- 0:00Speaker 1: The Force will be with you always.
- 0:18Speaker 2: Hello, and welcome back to another episode of Star Wars Alliance.
- 0:24Speaker 2: Of course, I'm your host Clay and with me for
- 0:28Speaker 2: this grand finale, and I am not yet saying series
- 0:34Speaker 2: because there is small hopes out there in the world.
- 0:38Speaker 2: Apparently today we'll talk about that briefly, but talking about
- 0:42Speaker 2: the finale of Skeleton Crew season one. So, Asian, I
- 0:49Speaker 2: saw that you enjoyed this episode. I enjoyed the episode.
- 0:57Speaker 2: I do have one qualm that we will get passed
- 1:00Speaker 2: very quickly. I feel like i'd like to get.
- 1:02Speaker 1: I'm excited to hear. Yeah, I mean I honestly, I
- 1:04Speaker 1: haven't talked to really anyone about it. I mean, the
- 1:07Speaker 1: just knew that I had to get my review in
- 1:08Speaker 1: for for why though, and I just wanted to make
- 1:10Speaker 1: sure that was like as authentic to me as possible.
- 1:12Speaker 1: So yeah, I didn't really talk to anyone about it,
- 1:14Speaker 1: and I didn't have any real qulums. So there's something
- 1:16Speaker 1: I missed, something excited to hear about it.
- 1:18Speaker 2: Well, it's gonna be It's gonna be a fun one
- 1:21Speaker 2: to talk about.
- 1:21Speaker 1: But yeah, I mean, well, what else can you talk
- 1:24Speaker 1: about in this show other than like if you're not
- 1:25Speaker 1: talking about the fun stuff in this then like what
- 1:27Speaker 1: what are you? What are you doing here?
- 1:28Speaker 2: Well, and and that's the thing I want to jump
- 1:31Speaker 2: right into it because one thing, we usually talk news
- 1:35Speaker 2: and everything else. There wasn't a whole lot out there
- 1:37Speaker 2: this week as far as news. Uh, there is the
- 1:40Speaker 2: rumor and yet not yet confirmed conversations of the supposed
- 1:47Speaker 2: villain for the Mandalorian movie being that of oh shoot,
- 1:53Speaker 2: I even forgot his name, the one that Dave Filoni
- 1:57Speaker 2: voices in La Clone Wars. It was do you remember
- 2:02Speaker 2: his name?
- 2:03Speaker 1: I hadn't seen this news at all, so I'm not
- 2:05Speaker 1: even I'm not even versed.
- 2:06Speaker 2: Oh really Okay, So so yeah, let me go ahead
- 2:10Speaker 2: and bring that up duper quickly if it is in well,
- 2:15Speaker 2: you know what, let's go ahead and start with this news.
- 2:17Speaker 2: I will say this, this has been somewhat confirmed quote unquote.
- 2:22Speaker 2: I don't know if there has. Oh, there is a
- 2:27Speaker 2: TCHR article, Hollywood Report article on the fact that Ray
- 2:32Speaker 2: Stephenson's role is being replaced. Of course, Ray Stevenson unfortunately
- 2:39Speaker 2: passed away and will not be able to of course
- 2:43Speaker 2: continue his role as Bayleen. But Game of Thrones actor
- 2:49Speaker 2: Rory McCain will now or McCann will now be playing
- 2:54Speaker 2: Baylen Skull. Now. I will say this, I have only
- 2:58Speaker 2: seen the first five that episodes of season one of
- 3:02Speaker 2: Game of Thrones. I am slowly making my way, gotcha
- 3:05Speaker 2: through that series. Are you familiar with Game of Thrones?
- 3:08Speaker 1: Are you familiar with Yeah, I'm I'm very familiar with
- 3:11Speaker 1: Game of Thrones. I'm I'm one of those guys who talked,
- 3:14Speaker 1: talked your head out off about it and then totally
- 3:16Speaker 1: fell off the planet because D and D hates their
- 3:20Speaker 1: fans and character development. So for me, I think the
- 3:23Speaker 1: announcement is super great because he's great in that, I hope,
- 3:26Speaker 1: I mean, And it's not like it's not like he's
- 3:28Speaker 1: like playing the same role, right, Like it's not the
- 3:31Speaker 1: hound is not what where Stevenson was playing in Ahsoka,
- 3:35Speaker 1: So like that that, I think that's okay. I would
- 3:38Speaker 1: I think I read somebody that they're friends or something
- 3:40Speaker 1: like that, right, that they're close, Yeah, that they were, Yeah,
- 3:44Speaker 1: So I mean, I think that alone, I think gives
- 3:46Speaker 1: warrant for him to play it, and I hope that
- 3:49Speaker 1: they do do it because it show needs to go on,
- 3:51Speaker 1: right and we all know that we don't want cgi
- 3:54Speaker 1: stuff ever again, yeah, not doing it. Please just recast
- 3:57Speaker 1: the actors man like Star Trek shows that you can
- 3:59Speaker 1: do that. Look at other franchises. You cast the actors.
- 4:02Speaker 1: It's fine, their integrity stays the same. It's not a
- 4:04Speaker 1: big deal. How many Kirks have you had? And then
- 4:06Speaker 1: you still think of what Kirk do you think of
- 4:08Speaker 1: when I say Kirk? And given all the ones that
- 4:10Speaker 1: we've had, it's fine of them exactly. Yeah, So like
- 4:14Speaker 1: it's it's it's it's okay, it'll be fine. So I'm down.
- 4:18Speaker 1: I'm down. Let's do it.
- 4:20Speaker 2: So in regards to the other rumor, I'm trying to
- 4:25Speaker 2: I know that the g Ua has a lot of conversations.
- 4:29Speaker 2: I'm trying to scroll through here to try and find
- 4:32Speaker 2: the exact one that says it. But it was apparently
- 4:39Speaker 2: that there is a character in the Clone Wars that
- 4:45Speaker 2: I can't remember his name that Dave Filoni voices it
- 4:56Speaker 2: is shoot uh Imbo, the bounty hunter Embo. There is Yeah,
- 5:05Speaker 2: that'd be dope. Oh yeah, there is a voice him.
- 5:08Speaker 1: Yeah, it's it's such a low key role that I
- 5:10Speaker 1: forget that he voices him. Yeah, No, that'd be great.
- 5:12Speaker 2: Yeah, there is a rumor that Imbo will be the
- 5:17Speaker 2: main focused villain of the Mandalorian and Grogu movie and
- 5:24Speaker 2: that Embo will basically be going after the Young Hut
- 5:32Speaker 2: that is also rumored to be in the Mandalorian in
- 5:36Speaker 2: Grogu movie. So, uh, it's gonna be a.
- 5:40Speaker 1: Very interesting one. He was, He wasn't like a bad dude.
- 5:44Speaker 1: How where I it was?
- 5:49Speaker 2: It was very brief. It wasn't Wait, No, I don't
- 5:52Speaker 2: like it. I don't like it.
- 5:53Speaker 1: I'm thinking more about it, Clay, I don't like it.
- 5:56Speaker 1: Of all the things you could do for the movie,
- 5:57Speaker 1: you bring back Mbo to be your villain of all,
- 6:01Speaker 1: like the new characters he Caredy created all Like, I
- 6:03Speaker 1: just don't what.
- 6:05Speaker 2: It's a very weird pool. I will say that, I
- 6:09Speaker 2: feel like it's a very out of left field pool
- 6:13Speaker 2: of being somebody who of course we're talking Clone Wars
- 6:18Speaker 2: era jumping all the way to the Mandalorian era, and
- 6:24Speaker 2: of course we have seen other bounty hunters from that
- 6:27Speaker 2: era show up.
- 6:29Speaker 1: Yeah cad Bane. And you know, how did that go
- 6:31Speaker 1: over with the fans? Like, no one fucking liked it?
- 6:34Speaker 1: Like if if if you couldn't do cad Bane. What
- 6:37Speaker 1: makes you think you're gonna be able to do Embo?
