- 0:15like the woman at the well in John chapter 4.
- 0:18Our highest priority is making God real in your life.
- 0:22Whether you are listening in our app, in your favorite podcasting app,
- 0:25or on our website at watwm.org, we invite you to sit down with us as we look
- 0:31to the scriptures to learn more about God and to strengthen your daily walk with Jesus Christ.
- 1:03Today is the first message in our series on a peace that passes understanding.
- 1:07During this series on peace, we will take an in-depth look at the unwavering,
- 1:11unstoppable faith in God, on living with no worries or doubts,
- 1:16possessing a faith that motivates and moves us, and a following faith that draws us closer to Him.
- 1:22Come join us in this broadcast of Woman at the Well Ministries,
- 1:26as Kim begins this study on the peace of God.
- 1:30Hello and thank you for joining us in this broadcast of
- 1:32woman at the well ministries and i believe that
- 1:35the greatest gift that christ gives us is salvation and he says to us in luke
- 1:43chapter 2 and verse 11 for unto you is born this day in the city of david a
- 1:47savior which is christ the lord and he tells us in romans 10 13 that whosoever
- 1:52should call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
- 1:55But I believe beyond that gift of salvation that Christ gives us,
- 2:00and because of his sinless perfect life and his sacrificial death on the cross
- 2:06of Calvary, that we're able to go to heaven and live eternity in a place not made with hands,
- 2:11in a place where Jesus reigns supreme, where he is the light,
- 2:16and where our mind just can't comprehend what it looks like.
- 2:20Beyond that amazing gift.
- 2:25I believe the next greatest gift he gives is the gift of peace.
- 2:31And we have that peace because of all the things that we just described that make Jesus who he is.
- 2:38We have the gift of peace because we don't have to rely upon ourselves because
- 2:43it is he who knows the way because he is the way in John chapter 14 and verse 6.
- 2:50We can have that peace because he
- 2:53commanded in john chapter 14 and verse 1 let
- 2:56not your heart be troubled you believe
- 2:59in god believe also in me
- 3:02he tells us in john chapter 14 and verse 27 that he and he alone gives us our
- 3:12peace he says peace i leave with
- 3:14you my peace i give unto you not as the world giveth, give I unto you.
- 3:20Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
- 3:27Because we have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, we can have peace.
- 3:34The prophet Isaiah said in Isaiah 26, 3, Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace,
- 3:39whose mind is stayed on thee, because he trusteth in thee.
- 3:46What a beautiful verse.
- 3:49And as we speak later on in this lessons of peace, we'll spend some time in that verse.
- 3:55But I want you as we begin to study the peace of God, I want you to get the
- 4:01full picture of what we're talking about.
- 4:05You see, we're talking about something that is bigger than us that you can know personally.
- 4:12Does it make the troubles of the world go away in your life?
- 4:16No but it makes them powerless against
- 4:21you for you see christ said that
- 4:25you can do all things through jesus which strengthens
- 4:28him he tells us that in philippians 4 13 as
- 4:32the writer paul writes what the holy spirit inspires
- 4:35him to write on that page you see
- 4:38he tells us in hebrews chapter 11
- 4:41and verse 6 this very truth
- 4:45but without faith it is impossible to
- 4:47please him for he that cometh to god must believe
- 4:50that he is and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him the key
- 4:56to faith in god is what is given to us in order to open up peace you see god
- 5:05says he gives peace to those who trust in him.
- 5:10And the Bible says that God gives faith liberally to all men.
- 5:17And if we come and ask him for faith, he will increase our faith.
- 5:23And without faith, it's impossible to please him. So as we begin to look at
- 5:28the peace of God that passes all understanding,
- 5:32it is incredibly important that you make your calling and election sure in Jesus Christ.
- 5:41For you see, the world can't give this peace.
- 5:45And thank God he can't give it, so therefore it can't take it away.
- 5:48But we can give it away. but the world
- 5:51can't give us this peace so we must have
- 5:54a relationship with something beyond the world we must
- 5:58have a faith that goes beyond ourselves for you see regardless of what you've
- 6:06tried to make other people think down deep in your heart of hearts you know
- 6:12that you are just dust and that you are frail,
- 6:16that you don't have all the answers,
- 6:19that you don't know the way by yourself, and that there are some things you just can't do.
