglect it and kind
- 20:14of let it do, its thing it's not going to grow a strong and it's
- 20:16going To become a shell of what its potential potential could
- 20:20be. And so in a much more I think
- 20:23complex way the veneration of our ancestors, the worship of
- 20:27our ancestors feeds that The Roots, You Know, It nurtures,
- 20:32the roots and it keeps things alive and well and keeps our
- 20:37connection between one another strong and our bond remains
- 20:41strong. And so therefore, they want us
- 20:42to to do well and they will have Help us do well, their strength
- 20:48is our strength. Their luck is our luck, you
- 20:52know. So when you see people who are
- 20:55succeeding well and doing well in life, it could be said that
- 20:58they have strong humming. You, you know, they have us,
- 21:01they have that strong family luck tied to them, and it's
- 21:07likely, you know, without knowing them closely or
- 21:10whatever. It's likely that they've,
- 21:11they've maintained a strong connection between themselves
- 21:16and their Departed ancestors. So it's again, it's feeding its
- 21:21feeding the wealth, and keeping that connection of the past
- 21:25close to further build and strengthen the present.
- 21:30So, by doing that, it kind of goes again hand in hand, and
- 21:33it's all interconnecting. It's all interwoven, it's where
- 21:37weird comes in. There's this, there's this luck
- 21:44that, that that's occurring and that's happening.
- 21:46And and In the, the luck is. It's either good or bad, it is
- 21:51what it is. It's both things.
- 21:53It's not, you know, all good, it's not all bad.
- 21:55But you get that inheritance from that or they'll where we
- 21:59call follow the inherited. Heritance of your ancestors fed
- 22:03down through, you know, your ancestral line.
- 22:07So doing those things, keeping connected to your ancestors.
- 22:12Whether it be, you know, a lot of folks will have like an
- 22:15ancestral Shrine or altar, where it's nothing.
- 22:20It photos memorabilia tokens, what knots tied to their to
- 22:28their family line to their ancestors?
- 22:30I've been in places where an entire entryway or entire
- 22:38stairwell. My parents house at one point in
- 22:41time, was kind of like this, where, you know, the stairs
- 22:44going up to our house, our old house on Long Island was nothing
- 22:47but family photos of my my grandparents my mom and dad's
- 22:54you know, parents and then their parents and all the cousins and
- 22:58uncles and you know stuff of like all the family stuff and it
- 23:03was like this. Again, it was like it was just
- 23:05this wall of fame as it where you know.
- 23:07So every time you would go up and down the stairs you would
- 23:09look see and be reminded then I've been in places like that
- 23:15where you know, the whole I don't know foyer as it were was
- 23:20was nothing but items dedicated to, you know, family members and
- 23:25stuff. So it's definitely something
- 23:30that a lot of pagans not just dramatic pagans have a sense of
- 23:36and, you know, I think ancestor veneration is, is a rich
- 23:39tradition in a lot of cultures. Not just northern European or
- 23:43Germanic cultures, but all over the world, and so again, feeding
- 23:49that Feeding those memories of the past and being reminded and
- 23:57bringing them to the surface and not letting them sink to the
- 24:01bottom of the, well, you know, not allowing them to be
- 24:05forgotten, keeps them close to us.
- 24:10So once again, you know, the the past is the past and it is
- 24:13constantly being taken over by verdande, which is moving, which
- 24:17is the now the here. And now the present and will
- 24:20always moving towards the future screws.
- 24:25So there we go. It again, it kind of all it all
- 24:28intertwines, and it's all interwoven.
- 24:31We are doing the things to keep those ancestors close to us from
- 24:36the past and keeping them with us, in the present to secure and
- 24:40build a strong tomorrow, you know, for our, our family.
- 24:47So that way, our descendants have the same luck that our
- 24:50ancestors before them, or before us gave to us at once.
- 24:54They when we become ancestors, they have that same luck to pull
- 24:59from or to draw from, or to, you know, benefit from.
- 25:05So how is that, you know, how is that all play out?
- 25:08Well, the Deeds, the things that our ancestors did were whether
- 25:11they realize it or not laying down, the groundwork laying down
- 25:14that Foundation laying down that.
- 25:18Yeah, that that Foundation to build upon And then when in when
- 25:23they be going to the halls of hell and then return to their
- 25:28their the halls of their ancestors.
- 25:30Now they're like, well, my descendants are going to either
- 25:33take this or leave it and we do them a disservice.
- 25:36If we don't take what was given to us and move towards building
- 25:41a future. For the next stage of people for
- 25:43the next group of descendants to, to carry it on.
