- 0:00Here we are, new podcast, new studio set up for the first
- 0:03time. It's still not, I wouldn't say
- 0:06100% finished. And generally we'll probably
- 0:08have a cool something playing on the screen, maybe a aesthetic
- 0:11loop and a couple signs, but for the most part, pretty much done.
- 0:17You mostly spearheaded this bad boy.
- 0:19And there's also another wall to film on here and another wall
- 0:24here. You can see a little bit in the
- 0:26shot, but we're going to get a little more creative with our
- 0:29camera shots and stuff in the future as far as the podcast as
- 0:34well as things filmed indoors. So this is a good start.
- 0:39What do you think? You're pretty stoked on it.
- 0:40Yeah, I think it's coming along. Excited for when the you know,
- 0:45boning sending a neon sign Badlands is sending a neon sign.
- 0:52So you know got to incorporate those in either here or this
- 0:55other wall that we did. So we kind of have options to
- 0:59choose from depending on you know, the the topic of the pod,
- 1:02the style of the pod, you know just shorts and videos and
- 1:06things in general. You know, you have some more
- 1:10aesthetic choices in here, so because some decor and shelves
- 1:14that we need to selectively choose as we go.
- 1:17But you know, I wanted to be intentional with where we place
- 1:22things with such a small space so that, you know, if we are
- 1:26doing things like today where we want to show off gear, like is
- 1:29there a stand or something somewhere we can put on things
- 1:31like that? So it's getting there, the
- 1:34overall look and styles come along immensely, but still
- 1:39little little decorative touches to go that are so useful and
- 1:43purposeful. So I enjoy how far it has come
- 1:48from some white walls and a couch in the past.
- 1:52Yeah, it's nice. I like the swivel chairs as
- 1:54well. I think it is nice to be able
- 1:57to. Move.
- 1:57These are one of my favorite finds.
- 1:58Move around a little bit and yeah, I'm excited for the new
- 2:02space. I think it'll be good.
- 2:03But as Brianna prefaced, we are going to be talking about gear
- 2:08today. We just went on a pretty long
- 2:10hunt in August and September and then Brianna's leaving for a
- 2:14hunt tomorrow, flies out tomorrow for a 10 day trip and
- 2:19then I'll probably have a couple hunts in November and then at
- 2:23the end of November, early December and then roll in
- 2:25January. So a lot of hunts coming up and
- 2:28we've thought it would be good to talk about some of the gear
- 2:30that has been in our arsenal that we've been enjoying.
- 2:34But we did also before we get to that, we did just shot a
- 2:37tournament, a long day, 42 targets, 2 arrows per 84 shots,
- 2:44hour and a half drive there, two hours back.
- 2:47So long day. You were pretty cooked out there
- 2:51and you were you were just the film guy slash photographer
- 2:53today. How did how did that go?
- 2:55I think it went well. I definitely needed to save my
- 2:58arm and shooting 84 targets was not going to do that.
- 3:03So I, I volunteered to be camera lady today and I think it went
- 3:08well. Our group started large and then
- 3:11dwindled as people needed to leave for other things because
- 3:14of how long this shoot is and the turn out for it.
- 3:18I mean, it's just it the, the lines don't move.
- 3:21I mean, they're not reading lines, but they don't move fast.
- 3:24So it takes a while to get to the next target and the next and
- 3:29the next. So, but it was fun.
- 3:32It was fun. I love the venue.
- 3:35I was so impressed with, I was so impressed with the amount of
- 3:38people that showed up because to me it's I love seeing people
- 3:42shooting archery, having fun. And today you saw people of all
- 3:47ages out shooting, having fun, being competitive, taking it
- 3:51serious. It was awesome.
- 3:53So shout out to Oronko. I hadn't been in a few years.
- 3:56Last time we went, we got disqualified twice from the same
- 4:00shoot. Only time I've ever been in
- 4:02trouble at a shoot. But we had some, I think some
- 4:05people out to get us that day. But that's why I've been in a
- 4:07few years. But it was awesome, clean,
- 4:10really nice. Everyone was super cool and like
- 4:14you said, our shooting in our group was very good.
- 4:17Like everyone was really good. So stay tuned for that full
- 4:21video probably next Sunday for that.
- 4:23So definitely stay tuned. It'll probably be long, but be a
- 4:26be a good video. And then, yeah, the video with
- 4:30Ethan came out today in Nebraska.
- 4:32It's a fun one too. But yeah, let's hop into gear.
- 4:35So before we talk about gear, I want to just preface that if
- 4:41y'all are, most of this gear is going to be Badlands.
- 4:44Almost all of it, right? And I only picked a handful of
- 4:49items that I really like. I have a lot more gear from
- 4:51them, but these are like my staples, right?
