- 0:09Speaker 1: Inside. The Birds is back. What's going on? Everybody is
- 0:15Speaker 1: Jeff Moser, Adam Kaplan. We've been talking about NFL free agency,
- 0:19Speaker 1: and now officially we are getting so close to the
- 0:23Speaker 1: point where we can say it starts next week. The
- 0:26Speaker 1: combine has come and gone. You know, everybody is for
- 0:30Speaker 1: NFL teams and decision makers. Adam, they were out there,
- 0:32Speaker 1: they were doing their thing, meeting with agents, meeting with teams.
- 0:35Speaker 1: All those great restaurants and watering holes are filled up.
- 0:38Speaker 1: So we're gonna continue our look that we've been doing
- 0:41Speaker 1: by position at free agency. We're gonna go with offensive
- 0:45Speaker 1: linemen in this one. We've already done every other position
- 0:47Speaker 1: on offense. We'll finish it out throughout the week on defense.
- 0:50Speaker 1: Let everybody know, not only the Eagles obviously through NFL,
- 0:54Speaker 1: what free agency is like. But Adam, here's why I
- 0:57Speaker 1: called this week pre free agency week, because when everybody
- 1:02Speaker 1: gets back from the combine. When I say everybody, I
- 1:04Speaker 1: mean the gms and decision makers after a week's worth
- 1:07Speaker 1: of trying to figure things out internally talking with agents,
- 1:10Speaker 1: what you see a lot during this week is you'll
- 1:13Speaker 1: see extensions for in house guys done. Now that GMS
- 1:16Speaker 1: have a better idea of what the market might look like.
- 1:19Speaker 1: You'll see some trades, all right. We actually saw a
- 1:22Speaker 1: trade happen during the combine, an interesting one. So I
- 1:25Speaker 1: call it the pre pre free agency, and I'm sort
- 1:28Speaker 1: of interested to see what goes on, especially knowing that
- 1:30Speaker 1: the Eagles they got four in house free agents that
- 1:33Speaker 1: we've been talking about for weeks now. I mean for
- 1:35Speaker 1: major I should say it's for starters. They have a
- 1:38Speaker 1: lot of in house free agents. Yeah, they do.
- 1:39Speaker 2: And so with the third two clubs, what's also happening.
- 1:42Speaker 2: Eagles aren't going through this, but there are a bunch
- 1:45Speaker 2: of players that have been told, hey, if we can't trade,
- 1:47Speaker 2: you're going to release you, right, So they let the agent, hey, listen,
- 1:51Speaker 2: we'll let you help find your client a better home
- 1:53Speaker 2: because it's not going to be here, so if you
- 1:56Speaker 2: want to help us, great, And then what will happen
- 1:58Speaker 2: is the agent will call around and sometimes they don't
- 2:01Speaker 2: tell They just say we're going to release your your
- 2:04Speaker 2: player at the start of the league year if it's
- 2:06Speaker 2: for cap purposes, if it helps them. Sometimes you have
- 2:09Speaker 2: to do it to get the cap relieve right, then
- 2:11Speaker 2: the club, the agent wolf already because he knew that.
- 2:13Speaker 2: He might have known already that the players situation was tenuous.
- 2:16Speaker 2: You might have been calling the teams anyway.
- 2:18Speaker 1: M hm.
- 2:19Speaker 2: He just can't get caught for tampering that it doesn't
- 2:21Speaker 2: matter bugs can but anyway, So yeah, it's yeah, it's
- 2:26Speaker 2: done mostly for cash purposes where they don't think the
- 2:29Speaker 2: player's worth it. There are some small situations where it's
- 2:33Speaker 2: it's a cap situation where they're super tight. Maybe they're
- 2:37Speaker 2: not getting cooperation from some some of the veteran players
- 2:39Speaker 2: to restructure where they kind of knew when they restructured
- 2:42Speaker 2: the last time that the cap number is gonna be
- 2:43Speaker 2: too high. Oops, the player is not as good. We
- 2:45Speaker 2: don't want to carry them anywhere. That's the thing that
- 2:47Speaker 2: fans don't seem to understand sometimes and they think it's cap.
- 2:50Speaker 2: Sometimes it's mixed, it's cap and cash. It's always cash cash,
- 2:56Speaker 2: and then sometimes it's it's a mixture of cap because
- 2:59Speaker 2: they're if you keep restructuring, and the Eagles have done
- 3:02Speaker 2: so well other than they all show Jeffrey extension restructure
- 3:05Speaker 2: of making the right bets on restructures because you keep
- 3:09Speaker 2: kicking the can down the line, getting those voidable years
- 3:11Speaker 2: slash dummy years, and if the guy retires, you got
- 3:15Speaker 2: to cut him. The acceleration crushes your cat. Like Eagles
- 3:18Speaker 2: have done such a good job of making the smart bets,
- 3:20Speaker 2: but some teams have not.
- 3:22Speaker 1: Right. I like how you put that, Because you take
- 3:24Speaker 1: a guy like we already spoke about in the quarterback
- 3:26Speaker 1: part of free agency, Kirk Cousins, they're not gonna pay
- 3:30Speaker 1: him that kind of cash to be a backup or
- 3:32Speaker 1: they and they also don't want that. They want cap relief.
- 3:35Speaker 1: So they've told him on as you said, the whatever
- 3:38Speaker 1: if day of the new league year, you're going to
- 3:40Speaker 1: be released so that they'll not have to be in
- 3:41Speaker 1: bed and that will make him a free agent. But
- 3:44Speaker 1: in a case of say like Javon Hargrave, who is
- 3:46Speaker 1: with the Vikings, it sounds like they're going to release
- 3:50Speaker 1: them unless unless they can find a deal. But you know,
- 3:54Speaker 1: those are those are difficult. I know there have been
- 3:56Speaker 1: some cases where a team is pretty much put it
- 3:58Speaker 1: out there, they're gonna rea guy. They don't put the
- 4:01Speaker 1: paperwork in because then they get a couple of calls
- 4:03Speaker 1: saying from a team, no, no, we'll give you, like
- 4:05Speaker 1: we'll give you us a day. It's not gonna be much,
- 4:08Speaker 1: but you get something for it.
- 4:09Speaker 2: I had one of those. I put it out and
- 4:12Speaker 2: then I got a call, Oops, he's being traded. I
- 4:15Speaker 2: think it might have been TJ. Eighth is now like
- 4:17Speaker 2: a quarterbacks coach.
- 4:18Speaker 1: Oh wow, yeah many years ago.
- 4:20Speaker 2: Yeah, I was like that, that was interesting. Okay, I
- 4:22Speaker 2: didn't know that they put a qualifying on it. If
- 4:24Speaker 2: we can't trade you, we'll cut you. But yeah, so yeah,
- 4:28Speaker 2: with Minnesota, the ESPN story, and I'll give you a
- 4:29Speaker 2: little background, So this happens sometimes like yeah, the the
- 4:35Speaker 2: they're trying to save cap space, but they also have
- 4:37Speaker 2: This is what I find interesting. So with Javon Hargrave, right,
- 4:41Speaker 2: he's got fifteen million in cash, four million of it's
- 4:44Speaker 2: fully guaranteed. So they're gonna if they can't trade hard Grave,
- 4:46Speaker 2: which is going to be very difficult. By the way
- 4:48Speaker 2: Hargrave turns, he actually is now thirty three years old.