- 6:40Speaker 2: Yeah, exactly. No, I I totally agree, and that's why
- 6:45Speaker 2: I'm I'm very hesitant, Yeah, says here. Comicbook dot Com
- 6:51Speaker 2: says star Wars. Who is the bounty hunter Embo and
- 6:54Speaker 2: is he in the Mandalorian grogu? It's gonna be very interesting.
- 7:01Speaker 2: I don't know how well this.
- 7:04Speaker 1: I don't know, man, I don't know. I don't like it.
- 7:07Speaker 1: I really don't, like.
- 7:09Speaker 2: I said, I just feel like it's such a out
- 7:12Speaker 2: of left field pool for what could be and this
- 7:19Speaker 2: is this is you know, the pen ultimate Yeah, like
- 7:25Speaker 2: big bookshelf to like h like, uh, what's the verbiage
- 7:30Speaker 2: I'm I'm looking for here. It's like the pen ultimate
- 7:33Speaker 2: thing to what will be the finale of the Mandalorian.
- 7:35Speaker 1: Yeah, maybe I need to go back and rewatch rewatch
- 7:38Speaker 1: his episodes. But I remember like Embo, like of the
- 7:41Speaker 1: bounty hunter group that they're with, right, being the nicest
- 7:46Speaker 1: one or like the most you know, he has like
- 7:48Speaker 1: the key thing with his dog. You know. It reminds
- 7:51Speaker 1: me a lot of Ember in the relationship in the
- 7:56Speaker 1: High Republic. Right, So that I've always really associated him
- 7:59Speaker 1: with not being and he was employed. He targeted Clovis, right,
- 8:05Speaker 1: I'm just like going back through his history and thinking
- 8:06Speaker 1: about all the stuff that he did. I'm just crazy.
- 8:08Speaker 1: It's I guess he did hunt Lando.
- 8:13Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 8:15Speaker 1: Yeah, we'll see, we'll see maybe maybe things I don't know.
- 8:18Speaker 1: Everyone thought that, like the what the s episode six
- 8:22Speaker 1: or seven was gonna give you the entire backstory of
- 8:25Speaker 1: job because of something that you'd last said in like.
- 8:28Speaker 2: An interview, and then and then nothing.
- 8:31Speaker 1: Right, Look, man, when when we speculate, we're disappointed. So
- 8:34Speaker 1: I'm not. I'm getting out of my head. I'm getting
- 8:36Speaker 1: out of my head.
- 8:36Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah, So it'll it'll be very interesting. And of course,
- 8:40Speaker 2: when anything develops on this story, we will talk about it.
- 8:45Speaker 2: But that's really all that was it in the news. Uh,
- 8:48Speaker 2: let's go ahead and jump into the season finale of
- 8:55Speaker 2: Skeleton Crew.
- 8:57Speaker 3: All right, y'all, we're gonna hit our first ad break
- 8:59Speaker 3: and we will be right back in three two one.
- 9:03Speaker 2: So my my first question to you, how did you
- 9:09Speaker 2: feel about last episode with landing at and how John
- 9:16Speaker 2: went about parents and getting a vault and all of
- 9:21Speaker 2: that leading into of course, our opening scene. Yeah, to
- 9:25Speaker 2: this finale, how'd you feel about all that?
- 9:28Speaker 1: Like how we got there? Yeah, it was fine. I mean,
- 9:33Speaker 1: I'm glad they got there. You know, I think that
- 9:37Speaker 1: I'm glad. I didn't think that we'd see the vault
- 9:40Speaker 1: in before the finale, but I'm glad that they did
- 9:44Speaker 1: because they made it, like they made everything everything that
- 9:46Speaker 1: was going on. You know, it wasn't about the vault anymore.
- 9:48Speaker 1: It's just about like protecting the planet, Yeah, which which
- 9:51Speaker 1: I'm which I'm down with. And you know, I didn't
- 9:54Speaker 1: think he's gonna be a good guy to begin with.
- 9:56Speaker 1: I know a lot of people thought that he was
- 9:57Speaker 1: gonna turn turn a leaf, but there's.
- 9:59Speaker 2: Not ano genuinely thought that he was going to. And
- 10:04Speaker 2: as as time went on, especially in the last episode,
- 10:07Speaker 2: I was just like, there's not enough time. I Yeah,
- 10:09Speaker 2: I think.
- 10:10Speaker 1: I think for me, the big moment for me that
- 10:12Speaker 1: I knew that this guy wasn't going to be the
- 10:14Speaker 1: man we thought he was going to be is when
- 10:16Speaker 1: everyone got high off of the fact that he said
- 10:19Speaker 1: the fucking Qui gon lines. Everyone thought, oh, because he's
- 10:23Speaker 1: top by the Jedi and like he's like he's doing
- 10:25Speaker 1: a good thing. In this moment, but I don't think
- 10:28Speaker 1: he was. I think he was giving a bad lesson
- 10:31Speaker 1: to a kid who just needs to be told, like
- 10:32Speaker 1: it was gonna it's gonna be okay, Like telling him
- 10:35Speaker 1: to forget his attachments is literally the problem. And I
- 10:40Speaker 1: think that he was never for an what episode does that?
- 10:44Speaker 1: I don't even remember what episode that was. I was like, yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 10:49Speaker 1: so I've been off. I've been off the bandwagon for
- 10:53Speaker 1: a while. So I loved it. I loved how bad
- 10:57Speaker 1: I was, like, give me no quarter, give me no quarter.
- 10:59Speaker 1: I want him to be a bad guy. I'm over
- 11:02Speaker 1: Not not that I'm over it, but like I think
- 11:04Speaker 1: I think that's like makes Palpatine such an intriguing character
- 11:06Speaker 1: and why I think he's my favorite. No even factors
- 11:10Speaker 1: that dude is a racist. He hates everybody. He wants
- 11:15Speaker 1: power and that's it. And we know that since he
- 11:18Speaker 1: was a boy from the moment he tapped into power,
- 11:21Speaker 1: he knew that that was his thing. So of course John,
- 11:25Speaker 1: when he doesn't have the Jedi, he has a little
- 11:26Speaker 1: bit of power. Of course he's gonna gonna not flex
- 11:29Speaker 1: it for for for a kid like that, Come on, man,
- 11:32Speaker 1: So I think it's in character for him to be
- 11:34Speaker 1: to be that, and I'm glad that he's a survivor
- 11:37Speaker 1: of Order sixty six. I know people don't like that, but.
- 11:43Speaker 2: It is very It blurs the line because it's it's
- 11:48Speaker 2: the he is a survivor of Order sixty six, but
- 11:52Speaker 2: he's not a Jedi, Like, he was never trained in
- 11:55Speaker 2: that way. He showed potential all the way to the
- 11:57Speaker 2: point where the Jedi were actually going to train him,
- 12:02Speaker 2: but it was never able to actually happen. Like. I
- 12:06Speaker 2: kind of like that in the sense of of being
- 12:11Speaker 2: different in the sake of, hey, we know that people
- 12:15Speaker 2: have been complaining about this, which is also Stuman, but
- 12:18Speaker 2: here's a different spin on it. So I like the
- 12:21Speaker 2: experimentation of doing something different with that kind of story.
- 12:25Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, And I think it's in line with this
- 12:27Speaker 1: with this stuff too. I think when he was when
- 12:29Speaker 1: he's talking to the kids about them being spoiled and
- 12:32Speaker 1: not appreciating. Of course he's going to be a kid
- 12:34Speaker 1: who grew up or and grew up in all those things.
- 12:36Speaker 1: So I think, you know, and if there's like redeeming
- 12:38Speaker 1: qualities there, then yeah, man, do what you gotta do.
- 12:42Speaker 1: I mean, I think Star Wars Outlaws k Ves's character
- 12:45Speaker 1: of any character, really shows that like a man, you
- 12:48Speaker 1: can be the most well intentioned person ever, but sometimes
- 12:51Speaker 1: the rebellion is going to leave you in the in
- 12:52Speaker 1: the vault and you got to like figure it out.
