And we are so glad that you are here. Dwell Well is going to be a weekly show where we share all things marriage, family, faith, parenting, and just about everything in between. if you've been following along with House and Home, then you might be used to seeing some curated spaces over on social media. Skye: If you've been following along with House and Home, then you might be used to seeing some curated spaces over on social media. However, we wanted to take an opportunity to kind of peel back the curtain and share the messy middle with you. Chad: However, we wanted to take an opportunity to peel back the curtain and share the messy middle with you. We'll also talk about our daily rhythms and what it really means to dwell well as we jump into faith, family, and everything else. Skye: We'll also talk about our daily rhythms and what it really means to dwell well as we jump into faith, family, and everything else. We thought that we would start every episode with something called porch talk. So one of our favorite things to do at the end of the long day is to kind of sit out on our porch swing together and just debrief from the day while the kids are out riding bikes, playing soccer, and we just get that little moment of connection that we really look forward to. Chad: We thought that we would start every episode with something called porch talk. So one of our favorite things to do at the end of the long day is to kind of sit out on our porch swing together and just debrief from the day while the kids are out riding bikes, playing soccer, and we just get that little moment of connection that we really look forward to. Skye: And so we kind of wanted to Chad: And so we wanted to welcome you into that once a week with us. And this is gonna be a time where we're gonna share like one highlight from our week, something that we're grateful for that happened during the week. And then we're gonna share something that kind of challenged us or maybe helped us grow and encouraged us in our walk with Skye: Welcome you into that once a week with us. And this is gonna be a time where we're gonna share like one highlight from our week, something that we're grateful for that happened during the week, and then we're gonna share something that kind of challenged us or maybe helped us grow and encouraged us in our walk with maybe the Lord or in our marriage or in parenting or Chad: maybe the Lord or in our marriage or in parenting or in whatever it might be. So we wanted to kind of start that off today. So Chad, why don't you kick us off with your good thing from the week? Skye: in whatever it might be. So we wanted to start that off today. So Chad, why don't you kick us off with your good thing from the week? Chad: Yeah, so a highlight for me this week that I'm really excited about is I feel like we've entered a brand new season of life i in some ways, with our oldest. So he celebrated a birthday recently, we're like preteen, and it hit me the the morning of his birthday when he was opening up his birthday presents that like we've entered a completely new era. We he hit all of his presents this year were like technology, they were hobby focused versus Skye: Yeah, so a highlight for me this week that I'm really excited about is I feel like we've entered a brand new season of life i in some ways, with our oldest. So he celebrated a birthday recently, we're like preteen, and it hit me the the morning of his birthday when he was opening up his birthday presents, that like we've entered a completely new era. We he hit all of his presents this year were like technology, they were hobby focused versus historically as kids they they're very much toys and you know things like that. and not a single present he got this year was was really a toy. they were all kind of hobby focused. And so, you know, he got a new camera to to you know take up photography. Chad: historically as kids they they're very much toys and you know the things like that. and not a single present he got this year was was really a toy. they were all kind of hobby focused. And so you know he got a new camera to to you know take up photography. he wanted an old school iPod so he could listen to music. Skye: he wanted like an old school iPod so he could listen to music. Chad: and then he he also got a a new computer that he uses a little bit for school. or it is for school only, but but I I felt like that was just a brand new season for us. and for me, that was like something that was really exciting and you know, a a highlight that just to continue to see the kids grow, enter new seasons, pick up new hobbies, and just like learn. It's been really fun and exciting. so I would say that's my Skye: and then he he also got a a new computer that he uses a a little bit for school. or it is for school only, but but I I felt like that was just a brand new season for us. and for me that was like something that was really exciting and you know, a a highlight that just to continue to see the kids grow, enter new seasons, pick up new hobbies, and just like learn. It's been really fun and exciting. so I would say that's my good thing for for this week. What about you? Chad: good thing for for this week. What about you? Yeah, Skye: Yeah, I love that so much. I'll piggyback Chad: I love that so much. I'll piggy p Skye: off of that, but I do have a separate good thing that I want to share. But it has been such a sweet season with our oldest. He turned twelve, so just getting to see him really grow into a young man is absolutely delightful as a parent. It's so, so fun. he's officially Chad: share but it has been such a sweet season with our oldest. He turned twelve so just getting to him really grow into a young man is absolutely delightful as a parent. It is so so fun. he's officially two Skye: Two inches shorter than me. He would like to argue that the curl in his hair maybe gives him the extra two inches, but Chad: inches shorter than me. He would like to argue that the curl in his hair maybe gives him the extra two inches but Skye: it's just it's wild how quickly he's growing. We took a little celebratory weekend to Karen's and Chad: It's just it's wild how quickly he's growing. We took a little celebratory weekend to Karen's and Skye: we did some roller coasters, and by we I mean mostly you and him and our other two kids because I'm recovering from shoulder surgery. Chad: We did some roller coasters, and by we mostly you and him and our other two kids because I'm recovering from shoulder surgery. I did do a little small ride, but it was so much fun, and he was so incredibly brave that it like truly encouraged me to like, hey, I need to step out of my comfort zone a little bit here. He rode the tallest roller coaster at Carowins, and then one of the tallest roller coasters in the Skye: I did do a little small ride, but it was so much fun. And he was so incredibly brave that it like truly encouraged me to like, hey, I need to step out of my comfort zone a little bit here. He rode the tallest roller coaster at Carowins and then one of the tallest roller coasters in the Chad: The world. It's like top. I don't know. Four or five, yeah. I know. I think five. Skye: world. It's like top, I don't remember five, yeah. Unreal. Chad: so I was really proud of him. I agree. I I I didn't put that. Skye: I was really proud of him. I agree. I I I didn't put that Chad: Or I didn't answer with that, but but I think that's another thing, like you said, really seeing him Skye: or I didn't answer with that, but but I think that's another thing, like you said, like really seeing him Chad: kind of grow and mature, but also like gain courage and and challenge himself is probably that's been one of the most rewarding things, not of this week, but but of this year, and in my opinion is seeing him challenge himself with school sports and you know, going into a new school, all the different things that he's done this year. I feel like that's that has been super rewarding this year. Skye: grow and mature but also like gain courage and and challenge himself is probably that's been one of the most rewarding things not of this week but but of this year and in my opinion is seeing him challenge himself with school sports and you know going into a new school and all the different things that he's done this year. I feel like that's that has been super rewarding this year. Absolutely. Chad: What was your other good thing from this week? Well, this week I wrapped up a huge project that I have been Skye: What was your other good thing from this week? Well, this week I wrapped up a huge project that I have been working on and I have not shared about it yet, but it's been taking up a big, big portion of our life for quite some time now. I just turned in the final edits for my very first book. So we will have a house and home book. Chad: shared about it yet, but it's been taking up a big big portion of our life for quite some time now. I just turned in the final edits for my very first book. So we will have a house and home book Skye: coming Chad: coming Skye: out later on this year, hopefully sooner rather than later, probably end of fall, early winter, and we could not be more excited to see this Chad: out later on this year. Hopefully sooner rather than later, probably end of fall, early winter, and we could not be more excited to see this. Skye: come to fruition. It's so exciting. a lot of work has been put into it and it's just really neat to see it coming to the final stages. So it's gonna be called Dwell Here, a thoughtful guide to creating a home you'll love and in the book it is Chad: to fruition. It's so exciting. a lot of work has been put into it and it's just really neat to see it coming to the final stages. So it's gonna be called Dwell Here, a thoughtful guide to creating a home you'll love and in the book it is Skye: Going to cover all things home from making paint selections to how to mix old and new things, bring antiques into your home, how to thoughtfully and intentionally shop for your home, seasonal decorating tips, and so much more. It's going to be a faith-based Chad: Going to cover all things home from making paint selections to how to mix old and new things, bring antiques into your home, how to thoughtfully and intentionally shop for your home, seasonal decorating tips, and so much more. It's going to be a faith-based Skye: coffee table style interior decor book, and we're so excited. So Chad: Coffee table style interior decor book and we're so excited. So we are so excited. And along the same lines of of being excited for our son and and seeing him challenge himself, this has been a really big season for you and stepping outside of your comfort zone, but but challenging yourself and working so hard. When I tell you guys that she has been working hard, I I I ca I can't do it justice with words. between all of her duties as a a wife and mother. Skye: We are so excited and along the same lines of of being excited for our son and and seeing him challenge himself, this has been a really big season for you and stepping outside of your comfort zone, but but challenging yourself and working so hard. When I tell you guys that she has been working hard, like I I I c I can't do it justice with words. between all of her duties as a a wife and mother. Chad: and taking care of our home and doing everything. But the amount of work that she's put into this book and into this podcast and all the projects that she's got going is is incredible. And so, you know, I'm really looking forward to getting that book out, sharing it with the world so everyone can kind of see all of the hard work that you put in there. again, it's it's beautifully written, beautiful imagery, you know, pictures in there. we had an amazing photographer and and obviously all the the work that you did to get ready for that. it's it's gonna be really exciting. I can't wait. Skye: and taking care of our home and doing everything. But the amount of work that she's put into this book and into this podcast and all the projects that she's got going, is is incredible. And so, you know, I'm really looking forward to getting that book out, sharing it with the world so everyone can kind of see all the hard work that you put in there. again, it's it's beautifully written, beautiful imagery, you know, pictures in there. we had an amazing photographer and and obviously all the the work that you did to get ready for that. it's it's gonna be really exciting. I can't wait. I love you. Love you. And what Chad: Yeah. Skye: about something that challenged you or helped you grow this week? That's a good question. We are doing it. So I mean, I I think we we all have challenges every week, but this is a unique one for me because I'm generally on that side of the camera. and so I help with you know photography and recording videos sometimes. Not a lot, you do a lot of it kind of on your own while I'm working, but Chad: You or helped you week? That's a good question. We are doing it. so I mean I think we we all have challenges every week, but this is a a unique one for me because I'm generally on that side of the camera. and so so I help with you know photography and recording videos sometimes. Not a lot, you do a lot of it kind of on your own while I'm working, but I'm generally on the other side of the camera. And so Skye: I'm generally on the other side of the camera. And so Chad: this is this is new to me, right? And so I feel like this is a new and unique challenge and something that I'm going to have to continue to get better at. So give me some grace, guys. I I I do f use a lot of filler words with and those sort of things. That's something I have to break. But but yeah, this is a a unique challenge, but something I'm really looking forward to to doing with you. Skye: this is this is new to me, right? And so I feel like this is a new and unique challenge and something that I'm going to have to continue to get better at. So give me some grace, guys. I I I do use a lot of filler words with and those sort of things. That's something I have to break. But but yeah, this is a a unique challenge, but something I'm really looking forward to to doing with you. Chad: and I feel that this will be really good to to share the again, the good, the bad, the ugly, right? Everything in between. Like it takes a lot of effort and a lot of intentionality, to build a life that that is, you know, the life that you want and a life that that is good for your spouse and for your kids and and honors God and all that Skye: and I feel that this will be really good to to share again, the good, the bad, the ugly, right? Everything in between. Like it takes a lot of effort and a lot of intentionality, to build a life that that is, you know, the life that you want and a life that that is good for your spouse and for your kids and and honors God and all that Chad: Yeah. Skye: Yeah, I'm really excited about it and I'm proud of you too because not only are you learning how to be in front of the camera, but you've also had to learn a whole lot of the behind the scenes Chad: too because not only are you learning how to be in front of the camera but you've also had to learn a whole lot of the behind the scenes how do you hook up the mics to the monitor to the Skye: How do you hook up the mics to the monitor to the Chad: I don't even know the camera all the all of the behind the scenes things you have figured out on your own we are doing this in our home and Skye: I don't even know, the camera, all the all of the behind the scenes things you have figured out on your own. We are doing this in our home and so it has definitely been a challenge, but in a good way. I think that it's something that has helped to grow you and your abilities and, you know, all the tech things and all of that, which you enjoy. I do. Yeah, it was fun. It was fun doing the research to figure out again. I Chad: So it has definitely been a challenge but in a good way. I think that it's something that has helped to grow you and your abilities and, all the tech things and all of that. Which you enjoy. I do. Yeah, it was fun. It was fun doing the research to figure out again. I Skye: this isn't my area of expertise, not what I do professionally, that's for sure. Chad: This isn't my area of expertise, not what I do professionally, that's for sure. And so looking at kind of all of the potential options out there, narrowing it down to what specific mics are we going to use? What specific, you know, solutions will we have to to kind of pull all this together so that the audio works, video works, we can edit it appropriately, you know, all that kind of information was was new to me and and you know to to as well for a lot of it because you've Skye: And so looking at kind of all of the potential options out there, narrowing it down to what specific mics are we going to use, what specific, you know, solutions will we have to to kind of pull all this together, so that the audio works, video works, we can edit it appropriately, you know, all that kind of information was was new to me and and you know to to you as well for a lot of it because you've done just YouTube and and Instagram and those for for a long time. It's a completely different kind of process. So Yeah. Chad: done just YouTube and and Instagram and those for for a long time. It's a completely different kind of process. So yeah. Skye: Something that challenged me this week, I think, was trying to meet and reach deadlines that really just did not have any wiggle room while also trying to juggle all of the things home, sports, making sure that we had something to eat and we Chad: Something that challenged me this week, I think, was trying to meet and reach deadlines that really just did not have any wiggle room while also trying to juggle all of the things. Home, sports, making sure that we had something to eat and we Skye: ate out more often than we would generally do and just trying to figure out, okay. Chad: ate out more often than we would generally do and just trying to figure out okay I need to pause, we need to figure out some balance here and look at what's coming up next and just kind of be a little bit better of a planner on my end. so I am feeling a little frazzled but I also feel like I did like I've gotten my I met the deadlines Skye: I need to pause. We need to figure out some balance here and look at what's coming up next and just kind of be a little bit better of a planner on my end. so I am feeling a little frazzled, but I also feel like I did like I've gotten my I met the deadlines. We haven't missed soccer practice or school. Like we're getting the the big things, the major things are getting handled and Chad: We haven't missed soccer practice or school. we're getting the the big things, the major things are getting handled and if we're eating a few day old leftovers or what what have you, it's okay. We're we're making it. Absolutely. Yeah, I think I couldn't agree with you more. The the im we the important things we we've made sure we hit and we've made time for, and and again that's part of what you were talking about earlier, like that messy middle, like Skye: if we're eating a few day old leftovers or what what have you, it's okay. We're we're making it. Absolutely. Yeah, I think I couldn't agree with you more. The the the important things we we've made sure we hit and we've made time for, and and again that's part of what you were talking about earlier, like that messy middle, like we're in a season right now, specifically as you're wrapping up your book and and doing some of these other things where it's like we have less time to to do something. Something has to give, right? And