- 0:00Speaker 1: Ole Miss and Texas presented by prize picks and sec matchup. And, uh, look,
- 0:07Speaker 1: I just an absolute must win. There's no other way
- 0:10Speaker 1: to put it for Texas Ole Miss with a tough
- 0:12Speaker 1: road with Texas and Georgia left on this schedule, but
- 0:15Speaker 1: they've got a little house money to play with looking
- 0:17Speaker 1: at the rest of the sec, but Texas is life
- 0:22Speaker 1: is on support. And that's not how you say it,
- 0:25Speaker 1: but that's, you understand the implication there. Um, Texas is
- 0:29Speaker 1: one of the few teams in the country, maybe the
- 0:31Speaker 1: only team in the country that because of that win
- 0:32Speaker 1: against Ohio state could theoretically make it in at nine
- 0:37Speaker 1: and three. I'd still think they need some chaos, but man,
- 0:40Speaker 1: you lose three in a row. You're going to be
- 0:42Speaker 1: unranked and you're going to have a tough climb back
- 0:44Speaker 1: to just get up to that 12th of the 11th
- 0:47Speaker 1: spot in the country. They do play a Baton Rouge,
- 0:50Speaker 1: but before we get too far ahead of ourselves, can
- 0:53Speaker 1: Texas offense figure it out? Because that Ole Miss defense
- 0:56Speaker 1: sure did look good last week against Missouri Cole.
- 0:58Speaker 2: Yeah, I think the big question is, if you're an
- 1:00Speaker 2: Ole Miss fan, what is reality and what is just falsehood?
- 1:03Speaker 2: So last week, Ole Miss came in with the 111th
- 1:07Speaker 2: ranked run defense in the country, and they shut down
- 1:10Speaker 2: the leading rusher in college football and held them to
- 1:12Speaker 2: under 2.6 yards of play. 36 yards for Jamal Roberts
- 1:15Speaker 2: in that game, and if I'm not mistaken, it was
- 1:17Speaker 2: a grand total of... 50, 48, 39 yards. So again,
- 1:23Speaker 2: they were able to basically make them a one-dimensional unit,
- 1:26Speaker 2: which is why Simmons' numbers were inflated, and he only
- 1:29Speaker 2: gave up three points. And that's a major testament to
- 1:32Speaker 2: that bye week coming at the right time to be
- 1:34Speaker 2: able to turn the corner. But was it fool's gold?
- 1:37Speaker 2: Was it just, we need to have a win against
- 1:39Speaker 2: this one team that was able to get us back
- 1:41Speaker 2: on track? Or can this be sustainable going into Austin
- 1:45Speaker 2: against a team like Texas? Now, the thing with Texas is,
- 1:48Speaker 2: they have the 91st ranked rushing attack in the country. Like,
- 1:52Speaker 2: they focus so much on getting better from moving off
- 1:54Speaker 2: of CJ Baxter and moving off of... about Trey Weisner
- 1:58Speaker 2: to go get Hollywood Smothers and go get Relique Brown,
- 2:01Speaker 2: and here they are still with one of the weakest
- 2:03Speaker 2: rushing units in college football. Can that get going in
- 2:06Speaker 2: this game? I think the two main elements I'm looking
- 2:08Speaker 2: for from the Texas side, number one, how do you
- 2:11Speaker 2: get the run to set up the pass? Can you
- 2:13Speaker 2: tire down that defensive line of Ole Miss? with Smothers
- 2:17Speaker 2: and Brown, let them be able to win slowly inside
- 2:20Speaker 2: of the trenches to eventually get your deep shots down
- 2:23Speaker 2: the field. We know that Ole Miss has given up
- 2:26Speaker 2: explosives this season, and they've done so against... Good but
- 2:30Speaker 2: not elite wide receiver play. You still have elite wide
- 2:33Speaker 2: receiver play when used properly in Cam Coleman and Ryan
- 2:35Speaker 2: Wingo out in Austin. So can you use the run
- 2:38Speaker 2: to set up the pass? And then number two, who
- 2:40Speaker 2: is going to be that pass rusher that can bring
- 2:43Speaker 2: down Trinidad Chambliss on second and third down early on
- 2:47Speaker 2: in the game to get the ball back to Texas offense? Guys,
- 2:50Speaker 2: Colin Simmons is more than likely not playing in this game.
- 2:52Speaker 2: And I don't know if you know this, but Colin
- 2:54Speaker 2: Simmons has 55% of Texas's sack total in 2026. That's
- 3:01Speaker 2: over half. He literally is the best player on the
- 3:04Speaker 2: field every single time that he steps foot onto a gridiron.
