- 0:16Speaker 2: Labour has announced another small business policy. It's the third
- 0:19Speaker 2: since Chris Luxe and small business comments more than a
- 0:21Speaker 2: week ago. This time it's to help small businesses join
- 0:23Speaker 2: the AI Revolution. Leader Chris Hipkins is with us now,
- 0:26Speaker 2: h Chippy, can I heaven before we get to that?
- 0:30Speaker 2: Is Chris Luxon being rolled a good thing for you
- 0:33Speaker 2: or a bad thing for you?
- 0:35Speaker 3: Well, it's kind of irrelevant to us. Regardless of who
- 0:38Speaker 3: leads the National Party, they're going to have to answer
- 0:40Speaker 3: to the mess that they've made of everything they said
- 0:42Speaker 3: they were going to fix the economy, they've made it worse.
- 0:44Speaker 3: They said they were going to fix unemployment. More people
- 0:46Speaker 3: are losing their jobs. They said they were going to
- 0:48Speaker 3: be pro business. Businesses are going into liquidation. So whoever
- 0:51Speaker 3: leads the National Party, they're going to have to answer
- 0:53Speaker 3: to that track record.
- 0:55Speaker 2: I think it's bad for you, Chippy, because you're unpopular,
- 0:58Speaker 2: and he's unpopular, and if they roll him and chuck
- 1:01Speaker 2: somebody popular in there, you're in big trouble, aren't you.
- 1:05Speaker 3: The National Party is busy fighting amongst themselves. I'm out
- 1:07Speaker 3: there to talk about small businesses promoting the policies that
- 1:11Speaker 3: can actually turn around to New Zealand's fortunes, while the
- 1:14Speaker 3: National Party fighter amongst.
- 1:15Speaker 2: Themselves, all right, how are you going to help with
- 1:17Speaker 2: the AI?
- 1:19Speaker 3: Well, we know that small businesses do want to adapt
- 1:21Speaker 3: to AI, but they don't have big IT departments. They
- 1:24Speaker 3: want a bit of additional support. So we can provide
- 1:26Speaker 3: some of that additional sport and expertise to them so
- 1:29Speaker 3: that they can weigh up how AI could help them,
- 1:32Speaker 3: what the risks of U using AI could be. It's
- 1:34Speaker 3: just leveling the playing fields to small businesses in that area.
- 1:38Speaker 2: Do we need you guys to actually help us with AI?
- 1:41Speaker 2: I mean literally we can go to AI and say hey,
- 1:44Speaker 2: I'm a florist, how can AI help me?
- 1:47Speaker 3: Now, this is about connecting small business with the expertise
- 1:49Speaker 3: that can actually help them. So no, it isn't government
- 1:51Speaker 3: doing that. It's about making sure that a small business
- 1:54Speaker 3: can access that expertise that's out there. Big businesses have
- 1:57Speaker 3: no trouble accessing that, but small businesses say that costs
- 2:00Speaker 3: can be a big barrier to them accessing that expertise.
- 2:03Speaker 3: We want to level that playing field by saying small businesses, yep,
- 2:06Speaker 3: we want to make sure you can get that too.
- 2:08Speaker 2: All right, Chibie, thanks very much, but I appreciate it.
- 2:10Speaker 2: Chris Hopkins, Labor Party Leader.
