- 0:00Speaker 1: And the Kracking power play.
- 0:02Speaker 2: Lord, this is the k Postgame Show, brought to you
- 0:05Speaker 2: by Toyota of Olympia.
- 0:08Speaker 3: Now for an in depth look at your Kraken Hockey.
- 0:11Speaker 2: It's the post Game on the Global Credit Union Kraken
- 0:14Speaker 2: Audio Network.
- 0:17Speaker 4: For the final time tonight, and welcome back inside of
- 0:20Speaker 4: Climbing Pledge Arena alongside Alconeski everet fits you back with you.
- 0:24Speaker 1: The Seattle Cracking falling three to two in a shootout to.
- 0:27Speaker 4: The Vancouver Canucks and a lot of positives in this game.
- 0:32Speaker 4: For the first time in their last ten the Seattle
- 0:35Speaker 4: Kracken score in the first period. They get two first
- 0:38Speaker 4: period goals. It was a very physical first period as well.
- 0:42Speaker 4: Jacob Milansen, that fourth line continuing to impress as Malonson
- 0:46Speaker 4: gets his first NHL point and assist on Ryan Winterton's
- 0:50Speaker 4: third goal of the season. But for the Kracking, I
- 0:54Speaker 4: think once again, special teams UH will end up being
- 0:58Speaker 4: the deciding factor in the game.
- 1:00Speaker 1: It's an ugly number one for six.
- 1:02Speaker 4: Now, three of those were abbreviated power plays, but still
- 1:07Speaker 4: when you see that number up there, you'd like to
- 1:09Speaker 4: have gotten one more while up a man, Yeah.
- 1:11Speaker 5: You didn't give up a power play goals to Vancouver,
- 1:13Speaker 5: they were zero for two on their power play. But
- 1:15Speaker 5: you had so many opportunities up a man, you know,
- 1:19Speaker 5: like you said, some of them were partial power plays,
- 1:21Speaker 5: but regardless, you had a lot more power play time
- 1:24Speaker 5: than Vancouver did and you weren't able to capitalize, capitalize
- 1:28Speaker 5: on as much as you would have liked to.
- 1:30Speaker 4: Joey the court a good game for him here tonight
- 1:31Speaker 4: and him and both the goals that beat him in
- 1:34Speaker 4: regulation were just snipes, you know, right off the face off.
- 1:37Speaker 1: It was the the.
- 1:40Speaker 4: Lenis Carlson shot and Pederson as well, just twisted risters
- 1:45Speaker 4: from the slot area. Not a whole lot you can
- 1:47Speaker 4: do about that. But once again, defensively, it was a
- 1:50Speaker 4: strong game. For the now fifth consecutive game the cracket
- 1:54Speaker 4: have held opponents to two or one goals. In that time,
- 2:00Speaker 4: Seattle has scored four or three goals before coming into tonight.
- 2:04Speaker 4: So again, defensively, was a good night for Seattle as well.
- 2:06Speaker 5: Yeah, you know, started in goal, Joy Accord was twenty
- 2:09Speaker 5: two of twenty four, nine to one seven save percentage,
- 2:12Speaker 5: so you know, doing his part keeping this goal this
- 2:15Speaker 5: game at two goals or less. I think is more
- 2:17Speaker 5: than you can ask for from an NHL goaltender. Unfortunately,
- 2:21Speaker 5: that was the shootout that was the difference maker in
- 2:23Speaker 5: the end, and Liam Mokrad find the back of the net,
- 2:25Speaker 5: the only one to find the back of the net
- 2:27Speaker 5: at either end of the ice in the shootout.
- 2:29Speaker 1: So there's two ways to look at this partner.
- 2:30Speaker 4: You've got to say the Krakens four game winning streak
- 2:33Speaker 4: has come to an end, or you can say the
- 2:35Speaker 4: Kraken have pushed their point streak to.
- 2:37Speaker 5: Five games and a chance to start that winning streak
- 2:39Speaker 5: again here on Thursday.
- 2:40Speaker 1: I like it, I mean I don't hate it.
- 2:43Speaker 4: Zero to one their last five now one point back,
- 2:46Speaker 4: two points back, still on a playoff spot after the
- 2:48Speaker 4: win here tonight earlier tonight by the San Jose Sharks
- 2:51Speaker 4: three two Vancouver in a shootout.
- 2:54Speaker 1: Al over to you to take us away.
- 2:55Speaker 5: Yeah, key takeaways for me. Fourth line again, lots of speed,
- 2:59Speaker 5: lots of physicality and a goal tonight as well, Winterton
- 3:02Speaker 5: from Milanson and one Joey to court. The cracking out
- 3:06Speaker 5: shooting Vancouver in that third period sixteen to three. It
- 3:09Speaker 5: was an area of opportunity that they definitely cleaned up
- 3:13Speaker 5: trying to get that winning goal there in the third period.
- 3:15Speaker 5: The mccannon goal was huge, first goal of the game,
- 3:17Speaker 5: which is the sixth time in a row the Cracking
- 3:20Speaker 5: have scored the first goal of the game, getting that
- 3:22Speaker 5: back in the first period from Jared McCann and Joey
- 3:26Speaker 5: to court again twenty two of twenty four with a
- 3:27Speaker 5: nine to one seven say percentage of doing his part
- 3:30Speaker 5: between the pipes to help his team out. Thought that
- 3:32Speaker 5: was huge as well. Three stars brought to you by Mamackay.
- 3:35Speaker 5: Third star goes to Jacob Mallanson with that assist on
- 3:38Speaker 5: the Winterton goal. Also had four hits tonight, so a
- 3:41Speaker 5: little under his four point two average, but continuing making
- 3:45Speaker 5: connect in the Nighteah, exactly, we need one more, got
- 3:48Speaker 5: to push that up. Second star will go to Jared McCann.
- 3:52Speaker 5: He had that goal back in the first period. He
- 3:53Speaker 5: also had three shots on goals so he was firing
- 3:55Speaker 5: the puck tonight. Yeah, and the fight he was pushing
- 3:58Speaker 5: for that Gordy Haw hat trick. And then first star
- 4:01Speaker 5: will go to aleam Ogrin from Vancouver. He had an assist,
- 4:04Speaker 5: was plus one and he had the shootout game winner.
- 4:08Speaker 1: No Gordy how Hat tricks.
- 4:09Speaker 4: Surprisingly in Cracking history, none in his nine in the
- 4:12Speaker 4: In the just over four and a half year history
- 4:15Speaker 4: of this team, have we seen a Gordy how Hat trick,
- 4:18Speaker 4: which is a goal and assist and a fight in
- 4:21Speaker 4: the same game. Oddly enough, Gordy Howe had two Gordy
- 4:27Speaker 4: how Hat tricks.
- 4:27Speaker 1: It was his entire career.
- 4:30Speaker 4: In his entire career, he had too. So the standings now,
- 4:33Speaker 4: I know Mike Benton's waiting. We're coming to you, buddy,
- 4:35Speaker 4: I promise. The standings now bunched up a little bit.
- 4:38Speaker 4: So now you're second and your first and second wild
- 4:41Speaker 4: card both out of the Pacific Division. Kings and Sharks.
- 4:43Speaker 4: They're at forty one points, Cracking two back at thirty nine.
- 4:47Speaker 4: Utah tied at thirty nine as well. And then you've
- 4:50Speaker 4: got the next three. Nashville, who the crack and are
- 4:52Speaker 4: going to face on Thursday. You've got Calgary, who the
- 4:55Speaker 4: crack and will face on Monday on the road, and
- 4:57Speaker 4: Saint Louis all with thirty eight point. Vancouver goes back
- 5:01Speaker 4: home tomorrow to take on the Philadelphia Flyers, and then
- 5:05Speaker 4: they will host Seattle coming up on Friday. So by
- 5:08Speaker 4: the time these two teams meet again, Vancouver is now
- 5:12Speaker 4: four points back of Seattle. They could be tied with
- 5:15Speaker 4: the crack in or just behind Seattle at thirty nine
- 5:18Speaker 4: or forty one points, depending on.
