- 5:33you know, Middle Tennessee at least and I'm sure other places.
- 5:36I was looking out east towards the Blue Ridge Mountains and

- 6:07podcast for the next week or the next, you know, go around, but
- 6:14we're here Live Today. Hello there, Chrissy, Hello from
- 6:17the UK. Awesome.
- 6:18Very cool. That's great.
- 6:20I'm glad we got some folks internationally being
- 6:24represented here. So these live streams are, in
- 6:27case you're new here or you're not commenting, you know, these
- 6:31are monthly sorts of things. They usually happen on Mondays,
- 6:34or at least they have in the past.
- 6:35But I've noticed that Monday nights just tend to be kind of
- 6:39a, a wash for most of the the audience.
- 6:44You know, we don't really get a lot of engagement this late on a
- 6:48Monday night, but it is a Friday night.
- 6:50And a lot of people, I think have, you know, at least here
- 6:54domestically in the US, they have most Friday nights are off.
- 6:57You know, they don't have to go to work the next day.
- 6:58Or if they do, it's kind of a late start.
- 7:01But for you, Chrissy, in the UK, it's you're up.
- 7:04Early or you're or. You're still up.
- 7:09I'm not sure what the comment is there, Chrissy, but I'm thinking
- 7:11that if if you did send us, you know, stars in your support of
- 7:13this show. I'm not really sure because the
- 7:15comments not showing up on screen, but if you did donate or
- 7:18send anything that way, thank you so much.
- 7:21I appreciate you being here and appreciate everybody else being
- 7:23here. Ladies and gentlemen, this is a
- 7:25pretty, just want to say very exciting time for the Midgard
- 7:30Musings social media sites, you know, especially Facebook
- 7:35because this time last week I think we've gained approximately
- 7:42and I can't say for sure. I have to go back and look at
- 7:44the stats, but I want to say that we've gained somewheres
- 7:47upwards of of 10,000 new followers this week over here on
- 7:52Facebook. So if you're new here on
- 7:53Facebook and you're watching, these are monthly things.
- 7:58Don't want to, you know, neglect everybody that's watching on
- 8:00YouTube too. But you guys are awesome.
- 8:01Thank you all for being here. Oh, wait, we got there with
- 8:05Christy. 2:10 AM. Yeah, here in England.
- 8:12So it's dark. Is it rainy?
- 8:14Is it is it cool? Is it warm?
- 8:16I know over here this time of year, at least in this part of
- 8:19the country where I live, it gets dark.
- 8:22It doesn't get really cool at night.
- 8:24It, it it just stays muggy and hot.
- 8:27And it it's it's it's it's very yucky.
- 8:31I don't like it. Michael's days off are midweek
- 8:36on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Yeah.
- 8:37You know, we're all we're all doing our own thing.
- 8:40But I do appreciate all of you coming here and listen to what
- 8:43we ramble on here about tonight. We got here on Facebook as well.
- 8:49Renita Moore, hello there from Texas.
- 8:52Very cool. I know some people, good people
- 8:54out in East Texas in the Tyler area, also up in the Arc Latex
- 9:00region of the country there, you know, so that sort of tri-state
- 9:03area, really good heathens out there.
- 9:07But we are going to be just rambling on for the next however
- 9:10long. Again, it's a Friday night.
- 9:11I got nothing else to do and I'm here to take your questions or,
- 9:15you know, listen to your thoughts, see what you got on
- 9:17your mind. But before we get into it,
- 9:20because this is a podcast production, you know, just for
- 9:22everybody that catches this much later on, this podcast is
- 9:28available in video format. Normally, you know, when we're
- 9:30not doing live streams, it is available on Patreon.
- 9:33So if you go to patreon.com, as you can see scrolling along the
- 9:38bottom there slash midgardmusingspatreon.com/midgard
- 9:41musings. When you join at the Carl tier,
- 9:46OK, you can, you can follow my public posts.
- 9:49There's sometimes that I'm that I'm releasing things that are
- 9:51public, which is just free, or you can just follow me over
- 9:54there for free. But if you want to help support
- 9:56the production of this show by joining at the Carl tier, it is
- 9:59a $1.00 pledge. So whatever the exchange rate
- 10:02is, wherever you are, I don't know what the pound to dollar
- 10:04ratio is, but it's probably, you know, a few extra cents, give or
- 10:07take. But you get video access to the
- 10:10show, plus you get a in screen mention of your name in the
- 10:14credits as a supporter at whatever tier that you join at.
- 10:18So just that $1.00 pledge get you access to all the video
- 10:21shows. And it's a monthly recurring
- 10:23fee. You don't have to if you don't
- 10:25want to. And I do offer other levels or
- 10:27tiers of support, but the $1.00 pledge, it's great.
- 10:31It's, you know, it, it helps. Even though it doesn't sound
- 10:33like a lot, it does help a lot with just covering certain
- 10:36production costs. So check it out.
- 10:39patreon.com/midgard Musings. Adam says neither do I.
- 10:45About the weather here. Yeah, it.
- 10:47Is he's he's. Adam's close to me, about an
- 10:50hour and a half away, a little bit closer to the Kentucky area,
- 10:54but it's, it's not, you know, it's, it's north of me, but it
- 10:57isn't like the north. It's we're still in the South
- 10:59here, man. But anyways, if you don't want
- 11:03to join me on Patreon and and pay the dollar to to watch the
- 11:06podcast, that's totally fine. You can still listen for free
- 11:08anywhere that you stream podcasts.
- 11:09So, you know, places like Spotify or Apple podcasts, or
- 11:15was it like iHeartRadio or any of the other like major platform
- 11:19streaming sites? Just listen.
- 11:20If you wanted to listen, take me with.
- 11:22You wherever yous go. Here, there and abroad and, and
- 11:27yeah, that that's great. Just your listenership, your
- 11:30viewership is great. But these things, these live
- 11:31streams, this is my once a month opportunity to engage with all
- 11:34of you and to listen to your thoughts and to hear your minds
- 11:38and, and share a bit about, you know, what you might be going
- 11:40through or what's going on. Any questions that you may have
- 11:42and I'll do my best to answer them.
- 11:45But one thing that I do want to mention short, just as a quick
- 11:48mention, in addition to all of the other things you know, so
- 11:50I'm I'm I'm on here YouTube and Facebook course.
- 11:52Follow me there. I'm also on Instagram.
- 11:55If you if you go to my bio section or my about section,
- 11:59there's a link tree and it's a one stop shop.
- 12:02It's it's kind of like my one stop destination for everything.
- 12:07So I have a merchandise store you can find a link to there you
- 12:09you can find all my social medias, the podcast, the
- 12:13website, I have a blog website, randomheathenramblings.com.
- 12:17And now for for this duration, I have another thing up which is
- 12:22not for the podcast. It's not for for me directly.
- 12:25It's actually for a member of my family.
- 12:27And I'm going to tell you all a little bit about that right now
- 12:29before we get into the meat and potatoes of this stream and of
- 12:32the show in general. So I want to talk a little bit
- 12:35about my mother-in-law and, and some of the things that she has
- 12:38going on. And I'm gonna be talking about a
- 12:39GoFundMe campaign that we have up for her.
- 12:42Some of you that are watching this know about this already and
- 12:45have donated to the, to the GoFundMe.
- 12:47So thank you very much for that. For those of you who do know,
- 12:51but just really quickly, my mother-in-law, she's 84 years
- 12:54old and she'll be turning 85 at the end of the year.
- 12:58And, and she's just going through that stage of life where
- 13:00it's tough to get around and it's quite dangerous for her to
- 13:03get around. Even with the assistance of a
- 13:05Walker. She's very uneasy on her feet.
- 13:09She's had a few very recent episodes where she's falling or,
- 13:13or has the propensity to fall. And the family collectively, my
- 13:17wife's side of the family is, is, is wanting to get some
- 13:20upgrades, some medical equipment upgrades in their house, which
- 13:23is a trailer just a few doors down from where I live.
- 13:26It's very nice, very cozy, but it has stairs that go up into
- 13:29it, you know what I mean? And using stairs with a Walker
- 13:32at her age is very precarious. It's, it's, it's a risk every
- 13:37single time she goes up or down them.
- 13:38So one of the big upgrades that we're looking to, to do is get a
- 13:42ramp built, a long ramp with a gradual incline, right?
- 13:46So it's not too she's not fighting gravity too badly to
- 13:49get up there. And we're also looking to get a
- 13:53a Hoyer lift. So when and as she does have
- 13:56falling episodes, she you know, her husband, my my father-in-law
- 13:59can in case none of us are around, you know, if we happen
- 14:02to be, you know, shopping or out of out of town or out of the
- 14:05immediate area to run down a few doors and help her up.
- 14:09The Hoyer lift is a medical piece of equipment that can
- 14:11assist with her getting up safely that, you know, my
- 14:15father-in-law can, can, can use. And then lastly, a, a sit to
- 14:19stand medical chair with like a remote control that can, can
- 14:21ease her up from a sitting position without her having to
- 14:24strain and push and, and, and, you know, again, fight gravity.
- 14:29So all of these things, as you can imagine, are quite a, you
- 14:32know, an expense. And the main thing is to get her
- 14:36set up with all of these things so that way she's safe and, and
- 14:39her quality of life is, is, you know.
- 14:42Easy as as possible. So we're working very hard to to
- 14:45get all these things in place. But to try and help recuperate
- 14:49the financial expenses of it all, we've set up a GoFundMe.
- 14:53And that GoFundMe, if you go to my Linktree link that I just
- 14:57talked about in my bio or in my about section or wherever you
- 15:00find it, it is the first thing that's at the top of that
- 15:03Linktree. Also, in addition to that, I
- 15:07will post it in the comments anywhere that you're watching
- 15:12this. So if you're, you know.
- 15:17Watching on YouTube or or on Facebook, that link is is is
- 15:23just posted now. So obviously any any donations
- 15:27amount are helpful. You're under no obligation to
- 15:30obviously do that. But if at the very least you can
- 15:32maybe share it, that would be great.
- 15:36So again, if you can either click on the link now or you can
- 15:38just go to my link tree link later and share it around.
- 15:42So any help with that is greatly appreciated.
- 15:47And I think that's everything that I wanted to talk about as
- 15:50far as housekeeping type things. So now that we're streaming
- 15:53live, I'll I'll, I'm just going to get into something that's
- 15:56kind of fresh on my mind and then I'll I'll happily take
- 16:00questions and answer them to the best of my ability if you have
- 16:04them. So just fire away in the
- 16:05comments. But one of the things, you know,
- 16:08that I, I recently had in my mind, I just got back tonight,
- 16:12earlier today rather well, yeah, tonight because it was after
- 16:15work and it was this evening. So you know earlier before the
- 16:17live stream. We'll put it that way.
