• DJ Rubbabann: A one-two, a one-two. You are listening to Caddy B and DJ Rubber Band on Building 341. We just perking y'all. We just chilling. We just trying to feed y'all. We need y'all to hit the subscriptions up. Like y'all gotta like, subscribe, like your boy. Like your boy rubber. Like your boy caddy. You know what I'm saying? Like us. Caddey B: We don't want it. Get us up there. Get us up there. We're trying to get it you know, we want to get monetized too like everybody else. DJ Rubbabann: Yeah. Yeah, Caddy B. So today is I won't say today, 'cause we might not put that we not might not put that up. But what was your what was your Fourth of July like? Are you patriotic? Did you did you did you take a toke f for the fours? What you do? Caddey B: Meh I didn't do nothing. Like literally, like I made a fort in my living room and I watched movies all weekend long. It just maxing and relaxing, just chilling. Yeah, yeah, yeah. You know, just just chilling. DJ Rubbabann: Quality time. Quality time. Man, see, man. And you know me. I'm I'm like Bob. You know me. I'm always bobbing and weaving. Like a Jamaican, two, three jobs. You know what I Bobbin and weaving. But no, it was good. It was chill. Like I said, you know, everybody was doing their thing. It was a couple parties I was supposed to go to, but dude, my energy just said. Caddey B: Okay. DJ Rubbabann: Stay home and just chill. You know what mean? So it was chill. Caddey B: That's how ours was too. We were supposed to go to some stuff, we just like nah DJ Rubbabann: You know, we just chill. So what about new movies? Any new movies y'all Caddey B: One of the ones we watched was was that one by Riza. That one spoon of chocolate. It's a great movie. Like, I mean it's legit, but it's it's hard to watch. It's it's hard, it's hard it's hard to watch. You know what I mean? Like it's just about DJ Rubbabann: Now what makes it great though? What makes it great though? Like what though? Caddey B: It's about how in certain places there's still a lot of racism. And it's this whole town that's DJ Rubbabann: Okay. Caddey B: you know the the races the rednecks run it. DJ Rubbabann: Was it depicted current or was it like back in the day? Caddey B: And It's more current. DJ Rubbabann: Okay, okay. Caddey B: It's more current. It's dope. Y'all just gotta go check it out. Like, I mean the ris the ris DJ Rubbabann: Well what makes it dope though? That what makes it that ain't a good I mean, okay, d I'ma say this. I'ma say this. Let me say this. No, let me say this and then you can finish. Just let me say I'm I'm gonna cut you off. so if it's a lot of racism in today's culture, I want somebody to be a superhero. I want them to call them super N I G G A. I want to have special powers. I want them to burn everything down. Caddey B: It's got so Yeah, yeah, yeah. He ain't he ain't got he ain't got special powers but but it's it's it's Riza so there's woo there's there's kung fu. So dude's ex military, he's trained, and then he he got into some trouble, he's in jail, he gets out, and he just starts training. He's just trying to all he's trying to do is just go be with his family off in another state. DJ Rubbabann: Okay. Caddey B: He wants to leave New York, go to see them, go go live with his cousin, and he gets there and everything's good. And then all of a sudden it just pops off. And I won't go into any more 'cause that's just gonna give away the movie. DJ Rubbabann: Look at you. Look, look at you. You better put the trailer in there or something. We gotta put the trailer in there or something when we post. But you know what? It reminds me of a of another movie that I think it's like, and you tell me, is it even is it even similar? So it was a good movie in the 70s when it was black exportation, and it's called The Spook Who Said by the Door. So the Spook Who Set by the Door was when the government told all these agencies you gotta Caddey B: But I mean DJ Rubbabann: Put minorities in there. You got to put women in there. You got to put, and it's ironic, like right now, they're taking all that away. You gotta, you know, we gotta put minorities in there. We gotta put women in there. We gotta put other minorities. So what they did in the FBI, CIA, whichever one, they got the best of the best African-American men. And it's cameras all around. So they got the ones, you know, very affluent, different ones, and they had cameras and they listened to everything, what they were saying. So they trained them. Caddey B: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. DJ Rubbabann: And I want to say it was 12 of them. And so the one black guy, he was ex-military. This is the this is why I brought that up. And he was quiet. Cause of course, being kind of elitist, a lot of them was leaders, had leadership qualities. A lot of them had a lot to say, you know, about white people when they left. Cracker, cracker, you know, all this, all this stuff, right? So they listening. They listening to the whole thing. It's a movie. It's called The Spookyo said by the door. So they listening. So Caddey B: Yeah, yeah, yeah. DJ Rubbabann: They would go through and they would say, okay, Johnny and James and Lewis, they really good at math, but they're not good at athletics. Do this to them. Get them out the way. And then this one and this one, he talked too much. So they slowly was getting them all out. So finally, the one that was quiet, the one that had a lot of control, the one he wanted to win. He wanted to be a a CIA or FBI agent. Like he just really wanted to be that. And Caddey B: Yeah, yeah, yeah. DJ Rubbabann: They kept trying to get him to fail, but he wouldn't fail. And so he wound up becoming the first FBI agent. And this is fiction, so to speak. So he wound up becoming the first FBI CIA agent. And they put the Negro in the basement and had him do papers. Just shuffle papers. So he quit and he went to the hood. And that's what makes the movie good. Because he he he did. Caddey B: Yeah. DJ Rubbabann: You know what mean? You know when you when you get when you get somebody to the point to where they ain't got nothing to lose, you know what I mean? I hate that. Like I hate when you see people we know a lot of broken people that you just go, Man, you really would just do that? You gonna just mess your whole life up for that? Like you just gonna do that? And we know people like that. Like we me and me and Caddy know people that Caddey B: yeah. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah. We got family members. DJ Rubbabann: Yeah, I ain't trying to put your business out of mine either, but we do. We do. Caddey B: I y y I mean, everybody does though. See that's the thing. It that's the thing, everybody does. Like if you don't, like I mean, you lying. DJ Rubbabann: Right, right. So this movie you telling me about, I'm saying this you guys because I really watch my negative intake. You know what I mean? I watch my negative in intake. You know what I mean? So when I say that like I don't even watch a I watch some of it, but I don't watch Every day, like this happened negative. Who this got shot? This one got shot. This one just da da da. And then in Compton, recently over the 4th of July weekend, some of my family and friends was telling me somebody got shot, one of the one of the people in the government, Compton. Cause it is a movement in Compton for a lot of people with money to stay in Compton and change Compton and make it better. You know what I mean? And so when you see things like this, it makes you say. Caddey B: Yeah. DJ Rubbabann: Cause you know when people get around fireworks and they shooting guns and you know it's just shout out everybody, man. Shout out everybody. Shout out, you know, for making this movie, you know, Rizza. So tell me it's a love scene. Tell me it's a love scene. It's a redhead in there, and she's beautiful. Give me something. Give me something, B. Give me something before we move on. Feed me with something. Caddey B: Mm-hmm. Yeah. Mm. yeah, no, I mean I can't. You gotta watch it. Like you just gotta watch it. It it's it's tough it's it's a tough watch. It is, it's tough