- 3:09Speaker 2: And if you don't have that guy, the big question
- 3:11Speaker 2: that you have in this game is, can you get
- 3:13Speaker 2: the sack yardage? Because the other thing is, Manon Watson
- 3:16Speaker 2: ranks second on the team in sacks. But He's only
- 3:21Speaker 2: given up, I think, at like 11 sack yards. Colin
- 3:23Speaker 2: Simmons has 10.5 sacks and he's allowed 95 sack yards.
- 3:26Speaker 2: So it's the way that the game goes. Do you
- 3:29Speaker 2: have somebody that can pressure trade at Chambers into making
- 3:31Speaker 2: the throws downfield where your secondary can create havoc, where
- 3:35Speaker 2: he can be brought down behind the line of scrimmage,
- 3:36Speaker 2: to where... He's living in a world of where it's
- 3:38Speaker 2: now second and 17, third and 18, and you know
- 3:42Speaker 2: it's a gotta-have pass play. What are the little details
- 3:44Speaker 2: that you can do to go make Trinidad Chambers feel
- 3:46Speaker 2: like that he's mortal? Because the guy plays phenomenal within structure,
- 3:51Speaker 2: but he also plays elite out of structure, and he
- 3:53Speaker 2: makes those highlight little throws, whether it be the juke
- 3:56Speaker 2: and jive, swing little pass with the forward lateral to the,
- 4:00Speaker 2: I'm going to make you miss, I'm going to go
- 4:02Speaker 2: ahead and see the blitz, and then continue to run
- 4:04Speaker 2: upfield for a gain of seven and get out of
- 4:05Speaker 2: bounds and get the first down. Do you have somebody
- 4:08Speaker 2: that can go ahead and spy on Shambliss that kind
- 4:10Speaker 2: of takes him out of this game and forces him
- 4:13Speaker 2: to have to be really good in the rushing attack? Which,
- 4:15Speaker 2: by the way, is back to being normal because last
- 4:18Speaker 2: week we saw Kiwan Lacey against this Mizzou defense go
- 4:21Speaker 2: off for 100 plus yards. And you also saw Makai Frazier,
- 4:26Speaker 2: who's been a really good secondary player, also go off
- 4:28Speaker 2: for 100 yards. So can those two complement each other
- 4:31Speaker 2: that make it where you don't need to rely so
- 4:33Speaker 2: heavily on Trey to add Shambliss? Special teams are really
- 4:35Speaker 2: important in this game. We saw Texas last week score
- 4:37Speaker 2: a putt return for a touchdown. I think that's really big.
- 4:40Speaker 2: Lucas Canero can make kicks from 57 yards out. That's
- 4:43Speaker 2: really big. It really is going to come down to,
- 4:46Speaker 2: was Ole Miss' defense able to find its pulse last
- 4:50Speaker 2: week against Mizzou that can carry them moving forward against
- 4:55Speaker 2: every team. And if you're on the offensive side for Texas,
- 4:58Speaker 2: do you have a game plan of Arch Manning does
- 5:00Speaker 2: not live up to par? And are you really being
- 5:02Speaker 2: honest about saying KJ Lacey, go ahead and get on
- 5:04Speaker 2: in there. If we need to go ahead and throw
- 5:06Speaker 2: a curve ball.
- 5:11Speaker 1: I just want to know, we talked about Texas and
- 5:13Speaker 1: you were pretty hard on them on Sunday. So you've
- 5:15Speaker 1: had a couple of days since then. It, What's your
- 5:19Speaker 1: confidence level right now in a Steve Sarkeesian versus Pete
- 5:21Speaker 1: Golding face-off?
- 5:25Speaker 2: Three, three and a half. Because here's the problem. There's
- 5:31Speaker 2: not one thing about Texas' offense that we've seen up
- 5:34Speaker 2: to this point in the season outside of the fourth
- 5:36Speaker 2: quarter against Ohio State that has been promising. They still
- 5:40Speaker 2: are bottom half in the SEC in sacks allowed. They're
- 5:42Speaker 2: still bottom half in the SEC in targets for loss allowed.
- 5:45Speaker 2: They're still bottom half in the SEC in press right
- 5:47Speaker 2: on the offensive line. They rely on the explosives, and
- 5:50Speaker 2: they're there. Bishop, Wingo, Emmitt Mosley, Cam Coleman. We've all
- 5:56Speaker 2: seen them go for a big breakaway 30-plus yard gain,
- 5:59Speaker 2: but to get there, that to me is the issue.