- 4:52Speaker 2: Good luck trying to trade Hargrave. And it's fifteen million
- 4:54Speaker 2: dollars in cash. Let's due. So they're gonna eat if
- 4:58Speaker 2: they can find a team to take them. They're eat
- 5:00Speaker 2: four million that gome and just cash he'll take some
- 5:03Speaker 2: dead money, but they're gonna save some cap space, that's
- 5:06Speaker 2: why they're doing it. But that's not good. You signed
- 5:09Speaker 2: to a two year deal worth worth thirty million and
- 5:11Speaker 2: you're cutting him after one season. That's bad. That's now
- 5:14Speaker 2: that GM is gone now right, of course he had
- 5:17Speaker 2: a dafamento. He's months. He's with the Niners. He went
- 5:21Speaker 2: back to where he started. But uh, then the other
- 5:24Speaker 2: one was Aaron Jones. Aaron Jones sign a two year
- 5:29Speaker 2: deal as well, worth twenty million. He made ten million
- 5:33Speaker 2: a year one the second year cash is ten million,
- 5:35Speaker 2: two millions fully guaranteed. So they're gonna eat that if
- 5:37Speaker 2: they can't find a trade for him. So it's hard.
- 5:40Speaker 2: He's he's a good back. He two is older, he is,
- 5:44Speaker 2: he's thirty one, turns thirty two in December. Yeah, it's
- 5:47Speaker 2: hard man when you turn thirty in this business.
- 5:49Speaker 1: Yep, especially running back and he had all three last year.
- 5:53Speaker 1: He missed her a lot. Yeah yeah, yeah, Like you said,
- 5:58Speaker 1: people conflate casualty and cash casualty, Like if these guys
- 6:03Speaker 1: were performing at all pro level, the money would be
- 6:05Speaker 1: there for them, but they're just not. They're either and
- 6:08Speaker 1: Jones isn't bad. He's just like you said, he's older,
- 6:10Speaker 1: he's hurt. It's a fungible position where you can find
- 6:13Speaker 1: running backs, especially in the Kevin O'Connell offense, that wide
- 6:17Speaker 1: zone that they run a lot. And then of course
- 6:19Speaker 1: Hargrave really probably it's probably been two years now that
- 6:21Speaker 1: he's really been a real, true impactful interior pass rusher.
- 6:27Speaker 1: He may still have some juice left as a four
- 6:30Speaker 1: fourth defensive tackle, but you're not gonna pay. You're gonna
- 6:32Speaker 1: have that on your books. You're not gonna kind of
- 6:34Speaker 1: that kind of cash to a rotational defensive tackle who
- 6:37Speaker 1: might be fourth best.
- 6:38Speaker 2: Right, Yeah, he's you could rush the pass or you
- 6:41Speaker 2: gotta use him a certain way. But man, after one year,
- 6:43Speaker 2: now there are contract negotiator Robertzinski's running the show with help,
- 6:50Speaker 2: and it's it's kind of odd because he negotiated that contract.
- 6:53Speaker 2: Now he's gonna he's tell the agent opes in this case,
- 6:55Speaker 2: it's Rosenhal's as both players. I believe, so, yes, it
- 6:59Speaker 2: is what it is.
- 7:00Speaker 1: Yeah, but you know, I've been thinking about the Tanner
- 7:02Speaker 1: McKee situation and just how interesting it is because you know,
- 7:07Speaker 1: three years into a four year deal. This is the
- 7:09Speaker 1: ripe time to if you're going to get value. If
- 7:12Speaker 1: you can get value, get it. But you know, the
- 7:14Speaker 1: Eagles value themselves a backup quarterback who can win games,
- 7:19Speaker 1: and they have no other quarterbacks under contract, backup quarterbacks
- 7:23Speaker 1: other than you know, their starter of Jail and Hurts.
- 7:25Speaker 1: That there's also a risk in if you trade them,
- 7:29Speaker 1: then you have to go get yourself a veteran quarterback
- 7:31Speaker 1: and you probably have to pay more cash than you
- 7:33Speaker 1: would want to do that when you have a cross
- 7:35Speaker 1: controlled kid on a rookie deal who's pretty good and
- 7:39Speaker 1: who you think can win you games and might even
- 7:41Speaker 1: really take to this offense very well.
- 7:43Speaker 2: Yeah, So the talkerund the common was because that, you know,
- 7:46Speaker 2: we asked some people with some certain teams like what's
- 7:51Speaker 2: you like, what do you know about Tarner McKay. Everybody
- 7:53Speaker 2: knows about him, like he's kind of like a phenomenon
- 7:55Speaker 2: in the scouting circles. But the word around the league
- 7:58Speaker 2: is like, equals really don't want to trade this guy.
- 8:00Speaker 2: He's on the fanityvers deal because although Hurts stayed very
- 8:04Speaker 2: healthy last season, but with his injury history and you
- 8:08Speaker 2: never know, because they're there, I know some fans think
- 8:11Speaker 2: like if they trade aj Brown, oh well they're rebuilding. No,
- 8:15Speaker 2: they're not rebuilding. It's just a situation where at twenty
- 8:19Speaker 2: nine years old, which he turns in June, how long
- 8:21Speaker 2: do you want to wait? You don't want to wait
- 8:22Speaker 2: till it's too late, when the guy loses it to
- 8:24Speaker 2: his legs. You're talking about in terms of the explosiveness.
- 8:27Speaker 2: There's a belief with certain people I've spoken with watch
- 8:29Speaker 2: his tape. He's probably got two good years left in him.
- 8:33Speaker 2: So you you don't want to wait, you got you
- 8:34Speaker 2: got at least listen. This is how he said. But
- 8:36Speaker 2: getting back to McKee, Yeah, I've asked some people are
- 8:39Speaker 2: in the league. It sounds like they really don't want
- 8:40Speaker 2: to trade the guy. They really really like him and
- 8:42Speaker 2: value him. I was joking with one guy, said, I
- 8:45Speaker 2: hope the Washington game didn't hurt the value for the
- 8:47Speaker 2: player if they if they were listening, you know, right,
- 8:49Speaker 2: But how he said, will listen anyway, He's ready made
- 8:52Speaker 2: it pretty clear it is going to listen if anyone calls.
- 8:53Speaker 2: But they really value this player, right.
- 8:56Speaker 1: And yeah, I'm glad you said that, because you know
- 8:58Speaker 1: how people will run wild in the aggregation world. Yeah,
- 9:00Speaker 1: and try to make it sound like you're saying that
- 9:02Speaker 1: there's no shot in hades that McKee is going to
- 9:05Speaker 1: get traded. That's not what Adam just said. He said
- 9:07Speaker 1: what hegals don't want to do. Now, if someone comes
- 9:09Speaker 1: along and knocks how he socks off and he feels like,
- 9:12Speaker 1: I got no choice, but this is a great offer,
- 9:15Speaker 1: then all bets are off. But that you know, he's
- 9:17Speaker 1: even said that about A. J. Brown and other players.