- 12:55Speaker 1: And I think for most characters that you know, they
- 12:59Speaker 1: get dealt like a shy hand, and like they still
- 13:01Speaker 1: like try to do better and they find the light
- 13:03Speaker 1: in the darkness, which is what the you know, the
- 13:06Speaker 1: best line of this episode comes is it is of
- 13:09Speaker 1: that of that ilk, right then, yeah, then that's what
- 13:12Speaker 1: you do. And John didn't do that, and that sucks
- 13:15Speaker 1: for him, but it's a good look at like, hey,
- 13:17Speaker 1: just because you have the force doesn't always mean you're
- 13:19Speaker 1: going to be good. And just because you have the
- 13:21Speaker 1: force and decide not to be good, doesn't mean you're
- 13:23Speaker 1: always gonna be bilding a red lightsaber around you're going.
- 13:26Speaker 2: To do and I think that's what I also like,
- 13:31Speaker 2: we have this lightsaber which has not been confirmed, but
- 13:36Speaker 2: there's a lot of talk.
- 13:38Speaker 1: Of it possibly it's perc Yeah, Like if it isn't,
- 13:42Speaker 1: it's weird.
- 13:43Speaker 2: Do you do you think that it's like Aslan's lightsaber
- 13:47Speaker 2: because that's like a top rumor as well.
- 13:49Speaker 1: Oh is that like, like, oh, like who whose it is? Specifically?
- 13:51Speaker 1: They're talking about Who's it is specifically? Yeah, I don't
- 13:55Speaker 1: think it's anybody specific. I think it's more by representation
- 13:58Speaker 1: of the era. I think the episode, I think the series,
- 14:00Speaker 1: the show itself. I think the show itself does a
- 14:02Speaker 1: really good job of like telling us not to get
- 14:05Speaker 1: so wrapped up in the myth, right to get not
- 14:08Speaker 1: so wrapped up in who Captain Rennon is, because it
- 14:11Speaker 1: didn't it didn't matter.
- 14:12Speaker 2: It didn't matter. Yeah, yeah, for.
- 14:13Speaker 1: For the story, right, like there's there's there's threads to
- 14:16Speaker 1: go to go do another stories. But for the story,
- 14:18Speaker 1: Captain Renn didn't matter. The pirate code didn't matter, unclaims
- 14:22Speaker 1: these one right, So like the stuff just doesn't matter.
- 14:27Speaker 1: So I think it's just more than but the symbols matter.
- 14:29Speaker 1: The symbols matters. The symbol of the High Republic in
- 14:32Speaker 1: John's hand, a space pirate means something as much as
- 14:37Speaker 1: like a pirate as a lightsaber during the High Republic
- 14:39Speaker 1: being in the hand of Marchion Rowe in the High Republic.
- 14:43Speaker 1: To me, that's how I feel Watch Whose It Is?
- 14:46Speaker 1: It's the fact that he has it and it's that
- 14:48Speaker 1: specific lightsaber when it wasn't just about like, oh, let's
- 14:51Speaker 1: turn out lightsabers before Guardian protocol, when it was just like, hey,
- 14:54Speaker 1: this was somebody's lightsaber who was definitely more than likely
- 14:59Speaker 1: a good person, a good Jedi, and somehow.
- 15:02Speaker 2: And now is being used for very sour and very
- 15:05Speaker 2: bad purposes.
- 15:07Speaker 1: So I hope it's not someone established then, you know,
- 15:09Speaker 1: tell me a story about the lightsaber in some other way?
- 15:12Speaker 2: Uh I can? I can. I can see there being
- 15:17Speaker 2: a like from a certain point of view story out
- 15:20Speaker 2: there somewhere in the future, like oh, this is the
- 15:23Speaker 2: lightsaber that the pirate Johd took and blah blah blah.
- 15:26Speaker 2: We learning about that. But it's funny that you bring
- 15:29Speaker 2: up Marchian Road because my second time watching it's immediately
- 15:35Speaker 2: I see the correlation. I immediately see like, oh man,
- 15:39Speaker 2: like just him waving it around and demanding Now again,
- 15:45Speaker 2: I know people are gonna want to and I wanted
- 15:48Speaker 2: to as well, have this sense of like, oh, he
- 15:51Speaker 2: still has like a little bit of heart, because like
- 15:54Speaker 2: he could just be ruthless and burder people and like
- 15:57Speaker 2: kill Whim's father and kill Ferns.
- 16:00Speaker 1: Other he holds back. He holds back compared to his
- 16:06Speaker 1: homies who come in you know, guns blazing later in
- 16:10Speaker 1: the episode. So if anything, he's more reserved and probably
- 16:13Speaker 1: tries to do you know, he just wants his money.
- 16:16Speaker 1: That's all he cares about is yea.
- 16:17Speaker 2: And and you know, this is ultimately another you know,
- 16:21Speaker 2: life lesson of you know, greed and everything else. But
- 16:24Speaker 2: like I want to get down to because because I
- 16:27Speaker 2: told you the very beginning of this is that, you know,
- 16:30Speaker 2: there was a little qualm that I had. I told
- 16:33Speaker 2: Katie because Katie shared in our g u a Star
- 16:37Speaker 2: Wars Alliance chat this tweet that said, uh, I think
- 16:42Speaker 2: it was episode like after episode three, like very early
- 16:47Speaker 2: on in us watching this series, that said, what if
- 16:52Speaker 2: all of the droids in at Atton were the Skeleton crew?
- 16:57Speaker 2: And I said, I don't know if I would like it,
- 17:02Speaker 2: because ultimately it goes up to story and how they
- 17:06Speaker 2: actually pull it off and everything else. And I think
- 17:08Speaker 2: if they can pull it off, it's great. But with
- 17:11Speaker 2: what we were getting all the way up to episode
- 17:13Speaker 2: three or four, I was like, if it just ends
- 17:16Speaker 2: up being like, oh, you know, Aton is run by droids.
- 17:20Speaker 2: I don't know how I feel about that. Well, here's
- 17:26Speaker 2: the finale. We get to meet who the supervisor is,
- 17:32Speaker 2: and it's a giant droid. It's it's it's a it's
- 17:37Speaker 2: it's an artificial intelligence. How'd you feel about for one?
- 17:41Speaker 2: Did you have this inkling that this is how it
- 17:43Speaker 2: was gonna end up? Yeah?
- 17:47Speaker 1: I mean I thought girl that was always going to
- 17:50Speaker 1: be a droid. I thought always going to be Adroyd,
- 17:52Speaker 1: And a lot of people thought it was gonna be
- 17:53Speaker 1: Captain Rennin, but like, how could he be Captain Rennon?
- 17:55Speaker 1: And why would he let the ship leave if it
- 17:57Speaker 1: was Captain Rennin?
- 17:59Speaker 2: Uh?
- 18:00Speaker 1: People said it was Neil's dad. I mean Neil's dad,
- 18:03Speaker 1: I guess would have been cool. But then I was like, Dad,
- 18:05Speaker 1: where have you been this whole time trying to save
- 18:06Speaker 1: your son? You dead beat?
- 18:07Speaker 2: You know?
- 18:08Speaker 1: Like every I could, I just could see something being
- 18:11Speaker 1: really wrong with every pick that of it being like
- 18:13Speaker 1: a character that we knew, right, I didn't want it
- 18:15Speaker 1: to be like a gatya. So I thought it was
- 18:18Speaker 1: cool that it was a droid because this whole thing
- 18:19Speaker 1: is about, let's say, I think for John's character too,
- 18:23Speaker 1: just thinking about it, now, but like Jod, Dude, John,
- 18:25Speaker 1: I have to go up this planet because it was
- 18:26Speaker 1: run by droids. And Jod was always like, oh, don't
- 18:29Speaker 1: trust droids, droids are bad blah blah blah blah blah.
- 18:31Speaker 1: And he must have been he must have been in
- 18:33Speaker 1: his side and has been like, oh, there's droid up
- 18:35Speaker 1: right now, Dude, I saw my master jack these things
- 18:39Speaker 1: up in the Clone Wars like or you know, like
- 18:41Speaker 1: he's no fear, he has no fear of droids, but
- 18:44Speaker 1: these regular people do. They're that scared of droids until
- 18:48Speaker 1: they remember that, oh, yeah, they're just droids and we
- 18:49Speaker 1: can just push them over and talk to them and
- 18:53Speaker 1: get them out of their things.
