Latest / Relatables / EP 45 - WHY DO MEN GET SO DEFENSIVE ABOUT WOMEN'S EXPERIENCES?
Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: He's a thing, actually.
- 0:01Speaker 2: Apparently a lot of men aren't going down on their partners.
- 0:04Speaker 1: I actually have also heard this. Why not? Zero-sum thinking is,
- 0:11Speaker 1: in this particular situation, is like thinking that because women
- 0:16Speaker 1: are talking about their rights and things that are bad
- 0:21Speaker 1: that happen to them, if you're a zero-sum thinker, you
- 0:23Speaker 1: think that that takes away the bad things that have
- 0:28Speaker 1: happened to men. Whereas both things can be true at
- 0:32Speaker 1: the exact same time. In your ovulation, you're feeling your prettiest.
- 0:35Speaker 1: Feeling good. You know, you're feeling your horniest. Yeah. You're
- 0:37Speaker 1: probably feeling, you're just feeling your best all around. I
- 0:40Speaker 1: assume that's the best time. You could be right. To
- 0:44Speaker 1: be doing like a marathon or training. Logically, that makes sense.
- 0:47Speaker 1: As a man. That does make sense.
- 0:50Speaker 3: As a man.
- 0:51Speaker 1: Me over here with my 12-hour cycle. My 12-hour hormone cycle.
- 0:57Speaker 4: The Relatable Podcast is hosted by myself, Jake Craig, a.k.a.
- 1:10Speaker 1: Daddy Dingle. And my partner in crime, Mr. Oddie Clark, a.k.a. Land.
- 1:15Speaker 3: Land.
- 1:15Speaker 1: Land.
- 1:16Speaker 3: Land.
- 1:17Speaker 1: Mommy Milkers. You didn't land. You don't like milkers? Milkers
- 1:23Speaker 1: is a nice nickname for you. That would be me saying,
- 1:25Speaker 1: you got big chest. I got big pecs.
- 1:27Speaker 2: Funnily enough, actually, me and Cassie were talking about this
- 1:30Speaker 2: last night when we were going to sleep. She's like,
- 1:32Speaker 2: she doesn't know if she's.
- 1:33Speaker 1: Going to breastfeed or not or whatever. That's her choice.
- 1:35Speaker 1: She's like, would you taste my milk butt? And I said, yeah.
- 1:39Speaker 3: So would I.
- 1:40Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:44Speaker 2: I was i was surprised when cassie told me she
- 1:47Speaker 2: would taste her own as well she goes yeah because
- 1:50Speaker 2: i thought like i thought i could read her and
- 1:52Speaker 2: i didn't think she would just because i don't know
- 1:54Speaker 2: comes from her body you know she's like no i'll
- 1:56Speaker 2: taste that shit she's like i wouldn't drink it i'll
- 1:58Speaker 2: taste it oh she.
- 1:59Speaker 1: Would taste it okay i don't know why i put
- 2:01Speaker 1: it in the same category as this but i feel
- 2:03Speaker 1: like look i'm not gonna judge right but Is it
- 2:09Speaker 1: crazy to think that Cassie drinking her own breast milk
- 2:12Speaker 1: or tasting her own breast milk is kind of similar
- 2:14Speaker 1: to maybe like me or you tasting our own cum? Nah,
- 2:18Speaker 1: that's different, eh? You think it's different? Well, it's after
- 2:21Speaker 1: a baby's been born. I think it's different. I would
- 2:23Speaker 1: say that's different. Look, it is different. If you said
- 2:28Speaker 1: to me, I've tasted my own cum, I'd be like, gross. Yeah,
- 2:30Speaker 1: that's disgusting. What a start to the episode. But also,
- 2:33Speaker 1: if someone has done it, I also would be like, hey.
- 2:38Speaker 1: Curiosity gotcha. What was it like? No, that's disgusting. What
- 2:42Speaker 1: was it like? I finished myself off and then I'm like,
- 2:46Speaker 1: get that shit off me, please.
- 2:47Speaker 5: No, I've never.
- 2:49Speaker 1: I actually genuinely hand on how I can say I've
- 2:52Speaker 1: never tried it, but I just don't think I could
- 2:54Speaker 1: judge someone that had. I would just be like, what
- 2:56Speaker 1: does it taste like? Well, I've asked. My girlfriend. What
- 2:59Speaker 1: it tastes like. It's gross, apparently. Just, like, salty. It's, like,
- 3:02Speaker 1: it tastes as yuck, but it's the consistency that's gross.
- 3:05Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 3:05Speaker 2: And apparently, sometimes, like, it, like, tastes different. And, like,
- 3:08Speaker 2: I don't know if it's a placebo thing. It's, like,
- 3:11Speaker 2: if you don't like them as much, it tastes a
- 3:12Speaker 2: bit worse or whatever.
- 3:13Speaker 1: Okay. But I'm not sure. Yeah, if they have a
- 3:16Speaker 1: shitty diet. Yeah. You know, the whole pineapple thing. Yeah.
- 3:19Speaker 1: Is that legit? If you eat pineapple or drink pineapple
- 3:22Speaker 1: juice and, like, if you go down on your girlfriend
- 3:24Speaker 1: after she's eaten pineapple. Pineapple would taste good. I thought
- 3:26Speaker 1: it was the other way around. But no, it's the
- 3:28Speaker 1: same thing. If I was to eat pineapple, my milk
- 3:32Speaker 1: would taste better. Apparently. Here's the thing, actually.
- 3:36Speaker 2: Apparently a lot of men aren't going down on their partners.
- 3:39Speaker 1: I actually have also heard this. Why not? It's a
- 3:44Speaker 1: good question. I don't know. I don't know why I've always...
- 3:47Speaker 1: That's always been something that's turned me on.
- 3:49Speaker 2: Oh, I get turned on massively. One, I would understand
- 3:52Speaker 2: if they don't want to be gone down on every time.
- 3:56Speaker 1: Or whatever. Wait, do you mean if a man doesn't
- 4:00Speaker 1: want to be going down every time? No, no, no.
- 4:02Speaker 2: The other way around, like if the woman phase in
- 4:06Speaker 2: their cycle, whatever, doesn't feel like, I don't want you
- 4:07Speaker 2: to go down there, whatever, I just want to have sex.
- 4:09Speaker 1: Understandable.
- 4:10Speaker 2: But every once in a while, I can at least
- 4:12Speaker 2: offer like, I don't know, three out of five times.
- 4:15Speaker 1: I agree, yeah. I think it's got to be more than,
- 4:17Speaker 1: you've got to offer more often than not. Yeah, 100%.
- 4:21Speaker 1: It's a thing. Some guys don't like going down. Yeah. Yeah,
- 4:24Speaker 1: this should be your... They don't like the taste. They
- 4:26Speaker 1: don't like the feel. To the six men listening right now.
- 4:29Speaker 1: I've had someone tell me that they had an ex
- 4:32Speaker 1: who didn't like going down because they thought it was
- 4:35Speaker 1: like licking a mango. Like a vagina? What? I thought
- 4:40Speaker 1: it was like licking a mango.
- 4:40Speaker 3: Also, mango is delicious.
- 4:42Speaker 1: Yeah, true, actually. You know what? I wouldn't mind maybe
- 4:45Speaker 1: cutting a mango up and just eating it that way,
- 4:48Speaker 1: if I'm being completely honest with you, and getting real messy.
- 4:51Speaker 1: Licking that shit up. Let's be real. It's about as
- 4:54Speaker 1: messy as a mango. Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. They are messy.
- 4:57Speaker 1: Especially if you do it right. Bro.
- 5:01Speaker 2: Actually, on Patreon, we can plug it early, we did
- 5:05Speaker 2: a course on how to eat pussy.
- 5:07Speaker 1: Oh, that was ages ago. Yeah, it's still on Patreon.
- 5:09Speaker 1: We watched a video on how to do it. Is there? 899?
- 5:11Speaker 1: What was it called? Didn't she call it like the
- 5:13Speaker 1: face melter or something? Yeah, it was just like you
- 5:15Speaker 1: lick an ice cream. Don't overcomplicate things. I still think
- 5:20Speaker 1: if you are a woman with a boyfriend whose skill
- 5:24Speaker 1: level going down on you is subpar. You've got to
- 5:28Speaker 1: cook there. You've got to recommend a few books. Just recommend. Honestly,
- 5:33Speaker 1: just get him to read the chapters of Zayden and Violet.
- 5:37Speaker 1: She explains the way he goes down on her so well,
- 5:39Speaker 1: and I genuinely think of that when I do it.
- 5:41Speaker 2: Do you think it's a technique thing, or if that's
- 5:44Speaker 2: the case, if they've got to read books, more of
- 5:45Speaker 2: like a confidence thing? He's down there being like, I
- 5:50Speaker 2: don't know what to do. Or he's like, I'm fucking casting,
- 5:53Speaker 2: I'm going to eat this thing until it fucking explodes.
- 5:55Speaker 1: Actually, that's a good point. It's like, is the build-up
- 5:58Speaker 1: part of it in the sense of how maybe... in
- 6:02Speaker 1: books they kind of like growl and they're like i
- 6:05Speaker 1: just want to taste you yeah knowing that if he
- 6:08Speaker 1: goes like i just want to taste you would that
- 6:10Speaker 1: turn you on heaps and go and like no matter
- 6:12Speaker 1: how he does does it then feel.
- 6:14Speaker 2: Good that's a good question actually i think it is
- 6:17Speaker 2: because like sex is 100 as much as as a
- 6:20Speaker 2: factor being the build-up as it is actual like sex
- 6:23Speaker 2: sex yeah and like kissing and how like if you're
- 6:26Speaker 2: in a group have you ever been like kissing and
- 6:27Speaker 2: you're like like touching each other, then something happens. Like
- 6:30Speaker 2: maybe a dog barks or the TV, you hit the
- 6:32Speaker 2: remote and it goes really loud or something and.
- 6:33Speaker 1: You lose the rhythm. Yeah, you can lose a bit
- 6:35Speaker 1: of rhythm for sure.
- 6:36Speaker 2: Yeah, I feel like that takes away from the sex
- 6:37Speaker 2: a little bit. I need a couple more minutes to
- 6:40Speaker 2: get back into it.
- 6:41Speaker 1: No, very valid. Very valid. I will say, so I
- 6:49Speaker 1: don't like even having a dog in the room, even
- 6:52Speaker 1: though they can't judge.
- 6:53Speaker 2: I don't like dogs sitting naked either.
- 6:55Speaker 1: You don't like a dog seeing you naked? Nah, not really.
- 6:57Speaker 1: Who cares? Me, I feel like he's got his own eyes.
- 7:01Speaker 1: What do you think he's sitting there? Do you think
- 7:03Speaker 1: a dog's judging you when you're naked? I always say,
- 7:06Speaker 1: don't look hurly. He's also the family dog. To be fair,
- 7:10Speaker 1: your dogs are both your dogs. Yeah.
- 7:11Speaker 2: Like this dog could be going over and snitching to
- 7:13Speaker 2: the family.
