- Barry: And for some reason, it made me laugh really hard. Well, Shaun: Yeah. Barry: I was drinking coffee at the time and yo, I started choking hardcore bro. Like Jen: no. Barry: hardcore. So then I like I get up from the desk here to run to the kitchen. Yo, I make it to the sink and I passed out. Shaun: I'm torn with this because I totally agree with some of the stuff that she is saying, but there are two major issues that I have with this. Jen: I don't. That's so nice of you. That's so nice of you to try and see his perspective. No. Barry: I agree with Shaun. He could have been... No, he could have been... There is conflicting. There is. There is confliction in it. Shaun: I don't. Jen: No, there's Shaun: Yeah. Jen: not. Shaun: welcome back to A Bald Enough to Say It. Episode number 17. We're almost there to 20. Like, we're getting really close. Barry: But watch out. Watch out. Music, please. Jen: Mm-hmm. Shaun: But as we normally do, Jen, how was your week, ma'am? Jen: I mean, if anything, I can give this year the word consistency because it's just been consistently kicking my behind. it was really busy. lots of things going on, but it wasn't it wasn't too crazy. I don't have anything cool to say because it's just so busy with normal life things, but nothing nothing too bad. I was Barry: You were close to me this weekend, but you didn't come by and say hi. Jen: first of all first of all, I really was. literally like could see your house. I waved, I sent you a selfie and was like, Hey, I'm right here. Barry: I'm joking. I'm joking. Right across the street. I could have like waved. I could have waved from... I was rude. I should have came and stood Shaun: Not close right across the street from you. Yeah. Barry: outside, but I was like, nah, Shaun: Mm. Barry: I'm on the couch real comfy. Jen: Whatever. Well, and see, Shaun: Yeah. Jen: I was like, I should just go pound on their door really quick. And then I was like, No, because if they're cozy, I don't Barry: I was at home alone. Jen: wanna I don't wanna mess with their coziness. Barry: The girls were out spending some of their like gift cards they got for their birthdays. Hit up Jen: Ooh, fun. That's nice. Shaun: Ooh, must be nice. Barry: Bath and Body Works and Target. Jen: Love. Speaking of bath and body work, Shaun, I know you're a big candle guy too. Shaun: Yes. Jen: did you get some of their three wigs while they were on sale? Shaun: I haven't. So here's the thing about me with candles. Three wicks. Yeah. Three wick candles. Yeah. Yeah. Barry: Did you say three wicks? I mean, I get it. I'm just making sure I heard that correctly. I do. I mean, I don't get candles like y'all do, I'm sure, Jen: Mm-hmm. They're like the big candles. Do you get it, Barry? Barry: but I get what y'all are referring. Shaun: Yeah. I mean, I I feel like I've got a pretty good stockpile of candles right now. I actually had a friend come over, I think this was last year. friend came over last year and I was like, Hey, you want some candles? Take some. Like take some out of these boxes. Yeah, I got I got Jen: I have too many. Barry: Got extra candles, huh? Shaun: plenty. but yeah, I didn't get any this year. I had a couple I had a friend put me on to a a different company last year too. Jen: Ooh. Shaun: I'm not gonna say it here. I'm gonna gatekeep. I'm just gonna be honest, I'm gonna gatekeep. I'll I'll text to you. I'll tell you, I'll tell you later. Jen: that's so rude. You can text me you can text me on the side. Okay. Okay, good. Shaun: but yeah, I've been buying their candles, so I haven't bought anything from Bad Bath Bath and Body Works in a couple of years now. So but they do have some good ones. That mahogany teakwood, it gets me. Every single time. Yeah. Jen: But the body works. Mm-hmm. Mm hmm. They do. It every time. It's my favorite. Shaun: The high intensity one, geez. It's the way to go. Put it in the living room. You can smell it everywhere. Jen: So good. So good. And I even went and got mahogany teak wood from a different company. And I was like, it's not the same. Yeah. It's one of my favorite scents. You are missing out. You should check it out. That's Barry: Logany Teakwood, huh? Sounds like I'm missing out. Not a candle person. Shaun: Yes. You are. Jen: okay. I I'm much more of a diffuser person, I think, lately than I am Candle. But okay. Shaun: I like the fire with candle. Left turn, what? Barry: Go raw dog. No, we just go raw dog. We don't have like air. We just go whatever our house smells like. Natural house Shaun: Just a just natural house smell. Jen: There you go. Barry: musk. Jen: There you go. Shaun: There you go. That's nice. Barry: That's our set. Jen: Just giving off your scent everywhere. Barry: Now Becca uses stuff. She uses like Febreze or whatever. Jen: I do love the f this is such how do we get on these topics? I love I know, but they could be. So listen, we gotta we gotta let know, we'll talk about But the Fabrize Gain fabric refresher. Shaun: Yeah, none of these are sponsors by the way. Just gonna throw that out there. Like none of these are sponsors. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Barry: They aren't, but always. Anytime. that Becca loves that smell. She loves Gain, I can't, that's just so much. Not a big Jen: For like my curtains, I just go around and spray the curtains and it so good. Barry: like fragrance person. I just, I don't even really enjoy cologne. Shaun: Same. Other than cologne. I'll do cologne and candles. That's that's basically it. Anything else? I don't really do a lot of fragrance either. Barry: Yeah, no. Jen: I like Barry: Like I said, just natural musk. Shaun: I come a lot. Natural musk. Jen: Like a law. Barry: Yeah, no, they say Shaun: Yeah. Barry: that's the most attractive smell you can wear. Your own smell. Shaun: You sound like Ron Jen: Mm. Shaun: Burgundy. Barry: 60 % of the time it works all the time. No, I don't gotta worry about that. Shaun: Yeah. Jeez. Great movie. Yes. But no. So busy week, adulting, it sounds like regular life type of stuff happening. Jen: Anyways Yeah. Yeah. Nothing fun. Shaun: I feel you. I feel you. Barry, what about your dog? Barry: Just being a parent and an adult, huh? Shaun: Yeah. That's how it is. Jen: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Learning how to be a Barry: Gosh, kind of overrated Jen: a a medical care provider. And Barry: Pretty young one Shaun: yeah. Jen: yes, he's had a lot of lows lately. So we're trying to figure out why Barry: Mm. Jen: and how to adjust. And we got his pods, his insulin pump pods. So we have to go take a training class on how to utilize them and change them and all that stuff. So many things. Barry: Thanks a lot. Shaun: That's fair. I mean, that's a major lifetime change Barry: Yeah. Shaun: for a kid. So Jen: Yeah. Yeah. Barry: Like we said, I can imagine. Shaun: lifetime and lifestyle, yeah. Jen: Yeah. For sure. Barry: Hopefully it works through them, even though a lot of adults Jen: Yeah. Barry: don't work through that stuff well, so it's tough. Jen: But I think that's kind of the if there's any kind of beauty in it or whatever, the gl the small glimmers that it's happening Shaun: Silver lining. Jen: to him when he's young. So he like Yeah. Especially like growing up to get to the adult stage. He's not gonna know really like he'll have some memories and stuff, but Barry: True, so he doesn't know much different. True. Yeah. What a life was. Yeah. Yeah, Shaun: Yeah. Barry: that's true. Shaun: Mm-hmm. Jen: He'll just be so used to it. Hopefully it's not doesn't turn into one of those situations where that you don't want to take care of yourself because you just knew what life was before and you're just angry about it. Barry: Yeah, Shaun: Yeah. Barry: just yeah, true that. Jen: Yeah. Anyways. That was Barry: No Jen: that was my week. Shaun: Yeah. Still a lot of stuff hanging over from all that, so Jen: Mm-hmm. Shaun: definitely makes Barry: Fisher. Shaun: a lot of sense. Barry: Now, but for me, Shaun: Barry, what about you, Doug? Barry: we resurfaced, re-glazed, I don't know whatever term you want to use the girls shower and bathtubs. They were, Jen: okay. Shaun: Mm. Barry: I don't know whoever we bought it from did it themselves or if they had had it done a while ago, but it was, well, in our youngest likes to peel things. So of course, if she sees a little, little bit. Jen: Just picking. Barry: It turns into a lot. So we actually Jen: Mm-hmm. Landon's the same way. Barry: just celebrated a year this week in the house. So it's crazy. I know been a year now. So Jen: That is insane. No way it's been a year. It does not seem like that at all. That's wild. Shaun: Dang, that's crazy. It doesn't seem like that, but yeah, golly. Barry: yeah, we did that. We had a dude here two days. They did do a good job. It looks good. Our oldest got her a little step in shower. Redone. Jen: Ooh, nice. Shaun: Yeah. Barry: And then I was painting all their Shaun: Let's see. Barry: hardware black while it was off. Like while they were. Yeah, Jen: Did you like spray paint it? Mm. Barry: I messed up on the first go through it. So I had to go get paint stripper and restart over. Jen: no. Try again. Mm-hmm. Shaun: How do you how do you mess up spray painting it? Barry: I put the clear coat on too early so it shrunk the paint and left a texture in it. Shaun: gotcha. Yeah. Jen: Mm, yep. Barry: So I had to strip it all off. Started from scratch. Lost a Jen: So fun. We love that. Shaun: Thing. Ain't got nothing else do. Barry: day of work. Jen: It just keeping you busy. Yeah. Yeah. Shaun: It is what it is. First Barry: something like that. But Shaun: world problems. Barry: they are facts. While that guy was here on Friday, Becca and I, we work from home. We are blessed enough to have Jen: Mm-hmm. Barry: this opportunity. Also my, my, call her my teammate because she's not my coworker. Jen: Mm. Barry: my office mate, you will. My office mate. Jen: Y yeah, I was about to say your office worker, your office teammate. Mm-hmm. Shaun: Yeah. Barry: She was about to go into a meeting and we were chatting and she had sent me a GIF through like our work messaging system. And I was like, yo, why did you send this to me? I didn't understand why she did when she did the day before. And I just never asked her. She said that I was like, eating a salad I had made like a taco salad for lunch with our leftover taco meat. Jen: And it was too crunchy. Barry: And I was like, it was a metal bowl and I had a metal fork. So I was like scraping. And she was Jen: They're clinking. Barry: teaching or doing something. And she was like, yo, you just kept making noise. And for some reason, Shaun: Yeah. Jen: Okay. Barry: it made me laugh really hard. Well, Shaun: Yeah. Barry: I was drinking coffee at the time and yo, I started choking hardcore bro. Like Jen: no. Barry: hardcore. So then I like I get up from the desk here to run to the kitchen. Yo, I make it to the sink and I passed out. I went. I'd lost consciousness, bro. I Jen: No you did not. Barry: swear to God. Becca, like I'm lost. I was like, yo, it was the weird, I have never passed out fainted or anything. I've never lost consciousness Jen: That's so scary. Barry: in my life. Not even blackout drunk to this. Like it was, I didn't remember Jen: My god. Barry: anything for 30 seconds, yo. It was kind of scary, but it was also weirdly Jen: That's terrifying. Shaun: That's hilarious. Barry: calm at the same time. Jen: Shaun, just like, ha ha. Shaun: We're involved. Barry: It was weird, bro. It was a weird ex. Yes. Jen: Did she find you or did you just like wake up? Barry: OK, so