- 18:54Speaker 2: Right.
- 18:55Speaker 1: So's it's so cool that it's a droid because there's
- 18:58Speaker 1: just so much like commentary on that, you know, trolled
- 19:02Speaker 1: Buyer the Machine. It's it's just so good. It's so good.
- 19:06Speaker 1: And then I love my favorite, one of my favorite
- 19:08Speaker 1: parts of the episodes that had to pause and be like, oh, snap,
- 19:11Speaker 1: that's so good and I can't wait to see it,
- 19:13Speaker 1: like layered on top of each other. Don't take don't
- 19:14Speaker 1: take it it, I'm gonna do it. I'm gonna do it.
- 19:16Speaker 1: But when when he stabs it and it just mirrors
- 19:19Speaker 1: the Qui gon uh episode one, I was like, yes, yes, guys,
- 19:25Speaker 1: you got the wrong thing, added that message. This isn't
- 19:27Speaker 1: qui gon, This isn't qui gon. Those aren't the lessons.
- 19:31Speaker 1: This is just a dude who knows lightsaber beat droid
- 19:35Speaker 1: every single time. Yeah, and I think deeper than that,
- 19:38Speaker 1: and something that I want to kind of explore, just
- 19:41Speaker 1: kind of like back on my own times, Like I
- 19:42Speaker 1: see that, I'm like, yeah, of course a droid can
- 19:44Speaker 1: roll roll the entire planet. I G eighty eight and
- 19:47Speaker 1: like the old school canon, Uh took over the Death Star,
- 19:51Speaker 1: like plugged himself into the Death Star and took over
- 19:53Speaker 1: the Death Star and he was basically a giant fucking
- 19:56Speaker 1: moon blowing up planet. So cool, dude, Star Wars. Star
- 20:00Speaker 1: Wars is cool when it's weird, So make it weird.
- 20:02Speaker 2: And I'm here for this. This is and I love
- 20:06Speaker 2: how ultimately, you know, we talked about it very briefly,
- 20:08Speaker 2: and I even you know, I was teasing Katie because
- 20:11Speaker 2: she hadn't seen the movie, like all the way almost
- 20:13Speaker 2: to the end, this was Treasure Planet, Like yeah, through
- 20:17Speaker 2: and through, UH, And I really dug it, I really did.
- 20:21Speaker 2: I love this entire series. When it came to the supervisor,
- 20:25Speaker 2: I'd even ask Katie because it was it was announced
- 20:28Speaker 2: immediately after the penultimate episode that Stephen Fry was the
- 20:33Speaker 2: voice over the intercom and voice the supervisor. So I
- 20:37Speaker 2: had said, I was like, well, do you think that
- 20:38Speaker 2: Stephen Fry is the supervisor or is this just like
- 20:42Speaker 2: a pre recorded voice and we'll actually see who it
- 20:46Speaker 2: is in the in the next episode. She believed that
- 20:49Speaker 2: it wasn't really him, that we'll see whoever it is
- 20:52Speaker 2: in the last episode. Seeing that it was Destroid, I
- 20:56Speaker 2: was like, okay, like everything's kind of laid out there
- 21:01Speaker 2: to kind of tell you even before the big reveal.
- 21:05Speaker 2: So I that was my biggest qualm is like, okay,
- 21:10Speaker 2: you know, I had reservations towards this being a resolution
- 21:15Speaker 2: in the beginning, but ultimately looking through the entire story,
- 21:20Speaker 2: looking how fun this series is. It's a very minor qualm,
- 21:25Speaker 2: like I can yeah, I look at everything else and
- 21:27Speaker 2: I'm like, this is a fantastic.
- 21:29Speaker 1: Yeah, and it has to be And it had to
- 21:30Speaker 1: be Adroid. It had to be Adroid, just how the
- 21:32Speaker 1: society was run at Akron, I think showed that when
- 21:36Speaker 1: it was run by humans, what happened, or like when
- 21:38Speaker 1: it was run out of the sentience, what happened. Eventually,
- 21:42Speaker 1: something broke down to the point where they didn't think
- 21:44Speaker 1: that English or like whatever your universal language is, isn't
- 21:48Speaker 1: the universal language anymore. Like that's what happens. So it
- 21:52Speaker 1: also reminds me I'm not sure if you if you
- 21:56Speaker 1: know the episode specifically, but Screechers Reach in Star Wars
- 21:59Speaker 1: Vision in season two, there is the one with the
- 22:04Speaker 1: dark side. You know, Oh, she chooses the dark side
- 22:07Speaker 1: to get out of like a shoe situation, which I
- 22:09Speaker 1: think is so reminiscent of like this story here. But
- 22:13Speaker 1: I think when it starts, she starts in like a
- 22:16Speaker 1: factory run by droids, where like they're the droid factory
- 22:20Speaker 1: to do the thing. So I think that this is
- 22:22Speaker 1: just stuff that's been These are stories, and I think
- 22:25Speaker 1: people have been wanting to tell in Star Wars in
- 22:28Speaker 1: live action for a long time, and I'm glad that
- 22:30Speaker 1: we're getting it in so many different ways in a
- 22:32Speaker 1: really you know, short eight episode season. And I said
- 22:36Speaker 1: after my review that I know that we're upset about
- 22:39Speaker 1: the Actlite being eight episodes, that's a different issue. But
- 22:42Speaker 1: this felt like a really good eight episode season. I
- 22:44Speaker 1: had fun over the last seven weeks.
- 22:46Speaker 2: And so you know our good friend Travis Snell, he
- 22:51Speaker 2: is the godfather of the Gua. He basically gave birth
- 22:55Speaker 2: to it. He wanted to know early yesterday. He's like, Hey,
- 23:00Speaker 2: I'm not gonna be able to watch the episode until
- 23:02Speaker 2: my wife is ready to watch it, but just tell me,
- 23:06Speaker 2: does it in like a full season or does it
- 23:09Speaker 2: end on a cliffhanger? And I told him both, question mark,
- 23:14Speaker 2: because this really is like it. It feels completed, that
- 23:18Speaker 2: feels like, Okay, this is the end. Close your book.
- 23:22Speaker 2: It was a really fun story. Yeah, but when you
- 23:25Speaker 2: really look at the ending, they left it open, Like yeah.
- 23:30Speaker 1: There's literally no Star Wars story ever told that is
- 23:34Speaker 1: complete without something else to go after, even like the
- 23:37Speaker 1: Skywalker saga is now has that was a complete end
- 23:41Speaker 1: of the saga, Like no, there's always going there's always
- 23:44Speaker 1: more stories because these characters just don't vanish.
- 23:46Speaker 2: So yeah, but like.
- 23:48Speaker 1: For their story, if you're talking about the story of
- 23:49Speaker 1: the kids getting them back home, defeating John, like defeating
- 23:53Speaker 1: the villain, everyone is alive at the end that's a story, dude,
- 23:58Speaker 1: that thing other than what's gonna.
- 24:01Speaker 2: Happen exactly things left open. It doesn't necessarily and they
- 24:08Speaker 2: do it in the best way. Uh Like with Jod.
- 24:12Speaker 2: I actually really like that ending because it shows how
- 24:17Speaker 2: good of a person Whim is still ye dude, because
- 24:20Speaker 2: so good he They're all escaping, they're wanting to get
- 24:25Speaker 2: away from Jod to of course help KB. But even
- 24:29Speaker 2: in that last moment, women is yelling out to Jod
- 24:33Speaker 2: like hey, and you're not entirely sure if it's like hey,
- 24:37Speaker 2: come with us, or like hey, we're gonna stop you
- 24:40Speaker 2: type thing, and then like of course, Fern holds him
- 24:44Speaker 2: back and then the elevator goes down. I really enjoyed
- 24:47Speaker 2: that moment. I thought it was a really nice thought.
- 24:50Speaker 1: It was definitely him wanting, wanting for him to go.