- 16:21I went to have dinner with a friend of mine, Adam.
- 16:26I went to have dinner with Greg. So Adam knows who Greg is.
- 16:30He's a good friend of both of ours.
- 16:31He's actually the Chieftain of the Raven Moon Hearth kindred in
- 16:35here in Tennessee. And they have a couple of big
- 16:38events coming up here very soon, one of which is just less than I
- 16:43think about a week and a half away up in Hopkinsville, KY.
- 16:47It is their annual event called Suna Bloat.
- 16:50And it usually coincides with the, you know, summer solstice
- 16:55time frame. So usually at, at or around the
- 16:58summer solstice, one of those weekends near, near near abouts
- 17:01the the Hearth organizes and hosts a public event complete
- 17:08with, you know, games, workshops, vendors and a ritual.
- 17:15And Suna Bloat is one of their annual public events.
- 17:19So Adam's been working very closely and, and because Adam is
- 17:22a member of Braven Moon Hearth, so he knows who again, who Greg
- 17:25is their Chieftain. But anyways, Adam is working
- 17:28very hard to to help with some construction and modifications
- 17:33to the property where Suna Bloat is going to be held.
- 17:38So if you go on it's it's I know a lot of you are maybe watching
- 17:42this on YouTube, don't use, you know, like the Facebook platform
- 17:45or whatever, but that's where they have the event.
- 17:48So if you search for Raven Moon hearth, I think their Facebook
- 17:50page says friends of Raven moon hearth.
- 17:53But if you can go to their events, you'll find Suna bloat.
- 17:57And then again, they also have one public event that they host,
- 18:00same place, which she'll be hosting later in the.
- 18:03Fall called Shadowmoot and that's that that often that that
- 18:11that event usually coincides with the heathen winter nights
- 18:17celebration. So again, check them out.
- 18:23But anyways, my point was at that, as Adam's saying says
- 18:28splitting. Oh yeah, spitting a whole hog.
- 18:30So they, they, they're, they're, they're cooking a whole hog on a
- 18:32spit for this year, which is a new thing that this hearth has
- 18:37never done before this to my knowledge, at least not so long
- 18:39as I've known them. So that's quite a big
- 18:41undertaking. And that obviously is going to
- 18:43require some, some care and attention to, to preparing it
- 18:49and to feeding the people that are attending there.
- 18:52But again, public event, you don't have to be heathen or even
- 18:54a member of the Hearth to attend this.
- 19:01There's a, you know, ticket fees or, or, or whatever to, to, to
- 19:04show up there. It all goes towards the hearth
- 19:06and the expenses that they incur for hosting this sort of thing.
- 19:10And yeah, right, Adam. I mean, Shadowmoot is probably
- 19:12one of my favorite events that the Hearth holds.
- 19:15I've been to, to my knowledge, the Hearth has three events that
- 19:18they host publicly. They have the Feast of the
- 19:20Fallen event in the in the early spring, and then they have
- 19:26Cinebloat around summer solstice and Shadowmoot in the fall.
- 19:31Out of all three of those events that the hearth has held hosted
- 19:33over the last plus decade or so, I think Shadow Moon's probably
- 19:37my favorite. It's the time of year that is
- 19:40one of my favorites. It's it's again, winter nights
- 19:43in the in the Germanic or Scandinavian pre Christian
- 19:46heathen customs is the the, the, the start of winter, the
- 19:50beginning of winter. And it's it's, you know, cooler,
- 19:58much nicer for, for rugged camping and, and all that stuff.
- 20:04Hey there. Christy Hanson, who says sounds
- 20:06great. It is.
- 20:07It is absolutely great. I know people who have traveled
- 20:09all from all over the country because again, this is held it,
- 20:13it has historically been held in Tennessee just outside of
- 20:17Nashville in the Springfield area.
- 20:20Excuse me, but that has changed. And now they are going to be
- 20:24hosting. They're events it looks like, at
- 20:27least for the foreseeable future, maybe indefinitely.
- 20:29I don't know. Up in Hopkinsville, KY, roasted
- 20:34pig is delicious. I've had, I mean, I don't, I
- 20:36can't say for sure if I've ever had a hog roasted in like the in
- 20:40the ground, the way they they cook it in the ground or, or on
- 20:43a spit. But I've definitely, I mean,
- 20:44I've cooked wild boar on a, on a, on a grill.
- 20:47I've had wild game cooked. Over an open fire.
- 20:49There's something about game meat.
- 20:55Or livestock, you know, there's, there's something about the
- 20:58flavor of it when it's cooked over an open fire.
- 21:01It's that, that primal flavor that you know, that the taste of
- 21:04the smoke and everything. It's like you almost don't even
- 21:06need to you don't even need to season it much with anything.
- 21:09So except for, you know, the, the, the wood that you're, that
- 21:13you're cooking it. So anyways, the reason why I
- 21:15brought Greg up, that kind of went off a little bit on a
- 21:20tangent there, but the reason why I brought Greg up was to
- 21:26David Klein. Sorry, I want to just read this
- 21:27there. David on Facebook says that his
- 21:29kindred has has ritual and those, oh, he my kindred has
- 21:35weekend. Sorry, his kindred has ritual
- 21:38those weekends. Maybe someday.
- 21:39Yeah, I'd get it. You know, especially for a lot
- 21:43of pagans and heathens, you know, the summer solstice time
- 21:45of the year generates a lot of hubbub, I guess you could say.
- 21:50You know, a lot of pagans and stuff are doing things with
- 21:52their people in and around that time of year.
- 21:54So just again, just for people's awareness, if you're looking for
- 21:57something to do and you want to connect with other pagans and
- 22:01heathens in the area, that's one thing that is again open to the
- 22:04public. So, but anyways, why was I
- 22:08talking with Greg? Why did I have dinner with Greg?
- 22:10Well, I mean, he's my friend. He's a brother to me.
- 22:12We are oathed as brothers to one another.
- 22:15Even though I don't, I don't I'm not oath to the tribe of, of
- 22:18Raven Moon Hearth. I, I did enter into like an oath
- 22:25web with him at a, at a hearth event years ago.
- 22:32So we, we, we stay in touch. We, we, we obviously we talk
- 22:35almost every day in some form or fashion, even if it's just, you
- 22:37know, random messages back and forth, memes, you know, giving
- 22:40each other, you know, you know, giving each other shit,
- 22:44whatever, like brothers do. But anyways, it was nice to have
- 22:48that conversation. It's nice to have that, that
- 22:50time with him today because, and it made me think about because
- 22:56we, this is one of the things that we talked about was how we
- 23:00interact with with not just people and how we, we keep up
- 23:05relationships with people, but how we interact and keep up
- 23:09relationships with the divine. And I was talking to him about
- 23:15this, you know, we were, we were sharing this thought together
- 23:19about how when, when you, you know, go to ritual, however you
- 23:27label it, whether it's, you know, a traditional heathen
- 23:30bloat or whether it's just so, you know, a group gathered to,
- 23:34to give offerings to the, to the gods or, or to the spirits of
- 23:38the land or to the ancestors, whatever, whatever you want to
- 23:41label it as or however you want to frame around it, right?
- 23:43There's, there's a difference between the ritual, right, What
- 23:47we call bloat in Heathenry versus just a, a, a non
- 23:51structured offering, you know, and one of the things like we,
- 23:54we were talking about is what some of the similarities and
- 23:56differences of those two things are and how ritual has to have a
- 23:59structure to it. There is things in place, there
- 24:03is precedence, there are ways of going about doing it that make
- 24:08it ritual. And, and why is that?
- 24:10And it is because it needs to have that structure.
- 24:13So that way, when the people are coming to this, they are able
- 24:19to, you know, put themselves in that right, put themselves in
- 24:23that frame of mind and prepare for entering sacred space.
- 24:28You are becoming part of something that is outside of the
- 24:32profane space and time that we live in and and that we exist in
- 24:35regularly. So this is not just, you know,
- 24:38let's go hang out and hail the gods and, and whatever.
- 24:41No, this is, we are, we are, we are going into a place outside
- 24:45of a place. We are, we are experiencing time
- 24:47outside of time. And the ritual, it sets the sets
- 24:53that it is, it is structured in that sort of way.
- 24:57And we got to talking about how some people or how well we've
- 25:03noticed and how some people don't seem to understand or or
- 25:07appreciate or approach ritual with that understanding of that,
- 25:13with that mindset. And it's evident when they don't
- 25:16get anything out of it, They don't get anything out of the
- 25:18ritual. It's like they're they're,
- 25:20they're, they're showing up and they're being cavalier or
- 25:22they're being casual or they're not, you know, giving it the do
- 25:26benevolence or the do piety, you know, to the gods as it as is
- 25:31deserved. And then they, they, they leave
- 25:33and have, you know, it was nice. I just really didn't feel
- 25:35anything. I wonder why, you know, I wonder
- 25:38maybe if you'd put more focus and attention to dressing a
- 25:43little bit better or putting yourself in a mindset of I am
- 25:46going to now be in a space with divinity, with our holy powers.
- 25:54I I use the like the, the, the, the thing to say dress better
- 25:57because, you know, we've, we've all seen not rituals where,
- 26:00where people come and it's almost like they just, they,
- 26:02they left their job and they just came to ritual and they
- 26:05didn't care to take off their dirty shirt, put on a clean pair
- 26:09of pants, make themselves presentable.
- 26:13You know, and granted, this isn't, you know, the same as
- 26:16exactly, you know, like what you may want to compare is like your
- 26:19Sunday best if you were going to church or people that go to
- 26:21church. But Even so, I, I do think that
- 26:24there is, there is enough of an understanding that even among
- 26:28the pre Christian Germanic peoples and, and pagans that
- 26:31were, you know, that, that predate Christianity and then
- 26:35the formalities of the church and then this and then that,
- 26:37that there was still a very much, they were very much aware
- 26:41of, of where they were when they were in their sacred Groves.
- 26:46You know, they, they, it was sanctified, it was holy, it was
- 26:48separate from the profane, from the mundane.
- 26:52And they, they're even, I think Tacitus even documents it was
- 26:58either Taxidis or or Adam of Bremen.
- 27:02Pretty sure it was Tacitus who who says, you know, that they
- 27:04were, there was precedence. There was, there was, you know,
- 27:06they would approach things in a certain way.
