Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: All right, before we get to the staff page, we
- 0:01Speaker 1: got Luke Murray. You kind of assisted as a Huskies
- 0:03Speaker 1: win eighty to seventy on the road here at Butler.
- 0:06Speaker 1: A little bit of everything in this one, coach. You
- 0:08Speaker 1: win the rebounding battle, you get a lot of second
- 0:10Speaker 1: chance points, and you're able to knock it down from outside.
- 0:13Speaker 1: It's always good to have the three point game going,
- 0:16Speaker 1: and everyone got involved in that.
- 0:18Speaker 2: Yeah, that was great to see, you know, really impressed
- 0:20Speaker 2: with the way that so a low shot the ball
- 0:22Speaker 2: early in the game. It really was reminiscent of a
- 0:24Speaker 2: lot of his games last year when you really had
- 0:25Speaker 2: it going. So that was fun. I'm happy for him
- 0:28Speaker 2: to be as dialed in as he was. Braylan made
- 0:30Speaker 2: some big shots in the first half to get us
- 0:31Speaker 2: going as well, and then Silas made a couple of.
- 0:34Speaker 1: Late and you had to play without Alex Caravan for
- 0:36Speaker 1: twelve minutes in the first half. Brailan Mullens had to
- 0:38Speaker 1: sit down. I thought that you got some really good
- 0:42Speaker 1: contributions all the way down the roster when you needed them.
- 0:45Speaker 2: Yeah, I thought so too, you know, I thought we
- 0:47Speaker 2: did a pretty good job of working through the foul
- 0:48Speaker 2: trouble with Ak, you know, that obviously makes things difficult
- 0:51Speaker 2: for us on both ends when he's out of the game.
- 0:53Speaker 2: I thought Jaden Ross played great defense when he was
- 0:55Speaker 2: in there and gave us a lyft knocking down a
- 0:57Speaker 2: big shot. Malachi did some good things. Eric was on
- 1:00Speaker 2: the offensive glass and in the first half, and then
- 1:02Speaker 2: you know, some of those other guys that we were
- 1:04Speaker 2: still in the game, guys like Arras and Solo really
- 1:06Speaker 2: stepped up along with Braylin.
- 1:07Speaker 1: And halftime, you must have been talking about the pick
- 1:09Speaker 1: a roll game. They were getting the ball down deep
- 1:12Speaker 1: and scoring a lot, and that was getting annoying from
- 1:15Speaker 1: my perspective. I'm just curious what you guys talked about
- 1:18Speaker 1: at halftime.
- 1:19Speaker 2: Yeah, you know, we weren't doing a very good job
- 1:21Speaker 2: of that, you know, I think for us of some
- 1:23Speaker 2: of our game plan was to really try to take
- 1:25Speaker 2: away biz Jack and a Jaii and what resulted and
- 1:27Speaker 2: that was a lot of post traps, a lot of
- 1:29Speaker 2: double teams on a JII, and we weren't doing a
- 1:31Speaker 2: good enough job of taking away their big guys. Off
- 1:34Speaker 2: of those traps. Guys like Jones and Trey Or were
- 1:36Speaker 2: getting easy baskets they said a lot of these Spain backscreens,
- 1:39Speaker 2: and I didn't think we handled those particularly well early
- 1:41Speaker 2: as well, So, you know, just one of those things
- 1:43Speaker 2: where we had to make some adjustments. In the second half.
- 1:45Speaker 2: They started really trying to go at some matchups to
- 1:47Speaker 2: get fouls. You know, they tried to get Braylon a
- 1:49Speaker 2: third foul, They tried to get Alex a third foul
- 1:51Speaker 2: right away, So we had to kind of work through
- 1:53Speaker 2: that as well. They're you know, they're a good offensive
- 1:55Speaker 2: team and they have good schemes and so just kind
- 1:57Speaker 2: of had to grind it out.
- 1:58Speaker 1: A second chance points that's always a big number if
- 2:01Speaker 1: you can get the advantage there. Those are baskets you
- 2:05Speaker 1: don't always get, but you get them, like sixteen to
- 2:08Speaker 1: eight was a nice advantage tonight.
- 2:09Speaker 2: Yeah, that was nice. You know, I thought early in
- 2:11Speaker 2: the game we got some confidence from getting on the
- 2:13Speaker 2: offensive glass. Terras had a couple right away in the
- 2:16Speaker 2: first couple of minutes of the game. I think he
- 2:17Speaker 2: had three or four at halftime offensive rebounds. Braylin got
- 2:20Speaker 2: in there and got a couple of putbacks as well.
- 2:23Speaker 2: Eric got one. So it was nice to see us
- 2:25Speaker 2: get some second shots. But then we also shot the
- 2:26Speaker 2: ball really well. And you know, I think we had
- 2:28Speaker 2: three turnovers at the at the fifteen and a half
- 2:31Speaker 2: minute mark or whatever it was at the first media
- 2:33Speaker 2: time out and only turned it over five times after that.
- 2:35Speaker 2: So made some changes in terms of some of our
- 2:38Speaker 2: decision making, and I thought it really helped us.
- 2:40Speaker 1: Yeah, I was going to say this was the last point.
- 2:41Speaker 1: I was going to make Assists to turnovers big, you know,
- 2:44Speaker 1: a big story against Saint John's fifteen turnovers. Only eight
- 2:47Speaker 1: here tonight and twenty two assists. Now that's a ratio
- 2:50Speaker 1: you can live.
- 2:51Speaker 2: With for sure, you know. And like I said, I
- 2:53Speaker 2: think the three turnovers start were really disappointing. I thought
- 2:55Speaker 2: we were looser with the ball, but I thought buying
- 2:57Speaker 2: large for thirty five or thirty six minutest of the game,
- 3:00Speaker 2: we did a good job of taking care of it.
- 3:02Speaker 2: And our assist numbers should be hot, you know, with
- 3:04Speaker 2: kind of how we play, and they did some things
- 3:06Speaker 2: differently in the second half. But I thought we got
- 3:07Speaker 2: a lot of great shots, you know, like you mentioned
- 3:10Speaker 2: the threes, but also got some good shots around the rim.
- 3:12Speaker 2: Thought Terris gave us a great lift as well, you know,
- 3:14Speaker 2: just to be able to have the feel as the
- 3:17Speaker 2: passer as he does. You know, seven assists, made some
- 3:19Speaker 2: really great plays against postal teams, so it was great
- 3:21Speaker 2: to see.
- 3:22Speaker 1: Yeah, double double for him. They were double team in
- 3:25Speaker 1: him a lot. I mean, that's not easy for a
- 3:26Speaker 1: big guy. When you get people collapsing on you, you
- 3:29Speaker 1: gotta find somebody. Yeah, he did a good job.
- 3:31Speaker 2: He did. You know, initially they were trapping him right
- 3:33Speaker 2: away as soon as he caught it, and then they
- 3:35Speaker 2: started trapping him on the dribble because they realized he
- 3:37Speaker 2: wasn't putting it down right away. And I thought he
- 3:39Speaker 2: made some really good passing decisions. He had two turnovers
- 3:41Speaker 2: of the three in the first couple of minutes of
- 3:43Speaker 2: the game, and then played a really clean game from
- 3:45Speaker 2: there and on all right, coach, appreciate it. You got
- 3:47Speaker 2: a mic