- 24:52Speaker 1: I think it's a good marker of all the kids
- 24:55Speaker 1: are good markers of like what happens like when you
- 24:58Speaker 1: raise your kids, you know, And I think when when
- 25:00Speaker 1: you don't raise your kids and they're raised off of
- 25:02Speaker 1: like quote unquote fairy tales or you know, nerdy fandom shit,
- 25:07Speaker 1: like like I am you. You you take certain lessons and
- 25:11Speaker 1: you try to take like the best of those lessons,
- 25:13Speaker 1: and I think it shows that the Jedi. You know,
- 25:15Speaker 1: while as much as the Acolyte shows the issues, right,
- 25:17Speaker 1: Acolyte definitely highlights the issues. This one shows that, like, hey,
- 25:22Speaker 1: the core teachings are there, like be a good person,
- 25:25Speaker 1: help people who are in trouble. That's all he wants
- 25:27Speaker 1: to do. That's typically all Jedi wants to do or
- 25:30Speaker 1: should want to do. So Yeah, he was a Jedi
- 25:33Speaker 1: without even without even being one, without even being a padawan.
- 25:37Speaker 1: You know, he's he's already better than most JEDIBC. I think,
- 25:42Speaker 1: definitely better than County Monday, better Jedi already.
- 25:47Speaker 2: He properly got to hold a lightsaber in this episode.
- 25:50Speaker 2: He did, he did, he did.
- 25:52Speaker 1: I'm glad none of the kids used the Force. I'm
- 25:54Speaker 1: glad it was just them. I'm really really glad about that.
- 25:57Speaker 1: I'm glad there was no final you know, Force push
- 26:00Speaker 1: schreforce pool. I glad Jod looked so shitty when he
- 26:04Speaker 1: was using it. He's so bad.
- 26:06Speaker 2: He was bad. He felt so awkward. And that was
- 26:10Speaker 2: one thing that I told Katie when you finally really
- 26:13Speaker 2: got to see him use it. It looked wrong.
- 26:17Speaker 1: And it felt Yeah, it felt wrong. It felt wrong
- 26:19Speaker 1: last episode when he pulled out the lightsaber. That's not
- 26:22Speaker 1: a man elegantly chopping and Mike showing off a lightsaber, right,
- 26:28Speaker 1: that's someone showing off a sword or a viral blade.
- 26:32Speaker 1: That's not when someone showing off the elegance of a
- 26:35Speaker 1: weapon for a simpler time, you know what I mean. Yeah,
- 26:39Speaker 1: it's so good the way they layered the stuff in there. Man,
- 26:41Speaker 1: John's such a good character. He might be He's like
- 26:44Speaker 1: he's up there for me, man, I think.
- 26:47Speaker 2: That it's very very fun, you know. With the with
- 26:49Speaker 2: the rumor, there is another rumor. I don't know if
- 26:52Speaker 2: you've heard it or not, and I don't know how
- 26:54Speaker 2: I feel about it, but there is now a rumor
- 26:57Speaker 2: stating that Filoni's movie, which will be after Mendalorian Grogu,
- 27:04Speaker 2: will feature characters from Skeleton Crew.
- 27:09Speaker 1: Yeah, if I mean, I think, I mean, I don't
- 27:12Speaker 1: know if this is what they're doing. Again, I try
- 27:14Speaker 1: and not that I not that I avoid the rumors.
- 27:17Speaker 1: I'm like covering my ears as you're saying them, but
- 27:19Speaker 1: I don't actively go seek them out. Yeah, but for me,
- 27:22Speaker 1: and so I don't know if this is like a thing.
- 27:24Speaker 1: I say this because I don't know if this is
- 27:25Speaker 1: like a thing that's already going on, but it feels
- 27:27Speaker 1: like he's that there. He's setting up pirates, like the
- 27:30Speaker 1: Republic versus pirates. Yeah, and like that's what we're doing
- 27:33Speaker 1: to kind of hold this off until we get like
- 27:34Speaker 1: a new big bad villain too.
- 27:37Speaker 2: Too. There's there's a lot of people, of course, you know, uh,
- 27:42Speaker 2: it's no secret that Filoni really loves Air the Empire,
- 27:47Speaker 2: and there's heavy rumors that the end of the Mandalorian
- 27:51Speaker 2: era will be that Air to the Empire type of movie.
- 27:56Speaker 2: And so people are saying that, like, oh, Jod's gonna
- 27:59Speaker 2: be the replacement for the crazy old Jedi in that
- 28:03Speaker 2: one book of yeah maybe maybe, I don't know, you know,
- 28:10Speaker 2: this whole idea of like, oh, there was somebody who
- 28:13Speaker 2: was using the Force and had a lightsaber in this
- 28:15Speaker 2: one planet called at Atten, and you know, maybe you
- 28:18Speaker 2: know Luke Luke Skywalker goes and seeks him out and
- 28:20Speaker 2: stuff like that. I mean, it's it, This is all speculation,
- 28:24Speaker 2: and I don't know how I feel about it.
- 28:27Speaker 1: I got more boring when you brought Luke back in.
- 28:29Speaker 1: I know, I know, but I don't say that. It's like,
- 28:34Speaker 1: don't if people are watching. I love Luke, He's great.
- 28:37Speaker 1: I'm just after after you saw this, like I'm thinking
- 28:40Speaker 1: about I think about how we get this farther away from.
- 28:43Speaker 2: I feel we always talk about we want to get
- 28:46Speaker 2: away from the Skywalker saga.
- 28:49Speaker 1: Yeah, go in the public versus Pirates. I want, I want.
- 28:52Speaker 1: I want a movie New Republic versus Pirates. I want
- 28:55Speaker 1: to see the New Republic be competent for once. Man,
- 28:59Speaker 1: how are these pirates just to go around just blown
- 29:01Speaker 1: up planets?
- 29:02Speaker 2: Still well in in you know, a little inside baseball
- 29:05Speaker 2: for all of our listeners. But Katie and I are
- 29:10Speaker 2: looking into reviewing seasons one and two of The Resistance. Yeah,
- 29:16Speaker 2: and I've already.
- 29:17Speaker 1: I need to go back and revisit It's good. Have
- 29:19Speaker 1: you seen it.
- 29:20Speaker 2: I've already seen it, like we've we've watched it before.
- 29:23Speaker 2: It was already on our schedule and we had to
- 29:25Speaker 2: reschedule somethings. So I actually sat down and watched it.
- 29:28Speaker 2: I loved it. It was a show that was so
- 29:31Speaker 2: dogged on, and so I was like, I was like,
- 29:35Speaker 2: I don't want to watch it, like everybody says it sucks,
- 29:37Speaker 2: And then I sat down and watched it. That's great.
- 29:41Speaker 1: Yeah, best Podram, one of the best pot ammer in representations. Yeah,
- 29:49Speaker 1: it's that alone. Get you in. You'll come out hating
- 29:53Speaker 1: characters that you see in live action. The main character's
- 29:56Speaker 1: dad is a dick. He's the the guy in uh
- 30:02Speaker 1: and or Yeah, yeah, what.
- 30:06Speaker 2: Is his name?
- 30:08Speaker 1: I don't know. I hate him. He's one of, like
- 30:09Speaker 1: the one of the worst characters in Star Wars. You'll
- 30:11Speaker 1: hate him if you watch that show.
- 30:13Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 30:13Speaker 1: That If you need a new character to hate what
- 30:15Speaker 1: to hate in Star Wars, definitely pick that guy.
- 30:19Speaker 2: But like even even that, that is that is Pirates,
- 30:23Speaker 2: Like it shows how well Pirates are done in Star Wars.
- 30:29Speaker 2: And watching this, I love the action. It's very simple.
- 30:34Speaker 2: But like in this episode, specifically the explosion that the
- 30:39Speaker 2: chase that happens, like I thought it was all.
- 30:42Speaker 1: Great, good. Yeah. Yeah. The my my wife, my wife
- 30:47Speaker 1: when we were watching it, she was she was like, man,
- 30:49Speaker 1: this feels like a World War Ze. Independence Well, she's
- 30:52Speaker 1: she said, World War Z. I was thinking Independence Day.