- 5:20Speaker 1: What happens in their next three games.
- 5:22Speaker 5: Well, in these games in hand that Seattle has as well,
- 5:24Speaker 5: you're probably gonna make them up over these back to backs.
- 5:26Speaker 5: You get or two more back to backs over the
- 5:30Speaker 5: next week, and if you don't do it, then you're
- 5:32Speaker 5: definitely gonna do it in January, where you play seventeen
- 5:34Speaker 5: games in thirty one days, and the teams that are
- 5:37Speaker 5: below you, Utah, they're at thirty nine points, just like
- 5:39Speaker 5: the Cracking, but they're at forty games played. Crack there
- 5:42Speaker 5: at thirty seven, above you San Jose thirty nine game played,
- 5:45Speaker 5: but Cracking at thirty seven, and then obviously Los Angeles
- 5:48Speaker 5: with one more. So you've got to take advantage of
- 5:51Speaker 5: those games in hand. If you do, you'll find yourself
- 5:53Speaker 5: sniffing around those playoff spots.
- 5:54Speaker 4: Oh, that'll do it here for us, it's been fun al.
- 5:57Speaker 4: Who do we do it again next year?
- 5:58Speaker 6: Yeah?
- 5:59Speaker 1: Let's go next do it again next year? All right?
- 6:01Speaker 4: For al, I'm Everett Mike Betton gonna carry you home
- 6:04Speaker 4: the rest of the way. Thanks so much for tuning in, folks.

- 6:11Speaker 4: lift or uber, or walk or take the bus or
- 6:14Speaker 4: sleep wherever you are.
- 6:15Speaker 1: Just don't drive.
- 6:16Speaker 4: We want you alive in two thousand and twenty six.
- 6:20Speaker 4: But for now, Mike bensit take us away.
- 6:23Speaker 7: We look forward to next year already, guys, thank you
- 6:26Speaker 7: very much once again. And yeah, certainly you look at
- 6:28Speaker 7: this game here in two ways. First off the cracking
- 6:30Speaker 7: and back to backs they get three points out of
- 6:33Speaker 7: the possible four, but how many times it really did it?
- 6:35Speaker 7: Sting to think about the chances left on the table
- 6:38Speaker 7: here for this evening, however, the Kraken four zero and one,
- 6:41Speaker 7: that is their run carrying into twenty twenty six. That
- 6:45Speaker 7: record in the last five games was put some right
- 6:47Speaker 7: now two points back at the cut line here in
- 6:50Speaker 7: the Western Conference, back at the Los Angeles Kings and
- 6:53Speaker 7: San Jose Sharks, as the Vancouver Canucks eventually prevail in
- 6:58Speaker 7: the shootout three to two, your final over the crack
- 7:01Speaker 7: in here for this evening, and we have a lot

- 7:14Speaker 7: when the Kraken finally hit the road again and they
- 7:18Speaker 7: have the Canucks as well coming up once more looking
- 7:21Speaker 7: for payback. After this seating, we'll talk more about that
- 7:24Speaker 7: as postgame coverage rolls along again. Final score from Climate

- 10:04Speaker 7: Credit Union Cracking Audio Network. Well a tough ending in
- 10:18Speaker 7: this one when you consider the crack and giving the
- 10:20Speaker 7: Canucks all they can handle as far as a fight
- 10:22Speaker 7: literally and figuratively here in this one, as Jared McCann
- 10:25Speaker 7: hits the scoreboard gets also two thirds of the way
- 10:28Speaker 7: to a Gordy haw hatrick. But the shootout is where
- 10:31Speaker 7: the Canucks eventually push ahead for the final time in
- 10:33Speaker 7: the Crack and Fall in this head to head season
- 10:36Speaker 7: series opener three to two in a shootout at Climate

- 10:51Speaker 7: right across from Climate Pledge Arena. The Crack and w
- 10:53Speaker 7: record moving to sixteen, fourteen and seven. They now have
- 10:58Speaker 7: thirty nine points and back of the cut line in
- 11:01Speaker 7: the Western Conference behind Los Angeles and San Jose. They
- 11:05Speaker 7: are four to zero to one in their last five games,
- 11:07Speaker 7: the Canucks ending a string of back to back losses
- 11:10Speaker 7: and in their record now is sixteen nineteen and three
- 11:15Speaker 7: with thirty five points as well on the campaign and
- 11:18Speaker 7: inching a little closer in what feels like a Western
- 11:20Speaker 7: Conference where nobody is theoretically out of the mix. Right now,
- 11:25Speaker 7: the kracking record in shootouts fall into zero to four
- 11:27Speaker 7: this season, Vancouver improving two four and zero. But the
- 11:31Speaker 7: highlights we go in this settle crack and drive to
- 11:33Speaker 7: the net score and recamp is brought to you. But
- 11:35Speaker 7: the all new Chevy Tracks now bigger and Boulder Tracks
- 11:38Speaker 7: is the perfect assist for all of life's adventures Period one,
- 11:43Speaker 7: featuring plenty of twists and turns and eventually the Canucks
- 11:48Speaker 7: going down four on three after too many men on
- 11:51Speaker 7: the ice penalty and who is step forward for the
- 11:54Speaker 7: Kraken on the power play.
- 11:56Speaker 1: Back to the blue line is Jared mcchann. He'll fire.
- 12:06Speaker 1: Welcome back, Jared McCann.
- 12:09Speaker 10: M bomb from the right side in passlacking and HiT's
- 12:13Speaker 10: a power play goal one nothing eleven ten to play in.
- 12:17Speaker 5: The first well starts with a face off, winning the
- 12:19Speaker 5: offensive end of the ice. Channer Stevenson gets that puck
- 12:22Speaker 5: back and everybody throws it back to the point. It
- 12:27Speaker 5: was done. Done, fed that puck over to McCann mcgaun.
- 12:30Speaker 5: I hesitated because I wasn't sure who was back with
- 12:32Speaker 5: the pointer.
- 12:33Speaker 1: But it was done that fed the puck over to McCann.
- 12:35Speaker 5: McCann with a one time, we're one dupin cracking.
- 12:38Speaker 7: You had to figure three minor penalties, had to gnaw
- 12:40Speaker 7: at Canucks head coach Adam Foot and the crack and
- 12:43Speaker 7: were right there to take advantage of eight to fifty
- 12:45Speaker 7: a period one, Jared mccannon getting his first goal back
- 12:48Speaker 7: from injury six on the campaign, Ben's done and Jordan
- 12:52Speaker 7: Everley with an assist.
- 12:54Speaker 3: Everly now riding.
- 12:54Speaker 7: A four game point scoring streak off of that assist,
- 12:57Speaker 7: and the Cracking power play now off that goal with
- 13:00Speaker 7: now goals in three of their last four games. A
- 13:03Speaker 7: one nothing lead they carry at the eight to fifty
- 13:06Speaker 7: mark of period one, but after that, Jared McCann and
- 13:10Speaker 7: Connor Garland getting into a scrap at fifteen seventeen after
- 13:14Speaker 7: an Aaron elbow and McCann challenging Garland as well off
- 13:18Speaker 7: of the elbow, they dropped the gloves. Both given five
- 13:21Speaker 7: minutes each for fighting, and not too long after that.
- 13:24Speaker 7: Matter of fact, only three seconds later, the Caducks convert
- 13:27Speaker 7: to make it a one to one type on Linas
- 13:30Speaker 7: Carlson's ninth goal of the season, that coming of fifteen
- 13:33Speaker 7: twenty from Liam Ogrim. But more youngsters and the Kraken
- 13:37Speaker 7: side stepping forward and looking to make an impact.
- 13:40Speaker 3: Layton Period one.
- 13:42Speaker 1: Jacob Malonson down the left side. Malonsi finds a lane,
- 13:45Speaker 1: looks at fronts chucks.
- 13:54Speaker 10: Shacob Malon said the fifty feet to Ryan Winterton, who
- 13:59Speaker 10: finishes up.
- 14:00Speaker 1: He hey, it's a.