she was like she started yelling like, yo, are you OK? Because she saw me run. And then she said she heard a little something and then didn't hear anything. And I'm not the best responder either throughout just natural life. Like she'll probably yell something to me and I don't say nothing and just think she saw me Jen: Yeah. Barry: or like just assumes that whatever she wanted. Yes, I don't know. I'm not the best at it all the time. She's like, well, maybe he was just ignoring me. And then she waited a couple seconds and said it again. And I didn't say anything. So she kind of walked into the kitchen thinking I was just being dramatic. I was laid out on the kitchen floor. My head was by the cabinets. My feet were by the refrigerator. And I was literally on my back like an anatomic. She said my eyes were open. She said they were super bugged out. And like, she was like yelling at me to respond and I don't remember any of this. I remember making it to the sink and the next thing I remember she's standing over me shaking me like she was legit scared like I was gonna die. Jen: my g yes, that I would have been too. my gosh. Shaun: Jesus. Barry: So, but yo, for like 20 to 30 seconds, was just dreaming and I was like, what? Like it was weird and all of sudden, like I just came to and she was literally like, I had sat up on my own. She was like, my eyes were open the whole time but I was completely unconscious. But I think Jen: That's so crazy. Shaun: Jeez. Barry: I caught myself cause my head and neck, nothing hurt. It wasn't like I got there and then like fell backwards. Cause Jen: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Barry: she was like, it sounded like you like kind of like were scuffling or like. trying to hold on to something, but then it just went quiet. So I think I took myself down slowly, I guess, and laid down on my back. But then I turned around and when I came back to, I was facing the cabinets, like towards the wall with the dining room table. Jen: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Shaun: Yeah. Barry: And she was literally like screaming, honey berry. Like, like her voice was very terrified. And she Jen: my God, yeah, I'm sure. Barry: was like, she said that I, she asked me the first time, she's like, yo, do you know what's happening? And I was like, yeah. And then And then like I woke up and she was like, Hey, do you know what is going on? And I was like, no, what just happened? It was crazy. It was kind of scary. Jen: But like y you were able to talk and like you weren't still choking. That's so crazy. Like it got stuck and then somehow you my gosh. Barry: No, I don't, I think I aspirate, like I think I'd swallowed the coffee into my lungs. It felt like I was drowning, like I feel like that's what drowning would feel like. Like I was, I had it in my mouth and I didn't want to spit it on my computer or anything. So Jen: That's so scary. Uh-huh. Barry: I was like, I can make it there. So I just kind of like hit a good quick jog and drown myself perhaps. But it's okay. So the thing that happened to me is a real thing. It's called vasovagal syncope. And so your body just shuts down out of like, this is like what happens when people who like see needles or blood and they Jen: Like fear. Uh-huh. Barry: pass out or faint. Shaun: yeah. Barry: This is the same type of thing, but yes, it's a high anxiety or high fear factor. So like my body thought Jen: my gosh. Barry: I was drowning and just went like limp. Jen: very Barry: So yeah, bro, I've never Jen: That is so scary. my god. Barry: ever passed out in my life ever. I don't ever want to pass Shaun: god. Barry: out again. Jen: Well also, yeah, now I'd be concerned like if I'm in any kind of high intensity moment then I'm just gonna be like well like Barry: No, I really think it just like my body was like, yo, you're drowning. We got to shut it down, bro. Like you just need to go into survival mode. Shut it all down, bro. Yeah. Yeah. Mm hmm. Chill out. Just Jen: my gosh. 'Cause maybe well, yeah, maybe like your esophagus was like closing up on it and making it worse. So your body was like, Dude, chill the f out So it goes down. Shaun: Shut it all down. God. Barry: they said like your heart rate immediately drops and your blood pressure, your body shut your blood pressure down. So you just so yeah. The vasovagal syncope, bro. Jen: my gosh. That's wild. That's so scary. Shaun: god. that is very scary. Barry: Becca was like, next time spit the milk or spit the coffee out on the floor, bro. She's like, don't try and make it there again. Jen: Yeah. It ain't worth it. Barry: She's like, I get that spit it out on your computer, but she's like, just spit it on the floor. I'll clean it up. Jen: Computers can be replaced, okay? It's fine. Shaun: man. Barry: Yeah, it was pretty scary after the fact because Jen: Yeah, no, that I'm sure and I'm sure that would have been so scary for her. Like Barry: Yeah, no, she thought I was having a stroke or something. Because she Jen: my gosh. Shaun: Please. Barry: was like, she was like, your eyes were bugging, bro. She was like, you she was like, you reminded me of what Ziggy looked like when we found him with a stroke. So, no, Shaun: not a little zig. Barry: I believe it, bro. you feel sympathy Jen: no no. Barry: for him? You just here laughing at me, Shaun. I see how it is, Just cracking up the whole time. Jen: Yeah, right. Literally. He's sit literally like Shaun: Okay, so I'm not playing. Jen: crying, laughing. And you mentioned Zig and he's like, poor Zig, poor Ziggy. Barry: poor guy what? Dang. It's alright, Jen: Barry. Shaun: It's fun. It's funny because you're okay. It's funny because you're okay. Yes, yes. If you would Barry: bro. It's alright, bro. it's funny because I'm talking about it. No it is. It's all right. It really is. Jen: Also. But how Shaun: I mean also the other Jen: scary. my god. Shaun: side of it, if Barry: No, I felt bad. Shaun: if you would have, like imagine like the reason that you died is because you choked on coffee? Dude. That's all that'll be. Barry: coffee. That would be a horrible way to go out bro. That would be a horrible way to go. Jen: He said, I was not I was not losing a drop. Barry: I didn't back. I was like, yo, you didn't spit it out. She was like, I don't know what you did with it, but you did not spit it out bro. Shaun: Just give up the coffee, dog. Jen: He just he said no no. I need every ounce, every drop is going in this body. Thank you very much. That's so wild. Shaun: god. Dog, just let the coffee go, bro. Just just let it out. Barry: man, it was crazy. Yo, I've never blacked out like that. It was kind of crazy. Like I was like dreaming Jen: That's so scary, yeah. my goodness. Shaun: god. Barry: for a hot second. I was like, yo, why am I dreaming? Like I really thought that too. And then Becker like woke me up. It's crazy. Kind of made me think of our quantum quantum quantum immortality. Am I even here now or is it over bro? I went to my new realm. I'm here. This is it. I'm on a new one, I was like, there was that moment. Maybe it happened. I'm coming home. Jen: It was not your time, Barry. It was not your time. Shaun: It was not your time, yes. Jen: I mean, we were just talking about it. Maybe you were just in that other universe for a hot second, hanging out. Shaun: You went through a different timeline for a little bit. Elizabeth, I'm coming for you. Jen: my gosh, how scary. No. Shaun: God. Jen: That's so scary. Barry: It's crazy, bro. Jen: I mean we're laughing, but that's so scary. Shaun: Yes. I am laughing, but honestly Barry: Very crazy. Shaun: I am glad that you are okay and that everything is fine. Barry: I have too, but now I went to urgent care today too, cause like I was starting to have Jen: Yeah. Barry: like freaking pain in my chest, bro. I'm like, I'm not going to be that guy. Jen: my god. Barry: She was like, no, you probably just have like some, Jen: Aye. Barry: some like a abrasion or stuff from what happened. Like just some, agitation in your chest. was like, as long as it doesn't spread out where you're good. All right. Jen: Okay. But what does that what do w hm? Shaun: Yeah. How do I know if it spreads outward? What are we talking about? Barry: No, I mean, no, I do. know Jen: Yeah, what Barry: she's I'm starting to be a pro with all this stuff. My GERD and all this chest. Jen: Well, yeah, that's true. You do have experience with that chest pain and stuff, so Barry: But now this one felt a little different. So I'm all, but Jen: Mm. Barry: I mean, I'd rather be the guy that goes and gets it checked out than be the guy that was like, no, I thought it was nothing. And then I'm Jen: Hundred percent. Yeah, that was fun. Barry: passed out dead. I'm good. I'll be Jen: my gosh. So scary. Barry: that guy. Shaun: Woke up dead Barry: Thanks. Jen: I woke up dead. Barry: Woke up dead. No, Shaun: Okay. Barry: thank you. Jen: It's Shaun. Who knew that Shaun really just felt Barry: Don't drink none bro. Don't don't have you a vasovagal Syncope on camera, bro. We don't need that We're not close enough to go get you to shake you to wake you When that's a Becca she was like yo if you didn't respond He's Jen: We d also I will immediately call nine one one and tell them to go over there. Shaun: As soon as I took a drink a second ago, it immediately clicked. Barry: like I better stop Telling you bro Becca said she was like five seconds away from call 911 Jen: Yeah. Barry: I was like, as long as my eyes were open and I was like moving, don't be calling 911. I'm okay. Jen: Mm mm, I still would have done it. Absolutely not. Barry: If I'm not responsive, then you better call 911. You better start doing some chest compression. Jen: my gosh, that's so scary. Barry: So that was my Friday morning. So my day started. Jen: Just what a way to start the weekend. Almost died. How fun. Barry: So I appreciate life this weekend. That's for sure. Jen: My gosh. That's so wild. Barry: But then yesterday, Saturday, when I was to eat with my mom. Well, Shaun: man Jen: You didn't spend the day recovering from almost dying? Barry: that's what I was like, should we go to the ER? And I was like, for what? I just Google what it is. It's exactly what happened. Jen: Barry, you cannot Google everything and just think that Google. No, you cannot. Mm Barry: I mean, at least I went today. I mean. Shaun: Sure you can. There's WebMD doctors everywhere. Jen: mm. Barry: And I try and be just like factual. What am I feeling? What is it most Jen: Yeah. Barry: likely from? So I did, but I got it right. I knew this is what had happened to me when I Googled it Friday. I was like, this is what it is. The Jen: We're fine. Barry: urgent care doctor said this is what it is. I was like, that's what I thought. So Jen: Hard. Barry: a lot of times when I go in, that's usually what kind of happens. I'm not one of those people that thinks I'm like going to die, but I just I would like to at least have a little idea of what possibly happened. And this is what made the most sense from what happened. It was a very anxiety driven moment. So. Jen: And we love that Shaun finds that hysterical. Shaun: You really Barry: I gave him the best laugh, That's the best end of Shaun's day he could ask for right here. Shaun: You're you're like one of those fading goats Jen: Mm-hmm. Barry: It's scary to just pass the hell out. But yo, like needles and Jen: Apa Barry: blood, I can look at that. Nothing else. I just, you know, I just really think my body was like, yo, you're drowning. You gotta shut it down. Jen: You gotta hold on, like relax your body. Barry: But yo, I tell