- 7:14Speaker 1: The tea that they have on humans is next level.
- 7:19Speaker 1: What do you think Darcy, your sausage dog sounds like? Brat.
- 7:23Speaker 1: Very bratty. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And I'm going to go,
- 7:26Speaker 1: have you watched the show? Oh my God, what's it called?
- 7:31Speaker 1: Uptown Girl. Or Uptown Girls, maybe? I've heard of it. Yeah,
- 7:35Speaker 1: I'm going to go with the little girl from Uptown Girls.
- 7:38Speaker 3: Okay.
- 7:39Speaker 1: Kind of, she's very confident. And the reason she's very
- 7:42Speaker 1: confident is because her mother works all the time. She's
- 7:44Speaker 1: always got a new nanny. So she's very independent. Yeah.
- 7:46Speaker 1: And Darcy's like not super independent. She's being a bit
- 7:49Speaker 1: more independent now, but she's just like, you know, have
- 7:53Speaker 1: you ever heard the, TikTok sound like News flash Take
- 7:58Speaker 1: a look around Blah blah That's from that And I
- 8:01Speaker 1: think Darcy sounds like that I think she's just like
- 8:03Speaker 1: Bratty Yeah Kind of gets what she was And I
- 8:06Speaker 1: think Henry.
- 8:06Speaker 5: Cunt Beth and I have always thought this Beth and
- 8:14Speaker 5: I have always thought Henry Like douchey.
- 8:17Speaker 2: You guys keep him in check Yeah He's good He's
- 8:19Speaker 2: got you two as owners Very douchey He could like
- 8:22Speaker 2: Take advantage of Funnily enough, actually, I've noticed editing the podcast.
- 8:26Speaker 1: You're a fan of You Wouldn't.
- 8:28Speaker 2: Did you clip the thing of you calling out?
- 8:30Speaker 1: I have it there and I'm in two minds of
- 8:33Speaker 1: whether I want to post it.
- 8:34Speaker 2: I can now say that they're a bad influence on you.
- 8:37Speaker 1: Why? You've started saying cunt. I know they say it
- 8:40Speaker 1: all the time. Ten times more now. Your first reaction
- 8:45Speaker 1: is fucking cunt. I need to stop saying it. What
- 8:49Speaker 1: could we replace it with? What if I start saying aunt? Aunt? Yeah,
- 8:55Speaker 1: I don't know. Do you know what else they do
- 8:57Speaker 1: on that show? They speak in, I think it's pig Latin.
- 9:00Speaker 1: So it's like aunt K. I've never understood that though.
- 9:03Speaker 1: They say like aunt K or you could be like
- 9:06Speaker 1: egg J for my name. Egg J.
- 9:07Speaker 2: Yeah, see, I do understand what you're saying.
- 9:10Speaker 1: But it's just you take away the first letter, say
- 9:12Speaker 1: the rest of the word, and then you take the
- 9:14Speaker 1: first letter and just add like A on it. You're
- 9:17Speaker 1: easily impressionable, mate. What do you want to do? For
- 9:21Speaker 1: the word? instead of see you went to yeah what's
- 9:23Speaker 1: the Jake what I could say I could start saying
- 9:25Speaker 1: see you next Tuesday you brought um broski back like
- 9:29Speaker 1: a couple weeks ago you started saying broski a fair
- 9:30Speaker 1: bit where'd that come from and you know what I
- 9:32Speaker 1: actually don't even think that's from you wouldn't.
- 9:33Speaker 2: Yeah I think I thought that maybe that's you you
- 9:34Speaker 2: can do that and say like broski broski broski I
- 9:38Speaker 2: keep feeling the floor vibrate yeah oh Sam is that
- 9:42Speaker 2: your phone.
- 9:45Speaker 1: Ah shit well Oli what we haven't seen each other
- 9:48Speaker 1: for what how long a week was I with you
- 9:51Speaker 1: last week.
- 9:51Speaker 2: We saw Noah Khan last, was that last Friday?
- 9:54Speaker 1: A week and a half. A week and a half,
- 9:57Speaker 1: I guess. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And we spoke about Noah
- 9:59Speaker 1: Khan on the Patreon. episode.
- 10:00Speaker 3: We did.
- 10:01Speaker 1: If you guys want to hear about that, you're probably
- 10:02Speaker 1: going to have to go over there. Because it was good.
- 10:03Speaker 1: Because we could go into it again, but we really
- 10:05Speaker 1: did go into it. But what have you been up to?
- 10:08Speaker 1: I enjoyed.
- 10:11Speaker 2: I really like how we do things at the moment
- 10:13Speaker 2: where like we work for a week and then kind
- 10:15Speaker 2: of we do our own thing for a week, just edit,
- 10:17Speaker 2: which is like our own time, which I thoroughly enjoyed.
- 10:19Speaker 2: I think Ryan in the gym and we started the
- 10:23Speaker 2: baddies 75 day bootcamp.
- 10:25Speaker 1: Yeah. Just a little fitness.
- 10:26Speaker 2: So I'm not going to call it fitness, a little
- 10:28Speaker 2: health cleanse on Patreon as well.
- 10:30Speaker 1: Yeah. So also I think what I'm, so over on Patreon,
- 10:33Speaker 1: we've done 75 days. what do we call it the
- 10:36Speaker 1: baddies bootcamp 75 days basically so it's a version of
- 10:40Speaker 1: 75 hard I was actually explaining it to my younger
- 10:43Speaker 1: brother I said like there's 75 hard and then someone
- 10:47Speaker 1: people have created 75 soft which is obviously a soft
- 10:50Speaker 1: version of 75 hard I think ours is like 75
- 10:53Speaker 1: firm you know it's not it's not easy Yeah, but
- 10:59Speaker 1: it's not soft. But it's not soft. And it's not hard.
- 11:02Speaker 2: If someone said to me, oh, what are you being
- 11:03Speaker 2: up to? What are you triangling? I'm like, I'm doing
- 11:05Speaker 2: the 75 soft. Sounds like I'm not getting a boner
- 11:08Speaker 2: for a fucking 75 days.
- 11:10Speaker 1: Like, no nut November. Yeah, that's what it sounds like.
- 11:13Speaker 1: I'm doing 75 soft. If I get a boner, I
- 11:15Speaker 1: have to restart. I'm doing the baddies bootcamp. If I
- 11:17Speaker 1: cave and have a wank, I have to restart. 75
- 11:19Speaker 1: days of no wanking. Here's the thing I don't like
- 11:21Speaker 1: about 75 hard is the fact that it's like, You've
- 11:24Speaker 1: got to do this, this, this, this, this. And if
- 11:25Speaker 1: you miss one thing, you have to restart from day one.
- 11:28Speaker 1: And you have to do the whole 75 days. I
- 11:31Speaker 1: wanted to encourage that if you miss something, allow yourself
- 11:34Speaker 1: a bit of forgiveness. Well, yeah, 75 Hard's.
- 11:37Speaker 2: All about rewiring your brain in a toxic, misogynistic way,
- 11:42Speaker 2: I think.
- 11:43Speaker 1: It's about... What's it called? What's it saying? Discipline.
- 11:48Speaker 2: Yeah, it's the whole thing of like... There's something about...
- 11:53Speaker 2: I actually saw the funniest video on Instagram and it
- 11:56Speaker 2: described me perfectly. It was like, do you know how
- 11:59Speaker 2: there's a lot of, I hate to be in this category,
- 12:01Speaker 2: but a lot of men on social media are now.
- 12:03Speaker 1: Like, what do you call them?
- 12:05Speaker 2: They're not quite in the manosphere, but they use Instagram
- 12:07Speaker 2: as a business and they funnel everything.
- 12:09Speaker 1: To their course. Yeah. I mean, yeah, it's hard sometimes
- 12:12Speaker 1: because sometimes they aren't in the manosphere. But what would
- 12:16Speaker 1: you even call, should we create a name for them?
- 12:18Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 12:20Speaker 1: Chris Griffin. I mean, what? Cispods. Cispods. Cispods. Cispods. Cispods. Yeah, yeah.
- 12:25Speaker 1: Because cis means like, so you and I are cis
- 12:29Speaker 1: white men.
- 12:29Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 12:30Speaker 1: I don't actually know what cis means. It's short for
- 12:31Speaker 1: something anyway. I think it's something about being straight maybe.
- 12:34Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 12:34Speaker 1: But we can call them cispods. Yeah, okay. They're not
- 12:37Speaker 1: quite in the manosphere, but they're like on the cusp. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 12:39Speaker 2: And I saw some video describing how they get there.
- 12:43Speaker 2: And it was like, so most of these people start
- 12:44Speaker 2: off playing sport quite competitively, but they don't make it.
- 12:48Speaker 2: They're not quite good enough, which is me. And then
- 12:50Speaker 2: they get into the gym.
- 12:51Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 12:51Speaker 2: They start growing in the gym, start growing some muscles.
- 12:53Speaker 2: And from the gym, they start to look really good.
- 12:55Speaker 2: So they get really confident. Then they get some style
- 12:58Speaker 2: about themselves. And so they look good. They feel good.
- 13:00Speaker 2: They think they can take on the world. You know
- 13:02Speaker 2: what the next thing they do is?
- 13:03Speaker 3: What?
- 13:03Speaker 1: They sell a course.
- 13:04Speaker 2: They start a business. They think that's how I can
- 13:06Speaker 2: take on the world. I was like, I'm just lucky
- 13:07Speaker 2: enough that our business is like.
- 13:09Speaker 1: Nice. You know what you got lucky with? Is the
- 13:12Speaker 1: fact that we got women listening and not men. True.
- 13:16Speaker 1: Cause if we got men listening, I think we'd be fine.
- 13:19Speaker 1: If we, if we got men list, look, I think
- 13:22Speaker 1: this is who we are at our core. Right. But
- 13:24Speaker 1: I do think if men listened, right. And they gassed
- 13:28Speaker 1: up some of the, cause you know, back in the day,
- 13:31Speaker 1: we've changed a lot since the podcast has started. If
- 13:33Speaker 1: you go back all the way, like we were a
- 13:35Speaker 1: bit more in, I'm still very influential, but just like,
- 13:39Speaker 1: I think having women listen and then comment things about
- 13:42Speaker 1: things we say and just explain stuff and then us
- 13:44Speaker 1: being willing to listen and change a mindset. I think
- 13:48Speaker 1: if it was men listening, maybe that wouldn't have happened.
- 13:50Speaker 1: So you got lucky. We wouldn't have changed as much.
- 13:52Speaker 1: You got lucky, mate. You might have jumped on some peptides.
- 13:56Speaker 1: You'd be tan. You probably would have got a hair
- 14:01Speaker 1: transplant even though you don't need it. and you would
- 14:03Speaker 1: have started selling it for us. But you're going to
- 14:05Speaker 1: get one anyway and we have the girl listeners. No,
- 14:06Speaker 1: but it's all right. I'm allowed to get one because
- 14:07Speaker 1: I need it. I was just going to get it
- 14:11Speaker 1: because it makes me... I was going to get that
- 14:12Speaker 1: straight line so people know I sell it. I want
- 14:15Speaker 1: that straight line. Really?