- 14:01Speaker 10: Two on Seattle, cracking lead nineteen point two left. Hear
- 14:06Speaker 10: in the period for Jacob Malon sid that's his first
- 14:09Speaker 10: points in the National Hockey League.
- 14:12Speaker 5: But all starts back in the cracking in. Joey de
- 14:15Speaker 5: Cord fires the puck around the wall. Belonzi gets it.
- 14:18Speaker 5: He goes flying down the wall. Couple Vancouver players buff
- 14:21Speaker 5: into each other. He's got a two on one going
- 14:24Speaker 5: down the wall with Winterton. Great backhand feet from Alonzo
- 14:28Speaker 5: da Cross. Winterton finishes it off two to one. Congratulation
- 14:32Speaker 5: of Blatson for his.
- 14:33Speaker 7: First point in NHL, and that two one lead brought
- 14:36Speaker 7: to you by the Coachella Valley Firebirds, Ryan Winterton getting
- 14:39Speaker 7: his third goal of the season at nineteen forty Jacob
- 14:42Speaker 7: Malonson with a milestone point helping set him up and
- 14:45Speaker 7: once again turning plenty of heads with his abrasive game
- 14:48Speaker 7: and also offensive touch. He had the assistant on the
- 14:50Speaker 7: play and Joey to court at one point, also a Firebird,
- 14:54Speaker 7: picks up his third assist here of the season as
- 14:57Speaker 7: a goaltender, and the Kraken sai pretty so to speak,
- 15:01Speaker 7: with a two to one lead at the end of
- 15:03Speaker 7: one period of play, but a defensive breakdown cost him
- 15:06Speaker 7: a five to twenty three a period two. And when
- 15:08Speaker 7: you give it Lias Petterson's space and open ice, especially
- 15:11Speaker 7: in the middle, well Eleas Petterson will take advantage. He
- 15:14Speaker 7: did so for his ninth goal of the season at
- 15:16Speaker 7: five to twenty three up period two of Andander Kaine
- 15:19Speaker 7: and Tom the Launder had the assist on the play
- 15:22Speaker 7: to make it two to two at the end of
- 15:24Speaker 7: forty minutes and the two teams tightening matters up. A
- 15:27Speaker 7: matter of fact, the Krakends starting to till ice more
- 15:30Speaker 7: in their advantage in period three, and despite a sixteen
- 15:33Speaker 7: to three edge in shots in the final twenty minutes
- 15:36Speaker 7: of play for regulation, this game was still alive in
- 15:40Speaker 7: a two to two tie, carrying into sudden death overtime,
- 15:43Speaker 7: and the Kraken had a magnificent opportunity to end it
- 15:47Speaker 7: as well on the power play when Evander Kaine was
- 15:49Speaker 7: called for tripping at three to twenty, but not Dice.
- 15:52Speaker 7: Kevin Lankin in coming through to make a couple of
- 15:54Speaker 7: the key stops late, taking this game into a shootout,
- 15:58Speaker 7: and after a pair of scoreless round Jordan every stopped.
- 16:01Speaker 7: In round three, it was up to Liam Ogrin.
- 16:04Speaker 4: Ogrin cut left wing, now back to the middle the
- 16:08Speaker 4: left headed shot. Ogrin shoots off the stick of Joey Decord,
- 16:12Speaker 4: He scores and the Vancouver Canucks pick up the extra point.
- 16:18Speaker 4: They win this one three to two in a shootout.
- 16:21Speaker 7: And that wrapping up a game where the crack and
- 16:23Speaker 7: at least finding a way to get three points out
- 16:25Speaker 7: of a possible four here on back to back. But
- 16:28Speaker 7: when you factor in the opportunities here, and there were
- 16:31Speaker 7: plenty of those left here on the table. With a
- 16:33Speaker 7: krack and going one of six on the power play.
- 16:35Speaker 7: They also came up empty on a power play in
- 16:38Speaker 7: overtime and unfortunately scoreless on their side here in the shootout,
- 16:43Speaker 7: and their record now in the last five games is
- 16:45Speaker 7: at four to ozho and one where the Canucks taking
- 16:47Speaker 7: this one three to two. The final in a shootout,
- 16:50Speaker 7: your final shots on goal thirty nine to twenty four
- 16:54Speaker 7: in favor of the Kraken power plays wise, the krack
- 16:57Speaker 7: in one of six, the Canucks zero of two and
- 16:59Speaker 7: the win and that to Kevin Lankin and it turns
- 17:01Speaker 7: in a thirty seven save effort. His record is now
- 17:05Speaker 7: six ten and three and the shootout loss going to
- 17:08Speaker 7: Joey dcor twenty two saves officially on his side of
- 17:12Speaker 7: the score sheet man his record now moving to ten
- 17:15Speaker 7: nine and five on the campaign.

- 17:48Speaker 1: Oh, here we go.
- 17:49Speaker 3: Off the face off.
- 17:50Speaker 10: McCann and Garland gonna drop the gloves.
- 17:53Speaker 1: McCann reaches forward, missus why with the right.
- 17:55Speaker 4: Hand, Potter Garland in terms of big right hand.
- 17:58Speaker 10: Now a left from Jared McCann too strong, less from McCann.
- 18:01Speaker 1: Connor Garland, he'll Connor with lot.
- 18:04Speaker 10: McCann missing over with the topas Helmett flies off Baron.
- 18:07Speaker 1: McCann gets an uppercut. Now Garland trying to pull his
- 18:10Speaker 1: jersey over his head. Jared McCann to the side of
- 18:12Speaker 1: the head with the left hand. Now he'll pant him
- 18:14Speaker 1: against an airboards.
- 18:15Speaker 3: McCann gets his hand free.
- 18:17Speaker 10: One more rabbit punch from Connor Garland and those two
- 18:20Speaker 10: finally will be separated.
- 18:23Speaker 7: That was a baut between two players who are more
- 18:25Speaker 7: on the offensive side of matters than as far as
- 18:28Speaker 7: dropping fist of cuffs with reputation. But yet Jared McCann
- 18:31Speaker 7: hit with an elbow from Connor Garland decided to settle
- 18:35Speaker 7: a score later after the ensuing face off and Garland
- 18:38Speaker 7: answering the bell a pretty good tilt by those two,
- 18:40Speaker 7: but unfortunately for the Kraken, and returning a few seconds after.
- 18:45Speaker 4: That off the face off, Venus Carlson finds a buck
- 18:49Speaker 4: in the low slot. He scores, so the Kraken still
- 18:56Speaker 4: off the high of the fight, Linas carr wi with
- 19:01Speaker 4: his knife of the season, and we're all tied at
- 19:04Speaker 4: the goal of beasts.
- 19:05Speaker 7: And after a first period where it's seen the Krack
- 19:08Speaker 7: and we're really owning matters offensively and pushing Kevin lanket
- 19:11Speaker 7: In and crew back. That gave the Canucks a little
- 19:13Speaker 7: bit more life and from there it was game on,
- 19:16Speaker 7: where the Kraken able to push this one into overtime,
- 19:18Speaker 7: but unfortunately unable to find the finish in the ot
- 19:22Speaker 7: session or the shootout, and Vancouver escaping three to two.
- 19:25Speaker 7: The final here at Climate Pledge Arena in the shootout
- 19:29Speaker 7: stage time out for the big win. Brought to you
- 19:31Speaker 7: Bonnie the Evergreen Council on Problem gambling in this involving

- 19:51Speaker 1: Fred's take their first lead in the night.
- 19:54Speaker 3: Two goals for Steven Stampcoast.
- 19:56Speaker 10: Late in the third period Predators for ma'amoth three six
- 20:01Speaker 10: forty three left.
- 20:02Speaker 7: That was courtesy Nashville Predators Radio as stevens Damcos helping

- 20:09Speaker 7: getting his time hunter and ninety ninth career NHL goal
- 20:13Speaker 7: and given the crack in some help as Nashville beat
- 20:15Speaker 7: Utah on this evening for to three at Delta Center.