Becca when like, when she be hitting the brakes so hard, like I tell her I go limp. Cause they say if you get in a car accident, you should go limp. So my body was like, yo, go limp bro. Just fall Jen: Yes. That is true. Go limp. Barry: out. Put it down. Lay it down, bro. she be making fun of me. She's like, that's really what you took. I was like, yes, exactly what I'm talking about. So we slam on the brakes. just like lean into a bow. The seatbelt catches me and I'm natural. Jen: my god. That is true. Barry: Now we watch some tornado special and they said Shaun: Go Limp is a new catchphrase. Barry: if you're ever in a tornado and you start getting flown around, you should just go limp because you actually have a better chance of survival. If then Jen: Just yeah. Mm-hmm. Barry: if you get rigid and like brace. So yeah, it was a crazy day. Jen: Wild. And he went back to work two minutes later. Barry: I did. I've had a meeting at one. I ran that joint bro. Just fine. Just fine. Jen: Ay ay ay. That's wild. Barry: But now yesterday went out and eat for my mom's birthday. She turned 65 this week. So happy Jen: Ooh. All right, Mama Muth. Happy birthday. Shaun: Happy birthday. Barry: birthday mom. But yeah, that was good. Good little meal. And then today I went and played some disc golf with my buddy. It was hot, but it was a cool course. We went to the South side of San Antonio. I forget the name of the park, but it was like a brand new disc golf course, they just built out this park on the South side. So. Yeah. Jen: That's far for you. Shaun: So Yeah. Barry: And the whole time, like I was feeling like that uncomfortableness in my chest, I was like, yo, I should just go to urgent care right now. I was like, nah, bro, I'm just going to go walk. be if I start to have some chest pains, Jen: Mm. Barry: then I'll call an ambulance. But it was fine. Yo, but Jen: Out in the heat. Barry: speaking of the doctor said because there is. I'm not 100 % out of the woods yet. was like, you could get, my God, I'm gonna go blank. Aspiration, pneumonia, where the liquid does stay in your lungs and infects you. She's like, Jen: Mm, mm. Yeah. Barry: if you're walking and if you're active, she was like, usually your body naturally dispels or gets Jen: Mm-hmm. Barry: rid of it. So, I was just don't be sedentary. I was like, mean, no, I got you. So, that ain't me, no. Shaun: That's not you anyway. You don't know how Jen: Mm. Yeah. Shaun: to be still. Barry: Not too much, not too much. Shaun: Yeah. Barry: So, yeah, that was my week. Crazy one. I am too. Jen: Well. Mm mm. Shaun: I'm glad you're good, bro. Yes. Man. Well, I Barry: What about you? Shaun: I don't I don't know how to follow that, honestly. Jen: Right. I lived throughout the weekend. Barry: I mean, he almost did. He almost died here on the show laughing, bro. Shaun: That's that's true. And then as soon as I took that drink, Jen: that's true. It's close calls everywhere. Shaun: the the image clicked in my head and I was like, no. Barry: You're see Shaun run out the door. Nah, he gonna spit it right out on the carpet. like F that. All right. Shaun: I'll spit it out. Screw all this stuff. I don't care. Jen: Yeah, he'll just be like Shaun: I can buy a new keyboard and mouse and stuff. Jen: Mm-hmm. Shaun: I can't afford new lungs. I ain't got that kind of money. Barry: They said my lungs were good though, bro. They're like, your lungs sound good. Jen: Right. Not in this America. Shaun: No. Man. yeah, my w he could Barry: I got an EKG. They did me all them things. Shaun: Right, yeah. My watch gonna start going crazy. But no. Jen: Mm-hmm. Barry: Your heart is elevated. Shaun: I don't I didn't really do my I don't I honestly can't remember my week now. Like all I can think about is Barry laid out on the floor. but Jen: Ha ha. Barry: Yeah, this was the one time we were back, we were like, yo, I wish we had a security camera to have seen like, yo, cause we still can't Jen: Yeah, to know what Shaun: yes. Jen: happened. Mm-hmm. Barry: figure out how I made it down to where I did like Shaun: He is. man. Barry: safely without hurting myself. I wish we Jen: Yeah. Barry: would have that on camera. I really do. Like I would like. Shaun: That would have been great. Barry: like the actual amount of time that I was like on the ground before. Jen: Mm-hmm. Barry: And Becca, she Shaun: Yeah. Barry: said, she thought I was being dramatic. She thought she was like, I thought you were just laying there like being like, you made it, you spit it out or whatever. And then she was like, but you were not responding to me. So this is like, Shaun: Thank you. Jen: That's a wild. Barry: I really started to freak out when you were responding. Jen: Mm. Shaun: Peace. Yeah, I d Jen: Crazy. Shaun: honestly I didn't really do too much this week that I can think of right now. football's back, so of course watch some football. UT is now three and Put it out there. Just gonna say that. the Broncos are Barry: Who they got next week? Shaun: now one and one. Do what? Barry: Who does UT got next week? Shaun: Next week is it's a I know it's a top twenty-five matchup. I wanna say it's no Barry: Is it big 12? They start big 12 point? I mean SEC. Shaun: it is SEC. It's Tennessee. That's who it is, it's Tennessee. so yeah, they picked Tennessee to come be Barry: The other UT. Shaun: the other UT. The quote unquote original UT since they were Barry: oooo Shaun: established like two years ahead or something like that, but they could never be. Jen: Mm. Shaun: but yeah, so definitely watch to that. I also kind of like Jen was adulting a lot. we are in mid September, so fertilizing grass, fertilizing trees, trying to get everything good. I bought a couple of planters. I'm waiting for those to come in. So very excited about that. Start growing my own Jen: What are you gonna put in them? Shaun: stuff. I don't know yet. I don't know if I'm gonna do one fruit and one vegetable or do one that's like a Jen: Mm. Shaun: lot of herbs, like hardier herbs. And then do light vegetables. I don't know yet. Something like that. Definitely gonna start going home stuff. but and that Barry: for bro, ready for the end of the world. Jen: Love that. Shaun: yeah, and that kind of goes into like I was I was talking about this a little bit earlier. Like, I just don't know anymore. I feel like I kind of keep going back and forth between these feelings of do I just want to take all of the money that I have and enjoy life? Or or should I still Jen: Mm-hmm. Shaun: prepare for the future? Because it seems like I don't know which way. Like, are we gonna be here for like two more weeks? Yeah. Jen: Honestly, yeah, it's a valid thought. Barry: Week was crazy, bro. Shaun: Like we could be gone in like two weeks and Yeah, like it's Barry: A.I.'s out here doing things. Jen: Mm-hmm, apparently. Shaun: setting itself up for the future. And like we don't Jen: Yeah. Shaun: know what's happening. Like gas prices are Barry: craziness. Shaun: hidden the same prices that they are in gosh, what's that Will Smith movie? I can't even think of the name of it right now. I am Legend, yes. Gas prices are at the same point as that Barry: my gosh, I am legend. Yeah, I saw that. I saw that. Shaun: movie. so yeah, I don't know. This this could actually be the end of days and Barry: End of day, Joe. Now. Shaun: It's like, why not just drain Jen: Mm. Shaun: every account that I have and just enjoy my time? Yeah. But then the other side is like, Jen: So I'm going on vacation. Barry: Never know. Never know. Shaun: okay, well, what if we do make it through this and then like I need to have something? But then Barry: And then you had just starting all over. Jen: You baroque as a up. Shaun: I'm like, I can just live in debt like everybody else. I mean, that's just kind of the way of yeah, that's just kind of the way of the world. So I'm like, Barry: Yo, that's the American way bro. It's the American way. It feels like it. Jen: These days. Shaun: how bad would it actually be at that point? I mean, I'd just be in the same boat as everybody else. So I Barry: Yeah. Yep. Jen: Yeah. Shaun: don't know. It's one of those where I I feel like I'm really struggling with that decision right now. Like, do I just I don't know. Just take Barry: It's a lot to contemplate, man. It is. Shaun: every penny and just enjoy life. Explore the world, explore different places, or actually save for a future. Exactly. And that's the thing, is like Barry: That would be nice. It would be nice. You're not tethered to anything but your dog. Jen: Exactly. Yeah. Shaun: I this is one of those times where it's like, I am I know you're both parents. You're both married. This is one of those times where I'm like, I'm glad I'm not married. I'm glad I don't have kids. Because I don't if Barry: Got your own choice to make for yourself, Mm Jen: Mm-hmm. Shaun: I do screw away everything, then it's not hurting anybody else. So I don't know. Barry: hmm. It's only affecting you. No. Jen: Yeah. Yeah. That's true. Shaun: If y'all see me just disappear one day, that's why. Yeah. There's one you can we're good. yeah. Exactly. There we go. As long as I got Wi Fi, a computer, and a microphone, we're good. We'll be all right. Jen: We know what happened. Barry: I mean, we need you to come and please record bro. So let us know once a week, bro, wherever that's at have at it as long as you got Wi Fi you good. So the matters. That's right. Jen: Haha we need to see you once a week. After that, go do you boo. Yeah. You're then you're good. Shaun: But yeah, that was that was really the bulk of it. Just contemplating Jen: Mm. Shaun: life choices like that. And taking care of the house. That's basically it for the most part. Jen: I hear you. Barry: Yo, the news is crazy on a daily. So, take it in. Jen: Mm. Shaun: Yeah. Also, I spent some money on Ace this week too. Or yeah, this past Barry: oooo Shaun: weekend. By the time this comes out, I would have just come back from a couple of days out of town for work. and a couple of friends are gonna watch him. So I got him some good stuff. So hopefully he doesn't cause any issues for them. Jen: For them. Shaun: Yeah, and it'll be fine. I know he's just gonna whine for like two days Barry: No Dramatics Shaun: straight, but it'll be all right. Jen: I'd just be sad. Barry: All the dramatics. Shaun: Yeah, so dramatic, freaking ridiculous. Jen: How dare he love you? Barry: Yes. Shaun: I I don't have a problem with him loving me. This is the longest he's ever been. Yeah, this is the longest he's ever been in one house. Like, but yeah, it's just the whining. Like, I'm coming back. I told you I told you this the day Jen: Yeah. Shaun: I picked you up. I was like, We your boys now. Like I got you for the rest of your life. I'm coming back. I'll always come back. Stop whining. That's all you have to do. That's all. Barry: Come on bro. Shaun: So yeah, I don't know. Jen: Listen. Barry: Come on. Jen: Let him feel his feelings. Shaun: He'll be all right. He's fine. But I don't know. There's a lot of feelings that are going on. And we we actually talked about one situation earlier on when we started recording. The Jen: Mm-hmm. Shaun: great debate, I guess you can call it, of would you rather be in the woods with a man or with a bear? And yes, Barry: This is specific to females. Shaun: this is specific to females. all this question is. Jen: Well, I mean, I think the conversation has sprouted because female dan females answered it very differently. I don't think it's directed towards females. I think it just turned into a ask your female friends because it's interesting that most