- 0:00SPEAKER_00: This address was given in 1966 at the Montreal Conference by Eric Smith, a brother who faithfully served the Lord nearly most of more than his ninety years.
- 0:11SPEAKER_00: His service unto the Lord spanned back to the regions of Bolivia in South America from roughly the 1920s to the 1940s, where he gives examples of these principles of the divine gathering unto the Lord's name.
- 0:25SPEAKER_00: Here now is Eric Smith recalling one account of five assemblies out of the many assemblies he served for the Lord.
- 0:32SPEAKER_01: I remember when we had certain problems with a group of believers in Bolivia.
- 0:40SPEAKER_01: There were five meetings that were drawn aside.
- 0:45SPEAKER_01: Those who were in charge of those meetings were not assured of the truth of separation.
- 0:54SPEAKER_01: And for a while, a long time I never could go back to those meetings in spite of the fact that they were my spiritual children, because of the worldliness there and their adoption of things that are characteristic beloved are of sectarian principle and practice.
- 1:14SPEAKER_01: And with a sad heart, I did not return to those meetings.
- 1:20SPEAKER_01: At the end of the fifth year, I got a letter from them, signed by nine of the principal brothers, saying, Brother Smith, there's something wrong in the testimony.
- 1:34SPEAKER_01: Won't you come?
- 1:35SPEAKER_01: That was a long journey of four days on Muleback, and it was the rainy season dangerous, those rivers are exceedingly dangerous, and by when it took me four days to get there.
- 1:48SPEAKER_01: And when I got there, they were still waiting.
- 1:54SPEAKER_01: Waiting.
- 1:55SPEAKER_01: I got there about five o'clock in the afternoon.
- 1:59SPEAKER_01: Had slept under the stars, didn't feel well at all, in fact came down with pneumonia after that, but there they were.
- 2:09SPEAKER_01: And we talked over with the Word of God concerning discipline.
- 2:14SPEAKER_01: Discipline until half past two in the morning.
- 2:19SPEAKER_01: And it was Lord's Day morning.
- 2:21SPEAKER_01: They swore it, they saw the truth of it, Melon.
- 2:25SPEAKER_01: They understood that they had taken a false step, that they were guilty of leading many of these young lives into loose principles which were not honoring to the Lord Jesus Christ.
- 2:40SPEAKER_01: And they felt it, but they were restored in soul.
- 2:45SPEAKER_01: And they said, Brother Smith, this is Lord's demanding.
- 2:49SPEAKER_01: We must remember to break bread today.
- 2:51SPEAKER_01: And I said, No, brethren, no.
- 2:54SPEAKER_01: But they said, Why, we're happily restored, we're all ready.
- 2:59SPEAKER_01: I said, Would you like to communicate to all those other meetings the decision you took?
- 3:04SPEAKER_01: The decision you've taken?
- 3:07SPEAKER_01: And they did.
- 3:09SPEAKER_01: They communicated the decision they they took that night to all the other meetings.
- 3:16SPEAKER_01: You'd be happy to know that they tonight are laboring brethren in the list.
- 3:23SPEAKER_01: Some of them.
- 3:24SPEAKER_01: Leno Bueno, Philemon Garnica, Penis, Angul, Domingo Choke, Cesar Chira, these brothers who labor in word and doctrine.
- 3:37SPEAKER_01: These are those who were happily restored, and they felt the Father's intervention there, in not only in chastisement, but in clipping off these things that spoiled that fellowship with his heart of love.
- 3:55SPEAKER_01: They were prepared by the Father, love, for the work.
- 4:00SPEAKER_01: These men are faithful servants of Christ tonight.
- 4:06SPEAKER_01: Pray for them, beloved, that they may continue to be a blessing to their dear fellow Christians.org.