- 14:16Speaker 3: I don't like it.
- 14:17Speaker 1: I don't like the tiny... I want the straight line.
- 14:19Speaker 1: Your hair looks good. No, but I'm actually not... I'll
- 14:22Speaker 1: show the baddies.
- 14:23Speaker 3: Fuck it.
- 14:24Speaker 1: See, I think you get away with it, hey. Like
- 14:25Speaker 1: the way you're... If you shaved your head or if
- 14:27Speaker 1: you were a samurai... If I shaved my head, you'd
- 14:28Speaker 1: be like... Or if you were a samurai, like you'd
- 14:31Speaker 1: be stuffed with your hair tied up. His hair is...
- 14:34Speaker 1: I saw a guy at the gym like two days
- 14:36Speaker 1: ago and the first thing I thought when I saw
- 14:41Speaker 1: this guy was it's time to give it up. He's
- 14:43Speaker 1: got hair tied up, right? I'd let it go. But
- 14:49Speaker 1: the hair he's got that's long goes from like the
- 14:52Speaker 1: sort of like his mid crown, the classic thing, mid
- 14:55Speaker 1: crown to the back of his head. That's all really
- 14:57Speaker 1: long and tied up. The top of his head is
- 14:59Speaker 1: like thin, short hair that he's trying to keep. And
- 15:03Speaker 1: I thought, it's time to give up, bro. Imagine you
- 15:06Speaker 1: went out to him and be like, it's time. It's time.
- 15:10Speaker 1: You ever thought about maybe just shaving your head? Oh, yeah.
- 15:13Speaker 1: I'm talking about that guy. Oh, yeah. I thought you
- 15:16Speaker 1: were asking me a genuine question. It's a good way
- 15:17Speaker 1: to get punched. All I do is just like fawn
- 15:22Speaker 1: over men these days. You do. Talking about you wouldn't
- 15:24Speaker 1: just like, they won't even talk to me back. Luke
- 15:25Speaker 1: Bateman was the first one. Luke Bateman. I didn't even last.
- 15:27Speaker 3: Night, actually.
- 15:28Speaker 1: We didn't even mention it. Has Pat not replied to you?
- 15:30Speaker 1: Still hasn't replied. Oh. But I was too scared to
- 15:32Speaker 1: post the video. And I could always message him, but
- 15:34Speaker 1: I just thought, fuck, ball's in there, cool. Let's play
- 15:38Speaker 1: my cards right. You say you're playing hard to get now.
- 15:42Speaker 1: He's playing hard to get.
- 15:43Speaker 5: He's playing hard to get.
- 15:45Speaker 1: He's the one that's playing hard to get. I'm not
- 15:46Speaker 1: going to go out there and beg him. I'm not
- 15:48Speaker 1: just going to beg you. You were. Well, no, no,
- 15:51Speaker 1: I'm not just going to beg them. I was going
- 15:52Speaker 1: to try and start beef on Instagram. Should I go
- 15:54Speaker 1: on your pod and say cunt with you? Please, Pat.
- 15:59Speaker 1: I obviously am very influenceable though because so I listen
- 16:02Speaker 1: to you wouldn't. You're a product of your environment. Now
- 16:04Speaker 1: I'm saying can't. All right. And then also Beth says
- 16:08Speaker 1: that when you and I are together, I end up
- 16:10Speaker 1: eating with my mouth open. I'm obviously, I just mirror people.
- 16:14Speaker 1: Actually last night at dinner with Luke Bates, I actually,
- 16:18Speaker 1: oh my God. So I messaged him asking him to
- 16:20Speaker 1: hang out and he goes, yeah, let's do this. So
- 16:22Speaker 1: I said to Beth on Sunday, I'm going to go
- 16:24Speaker 1: get dinner with Luke Bateman. She goes, you could just
- 16:27Speaker 1: say Luke. You could, eh? I literally could. She goes,
- 16:31Speaker 1: you don't know any other Lukes. You could just say Luke, eh? Yeah,
- 16:35Speaker 1: now he's your friend too. And I was thinking. Keep
- 16:37Speaker 1: name dropping. I said, that's valid. I do keep name dropping. Anyway.
- 16:40Speaker 1: He was talking about last night. In a long-winded way,
- 16:44Speaker 1: if this has got anything to do with me mirroring people,
- 16:46Speaker 1: I wonder if he said that he has an anxious
- 16:52Speaker 1: attachment style. He does. Opposed to some people have an
- 16:56Speaker 1: avoidant attachment style. And so he explained it and he
- 16:59Speaker 1: explained pretty much exactly how I am with a lot
- 17:03Speaker 1: of people.
- 17:04Speaker 3: Right.
- 17:05Speaker 1: So I wonder if me mirroring is partly to do
- 17:09Speaker 1: with anxious attachment. Because actually anxious attachment. What's the connection though?
- 17:15Speaker 1: I don't know if it's like, if I mirror someone,
- 17:18Speaker 1: they're going to like me like subconsciously type of thing.
- 17:21Speaker 1: You know what I mean? It's like, they're going to
- 17:23Speaker 1: have no reason. Like I won't be the one to
- 17:26Speaker 1: upset them because I'm, Exactly like them? Yeah, 100%. I
- 17:30Speaker 1: don't know.
- 17:30Speaker 2: Well, because when we lived together, you were way more
- 17:34Speaker 2: into the gym.
- 17:35Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 17:35Speaker 1: Because I love the gym.
- 17:36Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 17:36Speaker 2: And also, we used to surf as well. And now,
- 17:40Speaker 2: I'm not as big a part of your life outside
- 17:42Speaker 2: the podcast.
- 17:43Speaker 1: You don't do it. You still gym occasionally, but it
- 17:45Speaker 1: didn't stick as much. From the 75 hard starting?
- 17:48Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 17:48Speaker 1: Oh, what I wanted to say as well about it
- 17:49Speaker 1: is you can still sign up for it. Yeah. Join Patreon.
- 17:53Speaker 1: We're on day six as we record this. But join
- 17:56Speaker 1: in at day 10, 20, 30, whatever. Do the last
- 17:59Speaker 1: 50 days. Do the last however many days. And then
- 18:04Speaker 1: just be a part of the other one. You know,
- 18:06Speaker 1: you got to go on Patreon, of course. It's $ 8. 99
- 18:08Speaker 1: a month. Worth it. Worth it because you get to
- 18:11Speaker 1: be part of the crew. We go in there. We
- 18:12Speaker 1: have updates all the time. We're having a good time.
- 18:14Speaker 1: What was I talking about before that?
- 18:16Speaker 2: You having an anxious attachment style. Could you switch it
- 18:19Speaker 2: the other way though too because like, In your relationship,
- 18:21Speaker 2: Beth loves dogs.
- 18:22Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 18:23Speaker 1: You also like dogs. Yeah. And you love them as well.
- 18:25Speaker 1: I just know way more about them now. Yeah, but
- 18:27Speaker 1: like you've jumped into the deep end, I would say
- 18:30Speaker 1: heavily influenced by Beth. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 18:32Speaker 2: And is it a thing where like it's not a
- 18:35Speaker 2: negative thing about it? What could the positive be of that?
- 18:37Speaker 6: Because like you just want to support who's in your.
- 18:40Speaker 2: Life and who you like to hang out with.
- 18:41Speaker 1: That's a good point, actually. I don't think there is
- 18:43Speaker 1: anything wrong with being either anxious attachment or avoidant attachment.
- 18:46Speaker 1: I think as long as you're aware of it, that's
- 18:48Speaker 1: the main thing because it's like you're going to react
- 18:50Speaker 1: to something kind of without choosing how you react to
- 18:53Speaker 1: it initially. You're going to feel certain feelings. But if
- 18:56Speaker 1: you can be aware that it's like, oh, I know
- 18:59Speaker 1: in the past I've been pretty bad with avoidant attachment
- 19:01Speaker 1: or anxious attachment. And, you know, a situation comes up
- 19:05Speaker 1: where you're going, whoa, whoa, whoa, you're just wigging out.
- 19:09Speaker 1: It's like, oh no, I need to make sure I
- 19:11Speaker 1: recognize said thing.
- 19:13Speaker 2: Well, yeah, I'm a big believer in if you do
- 19:16Speaker 2: have something that is objectively a bad trait.
- 19:20Speaker 1: People like make it sound like it's bad.
- 19:22Speaker 2: Yeah, but just being able to, like we're all human.
- 19:25Speaker 2: Everyone has like things that they need to work on
- 19:27Speaker 2: and like no one's perfect. And I think social media
- 19:29Speaker 2: has built this false expectation that everyone's perfect.
- 19:33Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 19:34Speaker 2: Whereas in reality, if you have something wrong with you,
- 19:35Speaker 2: the best thing you can do is, especially to people,
- 19:37Speaker 2: who are close to you, tell them like, oh no,
- 19:39Speaker 2: this actually makes me really anxious. And I'm like, I'm
- 19:41Speaker 2: working on it, but also like I have an anxious
- 19:43Speaker 2: attachment style. oh that's so fun oh yeah true.
- 19:45Speaker 1: It's like don't use it as an excuse for things
- 19:47Speaker 1: but just there's nothing wrong with having you don't have
- 19:50Speaker 1: to be perfect i know everyone feels like they do
- 19:52Speaker 1: yeah even if you think about it right like the
- 19:55Speaker 1: thing with social media is no one has a perfect
- 19:59Speaker 1: life but on social media you just post the things
- 20:02Speaker 1: that are going well yeah no one really posts the
- 20:06Speaker 1: things that aren't going well And honestly, more often than not,
- 20:09Speaker 1: the people that do post those things are the ones
- 20:10Speaker 1: that do the best on social media. Yeah, well, it's real.
- 20:13Speaker 2: And that's what life's really about. And I think that's
- 20:15Speaker 2: probably one of the worst things that's come from social
- 20:17Speaker 2: media is like, it's not real.
- 20:21Speaker 1: Nah. Like people's lives aren't aesthetic.
- 20:23Speaker 2: It's funny too, because you see a lot of people
- 20:25Speaker 2: saying like, I saw so-and-so in person and it looked
- 20:27Speaker 2: nothing like their profiles.
- 20:29Speaker 1: Obviously.
- 20:30Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 20:30Speaker 2: Like they've taken a thousand photos and they've picked the
- 20:33Speaker 2: very best one, which I think is good for social
- 20:34Speaker 2: media and running a business or whatever.
- 20:36Speaker 1: Obviously, they look like everyone else. Everyone's got a bit
- 20:39Speaker 1: of fat here or there. Everyone's got a little bit
- 20:40Speaker 1: of acne. Everyone's a bit skinnier, a bit whiter, a
- 20:42Speaker 1: bit fat. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Everyone's like, no one's 100%
- 20:44Speaker 1: happy with themselves.
