- 0:59Speaker 1: What's up, man man? What's popping? What's up?
- 1:01Speaker 2: Buddy good Man.
- 1:02Speaker 1: Just landed in LA. I was in New York finishing
- 1:05Speaker 1: this new album, uh, the Killer Whales of Gotham. I decided,
- 1:11Speaker 1: the Killer Whales of Gotham. Yeah, we went to we
- 1:14Speaker 1: went to uh Staten Island. Okay, So you know, I
- 1:19Speaker 1: was a garbage man and uh I met a kid
- 1:22Speaker 1: who's a garbage man. And I was in the in
- 1:25Speaker 1: the barber shop and they playing this kid's beats and
- 1:27Speaker 1: I'm like, yeah, who produced that? Like some garbage man
- 1:29Speaker 1: from stant Allen. And I was like, yo, give me
- 1:31Speaker 1: his number. I called him, like, yo, you produce these beasts.
- 1:33Speaker 1: He's like yeah, his name is Casella, dom Casella and
- 1:37Speaker 1: some Italian kid. And I was like, yo, I want
- 1:39Speaker 1: to record. I wanted to record on these beast. He's like, Yo,
- 1:42Speaker 1: why don't you just slide through over here like Stanton Allen.
- 1:44Speaker 1: He's like yeah, he's like come through. He's gotta work
- 1:47Speaker 1: with metha man whatever. Dang. And I was like all right, cool,
- 1:49Speaker 1: Well that's kind of rap album I kind of want
- 1:51Speaker 1: to be doing right now. We'll be in a rap bag.
- 1:53Speaker 1: So I started this album, and I've been locked in
- 1:57Speaker 1: in New York. I haven't really came back here. Plants
- 1:59Speaker 1: died in.
- 2:00Speaker 2: The crib like you're in. I mean, I feel like
- 2:03Speaker 2: you've been you were in LA forever.
- 2:04Speaker 1: Yeah, I've been in LA for a while. Yeah, yeah,
- 2:07Speaker 1: I mean I have to move out, you know, Like
- 2:08Speaker 1: it feels like the I love La, man, I don't
- 2:11Speaker 1: hate LA. I love LA. I just think, you know,
- 2:13Speaker 1: you you eventually have to like move out to let
- 2:15Speaker 1: people know around you, like you really are on type shit.
- 2:18Speaker 2: Right you feel. I feel like you kind of also
- 2:20Speaker 2: like you've been through like so many different like you've
- 2:24Speaker 2: kind of been thrown into the blender of the music
- 2:26Speaker 2: industry and kind of spit out the other side. I
- 2:31Speaker 2: think about, like, you know, obviously the Rock Day shit RCA.
- 2:34Speaker 2: It's just like, you know, I feel like you kind
- 2:36Speaker 2: of made like this like amazing music throughout your whole career,
- 2:40Speaker 2: but for whatever reason, like the label would never get
- 2:42Speaker 2: behind it the way I thought that they should. Like
- 2:44Speaker 2: I think about the nineteen eighty four hour, I'm like, yo,
- 2:45Speaker 2: this is this. You were kind of ahead of your time,
- 2:48Speaker 2: like a lot of people, kind of everybody after that
- 2:50Speaker 2: after that yeah, yeah, we did. If you had sting
- 2:53Speaker 2: on that ship.
- 2:54Speaker 1: Yeah, man, thank you, bro. You know, I also I
- 2:58Speaker 1: recently did, like the time while we had that interview
- 3:01Speaker 1: for nineteen eighty four, I was finishing Brooklyn Cowboy, which
- 3:03Speaker 1: is a country album. Yeah, that was twenty twenty, and
- 3:05Speaker 1: they were like, uh, we ain't doing no country album
- 3:08Speaker 1: and I ended up getting in a fight with the label.
- 3:11Speaker 2: So you were already working on it before it was
- 3:12Speaker 2: the thing, because that was one thing I saw you do,
- 3:14Speaker 2: the country thing, and I was like, well that's kind
- 3:16Speaker 2: of random.
- 3:17Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah. I started the country album twenty nineteen, finished
- 3:21Speaker 1: it in twenty twenty, delivered it. They didn't want to
- 3:24Speaker 1: put it out. They said country is not the move.
- 3:26Speaker 1: That's just not it, and then four years later it
- 3:29Speaker 1: became the hottest shit. Yeah everybody. But I thought to
- 3:32Speaker 1: get that album because I wanted to own it. So
- 3:34Speaker 1: as soon as I was off RCA, started my own
- 3:36Speaker 1: label on February twenty third, which is you know, off
- 3:42Speaker 1: RCA O RCA is ORCA. That's how my label started,
- 3:45Speaker 1: off RCA, and I just felt yeah, off rc Yeah yeah,
- 3:49Speaker 1: so I kind of felt like, you know, I kind
- 3:51Speaker 1: of felt like I was a killer whale in SeaWorld.
- 3:54Speaker 1: You know, labels is the sea World. So I said, yo,
- 3:56Speaker 1: fuck sea World. You know, started my whole shit, got
- 3:58Speaker 1: my own chain. I ain't wait for nothing.
- 4:00Speaker 2: And that's a good good reper or a good uh
- 4:02Speaker 2: you know, I see it.
- 4:03Speaker 1: Thank you man. So yeah, just you know I've been
- 4:06Speaker 1: You're right though, I've been put in all this and
- 4:10Speaker 1: I do all types of music. I've always done it
- 4:12Speaker 1: since the beginning of my career. But you know, rap
- 4:14Speaker 1: and hip hop is like what got me started. If
- 4:16Speaker 1: you listen to every single album I've ever put out,
- 4:18Speaker 1: you always hear a hip hop or rap element, and
- 4:21Speaker 1: all the albums, you know, because the culture, I feel like,
- 4:24Speaker 1: you know, a lot of the songs that I was
- 4:26Speaker 1: sampled then rap are not. It's not hip hop or
- 4:28Speaker 1: rap music that sample is. They sample jazz, You sample
- 4:31Speaker 1: pop music, you know, So regardless, like the culture and
- 4:34Speaker 1: rap always is always involved in every genre.
- 4:37Speaker 2: Yeah, and you also were the first one of the
- 4:39Speaker 2: first artists I remember like, uh really kind of people
- 4:44Speaker 2: finding on Spotify. Yeah yeah, when yeah, like I think
- 4:50Speaker 2: it was when Tuma was running things like early rap Caviar,
- 4:53Speaker 2: Like I remember you like a lot of people like like,
- 4:56Speaker 2: that's I think that might be. I think i'd heard
- 4:58Speaker 2: of you, but I think I really like got hit
- 5:00Speaker 2: to the music just because you were on I forget
- 5:02Speaker 2: what playlist it was, but you were.
- 5:03Speaker 1: Like caveat facetop hits. I mean when those playlists mattered,
- 5:08Speaker 1: you know what I mean. Now it's just like whatever, Like.
- 5:10Speaker 2: Yeah, I feel like the playlist nowadays are like I
- 5:12Speaker 2: don't know, man. You know, I always say that the
- 5:15Speaker 2: blog era was the ship back in the day because
- 5:17Speaker 2: there were gatekeepers, but at least they had a good taste.
- 5:19Speaker 1: You know. That's what I'm saying. You know, it's so funny.
- 5:21Speaker 1: Man just ran into this dude, Mecca, my boy. Shout
- 5:25Speaker 1: out to Mecca. Man just ran into him. I did
- 5:26Speaker 1: an interview. They got this new thing called Create Diggins.
- 5:30Speaker 2: Yeah it was Mecca and Shake from Yeah.
- 5:32Speaker 1: So shout out to Shake. Shout out to Mecca. I mean, yeah,
- 5:35Speaker 1: you're right. You just said it like they had taste. Nowadays,
- 5:37Speaker 1: it's just like people buying slots and stuff, you know.
- 5:40Speaker 2: Or it's just like numbers. It's like where's what's the algorithm?
- 5:43Speaker 2: And then there's like, okay, how much of this is
- 5:46Speaker 2: like because everybody who like at the end of the day,
- 5:49Speaker 2: like if you're on a major label for the most
- 5:51Speaker 2: part and you're like a major priority, there is like
- 5:53Speaker 2: some level of like inflating the numbers.
- 5:55Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean all the numbers is fake. You know
- 5:57Speaker 1: what I'm saying. I don't want to be up here
- 5:58Speaker 1: sounding like rustling shit, but like, you know, the reality
- 6:01Speaker 1: is a lot of the ship is fake. A lot
- 6:03Speaker 1: of the ship's bootleg. And you know it's like it's
- 6:05Speaker 1: like you can't see it. You like search the numbers
- 6:08Speaker 1: on your laptop, you see, Like why is like twenty
- 6:11Speaker 1: million people listening to this artist in Bangladesh? Like why
- 6:15Speaker 1: are they so popping in and the Philippines.
