- 0:00Speaker 1: The Mark Simone Show continues on sevent tenor well, let's
- 0:06Speaker 1: talk to the Dean himself, Ed Rollins, the greatest political analyst,
- 0:10Speaker 1: have always worked on a million campaigns, run the biggest
- 0:12Speaker 1: best campaigns ever, Ed Rollins, How you doing?
- 0:16Speaker 2: Good morning? How are you?
- 0:17Speaker 1: I'm good. I'm looking at the President's schedule. I mean,
- 0:20Speaker 1: this guy used to be in New York having fun
- 0:22Speaker 1: all day. Now he's meeting with Saudi leaders. Who wants
- 0:26Speaker 1: to spend the whole day with these Saudi leaders? You've
- 0:29Speaker 1: been in these meetings? What do they do in these meetings?
- 0:32Speaker 2: Well, I think this is a Trump retirement fund for
- 0:35Speaker 2: his kids. Oh. The reality here is, you know, the
- 0:40Speaker 2: Saudi prince who's being treated like I have a state
- 0:42Speaker 2: and will be eventually when his father passed away, Yeah,
- 0:44Speaker 2: which could be a year old, two years. But he
- 0:49Speaker 2: seems to be getting everything and not giving anything, you know,
- 0:53Speaker 2: And I sort of compress her with the day today
- 0:55Speaker 2: as you see, the women who are victims of Epstein
- 0:59Speaker 2: dominated all the network network and all the cable news
- 1:02Speaker 2: this morning for a couple of hours, certainly will today,
- 1:05Speaker 2: and then you have this Saudi prince coming in here
- 1:08Speaker 2: basically is getting our F thirty five. He's gonna buy them.
- 1:12Speaker 2: He's now gonna have the only kind of jet, the
- 1:15Speaker 2: little super jet in the world, with the with the Israelis,
- 1:18Speaker 2: and he's not giving us anything at this point in time.
- 1:20Speaker 2: He's even to make a deal. You get something, to
- 1:23Speaker 2: make it something. And the only thing I see is
- 1:25Speaker 2: the President getting at this point in time is the
- 1:27Speaker 2: ability to be a long.
- 1:29Speaker 1: Term with the Saudi's.
- 1:33Speaker 2: I mean, it's certainly certainly raises political issues that the
- 1:35Speaker 2: Democrats will exploit. And I look at everything from a
- 1:38Speaker 2: political perspective.
- 1:39Speaker 1: Yeah, and if we're good, if we're giving him these
- 1:43Speaker 1: top weapons. Shaudi's have a habit of sharing stuff with
- 1:45Speaker 1: the Chinese, don't they That's not good?
- 1:47Speaker 2: Well, they do, and and and the Russians and everybody else.
- 1:50Speaker 2: And the key thing in the past, whenever we sold
- 1:52Speaker 2: our supergenses, we always made sure that they don't get
- 1:56Speaker 2: every part of it. They don't get all the controls,
- 1:58Speaker 2: all their weapons systems, what have you. So I don't
- 2:00Speaker 2: know what the details are in these particular things they
- 2:02Speaker 2: have thirty five or is ready the only ones that
- 2:05Speaker 2: have them at this time. We've made some deals with
- 2:06Speaker 2: the Polished to sell some of them in the future,
- 2:09Speaker 2: but we haven't done that yet. Yeah, So I just
- 2:11Speaker 2: I just worry about it. I just don't think it's
- 2:13Speaker 2: a good deal for us at this point in time,
- 2:14Speaker 2: and I think the timing of it is terrible, and
- 2:16Speaker 2: every day the time it is and we're not getting
- 2:20Speaker 2: anything back at this point in time.
- 2:21Speaker 1: So yeah, back to the Democrats. So they spending so
- 2:24Speaker 1: much time on this Sepstein stuff, they're not focusing on
- 2:26Speaker 1: what you just brought up. They're going to miss this.
- 2:30Speaker 2: Well, I think they're going to miss the night. I
- 2:34Speaker 2: always worry about Republicans. I don't worry about the Democrats,
- 2:37Speaker 2: you know. I mean, at the end of the day,
- 2:39Speaker 2: if we do our job well, we can win campaigns. Uh,
- 2:43Speaker 2: and we're gonna have we gonna have a terrible year
- 2:46Speaker 2: next year if we're not careful, if we don't improve
- 2:48Speaker 2: in every element. Can go back and look at everything
- 2:50Speaker 2: that happened to us last Tuesday and improve on those things.