- 27:07If somebody fell, they were not to be picked up.
- 27:10There were, there were certain things about their, how they
- 27:13behaved and how they interacted within their sacred Groves that
- 27:18separated it from outside of it. So, so it was something that we
- 27:22were talking about and I thought, you know, man, what a
- 27:23great, what a great thing to be reminded of.
- 27:27I'm gonna get caught up on some of the comments and then I'll
- 27:29pick it up here. Let's see, Christie is half
- 27:33Puerto Rican and we do stuff like that all the time.
- 27:36Yeah. The the Hispanic community
- 27:39really knows how to get down with when it comes to to
- 27:43cooking. Michael Thacker may try to go to
- 27:47Hopkinsville for the event. Well, cool, man.
- 27:49Yeah. If you're like I said, I don't
- 27:51know if you're on Facebook or not, but the the event.
- 27:54Oh, you're on Facebook. Never mind.
- 27:55Sorry, used to seeing you over on YouTube.
- 27:57But anyways, yeah, just go search for cinebloat or friends
- 28:01of Raven Moon hearth and you'll see all the details and and
- 28:03everything that you need to know.
- 28:06Christie's so half Puerto Rican. The other half is, is Swedish
- 28:09and Norwegian. So man, you, you are, you're
- 28:10you're, you're half N half S almost as far apart as as you
- 28:16can possibly be. Let's go.
- 28:18John Deeson. What's up, man?
- 28:19Hope you're still here watching. I just not caught up to the
- 28:21comment. What's up, my man?
- 28:23Good to see you here and looking forward to actually seeing you
- 28:25in person tomorrow. We got a we got a little shindig
- 28:27going on over here at Hegrihus, the the Heron's roost, as it
- 28:33were tomorrow with some for some men of the community, including
- 28:36Greg and John too. I believe Christie says they
- 28:43don't take, they don't take it seriously enough.
- 28:46You know, I don't know, like I'm not trying to lump everybody in,
- 28:49but I've noticed it, you know, I've noticed people who don't
- 28:52seem to take it seriously or they show up to ritual blitzed
- 28:54off their butts, man. They're, they're drunk, they're
- 28:57high or, or a combination of both.
- 29:00And, you know, listen, I'm not trying to, you know, be a, be a,
- 29:03be a, a stick in the mud or whatever.
- 29:07But cause I've, I've, I've been respectful to the, to the ritual
- 29:14and to the ceremony, but I've, I've leveraged certain
- 29:17substances to enhance the ritual experience to maybe get myself
- 29:20in a, in an altered state of consciousness.
- 29:23Nothing unhealthy, but that can really open up some doors, man,
- 29:27that can, that can really set the tone.
- 29:29But I'm not talking about that. I'm talking about people that
- 29:31have just, you know, been drinking all day or doing
- 29:34whatever all day. And then they show up to ritual
- 29:36and it's, and it's, they're, it's obvious they're inebriated.
- 29:38It's disrespectful. Yeah.
- 29:41Always go to the ritual clean. I like, I like that.
- 29:43Christy, thank you for for saying that Michael got lonely
- 29:49on YouTube. Oh, man, yeah.
- 29:51I don't know. I, I can't tell who's watching.
- 29:53I know we've got 11 live viewers, which for 33,000
- 29:58Facebook followers and 6 1/2 thousand, you know, YouTube,
- 30:02I've advertised this thing, this thing here.
- 30:05I did it on a Friday, 'cause I knew, you know, it was, it was
- 30:07better for, for the engagement. But this just goes to show you,
- 30:12you know, we're at the, we're at the, the whims of, of the
- 30:14algorithms. I'm excited for tomorrow too,
- 30:17John. I'm, I'm super stoked to see
- 30:20people and, and yeah, definitely hang out and just, you know,
- 30:27sharing some, I've got some, you know, some chicken and some
- 30:30sausages and some, some good meats that we're going to be
- 30:33going to be cracking on with. That's a, that's a term that I
- 30:39haven't heard a lot of. I don't hear it over here, but I
- 30:42used to talk to a guy years ago at my work at my job who is,
- 30:52who's British. He lives in England, he works in
- 30:56London, and we used to have like weekly meetings with this guy
- 31:04and his team. And so like, when the meeting
- 31:07would start, we'd all be, you know, just small talk, you know
- 31:12what I mean? And then when it was because it
- 31:15was his meeting or whatever, he'd be like, all right, then
- 31:17let's crack on, shall we? And I'm like, God, I love it,
- 31:20man. I want to talk like, don't want
- 31:21to use terms like crack on and shall we?
- 31:23And you know, and, and this and I think it's great.
- 31:27So yeah, we're going to, we're going to crack on some of them.
- 31:31And then then bangers, anything that what they call sausages
- 31:35over in the UK, Bangers, bangers and mash.
- 31:42All right. Anyway, Michael, what we got,
- 31:46what was the hardest? So Michael's got a comment or
- 31:48question, he said, what was the hardest?
- 31:49What was the hardest things to adjust to when you started in
- 31:53Heathenry? Asking mostly because I'm still
- 31:56having trouble after, after these years.
- 32:00I'd be curious to know, Michael, like what are you having
- 32:03challenges with or what do you find, you know, as you say,
- 32:08having trouble with? I think for me, you know,
- 32:12because I came into Heathenry with, with very limited
- 32:17knowledge about it. I didn't know that this was a,
- 32:20that this was an actual religion or a folkway or, or, or
- 32:24spirituality or belief system that, that, that exists and that
- 32:28existed among people. And so I guess when I came into
- 32:36to Heathenry, one of the challenges that I had, you know,
- 32:44or I guess one of the hardest things to adjust to was the
- 32:47world view of, of Heathenry. You know, and it's not to say
- 32:51that there is an old, a universal thing that, you know,
- 32:54every heathen does everything the exact same way.
- 32:57For example, there's plenty of heathens that choose to not
- 33:00adopt A historically accurate approach to when they celebrate
- 33:04certain things. Some heathens like to follow a
- 33:07Wiccan wheel of the year model of Heathenry where they, you
- 33:10know, observe Wiccan Sabbaths instead of the historical pre
- 33:16Christian heathen holy tides of Germanic people.
- 33:20I'm not talking about that. I'm talking about, you know,
- 33:23realizing that the gods weren't, they didn't act in the same
- 33:27agency as the Christian God, you know, as, as what I was raised
- 33:31and to believe. So there's all of that, you
- 33:34know, dogmatic stuff that was difficult for me to, or
- 33:41challenging for me to, to, I guess, unlearn and reprogram
- 33:45myself, if that's the right way to put it.
- 33:49You know, learning and practicing and, and, and, and
- 33:52stuff is, is what helped with that.
- 33:58But I was willing, you know, I mean, like I was willing to, to,
- 34:00to take the challenge on, you know, head on and get through
- 34:06it, I guess. And, you know, the other thing
- 34:08that was probably hard for me was because I was dedicated in
- 34:13that endeavor to learn and to adopt this way of of a belief.
- 34:18Probably the hardest thing when I first got into it was knowing
- 34:23that I was going to be ostracized and excommunicated by
- 34:30my family, you know, my mom, my dad, my sister, my uncles, and
- 34:34everybody that I grew up around and all my life.
- 34:39Because again, I, I, I, I grew up with this feeling like I
- 34:44don't want to let them down. You know, I don't want to
- 34:46disappoint them. And I had already up to that
- 34:49point when, you know, I had made, you know, life decisions,
- 34:51you know, moving away from New York and, and having a life in
- 34:54Tennessee. And then all of the things that
- 34:55they didn't approve of, I was already living with that sort
- 34:58sense of guilt. Like I let somebody down.
- 35:01I let the people I love down. They, I didn't live up to their
- 35:03expectations of what they thought I should be.
- 35:07So, you know, as a, as a baby heathen, you know, when you're
- 35:09getting into those things and you don't have the support of,
- 35:11of your family, you're trying to find your way.
- 35:13That's tough. So I would probably say that
- 35:16that was the hardest thing that I had to face when starting in
- 35:21Heathenry and and you know, you say hardest thing to adjust to.
- 35:29Yeah, I think that was the hardest thing for me to adjust
- 35:32to. Thank you for the question.
- 35:36Irish guacamole, says John. Yeah, mashed potatoes.
- 35:38Yeah, they call it Irish guacamole.
- 35:40Man, you ain't lying. Man, you ain't lying.
- 35:42You almost can't go wrong with some good old mashed titers.
- 35:48Christopher Miller says that. Speaking of the Heron's roost,
- 35:51how did you go about connecting with your Filia?
- 35:54Did it reveal itself gradually, or was it a sudden revelation?
- 35:59Great question, Christopher. So for those of you that maybe
- 36:03don't know or, or new to this, I mean, I, I said earlier on the
- 36:06on the show there, the stream there, I said, you know, men
- 36:08have men coming over to Hagre Hoose, which is just the House
- 36:11of the Heron. You know, so like oof or hoose
- 36:13you might see or hear or Kravan hoose, you know, Raven house and
- 36:17wolf house and you know, Bjardin hoose or whatever.
- 36:20You know, the hoose part is house and hagre is the, the
- 36:24Norse word for for Heron. So Hagre hoose is the heron's
- 36:28house or the heron's roost, as I say, because that's what herons
- 36:31do. They, they, they roost in trees.
- 36:34So he's asking how did I go about connecting with my fidia?
- 36:39So the fidia is again a Norse term, an old Norse part of the
- 36:44complex of the self, right? It's part of our soul complex
- 36:47in, in the Norse belief that reflects a, a, an animal many
- 36:53times or, or it is an animal entity or an animal spirit, part
- 36:58of our, our self. But Filia is the word that means
- 37:01basically follower. So the Filia follows you, it
- 37:05goes ahead of you. It is, it is said, I think in
- 37:08the stories that you know, if you see your Filia in a dream,
- 37:10it's, it's kind of like a bad omen.
- 37:13Or if you see the Filia real life, it's a bad omen.
- 37:15But I, I use the term Filia cause again, it, it, it relates
- 37:20to the Norse heathen or the Germanic heathen.
- 37:22I, I, I say Norse, but I mean, I'm not, I don't know of any,
- 37:25like I don't think I have any Scandinavian, Norwegian or, or
- 37:29Icelandic or or Swedish ancestry.
- 37:32I am Germanic. Most of my ancestry that I know
- 37:35on the Germanic side of things are are, you know, on the
- 37:39continent. So, but it speaks to me and it
- 37:43and it and it relates to me. So anyway, how did I go about
- 37:46connecting with my Filia? And did it did it reveal itself
- 37:50gradually? It's hard for me to place.
