- 0:24Well, hello there, everyone, and welcome once again
- 0:27to the ever-popular Inspirations for Your Life
- 0:29show.
- 0:30It's great to be with you.
- 0:32This is a Friday.
- 0:33This is August 7, 2026, and Friday means
- 0:36that we're finishing up our master topic.
- 0:39Tomorrow is the 8th, and we'll be kicking
- 0:42off with a brand new master topic, which
- 0:44we'll take from Saturday all the way through
- 0:46the week, and we'll finish up on Friday,
- 0:48just like today.
- 0:49All right.
- 0:50So, if this is your very first time
- 0:52joining me, I'd like to take the opportunity
- 0:54to say thank you, and I'd like to
- 0:57say welcome.
- 1:00If you've been here one time, five times,
- 1:0310, 100, or maybe even more, I'd like
- 1:05to say welcome and thank you, but I'd
- 1:07also like to say the words welcome back.
- 1:10Yes, you are all very welcome here.
- 1:13Don't forget to check out BelieveMeAchieved.com after
- 1:16the show is over.
- 1:16You can do that 24 hours a day.
- 1:17Okay.
- 1:18Incidentally, I have my Aura water here, and
- 1:21I have a new water bottle, but I'm
- 1:23not sure I like it.
- 1:24I was looking for one that was going
- 1:26to be really cold, and I don't know.
- 1:30This one seems to be okay.
- 1:32I think I'm probably going to return it
- 1:33because it's just not the ice cold that
- 1:38I expected it to be.
- 1:41Yeah, so I'm probably going to be returning
- 1:44it.
- 1:45I know that I probably am not happy
- 1:49with just ...
- 1:50I really wanted something to be very, very
- 1:53cold.
- 1:55I mean, the bottle is very cold, don't
- 1:58get me wrong, but the whole thing is
- 2:01not very, very cold.
- 2:04So yeah, that's an interesting thing.
- 2:09They have other models and stuff like that
- 2:13on there, by the way.
- 2:14They have other stuff out there.
- 2:16So yeah, I don't know, guys.
- 2:19I've got to definitely look for something.
- 2:22I mean, I've seen some ...
- 2:23I like these really good tumblers that'll stay
- 2:27cold for a long time, but a lot
- 2:29of the ones I'm looking at, they don't.
- 2:33They don't stay cold very long.
- 2:37I see vacuum pack mugs and all kinds
- 2:39of stuff, but some of these are really
- 2:41big.
- 2:41They're not like the container size that I'm
- 2:45looking for.
- 2:47All right, guys.
- 2:48So let's get into the show.
- 2:50If you're thirsty, if you're hungry, like I
- 2:52was saying, don't feel free to go get
- 2:53one, either an RO water or what have
- 2:55you, and come on back to the show
- 2:57or another snack or candy, whether it's healthy
- 2:59or not, that's up to you.
- 3:02Let's kick off this show, all right?
- 3:03This is Inspirations for Your Life, and the
- 3:06master topic that we're wrapping up today is
- 3:08build a life that truly matters, series five,
- 3:11show 32, and today's granular is how to
- 3:14leave a legacy worth remembering, series five, show
- 3:1832, episode seven.
- 3:20This is Friday.
- 3:21Welcome, once again, ladies and gentlemen, to Inspirations
- 3:23for Your Life.
- 3:24I am John C.
- 3:25Morley, serial entrepreneur, engineer, marketing specialist, video producer,
- 3:33podcast host, coach, keynote speaker, graduate student at
- 3:38Montgomery State University, passionate lifelong learner, and so
- 3:42grateful now to be a published author.
- 3:45Welcome, everyone.
- 3:47Welcome.
- 3:48When we hear the word legacy, we often
- 3:51think about something far in the future, but
- 3:53legacy isn't created someday.
- 3:56You're building it right now through your choices,
- 4:00relationships, values, and the way you treat people.