- 6:18Speaker 2: Or in fucking like you know, Estonia, Russia something crazy?
- 6:22Speaker 1: Well, I can't say now Russia is lit because you know,
- 6:24Speaker 1: we sold fifteen thousand tickets in Russia, you know what
- 6:26Speaker 1: I mean? So you know Russia is really streaming.
- 6:30Speaker 2: Year was this I don't even remember when the conflict
- 6:33Speaker 2: I don't know. I just try to figure that out now.
- 6:36Speaker 1: It was back in the day now, But yeah, my
- 6:38Speaker 1: manager did get taken taken and pushed the side they
- 6:42Speaker 1: had because this passport had a rip in and so
- 6:44Speaker 1: he had to wait for us to be finished with
- 6:46Speaker 1: the show. Yeah, it was kind of stressful over there,
- 6:47Speaker 1: but you know, fan base in Russia, Germany, Like when
- 6:51Speaker 1: I did Germany, I was opening up for Playbook Cardi.
- 6:53Speaker 1: I was on tour Cardi and those kids. They just
- 6:56Speaker 1: love the underground ship. They don't really care about like
- 6:58Speaker 1: the number one song and this and that, Like you're
- 7:01Speaker 1: not really listening to the stuff Americans are listening to
- 7:03Speaker 1: over there. They like like Suicide Boys, they like like
- 7:06Speaker 1: Little Peep and shit like that. You know, bones so bones. Yeah.
- 7:11Speaker 2: It's crazy too because like a lot of fans, I
- 7:14Speaker 2: feel like they've been programmed to, like, you know, come
- 7:21Speaker 2: up with an opinion on an artist or a song
- 7:23Speaker 2: based on what their profile and Spotify looks like like
- 7:27Speaker 2: if you open up if you opened up some Spotify
- 7:30Speaker 2: profile and they only have like I don't know, ten
- 7:32Speaker 2: thousand monthly listeners like this shit, ain't it? Like Yeah,
- 7:35Speaker 2: I feel like it's a thing. I mean, you know,
- 7:37Speaker 2: the problem instead of finding artists, and the.
- 7:39Speaker 1: Problem is people want people are listening with their eyes,
- 7:42Speaker 1: you know what I mean, and not theirs. And it's
- 7:44Speaker 1: sad because you know, you see the situation we in now.
- 7:47Speaker 1: It's like music has become so accessible people don't respect it,
- 7:51Speaker 1: and it's terrible. Back in our day, I mean talking
- 7:54Speaker 1: about me and we were just say, it's probably thirty eight,
- 7:56Speaker 1: I'm thirty four, Like same shit. Yeah, you know, it's
- 8:01Speaker 1: like you waited online, you grabbed a CD, you opened
- 8:05Speaker 1: it up, you read the lyrics, you cared about it,
- 8:07Speaker 1: you cared about what the artist had to say, the
- 8:09Speaker 1: package and everything, and it made you feel something like
- 8:12Speaker 1: when you held the CD, like this hard work. I
- 8:15Speaker 1: got this shit, you know what I mean. But now
- 8:16Speaker 1: it's like shit comes out at twelve. You just go
- 8:19Speaker 1: skim through it and then they fucking judge you based
- 8:21Speaker 1: on one listen, they skim right through it.
- 8:23Speaker 2: And I'll do like like some of these streams just
- 8:26Speaker 2: so cringey.
- 8:26Speaker 1: Bro oh my god.
- 8:27Speaker 2: D I saw and you know, I got love for
- 8:30Speaker 2: the Nelk Voys, but I saw Kyle from NELK and
- 8:32Speaker 2: Aiden Ross trying to talk about the Drake Kendrick Beefe
- 8:36Speaker 2: and it was like watching two blind people talk about
- 8:39Speaker 2: it hating. It was hilarious.
- 8:42Speaker 1: I mean, what Tyler the creators say recently, he said,
- 8:45Speaker 1: some people don't deserve a mic or like some people
- 8:47Speaker 1: should not be able.
- 8:48Speaker 2: To, especially when it comes to like certain shit. It's like, yo, man,
- 8:50Speaker 2: like y'all talk about I don't know what the fuck
- 8:52Speaker 2: they talk about, but you know, just like leave the
- 8:54Speaker 2: rapture alone. But now it's interesting, like it's definitely a
- 8:57Speaker 2: thing because back then, like even if the album sucked,
- 9:00Speaker 2: you spent your hard earned money on it, so you're
- 9:02Speaker 2: gonna do your damnest to find a song that you like.
- 9:06Speaker 1: You like, like one song on there was like good enough,
- 9:08Speaker 1: you know what.
- 9:09Speaker 2: I'm like, all right, well, look at least I got.
- 9:10Speaker 1: At least I got this joint that I can play
- 9:12Speaker 1: over and over again.
- 9:12Speaker 2: But now it's like like you said, people once they
- 9:15Speaker 2: skimmed through it. If you know it's it's damn near.
- 9:18Speaker 1: It's fucked up. Man. You know, my father used to
- 9:20Speaker 1: work at Warner as a garbage man, and they used
- 9:23Speaker 1: to throw the CDs out months before it came out.
- 9:25Speaker 1: The demos used to bring them home, and I would
- 9:27Speaker 1: just listen to them as a kid, and I would
- 9:28Speaker 1: pick the singles, you know, like with the ones I liked,
- 9:31Speaker 1: I would just like grab a pen and like circle
- 9:33Speaker 1: the ones I liked on a CD and they always
- 9:35Speaker 1: ended up being the singles on the radio too, which
- 9:37Speaker 1: is funny. So I like, somehow I ended up being
- 9:40Speaker 1: my own like immigrant and who didn't speak English, but
- 9:43Speaker 1: just love music, you know, love it.
- 9:45Speaker 2: Talk about like for you, you know, just what was
- 9:49Speaker 2: the motivation to you know, obviously come off of doing
- 9:52Speaker 2: a country album country so big, what was the motivation
- 9:56Speaker 2: to get back to the grimy rap shit? Because this
- 9:58Speaker 2: is really like your first like I would say, like
- 10:01Speaker 2: in terms of this pocket and hip hop like project.
- 10:03Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean I've always wrapped right, but never this
- 10:07Speaker 1: good right because.
- 10:09Speaker 2: Which was by choice.
- 10:12Speaker 1: Yeah, my father got sick and it kind of fucked
- 10:17Speaker 1: me up and I had to go back home, and uh,
- 10:22Speaker 1: I don't know, it was just like I've been through.
- 10:25Speaker 1: I had a hard four years in my life and
- 10:32Speaker 1: I don't know, it's just like kind of forgot what
- 10:35Speaker 1: reality was being in La right.
- 10:39Speaker 2: Yeah, LA's dude. If you could put in that industry blender,
- 10:42Speaker 2: you end up in all these events. Yeah, just around
- 10:45Speaker 2: all these like super like finicky people who are only
- 10:47Speaker 2: around you because of what they think you could do
- 10:50Speaker 2: for them or.
- 10:51Speaker 1: Yeah, man, I mean I went to New York. You
- 10:53Speaker 1: know what I'm saying. I just got a whole family
- 10:57Speaker 1: in New York, and uh, shit got real, you know
- 11:02Speaker 1: what I mean, in my life and the weather change,
- 11:09Speaker 1: shit got real. I needed to feel something again, so
- 11:12Speaker 1: I started to pick up the shit that made me
- 11:14Speaker 1: fall in love with it, you know what I mean.
- 11:15Speaker 1: And I was like, I just love the shit. And
- 11:21Speaker 1: then I had my homie who from high school, my
- 11:26Speaker 1: boy a Jamal. She go by Jimmy Banks. He's one
- 11:31Speaker 1: of my favorite rappers. And I put him on the
- 11:33Speaker 1: album and I was like, you know what, it's time
- 11:35Speaker 1: for me to give back to the people that I
- 11:36Speaker 1: kind of grew up with. And I put him on
- 11:40Speaker 1: the album with me, and it was just like it
- 11:43Speaker 1: was like that. It was like Jordan Kobe, Like that's
- 11:46Speaker 1: how I felt in school. We would kill that shit
- 11:47Speaker 1: every lunch room. That was my homie. So I kind
- 11:50Speaker 1: of wanted to go back to why I started the shit,
- 11:52Speaker 1: because for a while, it just felt like music was
- 11:54Speaker 1: just sad and I hated these rappers so much. They're
- 11:58Speaker 1: so corny and they're lame, and in real life I
- 12:01Speaker 1: would never want to beat them, you know, And rap
- 12:05Speaker 1: was something that's so special and it got whack, it
- 12:07Speaker 1: got watered down.