- 25:48Now it does, it does bear, you know, Mentioning here, that when
- 25:53we talk about ancestor veneration, I hear it.
- 25:55You know, one of the arguments are one of the things that
- 25:57people bring up is well, you know, some of my ancestors were
- 26:01real dirt bags, you know? And I don't want to remember
- 26:06them. I don't want them to be
- 26:07remembered. I think they were, they were
- 26:08trash. They didn't, they did horrible
- 26:10things, you know. Look, everybody's family has
- 26:13got, you know, that crazy uncle or that, that that, you know,
- 26:19that bad apple. You know, everybody's got a sour
- 26:23apple in the bunch and you don't have to, you know, they are
- 26:30still your ancestors, right? You know, and they still were
- 26:32part of life, and then part of their life is part of yours, you
- 26:36inherit it all. Again, it goes back to the whole
- 26:39concept of luck. It's, you know, you don't pick
- 26:40and choose what you were what hand you were.
- 26:43You were dealt. But what you can do, is you can
- 26:46decide what, part of that hand you want to play?
- 26:50And what part of that hand you want to discard and leave alone
- 26:54and if it's not worth perpetuating, if it's if it if
- 26:57it's not worth hanging on to then let it go and let it sink
- 27:02to the bottom of the well, and then add more positive and good
- 27:07layers to offset that. That's, you know, that, that
- 27:11negativity, that that muck that Meyer, you know, kind of like
- 27:15how water, and oil separate, let it slip that separation
- 27:19occurring. It now build on the layer that's
- 27:22above to further again, strengthen and secure, you know,
- 27:27better things for the future. So is it complicated?
- 27:35I don't really think it is. I think, you know, for people
- 27:38that are maybe new and coming into this, they may get hung up
- 27:41on the fact that you know, especially if they've come from
- 27:45a background of Worshipping a singular monotheistic.
- 27:49God. that you know that could maybe present some challenges of
- 27:55just getting used to the idea of, you know, Actually
- 28:02worshipping your ancestors, praising them speaking.
- 28:05Well of them, giving them gifts leaving them, you know, tokens
- 28:10of things that, you know, you know, like let's say I've done
- 28:15this before, like I knew my grandmother loved to drink
- 28:18Scotch and I still drink Scotch on a regular basis.
- 28:21Do I do it to honor her and I maybe not in the day to day or
- 28:26the week to week occurrences of it, right?
- 28:28But every I might have a drink of scotch, I can't help, but
- 28:33think of her, and I can't help. But think of, you know, what we
- 28:37would be doing together, sharing a glass of scotch, the things we
- 28:41would be talking about, you know, and Even though she's not
- 28:49physically alive, I can and do have a drink with my grandmother
- 28:58from time to time. you know, stuff like that or maybe a meal,
- 29:03you know, if you know of a I don't know about particular.
- 29:09food, item or recipe, you know, you're you're making your
- 29:14grandma's, you know, chicken pot pie or you making your
- 29:19grandfather's, you know, Grilled steak or whatever it is you know
- 29:25I'm saying. Having them, you know, those
- 29:30recipes? Yeah, sure.
- 29:31That's it's just the recipe. But like again, having that
- 29:34memory of where it came from. You know, you can kind of insert
- 29:38that into that, that, that Hearth cult practice of
- 29:41venerating your ancestors, because that's what it is.
- 29:43You're right, that's ultimately what it is.
- 29:45It's a hard call, it's an individual practice that
- 29:49surrounds your Hearth cult and with Germanic Pagan specifically
- 29:54today, at one of the big things lacking Is building of Hearth
- 30:00cult and having a hearth cult and knowing what it is that your
- 30:04Hearth called is and practicing it before you worried about, you
- 30:08know, how do I do bloat? How do I sacrifice to the gods?
- 30:10How do I, you know, have ritual with a group of people and do
- 30:15all these things to do that are you know yes important and have
- 30:18a place, but do you even have your Hearth cult in place.
- 30:24Do you even? Have those, those things that,
- 30:28you know, are and should know are closer to you than the gods,
- 30:32you know, your ancestors, the whites, the the, the Fate here,
- 30:36all of those components of this particular branch of paganism.
- 30:42All of those living, again, I say living in the sense that
- 30:46they are living in a different way than we are, you know, they
- 30:50live and exist in the spirit form but they still share Space
- 30:56with us, you know it's just there on the other side of that
- 31:01again the term Veil, right? Where the veil is thin, and the
- 31:04thing of the belts while we feel like so close to our ancestors
- 31:07and stuff, this time of year with regards to that is because
- 31:10it's a time of year where that the separation between the where
- 31:15the living and the dead are is the lines and standard are not
- 31:20so clearly drawn out anymore, you know?