- 4:05As we conclude, build a life that truly
- 4:08matters this week, let's explore 30 ways to
- 4:12create a legacy worth remembering.
- 4:14Are you ready, guys?
- 4:15I know I am.
- 4:16Number one, please live with purpose.
- 4:19Know what matters to you, and the important
- 4:23thing, ladies and gentlemen, is to allow it
- 4:25to guide your decisions.
- 4:28Purpose gives direction to your time, talents, and
- 4:32energy.
- 4:34Number two, choose kindness.
- 4:36This is a real important one.
- 4:38People may forget many details about you, but
- 4:41they'll remember how you made them feel.
- 4:45A small act of kindness can create an
- 4:47impact you may never see.
- 4:51Number three, lead with integrity.
- 4:54Integrity means your values remain intact even when
- 4:58nobody is watching.
- 5:01Do what's right because it's part of who
- 5:03you are.
- 5:05Number four, help others succeed.
- 5:09Help others succeed.
- 5:11I think that's an important one.
- 5:13Some people don't get that, but I think
- 5:19it's important to understand what that means for
- 5:21a lot of people.
- 5:24I think sometimes people, they get lost in
- 5:29the shuffle.
- 5:30They don't mean to get lost, but they
- 5:32get lost in the shuffle, and the shuffle
- 5:33is a problem for a lot of people.
- 5:38Number four, help others succeed.
- 5:40Success becomes more meaningful when you help someone
- 5:46else rise.
- 5:48Share opportunities, encouragement, knowledge, and support whenever you
- 5:54can.
- 5:55Number five, build meaningful relationships.
- 5:59Don't measure relationships by numbers.
- 6:03Focus on trust, connection, and being present for
- 6:07the people who genuinely matter.
- 6:12Number six, keep your promises.
- 6:15Your word matters.
- 6:17Every promise you keep strengthens trust.
- 6:21Be thoughtful about the commitments you make and
- 6:25dependable about honoring them.
- 6:29A lot of people miss that whole step.
- 6:31They don't mean to miss it, but they
- 6:33do miss it.
- 6:34I think that's something, again, that a lot
- 6:36of people, they don't really understand.
- 6:39They don't understand why maybe they're doing something
- 6:41or why something is a certain way.
- 6:44I think if we can realize why we're
- 6:47here and the purpose and what we're trying
- 6:48to do, I think that's a very important
- 6:54thing for us to understand.
- 6:58I say that in a way that hopefully
- 7:02makes a lot of sense to people.
- 7:08It means that we can do a lot,
- 7:12but sometimes people, they don't really understand.
- 7:19That might be something that causes you to,
- 7:24I don't know, to understand.
- 7:28Okay?
- 7:29That's the best way I can share that
- 7:31with you.
- 7:32Number seven, guys, stay humble.
- 7:34I can't express that enough.
- 7:37Achievement shouldn't eliminate your willingness to listen.
- 7:40Humility keeps you teachable and reminds you that
- 7:44everyone can teach you something if you're just
- 7:50open to learning.
- 7:52Learning for a lot of people is hard
- 7:55because they feel it puts their ego down,
- 7:58but we shouldn't even have that ego to
- 8:00begin with.
- 8:01We should all be trying to collaborate and
- 8:02work together.
- 8:03Number eight, share your wisdom.
- 8:05Your experiences have value.
- 8:07Share what you've learned so others can benefit
- 8:10from both your victories and your mistakes.
- 8:15Number nine, make every day count.
- 8:18Not every day needs to be extraordinary.
- 8:21Use each one intentionally and do something that
- 8:25moves your life or someone else's forward.
- 8:30Yeah.
- 8:32Do you move your life forward every day
- 8:34or do you help move someone else's life
- 8:36forward?
- 8:37I hope you do.
- 8:40Number 10, encourage growth.
- 8:43Sometimes people need someone else to see their
- 8:47potential before they recognize it themselves.
- 8:51Encourage them to discover what they're capable of
- 8:55becoming.
