- 0:01When a seeker begins to explore the inner realms and undertakes
- 0:06what Triorobindo describes in his epic poem Savitri, a legend
- 0:10and a symbol, as an adventure of consciousness and joy, he is
- 0:16confronted with numerous unfamiliar circumstances,
- 0:19powers, forces, and pressures that are not all benign and not
- 0:25all supportive of his spiritual aspiration and development.
- 0:30As he begins to develop the power of intuition, the seeker
- 0:34must exercise real caution to ensure that he is not simply
- 0:38opening the door to impulses, ideas, and forces that take the
- 0:44shape of intuition to his inexperienced view.
- 0:48The rush of energy, the feeling that this is something new and
- 0:52powerful, can overpower the sense of balance, and if the
- 0:57mind has been brought to a state of quiescence, its natural
- 1:01sceptical tendency may also be reduced or eliminated, thus
- 1:05accentuating the danger of self deception.
- 1:10As with other aspects of spiritual development, the
- 1:13assistance of an experienced and trustworthy guide is certainly
- 1:17helpful. Additionally, a certain sense of
- 1:20inner review to ensure that it feels right and does not simply
- 1:25violate or abrogate general guidelines place to protect the
- 1:29seeker from dangers of the vital forces is clearly necessary.
- 1:35There was a case of an individual who felt an intuition
- 1:38that he could walk into the middle of a road and not be
- 1:41harmed. Chaos ensued as drivers had to
- 1:45slam on brakes to avoid hitting him.
- 1:48He was pulled back by friends who recognized the imbalance in
- 1:52his perceptions. A somewhat similar story out of
- 1:56India was of a young seeker who was told by his guru that he was
- 2:00Brahman. He walked out into the road and
- 2:03an elephant with a guide was coming directly in his path.
- 2:07The driver of the elephant shouted for him to get out of
- 2:10the way, which he failed to do because after all, he was
- 2:14Brahman. He got driven out of the way by
- 2:17the elephant. When he went back to his Guru,
- 2:21the Guru asked him why he did not get out of the way when the
- 2:24elephant Brahman was coming and the elephant driver Brahman
- 2:29shouted for him to get out of the way.
- 2:32His intuition was obviously a form of self deception.
- 2:38The mother notes quote naturally first.
- 2:42These two faculties must be developed.
- 2:44Then as soon as there is any result, one must observe the
- 2:48result, as I said, and see the connection with what is
- 2:52happening, the consequences. See, observe very attentively
- 2:57what has come in, what may have caused a distortion, what one
- 3:02has added by way of more or less conscious reasoning, or the
- 3:06intervention of a lower will, also more or less conscious.
- 3:11And it is by a very deep study, indeed almost of every moment,
- 3:16in any case daily and very frequent, that one succeeds in
- 3:21developing 1's intuition. It takes a long time, it takes a
- 3:26long time and there are ambushes.
- 3:29One can deceive oneself. Take 4 intuitions, subconscious
- 3:34wills which try to manifest indications given by impulses
- 3:39one has refused to receive openly.
- 3:42Indeed all sorts of difficulties.
- 3:45One must be prepared for that, but if one persists, 1 is sure
- 3:51to succeed. End Quote.
