- 0:51Speaker 1: Welcome to The Breakdown. All right, let's get right into it.
- 0:56Speaker 1: We got the top six quarterbacks of the week, and
- 0:59Speaker 1: we're going to start with number six. He's making his
- 1:01Speaker 1: debut on this list, Bryce Young. The Carolina Panthers, a massive,
- 1:07Speaker 1: massive win at the Philadelphia Eagles. Carolina, you are 3-2
- 1:14Speaker 1: right now. You won 25-14 at Philadelphia. More importantly, I
- 1:18Speaker 1: thought Bryce Young, really not only this game, but the
- 1:22Speaker 1: whole season, for the most part, has played really, really well.
- 1:26Speaker 1: He's seen the field well. He's throwing footballs into tight windows.
- 1:31Speaker 1: He's playing with a level of confidence that a lot
- 1:34Speaker 1: of guys and a lot of quarterbacks, it's hard to find.
- 1:37Speaker 1: I mean, he was 20 of 39, 281 yards, two touchdowns,
- 1:42Speaker 1: no interceptions. It was a low completion rate because they
- 1:45Speaker 1: were taking shots down the football field. He had a
- 1:47Speaker 1: 91 rating, had those two sacks. did a nice job
- 1:51Speaker 1: getting away from pressure. And it's always hard to go
- 1:53Speaker 1: into someone else's house, especially Philadelphia's and get a win.
- 1:57Speaker 1: And I know all this stuff is happening with the
- 1:59Speaker 1: Philadelphia Eagles, but I was just really impressed with everything
- 2:03Speaker 1: that he was able to do. Tommy Trumbull caught both
- 2:06Speaker 1: touchdown passes, including a fourth quarter score that restored a
- 2:10Speaker 1: lot of breathing room. This game, in my opinion, really
- 2:12Speaker 1: wasn't close. And Chubba Hubbard, I thought that was awesome.
- 2:18Speaker 1: When you have a quarterback, with a run game that
- 2:22Speaker 1: can actually take over games. You don't have to put
- 2:25Speaker 1: it all on yourself. He carried 28 times for 120
- 2:28Speaker 1: yards and a touchdown. Jalen Coker had six catches, 97 yards,
- 2:32Speaker 1: and Tett McMillan added six for 86. I just love
- 2:36Speaker 1: the fact how they are spreading the football around to
- 2:41Speaker 1: all their weapons. I think they're a lot better team
- 2:44Speaker 1: than three and two. Honestly, I think that there's a
- 2:46Speaker 1: lot of different variations of what this offense could be.
- 2:51Speaker 1: More importantly, just how well Bryce Young has continued to grow.
- 2:55Speaker 1: I just think when you have a quarterback that can
- 2:56Speaker 1: play as well as he can play, sky's the limit
- 2:59Speaker 1: for Carolina. I think this is a really winnable NFC
- 3:01Speaker 1: South division. Look, Philly was without Jalen Hurts, top three
- 3:05Speaker 1: running backs. I love how Carolina in general, they played
- 3:10Speaker 1: a lot better. But look, this was productive, interception-free win,
- 3:13Speaker 1: a low completion percentage rate. It happens. The execution, support
- 3:18Speaker 1: of the run game, it really, really made a difference.
- 3:21Speaker 1: Really like the way he's going. All right, let's move
- 3:23Speaker 1: on to Kirk Cousins, number five. A lot of you
- 3:26Speaker 1: Raiders fans are out there saying, hey, why hasn't Kirk
- 3:29Speaker 1: Cousins made the list? Why hasn't he made the list? Well,
- 3:31Speaker 1: he went toe-to-toe, was one of the best quarterbacks in
- 3:34Speaker 1: the entire NFL. They ended up losing 33-30 to Buffalo.
- 3:37Speaker 1: Las Vegas, 3-3, lost a couple games now here, back-to-back,
- 3:39Speaker 1: 23-41 though. 313 yards, two touchdowns. That one interception was costly,
- 3:50Speaker 1: only 56% completion rate. Look, I like the way that
- 3:54Speaker 1: Kirk is playing. He led a 91-yard touchdown drive that
- 3:57Speaker 1: tied the game at 23. Trey Tucker, that 11-yard scoring
- 4:01Speaker 1: pass came on third and eight. It was an amazing route,
- 4:04Speaker 1: amazing throw. I just think he's really fit the bill
- 4:08Speaker 1: here for the Las Vegas Raiders with Clint Kubiak, the
- 4:11Speaker 1: way he is playing on time, the way he is uh,
- 4:15Speaker 1: playing under center. Um, they have a really nice, uh, uh,
- 4:19Speaker 1: run game aspect of, even though it's not a lot,
- 4:23Speaker 1: Ashton Genting needs to get going, but they have this
- 4:25Speaker 1: run game aspect where you're able to have this play actions,
- 4:28Speaker 1: a lot of shifts, a lot of motions. I think
- 4:31Speaker 1: the one interception though, to Dorian Williams, that's what kept
- 4:33Speaker 1: them from really creeping up on my list. It was
- 4:35Speaker 1: in the third quarter. And then ultimately Buffalo turned that
- 4:38Speaker 1: possession into a Josh Allen touchdown to Keon Coleman. Um,
- 4:43Speaker 1: Anytime you can go head-to-head with one of the top
- 4:45Speaker 1: two or three quarterbacks in the NFL, in Josh Allen,
- 4:48Speaker 1: and you throw for more passing yards to them and
- 4:50Speaker 1: you keep it close. Las Vegas is not the same
- 4:53Speaker 1: old Las Vegas Raiders. I mean, it is really impressive
- 4:56Speaker 1: what they're doing. The completion rate, a little low. The interception,
- 5:00Speaker 1: not great. The quality of throws, though, and just the
- 5:07Speaker 1: difficulty level on some of these third downs. I mean,
- 5:09Speaker 1: there was a third and 11, I believe, to the
- 5:11Speaker 1: tight end. over the middle of the field. It was great.
- 5:16Speaker 1: I think the one thing about the Raiders, and I'm
- 5:20Speaker 1: not saying they should go to Fernando Mendoza, but there
- 5:23Speaker 1: has to be a little bit of questioning. Not necessarily
- 5:29Speaker 1: can our guy Kirk Cousins win games, because we know
- 5:32Speaker 1: it is, but ultimately, you look at their stretch that's
- 5:35Speaker 1: coming up, you gotta have an answer. You gotta have
- 5:38Speaker 1: an answer on what's happening Remember, Fernando Mendoza is just
- 5:43Speaker 1: waiting in the wings right there. If you lose two
- 5:46Speaker 1: or three more, you have to really, really think about
- 5:50Speaker 1: getting the torch and giving the torch to the rookie.
- 5:53Speaker 1: He played a little bit, didn't think it was anything
- 5:55Speaker 1: you could write home about, but the only way to
- 5:58Speaker 1: continue to get better is by experience. The only way
- 6:01Speaker 1: to get experience is to actually play. I don't think
- 6:04Speaker 1: the Vegas Raiders are out of the playoff picture whatsoever.
- 6:07Speaker 1: I don't think they're going to win the division with
- 6:09Speaker 1: the The Chiefs undefeated, but I guarantee you if they
- 6:13Speaker 1: continue to lose, even though they're playing well, there's going
- 6:16Speaker 1: to be some talk about going to Fernando Mendoza. All right,
- 6:18Speaker 1: let's get to number four, Jordan Love. Man, dude's been
- 6:23Speaker 1: on an absolute tear the last two weeks. They won
- 6:26Speaker 1: 23-13 versus Dallas Green Bay. All of a sudden, after
- 6:29Speaker 1: losing two early ones, they're 4-2 on track right now.
- 6:35Speaker 1: Jordan Love... Even though it was against this Dallas defense,
- 6:38Speaker 1: they brought in Mike Pettin. I thought it was a
- 6:40Speaker 1: lot better defensive plan for Dallas. But Jordan Love, I believe,
- 6:44Speaker 1: was pressured on about 50% of his dropbacks, which that's
- 6:47Speaker 1: what really separates him, even though the fact is the
- 6:51Speaker 1: numbers are really good, right? 23-41, 276 yards and a touchdown,
- 6:55Speaker 1: one pick. Had a rushing touchdown as well. They used
- 6:57Speaker 1: his legs. He got sacked three times. Coming into the game,
- 7:00Speaker 1: Dallas had five. So the offensive line a little leaky,
- 7:03Speaker 1: but they were bringing all these different types of pressures
- 7:07Speaker 1: to try and get to Jordan Love. And it just
- 7:09Speaker 1: seemed like time and time again, he would fall off
- 7:11Speaker 1: his back foot. He would throw a cross or he
- 7:13Speaker 1: would fall off his back foot. He'd know where to go.
- 7:16Speaker 1: He would get up to the line of scrimmage. He
- 7:17Speaker 1: would handle the protection. He would know where to turn it.
- 7:20Speaker 1: He would know where to go with the ball. And
- 7:22Speaker 1: it was unbelievable because he's the last two weeks, he's
- 7:24Speaker 1: got that effort in him. He's just throwing that freaking
- 7:27Speaker 1: deep ball. It's such a pretty one. I mean, they
- 7:30Speaker 1: had three touchdown drops. Christian Watson had one. Matthew Golden
- 7:37Speaker 1: had two. So the numbers are a little bit down.
- 7:41Speaker 1: I love the way that Jordan Love converted on a
- 7:47Speaker 1: bunch of fourth downs on the opening drive, or excuse me,
- 7:50Speaker 1: a bunch of third downs on the opening drive. They
- 7:52Speaker 1: had nine third down conversions in the first half, but
- 7:55Speaker 1: this 14 play, 90 yard touchdown drive to start the
- 7:58Speaker 1: game with Matthew Golden catching it. If you've got Jordan Love,
- 8:03Speaker 1: Matthew Golden, who's coming into his own, and Christian Watson,
- 8:05Speaker 1: who's a legitimate number one, Josh Jacobs is coming back.
- 8:08Speaker 1: You have all these other people getting sort of healthy.
- 8:12Speaker 1: Tucker Kraft got a little banged up. I just thought
- 8:14Speaker 1: that the last two games, the Bears and specifically this
- 8:18Speaker 1: Cowboys one, if Matt LaFleur can continue to draw up
- 8:24Speaker 1: these plays, they've got to get a run game, though.
- 8:27Speaker 1: You can draw up all these plays that you want,
- 8:28Speaker 1: and you're putting a lot of pressure on your quarterback.
- 8:31Speaker 1: It's going to be very, very difficult to sustain this
- 8:34Speaker 1: level of play. People sort of forgot about Jordan Love.
- 8:37Speaker 1: I don't know why. I think he was in the
- 8:39Speaker 1: top three or four or five toward the end of
- 8:41Speaker 1: the year in December of the MVP sort of ballot
- 8:44Speaker 1: and voting. and he's a dark horse MVP right now.
- 8:47Speaker 1: I mean, I just, I really, really think that this
- 8:50Speaker 1: dude is special throwing the football. I think he's going
- 8:53Speaker 1: to turn a lot of heads in the coming months.
- 8:55Speaker 1: All right, let's get on to number three, Josh Allen,
- 8:57Speaker 1: the Buffalo Bills. They ended up winning 33 to 30
- 9:01Speaker 1: at Las Vegas. Anytime you can get a win on
- 9:03Speaker 1: the road, you improve to five and one. The Bills, man,
- 9:08Speaker 1: they look scary good. It's not only because of Josh Allen,
- 9:12Speaker 1: it's because of James Cook, Um, a couple, a couple
- 9:17Speaker 1: things about this Buffalo bills team. One, they, they stayed
- 9:21Speaker 1: out after they beat the Rams in overtime. They stayed
- 9:23Speaker 1: out on the West coast instead of going all the
- 9:25Speaker 1: way back. That's so difficult to do for a lot
- 9:28Speaker 1: of many different reasons. One, you don't see your, your
- 9:30Speaker 1: kids and your wife and everything. You're out of your routine.