that's something that Chad: We're in a season right now, specifically as you're wrapping up your book and and doing some of these other things where it's like we have less time to to do something. Something has to give, right? And and so that's something that that I think I think we need to share is like that compromise and and where do you where do you give, what gives, what doesn't, where do have to stand firm? and so this has definitely been a season where some things have had to give and and and some things that we would prefer to do better, right? Or differently we're not able to. Skye: That I think I think we need to share is like that compromise and and where do you where do you give, what gives, what doesn't, where do you have to stand firm? and so this has definitely been a season where some things have had to give and and and some things that we would prefer to do better, right? Or differently. We're not able to, but it's the season that we're in and we're making sure that the the main things, the important things, are getting the time and attention they need. Chad: But it's the season that we're in and we're making sure that the the main things, the important things, are getting the time and attention they need. Skye: Absolutely. Chad: So today we thought we would spend a little bit of time just kind of talking about the house and home origin story. Because I'm sure that many of you are coming over from our social accounts, but there's probably some of you that have never heard of us before. And Skye: So today we thought we would spend a little bit of time just talking about the house and home origin story because I'm sure that many of you are coming over from our social accounts, but there's probably some of you that have never heard of us before. And we thought we'd share just a little bit. So we're gonna keep kind of the backstory Chad and I and how we met and all of that for another episode, and we'll dive in more to just Chad: We thought we'd shared just a little bit. So we're gonna keep the backstory of Chad and I and how we met and all of that for another episode and we'll dive in more to just the details of like our relationship and our family and our kids and all of that good stuff. But I'll give you like the quick sixty second spiel because I think that it helps as we are talking about house and home. So Skye: the details of our relationship and our family and our kids and all of that good stuff. But I'll give you like the quick 60 second spiel because I think that it helps as we are talking about house and home. So Chad: We are middle school sweethearts. We started dating in eighth grade and we have been together ever since Skye: we are middle school sweethearts. We started dating in eighth grade and we have been together ever since When we were in eighth grade on Valentine's Day, Chad: When we were in eighth grade on Valentine's Day. Skye: Chad actually had me called up to the office, which was my very, very worst nightmare at school. I was the quietest little introvert and I never got in trouble and Chad: Chad actually had me called up to the office, which was my very, very worst nightmare at school. I was the quietest little introvert, and I never got in trouble, and I was so nervous to go to the office, and he was in there with these dyed bright purple, blue, pink, yellow carnations, and a huge smiley face. Skye: I was so nervous to go to the office and he was in there with these dyed bright purple, blue, pink, yellow carnations, and a huge smiley face balloon and a card that said, Sky, I love you, will you be my girlfriend? Chad: balloon and a card that said, Sky, I love you, will you be my girlfriend? Skye: And he's got game. Yes. All of you men out there, if you're if you're you know pursuing someone, definitely dyed carnations and smiley face balloons. Chad: And He's got game. What can I say? Yeah. All of you men out there, if you're if you're, you know, pursuing someone, definitely dyed carnations and smiley face balloons. It worked in eighth grade. I'm sure it probably will work for twenty year old, thirty year old. I I assume it's fine, right? Yeah. Women will love that. Yeah. Okay. I Skye: It worked in eighth grade. I'm sure it probably will work for twenty-year-old, thirty year old. I I assume it's fine, right? Yeah. Women love that. Yeah. That I would Chad: would not do that. But see if you're in eighth grade. Okay. It was very sweet. And Skye: not do that, but maybe if you're in eighth grade. It was very sweet. And we just knew in high Chad: New in high school. Skye: school that we were going to get married. And so we went through high school and then we ended up getting engaged shortly after high school, getting married at twenty, and three Chad: So we went through high school and then we ended up getting engaged shortly after high school, getting married at 20, and we had three beautiful children. And so we have a 12-year-old, a 10-year-old, and an eight-year-old as of right now. And they are absolutely wonderful and we love being parents. but when our two boys, which are our oldest, Skye: beautiful children. And so we have a 12-year-old, a 10-year-old, and an eight-year-old as of right now. And they are absolutely wonderful and we love being parents. but when our two boys, which are our oldest, when they were really little, toddler age, we were kind of just in a season where Chad was traveling a lot for work. Chad: When they were really little, toddler age, we were kind of just in a season where Chad was traveling a lot for work. We had moved to North Carolina away from all of our family when our oldest was three months old. And so we were living in a town that we just we only had just a very small select couple of friends. It was Skye: We had moved to North Carolina away from all of our family when our oldest was three months old. And so we were living in a town that we just we only had just a very small select couple of friends. It was kind of isolating because, you know, Chad would have to leave for work and I would be at home with the kids. And when they would go down for their nap time, I just felt like I really wish that I had a creative outlet. Chad: isolating because Chad would have to leave for work and I would be at home with the kids and when they would go down for their nap time I just felt like I really wish that I had a creative outlet and I'm not super creative in the like artist sense. I'm not a drawer, I don't sing, I am not crafty. However I just Skye: And I'm not super creative in the like artist sense. I'm not a drawer. I don't sing. I am not crafty. However, I just felt like there was something that I could be doing with my time while they were napping. And Chad: felt like there was something that I could be doing with my time while they were napping and Skye: something other than of course, you know, taking care of the house and all of that good stuff. Chad: Something other than of course, you know, taking care of the house and all of that good stuff. And so we were in kind of a season of praying, like, Lord, what what would that look like? You know, what give us some ideas, you know, what might be something that this guy could be doing. And he gave me a vision that was so clear one day, funny enough, while the kids were napping, and he just told me this is exactly what Skye: And so we were in a season of praying, Lord, what what would that look like? what give us some ideas, what might be something that Sky could be doing. And he gave me a vision that was so clear one day, funny enough, while the kids were napping, and he just told me, This is exactly what Chad: I have envisioned for you. It is an Skye: I have envisioned for you. It is a Chad: e-commerce business that is named House and Home. And this is exactly what the website's going to look like. This is what your logo will look like. These are the things you will sell. And it was just clear as day. I had never experienced anything like that before. Skye: E-commerce business that is named House and Home. And this is exactly what the website's going to look like. This is what your logo will look like. These are the things you will sell. And it was just clear as day. I had never experienced anything like that before. And it caught me off guard a little bit, so much so that I immediately started writing things down because I was like, I do not want to forget this because I want to tell Chad when he gets home from work. Chad: And it caught me off guard a little bit, so much so that I immediately started writing things down because I was like, I do not want to forget this because I wanna tell Chad when he gets home from work. And so I shared it with Chad and Skye: And so I shared it with Chad and we'll get into this of course in future episodes. But Chad is very entrepreneurial at heart. He has business background and he loves startups and all things business. And so I brought the idea up to him and he immediately was like, Let's do it. Chad: We'll get into this of course in future episodes, but Chad is very entrepreneurial at heart. He has business background and he loves startups and all things business. And so I brought the idea up to him and he immediately was like, Let's do it. say less. And so we started Skye: say less. And so we started Chad: researching, building out websites and vendors Skye: researching, building out websites and vendors that we could buy product from and somebody that could help us with our logo package and everything. And it just took off. We just were like, we're gonna put our hearts and our minds to this. We're gonna do it. And we did it. And so we built house and home back in twenty nineteen. Chad: That we could buy product from and somebody that could help us with our logo package and everything, and it just took off. We just were like, we're gonna put our hearts and our minds