- 2:53Speaker 2: And you know, obviously we could have a bad mid term,
- 2:56Speaker 2: nowhere near as bad as in the past. But you know,
- 2:58Speaker 2: we've got a handful of seats that have enjoyed already
- 3:00Speaker 2: both the House, the Senate, if you lose ten to
- 3:03Speaker 2: fifteen seats, you know, you're kind look very tough the last.
- 3:06Speaker 1: Couple of years here, okay, but say six seven, eight
- 3:10Speaker 1: months from now, the economy is doing well, prices are down.
- 3:13Speaker 1: Is that all it takes or is it still tough?
- 3:15Speaker 2: Well, it's certainly, it's certainly be very beneficial. And this,
- 3:19Speaker 2: you know, that's let's hope at this point in time.
- 3:21Speaker 2: And at the end of the day, you've got to
- 3:23Speaker 2: go out and make your case for why all this
- 3:25Speaker 2: stuff is good. And today, you know, in the presence
- 3:28Speaker 2: doing all this international stuff, which is all part of
- 3:31Speaker 2: the job. Don't take that away from them. But at
- 3:33Speaker 2: the same time, it becomes more of his interest, I
- 3:36Speaker 2: think as it is domestic. Domestic is what people are
- 3:39Speaker 2: going to vote on them, and whether we go to
- 3:41Speaker 2: war with Venezuela or any of the rest of it
- 3:43Speaker 2: is certainly a great distraction at Rolins.
- 3:47Speaker 1: Now you've been involved in this for years. Let me
- 3:48Speaker 1: ask you something. You ever see a crop of people
- 3:51Speaker 1: like this, mom, Donnie or AOC, these crazy left wing socialists,
- 3:54Speaker 1: although slick, charming, fast talking, have we ever seen a
- 3:59Speaker 1: period like this before where these guys were taken over
- 4:02Speaker 1: no after after Watergate.
- 4:05Speaker 2: The Democrats had a big year in seventy four and
- 4:07Speaker 2: they came back and they tried to take a lot
- 4:09Speaker 2: more power to back to the Palace and took us
- 4:13Speaker 2: seventy eight years to come back. At that point in time,
- 4:15Speaker 2: people were saying, you know, we'll never be another Republican.
- 4:17Speaker 2: I come back to this when Nixon was housted eight
- 4:21Speaker 2: years later back in the White House again. But you've
- 4:23Speaker 2: got to have the right leaders, the right people. I mean,
- 4:27Speaker 2: to a certain extent, we've got We've got a couple
- 4:28Speaker 2: of real hard years in this year, and we've got
- 4:31Speaker 2: to make up some ground on particularly after after this
- 4:34Speaker 2: last week. If we were losing Hispanic voters and losing
- 4:37Speaker 2: mayls and mail voters we got last time president and
- 4:40Speaker 2: president had a magical election last time. You can't take
- 4:43Speaker 2: that for granted. You've got to go back and work
- 4:45Speaker 2: at vote, make sure those people are for you. And
- 4:48Speaker 2: obviously the economy is critical. That's what people want and
- 4:50Speaker 2: that's what you've got to make sure all your time
- 4:52Speaker 2: and its just devoted there.
- 4:54Speaker 1: You know, if you really analyzed the mayoral stuff, the voting,
- 4:59Speaker 1: Mamdanie didn't not win the working class, the blue collar
- 5:02Speaker 1: working class. Most of the votes came from the elitist
- 5:05Speaker 1: over educated. Yeah, young, so uh, how do you how
- 5:10Speaker 1: do you get those people to see reality?
- 5:14Speaker 2: Well, you got to go out and talk to them.
- 5:16Speaker 2: I mean the reality of how you win in New York.
- 5:18Speaker 2: Which is the key thing here is you got to
- 5:21Speaker 2: you got to make sure you don't lose New York
- 5:23Speaker 2: by half a million votes. And you gotta win Westchester.
- 5:26Speaker 2: You're gotta win Nasa, you gotta win Suffolk. Uh. And
- 5:31Speaker 2: you know you got to make sure those people are
- 5:33Speaker 2: all all in the game. Fully, there's a formula I
- 5:37Speaker 2: can win it. Attack he did it, was a lot
- 5:40Speaker 2: of did it for a long time. But it's not
- 5:42Speaker 2: it's not accidental. You gotta go out to work hard
- 5:44Speaker 2: and make sure that all works out hard in that state.
- 5:47Speaker 2: Place like Buffalo when Ivan he used to be a
- 5:49Speaker 2: very significant vote for us, this half a million vote.