- 20:45Speaker 2: No one walks around with just like a fucking full
- 20:47Speaker 2: ripped six pack with who's been sweating on Melanotan in
- 20:50Speaker 2: Bali for three weeks. And then you're like, fuck, he
- 20:52Speaker 2: didn't look like that.
- 20:53Speaker 1: I know. It's so hard not to compare yourself to
- 20:56Speaker 1: other people. Oh, it's so hard. It's so difficult.
- 20:58Speaker 2: I think it's also hard to like accept that there's
- 21:01Speaker 2: things wrong with you.
- 21:03Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 21:04Speaker 1: Yeah. Beth sent me a thing yesterday that was really,
- 21:06Speaker 1: really cool. It was a guy actually on TikTok explaining.
- 21:11Speaker 1: He said like, he goes full transparency when I used
- 21:14Speaker 1: to see things about women's rights and just the way
- 21:19Speaker 1: women are treated, all those things along those lines, right?
- 21:22Speaker 1: He said it used to really aggravate him and piss
- 21:26Speaker 1: him off, right? And he'd be like, oh, what about men?
- 21:30Speaker 1: What about The things that happen to men. What about this?
- 21:32Speaker 1: What about that? And then he goes on to explain
- 21:35Speaker 1: that that is called... It's a certain type of thinking.
- 21:39Speaker 1: I might just quickly find it. It'll be easy to
- 21:41Speaker 1: find because Beth sent it to me yesterday.
- 21:42Speaker 2: It's like how your immediate thinking deflects.
- 21:44Speaker 1: It's called zero-sum thinking. And so zero-sum thinking is that,
- 21:48Speaker 1: funnily enough, fucking Luke explained it yesterday at an interview
- 21:52Speaker 1: I watched him in. He did it. I called him Luke.
- 21:54Speaker 5: I know.
- 21:55Speaker 1: I really thought about that. So zero-sum thinking is... In
- 21:59Speaker 1: terms of, so let's say you're a man and women's
- 22:01Speaker 1: rights triggers you and you're like, what about men? What
- 22:05Speaker 1: about this? What about that? Blah, blah, blah. So zero-sum
- 22:08Speaker 1: thinking is in this particular situation is like thinking that
- 22:13Speaker 1: because women are talking about their rights and things that
- 22:19Speaker 1: are bad that happened to them. If you're a zero-sum thinker,
- 22:22Speaker 1: you think like that that takes away the bad things
- 22:27Speaker 1: that have happened to men. Whereas both things can be
- 22:31Speaker 1: true at the exact same time, right? Like you are
- 22:34Speaker 1: allowed to listen and be compassionate and feel empathy and
- 22:38Speaker 1: want things to change for women. And you're also allowed
- 22:41Speaker 1: to feel the same way about bad things that have
- 22:43Speaker 1: happened to men.
- 22:44Speaker 2: It should not be in the same conversation almost.
- 22:47Speaker 1: So it's like, it's similar to, let's say you have
- 22:50Speaker 1: an argument with a girlfriend, with your girlfriend, right? And
- 22:54Speaker 1: she brings something up that's hurt you. And then you go, well,
- 22:57Speaker 1: you did this that hurt me. you know, why, why
- 23:02Speaker 1: she's bringing up something that hurt, that hurt her. Yeah.
- 23:05Speaker 1: Why are you then, it's like a kind of a
- 23:06Speaker 1: zero sum, zero sum way to think, to be like, well,
- 23:08Speaker 1: you've done this that hurt me.
- 23:09Speaker 2: And the brain does go there kind of just like that.
- 23:12Speaker 1: You get defensive.
- 23:13Speaker 2: Yeah, and you've got to catch yourself out. I catch
- 23:14Speaker 2: myself out all the time if we have a little
- 23:16Speaker 2: argument or disagreement. I'm like, no, we're not talking about that.
- 23:18Speaker 2: And I haven't talked about it, so that's my problem.
- 23:20Speaker 1: Exactly, yeah. It's like it's your fault. Don't just feel
- 23:22Speaker 1: like now that stuff's getting brought up, you just get
- 23:24Speaker 1: to bring stuff up because it deflects. It's just a
- 23:28Speaker 1: tactic of trying to get them to feel bad, I guess.
- 23:30Speaker 2: It deflects the issue too, yeah.
- 23:32Speaker 1: Like there's this video, right, of I think that there's,
- 23:36Speaker 1: you know Jordan Peterson?
- 23:38Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 23:38Speaker 1: There's this video of him like, oh. completely obliterating feminist
- 23:43Speaker 1: interviewer okay and so she'll talk about uh she talks
- 23:47Speaker 1: about like the effects of patriarchy on women right and
- 23:50Speaker 1: then his way of completely obliterating her was saying well
- 23:56Speaker 1: you know everyone in manual labor is men most people
- 24:00Speaker 1: you always hear that yeah most people in prison are
- 24:02Speaker 1: men yeah most people that kill themselves are men And
- 24:04Speaker 1: that's a zero-sum way of thinking because you're just trying
- 24:07Speaker 1: to undermine. That makes so much sense of an example. Yeah.
- 24:11Speaker 1: Isn't that fucking like when stuff gets explained to you
- 24:14Speaker 1: in that way, you just think like, we're dumb. We're
- 24:18Speaker 1: dumb as fuck.
- 24:19Speaker 2: Well, the first time you experience it too is just like,
- 24:21Speaker 2: I don't know if this is a good example or not,
- 24:23Speaker 2: but like say I have an issue or whatever, I
- 24:25Speaker 2: come to you and be like, I don't know, like
- 24:28Speaker 2: I've been really sad lately.
- 24:29Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 24:29Speaker 2: And you go, well, there's kids starving in Africa.
- 24:33Speaker 1: Yeah. It's the same.
- 24:36Speaker 2: You experienced that in high school.
- 24:38Speaker 1: It's not dissimilar, to be fair.
- 24:40Speaker 2: Obviously, that's a terrible issue that there's diving kids in Africa.
- 24:42Speaker 2: But also, I'm still sad.
- 24:44Speaker 1: It's actually not so dissimilar. That's a good point.
- 24:46Speaker 2: I didn't know it had a name like that.
- 24:48Speaker 1: Zero-sum thinking. And it happens with everything, right? Zero-sum thinking
- 24:53Speaker 1: in the way of maybe, I don't know, a big
- 24:58Speaker 1: influencer starts a podcast. And we go, fuck them. That's
- 25:03Speaker 1: our thing. It's like there's enough slices of pizza to
- 25:08Speaker 1: go around, you know? Like there's enough. I think you
- 25:12Speaker 1: actually bring up a good point right there.
- 25:15Speaker 2: For some reason, like there really is enough slices of
- 25:19Speaker 2: pizza for every single person, for every single industry. But
- 25:24Speaker 2: for some reason, we get greedy and we think, no,
- 25:26Speaker 2: that's our thing.
- 25:27Speaker 1: No, I did that. I did that first.
- 25:29Speaker 2: And rather than help someone or get inspired by someone
- 25:31Speaker 2: or talk to someone and say, hey, you inspired me.
- 25:33Speaker 1: We try and we steal content or we're like, no,
- 25:35Speaker 1: I'm at the top. I'm going to stay here. No
- 25:37Speaker 1: one can touch me. Literally.
- 25:38Speaker 2: We have that mindset, especially in Australia.
- 25:42Speaker 1: Everyone talks about Australia being like that. I feel like
- 25:44Speaker 1: this whole world's like that. I agree. Like, is it
- 25:46Speaker 1: that bad in Australia? Really?
- 25:48Speaker 2: I reckon just like something's going on in Australia.
- 25:51Speaker 1: It's just like.
- 25:52Speaker 2: I can't put in the words what's going on in Australia.
- 25:54Speaker 1: It's just bad vibes. People talk about tall poppy syndrome
- 25:57Speaker 1: in Australia, right? And everyone says it's really bad. And
- 25:59Speaker 1: there's all these videos about tall poppy syndrome. There's tall
- 26:01Speaker 1: poppy syndrome that. But is it actually that bad is
- 26:08Speaker 1: my question. Because genuinely, have we experienced it? Yeah. We
- 26:14Speaker 1: lost all our friends because of this podcast. Is that
- 26:16Speaker 1: why we lost all our friends? Or did we just
- 26:18Speaker 1: grow apart? I think it's a combination of both. I
- 26:21Speaker 1: don't think we started the podcast and they just went,
- 26:23Speaker 1: fuck them. I think, yeah, but it's not as simple
- 26:26Speaker 1: as that. It's more like, I think there's a subconscious
- 26:29Speaker 1: thing right there. Like they think, oh, Audie and Jake
- 26:32Speaker 1: think they're too good for us now. Kind of. So
- 26:35Speaker 1: that's how it can show itself.
- 26:36Speaker 2: And we don't think that. yeah at all and i
- 26:39Speaker 2: think that's what it's just like it's it's it's why
- 26:41Speaker 2: i struggle to put it into words this subtle thing
- 26:43Speaker 2: where your friends say they want the best for you
- 26:45Speaker 2: but when the best starts happening for you they're no
- 26:47Speaker 2: longer there yeah how does that make any sense realistically
- 26:51Speaker 2: they would never tell you but they want you to
- 26:52Speaker 2: be doing as badly as they are they want you
- 26:54Speaker 2: to be doing the same as them or worse yeah
- 26:57Speaker 2: 100 and that's also another um we that's another thing
- 26:59Speaker 2: we learned that is a that's another consequence of patriarchy
- 27:03Speaker 2: yeah and i think i don't like like i feel
- 27:05Speaker 2: like Tall poppy syndrome is grouping this complex problem into
- 27:09Speaker 2: like a simple analogy.
- 27:10Speaker 1: And when humans aren't that simple.
- 27:11Speaker 2: And that's when like every single scenario is different. Like
- 27:14Speaker 2: some person might be having a car rental business that's
- 27:17Speaker 2: doing really well. That's his version of tall poppy syndrome.
- 27:20Speaker 2: And then they're saying the same thing with us in
- 27:21Speaker 2: a podcast or whatever.
- 27:23Speaker 1: That's fine. I guess that's fair. We put a question
- 27:27Speaker 1: on Instagram a few days ago asking what topics you
- 27:29Speaker 1: want to see on the pod. Hell yeah. And I've saved...
- 27:33Speaker 1: Let me go onto my photos. I screenshotted a couple.
- 27:35Speaker 1: I saved four of them. Okay. Number one I saved
- 27:39Speaker 1: was people want us to talk about the women's menstrual
- 27:41Speaker 1: cycle phases should be very informative for men and women.
- 27:46Speaker 1: So I actually did a quick search for us and
- 27:49Speaker 1: I looked it up. Okay. Because I know of... I
- 27:52Speaker 1: was going to put you like, yeah. Yeah, I was
- 27:54Speaker 1: going to... I know luteal phase and I know menstruation. Yeah. Menstruation,
- 27:57Speaker 1: which is the bleeding.
- 27:58Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 27:59Speaker 1: So I've got it here for us to learn. Okay, good.