- 6:02Speaker 2: It takes forever for that play to unfold, and it's
- 6:04Speaker 2: like in critical moments and situations where it's a gotta have,
- 6:09Speaker 2: that's when they connect. So are you down by seven
- 6:11Speaker 2: at that point, and then you're giving the ball back
- 6:13Speaker 2: to Trinidad Chambas in the fourth quarter? I don't know
- 6:15Speaker 2: if I can trust that either. The other big question
- 6:18Speaker 2: I have in this game really comes down to the
- 6:20Speaker 2: fact of last week Ole Miss did a hell of
- 6:23Speaker 2: a job of making Mizzou one-dimensional. And Texas went 2-13
- 6:28Speaker 2: on third down conversions. That is a damning stat. And
- 6:32Speaker 2: I'm not saying that Ole Miss is going to let
- 6:33Speaker 2: them go 2-13 on 3rd down conversions, but if you
- 6:36Speaker 2: end up taking away Relique Brown and Hollywood Smothers, and
- 6:38Speaker 2: it is every single play, 3rd and 8th, 2nd and 9th,
- 6:43Speaker 2: obvious passing situations, do you feel confident that with what
- 6:46Speaker 2: you have in Centurion Perkins and Luke Forelli at middle linebacker,
- 6:49Speaker 2: and that front 7 headline by Will Echols being able
- 6:52Speaker 2: to win at his point of attack, Cam Franklin coming
- 6:54Speaker 2: off the edge, that they're not going to get in
- 6:56Speaker 2: the backfield against this Texas offensive line? and force Arch
- 7:00Speaker 2: to either throw under duress, which oftentimes leads to a turnover,
- 7:04Speaker 2: or he holds the ball too long and then it
- 7:06Speaker 2: leads to a sack right there. I mean, like, the
- 7:08Speaker 2: crazy part was Florida's defense came in with a ton
- 7:11Speaker 2: of question marks last week. Tons of them. And it
- 7:14Speaker 2: was like they had the vintage legion of boom in
- 7:16Speaker 2: the secondary that created turnovers. And they had a strip
- 7:19Speaker 2: sack in the fourth quarter by a defensive line that
- 7:22Speaker 2: struggled to bring down Lenore Sellers. And like you throw
- 7:25Speaker 2: now in Trinidad Chambliss, he's as physically strong as Sellers.
- 7:29Speaker 2: But he also is mobile the way that you don't
- 7:32Speaker 2: have a quarterback. He's mobile like Johnny Manziel or Baker Mayfield.
- 7:35Speaker 2: So it's like good luck trying to stop down in
- 7:37Speaker 2: the opposing sideline too.
- 7:38Speaker 1: I'll get right back to the clip with Tom and
- 7:40Speaker 1: Cole of the Power 2 in just a moment. But first,
- 7:42Speaker 1: I want to give you a couple of picks. Now,
- 7:44Speaker 1: if you want to get all the picks, you got
- 7:45Speaker 1: to go watch the live show, the Prize Picks app.
- 7:48Speaker 2: All new users there.
- 7:49Speaker 1: Play $ 5, get $ 150 in lineups instantly if you use
- 7:53Speaker 1: code HMA and win your first $ 5 lineup. Give me
- 7:56Speaker 1: the more on Trinidad's passing yards at 243.5. Just one
- 7:59Speaker 1: yard away from that, 244.5. Give me the less on
- 8:00Speaker 1: Arch Manning. Now, I actually like Texas to win this game,
- 8:09Speaker 1: but I'm going to take the reverse of what many
- 8:11Speaker 1: people might think on the passing totals. We also picked
- 8:14Speaker 1: Arches passing touchdowns. We took Kiwan Lacey. We took Trinidad's
- 8:18Speaker 1: passing touchdowns, but I'm not telling you what those picks are.
- 8:20Speaker 1: You got to go watch the live show to check
- 8:21Speaker 1: it out. That's on College Football Addiction. We appreciate you
- 8:24Speaker 1: for watching. Make sure you're on the PrizePicks app. Again,
- 8:26Speaker 1: that code is HMA, and we'll see you guys real soon. Tom,
- 8:30Speaker 1: thoughts here on Texas can, I mean, I will say
- 8:37Speaker 1: this before I toss to Tom. I think Ole Miss
- 8:42Speaker 1: is playing better football right now. I think all logic
- 8:45Speaker 1: would tell you that Ole Miss is going to win
- 8:47Speaker 1: this game. The problem that I run into is that
- 8:50Speaker 1: logic has meant nothing in college football this season. And, yeah,
- 8:55Speaker 1: Ole Miss should win this game. They're playing better. They
- 8:59Speaker 1: kind of probably match up with some of Texas' weaknesses.