- 9:33Speaker 1: You're out of this stuff. And sometimes when you're out here,
- 9:35Speaker 1: you can get a little bit bored, but to actually
- 9:37Speaker 1: come in here and to get a win against a
- 9:40Speaker 1: very good Raiders team. I 23 of 33, 255, two touchdowns, 70%
- 9:45Speaker 1: completion rate, 112 rating, only one rushing yard, zero rushing touchdowns.
- 9:52Speaker 1: But it was the fight that Josh Allen had. I mean,
- 9:54Speaker 1: like the Raiders stormed all the way back. And then
- 9:57Speaker 1: that that game winning drive was unbelievable. Right now the
- 10:01Speaker 1: bills are four and one in one possession games. I
- 10:04Speaker 1: think that's a huge stat. Um, that 12 yard touchdown
- 10:07Speaker 1: to Keon Coleman on third and eight, he turned that
- 10:11Speaker 1: collapsing pocket into a scoring, his movement, his eyes, his
- 10:15Speaker 1: direction on which he went and that flip of that
- 10:17Speaker 1: football was was unbelievable. Khalil Shakur is going. Keon Coleman,
- 10:22Speaker 1: you get so many different types of weapons. Keon Coleman's
- 10:27Speaker 1: finally starting to come into his own. Josh Palmer even
- 10:29Speaker 1: played really well. Shakur's more your quick in-space guy. You're
- 10:32Speaker 1: able to get that. James Cook had a late three-yard
- 10:36Speaker 1: touchdown to break the tie at 23. And then obviously
- 10:39Speaker 1: Tyler Bass, when you get up to him, get that
- 10:42Speaker 1: field goal. I think it's really good. I think that
- 10:44Speaker 1: they need to continue to lean on that run game.
- 10:46Speaker 1: I think Joe Brady and Pete Carmichael are doing a
- 10:48Speaker 1: nice job. Five and one, Josh Allen at number three.
- 10:52Speaker 1: All right, let's get to number two. That's right, CJ Stroud,
- 10:54Speaker 1: the Houston Texans. He has not been on this list,
- 10:58Speaker 1: so congratulations for getting on my top six list. I'm
- 11:01Speaker 1: sure you could care less. However, you got a massive
- 11:04Speaker 1: win in London, 34-31 at Wembley Stadium. Houston somehow some
- 11:11Speaker 1: way is on life support. Two and four, CJ Stroud,
- 11:17Speaker 1: 24 of 34, 312 yards, three touchdowns at one. Backbreaking,
- 11:21Speaker 1: brutal interception in the red zone that cannot happen. That's
- 11:25Speaker 1: probably why he's not number one on my list to
- 11:29Speaker 1: Travis Hunter. I just thought that really this entire season,
- 11:35Speaker 1: CJ Stroud's tape, from start to finish for six games,
- 11:39Speaker 1: has been excellent. The timing, he looks like a completely
- 11:44Speaker 1: different quarterback. I would say the issue, I know the
- 11:47Speaker 1: issue is, one, their defense. When you're giving up 31,
- 11:50Speaker 1: you have to score 34 to win, and Jacksonville Jaguars
- 11:53Speaker 1: are a very, very good team to get a division win.
- 11:56Speaker 1: That's massive. They're not dead yet. If they just get
- 11:59Speaker 1: a better defensive showing, the way C.J. Stroud's playing. The
- 12:02Speaker 1: other thing is, too, there's just zero run game. like
- 12:06Speaker 1: zero run game. The other thing I really liked is
- 12:09Speaker 1: he had 31 pass attempts, extended his season opening interception
- 12:13Speaker 1: free streak to 216 yards. I'm sure he got announcer jinx,
- 12:16Speaker 1: but that interception in the end zone changed it, but
- 12:19Speaker 1: it was a Texas franchise record, 216 straight passes. His
- 12:23Speaker 1: three touchdown passes were a season high too. I just
- 12:26Speaker 1: think that the way you're able to go on the road,
- 12:30Speaker 1: like season truly on the line, like One in five,
- 12:35Speaker 1: it does not get it done at all. And you
- 12:40Speaker 1: get your eighth career game winning drive. Not strong production,
- 12:43Speaker 1: distribution of the football, 10 different receivers caught passes. Foster
- 12:47Speaker 1: Moreau caught two first half red zone touchdowns. Jalen Noel,
- 12:52Speaker 1: 107 yards, touchdowns on four catches. They need to keep
- 12:55Speaker 1: this going. All right, let's get to number one. I
- 12:57Speaker 1: know you guys know what it is. Caleb Williams, that's right.
- 12:59Speaker 1: Chicago Bears. Number one, they won 31-23 Atlanta. This game
- 13:03Speaker 1: was 31-7 in the fourth quarter with 11 minutes left.
- 13:08Speaker 1: The defense almost messed around and got it back and
- 13:11Speaker 1: gave it away, but Chicago's now 4-2. 30-36, 305 yards,
- 13:14Speaker 1: a touchdown, no interceptions, a really high completion rate, almost 84%.
- 13:20Speaker 1: Got four sacks, had four sacks, only four carries, three
- 13:23Speaker 1: rushing yards. He had a fumble. I thought you could
- 13:28Speaker 1: not play any better. to be honest with you, as
- 13:30Speaker 1: a quarterback on the road coming off a hamstring injury
- 13:33Speaker 1: that was a multi-week injury. You don't know how you're
- 13:35Speaker 1: going to play. You don't know how this is going
- 13:36Speaker 1: to happen. And this is such a different offense with
- 13:40Speaker 1: Caleb Williams at the helm. Ben Johnson doing a nice job.
- 13:43Speaker 1: It was a lot of throws at or behind the
- 13:46Speaker 1: line of scrimmage early to get them rocking and rolling.
- 13:48Speaker 1: They sort of took their foot off the gas. But
- 13:51Speaker 1: he missed three games with a hamstring injury. And how
- 13:53Speaker 1: about this? You open on the first two drives, 10
- 13:58Speaker 1: for 10, 122 yards and a touchdown pass across two
- 14:02Speaker 1: scoring possessions. Chicago, first two possessions, 14-0 lead. He just
- 14:07Speaker 1: changes this offense. Luther Burden stepped up. Roma Dunzey stepped up.
- 14:11Speaker 1: DeAndre Swift stepped up. How about the connection to Colston
- 14:15Speaker 1: Loveland stepping up? Man, that is what I am talking about.
- 14:19Speaker 1: I love it. I don't think that he could have
- 14:21Speaker 1: played any better special teams takeaway. How about Kyler Gordon, too?
- 14:26Speaker 1: I know this is top six quarterbacks, but how about
- 14:28Speaker 1: Kyler Gordon? I think multiple sacks. I just think the
- 14:33Speaker 1: one passing touchdown, if that's all you're looking at, it
- 14:35Speaker 1: understates the role in Caleb Williams in this offense. I
- 14:38Speaker 1: think the sky's the limit for him. I think when
- 14:40Speaker 1: Caleb Williams plays his best football and the Bears and
- 14:43Speaker 1: Dennis Allen can pressure, I think they're one of the
- 14:46Speaker 1: best teams in the entire NFC North. All right, I
- 14:50Speaker 1: hope you guys enjoyed our top six quarterbacks. Let me
- 14:54Speaker 1: know if you agree or disagree. Now we're going to
- 14:56Speaker 1: get into the portion of the show where we are
- 14:57Speaker 1: going to get into the film breakdowns first. We're going
- 15:00Speaker 1: to start with Caleb Williams, then we're going to get
- 15:01Speaker 1: into Bo Nix, and then we're going to go to
- 15:03Speaker 1: Bryce Young. We talked about Caleb Williams and everything that
- 15:06Speaker 1: he brought to the Chicago Bears in his comeback, missing
- 15:11Speaker 1: three games from hamstring injury. He was the light in
- 15:14Speaker 1: this office. It was impressive to watch. Let's get into it.
- 15:17Speaker 1: All right, Caleb Williams back in action. Gotta love it.
- 15:21Speaker 1: Thought he played really well. We got 11 plays to
- 15:23Speaker 1: go through. Let's first play the game. How about saying, hey,
- 15:26Speaker 1: you know what? Hamstring injury, totally fine. How about also
- 15:30Speaker 1: Colson Loveland all the way back? This is great. All right,
- 15:34Speaker 1: so you have a couple different things. You got two
- 15:36Speaker 1: tight ends, two receivers. You're going to motion over. He's
- 15:40Speaker 1: got the post. You got an over route by Colston.
- 15:43Speaker 1: And then you have a corner route. I think that
- 15:45Speaker 1: might be Burden. or Khalif, but you want to go
- 15:48Speaker 1: one only an alert though, two, three, I just love
- 15:52Speaker 1: how he I mean, he just brings a different dynamic
- 15:54Speaker 1: to the offense, right? He just everything that they're doing, right?
- 15:58Speaker 1: Here's Rome going. So you start in a one by
- 16:02Speaker 1: three formation. Now you just get to a two by
- 16:03Speaker 1: two tight split. You call it condensed formation two by
- 16:07Speaker 1: two call it squeeze, right? I like that they're also
- 16:10Speaker 1: pulling the left guard just trying to affect these guys eyes.
- 16:16Speaker 1: on this bootleg and naked. Exactly what you do. And
- 16:19Speaker 1: see how young quarterbacks will get from the back. See
- 16:21Speaker 1: how he attacks the line of scrimmage. Also, you got
- 16:24Speaker 1: Cole Komet right there. Nice job attacking the line of scrimmage.
- 16:29Speaker 1: The throw is great, but this is a lot more
- 16:31Speaker 1: difficult than you think. Yeah, so that's Khalif. You're going
- 16:34Speaker 1: to go to corner, over, down, flat. I mean, pretty much.
- 16:38Speaker 1: A lot of quarterbacks don't like going to their left
- 16:40Speaker 1: because they can't flip their hips and get them around.
- 16:43Speaker 1: But this is Caleb Williams, and he's not most quarterbacks.
- 16:46Speaker 1: Nice job faking. See how quickly he gets out. Nice
- 16:49Speaker 1: job by Kmet just sort of throwing him. Watch how
- 16:52Speaker 1: he attacks the line of scrimmage right there. Really nice.
- 16:58Speaker 1: Really had your chance and your choice of, hey, you
- 17:01Speaker 1: can run, right? If he takes that, run. If not,
- 17:05Speaker 1: dab it to him. Or you know what? Zero's not there.
- 17:07Speaker 1: Throw it right there. Such a good throw. Look at
- 17:10Speaker 1: this view right here. I love this view. This is
- 17:13Speaker 1: such a nice view. Jet sweep motion. Guys, don't you
- 17:17Speaker 1: love this? You just get to talk ball and nothing else.
- 17:21Speaker 1: Attack the line of scrimmage. Understand. Hey, that's where you
- 17:24Speaker 1: want to throw it. Going to your left. Look at that.
- 17:27Speaker 1: Pretty good pause right there. Nice job. Does a good
- 17:31Speaker 1: job not taking too big of a hit right there.
- 17:34Speaker 1: All right. Third and 11. Like this. This is play eight.
- 17:38Speaker 1: Go down there. Really nice first drive. You just get
- 17:42Speaker 1: to a two-by-two formation. They're showing pressure. Oh, no, we didn't.
- 17:47Speaker 1: Come on, Ben Johnson. First game back, third and 11.
- 17:50Speaker 1: I mean, this is, if you watch film of Ben
- 17:52Speaker 1: Johnson back to his days, fringe field goal range, third
- 17:56Speaker 1: and long, do this. This is so good on so
- 17:59Speaker 1: many different levels. Luckily, they don't get pressure. I want
- 18:03Speaker 1: you to look who makes this play, though, is Colson Loveland. Like,
- 18:07Speaker 1: in the In the stat book, whatever, it's not going
- 18:10Speaker 1: to say that. Watch what he does. He runs through
- 18:13Speaker 1: his guy on an out route. Yeah, right. You got
- 18:18Speaker 1: Rome right here doing this. And then the back's going
- 18:21Speaker 1: to come right here and go there. Throw it to here.