- 20:19Speaker 3: And with that Nashville.
- 20:21Speaker 7: Tye and the are getting one point back of a
- 20:23Speaker 7: crack in here yet Utah falling into a tie now
- 20:26Speaker 7: with the Kraken at thirty nine points again, final score

- 24:22Speaker 3: Jared mccannon, You're.
- 24:24Speaker 17: Running into a hockelly like that, especially as you know
- 24:26Speaker 17: the games. What's kind of the focus for you guys
- 24:28Speaker 17: and in that situation.
- 24:29Speaker 18: Yeah, you gotta give them credit to play well. You know,
- 24:31Speaker 18: we made some big saves for them. You know, we
- 24:34Speaker 18: we peppered on.
- 24:34Speaker 9: We play well.
- 24:35Speaker 18: We did we we had some good opportunities offensively, hadn't
- 24:38Speaker 18: been in their zone quite a bit, and you know
- 24:40Speaker 18: we we should be proud of ourselves.
- 24:42Speaker 19: Sight.
- 24:42Speaker 17: What do you feel like in the third period, you
- 24:44Speaker 17: guys really kind of seem like he guys empted up
- 24:45Speaker 17: or do you feel like you guys kind of you know,
- 24:47Speaker 17: did that.
- 24:47Speaker 18: I mean towards the end there, I think we sat
- 24:49Speaker 18: back a little bit, kind of gave them some chances.
- 24:52Speaker 18: And it's not the way you you win games.
- 24:54Speaker 17: Had you feel about, you know, the way over time
- 24:56Speaker 17: played out for you guys?
- 24:57Speaker 20: Good?
- 24:57Speaker 21: Good?
- 24:57Speaker 18: I thought we had some good chances again, you know,
- 24:59Speaker 18: like Coal, he made some big for them, you know,
- 25:01Speaker 18: but you know, all in all, we got a good
- 25:03Speaker 18: point out of this, So I move forward.
- 25:05Speaker 17: Yeah, give them the you know, injuries and the way
- 25:07Speaker 17: you know your season's kind of went. Why'd you feel
- 25:08Speaker 17: like you wanted to engage with Garland there? You know,
- 25:11Speaker 17: kind of risk reward of that situation potentially.
- 25:13Speaker 18: I just you know, he kind of helbowed me in
- 25:14Speaker 18: the one play there beforehand, so you know, I asked
- 25:17Speaker 18: him to go and he said yeah. And how was
- 25:18Speaker 18: the end of that?
- 25:19Speaker 11: Jared five? Five teen points straight for you guys? What
- 25:22Speaker 11: do you think collectively kind of right now is clicking
- 25:24Speaker 11: to have you guys kind of playing this the level
- 25:26Speaker 11: you are.
- 25:26Speaker 18: I think we're playing well defensively, you know, we're getting
- 25:28Speaker 18: big saves from from Joey and Grooby. You know we're
- 25:32Speaker 18: we just need to figure out the offense. We need
- 25:33Speaker 18: to create more offense.
- 25:35Speaker 7: Was Cracking forward Jared mccannon with his immediate takeaways here
- 25:38Speaker 7: on this one as he met with the media, and
- 25:40Speaker 7: really you can't fault the Cracking for their play under
- 25:42Speaker 7: the hood based on what he said was they outshot
- 25:44Speaker 7: Vancouver thirty nine to twenty four. And a little more
- 25:48Speaker 7: insight there into that scrap with Connor Garland as McCann
- 25:51Speaker 7: got an elbow right upstairs and with that didn't take
- 25:54Speaker 7: long for him to challenge Garland and the two going
- 25:57Speaker 7: toe to toe of fifteen seventeen a period one, but sir,
- 26:00Speaker 7: chances left on the table that left McCann here to
- 26:03Speaker 7: look for more offense. You're out of this team collectively.
- 26:06Speaker 7: That's the crack Out again, fall three to two in
- 26:08Speaker 7: a shootout to the Vancouver Canucks. Back after this, you're

- 35:42Speaker 3: Well not the way.
- 35:43Speaker 7: The Kracking had plans here to end the twenty twenty
- 35:46Speaker 7: five calendar year, but they get three points out of
- 35:48Speaker 7: a possible forum back to back.
- 35:50Speaker 3: Not an easy task when you.
- 35:52Speaker 7: Consider what happened last year and what they were facing
- 35:54Speaker 7: heading into the season.
- 35:56Speaker 3: But yet two ways to kind of look at this.
- 35:58Speaker 7: We'll get to your reaction and justin bed again as
- 36:00Speaker 7: a crack and fall three two to the Vancouver Canucks
- 36:02Speaker 7: in a shootout as we're live.
- 36:04Speaker 3: Also back at Tom's Watch.
- 36:05Speaker 7: Bar right across from Climate Pledge Arena, Mike Benton and
- 36:09Speaker 7: without further ado, andrews Hurst as well, right by my
- 36:12Speaker 7: side here for this evening. Andrew's Happy New Year, My friend,
- 36:15Speaker 7: you really took advantage of the food specials here going
- 36:18Speaker 7: down the fry. Has we're gone about roughly? I would
- 36:21Speaker 7: say two point seven seconds?
- 36:22Speaker 3: Uh yeah, I think what else am I supposed to do?
- 36:25Speaker 26: When you bring me out to Tom's watch Bar, I
- 36:26Speaker 26: mean like they have great food, great.
- 36:28Speaker 3: Eats, and now I know why you signed up for
- 36:30Speaker 3: your past.
- 36:31Speaker 26: Absolutely when you bring my kid, I can come on,
- 36:33Speaker 26: I gotta take advantage.
- 36:35Speaker 3: Let's go.
- 36:35Speaker 7: I had a little bit of a mac and cheese
- 36:37Speaker 7: that might be going out here great, my first time
- 36:40Speaker 7: trying to buffalo chicken. And when you say cheese, I
- 36:43Speaker 7: say yes. It's like when you say jump, I say
- 36:47Speaker 7: how high? You can never I can never, ever say
- 36:50Speaker 7: no to anything cheese related. That might be weakness here
- 36:53Speaker 7: of the diet, but hey, more on that later on
- 36:55Speaker 7: New Year's Resolution.
- 36:56Speaker 21: Mate.
- 36:56Speaker 7: There you go four nine, four or five one texas
- 36:58Speaker 7: right now on the kJ R text and then again,
- 37:00Speaker 7: many ways to kind of go about this. And I
- 37:02Speaker 7: think when you consider the back to backs and they're
- 37:04Speaker 7: gonna be coming in hot and heavy right now in
- 37:06Speaker 7: this schedule, three points out of a possible four not
- 37:10Speaker 7: a total loss, and you can cut a sense maybe
- 37:12Speaker 7: I think in a tone of voice from Jared McCann
- 37:14Speaker 7: that there was some optimism based on the play under
- 37:17Speaker 7: the hood. But again, how many times did they leave
- 37:20Speaker 7: chances here on the table for a game like this
- 37:23Speaker 7: When you go one them six on the power play,
- 37:26Speaker 7: you get a breakaway in the opening shift of this game,
- 37:29Speaker 7: you come up empty on the power play in overtime
- 37:31Speaker 7: and put a goose egg up as well in the shootout.
- 37:34Speaker 7: I mean, it's one that kind of stings as far
- 37:36Speaker 7: as leaving a point on the table Land.
- 37:38Speaker 26: Yeah, and you can look at this game two different ways.
- 37:40Speaker 26: So you can look at it in one way that
- 37:41Speaker 26: you dominated the majority of the opportunity and the run
- 37:45Speaker 26: of play, creating more chances than Vancouver did. The five
- 37:49Speaker 26: on five was pretty even by the end of the game,
- 37:53Speaker 26: but obviously creating six power play opportunities shows that you
- 37:56Speaker 26: were dangerous in many different ways in front of the net.
- 38:00Speaker 3: So you can look at.