- 28:01Speaker 1: So number one thing I knew was that the cycle,
- 28:05Speaker 1: women go through a 28-day hormone cycle. Here it says
- 28:09Speaker 1: it's 21 to 38. Not every woman is going to
- 28:11Speaker 1: be the same. Usually a period duration is three to
- 28:15Speaker 1: eight days of bleeding. So some women can get three days,
- 28:19Speaker 1: some people can get more, very complex.
- 28:22Speaker 2: You know what we found out the other day, our
- 28:25Speaker 2: friend who just had a baby that She told us
- 28:27Speaker 2: some people don't get their period back for years after
- 28:29Speaker 2: having a baby.
- 28:30Speaker 1: I didn't know that.
- 28:31Speaker 2: Or you can get it like up to like a
- 28:33Speaker 2: month after having a baby.
- 28:34Speaker 1: Isn't that crazy?
- 28:34Speaker 2: I was like, and the difference.
- 28:36Speaker 1: And once you get it back, pretty much means you
- 28:38Speaker 1: can go ahead and have another baby if you want. Yeah.
- 28:40Speaker 2: And it shows how different people's bodies are. Because like
- 28:42Speaker 2: a month compared to some people wait 18 months to
- 28:43Speaker 2: get their period back.
- 28:44Speaker 1: Yes, bro.
- 28:45Speaker 3: All right.
- 28:45Speaker 1: So the four phases. We've got menstruation, one to seven days.
- 28:51Speaker 1: And we've got the cycle begins in the first day
- 28:55Speaker 1: of bleeding. The unfertilized uterine lining sheds through the vagina,
- 29:00Speaker 1: which typically lasts three to seven days. Common symptoms include cramping, fatigue, bloating,
- 29:04Speaker 1: and lower backache.
- 29:06Speaker 3: Yep.
- 29:07Speaker 1: Follicular phase. I've heard the word. I haven't heard that.
- 29:11Speaker 1: I've heard the word from a TikTok. No idea what
- 29:13Speaker 1: it is. Okay. I haven't heard that. It says days
- 29:18Speaker 1: one to 14. Starting on day one and overlapping with menstruation.
- 29:23Speaker 1: The pituitary gland releases follicle-stimulating hormone, FSH, to mature eggs
- 29:30Speaker 1: in the ovaries, rising estrogen levels, causing the uterine lining,
- 29:33Speaker 1: the endometrium, to thicken.
- 29:35Speaker 2: That's very interesting.
- 29:37Speaker 1: Interesting.
- 29:38Speaker 3: Here we go.
- 29:38Speaker 1: I did know this one, actually. Ovulation. Yeah. We all
- 29:41Speaker 1: know ovulation. Yeah, yeah, yeah. That starts at around day...
- 29:44Speaker 1: The way you said that.
- 29:46Speaker 7: What?
- 29:46Speaker 1: Everyone hears of ovulation. I'm ovulating. We all know ovulation.
- 29:53Speaker 1: Around day 14, a surge in... luteinizing hormone, LH, triggers
- 29:58Speaker 1: the release of a mature egg from the ovary into
- 30:02Speaker 1: the fallopian tube. This creates roughly a six-day fertile window
- 30:06Speaker 1: where pregnancy is possible. These are all rough numbers, by
- 30:08Speaker 1: the way. This is all like, there's big ranges here,
- 30:10Speaker 1: I assume. Last one, luteal. Again, I need a luteal phase.
- 30:14Speaker 1: Day 15 to 28, the ruptured follicle becomes the corpus
- 30:19Speaker 1: luteum and produces progesterone to maintain the thickened uterine lining.
- 30:24Speaker 1: If pregnancy does not occur, hormone levels drop, leading to
- 30:27Speaker 1: the start of the next menstrual period.
- 30:30Speaker 3: Bro.
- 30:32Speaker 1: Not going to lie. That was actually very informative. That
- 30:34Speaker 1: was very informative. That was actually informative.
- 30:36Speaker 2: I even just think like women's bodies are amazing.
- 30:38Speaker 1: So here we go, right? Actually, I'm not sure. I
- 30:42Speaker 1: don't think Beth will mind. Beth got her period yesterday.
- 30:45Speaker 3: Okay.
- 30:46Speaker 1: So that means that she's on day, pretty much on
- 30:49Speaker 1: day two of the 28-day cycle. She's on menstruation, but
- 30:52Speaker 1: also her follicular phase has just begun. So I'm going
- 30:55Speaker 1: to keep those things in mind. So what's the date?
- 30:58Speaker 1: In about 14 days, 26th of October, it's ovulation baby.
- 31:04Speaker 1: Do you reckon she would appreciate or be like too
- 31:07Speaker 1: much if you go, oh, for my calculation, you're in
- 31:10Speaker 1: your follicular phase right now. She goes, I just started bleeding.
- 31:14Speaker 1: And I go, ah, that's menstruation and follicular, all right.
- 31:17Speaker 1: And then I go, wait a second, you know what?
- 31:19Speaker 1: In about two weeks time- That'll be ovulation. I'll see
- 31:23Speaker 1: you then. That's terrible. That's terrible. And then so luteal
- 31:29Speaker 1: day 15. Okay. So luteal phase, I believe is the
- 31:34Speaker 1: phase where, because it's actually technically, it's the lead up
- 31:39Speaker 1: to menstruation, which is the bleeding. I believe that that
- 31:44Speaker 1: is the phase where women experience, if they're going to
- 31:47Speaker 1: experience a lot of, I believe the luteal phase is
- 31:53Speaker 1: where that is occurring.
- 31:55Speaker 2: I've always thought too, like such a hard thing to
- 31:58Speaker 2: juggle is baddies.
- 32:00Speaker 1: Let me know.
- 32:01Speaker 2: What's the best, like if you're running a marathon or
- 32:05Speaker 2: doing a sporting event, what's the best phase within your
- 32:08Speaker 2: cycle to like do a race or compete competitively, emotionally
- 32:12Speaker 2: and physically?
- 32:13Speaker 1: Actually, that's a great question. I dare say, I'm going
- 32:17Speaker 1: to assume the ovulation phase. That's at least just from
- 32:22Speaker 1: this short bit of information here, I'm assuming where everything
- 32:25Speaker 1: is at the most consistent level. Yeah. So I would assume.
- 32:30Speaker 1: And like also in the ovulation phase, we all as
- 32:34Speaker 1: men know that that is when women feel their most horny. Yeah.
- 32:37Speaker 1: Because we're all disgusting pigs. And so surely, you know,
- 32:41Speaker 1: you're feeling your best. Like in your ovulation, you're feeling
- 32:43Speaker 1: your prettiest. Feeling good. You know, you're feeling your horniest. Yeah, yeah.
- 32:47Speaker 1: You're probably feeling your best all around. I assume that's
- 32:50Speaker 1: the best time. You could be right. To be doing
- 32:53Speaker 1: like a marathon or training. Logically, that makes sense. As
- 32:59Speaker 1: a man. As a man. Me over here with my
- 33:00Speaker 1: 12-hour cycle. My 12-hour hormone cycle. So that's, hey, baddies,
- 33:08Speaker 1: that's menstruation. We've got the phases down pat.
- 33:11Speaker 2: If you didn't know, now you do.
- 33:16Speaker 1: Next one. date ideas oh okay good ones and bad
- 33:20Speaker 1: ones to avoid let's start with bad ones okay bad
- 33:23Speaker 1: ones drive-thru okay are we going date ideas in terms
- 33:27Speaker 1: of first date yeah let's do bad date ideas for
- 33:30Speaker 1: first date go drive-thrus oh okay obviously.
- 33:35Speaker 2: Um well i think a bad date is anything you
- 33:38Speaker 2: just don't put effort into okay yeah yeah like you
- 33:40Speaker 2: can make any date good if you've shown, you've thought
- 33:43Speaker 2: about it and planned something. It doesn't always work out,
- 33:46Speaker 2: but that's part of the fun.
- 33:46Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah. And being present and thinking like, I'm
- 33:49Speaker 1: going on a date with X, Y, Z or whatever. Yeah.
- 33:51Speaker 2: And she likes, da, da, da, da, da, da. And
- 33:54Speaker 2: you have a couple of things planned.
- 33:55Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 33:56Speaker 2: That's what I think makes up a good date.
- 33:57Speaker 1: Yeah. Was it a bad day for you then? I
- 33:59Speaker 1: want to say, I actually, in my ignorance when I
- 34:06Speaker 1: was younger, have done this before. Don't do anything That
- 34:12Speaker 1: is gonna don't. So this is from a man, right?
- 34:14Speaker 1: And I'm talking to men right now. If don't invite
- 34:16Speaker 1: a woman on a first date somewhere where you guys
- 34:18Speaker 1: are going to be alone, not surrounded by people. You
- 34:24Speaker 1: have to think about how safe she's going to feel.
- 34:27Speaker 1: So like no Bush walks, right. Go in a public place. Right.
- 34:32Speaker 1: And just like, I want to say, focus on her
- 34:34Speaker 1: safety on making her feel safe. Like, Think of places
- 34:38Speaker 1: where it's like she's going to be– because like every woman,
- 34:43Speaker 1: I can tell you right now, every single woman when
- 34:46Speaker 1: asked on a first date, they will be considering their
- 34:49Speaker 1: safety the first thing they think of. I would say
- 34:54Speaker 1: big tip is like don't go anywhere private. Don't do
- 34:58Speaker 1: that type of shit.
- 35:00Speaker 2: Also, a lot of the time too, like a first date,
- 35:02Speaker 2: you might already know that I'm going on a date
- 35:05Speaker 2: with Jake and he's a nice guy.
- 35:06Speaker 1: Yeah. like you've been friends you may know yeah you
- 35:08Speaker 1: may have known each other for a while so it's
- 35:09Speaker 1: like yeah i'm talking like yeah yeah i agree yeah
- 35:13Speaker 1: you know what i mean and i'm not gonna lie
- 35:14Speaker 1: in my ignorance before i just thought like oh yeah
- 35:16Speaker 1: butch walk would be a great first date we walk
- 35:18Speaker 1: and talk yeah yeah yeah and then um i just
- 35:21Speaker 1: remember maybe a couple years ago learning about the fact
- 35:24Speaker 1: that like women think about their safety obviously so so
- 35:26Speaker 1: much because men are historically so violent towards women and
- 35:28Speaker 1: do things like that um i remember thinking yeah one
- 35:32Speaker 1: time i asked a I remember that she came, it
- 35:34Speaker 1: was actually, it was good. We had a good chat,
- 35:35Speaker 1: but like, I remember thinking, dang, she probably thought she
- 35:38Speaker 1: got lucky. You're not a serial killer. Yeah. Like she
- 35:40Speaker 1: probably thought, is this guy going to steal me? Why
- 35:42Speaker 1: is he choosing Bushwalk? I mean, like that's so weird.