to this, we're gonna do it, and we did it. And so we built House and Home back in 2019, Skye: And it has honestly been a whirlwind ever since. So we ran the business as an e-commerce shop for several Chad: and it has honestly been a whirlwind ever since. Yep. So we ran the business as an e-commerce shop for seven. Several years and a little while in, I had a sweet friend of mine, a neighbor, you may actually know her, Jessica O'Donnahue, over on YouTube, also known as The Bunkies. Her and her husband Brian have Skye: years. And a little while in I had a sweet friend of mine, a neighbor, you may actually know her, Jessica O'Donnahue, over on YouTube, also known as The Bunkies, her and her husband Brian have. Chad: a really great lifestyle YouTube channel, and she was literally our our across the street neighbor, and she'd been at that time doing more kind of like fashion, makeup, beauty. Skye: a really great lifestyle YouTube channel and she was literally our n our across the street neighbor and she'd been at that time doing more kind of like fashion makeup beauty vlogging and she was encouraging me to start a YouTube channel to share the products that we were selling in our shop and share how I was styling them in our home because I was kind of doing a mini version of that over on Instagram. Chad: vlogging, and she was encouraging me to start a YouTube channel to share the products that we were selling in our shop and share how I was styling them in our home because I was kind of doing a mini version of that over on Instagram, and she was like, Trust me, like this is the time to do it. You you can do it, and I was like, my goodness, have you met me? I am not sitting in front of a camera, it just was not. Skye: And she was like, trust me, this is the time to do it. You you can do it. And I was like, my goodness, have you met me? I am not sitting in front of a camera. It just was not something that I ever thought I would do. And so I really stretched and grew in that season. it took me a little while to finally decide to do it. But when I did, I said, if I'm going to do it, I'm gonna go all in. Chad: something that I ever thought I would do. And so I really stretched and grew in that season. It took me a little while to finally decide to do it. But when I did, I said if I'm going to do it, I'm gonna go all in. Skye: And so I posted three videos a week for that first year. I did not miss a video. I did not miss a week. I was just determined to give it my all. And it grew really quickly. we were, you know, monetized within I think a month, and my channel just grew really fast. And I'm so grateful. I know that's not everyone's story. I think that Chad: And so I posted three videos a week for that first year. I did not miss a video. I did not miss a week. I was just determined to give it my all. And it grew really quickly. we were, you know, monetized within I think a month and my channel just grew really fast. And I'm so grateful. I know that's not everyone's story. I think that Skye: again you can see the growth and think Chad: again you can see the growth and think Skye: like this happened overnight, but at the end of the day, it did take a long time for us to truly, you know, make an income that was impactful towards our family. but a lot and a lot and a lot of work. Yeah. And then eventually Chad: this happened overnight, but at the end of the day it did take a long time for us to truly, you know, make an income that was impactful towards our family. but a lot and a lot and a lot of work. Yes. Yeah, and then eventually Skye: I did start getting sponsorships and Chad: I did start getting sponsorships and Skye: making some more money there on YouTube and I felt like it was something that I was really enjoying. And while I still loved our shop, Chad: making some more money there on YouTube and I felt like it was something that I was really enjoying. And while I still loved our shop Skye: it was another added layer that was taking time away from our family. And it was taking time away in a different way than YouTube was. YouTube allowed me to stay at home and to spend time with the kids, do DIY projects with you and, know, just Chad: It was another added layer that was taking time away from our family. And it was taking time away in a different way than YouTube was. YouTube allowed me to stay at home and to spend time with the kids, do DIY projects with you, and you know, just be home. Whereas the shop took us out of our home to our warehouse. and we did have the best employees. Shout out, Sarah, if you're listening. Sarah Laugh Lovely Angela on YouTube. Skye: Be home. Whereas the shop took us out of our home to our warehouse. and we did have the best employees. Shout out Sarah if you're listening. Sarah at Laugh Lovely Angela on YouTube. She is the best. I met her because she applied to work for us and she packaged orders and did inventory for a long time and was fantastic. And now we are just great friends. And I'm so thankful for her. But yeah, so we ultimately, you know, prayed about. Chad: She is the best. I met her because she applied to work for us and she packaged orders and did inventory for a long time and was fantastic. And now we are just great friends. And I'm so thankful for her. But yeah, so we ultimately, you know, prayed about that decision and decided to close our shop and to put my full focus on creating long-form content. Skye: That decision and decided to close our shop and to put my full focus on creating long form content for YouTube and short form for Instagram. And that was a tough decision, but such a right decision for us at the time. And the Lord made that clear. And I think He will. When you come to Him and you ask. Chad: for YouTube and short form for Instagram. And that was a tough decision, but such a right decision for us at the time. And the Lord made that clear and I think He will. When you come to him and you ask for guidance and you ask for clarity, he will give it to you. It may not be the answer that you hoped for or wanted and it may not come as quickly as you hope for or want, but he will give that to you. Mm-hmm. Yeah. Do you have anything that you want to add about that whole season? Skye: for guidance and you ask for clarity, he will give it to you. It may not be the answer that you hoped for or wanted and it may not come as quickly as you hope for or want, but he will give that to you. Mm-hmm. Yeah. Do you have anything that you wanna add about that whole season? Yeah, Chad: Yeah, it was it was crazy. It was fun. It was another challenging and growing season. Skye: it was it was crazy. It was fun. It was another challenging and growing season. Chad: again, with young kids, no family out out here where we live. so we're twelve hours from from basically all of our family, Skye: again with young kids, no family out out here where we live. so we're twelve hours from from basically all of our family. Chad: as you mentioned, it was the right call Skye: as you mentioned, it was the right call to to kind of go and and go full into YouTube and the opportunity that presented for you to to to be home more to not have to Chad: to to go and and go full into YouTube and the opportunity that presented for you to to to be home more to not have to you know sp spend time in the warehouse and and all the things that that kind of that side of the business took. but but yeah I mean reflecting on now like what a what an amazing blessing and you know just the way that's kind of led to here, right? The path that's led to here. you know, house and home, as you said, you know, started is just like this vision from from God and you shared it. I was like, yeah, let's let's go, let's do it. and we invested, you know Skye: sp spend time in the warehouse and and all the things that that that side of the business took. but but yeah, I mean reflecting on now, like what a what an amazing blessing and, you know, just the way that's kind of led to here, right? The path that's led to here. you know, house and home, as you said, you know, started is just like this vision from from God and you shared it. I was like, yeah, let's let's go, let's do it. and we invested, you know, most of our savings at that time into to inventory and shelving and we started in a Chad: most of our savings at that time into to inventory and shelving and we started in a in a a bedroom in our in our house, right? So one of our bedrooms, our smallest bedroom. We lined the bedroom with shelves and and put inventory in and put the the boys together in a room at that time. And so they shared a room and we would put them to bed at night and then we'd go and package orders in that bedroom until, you know, eleven o'clock midnight. Skye: in a a bedroom in our in our house, right? So one of our bedrooms, our smallest bedroom, we lined the bedroom with shelves and and put inventory in and put the the boys together in a room at that time and so they shared a room and we would put them to bed at night and then we'd go and package orders in that bedroom until, you know, eleven o'clock midnight, get up, go to work and and do it all over the again the next day. And so un until we grew from there and and got into the warehouse and everything else. And so Chad: get up, go work and and do it all over the again the next day. And so and until we grew from there and got into the warehouse and everything else. And so it was yeah, such an amazing fun season and and such a a great kind of reminder of like God's plan and God's providence to to lead us to to where you are today and and you know kind of all the things that that you're doing today as a result of of that. Skye: w it was yeah, such an amazing fun season and and such a a a great kind of reminder like God's plan, God's providence to to lead us to to where you are today and and you know, kind of all the