- 18:24Speaker 1: Pitch it to here. A little pitchy, pitchy woo-woo. Most importantly, watch.
- 18:28Speaker 1: Watch right there. He makes the entire play. Look, he doesn't.
- 18:32Speaker 1: He just runs through him and gets him away. They're
- 18:35Speaker 1: never going to call that. He's number two on the inside.
- 18:37Speaker 1: Nice job right there. 21 comes down. We got to
- 18:40Speaker 1: run this in our flag football team. First down. Such
- 18:44Speaker 1: a good play call. Such a good job in coaching
- 18:48Speaker 1: of situations. Like it's no, it's not just like, hey,
- 18:50Speaker 1: let's just do this and that. Run through here. Colson
- 18:54Speaker 1: Lovin does a nice job. 23 in and out. Pretty simple.
- 18:58Speaker 1: They got, here's another thing too. They got an overload
- 19:00Speaker 1: front to this side. So now you might have to
- 19:02Speaker 1: go backside a gap entry to get away from it.
- 19:06Speaker 1: But you don't, you're okay right there. Timing, rhythm, situation,
- 19:12Speaker 1: under control. I mean, this is a perfectly executed play.
- 19:16Speaker 1: I love it so much. We got to see it
- 19:19Speaker 1: three different times. Makes it though, running right through 56.
- 19:22Speaker 1: So good. So good on so many ways. One, two, right?
- 19:27Speaker 1: Just looking them off right there. The tempo of the
- 19:30Speaker 1: running back. Rome tosses it. So good. All right, next
- 19:35Speaker 1: play right here. two by two formation, just a little
- 19:38Speaker 1: bit of short motion chase. Why are they short motioning?
- 19:40Speaker 1: Teach me some football, will you? Well, 84 is right there.
- 19:44Speaker 1: Go down here. If this was a safety, which it is,
- 19:46Speaker 1: and he was lined up right here, you would know
- 19:48Speaker 1: it's man coverage. So they probably have a couple of
- 19:50Speaker 1: these checks, man check zones based on that. And it's
- 19:54Speaker 1: just as simple. They like this. This was the formation
- 19:57Speaker 1: of the day for them. Squeeze formation, two tight ends,
- 20:01Speaker 1: Kalief and 12 personnel. What is 12? One back, two
- 20:06Speaker 1: tight ends, second digits, two tight ends, And then you
- 20:09Speaker 1: also have Roma Dunze. Luther Burden also played a heavy
- 20:11Speaker 1: role into it. Okay, short motion. Now you have fast motion, right?
- 20:15Speaker 1: It's all sorts of these types of motions. Now you're
- 20:17Speaker 1: building a trip sponge with the receiver outside, with the
- 20:19Speaker 1: tight end outside. What do you do? Well, let's go
- 20:22Speaker 1: through it. Just go across. Scramble, drill, touchdown. Come on.
- 20:27Speaker 1: Come on. This is why and this is what they missed.
- 20:32Speaker 1: The why is like there ain't nothing open. I want
- 20:34Speaker 1: you to just look. Not open. Double covered. Double covered. Probably,
- 20:39Speaker 1: mere mortals might take that, get the first down. He's
- 20:42Speaker 1: so good at creating outside of the pocket, and that
- 20:45Speaker 1: is what they missed when he was gone between Case
- 20:48Speaker 1: Keenum and Tyson Bajent. This is the type of throw
- 20:51Speaker 1: that they want to do. Let's go down and break
- 20:54Speaker 1: down what it should have been. All right, so you
- 20:56Speaker 1: have all goes special, is what I think it is,
- 21:00Speaker 1: out here going with a shallow cross right here. You're
- 21:04Speaker 1: only going to hit this on, it's an alert, right?
- 21:07Speaker 1: If they're in man to man, you can come off.
- 21:10Speaker 1: They're not in man. Now they're in, now you go
- 21:13Speaker 1: one to two. Pure read, very simple. Seam down back, right?
- 21:19Speaker 1: So now what coverage is it? Well, it's the worst
- 21:21Speaker 1: coverage for all goes special, which all goes special is
- 21:23Speaker 1: what I just drew, shallow cross. You have cover four
- 21:27Speaker 1: or cover two to this side, right? Which means you
- 21:30Speaker 1: have a quarter, you have a quarter, you have a quarter,
- 21:32Speaker 1: you have a quarter. So where do you need to
- 21:34Speaker 1: attack this defense? Underneath. They do a good job passing
- 21:37Speaker 1: it off. He gets back. Nice job stepping up in
- 21:39Speaker 1: the pocket. Probably put it right there. Not so fast.
- 21:43Speaker 1: And then they scramble drill. And this was a really
- 21:46Speaker 1: nice throw and catch. Let's go through right here. So
- 21:50Speaker 1: this is where you want to get through there. Nothing
- 21:52Speaker 1: holding there because you have a shallow cross going. Kalief's
- 21:56Speaker 1: going right there. Back's here. Just not a lot of
- 21:58Speaker 1: stuff open, but that is what a good quarterback, a
- 22:01Speaker 1: great quarterback does. He's the eraser. I would say you
- 22:05Speaker 1: probably need to put it on right here. However, this
- 22:08Speaker 1: is what makes him special. Look at Colson. Look, he
- 22:11Speaker 1: not only looks at his quarterback, but now he's looking
- 22:13Speaker 1: at other people. Saying, hey, where do we need to go?
- 22:16Speaker 1: Where do we need to get this? Really good. I mean,
- 22:20Speaker 1: just the flick. Ha! This is crazy! We're definitely going
- 22:27Speaker 1: to see the throw from this view. I love the
- 22:29Speaker 1: fact that Colson is doing such a nice job. Right?
- 22:33Speaker 1: The step up in the pocket. I like it. Two
- 22:35Speaker 1: hands on the football. Step up and out. Find the
- 22:39Speaker 1: escape lane. And then as soon as he does, look
- 22:42Speaker 1: where his eyes go. They went there. They went here.
- 22:45Speaker 1: Now they're going here. He went through three different progressions
- 22:47Speaker 1: on this. And such a nice jump throw. Perfect. All right.
- 22:52Speaker 1: Third and 17. Not great. Not great at all for
- 22:56Speaker 1: the numbers. Don't ever want to be in these third
- 22:58Speaker 1: and 17s. Now you got quads. One, two, three, four
- 23:01Speaker 1: guys up here And that sometimes struggles with the defense.
- 23:07Speaker 1: When you have four like that, where are you going
- 23:08Speaker 1: to go? Backside. It's the classic. I was watching Varsity Blues.
- 23:12Speaker 1: The oop-do-oop. Overload them on this side and burn them
- 23:16Speaker 1: one-on-one on the backside. Mississippi Valley State used to do it.
- 23:18Speaker 1: I watched it on the play. That's how I pull.
- 23:21Speaker 1: But it's true. It really is. This is such a
- 23:24Speaker 1: nice job. So many different areas. It's like... This is
- 23:32Speaker 1: actually a really nice play on a couple different reasons. One,
- 23:35Speaker 1: you have this deep dog route, 18 yards, if you
- 23:39Speaker 1: just want to play around with it. It's a long
- 23:41Speaker 1: throw to the field. Then you have this dagger route.
- 23:44Speaker 1: You have a shallow cross by Loveland, and you have
- 23:47Speaker 1: a seam. The seam does nothing. You want to throw
- 23:50Speaker 1: this mainly if you're getting this one-on-one. You're putting everyone
- 23:55Speaker 1: to this top side, and you read it high to low,
- 23:58Speaker 1: one to two, And this can be an alert if
- 24:01Speaker 1: everything pushes this way coverage-wise. But he knows exactly what
- 24:06Speaker 1: he wants to do. Move this safety or get back
- 24:10Speaker 1: the safety. I mean, they got to get right here.
- 24:12Speaker 1: These throws like this, the timing and the rhythm, Roma
- 24:15Speaker 1: Dunze's route, all this stuff, it's good. See how he
- 24:18Speaker 1: gets this like a little release, pumps in. This is
- 24:21Speaker 1: next level to me. This is really, really good. So
- 24:25Speaker 1: look how many guys are on the opposite side. Just
- 24:28Speaker 1: got to worry about this. Let's watch his eyes. You're
- 24:30Speaker 1: going here to help with protection. One, two, three, four, five. Hitch.
- 24:36Speaker 1: There's one hitch. And he's looking right at there. There's Mike.
- 24:41Speaker 1: Just make sure this Mike stays this way. Usually the
- 24:45Speaker 1: dagger this way. Not so fast. There is the hole
- 24:49Speaker 1: of the defense right here. How do we get a
- 24:51Speaker 1: guy over there? Well, let's bring two. Let's bring Colston.
- 24:54Speaker 1: And then this guy, Romadunze, who's pretty good in his
- 24:56Speaker 1: own right. Next play. All right. Start Cole Komet here.
- 25:01Speaker 1: Then you're going to motion over. So look at all
- 25:03Speaker 1: this stuff. Now you get into a two tight end set,
- 25:05Speaker 1: a wing set. Probably going to motion again knowing them. Oh,
- 25:09Speaker 1: they don't. They snap it. Heavy play action out of
- 25:11Speaker 1: two tight end. This is the ball that Troy Aikman
- 25:16Speaker 1: said gyrated. If you haven't heard what gyrated means, well,
- 25:20Speaker 1: it just means that it's spinning so fast that it's
- 25:23Speaker 1: moving up and down. There's nothing special about this other
- 25:26Speaker 1: than just him knowing where to go and the type
- 25:29Speaker 1: of throw it is, right? So you get two tight
- 25:32Speaker 1: ends here. You have to understand one, the nickels to
- 25:36Speaker 1: this side. So he's probably pressuring because the nickel didn't
- 25:39Speaker 1: travel with everything. And then they get into like this
- 25:42Speaker 1: four cheat look where you're going this way. So there's
- 25:46Speaker 1: three guys up there, a receiver and two tight ends.
- 25:49Speaker 1: It's just one-on-one with Luther Burton. And then the route,
- 25:53Speaker 1: everything about it, right? You go slow, then you go
- 25:56Speaker 1: not so fast. Just make sure, hey, the nickel decided
- 26:00Speaker 1: not to pressure, even though he's supposed to, purely based
- 26:04Speaker 1: on this stunt going inside. So now you just got
- 26:08Speaker 1: to throw this. It's excellent. Nice job of understanding. Get
- 26:12Speaker 1: your eyes back here. Everything's pushing this way. It's one-on-one.
- 26:17Speaker 1: Such a nice job. Called a comeback route. I mean,
- 26:23Speaker 1: it's just playing catch. It looks so easy, but there's
- 26:25Speaker 1: so many different things and dynamics that go into it.
- 26:27Speaker 1: All right, here we go. All right, not so fast.
- 26:32Speaker 1: Where's the nickel? Is that the nickel? It's just so
- 26:35Speaker 1: many different numbers don't matter. Then they're all over here.
- 26:38Speaker 1: You just want to get this, right? Get under center.
- 26:42Speaker 1: Look where his eyes go. Right away, snap that head back.
- 26:45Speaker 1: Find this guy. Okay, there's no way he can get
- 26:48Speaker 1: over there based on the way he's playing. This corner
- 26:50Speaker 1: should be outside leverage. Look how quickly he's still just
- 26:54Speaker 1: like looking. And he's holding not only to see this,
- 26:57Speaker 1: he's got that, but now he's holding here. And he
- 26:59Speaker 1: sees this guy right there, not do it. And then
- 27:01Speaker 1: all in one motion, you're able to throw this football
- 27:04Speaker 1: at an extremely high spin rate. Just really good. Let's
- 27:10Speaker 1: watch it from this view. Watch his eyes. Eyes go
- 27:15Speaker 1: to the safety. Then they go here. Then they're like, okay,
- 27:19Speaker 1: we can throw outside. So good. So good. Got to
- 27:23Speaker 1: give Luther Burton some love, too. Look at that run
- 27:24Speaker 1: after catch. Plus 10 on catch. All right, second and four.