- 6:28But I submit to you, there is nothing impossible to him that believeth.
- 6:33For Mark 9.23 says, to him that believeth, all things are possible.
- 6:40You see, when we begin to talk about peace, we
- 6:43can't separate faith and there's
- 6:46some amazing things that take place with peace hundreds
- 6:50of thousands upon millions of dollars are spent in the world yearly perhaps
- 6:57even more frequently than that on seeking peace on trying to help ourselves
- 7:06get rid of some anguish and some pain.
- 7:10My friend, there is certainly a place for medicine and doctors,
- 7:15but that place is not your soul.
- 7:18For you see, they are man, and they will fail.
- 7:22But God, who looks into your heart.
- 7:27Who created you in his image, who made the blueprint and who has a plan for you,
- 7:36sits knocking on your door waiting for you to invoke him into your life.
- 7:43And he comes not empty-handed. He comes with peace.
- 7:50He comes with provision.
- 7:54He comes with unconditional love. He comes with acceptance.
- 8:00He comes, and he's already there.
- 8:06You don't have to make an appointment, but you have one.
- 8:11For you see, the book of Hebrews, I believe it's 9.23, says,
- 8:14It is appointed unto man once to die, and after this, the judgment.
- 8:21But right now, you have the opportunity to spend time with the God of the universe.
- 8:27You have opportunity to have a personal relationship with you, with him.
- 8:33You have the opportunity to call him father. For he says, what manner of love
- 8:38hath the father bestowed upon us that we might be called the sons of God?
- 8:42And you see, he said in John chapter 14, I go to prepare a place that where I am, you may be also.
- 8:52And he's done his job. He's prepared the place and he's knocking on your heart's door.
- 8:57Have you done your job you see
- 9:00it requires you to be born again in john
- 9:03chapter 3 when nicodemus comes to jesus by night jesus
- 9:06himself says to him marvel not that i say unto you you must be born again he
- 9:13tells him that unless you're born again you cannot see the kingdom of god in
- 9:18the book of acts he says today is the day of salvation and now is the accepted
- 9:21time he's done his part March.
- 9:25And he's doing his part right now as he's drawing you to him. Have you done yours?
- 9:31For you see, one day you will be like the rich man.
- 9:36And Jesus will say, tonight, thy soul will be required of thee.
- 9:41And if you haven't made your calling and election sure, then you'll miss heaven
- 9:46and spend eternity in hell.
- 9:49All because of what you do today with Jesus Christ.
- 9:54And he said choose you this day whom you
- 9:57will serve before the blood-bought washed banded
- 10:00people who have committed their lives to
- 10:03jesus christ who have turned their hearts over to him who have felt the cleansing
- 10:07power of his blood who's washed away their sins that were once black are now
- 10:12white as snow to them awaits for them what i have not seen an ear hath not heard
- 10:19for those that are prepared to meet the Lord.
- 10:22The Lord has prepared for you what I can't even imagine, let alone be able.
- 10:30Show in any picture word what heaven is like.
- 10:35John, the revelator, was over on the Isle of Patmos, and he got to see a glimpse into heaven.
- 10:44And just the things that John was able to write down are beyond my mind's comprehension.
- 10:51But I know some things about that place called heaven.
- 10:55I know it's a place where sin can't enter in. Therefore, I know that the struggles
- 11:00and strife is no longer there.
- 11:03I also know that death has no place in heaven, and I know that night never comes,
- 11:08for Jesus Christ is the Son.
- 11:11I know that there's a crystal river that runs, and that there are streets of
- 11:15gold, and there are walls of jasper.
- 11:17And I know that I have a mansion not made with hands eternal into the heavens,
- 11:21prepared especially for me, because he said, in my father's house are many mansions
- 11:26and if it were not so I would have told you and I go to prepare a place for
- 11:30you that where I am you may be also.