- 4:53I picked like 5. Any of these pieces we talked
- 4:57about including like these cops or whatever you want on their
- 5:00website. The whole website to my
- 5:02knowledge, is 20% off with code team BD at checkout.
- 5:08So that's huge, huge savings. And Badlands gear is not cheap,
- 5:13but it's not as expensive as some of the others and you're
- 5:15saving 20%. So keep that in mind.
- 5:17Team BD and let's go item by item.
- 5:20You have like, do you have like 3 three to five things that.
- 5:24They're awesome as I go. OK.
- 5:26I'll start with one and then you can talk about one.
- 5:28But like for me, my list kind of kept growing as I knew we were
- 5:31going to do this video. But First things first is this
- 5:35especially for tournaments would be this harness.
- 5:38So this one's called the X2. And what I really am liking
- 5:43about the X2, much like a marsupial is I like how it has
- 5:47the storage on the sides for your winding dust pencils for
- 5:50tournaments, which is big, a little tool, you know, a little
- 5:53multi tool Allen wrench kit fits in there perfect.
- 5:57I will say the range Finder harness, not my favorite.
- 6:00It's got a clip rather than a magnet.
- 6:02It folds back. It's not a super expensive add
- 6:04on, but they do make a magnetic one, which is right here.
- 6:07So I would try, I would go with the magnetic one as well.
- 6:10I'm a cheap bastard, so I tried the clip.
- 6:12I would go the magnetic. So there you go.
- 6:15One thing that's also cool, I don't generally carry a gun or
- 6:18ever, but if you wanted to is actually, I don't even know, a
- 6:20little Easter egg of a gun compartment in the back here and
- 6:24then plenty of room for binos. These are the Bushnell 10's and
- 6:28you can see I have plenty of room in here.
- 6:32Like these can probably be fourteens and fit so magnetic
- 6:35fully enclosed. I really, really like this, and
- 6:38I'm going to like it even more with the magnetic.
- 6:40Well, the one thing I'll think. This is the X2 harness.
- 6:43Think it comes in five, five colors.
- 6:46I think maybe two or three camo patterns and two or three
- 6:48solids. I obviously went to solid.
- 6:50I think it's called the mud. But anyway, yeah, check it out.
- 6:54Yeah. I think like a lot of vinyl
- 6:55harnesses have all those similar or same features that that has.
- 6:59But the one thing that I think I like the most when you wear
- 7:04that, that I noticed the difference in that and say mine
- 7:07is not all like the little amenities and things, but it is
- 7:11those straps. Those are what makes that very
- 7:16different from a lot of other binal harnesses.
- 7:19So most just run the adjustable, you know, strap just like what's
- 7:23on your backpack and that's what's going across your back
- 7:26and over your shoulders and traps.
- 7:28And those some people might say, Oh well wouldn't you get hot and
- 7:31whatnot. But like the amount of
- 7:33ventilation that is built into the those even though it looks
- 7:37wide. You can see right here like it's
- 7:39got, you know, like the perforated stuff.
- 7:41And and I will say this, I mean, I wore no buy no harness my
- 7:45whole life. And just recently I started for
- 7:47tournaments, which is a game changer for sure.
- 7:50Even when I'm like filming slash guiding as a hunter, I like to
- 7:54wear it If I'm just spot and stocking myself.
- 7:57It's hit or miss, right, whether I would like to wear it.
- 8:00But I wore the marsupial was the first one I ever wore.
- 8:02And then this Badlands pack. I like the the harness, the
- 8:07binocular harness itself, not the rain fighter pouch, but the
- 8:10the harness. Better on the Badlands than the
- 8:13marsupial for sure. No, I don't like the range
- 8:16Finder pouch as much, but this one I'm already looking at it
- 8:19opens. This mine opens to you, so it
- 8:23opens in which is I think really goofy.
- 8:26This one actually opens away. 1000 persons.
- 8:28So this is way better. So I I can't.
- 8:30Say a hard casing, you know it's.
- 8:32A hard case so I can't say yet. I may like this better too, but
- 8:35I'm really happy with this X2 pack.
- 8:38I think it looks clean. It's slim.
- 8:40Some of them are so huge and round.
- 8:42I prefer the more squared look. So anyways, the X2 vinyl pack,
- 8:46that's my first thing. All right.
- 8:48What you got in your cookie jar over there?
- 8:50Let's see, let's take a let's take a gander.
- 8:57Oh, we'll go with these. I got to open it because I
- 9:01requested these because you had them and I wanted them, so I
- 9:09did. I sure do.