- 27:27Speaker 1: Full house backfield. 12 personnel is what they want to
- 27:30Speaker 1: get to. Sorry, they're in 13 personnel. Right? I thought
- 27:37Speaker 1: this was really good. Nothing special here other than just
- 27:39Speaker 1: showing his hamstring. Understanding, hey, we got to get going
- 27:42Speaker 1: with it. Understanding that he can still move. I like
- 27:48Speaker 1: that they're in 13. That's a tight end. That's a
- 27:49Speaker 1: tight end. That's a tight end. Out route. Inside release, dagger,
- 27:54Speaker 1: reading one to two. But also just understanding, hey, it's
- 27:58Speaker 1: second and four. We're taking a shot down the football field.
- 28:00Speaker 1: Pretty good protection. Just got to get the first. It
- 28:03Speaker 1: looked like any other quarterback would throw this away. He
- 28:06Speaker 1: throws it and sticks it right on DeAndre Swift. So good. Right?
- 28:10Speaker 1: Swift is going to be out here. You're going to
- 28:11Speaker 1: have this here. I just like this a lot. I
- 28:14Speaker 1: like the play. It just seems so nonchalant in the stats.
- 28:22Speaker 1: But like, he might be blocking. What's he not? Nope,
- 28:25Speaker 1: let's just throw it right to him. You literally put
- 28:27Speaker 1: it on him. That's really good. All right, next play.
- 28:31Speaker 1: Got to hustle to the line of scrimmage. Set hut, right?
- 28:33Speaker 1: Quickly figure out what they do. A little play fake. Oh,
- 28:37Speaker 1: he missed this one. Oh, he missed this one so much.
- 28:39Speaker 1: This could have been touchdown number two. Pretty simple. Going
- 28:45Speaker 1: to block this in. Fake here to there. So Khalif
- 28:49Speaker 1: has a really important job. Rome's going to go there.
- 28:52Speaker 1: You're going to go switch release down. I mean, that's
- 28:54Speaker 1: just good luck. There's two guys over here to cover it.
- 28:58Speaker 1: Ain't no way. No way. Completely left open. And I
- 29:02Speaker 1: don't know. I don't know how this doesn't end up
- 29:04Speaker 1: in a touchdown. I think for me, Colson has to
- 29:09Speaker 1: have a really good feel of space. You can't do
- 29:12Speaker 1: this any better, right? You're reversing out here, their pressure.
- 29:16Speaker 1: He's really technically got him. You got two on one, right?
- 29:21Speaker 1: Trying to get outside. I don't know why he just
- 29:26Speaker 1: doesn't stop. Like, this is crazy to me. It's a
- 29:29Speaker 1: miss by everyone. Oh, he wants this one back so much.
- 29:33Speaker 1: It's bad. Third and one. Another quad set. Another break
- 29:37Speaker 1: the huddle fast. I like that. There's the... there's the
- 29:40Speaker 1: running back so when you do that these guys are
- 29:43Speaker 1: still moving look at everyone's still moving on the snap
- 29:45Speaker 1: good luck trying to cover it and of course something's
- 29:48Speaker 1: going to come open like it just it has to
- 29:50Speaker 1: when you go this fast so i like it you're
- 29:55Speaker 1: going to have an outside shallow cross he's going to
- 29:58Speaker 1: go here you're going to run a a curl in here.
- 30:01Speaker 1: So there's a lot of different ways. Man to man,
- 30:03Speaker 1: that's here. If you got zone, you're here. Man, you
- 30:05Speaker 1: can go here. And an outflank's right there. So many
- 30:08Speaker 1: different ways to get it. And they're rushing five. Nice job, too,
- 30:13Speaker 1: in the pocket move. Look at this. You're getting pushed back.
- 30:15Speaker 1: Left tackle. It's all right. Find a way. Boom. Throw it.
- 30:19Speaker 1: Get upfield. So good. So you see how quickly they're up.
- 30:25Speaker 1: Doesn't even wait for it. Center just looks both ways. Hey,
- 30:28Speaker 1: we're just going. He looks right. He looks left. Boom.
- 30:31Speaker 1: Get set. Go. Quickly. Called cheat account. 58. Not good.
- 30:36Speaker 1: Go out there. 79. Not good. Got to have a
- 30:39Speaker 1: high plant leg throw on this one. I like that
- 30:43Speaker 1: they're all on it. Right? He doesn't even call for hut. Boom, boom.
- 30:50Speaker 1: No one's there. So good. Game planning. All right. Another
- 30:55Speaker 1: third and short, fourth and short. This is fourth and two.
- 30:57Speaker 1: You go here. All right. Overload front. Are they pressuring?
- 31:00Speaker 1: Are they not? It looks to be man-to-man coverage. Where's
- 31:03Speaker 1: your best matchup? That's what you need to be thinking
- 31:05Speaker 1: as a quarterback. Where's your best matchup? All right. They're
- 31:08Speaker 1: bringing six. Come on. It's so good. It's just why read?
- 31:18Speaker 1: Bringing everything this way. Why read? Just lean on them.
- 31:20Speaker 1: Go six to eight yards. Lean on them. And then
- 31:24Speaker 1: it's just on... Caleb Williams, to get it to your
- 31:27Speaker 1: guy right out the break. Look when he's throwing this thing.
- 31:30Speaker 1: Ball's already out. Throws it to him. Puts it right
- 31:34Speaker 1: on him. Makes him catch it. That is so good.
- 31:41Speaker 1: Understanding the down and distance. Coming over here. Overload front,
- 31:45Speaker 1: which means there's three on one side right here. Going
- 31:48Speaker 1: to end up bringing double pressure. It is mano-a-mano with
- 31:51Speaker 1: man-to-man coverage. Can you beat him? Watch how fast, quickly
- 31:56Speaker 1: he throws this. Already starting his throw. That ain't open.
- 32:00Speaker 1: That's not open. But can you throw your guy open?
- 32:03Speaker 1: Can you trust? Now look at the separation. Can you
- 32:05Speaker 1: trust on him? Can you lean on him? Yes, you can.
- 32:09Speaker 1: Got to look at it from this view. His mechanics.
- 32:12Speaker 1: Doesn't look like he missed a beat at all. Truly. Boom, boom.
- 32:18Speaker 1: Already starting to throw. Put it on him. Burst down.
- 32:24Speaker 1: That's why Ben Johnson trusts him. Next play, first and 10.
- 32:26Speaker 1: A couple more right here. Speed sweep motion. Play action. Open. Oh,
- 32:33Speaker 1: this play. This play is so good on so many
- 32:36Speaker 1: different levels. A couple things. Luther Burden's great. Roma Dunes,
- 32:41Speaker 1: a love of the game route. Okay, post route from
- 32:44Speaker 1: inside the numbers. Split the difference hash in numbers. You're
- 32:47Speaker 1: going to have Kalief come in, go out, and then
- 32:51Speaker 1: back in just a little bit to grab the flat defender.
- 32:54Speaker 1: And then you're going to throw a corner route between it.
- 32:57Speaker 1: They're playing a version of cover two. So it's a
- 33:02Speaker 1: tricky different type of two. That's the corner. He's going
- 33:04Speaker 1: to go back to the half field safety. When he
- 33:06Speaker 1: goes back to the half field safety, who's going to
- 33:08Speaker 1: be out here to be the cloud corner? It's the
- 33:10Speaker 1: nickel right here. So that's going to be the coverage.
- 33:14Speaker 1: All right. But I want you to watch. Play fake.
- 33:17Speaker 1: The play fake gets all these guys up right here.
- 33:21Speaker 1: And then you're throwing this. You've got to fit it
- 33:22Speaker 1: between the corner, who's now the safety, and the nickel,
- 33:26Speaker 1: who's now the corner. You guys follow me? See how
- 33:28Speaker 1: much stuff goes through a quarterback's head? And then you've
- 33:32Speaker 1: got to throw this thing, I mean, between these three guys.
- 33:37Speaker 1: And you've got to get up. You know you're going
- 33:38Speaker 1: to get hit. That's called trust, man. So good. Motion over.
- 33:45Speaker 1: Looks like single high zone to me. S-H-Z. Not so fast.
- 33:49Speaker 1: It's not. Okay, good play fake. And you're like, Chase,
- 33:55Speaker 1: why is he doing that right there? He's trying to
- 33:57Speaker 1: get that corner to jump down. Just throw it over
- 34:01Speaker 1: this guy. You can't be right. That's perfect. It looks
- 34:07Speaker 1: so easy. It's not. You got to have the cojones
- 34:11Speaker 1: to throw that one to the field. Nice play fake. Boom, boom.
- 34:16Speaker 1: Look at this. Drops it in between two defenders, really
- 34:19Speaker 1: three defenders. Perfectly thrown football. Luther, you know you're going
- 34:22Speaker 1: to get hit. Don't matter. First down. Last play. Okay,
- 34:26Speaker 1: get up, get set. 12 personnel, what they like. Move
- 34:29Speaker 1: them on over. All right, 40-yard line. Move them over.
- 34:35Speaker 1: Here we go. That's open. Got to throw it. Got
- 34:39Speaker 1: to throw it. All right, go through here. Oh, line's
- 34:42Speaker 1: a little leaky. Move left and throw it. This is
- 34:44Speaker 1: the one that I thought he wanted back. but a
- 34:47Speaker 1: nice job moving right here to figure it out. And
- 34:52Speaker 1: you just, you can't take a sack in this situation
- 34:54Speaker 1: this late in the game. They have everything set up perfectly.
- 34:57Speaker 1: I don't like this. I hate this whirlybird block where
- 35:01Speaker 1: the guard takes over and the center's whirlybirding. You don't
- 35:04Speaker 1: need that because that's open. And if he has some
- 35:08Speaker 1: type of protection, it's there. So this one is not
- 35:11Speaker 1: on Caleb, but you cannot take a sack. I'm not
- 35:14Speaker 1: a big fan of this whirlybird block. blocking by this
- 35:17Speaker 1: guard you have a head up nose by the center
- 35:20Speaker 1: and guard let's watch how this plays out so you
- 35:27Speaker 1: really have four hands and this is the guy that's
- 35:29Speaker 1: getting free if you were able to block and set
- 35:32Speaker 1: them up and just move right there and throw that
- 35:33Speaker 1: it'd be good but the Bears get a huge huge
- 35:36Speaker 1: win Caleb Williams cannot take a sack all right guys
- 35:39Speaker 1: see that the tape speaks for itself played unbelievable now
- 35:42Speaker 1: let's get into a guy We have yet to break
- 35:45Speaker 1: down this year. His name is Bo Nix. Bo Nix,
- 35:48Speaker 1: Thursday night game versus Seahawks. I don't do many negative videos,
- 35:53Speaker 1: and I just want to show you what Bo Nix
- 35:56Speaker 1: is going through. It is not easy. He is not
- 35:59Speaker 1: seeing the field at all right now very well. He
- 36:03Speaker 1: is struggling to get completions. His footwork is off. I
- 36:07Speaker 1: just got to show you on film. Let's get into it.
- 36:09Speaker 1: All right, we got to do it. We got to
- 36:11Speaker 1: break down Bo Nix. I haven't done it this year.
- 36:14Speaker 1: It's probably worse than you think, but there's some hope
- 36:19Speaker 1: as well. We got eight plays here. Just isn't seeing
- 36:22Speaker 1: the field well at all. Let's just get into it.