- 12:08Speaker 2: Do you feel like the era in which your entry
- 12:12Speaker 2: point in terms of like the mainstream of hip hop
- 12:15Speaker 2: did it kind of because you kind of came in
- 12:20Speaker 2: during I would say the Dark Ages. I always say
- 12:24Speaker 2: I did it kind of like just like like like
- 12:27Speaker 2: because when you when you're coveted and you're doing what
- 12:29Speaker 2: you do and you have the talent that you have,
- 12:31Speaker 2: and you've kind of seen like a lot of people,
- 12:33Speaker 2: you know, getting braced to where maybe you know, you
- 12:36Speaker 2: were you were with it at the you know, ground level,
- 12:39Speaker 2: and but then you see guys like uh, not even
- 12:42Speaker 2: to say names, just the SoundCloud era, just people were
- 12:44Speaker 2: getting signed off of antics and not music, and you
- 12:48Speaker 2: were like a true artist. So like I can only
- 12:51Speaker 2: imagine like coming in at that time and trying to
- 12:54Speaker 2: compete with funck shit for real. I mean it had
- 12:58Speaker 2: to be like it had to be like tough.
- 13:00Speaker 1: I don't know, it was tough, you know what I mean,
- 13:02Speaker 1: But it was just like I was dealing with a
- 13:04Speaker 1: lot of weird shit too, Like at the time, like
- 13:06Speaker 1: I found, you know, I linked up with post Malone,
- 13:10Speaker 1: and like I was dealing with his shit, like where
- 13:13Speaker 1: we got into a beef because I dressed him up
- 13:16Speaker 1: for his first videos. His first video ever was my video,
- 13:19Speaker 1: you know what I mean. And it got weird because
- 13:23Speaker 1: he kind of jumped into my management, Austin Rosen, who
- 13:27Speaker 1: brought me into the music business. He's like the biggest
- 13:29Speaker 1: dude in music now and he's the one who discovered me.
- 13:33Speaker 1: I was homeless when he discovered me, you know what
- 13:35Speaker 1: I mean, Like I had nothing, and then you got
- 13:38Speaker 1: this kid post Malone who just comes into the picture
- 13:40Speaker 1: and it felt like like like a soul swap. It
- 13:43Speaker 1: was weird because like he wasn't really doing the sound
- 13:48Speaker 1: we was doing and rapping and doing all that, you know,
- 13:50Speaker 1: and it felt like a soul swap. It was like weird.
- 13:53Speaker 1: We kind of looked the same and it was so weird.
- 13:56Speaker 1: He like took the management. He took my management because
- 13:59Speaker 1: at the time it was just Dray London, yeah, who
- 14:01Speaker 1: was busting his ass to make the straight was killing
- 14:04Speaker 1: it for sure, yeah at the time. And then he
- 14:07Speaker 1: like grabbed my management and then he went and grabbed
- 14:10Speaker 1: my producer Lewis Bell, and they took the template and
- 14:13Speaker 1: just started doing.
- 14:14Speaker 2: So this had to have been because he was working
- 14:16Speaker 2: with the first and Charlie Hansen pretty rely.
- 14:19Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 14:19Speaker 2: Yeah, that was before Charlie Hansen was Charlie Hansome.
- 14:22Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, I mean those kids were and.
- 14:24Speaker 2: They had they had they had like three records on
- 14:27Speaker 2: sound three or four.
- 14:28Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, yeah, but that was like he was doing
- 14:30Speaker 1: what iverson and all that, you know what I'm saying.
- 14:33Speaker 2: Yeah, one more, But.
- 14:34Speaker 1: He wasn't doing like, he wasn't doing the ship that
- 14:38Speaker 1: I was doing, you know what I mean. And then
- 14:39Speaker 1: it got to a point where it was just negative.
- 14:43Speaker 1: I was being negative on that ship. It was just
- 14:45Speaker 1: like a bunch of like it was just a bunch
- 14:47Speaker 1: of static between us, you know what I'm saying. And
- 14:50Speaker 1: I was trying to figure the ship.
- 14:51Speaker 2: It was it one sided though, because was there what
- 14:53Speaker 2: did he didn't I'm sure he didn't have static towards you.
- 14:56Speaker 1: Of course he did.
- 14:56Speaker 2: He did, Okay, black ball, I didn't know that.
- 14:59Speaker 1: You go around back balling me. He took fucking he
- 15:01Speaker 1: took my agent. He done. He did everything to like
- 15:04Speaker 1: really try to go out of his way. Him and
- 15:06Speaker 1: his team, they did everything they could realize. Yeah, bro,
- 15:09Speaker 1: like I deal with that ship till this day. I
- 15:10Speaker 1: deal with that ship, you know what I mean? And whatever,
- 15:14Speaker 1: we saw each other at the award show, Jelly Roll
- 15:16Speaker 1: came up to me and said, what up? Because he's
- 15:17Speaker 1: a real one and he was sitting right next to me.
- 15:19Speaker 1: They had his both front row with at the thing,
- 15:22Speaker 1: and he wouldn't looked at me. Dog, you know what
- 15:24Speaker 1: I'm saying. You know what time? It is like if
- 15:26Speaker 1: he was a real one, he knew he would be like, Yo,
- 15:28Speaker 1: what up? Like chop it up?
- 15:29Speaker 2: But you guys haven't had any combos, no, bro.
- 15:31Speaker 1: He just he's a certified weirdough you know what I mean.
- 15:34Speaker 1: And it's just like I don't give a fuck about
- 15:36Speaker 1: that ship. The day I said the day because like
- 15:39Speaker 1: there was a story about him. His plane couldn't land
- 15:43Speaker 1: and he was about to like fucking die or some shit,
- 15:46Speaker 1: and I was like, damn, Like I prayed for him.
- 15:48Speaker 1: I called my mother because my mom was a Muslim woman,
- 15:50Speaker 1: and I told her to say prayer for him because
- 15:53Speaker 1: I like, really, I would never want any bad shit
- 15:55Speaker 1: to happen anyone. I don't move that way. I'm like,
- 15:57Speaker 1: I'm I'm a child of light, you know what I mean.
- 16:00Speaker 1: So when I found the plane, landed, and like I
- 16:02Speaker 1: said to myself, like, yo, bro, like I never want
- 16:04Speaker 1: to deal with the ship again. I'm a dead this shit, Like,
- 16:07Speaker 1: I never want to deal with that shit. And that's
- 16:09Speaker 1: the same month I got my record deal. And that's
- 16:11Speaker 1: the same month to Rock Nation and RCA and then
- 16:15Speaker 1: I signed for millions of dollars and my life changed
- 16:18Speaker 1: because I debdit that situation. I felt like I was like,
- 16:21Speaker 1: let me move in this new direction, changed my sound up,
- 16:25Speaker 1: changed everything. But every time I changed my sound up,
- 16:28Speaker 1: it would be same ship. And then I'd be like, damn,
- 16:32Speaker 1: I do the fucking this. He does do this? To
- 16:34Speaker 1: do that? Do this?
- 16:35Speaker 2: He didn't do eighties though, did he?
- 16:37Speaker 1: Yes?
- 16:38Speaker 2: Oh, I don't remember.
- 16:38Speaker 1: Did the eighties ship? Did the country ship? I know?
- 16:41Speaker 2: I think you did the eighties thing? And that I
- 16:43Speaker 2: remember right after Torri did it and Toy did a
- 16:46Speaker 2: great job there.
- 16:47Speaker 1: And me and Tory got into it too because he
- 16:48Speaker 1: was using my clips that's promo and I was like, yo,
- 16:51Speaker 1: why are you using my clips? And he came at
- 16:53Speaker 1: me in my DM and I was like, bro, look,
- 16:55Speaker 1: I don't want to start. No.
- 16:56Speaker 2: Both of them, both of your All's albums were fire.
- 16:58Speaker 1: Yeah, one hundred percent. I like what you're Your.
- 17:00Speaker 2: Album was, Man, I remember me and my artist Alexis
- 17:03Speaker 2: because yeah, we love that album.
- 17:06Speaker 1: Thank you.
- 17:06Speaker 2: That's why that's my favorite body of work that you
- 17:08Speaker 2: put out.
- 17:08Speaker 1: I think I appreciate it, like, man, thank you. I
- 17:10Speaker 1: ain't get no push on that, you know.