- 37:54I really like an exact moment in time when this happened.
- 37:59But I live geographically near a river.
- 38:02My house is positioned some several 100 yards away from the
- 38:07Stones River in in in Murfreesboro, TN.
- 38:10The Stones River battlefield is is down the road for me.
- 38:13It's a very infamous area for US American, you know, Civil War
- 38:19history. And so living on a river or
- 38:25living near the river, you know, you, you see all kinds of, of
- 38:28animals and, and fowl and you know, herons are, are water
- 38:34fowl. They, they, they live near and
- 38:35around water. But I noticed that I was, I was
- 38:42finding my way through my heathenry to be leaning in into
- 38:45the animistic side of things, really connecting with spirit in
- 38:51the land, you know, really finding my place in and, and
- 38:56feeling at home at the river, you know, So I would go in the
- 39:00river to, to walk or I would sit on the, on the riverbanks and I
- 39:03would drum or I would burn incense or meditator.
- 39:06I would just, you know, find my myself at peace connecting in
- 39:11the river. And the more I was doing that,
- 39:13the more I was seeing the heroin appear and it would appear in,
- 39:19in, in ways that were what what I felt like to me in the moment
- 39:25were acknowledgments. They were, it was, it was, it
- 39:27was an encounter that I was having with this spirit that was
- 39:31acknowledging my presence in its space.
- 39:34And as I learned more, and as I became more aware of this
- 39:38animism, it, it, it became apparent that not only was the
- 39:43Heron connected to me there at the river, you know, where I
- 39:46would be connected with it, but that it would go with me.
- 39:49I would go places and it would, it would or, or or other people
- 39:53even would that I wasn't with would see it.
- 39:56You know, I would I would be talking with them and they would
- 39:58have an encounter with a Heron and there was a lot of, you
- 40:03know, you could say unexplainable such encounters.
- 40:09So I, I think it was like I didn't have, I guess I can say
- 40:12that I didn't have like a profound dream or vision or
- 40:15anything that said, you know, a Heron came to me and was like, I
- 40:18am your Fulia now. You know, Luke, I am your
- 40:23failure. No, wasn't anything quite like
- 40:25that. It wasn't a, you know, a kind of
- 40:27epiphany moment. It was gradual.
- 40:30But it was very clear to me that I, I, I am the Heron that flies
- 40:38to hell. It was a name that was given to
- 40:39me by a very near and dear brother to me.
- 40:45And, and that name was given to me some years ago after
- 40:48discovering the connection with the Heron and as as, as a person
- 40:52of American lineage. Obviously I was born here.
- 40:57Most of my immediate ancestors are from here.
- 41:00I think some of my great, great grandparents on my mother's
- 41:03side, great, great, great grandparents came from from
- 41:06Europe. But most of the people on my
- 41:09dad's side of the family on on the still wagon side.
- 41:12You know, we've been we've been in this country.
- 41:13I can, I have, I can document myself back to like the 1600s,
- 41:18my family, I mean, I can document many of the family line
- 41:21back to the 1600s. One of which connections I can
- 41:25100% for sure say I have is through marriage and through so
- 41:32not like birth per SE, but I have marital ancestry that goes
- 41:39back to Pocahontas. The Pocahontas.
- 41:42I can prove it. I have the papers that that that
- 41:45show it. My, my dad's side of the family
- 41:48is, has one of one of his cousins was a genealogist with
- 41:54the daughters of the American Revolution years and years ago.
- 41:57Lots and lots of time and energy have been spent to to trace our
- 42:00sides of the family back that far.
- 42:04So the reason I say that is because even though it's it's
- 42:06way, way back, and I mean, listen, I'm not delusional.
- 42:08I'm not trying to say like just because I have, you know, 1
- 42:11three thousandth of a percent of, you know, Pilotin and I'm
- 42:16and I'm blanking on the rest of it, but it's all, you know, that
- 42:18side of of of the Native American East Coast tribes.
- 42:24They were, they were very close to the to the marshes in the
- 42:26inland waterways, you know, so the Heron was it was an
- 42:31important part of the culture there too.
- 42:34And so anyway, knowing that and and finding connection with that
- 42:37spirit is, is what really set it in for me.
- 42:40There was no question to me and I've grown with the Heron and
- 42:45the Heron has grown with me and and together we have have shared
- 42:48many meaningful things. So it's a it's a great, you
- 42:51know, story I could tell. I have a saga out that matter of
- 42:54fact, a couple year, a couple episodes ago, I read the saga of
- 42:58the Heron that flies to hell on the podcast.
- 43:00So if you all are interested and you want to listen to it, you
- 43:03can find it on Spotify or Apple podcasts or wherever else you
- 43:07stream your podcasts, or you can watch it on Patreon when you
- 43:11join at the Carl tier. So thank you Chris for that
- 43:13question. Let's see.
- 43:16Oh, question nihilism on YouTube.
- 43:17Hey, we got another YouTube on here.
- 43:18What's up, man? Oh, going back to Dippy
- 43:23soldiers. Oh, we're talking about food
- 43:24again. Yeah, sorry, I'm, I'm catching
- 43:26up the comments again. Sorry, all they call them dippy
- 43:29soldiers. What are some other crazy things
- 43:30that Britain, British people say when it comes to food, You know,
- 43:33like, oh, you know, or when you're drunk.
- 43:35I'm knackered or not. What is it?
- 43:37Knackered. Knackered, I know knickers.
- 43:39Those are pants, Nick. I'm not going to say it again.
- 43:43I'm going to be cancelled if I do anyway.
- 43:46What we got Michael Thacker says just getting in the mindset and
- 43:50grounded lately. So the challenges that you're
- 43:53facing getting in the mindset, maybe your next comment here,
- 44:03Let's see. So lately I feel as though
- 44:04nothing has been going correctly.
- 44:07That or it's the 60 to 80 hour work weeks.
- 44:13And I know there's some other people commenting probably in
- 44:15response to this. John says I've been there.
- 44:18It's the constant grind that wears on us.
- 44:20Makes time. Make time for yourself and take
- 44:22the time to reconnect with yourself.
- 44:29This is great advice, but yeah, Michael, to to your, to your
- 44:34last statement there where you said, you know, I feel as though
- 44:37nothing has been going correctly.
- 44:41You know, that that that's probably a relative term to you,
- 44:44you know, because what is going correctly for you may not have
- 44:47any meaning to me or to anybody else, you know, so correctly is,
- 44:52is a relative term for you. And if you feel that you're kind
- 44:57of again, not able to connect and, you know, 6080 hour work
- 45:02weeks, dude, that is, that is a hustle.
- 45:06I'm not saying that, you know, take a break.
- 45:09I mean, I am, I'm saying take a break.
- 45:11Like, I don't know, like that's brutal.
- 45:13That's not sustainable. I mean, it, it, this isn't it.
- 45:18It's the, the world we live in is built around the grind.
- 45:22You know what I mean? Like everything I grind to, you
- 45:25know what I'm saying? Like, I mean, I'm, I'm hustling
- 45:28in different ways, but ways that that really wear on my mind.
- 45:33And you know, it's every, every situation's unique, every
- 45:37situation's different, but you have to take time for yourself.
- 45:41You have to take care of yourself.
- 45:44I've, I've noticed that people that don't, when they, when
- 45:48they're feeling disconnected, that's the reason it's, it's the
- 45:50biggest reason why they don't feel connected to their
- 45:52spirituality, to their religion, to their, you know, life,
- 45:56whatever they feel like, you know, everything's against them
- 45:58or it's not going correctly or it's things aren't going well.
- 46:04It's because there's, there's, there's neglect present.
- 46:08You know, you're so focused on the work, work, work, work,
- 46:10work. You're you're, you're putting
- 46:14out so much that you're not feeding back in to, to take care
- 46:17of that ability to work so hard. So yeah, I would say I would, I
- 46:22would kind of echo what John says is, is, you know, take
- 46:25time. Make time.
- 46:28Don't just take, make it. I mean, whatever.
- 46:30Just make time for yourself. It can be, you know, touch skin
- 46:37to grasp. Put your put your bare skin, put
- 46:39your bare feet, put your hands, lay down, right.
- 46:42But just connect, be on the ground and just pause.
- 46:44Just stop and just let yourself be present with yourself without
- 46:51anything else going on. And just because once your mind
- 46:56quiets down and once you have nothing else to worry about,
- 46:59then you can think clearly about how to approach it going
- 47:04forward. But you have to start with that
- 47:05first step, right? You have to make time for
- 47:08yourself. So I do hope that helps and I
- 47:13hope that you are. Hope you're OK, man.
- 47:18Thank you for for opening up. Christopher says that they
- 47:21sprinkled they call sprinkles hundreds and thousands.
- 47:24That's that's just what that's OK.
- 47:28I mean, that's literal, but like, what's up with that?
- 47:32Oh, yeah. Give me a bowl of vanilla ice
- 47:34cream with hundreds and thousands on it.
- 47:35Hundreds and thousands of what? You know, suggestions, thoughts,
- 47:42ideas. Like what do you want hundreds
- 47:43and thousands of? That's, that's, that's funny,
- 47:50crushing nihilism. And thank you everybody for
- 47:52being here on this Friday Night Live stream for those folks that
- 47:56listen later on, you know, the again, these are monthly things.
- 47:59So just follow me on social media to know where and when
- 48:01these are happening, that they're always usually streamed
- 48:04to Facebook and and YouTube simultaneously.
- 48:06It's just a matter of when, what day of the week and and then all
- 48:09that. So thank you all for being here.
- 48:12Crushing nihilism on YouTube says that my biggest challenge
- 48:15as a heathen has been the quote UN quote orthodox heathen
- 48:19community. And to them, Christian nihilism
- 48:23is a heretical boy. Yeah, you know, and, and this
- 48:29goes back to the whole like world view of things or mindset
- 48:35of things. Like, you know, some, some
- 48:37heathen come, some people as, as, as heathens don't see there
- 48:43being any orthodoxy and heathens and others do.
- 48:48And orthopraxy, orthopraxy. These are these are pretty
- 48:54important topics to talk about too.
- 48:56I've talked about them a bit. But there are definitely, I
- 49:01guess arguments to both sides. The orthodox or the orthopraxic
- 49:07ones are, are, are going to think that that's it, you know,
- 49:11and it's, you know, if you're, if you're going to be heathen
- 49:13and then this is the way you got to do it.