- 9:19Speaker 1: So but I get why the Eagle ordinarily at him,
- 9:23Speaker 1: I would say, man, you don't trade him now for whatever.
- 9:27Speaker 1: You know, if you get a decent offer and you
- 9:28Speaker 1: say no, that he walks. At the end of next year,
- 9:31Speaker 1: maybe you get a COMPIC, but it might not be
- 9:32Speaker 1: a top fifty five. It won't be if it's a
- 9:34Speaker 1: COMPIC top.
- 9:35Speaker 2: Well here's the thing, right, Okay, so I hear you.
- 9:38Speaker 2: But all right, as of now and my count just
- 9:40Speaker 2: checking around, there are about eight teams that cannot tell
- 9:42Speaker 2: you for sure who their starting quarterback will be. We
- 9:44Speaker 2: know the Raiders are one of them, but it's gonna
- 9:46Speaker 2: be Mendoza. But technically right now that would take them
- 9:48Speaker 2: off a list. YEP. And if you go through, if
- 9:51Speaker 2: you go through the rest of the team, these seven teams,
- 9:53Speaker 2: I mean.
- 9:54Speaker 1: Yeah, I actually did that for a Philly Voice story.
- 9:56Speaker 1: I can list them off to you if you want.
- 9:57Speaker 1: But yeah, but we know that there's a teams that Dolphins.
- 10:00Speaker 2: Jats and I laughed at Darren moogither G. I'm trying
- 10:02Speaker 2: to play with the poker face trun act like they're
- 10:04Speaker 2: gonna keep field Fields. It's horrendous last season, right, Woody
- 10:07Speaker 2: Johnson took a shot at him, the owner. That's what
- 10:11Speaker 2: he though. He's just I mean, this is a this
- 10:15Speaker 2: is what happens. Like they put they they they threw
- 10:18Speaker 2: the carts to the table and they said he's our starter,
- 10:21Speaker 2: and they put get of the twenty million. He's signed
- 10:23Speaker 2: a two year deal with forty million that they guaranteed
- 10:25Speaker 2: thirty million of it, HM ten million of his twenty
- 10:28Speaker 2: million million in cash is fully guaranteed the season. But Fields, Yeah,
- 10:33Speaker 2: why would you get like, who are you competing against?
- 10:37Speaker 2: Out here? I know?
- 10:38Speaker 1: You know, do you know how often we find ourselves
- 10:40Speaker 1: asking that question about a signing, like or a like
- 10:43Speaker 1: when a trade mixed out, like who are you competing against?
- 10:46Speaker 2: For? That's a good job by the agent to get
- 10:48Speaker 2: the money in the year two. But man, I just
- 10:49Speaker 2: don't see the point of it, right, I mean, like
- 10:53Speaker 2: the Dolphins with the tow At situation, they may they
- 10:55Speaker 2: may wind up eating fifty four million. I mean, that's
- 10:58Speaker 2: that's how pathetic it is. Right, they don't have an
- 11:01Speaker 2: answer quarterback if they release he's not there's highly unluckily
- 11:05Speaker 2: it's gonna be with team. I mean, they're drying everything
- 11:07Speaker 2: they can to find another team. Yeah, Cleveland can't tell
- 11:09Speaker 2: you who their quarterback is. They should or Santa Trail
- 11:12Speaker 2: compete for it. They don't know yet. Steelers don't know yet, correct,
- 11:15Speaker 2: you know.
- 11:15Speaker 1: And by the way, I would say, even with the
- 11:17Speaker 1: Steelers and Colts, let's throw the Colts in there, because
- 11:19Speaker 1: you know, no, no, yet, they don't know yet. They'll probably
- 11:22Speaker 1: kind to try to figure out a way to get
- 11:24Speaker 1: Daniel Jones back there the injury. But those two teams can't.
- 11:28Speaker 1: There's like, this draft is not great with young quarterbacks.
- 11:32Speaker 1: So if you know, if you're bringing back Aaron Rodgers,
- 11:35Speaker 1: you're bringing back Daniel Jones, whatever, you still need to
- 11:37Speaker 1: have your eye on the future. And that's where a
- 11:39Speaker 1: guy like McKee might be really interesting as opposed to
- 11:42Speaker 1: a team trying to use a fourth or fifth round
- 11:44Speaker 1: pick on the quarterback they really don't like this year.
- 11:46Speaker 2: So the one thing I would say, though, one thing
- 11:49Speaker 2: I would say, though, you know, because I know it's
- 11:51Speaker 2: a little bit forward thinking, but let's say, you know,
- 11:53Speaker 2: they don't trade him, which is just likely the case.
- 11:55Speaker 2: Let's say he's with the Eagles to season. McKay, yep,
- 11:59Speaker 2: who knows what the twenty seven classes? Because I know
- 12:01Speaker 2: teams will look at that. What is the twenty early
- 12:03Speaker 2: word on the class? You're never going to get it right.
- 12:05Speaker 2: Some guys like Flacco. Nobody was talking about Flaca before
- 12:08Speaker 2: he was a senior at Delaware and he went off
- 12:09Speaker 2: right from being a seventh round pick to the first
- 12:11Speaker 2: round pick. That's his scouting grade was seventh round pick
- 12:14Speaker 2: by one of the scouting services. This is one that
- 12:16Speaker 2: league the league uses. Okay, that's that's the fact. Yeah,
- 12:19Speaker 2: so you never know. But I mean, if if there's
- 12:22Speaker 2: competition for McKee, who's to say he doesn't walk and
- 12:25Speaker 2: gets a huge deal, he could Yeah, that could fetch
- 12:28Speaker 2: a third round pick. That would So if you're the Eagles,
- 12:33Speaker 2: I'm fascinated to see where this goes. I'm just I mean, right,
- 12:38Speaker 2: just Minnesota, doesn't Minnesota. They hope it's McCarthy. They don't
- 12:42Speaker 2: know they're gonna bring competition anyway.
- 12:44Speaker 1: Mm hmm.
- 12:45Speaker 2: That's another team that's that that doesn't know, right, you
- 12:48Speaker 2: know it's Arizona terrible. They don't, they don't. It won't
- 12:51Speaker 2: be Murray.
- 12:52Speaker 1: Right. So so someone theoretically can offer how he app
- 12:57Speaker 1: like it, maybe like just randomly say it's like a
- 12:59Speaker 1: some in the second round, right, But Howie has to
- 13:02Speaker 1: do the math of well, if he walks and I
- 13:04Speaker 1: get a third round or it's not equal value, but
- 13:07Speaker 1: I get a year also, and he could help me
- 13:09Speaker 1: win a Super Bowl this year. If my starting quarterback
- 13:11Speaker 1: gets hurt, he can help me win the three or
- 13:13Speaker 1: four games that he may have to start that I
- 13:15Speaker 1: would have trouble finding someone else to do that at
- 13:18Speaker 1: a reasonable price. So there's that give and take of
- 13:21Speaker 1: weighing those. So it's good, it's interesting. It's gonna be
- 13:23Speaker 1: really really interesting. All right, let's move on to our
- 13:26Speaker 1: free agency. We'll talk about the offensive lineman and free agency.