- 30:56Speaker 1: That's you know, it's my favorite like alien invasion movie.
- 30:58Speaker 1: But like that that felt at scale right because so
- 31:01Speaker 1: often we put a lot of stock into like the
- 31:03Speaker 1: open space shots to the open landing shots and Star Wars,
- 31:07Speaker 1: which Skeleton Crew has. Maybe we have beautiful, beautiful open
- 31:10Speaker 1: shots like that throughout throughout this, but this one did
- 31:13Speaker 1: a really good job of putting you in the shoe
- 31:15Speaker 1: of the Yeah, and like that's scary. This ship is scary.
- 31:22Speaker 1: This is Star Wars. Ha ha. These are kids, yes, man,
- 31:25Speaker 1: but these are kids controlling giant spaceships. Like we got
- 31:30Speaker 1: to remember that. And some people are on the other side, right,
- 31:35Speaker 1: They're not They're not getting out of this. There are
- 31:37Speaker 1: definitely people on at AD and who died that night.
- 31:39Speaker 1: And I'm sure and you know, and for for for
- 31:41Speaker 1: me and you who are who are watching that that
- 31:44Speaker 1: thing come down. Everyone's watching that being like, oh yay,
- 31:47Speaker 1: the Pirates have been defeated. And all I'm thinking is
- 31:51Speaker 1: like Starlight Beacon like that had to have been word
- 31:53Speaker 1: of like to see star like Beacon fall. And now
- 31:56Speaker 1: I'm thinking about all of like those of the the
- 31:59Speaker 1: High Republic, may the small still feel big and vice versa.
- 32:03Speaker 1: So they nailed it, dude, the show is so good.
- 32:06Speaker 2: You know they're uh. I read a tweet right before
- 32:11Speaker 2: we jumped on to this recording here that says from you.
- 32:17Speaker 4: Know, a well known scooper out there in the Twitter
- 32:22Speaker 4: verse and everything else saying, I'm hearing its likely Skeleton
- 32:25Speaker 4: Crew gets renewed for a second season.
- 32:28Speaker 1: I hope.
- 32:29Speaker 2: So I think this is going to be very fun
- 32:32Speaker 2: if possible, now from what you would have to do,
- 32:37Speaker 2: because clearly you know, from what I have heard about
- 32:42Speaker 2: season one, this was ready like almost a year and
- 32:46Speaker 2: a half ago, like it was already.
- 32:49Speaker 1: Yeah, and they ANNOUNCEID Star Wars celebration what like twenty
- 32:52Speaker 1: twenty three or twenty two, so it's been a while.
- 32:55Speaker 2: It's been a while, so these kids are older. I
- 32:58Speaker 2: think it will very much be a time jump, if
- 33:03Speaker 2: at all possible. But but how do you made a face?
- 33:06Speaker 2: Tell me, tell me how you're feel an Adrian about
- 33:08Speaker 2: a seasons possibility of season two.
- 33:12Speaker 1: You can't renew this show without renewing The Acolyte. It
- 33:17Speaker 1: got less views than The Acolyte did. It costs probably
- 33:22Speaker 1: almost amount as much money as it did. No one
- 33:25Speaker 1: watched this show other than the people who watched this show,
- 33:29Speaker 1: and you saw what the reviews were. Yeah, I mean,
- 33:32Speaker 1: it don't renew it less you're gonna renew the Alcolyte.
- 33:34Speaker 1: If you don't renew it without the renewing the Acolyte,
- 33:36Speaker 1: then you're doing a disservice to your fans, and I
- 33:38Speaker 1: think that they can't they.
- 33:41Speaker 2: It opens the cans of warm It opens a can
- 33:43Speaker 2: of worms.
- 33:44Speaker 1: Because everything you said about no one viewing it everyone,
- 33:47Speaker 1: everything you said about the reviews, then it validates the
- 33:50Speaker 1: review bombers like it. Just it it just it just don't.
- 33:55Speaker 1: Just don't. Just don't because it was a gleasive story too.
- 33:57Speaker 1: You don't have to you don't have to get you
- 33:58Speaker 1: don't have to go more. I think the act lites
- 34:00Speaker 1: different because it's tackling much bigger themes in the thing, right,
- 34:04Speaker 1: like Rogue One doesn't need a sequel because there's a movie.
- 34:09Speaker 1: Yeah right, yeah, I totally get that. Uh oh, I
- 34:16Speaker 1: think we may have lost Adrian.
- 34:19Speaker 2: Uh ope, Oh I heard you? Are you? Are you good? Hello?
- 34:24Speaker 2: I'm good? Yeah, all right, sorry.
- 34:26Speaker 1: I think I think lucasfilm, Lucasfilm, Disney. I don't care Disney.
- 34:30Speaker 1: It's not shut me down with Disney. Don't do it
- 34:34Speaker 1: without renewing the Acolyte. If you love your fans, if
- 34:37Speaker 1: you truly gave a ship about your fans. You would
- 34:40Speaker 1: renew the end if you gave a ship about your
- 34:44Speaker 1: fans and you didn't care about viewer numbers, because they
- 34:47Speaker 1: both didn't have great numbers and people still love them
- 34:50Speaker 1: and are still talking about them.
- 34:52Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I agree. I think that it. Like I said,
- 34:58Speaker 2: I think it would open a huge cam of worms too.
- 35:02Speaker 2: You know again, I think there would be a wave
- 35:06Speaker 2: of renewed the Acolyte tweets and all of that other stuff.
- 35:11Speaker 2: So it's gonna be very, very interesting to see how
- 35:15Speaker 2: the next week and a half shows you know comes up.
- 35:20Speaker 3: We're gonna go into our second ad break and we'll
- 35:24Speaker 3: be right back.
- 35:25Speaker 2: I I agree with you, and well in speaking of
- 35:29Speaker 2: the kids, you know, I have seen for the past
- 35:35Speaker 2: day now since this finale aired, people are claiming and
- 35:40Speaker 2: clamoring that this is the best Star Wars show that
- 35:46Speaker 2: they have ever seen, and best production within the Mando
- 35:50Speaker 2: verse so far. I think this is Although you know,
- 35:56Speaker 2: we we make good points about the accolade and how
- 36:00Speaker 2: well you know that should have been renewed and everything else,
- 36:03Speaker 2: I do think this show doing well is very good
- 36:09Speaker 2: for the future of future productions of at least Disney
- 36:13Speaker 2: Plus shows.
- 36:16Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I mean that that's that's for sure. I
- 36:20Speaker 1: think it shows that, like not all Star Wars has
- 36:23Speaker 1: to be galactic battles to matter, but so does The Acolyte.
- 36:27Speaker 1: I think the Acolyte does that. I think that the
- 36:28Speaker 1: difference in between the two is that we could talk
- 36:30Speaker 1: about specifically that like there's pacing issues, the season wasn't
- 36:36Speaker 1: long enough type things that there's stuff that we can
- 36:38Speaker 1: point to that and be improved with the season two.
- 36:41Speaker 1: Where I think Season one of Skeleton Crew is great
- 36:44Speaker 1: because it's great about all the things that are great
- 36:46Speaker 1: about Star Wars, and they do it in one season, right,
- 36:50Speaker 1: because it focuses on like the little people, the little person,
- 36:53Speaker 1: the little the the the other stuff. Because before Luke
- 36:56Speaker 1: was Luke Skywalker, he was just a dude on tattooine, right,
- 37:00Speaker 1: So I think that you can do more stuff. I
- 37:05Speaker 1: think you should see this, see the Acolyte, see the
- 37:08Speaker 1: Skeleton Crew and be like, Okay, cool, we have a
- 37:10Speaker 1: dope sandbox. We can do stuff. We can do a
- 37:14Speaker 1: murder mystery, we can do Treasure Island, or we can
- 37:19Speaker 1: do pirates. Give me, they can do heist stuff. What
- 37:22Speaker 1: is rogue one other than like a heist movie, you know,
- 37:25Speaker 1: like there's there's just so much fun that can be had.
- 37:28Speaker 1: And I think the directors of this, I think another thing,
- 37:30Speaker 1: you know, and I love Filony, you know, he left Flony.