- 31:22It's a bit muddled. So we use that and we tap into
- 31:29some of these types of things this time of year.
- 31:31And so as you're thinking about, you know, your ancestors and
- 31:37maybe maybe you're a Germanic Pagan who's just gone through
- 31:41the winter nights thing and then did things with your with your
- 31:44people, or maybe you just did something at home and it was a
- 31:47privately closed off sort of event, right?
- 31:50Because we have examples of both being done and The text, you
- 31:57know, we have the Norwegian model of house bloat or winter
- 32:02nights, which was a very private and closed off event, then
- 32:06versus the Swedish model, which was the kind of a public to do,
- 32:10you know, in a public celebration where more people
- 32:12were involved, but maybe it was again, one of the one of the
- 32:15other and ancestor acknowledgement.
- 32:19Ancestor veneration was a key component to that or maybe
- 32:23you're a different type of pagan listening and watching and you
- 32:26are approaching and looking forward to Samhain, you know,
- 32:29coming up where you've you've got some of those similar things
- 32:33that you're thinking about and how it can, how it can work for
- 32:38your benefit. Either way, whichever your
- 32:41approaches and however you take it.
- 32:44I feel like if we, Start to really put a put an emphasis on
- 32:53Hearth. Cult are individual cultic
- 32:56practices in our hearts and homes and really drawing that
- 33:02out and really building that out to something of, you know, that
- 33:05we have our own Traditions that we are doing because that's how
- 33:09it was back in the day. Man.
- 33:10Like every, every Hut every family, every Clan and whatever
- 33:13did things their way. And that's that's that.
- 33:15That was their tradition, right? What are your And you don't you
- 33:19know that's not that's rhetorical, right?
- 33:21I'm not going to sit here and say, well what here's what my
- 33:24heart cult practices are. That's my heart called practice.
- 33:28It's private and only share that with certain people.
- 33:30If at all. But it's a question, you should
- 33:34ask yourself, you know, instead of going straight to the what do
- 33:39I do with the gods? How do I do this with the gods
- 33:41and the sacred, and the Divine? You know, I think once you
- 33:45figure out your Hearth cult, once you've got that nailed
- 33:49down, once you've got your individual cultic practices,
- 33:55solid with, with your ancestors, with the whites of the VTA, or
- 33:59however you want to call them, then the next stage of things
- 34:03where you're going to be interacting with, you know, the
- 34:07big boys as it were then, you know, the gods and the sacred
- 34:10becomes Easier. You know you've already got the
- 34:15the groundwork laid, you've already got it stuff that you do
- 34:21it again mirrors in a similar way.
- 34:23Yes, there are certain things especially if you take it from
- 34:25like a historical approach, you know like faintings and
- 34:27offerings are not the same thing as bloat and bloat is only done
- 34:31to the gods and it's very specific.
- 34:34If you're going to take it from a historical approach.
- 34:38It's you know you don't blow to your ancestors, you bloat to the
- 34:41gods. It's Then that's it.
- 34:45But I think again, I think before you approach it before
- 34:50you approach, you know, and then step into the deep end.
- 34:53You gotta know how to Wade through the through the shallow
- 34:57end and get your footing and get all that established, first and
- 35:00foremost. So kind of just to recap, you
- 35:07know, I mean Greg's Greg's question about, you know,
- 35:09ancestor veneration and how it should have read it down, wrote
- 35:15it down, or I should have had it looked looking at here, but I
- 35:18want to see it. It was, it was something along
- 35:21the lines of the How does it? How does it?
- 35:30Impact. Past present and future.
- 35:35And I know impact isn't the isn't the right word?
- 35:38So let me, let me just do this. Let me quit talking about it and
- 35:41let me just find it. Do the right thing.
- 35:46Jesse stop trying to Stop trying to.
- 35:54Yeah, connected. How ancestor work.
- 35:57Keeps us connected. The both past present and
- 36:02future. So I think you know how it keeps
- 36:05us connected. There you go.
- 36:08It keeps us connected to the Past because we are maintaining
- 36:12those connections. We are maintaining those ties
- 36:14through frequent activity, through frequent work with, with
- 36:19our ancestors, gifting to them singing their songs talking
- 36:24about, their great Deeds, mentioning them during our meals
- 36:28having little little customs and stuff that we do too, you know.
- 36:35Keep their Fair Fame and their memory alive.
- 36:39That's how it keeps us connected to the past.