- 35:45Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 35:46Speaker 1: Um, so good date ideas. Uh, okay. Good date ideas
- 35:52Speaker 1: to me. You can choose good ones, like go to
- 35:55Speaker 1: a nice fancy restaurant. Like that'd be nice. Put effort
- 35:57Speaker 1: in plan the day.
- 35:58Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 35:58Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 35:59Speaker 1: Um, I always think it's good to have a plan.
- 36:02Speaker 1: I think that's cool.
- 36:02Speaker 2: A plan is the biggest tick.
- 36:03Speaker 1: I like saying, I like a plan. It's like, let
- 36:07Speaker 1: them know the category of attire. I agree. We're going
- 36:13Speaker 1: to a fancy place. Yes.
- 36:15Speaker 2: Sort of show, not authority.
- 36:17Speaker 3: What is it?
- 36:18Speaker 2: Like, don't say anything like, if you want.
- 36:21Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 36:21Speaker 2: Kind of be like, I've got a day plan. This
- 36:23Speaker 2: is the vibe. This is what I'm wearing.
- 36:25Speaker 1: Yeah. This is kind of the vibe. Put a bit
- 36:28Speaker 1: of effort into that shit, I reckon. But again, it's like,
- 36:30Speaker 1: What he was saying, a good date could be anything.
- 36:32Speaker 1: I like a bit of like a three-parter.
- 36:34Speaker 2: So you start with maybe like a nice sunset if
- 36:37Speaker 2: you're a drinker, but I like snacks. And you bring
- 36:39Speaker 2: snacks and a little picnic and maybe.
- 36:41Speaker 1: A little speaker.
- 36:42Speaker 2: You start there and you say dinner reservations at 7.
- 36:44Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 36:45Speaker 2: Go get dinner. And if dinner's good, you then go
- 36:47Speaker 2: to Sweet Treat after and if.
- 36:48Speaker 1: It's not good. You'd leave. Unfortunately, you go, I got
- 36:51Speaker 1: to wrap this up.
- 36:52Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 36:52Speaker 2: And I like having something before the restaurant too, because
- 36:54Speaker 2: it's more personable. And like being in a restaurant, the
- 36:57Speaker 2: loud noises and me getting to know someone wigs me
- 36:59Speaker 2: out a bit. I think it does for both people.
- 37:00Speaker 2: And I feel like I'm not in the conversation as much.
- 37:02Speaker 1: I like an activity before dinner. It's the same. Yeah.
- 37:06Speaker 1: So I like, so let's say you're going to do picnic.
- 37:08Speaker 1: You could bring painting with dinner or something like that.
- 37:11Speaker 1: An activity, a card game to play with someone. Beth
- 37:14Speaker 1: and I's first date, we went, we were going to go,
- 37:17Speaker 1: I actually, I did this terribly. We were going to
- 37:18Speaker 1: go aquarium. And I thought, we'll go aquarium because I've
- 37:21Speaker 1: never been. Just why not? We'll go look at cool animals,
- 37:24Speaker 1: cool fish and stuff. And then it's an activity and
- 37:26Speaker 1: it gives us something to talk about when we go
- 37:28Speaker 1: have dinner. And so it was actually closed. I remember that.
- 37:32Speaker 1: And so then we went to an arcade. Next best
- 37:36Speaker 1: thing in my opinion. Let's be real. We went to
- 37:37Speaker 1: an arcade. And then we went and had dinner. It
- 37:40Speaker 1: really breaks the tension.
- 37:41Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 37:42Speaker 1: In my opinion. I agree. Yeah. I like the three-parter.
- 37:45Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 37:45Speaker 2: And then make the reservation too.
- 37:47Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 37:47Speaker 1: And here's the thing. Like, yeah. Oh, yeah. Make the reservation.
- 37:50Speaker 2: Don't be like, oh, like, oh, we might go to
- 37:51Speaker 2: the pub after.
- 37:52Speaker 1: Yeah. Like, don't just be like, oh, we're going to
- 37:54Speaker 1: try and walk in somewhere. Yeah. Unless you're in an
- 37:56Speaker 1: area where they're just a bunch of places to take walking.
- 37:58Speaker 2: I think also, like, just book it anyway.
- 38:01Speaker 1: I think it's so cool to go up and they go, hi,
- 38:02Speaker 1: how are you? Yeah, it's a reservation for Jake. Yeah.
- 38:05Speaker 1: And they go, then, like, she's thinking, let's go play. Yeah,
- 38:08Speaker 1: a little tip too, like make the reservation something cool
- 38:13Speaker 1: to do with her name, like something you might call her.
- 38:15Speaker 1: Like for you, it'd be Pickle. Oh, that's when you
- 38:17Speaker 1: went dating.
- 38:17Speaker 2: Yeah, but like when you're like tuning or whatever, you
- 38:20Speaker 2: normally come up with a stupid little nickname.
- 38:23Speaker 1: Yeah, let me think. Yeah. That's a good point. I
- 38:27Speaker 1: called her Casimiro before we'd met.
- 38:30Speaker 3: Oh, right.
- 38:31Speaker 2: So I'd be like, I'm booking for Casimiro.
- 38:33Speaker 1: Yeah, okay, fair. I'll go booking for Casimiro and then
- 38:35Speaker 1: she'd laugh. She goes, you're so silly. Yeah. I hope
- 38:37Speaker 1: that helps. I hope that helped. Breakup advice.
- 38:39Speaker 3: Fuck.
- 38:43Speaker 1: Rip the bandaid off. Yeah. Do it in person. Yeah.
- 38:46Speaker 1: That's my only advice. Don't do it over text. Don't
- 38:48Speaker 1: do it over text. Breakup advice. I would say, let
- 38:55Speaker 1: yourself feel the feelings.
- 38:57Speaker 3: Yes.
- 38:58Speaker 1: Distract yourself, of course. Distract yourself. Hang out with friends more.
- 39:01Speaker 1: Go do these things. Distract yourself. Keep yourself busy. If
- 39:03Speaker 1: you want to go to the gym, this, that.
- 39:05Speaker 2: Oh, like actual, like getting over a breakup?
- 39:07Speaker 1: Yeah. Okay. As in like once you've broken up. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 39:10Speaker 1: But at the same time, feel the feelings. They're there
- 39:13Speaker 1: for a reason. You know, you're allowed to feel something.
- 39:16Speaker 1: That's the whole point of being a human. Don't try
- 39:18Speaker 1: and just like completely avoid it. Don't heart a man.
- 39:21Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 39:21Speaker 1: If you're going to cry, cry. Feel that feeling. Talk
- 39:24Speaker 1: about it with your friends. I'm feeling this at the moment.
- 39:27Speaker 1: I'm feeling like at this stage. The other day, I
- 39:28Speaker 1: was angry. you know feel like talking about it and
- 39:32Speaker 1: letting it out is gonna be the best way to
- 39:35Speaker 1: release the emotion well completely I would say I wish
- 39:39Speaker 1: I talked about my the one breakup that really did
- 39:42Speaker 1: hurt me I wish I spoke about it more it
- 39:44Speaker 1: feels like such a burden to talk about your problems
- 39:47Speaker 1: to other people when you're young yeah And like I
- 39:49Speaker 1: remember going through a breakup and just it consumed me.
- 39:54Speaker 2: But I didn't let anyone know that it consumed me.
- 39:56Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 39:57Speaker 2: Which is the hard thing.
- 39:58Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 40:00Speaker 1: That's a good point. You just try to act like
- 40:01Speaker 1: you're fine. Yeah. You just really try to act like
- 40:03Speaker 1: you're fine. And sometimes you don't always want to bring
- 40:05Speaker 1: it up because it is like nice. Your friends do
- 40:06Speaker 1: help you forget for a bit. Yeah.
- 40:08Speaker 2: That was the best thing about like our friendship group.
- 40:10Speaker 1: It's a bit of escapism. Yeah.
- 40:12Speaker 2: Like from six o'clock till when you go out and
- 40:15Speaker 2: we used to drink. Like that time I wasn't thinking
- 40:17Speaker 2: about my ex ever. it's a great feeling it is
- 40:20Speaker 2: a good it's almost addictive too which maybe isn't good
- 40:23Speaker 2: sometimes it's good yeah it'd be good.
- 40:25Speaker 1: To do a healthy habit like i don't know yeah
- 40:27Speaker 1: go for a walk 100 no i think so um
- 40:29Speaker 1: last one i chose was someone said thoughts on the
- 40:31Speaker 1: cornell seven and how men can be more active in
- 40:34Speaker 1: calling out problematic men um i assume you've seen i've
- 40:38Speaker 1: seen a bunch of the cornell seven yeah what does
- 40:40Speaker 1: she mean by the second part of that she said
- 40:42Speaker 1: what are your thoughts on How men can be more
- 40:45Speaker 1: active in calling out problematic men. Right, yeah, yeah. So
- 40:49Speaker 1: first off, thoughts on Cornell 7. Fucked. Bro, it's like... Disgusting.
- 40:54Speaker 1: It's obviously so, so terrible. And we actually... We haven't
- 41:00Speaker 1: spoken about it publicly on the podcast at all. And
- 41:07Speaker 1: it's so... I think the way I feel about it
- 41:12Speaker 1: and what... it makes you angry. And I think what
- 41:16Speaker 1: is sucks is like how, when you think about it,
- 41:20Speaker 1: so it's like, it makes me angry.
- 41:21Speaker 7: Right.
- 41:21Speaker 1: But it's thinking about how women feel because they got like,
- 41:26Speaker 1: their punishment was like writing a fucking essay, bro.
- 41:29Speaker 2: Like it almost makes.
- 41:32Speaker 1: You feel helpless. It, it would, it makes me feel
- 41:36Speaker 1: annoyed that women are like, Oh my God. Like clearly
- 41:40Speaker 1: they just give such a zero fucks about us. that
- 41:43Speaker 1: their punishment is an essay just explaining what they did
- 41:46Speaker 1: was bad, and then they're just chill.
- 41:50Speaker 2: Yeah, and even more, like, obviously the seven people who
- 41:53Speaker 2: did it, terrible.
- 41:55Speaker 1: Then there's 52. I think it was like 57 or something.
- 41:58Speaker 2: 57 who obviously didn't say a single word.
- 42:02Speaker 1: Do you think that's normal? Yeah.
- 42:05Speaker 2: That's a massive problem in itself where, like, put that
- 42:08Speaker 2: on a broader scale.
- 42:09Speaker 1: I know.
- 42:10Speaker 2: Like all the things going on in the world and
- 42:11Speaker 2: like all these comments and you're seeing an insight into
- 42:14Speaker 2: men's friendship groups and how men view women.
- 42:17Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 42:17Speaker 2: And they probably didn't have a second thought that there
- 42:19Speaker 2: was something terrible going on right there. And that makes
- 42:22Speaker 2: me angry and scared. I'm coming from a fucking man
- 42:25Speaker 2: and I feel terrible too.
- 42:26Speaker 1: I know. Yeah. And it's like, you know, putting in
- 42:29Speaker 1: the group chat, like free pussy at whatever the fraternity
- 42:32Speaker 1: is called. Oh, I don't know how people like that exist.