- 13:29Speaker 1: This is always funny to me at him because it's
- 13:31Speaker 1: always it's always a large group of people. I don't
- 13:35Speaker 1: want to call it deep because, as we always say,
- 13:37Speaker 1: deep means you need to be able to play to
- 13:39Speaker 1: be considered depth. There's always a ton of offensive linemen
- 13:42Speaker 1: and free agency, but there's a lot of them that
- 13:44Speaker 1: are either past their prime or injured a lot, or
- 13:47Speaker 1: you're just not sure if they're gonna be your cup
- 13:49Speaker 1: of tea.
- 13:50Speaker 2: Yeah, there's quantity, but not a lot of quality, is
- 13:52Speaker 2: what you're saying for. So we'll start a tackle, like
- 13:55Speaker 2: if you need a backup, there are a lot of
- 13:57Speaker 2: quality backups. Could play guards, some could play right tackle,
- 14:01Speaker 2: some could play left, some could play both. Joda Williams,
- 14:05Speaker 2: you might remember him from the Bengals, who really didn't
- 14:07Speaker 2: want to play right tackle. When he went to Arizona,
- 14:09Speaker 2: he finally gave in. He played both left and right.
- 14:11Speaker 2: He's had some injuries. Jack Conklin, the question is how
- 14:14Speaker 2: much longer does he want to play? Yeah, who's a
- 14:17Speaker 2: right tackle? He's a left tackle. In college at Michigan State,
- 14:21Speaker 2: he played with Connor Cook. If you remember, I believe yes,
- 14:24Speaker 2: the drafty quarterback had really never made it with the Raiders.
- 14:27Speaker 1: I like to Adam, I thought he was gonna make
- 14:30Speaker 1: it in the NFL.
- 14:32Speaker 2: Yeah, a lot of people were, so were the Raiders. Yeah.
- 14:34Speaker 2: So it was Regie McKenzie on that one. Braden Smith,
- 14:38Speaker 2: who's the right tackle, played Garden College. He moved to
- 14:40Speaker 2: right tackle with the Colts. He's out there. Kem Robinson,
- 14:44Speaker 2: who's a backup now he's not a he because the
- 14:47Speaker 2: the Browns had so many problems left tackle with injury,
- 14:50Speaker 2: he went up being acquired. He's a backup at this
- 14:52Speaker 2: point in his career now right the right tackle group.
- 14:55Speaker 2: Jermaine Iluminor had a He's a good player. He could
- 14:57Speaker 2: play right tackle or guard.
- 14:59Speaker 1: Mm hm.
- 15:00Speaker 2: He's a mid level free agent. We'll see if the
- 15:02Speaker 2: Giants bring him back. Joe Noteboom, who was the original
- 15:06Speaker 2: replacement for Andrew Whitworth at left tackle for the Rams,
- 15:10Speaker 2: unfortunately didn't work out. Right he's moved on. He was
- 15:13Speaker 2: with Baltimore the season, could play right and left tackle.
- 15:15Speaker 2: A guy that I kind of like, he's kind of
- 15:16Speaker 2: sneaky as a quality backup is Trey Pipkins, who got
- 15:21Speaker 2: all moved all around this past season due to all
- 15:22Speaker 2: the injuries they had. He's played right tackle on guard.
- 15:26Speaker 2: Then there's Trevor Penning who just never made it as
- 15:29Speaker 2: a left tackle with the Saints. You remember him, Yeah?
- 15:32Speaker 2: Was it Northern Iowa.
- 15:33Speaker 1: Wasn't he the player the Saints picked with the first
- 15:37Speaker 1: round pick that they traded to the to get from
- 15:40Speaker 1: the Eagles. You may know better.
- 15:42Speaker 2: No, I don't know. I think it was, but yeah,
- 15:46Speaker 2: well he was. Yeah, he was the first round pick
- 15:47Speaker 2: of twenty twenty two. It just didn't work out. It
- 15:51Speaker 2: just didn't work out. And you know, they moved him
- 15:54Speaker 2: around a little bit. He could play right tackle as well.
- 15:56Speaker 2: Dj Humphries long time left tackle for the Cardinal He
- 16:01Speaker 2: was with the Rams last season. George Fanner was a
- 16:03Speaker 2: basketball player in college. He is a left tackle, right
- 16:07Speaker 2: tackles with watching Seattle found him. That was a great
- 16:09Speaker 2: undirected free agent. Kelvin Beacham, He's gonna have a good
- 16:12Speaker 2: career whatever he wants to do after football. Who's a
- 16:16Speaker 2: former left tackle, play right back, right tackle for the Cardinals.
- 16:18Speaker 2: And Fred Johnson of course, the left tackle right tackle
- 16:21Speaker 2: of the Eagles. We'll see where that goes. And then
- 16:24Speaker 2: Evan Neil, who never he I'll be honest with you,
- 16:28Speaker 2: the tape was not great from Alabama on him and
- 16:32Speaker 2: he was a major bus for the Giants, so it
- 16:33Speaker 2: was a complete miss.
- 16:35Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 16:36Speaker 2: Never, he got bench pretty early in his career.
- 16:38Speaker 1: Yeah, yep, yep, that is true. Man. When you see
- 16:43Speaker 1: Jack Hunklin at the top of this list, you think,
- 16:46Speaker 1: you to your point, if he wants to still play,
- 16:50Speaker 1: he'd be a great backup. I mean, he's just dealt
- 16:53Speaker 1: with a lot of injuries in his career. But if
- 16:55Speaker 1: he's your top swing tackle and your tackle goes out
- 16:58Speaker 1: for four games, like, you're pretty confidence Jack Conklin can
- 17:01Speaker 1: win help you win.
- 17:02Speaker 2: Yeah, he would be a right tack at this point. Yeah. Right,
- 17:05Speaker 2: I don't know that he I don't I can't remember
- 17:06Speaker 2: last time I know he's a left tackle in college.
- 17:08Speaker 2: I don't know he's played right left tackling a long time.
- 17:10Speaker 1: But that's true.
- 17:10Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, Look, there's always this is as I've said,
- 17:14Speaker 2: As I've said before, there's a reason why players get
- 17:16Speaker 2: to the market. It's not like the NBA where a
- 17:19Speaker 2: lot of them are superstars, right, even the mid level
- 17:22Speaker 2: for you just let them get fully guaranteed money for
- 17:24Speaker 2: their for their entire tirety of their career because they
- 17:26Speaker 2: were small rosters. Yeah, they spent a lot of money.