watch. DJ Rubbabann: man, I hate Don't you hate don't you hate when your friends tell you about about movies and they don't tell you the whole movie in the comment, you tell me what you think. I like people to tell me the movie. Caddey B: The whole thing. You want the ending, you want everything. You are i not just the not just li DJ Rubbabann: I wanna know who got shot. Was it somebody pretty in there? Caddey B: He takes he take he ta he takes care of everybody. Yeah. Yeah. No, it's it's it's a it's a DJ Rubbabann: I don't know if I wanna hear Wu Tang music and somebody getting shot. Caddey B: There is no there's not much Wu Tang music in there, but the but the soundtrack's dope. DJ Rubbabann: Okay, okay, alright. Alright. Mama say mama saw. Alright. Caddey B: Yeah. No, it's worth checking out. Okay. But what you know It's good though, it's it's i it's a good flick. Like, you know, my girl, she had a hard time watching it. She was just mad. DJ Rubbabann: Caddy, caddy. Caddey B: She was just mad. She's like like she just kept sitting there, you know, effing white people. DJ Rubbabann: But that's what I'm saying, like our negative intake for anybody. We have to kinda you know, we live in a society where it's boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, you know, and so it I mean, just like the library shooting, like in Chico, California, you know, what brought that young man to do what he did? You know? Like what what made him do that? When I listen to Brother Lynch hung and he talking about eating people, it didn't make me want to eat people. Caddey B: Yeah. Yeah. DJ Rubbabann: You know? When your boy Scarface describes being depressed and what he did and the whole thing, I'm like, damn. That's how it is? Damn. Like, I wanna see some of that, but I don't want to be dark the whole movie. Even Machiavelli. Caddey B: No, It's not dark. It's it's not it's not dark the whole movie. You know what I mean? There's some fun scenes and you know there's there's there's there's some love story ish in there. And y and your girl, your girl your girl's in it too. Your girl, Michael Jackson's daughter, she's in it. DJ Rubbabann: okay. Right, right, right. All right, all right. It's like that Tupac, that Machiavelli album. Who Michael Jackson's daughter in the move. for real? She in there? His real daughter? I thought you was talking about Nia Long or something. His real daughter? Hey. Tiny from Escape in there? Like who went there? Like Caddey B: Yeah, yeah. Yeah. You wish. You would have you would have been telling me you Yeah. Yeah, she's she's like a major role in it. DJ Rubbabann: Yeah yeah. Okay. So is she acting? What? Okay, okay. I might go. Man, I just don't want to see the negative. Just don't tell me what you guys think in the comments. Like, I mean, it's not wrong with negative. And I listen to that. I you know, I do the I listen in the negative too. But it's just for your own mental health, for your own life, you gotta monitor so much negative. Because there's so much of it out there, y'all. There's so much of it out there. You know, I was I was listening to Oskino. Caddey B: It it comes back, it comes back around. It is. I mean anytime you DJ Rubbabann: Who used to be with the Young Guns on Rockefeller and he made a diss on the Jay-Z after he dissed him on the Roots picnic in that freestyle, and he put a tight, y'all need to listen to Oskino's freestyle dissing the whole and when you listen to him, he's a street dude, but he makes sense and he's stuttering, but he's just, man, it just like Caddey B: Mm-hmm. yeah. He put a pin he put a pin in that one. DJ Rubbabann: You know, he just Yeah. I was even listening to some of his YouTube game the other day. I was like he was just spitting it. He was like, Man, I don't wanna go to LA. They want me to move to LA. They wanna give me a whole bunch of money. I I wanna be in Philly. I still wanna be in Philly. So shout out Oskino, man. Hit me up in the comments, man. T let me know if y'all watch Oskino, man. I was Oskino out there doing it right now. Caddey B: yeah. Yeah. DJ Rubbabann: You know, and shout out the movie The Spooko Set by the Door. It's from the 70s. I got the VHS, I got the CD, and I got the soundtrack. The spooky set by the door. And the only other person I really heard talk about the spook who set by the door was me and Nipsey Hustle. If y'all know anybody else that talk about it, put it in the comments. Me or Nipsey Hustle. You listen to some of his lyrics, he talk about that. And it's that basic concept. Caddey B: yeah, yeah. Mm. Yeah, yeah. DJ Rubbabann: Of walking into something, and that's been my life, really. That's if you really study DJ Rubber Band, I walked into a room and just made it happen. And they wasn't even looking at me. I made it happen. It's just it's just when you study my whole thing, you know. So shout out that movie. So which I'll watch when y'all got home after that. Caddey B: Okay. Yeah. Yeah. One spoon of chocolate. DJ Rubbabann: What movie did y'all watch after that chocolate movie? Damn, did you play a love song when you got home? Like damn. Caddey B: What did we watch? We w yeah we watched something that was funny, I can't r that one on on Netflix with John Cena. I can't remember the name of it. DJ Rubbabann: okay. I like him. I like him. I like him. Was that the one with him him and him and his wife or whatever going on vacation? Caddey B: Yeah. And that was funny. That was good. No no no him and him and like a the stepbrother or like this big brother program that he was in. And then dude finds him. Yeah. It just came out like a week or two ago. But that was good. That was funny. You know, it'd be a good change up. You know. You know. Did you go watch fireworks and be patriotic? DJ Rubbabann: yeah, yeah, yeah, that one yeah, that's funny too. Yeah, yeah, yeah, that's funny too. Yeah. Alright. Alright, I'ma leave you alone. I'ma leave alone. I'ma le alone. Man, you know, you know, on paperwork, you know, on paperwork I'm a I'm a middle class white dude, you know, so you know, white folks is outside doing fireworks, you know. Hey, rubber, you wanna come over? You want some sprinklers, some sparklers? All that. All that patriotic, you know, drinking, no no cops come by, you they sh they do it. They got chairs and couches, you know, code de sac, they smiling. Caddey B: huh. DJ Rubbabann: And you know, the dogs get scared, but you know, it's just man, represent how you represent, won't it? Long as it's love. I figured like as long as it's love, represent. Cause you really can't control hate. You can't control hate. Caddey B: yeah. No. No. Ramp it, you know. DJ Rubbabann: yeah. yeah, dude. yeah, dude. Caddey B: Yeah. My my cat my cat didn't care for it too much, but you know. DJ Rubbabann: You let lay on the bed? I know y'all didn't let lay on the bed, huh? What y'all do? Put in the closet or something? Caddey B: yeah, no, he fine. Nah, he's fine. He get on the bed. He stay down. DJ Rubbabann: Alright, all right. Alright. It was hard to get that cat. You know, y'all didn't want that cat. It was hard. Y'all got that cat. Okay, okay. So man, what Caddey B: He moved in. He just came he came over. Yeah. DJ Rubbabann: you think about me and you've been talking about just a lot of our friends in the industry and people we want to represent for building 341 and one of the people that we have a lot of love and respect for. It's DJ T S Red, you know what I mean? Caddey B: Yeah, yeah. Shred be doing it, you know. And you know, he he still does sets on vinyl and just all vinyl. DJ Rubbabann: Right. He was a wild white boy. He was a wild white boy back in the day too. Caddey B: You know, he got a Yeah, yeah, that's for sure. That's for sure. You know, but I mean he w he w he did the Red Bull thing. He went to Tokyo, like DJ Rubbabann: Yeah, you travel the world. Caddey B: Yeah, yeah. DJ Rubbabann: And he and he's still down to earth and and one of the things that I really admire and respect about Ted is Ted is still Ted. Like he is who he is. He's authentic to himself. He's authentic to himself. You know. And so I met Ted in the nineties. He