- 9:10I know a lot of people will harp on like how they don't make fit,
- 9:13like people don't make things for women specifically when, but
- 9:16when it comes to certain things like I'm not saying you you
- 9:20can't show off your body and I'm not saying you don't want to
- 9:23look physically pleasing and you also don't want to be
- 9:25uncomfortable. There's things like that that
- 9:27you do need to take those things into consideration.
- 9:29IE for me, that's things like pants, but things like shirts I
- 9:34prefer. I do not enjoy women's cuts
- 9:36because I don't want that stuff to go like this, which most like
- 9:39this, which most women's cuts do.
- 9:42And the more clothes stick to me, especially once I start
- 9:46sweating, the more irritated I get.
- 9:48So as soon as you got these T-shirts, I was like, I am in.
- 9:55I want this for in every color so.
- 9:57Called again. This one is hold on the end dare
- 10:02the reason you're not going to see this unless I close up it to
- 10:05you. But all of these tiny little
- 10:07holes in the shirt are essentially A perforation.
- 10:11Like this is the thinnest shirt I have ever seen in my whole
- 10:16life. If if you're hunting desert or
- 10:18hot terrain or, you know, it's sunny, yeah, it's really, really
- 10:23good. I will say I did like cat claw
- 10:25does tear this up for sure. It it, it does get tore up, I
- 10:29think more than some of the other materials I've worn, but
- 10:32it's definitely. It's so thin.
- 10:34Yeah, so. Yeah, it's thin and those holes,
- 10:36the way it is stitched would allow for more, more snag to
- 10:41happen. So that is your downside to it.
- 10:43But again, like. I would.
- 10:47Rather replace my shirt every two to three years.
- 10:50Like a snag is not going to make me throw the shirt in the
- 10:52garbage, but I'd rather be cool. I also like that they come in a
- 10:56short sleeve option like you have here.
- 10:58That's really cool. So I mean, we hunt a lot of, you
- 11:00know, we live in California and we hunt a lot of desert.
- 11:03So for us, a lot of warm weather we're hunting in and it's nice
- 11:07to have clothes that are cool. So I very much agree with that.
- 11:10This is another one. This is the.
- 11:12I was hoping they had the weight of the shirt on here but they do
- 11:14not. It's light as shit, but this
- 11:16here is more of a tax slash 3D item rather than hunting.
- 11:22I suppose you could use it on stocks or something like that,
- 11:25which actually probably wouldn't be a bad idea, but this Fanny
- 11:28pack for me. Absolute game changer for 3DS.
- 11:32I can fit check this out. I for me it's really important
- 11:37to stay hydrated when I'm competing and I can fit an
- 11:39entire Nalgene in here. I could probably fit 2.
- 11:42I got a coke can. I got multiple snacks and all of
- 11:46it fits no problem. And I wear it when I'm walking
- 11:49around I'll wear it on the back, but when I need a drink or a
- 11:52snack, I can just rotate it around.
- 11:54Bam, grab your snack. And if I'm manning the camera,
- 11:58which I wasn't today, I can fit the camera right in there as
- 12:01well. So again, more of a tournament
- 12:05thing, but if if by chance you wanted to wear this spot in
- 12:08stocking, you definitely could and you could keep your lot of
- 12:12your goods here. But the vinyl harness sort of
- 12:14already does that. So but anyway, tournaments.
- 12:16I love the Fanny. Pack and then yay or nay to
- 12:19them. They have the.
- 12:21Obviously you see how it comes with all of the.
- 12:24You can't attach more. I'm running at raw dog right now
- 12:27but there is like side pouches that I don't even use so you
- 12:29could use those. There is some.
- 12:32And if you wanted an inner pocket water bottle holder, you
- 12:35can. Yeah.
- 12:35And then there's inner pocket. So there's like plenty of
- 12:37options. At first I thought it was way
- 12:39too big, but over time I the size is fine.
- 12:43I like that it's big. So that's the last one that I'm
- 12:47going to talk about that's not totally hunting gear specific.
- 12:52But. Is.
- 12:55That Oh, that's a backpack. And it's nice because we get to
- 12:58try a lot of this stuff and can tell you guys what are our
- 13:01personal favorites because like I said, there's a lot of gear
- 13:05skews on badlandsgear.com. And if you're able to watch this
- 13:10and say, oh, well, James and Brianna's favorite items are
- 13:12these five, you know, it at least gives you a starting point
- 13:15than having to work your way through the entire website.
- 13:18So I think that's kind of cool and why we wanted to do this
- 13:21podcast. It's not meant to be a sales
- 13:23pitch in any way, but we never have really talked about gear,
- 13:27so we figured it would be a good time to do so while we're right
- 13:30in the middle of hunting season. Did you bring my favorite shirt
- 13:33long sleeve? Yeah, I did actually.