- 36:24Speaker 1: First of all, this is a very good team. Let
- 36:27Speaker 1: me rephrase that. This is a very good Seattle defense.
- 36:32Speaker 1: And so they put him in a blender from maybe
- 36:36Speaker 1: it's all up. There's seven guys, one, two, three, four, five, six,
- 36:40Speaker 1: seven guys all up. first dropping in coverage. They play
- 36:43Speaker 1: too high shell a lot. It's a lot like Vance
- 36:45Speaker 1: Joseph's defense, but better, even though Vance Joseph has a
- 36:49Speaker 1: heck of a defense right now, um, in terms of
- 36:51Speaker 1: just giving you different looks and like what you're supposed
- 36:54Speaker 1: to look for and everything like that. So let's just
- 36:57Speaker 1: get into it. Right. So here's the thing I saw
- 37:00Speaker 1: him trying to control at the line of scrimmage. I
- 37:02Speaker 1: think it's great. All right. I think Sean Payton, um,
- 37:06Speaker 1: calling back the place. I think it's great. Did I
- 37:08Speaker 1: think Davis would have been a horrible job? No. Um,
- 37:11Speaker 1: But there are a lot of different things that you
- 37:13Speaker 1: could say about Bo Nix, and we'll get into it.
- 37:19Speaker 1: So here's one right here. So it's third down. It's
- 37:23Speaker 1: the first third down of the game. You're not bringing
- 37:28Speaker 1: a bunch of pressure. You're dropping guys out. You're only
- 37:31Speaker 1: bringing five. But it's the type of pressure that they do.
- 37:34Speaker 1: It's a pick stunt. You get the center to go
- 37:36Speaker 1: this way, and you pick stunt away from it. They
- 37:38Speaker 1: did this all game long. And with Bo, it's his feet. Okay,
- 37:44Speaker 1: quick feet. I mean, this is an unbelievable play. It's
- 37:47Speaker 1: a little out route right there. And they're playing like
- 37:51Speaker 1: this quarters palms look where this guy can read, but
- 37:55Speaker 1: this guy has the wall number two. Pretty simple route concept.
- 37:59Speaker 1: It's a deep corner. It's an out route. It's a
- 38:02Speaker 1: stop and a wrap. So you want to read at
- 38:05Speaker 1: one to two. to three, anytime he's gotten through his
- 38:08Speaker 1: second or third progression in the film that I've watched,
- 38:12Speaker 1: his feet just get jumpy. So Jalen Waddell needs to
- 38:18Speaker 1: get more involved. That's the correct throw, but it's not there.
- 38:23Speaker 1: This footwork here wasn't bad, I don't think. And so
- 38:27Speaker 1: as soon as they see like here, and this is
- 38:30Speaker 1: just the defense, then they automatically do a pick stunt
- 38:33Speaker 1: over here, which means You're picking here to get Leonard
- 38:37Speaker 1: Williams to go here, and then Tyler Beatty has to
- 38:39Speaker 1: pick him up. That is a complete mismatch. Why are
- 38:42Speaker 1: they doing that? Well, when the center goes this way,
- 38:44Speaker 1: these two have to stay here, and you're thinking here. No,
- 38:46Speaker 1: not so fast. This is so good on so many
- 38:49Speaker 1: different ways from the Seahawks. This is the first third
- 38:51Speaker 1: down of the game. So watch what 13 does. Right there,
- 38:56Speaker 1: it gets after it, gets picked, and so you have
- 39:00Speaker 1: one read. And if that read's not open... then it's
- 39:03Speaker 1: just not gonna be great for you. And that's exactly
- 39:05Speaker 1: what happens with Bo Nix on this. They're almost towards
- 39:08Speaker 1: the interception. Love does a nice job there. All right,
- 39:11Speaker 1: next play, second and two. Four-man front, but see this shell.
- 39:15Speaker 1: The shell coverage is what we're gonna call it. It's
- 39:18Speaker 1: this too high, it looks like a turtle shell over everything,
- 39:21Speaker 1: so it's really difficult to get plays down the field.
- 39:27Speaker 1: Here's this. This is a run all the way. They're
- 39:31Speaker 1: lucky they didn't get called for a legal man downfield
- 39:34Speaker 1: because I want you to watch this. I mean, this
- 39:36Speaker 1: is literally just it's zone read. You're reading here, going here,
- 39:40Speaker 1: having him pull across, have him crack down. It's a
- 39:43Speaker 1: zone read. 14 is cracking. We call it wham on this.
- 39:47Speaker 1: Like it's like quarterback read wham and the wham will
- 39:49Speaker 1: tell you to wham down. He goes around here. You
- 39:52Speaker 1: just got to beat right here. Look at 14. That's awesome.
- 39:56Speaker 1: Really nice job. Like this, this is not, they're lucky.
- 40:02Speaker 1: They didn't get, this is not a pass. And so
- 40:05Speaker 1: it's just a bigger microcosm of the season. It's like, Hey,
- 40:07Speaker 1: I like that there. I like that they're getting rid
- 40:09Speaker 1: of it, but this is man, this, This is lucky
- 40:13Speaker 1: right here that they didn't get called for a legal
- 40:18Speaker 1: man downfield with 77. So you're just reading here. There
- 40:21Speaker 1: we go. You have 45 coming to lead across. You're
- 40:25Speaker 1: wham blocking this Will Linebacker right here. So you have
- 40:27Speaker 1: a pretty good play, but the team speed is pretty
- 40:30Speaker 1: good too. He's able to play two. Really, that looks
- 40:34Speaker 1: good on paper, but it's just the team speed. And
- 40:36Speaker 1: he tries to throw this to 12. I've never seen it.
- 40:39Speaker 1: I mean, I guess it's a good play because no
- 40:41Speaker 1: one's downfield. But there is people downfield. So you just
- 40:45Speaker 1: got to... It's better than a loss. I get that.
- 40:47Speaker 1: It's the same third and two. Maybe they're calling. I
- 40:51Speaker 1: don't know. Maybe they called it. I don't remember. But
- 40:53Speaker 1: he's absolutely down the field. All right. Next play. Going
- 40:57Speaker 1: to get ever in motion. They're using new terminology. They
- 41:00Speaker 1: changed the terminology. It's changed like 30 to 40% of
- 41:03Speaker 1: the terminology from Davis Webb. Now it's John Payton. All right.
- 41:09Speaker 1: Play action fake. So... This might seem like a deep
- 41:14Speaker 1: foul ball to you and I get it. Here's a
- 41:18Speaker 1: little bit of the issue for me. It's a perfectly,
- 41:21Speaker 1: and I say it's a little issue, but it's a
- 41:23Speaker 1: small issue that can become big. I want you to
- 41:25Speaker 1: count footsteps. Okay, this should be a eight step drop. One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, 10.
- 41:34Speaker 1: It's 10. It's 10. Look how deep he's back. That
- 41:39Speaker 1: just tells me he didn't trust the protection. And, you know,
- 41:44Speaker 1: the little small movements unnecessary right here. I think it's
- 41:48Speaker 1: just like we're being we're being critical. Rightfully so. People
- 41:51Speaker 1: want to understand what's going on in Denver. Even when
- 41:53Speaker 1: the things are there and even when you have a
- 41:55Speaker 1: chance is there. I mean, this is a perfectly drawn
- 41:57Speaker 1: up play call. They're going to send 14 right here.
- 42:01Speaker 1: They're going to send a post right there. You're just
- 42:04Speaker 1: reading here. If he drops down here, you're launching the post.
- 42:07Speaker 1: If he stays back, you're throwing to Sutton. And I
- 42:11Speaker 1: like how they get leverage on 21 to hit this post.
- 42:17Speaker 1: But it's just, like, throw it now. First of all,
- 42:22Speaker 1: you know you're there. And then throw it over here.
- 42:25Speaker 1: I'm not sure what he's being taught. Can't tell you.
- 42:27Speaker 1: But throw it over there. The Broncos have a really
- 42:33Speaker 1: good team. I actually don't think their offensive line is
- 42:36Speaker 1: playing that bad, to be completely honest with you. But
- 42:38Speaker 1: this is a 10-step drop. See that extra? And there's
- 42:42Speaker 1: the pocket you want to snuggle up there. Nice job
- 42:44Speaker 1: by 14 just getting open. I mean, you can absolutely
- 42:48Speaker 1: launch that right there. But I love the fact that
- 42:50Speaker 1: he's taking a shot down the field. I really do.
- 42:52Speaker 1: Because that's the read. The safety is the read. Throw
- 42:55Speaker 1: it across the field. Right? Throw it across the field.
- 42:59Speaker 1: Which he does. And it's a close throw. But I
- 43:02Speaker 1: think this is mainly to look at his footwork and
- 43:07Speaker 1: his rhythm. That's a pocket now, boys. You're moving a
- 43:13Speaker 1: little bit into the pressure. Move back in here. Easier
- 43:17Speaker 1: said than done, Chase. I understand. I'm just trying to
- 43:21Speaker 1: help get a sense of what's not working right now
- 43:24Speaker 1: for the Broncos. Let's look it up from this view.
- 43:26Speaker 1: Maybe we can see his... He's trying to get away
- 43:28Speaker 1: from this rush. I understand that. But when you take
- 43:31Speaker 1: a 10-step drop, just a little bit extra, and then, like, right,
- 43:36Speaker 1: you just want to snuggle up in that area and launch.
- 43:39Speaker 1: Nice job, right? QB vision. On the safety. Awesome job.
- 43:43Speaker 1: Excellent work. Just moves over just that slight little hitch
- 43:46Speaker 1: right there. Almost had it. All right, second and eight.
- 43:52Speaker 1: Next play up. Three by one formation. Get right here.
- 43:55Speaker 1: Another two-eye shell look. So it is hard to get
- 43:58Speaker 1: fine completions. They have five guys underneath, two guys deep.
- 44:02Speaker 1: Here's the thing, though. When this pass rush gets going,
- 44:04Speaker 1: it's hard to attack the middle field and these honey
- 44:06Speaker 1: hole areas, which are circled. All those areas. So you
- 44:09Speaker 1: got to pick and choose when you got to get
- 44:10Speaker 1: down So this is, I mean, this is a miss,
- 44:17Speaker 1: complete miss. A couple different things. One, you're calling this
- 44:23Speaker 1: 84 protection. For them, it's seven-man protection. So you have
- 44:27Speaker 1: an extra two hands here. You have an extra two
- 44:29Speaker 1: hands here. Seven-man pro. All right. They call this corner,
- 44:35Speaker 1: a little choice route. You can break in if you want.
- 44:37Speaker 1: You can sit out. But if you like this one-on-one matchup,
- 44:41Speaker 1: they'll put a single guy back here. It's just a little...
- 44:43Speaker 1: Harvey route, comeback route, stop route, whatever you want to
- 44:46Speaker 1: call it. And his eyes go exactly where they should.
- 44:49Speaker 1: His eyes go here. Love goes this way. So to me,
- 44:53Speaker 1: it's like a cover six push a little bit, which
- 44:56Speaker 1: means it's just one-on-one back here. It's cloud right here.
- 44:59Speaker 1: They took it away. This is the exact right place
- 45:02Speaker 1: to go with football. No issue with that. That's open.
- 45:05Speaker 1: And it's a really good route. I don't know if
- 45:07Speaker 1: the communication between the receiver... And quarterback is off. But
- 45:16Speaker 1: what I know about this offense is this is what
- 45:21Speaker 1: we call a nine-yard stop route in that offense. And
- 45:25Speaker 1: the footwork should be as such. If it's press, quick three,
- 45:29Speaker 1: quick hitch, throw. Quick three, one, two, three, quick hitch,
- 45:34Speaker 1: throw to allow him to come out. Let's see it. One, two, three, four, five. Like, what?
- 45:41Speaker 1: I think he takes five? One, two, three, four, five.
