- 0:00Speaker 1: It is time for us to go to God in prayer,
- 0:01Speaker 1: and as always I ask that you joined me. I
- 0:05Speaker 1: am Sherry Mackie. You know I see so many people
- 0:08Speaker 1: hurting and I just want to pray that we will
- 0:10Speaker 1: have compassion. Father, God, in the name of Jesus Christ,
- 0:15Speaker 1: thank you for being our example of love and compassion. God,
- 0:20Speaker 1: we see so many people who are hurting and beaten
- 0:23Speaker 1: down by the cares of life. You are the source
- 0:27Speaker 1: of all tenderness and truth. We come before you with
- 0:30Speaker 1: hearts open and aching, yearning to be vessels of compassion
- 0:35Speaker 1: in a hurting world. God, let us feel the pain
- 0:38Speaker 1: of others not as a weight that breaks us, but
- 0:41Speaker 1: as a sacred invitation to care and love and show
- 0:44Speaker 1: compassion to others. God, where there's sorrow, teach us not
- 0:49Speaker 1: to turn away, Help us to kneel beside the grieving,
- 0:53Speaker 1: to hold the trembling hand of the weary, and to
- 0:56Speaker 1: whisper peace when worlds fall apart in words, fall short. Lord,
- 1:02Speaker 1: break down the walls that even we've built in fear,
- 1:06Speaker 1: those quiet defenses that keep us from seeing the stranger
- 1:11Speaker 1: as our sister or our brother, the enemy as our teacher,
- 1:15Speaker 1: the wounded as Holy, Oh God, give us eyes that
- 1:19Speaker 1: seek understanding and not judgment. Give us ears God that
- 1:23Speaker 1: listen without interruption, a mouth that speaks kindness even when
- 1:29Speaker 1: anger tempts to wound or to fight back. God, if
- 1:33Speaker 1: we got to be strong, let it be in our gentleness.
- 1:38Speaker 1: If we've got us speak truth, God, let it be
- 1:40Speaker 1: lace with mercy and love. If we've got to act,
- 1:44Speaker 1: let it be our hands laid by love and not
- 1:48Speaker 1: pride and ego. May compassion our first language, flouid, full
- 1:52Speaker 1: and fearless. Let it rise in us like a tide
- 1:55Speaker 1: that washes away indifference and heals the broken. God, for
- 1:59Speaker 1: every soul we pass today, the joyful, the loss, the silent,
- 2:03Speaker 1: the loud, let us remember they too carry burdens, burdens
- 2:07Speaker 1: we can't see. Let us greet them, God, not with suspicion,
- 2:13Speaker 1: but with the quiet dignity of shared humanity. God, in
- 2:17Speaker 1: the world so quick to divide, make us a bridge
- 2:21Speaker 1: and a time so rich and noise. God, make us
- 2:25Speaker 1: a still place of refuge for others. God, we surrender
- 2:28Speaker 1: our own egos, our own assumptions, our own uncertainties, that
- 2:34Speaker 1: something greater can rise in us. God, let compassion, Let
- 2:38Speaker 1: your love, let your light shine in us, through us,
- 2:42Speaker 1: every day.