- 13:35So this is one of both of our favorite shirts.
- 13:38This one here is called the Quarter zip hoodie.
- 13:41So it actually is very thin. It's a little thicker than the
- 13:44Andair, but it's kind of like a sun shirt material, I would call
- 13:49it. And it actually has a built in
- 13:52hood and face mask in the shirt. So and you can zip it all the
- 13:56way up. So I mean, when you are walking
- 13:58around and say you're sitting, you know, a little ground spot
- 14:02waiting for something to come by, you can pull this thing up.
- 14:04You're totally out of the sun and your face is covered all the
- 14:07way up to here. So the camo was freaking
- 14:09perfect. So yeah, this is one of both of
- 14:12our favorites. I believe it's called the
- 14:13quarter zip hoodie or draw hoodie, something like that.
- 14:16Definitely check this one out, top of my list.
- 14:19Yeah, it comes in two different. It's got a sun one which is blue
- 14:24on the inside. It's it's got a different
- 14:27material, so it's like more of a lighter color inside and then
- 14:30there's this one that has a different name.
- 14:32Just look on the website when you're checking it out.
- 14:34This one is camo on the inside entirely, so check it out.
- 14:38But yeah, this is one of both of our favorites.
- 14:40Yeah. And then obviously the actual.
- 14:43So again you had this one, they didn't have it in a women.
- 14:46So when that we ordered our first placement, I wanted to be
- 14:51sure that, you know, whatever size it was on you looked like
- 14:55it fit. So I thought, you know, small
- 14:57would fit on me. And then I went through and
- 14:59checked what they had in smalls. And so this was the sun hoodie
- 15:04that you have in black only. And I I ordered in green so I
- 15:09can actually still use it for hunting because I don't mind
- 15:12solids at all for hunting. And it's again, that same like
- 15:18it's not see through if you just look at the shirt, if you're to
- 15:20really stretch it out, looking inside through, I can see
- 15:25through. That's how light these things
- 15:26are. I also like that this isn't like
- 15:30a material and a sun shirt that like makes a bunch of noise.
- 15:33It's almost looks like it's got this like quilted stitched
- 15:36pattern to it. But the only difference in the
- 15:39sun hoodie pretty much and the hunting hoodies is they don't
- 15:44come with the face masks in them.
- 15:47So you can choose to wear this just going fishing, you can
- 15:51choose to wear this hunting. You can.
- 15:53They do have it in black, which I love because whenever you sit
- 15:57in a blind, inevitably you want to wear black.
- 16:00And then you're like, oh, I never packed black.
- 16:02When I go hunting, you get the Black Sun shirt because then you
- 16:06think, oh, let me put a black sweatshirt on when I go and it's
- 16:09105° inside your blind, you're baking.
- 16:12Yeah, black would black would not have been my first choice
- 16:15for a sun shirt, but at the time it was the only one in my size,
- 16:19so I gave it a try but and you're.
- 16:21How nice is it in a blind? In a blind, it's perfect.
- 16:23I mean, it's kind of counterintuitive, I think, to
- 16:25wear like if it's sunny out and it's hot and you're trying to
- 16:28cool down, to wear black. But in a blind it is.
- 16:31Perfect argument against that though, that you're supposed to.
- 16:34I don't think so, not that I'm aware of anyway.
- 16:37Moving on. OK, this one here.
- 16:40All right, most of these I'm going to be talking about are
- 16:42kind of for Western style hunting because that's primarily
- 16:45what I do, not super cold weather, but I do hunt cold
- 16:48somewhat often. And for that, this friggin cert
- 16:53jacket is amazing. This sucker is so warm and it's
- 16:58also not bulky. So when I wear this, a lot of
- 17:02cold weather gear is really, really bulky.
- 17:04This is not I can shoot in it just fine, no contact problems
- 17:08with the bow. That's also a form thing.
- 17:10But but yeah, it's it's not bulky and it's super quiet.
- 17:14I mean, I'm like it's not loud trying to make noises things not
- 17:18loud. So cert jacket again, not when I
- 17:22use a ton, but if I'm glassing and it's super cold and I'm
- 17:25sitting there for hours, this sucker or sit in a tree, stand
- 17:31anywhere it's cold. This, this is definitely one of
- 17:33my stand out pieces. Absolutely.
- 17:35It's a cert jacket. Yeah.
- 17:36And then I ordered that. Camo or solids as well.
- 17:40I have I believe it's called the mud color I think or Gray.
- 17:43So stone something like that. But anyway.
- 17:45Don't I believe it. Then they I have the Golder
- 17:48Tanner version of it kind of looks like a coyote tan.