was on KZFR before me. And he was on KZFR before me doing the show. Like Caddey B: Yeah. yeah, he he ain't he ain't never changed. DJ Rubbabann: Like Boomshot Show, I think it was. I'ma let him tell that whole story. And and we knew each other. That's gonna be a crazy but I remember coming straight from LA, I'm like, let me see how this fool is on the turntables. Let me see. Let me see. You know, and it was small then. And I was like, Okay, okay, okay, okay, okay. And back then I think he used to sell T shirts, he used to be had the skateboard, Caddey B: Mm-hmm. Yeah, we're gonna get him on. Well, that's gonna be a long one. yeah, yeah. DJ Rubbabann: I I think I love the fact that he had a free spirit and he just he just did it. When you work in the music business, one of the things that if you're not extremely lucky, like sometimes it's talent, but sometimes it's just being in the right place at the right time. And sometimes what'll hold you back in this music business is not taking opportunities majorly. Majorly opportunity. I didn't been in rooms. I didn't been in rooms. And I'm gonna be honest with my own self. Like I didn't been in rooms where people was like, I want you to be in this movie, or I want you to do this. And I'm like, Man, I'm keeping it real. Man, I ain't doing that. You know what I mean? And then later on you see the project. It's certain movies, you know, certain scenarios you go, Man. And then relationships with labels. Caddey B: yeah, definitely. Yeah. DJ Rubbabann: With certain artists. It's so much to all of that. And nobody teaches you that. It wasn't TikTok or what even with TikTok and all these other various ways. One of the things I want to talk to Ted about is how did you keep the love for this up? Like, how did you cause you could tell he still loved DJing? I still love DJing. I still love mixing and doing sets. And so I want to talk about that. My boy DJ Shook. Caddey B: yeah. DJ Rubbabann: I remember he told me because I don't usually post all that kind of stuff. And I remember Suge, he DJs all over. He gets on the plane and goes wherever. And he was like, Man, you ain't no DJ no more. I was What you say? I was like, fool, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. But I love it though, that energy. And I'ma have him come on too, DJ Suge, out of the Bay Area. You know what I'm saying? Shout out Suge. But Ted, yeah. So he does a show now on KZFR every other Sunday. Caddey B: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. It's late. It's at it's at like nine o'clock. DJ Rubbabann: What time? What time? Caddey B: Yeah, it's at nine o'clock at night and it's him and another DJ O Snap and MC Tic Tac. It's called Hits Different. DJ Rubbabann: Okay. Okay. Is C Tic Tac from old school Tic Tacs? Caddey B: I'm assuming so. DJ Rubbabann: See we gotta I gotta mess with Ted that he'll really he'll really be like but no I gotta we gotta check it out. And they doing vinyl, they mixing live or they it's pre recorded. Caddey B: It live live mixes. Live remixes on turntables. I'll put the flyer I'll put the fly I'll put the flyer up in DJ Rubbabann: Okay, okay, put that in there. Yeah. Caddey B: in in in this video so y'all can check that out but go show him love he did a mix last not not this last on the twenty sixth and he shouted us out on there and he cho he cho he chop he chopped up he chopped up he chopped up one of our episodes that we did with with past your events and so it goes he chopped up your voice TJ Rover Band Building 341 DJ Rubbabann: I wanna look I wanna talk to Ted. Did he really? Caddey B: V Love, V Love, V Love, V Love. Building three forty one. Building three forty one. DJ Rubbabann: V Man, man, man, man. That's why y'all gotta get our prescriptions up. Get out get our likes and prescriptions like man and see you know me, I'm pulling it out of Ted. I'm like, Ted, give me a wild story, man. Cause give me a wild story about KZFR, because I got I ain't even really told none of my KZFR stuff, cause we got good and bad. Like, you know what I mean? Like I retired from there, but I didn't work I didn't work a lot of radio stations. Caddey B: He tried he j Uh-huh. DJ Rubbabann: But KZFR raised me. KZFR raised DJ Rebel Band. I didn't work that. Man, but K I got wild stories. I'm gonna tell you one. I'm gonna tell you one that wasn't crazy, but I'm gonna tell you one. So at the time, nobody else was playing hip hop but me up until you get to Sacramento. Going towards Reading, they had 107.1 and then 90.1, right? So I'm all on the radio. So I'm getting groupies showing up. I'm getting. Every kind of person showing up, right? Like farmers, like all kind of the man, you just it's crazy stuff. So my show was every Thursday from three to five thirty, which always ran on a Thanksgiving. Sometimes I would get people to do my show on Thanksgiving, but sometimes I would be there. Right? So I never forget. Never forget. So these two ladies came in there and back then, I don't know about now, the door would just be open. Caddey B: Mm-hmm. DJ Rubbabann: Cause it was community radio, so people could just walk in there, which is the worst thing, right? So they walk in and they sit down and then it's the room where the DJ booth. So I'm doing my thing, and you know me, I'm crazy, I'm talking, and it's two girls in there. So I put on a mix and I go out there and they like, hey, da da da, we came down here, it's Thanksgiving, we got you something to eat, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. And I was like, okay. Now I usually always take people's food, but I never eat it because I don't know who I don't know you, whatever. So I didn't see I Caddey B: Yeah. DJ Rubbabann: didn't see no plates. I didn't see no plates or nothing. So the girls come up, she goes, This is what I brought you to eat. Can I be in on the microphone? And so we we go in there. And and I don't always let people do that because you don't know what they're gonna say. It's live on radio. And one of them was standing up and she had a coat and she was like, This is what I brought you to eat. And she was naked, a white girl. Caddey B: Yeah, yeah. DJ Rubbabann: I was like, wow, wow, Thanksgiving, wow. And this was the 90s. This is like the nine, maybe early 2000s. So I'm laughing. She's laughing. We sat down. I interviewed her. Turns out she was married. Her husband was listening on the radio. I was like, Y'all, wow. What y'all do? Man, y'all, wow. Y'all, you know, you know me. I'm going in there. I play a song for them. We go back and forth. They leave. Now my personality, I turn up. Caddey B: yeah, yeah. DJ Rubbabann: But I'm drained now. I'm drained now. So I locked the door. So I think that was the beginning. Cause I always would like to do Because everybody would just think they my best friend. They know me. You know me. You know my personality. So I I just wanted to do my show. I just wanted to do my show. So, dude, I unlocked it for some re to go somewhere. So many people came in. And this dude, this is on the same day. This dude came in with a package. It was wrapped up all nice. Caddey B: Uh-huh. Yeah, yeah, yeah. yeah yeah yeah yeah. DJ Rubbabann: Thanksgiving. And he told and and and he had it written on the card, you need to chill out. You need to chill out. You're too serious. You're too deep. And he had a cigarette like taped to the card. He had a cigarette taped to the card. And then he wrote on there, TikTok, here's a bomb, blah blah blah. And I looked, I I looked, and it wasn't a bomb, but I looked and it was like something like in there in the thing. I was like Caddey B: Yeah, yeah. DJ Rubbabann: Man, man. So I locked the door after that. I locked the door. And then of course I still opened it. I did it was way crazy. And that's kind of mild. And it's been mostly good over the years, but you never know, B. B. I didn't see B. I and I gave those, and this was on the same day. The naked chick and the cigarette with the bomb. Caddey B: Mm mm. yeah. yeah. I believe it. 