- 17:11Speaker 2: You know what's crazy about that album is like I
- 17:13Speaker 2: feel like I love the Tory album, but it sounds
- 17:16Speaker 2: like it was made. It was like someone making an
- 17:19Speaker 2: eighties album in twenty twenty five, yeah, or twenty twenty three.
- 17:22Speaker 1: Yeah, twenty twenty whenever it was twenty.
- 17:24Speaker 2: Twenty your album. It felt like if you've got into
- 17:26Speaker 2: a time machine and you just press play on the radio.
- 17:30Speaker 2: It sounded like the fucking eighties it.
- 17:33Speaker 1: I mean, that's why I tried to do with Brooklyn
- 17:34Speaker 1: Cowboy too, that country album. You know. It's like the
- 17:37Speaker 1: thing is is like when you're making a body of work,
- 17:39Speaker 1: like you need to live that shit, right, you understand.
- 17:42Speaker 1: That's why when you're like, yo, you haven't been that
- 17:44Speaker 1: lay in a while, it's because yeah, I dealt with
- 17:45Speaker 1: family shit. But at the same time, I had to
- 17:47Speaker 1: go to stant Island, right, I had to live in
- 17:50Speaker 1: stand Island. I had to go to the gym and
- 17:52Speaker 1: Stanton Island. I have to like do the stand Island
- 17:54Speaker 1: shit to be in New York, to be like, Yo,
- 17:57Speaker 1: this is what Wu Tang was going through, like to
- 17:59Speaker 1: make this, because it's like I need to have a
- 18:02Speaker 1: full experience to make a whole project like that. You
- 18:04Speaker 1: know what I'm saying.
- 18:05Speaker 2: Yeah, during the country shit, you were running around probably Nashville.
- 18:08Speaker 1: No fuck that, I ain't do that. No, I ain't
- 18:10Speaker 1: do that. That's what he That's what they did. They
- 18:12Speaker 1: went to fucking Nashville and got every feature in fucking Nashville.
- 18:16Speaker 1: To make yourself look good. I went to fucking muscle
- 18:19Speaker 1: shows Alabama. If you guys don't know muscle shows Alabama.
- 18:23Speaker 1: Watched the documentary The Rolling Stones, Aretha Franklin, all the greats,
- 18:28Speaker 1: every single hit we ever loved was recorded in this
- 18:30Speaker 1: place called muscle shows. And I fucking did that shit. Bro.
- 18:35Speaker 1: I'm so happy that I went there and I recorded
- 18:38Speaker 1: Brooklyn Cowboy muscle Shows, and I drove straight to Brooklyn
- 18:40Speaker 1: from that and made Brooklyn Cowboy. You know what I'm saying.
- 18:43Speaker 1: The hats are so dope. Put the Yankee logo on
- 18:45Speaker 1: the fucking cowboy hat and it sold so much, so
- 18:48Speaker 1: many hats, you know what I'm saying.
- 18:50Speaker 2: Yeah, you're like I think I feel like, you know,
- 18:54Speaker 2: you got too many records, Like I think of like safety,
- 18:56Speaker 2: like safeties. I got a fucking joint.
- 19:00Speaker 1: Could how did not go to radio with that with
- 19:03Speaker 1: Chris Brown on that? You know what I'm saying, It
- 19:06Speaker 1: is what it is. Safety creep on me changed my life.
- 19:09Speaker 1: You know, I got like twelve gold records.
- 19:11Speaker 2: That's a lot, dude.
- 19:12Speaker 1: Yeah, I never had a hit though I got twelve
- 19:14Speaker 1: gold records.
- 19:15Speaker 2: To I mean, even like my year, I feel like
- 19:17Speaker 2: should have been like a big scene. I mean, was
- 19:18Speaker 2: it a big single sink record for you? I feel
- 19:20Speaker 2: like I saw.
- 19:20Speaker 1: It got paid. You know what I'm saying. My year
- 19:26Speaker 1: it's weird because I always have this luck where like
- 19:28Speaker 1: my music hits the sports right.
- 19:30Speaker 2: Yeah, about to say, I remember seeing it on the sports.
- 19:32Speaker 1: Yeah. So when Toronto won, they played my year. They
- 19:35Speaker 1: ain't play no drag record, they played my ship. When
- 19:37Speaker 1: Yankee started their season, they played my year. So my
- 19:41Speaker 1: year was played. It's been something they play all the time,
- 19:44Speaker 1: you know what I mean. It's like it's like I'm
- 19:46Speaker 1: Mariah Carey of New Year's with that shit. You know,
- 19:49Speaker 1: it's like really cool because they play it every New Year's.
- 19:51Speaker 1: I see the streams jump up, you know. And recently
- 19:54Speaker 1: I did a song with Whiskey Leaf called Better, and
- 19:57Speaker 1: every game the Knicks used to hype before the game.
- 20:02Speaker 1: So I'm at when I said there at the games,
- 20:03Speaker 1: I'm like, damn, this is really my song and I'm
- 20:05Speaker 1: doing it independently.
- 20:06Speaker 2: You know, have you got to hang out with Gorilla
- 20:08Speaker 2: Nems out there in New York yet?
- 20:10Speaker 1: No? I haven't.
- 20:11Speaker 2: Man, Look, you mentioned the Knicks. I'm je like you
- 20:13Speaker 2: guys got I feel like you guys are like you
- 20:15Speaker 2: and Ems hanging out in Coney Island. That's my guy.
- 20:19Speaker 2: He's the most hilarious motherfucker alive. And he's also like
- 20:23Speaker 2: just an amazing artist, Like really, but he's he's fucking hilarious.
- 20:26Speaker 1: Yeah, I've seen him a few times.
- 20:28Speaker 2: Man, he's a rapper.
- 20:29Speaker 1: We never really have a conversation, but like, I respect
- 20:33Speaker 1: what he does. I remember where I was. I was
- 20:34Speaker 1: in like Texas or some shit. I ran to Paul
- 20:38Speaker 1: Rosenberg and he was telling me about Oh.
- 20:41Speaker 2: Yeah, because Rosenberg signed MS took Aliath.
- 20:44Speaker 1: Yeah, he was telling me. I mean, I love it, man,
- 20:46Speaker 1: I think I think I love the fact that like
- 20:49Speaker 1: he does him, he's in his own world. And I
- 20:52Speaker 1: don't know too much, but from what I heard where
- 20:54Speaker 1: I see the freestyles and stuff, you got bars, he's
- 20:56Speaker 1: super dope.
- 20:57Speaker 2: So what is I guess? You know with this album?
- 21:01Speaker 2: Would you say sonically it's very much like nineties?
- 21:06Speaker 1: Yeah, it's nineties, but it's still new. I got some
- 21:09Speaker 1: I got newer ship too on there, just because I
- 21:11Speaker 1: need the streams. Yeah, Like I got a song called
- 21:13Speaker 1: Rings okay with Gez on there because it's like I
- 21:16Speaker 1: want to.
- 21:17Speaker 2: Get And he was out in New York too for
- 21:18Speaker 2: he Yeah, I think he just left. Yeah he was
- 21:20Speaker 2: out there for like.
- 21:21Speaker 1: At least a year.
- 21:22Speaker 2: Yeah he got another apartment Okay, I saw he moved
- 21:24Speaker 2: down in his apartments. I don't know if he got
- 21:26Speaker 2: a new one.
- 21:28Speaker 1: He lives out here too. Yeah. Rings kind of different
- 21:32Speaker 1: than I got a song called London with Gigs on there.
- 21:35Speaker 1: That's not New York. It's just but I need these
- 21:38Speaker 1: records for people that don't listen to Griselda all the time,
- 21:42Speaker 1: don't listen to Alchemists.
- 21:44Speaker 2: Well, and then you have like a worldly audience too.
- 21:46Speaker 1: Yeah, you know what I'm saying. All the European show,
- 21:48Speaker 1: all my European shows sold out, you know what I mean.
- 21:50Speaker 1: Like that's what that's where the money's at. So I
- 21:52Speaker 1: got to still feed them that ship that they liked
- 21:55Speaker 1: in my years and all that. But majority of the album,
- 21:57Speaker 1: it's all like I produce the majority of the ship.
- 22:00Speaker 1: Oh you made the beats too, Yeah, it's just all
- 22:02Speaker 1: like simple samples. It just loops me wrapping on them.
- 22:04Speaker 2: Nope, not a lot of drums.
- 22:06Speaker 1: Not not a lot of drums, no hooks either.
- 22:09Speaker 2: That's the new ship.
- 22:10Speaker 1: Yeah, it's just me rapping.
