- 0:00Speaker 1: Thanks Mike Lane. Coaches in this league love to have
- 0:03Speaker 1: short memories, and having just played San Jose a few
- 0:07Speaker 1: games ago, what still sticks out about that game? What
- 0:10Speaker 1: can you take from that game and apply here tonight
- 0:13Speaker 1: Or is that something that truly because of the result
- 0:15Speaker 1: you just flush it and move on.
- 0:17Speaker 2: No, No, there's a reason there was a result like that.
- 0:21Speaker 2: You know, again, I really emphasize that they played well.
- 0:28Speaker 2: They're well coached, and they're fast. They don't give you
- 0:32Speaker 2: much time and space. You know, they've averaged one and
- 0:37Speaker 2: a half goals against in their last eight games, so
- 0:41Speaker 2: they've given up twelve goals in eight games. They're playing
- 0:45Speaker 2: solid defensively, and their goaltending has been good for them.
- 0:48Speaker 2: We didn't play our best game, so we didn't really
- 0:52Speaker 2: combat their style of play very well. I'm expecting we
- 0:58Speaker 2: played better tonight, and I'm expecting this to be a
- 1:02Speaker 2: hard fought hockey game. You know, it's not the old
- 1:06Speaker 2: San Jose Sharks anymore.
- 1:08Speaker 1: Five to three win over Winnipeg and after two games
- 1:12Speaker 1: back to back of I guess three of your previous
- 1:14Speaker 1: four games is scoring one goal being patient with stressed
- 1:18Speaker 1: The offense will come with stressed. We saw it last
- 1:20Speaker 1: night or our last game out rather with five goals.
- 1:22Speaker 1: What did you make of that performance and what went
- 1:24Speaker 1: right for your group?
- 1:26Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean we it was nice to score, obviously,
- 1:29Speaker 2: and it was nice for our guys to get some
- 1:31Speaker 2: some goals and get rewarded for what they've been doing. So,
- 1:35Speaker 2: you know, the game in itself, it was a hard
- 1:37Speaker 2: fought game. You know, we know Winnipeg's a good team,
- 1:41Speaker 2: so you know, I thought we checked well. I thought
- 1:44Speaker 2: we did a really good job of you know, being
- 1:47Speaker 2: in position and being you know, fast onto pucks, I guess,
- 1:53Speaker 2: so to speak. And then we transitioned pretty well. You know,
- 1:57Speaker 2: we we made some misstakes, some critical mistakes that ended
- 2:03Speaker 2: up in the back of our net that we shouldn't
- 2:05Speaker 2: have made, but we did. And you know, the good
- 2:09Speaker 2: news was we were resilient and we found a way
- 2:11Speaker 2: to come back.
- 2:12Speaker 1: In those instances when you see those mistakes being made
- 2:14Speaker 1: and the guys on the bench lift each other up,
- 2:17Speaker 1: Vince Dunn saying the other night, even when we're down,
- 2:20Speaker 1: we don't feel like we're down because we lift each
- 2:22Speaker 1: other up. What's it like to see your group largely
- 2:26Speaker 1: take that upon themselves to dig themselves out of some
- 2:29Speaker 1: holes they put themselves into. Yeah.
- 2:30Speaker 2: Good, they have to, you know, they're the guys that
- 2:33Speaker 2: are out on the ice, and you know, those are
- 2:37Speaker 2: the guys that you know, that have to do the
- 2:39Speaker 2: work and put in the effort to you know, to
- 2:43Speaker 2: keep fighting. So good on them, you know, and that's
- 2:49Speaker 2: that's something that we want. We want them to take ownership.
- 2:51Speaker 1: Another strong performance and goal for Seattle from Philip Grubauer.
- 2:54Speaker 1: You were asked this morning about the consistency of that position,
- 2:57Speaker 1: even with Joey Decord out. Where does that credit and
- 3:00Speaker 1: where does that success lie with that position this season?
- 3:05Speaker 2: Yeah, well, I think that, you know, you know it,
- 3:08Speaker 2: the credit lies with the goalies. And there, you know,
- 3:11Speaker 2: I've said it. I've used the word professionalism, you know,
- 3:13Speaker 2: over and over again with these guys, you know, And
- 3:17Speaker 2: and they've stuck together, and they have good relationships, you know,
- 3:21Speaker 2: and and if one guy's planning the other tour supporting them,
- 3:25Speaker 2: you know. And so that's been good. And then the
- 3:27Speaker 2: other part of it is is our goalie coach, Colin Ziliano,
- 3:30Speaker 2: has done a great job. You know. It's not easy
- 3:33Speaker 2: to manage three goalies, especially in the National Hockey League.
- 3:37Speaker 2: And he's done a great job of balancing you know,
- 3:40Speaker 2: the work race, ratio, rest ratio, who's doing what on
- 3:44Speaker 2: on on any particular day. It's a full time job
- 3:47Speaker 2: just for him to coordinate or organize the schedule to
- 3:50Speaker 2: make sure that everybody's you know, in good in good forms.
- 3:53Speaker 2: So you know, really, uh, between the four of them
- 3:57Speaker 2: have done a great job.
- 3:59Speaker 1: I know, the crack and have hads injury issues. This season,
- 4:01Speaker 1: we're starting to see Freddie gadrou back on the ice,
- 4:04Speaker 1: Jared mccannon back on the ice, jo with the court
- 4:05Speaker 1: on the ice. Can you share some updates on when
- 4:07Speaker 1: we may see them next, how they're progressing, and then
- 4:10Speaker 1: of course couple of Coco going out last game as well.
- 4:12Speaker 1: It has to be frustrating, not only for him obviously,
- 4:15Speaker 1: but for you to see the success he's had and
- 4:18Speaker 1: now right back on the shelf. As you called week
- 4:20Speaker 1: to week earlier today.
- 4:21Speaker 2: Yeah, well, these players are players we need, you know,
- 4:24Speaker 2: and Cocko like like you said, he's week to week
- 4:28Speaker 2: disappointing for him. I'm disappointed for him. You know, it's
- 4:32Speaker 2: not fun when you're not playing, and it's not fun
- 4:34Speaker 2: when you're hurt, and you know, we need him. He
- 4:37Speaker 2: provides offense for us. He's a big, big body. We
- 4:41Speaker 2: loved having him back because he can control Bucks down
- 4:43Speaker 2: low in the offensive zone. So, you know, losing him
- 4:47Speaker 2: right after he scores a beautiful goal is really, really
- 4:50Speaker 2: a disappointing thing. But you know, we have other guys
- 4:52Speaker 2: that have to step up to the plate in those
- 4:55Speaker 2: in those manners. Freddy's getting real close, you know, seems
- 5:01Speaker 2: to be a game time decision tonight. You know he's
- 5:03Speaker 2: still on our ir. Joey is day to day and
- 5:08Speaker 2: McCann is. You know, he's on the ice again today
- 5:12Speaker 2: and you know he had mornings Gate with us, So
- 5:14Speaker 2: that's progression.