'Cause I mean it's it's it's also it's right there downtown, like it's like DJ Rubbabann: Yeah, yeah. Still man. And then remember. Yeah. Yeah, and then and then it's nobody. So back then, I don't know about now, you were the only one there when you were doing your show a lot of the times. Unless they were having a meeting or s and then the you know secretary could have been somewhere else, you know. And de and then definitely I was the the black sheep of KZFR. Even though I made them extremely popular too and won stuff and did stuff, I was doing other stuff too, but they love me. Caddey B: Mm-hmm. Yeah, yeah. 'Cause 'cause I mean it's it DJ Rubbabann: But I was off the hook. I was off the hook. And owning it. And owning I was off the hook, right? And so I mean I easily could have been. I easily could have and I knew everybody everywhere. I easily could have man, man. But shout out KZFR. Caddey B: Yeah. Now you gotta now now there's a little thing you gotta buzz in, so you gotta call up to whatever room you're going into and then they gotta let you in the door. The main door at the bottom. DJ Rubbabann: See that's good. See that's good. Yeah. And then everybody's a rapper. Caddey B: I mean it's o it's it's it's open during the day, you like s business hours kind of thing, but most of the time it's closed. DJ Rubbabann: Most of the time. Which they should. Yeah, which they should. And then Eric, shout out Eric was the founder of K Z Fr and that was my guy. They used to go up to the s go up to the tower and do something. It wasn't where it's at now. It used to be on twentieth Street. And then we moved over there. But but shout out KZFR. Nothing but love and Boomshot. Boomshot, you know what I mean? And then Tess Red, my guy, respect. We respect. You gotta get respect. Caddey B: Yeah. Mm-hmm. Yeah, they still doing it. yeah, yeah. DJ Rubbabann: I ain't even telling y'all about the twins and the redheads and and every rapper that came to town came to see me. I ain't telling you about my interns and crazy stuff they did and making collect calls on the on the phone, the Hawaii rappers coming up there, random, coked out. Every kind of crazy story was in that building with me. You know what I mean? Remember my boy Mike dog? Remember my boy Mike? Big Mike? Caddey B: Mm. Huh. yeah. Yep, yep, yep. DJ Rubbabann: Man, I used to be like, Mike, take him home. Take him home because he's on one and let him sober up because he got a show tonight. He was like, Well take my car, don't mess every wild story. It w every imagine cause I did it forever. I did it 15 six I did it forever. And I'm torn, yeah, yeah, and I'm touring, I'm all over, I'm other radio stations. Caddey B: yeah, it seemed like forever. DJ Rubbabann: Everybody's like, man, get get off KZFR. But that was my baby. That was my baby, Freedom of Death. Caddey B: It was. I I mean and you wasn't getting paid. DJ Rubbabann: That's but when when I finally retired, everybody was like, How could you do it? How could you do it? How could you do it? What are you gonna do? I'm like, I got a whole two, three other careers. I had got a whole other I was making money. I was that was just my baby. It was like it was like what we say in the hood, that was my bottom bitch. You know what I mean? You knew you know what I mean? You knew Caddey B: That's the crazy part. Like, yeah. Yeah. yeah, for sure. yeah. DJ Rubbabann: So shout out K Z Fr. And I ain't really gonna go deep 'cause I can go way everywhere with K Z Fr. Like, but definitely nothing but love though. And that's why when Ted come on, I'm gonna go deep with Ted. 'Cause Ted know. Ted gotta know. Caddey B: yeah, that that one there'll be there'll be clips from there that that I'm sorry, but y'all gonna have to pay for. Those are gonna be on those are gonna be under those are gonna be under memberships. Those are gonna be you're gonna have to subscribe. Like you're gonna have to like you're gonna have to get in there with us. We got we got so many things coming up. DJ Rubbabann: And the thing about and the thing about yeah, yeah, yeah. yeah. And a lot of rappers said this. yeah, dude. A lot of rappers said this, but it means something. When you first, you get it the worst. When you first at something and you successful, you get it the worst. You don't think everybody just see the good part. You know what I mean? Dude, I okay, one more. One more. I'm say small one. One more. Caddey B: yeah. yeah. DJ Rubbabann: So because I came from the I came from where I came from, I'm just assuming only hip hop heads is listening to my shows, right? I'm not even knowing that that wasn't even my audience. My audience was white kids everywhere. White kids everywhere. Middle-aged hippies, every you know what I'm saying? So I'm and I'm in college at the time. I'm an undergrad. So one of the Caddey B: Mm. We got you also gotta also just just not to cut you off, but at that time when you was on the air, me and you both knew just about every single black person that was in town. DJ Rubbabann: Right, right. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Caddey B: You know what I mean? You n you knew all of all of the black people here and in Orville. So in Chico and in Orville. And there's two colleges in Chico. Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. So go go go go go go go ahead. DJ Rubbabann: Or you knew somebody or yeah. Yeah. Or you knew people that knew knew the other people. So I g I'ma say this. I'ma say this and we're gonna get off that. So so I'm I'm by this time, I'm popping. I'm on magazines, I'm going to New York, I'm I'm with Belbito, I'm with I'm you see me in the pictures with L L. Like I'm all over. So DNA goes, I need you to do this. I'll be like, All right, I'm gonna do it. 'Cause it's DNA. And somebody goes, you need a manager. I was like, I don't know if I need a manager. So, so look. So, and I'm still in school, right? I'm still I'm in st I'm still an undergrad, right? I'm still in college. So I get this professor who didn't really care for me. I had probably maybe when I was a sophomore, I need to talk to you. You got a voice in the community. People like you, people really respect you. We need to take you to lunch. So a couple of them took me to lunch, and they was like, I don't want you to do your show like that. I need your show to be like this. I need your show to be like this. Now, mind you, I got no support. Like, I'm I I ain't self-made, but I created that. That was me. That was one of the things Eric Eric said, you do you. And that Eric, if anybody, Eric from KZFR, the founder, was my guy. That was my guy. So Caddey B: Yeah. DJ Rubbabann: They they sat down, dude, and and they telling me all this stuff, and I'm like, what? So because I respected them so much, I was hurt. I got up and I left. I was like, okay. Cause mind you, it was certain words you can't say on the radio, but nigga was not one of them. Nigga was not one of them. So, man, I got on the radio that following Thursday, and I told what he what they said to me. Freedom of Death, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. I played every kind of every kind of every kinda everything. Man, some of them people didn't speak to me for years. So check this out. So when so when I got married to my wife, she had one of them in her class, one one of these professors. This was years and years later, right? And so even when we met, they was like, Damn, you d you you go with DJ Row, man? It was like And she was like, Man, they don't even know you really. Caddey B: Up sure. Mm. DJ Rubbabann: So she tells the the this professor, right? I thought we was cool this years, years and years later. She goes, yeah, I got married. I got married. You might know him. She goes, who is it? And she told him my name. How is he? Ha ha. I'm telling you, dude, you can't, dude, you can't. That's what I'm saying, dude. You can't. And so I seen her at somebody's funeral, that lady, that person, and we talked, and she told me she was proud of me, and blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. But part of that journey, dude, with with these platforms, you gotta live your truth, but you gotta know when to pull back. Going back to his show, talk his movie. Like me and you both, we've had