- 0:00Speaker 1: This is the Almost Famous podcast with iHeartRadio.
- 0:04Speaker 2: Hello, everyone, welcome to the Almost Famous podcast. This is
- 0:07Speaker 2: not Ben nor Ashley. I'm Caitlyn Bell and I am
- 0:11Speaker 2: taking over for Ben and Ashley. We are in NAPO
- 0:14Speaker 2: with iHeart and we're here for Live in the Vineyard
- 0:17Speaker 2: with a bunch of other Bachelor Nation members, including Katie
- 0:21Speaker 2: and Zach.
- 0:21Speaker 3: Welcome. Hello, Hello there.
- 0:24Speaker 2: Great to have you guys, Yeah on my podcast. I'm
- 0:30Speaker 2: excited to chat about weddings and your lives and everything
- 0:33Speaker 2: you guys are up to.
- 0:35Speaker 3: Same.
- 0:38Speaker 2: Okay, wait, I'm sure all of your followers know this,
- 0:40Speaker 2: but I don't particularly know this. Where are you guys
- 0:42Speaker 2: living right now?
- 0:43Speaker 4: We're in Austin, Texas, and we've been in Austin since
- 0:47Speaker 4: we wrapped up everything with the show ever since.
- 0:50Speaker 2: Do you feel like that's permanent.
- 0:53Speaker 3: For now?
- 0:53Speaker 1: I think we will definitely like raise our first kid
- 0:57Speaker 1: in Texas and kind of just like feel it out
- 0:59Speaker 1: from there. But I know, I think we were telling
- 1:03Speaker 1: some of Bachelor Nation, or at least on my platform,
- 1:05Speaker 1: that we were thinking about moving to the Carolinas, whether
- 1:08Speaker 1: it was like north or South, but that hurricane came
- 1:12Speaker 1: through and kind of just like made me like really
- 1:14Speaker 1: iffy about it.
- 1:15Speaker 3: So yeah, what he laughed about.
- 1:20Speaker 4: No, nothing, because we we were like kind of dead
- 1:24Speaker 4: set on North Carolina, both of us have never been
- 1:27Speaker 4: before and were it just sounds and feels right. Yeah,
- 1:30Speaker 4: and then you know, things change and we're like, no,
- 1:34Speaker 4: we're sticking in Austin. We're gonna buy here, we can
- 1:37Speaker 4: see a future here.
- 1:38Speaker 1: Yeah, it just felt good and we were like, I mean,
- 1:40Speaker 1: at least me, you already had a community, but I
- 1:43Speaker 1: was like building like friendships and it just finally felt good.
- 1:47Speaker 1: So yeah, and it's yeah, I think Texas is great
- 1:50Speaker 1: for now, but who knows what's gonna happen.
- 1:52Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah, Okay. I lived in North Carolina for
- 1:55Speaker 2: a bit. It is a beautiful state.
- 1:57Speaker 3: I hear, I hear.
- 1:58Speaker 1: It's amazing that oh in the mountains, you get the season,
- 2:01Speaker 1: it's and it's also closer.
- 2:02Speaker 3: To my home, like my family in Canada.
- 2:05Speaker 1: So that's why many reasons why we gravitated towards that.
- 2:08Speaker 1: But I think right now we're just kind of center
- 2:11Speaker 1: our ways in Austin.
- 2:12Speaker 2: And yeah, okay, I have a question before I get
- 2:16Speaker 2: into the list of questions I have. I was talking
- 2:18Speaker 2: about this with a friend, what natural disaster do you
- 2:21Speaker 2: think you can live through? Earthquakes? Fires? What are the
- 2:25Speaker 2: mall you first, Well, there's earthquakes, fires, What else are.
- 2:31Speaker 3: Uh, hurricanes, hurricane.
- 2:35Speaker 4: Lava, lava la?
- 2:40Speaker 3: Okay, okay, what do we think we could like?
- 2:45Speaker 4: What?
- 2:45Speaker 2: Everyone has to pick one, you know, because like North
- 2:49Speaker 2: Carolina hurricanes, Texas, Tonada's.
- 2:52Speaker 1: Well, I just feel like that the least fatal would
- 2:57Speaker 1: be an earthquake because there's different degrees to it.
- 3:00Speaker 4: Hmm, yeah, so earthquakes. I was gonna say earthquakes by far,
- 3:06Speaker 4: because like in California, I grew up in California, tons
- 3:08Speaker 4: of earthquakes all the time. They're like kind of a
- 3:10Speaker 4: natural occurrence. It doesn't like spook you too much until
- 3:14Speaker 4: they say, oh, the big one's coming. But I'd say.