- 17:53And again, that jacket fits me perfectly.
- 17:55And I will say that's one of probably my warmest jackets I've
- 17:59ever owned. I do like that they swivel, but
- 18:01like I can't touch the ground all the time because I like to
- 18:03put my feet in the chair. So then I just like, see ya.
- 18:09Do you have another piece or do you want me to move forward?
- 18:12Because I I. Selected.
- 18:14Well, you are more organized than me, so you go ahead and I
- 18:17will continue all. Right, this one, we need to pay
- 18:19attention because this is my number one favorite item from
- 18:26Badlands, OK and I am very, very picky with pants because I'm
- 18:32very rough on them. I tear shit up crazy while
- 18:36hunting because I go hunting for a very long period of time and
- 18:39we go hard. You know what I'm saying?
- 18:41So these pants are, I intentionally wore my most beat
- 18:46up pair and these have a fully freaking reinforced butt, which
- 18:53is nice because I spend a lot of time glassing on rocks.
- 18:57So sitting on rocks that are really, really sharp in the
- 18:59desert and there is a tear here, but it's just a small one and
- 19:03it's only through the protective layer, not through the actual
- 19:06pants. And I have a couple years on
- 19:08these, right? Really pounding them.
- 19:10These have blood stains all over them.
- 19:12Here's the other cool part. They have built in reinforced
- 19:16knee pads or knee protection that also has removable pads
- 19:22that you can put in or out. Usually I run them out because I
- 19:26get better air flow through my knees so my legs don't get so
- 19:29hot. But you can carry these in your
- 19:31pack. They're super light, and then
- 19:33you can toss them in. And if you're crawling or doing
- 19:35a stalk through the desert, those knee pads are a freaking
- 19:38lifesaver. And they pop in and out super,
- 19:40super quick and easy. So that's really nice.
- 19:42These pants, by the way, are called the Honor pants.
- 19:45Like I said, the toughest pants I've worn.
- 19:47And I've tried Kuyu, I've tried Under Armour, I've tried
- 19:51Badlands, I've tried many other brands and I tear the shit out
- 19:55of all of them. These I've torn the shit out of
- 19:58also, but less than the other ones.
- 20:00Yeah, so I really like these. My one complaint, What I I would
- 20:04say they're a little bit hot, maybe for most.
- 20:07Warmer weather hunting, little bit hot and I do think they're a
- 20:11touch noisy. Now over time they've gotten a
- 20:14little quieter as I've had more washes and kind of worn them
- 20:16down more. But I intentionally chose for
- 20:18this my most beat up pair and I don't know how much it shows on
- 20:21the camera, but like the friggin emblem coming on pants, Yeah,
- 20:25they're beat to shit, right? Like these are really beat.
- 20:27And I've done a couple of seasons on these and normally
- 20:29the pants I would have a hole that big in my ass.
- 20:32So shout out to Badlands honor pants.
- 20:35I wear a 32 and they fit really well, which is what I wear and
- 20:39everything else. So they seem to size really
- 20:41true. One weird little Easter egg is
- 20:44they have these like soft buttons on only this set of
- 20:49pants. And I don't know what that's
- 20:52for. So if you know, go ahead and
- 20:53message me. But yeah, honor pants,
- 20:55fantastic. If you're going to get one item
- 20:57from this, have it be these. They're fire.
- 21:02OK, All right. What do you got?
- 21:04So I pulled this one out because I have it in there, but in again
- 21:08that coyote tan color and obviously I'm going on a
- 21:11pheasant hunt which requires orange, so I had them send some
- 21:16blaze orange stuff. So this is the women's flex half
- 21:19zip hoodie. Great.
- 21:21And that's the one I showed earlier but the in orange great
- 21:25hoodie. You showed earlier.
- 21:26Yeah, I have one right there. Yeah, that that Sun shirt.
- 21:31Yeah, no, that's not this. Oh, OK, no, pretty sure it is.
- 21:36Oh. That one has a hood.
- 21:39Oh, that one doesn't have a face mask.
- 21:41This is much thicker. Oh, I got it.
- 21:42Let me feel it. Let me.
- 21:43Feel it? Yeah.
- 21:44Feel the inside. This is for cold weather.
- 21:46I got you. That's for hot weather.
- 21:48Similar, yeah, similar for cut and fit, but OK, I got.
- 21:51You. Yes, so bad.
- 21:52Guys, I was a cock. I.
- 21:54Was I was a cock? Yeah.
- 21:55Anyway, TDD 20%. Keep that in mind.
- 21:58I don't think we can have the. I don't think so anymore.