- 42:37Speaker 1: And so here's something that's been bothering me as well
- 42:40Speaker 1: is that people go, oh, there's more info coming out.
- 42:43Speaker 1: There's more info coming about, about. So Jane Doe is
- 42:45Speaker 1: what they're calling the woman, right? There's more info. There's
- 42:48Speaker 1: more info. And it's like, oh, she has text messages.
- 42:54Speaker 1: It was all consensual. People saying it was all consensual, right?
- 42:57Speaker 1: And it's like, so to my knowledge at the moment,
- 43:02Speaker 1: it was consensual with two of the men. Right. That's
- 43:06Speaker 1: to my knowledge. I please like articles in the comments or,
- 43:10Speaker 1: or correct us if we're correct me if I'm wrong. Um,
- 43:13Speaker 1: but so people are coming out and saying like, you know,
- 43:17Speaker 1: she gave consent to this, but like when you just
- 43:20Speaker 1: talk about how she went back to a fraternity house,
- 43:25Speaker 1: blind drunk gets given ketamine, right. Her choice to take
- 43:30Speaker 1: the ketamine of maybe, maybe, you know she chooses to
- 43:34Speaker 1: take drugs right she's like passed out in what world
- 43:40Speaker 1: do you think that even asking a woman to have
- 43:42Speaker 1: sex is appropriate let alone if she says yes or
- 43:45Speaker 1: not you know and then it's like you mean for
- 43:50Speaker 1: hours seven different men went in there and had sex
- 43:53Speaker 1: with her and everyone's like oh but it was consensual
- 43:57Speaker 1: and they're like oh what was she doing there i
- 44:00Speaker 1: don't know She thought she was going to have a
- 44:01Speaker 1: good time. And then she took drugs and fucking passed
- 44:03Speaker 1: out and got raped by seven men.
- 44:05Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 44:06Speaker 1: You know, it's a very, we live in a world
- 44:09Speaker 1: that's like very just broken in that sense.
- 44:17Speaker 2: When to answer her question too, she said, how can
- 44:21Speaker 2: men talk about it?
- 44:23Speaker 1: How can men be more active in calling out problematic? Yeah.
- 44:26Speaker 2: So the one thing, so when we had Luke Bateman
- 44:28Speaker 2: on the pod too, he didn't, he couldn't answer it.
- 44:30Speaker 2: It's like, Yes, 100% men need to talk about it
- 44:34Speaker 2: more and call out their friends. But there's still an
- 44:36Speaker 2: issue with like.
- 44:39Speaker 2: We talked about at the start with men not listening
- 44:41Speaker 2: to our podcast. If there's no sort of mindset shift
- 44:44Speaker 2: or there's no willingness to change.
- 44:45Speaker 1: You're talking on deaf ears.
- 44:47Speaker 2: Yeah, it's like we want to do our part as
- 44:50Speaker 2: much as we can, but we're talking to 95% women demo.
- 44:53Speaker 1: Yeah, so then we become in two minds of like...
- 44:56Speaker 1: why are we just talking to people that know exactly
- 44:58Speaker 1: what we're talking about but then again you know there's maybe.
- 45:00Speaker 2: Five and obviously i think it's still you have to
- 45:02Speaker 2: do it 100 and that's the right thing to do
- 45:04Speaker 2: but then like for us to realize like how can
- 45:07Speaker 2: we make a difference and help change those statistics just
- 45:11Speaker 2: a little bit but like you said the deaf ears
- 45:13Speaker 2: aren't listening so you can't fucking help.
- 45:14Speaker 1: Them yeah it's a good point i think that And.
- 45:17Speaker 2: I can't wrap my head around how I would love
- 45:18Speaker 2: to come with strategies, how you could help.
- 45:20Speaker 1: Him in talking to schools. I think it's something to
- 45:22Speaker 1: think about, obviously. And then there's probably people we can
- 45:25Speaker 1: talk to about it, which would be really cool. Like
- 45:27Speaker 1: that Tarung guy on Instagram, we've actually had contact with him.
- 45:30Speaker 1: We just need to be in Melbourne if we want
- 45:32Speaker 1: to speak to him. But so I think calling people out,
- 45:37Speaker 1: not being afraid to lose friends. It's got to be peer-to-peer,
- 45:41Speaker 1: one thing. Another thing I think is just actually communicating
- 45:45Speaker 1: talking about it so like let's just say you and
- 45:48Speaker 1: i don't have this podcast and we still hang out
- 45:51Speaker 1: with our big wider group of friends i think that
- 45:53Speaker 1: if you're a man that's just um you know has
- 45:57Speaker 1: a big group of guy friends and none of you
- 46:01Speaker 1: have spoken about let's say this cornell seven situation in
- 46:04Speaker 1: particular i think just actually talking about it right and
- 46:09Speaker 1: all it takes is one of you to just bring
- 46:11Speaker 1: up the conversation and be like have you heard of
- 46:13Speaker 1: the cornell seven everyone's going to say Yeah, I've seen that.
- 46:16Speaker 1: Because like, how can you miss it, really? How can
- 46:18Speaker 1: you miss it? And then it's like, you just have
- 46:20Speaker 1: to be, I guess, brave enough for if someone goes, yeah,
- 46:23Speaker 1: I'm sick of fucking hearing about it, blah, blah, blah.
- 46:26Speaker 1: You just have to be brave enough to be like, no,
- 46:27Speaker 1: I think this is so fucked up. Like, what do
- 46:28Speaker 1: you guys actually think? And if your friends think it's like,
- 46:32Speaker 1: not bad, then you're... it's like you got to just
- 46:35Speaker 1: call them out and maybe they're going to shun you
- 46:37Speaker 1: from the group, but you have done the right thing.
- 46:39Speaker 1: And hopefully maybe at least one of your friends in
- 46:41Speaker 1: that group that didn't stick up for you when you
- 46:44Speaker 1: were getting maybe bullied for trying to say that it's
- 46:46Speaker 1: a bad thing. Hopefully they then also eventually they're like,
- 46:51Speaker 1: I wish I stuck up for him, but I didn't.
- 46:52Speaker 1: And they're still scared, but then hopefully they become brave
- 46:54Speaker 1: enough to then say something.
- 46:55Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 46:56Speaker 2: And I guess to use the word brave and it
- 46:58Speaker 2: feels like it's a brave thing to do to talk
- 47:01Speaker 2: up to your friends, but it should be normal.
- 47:03Speaker 1: I know. And, A big thing I've noticed is it's
- 47:06Speaker 1: like men find it hard to talk about how men
- 47:14Speaker 1: are so violent towards women, how men always rape women,
- 47:17Speaker 1: all this type of thing, right? Men find it so
- 47:19Speaker 1: hard to talk about. But when you really think about it,
- 47:21Speaker 1: it's not hard to talk about. Like just saying in
- 47:25Speaker 1: your group of friends like, oh, how bad is it
- 47:28Speaker 1: that 99% of rape and murder is committed by men?
- 47:32Speaker 3: Right?
- 47:33Speaker 1: Just, just talking about it is actually not a hard
- 47:35Speaker 1: thing to do because you're just saying words, but then
- 47:38Speaker 1: reflecting on it is what men find difficult. Actually reflecting.
- 47:42Speaker 2: The whole thing with men is they're always right. And
- 47:46Speaker 2: they can't have those conversations and admit that they've done
- 47:49Speaker 2: something wrong or something like that. It's that egotistical mindset.
- 47:52Speaker 1: I think it's the zero sum way of thinking. I
- 47:54Speaker 1: think that's what it is. It's like, because they all
- 47:56Speaker 1: get defensive. What about men? Or it's not, it's not
- 47:58Speaker 1: all men. It's not, it's, Or what about how fucking
- 48:02Speaker 1: men are affected? What about how men kill themselves? I
- 48:04Speaker 1: think it's that zero-sum way of thinking. And then again,
- 48:07Speaker 1: if you have learned about zero-sum thinking, you can then say, oh, look, no.
- 48:11Speaker 1: Two problems can exist at the same time, guys. Right?
- 48:14Speaker 1: Men can be terrible to women, but men can also
- 48:18Speaker 1: be killing themselves. Those things can happen at the same time,
- 48:20Speaker 1: but I'm just not talking about the men killing themselves
- 48:22Speaker 1: right now. That's terrible. But I'm talking about something different.
- 48:25Speaker 2: That's the best way to put it right there.
- 48:26Speaker 1: Yeah. So it's like if you're scared to bring something up, then...
- 48:30Speaker 1: You just have to, you know, if you really care, just,
- 48:35Speaker 1: I guess, just care. Like, I wish we learned more
- 48:42Speaker 1: when we were younger. You know what I'm saying? Because
- 48:45Speaker 1: I just think back to times where I could have
- 48:48Speaker 1: spoken up at certain things. I think back to times
- 48:50Speaker 1: where I myself was misogynistic.
- 48:53Speaker 2: I wish we learned younger too, but also like, it's
- 48:56Speaker 2: not an excuse, but you need, life experience to understand
- 48:59Speaker 2: the issues.
- 49:00Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah.
- 49:00Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 49:01Speaker 1: Yeah. I just, you know, I wish I could go back.
- 49:03Speaker 2: Part of the problem is those, the people who, the
- 49:05Speaker 2: men who aren't listening, those deaf ears aren't mature.
- 49:08Speaker 1: And then here's my other thing, right? Is that's why
- 49:09Speaker 1: they don't listen. That's so true. There's always going to
- 49:13Speaker 1: be men that, unfortunately, there is always going to be
- 49:16Speaker 1: men that rape and murder women.
- 49:18Speaker 3: Right.
- 49:19Speaker 1: And so, the only thing with that that I and
- 49:22Speaker 1: like there's some people that you will just not change
- 49:24Speaker 1: their minds they will not hear you and um with
- 49:28Speaker 1: that it's like what needs to happen there is the
- 49:31Speaker 1: governments in my personal opinion do a terrible job at
- 49:35Speaker 1: this the um the penalty for that needs to be much,
- 49:43Speaker 1: much worse. You know what I mean? That's the issue.
- 49:47Speaker 2: I like the parole thing.
- 49:49Speaker 1: Yeah. Like the whole, like I was talking to my
- 49:52Speaker 1: mom in Canada and she said like, Oh, it just
- 49:55Speaker 1: is a well-known thing here that like men in Australia
- 49:57Speaker 1: just beat their wives. She goes, people here would just
- 50:00Speaker 1: be like, yeah, that's a thing we've heard from, from
- 50:02Speaker 1: when we were young.
- 50:03Speaker 3: Right.
- 50:03Speaker 1: And cause it's really bad in Australia. And so she's
- 50:06Speaker 1: talking about it and we go, yeah, we listened to
- 50:07Speaker 1: this podcast once. I've talked about it on here. Like
- 50:10Speaker 1: Abby Chatfield had this guy, Dr. Vincent Hurley on. And
- 50:12Speaker 1: he said something that would bring the numbers down is
- 50:15Speaker 1: if men were not let out on parole for harming
- 50:18Speaker 1: a woman. Because they get let out on parole and
- 50:21Speaker 1: quite often then go murder a woman. And it makes
- 50:23Speaker 1: so much sense, right? And then Abby Chatfield goes, oh,
- 50:27Speaker 1: that makes so much sense. Why isn't that the case?