interviews with people. Caddey B: Mm. yeah. DJ Rubbabann: That we just cut a lot of it off because the sensational part of it it would connect to the streets. One hundred percent. You know? Caddey B: Yeah. yeah, there's there's tons of stuff that that we cut out that we don't wanna offend nobody or just y you know, these pe Yeah, you know what I mean? And why DJ Rubbabann: Clickbait, clickbait. I know me and Ted, I know me and Ted, I know me and Ted gonna have some stuff we gotta cut out. Cause Ted knows some ghetto secrets. Caddey B: We gon like I said, we gon we're gonna start a subscription for that. There's gonna be some stuff. DJ Rubbabann: me for my pain. Can you pay me for my pain? Pay me. And it really wasn't pain. You know, just being young dude. Just being dude, just being young, dude. Caddey B: Okay. But there's people that are gonna learn from that. And like, you know, the game is we've been g we give away a lot of game. You know, there's some things that y'all gonna have to like, you know you're gonna get lessons. You're gonna get lessons and you're gonna have to pay for it, you know. I i I mean DJ Rubbabann: Right, right. Yeah, you gotta Yeah, yeah. Definitely, definitely. And just like that movie that we started off with with Terrence Tarantino and Du and Rizza. We need those kind of movies, but we also need movies where it's just positive. You just wanna perk. Caddey B: Yeah, yeah. DJ Rubbabann: You just wanna you just want the baddest chick and and you want her to be equal level to who you are in terms of what y'all doing and y'all work well together. You know what I'm saying? And y'all split a cheese sandwich and you go outside and and y'all both got new cars, the same color. I can do that. But at the same time, you wanna see them different stories, you know what I'm saying? Caddey B: Mm. Yeah, 'cause we've all lived both of At least you're supposed to, you know what I mean? Like you go through hard times, you go through good times. You know, and y you know, I mean you've been married for a long time, you know, not every day you love your wife every day. Like I mean you love her, but not every day you like her. Same for me. Y you know what I mean. But it's not it DJ Rubbabann: Yeah. Exactly. Yeah. Them them young them young days. Right, right, right. I don't know if that's the word to use. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Somebody might take that clip and go, Caddy don't look don't like his girl. He wouldn't eat a cheese toast with her. Yeah. Caddey B: And there's days that she and there's days that she don't like me. You know what I mean? And a and that's just that how it is. You know, there's days where I chew too loud. You know what I mean? Like that's just what it is. Like it it we've been together for sixteen years. Like, ain't nothing gonna change. DJ Rubbabann: exactly. Exactly. Right, right. Right. So what if you get a real a real obsessed fan that's just like Caddy I gotta meet Caddy, blah blah blah, I'm doing such and such, I I need to meet you, can I meet you? How you gonna handle that, Caddy? Caddey B: You know thank. I I'm d I'm too e I'm too easy of a person to, you know, DJ Rubbabann: You go you go you go. Alright, y'all hear that ladies? Y'all hear that ladies? Y'all hear that? Caddey B: Like I'm I'm simple. I'm good. I meet anybody. I talk to anybody. You know what I mean? Like I DJ Rubbabann: Alright, alright. You hear that ladies and gentlemen? Yeah. Yeah. Cause I ain't even told you I ain't even told you, I didn't this is way before transitioning and all that was popular and him, her. I didn't have all that kind of stuff on my show. You know me. I didn't have all that kind of stuff on my show. And I didn't have people, I didn't I didn't have people come on to me and I was like, for real? For real? And get disrespected. Caddey B: They Mm-hmm. Me too. And and and then you gotta analyze it and you're like, but why would you wanna do that? 'Cause I can see you. DJ Rubbabann: All that I do all that. I all that you already know me. You already know me. Yeah. So so shout out to everybody, dude. Shout out positive, dude. Just positive. Just positive. And shout out Tess Red. And I think Ted Ted has this because I have this. Every time I do a sh a podcast, a show, perform, do whatever I do, speak to colleges, speak to junior high, whatever I do. Caddey B: yeah, yeah. No, it's gotta stay positive, you know what I mean? DJ Rubbabann: I get that little nervousness of that professional nervousness, right? But when it comes to DJing and doing my thing, once I get I'm a beast with it. I'm a b and Ted is just I that's Ted. Ted still got that hunger for it. Yeah. Caddey B: Mm-hmm. yeah, yeah. He said he said he wants to mix on the show. He said he wants to set up and he wants to do he wants to do some cuss while we while we talking, maybe doing some storytelling or whatever. but he said he said b a bunch of people a bunch of people have been reaching out trying to get him on a podcast. He said he won't do it until he comes on the building three forty one first. DJ Rubbabann: Okay, okay. Yeah. I wanna know I wanna know I wanna know, I want to know his groupie level. I want to know crazy groupie stories. And sometimes groupie stories is not what you think, dude. Like I didn't have groupie stories where I had these two, this is in college, dude. I remember I'm working at KCHC. Wait, K S K the college radio station at Chico State. KS KCH whatever, not I worked at KCHO, which was the jazz station, but with Mrs. Philip Pia. But I worked at the college one too. Caddey B: yeah. DJ Rubbabann: And that wasn't run that was run a little different. But I remember two girls trapped me in the little record the little record thing and was talking to me. They wanted to go one of them wanted to go out with me. Da da da da da. And you know, I was wild back then and I'm like, You just not my type, right? No disrespect. You just not my type. And so, dude, they just kept my shift was over. I'm getting ready to leave, dude. They just bugging me. They just bugging me. And I said the only way I'll do it, if all if all three of us go out. All three of us going out, and this is what I and this is what I want. They was like, okay. And so I let them pick me up. It was wild. It was wild. It was wild. DJ Rubber Band, K Z F R, Freedom of Death. It was wild. It was wild, wow, wow. But it was PG, but it was wild. And I'll just say this. They both read to me like they little It was wow. I'm from South Central. At the time from I'm like, I ain't really went nowhere, did nothing, and this is all wow. Caddey B: And they telling you their horoscopes and and how Mercury's changing and how they're feeling and DJ Rubbabann: All that, all that, all that, all that. So you've been around that. I ain't been around that. We was doing that in LA. San Diego they was doing that. Caddey B: yeah. I didn't I I d nah they wasn't doing that in Dago either. Like I didn't know about that until I came up here. I didn't even know what snow was until I moved up here. First time I saw snow was up here. I was like, what is this? DJ Rubbabann: Meh Man, it was wow, wow. And then one of those girl one of those girls from that night found me on Facebook and she a professor at UC Berkeley. Or used to. Yeah, yeah. You know what I mean? Like it's just, you know, the radio, this, this podcast, anything in the music business. One of my sons is in the music business, and I always give him like the little starter kit like Caddey B: Pour eux. DJ Rubbabann: Watch out for this, watch out for this. And he come back and it's something new. And now see now you could be a little antisocial in the music business because people don't go out as much and everything. Like before you promoted an album, you had to kiss babies. You had to be but now everything is social media, blah blah blah blah blah. Caddey B: And you was in the same studios all the time, but now you can just send out a track and get vocals back and do this and you ain't gotta ever see nobody other than like this. DJ Rubbabann: Dude, when I when I started w when I started my my radio show on