- 22:01He does. It's very much so irritating me
- 22:03that he's standing in front of the camera the entire time,
- 22:06pacing, looking for attention because he can't get on the
- 22:08couch anymore. Well, anyways, guys, let's give
- 22:11to support Al Bess. He's a emotional support dog.
- 22:14So to support him, go ahead and subscribe to the podcast on
- 22:17YouTube, five stars on Spotify and Apple and be sure when you
- 22:20go buy your Badlands gear after this for you and the wifey use
- 22:25code team B 20%. Yeah, except right now he needs
- 22:28the emotional support. I know, that's why you have to
- 22:30subscribe to the channel. Anyway, so this is the women's
- 22:34flex half zip hoodie and if you have ever wanted a layer where
- 22:42you don't need to wear a base layer with a mid jacket with an
- 22:47oversized jacket, this has been the hoodie for that.
- 22:54So number one is it has a full all the way through kangaroo
- 22:59pocket, which I am a big fan of because when it comes to keeping
- 23:03your hands warm, there's nothing better than having a kangaroo
- 23:06pocket. Secondly, is this like waffled
- 23:11material that is on the inside that's this like fuzzy stuff.
- 23:16I don't even know. I don't even know what it is.
- 23:19Does it tell me it's fleece? That's why it's fleece, but it's
- 23:25called vertical drop fleece and those kangaroo pocket.
- 23:29And I'll be freaking out again, Yeah.
- 23:32The dog's a big distraction. He is, yeah.
- 23:34Why do you why do you think you're so distracted?
- 23:36Because it keeps getting up and down and up and down.
- 23:38Then I keep listening to his nails.
- 23:39It's it's it's bothering me immensely.
- 23:42I'll be sit down. Nobody's feeding you, leaving
- 23:44you, treating you poorly on a. Scale of 1 to 10.
- 23:48How excited are you for your trip tomorrow?
- 23:50I'm very. Excited.
- 23:52It's going to be so peaceful. It's going to be so peaceful.
- 23:54Unlike what Alby's being right now.
- 23:58To be fair, he was home alone all day, so he's being
- 24:00exceptionally needy right now. Like, do you see this posture?
- 24:05What is this? Is very proper.
- 24:06You look good bud. All right, so.
- 24:09So anyways, the fleece on the inside of this, if you just put
- 24:12one base layer long sleeve shirt underneath this, you do not need
- 24:15a second jacket I. Mean depending.
- 24:18On how cold it is, depending on how cold it is, But if you do,
- 24:24you just throw a jacket on and then you take that off, put in
- 24:26your backpack and you can leave this on.
- 24:31So I don't know. This is just probably a jacket.
- 24:35Oh, the phone. The thing you like is the phone
- 24:36holster thing on a lot of shirts, which it does have the
- 24:39phone pocket. Oh, I do like that.
- 24:41I do like that. I never use the phone pocket,
- 24:43ironically, but it has one. But this is just the jacket that
- 24:49I wore the most, like on an all day basis when it was a cool
- 24:53day, and then would just throw on that big puffy one in the
- 24:57mornings. And then by the time the sun
- 24:59came up, I took that off and just left this thing on, but in
- 25:02the coyote color. So this I'm looking forward to
- 25:05in South Dakota in the mornings because basically I can just
- 25:09leave this on for the entirety of the hunt.
- 25:11And here's my blaze orange instead of needing a vest.
- 25:15All right, the last item I'm going to get to like I said, I
- 25:19didn't choose many. I have a lot more, but I'm I'm
- 25:21really trying to just give you guys the the golden Nuggets
- 25:23because I am a cheap, cheap bastard.
- 25:27So I don't like to buy. I don't like to spend money on
- 25:31anything. All right, so I don't want to
- 25:33tell you I'll go get these items if they're ass.
- 25:36So I only pick the ones that I really, really love and I
- 25:38wouldn't I'm not going to say any of the items have been
- 25:40asked. I like them all for different
- 25:42stuff, but these are definitely my favorite.
- 25:43So if you're going to pick a few, these are the ones.
- 25:47This one right here is the Venture jacket really, really
- 25:52cool jacket. It's got this material on the
- 25:54inside. Don't know what you call it, but
- 25:55super comfy. Also got the hole for your tree
- 25:59stand tether right here. It's waterproof blocks the wind
- 26:03really, really well because this lining inside and then check
- 26:06this out. I actually told them to show me
- 26:08this, a couple of Easter eggs as well.
- 26:10It's got pockets on the inside. I didn't even know that till
- 26:12right now, which is funny because I've worn it a lot.
- 26:15You got your standard pockets here.