things that that you're doing today as a result of of that. it's been a really cool and neat journey. And being at a place now, like kind of to bring this full circle, we always hoped that as Chad: it's been a really cool and neat journey, and being at a place now, like kind of to bring this full circle, we always hoped that as Skye: house and home continued to grow that we would be able to someday Chad: house and home continued to grow that we would be able to someday allow our kids to be a part of it in some way if they were interested if they if that was something they wanted to pursue and it's really neat seeing Skye: allow our kids to be a part of it in some way, if they were interested, if they if that was something they wanted to pursue. And it's really neat seeing, Our daughter will like go around and Chad: our daughter will like go around and Skye: decorate little spaces in the house. She wanted to decorate her room for fall and she's got like a wreath on her door and all kinds of little fall things throughout. And just seeing that has been so sweet. And then Chad: little spaces in the house. She wanted to decorate her room for fall and she's got like a wreath on her door and all kinds of little fall things throughout and just seeing that has been so sweet. And then our oldest now for his birthday wanted the camera and he wanted Skye: Our oldest now for his birthday wanted the camera and he wants Chad: To pursue photography and he's like, Mom, show me like how to use this. What you know, what should I do? And it's really cool because he's in a photography club at school now that actually the day we're filming this is starting. But we got to play with this camera a little bit and go out by the pond by our house and try to get some cool shots and just such a cool way to be able to share the gifts that the Lord has given you with your kids Skye: to pursue photography and he's like, Mom, show me like how to use this. What you know, what should I do? And it's really cool because he's in a photography club at school now that actually the day we're filming this is starting. But we got to play with this camera a little bit and go out by the pond by our house and try to get some cool shots and just such a cool way to be able to share the gifts that the Lord has given you with your kids. And for you as well, being able to ha Chad: and for you as well, being able to ha Skye: involve them in some of these house projects or, you know, when a toilet breaks, like, hey bud, here's how to fix this, you know, just teaching them life skills that are gonna be super valuable for them to have is really cool and just getting to pass that down through the family, I think, is really sweet. Yeah, no, it it absolutely is. I I think you know Chad: involve them in some of these house projects or you know when a toilet breaks like hey bud here's how to fix this you know just teaching them life skills that are gonna be super valuable for them to have is really cool and just getting to pass that down through the family I think is really sweet. Yeah no it it absolutely is. I I think you know hit some of the the highlights there for me but also even setting up this podcast was a lot of fun because it it was trial and errors we were getting in the equipment and testing Skye: You hit some of the the highlights there for me, but also even setting up this podcast was a lot of fun because it it was trial and errors. We were getting in the equipment and testing Chad: everything and making making sure it worked and lighting and all the different things and you mentioned Skye: everything and make you know, making sure it worked and you know, lighting and all the different things. And you mentioned Chad: or our daughter going in and decorating her spaces you know she loved to test the podcast Skye: our daughter going in and decorating her spaces. You know, she loved to test the podcasts. Chad: studio with me so we would sit in these chairs and I would just ask her questions just made up you know random things and we were like making up stories and it was just the most fun thing and we've kept those videos we we still have those and I'm looking forward to to watching those you know Skye: studio with me. So we would sit in these chairs and I would just ask her questions, just made up, random things and we were like making up stories and it was just the most fun thing. We've kept those videos. We we still have those. and I'm looking forward to to watching those, you know, five years from now, ten years from now, twenty years from now, sharing them with her kids. because it's just it's just a fun opportunity to like Chad: five years from now, 10 years from now, 20 years from now, sharing them with her kids. because it's just it's just a fun opportunity to like we're working, but we're also making memories and like you said, bringing them into the business a little bit. and and as they grow, you know, th there's that opportunity. We've been, you know, pretty intentional about like not involving them a ton, like bringing them on camera and doing like kid you know, kid content in that way. Skye: We're working, but we're also making memories and like you said, bringing them into the business a little bit. and and as they grow, you know, th there's that opportunity. We've been, you know, pretty intentional about like not involving them a ton, like bringing them on camera and doing like kid you know, kid content in that way. but you know, they they get to be they're in photo shoots from hu you know, time to time and in your book and and those sort of things a little bit. but but at least now as they're getting older, doing some behind the scenes stuff with our oldest, you know, like Chad: but they they get to be they're in photo shoots from here, time to time and in your book and and those sort of things a little bit. but but at least now as they're getting older, doing some behind the scenes stuff with our oldest, you know, like using the camera and helping, you know, get creative with shots and and those sort of things as he kind of progresses will be a ton of fun. Skye: using the camera and helping, get creative with shots and and those sort of things as he progresses will be a ton of fun. Chad: and so yeah, I think we we've always looked at this as a as a family business, right? Skye: and so yeah, I think we we've always looked at this as a as a family business, right? i any way that we can we can involve them we want to and and even when we were, you know, had the warehouse we would do packaging orders and they would help us select orders. We had have our little R F scanners that they would scan the barcodes to make sure we were shipping the right products and Chad: any way that we can we can involve them we want to and and even when we were, had the warehouse we would do packaging orders and they would help us select orders and we had have our little RF scanners that they would scan the barcodes to make sure we were shipping the right products and you know, they love those barcode scanners. And so we'd go and they'd help us select an order and they'd scan everything to confirm it was the right items that were supposed to be shipped out. and you know, I still just have great memories of that. And they do too. They'll they'll they'll, you know, kind of bring it up from time to time about Skye: they love those barcode scanners and so we'd go and they'd help us select an order and they'd scan everything to confirm it was the right items that were supposed to be shipped out. and you know, I still just have great memories of that and they do too. They'll they'll they'll kind of bring it up from time to time about, Chad: I missed the warehouse. And do you remember? we also created a fun area for them at the time, because they were younger. And so we had Hot Wheels tracks and and books and and all sorts of stuff there at the the warehouse to that they could do if they got bored of, you know, helping us. Skye: I missed the warehouse and do you remember, you know, we also created kind of a fun area for them at the time. Yeah. because they were younger and so we had hot wheels, tracks and and books and and all sorts of stuff there at the the warehouse to that they could do if they got bored of, you know, helping us so they would set up the the Hot Wheels tracks, attach it to the the table to where it would, you could create the slope and go down and the kids talk about that too, man, do you remember when we used to do the Hot Wheels there and do you remember that track that we built that did this and that? Chad: so they would set up the the Hot Wheels tracks, attach it to the the table to where it would, you know, could create the slope and go down. And the kids talked about that too, like, man, do you remember we used to, you know, do the Hot Wheels there? And do you remember that track that we built that did this and that? all of that to say, you know, it's again, we look back on all that House and Home has been and where we are today Skye: all of that to say, you know, it it's again, we look back on all that house and home has been and where we are today. Chad: and and quite honestly we've got big aspirations and dreams for what it'll be in the future. And that's that's part of why Skye: And and quite honestly, we've got big aspirations and dreams for what it'll be in the future. And that's that's part of why part of this episode, right? Part of the podcast, part of the book that's coming out. we have a lot of of goals for the future and and just ways that we can use this this platform to to bless others and and to bless our family and and not specifically you and I, but our kids. and so, you know, that's that's a big piece of it too. Chad: Part of this episode, right? Part of the podcast, part of the book that's coming out. we have a lot of of goals for the future