- 9:02Speaker 1: Simmons isn't there. But college football is stupid, and so–
- 9:05Speaker 1: Texas probably wins by 14 because that's just how the
- 9:07Speaker 1: stupid sport works. Obviously nothing analytical to back that up.
- 9:11Speaker 3: No.
- 9:11Speaker 1: Oh, this matchup is something they're going to exploit. Like
- 9:13Speaker 1: I just, we're trying to apply, apply logic to a
- 9:16Speaker 1: very illogical sport right now. And so, but anyway, so yeah,
- 9:20Speaker 1: that's where my head's at on, on trying to figure
- 9:22Speaker 1: out who wins this game. But I would expect Texas
- 9:26Speaker 1: to play like the more desperate team at home. And
- 9:29Speaker 1: I do wonder how much that factors in Tom, what
- 9:31Speaker 1: are your thoughts?
- 9:33Speaker 3: I agree on the desperation factor, and I wonder if
- 9:35Speaker 3: that's evident in Steve Sarkeesian's play calling. I think back
- 9:38Speaker 3: to a handful of years ago when it was Ohio State-Michigan,
- 9:42Speaker 3: and we knew Ryan Day was trying to prove to
- 9:45Speaker 3: the world that his team was physical and not just
- 9:47Speaker 3: a finesse team, and tried to run the ball to
- 9:50Speaker 3: the point where it was like, hey, you guys need
- 9:52Speaker 3: to quit this. You're not doing well with this, but
- 9:53Speaker 3: he was very hard-headed about it. Is Steve Sarkeesian similarly
- 9:57Speaker 3: hard-headed in his play calling in this game against Ole
- 10:00Speaker 3: Miss to the point that it's squeezing the life out
- 10:03Speaker 3: of Arch Manning? Or does Arch respond? Do you see
- 10:05Speaker 3: KJ Lacy? Do you see KJ Lacy outright replace Arch Manning?
- 10:09Speaker 3: Do you see him in packages to kind of get
- 10:12Speaker 3: a look at him in this game? I'm with you, TJ. Like,
- 10:14Speaker 3: my brain, everything is saying Ole Miss is playing better
- 10:18Speaker 3: But it's bizarro world right now in college football. And
- 10:21Speaker 3: I could see a situation where Texas responds against a
- 10:24Speaker 3: defense that does give up points. Part of me wanted
- 10:27Speaker 3: to at first think, man, this game could be like
- 10:29Speaker 3: scoring in the 40s. But even without Colin Simmons, I
- 10:32Speaker 3: still like Texas to control some of the scoring that
- 10:36Speaker 3: Ole Miss is able to accomplish. I still think Ole
- 10:39Speaker 3: Miss can get four scores on the board in some capacity.
- 10:43Speaker 3: So I'm with you, TJ, in that my brain is saying, oh,
- 10:46Speaker 3: Ole Miss should be rolling into this one in Trinidad,
- 10:49Speaker 3: if they don't speed him up too much, he's going
- 10:51Speaker 3: to have a little bit more time with number one
- 10:53Speaker 3: off the field. I'm still sitting here thinking Texas somehow
- 10:57Speaker 3: pulls this thing out 31-27. It's just, and I could
- 11:02Speaker 3: see the absolute inverse, not to paint this, but like, man,
- 11:05Speaker 3: I just feel like everything is possible in this game.
- 11:10Speaker 3: And I think you could definitely see Trinidad Chambliss blow
- 11:14Speaker 3: this thing wide open. depending on the morale, the confidence
- 11:18Speaker 3: level of this Texas offense, because I've said it before
- 11:21Speaker 3: on this show, if Arch Manning continues to struggle, and
- 11:24Speaker 3: you have wide receivers that are running downfield, throwing their
- 11:26Speaker 3: hands up, being like, dude, get me the ball, and
- 11:28Speaker 3: then the defense is playing lights out, after a while,
- 11:31Speaker 3: you break. Mentally, you're like, dude, you've got to help
- 11:34Speaker 3: us out. So if that happens again for Texas, Trinidad
- 11:37Speaker 3: has a Trinidad Superman type of day, and this is
- 11:41Speaker 3: very lopsided, but I'm going to make an official prediction
- 11:44Speaker 3: and say 31-27 Texas.
- 11:46Speaker 2: Let me ask you guys real fast. Do you know
- 11:48Speaker 2: who the quarterbacks are that have gone up against Texas
- 11:51Speaker 2: this season?
- 11:54Speaker 1: I mean, Tramell Jones, John Mateer, Faison Brandon, not great stuff.
- 12:00Speaker 1: It's not like a gauntlet.