- 36:42And it's funny that you say, you know, connecting to the Past
- 36:45because there's this, there's this, there's this meme that I
- 36:49see float around and I call it a mean but it's like the, it's it,
- 36:52I guess, you know, I understand the sentiment.
- 36:53And it means well, but it's like a picture of whatever the guys
- 37:00name was that played Ragnar Travis.
- 37:03Lawrence whatever we have to do is name, was that played Ragnar
- 37:07in Vikings, right? He's looking all looking all
- 37:14badass, whatever. He's got that.
- 37:17Wild hairdo and stuff probably covered in like blood or
- 37:21whatever. But it's a cookie and I think
- 37:23they're even trying to say that it was like a quote by Ragnar or
- 37:26something. I don't know, maybe it was, I
- 37:27haven't watched the show in a long time.
- 37:29Anyway, the words on the mean were stopped looking behind.
- 37:36So, you know, stop looking, you know, stop looking in the past,
- 37:38you're not going that way, right?
- 37:41You guys have probably seen, you know what I'm talking about?
- 37:43That thing. It's ironic, you know where,
- 37:47Like, all these people like, yeah, you know, keep moving
- 37:49forward and do know. And then in the same breath,
- 37:53they're like, well, they didn't do it that way back.
- 37:56Then you got to maintain true to the Traditions.
- 37:58Like but you just said, don't look back because you're not
- 38:01going that way. It's kind of like it's
- 38:04contradictory again. I understand like the meaning of
- 38:07the meme and it doesn't necessarily but it is it's
- 38:11ironic and say yeah, don't look behind.
- 38:13You don't look to the Past because you're not going that
- 38:15way. And yet you want to get stuck
- 38:16on. On people, you know, and can cry
- 38:19about people not doing things the way they did it, you know, a
- 38:21thousand years ago. But there is an important
- 38:25element of the past that we need to remain that needs to be
- 38:28connected to. There's like a Lifeline that
- 38:30needs to be preserved. You know, that that route line
- 38:35as it were Taproot. Maybe this is a good definition
- 38:41or word for it is to, you know, keep some sort of connection to
- 38:45the Past because again, it's what got us here, but feed it to
- 38:50the point of nurturing, it and allowing the growth to continue
- 38:54and then that's what strengthens us in the here.
- 38:58And now and as future goes ahead of us.
- 39:02You know, the things that we do today are That's for tomorrow
- 39:06and the next day and the next day and the next day.
- 39:07And so as long as we as I was saying before, you know, weird
- 39:13takes over, put it on D and then bird on D, you know, school or a
- 39:18school takes over dondi. And so it's like this constant
- 39:24You know, it's overlapping. It's inner woven Overlapping is
- 39:29probably a good, you know, analogy I guess you could say.
- 39:32It's just, you know, if you think about this, this line
- 39:34moving and then the stage of the line is always changing because
- 39:37what was here in the present is now in back here in the past and
- 39:40then what was up here in the future?
- 39:42The present is now the future. It's just how it constantly
- 39:46goes. And so, Ancestor veneration
- 39:52helps on all three. You know, helps all three parts.
- 39:59So as we move into Shadow move the week into Shadow moon, this
- 40:04is the last time I'm going to talk about it in the future
- 40:07sense, right? The next time, I will be talking
- 40:11about it at least in a podcast, will be in the past.
- 40:14Sense is in, it is now in the realm of loot.
- 40:17But as we talk about it right now, it is in the realm of their
- 40:19don, t it is what is to come. Our sorry, it is in the realm of
- 40:22school, that is what is to come talking about.
- 40:24It is in the realm of better than the and even at the point
- 40:28of view guys, listen and watch. That's right.
- 40:30I've already talked about this days prior so you're hearing.
- 40:37I'm hearing it again or you're, you know, you're hearing it for
- 40:39the first time, but it's already been spoken.
- 40:43So my words come to you from the past.
- 40:48Like a history book like, like already written down thing.
- 40:53I don't know. You could get, you could get
- 40:54really weird into it all. And if I had other people to
- 40:57talk about, when I'm sure we could really break out into some
- 41:00really wild philosophical type conversations, but it's just me.
- 41:05And so now you just have this Sort of one-way street that has
- 41:12multiple Ali's that, we sometimes go down and find, you
- 41:16know, certain trash cans to bang and certain Windows to knock on
- 41:19and then it's out here back into the main road on to the next
- 41:25station. You know, wherever that where
- 41:27that is. So yeah, there you go.
- 41:31It's this is not a very in-depth long podcast, but I thought it
- 41:34was a great one to put out here with the topic at hand.