- 22:11Speaker 2: Man, It's just like and then I guess it's not
- 22:13Speaker 2: that new now because then this has been cracking for
- 22:15Speaker 2: so long.
- 22:16Speaker 1: Yeah, and then it's me introducing my favorite rapper too,
- 22:19Speaker 1: you know what I mean.
- 22:19Speaker 2: They got Banks.
- 22:21Speaker 1: Yeah, he's the fucking I think Jimmy I put Jimmy Banks.
- 22:25Speaker 1: I think Jimmy Banks is better than any rapp in
- 22:27Speaker 1: New York right now period. Dope. I put him against
- 22:30Speaker 1: anybody like like it's it's it's a no brainer, like
- 22:34Speaker 1: this man crazy? Yeah, Yeah, what.
- 22:36Speaker 2: Is uh for you?
- 22:37Speaker 1: Man?
- 22:38Speaker 2: Like you obviously.
- 22:39Speaker 1: You know.
- 22:40Speaker 2: You come from immigrant parents.
- 22:42Speaker 1: You know.
- 22:44Speaker 2: You are somebody who you know was not born in
- 22:47Speaker 2: the United States but change your life by moving here.
- 22:50Speaker 2: What do you What is your take on what's going
- 22:51Speaker 2: on with all this mass deportation.
- 22:53Speaker 1: Ship going on us? Heartless and crazy. I don't fuck
- 22:58Speaker 1: with it. I think it's terrible. I saw this video, man,
- 23:02Speaker 1: That shit brought me to tears. There was this girl
- 23:04Speaker 1: screaming at her mom from a gate, telling her she's
- 23:07Speaker 1: gonna get her out and bring her back. And I mean, bro,
- 23:11Speaker 1: like it breaks my heart. And it's because it hits home.
- 23:15Speaker 1: You know. I was born in Libya, bro, and we
- 23:18Speaker 1: were trying to get into America for so fucking long, bro,
- 23:21Speaker 1: And every time we hit a country where they didn't
- 23:23Speaker 1: accept us as refugees, we would be sent back. So
- 23:26Speaker 1: it's like a video game and you'd have to start
- 23:28Speaker 1: all over again.
- 23:28Speaker 2: Should they tend you back to Libya?
- 23:30Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 23:30Speaker 2: And this is Goodafi's Libya? Yeah Yeah.
- 23:33Speaker 1: And you know what I'm saying, Like, Bro, my parents
- 23:37Speaker 1: never decided to go to America. I would probably be
- 23:40Speaker 1: a Muslim man married with kids right now in Libya.
- 23:42Speaker 1: Like my life would never be signing to jay z
- 23:45Speaker 1: RCA putting out these records, like right, I grew up
- 23:48Speaker 1: on Arabic music, right, all my melodies are Arabic, you
- 23:51Speaker 1: know what I'm saying. And I'm Albani and I'm not
- 23:53Speaker 1: even right right, right, right, right, this is crazy, Like,
- 23:57Speaker 1: you know, I can't believe it. I just feel like
- 23:59Speaker 1: you got to believe in God, man, like I believe
- 24:01Speaker 1: in God so much, because it's like I had to
- 24:03Speaker 1: be here, like I was a mistake. My mother didn't
- 24:07Speaker 1: even know she was gonna have me, you know what
- 24:08Speaker 1: I'm saying. She found out they issued my dad was like, nah,
- 24:10Speaker 1: you know, we can't have them, and she ended up
- 24:14Speaker 1: having me on the kitchen floor in Libya in like
- 24:16Speaker 1: a big refugee building, you know what I'm saying. And
- 24:18Speaker 1: then from there I just feel like I changed that life,
- 24:24Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying, Like this it was meant
- 24:25Speaker 1: to be, you know what I mean.
- 24:26Speaker 2: Yeah, I think it's just sad because there's just so
- 24:28Speaker 2: much like there's like zero nuance or context. It feels
- 24:31Speaker 2: like put into any of these people getting like swept
- 24:33Speaker 2: off the street outside of you know, maybe they're saying
- 24:37Speaker 2: things about a foreign country that we're not allowed to
- 24:39Speaker 2: say anymore. I guess, but it's kind of messed up
- 24:43Speaker 2: twild times we're living.
- 24:44Speaker 1: I was supposed to have my best friend come meet
- 24:45Speaker 1: me to go to Coachella with me from Germany and
- 24:49Speaker 1: they have a list like they're not letting people in
- 24:51Speaker 1: from Germany. Oh shit, not letting people in from certain countries.
- 24:54Speaker 1: And it's just weird. I don't understand it.
- 24:56Speaker 2: That's get into Did you go to Coachella this past weekend? Nah,
- 24:58Speaker 2: you're going this weekend.
- 25:00Speaker 1: I was supposed to because I was supposed to be
- 25:02Speaker 1: a few things. Yeah, you know, shout out to my publicist,
- 25:05Speaker 1: you know, Forefront Group. You know, they were supposed to
- 25:10Speaker 1: get me a bunch of shit.
- 25:11Speaker 2: And you've done Coachella, right.
- 25:13Speaker 1: Uh? No, I I was supposed to do it. I
- 25:16Speaker 1: didn't do it, Okay. I kind of just been waiting
- 25:21Speaker 1: for me to have my moment, you know what I
- 25:23Speaker 1: man to have, like the Jelly Roll moment, the fucking
- 25:27Speaker 1: moment of like the Doja Cat moment.
- 25:30Speaker 2: Yeah, the Jelly Roll thing, Like I'm really I've been
- 25:32Speaker 2: friends with Jelly since like twenty and eleven or twelve
- 25:35Speaker 2: something like that, and uh, you know, I would always
- 25:37Speaker 2: tell that full like you know, as soon as people
- 25:43Speaker 2: anyone who meets him loves him, and he's always been
- 25:45Speaker 2: he's always been the same guy. So it's like like, hey, dude,
- 25:48Speaker 2: as soon as you fuck it the world meets you,
- 25:50Speaker 2: it's over, you know what I mean.
- 25:52Speaker 1: Yeah, Yeah, he's amazing. Yeah, No, he's he he he
- 25:56Speaker 1: linked up in Nashville.
- 25:57Speaker 2: He's gonna be as I just told him, Like I
- 25:59Speaker 2: was like, you're gonna the white Snoop Dogg bro.
- 26:01Speaker 1: Yeah, because you know why, that's a crazy, yo, that's crazy.
- 26:05Speaker 2: He's the white Snoop And like, like it doesn't even
- 26:07Speaker 2: matter musically what happens, He's always going to just be,
- 26:12Speaker 2: like he's gonna be. Just being him is good enough
- 26:15Speaker 2: for him to be straight for like Snoop Dogg, Like
- 26:17Speaker 2: he's being able to get bags just for being like
- 26:19Speaker 2: it's crazy, like he just got an American bag.
- 26:21Speaker 1: You said that, man, that's a bro. You know what
- 26:23Speaker 1: you're talking about. It's so dope. It's because his name
- 26:25Speaker 1: matches him. Yeah, Snoop Dogg matches Snoop like you put
- 26:28Speaker 1: the name to the face. It's like the branding is
- 26:31Speaker 1: so perfect.
- 26:32Speaker 2: Yeah, And like his story is so crazy, like if
- 26:34Speaker 2: you know him, like and just the shit he went
- 26:36Speaker 2: through and like the drug shit and yeah, yeah shit
- 26:38Speaker 2: with his daughter. It's just beautiful to see. But yeah,
- 26:41Speaker 2: like you said, I feel like you've had you've been closed.
- 26:42Speaker 2: I mean it's it's interesting though, because you are so
- 26:44Speaker 2: big outside of the US in terms of like Europe,
- 26:47Speaker 2: Like you're massive, dude, So like, what is your biggest
- 26:50Speaker 2: A market outside of the States.
- 26:53Speaker 1: Germany Parish? Yeah, got Kosovo, Albania, everything in Europe from London,
- 27:03Speaker 1: they're always top listeners, you know.
- 27:05Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm sure Cosovo Albania has got to be fun
- 27:08Speaker 2: to go to and go back to the homeland. It's
- 27:10Speaker 2: like you Action, Bronx and Dualipa. Yeah yeah, I think
- 27:13Speaker 2: that's the big three. Yeah.
- 27:15Speaker 1: Yeah, shout out to Bronson, man, I love him, that's
- 27:17Speaker 1: my guy. I just love my country, you know what
- 27:21Speaker 1: I'm saying. I love my people. I love my women too,
- 27:24Speaker 1: Like the alband girls, like some of the most beautiful
- 27:26Speaker 1: women you have ever seen in your life, you know, yeah,
- 27:29Speaker 1: being women. It's like, yeah, it's like I love allband girls.