- 45:43Speaker 1: It's a five-step drop, no hitch, falling back away from
- 45:46Speaker 1: the target. This is what he struggled with a little bit,
- 45:52Speaker 1: and this is what he's continued to struggle. Let's watch
- 45:55Speaker 1: from this view. This is what he's continued to struggle
- 45:57Speaker 1: with a little bit too, right? 84 protection. I like
- 46:04Speaker 1: how he's looking them off, but also there's nothing that
- 46:08Speaker 1: can get under this throw You want to put your
- 46:10Speaker 1: eyes here. One, two, three, quick hitch throw. If this
- 46:13Speaker 1: was off coverage on that side, it'd be one, two, three,
- 46:16Speaker 1: no hitch. This looks like a five. One, two, three, four, five.
- 46:22Speaker 1: Foot is pointing this way. Doesn't open his shoulders. And
- 46:26Speaker 1: then as you're throwing, you're falling away from it. I
- 46:31Speaker 1: just think the footwork wasn't great. Actually, I know it
- 46:34Speaker 1: wasn't great. Simple Harvey route throw. Nine yard stop route.
- 46:40Speaker 1: Got to be better. See that extra little step? That matters.
- 46:46Speaker 1: That matters in this defense. Or in this offense. Alright,
- 46:49Speaker 1: next play. 2x2 formation. You send a little motion just
- 46:55Speaker 1: to gather information. You come up to the line of scrimmage.
- 46:58Speaker 1: Mic them. Got it right. It's awesome. Take a throw.
- 47:03Speaker 1: Got to give yourself a chance. I like it though, PI.
- 47:08Speaker 1: This tells me that you're really thinking it. and that
- 47:11Speaker 1: you're really trying to push the football down the field.
- 47:14Speaker 1: Tight split. These are out routes that turn into go routes.
- 47:19Speaker 1: And he's just taking his guy one-on-one. It's an out
- 47:21Speaker 1: right here by Waddle, out right here by Ingram. These
- 47:26Speaker 1: are where you want to go. But I like the
- 47:28Speaker 1: fact that you're seeing pressure. You are changing the play. No,
- 47:33Speaker 1: you're not changing the play. You're changing the protection. Awesome job.
- 47:36Speaker 1: And you're taking a shot. And this is what happens.
- 47:39Speaker 1: But see right here, even though you're falling back a
- 47:42Speaker 1: little bit, you're not stepping into your throws. See how
- 47:45Speaker 1: he's falling back a little bit? And so he's a
- 47:46Speaker 1: little bit less inaccurate. I like that you're taking a
- 47:50Speaker 1: shot because I think that's really important. But I think
- 47:53Speaker 1: that he needs to figure out a way to put
- 47:57Speaker 1: this on him and on the line. And look, it's
- 48:00Speaker 1: hard because it's right hash. It's a very difficult throw.
- 48:03Speaker 1: Just these small little details. It's fixable. It really is.
- 48:07Speaker 1: And Just got to have a couple games of success
- 48:11Speaker 1: and to get that confidence going because this is an
- 48:13Speaker 1: offense that can put up some points. I mean, we've
- 48:14Speaker 1: seen it with Sean Payton. Just got to put up
- 48:16Speaker 1: some points. Right? And doesn't even give him a chance.
- 48:22Speaker 1: Right there. Point it. Here we go. One, two. See
- 48:27Speaker 1: how he's falling back a little bit? Just can't have
- 48:29Speaker 1: that happen. Alright, here we go. Next play. Third and six.
- 48:34Speaker 1: Pretty good job so far. There's some issues, but Don't
- 48:39Speaker 1: mind it. Two-by-two formation. See what they're doing. Open. It's open.
- 48:43Speaker 1: And look, this is something where it's difficult because they're
- 48:52Speaker 1: bringing five. They're playing like they're pressuring five. They're running
- 48:59Speaker 1: this double corner route, this sail route right here. This
- 49:03Speaker 1: is going to be open. And if you don't trust
- 49:05Speaker 1: protection and you can't see it right there, you're gonna
- 49:08Speaker 1: get away with it, and you just throw that away.
- 49:11Speaker 1: And that's sort of a waste of a, so you've
- 49:14Speaker 1: got this this backwards, sorry, the scissors route right here.
- 49:18Speaker 1: And you're going to go to the corner as well.
- 49:21Speaker 1: You're not seeing it too much, but then there's leakage.
- 49:24Speaker 1: It's just, it's not just all bow necks. It's just like,
- 49:27Speaker 1: that's open. Like it just takes a little bit too
- 49:31Speaker 1: long and he's escaping on the pocket. Can you step
- 49:33Speaker 1: up and just sort of try to figure that out
- 49:36Speaker 1: and throw that? It's a difficult task. I mean, look,
- 49:42Speaker 1: they're doing all sorts of stuff. They're twisting. They're doing
- 49:44Speaker 1: all sorts of things. Let's see from this view if
- 49:47Speaker 1: you think he could probably step up and do this. One, two, three, four, five, right?
- 49:54Speaker 1: That's a tough, right? You're getting edged. You're trying to
- 49:56Speaker 1: come off. Is there any way, though, you can try
- 50:00Speaker 1: to step into that as you're getting hit and throw that?
- 50:04Speaker 1: I've seen them do it before. Sure enough, I really have.
- 50:08Speaker 1: I've seen him do it. I've seen him step into it.
- 50:11Speaker 1: See how the first step's always back instead of up
- 50:13Speaker 1: and out? Even if he went that way and moved
- 50:16Speaker 1: that way, at least you got a little bit of
- 50:17Speaker 1: orange right there. Because 19 is, that's wide open in
- 50:20Speaker 1: the NFL. Said he just throws it away. Right? So
- 50:25Speaker 1: you get edged right here. You end up getting, I
- 50:27Speaker 1: would love for him to see him step up there.
- 50:29Speaker 1: It's a five-step drop. I mean, even when he's at
- 50:32Speaker 1: the five-step, he sees color. He sees the blue jerseys.
- 50:34Speaker 1: I get this one a little bit, but can you just...
- 50:37Speaker 1: Try to figure out a way to step up and
- 50:39Speaker 1: do that. And honestly, there's a way this game's being played,
- 50:42Speaker 1: and right now they're playing good defense. All right, a
- 50:44Speaker 1: couple more plays right here. They're close. They are. Let's see.
- 50:51Speaker 1: That is going right here. And then, like, what do
- 50:55Speaker 1: you want to do right here? You're just getting beat.
- 50:58Speaker 1: Right tackle right there. There ain't nothing there. Nice job, though,
- 51:02Speaker 1: using your legs right here. I thought this was a
- 51:03Speaker 1: plus play. You can't go out of bounds, though, like that.
- 51:06Speaker 1: Throw the football away. That's a sack, right? I like
- 51:12Speaker 1: the play they're running. They're getting to a different way.
- 51:15Speaker 1: You're running a rail route, a dagger route there and
- 51:19Speaker 1: right here. And so you're really trying to look, hey,
- 51:21Speaker 1: this is an alert, got to happen right now. That's two,
- 51:25Speaker 1: that's three. But when you have, and you're automatically like
- 51:28Speaker 1: getting out of it right here, this isn't on bow, right?
- 51:31Speaker 1: Tackle just misses. That's probably where the football goes. So
- 51:35Speaker 1: you're seeing stuff that is open down the field. It's
- 51:37Speaker 1: not just Bowie's trying to get out of it, but
- 51:39Speaker 1: you got to throw this football away. Like you're openly
- 51:43Speaker 1: losing four yards on a sack. This is unacceptable. And
- 51:50Speaker 1: I know what Sean Payton and Davis Webb and them
- 51:51Speaker 1: guys are saying. You can't do that. So it's a
- 51:55Speaker 1: little bit of everything, right? You get beat right here.
- 51:58Speaker 1: 69 gets beat, and then you don't throw the football away.
- 52:02Speaker 1: Just can't happen. Looks like he tries to punch right there.
- 52:07Speaker 1: Doesn't finish. Gets rounded right there. Ah, not great, right?
- 52:12Speaker 1: Throw the football away, though. I don't know. Nothing else
- 52:18Speaker 1: we can say. All right, second and five. Last play
- 52:21Speaker 1: right here. This is an OT, right? You're on the
- 52:23Speaker 1: edge of field goal range. What can you not do?
- 52:25Speaker 1: You can't take sacks. So you can motion over here.
- 52:27Speaker 1: Got to have your best play call for this. They're
- 52:29Speaker 1: still in this two-eye shell look that we're seeing. Middle
- 52:32Speaker 1: of the field's open. Nice job using the legs. At
- 52:37Speaker 1: least you used your legs to get there. Nothing's open, though.
- 52:40Speaker 1: This is what I'm trying to show you on this.
- 52:43Speaker 1: Ain't nothing open. They're triangling these three over here. You're
- 52:49Speaker 1: trying to go there to there, and then you're running
- 52:51Speaker 1: a stop route or a deep dog route is what
- 52:55Speaker 1: you call it at 18 yards. You're doubled there. I
- 52:59Speaker 1: don't know where you're supposed to go on this. Covered, covered,
- 53:03Speaker 1: backs matched, covered. I mean, maybe there, and that's where
- 53:08Speaker 1: he's going. That's tight to me with him going underneath it.
- 53:13Speaker 1: That's where he tries to do it, but a nice job.
- 53:15Speaker 1: At least he goes up in the pocket, gets a
- 53:17Speaker 1: few yards, gets into field goal range for Will Lutz.
- 53:20Speaker 1: I thought this play was good. I don't think anything's
- 53:23Speaker 1: open on this play. And so it's a little bit
- 53:25Speaker 1: of both. It's a little bit of Bo. It's a
- 53:27Speaker 1: little bit of the O-line. The only Russian three. I
- 53:29Speaker 1: like this right here. Big nasty. Oh, gets Leonard right there.
- 53:33Speaker 1: I don't think he can throw that. And I think
- 53:37Speaker 1: he just gets to him too quickly too for him
- 53:39Speaker 1: to do that. So he goes through it. Over there
- 53:41Speaker 1: is one, over there is two. Let's see his footwork. One, two, three.
- 53:46Speaker 1: If you already know you're going this on this deep
- 53:49Speaker 1: dog route, here's the one thing. It should be a
- 53:51Speaker 1: five-step drop. But sometimes they have both. So you got
- 53:54Speaker 1: to get this ready. He's ready to throw. You can
- 53:58Speaker 1: still see his feet. He ain't ready to receive it.
- 54:01Speaker 1: So he just has to take off up through the pocket.
- 54:04Speaker 1: All right, guys, see the film speaks for itself. A
- 54:06Speaker 1: lot of misses. They got to get better. They're talking
- 54:09Speaker 1: about probably benching him. Don't bench him. He's not the problem.
- 54:12Speaker 1: He can come back from this, but they got to
- 54:14Speaker 1: figure it out right now. All right, let's get into
- 54:16Speaker 1: the last video. It's Bryce Young. Bryce Young. We talked
- 54:19Speaker 1: about it. Bryce Young showed up on the top six list.
- 54:21Speaker 1: I thought he played extremely, extremely well. He was number
- 54:25Speaker 1: six on our list. And I just thought the timing,
- 54:30Speaker 1: the distribution of the football, and the way he got
- 54:32Speaker 1: his playmakers involved was really the difference. Let's get into
- 54:35Speaker 1: it right now. All right, Bryce Young. Haven't broken him
- 54:38Speaker 1: down this year on the channel. It's just when you
- 54:40Speaker 1: play like this, you've got my attention. You're also on
- 54:42Speaker 1: my top six quarterbacks. Second play of the game. Just
- 54:45Speaker 1: a ho-hum. Dog route into double coverage. I mean, this
- 54:50Speaker 1: is just, like, how about the play call? First of all,
- 54:53Speaker 1: you're in 13 personnel, one back, three tight ends, coming
- 54:57Speaker 1: all the way over, disguising the split. You're going to
- 55:01Speaker 1: go run a dog route. You're going to run a
- 55:03Speaker 1: stop route, or a deeper stop route. This dog route's
- 55:06Speaker 1: 16 to 18. You want to split the difference between
- 55:09Speaker 1: the numbers and the hash and just find an opening.
