- 0:00Welcome to the RedTech Daily Podcast, powered by artificial intelligence.
- 0:05I'm Marguerite Clark, bringing you the latest in radio and digital audio industries.
- 0:11Today, we'll explore WorldDAB research on radio's importance in cars, Sweden's 5G
- 0:16Broadcast tests, Radio.Cloud's new music scheduler, and collaborations between Grass
- 0:21Valley and Lawo.
- 0:22We'll also highlight CGI dira's modern approach and Jutel RadioMan's local content solutions.
- 0:31New research from the WorldDAB Automotive 2026 conference in Frankfurt highlights that
- 0:37broadcast radio remains the most popular audio source in cars.
- 0:42A survey of 8,000 adults across several countries, including Australia and the United
- 0:47Kingdom, found 83 percent listen to radio while driving.
- 0:52Additionally, 62 percent of car buyers view radio as essential, and 85 percent would miss
- 0:58it if removed.
- 1:00The study also shows positive attitudes toward DAB+, with 95 percent appreciating its use.
- 1:06Sweden's state-owned telecommunications company, Teracom, is testing 5G Broadcast
- 1:13technology in Stockholm to distribute radio and television services.
- 1:18This pilot project, running for at least two years, includes channels from public
- 1:22broadcasters SVT and Sveriges Radio.
- 1:25The initiative aims to demonstrate how 5G Broadcast can support media distribution,
- 1:31emergency communications, and other public-interest services with high resilience
- 1:36and security.
- 1:37By using existing infrastructure, the technology is touted as being cost-effective
- 1:42and accessible.
- 1:44Daniel Tisljarec, Teracom’s head of sales and innovation, highlights that 5G Broadcast does
- 1:50not require a subscription with an operator and can transmit both television and radio
- 1:54services, as well as important public announcements.
- 1:58This project follows similar initiatives in Asia, Europe, and the United States.
- 2:03With an uncertain global situation, Tisljarec emphasizes the need for technology that can
- 2:08reach everyone, even in times of crisis and war, making 5G Broadcast a critical investment
- 2:14for national preparedness.
- 2:16Radio.Cloud has unveiled Curator.Cloud, a cloud-based music scheduling platform tailored
- 2:24for modern radio workflows.
- 2:26Designed for program and music directors, it offers a browser-based interface for easy
- 2:31management of scheduling rules, categories, and rotations.
- 2:36At its core, an artificial intelligence-powered music analyzer evaluates songs across
- 2:41attributes like tempo, energy, mood, and key, enabling smarter scheduling decisions.
- 2:47Curator.Cloud can function as a standalone scheduler or integrate with existing systems,
- 2:54offering a seamless migration from platforms like MusicMaster.
- 3:00Grass Valley and Lawo are collaborating to validate interoperability between Grass
- 3:04Valley’s AMPP platform and Lawo’s HOME management platform.
- 3:10This initiative supports open media infrastructures and aims to demonstrate
- 3:14software-based platform integration.
- 3:17The project focuses on interoperability across orchestration, media transport, and security.
- 3:23It will explore use cases like multi-platform routing and media exchange.
- 3:28The collaboration helps customers modernize operations while maintaining flexibility in
- 3:33technology choices.
- 3:34CGI's dira OnAir Player is making waves in modern broadcasting with its versatile playout
- 3:42control capabilities.
- 3:44This tool stands out for its robust functionality and technical flexibility,
- 3:48streamlining on-air operations through reliable automation.
- 3:52It efficiently manages playlists, schedules advertisements, and optimizes content
- 3:57workflows.
- 3:59A standout feature is its extensive Web API, which allows integration with HTML5-based
- 4:05interfaces, enabling custom-designed control surfaces.
- 4:09This flexibility is particularly beneficial in specialized workflows like news production,
- 4:15enhancing usability and reducing complexity.
- 4:19The dira OnAir Player also supports remote studio control via mobile devices such as
- 4:24tablets and smartphones, offering broadcast operators the ability to manage and monitor
- 4:29studio operations flexibly and remotely.
- 4:32This enhances workflow versatility and operational responsiveness.
- 4:37With an open API architecture, it integrates seamlessly with diverse third-party systems and
- 4:43equipment.
- 4:44This adaptability makes it a future-proof solution for broadcasters, catering to both
- 4:49current and evolving broadcasting needs.
- 4:53Jutel's RadioMan offers a scalable solution for broadcasters aiming to deliver localized
- 4:58content efficiently.
- 5:01By integrating RadioMan automation with the Lamppu mobile app, broadcasters can manage
- 5:06regional content without additional infrastructure.
- 5:10This setup allows contributors to create live content remotely, with automated workflows
- 5:15ensuring continuity across multiple regional feeds.
- 5:20Centralized scheduling and mobile production workflows are key features, making it a
- 5:24practical choice for expanding regional output without increasing operational complexity.