- 8:56Number 11, build trust.
- 8:59Trust develops through consistency.
- 9:02Be dependable, truthful, respectful, and authentic.
- 9:08Those three qualities create relationships, guys, capable of
- 9:14lasting.
- 9:16They're not superficial.
- 9:18They're not here to say, gee, what can
- 9:21you do for me?
- 9:22It's a win-win mentality that we're all
- 9:26trying to help each other.
- 9:27Number 12, stay authentic, guys.
- 9:30I know it might seem easy to just
- 9:32take the shortcut and be someone else, but
- 9:34that's not going to last.
- 9:36The relationship won't last.
- 9:38Don't build your life around impressing everyone else.
- 9:41Many do.
- 9:43Understand your values and have the courage to
- 9:47live according to them.
- 9:51Number 13, value your time.
- 9:54Time can't be replaced.
- 9:56Pay attention to where you invest it because
- 9:59your schedule often reveals what you truly consider
- 10:04important.
- 10:05Number 14, invest in people.
- 10:08Achievements matter, but people may become your greatest
- 10:13impact.
- 10:14Give them your full attention, encouragement, knowledge, and
- 10:19support.
- 10:21Number 15, stay resilient.
- 10:24Challenges will happen.
- 10:25Learn from them.
- 10:27Adjust to continue moving.
- 10:30Resilience demonstrates what people know is possible when
- 10:36circumstances become difficult.
- 10:38And again, difficult doesn't mean we can't do
- 10:40it, guys.
- 10:41Difficult just means that it's going to be
- 10:44something we'd have to learn.
- 10:47None of our things we do just happen
- 10:54or we're born with.
- 10:54We have to understand that we learn all
- 10:58this stuff when we're here on the world.
- 11:00We didn't get born with it.
- 11:02Number 16, continue learning.
- 11:05Never decide you know enough.
- 11:07I know I never know enough.
- 11:09I always can keep learning.
- 11:10Read, listen, ask questions, remain curious, and be
- 11:16willing to reconsider your assumptions when you learn
- 11:21something new.
- 11:22Always be willing to be a student, regardless
- 11:27of your age.
- 11:29Be willing to be a student.
- 11:33Are you willing to be a student right
- 11:35now, or are you just trying to fulfill
- 11:38an ego?
- 11:39If that's the case, I think that's a
- 11:41bad thing, guys.
- 11:43Very bad thing, right?
- 11:45Very bad thing.
- 11:46We have to understand what this truly is
- 11:51about.
- 11:55What it truly is about.
- 11:57If we don't understand that, then how do
- 11:59we ever move from point A to point
- 12:02B?
- 12:03How do we do that?
- 12:05Number 17, inspire through action.
- 12:09Words can motivate people, but actions give those
- 12:12words credibility.
- 12:14They give those words life.
- 12:16Demonstrate the standards and values you encourage others
- 12:20to follow.
- 12:24And I know you might be saying, well,
- 12:25John, I don't know what words.
- 12:26Don't worry about the exact words.
- 12:29Worry about the feelings and how you say
- 12:31them.
- 12:31The most important thing is how you say
- 12:37it.
- 12:38Number 18, build lasting habits.
- 12:41Your life is shaped by what you repeatedly
- 12:44do.
- 12:46Develop habits that support your health, relationships, character,
- 12:51goals, and your purpose.
- 12:55You see, your character is something that develops
- 12:58in your private life and in your public
- 13:01life.
- 13:02I think that comes down to us knowing
- 13:07one thing, and that is if we build
- 13:10character all the time the way we want
- 13:12it to be, it will always have a
- 13:16positive impact on us privately and publicly.
- 13:20Ladies and gentlemen, focus on significance.
- 13:23Success asks what you accomplished, right?
- 13:26We talked about this.
- 13:28Significance asks who benefited because you were here.
- 13:34Success is what you accomplished.
- 13:40Significance is who benefited because you were here.