- 37:34Speaker 1: Get that clear. I'm not on like the Floony Sucks bandwagon.
- 37:38Speaker 1: And we wouldn't be here without Faloney, right, he's my
- 37:42Speaker 1: my George Lucas, he's like it's like for me, it's
- 37:45Speaker 1: like Lebron James hate it feels forced just because like
- 37:48Speaker 1: he's so good at what he does. But like Lebron,
- 37:53Speaker 1: he's better when he has better people around him. And
- 37:56Speaker 1: I think the Mando verse is better now now that
- 38:00Speaker 1: we have Bryce, Ellis Howard and the Daniels and like
- 38:04Speaker 1: all of these great directors who are great at doing
- 38:07Speaker 1: the other stuff now here with us in the franchise.
- 38:10Speaker 1: That makes us better too. So I'm even gonna do
- 38:13Speaker 1: like an article of like where you can go find
- 38:15Speaker 1: other these these other directors if you haven't heard of
- 38:18Speaker 1: them before, because I think they're they they work together
- 38:21Speaker 1: in such a way that they definitely got what Star
- 38:24Speaker 1: Wars is, and it's about unity, it's about there are
- 38:27Speaker 1: more of us and while Filoni is great and while
- 38:30Speaker 1: we're all excited for his movie, I'm not gonna lie, man,
- 38:33Speaker 1: this was more fun than the Mandalorian for me, more
- 38:36Speaker 1: fun than the Mandalorian for me, and I see why
- 38:39Speaker 1: it would be that way for a lot of people too.
- 38:41Speaker 2: Mm hmm. Yeah. I think that this very much opens
- 38:47Speaker 2: a door uh and opens a huge conversation of Hey,
- 38:54Speaker 2: do we stick by this whole idea of there being
- 38:58Speaker 2: a lightsaber problem. Yes, there was a lightsaber in this show,
- 39:03Speaker 2: but it was not used in the way that majority
- 39:06Speaker 2: of people would think a lightsaber is used. And so
- 39:11Speaker 2: I think that we can steer, like you said, steer
- 39:16Speaker 2: away from just the very generic Star Wars galactic lightsaber
- 39:29Speaker 2: battle type of things and go right into the other genres,
- 39:37Speaker 2: which I will say a little teas into the future
- 39:40Speaker 2: of Star Wars Alliances calendar. We do have on our
- 39:47Speaker 2: list of things to do this year a conversational piece
- 39:52Speaker 2: being the top five movie genres we want to see
- 39:56Speaker 2: in Star Wars. Nice though, that's gonna be a topic
- 39:59Speaker 2: of discussion very very soon. It's gonna be a very
- 40:03Speaker 2: fun one. I know. Katie is a very big movie buff,
- 40:08Speaker 2: and so she's really big into talking about anything and
- 40:14Speaker 2: everything movies, and so I wanted to put that into
- 40:17Speaker 2: a more like Star Wars topic. So that's gonna be
- 40:21Speaker 2: a lot of fun.
- 40:23Speaker 1: Now. Yeah, there's so many cool ways to go with it.
- 40:25Speaker 1: I'm thinking about like my own favorites you and as
- 40:28Speaker 1: like you're saying it so so uh pod racing Fast
- 40:33Speaker 1: and Furious style movie, dude.
- 40:36Speaker 2: I exactly, there's so much out there. I have said
- 40:40Speaker 2: this to Katie. I've said this to my wife who
- 40:43Speaker 2: like watches stuff just because I watch it. She's not
- 40:45Speaker 2: like a huge fan of these things. But it's just
- 40:48Speaker 2: like there's so much out there. You know. We look
- 40:51Speaker 2: at the book genres, we look at things like The
- 40:55Speaker 2: Princess and the Scoundrel, that being a romance novel with
- 41:00Speaker 2: a little bit of action in it, and it's just
- 41:02Speaker 2: like it works. It totally works. If it could work
- 41:04Speaker 2: in this novel, I think it can one work on
- 41:07Speaker 2: the big screen or even the small screen. I genuinely
- 41:11Speaker 2: believe that vision shows too that like that stuff.
- 41:13Speaker 1: Yeah, and the vision shows too that you can do
- 41:16Speaker 1: it in any mediums. It doesn't have to be live
- 41:18Speaker 1: action too. Give me. There were like those two animation
- 41:22Speaker 1: shows that like were announced or something like that that
- 41:24Speaker 1: there's like two that were greenlit or something.
- 41:26Speaker 2: There's two in the works or whatever.
- 41:28Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, so do whatever. I don't care. I'm here
- 41:31Speaker 1: for it. I still think that Star Wars animation is
- 41:34Speaker 1: still like the best form of way to tell stories
- 41:36Speaker 1: in Star Wars. I still I will stand by that
- 41:38Speaker 1: forever bad best trilogy in the in the franchise, yes, or.
- 41:45Speaker 2: We didn't believe that in the first season, I will.
- 41:48Speaker 2: I will admit that. But for that second season, I
- 41:51Speaker 2: was ready for the third.
- 41:52Speaker 1: It's almost like if you just give it another season
- 41:55Speaker 1: and like let it, like let a story that has
- 41:58Speaker 1: a long length know and both those things can exist. Man,
- 42:03Speaker 1: we can have one season of this. We don't always
- 42:05Speaker 1: need a second season. I think that's another thing that like,
- 42:07Speaker 1: I think that this sezon shows we don't need a
- 42:09Speaker 1: second season because we know what happens. We know what
- 42:12Speaker 1: happens with like people in that we're with the New Republic.
- 42:17Speaker 1: So the thing is either one or two things are
- 42:19Speaker 1: going to happen to them. Most likely at the end
- 42:21Speaker 1: of the day. One they're either going to like live long,
- 42:25Speaker 1: good lives and be fine, or they're gonna be one
- 42:28Speaker 1: of the planets that get like blown up throod on
- 42:29Speaker 1: the first order, it's gonna be something like ridiculous like
- 42:32Speaker 1: that to make sure that they're not there for the
- 42:34Speaker 1: sequel trilogy, right, because that's what they're that's what they
- 42:36Speaker 1: always do. So it's good that that was a great story.
- 42:39Speaker 1: Let's do more. Let's talk more about like what you
- 42:42Speaker 1: you and Katie want to do, Like what other stuff
- 42:43Speaker 1: can we do like that was cool? Whatever, What other
- 42:46Speaker 1: like toy can we go get out of like the
- 42:48Speaker 1: toolbox and go play in the sand. And I think
- 42:50Speaker 1: that's how I see Star Wars right now, that it's
- 42:52Speaker 1: wide open. Man, it's wide open for whatever. We don't
- 42:54Speaker 1: need second seasons. We just need more stories, I think.
- 42:57Speaker 2: Yeah, But I think that is it unless you want
- 43:01Speaker 2: to add more to the actual topic of the finale itself.
- 43:06Speaker 1: No, I just think that's that's really just really good.
- 43:08Speaker 1: I think if I just push anything more than anything
- 43:11Speaker 1: when it comes to the shows, just don't. I think
- 43:15Speaker 1: talking about it is purely just the kids show belittles
- 43:17Speaker 1: what it actually does. It belittles maybe belittles the show,
- 43:21Speaker 1: be littles the creators. I think belittle's that your kids
- 43:23Speaker 1: if you think that your kids are the only ones
- 43:25Speaker 1: who can like handle this, like you can't get something
- 43:27Speaker 1: out of like a kid's show, feels very weird to me.
- 43:31Speaker 1: But you know, we had to remember that the line
- 43:34Speaker 1: from Fern, I don't remember exactly what is on the
- 43:36Speaker 1: top of my ex I haven't gone back and we
- 43:37Speaker 1: watched the episode yet, but something to the effect that like,
- 43:40Speaker 1: no matter where we went, all the dark places, there
- 43:43Speaker 1: were still people who were still people the progammering, you know,
- 43:47Speaker 1: there are more of us line the line was there,
- 43:49Speaker 1: and then where do those people come from?
- 43:50Speaker 2: You know?