- 3:16Speaker 3: I've never experienced up in Cana.
- 3:20Speaker 4: Probably the worst would be lava because.
- 3:24Speaker 1: The worst Yeah, I've never heard someone bring up lava
- 3:26Speaker 1: in this conversation. But fair point, I feel like lava
- 3:31Speaker 1: is just a thing, not a natural disaster.
- 3:35Speaker 4: Why would you say that?
- 3:37Speaker 1: Okay, So basically because it's like it's a volcano erupting,
- 3:40Speaker 1: that's a natural disaster, which leads to lava, so.
- 3:43Speaker 4: Okay, so we take it back volcano eruption, okay with lava.
- 3:47Speaker 2: Okay, so you have to pick one. You have to
- 3:49Speaker 2: pick one natural disaster and that's what you're sticking with
- 3:51Speaker 2: that we can live through. Yeah, and it is it earthquakes?
- 3:55Speaker 3: I feel like that's the least fatal, right or do
- 4:01Speaker 3: you want to My friends and I talk about this
- 4:03Speaker 3: all the time.
- 4:04Speaker 1: Or we can risk it and think that we could
- 4:07Speaker 1: live through lava.
- 4:10Speaker 4: We're not living through lava. Earth takes a great one
- 4:15Speaker 4: and I think hurricanes.
- 4:18Speaker 2: So okay, this settles it. North Carolina or California for
- 4:21Speaker 2: where you should live. Oh oh yeah, mm hmm.
- 4:29Speaker 3: Sit on that.
- 4:30Speaker 1: So you're saying we should move to California because they
- 4:33Speaker 1: have earthquakes. North Carolina had the hurricanes.
- 4:37Speaker 3: Guys, we're moving. It's a good game.
- 4:39Speaker 2: Where should we move? You know?
- 4:40Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 4:41Speaker 1: Zactis needs to become a billionaire before we moved California.
- 4:46Speaker 2: Okay, So let's chat about weddings. Do you guys have
- 4:50Speaker 2: a wedding update? Are you still eloping?
- 4:53Speaker 3: We are still eloping?
- 4:55Speaker 2: How small do you think it would be with an elopement? Literally,
- 4:58Speaker 2: there is in people that's amazing.
- 5:02Speaker 1: Yeah, very intimate, very personal, and that's it just fits
- 5:05Speaker 1: our personality so well.
- 5:07Speaker 3: And I feel like, you know, we.
- 5:08Speaker 1: Had the big contract, we had the big wedding venue,
- 5:11Speaker 1: the you know, the all of it was big, and
- 5:14Speaker 1: it was I think we were quoted like eighty k
- 5:16Speaker 1: for the wedding, and we had the contract in our
- 5:19Speaker 1: hands and it was like, this doesn't feel right. It
- 5:23Speaker 1: doesn't feel like us, like you know what I mean.
- 5:25Speaker 1: So we just kind of like looked at each other
- 5:27Speaker 1: and it was just like, you know what, let's not
- 5:29Speaker 1: sign this and just like take a step back. And
- 5:32Speaker 1: we ended up deciding on a looping And honestly, we
- 5:36Speaker 1: when did we think of the date, Like back in January,
- 5:39Speaker 1: we were like, hey, should we get married this day?
- 5:41Speaker 3: This makes sense? And we're like, yeah, let's do it.
- 5:44Speaker 1: Oh wow, And then it all just kind of fell
- 5:46Speaker 1: into place till it be pressure off.
- 5:49Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 5:49Speaker 2: Oh I can imagine. Would it be abroad or in
- 5:52Speaker 2: the States?
- 5:53Speaker 3: Austin?
- 5:54Speaker 2: Austin nice, We're staying in Austin, amazing. So you have
- 5:57Speaker 2: a date, you have a location.
- 5:58Speaker 1: Yeah, it's like thirty minutes away from our home. Our
- 6:00Speaker 1: family's flying in. It's gonna be an hour ceremony if that, yeah,
- 6:07Speaker 1: and call it a day, go for dinner.
- 6:09Speaker 2: That's amazing.
- 6:10Speaker 3: Yeah, very chill.
- 6:11Speaker 2: You guys are very smart someone who got mad a
- 6:13Speaker 2: year and a half ago.
- 6:15Speaker 3: That we keep hearing that it was a great day.
- 6:18Speaker 2: But it's just the cost, doesn't it's it's it's crazy.