females are picking a bear instead of a man. Shaun: Yeah. I don't know. But we do have a video we're gonna share you right here. it was an interview with Trevor Noah that he did and he asked this question. So we're gonna play it for you and then we will talk about it after. Alright. So I don't know. There's a there's a couple of things in there. Like I I'm torn with this because I totally agree with some of the stuff that she is saying, but there are two major issues that I have with this. So I agree with the the thought that basically every woman that you know has been taught like these these certain ways to carry yourself. Like don't do the thing, like don't dress pro provocatively, like Barry: Which, y'all, okay, I'm gonna go ahead and say Shaun: make sure that you're covering yourself and Barry: that's the silliest thing that you should tell a Jen: Mm-hmm. Barry: female. Shaun: It is, but at the Jen: Preach him. Shaun: same time, like I I feel like a lot of women are told that. And Jen, you can you can tell me if I am if I'm right or wrong, but Barry: no, no, no, I agree. But I'm just saying like, that's silly that that is people's thought is to tell them that you caused it because of what you how you dressed and carried yourself. No, hold men accountable Shaun: Because of what you were wearing, or because of the way that you were acting. Barry: for the decisions they make. There's no justification. So let's Shaun: Absolutely. Yes. Barry: not say that that we are agreeing with this. But no, to Shaun's point, Shaun: Yes. Barry: yes, this is what was communicated in the video. Shaun: Yes, these are so many things that are told. And it's one of those where it's like, yeah, I can absolutely see the like women are told this. I've got so many women. I was raped by I was raised by nothing but women. So like I see this like so much that happens and totally agree that there are the grand majority of women that you know have been sexually harassed or sexually, I guess Barry: I assault is like one in three, like legit sexual assault is one in four. Okay, was like, no, it's a very high Shaun: The w assaulted is the the way that she she worded it. Yeah. Yeah. Which is Jen: Assaulted in some way. Mm-hmm. It's one in four. It's one in four. Barry: statistic, way higher than it should be. It is one is four. That's crazy. Jen: Mm-hmm. Yeah. Shaun: Which is an insane number. One and four is absolutely insane. Jen: Throw a rock, you're gonna hit somebody that has. Shaun: You're gonna hit someone that has been. Yeah. Barry: But yes, the harassment on top of it, Shaun: Yes. Barry: which I'm sure even that's a higher percentage I bet when you include that. Shaun: Yeah, for sure. Like the two the two biggest issues that I have with what she said is one, making the insinuation that a man is inherently dangerous. I I don't think that that's a fair assumption to make. Now, I think that it's one of those where you have to protect yourself. So you might have that thought, but just automatically assuming that every man is dangerous, that makes me wonder, like Are you thinking that of your dad? Are you thinking that of your brothers? Are you thinking that of your sons if you have sons? Like if you're saying that a man is inherently dangerous, how did these how did every man become inherently dangerous at that point? Like how did this actually happen? Jen you look like you want to say something, so say it. Say it. Say it. No, say it. Barry: I'm gonna say it. Go ahead, Jen. I have a thought. So here's what I, Jen: I do but I'm trying to be super respectful and like just let you guys Barry: what I might think she, I don't know if she's saying like the man, like men and man, like male sex, gender, however you want to label us. Shaun: Mm-hmm. Barry: I wonder if she's saying Jen: Or man is human. Barry: man as a human. Like we are inherently. Shaun: I don't think she w I don't Yeah, I don't think she was singing it that way. Yeah. Men. As males. Yeah. Jen: A dangerous species, but I agree. I don't think she meant that. I think she meant men, as as Shaun is pointing out, as Barry: We are, when you consider us, okay, I just, men in general, okay? Jen: males. And Barry: Okay. Jen: I hear your perspective of that's kind of unfair because are you thinking about that of the people that are close to you? But I think that's kind of her point, is that Barry: Well, and she also justificate, I don't want to say justified, but made the comment if it hurts you, then you probably are a man that is inherently dangerous. Because if you know that you're not, Shaun: That's the other one that I don't agree with. Barry: if Jen: I Barry: I don't take offense to that, because I don't feel like that is speaking to me as who I am as a man, I can see. Jen: Think that's the only thing that I don't agree with. I think so for Shaun's point of all men generalizing and saying males are inherently dangerous, as a man, I get why you don't get that. Because especially if you are a man who is not a dangerous person or anything like that, like that's very easy for men to say that's so wildly inappropriate. But I think that's where the I Barry: I don't think it's inappropriate. Jen: But that's why I think where they I think the disconnect is because Shaun: I don't think it's inappropriate, yeah. Jen: yes, like if I go into a room and I'm surrounded by men that I don't know, I am on my guard. If I go into parties and situations with my family, I'm still on my guard. Like that's what I think is just such a huge disconnect between men and women is I don't think it's physically possible for men to truly understand the intensity of the day to day. Things that women experience that cause women to think this way and to have that just natural fear. Because of forever in life of time in humanity, it has always been that men have been doing this. And I get it. For men who aren't, it's difficult to understand and grasp that. And it is kind of offensive because you're like, I would never. But it's it's not saying that I'm saying you would never, but out here. In living life as a woman, I there is no like there's so many things that make it to where I can't fully trust that. You know what I mean? So Shaun: Mm-hmm. Absolutely. Jen: I I hear what you're saying and I get what you're saying. Yeah, it's it seems unfair to say and categorize that all men are inherently dangerous. But if we're going off of statistically, if we're going off of what you as a person have experienced, That might be your initial reaction is that yes, all men are dangerous because it could have been their father or their best friend or their, you know, whatever. Shaun: Mm-hmm. Jen: So like I feel like it's easy, not easy. It's I I just see your side of being like, well, that's I don't agree with that, because not all men are are inherently that way. But I I think it's I challenge you to think of it. more from a female perspective when that's just every single day it's something every single day. Shaun: And I can I can absolutely see that. I can one hundred percent understand that thought process that happens because of the way that like females are treated so frequently and how Jen: Mm-hmm. Shaun: they are like viewed and how they are harassed and things of that nature. I absolutely can see that side of it. I think that I gosh, I don't even want to say that. Jen: Say it anyways. Shaun: I feel I feel I feel like there's a part of me that can kind of relate to it. And the the reason why I say that, and this is a completely different type of a situation. I'm not trying to change the mark on the conversation or anything, but I feel like I can kind of understand what that's like because I am a black man that grew Jen: Mm-hmm. Shaun: up in extremely rural East Texas. And Jen: Yeah, a hundred percent. Shaun: so many people. that you see over there are extremely prejudiced and racist. And it's one of those situations to where like you're always on high alert. Like you're always Jen: Yeah. Shaun: like watching like what's going on, what's happening. So much to it's still ingrained in me. I mentioned it a couple of episodes ago. Like I I anytime I go into a room, into a building, especially one that I don't know, I'm constantly scanning. I'm scanning to see if there are any threats. I'm scanning to see if they're like what the exits are, if something does pop off. How do we get out of here? How do we protect ourselves so Jen: Mm-hmm. Shaun: that everything is okay? And I think that that part of me can understand what she's saying in that situation. Where I struggle with it is knowing, and you're you're absolutely right, Jen. I think it's like knowing who I am as a person and how I was raised and how I was raised by my mom and my grandma to respect women. Jen: Mm-hmm. Shaun: And to make sure that I do everything Jen: Yeah. Shaun: possible to make sure that I am helping people as much as I possibly can. Jen: A safe space. Yeah. Shaun: Yeah, safe space. Like that it it hurts to hear that, especially a black woman saying that men are inherently dangerous. That hurts so much. And I think what also kind of double down on it is what Barry was starting to talk about at the end of the video when she got there and she was talking about how like a kick dog or Barry: Yeah, kickdog like barks or squeals or squeals. Yeah. Yeah. Shaun: I forgot the way that she worded it. Yeah, the kick dog barks, yeah. And if I didn't kick you, you're not gonna make noise. Well you did kick me, and if you're saying that I'm the person that's out here Yeah. Barry: Because you included me as a man and the general, Jen: Mm. Barry: all encompassing general statement that all men are inherently dangerous. So it's Shaun: Yeah. Exactly. Barry: hard not to be kicked when you literally say it's all. There's no exception to the rule. I get that. Shaun: It's yeah. Jen: Mm. Yeah. No, I do agree with that too. Like I don't Shaun: So like that like yeah, like I Jen: I didn't agree with what she was saying within that analogy. Shaun: Yeah. I I one hundred percent agree with like everything that she's saying about how the way women are raised and how they're told, like specific things not to do, how to like almost kind of present prevent themselves from being in that type of a situation. There's nothing that you can do for that. Like it's Barry: from being the victim from what happened to them. Yeah. Jen: Yeah. I mean, it's honestly kind of ironic and comical because if you think about like what do you what do you get told when you're about to go on a hike and there might be bears in the woods? take some bear spray, take a weapon, Shaun: Yes. Jen: wear this, make sure you're covered, make sure you have this. And it's literally the same conversation Shaun: Make yourself big and loud. Jen: for women going outside. Shaun: Yeah. Jen: are you going somewhere by yourself? Make sure you're dressed, you're covered up completely, you're not drawing Shaun: Have your taser. Jen: attention in any way, take your taser, take your pepper spray. Like you're literally telling women to walk outside fully equipped as if you were going on a hike and being in in a situation where you might encounter a bear. And how would you keep yourself away from the bear? Keep your scent hidden, keep your pepper spray or your bear spray on you, keep your weapons like it's just the irony in it is there. Shaun: Yeah. And it I I think it's one of those things where it's like I I can see why so many women are saying the bear, because you haven't been around a bear. You've never been around a bear in the wild and Jen: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Shaun: experienced like what a bear can do, how big a bear actually is, and what they're capable of. When you see a real bear in the wild, they are massive. Yeah. Even it not slow, especially like even the little cubs. Jen: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Barry: Yeah, they're ginormous for real. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Coming at you. They are. And they ain't slow either. No, they can run faster than Jen: Mm-hmm. Yeah. No. Barry: you more times Jen: Yeah. Shaun: Yes, and they are much stronger than you in every way, shape, and form. Barry: than not. very much. Yeah. Jen: for sure. Yeah. Shaun: So I think that like part of it is like they haven't experienced something like that. So what they know is that there are so many men Jen: Yeah. Shaun: that are dangerous, and men should 1000% be held accountable. If you're out here and you're messing with women and you're doing things that you shouldn't do, things that they don't like, things that they don't appreciate, and you are harassing them, assaulting them, anything of that nature, you should absolutely be held accountable for that. Barry: 100 % Yup Shaun: There's no excuse for it. Barry: Nope Shaun: It's just don't put every man in that same type of a conversation. Those were the only issues that I had with what she said. Absolutely agree with everything else. It's just like when you encompass every single one of us, it is. And that's Barry: It's hard to speak in generalities like that. Yeah. Jen: No, a hundred percent. Shaun: that also goes to the same conversation of like where you you hear it all the time like, why are there no good men in the world? Because of conversations like that. If we're always seeing like a threat or like a creep or something like that. So yeah, I'm not gonna approach you. I'm not gonna say anything to you. Because what if you take that in the wrong way and all of a sudden, like I've done something that I shouldn't have done? So yeah, there are gonna be all of these guys that come up to you and like, all men are dogs and they cheat and they do all this, because those are the ones that are out here trying to get whatever they want and do whatever they want to do. And it it's tough to To create that type of a separation that's there. Jen: Mm-hmm. Shaun: And absolutely get that. Exactly. So Barry: especially if people are encompassing all men into it. Shaun: I don't know. It's just Jen: Yeah. I definitely think it's challenging, especially when you think of it like that, like in the dating world or the dating pool nowadays, like the fear of walking up to and just approaching and then them maybe feeling like I was being a creeper or something like that, and then it turning into something it very much wasn't. And I I can understand the the sentiment behind that, but I just don't think that that's actually what's happening out there. for the majority. Like I don't th I think it's a crutch to fight the stigma that is that. And it's weaponized in a way that is just kind of diminishing what women feel and experience. I really don't think most men are going out and being genuinely kind to hum like other women and trying to just generally be nice and get to know somebody in a nice, cordial way. And women are being like, actually I think you're harassing me. Let me ruin your life really quick. Like I just Barry: Is it on? I feel like that's a two way street. Jen: From my perspective, I think it that is just used to diminish. Barry: And I don't know, because I'm not out here Shaun: Yeah. Barry: in these streets. So but I feel like there will be equal on both sides, bro. Jen: So I'm not either, so I don't know. Shaun: Yeah. Barry: I don't know. I feel like there's not and I'm not again, I don't think it's like to say that one side is right. But I feel like it probably occurs on both sides. Shaun: absolutely. Jen: For sure. There's always it's just like everything else in the world, there are two sides to every coin. There are bad on both Shaun: Yeah. Jen: sides. There are women that do take advantage of this type of movement or anything like that. And they do Shaun: Uh-huh. Jen: go over the top or beyond just because they want to be ugly and rude and take advantage of the situation. There are men that, you know, it's there's bad on both sides. Shaun: Yeah. Jen: I just think that that sentiment specifically is used a little too often in a way to like. combat or diminish women saying things like that. Barry: No, and I just, I guess I always look at it we all go through shit that we don't want to go through. And I Jen: For sure. Shaun: yeah. Barry: don't think that what you're saying is invalid because there are a lot of men out there that will take advantage of people, females specifically. And Shaun: Absolutely, yeah. Barry: so I'm not trying to belittle that in any way, but I do think it doesn't, or it's hard to like not feel kicked when you do encompass all people. Jen: No, a hundred percent. A hundred percent. It's Shaun: Yeah. Barry: And that's why I always try and say, like, if I say a statement like that, it's like, no, I don't want to say that that's true for all of those people. Because I know a lot of good dudes and I know that there's a handful of dudes that like would do questionable things. That's what I'm saying. So I see both sides of it, but it is Jen: Yeah. And I one hundred percent get that. Yeah. Questionable. It's questionable. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Shaun: And yeah. I know some dudes that are pieces of shit. Yes. Yeah. Barry: like and I don't want to make it seem like I don't see where she's because when I texted it to I was like, I really do agree with her for most of that. But. Jen: Mm-hmm. Barry: I don't know, man. People are... Shaun: And I Jen: Yeah. Shaun: do too. I want to make that clear. I do Jen: I mean it's difficult. Shaun: too. I agree with the majority of what she's saying. It's just really those two Barry: Yeah, I could see it. Shaun: pieces that really don't sit well with me. Just because Barry: Yeah. Shaun: it it it feels like you're almost intentionally kicking other people just to make a point. Barry: point. Jen: Yeah. And I and honestly, if I'm coming Shaun: And I mean, that's fine, that's fair. Jen: and being just completely honest of my thoughts and opinions of it, I think that is the purpose. I think that was her point is make it so egregious, make it so blunt and hard hitting so that it slaps people in the face and is like, hello, like this is how bad it is. Can we like acknowledge it and you know, treat it as a situation that we should truly look at changing the way we handle these things? Barry: Yes. Jen: Hello, like I think she meant it in that way of like, I'm gonna say this because at this point, s going the normal route or saying that it's not all men, like that has gotten us to where we are now, which is one in four women. So, like at one at what point, what do we have to do? What do we have to say to make it a bigger, more at the forefront awareness for men that it is bad? And yes, it's not all men, but we said that. And you still have like nothing has changed for us. If anything, it's gotten worse, especially with the digital age. So like I think that was our point is make it egregious, make it ridiculous, because maybe they'll listen, maybe it'll cause enough stir, cause enough conversation that it'll trigger some people to like actually look into it or actually do something about it. Is my thought. Shaun: Yeah, and I can see that thought. Like I can see that thought to where, like, how can we get as much attention on this as possible? The the problem with that is the people that are gonna do shitty stuff are still gonna do shitty stuff. Like bad Jen: Hundred percent. Shaun: people are still going to be bad people. Yeah, it's the people Barry: They don't care what said in that video. That doesn't even if Jen: Hundred percent. Barry: they did kick them. They're not going to be like, well, I don't she was talking about me. So they're gonna be like, what? Shaun: Yeah. Barry: Screw hers. She don't know what she's talking about. And they're gonna keep being the way they are. Jen: Yeah, but it Shaun: Yeah. Jen: but it also challenged you guys to be a little bit more reflective. You don't think so? Barry: Well, that's because we are emotionally intelligent guys who can Shaun: Yeah, I think that yeah. Barry: hold a mirror to ourselves and be like, I could see where she's coming from, it is, I get where I get both sides of it. That's all I can say. Shaun: Yeah, and and I absolutely get that. Like I don't I wouldn't necessarily think that it made me more reflective. I think that it it shines a light on the fact that social media is used, and I'm I am I am guilty of doing this myself. I will say that right now. Barry: people are Shaun: So don't social media is used as kind of a vehicle to complain about things or to talk about things in a way that pulls in. different pieces of attention. Jen: Mm-hmm. Shaun: The problem with that is that you're not getting in front of the people that it actually needs to get in front of. You're getting in front of people Barry: who can actually and yeah. Shaun: influence change. Yeah. It needs to get in front of people that can actually influence change. If that's the type of conversation that you want to have, this is where, and people are going to hate me for saying this, you have to, Barry: Say it. Shaun: you have to like vote. You have to get out there and talk Barry: Say it again. Jen: Mm-hmm. Shaun: to your representatives and talk to your senators and Your local enforcement, it's not all about the federal level either. You have to get out there and your local government, yes, like all of that matters Jen: No, a hundred percent. Mm-hmm. For sure. Barry: Local politics, man. Shaun: because all of these things that happen are going to continue to happen until those people are held accountable. So Jen: Mm-hmm. Shaun: it's I can absolutely see why she's saying those types of things. And Jen, I I completely agree that this probably was a tactic to how can we get as much attention on this as possible. Jen: Mm-hmm. Shaun: The problem in this case is that it's not going to get the type of attention that it needs from the people that can actually influence the change. Like if you, if you do this and say, like, Jen: Mm. Shaun: hey, like this is what my opinion is, let's all go and have this protest or have this conversation or let's go have a conversation so that we can maybe introduce a bill that goes into act or something to happen Jen: Mm-hmm. Shaun: to where it passes, to where we can start to protect those people that are becoming victims of this. absolutely down for that because that could actually influence change that happens. But saying it and then just kind of I don't know, it it just feels Barry: Getting them clicks, Jen: Don't know, but I kind of disagree. Shaun: yeah, it feels clicky. Jen: I kind of disagree just in the fact that, well, one, yes, I agree it is clicky. I think 92.5% of everything that is on any social media, it is all about sensationalizing it, making it clickable, making it like repeatable, easy, quick, fast, hard lines, not full stories, not research, not anything. It is just sensationalize this clip. for 30 seconds and get as many likes and stuff. But I also think it's it's a a problem and a a good thing as well. Like it has both sides to that because yes, you do have the risk in all of that that comes with it of fake news and repeating things that weren't well researched and all of that. And I I agree with what you're saying