- 55:13Speaker 1: And the trust and communication... and just arm strength that
- 55:19Speaker 1: he's had. Plus, first of all, this offensive line, I
- 55:22Speaker 1: think they're playing, at least this game, played a lot better.
- 55:25Speaker 1: How about this, though, right? He's starting to throw the
- 55:28Speaker 1: ball right now, just out of his break, and throws
- 55:32Speaker 1: it right to him between two defenders. Awesome job. I mean,
- 55:35Speaker 1: you can't start any better than that. Sort of sets
- 55:38Speaker 1: the tone. Three tight ends, right? Nice formation, right? All
- 55:46Speaker 1: that right. It's like heavy trips right. Boom, boom. Here
- 55:50Speaker 1: we go. Stepping up. Boom. Look at the timing and
- 55:53Speaker 1: the rhythm. Understanding, hey, there's a pressure right here. Boom.
- 55:57Speaker 1: Stepping up. Throwing it to him, but not only throwing
- 55:59Speaker 1: it to him, putting it right on him where he
- 56:01Speaker 1: comes back to the ball. I mean, that is right
- 56:03Speaker 1: on your chest. That gets me fired up. This is
- 56:05Speaker 1: going to be a sweet breakdown. Look at this. Right?
- 56:09Speaker 1: Got an extra offensive lineman, looks like, too. Yeah. Maybe
- 56:13Speaker 1: that's the time. I can't tell. Nice job with the
- 56:15Speaker 1: feel of the pocket. And this Eagles team, they ended
- 56:21Speaker 1: up pressuring him a lot. But when you're able to
- 56:23Speaker 1: fire a dot like this, you can get it out.
- 56:25Speaker 1: I just like how he maneuvers pressure. All right, Jalen
- 56:27Speaker 1: Coker right here. Coker's had a heck of a game,
- 56:31Speaker 1: heck of a start to the season. T-Max on there.
- 56:34Speaker 1: And they got some weapons, truly. And right here, this
- 56:38Speaker 1: is corner route into the boundary. Like what? It's so good.
- 56:43Speaker 1: So many different ways, and I like how they're doing this, right?
- 56:46Speaker 1: So here's TMAC. You have a corner right here, safety
- 56:49Speaker 1: right here. Based on how this Eagles team plays slot coverage,
- 56:56Speaker 1: which means you're motioning over, they're not moving the nickel over,
- 57:00Speaker 1: so you have a matchup that you want, and now
- 57:03Speaker 1: you have a safety on a receiver. They're trying to
- 57:06Speaker 1: end up playing like sort of man coverage. I mean,
- 57:09Speaker 1: take that all game long. It's unbelievable what T-Mac's able
- 57:13Speaker 1: to do. He tremble, coker, so you go in this motion.
- 57:17Speaker 1: He's going to run a hitch route. It's just smash.
- 57:19Speaker 1: Remember those smash days of old where you're just running
- 57:24Speaker 1: a hitch in a corner? Just moving to it. You're
- 57:28Speaker 1: trying to bring pressure, very late pressure. I like it.
- 57:31Speaker 1: Eyes that way, everything about it. His subtle movement in
- 57:35Speaker 1: the pocket. He's playing with a lot, a lot of
- 57:39Speaker 1: confidence there. And that's what Carolina Panthers fans want to see.
- 57:43Speaker 1: They're 3-2 right now, but that's a big win versus
- 57:45Speaker 1: the Eagles. Let's see it from this view. Just watch.
- 57:47Speaker 1: He knows exactly what to do. We're bringing them tight.
- 57:49Speaker 1: We've got a motion, hitch, corner route. It's going to
- 57:52Speaker 1: be on 24-2. That's a matchup you've got to win
- 57:55Speaker 1: every single time. But look how smooth and confident he feels.
- 58:00Speaker 1: I mean, right on him. Again, you get T-Mac, two catches,
- 58:03Speaker 1: first seven plays of the game. Get this guy rolling.
- 58:05Speaker 1: Next play right here, slot formation, two tight ends. Two receivers,
- 58:10Speaker 1: so that'd be 12 personnel, which means the first digit
- 58:13Speaker 1: is the running back, the second digit is two tight ends.
- 58:15Speaker 1: All right, tight ends, running backs. That's why we say
- 58:20Speaker 1: 12 personnel. 13 would be one back, three tight ends.
- 58:22Speaker 1: So we're learning here, slot formation. Now you go from
- 58:25Speaker 1: a nub side slot back here. This is the best
- 58:29Speaker 1: throw of the day. This might be one of the
- 58:32Speaker 1: better throws he's had all season. This is unbelievable. First
- 58:35Speaker 1: of all, there's no flat control, which means over here,
- 58:38Speaker 1: And so you're just saying, hey, I'm just going to
- 58:40Speaker 1: take this. He almost throws it like a check down.
- 58:44Speaker 1: Here we go. Missile route, 16 to 18. Very similar
- 58:47Speaker 1: to what we did. That play is made for him.
- 58:49Speaker 1: You're going to get back in. You're going to run
- 58:51Speaker 1: a deep circus route, which is 18 to 22 yard
- 58:55Speaker 1: out route. This back needs to get here to pull
- 58:58Speaker 1: this corner down. So there's a lot of different ways.
- 59:01Speaker 1: What I do love about this, you're just splitting the
- 59:04Speaker 1: field in half. Just cut it down in half and
- 59:06Speaker 1: say we're only going to work down here. A couple
- 59:09Speaker 1: things with this coverage. That's a deep safety. That's a
- 59:12Speaker 1: half field safety, which means you have this entire half
- 59:14Speaker 1: of this field. You're another half field safety. You have
- 59:17Speaker 1: this entire half of this field. This is a cloud corner,
- 59:19Speaker 1: which means your job is flat. That's why I'm sort
- 59:22Speaker 1: of pissed off that this back didn't get here. But
- 59:26Speaker 1: Bryce Young don't need no flat defender. Look what he
- 59:29Speaker 1: throws this. He's starting to throw right. Let's see if
- 59:33Speaker 1: I'm good. Right there. He's starting to throw. Not even out.
- 59:37Speaker 1: Have to get this ball up and over the corner
- 59:40Speaker 1: before the safety gets there. That's where you want to attack.
- 59:43Speaker 1: And if you can push this football down the field,
- 59:46Speaker 1: it's not an amazing pocket. It's a tight pocket. You're
- 59:50Speaker 1: able to do this and put this ball here. It's
- 59:52Speaker 1: like playing. It's like presence down the chimney is what
- 59:55Speaker 1: we call it. Santa came early this year. I mean,
- 59:57Speaker 1: this throw from this view is unbelievable. We're going to
- 59:59Speaker 1: run at full speed to see. Spring over here, then
- 1:00:01Speaker 1: you're coming back. Heavy play action when I push the
- 1:00:03Speaker 1: football down the field. Okay, I lied. This is an
- 1:00:07Speaker 1: amazing pocket. Okay, so you want to try to fit
- 1:00:09Speaker 1: this in. So why would I try to fit that in?
- 1:00:11Speaker 1: Why would I try to fit a square peg into
- 1:00:15Speaker 1: a circle hole when I can just take the triangle
- 1:00:17Speaker 1: all the way out here, man? Look at this. Look
- 1:00:21Speaker 1: how this ball gets up and down. I don't think
- 1:00:23Speaker 1: you understand how difficult of a throw that is. We've
- 1:00:26Speaker 1: got to watch it three times. It's so nice. Right here,
- 1:00:30Speaker 1: move on over. Now you're just trying to get... This
- 1:00:32Speaker 1: is what Vic Fangio sort of was a change-up. You're
- 1:00:34Speaker 1: going to end up bringing five. We'll see some pocket
- 1:00:36Speaker 1: movement and maneuvers right here. That's sweet. Step up into
- 1:00:41Speaker 1: the pocket. Look at that. It's like Dave Canales knew
- 1:00:43Speaker 1: exactly what he was doing with Bryce Young in terms
- 1:00:45Speaker 1: of pocket awareness. I mean, come on, dude. You can't
- 1:00:48Speaker 1: get any better. Next play. Right here. Coker over. Now
- 1:00:53Speaker 1: it's a 1x3 slot formation. There's the tight end. When
- 1:00:56Speaker 1: I say 1x3, it means it's a nub side. If
- 1:00:59Speaker 1: it was a receiver right here, I would call it
- 1:01:02Speaker 1: three by one. Let's talk a little ball as we're
- 1:01:04Speaker 1: going to. Make you a little smarter. This is a
- 1:01:07Speaker 1: play that everyone's running. These offensive linemen got really, really lucky.
- 1:01:12Speaker 1: It's called the throwback, but I love how he settles
- 1:01:15Speaker 1: him down in the hole. This play is meant to
- 1:01:18Speaker 1: be right here. Right here. And you go back up.
- 1:01:23Speaker 1: He clears it out. He might go this way. And
- 1:01:26Speaker 1: you have a back right here. So really, the entire...
- 1:01:29Speaker 1: part of this entire play is here to here one
- 1:01:31Speaker 1: to two there's different types you're hoping that with this
- 1:01:35Speaker 1: safety sorry with this corner the post goes with the
- 1:01:38Speaker 1: corner but he also has vision he's not stupid he
- 1:01:41Speaker 1: sees everything too but Bryce's understand you have to see
- 1:01:46Speaker 1: that corner when you're throwing and you're doing this with
- 1:01:50Speaker 1: pressure right watch watch the pocket the pocket isn't very
- 1:01:54Speaker 1: good Oh, he's backing up and he's throwing that. He's
- 1:01:56Speaker 1: able to throw it. The separation right here is not great,
- 1:01:59Speaker 1: by the way. He's wide open as well. These offensive
- 1:02:02Speaker 1: linemen are getting real close to a legal man downfield.
- 1:02:05Speaker 1: But the pocket, not great on this one. Nice job,
- 1:02:09Speaker 1: just able to get enough on it to sort of
- 1:02:12Speaker 1: settle him in. That little honey hole, I like it.
- 1:02:17Speaker 1: So it's a throwback, which means you're going to go here,
- 1:02:19Speaker 1: you're going to go up there, clear it out. So good.
- 1:02:24Speaker 1: This is going to be a good view of how
- 1:02:26Speaker 1: muddy the pocket is. Just rushing four. These boys are hunting.
- 1:02:31Speaker 1: Look at all that green. And you're able to just
- 1:02:34Speaker 1: step into it. You've got to throw it on the
- 1:02:36Speaker 1: line because this guy might come off. Not a great
- 1:02:38Speaker 1: play by 27, honestly, but a better throw. I mean,
- 1:02:41Speaker 1: that is perfect. You put them, just handle them on
- 1:02:43Speaker 1: a sideline. Come on now. Might as well see this
- 1:02:49Speaker 1: view too. I'll give you three views. They're hunting Bryce.
- 1:02:56Speaker 1: Can't step into it. Do you got enough arm strength?
- 1:02:59Speaker 1: You betcha. Really good. All right, second and 20. That's
- 1:03:03Speaker 1: a long way. Second and 20. What are you going
- 1:03:06Speaker 1: to do? Are they playing man because they're on the
- 1:03:08Speaker 1: edge or fringe of field goal range? The edge of
- 1:03:10Speaker 1: field goal range? No, they're not. But just come back here.
- 1:03:15Speaker 1: Take a shot to T-Mac. I mean, to getting third manageable.
- 1:03:18Speaker 1: A lot of things go into this. I love it.
- 1:03:23Speaker 1: A couple different things with the route concept, all right?
- 1:03:26Speaker 1: So what you're doing, you're trying to attack this and
- 1:03:29Speaker 1: get this safety just to look over here. You could
- 1:03:32Speaker 1: absolutely throw this if you have an alert. You have
- 1:03:34Speaker 1: a stop and in, and you have a stop and in.