- 6:22Speaker 2: But I do want to know who had more opinions
- 6:23Speaker 2: about the wedding vibe between the two of you, who
- 6:26Speaker 2: had more like opinions on the wedding, like the vibe
- 6:29Speaker 2: of the wedding like everything.
- 6:30Speaker 3: Me, yeah, yeah, me for sure.
- 6:33Speaker 1: Doak is so amazing. He was like, baby, if you
- 6:36Speaker 1: want the big wedding, let's do it. If you want
- 6:38Speaker 1: the small wedding, let's do it. You want to go
- 6:41Speaker 1: to Italy, We'll make it work. Like he's so amazing.
- 6:45Speaker 1: But I think, yeah, when it at the end of
- 6:49Speaker 1: the day, like the eloping just was just perfect for us,
- 6:52Speaker 1: and just it's our vibe and we're so like chill
- 6:56Speaker 1: and just like we don't need the limeline or anything
- 7:00Speaker 1: like that. We don't need like a big wedding, we
- 7:02Speaker 1: don't need the attention. We've had it and it's honestly,
- 7:05Speaker 1: this is just perfect. For us, and we're not telling
- 7:07Speaker 1: anybody the date because we just we want to just
- 7:10Speaker 1: like soak it in ourselves, Like I don't want anybody
- 7:13Speaker 1: to know until we're ready to like let people know
- 7:16Speaker 1: and we can share about it. But like.
- 7:29Speaker 2: I think that's why people are so drawn to you guys,
- 7:31Speaker 2: is because some people from this show are drawn to
- 7:35Speaker 2: that spotlight, you know, and drawn to the limelight and
- 7:38Speaker 2: drawn to whatever it may be. And you guys just
- 7:41Speaker 2: feel very real and natural and like natural as a
- 7:43Speaker 2: couple too. This is my only second time spending time
- 7:46Speaker 2: with you guys, but you guys do feel like real.
- 7:49Speaker 4: You know.
- 7:50Speaker 3: I appreciate that. We get that a lot too, and
- 7:52Speaker 3: it's such a huge compliment. Yeah.
- 7:55Speaker 4: Yeah. Like one thing like we always like focus on
- 7:58Speaker 4: is like what we did was crazy, what you've done
- 8:01Speaker 4: is crazy, Like we all lived through it. But what's
- 8:04Speaker 4: most important that we find for each other is like
- 8:06Speaker 4: all right, let's just let's focus on each other and
- 8:09Speaker 4: like that this all this extra stuff, it's it's so fun.
- 8:14Speaker 4: You never know like when it's gonna change, but like
- 8:17Speaker 4: what at the end of the day, that Kate's all
- 8:19Speaker 4: that matters, and like our relationship is all that matters,
- 8:22Speaker 4: and that kind of transpired into like how we view
- 8:25Speaker 4: when we get married. Just keep it simple and yeah
- 8:28Speaker 4: about our love. That's it in our family.
- 8:30Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 8:31Speaker 2: Yeah, that's like the healthiest approach that you can have.
- 8:35Speaker 2: And yeah, I'm just so happy for you.
- 8:37Speaker 3: Thank you. I appreciate that. We're so excited.
- 8:40Speaker 1: Like literally every day I'll look at him and I'll
- 8:42Speaker 1: be like, I cannot wait to marry you.
- 8:44Speaker 3: And I'm not even I'm not even lying. I literally
- 8:46Speaker 3: do it so probably more than once a day, no,
- 8:48Speaker 3: at least once.
- 8:51Speaker 1: Every time I look at him, I just like see
- 8:53Speaker 1: my husband in my future, I see everything, and I
- 8:55Speaker 1: just get so excited.
- 8:56Speaker 3: I just have to tell him, like, I cannot wait
- 8:58Speaker 3: to marry you.
- 9:01Speaker 4: Honestly, the best feeling when you're like, I'm marrying my
- 9:03Speaker 4: best friend. Yeah, and we're doing it the way we
- 9:07Speaker 4: want to do it, and we're having fun with it.
- 9:09Speaker 4: That's it.
- 9:10Speaker 3: That's right.
- 9:10Speaker 2: And it's been two years, right, two and a half
- 9:13Speaker 2: and a half and a half years. That's a really
- 9:15Speaker 2: good amount of time. And again, I don't know when
- 9:17Speaker 2: you're getting married, but that's that's a good amount of
- 9:18Speaker 2: time where you can really feel out the relationship outside
- 9:21Speaker 2: of the show too, Oh totally yeah.