- 27:33Speaker 1: You know, they're the best.
- 27:35Speaker 2: Why why did you name it the Killer Whales of Gotham.
- 27:40Speaker 1: I named the album the Killer Whales of Gotham because
- 27:43Speaker 1: I saw Wales in New York City and I didn't
- 27:46Speaker 1: know we had Wales by the Statute of Liberty, right,
- 27:50Speaker 1: And my whole new shit is fuck sea World because
- 27:54Speaker 1: the labels of Sea World, you know. And I felt
- 27:56Speaker 1: like I was Willie bro I was being contained my
- 27:58Speaker 1: whole career, right. I love that. Yeah, And I need
- 28:01Speaker 1: to find a way to jump over that wall and
- 28:03Speaker 1: be free from all this bullshit telling me what to do.
- 28:06Speaker 1: Is A and R is are artists that never made.
- 28:07Speaker 2: It, yeah, and they all have their own.
- 28:11Speaker 1: Ulterior motives exactly so they failed and they want to
- 28:14Speaker 1: see you fail, so they feel good about it for sure.
- 28:17Speaker 1: And I was like, fuck this ship, man, I gotta
- 28:22Speaker 1: get out of here. But I thought, how dope would
- 28:23Speaker 1: it be if there was Killer Whales and Gotham, New York.
- 28:28Speaker 1: So I came up with the whole you know, it's
- 28:30Speaker 1: a shark invested fucking business man. How sick would it
- 28:33Speaker 1: be when the Killers Killer Wales come around and all
- 28:36Speaker 1: the sharks run away? You know? So the Killer wells Gotham.
- 28:38Speaker 1: I started a group all my favorite rappers in New
- 28:41Speaker 1: York that I grew up with or in the group
- 28:42Speaker 1: called the Killer Welles's dope. Yeah, I love that.
- 28:46Speaker 2: So you're going to do like a are you going
- 28:48Speaker 2: to do like a whole project eventually?
- 28:51Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean we do a whole project. Like it's
- 28:54Speaker 1: about putting people along, you know, huh, you never know,
- 28:58Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying, But it's about putting people on.
- 29:00Speaker 1: I mean, last time we seen that was ASAP for sure, it's.
- 29:03Speaker 2: Been a while. Yeah, it's I mean Griselda to Yeah, obviously,
- 29:06Speaker 2: Griselda's a crew label.
- 29:07Speaker 1: You know that.
- 29:08Speaker 2: Everybody has had a lot of success on In terms
- 29:11Speaker 2: of the main three guys.
- 29:12Speaker 1: I love Griselda, man, I think, I think. I think
- 29:16Speaker 1: Griselda and Doci made me want to rap again too.
- 29:20Speaker 2: Yeah, because Doci's an alien.
- 29:23Speaker 1: Yeah, she's fucking dope. She's so talented, so talented, she's
- 29:26Speaker 1: so dope. Everything about her is just a one. She's
- 29:28Speaker 1: dope and her team is incredible.
- 29:31Speaker 2: When you look back at your albums twenty sixteen with
- 29:34Speaker 2: Stairs all the way to now, what's your favorite project?
- 29:41Speaker 1: I think my favorite album is nineteen eighty four.
- 29:44Speaker 2: It's a great album.
- 29:45Speaker 1: Thank you man. I loved that album a lot. I
- 29:47Speaker 1: was very confident on that album. And then I would
- 29:52Speaker 1: think the new one, Killa Well is a Gotham is
- 29:54Speaker 1: going to end up being my favorite one, even though Brooklyn,
- 29:56Speaker 1: Cowboy Elevators, all of them are so dope. But like
- 29:59Speaker 1: this new one, and it's just.
- 30:00Speaker 2: What was the most successful one?
- 30:02Speaker 1: Got you? Yeah? The self titled Yes, because they put
- 30:05Speaker 1: money behind it. That's the first one.
- 30:07Speaker 2: Yeah, your biggest records are on that one.
- 30:09Speaker 1: Yeah, like two hundred million. A lot of every song
- 30:14Speaker 1: on there is over one hundred million.
- 30:16Speaker 2: That what you're I forget what you what you're doing
- 30:18Speaker 2: to drop the four from your name?
- 30:20Speaker 1: Oh? Twenty eighteen, I signed to him, though, like you
- 30:22Speaker 1: need to take the party name G four. She I
- 30:27Speaker 1: was the first one to put a four on my name,
- 30:29Speaker 1: you know what I mean a lot of artists now
- 30:30Speaker 1: they put fours in their name, do they? Yeah? I
- 30:32Speaker 1: don't know, dud Joey Franchise.
- 30:35Speaker 2: Of course, shout out to my brother.
- 30:36Speaker 1: Joey Franchise played my new record on the radio.
- 30:38Speaker 2: In Tampa and Wild ninety four one. I do nights there.
- 30:41Speaker 2: I'm the night show there.
- 30:42Speaker 1: Really, yeah, man, shout out to Joey Man, that's the
- 30:45Speaker 1: first dude to ever put me on the fucking.
- 30:47Speaker 2: The Hertford goat right there, yeah, Connecticut.
- 30:50Speaker 1: G Yeah, that's the first dude to put me on
- 30:54Speaker 1: on Uh.
- 30:55Speaker 2: He is a serious sneaker fetish that I feel like, Uh,
- 30:58Speaker 2: the tariffs are going to fact.
- 31:00Speaker 1: Yeah, it's crazy because like we used to go around
- 31:04Speaker 1: because I went to school in Massachusetts.
- 31:05Speaker 2: So where'd you go? You mass right?
- 31:07Speaker 1: I went to you mask, got left there after a
- 31:09Speaker 1: year and I went to a c I met Joey
- 31:11Speaker 1: and he like put me on his radio show.
- 31:15Speaker 2: He's doing radio in Boston, yeah too, yeah.
- 31:16Speaker 1: Yeah, And then we went to Connecticut. He put me
- 31:18Speaker 1: on the radio in Connecticut. Good guy. Joey's the real one. Man. Like,
- 31:22Speaker 1: there's nothing for me to say except for show love
- 31:25Speaker 1: because he's just a real, real, real solid dude and
- 31:28Speaker 1: he's been supporting me since I shout out to Joey franchise.
- 31:31Speaker 2: Yo, you can you tell me what it was like
- 31:34Speaker 2: torn with Cardi back then?
- 31:35Speaker 1: I mean, let me tell you, bro, Like the Cardi
- 31:38Speaker 1: I know now and see now, I don't know how
- 31:41Speaker 1: recognized I went there, but look, bro, I've toured with
- 31:49Speaker 1: this guy named black Bear.
- 31:51Speaker 2: Shout out to black Bear, very talented.
- 31:53Speaker 1: Yeah, he's a bitch, And I think it's so crazy
- 31:55Speaker 1: because he's the biggest hater ever.
- 31:57Speaker 2: Yeah, he lost a lot of weight, he got his
- 32:00Speaker 2: drug addiction under control from IC.
- 32:02Speaker 1: I don't know, I don't give a fuck. Okay, he's
- 32:04Speaker 1: pussy And I think it's so crazy the fact that,
- 32:06Speaker 1: like he we killed the show so bad. He made
- 32:10Speaker 1: like security guards take shits in my green room, used
- 32:13Speaker 1: the towels and abused me until I had to like
- 32:16Speaker 1: say something. He turned the lights off on the show
- 32:19Speaker 1: because everybody would like come to see me, and then
- 32:21Speaker 1: after the show they would leave. Yeah here, they'd fucking leave.
- 32:25Speaker 1: And he hated it, and his management was like, well,
- 32:28Speaker 1: we made a mistake having him opened up. We should
- 32:30Speaker 1: have gotten somebody that was not as popping. And it
- 32:33Speaker 1: was just rude, you know what I'm saying. And he
- 32:34Speaker 1: would do things that well here was that like I
- 32:37Speaker 1: don't know two that was nineteen or something, and so
- 32:42Speaker 1: what show we were at Philly turned all the lights
- 32:44Speaker 1: off while I was performing on stage. That embarrassed me
- 32:47Speaker 1: and I ended up falling and hurting my kney really bad.
- 32:52Speaker 1: Almost told my acl and I decided to walk off
- 32:57Speaker 1: that tour, and he tried to as team and with
- 33:00Speaker 1: like trying to like get me to like be cool
- 33:04Speaker 1: and just be like, hey, we're sorry and trying to
- 33:06Speaker 1: make me a bottle and whatever apologize to me. And
- 33:10Speaker 1: it was just like, nah, bro, you cross the line.