that that is not the conversation that's going to make the change. But I also would challenge that to say Many of those together though will make the change because it draws attention and it does start the conversation in those areas that co that things are changed. I think when people stay silent and no one talks about it, our constituents are all the people, whatever, well, they're not talking about it. It's not an issue with them. So why would I? And social media has brought in this new way of bringing issues to people and making more movements and things like that, connecting more people because of clips like that. Like, yes, that clip is not the conversation that was going to make a change, but it was that one plus this one plus this one plus this one plus this one that makes enough noise that makes people say, Okay, well w how clearly people are talking about it. Clearly it's an issue. How do we get it to the floor of a government or to these people? I feel like that's just It's like the kindling of a fire. Like you have to have all of those little pieces there. So I still I still see it as a piece of a puzzle. Like, yes, that's not the conversation that is going to change a law, but it might just be something that sparks a conversation with somebody else that sparks a conversation with somebody else that causes somebody else to think that, you know what I mean? So I see it differently. Shaun: I mean it it's tough because I hope that that would happen. Like I hope that it would spark that conversation would happen. It's Jen: Yeah. I mean you always want to hope, but yeah. Shaun: just that I don't know, there have been so many things that have been done that way that just fall by the wayside. Like Jen: Mm-hmm. for sure. Shaun: it it starts on social media. There's tens upon tens of thousands of videos that have been reposted and reshared and people like doing the same stuff. Yeah, and it's just gone. Jen: And then it's gone in thirty days. Yeah. Yeah. For sure. Shaun: So it's like, yeah, I mean, like hopefully something Barry: Another trend. Shaun: would, yeah, like so hopefully something Jen: Mm. Shaun: would happen from it. But yeah, that's a that's a great word for it. It seems like these videos are kind of more of like, hey, this is the trend Barry: Trendy, bro. Shaun: right now, and then it goes away and you'll never hear about it again. It's like how Jen: Hundred percent. Shaun: do you how do you have a conversation that really sticks? How do you have a conversation Jen: Mm-hmm. Shaun: where it's taken in front of the people who can do something about it to make sure that change like real change does happen and those people are held accountable for the things that they're doing? Because evil people that do evil things should be held accountable Jen: Mm-hmm, mm-hmm. Shaun: for the evil things that they do. Barry: Hundo. Jen: First for sure. Shaun: At every single level, it I don't care who Barry: Any level. Shaun: you are. Man, Jen: Mm-hmm. Shaun: woman, child, elderly person, race, ethnicity. I don't care who you are. Like if you're doing evil things, you should be held accountable for the evil things that you do. Jen: Mm-hmm. Shaun: So I d I don't know. I just I just don't know how Barry: We can all agree on that. Shaun: we can't all agree on that, yes. Jen: Mm-hmm. That is true. Shaun: I just I just don't know how the change actually occurs, like what happens from here. Barry: Bro, I feel like Jen: I mean Barry: that's just the way of the world, though. It's unfortunate to feel that way. There really is no change that's Jen: it is. There's no perfect answer. Yeah. Shaun: Yeah. Barry: going to be enacted as much Shaun: Yeah. Barry: as we can sit here and debate it. And it should because people shouldn't have to live like that. Females, black people, Shaun: Yeah, no one should have to live by that. Barry: anybody shouldn't. Everybody like true equality, everybody should feel the same way in this world. But we don't have that. All of them, Muslims, all of them, bro, Shaun: Look at Hispanic people nowadays. Like Hispanic people are always looking over their shoulders now because Jen: Yeah. Barry: like Shaun: yeah. Barry: That's what saying. Like it's, it is a, it is a very sad that we don't have true equality. Like Jen: Mm-hmm. Barry: as much as we want to debate being in the woods with a bear or Jen: And I feel like Barry: a man, but Shaun: Yeah. Barry: like to your point, bro, sex, trans, Muslim, African-American, Mexican, Hispanic, whatever, you know, brown people like nobody should feel less than. And I don't think that that is the case for a Jen: Mm-hmm. Barry: lot of people outside of people like me. And I could say that as that person. And I Jen: Yeah. Right. Shaun: Ha Barry: like that's OK. I could acknowledge that. I have a very, Jen: Yeah. Barry: very much the leg up on most people in this world because of how I was born. Shaun: Yeah. Barry: And I don't wish that was that way. I don't. Jen: Yeah. Shaun: Yeah. I mean, I I think that it's just Barry: By any means. Shaun: kind of like a part of like it's who we are as a country. Like it's how we were built. Women were less than, people of color were less than. Jen: Think like that's kind of how we are as a humanity. Like that's I feel like pessimistic people say, Shaun: Fine. Jen: like, well, we're humans, like we're always gonna fight, we're always gonna argue, or there always be war. And it's a hundred percent true. Like there will always be some aspect of somebody feeling lesser than there is no utopia, but exactly like it can be so much better than what it is. And I think lying on that is awful. Yeah. Barry: Those are all things that are taught. That's not truth. Those are taught ideals. That's Shaun: Yeah. It doesn't have to. Barry: sad because those ideals can disappear, but we don't let them. We don't let them as a people. Shaun: Well, and that's what I'm saying. Like, we we're a country that is built honestly upon and I this is another thing. I don't I don't want this to get taken and say that I'm disrespecting the troops or anything. Like I have military people in my family. I I don't have a problem with anything. But like it's kind of how we were started as a country. Like we're a country that's founded upon ideals that men are created equal, but that's absolutely not the case. Like Jen: Mm-hmm. Shaun: Like I just said, like all of these different people are not seen in the same light as Barry not but as as Jen: Mm-hmm. Shaun: white males, they are seen in a different light than essentially everyone else in this country. It doesn't matter what your color, your your sexual preference or your orientation or anything like that, what it may be. It's Barry: It shouldn't. It should not. Shaun: just different. But it's like we we talk about these things and like have like, we're gonna have a revolution. We're gonna do things differently. Barry: Nothing changes. It doesn't, bro. Shaun: Where when? Like what how is Jen: Mm-hmm. Shaun: it different? How is this any how is this any different than what it was fifty years ago or seventy years ago? Like how's it any different? Barry: Yo, speaking of that Shaun, crazy thing. I saw this thing on social media, but it was like crazy things in history happen almost like every 80 years and guess when to 2026 is falls in one of those 80 year range windows, bro. Maybe a revolution will happen, bro. Jen: Mm-hmm. I did see that. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Shaun: Yeah. I mean, never know. And this is what I'm saying. I I think that we are definitely on the brink of something like that. Like there's definitely something that like big that's happening. Barry: Something big's like, we there. Mm-hmm. Shaun: Like, will it be humanity or will it be us versus machine? Like what what's actually happening there? Barry: Terminator's coming alive, bruh. Jen: Yeah. Shaun: Yeah. Like we like all of our lives live on the web, whether if you volunteered it or not, it is there. And the fact that AI is taking over. Jen: Mm-hmm. Barry: Majority people's lives can be found on yeah Shaun: so much. Jen: Yeah. Shaun: Who knows? Like who who knows what's gonna happen? Yeah. So I don't know. Barry: Crazy, it's concerning. But again, what am I gonna do besides enjoy my life? I'm not gonna be John Connor out here, right? Shaun: And this is where I go back to should I just drain my accounts? Jen: Sh I was about to say Shaun's about to take his money out of those accounts. He's going on vacation. Mm-hmm. Shaun: Just drain my accounts and enjoy life. Yeah. So Barry: Ain't nobody gonna be trying to start a revolution, trying to enjoy it. Shaun: yeah. I don't know. I don't know like where we go from here. I I honestly do Barry: I don't know bro. Shaun: wholeheartedly hope that change does happen because no woman should ever have to feel that way. Ever. Barry: I agree. And that's especially as a father of two daughters. I Shaun: Absolutely. Jen: Yeah. Barry: might kill somebody if I like was told that I might kill somebody. Shaun: I would. Like I I have no problem saying that. Jen: just know I will. Shaun: Yeah, just know. Yeah, so I don't know. I don't I don't know where we go from here. But Barry: It'll happen. It is, bro. I get it. It's crazy. Shaun: and never mind. I was about to go on to a whole another tangent. I Jen: Go w go with it. Shaun: was about to say, like, just the automatic assumption that a man wants to have sex with you if you're trapped in the wood or if you're stuck in the woods, that's another one that's just kind of like, yeah, like you don't Barry: She did go there. She didn't go there. Shaun: have to throw that, you don't have to throw the cat. Like, I'm trying to figure out how to get out Barry: Nobody's asking. Shaun: of the woods too. Jen: Ha ha ha. Shaun: Like I'm not even thinking about you in that way. I'm just like, how do we survive? How do we get out of these woods that we're in right now? So I yeah, I don't know. Barry: Survival mode. Shaun: But I again, the female perspective of it, Barry: Cause we're good guys. Shaun: the things that they see, the things that they go through, the things that they witness, the the stories that they hear from their friends and their family members and all of that. I can absolutely see how that's like, okay, like, yeah, the only way I'm gonna get out of is if I throw this at this guy. So that hopefully he doesn't do anything crazy to me. So don't know. I don't I don't there's not a right answer, honestly. There's not. Barry: There isn't. Jen: Mm-hmm. Shaun: So I'm I Barry: No. Shaun: don't know where we go from here. Barry: Speaking of right answers. Shaun: Yeah. Barry: Don't you have a am I that you know what hole Shaun: I do have one. this one. I mean, we'll see what y'all think about this one, but let me pull it up. Jen: Hold on, let me take my earrings out. Get ready to fight. Barry: she's getting ready. Shaun: It's nothing like that. Barry: you think until these opinions come out. Jen: We we joke, but Shaun: All right. Jen: yeah. We all love each other Shaun: I I don't think it's gonna be that bad. Jen: at the end of the day, everyone. Barry: Yeah, thanks. Shaun: Absolutely everyone. All right. So Jen: Mm-hmm. Shaun: am I the asshole for leaving during my gosh, every single episode. Barry: out here punching the armor her her boom on she's wanting to punch it Shaun: She's already getting started. All Jen: Ha ha Shaun: right. Am I the asshole for leaving during my wife's labor? my wife went Jen: yes. Sorry. Shaun: into labor around six PM on Sunday. We were expecting twins. It quickly turns into a very