and and just ways that we can use this this platform to to bless others and and to bless our family and and not specifically you and I, but our kids. and so, you know, that's that's a big piece of it too. Skye: Absolutely. So as we look back and as we look Chad: So as we look back and as we Skye: forward as well, we are really excited about the expansion of our overarching brand House and Home. These are kind of offshoots with the podcast and the book, and they both have the word dwell in the titles from Dwell Well and Dwell Here. And I just want to take a quick moment to kind of explain our heart behind that and the reason that we chose Chad: We are really excited about the expansion of our overarching brand, House and Home. These are kind of offshoots with the podcast and the book. And they both have the word dwell in the titles from Dwell Well and Dwell Here. And I just want to take a quick moment to kind of explain our heart behind that and the reason that we chose the word dwell that had been on our hearts for a little while. And it was a word we felt like that kind of Skye: The word dwell that had been on our hearts for a little while. And it was a word we felt like that kind of carried a lot of like weight and value and importance. And just first and foremost, there's a verse in the Bible. It's Psalm 90, verse 1, Lord, you have been our dwelling place throughout all generations. And that verse, you know, just tells us like Chad: carried a lot of weight and value and importance and just first and foremost there's a verse in the Bible it's Psalm 90 verse 1 Lord you have been our dwelling place throughout all generations and that verse you know just tells us like the Lord is our dwelling place and that is first and foremost the most important our foundation in the Lord needs to be solid Skye: The Lord is our dwelling place. And that is first and foremost the most important. Our foundation in the Lord needs to be solid Chad: before we can do anything else well. Skye: before we can do anything else well. Chad: And so we kind of came up with that idea and that name through that Bible verse, and we are looking forward to that being, you know, a part of house and home and something that we're gonna get to talk Skye: And so we kind of came up with that idea and that name through that Bible verse. And we are looking forward to that being, you know, a part of house and home and something that we're gonna get to. Talk about with y'all. A dwelling place is not only, of course, first and foremost, the Lord, but also a home is a dwelling and it's a place where we live and we are with Chad: about with y'all. A dwelling place is not only, of course, first and foremost, you know, the Lord, but also a home is a dwelling and it's a place where we live and we are with. with others most of us, you know, families and marriages are within a home, kids and also even just having people over to your home and hosting and having Skye: others, most of us, you know, families and marriages are within a home, kids, and also even just having people over to your home and hosting and Having it be a place that is like a safe haven and a place that you want to be in, that's welcoming, that's inviting, that is a place that people want to be. And so that's kind of the Chad: it be a place that is like a safe haven and a place that you want to be in that's welcoming, that's inviting, that is a place that people want to be. And so that's kind of the reason, if you will, that we chose chose that name. Skye: reason, if you will, that we chose chose that name. Chad: We are gonna wrap up our episode today with a fun rapid fire series of questions, kind of like get to know us, but these are fun, and I am looking forward to kind of ending all of our episodes with something like this, a fun formatting, whether it's like a quiz or Skye: We're gonna wrap up our episode today with a fun rapid fire series of questions, kind of like get to know us, but these are fun. And I am looking forward to kind of ending all of our episodes with something like this: a fun formatting, whether it's like a quiz or Chad: rapid fire questions or just something like very lighthearted and silly, but a way for you guys to get to know us a little bit, a way for us to just like Skye: Rapid fire questions or just something like very lighthearted and silly, but a way for you guys to get to know us a little bit, a way for us to just like Chad: Like lighten up a little bit, maybe laugh a little bit, and just have a good time. So these will be like short segments at the end of each episode, and we'll just jump right in. Skye: lighten up a little bit, maybe laugh a little bit, and just have a good time. So these will be like short segments at the end of each episode and we'll just jump right in. Chad: Are you ready? Yes. Okay. Skye: Are you ready? Yes. Let's go. What is something that we purchased for the house that you loved but I questioned? This is so easy for me to answer. okay. She has an answer written. Just like that. Go ahead. So easy for me to answer. Because it's something that crosses Chad: What is something that we purchased for the house that you loved but I questioned? This is so easy for me to answer. okay. She has an answer right just like that. Go ahead. So easy for me to answer. What is it? Because it's something that Skye: my mind probably more often than it should. I love Chad: I should. Skye: Do you know what I'm gonna say? Chad: I don't. Skye: I don't. Okay, Chad: I'm I'm Skye: okay, Chad: very Skye: okay. Chad: interested though. Skye: I love Boyd's bears. gosh. Okay. Chad: gosh. Okay. Here she goes. Yeah, so so she she is right. I question that. I still question that. if you guys watching, wherever wherever you're listening, watching, and and you can leave a comment, let us know whether or not you are in favor of these things. I just can't get on board. Sky is amazing. She does 99% Skye: Here she goes. Yeah, so so she's right. I question that. I still question that. if you guys watching, wherever, wherever you're listening, watching, and and you can leave a comment, let us know whether or not you are in favor of these things. I just can't get on board. Sky is amazing. She does 99%. Of 99.9% of things like incredibly well. She is great at decorating and styling our home. Chad: of of 99.9% of things like incredibly well. She is great at decorating and styling our home. Skye: I can't get behind the bears, but go ahead and tell your your side of the story. Chad: can't get behind the bears. But go ahead and tell your your side of the story. Skye: Well, it is supposed to be rapid fire, so I will keep it really short. But essentially at some antique stores, I think around Valentine's Day last year, I had seen the Valentine's Boyd's bears, and they were so cute. I think I bought Chad: Seen the Valentine's Boyd's bears and they were so cute. I think I bought four because they were all different, different sizes. I use them on my shelves and I love them. And Chad and a couple of our kids were like, Mom, what is wrong with you? No offense if you love boys bears. I love them. So I mean we're 50-50. We are split. But for Skye: four because they were all different, different sizes. I use them on my shelves and I loved them. And Chad and a couple of our kids were like, Mom, what is wrong with you? No offense if you love boys bears. I love them. So I mean we're 50-50 here in this household. But for my birthday, I wanted this boys bear that is so cute. She goes in a kitchen or like dining room space. Chad: This boys bear that is so cute. She goes in a kitchen or dining room space. Skye: I forget her exact like name. I'm not like deep into, I'm not a collector. I'm not allowed, okay? Thanks for clarifying that. However, she has like an apron on. She has a cute little bow and it says like Chad: I forget her exact like name. I'm not like deep into I'm not a collector. I'm not allowed, okay? That's that's right. Yes. Thanks for clarifying that. Yeah. However, she has like an apron on, she has a cute little bow and it says Skye: kiss the cook on her little apron. And she's the cutest bear I've ever seen in my life. She's in my coffee bar right now, and I just cannot get enough. Chad: and she is the cutest bear I've ever seen in my life. She's in my coffee bar right now and I just cannot get enough. Skye: And so I asked him for it. I sent him the link. Chad: And so I asked him for it. I sent him the link Skye: And I knew like I was a hundred percent certain I was not getting this bear for my birthday because he was like that what did you say? I think your initial response, I think it was a work day, so I think I texted it to you and I think you said like, Are you okay? That that you're right. That was my response. I said are you okay? Like I had to do a mental sanity check, like, are you there? Are you okay? But Well, Chad: and I knew like I was a hundred percent certain I was not getting this bear for my birthday because he was like, That what did you say? I think your initial response, I think it was a work day, so I think I texted it to you. Yes. And think you said like, Are you okay? That that you're right, that was my response. I said, Are you okay? Like I had to do a mental sanity check, like, Are you there? Are you okay? But but Skye: I did get the bear. Chad: She did get the bear. Skye: 'Cause he's the best husband ever. I got the bear. Chad: Got the bear. Skye: I got the bear. I do think that my love for bears comes from my grandpa sweats. He collected Thai bears and he put them out Chad: He collected Thai bears and he put them out. Skye: at every holiday, literally every holiday, like St. Paddy's, Valentine's, Chad: St. Paddy's Valley. Skye: all of them. And he would have them out. And I just have so many like childhood memories of seeing them and then as he was getting Chad: And he