- 0:13Speaker 1: as fifty bucks Great seats, dpaknseed dot com. We have
- 0:17Speaker 1: Jack to get on the phone, who plays Buddy. And
- 0:20Speaker 1: I'm so excited because this is such an incredible show.
- 0:23Speaker 1: This is your first national tour.
- 0:25Speaker 2: Right, yes, that's true, which I know that you were.
- 0:27Speaker 1: A part of the ensemble for Waitress, which is also
- 0:30Speaker 1: one of my all time favorites. I mean, hands down great.
- 0:34Speaker 1: What can we look forward to for Elf this year?
- 0:36Speaker 2: Elf is an absolute blast. This production is based on
- 0:42Speaker 2: the Broadway revival from twenty twenty four that ran on
- 0:45Speaker 2: Broadway last year, and it's the same creative team as
- 0:48Speaker 2: that production, and so you can see a lot of
- 0:51Speaker 2: what you saw on Broadway last year and so many
- 0:54Speaker 2: ties to that original two thousand and three movie starring
- 0:57Speaker 2: Will Ferrell. It is a huge, incredibly fun, festive show
- 1:03Speaker 2: for the whole family, and you watch the story of
- 1:06Speaker 2: Buddy as he finds out he's a human and wants
- 1:09Speaker 2: to reconnect with his father for the first time.
- 1:11Speaker 1: Okay, so as you get ready because being Buddy is
- 1:14Speaker 1: a huge role, you know, for the show. And so
- 1:17Speaker 1: did you go and watch the movie several times? Like
- 1:20Speaker 1: how did you get yourself in character and prepared for
- 1:23Speaker 1: this role?
- 1:24Speaker 2: Absolutely? I have been watching this movie since birth. I
- 1:29Speaker 2: s every single year with my family. Oh my gosh,
- 1:31Speaker 2: It's one of the best Christmas movies ever. And so
- 1:36Speaker 2: for me, when I saw the auditions for Buddy, I
- 1:40Speaker 2: immediately was just overjoyed. I was like, I have to
- 1:43Speaker 2: try to do this because I've been obsessed with this
- 1:46Speaker 2: since for forever.
- 1:48Speaker 1: Yeah, it is definitely a classic that you have to
- 1:49Speaker 1: watch every year to make it official for the holiday season.
- 1:52Speaker 1: For sure.
- 1:53Speaker 2: Absolutely.
- 1:54Speaker 1: Okay, tell us about you because you know, we see
- 1:56Speaker 1: you on stage and we know you as Buddy on stage,
- 1:59Speaker 1: but who is Jack behind the scenes? Like what is
- 2:02Speaker 1: it that Jack likes to do when you're not on
- 2:04Speaker 1: the stage?
- 2:05Speaker 2: Man? Well, I grew up in Carmel, Indiana, and I
- 2:09Speaker 2: you know, I grew up in the theater and then
- 2:11Speaker 2: I found myself at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh for
- 2:14Speaker 2: the last four years, and I got lucky enough I
- 2:18Speaker 2: graduated in May and somehow right away found myself doing
- 2:23Speaker 2: this role on the road, which I feel like the
- 2:25Speaker 2: luckiest person in the world.
- 2:27Speaker 1: I mean, that's amazing because there's people I know that
- 2:29Speaker 1: have been trying for years, so like, obviously a lot
- 2:32Speaker 1: of talent there to score such a great, big role.
- 2:35Speaker 2: Thank you so much. I feel incredibly lucky. And outside
- 2:39Speaker 2: of the theater, I'm also a puppeteer and I am
- 2:43Speaker 2: obsessed with the Muppets, so I do a lot of
- 2:45Speaker 2: like puppetry and stuff like that too. I have a blast.
- 2:50Speaker 1: Well yeah, that's so fun. Okay, So what are you
- 2:53Speaker 1: looking forward to as this being your first national tour?
- 2:55Speaker 1: What is some things that you're you know, you've been
- 2:57Speaker 1: looking forward to as you stop in each city to
- 3:00Speaker 1: visit the cities and tour a little bit.
- 3:02Speaker 2: Yes, And for me, one of my favorite things whenever
- 3:05Speaker 2: I'm traveling because I've never been to Durham before, which
- 3:08Speaker 2: I'm really excited for. In fact, I've never been to
- 3:11Speaker 2: any of these cities except for maybe one or two,
- 3:14Speaker 2: and so I love going to art museums and museums
- 3:18Speaker 2: in general, because it tells me a lot about the city.
- 3:21Speaker 2: That's my favorite thing by far.
- 3:23Speaker 1: Okay, so we've got some great museums. Some of them
- 3:25Speaker 1: are in Raleigh, of course, which is like a twenty
- 3:27Speaker 1: five to thirty minute drive, and then Durham is not
- 3:29Speaker 1: for the foody scene. We've got a lot of great
- 3:31Speaker 1: restaurants that are unique, you know, locally owned restaurants with
- 3:36Speaker 1: top tier chefs. So I'm excited to have you. But
- 3:40Speaker 1: if anybody is on the fence about getting their tickets
- 3:43Speaker 1: sell us. Why do they have to get their tickets today?
- 3:45Speaker 2: Absolutely, you have to get your tickets today because this
- 3:49Speaker 2: is a show that anybody can come to and enjoy.
- 3:53Speaker 2: What is so fun about this show is even though
- 3:56Speaker 2: Buddy Deelfa is an adult, it's a coming of age story, right,
- 3:59Speaker 2: and because of that, you get to watch this person
- 4:04Speaker 2: experience the world almost through child's eyes, and so just
- 4:07Speaker 2: naturally that creates humor that children would love, and it
- 4:10Speaker 2: creates humor that adults would love. On top of it
- 4:13Speaker 2: already being such a classic with gorgeous choreography and dancing
- 4:18Speaker 2: and singing and lights and uh, it is just absolutely
- 4:22Speaker 2: great time for everybody.
- 4:24Speaker 1: I'm coming opening a night with my kids. They're very excited.
- 4:26Speaker 1: But we have Jack decat study. So cannot wait to
- 4:30Speaker 1: see you. Get the tickets now dpakanc dot com. Y'all.
- 4:34Speaker 1: It's gonna be a great job. I've seen it before
- 4:35Speaker 1: and it does not disappoint.
- 4:37Speaker 2: Oh. Well, thank you so much for giving me a call.
- 4:39Speaker 2: It's great to meet you.