- 50:28Speaker 1: And he goes- Because there isn't enough prisons. I've heard
- 50:31Speaker 1: that before. And so then we said that to mom.
- 50:33Speaker 1: Build them in the middle of Australia. So we said
- 50:35Speaker 1: that to my mom. Where it's hot and sucks. My
- 50:37Speaker 1: mom goes, oh, you guys just say that in such
- 50:39Speaker 1: a matter of fact way. Like, does that not make
- 50:41Speaker 1: you angry? And Beth and I kind of thought, yeah,
- 50:43Speaker 1: we've just like said that as if we've accepted that
- 50:45Speaker 1: that's just why. Why aren't, why isn't the government building
- 50:50Speaker 1: more prisons?
- 50:50Speaker 2: We're already in a trillion dollars of debt. Go build
- 50:52Speaker 2: a jail and get another million dollars.
- 50:53Speaker 1: I prefer my threat to be my, my, I would
- 50:55Speaker 1: prefer like our debt to be going towards building prisons
- 50:58Speaker 1: so that the sentencing for violence against women can actually
- 51:01Speaker 1: be proper sentencing and make it. So there's more incentive
- 51:05Speaker 1: to not do it, which is insane to say, but
- 51:07Speaker 1: at the same time, it's like, yeah, I don't know.
- 51:11Speaker 1: That's so I could look a bit of a rant,
- 51:13Speaker 1: but that's, I guess that's where I am. Right? No,
- 51:14Speaker 1: that's good.
- 51:15Speaker 2: And there's, I can finish it on one thing. Oh,
- 51:17Speaker 2: I don't know how to do it.
- 51:19Speaker 6: Is like the first sort of gateway to all these
- 51:24Speaker 6: issues is what men consume online.
- 51:27Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 51:28Speaker 2: And it's a lot of the time actually men on
- 51:30Speaker 2: podcasts and they say some misogynistic things and it gets
- 51:34Speaker 2: a lot of clicks or whatever. And I don't know
- 51:35Speaker 2: how to do it. And I don't want to, I
- 51:36Speaker 2: don't like putting ourselves on a pedestal and calling out
- 51:39Speaker 2: other men and saying we're better than them, but I'd
- 51:41Speaker 2: like to somehow figure out a strategy where like, break
- 51:44Speaker 2: it down sort of like how you did just then
- 51:45Speaker 2: or articulate how Luke Bateman does and you go this
- 51:48Speaker 2: is wrong for this this and this this is the
- 51:50Speaker 2: effects of what you're saying da da da da da
- 51:52Speaker 2: and like duet a video or whatever I've actually thought
- 51:55Speaker 2: about because I see I see something they.
- 51:57Speaker 1: Infuriate me oh yeah and.
- 52:00Speaker 2: These guys are like fucking 30 to 40 year old
- 52:02Speaker 2: men with kids and wives and they're talking about like
- 52:04Speaker 2: how they view women and then like impressionable 18 year
- 52:07Speaker 2: old men are saying this and being.
- 52:08Speaker 6: Like he watches the footy I really like him that
- 52:10Speaker 6: guy's successful yeah I've thought about is there a video
- 52:14Speaker 6: that maybe you make it, maybe I make it, maybe
- 52:17Speaker 6: Luke Bain makes it, maybe we need to get a
- 52:19Speaker 6: bunch of men to make it.
- 52:20Speaker 1: But I've always thought of this video in the last
- 52:23Speaker 1: couple of weeks, I've thought that I want to post
- 52:25Speaker 1: a video where you started off with like somehow get
- 52:29Speaker 1: through to people where it's like, okay, so this video
- 52:31Speaker 1: is for men and this video is for, I want
- 52:35Speaker 1: this video to be shared to men that have just
- 52:37Speaker 1: said like, not all men or just that have just
- 52:39Speaker 1: said like, I don't care about this because it doesn't
- 52:41Speaker 1: affect me type of thing. It's like, I want this
- 52:43Speaker 1: video to just live around here forever. And just, I
- 52:45Speaker 1: want people to save it. And I want, I just
- 52:47Speaker 1: want you to send it to someone who you think
- 52:50Speaker 1: needs to hear it. True. Right. And then you just
- 52:52Speaker 1: go through and you explain like, Oh, saying not all
- 52:55Speaker 1: men is stupid for this reason. Like just explain it. Like,
- 52:57Speaker 1: don't say you're a dumb, like you're a terrible human.
- 53:00Speaker 1: Just like explain it. Like, this is why it's bad.
- 53:02Speaker 1: And so we need to figure out a way how
- 53:03Speaker 1: to play the social media game where it gets the
- 53:07Speaker 1: reach it deserves. Yeah. Yeah. Like, you know, just, Bashing
- 53:12Speaker 1: men clearly isn't going to work because of how defensive
- 53:16Speaker 1: we are. Thanks for the topics, Baddies.
- 53:23Speaker 2: Yeah, thank you very much. But it's time for one
- 53:25Speaker 2: of you to sign off the episode. If you want
- 53:26Speaker 2: to get called by Jake or myself, the link will
- 53:28Speaker 2: be in the description. Jake, today, who are we going
- 53:31Speaker 2: to call?
- 53:32Speaker 1: Tim?
- 53:33Speaker 3: Hello.
- 53:33Speaker 1: Is this Tim?
- 53:36Speaker 3: Yes, you're speaking to Tim.
- 53:38Speaker 1: Tim, it's Jake and Adi from the Relatables podcast. How
- 53:40Speaker 1: are you?
- 53:43Speaker 3: Oh, my God.
- 53:44Speaker 1: Yes. Sorry. You probably thought it was a scam call,
- 53:47Speaker 1: didn't you? You sounded so suspicious, Tim. You were like,
- 53:52Speaker 1: this is Tim speaking. Anyway, Tim, we wanted to ask you,
- 53:59Speaker 1: did Odi say a couple of weeks ago to you
- 54:01Speaker 1: that he was going to call you back?
- 54:03Speaker 3: A couple of weeks ago. About a month ago, I think.
- 54:05Speaker 1: Yes.
- 54:06Speaker 2: But we did say you were driving to uni and
- 54:09Speaker 2: you told us, that you had some notes but you
- 54:11Speaker 2: couldn't get to them and you just signed it off quickly.
- 54:13Speaker 1: Was that correct?
- 54:15Speaker 3: I believe so, yes.
- 54:16Speaker 1: We've called the right person. Do you have access to
- 54:19Speaker 1: your notes?
- 54:21Speaker 3: I do have access to my notes.
- 54:23Speaker 1: Hey, let's go. Tim, would you like to sign off
- 54:24Speaker 1: the episode?
- 54:25Speaker 7: Fuckin' hell if I do, man.
- 54:32Speaker 1: Tim, we've called two men for the past two weeks.
- 54:35Speaker 1: Any chance you're over 6'5? Yeah.
- 54:38Speaker 3: I am not over 6'5, unfortunately.
- 54:41Speaker 1: Because last week we spoke to Brady and he's got
- 54:43Speaker 1: a very deep voice. And we've said, oh, and your
- 54:45Speaker 1: voice is deeper than Brady's.
- 54:47Speaker 2: Yeah, we thought you could be massive.
- 54:50Speaker 3: Nah, mate.
- 54:52Speaker 7: Asian parents will let me down on that part.
- 54:55Speaker 1: At least you got the deep voice. Bro, it's deep.
- 54:58Speaker 1: I'm not going to lie. Anyway, okay. What do you
- 55:04Speaker 1: got for us? What do you got for us?
- 55:07Speaker 3: I believe it was the riddles that you guys were
- 55:09Speaker 3: looking for.
- 55:10Speaker 1: I love a riddle.
- 55:11Speaker 3: I've got two very simple ones, but I think it'll
- 55:15Speaker 3: be worth it. Okay.
- 55:16Speaker 7: So the first one is, if 11 plus 2 equals 1,
- 55:19Speaker 7: what does 9 plus 5 equal? If 11 plus 2
- 55:20Speaker 7: equals 1, what does 9 plus 5 equal?
- 55:22Speaker 3: If 11 plus 2... You said easy.
- 55:24Speaker 1: Equals 1, which is 11... 9 plus 5 equals 2? Yeah,
- 55:41Speaker 1: is it 2?
- 55:42Speaker 5: Is it 2?
- 55:42Speaker 1: Or 3?
- 55:43Speaker 3: It's 2, yeah. Based on the clock.
- 55:45Speaker 2: Let me just say something.
- 55:47Speaker 1: That was a guess.
- 55:50Speaker 3: Wait, what?
- 55:51Speaker 1: I just guessed 2, but why is it 2?
- 55:54Speaker 7: It's 2 because it's based on the clock.
- 56:00Speaker 1: Oh! Not going to lie, I didn't think clock. I
- 56:03Speaker 1: just was like... I didn't clock that.
- 56:04Speaker 3: Yeah, I didn't... Bro, that's a generational guess.
- 56:09Speaker 1: That is a generational guess. Let's be fair. Okay, do
- 56:11Speaker 1: you have another one?
- 56:14Speaker 7: If tomorrow was Saturday, yesterday was what?
- 56:17Speaker 1: If tomorrow was Saturday, yesterday was.
- 56:21Speaker 3: Thursday.
- 56:22Speaker 1: What?
- 56:27Speaker 3: Yeah, you're too smart, bro.
- 56:29Speaker 1: What are you talking about? That was a guess. Why?
- 56:33Speaker 1: Because it made sense if you listened to it.
- 56:36Speaker 7: Oh, okay.
- 56:36Speaker 1: You were just guessing. That was another generation of guessing.
- 56:38Speaker 3: No, I didn't get it.
- 56:39Speaker 1: Okay. I didn't get it. Dang, Tim, mate. Tell you what.
- 56:43Speaker 1: Get some more riddles and if someone doesn't pick up,
- 56:45Speaker 1: we'll call you. We'll call you for a riddle. Save
- 56:47Speaker 1: this number.
- 56:48Speaker 7: Save the podcast now, guys.
- 56:51Speaker 1: Let's go. Third host. All right. Thanks, Tim.
- 56:54Speaker 3: All right, you guys. Have a good one.
- 56:56Speaker 1: You too, mate.
- 56:57Speaker 3: Dang. Dang.
- 56:59Speaker 1: You guessed that second one. No, it made sense. So
- 57:01Speaker 1: he said if tomorrow was Saturday. Yeah. I forgot. I
- 57:05Speaker 1: forgot what it was. That's when you asked me to repeat.
- 57:07Speaker 1: I forgot what the riddle was. That's why I didn't
- 57:08Speaker 1: say anything. Anyway. We love you baddies. Stay bad.