- 38:03Speaker 26: The process or you can look at the results the
- 38:04Speaker 26: process in itself. If you play that way, you will
- 38:07Speaker 26: win more hockey games than you will lose, but you
- 38:10Speaker 26: expect to win those games. You have to come out
- 38:12Speaker 26: on top. There's gonna be many games where the Kraken
- 38:14Speaker 26: don't play well and they eke out a victory, right,
- 38:17Speaker 26: And that's the result based way to look at it.
- 38:21Speaker 26: And this one just felt like the Kraken deserve to
- 38:24Speaker 26: win this game from the get go. I love the
- 38:27Speaker 26: physicality that Jared McCann played with and just kind of
- 38:30Speaker 26: his juice he brings to the team that he takes
- 38:34Speaker 26: shots from anywhere. He'll go hit guys, he'll go fight guys.
- 38:37Speaker 26: That scrap with Garner Garland was awesome. I just think
- 38:41Speaker 26: they deserve more from this, but I will still take
- 38:43Speaker 26: three points out of four in the back to back.
- 38:45Speaker 7: Yeah, because they won last night against the Philadelphia team
- 38:47Speaker 7: that has been really picking up steam under rigtocket here
- 38:50Speaker 7: in the last several weeks. And when you get the
- 38:52Speaker 7: Canucks in town here, I mean, they're really kind of
- 38:55Speaker 7: leaning into the bit as far as this being a
- 38:57Speaker 7: growing budding rivalry. I mean, hey, listen, I know that
- 38:59Speaker 7: that they're there is no playoffish to reinvolved with these teams.
- 39:02Speaker 7: They didn't play in the Winter Classics. Some folks thought
- 39:05Speaker 7: that they should have here, different conversation for a different day.
- 39:08Speaker 7: But you can get you I think you can kind
- 39:10Speaker 7: of get the sense that when you put into the
- 39:12Speaker 7: mix here Tyler Myers, Connor Garland, Key for sure, where
- 39:16Speaker 7: shooting a puck into the net in overtime, and Evander Kane,
- 39:18Speaker 7: who can also stir the pot, there are plenty of
- 39:21Speaker 7: opportunities here where the Canucks could have pushed the Kraken
- 39:24Speaker 7: around and each and every time the Kraken said no die.
- 39:28Speaker 7: And I go right back to the Jared McCann fight
- 39:31Speaker 7: with Connor Garland and elbow high up into the head
- 39:34Speaker 7: and mccannon said let's go right now, and the two
- 39:37Speaker 7: dropped the mints and settle things just like that.
- 39:39Speaker 26: Yeah, and I love that response from him, because normally
- 39:42Speaker 26: you're kind of higher offensive talent guys will leave that
- 39:46Speaker 26: to the fourth liners, the scrappy guys that don't play
- 39:51Speaker 26: as much that you can afford to lose. Now, he
- 39:52Speaker 26: wanted to take him right on, right after it happened,
- 39:55Speaker 26: and it just felt like, you know, when they announced
- 39:58Speaker 26: Seattle as the thirty second team, it just felt like, Oh,
- 40:02Speaker 26: they're gonna be an instant rival with Vancouver. It hasn't
- 40:06Speaker 26: necessarily turned into that right away, but like you said,
- 40:09Speaker 26: there's been moments in this specific game. The Tyler Myers
- 40:13Speaker 26: hit on Mount e Veniers a few years ago, and
- 40:16Speaker 26: now you have this game which definitely took another step
- 40:19Speaker 26: in that rivalry. It was a fun game to watch
- 40:22Speaker 26: for the neutral for sure, and I'm a big fan
- 40:24Speaker 26: of those kind of heavyweight jawnt like just Haymakers thrown
- 40:29Speaker 26: left and right between both teams.
- 40:30Speaker 3: Now, I don't want to bury here.
- 40:32Speaker 7: I think the root of the cause for this one
- 40:35Speaker 7: going to a shootout in the crack and losing here.
- 40:37Speaker 7: But I want to get this out of the way,
- 40:38Speaker 7: because again this fourth line is turning plenty ofheads and
- 40:42Speaker 7: Jacob Allonsa continues to do really really good things to
- 40:45Speaker 7: get him noticed and keep him as well in the lineup.
- 40:47Speaker 7: His first career assists, by the way, congratulations to him.
- 40:50Speaker 3: And I think also one.
- 40:51Speaker 26: Of the all time sound bites that he had oh
- 40:55Speaker 26: yeah on this radio network and on these airwaves back
- 40:58Speaker 26: between periods two and three, basically paraphrasing that he doesn't
- 41:02Speaker 26: want maybe, I think to share is a first assist
- 41:05Speaker 26: puck as much as he does for a skullpuck and
- 41:07Speaker 26: he just might give it to his dog.
- 41:10Speaker 3: That fir I mean, you know what I mean.
- 41:12Speaker 7: For a guy who comes in still very young in
- 41:14Speaker 7: the NHL, there is no fear out of him period
- 41:17Speaker 7: when it comes to the spoken word, when it comes
- 41:19Speaker 7: to playing his body language and tonight and assists as
- 41:22Speaker 7: well along with four hits.
- 41:24Speaker 3: It leads me here to this.
- 41:25Speaker 7: For a matchup like this, you figure the krack and
- 41:28Speaker 7: weren't afraid to go after players like Radco Gutis in
- 41:32Speaker 7: Anaheim several days ago before the holiday break.
- 41:36Speaker 3: When is that I mean?
- 41:37Speaker 7: Granted, Milanson drew a penalty against Tyler Myers. But when
- 41:40Speaker 7: is that first chance coming here that he really goes
- 41:44Speaker 7: after Tyler Myers. That could get very, very interesting. And
- 41:47Speaker 7: these two teams again met on January second.
- 41:50Speaker 26: And the thing about Malanson that I love is that
- 41:51Speaker 26: he just plays hard. He's not a guy that's gonna,
- 41:54Speaker 26: you know, do these kind of cheap shot things after
- 41:57Speaker 26: the play.
- 41:57Speaker 3: He just plays the game hard.
- 41:59Speaker 26: He finishes every every single check, and he's a guy
- 42:02Speaker 26: that knows his role. And so many times you see
- 42:06Speaker 26: guys come up from the AHL or just whatever minor
- 42:09Speaker 26: league system that you're playing in, and they are like
- 42:13Speaker 26: high talent guys that expect to eventually be first line players,
- 42:17Speaker 26: but they have to earn their way on an NHL
- 42:20Speaker 26: roster and they start on the fourth line. They're getting
- 42:22Speaker 26: ten minutes a night at most, and they don't know
- 42:25Speaker 26: how to play that role. Malanson is not that. He's
- 42:28Speaker 26: absolutely a guy that came in knew exactly what this
- 42:31Speaker 26: team needed him to do and is doing that right now.
- 42:34Speaker 26: And that fourth line is producing not just because of him.
- 42:37Speaker 26: I gotta throw Ben Meyers some flowers as well. And
- 42:39Speaker 26: Ryan Winterton with you.
- 42:40Speaker 7: He was great at the face off circle, absolutely absolutely,
- 42:42Speaker 7: and I think Coachella Valley has got to be proud. Yeah,
- 42:45Speaker 7: they're missing quite a few bodies here which can really
- 42:47Speaker 7: drive their season. But this is what it's all about,
- 42:50Speaker 7: and preparing players to not just make the NHL, but
- 42:53Speaker 7: stick in the NHL and make an impact in the NHL.
- 42:57Speaker 7: That second goal was coachell O Valley stand up. Yeah,
- 43:00Speaker 7: Malanson even Joey to Cord involved on the goal. You
- 43:03Speaker 7: have Ben Meyer's a call up and you can't take
- 43:05Speaker 7: him out of the lineup right now based on his tenacity,
- 43:08Speaker 7: his grit and also the way that he has additionally
- 43:11Speaker 7: performed in the faceoff circle. And that's a big reason
- 43:13Speaker 7: why that they've been called up and they're sticking up
- 43:16Speaker 7: right now, even amidst the injuries to Jayden Schwartz Jered
- 43:19Speaker 7: McCann back here. But again, you just can't take them
- 43:22Speaker 7: out of the lineup right now. I do want to
- 43:25Speaker 7: get to your reaction right now. Four nine four five one,
- 43:28Speaker 7: which is basically the root of the cost here from
- 43:31Speaker 7: a shootout loss. The difference of that between a win
- 43:34Speaker 7: and that is the shootouts.