- 5:52Speaker 2: When I used to work for Jack Kemp was this
- 5:54Speaker 2: chair on a round for president. There are half a
- 5:56Speaker 2: million more people in Buffalo and those were the blue
- 6:00Speaker 2: college jobs and what have you. We got to go
- 6:01Speaker 2: out and make sure the blue collar voters are our voters.
- 6:03Speaker 2: Got to make sure the Hispanic progress we made the
- 6:06Speaker 2: last election we can gain again. We didn't get it
- 6:09Speaker 2: this time in those two midterm elections. But we've got
- 6:12Speaker 2: to make sure that those voters do care about them
- 6:15Speaker 2: and that the way we're doing the immigration stuff, I
- 6:17Speaker 2: think to a certain extent, is not as smooth an
- 6:20Speaker 2: effect that those it should be.
- 6:22Speaker 1: Hey, you get these people that are Republicans are run
- 6:24Speaker 1: around yelling a Republican can never win in New York City.
- 6:27Speaker 1: A Republican Now I'm hearing it for governor. Republican can't
- 6:29Speaker 1: win for governor. This is not helping anybody to keep
- 6:33Speaker 1: chanting this, is it.
- 6:35Speaker 2: No, it's not. The reality is we can when we
- 6:38Speaker 2: had a point in time where we had a lot
- 6:40Speaker 2: of Republicans here, we had attacking was governor for twelve years,
- 6:43Speaker 2: we had Giuliani as mayor, we had Tomorrow as the center,
- 6:49Speaker 2: and you know, we just have to go out and
- 6:50Speaker 2: execute them. And my sense is we just haven't had
- 6:54Speaker 2: a good plan. We just we just we focused too
- 6:57Speaker 2: much attention to the things that aren't no matter to people.
- 7:00Speaker 2: He's to go out and talk to people, registered voters,
- 7:02Speaker 2: a strong party, build a strong party next year, and
- 7:06Speaker 2: decide where you're gonna get your votes.
- 7:08Speaker 1: Yeah, at Republican Party in New York. Not a lot
- 7:11Speaker 1: of infrastructure there and not a lot of manpower. What
- 7:13Speaker 1: can we do about that?
- 7:15Speaker 2: You gotta get to raise money. Uh, and you've got
- 7:17Speaker 2: to basically make sure that people understand the value of
- 7:20Speaker 2: spending money beyond the city. You got to get say
- 7:25Speaker 2: to Tassa, Suffolk, Westchester, upstate. Uh, that's how you win
- 7:30Speaker 2: state wide here in New York.
- 7:31Speaker 1: Yeah, ed ronins, we only got a minute left, mom, Donnie.
- 7:34Speaker 1: When he takes over, will he be a lot worse
- 7:36Speaker 1: than we thought? Will he be not quite as bad
- 7:39Speaker 1: as we thought?
- 7:39Speaker 2: What do you think he'll be worse than we thought?
- 7:42Speaker 2: Because the people people, well, the people who's gonna put
- 7:45Speaker 2: around him. Uh, you know, he's he's one guy, but
- 7:48Speaker 2: he's got a lot of power. But the people he's
- 7:51Speaker 2: gonna put he's bringing back with the basil people, he's
- 7:53Speaker 2: bringing back a lot of people that you know, it's
- 7:55Speaker 2: not like he's calling a sudden going to the business
- 7:57Speaker 2: com meeting and say hey, give me your best your
- 7:59Speaker 2: right is today's going to the socialist friends and saying,
- 8:02Speaker 2: you know, you want a job in government. I think
- 8:05Speaker 2: he's made a good move and hopefully Tish will stay
- 8:07Speaker 2: as a police commissioner. But if she does, I don't
- 8:11Speaker 2: know who lands have that job. To me, it's the
- 8:14Speaker 2: most important job right now in the city.
- 8:16Speaker 1: Well it round's great stuff. Thanks for talking about this.
- 8:19Speaker 1: We'll do it again, Sam, all right, take take care. Hey,
- 8:23Speaker 1: don't forget. At noon it's Buck Sexton, Klay Travis. This
- 8:26Speaker 1: is a great show every day at twelve, then at
- 8:28Speaker 1: three o'clock. You got to most listen to radio show
- 8:30Speaker 1: in America, Sean Hannity. You got Jesse Kelly at six,
- 8:34Speaker 1: and our new show is Jimmy Fayla every night nine
- 8:37Speaker 1: at midnight, A very funny, interesting, great show nine to midnight.