would have them out. And I just have so many like childhood memories of seeing them and then as he was getting Skye: Old and his health was declining, he gave our kid some and it just makes you emotional to think about. But I think that's where it came from. So it comes from a good place. He knows my heart, which is why I got the bear. But I do send him pictures every time I go antiquing, and he's like, absolutely not. Very true. Okay, question number two. Chad: old and his health was declining, he gave our kids some and it just makes me emotional to think about. But I think that's where it came from. So it comes from a good place. He knows my heart, which is why I got the bear. But I do send him pictures every time I go antiquing and he's like absolutely not. Very true. Very true. Question number two. Skye: What is your favorite and least favorite house tour? Chad: What is your favorite and least favorite house tour? I mean, I don't know if it's possible to have a favorite house tour, so let me just put that out as like a disclaimer. and and don't like hold me to this. but if I had to just pick one as a favorite, I don't know, I like doing the dishes. hold up. I said I like doing the dishes because it's it's our kitchen is open. You're kind of still out with everyone, and you can like do the dishes and talk with the kids or see what's going on with them. They're playing. Skye: I don't know if it's possible to have a favorite house chore, so let me just put that out as a disclaimer. and and don't like hold me to this. but if I had just pick one as a favorite, I don't know, I like doing the dishes. hold up. I said I like doing the dishes because it's it's our kitchen is open, you're kind of still out with everyone, and you can like do the dishes and talk with the kids or see what's going on with them. They're playing, you know, games or whatever. so I I don't I I don't mind doing the dishes. Chad: games or whatever, reading. so I I don't I I don't mind doing the dishes. and then my least favorite. I'm gonna remember that. My least favorite, we'll remember this one too then. My least favorite, hands down, okay, is breaking down all the boxes to try to fit them in our recycling that we can never fit and they have to end up going in the trash or taking them somewhere else because like 99% of what comes into our house comes in in a box, it seems. Like we we are definitely in the era of convenience. Skye: And then my least favorite. I'm gonna remember that. My least favorite. We'll remember this one too then. My least favorite, hands down, okay, is breaking down all the boxes to try to fit them in our recycling that we can never fit. And they have to end up going in the trash or taking them somewhere else because like 99% of what comes into our house comes in in a box, it seems. Like we we are definitely in the era of convenience. Chad: and so so much is coming Amazon and everything else is being shipped to our house, which is great. It's super convenient. Skye: and so so much is coming Amazon and everything else is being shipped to our house, which is great. It's super convenient. Chad: Except what happens is you open that box, you then take out whatever you bought, and then you throw the whole box just into the garage, right right in the the front steps there. And it perfect sense to me. It I know it does to you. And then I have to go out there and like climb Mount Everest of boxes to start pulling all of these out, breaking them down. Skye: Except what happens is you open that box, you then take out whatever you bought, and then you throw the whole box just into the garage. Mm-hmm. Right right in the the front steps there. It makes perfect sense to me. I know it does to you. And then I have to go out there and climb Mount Everest of boxes to start pulling all these out, breaking them down, putting them in the the recycling receptacle, which is not big enough, even at whatever that thing is, two hundred and fifty gallons or whatever it is, however those big those are. Chad: putting them in the the recycling receptacle, which is not big enough, even at whatever that thing is, two hundred and fifty gallons or whatever it is, however those big those are, I cannot fit all of our boxes, 'cause they only pick up every other week. So that is by far my least favorite chore. Skye: I cannot fit all of our boxes, 'cause they only pick up every other week. So that is by far my least favorite chore. I'm gonna remember the dishes. Yeah. Well that that's the note that I took from that. Yes, yes. okay, so for you, what is a family tradition that you'll never let go? Chad: Okay. Well, you know that I selec selective memory, I guess, huh? Okay, so for you, what is a family tradition that you'll never let go? Skye: Well, for me, I feel like the majority man, I now I have like three. Chad: Yeah. Skye: The majority of my family traditions that I love so much, I would say definitely decorating the kids like little space in our dining room before their birthdays every year is just like getting it ready for their special day, whatever they're loving that year. This year our oldest chose like games. So like board games, video games, all the games. He's having some of his best like Chad: Say definitely decorating the kids little space in our dining room before their birthdays every year is just like getting it ready for their special day, whatever they're loving that year. This year, our oldest shows like games, so board games, video games, all the games he's having some of his best like Skye: friends over. Chad: friends over and they're just gonna have a game night. So we went all out with like game decor and that was so fun. But I love doing that. But every time I think of family tradition, I immediately start thinking about Christmas. Yeah. And so honestly like I can't pick one favorite. As the holidays get closer, I think we could do an episode on this and really like two like favorite traditions. but Skye: And they're just gonna have a game night. So we went all out with game decor and that was so fun. But I love doing that. But every time I think of family tradition, I immediately start thinking about Christmas. And so honestly, like I can't pick one favorite. As the holidays get closer, I think we could do an episode on this and really like dive into like favorite traditions. but growing up My favorite was going out chopping down the Christmas tree with my family and then decorating the tree. And so I would say passing that down to the kids. That's just like a really special one. What is something small that your spouse does that you didn't expect to fall for? Like I think it means like fall in love with. okay. Okay. I'm gonna out you so hard. no. Actually, I have a different one that came to mind. Chad: favorite was going out chopping down the Christmas tree with my family and then decorating the tree and so I would say passing that down to the kids that's just a really special one. What is something small that your spouse does that you didn't expect to fall for? I think it means fall in love with. I know what it means. okay. Okay. I'm gonna out you so hard. my god Okay Actually I have a different one that came to mind first but I have to share this one. Skye: First, but I have to share this one. I'm really nervous. You should be. I I'll share this part, but not what actually happened. What? Guys, I gotta I gotta look into the camera here and share this. We were sitting down to film this episode and we weren't ten minutes in. Stop You are not We were not. Ten minutes in this guy goes BURP Just let out. Chad: You should be. I I'll share this part, but not what actually happened. What guys, I gotta I gotta look in the camera here and share this. We were sitting down to film this episode and we weren't ten minutes in. We weren't We were not ten minutes in. And Sky goes Burp Just let out the biggest burp and it was Skye: The biggest so mean bird and it was Chad: So stinking cute. I laughed. I la it was. It was cute. So it's like it happens every once in a while for you. And it's but anyway, I I do. I think it's cute. I think it's funny. I fell in love with it. so yeah, so there's that. So there's there's the number one. But no, a a different one that that actually I was I was thinking about, but it's funny, but on this episode I actually kind of did it myself. but you have a habit of Skye: so stinking cute. I laughed I la it was. It was cute 'cause it it's like it happens every once in a while for you and it it's but anyway, I I do. I think it's cute. I think it's funny. I fell in love with it. so yeah, so there's that. So there's there's the number one. But no, a a different one that that actually I was I was thinking about, but it's funny, but on this episode I actually kind of did it myself. but you have a habit of Chad: making up words. Skye: making up words, or thinking that words that are truly words Chad: or thinking that words that are truly words, they they don't like just don't exist. They aren't real words. And I have to show you in the dictionary or pull it up on my phone that it's a real word. So I I feel like I love that. I think it's so cute. You also in along those same lines have this habit of messing up phrases, which I think I did earlier in this episode. but you have this habit of like messing up phrases. So whatever the the phrase is, you you end up, you know, saying it incorrectly somehow. Skye: They they don't like just don't exist. They aren't real words. And I have to show you in the dictionary or pull it up on my phone that it's a real word. So I I feel like I love that. I think it's so cute. You also in kind of along those same lines have this habit of messing up phrases, which I think I did earlier in this episode. but but you have this habit of like messing up phrases. So whatever the the phrase is, you you end up, you