- 17:29Speaker 2: Folks go crazy over the contracts, but remember you're talking
- 17:31Speaker 2: about fifteen man rosters fifty three, right, you know, so
- 17:35Speaker 2: you can pay more players. So yeah, if you want
- 17:38Speaker 2: to back up, they're fine backups. It's the quality of
- 17:41Speaker 2: the tackle group is not very good.
- 17:43Speaker 1: I agree. I think the first four guys you mentioned, Williams, Conklin, Smith,
- 17:47Speaker 1: Robinson though, are pretty well. I'm a little iffy on
- 17:50Speaker 1: Cam Robinson. It seems like he'll play well in spurts
- 17:52Speaker 1: and then he'll just not. But those first three anyway,
- 17:55Speaker 1: if they're backups, though, that's pretty good. You've you've really
- 17:58Speaker 1: helped deepen your your your bench if you have a
- 18:01Speaker 1: backup like that guy.
- 18:03Speaker 2: To give you an idea of how much time Jack
- 18:04Speaker 2: Conkin has missed, he's played ten years, Yeah, which is
- 18:08Speaker 2: let eleven point four games per season. Yeah, that's like
- 18:12Speaker 2: that's way too much time he's been. In fact, he's
- 18:14Speaker 2: only played He hasn't played a full season since twenty nineteen. Right.
- 18:20Speaker 1: That's what kind of makes him the perfect backup though,
- 18:22Speaker 1: because he has starter talent. When he plays, he's just
- 18:25Speaker 1: constantly hurt. Evens playing might have dipped a little bit.
- 18:28Speaker 1: I can't say I've been watching a lot of Jack
- 18:29Speaker 1: Conkrein throughout the years, but I have been watching a
- 18:31Speaker 1: lot of offensive line play in the NFL for a
- 18:33Speaker 1: while and it stinks. We all know that. So this
- 18:36Speaker 1: guy has played a long time in this league. And
- 18:38Speaker 1: if he's again, if he's your top backup right tackle
- 18:41Speaker 1: and you got him on a good number, you know,
- 18:43Speaker 1: feasible number, that that could be gold. I mean, if
- 18:45Speaker 1: you're trying to win playoff games, you're trying to win
- 18:47Speaker 1: to get a number one seed, it's gold to have
- 18:49Speaker 1: a guy like that.
- 18:50Speaker 2: Yeah. Now the guard market is very strong comparatively.
- 18:53Speaker 1: Yeah, oh yeah, yeah, yeah, it's.
- 18:55Speaker 2: Now there's there's there are a couple of them up,
- 18:58Speaker 2: like with Zion Johnson to the chart. I'll be interested
- 19:01Speaker 2: to see what happens here. I know, I understand that. Uh,
- 19:05Speaker 2: the the GM, the drafting is no longer there and
- 19:09Speaker 2: sometimes in the schemes have changed. Show you're not sure
- 19:12Speaker 2: if you want to bring him back. He's out of
- 19:15Speaker 2: Boston College, but there Joel Botonio, if he's playing, is
- 19:20Speaker 2: an absolute star, borderline Hall of Fame player, just a
- 19:22Speaker 2: great guy and a great football player. He's a y
- 19:26Speaker 2: Teller was a great acquisition from Buffalo. Uh, why not
- 19:30Speaker 2: being quality player player. He's had some injuries in Isaac Sayamalo,
- 19:33Speaker 2: but he's a good player. Yeah, absolutely, you know he's
- 19:37Speaker 2: he's he's in his thirties now, but guy's a good
- 19:40Speaker 2: football player. And John Simpson of the Jets an underrated guard.
- 19:44Speaker 2: Dylan Parham who played at Memphis formerly of the Raiders.
- 19:48Speaker 2: He's out there. H ver Elijah Vera Tucker has had
- 19:52Speaker 2: a lot of injuries. Talent player drafted by Joe Douglas,
- 19:54Speaker 2: David Edwards, Rams Bills. I mean, you go through the list,
- 19:58Speaker 2: James Daniels, who's already cut by the Dolphins. He's a
- 20:01Speaker 2: street free agent. And by the way, just so folks know,
- 20:05Speaker 2: once you once you're cut, you're immediately available, right.
- 20:10Speaker 1: James d could have signed yesterday.
- 20:12Speaker 2: Yeah, exactly right. I just want to make people some
- 20:14Speaker 2: times of people are confused.
- 20:16Speaker 1: Yep.
- 20:17Speaker 2: Uh. Then there's some guys who've been hurt a little bit,
- 20:20Speaker 2: guys who've underachieved. Then there's a sleeper like Chris Paul
- 20:24Speaker 2: who's I know, uh that he was one of the
- 20:27Speaker 2: strongest offensive linemen the Commandos have had. He's just not
- 20:32Speaker 2: a great pass protector, but he's very strong. Sort of
- 20:33Speaker 2: an underrated guy for free agency, Greg Greg Van Roten's
- 20:37Speaker 2: still out of the University of Pennsylvania. This guy believes
- 20:41Speaker 2: gotta be thirteen or fourteen years he's been in the league.
- 20:43Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I got a kick out of what you're saying.
- 20:48Speaker 1: There was an ESPN Buzz Combined Buzz story from uh
- 20:53Speaker 1: Dan Graziano and Feller what's Fellers? So why can't I
- 20:56Speaker 1: get Jeremy Feller? And they mentioned Chris Paul is one
- 20:59Speaker 1: of these sleeper free agents that doesn't get talked about
- 21:01Speaker 1: a lot, but good And my first thought was, if
- 21:04Speaker 1: you've been an inside the Birds listener for a long time,
- 21:06Speaker 1: and this is why it pays to be Adam you,
- 21:09Speaker 1: I give you your credit on this one. You have
- 21:11Speaker 1: been talking about how much the commander has valued him
- 21:14Speaker 1: as a top backup who they thought could go in
- 21:15Speaker 1: and play. You've been talking about Chris Paul because we
- 21:18Speaker 1: always make the Chris Paul joke because it's the only team.
- 21:20Speaker 1: Is he gonna play for another?
- 21:21Speaker 2: Right?
- 21:21Speaker 1: But you've been talking about Chris Paul for two years,
- 21:23Speaker 1: so it's good to see that he's probably gonna get
- 21:25Speaker 1: rewarded here in free agency because he's a decent player.
- 21:28Speaker 2: Yeah, I think he was. I think he was what
- 21:31Speaker 2: a seventh round pick? Yeah, he actually was a starter
- 21:35Speaker 2: last year. It was a third rounder of twenty twenty
- 21:37Speaker 2: two out of Tulsa, which is not a great football school,
- 21:41Speaker 2: very raw when he came in, but he was developed
- 21:43Speaker 2: and that's a good story. Greg Van Rotin, by the way, Yeah,
- 21:46Speaker 2: he was an undirected freehitchen for the Packers in twenty twelve. Wow.