- 9:23Speaker 4: Yeah, living together and all that good stuff.
- 9:25Speaker 3: Yeah, and we're buying our first home this year.
- 9:28Speaker 4: Yeah this year.
- 9:30Speaker 1: Yeah, we got to start house hunting. Audit to the
- 9:33Speaker 1: list of things.
- 9:35Speaker 4: Thank you.
- 9:36Speaker 2: Wedding planning and house hunting is a lot on your plate.
- 9:39Speaker 3: But that's crazy. Yeah, oh my god.
- 9:43Speaker 2: Well, okay back to the wedding. Are there any non
- 9:46Speaker 2: negotiables for the wedding, Yeah, for either of.
- 9:49Speaker 4: You, like things that need to happen.
- 9:54Speaker 2: Yeah, like I must have this or I can't have this,
- 9:58Speaker 2: or I don't know.
- 10:00Speaker 1: Honestly, Okay, not really, because like we were originally gonna
- 10:05Speaker 1: have a courthouse wedding, literally just go in, no videographer, nothing.
- 10:11Speaker 1: We were gonna go inside the paper and just like maybe.
- 10:14Speaker 3: Do like a family like some photos.
- 10:17Speaker 1: Here and there, and then go for dinner. And then
- 10:19Speaker 1: my mom was like, hey, have you thought about a
- 10:22Speaker 1: chapel And.
- 10:23Speaker 3: I was like no, no, no. And literally it wasn't
- 10:25Speaker 3: until like I want.
- 10:26Speaker 1: To say, four or three weeks ago where I was like,
- 10:34Speaker 1: wait a second, I think the chapels a great idea.
- 10:38Speaker 1: I want a videographer. I do want to document this.
- 10:42Speaker 1: And then it's kind of transpired into something bigger. But
- 10:44Speaker 1: to answer your question, there really isn't any because it
- 10:48Speaker 1: all started so yeah, we were just like we were
- 10:52Speaker 1: just gonna go to the courthouse. There was no floorals,
- 10:54Speaker 1: there was no big wedding dress, there was nothing. So
- 10:58Speaker 1: I mean we've just kind of worked our way up
- 11:00Speaker 1: to like make it a little bit more elevated in
- 11:03Speaker 1: a chapel setting. But like I'm not like, baby, we
- 11:07Speaker 1: need this. It's just kind of like, hey, does.
- 11:10Speaker 4: This sound like a fun idea or not? Or is
- 11:13Speaker 4: this like a dumb idea? And then we'll wait this,
- 11:15Speaker 4: we'll like spit it back and forth, and sometimes we'll
- 11:17Speaker 4: be like, yeah, I'm probably not worth it, or yeah
- 11:20Speaker 4: that's a good idea, let's run with it. But like overall,
- 11:23Speaker 4: it's a small.
- 11:24Speaker 3: It's so small.
- 11:25Speaker 1: But I will say I'm really adamant on getting like
- 11:29Speaker 1: a vintage car. Yeah, I really want like kind of
- 11:33Speaker 1: like old money vibes to it.
- 11:36Speaker 3: So I'm trying to like hone in on that. But yeah, like.
- 11:40Speaker 4: We're in a good like photographer and videographer just like
- 11:44Speaker 4: having that moment for life, like you want to look
- 11:47Speaker 4: back on that. Yeah, that isn't really important.
- 11:49Speaker 1: Yeah, so it's all like long winded answer, but like
- 11:52Speaker 1: it's all just kind of escalated a little bit.
- 11:54Speaker 3: But at the same time, it's like, no, not really,
- 11:57Speaker 3: it's seven people.
- 11:58Speaker 4: That's really something. So yeah, house wedding.
- 12:05Speaker 1: Yeah no, I mean there is really no non negotiables.
- 12:10Speaker 2: I'm really fascinated by this. Were you guys both like
- 12:13Speaker 2: growing up? Because I was, I don't know, obsessed with
- 12:17Speaker 2: princesses and like my wedding day obsessed over it. Did
- 12:20Speaker 2: you guys have that period of your life or not? Really?
- 12:23Speaker 1: I mean I always dreamed of like having a wedding,
- 12:27Speaker 1: and I think as I got older and since meeting Zach,
- 12:31Speaker 1: i'd like thought about more of like a wedding day.