- 49:14And if you're not, then you're, if you don't, then you're not,
- 49:19which can deter a lot of newcomers, especially,
- 49:22especially folks that are trying to learn and, and you know, come
- 49:26into that way. It can be a deterrent.
- 49:31I've got another Facebook comment here from UNK Heathen.
- 49:35What's up? UNK He says hail Jesse, Uncle
- 49:39Heathen here. Just wanted to say thank you.
- 49:41Your words on Midgard musings lit the path for me when I was
- 49:43just finding my way. And I've learned a lot about
- 49:45honoring the old gods from you. Appreciate all you do Hail and
- 49:49thank you. I appreciate that UNK Good to
- 49:51see you here. And yeah, I hope you stick
- 49:54around and, and and continue to, to see what it, what we do here.
- 49:58I I I appreciate that man. Very, very kind words.
- 50:01You know, I'm glad to have been a, a sort of jumping off point
- 50:07for you. That's really humbling.
- 50:09So it's good to have you here. Thank you.
- 50:15Let's see. David Klenn says that one thing
- 50:19I did for myself this year is get healthy.
- 50:22This goes back to taking care of ourselves and making time for
- 50:24ourselves and making, you know, making our ourselves a priority.
- 50:27So David says that one thing he did for himself this year is to
- 50:30get healthy. Lost 35 lbs, five inches on his
- 50:34waist, feeling better and more connected than other, more
- 50:37connected than ever. First of all, David,
- 50:39congratulations. I know what it's like to
- 50:41struggle with weight gain. Weight loss it especially as we
- 50:45get older. Some people have a have a have a
- 50:49higher metabolism. They don't have as big of a
- 50:52problem maintaining their weight.
- 50:53But I've noticed that as I've gotten older, I can't, you know,
- 50:58my metabolism isn't the same as it was when I was in my 20s.
- 51:04You know, I could, I could eat, eat, eat, eat, eat, not gain an
- 51:08ounce. Plus, I was, you know, working
- 51:10out and working a physical job, you know, I mean, so I was, I
- 51:12was burning the calories more than what I was consuming.
- 51:15But I was still, you know, my parents, one of the things that
- 51:17they used to call me or, or say about me was I had a hollow leg.
- 51:20They're like, where does he put it all?
- 51:22But you're right, David, it, you know, taking care of ourselves
- 51:25physically, it, it, it, it has a direct connection to our overall
- 51:30health. You will feel not just
- 51:32physically better, but you will feel emotionally, spiritually,
- 51:36mentally better when you start really paying attention to the
- 51:41type of substances you put in your body, the way you take care
- 51:45of yourself as a being right, whether it's, you know, going on
- 51:51walks, working out, doing push ups, whatever, you know, you got
- 51:55to think, you know, our ancestors, they, they worked for
- 51:57everything that they had. There was no sit and call of a
- 52:01pizza in, you know, or, or, or order Uber Eats on an app you
- 52:05know, or, or or even, you know, open a refrigerator and and make
- 52:09a sandwich. You know, not all that long ago,
- 52:13if you wanted to eat, you had to work for it.
- 52:16You had to hunt it, grow it, trap it, fish it.
- 52:19You know, you had to do something.
- 52:23And our society has has grown so far away from that that it's,
- 52:28you know, it's no wonder so much so many of us are struggling
- 52:33with that. So.
- 52:34But good on you, David. And that's very inspiring.
- 52:36Thanks for sharing. Yeah.
- 52:39John says that's what's that is a win.
- 52:41Exactly. You know, making time, caring,
- 52:44taking care of yourself. We can't be there and show up
- 52:47for others if we can't show up for ourselves.
- 52:49Louder for those in back, John. That's what I'm talking about.
- 52:54You know, you can't be there for others and show up.
- 52:58You can't pick up somebody off the ground if you yourself are
- 53:01laying down, you know, in a ditch.
- 53:05There's a, there's a, there's a pretty common, a dog is
- 53:11scratching herself and she's like, it's knocking on the door
- 53:13and it's hilarious. It sounds like she's knocking.
- 53:15No, you have to book an interview with me on my website,
- 53:20please and thank you anyway. But to John's point, you know,
- 53:24you can't be there and show it for others if we can't show it
- 53:26for ourselves. There's a, there's a pretty
- 53:28popular thing in, in a parable, you know, and, and this is
- 53:34Christianity, but you know that the parable of, of, of you can't
- 53:40pull the mote out of your brother's eye if you have a beam
- 53:42in your own. You can't, you can't help
- 53:43somebody else if you're fucked up.
- 53:45You know what I'm saying? Just to be like blunt about it.
- 53:49And it's a philosophy. It's it's a teaching.
- 53:51It's, it's, it's something that you know, doesn't, you can't
- 53:56bottleneck it into just Christianity.
- 53:57Sure, it's the thing that got mentioned in the Christian
- 54:00Bible, but I think it's, it's, it's worth leveraging into our
- 54:03own beliefs. It's, you know, you can't pick
- 54:04somebody else up if you yourself are, are, are, you know, down in
- 54:10a ditch, you know, like John says, you know, you can't be
- 54:13there for others and show up for others if you can't show up for
- 54:15yourself. So I don't want to take away
- 54:18from that from you, John, but man, what a, what a very great
- 54:22way of, of, of, of making that distinction.
- 54:25So thank you. Crushing nihilism as have you
- 54:29read Steven Brink's paper on the uniformity of Norse religion?
- 54:32I have not. And I'm not familiar with who
- 54:35Steven Brink is. It's not a name that I've come
- 54:41across doesn't mean anything inherently, but I'll I'll
- 54:45definitely check it out. I'm always interested in hearing
- 54:49what people are are reading these days or researching these
- 54:52days. So Stephen Brink, I will, I will
- 54:56take note of that and look into it and might be something that
- 55:00gets used for for for for something on a on a future
- 55:05podcast. Michael Thacker.
- 55:11Sorry. Michael Thacker says lately I've
- 55:12taken to a cigar and evening on the front porch.
- 55:16We're down four people at work, which means extra stores for
- 55:20everyone. Oh, you work at a soda company,
- 55:23So you're doing all of that. Yeah.
- 55:26And that's, you know, that's that's great.
- 55:29I have to take care of this. Go lay down somewhere worrying
- 55:34me to death over here with that knock.
- 55:36And she's scratching herself and it's like knocking on the door
- 55:38anyway. Yeah, a nice, you know, and, and
- 55:42that's great. That's a great way to wind down
- 55:44and kind of take your mind off of the stress of things.
- 55:48But I get it. You know, you've got all of that
- 55:52in the moment, you know, and you're thinking about it later.
- 55:55It's tough. I get it.
- 55:56You're thinking about later on, like, oh, you know, we're down
- 55:59four people. I got to wake up tomorrow and do
- 56:01all this extra stuff, you know, and it's, you know, rinse and
- 56:04repeat and the cycle continues. I, I, I can totally relate to
- 56:10that. I think one of the things that
- 56:17has helped me when it comes to this, this work life balance,
- 56:22you know what I'm saying? One of the things that has aided
- 56:28me in, in not getting caught up in that is living in the moment.
- 56:35All right, this is what I got to do today.
- 56:37Don't worry about what it's going to be tomorrow.
- 56:41It may not be here, or I mean, I may not be here for it.
- 56:45I'll worry about it when I get there.
- 56:47I'm going to. I'm not going to be oblivious or
- 56:50ignorant to planning and being prepared.
- 56:54And I'm also not going to let the this is a conscious thing,
- 57:00man. Like this.
- 57:00This takes work. This takes real work.
- 57:03This takes inner work. This takes some shadow work, if
- 57:06you want to call it that, to sit with yourself and realize I am
- 57:10not going to let these things, these unknown things, the future
- 57:14worry me because you know what the future is.
- 57:16That's what we call anxiety. You know, I'm not a professional
- 57:24psychologist, psychiatrist, mental health person.
- 57:27I don't have any formal training in this, in this field.
- 57:30I just know that when we worry about things that haven't yet
- 57:35happened, that's what anxiety is.
- 57:38You're thinking about it too much.
- 57:40You're worrying about something that doesn't even exist.
- 57:44It hasn't manifested yet. That truckload of soda that's
- 57:49going to where the hell ever tomorrow.
- 57:51You're not in tomorrow. I mean, you know, all of these
- 57:54reports that I have to run for this, for this client, you know,
- 57:58next week. Well, I'm not there yet.
- 58:00I'm here now. I finished what I had to do
- 58:03today and that thing is not, is not, I'm not letting it worry
- 58:08me. I will deal with it when I get
- 58:10there and I know that it will be there when I get there.
- 58:13If I get there, whatever, I'm not worried about it, though,
- 58:16I'll deal with it when I get there.
- 58:18And, and it honestly, that's one of the toughest things to, to
- 58:20really embrace because we have so much on our plates,
- 58:26especially as men. Like we have so much that we,
- 58:29that we ponder about that we have, you know, we, we take on a
- 58:31lot as providers. We, we, we, we carry the weight
- 58:36of the world, of our own worlds on our shoulders.
- 58:39And we feel like it has to be us.
- 58:41We have to do it alone. We have to do it.
- 58:43Nobody else is going to do it for us.
- 58:44And, and that's man, that that has been the downfall of, of so
- 58:48many, so many men, so many good people, not just men, but I
- 58:52mean, you know, I would just maybe just, you know, as a, as a
- 58:57edification for you there, Michael.
- 58:58I mean, it's don't worry about it.
- 59:03And I listen, you know, I'm used to hearing responses of, of when
- 59:07I say stuff like that. Some people really don't want to
- 59:12hear that. You know, I'll, I'll, I'll get
- 59:15responses of such things as like, you can't say that.
- 59:18You can't just tell me to not worry about it.
- 59:21It's not that easy. It's not that simple.
- 59:27Why not? I mean, nobody's the same.
- 59:31We're not the same. I, I, I, I realize that
- 59:34everybody is going through their own things.
- 59:36Some people have way more mental hurdles to go through in their
- 59:42life and that and that plague them and that they're, that they
- 59:44struggle with. But if you, if you sit in the
- 59:48moment again, be present, sit in the moment and think about it
- 59:51and just, and just realize why not?
- 59:55Why can't, why isn't it that simple?
- 59:57It, well, it's not that simple because I'm not, I'm making it
- 1:00:00that way. I'm complicating it.
- 1:00:03The reality of it is what it is. Your perception, the way you
- 1:00:07perceive The thing is what makes it makes you anxious or, or
- 1:00:12makes you worry or this or that, right.