- 13:43I'm going to use that, I think, in
- 13:44my welcoming talk on next Friday.
- 13:49Build a life that reaches beyond personal achievement,
- 13:52okay?
- 13:54Number 20, create positive influence.
- 13:57See, you're influencing people even when you don't
- 14:01realize it.
- 14:02Make that influence positive through your attitude, decisions,
- 14:06behavior, and example that you set.
- 14:10An example is something you don't set to
- 14:12impress somebody.
- 14:13You set an example so that you can
- 14:16become a better version of yourself and help
- 14:20others become a better version of yourself, okay?
- 14:26I think that's something that a lot of
- 14:28people, like, they just don't understand it.
- 14:35Why?
- 14:37Because, first of all, they're not humble.
- 14:43They're not humble.
- 14:47And when people aren't humble, they're not open
- 14:50to learning.
- 14:53They're always right, or maybe they're not right.
- 14:56Maybe they're trying to be right, but really,
- 14:58they just have that ego on them.
- 15:02The ego that nobody wants to be around,
- 15:06okay?
- 15:11That's something pretty interesting, right?
- 15:17That's something very, very interesting.
- 15:20Number 21, stay committed.
- 15:23I know it might seem easier to give
- 15:26up and to do something else, but no
- 15:29one ever gets to their goals by quitting.
- 15:34It's okay to take a pause, take a
- 15:38break, take a little siesta, pause the job,
- 15:41but it's not okay to give up completely.
- 15:45Now, if you've decided that this isn't the
- 15:47path you want to go and you want
- 15:49to redirect, I don't consider that quitting.
- 15:50I consider that redirecting your energies.
- 15:52Maybe the way you're going isn't the way
- 15:55you're meant to go, but I don't want
- 15:57you to give up just because something gets
- 15:58hard or something gets difficult or challenging.
- 16:02That's what I mean by quitting.
- 16:04Don't quit.
- 16:06So stay committed.
- 16:07Meaningful accomplishments take time.
- 16:11Don't abandon something simply because, well, progress becomes
- 16:15difficult or slower than expected.
- 16:19Number 22, leave people better than you found
- 16:22them.
- 16:23Try to leave people feeling respected, encouraged, stronger,
- 16:29or even more capable because they interacted with
- 16:32you.
- 16:33See, ladies and gentlemen, that's true legacy happening
- 16:36in real time, right?
- 16:39Legacy is just meaning that when you leave
- 16:42or when you come back, like that person
- 16:44remembers what you did.
- 16:46Number 23, build something meaningful.
- 16:50Again, not because you're trying to impress somebody.
- 16:52I want to repeat that.
- 16:53You're not building something because you're trying to
- 16:55impress somebody.
- 16:56You're building something because you want to make
- 16:58people feel better, because you want to be
- 17:01a better version of yourself, and you want
- 17:02others to become better versions of themselves, and
- 17:05you want them to carry that forward to
- 17:07other people.
- 17:07That's legacy.
- 17:09Build something meaningful, but build a business, family,
- 17:14organization, idea, a book, community, relationships, or mission
- 17:19whose value extends beyond the immediate recognition that
- 17:23you have for it right now.
- 17:25Ladies and gentlemen, number 24, think beyond yourself.
- 17:29I know that's hard.
- 17:30A lot of us say, well, gee, what
- 17:30am I going to get out of it?
- 17:32Some of life's greatest decisions aren't about what
- 17:34benefits you personally.
- 17:37Consider how your actions affect other people and
- 17:40future generations.
- 17:43That's really an important thing to think about.
- 17:46And that means if you have an ego,
- 17:49putting that ego on a shelf for a
- 17:50little while.
- 17:51Can you do that?
- 17:54I think that's a very important thing for
- 17:56us to understand.
- 17:59Okay, very, very important thing.
- 18:02Okay, very, very important.
- 18:04Number 25, celebrate others.