- 21:51Speaker 1: Wow, So Greg Van wrote in twenty twelve that is so,
- 21:55Speaker 1: we had a former Eagles advance scout on with us
- 21:59Speaker 1: for our Patreon folks. His name is Dan Hatman. Yeah,
- 22:02Speaker 1: and somebody asked that he didn't ask an Eagle with us,
- 22:05Speaker 1: so our Patriot members got to ask him questions, and
- 22:07Speaker 1: somebody asked him like, who's somebody you banged the table for?
- 22:10Speaker 1: That really stands out. And he went back to twenty
- 22:12Speaker 1: twelve when he was with the Eagles who had a
- 22:15Speaker 1: million injuries on the offensive ales Andy Reids last year
- 22:18Speaker 1: if you recall, and they had all these injuries. Howard
- 22:20Speaker 1: mud I believe was the offensive line coach. In fact,
- 22:23Speaker 1: they had so many injuries at him. Remember Kyle Dvan
- 22:25Speaker 1: wasn't he playing for.
- 22:26Speaker 2: The Eagles's been a longtime college assistant offense. Yeah.
- 22:31Speaker 1: Yeah, so so Dan said he went back through his
- 22:34Speaker 1: reports and with the understanding that the guys he was
- 22:37Speaker 1: looking at right now were street free agents who haven't played,
- 22:40Speaker 1: were not supposed to be good. The one guy he
- 22:42Speaker 1: recommended was Greg Van Roten, and I believe that Eagles
- 22:47Speaker 1: might have brought him in for work out. They never
- 22:48Speaker 1: signed him. Then he wound up I guess going to somewhere.
- 22:51Speaker 1: I think he even went somewhere else before the Packers.
- 22:53Speaker 2: He just know what happened was, Yeah, he was at
- 22:56Speaker 2: He might have been in one of those satellite leagues.
- 22:58Speaker 2: He was out of the league for a while for
- 22:59Speaker 2: like three years. Mm hmm. They bounce around Carolina, the Jets,
- 23:02Speaker 2: the Bills, the Raiders of it. Then then the Giants.
- 23:06Speaker 2: Yeah he's he's started. I mean these guys started one
- 23:08Speaker 2: hundred and five games.
- 23:09Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, I mean he went to what Penn He
- 23:12Speaker 1: went to somewhere really small.
- 23:14Speaker 2: Yeah. Now, it was a cool story. His doubt for
- 23:16Speaker 2: this is strictly for the people from Philly, but his agent,
- 23:19Speaker 2: Bill Baldini, you remember my his dad, Bill worked for
- 23:22Speaker 2: Channel ten as a general reporter.
- 23:26Speaker 1: Yep. So I mean you don't see a whole lot
- 23:29Speaker 1: of NFL players coming out of pen no offense, Ross, No,
- 23:33Speaker 1: never mind, Ross went to Princeton.
- 23:35Speaker 2: Yes, a lot of IVY League players, but.
- 23:37Speaker 1: No, certainly not certainly not. So yeah, what a great
- 23:39Speaker 1: story for him. So how would you like to be
- 23:43Speaker 1: a Browns quarterback? At him the next one and be like, oh,
- 23:45Speaker 1: so both of your guards, who are actually pretty good,
- 23:48Speaker 1: maybe the only two good.
- 23:49Speaker 2: Parts of your two right tackle.
- 23:51Speaker 1: And right tackle are all going to free agency. That's wonderful, awesome.
- 23:54Speaker 2: Well, here's the thing. I mean, yeah, and Dwan Jones
- 23:59Speaker 2: was was really as to be a right tackle one
- 24:01Speaker 2: of playing left. He you're worry about his weight. I
- 24:03Speaker 2: mean there are Ethan Posik, who we'll talk about later
- 24:07Speaker 2: at center. So four of the five starters of offensive
- 24:10Speaker 2: line of free agents, good luck?
- 24:11Speaker 1: Right, let's real quick. I want to relay a little
- 24:15Speaker 1: bit the Isaac sam Molo situation to a little bit
- 24:17Speaker 1: of Nikobe Dean and I'll allow me to give context
- 24:21Speaker 1: to this. Okay, you and I were at the combine?
- 24:24Speaker 1: Was it three or four? I mean We've been to many,
- 24:26Speaker 1: but the specific one where sam Olo is set to
- 24:28Speaker 1: become a free agent, all right, And we talked to
- 24:31Speaker 1: different teams and we collaborated, and what we found out
- 24:33Speaker 1: was a lot of teams had him ranked as the
- 24:35Speaker 1: number one guard slash center on the free agent market.
- 24:39Speaker 2: Yeah, right.
- 24:40Speaker 1: Show the difference between valuation and evaluation, which are two
- 24:45Speaker 1: very important distinctive terms. He did. He only wound up
- 24:48Speaker 1: signing a one year deal that year with the Steelers
- 24:50Speaker 1: late in free agency. Why because of his injury history.
- 24:54Speaker 1: It wasn't the talent, it was the major durability concern.
- 24:58Speaker 1: So I think you can apply kind of logic I'd
- 25:02Speaker 1: be you know, well, we'll do some digging. I'm sure
- 25:04Speaker 1: teams have Nakobe Dean from a talent perspective as a
- 25:08Speaker 1: highly ranked off the ball linebacker free agent, and we'll
- 25:11Speaker 1: get into that more later in the week. But my
- 25:13Speaker 1: point is it doesn't mean they're going to give him
- 25:16Speaker 1: market resetting linebacker. You have to take into account the
- 25:20Speaker 1: wear and tear, the injuries and the durability.
- 25:22Speaker 2: That's the thing. And it's same with ree blank ship
- 25:25Speaker 2: beauty is and I have the beholder like Okay, NW
- 25:27Speaker 2: Kobe Dean's tape has been fantastic the last two seasons, right,
- 25:31Speaker 2: But then you look at the interro history, which is major,
- 25:35Speaker 2: and you you know what he's like for you, But
- 25:38Speaker 2: does the other team, like Dallas or other teams see
- 25:42Speaker 2: it the same way? From a virus stamp. But I
- 25:43Speaker 2: know Jerry Jones has been talking up I'm gonna bust
- 25:45Speaker 2: a bank or it's a new phrase every year, and
- 25:49Speaker 2: people try to hold Hi accountable for that stuff. But
- 25:52Speaker 2: I mean, that's where Dallas makes so much sense for
- 25:55Speaker 2: a Nakobe if Jerry's because Jerry was mister fre agency.
- 25:58Speaker 2: Then for decades he stopped doing it and they started
- 26:02Speaker 2: to build their roster with their own players mostly, but
- 26:05Speaker 2: they missed on so many players or the guy they've
- 26:08Speaker 2: had character problems. Well, Kobe has no character problems. He's
- 26:10Speaker 2: an absolute superstar person player. And they missed on Karneth
- 26:14Speaker 2: Murray on that trade Overshown has had so many injuries
- 26:18Speaker 2: now they're they're gonna they're gonna go to a thirty
- 26:20Speaker 2: four front, so they need two inside backers. I'm just
- 26:22Speaker 2: telling you watch Dallas a bunch of teams, but look,
- 26:25Speaker 2: Nkobe can't find a season a contract. He changed agents.