KZFR, Freedom of Deaf, I had to call every label, send them mixtapes, send them my whole thing, my playlist for a long time. And certain ones were more political. So certain one so with so with Def Jam, I remember with Def Jam, I kept sending them stuff and they was like, We not sending you records yet. You know, yo, dah da da. Caddey B: If you want to. Mm. Mm-hmm. DJ Rubbabann: So when I finally I got I w when I wound up talking to somebody, the person that ran it, that ran that production, was named was Babito. Babito had a big mix show with Stretch Armstrong in New York. Babito is big time. Babito is the shit. Babito, he's still around. Shout out Babito. He was like, I need mixes, I need this. And so we wound up being cool. Start connected, seeing him at different functions all over. But that's just what they did back then. Like you had to And I mean in Death Jam was kind of the crime of the lacrime. A lot of them, you you know, they they track me down, you know. But at the same time, when they had function so much, I'm on the phone, I'm like, okay, y'all gonna be inside, y'all gonna be in the bay? Where y'all gonna be in the bay? Y'all gonna be in LA? Can I go? Can I get a ticket? I ain't got no money. Can I can I go? Yeah, yeah, yeah. We're gonna be in yeah, we're gonna be in so and so. Well, we got you. Caddey B: Yeah. Yeah. DJ Rubbabann: We got you know I mean, so it's so and I'm quite sure they still do all that to wine and down the DJs, but everybody was there. Everybody kicked it. Now when I listen to my kids talk about it, it's a little different. It's a lot of zooms, it's a lot of you know Yeah, it's it's different. Caddey B: Yeah, yeah, I'm sure. Yeah, I mean it i i i it was already different, but I'm sure COVID, you know, changed it even more and like kinda solidified stuff. DJ Rubbabann: Right. Caddey B: You know, it just made it it made it more comfortable to be like, well we had COVID so now we set up all these things and now we can just we can just stick with it. You know. DJ Rubbabann: But not that you wouldn't meet at you know, at the radio station you meet two girls and one of wasn't so attractive and that was the one that was hitting on you was like, Yeah, I mean you just I mean you cool but you know and then she was like I was like and then Caddey B: That's how it always is. It's always that one. Why is why is it the ones why is it the ones that are the unattractive ones have the most like outstanding personalities? They're just like they're ready to go for it. You know what I mean? DJ Rubbabann: Yeah. And my big mouth, my big mouth, I s and I didn't even really be me I didn't really mean that. I was like, the only way I'm doing it is that y'all both go. She was like, her she looked at her friends, they was like, okay. And I was like, I'ma ride my bike home and you gotta pick me. I gave her my address. I'ma ride my bike home and then you pick me up and I'm gonna meet you. I'm I'm living what I'm living on Nord at at Trans Pacific. They used to be called Trans Pacific. They don't call that now. You know where that's at, right? I'm like, pick me up front in front of Trans Pacific. They drove in. Got in a car. Yeah, do why I mean, but you do that when you young. You do wild stuff when you're young. Caddey B: Yeah, yeah, yeah. yeah, yeah. When you're young we don't care. We're we're resilient, we bounce back. DJ Rubbabann: And the ugly one, I hooked up with one of my partners that you know. Yeah. Yeah. Keep it a bean. Keep it in a bean. Yeah. Keep it in a bean. Caddey B: I have a feeling I know who it was. DJ Rubbabann: You already know, you already know. Shout out Building three forty one. Freedom of death back in the days, you know. I go to church and everything now, y'all. I ain't man, please. You know. Caddey B: One of these times we're gonna ha we're gonna have we're gonna have to do a a we're gonna have to have you just mix like you would for Freedom of Death. Just do a show. DJ Rubbabann: Wow, wow. That would be different. That would be that would be different. I get an intern. Do I get an intern? Do I have an in the I I need a female. I need a female. Preferably. No, preferably I I I want a a female that's different looking too. You know. You gotta find me. Look, you know who you gotta get, you know you how you gotta get for me? Your partner's sister. Caddey B: Do a old school sh Uh-huh. I I'll come in, turn for you. DJ Rubbabann: Don't say her name. Caddey B: Mm. DJ Rubbabann: Hey, building 341. Building 341. Like, subscribe. Like, subscribe. I'm not telling no more Jews. Yeah. Yeah. Caddey B: Mm-hmm. Get at us. Get at us. But yeah, check out Ted Shred's show. Check out there's a lot of stuff on Ninety point on on 90 point one that that's good, you know? Got Rafiki on there, you got some funk on there. Yeah. DJ Rubbabann: Right. Rafiki. Remember the Jump Out Boys. The Jump Out Boys used to be on there too. You know, back in the days. You know. Man. Man. You know who else I want to give a shout-out to? We did an interview with B Mitch. He got a new album that's out now. If you watch, if you look at our stuff, B Mitch, we got a real good interview with him. His album dropped a couple days ago. Go check it out. B Mitch. Caddey B: Yeah. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah. DJ Rubbabann: It's an EP. I don't even know if they call him EP no more, but but check out my boy B Midge. Like, subscribe. When you hit him up in his comments, put building 341. When you go to his and listen to his stuff, or when you watch him on our channel, put building 341. He giving it up, y'all. He giving it up. And shout out to and look, shout out to my boy Caddy B. Cause he wants me to do a show. Caddey B: Play or weather. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, tag us, tag us. DJ Rubbabann: And he gonna bring somebody for me there and we gonna set this whole thing up. It's gonna be wild, y'all. It's gonna be cool. Building 341. I'm gonna be quiet that whole show. I'm gonna be quiet that if it's possible, I'm gonna be quiet that whole show. Caddey B: yeah, we got some things. I might be able to bring the other part. I might be able to bring the one ginger, not the other one, but you know, the same DNA, right? DJ Rubbabann: There you go. Alright. Hey there see there. No, no. So what what new music you listening to right now? Other than that being Mitch? What you what you listening to right now? Caddey B: I really haven't been listening to a whole lot. I've just been letting it just kinda shuffle with whatever on Apple. I just hit like my songs and just hit shuffle and just let it play anything. And it and it plays everything. DJ Rubbabann: What you think about what you think about that young Miami single blowing up and and at the B you done watch the BT Awards. They they gave her her props. And it's kinda club music. It's club music, you know. Caddey B: I watched some of it, you know what I mean? Yeah, no, it is. And I I you know I mean, I was checking out some of the Essence Essence Awards too. You know, they did that, for Leah and then they did, you know, Brandy you'll grow Brandy and Monaco's both there and DJ Rubbabann: Yeah. Shout out to shout out to both of them. You know. Caddey B: And T I was there with the symphony. And then he just got the cover of Time magazine. DJ Rubbabann: Mm-hmm. T.I. man. I gotta give T you I give T.I. his dude. I gotta give yeah, I gotta give T.I. his dude. I gotta give. Do you even Caddey B: He put it in. He put it in. Yeah, yeah. But I I I was listening to that to that Flip Wilson too from Shade Coben and the Bad Seed. DJ Rubbabann: How was that? Was that kind of dark? Caddey B: Some u some some underground some some underground stuff, you know what I mean? It No, it's good. It's good. I I was just DJ Rubbabann: Is it underground dark? What is it? Is it I love is it love my wife, love the sun and the sh w wha what what kind of good? Caddey B: It's not it's not it's not R and B. It's not R and B. DJ Rubbabann: It's not a hook and a break and somebody singing, huh? Caddey B: Nah, nah. It's just some bars. You know what I mean? They got some bars in there. You know. What else I got? I got DJ Rubbabann: Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Now did you now are you listening to any booty clapping like young, you know, young Miami? Would you like if w if that came up on your on your Apple, would you pass it? Be like, I wanna hear that. It's too redundant. It's too redundant of Lil' Kim, Foxy Brown. Would you let it play? Caddey B: I'd probably let it play. I don't skip a lot. mainly I when I skip stuff is cause I've heard it too many times. Cause it like it got played out. You know what I mean? But even then, like I listened to like the first half of it. I'll be like, all right, cool. DJ Rubbabann: Okay, okay. Mm-hmm. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Right. Okay, okay. Caddey B: You know, but I don't know, I I I I'll just go dig into stuff. Like I went in, I was just going through montage and stuff. Then I went in and I was playing Cypress Hill stuff and DJ Rubbabann: Okay. Man, you got me thinking about Terrence Red again. And and one of the questions I want to ask Ted is because I ask people this in interviews a lot. If you could relive that moment over, what would you do different? And I tell young people all the time in the music business, be in the moment. Like Chris Galaxy, I tell him, he in the moment, like he would Three major artists and he and he texts me and he says, I'm go I dad, I'm supposed to go home tomorrow. I'm like, Don't go. You wait, you see, you see. And that wind up being his best day. And so when you do it first, and you know people in it, we couldn't ask each other questions. You just you just felt like you was too cool to ask for me to ask E40 that, or for me to ask so-and-so. You just didn't ask them. And so Caddey B: Yeah, he should. Mm-hmm. Yeah. DJ Rubbabann: I tell young people all the time, like, sometimes you might not make ten million, but you got some hell of a stories and it drew you to be more creative and so that's why when I went into print media and I start writing. I start writing reviews and then can you write this? can you A and R this? can you go do this with this? Okay. Well, I want you to do this because you don't smoke weed and do drugs, but you'll F somebody up. So Caddey B: Yeah, yeah, yeah. DJ Rubbabann: Can you go do this? This is the budget. Okay. How much of this budget do I get? It's your budget. I was like, okay. Like you learn along the way. And I tell artists all the time, like, don't just be in no box that the only thing you can do is rap, or the only thing you can do is beats, or be on the radio, or do a podcast. If somebody comes up to me and say, Look, I want you to do this and this, and I can do it, and the money's right, you know, or the experience is right. Caddey B: Yeah. DJ Rubbabann: Now I might not go to Dubai now 'cause of what's going on over there, but you know, I would've wanted to go to Dubai and do a show or do something. You know what I'm saying? Cause I ain't been to Dubai. But not right now. Shout out Dubai, you know. I'll see you in another year when this when all this stuff get, you know, get over. You know. Caddey B: Also yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah. We Yeah, we got a few years before we can do a lot of things, but DJ Rubbabann: Yeah, yeah. Not a maybe maybe one, not a few. I gotta look, look, I'm not gonna talk about it now, but I got a Dubai story with a friend of mine that went and 'cause they got a lot of laws around being married and not married and man man. Shout out Dubai, man. Woo Woo Tennessee Respect boy, respect. Look, we can do a whole KZF for hour. Caddey B: Yeah. Thanks. DJ Rubbabann: But you know what? We're gonna stay positive. We're gonna stay positive. Look, man, if they had cameras back then, and then look, and look, and then I already told you, so then them two girls that read to me and other stuff, so then later on, like I told you, and and and I don't even think people do this enough, youngsters do this enough. Caddey B: Huh. Y'all have been cooked. DJ Rubbabann: It was that friend that was like, man, why I can't meet nobody, man, nobody like me, man. But I was like, Look, man, I got somebody for you, man. I got somebody for you. I said, you know what? This what I want you to do. I'm gonna make it happen for you. Turned him on to one of them. And you know the one I turned him on to was the ugly one. Man, they was together for about a year, man. Love is spring. Caddey B: Th there's something there's somet remember there's something good in everybody. DJ Rubbabann: You said that so so soft and professional. No dude, but the point of all of that is as you grow older you love you learn that love and affection and likeness is not just one thing. It's not just you know what I'm saying? Caddey B: yeah. No. It's not what you think it's it's not what you think it is in your twenties to what it is in your forties or in your thirties. I mean, it's it's all it chang it constantly changes. DJ Rubbabann: Yeah. You still like who you like, but you learn different versions of what beauty is. Caddey B: I think he I think also it broadens. DJ Rubbabann: It does. yeah. yeah. Caddey B: You know what I mean? Like y y you can go from having a type A and then all of a sudden you got type A, B, C, D. DJ Rubbabann: No, 100%. Right. I don't think I really had a type. I don't really think I me personally, I don't really think I had a type. I mean, you know you like what you like, but I mean I just got blessed with my girl and and our journey and who she is and who I am, but you couldn't just say this or this or this. You like what you like, but you know what I'm saying? You know. But I couldn't have seen you with a midget, you know what I'm saying? But maybe. Caddey B: Like you're just like, Yeah. No. Yeah. Mm mm. yeah. Yeah. DJ Rubbabann: Hey, that's you see midges with tall people. You do, you do, or you see real you see real heavy chicks with little dudes. Caddey B: You do, you do. yeah. Yeah, yeah. DJ Rubbabann: Man. You know what I wanna talk about too one day, dude? I wanna talk about drug dealer people that we know but on the positive though in some of their stories. Cause I know I got na I never sold drugs, but I got so many friends that did. Wow funny stories, dude. Just the funny part though. The wild funny. Funny part. You know what I'm saying? Like like like funny like like funny like Caddey B: yeah. DJ Rubbabann: I remember somebody asked me, rubber, do you know anybody that can cut my grass and fix this little part in my backyard? I was like, dude, I know this little dude down the street, and da da da. And so he wanted to pay him in weed. He didn't even smoke weed. And he ran home and told his mama. You know? And they came and knocked on the door. You know what I mean? Like little stuff like that. Like, you know what I'm saying? Like. Caddey B: Thinking he could just give a jar of weed out. Yeah. DJ Rubbabann: But you know, we know people that you know that do those kind of things. They like to trade. They like bartering, you know. And it was the little you know, quiet little Hey man, you s you smoke herb? Hey man, I got he ran home and told his mama. Caddey B: yeah. So so back in the day when I used to drive cab, at the same time I was driving cab, I was also selling weed. 