- 18:08Someone else's success doesn't diminish yours.
- 18:11We've said this before, but I want to
- 18:13highlight this.
- 18:13Again, recognize people when they accomplish something meaningful
- 18:18and genuinely celebrate their progress.
- 18:22Don't like, you know, back end it.
- 18:29Really be sincere in your praise, right?
- 18:35Don't do it because you're looking for something.
- 18:38Number 26, live intentionally.
- 18:41This is my favorite one.
- 18:42Please, ladies and gentlemen, no matter what crosses
- 18:45your path or who, don't allow your entire
- 18:48life to operate on autopilot.
- 18:50We've all done it.
- 18:52We have to be intentional in the moments.
- 18:54When I get intentional in my moments, even
- 18:57though the day goes by, I feel like
- 18:59I really accomplished something that day.
- 19:00I wasn't on autopilot.
- 19:02You can have some things that you do
- 19:03and check off a list, but don't do
- 19:05things autopilot, okay?
- 19:07Yes, you're going to brush your teeth and
- 19:08autopilot after you eat, right?
- 19:10Or something like that.
- 19:11You know, maybe you're going to wash your
- 19:13teeth like I do.
- 19:14That's autopilot.
- 19:14But the rest of your day doesn't have
- 19:15to be autopilot, okay?
- 19:18Maybe you're autopilot in the car.
- 19:19If something happens to protect yourself or loved
- 19:22ones, that's autopilot.
- 19:23I get that.
- 19:24Decide what deserves your attention now and make
- 19:28the choices aligned with who you want to
- 19:31become, even if that's not who you are
- 19:34at this very moment.
- 19:39And the problem with that is that a
- 19:41lot of people say, well, gee, John, I'm
- 19:42not where I want to be today.
- 19:44Okay, fine.
- 19:44You're not where you want to be today.
- 19:46It doesn't mean you need to be there
- 19:48tomorrow.
- 19:49What it does mean is that you've got
- 19:51to start picking intentional choices so you can
- 19:58be the person that you've always wanted to
- 20:00be, okay?
- 20:04That's the most important thing I can tell
- 20:06you, all right?
- 20:10I say that for you because it's an
- 20:14important thing, a very, very important thing.
- 20:21And maybe you're going to say to me,
- 20:23John, I don't know if that's really the
- 20:27best, but you'll believe it in time, not
- 20:34overnight, not overnight.
- 20:42And I think that's something, again, that a
- 20:44lot of people, they just don't understand it,
- 20:52all right?
- 20:53I think that's probably the most important thing
- 20:57that I can tell you is people just
- 21:00don't understand it.
- 21:04That's key, guys, okay?
- 21:09That's key.
- 21:12Number 27, grow every day.
- 21:15Growth doesn't require dramatic transformation.
- 21:19Learn something, improve a habit, or have a
- 21:23meaningful conversation with someone.
- 21:27Share a nicety with someone, hold a door
- 21:29for someone.
- 21:30Small progress accumulates.
- 21:33Number 28, your actions matter, guys, even if
- 21:37no one tells you they do.
- 21:39Never assume a small action doesn't count because
- 21:42it does.
- 21:44You may never know how deeply something you
- 21:47said, taught, created, or did affected another person.
- 21:52You made an impact.
- 21:54Number 29, great lives leave great legacy.
- 22:01A great life isn't necessarily famous.
- 22:05It is one lived with character, contribution, relationships,
- 22:09purpose, and genuine concern for others.
- 22:11Most of those can become famous, but they
- 22:13don't have to be.
- 22:17Number 30, guys, your legacy, if you choose
- 22:21it, will begin today.
- 22:24Don't wait until later, tomorrow, next week, next
- 22:28month, next quarter, next year.
- 22:33Don't wait.
- 22:35Decide how you want to be remembered.
- 22:38Start living those values now because today's choices
- 22:42become tomorrow's legacy.
- 22:48That's the power, guys.