- 33:12Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying the whole tour. You were
- 33:13Speaker 1: doing that.
- 33:13Speaker 2: At the whole tour.
- 33:14Speaker 1: You abused me the whole tour. And I was trying
- 33:16Speaker 1: to be cool because I was just thankful to be.
- 33:18Speaker 2: There, just to be there, yeah, because yeah, twenty nineteen,
- 33:20Speaker 2: it was a good year for him.
- 33:21Speaker 1: And good year for me, you know, and he was
- 33:24Speaker 1: just not He was just not a good person, you
- 33:27Speaker 1: know what I'm saying. And I'm over it. Obviously. I
- 33:30Speaker 1: don't care. I don't even give a fuck about that shit.
- 33:32Speaker 1: But you know, I'm not going to sit here and
- 33:33Speaker 1: be like play the fucking card of being like politically
- 33:37Speaker 1: correct or whatever, like just play the card to be
- 33:39Speaker 1: a nice guy, like fuck him, you know what I'm saying.
- 33:41Speaker 1: But then the opposite is like Playboy CARDI. You got
- 33:45Speaker 1: a kid who's like three years younger than me and
- 33:49Speaker 1: brings me on tour let's me open up for him
- 33:52Speaker 1: in Europe and was the sweetest man in the world.
- 33:56Speaker 1: Playbook Cardi is the sweetest man in the world. He's
- 33:58Speaker 1: so real. It's mad bitches. Like I remember, I was
- 34:02Speaker 1: in the other green room at the time. I ain't
- 34:04Speaker 1: really have money. It was just me and my DJ
- 34:06Speaker 1: and he came in with his whole squad rolled the
- 34:08Speaker 1: blunt up was like, yo, here's a blunt for you.
- 34:10Speaker 1: And then he was he came in with mad bitches
- 34:12Speaker 1: and he was she was He's like, which one you like?
- 34:13Speaker 1: And I was like, oh, you know, it's cool, Like
- 34:16Speaker 1: we cool. And he's like, y'all I need you to
- 34:18Speaker 1: like like pointed at the girls, like y'all need you
- 34:20Speaker 1: to fuck my man. It's like, god us mad pussy,
- 34:22Speaker 1: he got us weed, he got us drenks like serving
- 34:25Speaker 1: you up. I like that. Carti's like so real, bro,
- 34:28Speaker 1: Playboo Cardi is like, look, bro, there's a lot of rappers,
- 34:31Speaker 1: new rappers that don't live that life like Playboy Cardi
- 34:34Speaker 1: lives that life really fly, really cool, really dope, really
- 34:40Speaker 1: a real man, and he doesn't hate. It's not the
- 34:42Speaker 1: bro bro. I never felt no hate even when I
- 34:46Speaker 1: killed it. I'm telling you right now. CARDI knows. There
- 34:48Speaker 1: was some nights where people left and he was performing,
- 34:52Speaker 1: like nobody. I literally killed that.
- 34:55Speaker 2: Ship and then people were leaving.
- 34:56Speaker 1: He performing, Bro, he would not hate nothing. He would
- 34:59Speaker 1: finish the He come up with me, brother, you killed
- 35:01Speaker 1: that ship, bo, like showed me mad love and and
- 35:04Speaker 1: I think that's what a real artist is. That's why
- 35:07Speaker 1: he's where he's at.
- 35:09Speaker 2: Yeah, he's he's on. You know, his whole thing is
- 35:12Speaker 2: so crazy. We saw him wrong loud and it.
- 35:14Speaker 1: Was like he's so fire man. So you know, it's
- 35:17Speaker 1: like that experience was so dope because now watching him
- 35:21Speaker 1: become this huge star, it's like I'm not surprised.
- 35:24Speaker 2: But he's also like he's a big start. I mean
- 35:27Speaker 2: I think he's like four or five weeks straight at
- 35:29Speaker 2: number one or something. Yeah, but he's also still underground.
- 35:32Speaker 1: I know.
- 35:33Speaker 2: It's like he's still underground as fuck. Like you know
- 35:36Speaker 2: what I'm saying, Like he really like his music is
- 35:38Speaker 2: still very like acquired types of kids. He's just got
- 35:41Speaker 2: the kids, bro.
- 35:41Speaker 1: Like, yeah, he's doing it right though, you know he's
- 35:43Speaker 1: doing it right for sure. Yeah, but like, yeah, that
- 35:48Speaker 1: was a good experience, and I started doing my own tours,
- 35:50Speaker 1: you know, and I just feel like it's been a
- 35:55Speaker 1: while since open up for like for a big artist
- 35:58Speaker 1: to me whatever, and I kind of just been doing
- 36:00Speaker 1: my own ship, touring my own shit, and it feels
- 36:03Speaker 1: good to just be a hard ticket sales act, you
- 36:06Speaker 1: know what I'm saying. That's what my idea is is
- 36:08Speaker 1: like people be like, Yo, why why is it Why
- 36:11Speaker 1: is it such a big deal to sell hard tickets?
- 36:12Speaker 1: It is because it's hard, Yeah, Like it ain't easy,
- 36:15Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying.
- 36:16Speaker 2: Yeah, it's like the difference between like having those numbers
- 36:19Speaker 2: we talked about earlier, were people listening with their eyes
- 36:23Speaker 2: if they're not. If they're listening with their eyes only,
- 36:25Speaker 2: they ain't coming to fucking buy a ticket to see
- 36:27Speaker 2: your ass.
- 36:28Speaker 1: That's what I'm saying is people don't understand, Like, Bro,
- 36:30Speaker 1: there's a band called there's a band. It's a fucking
- 36:38Speaker 1: band that I recently, not recently with whatever. I listened
- 36:42Speaker 1: to them like years ago, and this fucking band was
- 36:47Speaker 1: at like five hundred thousand monthly listeners. But they were
- 36:51Speaker 1: selling fucking stadiums and they were selling like arenas, like
- 36:54Speaker 1: doing fucking big rooms and that ship don't mean nothing, bro, Like,
- 37:02Speaker 1: if you can sell tickets, that's what it means. Like
- 37:04Speaker 1: I'm trying to do like the Suicide Boys, like.
- 37:06Speaker 2: Oh yeahming it. You know they're doing they're doing uh
- 37:09Speaker 2: you know they're doing arenas.
- 37:10Speaker 1: Yeah, fuck with them, bro, like them. Shout out to them,
- 37:13Speaker 1: like you know what I'm saying, and it's just.
- 37:14Speaker 2: Now movement pooh yah and uh yeah Fat Nicks my dog.
- 37:19Speaker 1: Yeah yeah yeah, I like Fat Nick. That's only has
- 37:22Speaker 1: a little peep. I love that show.
- 37:23Speaker 2: Yeah, that's my boy brother. Dont guys, I just saw that. Actually,
- 37:27Speaker 2: me and Ot just went to a show.
- 37:29Speaker 1: In la At.
- 37:29Speaker 2: Uh fuck, what's the show in k Town? The Wiltern.
- 37:34Speaker 1: Yeah, fuck with them, they dope. Man, shows are important.
- 37:39Speaker 1: We're building the ship, building the whole ship. I think
- 37:42Speaker 1: that's that's what we're doing right now. And it just
- 37:47Speaker 1: feels good to be out here after sixteen years, you
- 37:49Speaker 1: know what I'm saying. Still doing that, still putting projects out,
- 37:52Speaker 1: still having the fan base. We sold out Toronto a
- 37:55Speaker 1: few days ago. Like, still doing that, still pushing it.
- 37:58Speaker 1: Don't it don't change?
- 38:00Speaker 2: Are you gonna do? Like, because I feel like when
- 38:02Speaker 2: you get into that country space, you're kind of like
- 38:05Speaker 2: in a whole new like ecosystem because it is its own.
- 38:09Speaker 2: I always tell people, like country music is very much
- 38:12Speaker 2: it's like own isolated industry away from I don't funk
- 38:17Speaker 2: with it because, like you know, it's like it's like
- 38:19Speaker 2: when we think of the music industry with the New
- 38:21Speaker 2: York in LA, but like all that shit don't matter.
- 38:23Speaker 2: You gotta go to fucking Main Street in Nashville.
- 38:25Speaker 1: There's all these I don't think I'll ever do country again, okay, period,
- 38:29Speaker 1: Like I don't like to sour taste in your mouth, Yeah,
- 38:31Speaker 1: I don't fuck with that, you know what I'm saying.