- 12:03Speaker 2: Julian Sane that had a good first half, and we
- 12:05Speaker 2: kind of are starting to realize the one thing that
- 12:07Speaker 2: he does is he's accurate. That's about it. No arm strength,
- 12:11Speaker 2: nothing really else there. Brad Jackson, Owen McCown. And I
- 12:14Speaker 2: like Brad Jackson and Owen McCown for G5 quarterbacks. I
- 12:16Speaker 2: really like Owen McCown as a G5 quarterback. It's UTSA
- 12:20Speaker 2: and Texas State. You shouldn't lose those games by anything.
- 12:22Speaker 2: You shouldn't even be worried about covering the spread. Every
- 12:25Speaker 2: single one of those quarterbacks you put into a body,
- 12:28Speaker 2: I right now do not think that they hold a
- 12:29Speaker 2: candle to Trinidad Chambliss. So you don't even have a
- 12:32Speaker 2: quarterback that you've gone up against defensively who's as mobile,
- 12:36Speaker 2: as elusive, as tricky, and as hell-bent on winning football games.
- 12:41Speaker 2: as Trinidad coming into your building. And that's the part
- 12:44Speaker 2: that concerns me for Texas' defense, because as good as
- 12:47Speaker 2: it's been, not having Colin Simmons out there and not
- 12:50Speaker 2: knowing who can be the guy to bring down six,
- 12:53Speaker 2: that's a horrifying thought, even if your offense is able
- 12:56Speaker 2: to get anything going on the flip side. And if
- 12:58Speaker 2: it does become a shootout, honestly, it does lean Ole
- 13:00Speaker 2: Miss too, in my opinion, because at the end of
- 13:02Speaker 2: the day, you have to give the football back to
- 13:04Speaker 2: Trinidad-Chambers in the fourth quarter.
- 13:09Speaker 1: I think Ole Miss is better here. I, if I
- 13:14Speaker 1: was putting actual real life money on this, I like
- 13:16Speaker 1: the value in old Mrs. Moneyline since you get plus money.
- 13:21Speaker 1: And anytime you get plus money with Trinidad, it's a good,
- 13:25Speaker 1: a good move. I just think they're playing better football,
- 13:30Speaker 1: but I'm kind of with Tom. I think this sport
- 13:32Speaker 1: is stupid and I love it more than anything in
- 13:34Speaker 1: the world besides my kids. Uh, like I, but I, I,
- 13:39Speaker 1: and you're, yeah, I'm, I, Did you see the thing
- 13:44Speaker 1: where the guy wrapped his wife up in duct tape
- 13:47Speaker 1: so they could watch college football all day?
- 13:49Speaker 2: Did you hear the quote though?
- 13:52Speaker 1: I wanted to, well, I wanted to like, I'm always
- 13:56Speaker 1: careful with like jokes that I make because people can't
- 13:59Speaker 1: take jokes in 2026. But like the joke always was,
- 14:03Speaker 1: I got to hear both sides.
- 14:04Speaker 2: Like I don't even have to hear the other side.
- 14:06Speaker 2: Like I get it, man. I get it.
- 14:08Speaker 1: I understand.
- 14:10Speaker 3: I couldn't believe it didn't say. I couldn't believe it
- 14:13Speaker 3: didn't say Florida man. And it was somebody in Virginia. Fascinating.
- 14:17Speaker 2: Here was the quote. He wrapped her up for some
- 14:20Speaker 2: quiet time with football. I love that. It's like, I
- 14:24Speaker 2: get it. Like, I don't agree with it at all,
- 14:26Speaker 2: but I get it.
- 14:28Speaker 1: So yeah, I think Ole Miss is playing better. I
- 14:30Speaker 1: think this sport's stupid. So I'll take Texas. I, I
- 14:34Speaker 1: picked this yesterday. I can't remember my score, but yeah, something.
- 14:37Speaker 1: So I like the over, which is 53 and a half.
- 14:39Speaker 1: So 28, 28-27.
- 14:43Speaker 2: Great game.
- 14:44Speaker 1: Texas finds a way.
- 14:45Speaker 2: Fantastic for both of you. This sport is stupid. I
- 14:48Speaker 2: will make a stupid prediction later. I will not in
- 14:49Speaker 2: this game. I think that Texas is going to find
- 14:51Speaker 2: a way to lose in the fourth quarter. I think
- 14:53Speaker 2: Trinidad Chambers is going to find a way to capitalize
- 14:55Speaker 2: in the fourth quarter. You give me any quarterback to
- 14:58Speaker 2: win me a football game right now in the sport,
- 14:59Speaker 2: there is nobody I'm trusting more than six down in Oxford, Mississippi.
- 15:03Speaker 2: I got 31-21 final score.