- 1:00:15So inherently the reality of it is, is, is what it is.
- 1:00:19You know, the way you feel about it doesn't change what it is.
- 1:00:24And that's a tough thing to people for some people to.
- 1:00:27To accept, Adam says you can't, you can't help others when you
- 1:00:33yourself are broken. It's another good point, Adam.
- 1:00:37Thank you for sharing that too. That's another good way of
- 1:00:39putting it. You have to mend the wounds, you
- 1:00:42know, and it's you know. Have a good night to you too
- 1:00:47there, John. Just I'll see you tomorrow.
- 1:00:51Thank you, man. Proud of you too.
- 1:00:53Thank you for being in my life and and thank you for showing up
- 1:00:56to the show tonight. But what was I going to say is
- 1:01:02yeah, you know, mending the wounds, you know, and and that's
- 1:01:05a that's an ongoing process, you know what I mean?
- 1:01:06Like just because you are wounded, you know, mending those
- 1:01:14wounds, it it doesn't take away from the fact of what had
- 1:01:16happened. You know, you're still going
- 1:01:17through that healing. You're still going through those
- 1:01:20motions of healing it, it, it doesn't erase what had happened
- 1:01:27that caused it, but tending to it and being present with it and
- 1:01:32actually sitting with those wounds and, and, and learning
- 1:01:36everything you can from them. It is, it's it that is part of
- 1:01:38the healing process as part of the work.
- 1:01:42Take it one day at a time. Like Adam says.
- 1:01:44The gods will show us what we need and have to do tomorrow.
- 1:01:48Things will provide for themselves, right?
- 1:01:51You know, worry not for the tomorrow.
- 1:01:53It is sufficient. There are sufficient things to
- 1:01:56worry about that that the tomorrow worries for itself, you
- 1:02:01know, and there's plenty of things going on today that can
- 1:02:05that that need to be addressed, right?
- 1:02:06There's plenty of of things to be cared for here now present
- 1:02:10that require your attention. So take it as he says, one day
- 1:02:16at a time. The gods, your ancestors,
- 1:02:20spirit, whatever you know name you want to put to that is is
- 1:02:24going to be there when the next thing comes right?
- 1:02:32Crushing nihilism. Continuing on here says for
- 1:02:34those struggling with anxiety, I would check your diet first.
- 1:02:37Here we go. Great great follow up to what
- 1:02:40David Klenn was saying. You know a lot of times food has
- 1:02:42mental effects. 100% accurate true yes.
- 1:02:46And if it's not food related, then get a regular banishing
- 1:02:49practice. You know, I'll let you zol in a
- 1:02:57little bit on just something that I do some work that I do.
- 1:03:08It's a bit of a cultic individual cultic practice,
- 1:03:11right? It's my own hearth cult.
- 1:03:12So I'm not, I'm not suggesting this for you to now adopt it,
- 1:03:18but if it inspires and you want to maybe consider this, then
- 1:03:24fine. I mean, I don't, it's fine.
- 1:03:27So anyway, what I regularly do in my spatial areas, my house,
- 1:03:34you know, is I, I burn certain things, certain resins and which
- 1:03:42by the way, certain resin smokes, like for example,
- 1:03:45frankincense and benzoin and and myrrh.
- 1:03:49You know, these don't just, they don't just smell good when they
- 1:03:52burn. You know, the actual resin rocks
- 1:03:55when, when you put them on like the Colt, a charcoal sensor or
- 1:03:59something, right? They don't just smell good.
- 1:04:03They actually have a bit of a mildly psychoactive components
- 1:04:10to it. And maybe not psychoactive is is
- 1:04:11probably not the right term for it, but it's the closest thing I
- 1:04:14can think of. You know, like breathing in the
- 1:04:15smoke of frankincense can actually calm your mind.
- 1:04:21You know what I mean? And it's no wonder then that
- 1:04:25this particular resin is burned in cathedrals and and stuff
- 1:04:29during Mass, you know what I mean?
- 1:04:30Or is used in letters in other cultures for ceremonial
- 1:04:34purposes. It is has a common effect that
- 1:04:36calms your mind and calms your heart comes your spirit.
- 1:04:38You know what I mean? So for example, you know, like
- 1:04:43there are regular things that I do to keep the spatial areas of
- 1:04:47my home and my land and the property around my space, you
- 1:04:51know, for my wife and I to keep it welcoming, to keep it clean
- 1:04:55both physically and spiritually. So the smoke is an offering to
- 1:04:59the spirits of we welcome you. But it also is a shield.
- 1:05:05It is a ward. It is a banishing of baleful
- 1:05:09whites of of of those who would wish to invade or do harm.
- 1:05:15And it works. It has worked for me when done
- 1:05:18with the right, you know, with the right purpose behind it, it
- 1:05:23is definitely working. So to your point, you know, to
- 1:05:24crushing nihilism's comment here, I 100% agree.
- 1:05:28Right. Don't go just jump into the pool
- 1:05:30of woo woo magic stuff and then think that that's going to solve
- 1:05:33all your problems. Take care of your physical self,
- 1:05:35change your diet, look at what you're eating or consuming then
- 1:05:39putting into you that could be having a negative effect and
- 1:05:42adjust that accordingly, right? Make those course corrections
- 1:05:46and in tandem figure out your, your spirituality practices and
- 1:05:53maybe work towards creating a wholesome environment, a
- 1:05:57wholesome space for benevolence, for benevolent spirits, for the
- 1:06:02whites that, that you know, inhabit the space around you
- 1:06:04that are there for your, for your good.
- 1:06:07And then coexist peacefully and work to banish the baleful ones.
- 1:06:14All right. Christopher Miller says that the
- 1:06:17unwise man is awake all night worrying about everything.
- 1:06:20He's fatigued when the morning comes and his problems remain
- 1:06:23unsolved, which is the 23rd stanza.
- 1:06:25We have them all. Thanks for the quote there,
- 1:06:27Chris. You've, it's funny that you
- 1:06:29mention that. I've, I've, I've talked about
- 1:06:31this stanza. I've mentioned it, I've
- 1:06:32referenced it many times to people.
- 1:06:35And I was thinking about it kind of in the back of my head, but I
- 1:06:37just couldn't like break train of thought on what I was
- 1:06:40thinking. So I'm glad you brought it up
- 1:06:42And it it's, it speaks for itself.
- 1:06:44It is a very timely thing to mention here, but it is so true.
- 1:06:52You know, I can't, I can't add really much to anything on that.
- 1:06:57So thank you. All right, David, heading out.
- 1:07:01Have a great evening. Hope to meet you in person soon.
- 1:07:04We got to figure something out, David.
- 1:07:05I mean, we're I, I was, I was actually thinking about you the
- 1:07:11about a month or so ago I had to, I had a visit a a dear
- 1:07:14friend of mine at the Murray Regional Medical Center.
- 1:07:18He had been admitted to the hospital and he's OK now.
- 1:07:20He's back home in Lewisburg, but he had been moved out there to
- 1:07:24to Murray County. And I was like, man, here I am,
- 1:07:27you know, under these circumstances, I don't have time
- 1:07:29to, to hit somebody up just randomly.
- 1:07:31But you were on my mind. So we do.
- 1:07:34We got to we got to coordinate something.
- 1:07:36We got to figure something out. All right.
- 1:07:39Adam says, yeah, Say it out loud.
- 1:07:43Say it out loud. Say my name.
- 1:07:45Say my name. Anyway, what am I drinking on
- 1:07:48tonight? There I am, drinking whiskey.
- 1:07:53Whiskey, as Stewie Griffin would say.
- 1:07:57Quill Wheaton. It is just just a just a a
- 1:08:02blended Scotch. Glenn McGregor, I think.
- 1:08:07Or it might be, I don't know. It's black velvet.
- 1:08:09Sorry. Black velvet, if you please.
- 1:08:15Yeah, I know it ain't. It ain't top shelf, it ain't
- 1:08:17fancy, but neither am I. I'm a I'm a, I'm a, I'm a baddie
- 1:08:23on a budget. It's a good Scotch, you know it.
- 1:08:30Listen, I, I do enjoy good Scotch and I and I enjoy not so
- 1:08:36great. I don't, I don't, you know, I'm
- 1:08:38not a, I'm not a lush. I don't just buy the cheapest
- 1:08:40thing off the shelf. But, but you know, Clan
- 1:08:45MacGregor is is not top shelf. It is a blended Scotch, black
- 1:08:50Velvet's a blended whiskey. It's you know it, but it gets
- 1:08:54the job done and I enjoy it. You know, I'm I'm, I'm not
- 1:08:56bougie. I don't have to have a a single
- 1:08:58malt every every night. Not sharing with the group.
- 1:09:04Hey, man, you know you, you were invited.
- 1:09:07Let me, let me just let me just let me just say, you know, you
- 1:09:10got the invite to come out here tomorrow and you have, you know,
- 1:09:16you had other obligations, but for everybody that's here that
- 1:09:19that feels like I'm not sharing, here's to you here.
- 1:09:22Drink my transparent glass of whiskey because I have a
- 1:09:27background that's not here We go do this.
- 1:09:29Boom, I'm gone now. Boom, there I am again.
- 1:09:33OK, Skull Schlancha post not as little of you.
- 1:09:40I don't know how many different languages do you know how to say
- 1:09:44cheers or to your health? That was Old Norse.
- 1:09:49That was Gaelic, I think maybe, and it was German and it was
- 1:09:55Russian. I don't know.
- 1:10:00Did anybody else know anything, any other ways to say, you know,
- 1:10:03like cheers or to your health in another language?
- 1:10:10There's there's this term in Japanese that I, that I, that I
- 1:10:13hear people say like when they eat, eat the dakimasu.
- 1:10:15I don't know if that's, if that's something like to your
- 1:10:19health. I don't know what we got here.
- 1:10:25Oh, Swedish. Well, I'm probably going to
- 1:10:27butcher this. I'm going to try my best.
- 1:10:30Oh, Serbian. What the heck?
- 1:10:31I can't read Serbian. Yeah.
- 1:10:36Why is there an umlaut? Is that an?
- 1:10:38What is that? What is that?
- 1:10:39A over the Z Givelli. Givelli, maybe?
- 1:10:45All right, that I am totally guessing Givelli.
- 1:10:50Givelli. I don't know.
- 1:10:52I'm almost sound like it. Givelli, that's Italian too.
- 1:10:56What is it in Italian? Not Bona Petito.
- 1:11:06That's like about to eat, mind ya.