- 43:36Speaker 3: And it continues.
- 43:37Speaker 7: I think be an elephant maybe a bit in the
- 43:39Speaker 7: room here based on the reaction here out of this.
- 43:41Speaker 7: But there's two ways to go about this, and I'll
- 43:43Speaker 7: get to this in just a bit here. First off,
- 43:44Speaker 7: the reaction from the four to two five to saying
- 43:47Speaker 7: the shootout just needs some work. Right now, it appears
- 43:50Speaker 7: the crack and we're out of gas, and it just
- 43:52Speaker 7: seems as if they struggle here to feel like that
- 43:54Speaker 7: that they can win once it gets to a shootout,
- 43:57Speaker 7: and so many opportunities were missed in regulation that from
- 44:01Speaker 7: the four to two five, I thought that last part
- 44:03Speaker 7: of that really kind of kind of gets here to
- 44:05Speaker 7: the root of the cause. You don't want to let
- 44:08Speaker 7: this linger all the way into the shootout. Yes, it
- 44:11Speaker 7: is a skill based game, but yet you want to
- 44:14Speaker 7: find your way to capitalize in regulation, capitalize in overtime.
- 44:19Speaker 7: And where the cracking came up short, I think to
- 44:21Speaker 7: me Andrews was number one, the power play and secondly
- 44:24Speaker 7: the first period. They yes, got a one nothing lead
- 44:27Speaker 7: and then to one, but they left so many more
- 44:30Speaker 7: chances on the table, I thought, beginning with the Coppocco
- 44:33Speaker 7: breakaway in the first minute of the game here, Yeah, the.
- 44:36Speaker 26: Game really should have been basically over at that point
- 44:38Speaker 26: based on the opportunities that they had. It should have
- 44:40Speaker 26: been three four zero. They should have thought about pulling,
- 44:44Speaker 26: blanking in and all that stuff. But I want to
- 44:47Speaker 26: come back to the shootout conversation because I think a
- 44:50Speaker 26: lot of people just instantly equate shootout success to skill,
- 44:55Speaker 26: and I think there's a little more to it. I
- 44:57Speaker 26: was looking at the stats the other day. I actually
- 44:59Speaker 26: think Colorado I was over in the shootout this year
- 45:01Speaker 26: as well. Granted they probably only had two or three opportunities,
- 45:04Speaker 26: and I think they're one of the highest skilled teams
- 45:06Speaker 26: in the league. But there's more to it than just oh,
- 45:10Speaker 26: you have skill, you're gonna be good in the shootout.
- 45:12Speaker 26: But there are elements to where the Kraken players seem
- 45:16Speaker 26: to struggle when it gets to that point. They probably
- 45:18Speaker 26: have the lowest shootout goal percentage out of any team
- 45:22Speaker 26: in the NHL because it just feels like it's it's
- 45:25Speaker 26: you were expecting it not to not to work out.
- 45:28Speaker 26: I totally agree with you though on that overtime. It's
- 45:31Speaker 26: the overtime power play that really kind of set the
- 45:33Speaker 26: game up for me and kind of gave the feeling
- 45:36Speaker 26: that they weren't gonna pull this one out when you
- 45:38Speaker 26: have an extended power play, not just two minutes, Because
- 45:42Speaker 26: they had about a minute and a half of polled
- 45:45Speaker 26: goaltender Joey was out out of the crease with the
- 45:48Speaker 26: delayed penalty for a good minute and a half, and
- 45:50Speaker 26: they had a couple opportunities. Vince Done I know, had one,
- 45:53Speaker 26: Ellie Tolvinen had one. I want to say Jared McCann
- 45:56Speaker 26: had one as well. They just gotta find ways to
- 45:59Speaker 26: put those pucks way. And it's not like they're not
- 46:01Speaker 26: creating the opportunities, they just need to finish. So I
- 46:04Speaker 26: totally agree with you. It's it's the process of creating
- 46:08Speaker 26: chances is there. They need someone to finish those off.
- 46:10Speaker 7: By the way, you're not too far off Colorado this
- 46:13Speaker 7: season one and four in the shootout.
- 46:15Speaker 3: The Canucks are also four O.
- 46:16Speaker 7: So I mean again, shootout success does not exactly equate
- 46:19Speaker 7: to overall success. Right, there's a skill game. But again
- 46:22Speaker 7: we hear it over and over and over. It is
- 46:24Speaker 7: such a coin flip here. But I think you know
- 46:26Speaker 7: where I think the root of dissatisfaction is just a
- 46:30Speaker 7: fact that the akra Cans still have come up over
- 46:32Speaker 7: and they're zero for four right now in the shootouts,
- 46:34Speaker 7: but again it goes right back to execution and finding
- 46:37Speaker 7: way to prevent yourself from getting to that coin flip face.
- 46:40Speaker 26: Totally agree, and that's where you pointing out perfectly that
- 46:45Speaker 26: it should have been won in the first period. It
- 46:48Speaker 26: should have been one in overtime where you can control
- 46:51Speaker 26: the run of play a lot more, and it's not
- 46:53Speaker 26: as much of a coin flip as going to the shootout,
- 46:55Speaker 26: because yes, I understand people's frustration with the krakens lack
- 46:59Speaker 26: of success in that front, and it's not been just
- 47:01Speaker 26: this year, It's been previous years as well. This has
- 47:04Speaker 26: been a thing for a while. But you still got
- 47:08Speaker 26: the loser point today. I know it's you know, it's
- 47:10Speaker 26: not everything that they deserved. I feel like they should
- 47:13Speaker 26: have gotten two points from today, especially the way they
- 47:15Speaker 26: played early on, but still three points out of four
- 47:20Speaker 26: in a back to back, you still are very much
- 47:23Speaker 26: in the hunt of it in the wild card race
- 47:26Speaker 26: come towards the end of the new year. So I'm thinking,
- 47:30Speaker 26: I'm honestly, if I'm taking these last two games as
- 47:34Speaker 26: a whole instead of just looking at tonight, I'm thinking
- 47:37Speaker 26: more positive than negatives.
- 47:39Speaker 7: How much more do you feel I think confident about
- 47:42Speaker 7: the crack in their game now than say versus two
- 47:45Speaker 7: weeks ago.
- 47:45Speaker 3: Oh, way, way more.
- 47:47Speaker 26: And the biggest thing for me in the change has
- 47:49Speaker 26: been number one goaltending. It's very easy just to say,
- 47:53Speaker 26: you get better goaltending, do you win more games? And
- 47:55Speaker 26: I think that's just the way that you've seen it
- 47:57Speaker 26: play out. Both Grubauer and Joey to coord tonight played
- 48:01Speaker 26: really really well. But the other thing is special teams.
- 48:04Speaker 26: And the biggest thing is, yes, you could ask for
- 48:08Speaker 26: more from the power play tonight in overtime, They're one
- 48:13Speaker 26: for six is not a great percentage, but I believe
- 48:15Speaker 26: they scored a power play in at least the last
- 48:17Speaker 26: four games. For the last four yes, okay, yeah, but
- 48:21Speaker 26: they've also killed I think they haven't allowed a power
- 48:25Speaker 26: play goal in the last four games, correct. So that
- 48:27Speaker 26: is something where if you're not going to be a
- 48:30Speaker 26: team that dominates five on five play, you have to
- 48:33Speaker 26: take advantage of the special teams opportunities that it's given
- 48:35Speaker 26: to you.