- 26:31Speaker 2: The bunch of Eagles players have changed agents. You went
- 26:35Speaker 2: to Mike McCartney and there and uh and uh whatever
- 26:40Speaker 2: group he's with, I forget right now. But Evannerchuk the
- 26:43Speaker 2: uh that group.
- 26:45Speaker 1: Yeah, so.
- 26:48Speaker 2: You know, if he can't find that that contract, we'll
- 26:51Speaker 2: see where he goes. I mean, now, the Eagles, they
- 26:53Speaker 2: got to play Campbell. But let's remember Campbell's got four
- 26:57Speaker 2: years plus a fifth year option. So that's just it's
- 27:00Speaker 2: just something. Well, we'll look into this. I'm just I'm
- 27:02Speaker 2: curious what would happen if you can't find that deal.
- 27:05Speaker 2: Let's say, so what a team offers the best? He
- 27:08Speaker 2: gets a seven million right, mm hmm, Well that's way
- 27:12Speaker 2: less than he's I mean, he's worth to me twelve
- 27:14Speaker 2: or thirteen million this season.
- 27:15Speaker 1: Mm hmmm.
- 27:16Speaker 2: Because you take it fantastic, it's just you. But you
- 27:19Speaker 2: got to take it. You got to get a discount
- 27:20Speaker 2: for injuries. So I'm not completely roll at the point
- 27:24Speaker 2: why we bring this up, and I'm not completely rolling
- 27:26Speaker 2: them out here. I understand it's a long shot for
- 27:27Speaker 2: him to come back, but sometimes if you don't get
- 27:31Speaker 2: what you want to sign a one year deal to
- 27:33Speaker 2: come back. Now, we say a mallow because had moved on.
- 27:35Speaker 2: They just they made a decision. They didn't want to
- 27:37Speaker 2: bring them back. Right Isaac, now, by the way, turns
- 27:40Speaker 2: thirty three in October, But he's still a good player, man.
- 27:42Speaker 1: I know the Steers really like Hey, I know a
- 27:44Speaker 1: lot of you out there are just like me. You

- 29:50Speaker 1: I did check on that draft, the twenty twenty two
- 29:54Speaker 1: draft the Eagles. The Saints did take Penning with the
- 29:57Speaker 1: pick that they got from the Eagles. Okay, so pretty
- 30:00Speaker 1: interesting stuff there. I always thought that was interesting. All right,
- 30:03Speaker 1: let's talk about the middle, the guys in the middle
- 30:05Speaker 1: of center, which is always an interesting one to me
- 30:10Speaker 1: in terms of, like you said, quality or quantity. I mean,
- 30:13Speaker 1: there's always not a lot of true centers. Sometimes there's
- 30:16Speaker 1: guard centers, right, but obviously this is one. This group
- 30:19Speaker 1: is headlined by a guy who it'll be very interesting
- 30:22Speaker 1: to me if he hits the free agent market, because
- 30:24Speaker 1: Tyler Lindenbaum is usually the kind of guy that the
- 30:27Speaker 1: Ravens lock up when they can.
- 30:29Speaker 2: So I yeah, they made they made a Claire's priority.
- 30:33Speaker 2: They are the host made a pretty clear their GM
- 30:35Speaker 2: that he's he's a priority. Let's assume he's going back.
- 30:37Speaker 2: Lloyd Cushion Barry was cut. Yeah, this is what we're
- 30:41Speaker 2: seeing a lot of is the GM that drafted him
- 30:46Speaker 2: got fired or the STAT coaching staff was fired and
- 30:48Speaker 2: he doesn't fit the scheme like they're like they're moving on.
- 30:53Speaker 2: Like Tyler Piatas, he hasn't been released yet, but he's
- 30:56Speaker 2: been total he's going to be released. Now they're gonna
- 30:58Speaker 2: avoid the man. I was gonna avoid a one million
- 31:01Speaker 2: dollar roster bonus doing April first. And by the way,
- 31:04Speaker 2: the funny thing about that April first is an odd time.
- 31:07Speaker 2: It's usually like the first day of free agency, the
- 31:09Speaker 2: fifth day, the third day. Adam Peters came from the Niners.
- 31:13Speaker 2: For decades, the roster bonus investing date was April first.
- 31:18Speaker 2: And when I I someone I some for another team
- 31:21Speaker 2: told me, watch the oddish. She goes, don't be shocked
- 31:23Speaker 2: if he's he goes, we need a center. We're not
- 31:25Speaker 2: looking at him, like really, he goes, he's stayed one. Great.
- 31:27Speaker 2: I was like, okay, he goes, win shocked that he
- 31:30Speaker 2: was cut and yeah, there you go.
- 31:32Speaker 1: Uh wait was it for April first? March first? April first?
- 31:37Speaker 2: Got it? That's to give them, See, the Niners of
- 31:40Speaker 2: wanted that time to assess what the market looks like,
- 31:45Speaker 2: give themselves two weeks cushion. No agents shouldn't agree to
- 31:48Speaker 2: that stuff.
- 31:48Speaker 1: You shouldn't. I was going to say, surprise the agents exactly.
- 31:52Speaker 2: But but uh I know George Kittle. I know George
- 31:55Speaker 2: Kittle got them to change that. That that's on one
- 31:59Speaker 2: of his extensions. But so the centers that are out
- 32:01Speaker 2: there on your point, Austin Corbett, who's had a lot
- 32:04Speaker 2: of injuries, might remember for the Rams that the Panthers
- 32:07Speaker 2: could play guard center mention Ethan Posik formerly the Seahawks,
- 32:11Speaker 2: and Brown's Connor McGovern Evan Brown, Oh, Brett Toth, I
- 32:16Speaker 2: want to put him out, he could play center today?
- 32:18Speaker 2: What that tape? I am fascinating with Stout gone right.
- 32:23Speaker 2: Eagles need help. They need at least too they need
- 32:25Speaker 2: two veteran free agents. Okay, they need to have two guys.
- 32:28Speaker 2: Whether it's where they bring back Tooth of Fred Johnson, well,
- 32:30Speaker 2: however they want to do it, they don't have the
- 32:32Speaker 2: seasonson starts with September. But they got to be able
- 32:35Speaker 2: to operate like they their their death was not very good,
- 32:38Speaker 2: right at least two and plus they want to see
- 32:40Speaker 2: how Kennell develops. But Tooth, to me, you got to
- 32:45Speaker 2: look at bringing him back. I understand Stouts no longer there,
- 32:48Speaker 2: but then the that's a front off standpoint But from
- 32:51Speaker 2: a coaching standpoint, does he fit right? Does he fit your.