- 1:11:08No, that's that's that's bon appetito.
- 1:11:11Yeah, to to your appetite. But what they they say the God.
- 1:11:16What do they say? I'm sure I should know this.
- 1:11:18I'm like my my grandfather, like bop bop.
- 1:11:21I'm sorry. You know, he he bacigalupo over
- 1:11:24here can't remember how to say basic things in Italian.
- 1:11:27He was he was, he was from Italy.
- 1:11:29Not from Italy, but his parents were from Italy.
- 1:11:31He was born here. The Potenzas, which a Potenza,
- 1:11:36right? That's an Italian name.
- 1:11:38It's also a city in Italy. Oh, OK, I got it right, Chris.
- 1:11:43Cool. Hey, that was I was I was
- 1:11:47totally shooting from the hip on that one, but OK, so in Serbian
- 1:11:53Givelli. Oh, Salut.
- 1:11:59What the hell? Why did that escape me?
- 1:12:01Salut. Yeah, Salut is the Italian.
- 1:12:05There we go. And Chris just read as I said
- 1:12:07it. Yeah.
- 1:12:10Salute to health. Yeah.
- 1:12:18What's up, Nick? Wait a SEC, Bongiorno.
- 1:12:23Why did I read that in Lieutenant Aldo, the Apache's
- 1:12:28voice from Inglourious Basterds when you said that I speak the
- 1:12:34most Italian, Bongiorno. Good to see you, Nick, though.
- 1:12:41Thanks for commenting. Thanks for showing up.
- 1:12:44Kampai, according to to Michael Thacker, is the Japanese phrase
- 1:12:49Itadakimasu is just the saying before eating.
- 1:12:52Oh, you were a huge weeb in high school.
- 1:12:56OK, well, thank you for the education.
- 1:13:01So Kampai, Kampai, Japanese phrase for in in itadakimasu is
- 1:13:10the before you eat. OK, So it's kind of like the
- 1:13:12Italian way of going bon appetito or manja aorta Z manja
- 1:13:17is what they say. And now we eat, you know, bon
- 1:13:22appetito. But yeah, so all of it.
- 1:13:30Cheers to your health to life, Lehayim.
- 1:13:34I think that's maybe Hebrew or Yiddish, I don't know.
- 1:13:41Speaking of Hebrew, you guys see that Spaceballs is coming back
- 1:13:46for a sequel after 40 years. Mel Brooks is supposed to be in
- 1:13:50it. The Schwartz returns, they don't
- 1:13:56call it that. Or the return of the Schwartz,
- 1:13:59they don't call it that. I don't know what I'm going to
- 1:14:02do. I'm still going to watch it, but
- 1:14:03I don't know what I'm going to do.
- 1:14:08You know, I'll be all right. I'm definitely going to watch it
- 1:14:11because and and Rick Moranis, I think is is supposed to be
- 1:14:14coming back for that too. So going to take a quick short
- 1:14:24break, give everybody a chance here to kind of stretch their
- 1:14:31legs. Dude, I can't believe, listen, I
- 1:14:34was it's wild. Matthew, Sarah is here.
- 1:14:38Matthew, what's up, man? I, I was literally just about to
- 1:14:42take a break and I was going to play your song, your music video
- 1:14:48for Varun Natal for the break. Because we've been streaming now
- 1:14:53for an hour and 15 minutes. And it's, you know, about time
- 1:15:00to kind of just get up, stretch our legs, make sure that we're
- 1:15:02not, you know, sitting here vegging out.
- 1:15:08Yeah, saw me on. That's right.
- 1:15:10I'm, I'm, I'm on, as I say, it's on like Donkey Kong here in, in,
- 1:15:15in the, in the thing. So yes, ladies and gentlemen,
- 1:15:19boys and girls, Matthew Serra is actually the composer the, the,
- 1:15:23the mastermind behind this song that you're about to, to hear.
- 1:15:28We collaborated in a very minor in a, in a way, you know, he had
- 1:15:32asked for some visuals to go along with this, to go along
- 1:15:40with this, this song that he wrote.
- 1:15:44Yeah. Mel Brooks is 98.
- 1:15:45Yeah, he'll be he, he would be. I think they're saying that it's
- 1:15:48supposed to be released in like 2 years.
- 1:15:52So hopefully they've already filmed it because he'd, he'd be
- 1:15:55like 102 or, or, or 100 years old or something like that by
- 1:15:58the time it, it, it releases. So yes, how weird indeed.
- 1:16:04Matthew, Sarah, that we're going to play this song when we come
- 1:16:11back. I will catch up on some more
- 1:16:12comments. Thank you all for being here.
- 1:16:14Just take a break. You know, I'm not going
- 1:16:15anywhere. We'll come back and we'll,
- 1:16:16we'll, we, we will revisit some of the comments.
- 1:16:22But again, this song by Matthew Cera is called Runetal there.
- 1:16:28It's going to have some lyrics and stuff on the screen, but I
- 1:16:30think it's a really beautiful song.
- 1:16:32So enjoy. Thank you all for being here.
- 1:16:34We'll be right back after this, so stay tuned.
- 1:17:39The. The.
- 1:19:39The. All right, folks, welcome back.
- 1:20:14Hope you all enjoyed that. I love that song.
- 1:20:16I love the the the composition of it.
- 1:20:19I love what Matthew did with the liar harp, I guess, or if I'm
- 1:20:26Lear liar. So great job Matt, and thank you
- 1:20:32for presenting that to the world and sharing it and hope you all
- 1:20:37enjoyed it. Crushing nihilisms here.
- 1:20:42So shout out to Eyrich and Scott Eyrich Westcote and Scott Shell.
- 1:20:46For those of you who don't know, Eyrich also has the the skaldic
- 1:20:55eagle is, is his online, I guess moniker or what he goes by.
- 1:21:00So the skaldic eagle, Irick Westcote.
- 1:21:04I've had him on the show before last season and I've had Scott
- 1:21:08on the show a couple of times. They were actually on an episode
- 1:21:11with me together when I had when I had Irick on.
- 1:21:16I, I got Scott on too as well. And they're both amazing
- 1:21:21gentlemen, very knowledgeable rune masters of their own,
- 1:21:28masters of the rune Guild. Or at least I know Scott is.
- 1:21:32I don't want to speak out of turn.
- 1:21:33I think Irick is a is a master of the rune Guild.
- 1:21:37If he's not, it would surprise me.
- 1:21:39But anyway, check him out. The skull, the eagle skull
- 1:21:41theeagle.com. He's on like on Instagram, maybe
- 1:21:43Facebook and maybe YouTube. Yeah, pretty sure he's on all
- 1:21:47three. And then Scott has a YouTube
- 1:21:51channel. But if you just go on YouTube
- 1:21:52and and search for Scott Shell, he has a YouTube channel.
- 1:21:56It's a bit the name of it is something to do with Dramatic
- 1:21:59Heathenry. But yeah, very knowledgeable.
- 1:22:06So check them out. Michael Thacker once again.
- 1:22:10Hello Sir says got a drop out of here.
- 1:22:13That's OK. Got to be at work at 4:00
- 1:22:15tomorrow. Take care of yourself, Michael.
- 1:22:17Remember, make time for yourself and be safe out there with all
- 1:22:22the sodas. Hope you enjoyed the song.
- 1:22:30All right, brother Adam, great to see you.
- 1:22:33Thank you. I appreciate the support.
- 1:22:35Just keep up the great work. I'm doing my best, Sir, and you
- 1:22:39do as well, you know? I know what you do.
- 1:22:43I'm proud of you. Keep it up, Christopher.
- 1:22:48Miller Yes, wonderful work. Indeed.
- 1:22:51Glad you all enjoyed it. Yeah, you're welcome.
- 1:22:57Matt, thank. You, I'm glad you enjoyed the
- 1:23:02the atmosphere of the art, he said.
- 1:23:04Love, love the atmosphere that you created with the art.
- 1:23:07We tried to, you know, Matthew was looking for something that
- 1:23:10kind of represented the World Tree IGRA seal.
- 1:23:14And, you know, we had tossed around a couple ideas and we,
- 1:23:17we, we kind of landed on, or he did land on something.
- 1:23:21Nothing too elaborate, nothing too, you know, crazy simple, but
- 1:23:29sometimes simple is best. So just the atmosphere that that
- 1:23:33that, you know, kind of misty cosmic tree kind of put you in a
- 1:23:40in a mindset, you know, and that that's like an interesting kind
- 1:23:45of. Touch to.
- 1:23:46One of the things that we talked earlier about before when when
- 1:23:49the stream was, was just starting out talking about
- 1:23:53ritual and approaching ritual in the right mindset.
- 1:24:00You know, music is a great way to help achieve a a healthy
- 1:24:10altered state of consciousness. You know, rhythm and and sound
- 1:24:14are are definitely tools that can be imparted to change your,
- 1:24:22you know, perception of profane space.
- 1:24:24You can, you can almost be entranced or not almost.
- 1:24:27You can you become entranced through sound and through
- 1:24:32rhythm. You know, This is why so many
- 1:24:35cultures that that have the shamanic practices amongst it
- 1:24:39have the implementation the use of the drum, certain other, you
- 1:24:46know, cultures that that that you implement that that singing,
- 1:24:49you know, throat singing and then certain tones, you know, it
- 1:24:53certain hurts are are are attained through through that.
- 1:24:58Sound and and then that. That allows for the.
- 1:25:04For the mind to. To sort of I wanna say like
- 1:25:07disconnect from. From what?
- 1:25:09From itself, but but to. Be but to again be transported
- 1:25:11or or transferred into that ritual state of mind.
- 1:25:14You know what I mean? To kind of be very present in in
- 1:25:24in the ritual. State.
- 1:25:26And so like for, for I was when I was talking earlier about when
- 1:25:29people come to ritual and they're inebriated, they, they,
- 1:25:32they went too far, You know, they got lost in the sauce.
- 1:25:34They, they went hard in the paint, as the saying goes, You
- 1:25:39know, that that abuse of, of, of substances, you know, can, can
- 1:25:43really ruin things. And it's, it's not, it's not
- 1:25:48nice to witness. It's.
- 1:25:49Not good to be around. It tarnishes the the space so.
- 1:25:59I love it when. You know, we have people that
- 1:26:01are, are creators themselves, whether you know, it's artisans,
- 1:26:05craftspeople, you know, Matthew with his with his music and that
- 1:26:10talent, you know, that is that is a craft and crafting that
- 1:26:15that art and, and sharing it with the world.