- 11:33And I know that there's a place where there are happy reunions on streets of gold,
- 11:41and I know there's a place where I can go and I'll be known as I was known and
- 11:46those that have gone on before me who have run the race with patience who have
- 11:50run the race and they've come to the place in their life where Jesus is face to face.
- 11:55I know that I'll see them again and I'll know them and they'll know me.
- 11:58And I know that there is a place of eternal peace.
- 12:03And I know that place is heaven. But I know that I can have a bit of that peace
- 12:09in my heart because Jesus Christ lives in me.
- 12:14And he has said, he has said that he would keep me in perfect peace if my mind would stay on him.
- 12:23If you would, please turn to Philippians chapter 4, verses 6 and 7.
- 12:28Be careful for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving,
- 12:37let your requests be made known unto God and the peace of God.
- 12:42Did you hear me? And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding.
- 12:50Shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Shall we pray?
- 12:57Our kind and most gracious dear Heavenly Father, Lord, we just come to you with thankful hearts.
- 13:03We come, dear Heavenly Father, so grateful that you have invited us,
- 13:08that we might come to you, that we might know you, that we might be able to
- 13:12speak to you, that we could have a personal relationship with you.
- 13:15And you have said, let our requests be made known unto you and that you would
- 13:20give us peace because we could trust you with our cares and our burdens.
- 13:24You've spoken to our hearts and you've said to us in your holy word that we
- 13:28could just take your burden and you would take ours, that your yoke was easy
- 13:34and your burden was light.
- 13:36Lord, as we begin to just touch upon this subject of peace, that wonderful gift
- 13:42which you've bestowed upon those that placed their faith in you,
- 13:46Lord, we just ask that you would open our hearts, that you would open our minds,
- 13:50that you would change our lives, that we would live a life that is filled with
- 13:54faith and confidence in a God that cannot fail.
- 13:58Lord, we pray that you would help us to just put our mind under subjection to
- 14:02the holy blood of Jesus Christ, to your will and your word, and that we would
- 14:07be able to walk in the ways that you have prepared for us to walk.
- 14:12Lord, we pray that you would just touch every hurting heart within the sound
- 14:17of my voice, Lord, that they would just turn their hearts to you,
- 14:22that they might feel that balm of Gilead that comes only from you.
- 14:27Lord, that you could calm their fears as they place their faith in you.
- 14:31And Lord, that the things of
- 14:33this world would grow strangely dim in the light of your glory and grace.
- 14:39Lord, I pray that you would speak through these lips of clay,
- 14:43that your words would come forth in a mighty authoritative way,
- 14:50that Satan's hold on anyone listening to what you have to say today would be
- 14:57completely loosed in the power and name of Jesus Christ.
- 15:01And, Lord, that depression and fear would rule no more in the lives of those
- 15:08who place their faith in you,
- 15:12who are listening as we speak on this beautiful gift you've given us.
- 15:17Lord, give them the courage and the strength to grab the peace that your grace
- 15:24so bountifully supplies.
- 15:27With all these things we ask In thy most precious and holy name we pray.
- 15:31And all of God's people said, amen.
- 15:36In Hebrews 11, 6, as we were speaking, it said, but without faith,
- 15:42it is impossible to please him.
- 15:45We need a faith that is unstoppable.
- 15:49Is unwavering and we
- 15:52need to place that faith in a God
- 15:55that cannot fail for you
- 15:59see he has bestowed upon us peace
- 16:03and he has given us the recipe for living in peace he tells us clearly that
- 16:11we need to keep our minds on him but he tells us in this passage of scripture
- 16:16in Philippians chapter 4 and verse 6 that we need to be careful for nothing.
- 16:23Worry has no place in the child of God who is in the center of his will.
- 16:28I don't say that out of smugness or
- 16:31arrogance for I walk in the same shoes that
- 16:34you walk and I live in the same world that you live
- 16:37in and you better believe it there are days that
- 16:40I have the same problems you do
- 16:44and there are some times that I succumb
- 16:47to the same wiles of the devil that
- 16:50you do when we're talking about worry been there
- 16:53done that have the sleepless nights to
- 16:56prove it but it was because i chose
- 16:59to ignore the grace of
- 17:02jesus christ who said my grace is sufficient who said i know the plans i have
- 17:08for you who said cast your care upon me because i care it was because i chose
- 17:14to think about things in my own mind and in my own strength instead of saying, Father,
- 17:20I need you. And I'm scared.