- 38:32Speaker 1: I don't like the I don't like the fact that
- 38:36Speaker 1: somebody called me a Puerto Rican cowboy and they didn't
- 38:40Speaker 1: try to hear me out anything. It felt really racist
- 38:43Speaker 1: when I was there. When I did go there, I
- 38:45Speaker 1: felt very unwelcomed the fact that, like I wasn't like
- 38:48Speaker 1: the typical white dude, you know what I mean. I
- 38:52Speaker 1: don't fuck with how racist A lot of the people,
- 38:55Speaker 1: not all, majority of the people in that genre of
- 38:58Speaker 1: racist as fuck, and I don't stand with it. I
- 39:02Speaker 1: don't fuck with it. That shit left such a bad taste.
- 39:06Speaker 1: I don't fuck with them. It is what it is.
- 39:08Speaker 1: I don't give a fuck about it. I love my music.
- 39:11Speaker 1: I love the fact that I tried it. It was awesome,
- 39:13Speaker 1: But I wasn't going to pack up and move there
- 39:15Speaker 1: and try to do all that weirdo shit, like, no way,
- 39:17Speaker 1: like that was just me doing. I've been doing all
- 39:20Speaker 1: different genres my whole career, so but that was the
- 39:23Speaker 1: only genre that I did. When I went there, it
- 39:25Speaker 1: felt super racist. It felt very unwelcome. And if you
- 39:28Speaker 1: think some fucking genres a gatekeepers, just.
- 39:31Speaker 2: Go over there and you know that's the gatekeeping, and yeah,
- 39:33Speaker 2: that's a gatekeeper. Country is very much a gatekeeper Colder.
- 39:36Speaker 1: Yeah. And it's like some people are cool as fuck.
- 39:37Speaker 1: There's artists there that I fuck with, like Jelly Row
- 39:40Speaker 1: and people like that. Those are the Jelly's a rapper,
- 39:42Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. So like he gets it,
- 39:44Speaker 1: but like a lot of them over there, very very
- 39:47Speaker 1: unwelcoming and made me feel like you feel me.
- 39:50Speaker 2: It's like if you go there and you're like chosen,
- 39:52Speaker 2: they'll put you in with the riders and did that.
- 39:54Speaker 2: They're there hand you a number one hit without even
- 39:57Speaker 2: like you even knowing what happened.
- 39:58Speaker 1: You know what I mean, I don't fuck with I
- 40:00Speaker 1: think it's fake. I don't fuck with it. I think
- 40:02Speaker 1: it's bullshit and it is what it is. I respect
- 40:04Speaker 1: the people there that this show me love. Shout out
- 40:06Speaker 1: to Shaboozi, shout out to the artists that this showed
- 40:09Speaker 1: me love and and fuck with me and said they
- 40:11Speaker 1: love my album. But you know all the gatekeepers and
- 40:14Speaker 1: all that saying the ship that they were saying about
- 40:17Speaker 1: me and the ship that I heard. You know what
- 40:18Speaker 1: I mean, I just like, I don't fuck with it.
- 40:20Speaker 2: The country is I can. I feel like it's in
- 40:21Speaker 2: a cool place now because it's like there is, like
- 40:24Speaker 2: the Shaboozies, there's there's a lot of like just dope songwriting.
- 40:29Speaker 2: I said that about country is the songwriting. Yeah, when
- 40:33Speaker 2: you listen to hip hop and you listen to country,
- 40:35Speaker 2: you're like, oh, there's actually like still because I feel
- 40:38Speaker 2: like a lot of hip hop's like the writing of songs.
- 40:41Speaker 1: Yeah, but culture wins for sure. What I'm saying like
- 40:45Speaker 1: country will never be hip hop no matter what, no, no, no,
- 40:48Speaker 1: for sure, it's like hip hop and rap music controls,
- 40:51Speaker 1: like controls the world and rules the world, and it's like.
- 40:54Speaker 2: Sh and Latin music rules the rule.
- 40:57Speaker 1: Yeah, but like all of that, it's in the same
- 40:59Speaker 1: kind of thing, and it's like no country is a
- 41:02Speaker 1: here thing, yes but whatever, Like you know what I'm saying,
- 41:05Speaker 1: it's just like.
- 41:05Speaker 2: Yo, but there is Like I just feel like the
- 41:08Speaker 2: songwriting is like some of these motherfuckers.
- 41:10Speaker 1: Like this just thought to sound the same, all of
- 41:12Speaker 1: it on the sound.
- 41:13Speaker 2: Have you heard of John Morland, the ball dude. He
- 41:15Speaker 2: looks like Bamban Bigelow.
- 41:16Speaker 1: He's tough. Probably. Yeah. I just got such a fucking
- 41:20Speaker 1: weird feeling. I just be skipping that ship now about
- 41:23Speaker 1: listening to it. I'm actually, you know what I'm saying,
- 41:25Speaker 1: doing everything that I might do it. Jack.
- 41:27Speaker 2: Do you do any of those songs on tour?
- 41:29Speaker 1: Yeah? Yeah, yeah, I just we did what's the fucking ship?
- 41:35Speaker 1: Santa Monica? Uh, I don't know. It's like iconic venue.
- 41:40Speaker 1: I don't know. Fucking there's so many right there on
- 41:44Speaker 1: Dohani and Santa Monica. It's like right on the corner.
- 41:47Speaker 1: It's a legendary, all the big dudes. I just sold
- 41:50Speaker 1: that out and performed only the country album, and people
- 41:54Speaker 1: love that fucking album. I've had people tell me like, ya,
- 41:56Speaker 1: I can't believe you're not a country for sure. Yeah,
- 41:59Speaker 1: thank you, Bro, And you know, a lot of the
- 42:01Speaker 1: shit went Bro. I did bigger numbers on brook My
- 42:03Speaker 1: Brooklyn Cowboy album independently than nineteen eighty four with Arcia Crazy.
- 42:08Speaker 2: Would you do another time Piece project?
- 42:11Speaker 1: Yeah, I am. I got a nineteen eighty nine album
- 42:13Speaker 1: coming out my birthday because everybody thought I eighty four
- 42:15Speaker 1: was my birthday. I'm like, nahs, you know what I'm saying.
- 42:17Speaker 2: But like, I mean, yeah, that's a five year jump
- 42:19Speaker 2: that you can kind of hear too in terms of
- 42:21Speaker 2: like where music was at. Yeah, from like eighty four
- 42:24Speaker 2: to eighty nine, like that.
- 42:25Speaker 1: Yeah, nineteen eighty nine I like that. I like that,
- 42:30Speaker 1: but it's like eighty four, it was the best.
- 42:32Speaker 2: Year ever for music you're saying for everything.
- 42:36Speaker 1: Michael Jordan got drafted first Apple commercial, Prince Purple, Rain Shade, Diamond, Ninja, Turtles,
- 42:51Speaker 1: Michael Jackson did it, eighty three popped off from the
- 42:54Speaker 1: eighty four, The biggest George Michael eighty four, forty album
- 43:01Speaker 1: by Van Helen, everything that was anything in culture with
- 43:06Speaker 1: nineteen eighty four. It changed our life forever, like nothing
- 43:09Speaker 1: will ever be the same after that year. So my
- 43:11Speaker 1: parents man got married that year, and I just felt like, yo,
- 43:13Speaker 1: that's why I'm gonnaname this shit. I love it, man,

- 44:54Speaker 1: Yes, it's hard tickets and you.
- 44:57Speaker 2: Know, I remember when he was I guess underground what

- 45:05Speaker 2: you know, yeah, I've been seeing G come up since
- 45:07Speaker 2: shit man.
- 45:08Speaker 1: I mean yo, like G took some of the realist
- 45:11Speaker 1: artists on tour, had him open up.
- 45:13Speaker 2: For his shows Kailani forty, yg Helo, yg Yo, Gotti Yo.

- 45:27Speaker 1: like sleep on him sometimes, Like you know what I mean.
- 45:29Speaker 2: I think the thing with G Man is like it
- 45:32Speaker 2: felt like everybody was rooting against him because he got
- 45:36Speaker 2: so big, and they were like, yeah, wait a minute.
- 45:38Speaker 2: Because if you think about it, like G's probably I
- 45:40Speaker 2: mean like obviously there's two short Andy forty, but in

- 46:02Speaker 1: same ship he's doing, but they won't hate you because
- 46:05Speaker 1: it's you doing it right.
- 46:06Speaker 2: I just think like a lot of the Bay Area
- 46:08Speaker 2: taste makers too, were just waiting for that, like they
- 46:10Speaker 2: were like they always were hating on that full.
- 46:12Speaker 1: Like well they could suck a dick even though he was.

- 46:24Speaker 1: He shows love man, you know what I mean. It's
- 46:26Speaker 1: usually like that. People that show too much love, they