- 48:35Speaker 7: See, and again I heard this recently here from somebody
- 48:38Speaker 7: else who has been looking at this from a twenty
- 48:41Speaker 7: thousand foot view, and the fact that you know the
- 48:43Speaker 7: argument that well, they could be getting caved in and
- 48:44Speaker 7: they're only surviving here. On goaltending and block shots, well, hey,
- 48:47Speaker 7: guess what it's called a grit game exactly. You have
- 48:49Speaker 7: to have goaltending to win games where you feel that
- 48:52Speaker 7: that your back is against the wall. And then when
- 48:54Speaker 7: you can find players as well to block shots, that
- 48:56Speaker 7: is such a huge difference right there. And again, rain
- 48:59Speaker 7: or shine does matter what part of your game shows up.
- 49:02Speaker 7: Goaltending is always a stabilizing factor here, and that's what
- 49:05Speaker 7: Joey to Cord, Philip Grubauer and before we got hurt,
- 49:07Speaker 7: Matt Murray have done.
- 49:09Speaker 26: Yeah, and you can equate it to baseball with really
- 49:11Speaker 26: good pitching, right you trust your guys to play well
- 49:15Speaker 26: in one score games. And that's where the Craken are
- 49:17Speaker 26: at right now. They're gonna always be in close games.
- 49:20Speaker 26: And because they've done it so much, they know what
- 49:23Speaker 26: it takes to get over the line more often than not.
- 49:25Speaker 26: So if you can throw out Joey to Cord and
- 49:29Speaker 26: Philip Grubauer, you know, at this point they're alternating startups.
- 49:33Speaker 26: I think is absolutely deserved. By the way, it's starting
- 49:35Speaker 26: to remind me a little bit of two years ago
- 49:39Speaker 26: in Boston, Lina so Olmark and Jeremy Swayman where you
- 49:41Speaker 26: could throw out any guy and they acted like a
- 49:44Speaker 26: number one goaltender and it just is a perfect tandem.
- 49:47Speaker 26: No guy gets overworked, and that's what's equating to the
- 49:51Speaker 26: crack and success. Right now, they just need to finish
- 49:53Speaker 26: a couple more of those opportunities and I think they'll
- 49:55Speaker 26: be in a great spot.
- 49:55Speaker 7: We'll go to mur Reaction plus also from head coach
- 49:58Speaker 7: Lane Lambert coming up, as we got step aside here
- 50:00Speaker 7: for a brave moment back after this live from Tom's
- 50:04Speaker 7: Watch Bar as a cracking fall three to two in
- 50:06Speaker 7: a shootout to the Vancouver Canucks, now four to zero
- 50:09Speaker 7: to one in their last five and two points back
- 50:13Speaker 7: of a playoff spot in the Western Conference.
- 50:15Speaker 3: We'll come back in a bit.
- 50:16Speaker 7: This is Talking Kracking on ninety three to three KJRFM.
- 50:21Speaker 2: If you've got to come in about tonight's cracking game,
- 50:24Speaker 2: make sure we hear about it. Just text us at
- 50:26Speaker 2: four nine, four five one. Now back to Tucking Kracking
- 50:30Speaker 2: with Mike Benton on Sports Radio ninety three point three
- 50:34Speaker 2: kJ r FM.
- 50:36Speaker 7: We are across from Climate LED's Arena live at Tom's
- 50:39Speaker 7: watch bar again as a cracking fall three to two
- 50:41Speaker 7: to Vancouver in a shootout, and reaction here for the
- 50:44Speaker 7: four to two five saying that they would like to
- 50:47Speaker 7: see Berkeley Canton get a shot here in the shootouts,
- 50:51Speaker 7: but yet also remarking here for progress over last year
- 50:54Speaker 7: to at least get a point from back to back
- 50:57Speaker 7: for that situation now from the four to two five,
- 51:00Speaker 7: Rob on Twitter and next saying that the Kraken just
- 51:03Speaker 7: fell short of season the moment here in a very
- 51:04Speaker 7: very winnable game. That from Rob and also Matt saying
- 51:08Speaker 7: Ryan Winterton should never be scratched and maybe overreacting here,
- 51:12Speaker 7: but we're earning a lot more trust right now in
- 51:14Speaker 7: Cale flooryd to keep playing as well. On the back
- 51:17Speaker 7: end that from Matt on Twitter and X Mike Betton
- 51:20Speaker 7: Andrews hours with you for now though. Back downstairs we
- 51:23Speaker 7: go for more reaction with Crackenhead Coach Lane Lambert Lane.
- 51:28Speaker 27: Not all thirty nine shot games are created equals. Sometimes,
- 51:32Speaker 27: you know, the shot counter runs it up. I mean
- 51:34Speaker 27: this this looked pretty legit tonight and a lot of
- 51:37Speaker 27: great a chances for you guys when you look at
- 51:39Speaker 27: this one, do you just chalk it up to good process,
- 51:42Speaker 27: the results weren't there, or do you look at areas
- 51:44Speaker 27: where yeah, you know, maybe we could have had this one.
- 51:47Speaker 19: Well, look at we played a good hockey game.
- 51:50Speaker 28: We had our opportunities, you know, obviously, like the last
- 51:52Speaker 28: twenty five minutes, I think we will shot them nineteen
- 51:55Speaker 28: to three. We had some some real good looks, some
- 51:58Speaker 28: real good you know, chances to score in regulation for
- 52:04Speaker 28: that matter. Their goaltender played well, and you know, we
- 52:09Speaker 28: keep doing that and playing that way, we'll have success
- 52:12Speaker 28: more often than not.
- 52:17Speaker 17: Landing Aside from you know, the goal that they combined
- 52:19Speaker 17: and what in what ways did you see the fourth
- 52:20Speaker 17: line impact the game tonight?
- 52:23Speaker 28: Well, they impact the game lately, you know with their
- 52:27Speaker 28: their responsible Uh, they're quick, they're physical. You know, obviously
- 52:34Speaker 28: a huge goal for US Winderton. Alonso made a nice
- 52:38Speaker 28: play on that. But you know they they create energy
- 52:43Speaker 28: for our hockey team and they do it responsibly.
- 52:48Speaker 17: And just given you know how stop and start his
- 52:50Speaker 17: season has been so far, How do you feel about
- 52:52Speaker 17: McCann kind of engaging with Garland there, you know, risking
- 52:56Speaker 17: could be a rest to his health potentially.
- 52:58Speaker 19: What are your thoughts on that?
- 52:59Speaker 28: Well, I you know, I think it just shows a
- 53:02Speaker 28: lot about the character Jared mccannn And you know, Garland accepted.
- 53:06Speaker 28: You know, I thought it was I thought it was
- 53:10Speaker 28: hockey and sometimes things happen, and you know, I got
- 53:16Speaker 28: a lot of respect for Jared McCann.
- 53:18Speaker 17: Would you rather teammate step into that situation?
- 53:21Speaker 19: He took care of it on his own. Sometimes you
- 53:23Speaker 19: got to do that, Leanne, you.
- 53:25Speaker 11: Mentioned the energy of the fourth line there. How much
- 53:27Speaker 11: is has Malanson kind of meant to that? It seems
- 53:29Speaker 11: like he's more than willing to throw the body around
- 53:30Speaker 11: me some place where he gets his first point to
- 53:32Speaker 11: what is he kind of brought to you guys since
- 53:34Speaker 11: kind of joining your club your full time.
- 53:35Speaker 28: Yeah, he's brought an element that you know that we
- 53:38Speaker 28: don't necessarily have physical strong. He can skate, you know,
- 53:44Speaker 28: he finishes every check and you know he's making a
- 53:48Speaker 28: good statement for himself here, uh and taken advantage of
- 53:51Speaker 28: his opportunity.
- 53:56Speaker 11: And what you what'd you think of the power play
- 53:57Speaker 11: opportunity and overtime there, specifically at the end you get
- 54:00Speaker 11: the last minute forty with the advantage, with the chances
- 54:02Speaker 11: you kind of created, whatuld you think about that stretch.
- 54:05Speaker 28: I thought we created a couple of you know, we
- 54:07Speaker 28: probably could have created a couple of more. You know,
- 54:09Speaker 28: they were able to clear the pucket couple of times,
- 54:11Speaker 28: which you know takes some time off it, There's no
- 54:14Speaker 28: question about that.