- 26:16And then a really cool feature is they actually have zippers
- 26:19underneath the armpits that run the whole way on both sides,
- 26:24obviously. So this jacket, it's very warm,
- 26:28keeps you dry and if you are hiking up a hill and don't want
- 26:31to stop and set your pack down to take the jacket off to walk
- 26:34100 more yards. In a pinch, you could unzip it,
- 26:37unzip the front and just walk a little slower and at least get
- 26:40to the top before you strip down because I always hate that shit
- 26:43when I have to sit down and strip off and then it's just a
- 26:47hassle. So that it's nice that on this
- 26:49you kind of have the option, but the Venture jacket super fire
- 26:52and that's all I got. That's the last item and right
- 26:55there I basically can named a pant kind of a shirt you can
- 27:01wear on a regular basis, a not so warm jacket, although it's
- 27:06pretty warm, and then a very warm jacket.
- 27:08So right here you'd be pretty much set if you just got what I
- 27:11just said in your sort of hunt similar to me, I think you'd be
- 27:16Cherry. So anyway, that's what I got.
- 27:19Do you have any more of them you want to touch on or is that kind
- 27:22of are you good on on? Your no, I think that's, I think
- 27:25that's it. The only thing I did enjoy that
- 27:27I didn't haul out here was my backpack, which for a female, I
- 27:32think is critical when you find backpacks that fit in the right
- 27:35size. Yours is I believe the ATX 12 I
- 27:38think is the backpack you have. It does seem to fit you well and
- 27:44I'd say it fits you better than your prior backpacks because
- 27:49it's you've had some really tiny backpacks that were too small
- 27:53and then you had some that are way too big.
- 27:55This one I think fits a pretty nice middle for someone who's 51
- 28:00and 120 lbs now that's great. And then the pack that I run,
- 28:07I've had a few, the last one I had I think it was a ATX but
- 28:12maybe a higher number. So maybe yours is the 12 and I
- 28:14think mine was the 16. That 1 was great.
- 28:18My new one is one of the more expensive ones I sell.
- 28:20It's called the sacrifice. LS the pack itself fire?
- 28:25Love the pack. I do not like the angle that's
- 28:28cut in to the water bottle side because if you if you don't have
- 28:34the right size water bottle they fall out.
- 28:37So just the right size water bottle.
- 28:39It's the angle, angle at which they are.
- 28:41So not it's like, to me it's like it's backwards, which is
- 28:45really funny because if you look at multiple packs on the
- 28:47website, there are packs that that same their angle just like
- 28:52that's the same mesh material, but it angles the opposite way
- 28:56so that when you put the pack on it angles toward your back.
- 28:59These angle downward and away from your back, IE the water
- 29:03bottles are jutting out at an. Angle, anytime you take the pack
- 29:06off, they're falling out. Now I did find now genes don't,
- 29:10but just off that alone I am such a stickler for having good
- 29:15water bottle holders that I can access because I drink water
- 29:18like a fish. You know what I mean?
- 29:19Like I drink a lot of water. So for me I need to have easily
- 29:23accessible water. And you do have that with the
- 29:25sacrifice LS. But what happens is when you sit
- 29:27down to friggin glass or something, you stand up and both
- 29:30the water bottles fell out. Yeah, I remember 10 handing you
- 29:33a few signs your water bottle when you walked away.
- 29:35It happened all the time now with the ATX 16.
- 29:38That one has really good water bottle holders, really good, the
- 29:41pack comparable. I think both are really good.
- 29:43That one doesn't come stock with the hip storage the sacrifice
- 29:47does. So you got to buy those add-ons,
- 29:50but it's also a lot cheaper. So like I think you could build
- 29:54out a ATX 16 exactly how you want.
- 29:57And if you're like me and water bottles are really important, I
- 30:00would probably go with that. Now this in both have frames in
- 30:02them. Both have frames, one sacrifice
- 30:05you can carry more shit, but both are good.
- 30:09But I did want to mention the water bottle holders because
- 30:11they are at they are not good. But other than that, I love the
- 30:15pack and you love your pack. I think the backpacks is
- 30:19actually maybe where Badlands excels the best.
- 30:21I think the backpacks are really good.
- 30:24Yeah. So yeah, that's why I picked out
- 30:27this crazy one that's like, I don't even, I don't know the
- 30:32name of it, but I'm very interested to try it.
- 30:34I think for East coasters who are tree stand sitters who want
- 30:39to carry both their camera equipment and like saddle stuff
- 30:43and whatnot, this is going to be the backpack.
- 30:45And do you? Remember what it's called?
- 30:47It's sort of a camera backpack almost, right?
- 30:49Yeah, but that's why I thought. See if there's A tag on that
- 30:53just so you can tell people about it because oh, it'll say
- 30:58on that, that. Tag Connect FX.