'Cause I I've always done that. And so I used to deliver I used to drive all of the bartenders to all the bars 'cause I knew all 'cause I was always going out. So LaSalle's was the poppin' bar at the time. It was DJ Rubbabann: Right. For sure. Caddey B: you know, it was the jam. On Saturday nights you had eighties up front and you had hip hop in the back and then they had different other things going on and it was just it was a staple for Chigo for a long time. And one of the bartenders I gave her a ride, dropped her off and she was like she was like, can I get can I get some herb? I was like, Yeah I said, You know I'm gonna come in later on too, right? She was like, Okay, yeah, you just just come in and bring me bring me a bigger sack later on and I got your drinks all night. And so I would just pay with herb all the time and I'd just be drinking all night. And I was driving cab at the same time. DJ Rubbabann: Gi okay, so that was good, but gimme something with some sh with some well, you know they used to have a lot of belly dancing chicks and Chico and just unusual kind of people, you know. Would you ever get in a cab and people will get in there and they would be hella funky? Caddey B: you would get People would come in at the end of the night and they'd be just trashed. And they'd been walking around just barefooted, walking through the bars, and they just get in, somebody stepped in dog crap, or they threw up all down themselves. And then other times you get people that would just be ultra happy. I mean I had people get in the back and they just hold out a mirror and they just start chopping up cocaine right there while I'm driving. I'm like, man, I'm like, you gotta put that away. DJ Rubbabann: What? What? Caddey B: I'm like, who carries around a mirror? DJ Rubbabann: So they really did the mirror like in the movie. Caddey B: yeah. yeah, or people use their phones. DJ Rubbabann: Right, look at you, look at you. Dude, I went on a date. Somebody hooked me up with a date back in the day. And I went on a date with a chick and she was bad. And it was me, her and her friend. We was going out to a club. We were in the bay. And I had never seen this like this. And we laughing. It's a first date, so we tryna be, you know, I'm trying to be cool. I'm trying to be and It was sh it was her house. And so she said, Okay, is if her friend go. I'm like, man, why you want your friend to go? So if it don't work out, you know what I mean? To make it a little easier. And me and her was vibing or whatever. And so we went to sit down and homie, she just took out the mirror and st and did a line and handed it to the girl that the girl that was coming with us. Caddey B: Yeah, yeah, yeah. DJ Rubbabann: We went out, we went out, dude. We par like we went out, whatever, whatever. And nigga, I left both them bitches there. I'm good. I'm good. I left on both there. And my boy that hooked it up. I was like, you was wrong for that. He was like, man, you can't judge her. I was like, no, you could have told me she, you know. And I ain't judging. Just you should have let me know. Caddey B: Mm-hmm. Yeah, yeah. Sometimes party favorit not it not all party favors are are party favors for everybody. DJ Rubbabann: I left him. I left dude, at the club. yeah. yeah. yeah. yeah. And she she came over, cried, blah blah blah, blah blah blah. I was cool with her, but I'm like I'm good. I'm good. I'm good. Cause you know I just say no, y'all. I just say no. I just say no. I just say at least let me know. Just let me know. Cause you know what I used to date girls I dated this girl that smoked cigarettes, right? And not judging nobody that smoked cigarettes. Caddey B: yeah, yeah. DJ Rubbabann: And I didn't know she smoked cigarettes because her breath didn't smell like that. And what happens is sometimes, you can tell me if you're wrong, because you you know the cigarette world. After we got through one day, she she pulled a strong dragon was just sitting there and smoking that smoking it like she was, you know, drinking yeah, yeah, drinking her water and just dragging on the cigarette. I looked over. Caddey B: There. DJ Rubbabann: I was in by the end, B. I couldn't I kept her I kept her for a minute, B. But when it got hard, that was my reasoning. Caddey B: yeah, I'm sure. DJ Rubbabann: Now would you judge a girl for smoking? Caddey B: I used to smoke so you know, when when when when me and my when me and my lady f first met, she was still smoking too here and there. And I was and I was and I was smoking so nah. DJ Rubbabann: So you don't you wouldn't judge smoking? It's no habit back when you were single would you say, I won't accept that one. Caddey B: I mean, you know, you can't be smoking crack and and then, you know, I true. DJ Rubbabann: But I know functioning crack addicts, though. I know functioning crack addicts, but but I know in terms of dating them, you know what mean? Yeah. Caddey B: True. My biggest thing when I was single before before I met my wife was and it's wrong to say and there were some women that I I did wrong because of it was was and 'cause I had I I had four kids so I didn't want anybody who had kids. DJ Rubbabann: Ho ho ho Man, you we're trying to get our prescriptions up. We trying to get our likes subscribes up. I'm trying to get them up. Caddey B: Huh y'all can hate me and I'm sorry. I'm sorry for I'm sorry f I'm s sorry to those women that you know that I did dirty because of that, but you know. DJ Rubbabann: So you wouldn't take them with kids. But they can do a line of coke on your kitchen table. You just couldn't have one that had a few kids. What about one kid? Caddey B: I just didn't want the responsibility of somebody else's I have four. I already had a small soccer team. DJ Rubbabann: That ain't that ain't a whole lot though. Caddey B: Yeah, it is. DJ Rubbabann: No, that's your boundary. I respect that. That's your boundary. That's your boundary. So you would take somebody that will sit Caddey B: Yeah. yeah, you could do coke on the table, sure, go ahead. DJ Rubbabann: What if she was clean in recovery and had some mental health issues but no kids? Maybe. Caddey B: Maybe. DJ Rubbabann: Okay. Caddey B: You know, but I mean yeah, no. DJ Rubbabann: But no kids. And you got four beautiful kids. Good kids. All your kids are good kids. Yeah. Yeah. All right. All right. So y'all heard it on building 341. You could do coke. You can have a little hey. Let me stop. Let me stop. Let me stop. But I left them. I and you know this is a thing about a small town, or this is a thing about a college town. Caddey B: Yeah. Somewhat. Yeah. You know. Yeah. DJ Rubbabann: When you don't want them, somebody else wants And sometimes, especially when you're young, when you get and it don't work, sometimes it works better for other people. You know what I mean? Like, and and and I feel like for me and all my friends, I've always been a giver. Like I didn't hook so many people up. Cause people didn't show me love. And like I said, when the when the one girl when the two girls at the radio station, the college radio station, I was like, damn, you would be perfect for so and so. Caddey B: yeah. Definitely. Yeah. DJ Rubbabann: Boy, he loved her. He was with her for a while. He was with her for a while, man. Man, he was with her for a while, man. Yeah, yeah, yeah. She was getting a master's degree. You know, she had her, she had her whole life planned out. You know. He wanted to be a bodybuilder. He wanted to be a bodybuilder. Yeah. Shout my boy out. You know who I'm talking about. We giving we giving him we give we giving him we giving him fuel. DJ Rubbabann: DJ Tess Red. Right. I want to know some DJ story. Because when DJs just sit around and talk, we talk, DJ talk and whatever. And then you know, because a DJ was really in the forefront of hip-hop before the rapper, DJ Jazzy Jeff. You know what I'm saying? Go on, go on, you can go on. Grandmaster Flash and Nefarious Five. Those early records, I thought Grandmaster Flash was a singer, a rapper. He was the DJ. If you in the music business and you up and coming and you doing it, don't hold back. I'm not saying do stupid stuff, but be open to do more than what you're doing. Cause I wanna know about when he went overseas, cause when I went overseas, it wasn't fun for me like that. I wanna know the fun cause you know you in a different country, it's rules, you know what I mean? It's the beer. So yeah, so they sponsored everything. Yeah, they sponsored. And this was before y and so it was a whole nother and I'm not really a beer drinker and the beer was warm. we didn't speak the language. yeah, yeah, yeah. I had four kids and I was starting over and I was just like, I I'm I'm good, I can't do that. DJ Rubbabann: Right, right. Damn. Damn, we gonna have just this. Somebody gonna use just that part of the clip one day. Like they gonna say something and they're gonna go, they gonna use that in your clip. They gonna just go boom. Yeah. Caddey B: That's it. Well.