know, saying it incorrectly somehow Chad: And I think it's super cute and I love it and I wouldn't change it for anything. Skye: and I think it's super cute and I love it and I wouldn't change it for anything. Well, for what it's worth, I have a wonderful vocabulary. That is true. It's Chad: That is true. It's Skye: I was gonna say Chad: I was gonna say Skye: some might say colorful, but I think that that is interpreted a little bit differently. Not colorful. I have a very bland Chad: No yeah. I wouldn't say col yeah, I wouldn't say you have a colorful voc vocabulary. Skye: vocabulary. but I I would tend to believe that the words that I say are true and real and accurate and Webster dictionary I think needs to check themselves sometimes. Chad: And real and accurate and Webster dictionary I think needs to check themselves sometimes. That is true. They're adding some crazy things. I I I I understand that, but they're like some very long standing words that you just don't think exists. I'm like, yes, it's a word and this is what it means. So you're funny. Skye: That is true. They're adding some crazy things. I I I I understand that. But they're like some very long standing words that you just don't think exists. I'm like, yes, it's word and this is what it means. So you're funny. Chad: Okay, this'll be interesting. So you can out yourself to the world and now I can know what is your go to excuse when you don't want to do a chore. Skye: Okay, this'll be interesting. So you can out yourself to the world and now I can know what is your go to excuse when you don't want to do a chore. Honestly, I will say I feel like this is like a just a totally raw and honest answer, is that I feel like I will run myself just Chad: I will say I feel like this is like a just a totally raw and honest answer is that I feel like I will run myself just what's the phrase? Now we're talking about phrases and I don't know the phrase. Ragged? Skye: What's the phrase? Now we're talking about phrases and I don't know the phrase. that doesn't feel right. To the bone. No Chad: No, you don't you don't run yourself to the bone. Basically, I feel like I will go all day long where I'm like barely eat anything. I'm running like a chicken with my head cut off. I got that one right. And I am just trying to get a thousand and one things done. And I get to the point where it's like the dishes need to be done, the laundry needs to be done, like those types of chores that maybe I didn't get done that day. Skye: Basically I feel like I will go all day long where I'm like barely eat anything. I'm running like a chicken with my head cut off. I got that one right. And I am just trying to get a thousand and one things done. And I get to the point where it's like the dishes need to be done, the laundry need be done, like those types of chores that maybe I didn't get done that day. And I'm just like, you know what? You are actually just like those things can sit. You're gonna give yourself a minute. Go sit on the porch. That is literally my happy place. Go sit on the porch, take a breather, get a book, cup of coffee, whatever. And that's kind of my excuse is like you've been working hard, you need to rest. When sometimes it's like, okay, yes, but also school lunches need packed, Chad: And I'm just like, you know what? You are actually just like those things can sit. You're gonna give yourself a minute. Go sit on the porch. That is literally my happy place. Go sit on the porch, take a breather, get a book, cup of coffee, whatever. And that's kind of my excuse. It's like you've been working hard, you need to rest. When sometimes it's like, okay, yes, but also school lunches need packed. Skye: you know, those kind of things. So again, I Chad: those kind of things. So again, I I think I need to do some like internal work here on just scheduling and figuring out how to prioritize certain things over other things and say no to things and all of that. so again, very much in the messy, messy middle. Mm-hmm. But is the last home project that took way longer than it should have. Skye: I think I need to do some internal work here on just scheduling and figuring out how to prioritize certain things over other things and say no to things and all of that. so again, very much in the messy, messy middle. What is the last home project that took way longer than it should have? Chad: Probably I would say the Kitchen Island. And the reason I say that is it took longer than I w wanted it to. but but really it was we got into it, what what it was supposed to be was that leveling off, super simple. But we get into it, we had to move all the electrical. I couldn't move it to where I wanted it to go. So I had to get creative and do some research on, you know, some different switches that I could put. because I ended up putting them kind of beneath the the Skye: would say the kitchen island. And the reason I say that is it took longer than I w wanted it to. But really it was, we got into it, what what it was supposed to be was that leveling off, super simple. But we get into it, we had to move all the electrical. I couldn't move it to where I wanted it to go, so I had to get creative and do some research on you know some different switches that I could put because I ended up putting them kind of beneath the the the countertop there. Chad: the the countertop there and then putting a switch on the other side but what wasn't hardwired it was a wireless one Skye: and then putting a switch on the other side, but wasn't hardwired, it was a wireless one, just because of how that that setup is. And so Chad: just because of how that that setup is and so that ended up taking longer than I wanted it to and I had to you know go to to Lowe's for a few trips. I had to wait for the brackets to come in before I could install those. And so you know the the process took longer than I I wanted it to or than it should have. we still got it done. It looks great. I guess you know and also kind of Skye: That ended up taking longer than I wanted it to. And I had to, go to to Lowe's for a few trips. I had to wait for the brackets to come in before I could install those. And so, the the process took longer than I I wanted it to or than it should have. we still got it done. It looks great. I guess, you know, it also kind of once we got into it, you're like, hey, why don't we sh add the shiplap or not shiplap, speed board to it too. so that wasn't necessarily budgeted in. So it was it ended up being a bigger project than I anticipated. but Chad: Once we got into it, you're like, hey, why don't we sh add the shiplap or not shiplap, the bead board to it too. so that wasn't necessarily budgeted in. So it was it ended up being a bigger project than I anticipated. but it it turned out well and it got done, and so that's all that matters, I guess. Yeah. It honestly was so worth every minute, every day that it took. It's easy for you to say. No, it was. It was worth it. Skye: It it turned out well and it got done and so that's all that matters, I guess. Yeah. It honestly was so worth every minute, every day that it took. It's easy for you to say. I know. I was just a spectator. No, it was. It was worth it. Chad: last one. If you were a home appliance, which one would you be Skye: last one. If you were a home appliance, which one would you be? Chad: and why? Does it have to be like a kitchen appliance? That's like my go to like what? Any any appliance in the home, I think most of tend to you think of kitchen, but but any appliance. Okay. Skye: Does it have to be like a kitchen appliance? That's like my go to like what? Any any appliance in the home, I think most of tend to you think of kitchen, but but any appliance. Okay. I'm gonna go with the refrigerator. Chad: I'm gonna go with the refrigerator. Skye: For two reasons. One, because I'm always reaching for food or restocking it. It feels like every day we're doing a grocery order and getting more groceries because these kids are eating us out of this house. And then for the second reason, I feel like it's like a personality thing for me. It really embodies me. I can be tidy and put together on the outside. I can have my house tidy and put together on the outside, but don't you dare open my refrigerator. Chad: For two reasons. One because I'm always reaching for food or restocking it. It feels like every day we're doing a grocery order and getting more groceries because these kids are eating us out of this house. Yes. And then for the second reason, I feel like it's like a personality thing for me. It really embodies me. I can be tidy and put together on the outside. I can have my house tidy and put together on the outside, but don't you dare open my refrigerator or my closet. Skye: Or my closets Chad: Or my bathroom cabinets because they are stuffed to the brim. Skye: or my bathroom cabinets because they are stuffed to the brim. Chad: I would love to say that my life is totally organized. And I guess you're probably gathering from this episode that it's not. But this is one of the many areas of growth that I personally can have. Is just getting some better organizational systems Skye: I would love to say that my life is totally organized. And I guess you're probably gathering from this episode that it's not, but this is one of the many areas of growth that I personally can have is just getting some better organizational systems. Chad: for the things that are behind the doors. I would say that we have a pretty good system for keeping our home tidy as far as what we live in and what we see, but Skye: For the things that are behind the doors, I would say that we have a pretty good system for keeping our home tidy as far as what we live in and what we see. But Chad: Cabinets, pantries, refrigerators, not so good. Skye: cabinets, pantries, refrigerators, not so good. Chad: Absolutely.