- 31:00So the Connect FX pack, check that one out as well, sort of
- 31:04like a camera bag type makeup. You can fit tons of you know
- 31:07nowadays. It's kind of call it's very
- 31:09similar to my Everly stock R2D2. I call it R2D2.
- 31:14Was it not called R2D2? But it has like these side
- 31:17panels on it that are built on that was that look like R2D2
- 31:21arms, but this one like opens up and then opens out.
- 31:25So you have anything you need when you're sitting in your tree
- 31:30stand readily accessible and you just hang this, it literally
- 31:33becomes like a closet on the tree.
- 31:37So it looked super appealing to me when I saw it.
- 31:41Very interested to try it. Obviously I don't think this
- 31:47would be like maybe a day-to-day or day pack for me because it's
- 31:51rather large, but for most men, obviously it's different because
- 31:56they're not 5 foot 1 and 120 lbs so.
- 31:59Yeah, well, there, there you go guys.
- 32:03I, you know, again, this podcast isn't for everybody, but I know
- 32:07a lot of people are like me and don't want to spend money.
- 32:10And hopefully this podcast at least makes you not waste time
- 32:18and money buying stuff that maybe isn't what.
- 32:20You want to figure out if it's. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 32:22Maybe the what do they call it the the in hunting like what
- 32:28what do people say when it's like hard to learn something and
- 32:30then. Hard to learn.
- 32:32No, I don't know. I'm trying to be like
- 32:34sophisticated, but I've been reading lately so you know, Uh
- 32:37huh. Yeah, yeah, Your summaries at
- 32:39the end of the evenings of your chapters are riveting.
- 32:42Well, the book as a man thinketh Chapter 2.
- 32:45I gave you a good recap. I I haven't finished that a few
- 32:47more pages, but the mind is like a garden, so you must cultivate
- 32:52it. That's what that's.
- 32:53So that's your take away from 2 chapters?
- 32:55How much? No.
- 32:56That was just chapter 2. Right, right, right.
- 32:59How so? You've read 2 chapters of your
- 33:01book, right? Well, 1 1/2 I'm almost through
- 33:04chapter 2. But you didn't finish chapter 2.
- 33:07It was a long chapter so I read like 2/3 of it but I'll finish.
- 33:11Tonight, how much have I read? And the time is taking you one
- 33:14and 2/3 shots. I just wanna hear it.
- 33:16Way more but you love. How much is way more?
- 33:18You read a whole book. You love to brag about how fast
- 33:22you can read though. Yeah, my book you would
- 33:24actually. You don't like fiction, but you
- 33:26would like my book. It's about a game warden and his
- 33:31name is Joe Pickett, and the author is really cool because he
- 33:34always uses Joe Pickett and his job is always a game warden.
- 33:37But the story lines, the plot changes every book.
- 33:41Generally, girls like. Characters names and whatnot.
- 33:43Never. Change generally girls like
- 33:44books or it's like And then the dragon grabbed me.
- 33:48No, that doesn't happen in this one.
- 33:49So Joe Pickett is a game warden, and in this case there is this
- 33:53rich lawyer and this eco terrorist is going around and
- 33:59like, you know, putting nails in trees and whatnot, and he gets
- 34:02blown up by a cow. But it's this secret group of
- 34:07ranchers that got together a long time ago and formed the
- 34:11secret society, and they're working against the eco
- 34:15terrorists to eliminate them. And so anyways, Long story
- 34:20short, why would the game warden be involved in this situation?
- 34:23But he gets involved because it happens on this lawyer's
- 34:26property and he goes to let the lawyer know that these.
- 34:30Are you spoiling the book? If someone wanted to read it, I
- 34:32don't think. You should, yeah.
- 34:33But that's so that's all I'll tell you about it then.
- 34:35Also, I remembered what I was going to say.
- 34:37Well they get blown up in the 1st chapter so it's not like I
- 34:40spoiled. We shortened the learning curve.
- 34:43That's what I was looking for. That's the phrase.
- 34:45We shorten the learning curve because we've tried a lot of the
- 34:48gear Yeah and those are the stand out items, You know what
- 34:52I'm saying? So anyway, that's it Shout out
- 34:57to Badlands. Great year and we're stoked to
- 35:02support them and and them to support us.
- 35:05It's cool and hopefully y'all can save money 20% it's a lot
- 35:10team BD and helps us out and helps us make some cool content
- 35:15and keep pushing the needle forward baby.
- 35:17So anyway, stay tuned. Talk to you guys in the next
- 35:21podcast. Appreciate the support.
- 35:23Go save some money and if you get some gear, shoot us a DM
- 35:27with a picture. I'd love to see what you picked
- 35:28up and how you like it and we'll go from there.
- 35:31All right, Toodles.