- 12:34Speaker 1: But my mom never got married, so like I think
- 12:37Speaker 1: growing up, I was like, oh, like, you know, if
- 12:39Speaker 1: I get married, that's awesome. If it doesn't happen for me,
- 12:42Speaker 1: I know, I'll be okay. Like, I never really fantasized
- 12:45Speaker 1: about having a wedding. Honestly, what I fantasized about was
- 12:49Speaker 1: having a good man in my life, not an extravagant wedding,
- 12:54Speaker 1: nor like what my dress was going to look like.
- 12:56Speaker 1: But yeah, yeah, I never really for that.
- 13:02Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean I don't know, like I don't want
- 13:05Speaker 4: to like pun it off to like the typical I guess,
- 13:08Speaker 4: like maybe a typical guy answer, but it's like for me,
- 13:12Speaker 4: it no, Like I didn't ever think like, oh I
- 13:15Speaker 4: need to have a big wedding and et cetera. Like
- 13:17Speaker 4: for me, what was most important at the end of
- 13:18Speaker 4: the day is like the person I marry, the person
- 13:22Speaker 4: I want to wake up to every morning, Like that
- 13:24Speaker 4: matters so much more than like this day that costs
- 13:29Speaker 4: a lot of money. Like in my mind, like that
- 13:31Speaker 4: was like like a high priority. Was more like I
- 13:33Speaker 4: just want to find that person to where we make
- 13:36Speaker 4: it official and you know we're going to the end
- 13:38Speaker 4: of days with Yeah, so that's that was more important
- 13:42Speaker 4: than even thinking of like what kind of florals am
- 13:45Speaker 4: I going to have? Or was the color of my
- 13:47Speaker 4: suit or tucks? Like I never actually ever thought of that.
- 13:50Speaker 2: Yeah. Ever, the way that you guys talk about marriage
- 13:53Speaker 2: and like the wedding, not marriage. The wedding is so
- 13:58Speaker 2: impressive compared to I don't know, it's like people don't
- 14:00Speaker 2: talk about weddings or marriage or anything like the way
- 14:03Speaker 2: that you guys do. So it's really special because it's
- 14:05Speaker 2: so much focus on like, oh, the dress was really stressful,
- 14:08Speaker 2: the guest list was really stressful, and it's like stress, stress, stress,
- 14:11Speaker 2: and you guys feel very like calm and at peace.
- 14:13Speaker 1: Oh we are, And it's cause we're not, like you
- 14:15Speaker 1: said this perfectly the other day. It's like we aren't
- 14:18Speaker 1: doing this for other people. It's not like, hey, we
- 14:20Speaker 1: should get this type of catering because these people are
- 14:24Speaker 1: coming or you know what I mean.
- 14:25Speaker 3: It's not about that, like you know what I mean,
- 14:27Speaker 3: it's just like it's just for us. We're doing what
- 14:30Speaker 3: is for us exactly.
- 14:31Speaker 4: And like that's to say, like we did meet with
- 14:34Speaker 4: a planner, you know, months ago, and we went through
- 14:36Speaker 4: you know, a lot of the the loops to try
- 14:40Speaker 4: to figure out like what could this look like, and
- 14:42Speaker 4: we were seeing that stress that like you know a
- 14:44Speaker 4: lot of people go through, and we're like, we don't
- 14:46Speaker 4: need to do this because like at the end of
- 14:48Speaker 4: the day, it's not about that, And then we reminded ourselves, yeah,
- 14:51Speaker 4: what it is. Yeah, So.
- 14:54Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm so happy Dean isn't here. When you guys
- 14:57Speaker 2: are talking, I'm like, thank god, he's not here.
- 14:59Speaker 3: Because he'd be.
- 14:59Speaker 2: Like, we should have eloped.
- 15:01Speaker 3: This sounds so beautiful. Honestly, I'm really happy for you guys.
- 15:05Speaker 3: It's crazy how much money goes into that wedding industry.
- 15:07Speaker 3: It's insane.
- 15:09Speaker 2: Yeah, no, it's really disgusting, and you guys are so smart.
- 15:13Speaker 2: But seriously, like, I really do mean it. The way
- 15:15Speaker 2: that you guys speak about this, it's so beautiful and
- 15:17Speaker 2: that's what marriage should be and that's what a wedding
- 15:19Speaker 2: should be about. So I'm so excited.
- 15:21Speaker 3: Thank you, thank you. We're so excited, and.
- 15:24Speaker 2: Thank you guys for coming on the Almost Famous podcast
- 15:26Speaker 2: without Ben and Ashley. I really appreciate it.
- 15:28Speaker 3: Of course, thanks for having us