- 43:50Speaker 1: One of them was a literal sex worker. I think
- 43:54Speaker 1: I think about like that conversation that you should be
- 43:57Speaker 1: having with your child to like let them know that,
- 43:58Speaker 1: like a sex worker is a just a person as
- 44:01Speaker 1: much as they are, right I can. Those are like
- 44:03Speaker 1: big conversations that I think this show does, because they
- 44:05Speaker 1: even do it in the things they throw away lines
- 44:08Speaker 1: of like what's a concubine? You think those kids aren't
- 44:10Speaker 1: at home asking their parents what a concubine is and
- 44:12Speaker 1: are having to explain like what that is? Right, So
- 44:15Speaker 1: this is like this this was a Star Wars for
- 44:17Speaker 1: everybody and really, it was so good not to have discourse.
- 44:23Speaker 1: Can we just like take a moment to appreciate whether
- 44:28Speaker 1: they watched it or not. The numbers say that they
- 44:30Speaker 1: didn't watch it, But if that side of the fandom
- 44:32Speaker 1: doesn't function up, we're so good because the future is
- 44:36Speaker 1: so bright.
- 44:37Speaker 2: Yeah, I will say this, kids did great in that
- 44:42Speaker 2: show us so good. I'm excited to see where any
- 44:47Speaker 2: and all of these kids move on to, you know,
- 44:51Speaker 2: whether that be other Disney productions, whether that be just
- 44:53Speaker 2: Hollywood in general. I think that they all did a
- 44:56Speaker 2: phenomenal job.
- 44:58Speaker 1: Yeah, and shout out the shout out the adults, because
- 45:00Speaker 1: the adults treated them like they were were serious looking
- 45:03Speaker 1: at like all the behind the scenes stuff that that's
- 45:05Speaker 1: coming out, and even like even in the finale itself,
- 45:08Speaker 1: we didn't really talk about that too much, but how
- 45:09Speaker 1: they flipped the script on him, right, Wendel's dad now
- 45:12Speaker 1: becomes the incompetent, you know, one in the clouds, believing
- 45:17Speaker 1: everything that he's reading type thing. Right, Fern's mom is
- 45:20Speaker 1: the one meekly standing back with Fern up front. I
- 45:24Speaker 1: think the only ones who are like really about it
- 45:26Speaker 1: were like Kb's parents and Neil's mom Where was Neil's dad?
- 45:31Speaker 1: How come Neil's dad wasn't help him, you know, to
- 45:34Speaker 1: have a giant he could up in one frame holding Well,
- 45:37Speaker 1: maybe he was at home with the kids. He was
- 45:38Speaker 1: at home with the kids, right, That's probably where he was.
- 45:42Speaker 2: I think that's the most hilarious thing is because out
- 45:45Speaker 2: of all of the parents, the one photo that I
- 45:48Speaker 2: saw the most as like promotional stuff was Neil's dad,
- 45:53Speaker 2: and he's like nowhere in the show, like we don't.
- 45:56Speaker 1: See him whatsoever. Yeah, we got thirst trap for no reason.
- 46:00Speaker 1: But when's mom or Neil's mom is cool? She was,
- 46:02Speaker 1: she was about it. She's like the only one that
- 46:04Speaker 1: the one I think about when I see all of
- 46:06Speaker 1: them is like the one with like Neil's mom like
- 46:08Speaker 1: squinting at John who pulled out the lightsaber, like the
- 46:11Speaker 1: one who's actually skeptical about all this stuff. She was
- 46:14Speaker 1: the first one to grab the things. She's like, I'm
- 46:16Speaker 1: gonna grab it and run. And I love her.
- 46:19Speaker 2: I love her.
- 46:20Speaker 1: The parent parents did great, and also I think Neil specifically,
- 46:24Speaker 1: if Star Wars please more aliens, more aliens, Yes, more aliens,
- 46:29Speaker 1: please more alien especially if you're going to put it
- 46:32Speaker 1: into production.
- 46:33Speaker 2: Like this being able to cegi everything still have these
- 46:37Speaker 2: kids mocap and and all of that work.
- 46:41Speaker 1: I think that works phenomenal. I can't wait to see
- 46:43Speaker 1: them seeing stuff for this. I want to see how
- 46:45Speaker 1: they made borgo and I want to know it was
- 46:47Speaker 1: a Takrud skin in that episode. I'm pretty sure it was.
- 46:54Speaker 2: But that is it for tonight, Adrian. Please tell our
- 46:58Speaker 2: listeners where they can follow you for all of your content.
- 47:03Speaker 1: Yeah, primarily now on threads and Instagram. I know everyone's
- 47:07Speaker 1: like leaving everything, but like that's where I'm at. That's
- 47:10Speaker 1: where I'm at.
- 47:11Speaker 2: You're not. You're not rebelling and jumping onto red note.
- 47:14Speaker 1: Yeah, no, I mean I'll jump on red Note. It
- 47:16Speaker 1: seems fun. I downloaded it. It seems fun. Wile West
- 47:20Speaker 1: out there.
- 47:20Speaker 2: I love it.
- 47:21Speaker 1: So find me on anywhere where you put in Super
- 47:24Speaker 1: ninety three and you'll probably find me there, most likely
- 47:27Speaker 1: just not Blue Sky. So that's like, it feels like
- 47:29Speaker 1: a whole other thing I have to go learn and
- 47:30Speaker 1: I don't. I'm good.
- 47:32Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm I'm currently using Blue Sky as more of
- 47:36Speaker 2: like a work related thing. So yeah, comics are very
- 47:42Speaker 2: very interesting right now.
- 47:43Speaker 1: I just yeah, and Star Wars Theory posted something a
- 47:45Speaker 1: couple of days ago and they like jumped them in
- 47:46Speaker 1: the in like the quote tweets and stuff. So I'm like, okay, yeah, yeah,
- 47:49Speaker 1: this is a better Star Wars community because like the
- 47:50Speaker 1: shitters aren't over here yet. So threads Star Wars community
- 47:54Speaker 1: for threads pretty good. And I was a bunch of
- 47:55Speaker 1: Star Wars twitter drama. But I don't care.
- 47:58Speaker 2: I need. I need to jump on threads more often
- 48:01Speaker 2: for sure. But of course, if you want to follow me,
- 48:06Speaker 2: go ahead and find me at Fanboy Clay anywhere and everywhere,
- 48:10Speaker 2: just like Adrian over here. I'm currently in the works
- 48:14Speaker 2: at the Geek Ultimate Alliance Network Ranger Alliance. We of
- 48:18Speaker 2: course have started our revamp and we are talking about
- 48:23Speaker 2: the Super Sentai starting with Boom Boomer. Very fun series.
- 48:27Speaker 2: We're having a lot of fun with it. And tomorrow
- 48:31Speaker 2: at the time of you actually listening to this live
- 48:33Speaker 2: on your podcast feeds. Currently right now, me and Joe
- 48:37Speaker 2: are actually recording an episode and talking about the new anime,
- 48:41Speaker 2: The Red Ranger Becomes an Adventurer in Another World. Yeah,
- 48:46Speaker 2: it's an anime series that just started this month. Very
- 48:50Speaker 2: fun first episode and I can't wait to hear what
- 48:54Speaker 2: Joe has to say about it, so be on the
- 48:57Speaker 2: lookout for that. And yeah, that is it for us.
- 49:03Speaker 2: Thank you again guys for listening to us. Oh, and
- 49:07Speaker 2: I will say this next week. Next week we have
- 49:12Speaker 2: the topic of it is going to be a DIY
- 49:17Speaker 2: Star Wars animated theatrical release. We have to give an
- 49:20Speaker 2: elevator pitch with what director we want and cast. So
- 49:26Speaker 2: we of course are very big into discussional topics this
- 49:30Speaker 2: year and look into what could be in the sense
- 49:36Speaker 2: of Star Wars overall. So I think that's gonna be
- 49:38Speaker 2: a lot of fun. So be on the lookout for
- 49:41Speaker 2: that next week. Thank you guys again and we will
- 49:45Speaker 2: see y'all next time.