painful process. She kept cutting off the blood pressure in my hand when she kept squeezing it and nearly sprained and nearly sprayed my Barry: Man up bro. Man up. Jen: Get the fuck over, yeah. Shaun: shirt with vomit. Around 3 30 AM my dad Barry: Man up. Shaun: calls. I work for my dad's company and we had a presentation for clients Monday morning that I had to get ready for. My dad heard Jen: You Shaun: my wife was in labor, but told me he needed me on this presentation. He said there was nothing I could do for To help my wife and delivery was seeing the baby come out was overrated and people don't prepare you for the gore. Barry: Yo, the dad's Jen: Your dad's Barry: crazy for that one. Your dad's crazy for that one. Jen: the issue. Your dad's the issue. Shaun: He said he said he needed me to rest up and make myself presentable for the presentation. My wife's labor Barry: Yo. Shaun: was progressing very slowly, and we were all certain she would need forceps or assistance to deliver the babies. I realized that I couldn't help her here and my dad was counting on me, so I told her I needed Jen: Mm. Shaun: to leave. She started screaming at me so loudly that a few nurses rushed over to our room. I ended up doing the presentation with the clients and things went well. I leave the office and see a text on my phone that said my wife delivered an hour ago around 1030 AM and they had to use forceps. I would have missed the meeting had I stayed, and my dad has given me everything he could possibly give me in life, so I didn't want to let him down. Am I the asshole? I Barry: Yes. Jen: Yes. Shaun: had responsibilities to take care of while my wife is still Jen: Your family. Shaun: screaming at me, saying Barry: now bro. Shaun: that she was alone when they destroyed her body. I'm the only one who works and her mom herself said that she was emotional and overreacting. My wife even Jen: Absolutely not. Shaun: went as far to say as her family would disown her if she were to if she were the first of them to divorce, but that she doesn't consider me her husband right now. Jen: Mm. Barry: Whoa, that's a lot to unpack there, bro. Jen: Mm-hmm. Shaun: There is. Barry: Yes, he is the asshole. I hate to say that. Jen: But mm mm, a hundred percent. And your father is the issue. Barry: And that his father is a big part of that problem. Jen: Your wife is literally twins, Barry: er, yo, twins too? Shaun: So far. Jen: already a Shaun: Yeah. Jen: high risk pregnancy. She Barry: very high risk. Jen: yes, we live in a wonderful modern age with wonderful modern medicine. The mortality rate of women giving birth, she's literally going into something where she could die, bringing new life into this world, and you're not there with her for a presentation at work that could have been done by anybody else in that building. Barry: No, it could only have been him. It could only have been him. Jen: You're not that special at that work. Don't lie. No, you are not that special. But you are the only father to Shaun: That's company. Jen: those children and you are the only husband to that wife. Absolutely not. Barry: Yeah, not a good look, sir. Jen: Mm mm. Mm-mm. That's all I got to say about that. Barry: But it sounded like, sounds like the husband, the guy who wrote in. Shaun: Mm-hmm. Barry: He didn't have much of a spine to his dad. It sounds like his dad has kind of enabled him to be who he is. Shaun: I know about that. Jen: No, it's definitely sounds like he has exactly. Exactly. You're a grown man. Barry: You can't tell your dad no because he's given you everything you have. Like I get y'all me white privilege I get like Shaun: Yeah. Barry: it helps to have those connections but at the same time when you're having children you have to be a man and say dad I need to be a father to my two children and a husband Jen: A a father and a husband. Yeah. Barry: to my wife right now. Jen: Yeah. Barry: I appreciate everything that you've done for me up until this moment, but this is Jen: Mm-hmm. Barry: the moment where I have to tell you as a man that I'm choosing my family over work, which I don't know. I've always seen it that way. Like, yo, the presentation, somebody Jen: Over a presentation that we can reschedule if it's that big. Barry: else could do it or I can come in on Tuesday if it's really that Jen: Yeah. Barry: necessary that I have to be the one to do it. Data Shaun: Yeah. Barry: is data, bro. Anybody could shoot data off of a day in PowerPoint. Come on. What Shaun: Yeah. Jen: Yeah. Barry: are we? What are we really saying here? Jen: Mm-hmm. Yeah. I think it's Shaun: What about his wife's mom? Jen: his wife's mom. Barry: She's trippin'. Jen: I th I Shaun: Mm. Jen: agree. And it sounds like they this is being very judgmental and very I am filling gaps. I am telling stories in my head. Barry: Amen. Jen: But it sounds like they grew up both in very traditional families where the men do the work and the women have the babies and they stay home. Barry: Mmm. Yeah, the women do what they do. Jen: And that is Clearly playing into this situation too, because he mentioned it in his article in, well, I work. I'm the only one that works and provides for the family. And blah blah blah. Like, why would you what does that have to do with you not being there for your you working and being the sole provider Barry: Trying to justify it. Jen: has nothing to do with you not showing up for your wife and for your kids that are being born. So it's I th I yeah. Barry: But again, is this a societal problem? Because it is a thing that men do feel a lot. Like I hear a lot of professional Jen: Yes. Barry: athletes that choose, Shaun: Full of pressure, yeah. Barry: they play their games versus going to their child's birth. Jen: To go to the game and mm hmm. Shaun: Yeah. Like the Superbow. I've I've seen that question. Like would you go to the Super Bowl or would you like go to your child's birth? Jen: Mm-hmm. Yeah. Barry: I did see the Super Bowl with you. Yeah, if you're playing in the Super Bowl, would you miss your child's birth to play in the game? Or would you choose your child? I would choose my child. But that's just I don't know. That's just how I've always approached Shaun: Yeah. I think it's situational. Barry: being a father is that felt like it was Barbara Walters that said this. She said she was getting older and the only thing she wished she could go back was and have more time with her kids. Money comes and goes, jobs come and go. Time is invaluable. It is priceless. And to be there for the birth of your children, to me, that's worth more than any amount of money. It's worth more than anything anybody could ever give me to get to where I got to in my life to that point. But that's just me the way I see it. So it would have never even been a question. Like, OK, dad, if I'm not going to be there, so if you go fire me, fire me. But Shaun: Yeah. Barry: whatever. I don't know. I don't know. To me, he is the asshole. Shaun: Yeah. I I I can see both sides of it. Yeah. Barry: But I do see that there are, to Jen's point, traditional values that would insinuate you should do the other. Jen: Seem like they're playing a very big yeah, which is why her mom Shaun: Yeah. Jen: said, she's overreacting as well. Because it they Barry: She probably did. Shaun: Yeah. Jen: she also said, like, she would he would be or she would be disowned from their family if they got divorced or something like that. But she said, Yeah, so clearly they don't believe in divorce. It seems like a lot of traditional, yeah. And that's just what the mom's used to, too. Shaun: She would, yeah. Barry: So yeah, living an unhappy life, living in an unhappy marriage, that's better than looking bad to the neighbors. Jen: So I'm sure she that's just what she plays into because that's what she's lived with, yeah. Barry: Keeping up with the Joneses bro. Mm-hmm. Shaun: Yeah. Barry: Nah bro, your life is your life. F everyone else man. I don't care what people think. Shaun: True. All right. Cool. I won't play my devil's advocate then. I won't do it. Barry: That was me. That's just me though. No play it, We always love it. But we be Jen: Ha ha. Barry: a Jen, bro, we are that so play it. Say it. Shaun: Okay, so I will Okay. I can I can see his side of it as well, though, because here's the thing. Like it it is his dad, and he mentions that his dad has given him everything that he he has in life. I can hold on, hold on. Hold on. Jen: Awesome. He's a parent. Cool. Good job. Barry: Great. You have a great father. Sounds like good for you, sir. Shaun: I think that it could have been handled differently. I think that Barry: Yeah, communicate up front. Yo, my wife's going into labor on this day. Don't schedule any presentations on this day, dad. Father. Shaun: Hold on. I can see his side of it because Barry, you were just talking about it. Societal pressures. Like he there's Barry: It is. Shaun: probably some of it in there. Like I don't I don't know his dad. He doesn't really say too much about his dad. But if his dad does fire him, Jen: Feel like he talked more about his dad than his wife. Barry: He says, hey yo, labor's nothing. Labor's nothing, that's what his dad said. Shaun: but no, he didn't really. But hold on. Let me get this out. If he Jen: Yeah. Well my dad said and it's really important to him this is a really important meeting. Barry: She's gonna be okay. It's slow. Shaun: if he were to lose his job. And he is the only one that is bringing in money and they're having twins. I can see the panic that would probably go on in his mind. I can understand that aspect of it because he's like, okay, how do I do this to make sure that I can appease both sides of it? Is probably, and again, I'm filling in gaps, I'm telling myself stories here. He's probably trying to figure Barry: That's his first problem. That's his first problem. Shaun: out how to do both at the same time. How can I be there for my dad? Make sure that we land this client. And do everything that we need to do so that I keep my job and everything is good. I can take care of this family that we're having. But also at the same time, how can I support my wife? He thinks to himself, because his dad has told him, that there's nothing that you can really do for your wife right there. I don't agree with that. Again, I don't have I don't have children. As someone who does not have children, Barry: I'm gonna say that's a bad statement. That's an incorrect and false statement. But you still get it shot. You still get it. Shaun: I believe that while you can't physically do anything for your wife in that situation, you can one hundred percent be an emotional support Barry: emotionally support your mentally support your spouse. Shaun: for your partner, your wife in that situation. Barry: Yeah, and man up to complain about your hand getting squeezed. Man up, bro. Come on. What are we talking about? Shaun: Yeah, that's just that's just ridiculous. I don't know why you would even put that in the story. That's just that's ridiculous. But yeah, so yeah. Barry: He's sprain my hand. Bro, she's sprain your hand. She's sprain your hand. Get over it. Shaun: I I can see where he would be conflicted in that type of a situation because he won he wants to show that loyalty to his dad, who has helped Barry: I mean, I get that. Shaun: him out his entire life. I I can understand that. But at the same time, yeah, I don't and again, I'm just playing devil's advocate here. Jen: I don't. I don't. Barry: I get it, but I don't agree with that thought process. I know. Shaun: I don't think that that was the right decision to make. But if