- 32:57Speaker 1: I actually think he fits more what we think or
- 33:02Speaker 1: project they might want to do with getting these movement,
- 33:05Speaker 1: you know, and Howie by the way, talked about this
- 33:08Speaker 1: more athletic movement from the offensive line, more horizontal movement, kickouts,
- 33:12Speaker 1: screen type movement. So that to me is where we
- 33:16Speaker 1: saw to function the best when he did it in
- 33:18Speaker 1: that game against the Giants when he played center. Yeah,
- 33:21Speaker 1: when he played left guard and they were still trying
- 33:24Speaker 1: to pound the roll up ball inside and he's sitting
- 33:26Speaker 1: there blocking three techniques and getting swallowed up at the
- 33:29Speaker 1: point of attack. That's not what Brett toath is. So
- 33:32Speaker 1: there's a chance that he could better fit the offense.
- 33:35Speaker 2: Yeah, because he's athletic. So ye, I mean there, I'm
- 33:39Speaker 2: just looking at this. Is there anyone like Ryan Bates
- 33:41Speaker 2: who played at Penn State formerly the Eagles, could play
- 33:43Speaker 2: center and guard. He's out there. Liam Eikenberger really never
- 33:46Speaker 2: made it with Miami, drafted by another GM. See, this
- 33:49Speaker 2: is another thing you're seeing when the new GM comes in.
- 33:52Speaker 2: That's not you know, we didn't draft him, so there's
- 33:55Speaker 2: no allegiance to the player, right, So Yeah, and then
- 33:59Speaker 2: there's a couple of guards. It's like Dylan Raidens who
- 34:01Speaker 2: never made it with the Titans, was with the Saints. Yeah, Uh,
- 34:04Speaker 2: Danny Pinner with the Colts, cul Strange, but col Strange
- 34:07Speaker 2: was a guy we knew. The Eagles had a little
- 34:09Speaker 2: bit of interest last summer when he was up available,
- 34:12Speaker 2: but I think there was some money. I think he
- 34:14Speaker 2: had some decent amount of money and the Eagles weren't
- 34:16Speaker 2: going to take a lot of cash from that guy
- 34:18Speaker 2: was going to even back up and he was with
- 34:20Speaker 2: he was with Miami. Uh, Cordell Vohlson was with with
- 34:24Speaker 2: the with the with the Bengals, and Ed Ingram who
- 34:27Speaker 2: the Texans acquired from the Vikings just wasn't a great player.
- 34:31Speaker 2: So again, more often than not, you see why a
- 34:34Speaker 2: guy comes to market. Now, there are some times on
- 34:36Speaker 2: the club does not want to put the tag on
- 34:37Speaker 2: the player, and they're they're they're they're talking to the agent.
- 34:42Speaker 2: You mentioned it earlier. You see what you get, see
- 34:44Speaker 2: what the other teams think of you get back to us.
- 34:47Speaker 2: More often than not they figure it out, but there's
- 34:49Speaker 2: sometimes like it. We'll get more to this next later
- 34:53Speaker 2: in the week and next week Jalen Phillips is an
- 34:56Speaker 2: Eagles priority to bring back. But I mean if the
- 35:00Speaker 2: agent once well above market, that changes it and they
- 35:03Speaker 2: don't want Eagles are see the agent should have leverage
- 35:05Speaker 2: here because they have no depth. I mean it's it's
- 35:08Speaker 2: really m BJ's got the bat signal. Then you've got
- 35:11Speaker 2: Nolan Smith and all his injuries. Okay, I mean he's
- 35:14Speaker 2: he gives you something off the bench. He's getting towards it.
- 35:19Speaker 2: But if if Phelips doesn't resign, they are so light
- 35:22Speaker 2: at edge.
- 35:24Speaker 1: Indeed, I'll tell you what two guys so I think,
- 35:26Speaker 1: I'm I know, I'm interested in just to see what happened.
- 35:29Speaker 1: And you know, I think even for Eagles if they're
- 35:31Speaker 1: if they're backups, I have to see them. But the
- 35:34Speaker 1: two Panthers guys I thought played really well. The Panthers
- 35:36Speaker 1: are a really good interior run game. Now they have
- 35:39Speaker 1: two really good guards and Damian Lewis and Robert Hunt.
- 35:42Speaker 1: But May's played a lot of center. Corbett played both
- 35:45Speaker 1: garden center. There were a lot of injuries they had,
- 35:48Speaker 1: so they were kind of rotating those guys in and
- 35:50Speaker 1: they ran the ball really well this year, both with
- 35:53Speaker 1: Rico Dawdle and then when Chuba Hubbard got healthy, they
- 35:56Speaker 1: ran the ball well inside, especially, so those two guys
- 35:59Speaker 1: are interesting to me.
- 36:00Speaker 2: Yeah, Corbett turns thirty one in the fall. He was
- 36:03Speaker 2: drafted by Cleveland, then traded to the Rams. Then he's
- 36:07Speaker 2: been with Carolina a ton of injuries. He was on
- 36:09Speaker 2: IR three straight seasons with Carolin, also was on Pupach
- 36:14Speaker 2: said the worst luck yep. And now look that turns
- 36:17Speaker 2: thirty one in at the start of the season. So
- 36:20Speaker 2: he he's the kind of guy that it was you
- 36:24Speaker 2: were talking about this earlier, where you know what he is.
- 36:28Speaker 2: He'll accept his role. He's probably a backup at this
- 36:31Speaker 2: point of his core because he had so many injuries,
- 36:33Speaker 2: but he started a lot of games. He's got versatility,
- 36:35Speaker 2: that's what That's what the Eagles need right now. They
- 36:38Speaker 2: need an answer if a starter gets hurt. They can't
- 36:42Speaker 2: have a guy like it's nice that you think Drew
- 36:45Speaker 2: Kennell has got upside, that's great, but he's yeah, he's
- 36:49Speaker 2: to play guard right right.
- 36:52Speaker 1: So, because you know, the Eagles had sayam all when
- 36:54Speaker 1: they drafted him, and it was nice, but they went
- 36:56Speaker 1: out and got Steph with Newski and That's how they
- 36:59Speaker 1: won the stupid because Wes Newski had to step in
- 37:02Speaker 1: there and play left guard, and he played it pretty
- 37:04Speaker 1: well enough for them to win the Super Bowl.
- 37:06Speaker 2: It's always Isaac was just not mentally ready. He came
- 37:11Speaker 2: in not a lot of confidence. Then boy won heat.
- 37:13Speaker 2: When the coffin is kicked in, it was terrific. Had
- 37:15Speaker 2: a lot of injuries. Good football player, good story development.
- 37:18Speaker 2: But yeah, so before we get out of here, it's
- 37:20Speaker 2: it's a it's a buyer's market at guard, somewhat at center.
- 37:28Speaker 2: If you want to back up, you could get a
- 37:30Speaker 2: decent backup, but a tackle you're not going to find
- 37:33Speaker 2: a quality starter most likely either side.
- 37:37Speaker 1: All right, good stuff. So that finished off the offensive
- 37:40Speaker 1: NFL Free Agency preview, and we'll get right into defense
- 37:44Speaker 1: throughout the week and then next thing, you know, Adam,
- 37:47Speaker 1: you know, all all the madness will begin, the NFL
- 37:51Speaker 1: version of March madness right next That's right, all right,
- 37:55Speaker 1: that I'll do it for this episode of Inside the
