- 0:16distinctions, possibilities, new ways of thinking, and just bring
- 0:20some joy. Into the.
- 0:21World. So welcome to the coop, and
- 0:23let's start your day off in a fantastic way.
- 0:27Hey everybody good. Morning from the chicken coop.
- 0:31OK, so let's talk about walking because it's one of the things
- 0:35that I do most during my days. I walk, I walk, I walk, I walk,
- 0:40I walk, I walk. And my clients that I work with
- 0:43regularly all know that while I'm talking to them, I'm walking
- 0:48because it helps me stay focused and in the right state of energy
- 0:52for their sessions. And people will ask, well, how
- 0:56do you, how do you take notes? How do you do all this?
- 0:58Well, I've conditioned my brain in order to remember.
- 1:02I and I also have an iPad that I keep out that has built in
- 1:06notebooks for every one of my clients.
- 1:08And I stop and I jot notes in as I'm walking my circle around the
- 1:12farm. And it may sound crazy, but it's
- 1:15the way I stay energetic from the beginning of the day to the
- 1:18end of the day. Because when you have 12
- 1:20sessions a day, you know, four days straight each week, you're,
- 1:25you're, you have to do things in order to make yourself OK with
- 1:30doing that level of work. And I enjoy it.
- 1:33So that's the first part of it. Now, why are we talking about
- 1:36walking? Well, there's a recent study out
- 1:39that was confirmed that talks about how walking is insanely
- 1:45powerful in more than one way, just for your for your heart,
- 1:49your lungs, everything else. However, this one says that it
- 1:54can boost your memory and grow your hippocampus.
- 1:57If you're walking for 40 minutes three times a week, 40 minutes
- 2:01three times a week, and it actually grows your hippocampus
- 2:06isn't that insane? So this is all about making sure
- 2:11that there is a huge portion of movement in the human body.
- 2:16We were not meant to be sedentary.
- 2:18So all these people that love to comment that I don't like to sit
- 2:22still. I don't, I don't like to sit
- 2:25still. I sit still when there's a
- 2:26reason. If it involves a movie or, you
- 2:30know, hanging out with my family, I can do that.
- 2:33I absolutely choose to do that. But honestly, I got to tell you,
- 2:38I very much enjoy movement. One, it makes me feel alive. 2 I
- 2:43love to have busy hands because growing things, as you know, is
- 2:48my gig. It's my jam.
- 2:49I just love to do it. I want to be out there digging,
- 2:52fixing things, redesigning things.
- 2:55I just don't sit stillwell and I never have.
- 2:58And there was a time where that was bothersome for everyone
- 3:02around me when I was younger. However, I have learned to work
- 3:06with it and make a lot out of it and that's the whole point.
- 3:11You make a lot out of it. You put yourself in that place.
- 3:14And if you are a sedentary person and you're listening to
- 3:17this, let me tell you, walking changed my life because when I
- 3:21moved S from north to South and I got involved in southern food
- 3:25and did not realize I was gaining weight, it was the way
- 3:29that I lost my weight. I literally walked my butt off
- 3:33and I'm not joking about that. I for 18 months, my goal was to
- 3:37go down from where I was to where I wanted to be.
- 3:40And it was 40 lbs. And because I'm tall and I'm
- 3:45just kind of straight by nature, it just went on all over.
- 3:49I was kind of like a sausage and I couldn't figure out where all
- 3:52this weight was. But the scales don't lie.
- 3:54Numbers don't lie. So I had to literally walk my
- 3:58butt off. And the first thing I don't like
- 4:01going to the gym. I can't stand taking the time in
- 4:03the car going it me crazy. So I just started walking and we
- 4:08lived in this neighborhood at the time that I could just it
- 4:11was like a cul-de-sac neighborhood.
- 4:13So everyone thought it was insane because all I did was
- 4:16walk. But what happened was magical
- 4:19because it wasn't just the weight that came off, it was my
- 4:23attitude shifted, my ideas shifted, my energy shifted, and
- 4:27one would think the more you walk the more tired you would
- 4:30become. But the exact opposite happened
- 4:33and all I could imagine was wow I can't believe how much energy
- 4:37I have. If I keep going I'll feel even
- 4:40better. And because of that I did.
- 4:43And this time of year always is difficult for me to continue
- 4:49walking at the rates I normally do because I get usually I get
- 4:52like 22 to 25,000 steps a day. But in this heat, in this
- 4:57humidity, I have to cut back. I have to walk in the house.
- 5:01I am at a slower pace, so I drop back to like 15,000 steps in
- 5:05this humidity. Otherwise I'm just drenched and
- 5:08I'm giving myself a rash and it's uncomfortable.
- 5:10And it does change you. So now I switch over and I sit
- 5:15on a stationary bike, sit on, you know, my, the bike that I
- 5:20have in my studio and I just sit there and I, you know, pedal
- 5:23while I'm talking. So at least I'm moving and
- 5:26feeling it. But the point is move because it
- 5:29grows your brain. Get up, walk, do something
- 5:32because it changes everything my friends.
- 5:35So I hope you have a blessed day and I will see you tomorrow.
- 5:38Bye.