they were going to make that decision, that should have been a conversation ahead of time. And as if Barry: 100%. Shaun: it if his wife she had the final say so. If she was like, Hey, Barry: She should have. Shaun: I know that we talked about it and we discussed it and you were gonna go. I'm gonna be here with my mom and your mom and we'll do all of this and then we'll connect afterwards. I changed my mind. I want you here. He should drop everything and be there. That is what Jen: Immediately. Barry: Thanks. Shaun: I think it should be. But again, I can I can see where he could have been conflicted in that situation. Jen: I don't. That's so nice of you. That's so nice of you to try and see his perspective. No. No, there's not. Because logically, okay, cool. One, your boss is your Barry: I agree with Shaun. He could have been... No, he could have been... There is conflicting. There is. There is confliction in it. No, I... There is conflicting... Shaun: I don't. Yeah. Jen: dad. Do you really think your dad's gonna fire you? Probably not. Probably not. Cause it Barry: I don't know, bro. Shaun: you Jen: sounds like dad is pushing and platforming his son to be some sort of partner, some sort of something big in his company to probably leave his legacy with his son. Again, Barry: That's a story, Jen. We don't know that. Jen: it is, I'm feeling gaps. But but it sounds like his dad, no, it sounds like his dad is putting a lot of bank into him doing something, Shaun: Yeah. Barry: I'm making this story the worst. Is that what a fire? What are we talking about? Jen: but also it sounds like he's some sort of he has an education, he has some sort of degree, he has some sort of something. You can go out and get Barry: Maybe? Maybe th- Shaun: He sounds like he's higher up in the company. Jen: another job. You can still provide for your family without. First of all, what what was the year that this was submitted? First of all. Barry: I don't know bro at today's job market I don't know if he could just go out and get another job Jen. If this was any kind of recent this job market Shaun: Yeah, this job market is rough right now. Barry: ain't just like yo you get another job if you want one. I'm just saying if we we've thrown out stories, Jen: But Barry: that's my story. This ain't a job market to be Jen: No. Barry: without a job. Jen: Mm mm. He could have rescheduled. He why did we why did we schedule a giant meeting around anywhere close to your wife's final trimester or fi wife's final month? Yeah. Shaun: Especially with two brand new twins. She Barry: Need to have. That's what I'm saying. Like that should have been discussed. So it sounds like there were some lack of discussion before Shaun: Yeah. Barry: they got to this, because I mean, I granted twins can come premature unexpectedly. Shaun: Yeah. Jen: Mm-hmm. Barry: We don't know necessarily how the progression of her labor started if it was and if this Jen: Mm. Early or not, yeah. Shaun: Other than it being slowly, yeah. Barry: is their first two children, like even more heightened. Jen: Mm-hmm. Barry: for sure, but Jen: Yeah. Barry: yes, to Shaun's point, these all should have been conversations that were had and discussed plan A, plan B, Jen: Yeah. And had backup plans for. Yeah. Barry: plan C of with, what if, what if, what if. It could have eliminated a lot of this. Yes. Now you're just justifying, you know that you're wrong at that point. Yeah. Now. Jen: Yeah. And for the excuse to be, my dad's giving me so much in my life. I needed to be there for him. Are you kidding me? Yeah. He's being a parent, you mean? That's the thing like sometimes that I get really like gross about with parents and kids. I don't Barry: But that is a generational thing though, Jen. That is a generational difference. Shaun: the same time though, like he can now say the same thing Barry: Those boomers don't get it, bro. Shaun: for his kids. He can say, Hey, I've done everything that I could to try and give you everything possible in life. Yes, I'm I missed your birth, but I've done everything that I could. Jen: Great. You were being a parent. You had a child. You provided for Barry: But again, bro. Nah bro, I'm gonna be there for the moments. The moments are priceless. Jen: your family. Like the I don't know. I get I don't know. Shaun: Kids aren't gonna remember that moment. I think it's the wife you have to worry about in that situation. Barry: I remember. I remember the birth. It's funny you talk about leaving at our, when our youngest was born. We, was going slow and the doctor was like, if y'all want to go eat, go eat. Well, we were in South Austin and the closest thing was like 20 minutes away and we had a beer and Becca called. She was like, where y'all at? We were like 20 Jen: Mm. Barry: minutes away drinking a beer. was like, y'all need to get back. It's funny you say that like he left, but we left because we were instructed that we could and I still made it back. I was there for the birth of both of my daughters. Jen: There you go. Shaun: man. Barry: Supporting. Squeeze my hand, Becca. You'll break it. I'll take that pain. Shaun: Yeah. For the record, he is the Barry: But no, now he's the a-hole. Shaun: asshole. I do agree. Jen: For sure. Shaun: I think he should have there should have been which I would say 99.9% Barry: No, it should have been a lot of conversations. Shaun: of every breakdown in every situation is due to communication in some way, form, or fact. Yeah. So yeah. So I I think that that's kind of Barry: It's a lack of communication. 100%. Yeah, you got to be prepared. Jen: Yeah. Yeah. Communication or preparation. Shaun: like the issue at hand here, but In this case, you missed it. You made your choice. Like I don't know how you it it's I Barry: Deal with it bro, live with them consequences. Shaun: I feel like if the wife, if she's staying in the marriage just due to the fact of her family, that's also not a good decision either. But I mean, hey, I mean, you're an adult. Many people do it, yes. But I mean, if you're if you're telling him like I Barry: Yo, it's not gonna be promising. No. Jen: yeah. Yep. Many people do it. Yeah. Many people do it. Especially if you've brought been brought up in that. Shaun: don't see you as my husband right now, what Jen: Yeah. Shaun: does that spur into? Barry: She gonna be out here running wild, bro. Shaun: Yeah. So like what's the point? Like why are why are we at this point wasting each other's time? Barry: She gonna be out here hanging out with bears and stuff. Jen: Yeah. Barry: She said, man. She said, I'm going to the woods to hang out with this bear that I've met, I trust him. Shaun: This guy. I'm going to the woods. Jen: Listen. She said, Yogi's my new best my it's my new best friend. Shaun: man. Unless unless homie has a prenup in place, I don't know. Never know. That could be part of it too. He might be. So and there we go. We're telling stories again. Barry: out. he sounds like he might be that kind of guy. Daddy, daddy gave me everything including my prenum. Jen: Tell stories. Shaun: Yeah. Barry: Daddy gave me everything. Jen: We want prenump Shaun: Yeah. It's something that you need to have because when she leave your ass, she's gonna leave with half. Barry: Yo, if you come in with a bag, I get that. I get protecting yourself, bro. That's what I'm like. I get it if you coming Jen: Yeah. Ha ha ha Barry: in with a full bag. But if we come with Shaun: Yeah. Barry: both, we both come in with no bags, why do we need a? Jen: Mm-mm. No. Shaun: yeah. Yeah. I don't know. Barry: I don't know. Jen: Yeah. Barry: That's just hard. Shaun: well. All right. Well, Barry: was hard. Shaun: episode number seventeen. Jen: That is a wild one. Shaun: This one has a little bit of a roller coaster here with this one. Barry almost died. We did. We Jen: Yeah. A little heavy. We made it. Barry: We made it. We made it, yo. We made it. Shaun: made it. We made it through that roller coaster ride. Jen: Have you guys ever seen what is his name? Dane. Shaun: Bingo. What's his name, Jen: He's a comedian. Barry: Staying cool. Jen: No, not Dane Cook. What no, what is his name? And I'm dropping the ball, but he's really funny. And that was so anticlimactic, and I apologize. No, but it's not Dane. It's not Dane. Barry: Good to know. I'm going to go look for Dane. Dane the funny comedian. he's just go find the funny comedian. Shaun: Have y'all seen that comedian? He's really funny. Yeah, look out for the funny comedians out there, y'all. Barry: Watch out, y'all. He's great. He's Jen: It's really, Barry: a funny. He is hilarious. Jen: really good. Although it really was just like the one stand-up special that was funny, Shaun: He's hilarious dead. Jen: and then he kind of fell off after that. No, is it Chris? I'll think of it. I really am. But you said Barry: You just throwing out random names. It's lots of Chris's. Shaun: Ha ha ha. Jen: you said now I can't even. Barry: my gosh, Jen. This is how we're ending it? This is how we're ending it, huh? Jen: Listen, it's getting late and I need to go to bed. Shaun: Are we gonna let's just keep going backwards? He started with Dane, now we're going Chris. What's a B name? Throw a B name out there. Jen: man. It I really th you skipped. I know I really think it's Chris something. Because he said we made it, you guys. And that's part of his Shaun: from? okay. Jen: drunk girl speech is they go, ooh, we made it. Yeah. And he's pretending to be Shaun: Yeah. Jen: a drunk girl. So Kenny and I do that a lot. We go, ooh, we made it. And now we have to stop. Barry: Well, y'all gotta stop. Y'all better stop. Shaun: Y'all over here just supportin'. Jen: that's so annoying. Why do people have to be like that? Barry: Okay, so when does like when somebody who was okay, because we talked about this I think it was that you're like going away shindig Shaun Kayla as she said do I still support Michael Jackson? I was like, well, what did he get acute? What is like nobody ever proved anything? It's all accusations Jen: Mm. Mm-hmm. Shaun: like with the Yeah. Jen: Mm-hmm. Yeah. Barry: And then she's like we gotta go watch this documentary. I was like, me that's somebody's perspective He has never been indicted on anything Jen: Yeah. Yeah. But I don't know. Barry: So when does that, where Shaun: Yeah. Barry: does that line get drawn in the sand that you shouldn't support somebody? Jen: Yeah. Shaun: I think it's just personal preference, honestly. I think that like if you feel Jen: yeah, 'cause Shaun: that you don't want to support them anymore, then don't. I mean, at the end of the day, like it's all your choice, your decision to make. Especially Barry: I mean Shaun: like when you think of like Jen: Yeah. Shaun: artists and things like that. I mean, if you want to listen to it, listen to it. If you don't, then don't. He does. Barry: Chris Brown still made some bangers, bro. He be banging on girls too, I mean. Jen: he did. Shaun: That's not funny. That's not funny at all, but the way you said it. But I mean yeah I mean, yeah, Jen: Banging on girls. Maid bangers. You're ridiculous. But that isn't a good example. Shaun: like same R. Kelly. Some of the best music we've ever heard in our lives. Yeah. Jen: Mm-hmm. Yeah. Barry: Hell. Ruined it. Just ruined his legacy. Jen: Mm-hmm. Barry: Kelly. Why P Diddy? Why'd you have to do it? Shaun: P Diddy's freaking P Diddy whole nother kind of monster. It's insane. Well let's get out of here if we're talking about people like that. Barry: crazy bro anyways we gotta end this episode somehow Jen: Mm. We're gonna go depressing real quick. Mm. Barry: Clip all that out.