- 1:03:38Speaker 1: And then more importantly, you have this wrap route. You
- 1:03:41Speaker 1: have a stop, a grab route, and you're going to
- 1:03:44Speaker 1: wrap behind it right there. That's where you want to attack,
- 1:03:48Speaker 1: the middle of the field versus two eye safeties look.
- 1:03:53Speaker 1: The thing isn't empty, though. You've got to sort of
- 1:03:55Speaker 1: figure it out. They do a nice job of attaching here.
- 1:03:59Speaker 1: He understands the mic is moving to number three. One, two, three,
- 1:04:03Speaker 1: receiver side. And then in a muddy pocket, you're able
- 1:04:06Speaker 1: to step into it. As you're about to get hit
- 1:04:09Speaker 1: and throw an absolute dime, it's like taking candy from
- 1:04:11Speaker 1: a baby. Nice play call, nice execution, all that. Just
- 1:04:15Speaker 1: got to be aware. When there are these wide fours,
- 1:04:18Speaker 1: four eyes, and they're blitzing and getting after you, It's
- 1:04:23Speaker 1: very difficult to be able to do that. But I
- 1:04:26Speaker 1: like it, right? Look at him look his guy down. Understand, hey,
- 1:04:30Speaker 1: sit there. You're the filet mignon. We want people to
- 1:04:32Speaker 1: come to you. And then you're in this pocket as
- 1:04:36Speaker 1: you're getting hit on the head. They should call that.
- 1:04:38Speaker 1: They do. First down. Can't do that. Can't get him
- 1:04:43Speaker 1: hit in the head. This is a very good defensive
- 1:04:46Speaker 1: line for Philly. Jalen Carter's a beast. See, they're sending
- 1:04:51Speaker 1: the center to him. That was a plan all day.
- 1:04:53Speaker 1: One-on-one the opposite. Comes over. Can't hit him like that.
- 1:04:57Speaker 1: First down. All right, here we go. Sixth play of
- 1:05:00Speaker 1: the breakdown. Play 26 of the game. Little tight split.
- 1:05:04Speaker 1: Little motion. So good. I love this so much. You're
- 1:05:13Speaker 1: trying to run heavy play action with this guard right here.
- 1:05:18Speaker 1: You want to affect this safety. But what you're doing
- 1:05:20Speaker 1: is you're coming down And you're trying to run at
- 1:05:23Speaker 1: this safety and then do a pop route, which means
- 1:05:27Speaker 1: a pop route sort of like a slant and go,
- 1:05:29Speaker 1: whatever you want to call it. But they actually call
- 1:05:33Speaker 1: it a pop route. And then you're going to have
- 1:05:37Speaker 1: tied in 1,001, 1,002 to try and get this corner
- 1:05:39Speaker 1: off and then release. Bryce Young does a really nice job.
- 1:05:42Speaker 1: Watch him fake and look at this safety at the
- 1:05:44Speaker 1: same time. The safety already knows it. It's so difficult
- 1:05:48Speaker 1: when you're here. You think you're blocking. Now you got
- 1:05:51Speaker 1: him because he comes into him. Perfectly executed play call.
- 1:05:56Speaker 1: This was a touchdown on Wednesday when they ran it
- 1:05:58Speaker 1: in practice. I guarantee you that. They were already like, hey,
- 1:06:01Speaker 1: this is the play that we're saving for. This is
- 1:06:03Speaker 1: what we want. Played 26 of the breakdown. Nice job
- 1:06:06Speaker 1: bumping out. And then he's already saying, hey, in and out,
- 1:06:09Speaker 1: in and out, which means I got first thing in.
- 1:06:12Speaker 1: I got first thing out. Doesn't work like that. Nice throw.
- 1:06:17Speaker 1: Back shoulder too. Keep it away from that corner. Put
- 1:06:21Speaker 1: him in a blender all day. Bryce is happy. That
- 1:06:24Speaker 1: makes it right there. You can already tell. He already
- 1:06:26Speaker 1: knows what's happening. Got to be on the same page, though. Touchdown.
- 1:06:29Speaker 1: All right, next play. Third and 15. A minute 56 left.
- 1:06:34Speaker 1: Got to make a play in the two-minute drive to
- 1:06:37Speaker 1: end the half, right? Come on. This is stupid. You
- 1:06:45Speaker 1: know how hard it is to consider and to get
- 1:06:49Speaker 1: third and 16? I mean, they're just, he's reading this perfectly.
- 1:06:53Speaker 1: The whole thing is run through it, dagger, sort of
- 1:06:59Speaker 1: a dog route. We've said that what the dog is,
- 1:07:01Speaker 1: 16 to 18. And you just got to read this
- 1:07:05Speaker 1: safety if you're Bryce. First of all, you got to
- 1:07:07Speaker 1: have enough blocking, which that's what they do. They have
- 1:07:10Speaker 1: these chip, chip, flat, chip, chip, flats to help with it.
- 1:07:16Speaker 1: But a nice job. He's looking all the way over here.
- 1:07:19Speaker 1: Just to move this safety, he knows this flat's going
- 1:07:21Speaker 1: to take it, and there's a definite area right here.
- 1:07:23Speaker 1: Look how he moves up and then back left as
- 1:07:26Speaker 1: he throws this. Got to be physical at the point
- 1:07:30Speaker 1: of attack. They were attacking number 27 all game long.
- 1:07:33Speaker 1: Oh my goodness gracious. Right, here we go. Chip, chip.
- 1:07:37Speaker 1: Watch his eyes the whole time. Next level, man. He
- 1:07:42Speaker 1: knows exactly what he's doing. Moving this guy, stepping up
- 1:07:45Speaker 1: and over the pocket maneuver, the pocket ability, and then
- 1:07:48Speaker 1: the throw down and away. This gets me excited, man.
- 1:07:51Speaker 1: You don't see this type of quarterback play or this
- 1:07:54Speaker 1: consistent type of quarterback play. You can't play it any
- 1:07:56Speaker 1: better right now than Bryce Young. Dude's balling. All right,
- 1:08:01Speaker 1: second and 10. Three receivers, two receivers. Got to be
- 1:08:06Speaker 1: an empty. This is the point of the game where
- 1:08:08Speaker 1: I think they end up starting to pressure him. Yep.
- 1:08:11Speaker 1: Get a little pressure in his face. Ah, you can't
- 1:08:13Speaker 1: win them all. I just put this one on here
- 1:08:15Speaker 1: because they're running. It's pretty simple. Sometimes you miss the
- 1:08:19Speaker 1: simple things. It's a stick, a stick, which is an
- 1:08:22Speaker 1: out route. These are out routes right here. Let me
- 1:08:24Speaker 1: just draw that again. Run out. Six yards. Four to six.
- 1:08:27Speaker 1: Run out. Go ball. Throw it into pressure. That guy's
- 1:08:32Speaker 1: open right there. Take it. Just take what they give you.
- 1:08:36Speaker 1: Sometimes you miss them. There's nothing other than that. He
- 1:08:38Speaker 1: just missed the read. He was reading the wrong side.
- 1:08:40Speaker 1: Let's see if he was reading left, actually. But when
- 1:08:42Speaker 1: they pressure, this is where Vic Fangio started ratcheting up
- 1:08:44Speaker 1: the pressure. He even checked to it. He checked to it.
- 1:08:47Speaker 1: Zach Bond is blitzing. I'm surprised he didn't throw it.
- 1:08:50Speaker 1: He's looking that way. It's open. Maybe he ran the
- 1:08:54Speaker 1: wrong route, but it's open. Nice job just throwing it away, though.
- 1:08:58Speaker 1: 13-7 right now. You're backed up. What are we going
- 1:09:00Speaker 1: to do, right? How are we going to figure it out?
- 1:09:02Speaker 1: You're just going to change protection, change plays. There's five
- 1:09:05Speaker 1: men front up here who's pressuring, who's not. He's heat blitzing.
- 1:09:09Speaker 1: I like that. I like that. You're changing protection. You
- 1:09:13Speaker 1: knew what was coming. Come on now. This is my favorite.
- 1:09:16Speaker 1: This is one of my favorite plays. This is high-level quarterbacking, dude.
- 1:09:20Speaker 1: A couple things that I love about this. He saw
- 1:09:24Speaker 1: the pressure. Five-man front, linebacker on the line. That's Coker
- 1:09:30Speaker 1: in the backfield. And he, I guarantee you, saw this
- 1:09:35Speaker 1: safety creeping and said, hey, Packer left, Packer left. What
- 1:09:38Speaker 1: does Packer left say? Everyone slide left because one-on-one with here,
- 1:09:42Speaker 1: there's no one back over here. And that way you're
- 1:09:45Speaker 1: able to get your back out You're able to get
- 1:09:48Speaker 1: this pressure taken care of. And then it's a massive
- 1:09:52Speaker 1: play where you're moving right. Good luck, Zach Bond, covering
- 1:09:58Speaker 1: a receiver in the backfield. High-level quarterbacking play. They get
- 1:10:04Speaker 1: into a jam front, which means every guard, center, and
- 1:10:07Speaker 1: tackle is covered. End up pressuring down the middle. He
- 1:10:12Speaker 1: sees it, almost like a... Look at this head move. Watch.
- 1:10:18Speaker 1: He's like, oh, oh, I got you. Everyone slide left.
- 1:10:23Speaker 1: Five for five. These five, one-on-one with Coker on Zach Bond.
- 1:10:28Speaker 1: I'll take it all game long. High-level quarterbacking play. I
- 1:10:33Speaker 1: love it. And you're able to move off the spot,
- 1:10:36Speaker 1: make a good throw. Backbreaker for the defense, man. All right,
- 1:10:41Speaker 1: here we go. Next play, two more right here. There's
- 1:10:43Speaker 1: high-level quarterback play all over this film. They said, oh,
- 1:10:46Speaker 1: we got a pressure. Bring in five. What? Come on.
- 1:10:51Speaker 1: Easy money. They learned from the last one. They said, hey,
- 1:10:57Speaker 1: let's just run these little shallow crosses right there. Nice
- 1:10:59Speaker 1: job understanding where the pressure's coming from. Moving in the
- 1:11:03Speaker 1: pocket and getting it out quickly over the middle of
- 1:11:05Speaker 1: the football field. But the way he does it, the
- 1:11:07Speaker 1: way he does it with his arm right here is
- 1:11:09Speaker 1: next level. Right? 13. Just like, hey, give me your eyes.
- 1:11:13Speaker 1: They pressure. Trotter's pressuring. Perfect. Replace the pressure. It ain't hard, guys.
- 1:11:18Speaker 1: It's not a hard sport. And then the last play
- 1:11:21Speaker 1: of the game. Touchdown. Complete mess up. But the way
- 1:11:24Speaker 1: Bryce Young is playing right now, guys, like, look at this.
- 1:11:27Speaker 1: Wide open. A lot of guys don't get the chance
- 1:11:30Speaker 1: to find it, but he finds it right there. Over post.
- 1:11:35Speaker 1: We're going to be breaking him down some more this
- 1:11:38Speaker 1: year because this dude is balling. That's an elite spin
- 1:11:41Speaker 1: of the football, by the way. Let's watch right here.
- 1:11:45Speaker 1: Panthers 3-2. Bryce Young playing as well as anyone. Exclamation point.
- 1:11:51Speaker 1: All right, guys. Thank you so much for watching. I
- 1:11:53Speaker 1: really appreciate you guys. Make sure you leave a comment.
- 1:11:56Speaker 1: Make sure you like. Make sure you subscribe. We really
- 1:11:58Speaker 1: appreciate it. I will respond to the comments. Let me
- 1:12:01Speaker 1: know what quarterbacks you want to see me break down next.
- 1:12:04Speaker 1: Have a good week, guys.
