Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Liam Lawson will keep his Racing Bulls seat for twenty
- 0:02Speaker 1: twenty six. Red Bulls confirmed laws and will stay on
- 0:04Speaker 1: and the junior team alongside Arvid Lindblood, who's earning his
- 0:08Speaker 1: F one debut. A Yuki Sonoda getting the boot. Isaac
- 0:11Speaker 1: Hedger is stepping up next to Max Verstappen. Eric Thompson
- 0:15Speaker 1: is former motorcycle racer and Herold motorsport journalist with us
- 0:18Speaker 1: this morning.
- 0:18Speaker 2: Eric, Good morning, Good morning, Ryan, how are you.
- 0:21Speaker 1: I'm very well, Thank you. No, You've known non Liam
- 0:23Speaker 1: since he was just a wee lad thirteen or so.
- 0:27Speaker 1: This is good news for him to be staying in contention.
- 0:32Speaker 2: Ma, I'd like it's a shame. It's a shame as
- 0:34Speaker 2: a race this weekend because I think he would have
- 0:37Speaker 2: been pattying all night as he possibly could have, and know,
- 0:42Speaker 2: and a relief that he's got a seat for next
- 0:44Speaker 2: year because it's especially a Formula one's cutthroat anyway, and
- 0:49Speaker 2: I've always been a big believer and a lot of
- 0:52Speaker 2: people don't quite understand. I think sometimes Ryan that just
- 0:54Speaker 2: to get the Formula one and to get on that
- 0:57Speaker 2: grid is a mountain higher than Everest time and you
- 1:01Speaker 2: tend to forget he's one of twenty to the best
- 1:03Speaker 2: drivers in the world, but to be confirmed for next
- 1:06Speaker 2: year will be a mighty relief for him, his support crew,
- 1:10Speaker 2: his management, his Bumba's dad, his family and all the
- 1:13Speaker 2: other people that have supported him emotionally this year. And
- 1:16Speaker 2: I just think it's a fantastic result.
- 1:19Speaker 1: Eric, how much does he have to prove this year? Well,
- 1:23Speaker 1: for twenty twenty six, Yeah sorry, yeah.
- 1:28Speaker 2: Sorry mate, Well he's still got a race to go
- 1:30Speaker 2: this year, so he can't just suddenly sit back and chill.
- 1:33Speaker 2: Now you're right there. He can't. You know, there's still
- 1:35Speaker 2: something to go in this year. But for twenty twenty six,
- 1:38Speaker 2: it's that will be the year for him to cement
- 1:42Speaker 2: his position on a Formula One grid, you know, and
- 1:46Speaker 2: once you do that, you know you could get a
- 1:48Speaker 2: five to ten year career. You know. There's a lot
- 1:51Speaker 2: of drivers there that a lot of teams really appreciated
- 1:54Speaker 2: for their solid performance. And another thing that is incredibly
- 2:00Speaker 2: to these teams as Constructors Points championships. A lot of
- 2:03Speaker 2: the teams, although they say they like their drivers, they
- 2:05Speaker 2: think it's a wonderful those teams want to win the
- 2:09Speaker 2: Constructors or the manufacturer's title, because that's where all the
- 2:12Speaker 2: money comes from the bank, their chunk of change to
- 2:16Speaker 2: bank roll the teams. So for next year, part of
- 2:19Speaker 2: Len's job will be to keep earning points in every race.
- 2:23Speaker 2: Of course they want to win or get on the
- 2:24Speaker 2: podium without a doubt, but it's more about accumulating points.
- 2:28Speaker 2: So at the end of twenty twenty six they stayed
- 2:31Speaker 2: VCR Red Bulls stayed fift six seventh in the championship,
- 2:34Speaker 2: pick up tens of millions of euros to go towards
- 2:38Speaker 2: the following year, and if he can cement himself next year,
- 2:42Speaker 2: he'll be there for as long as he probably wants
- 2:44Speaker 2: to be.
- 2:45Speaker 1: Fantastic result, great news to be confirmed for us this morning, Eric,
- 2:48Speaker 1: appreciate your time. Eric Thompson, former motorcycle racer, Hero Motorsport journalists.