- 17:25Because he says, perfect love casts out all fear.
- 17:28And if my faith in Christ is as it should be, then worry has no place.
- 17:34Because I know regardless of what comes in my path, regardless of what I see,
- 17:40regardless of the events that take place in my life, that Jesus Christ is with me.
- 17:45Because he said, I'll never I will never leave you nor forsake you.
- 17:49Said, you can do all things through me. And he said, I'll supply all to your needs.
- 17:55So when I have chosen to worry and I have fretted and I have been so filled
- 18:02with anxiety that tears of fear slide down my face, it's not because I didn't have help.
- 18:10It's because I chose not to because I didn't like what was going on.
- 18:15You see, it's real important that you listen to me on this because I'm going
- 18:19to tell you something I've learned the hard way.
- 18:21My tears of worry have never been because I didn't think God could do his job.
- 18:27My tears of worry have always been because I didn't like the job he was doing.
- 18:32And I am sorry to tell you that, but if you're honest with me,
- 18:36you'll tell me the same thing.
- 18:38When I went through the midst of the valley of the shadow of death with a dear
- 18:42loved one who meant the world to me, And it seemed to me that when no longer
- 18:47that person was going to be in my life, I couldn't see what tomorrow would hold.
- 18:51You see, I didn't like life without her.
- 18:54But I forgot I had life with him. And his way is perfect.
- 19:00And his will is great. And I don't have to like the situation because I don't understand it.
- 19:08But when I begin to get in the word of God and I begin to get in my knees and
- 19:12I began to get away from myself and I began to spend time with the Holy Lamb
- 19:16of God, then I realized that it isn't about me, but it's about his perfect will.
- 19:22And the life of that loved one was so far better off to be somewhere else and
- 19:29she had run the race with patience and she lost nothing and she gained it all.
- 19:34But the sleepless nights weren't about her.
- 19:37The sleepless nights weren't about not thinking God didn't care.
- 19:41The truth of the matter was, was I was angry because it wasn't what I wanted.
- 19:47Not faith. Basically, you're saying, I know better, God. Did you just forget about what I wanted?
- 19:55You see, he's God, and he can't forget, and he never forgets.
- 20:01And he's not pushed around by circumstance or emotion.
- 20:05He always does what's right, when it's right and how it's right.
- 20:10And what was best was for her to spend eternity in a place she'd lived her whole life for.
- 20:17And if my faith was unstoppable and my faith unwaverable, that in the wee hours
- 20:24of night when the devil would come to me and give me fear about tomorrow,
- 20:28I would remember who holds tomorrow.
- 20:31The same God who held my hand my whole life. The same God I've seen rise me
- 20:36and watch me walk through the valley.
- 20:38Who's brought me through the mountains. Who supplied my every need. Who has been there.
- 20:43Who even in the very midst of the worst times of my life has made it bearable
- 20:47because his grace is sufficient, who showed himself to me in ways I'd never
- 20:52seen him before when I needed him most.
- 20:55And even in the wee hours of the night, when the tears were flying and the body
- 21:00was weak and emotions were out of control,
- 21:04that same God was there and he was offering his grace and he was offering his
- 21:10love and he was offering his mercy.
- 21:12But my heart wasn't going to receive it.
- 21:16It wasn't the peace of God that I wanted. I wanted my way. I wanted my mom. I wanted it done my way.
- 21:23As we begin to talk about the peace of God, it is incredibly important that
- 21:29you begin to really look at your relationship with God and you really begin
- 21:34to look at how you're dealing with your situations.
- 21:39Must examine your faith and realize that a faith in God produces peace.
- 21:48As we begin to continue to study this topic, I want you to really look at faith
- 21:56because it's faith in God that will produce peace.
- 22:02Join us in our next lesson as we continue to discover the greatness of his gift. of peace.