- 54:15Speaker 19: But certainly, you know, there was a couple of passes
- 54:18Speaker 19: that we had, We felt like we.
- 54:19Speaker 28: Had, you know, some empty net opportunities you know, Mccanndaberley,
- 54:24Speaker 28: and we just didn't.
- 54:25Speaker 19: We weren't able to execute on it. You know.
- 54:28Speaker 28: There we did earlier in the game, real nice playoffs
- 54:31Speaker 28: the face off there to McCann, you know, and like
- 54:35Speaker 28: I said, you know we some nights they go in,
- 54:38Speaker 28: some nights they don't. Our power play has been very
- 54:39Speaker 28: good for us.
- 54:42Speaker 19: Well.
- 54:42Speaker 7: That reaction from krackenhead coach Lane Lamberda is really the
- 54:45Speaker 7: crack and have no choice but to take a lot
- 54:47Speaker 7: of what they had as far as the plausa is,
- 54:49Speaker 7: because this is what's going to get them through right
- 54:51Speaker 7: now and keep them in this playoff mix here at
- 54:53Speaker 7: this point two points back at the cut line, and
- 54:56Speaker 7: I think a lot of the reaction is kind of
- 54:58Speaker 7: crystallize here by this from Davis on Twitter and next
- 55:01Speaker 7: saying team played well, didn't get the bounces they had
- 55:04Speaker 7: to get to get this one here. But the offense
- 55:06Speaker 7: is still very much an area of need, and I
- 55:08Speaker 7: think that goes to where you work so hard to
- 55:11Speaker 7: create and now you're looking for execution and for finish.
- 55:14Speaker 26: Yeah, and you know you can. Again, we can look
- 55:17Speaker 26: at it two different ways. You can look at it
- 55:18Speaker 26: by the chances you created, the way you dominated the
- 55:21Speaker 26: run of play, or you can look at it the
- 55:23Speaker 26: lack of finish. And that's just kind of the story
- 55:27Speaker 26: of the Craken season so far, to be completely honest.
- 55:30Speaker 26: And you know, when they get those, you know, one
- 55:32Speaker 26: or two extra finishes where they could put games away
- 55:35Speaker 26: even earlier than even getting to overtime, as you mentioned
- 55:38Speaker 26: in that first period, I think that makes a huge difference.
- 55:42Speaker 26: But you still end up getting the point. You still
- 55:46Speaker 26: end up getting three out of four out of this
- 55:48Speaker 26: back to back, and in the last two back to
- 55:50Speaker 26: backs combined. We talked about back to backs coming into
- 55:52Speaker 26: this year overall, and the last two back to backs
- 55:55Speaker 26: eight total points. You got seven. So we'll take that
- 55:58Speaker 26: all day now. Before we get out of here.
- 56:00Speaker 7: Briefly touched on Nashville, I did want to also touch
- 56:02Speaker 7: on the Jared McCann and Connor Garland insign and listen, look,
- 56:06Speaker 7: I think fair to question do you want to have
- 56:09Speaker 7: someone else kind of handle that scrap for you, because
- 56:11Speaker 7: McCann is not a tough guy by trade, he's a score.
- 56:14Speaker 7: But I think what we've learned about Jared McCann over
- 56:16Speaker 7: the years, there's some bite and there's some snarl to
- 56:19Speaker 7: him when he is challenged. I go back and think
- 56:21Speaker 7: of the Calee mccarr incident back in the playoffs, and
- 56:24Speaker 7: he went out from what I saw and challenge mccar.
- 56:27Speaker 3: Over and over and over. It wouldn't drop the gloves.
- 56:30Speaker 3: This time.
- 56:30Speaker 7: McCann got the short straw of that elbow wanted to
- 56:33Speaker 7: settle it right there. And that's why McCann is respected
- 56:36Speaker 7: from what Lane Lambert said, where he can handle his
- 56:38Speaker 7: own business well.
- 56:39Speaker 3: And there's two positives to that.
- 56:40Speaker 26: Number one is you have a guy you can score goals,
- 56:44Speaker 26: who can create offense for you, obviously and Jared McCann,
- 56:48Speaker 26: but a guy who also can will stand up in
- 56:49Speaker 26: those opportunities.
- 56:50Speaker 1: Right.
- 56:51Speaker 26: Like I said earlier, a lot of times you'll see
- 56:53Speaker 26: your top end point getters that will kind of shy
- 56:57Speaker 26: away from that opportunity. But the other thing about the
- 57:01Speaker 26: Crackett and their roster construction, Yes you can, you can
- 57:04Speaker 26: point to the lack of true top line talent that
- 57:08Speaker 26: they have on this team.
- 57:09Speaker 3: But when you.
- 57:10Speaker 26: Don't have that, the drop off from like a Jared
- 57:13Speaker 26: mccannon being out for five minutes for fighting, yeah, to
- 57:15Speaker 26: what like whatever else is gonna be out there is
- 57:18Speaker 26: not that high. So he can set that bar, send
- 57:21Speaker 26: that message and do what it needs to do it
- 57:23Speaker 26: needs to be done in order to answer the call
- 57:26Speaker 26: himself and make sure that no one's gonna go out
- 57:28Speaker 26: and you know, put cheap shots on him like Connor Garlank.
- 57:31Speaker 7: That's a very good point. So the Krackt now head
- 57:33Speaker 7: into the new year with the Nashville Predators back to back.
- 57:36Speaker 7: It'll be the sixth to one of the season incoming here,
- 57:38Speaker 7: and I think when you face a team that's got
- 57:40Speaker 7: a veteran presence here to it. Steven Stamcos won goal
- 57:43Speaker 7: the way from six hundred, that's gonna be a big
- 57:45Speaker 7: story here coming into Seattle. Yet the cracket are trying
- 57:48Speaker 7: to slow down a Nashville team that again, when you
- 57:50Speaker 7: have veteran presence. They have a lot of savvy in
- 57:53Speaker 7: these kind of high impact games, and well, coming up
- 57:56Speaker 7: here for New Year's Day, it's gonna be no exception
- 57:58Speaker 7: because these two teams are that close right now in
- 58:01Speaker 7: the West.
- 58:01Speaker 26: Yeah, and they Nashville started really slow, They've really picked
- 58:04Speaker 26: it up as of late. It's gonna be a really
- 58:06Speaker 26: good matchup. U. C. SARLs is playing great goaltending and
- 58:09Speaker 26: they have they have some talent. They're one of those
- 58:11Speaker 26: teams that for the last year and a half, for
- 58:14Speaker 26: whatever reason, hasn't made it work. They're just starting to
- 58:17Speaker 26: find their groove right now. I think they're a very
- 58:19Speaker 26: dangerous team. This should be a really really good matchup.
- 58:21Speaker 7: Ryan O'Reilly came in the subject of a lot of
- 58:24Speaker 7: trade shatter right now, yet leading score heading into today
- 58:28Speaker 7: a little over thirty points. They're one of the better
- 58:30Speaker 7: teams at the face off circle right now, seven best
- 58:33Speaker 7: of the crack and had to really be ready for
- 58:35Speaker 7: it off the jump right at the dot as well
- 58:38Speaker 7: as Nashville again tonight on the road knocked off Utah
- 58:41Speaker 7: and the two teams right now just one point apart
- 58:44Speaker 7: in a very packed Western Conference, still bidding for the
- 58:47Speaker 7: inside of the Western Conference wildcard spots. That's our next
- 58:52Speaker 7: matchup New Year's Day again. I hope that you can
- 58:54Speaker 7: certainly join us, but for now, time to say good
- 58:56Speaker 7: night or thanks again to Travis Moger, technical director, also
- 59:00Speaker 7: Harry Ryan, our on site engineer, and that will do
- 59:02Speaker 7: it for here.
- 59:03Speaker 3: For andrews Hurst, this is.
- 59:05Speaker 7: Mike Benton saying good night from Climate Pledge Arena and
- 59:08Speaker 7: Tom's Watchbar. Happy New Year to you, Please be safe
- 59:11Speaker 7: and thank you for joining us as well. Your final