- 1:26:18This is a really healthy and good way to help people, you
- 1:26:25know, get into that. State of mind it's, you know.
- 1:26:27Meditation, relaxation, you know, Michael, if you catch this
- 1:26:32afterwards or or later or some other time, you know, you talked
- 1:26:36earlier about how smoking a cigar is, is like kind of your,
- 1:26:39your downtime. You're, you're winding down,
- 1:26:41you're smoking a cigar and that gives you moments to contemplate
- 1:26:44and to think and, and to just be present with yourself.
- 1:26:47You know, some good music is another great way, you know,
- 1:26:50like preaching to the choir, I'm sure.
- 1:26:53But it's don't forget it. You know, some of that.
- 1:26:55Sometimes the simple things are are what we forget.
- 1:27:00You know, we forget what it's like to to engage with the
- 1:27:04things that gave us joy and gave us fulfillment when we were
- 1:27:09children, even, you know, the things that made us happy, the
- 1:27:12things that gave us joy, the way we played.
- 1:27:15You know, I was I was talking to this fella.
- 1:27:22I know we're just kind of like online friends or whatever
- 1:27:27acquaintances. And you know, he sent me this
- 1:27:30picture of these two Bobcats. It was, it was like, I guess a
- 1:27:35mother in in her, in her cub. And they were like standing up
- 1:27:39on it was it was obviously, you know, an in motion kind of
- 1:27:43photograph. You know, they were, they were
- 1:27:45kind of standing up on their hind paws with their other, with
- 1:27:50their front paws kind of up and over them facing each other.
- 1:27:54And it almost looked like they were dancing, you know, like
- 1:27:56they were in this sort of freeze frame movement of dance.
- 1:28:02But it looked like the, you know, you could say that or you
- 1:28:05or you. I, I, I took it as they were
- 1:28:07playing. You know, there was, there was
- 1:28:09play happening that was captured there.
- 1:28:13And I thought, man, what a great reminder for all of us to to see
- 1:28:18something like that and to and to go.
- 1:28:19And when was the last time we played?
- 1:28:22You know, it's 'cause as we grow older and as we mature, games
- 1:28:28and play is something that sometimes gets forgotten about
- 1:28:32and it gets pushed aside and it gets pushed back, you know, And
- 1:28:36this particular fellow, when he sent me and I said that thing
- 1:28:38about play, he said, you know, I, I don't even know how to
- 1:28:41play. And I said, yeah, you do.
- 1:28:43Maybe he didn't say that exactly.
- 1:28:45He said, but I've forgotten, you know, I've, I've, I've gotten in
- 1:28:51the, the way that I've grown and the way that I've matured in
- 1:28:54this and that, you know, it's, it was almost like he was saying
- 1:28:57he had forgotten how to play and I.
- 1:29:02Thought man, it's Denu, you know, like it's, it's there.
- 1:29:04You just have to reconnect with that.
- 1:29:09That inner. Child that, that, that
- 1:29:10playfulness and how good is that to be reminded of?
- 1:29:15We learned so much as children during play, you know, we
- 1:29:19learned how to respond to to situations.
- 1:29:23We learned, you know, skills, you know, we, we, we learned.
- 1:29:28But but at the and then other times it was just the the
- 1:29:33carefree moment to not be responsible for anything
- 1:29:39important, you know, and. Then how much of even?
- 1:29:41That as we grow older and as we become adults and as we, you
- 1:29:44know, establish our lives with, with whether it's ourselves,
- 1:29:47with our, our, you know, our loved ones, our families, our,
- 1:29:50our, our relationships with people, we become so.
- 1:29:58Wrapped up in the hustle. In the grind, you know,
- 1:30:02sometimes we just need to play. Sometimes we need that carefree
- 1:30:06moment to just be playful. I've been guilty of getting kind
- 1:30:12of like agitated, you know, at times when like my wife wants to
- 1:30:17poke fun or play or, you know, whatever.
- 1:30:19And it's like, stop annoying me. Quit, you know, and I'm like,
- 1:30:25well, this is, this is play, you know, like, look, that's let's,
- 1:30:30let's, let's rethink this. Like, like, let's, why, why am I
- 1:30:32so annoyed at this playfulness? Stop.
- 1:30:36Stop being so serious. So yeah, maybe, folks.
- 1:30:41That's that's another thing to take away as as we've been.
- 1:30:43Talking tonight about taking care of ourselves, making time
- 1:30:48for ourselves, don't forget that one of the things that is good
- 1:30:54for us to do in our adulthood is to find the sense of play in our
- 1:31:02lives and to be playful, not to be, you know, complacent and
- 1:31:09then forget about our responsibilities and, and
- 1:31:12become, you know, again. It's it's a balance.
- 1:31:21But that's just it. You have to balance it it.
- 1:31:23Has to be there in order for you to balance it, you know?
- 1:31:30And don't worry about the way. You look or how it.
- 1:31:32You know, oh, this. Is silly.
- 1:31:34This is ridiculous. No.
- 1:31:35Why is it ridiculous? Why is it so?
- 1:31:37So what if it's silly? So what if it's ridiculous?
- 1:31:38Is it hurting anybody? Is it making you feel good?
- 1:31:40Is it, you know, making you laugh?
- 1:31:41Smile. Those are good things for
- 1:31:44ourselves to experience. This is it.
- 1:31:46It's kind of like medicine in a way.
- 1:31:49You know, there's that old saying like laughter is the best
- 1:31:53medicine. Well, it's the saying is because
- 1:31:56it's true. All right.
- 1:32:00When, when you're, when you're laughing, you're, you're in a
- 1:32:02good mood, right. It's it makes you feel good.
- 1:32:04So I don't know, just go play, go outside, dance, find
- 1:32:15something for you to to be lighthearted about.
- 1:32:17So, but yeah. I think that that.
- 1:32:22Pretty well, yeah. That is the spice of life,
- 1:32:26right? Matthew, Variety is the spice of
- 1:32:30life. You know, if I can go to the
- 1:32:30store and pick up a variety of pack a variety pack of something
- 1:32:35up instead of just the, the the, you know, sometimes I want the
- 1:32:39one thing, but really I want. I want some choices, you know?
- 1:32:44What I mean, so yeah, be playful.
- 1:32:48Variety is the spice of life. Yeah.
- 1:32:51And. And like, you know, you say, you
- 1:32:52know, they do it while you can, you know, one day, you know,
- 1:32:56things are going to slow down. We're saying I'm seeing it first
- 1:32:59hand. And I've and I've experienced it
- 1:33:01not really directly with my own mom and dad, but I'm I'm seeing
- 1:33:09the natural progression. Of our lifespan.
- 1:33:15With, with people around me, you know, I, I can't do half the
- 1:33:19things that I used to be able to do in the way that I used to be
- 1:33:22able to do them when I was a kid, You know, you know, I'm and
- 1:33:27I just turned 40 and I'm sure that I won't be able to do the
- 1:33:30things that I can do now when I'm, you know, 60 or whatever.
- 1:33:40Make it that far, however long. But like you say, you know, live
- 1:33:44in the moment. Do it, do it while you can
- 1:33:49because you know, you live long enough and one day you won't be
- 1:33:52able to those, those functions won't the functions won't
- 1:33:58function, you know, but so I think that's what we'll wrap it
- 1:34:05up on. Don't have any underlying
- 1:34:07comments anymore. So I do appreciate everybody
- 1:34:10being here. Those of you that have stuck
- 1:34:13around for the last, you know, hour and hour and a half a
- 1:34:15little bit over this is really nice.
- 1:34:18Good way to connect with people. I hope you've all had a good
- 1:34:21night and yeah, just as a last thing, you know, if you need to
- 1:34:25go. Back and and look through the.
- 1:34:26Comments or just go to my link tree link that the link tree
- 1:34:29link has my mother-in-law GoFundMe posted at the very top.
- 1:34:34So when you go to my link tree link the very first thing that
- 1:34:37you'll see at the top is is the GoFundMe for my mother-in-law.
- 1:34:41It's to raise money so that way the expenses for getting all of
- 1:34:45her medical equipment and and enhancements to her living, you
- 1:34:50know, the, the wheelchair ramp, the the the Hoyer lift, the the
- 1:34:55medical chair, this the sit to stand chair.
- 1:34:59You know, all the things that the family is coming together to
- 1:35:01get to be able to recover financially from that.
- 1:35:04And if you want to help, it's it's in that GoFundMe.
- 1:35:07So just just for everybody's awareness of you, if you didn't
- 1:35:10know about that, there it is. And at the very least shared
- 1:35:15around, you know, as always. You know you don't have to feel.
- 1:35:17Obligated people have got a lot of other things going on in
- 1:35:21their lives, but I did want to make sure that I was mentioning
- 1:35:25it here on on my platform with with all of you to give it the
- 1:35:31most visibility. And we've we've gotten several
- 1:35:33donations from a lot of people very generous to to help out
- 1:35:38with that. So if again, if you've done that
- 1:35:41already, thank you very much for your for your generosity.
- 1:35:44The family appreciates it. I appreciate it and I appreciate
- 1:35:48all of you. I appreciate everybody coming in

- 1:36:03and, and stuff that came across the screen.
- 1:36:04Michael Thacker, David Klen, crushing nihilism.
- 1:36:09Nick Daniel, Chris Miller, Some new faces.
- 1:36:14Or some new? Names that have just kind of
- 1:36:17joined the the Midgard Musings community.
- 1:36:20I think we got, we got Christie, you know, we got what was it?

- 1:36:43tonight. I thank all of you for being
- 1:36:45here and for showing your support.
- 1:36:47And just again reminder, these are monthly.
- 1:36:49We we do these things once a month, so just follow me on my
- 1:36:53social media so that way you know, you know when I'm doing
- 1:36:55it. I usually try to announce the
- 1:36:57events a week or two at least in advance.
- 1:37:01That way you can plan accordingly if you want to be
- 1:37:03here and hear what we're talking about.
- 1:37:06But the nice thing about it is that if you don't make it for.
- 1:37:08The live stream. This will go up on the next
- 1:37:11random Ethan Ramblings podcast, so you'll be able to re watch it
- 1:37:14there on Patreon if you join it at the Carl tier for a dollar or
- 1:37:18you can listen on Spotify. So that's all I'm going to talk
- 1:37:21about right now. That's that's repeating a lot of
- 1:37:23everything that I've already said.
- 1:37:25But thank you all for being here tonight.
- 1:37:27Appreciate all of your support. I had fun.
- 1:37:32Be safe out here, folks. The world's a crazy place.