- 22:50As we get ready to close this amazing
- 22:53week of build a life that truly matters,
- 22:56I want you all to remember something.
- 23:00You see, legacy isn't about having your name
- 23:04remembered by everyone.
- 23:06That's what they teach in the movies, but
- 23:08that's not what legacy truly is.
- 23:11It's about having your life matter to someone.
- 23:15It's about making a difference in someone's life
- 23:20if you could do it anonymously.
- 23:23See, it's the person you encouraged.
- 23:27It's the knowledge you shared, the promise you
- 23:33kept, the relationship you protected, the community you
- 23:41strengthened, and the example you set.
- 23:47Those are powerful things, guys.
- 23:50Very, very powerful things.
- 23:51You don't need to wait for a major
- 23:55accomplishment.
- 23:57No, you don't.
- 23:59You have opportunities right before you today to
- 24:04choose.
- 24:05What are they?
- 24:07Kindness, demonstrate integrity, invest in people, continue learning,
- 24:15and create something meaningful right now.
- 24:19Meaning doesn't have to be worth $10 billion,
- 24:24okay?
- 24:26It doesn't.
- 24:28It has to be about what's important to
- 24:33you, right?
- 24:37I think those are the things that most
- 24:39people forget in life.
- 24:41They forget that power and things that we
- 24:45do are powerful, but we need to appreciate
- 24:51what we're doing, right?
- 24:57And then we can choose the path that
- 25:01we want to take, right?
- 25:06We can choose that path, and we can
- 25:09go somewhere.
- 25:13We can actually go somewhere.
- 25:14I think those are probably some of the
- 25:17most important things I can tell you, that
- 25:20you can go somewhere and you can make
- 25:21a difference in your life.
- 25:26Have you thought about what impact does for
- 25:29you?
- 25:30I mean, have you, or maybe you haven't,
- 25:31I don't know.
- 25:36Maybe you're thinking about the fact that impact
- 25:41is something most people say is overrated.
- 25:47It's not overrated, guys.
- 25:49It's not overrated.
- 25:52But the reason people downplay impact is because
- 25:57they don't do what's right when it gets
- 26:02hard.
- 26:05They don't do what's right when it gets
- 26:07hard, so they don't get the results they
- 26:10want, so they think, oh, this is just
- 26:11a waste of my time.
- 26:14Ladies and gentlemen, I'm John C.
- 26:16Morley, serial entrepreneur, as you guys know, and
- 26:20I thank you so much for choosing to
- 26:23join me for another amazing episode of Inspirations
- 26:26For Your Life.
- 26:26This has been a very great week, and
- 26:31I think we've learned a lot.
- 26:33But ladies and gentlemen, don't spend your life
- 26:35simply trying to be remembered.
- 26:38Spend it giving people something meaningful to remember.
- 26:44It could be a compassionate gesture, a thank
- 26:48you, see your actions, ladies and gentlemen, they
- 26:52matter.
- 26:53Your influence matters, too, in case you didn't
- 26:56know that.
- 26:57Matters, too.
- 26:58And your legacy begins today.
- 27:04The question I have for all of you
- 27:06is, why are you waiting for your legacy?
- 27:12Why are you saying, I've got to wait
- 27:14till tomorrow?
- 27:16Why are you letting other people in your
- 27:19life get in the way of you building
- 27:24a life that can impact others?
- 27:29People calling you names, people saying to you
- 27:34that you can't do that because you're not
- 27:35doing it for me, that's jealousy.
- 27:40So I want you all to think today
- 27:42or tonight, what can you do to be
- 27:46impactful in this world?
- 27:48Is it doing something in charity?
- 27:52Is it spending time with loved ones?
- 27:55What can you do to make it special,
- 27:57make yourself remembered?
- 28:00Have yourself a great rest of your day
- 28:01or evening.
- 28:02I'll catch you on a brand new master
- 28:03topic tomorrow.
- 28:04Take care, everyone.
