- 0:00Speaker 1: His job? Make it all make sense. He's Mark Simone
- 0:05Speaker 1: on 710WOR. Oh, hey, that's a beautiful Tuesday. It's going
- 0:12Speaker 1: to be really nice today and tomorrow. Rain on Thursday,
- 0:15Speaker 1: but enjoy it today and tomorrow. Beautiful summer day. So listen,
- 0:20Speaker 1: Bruce Blakeman, you know, it's got the deck stacked against him. It's,
- 0:25Speaker 1: you know, it's a very tough thing to be a
- 0:27Speaker 1: Republican run for governor in New York, but you've seen
- 0:31Speaker 1: the last few not succeed. Lee Zeldin, Rob Astorino, who else?
- 0:37Speaker 1: There were a few others, but this is different. This
- 0:41Speaker 1: is different. Blakeman's different. He's a very sharp guy, and
- 0:43Speaker 1: he's been a great governor for five years now. Nassau
- 0:47Speaker 1: County Executive, that job is this being a governor. You're
- 0:50Speaker 1: the governor of the county, and he's been phenomenal at it.
- 0:55Speaker 1: The best-run county in the country. He's considered the best
- 0:58Speaker 1: county executive. So Unlike a congressman who you don't exactly
- 1:01Speaker 1: know how they'd be as a manager because they're just legislators,
- 1:07Speaker 1: this guy's got a track record as a great governor. Now,
- 1:10Speaker 1: he's also a great speaker and he does very well
- 1:14Speaker 1: campaigning and works very hard. Now, here's the thing. She
- 1:19Speaker 1: has outraised him because she's a Democrat. He's raised about $ 11,
- 1:23Speaker 1: $ 12 million in She's raised $ 22 million. She's got $ 22
- 1:29Speaker 1: million in cash. And the DNC is going to give
- 1:31Speaker 1: her another $ 20 million. That's $ 42 million. So she's going
- 1:36Speaker 1: to run a ton of TV commercials. She already started.
- 1:39Speaker 1: She's running a whole bunch of TV commercials against him
- 1:43Speaker 1: for his Trump stuff. You know, he's a Trump MAGA,
- 1:45Speaker 1: Trump MAGA, MAGA, Trump MAGA, showing him and Trump, hugging
- 1:49Speaker 1: him and Trump. So that's to hurt him. Now, here's
- 1:54Speaker 1: her problem. And here's what's going to really, really help Blakeman.
- 1:59Speaker 1: Not that he needs help. I think he can win
- 2:00Speaker 1: on his own. But some big things are coming. There's
- 2:04Speaker 1: a bunch of big super packs with endless money that
- 2:08Speaker 1: are now coming out for Blakeman. And congratulations to James Dolan. Yeah,
- 2:14Speaker 1: the Madison Square Garden James Dolan. He's put together one pack.
- 2:18Speaker 1: They're spending a million dollars right now running ads. And...
- 2:25Speaker 1: You know, don't think of just TV commercials. TV commercials
- 2:28Speaker 1: don't mean that much anymore. I mean, it's fine, but
- 2:31Speaker 1: you need these same commercials to run on digital and
- 2:33Speaker 1: streaming platforms, and they're running there. Dolan right now is
- 2:37Speaker 1: spending a million dollars running commercials to target Hochul's commercials.
- 2:44Speaker 1: So Hochul's running all those Blakeman Trump commercials, and Dolan
- 2:48Speaker 1: is running all these commercials about, look how ridiculous Hochul is.
- 2:51Speaker 1: She's obsessed with Trump. In the commercial, it says, Kathy
- 2:56Speaker 1: Hochul blames Trump for everything, but the president didn't raise
- 3:00Speaker 1: our energy bill 48 times. He didn't put illegal migrants
- 3:04Speaker 1: in hotels and stick us with the bill. Hochul did.
- 3:07Speaker 1: The president didn't raise taxes and tell New Yorkers to
- 3:10Speaker 1: get the hell out. Hochul did. The president didn't give
- 3:14Speaker 1: us congestion pricing. It's a good argument. These commercials are
- 3:16Speaker 1: running all over the place right now. We need a
- 3:19Speaker 1: governor who will shift the blame. We need a governor
- 3:22Speaker 1: who will lead. So these are all for Blakeman. This
- 3:24Speaker 1: is going to be a big, big help. He's already
- 3:27Speaker 1: spent a million, and there's millions more coming. So this
- 3:31Speaker 1: will help Blakeman. Now there's another PAC that's starting up,
- 3:35Speaker 1: starting to spend. They've got millions of dollars. They're going
- 3:37Speaker 1: to back Blakeman. It's a newly created PAC. They're going
- 3:42Speaker 1: to have literally millions and millions. It's the Defend Empire
- 3:47Speaker 1: State PAC. And it's going to help Blakeman. It's going
- 3:50Speaker 1: to spend a fortune to counter Hochul. So she's got
- 3:53Speaker 1: these two packs and more are coming. They're going to
- 3:56Speaker 1: be very aggressive going after her. Now, remember, it's August.
- 4:00Speaker 1: The campaign does not really start till after Labor Day.
- 4:04Speaker 1: So even though Blakeman went from 25 points behind to
- 4:07Speaker 1: five points behind, he hasn't even started yet. After Labor Day,
- 4:10Speaker 1: it really gets started. So these packs are going to
- 4:13Speaker 1: jump in. It's not going to be pretty for Hochul.
- 4:15Speaker 1: She's going to have a big problem. Now, New York
- 4:19Speaker 1: City's different. You know, New York City's a lot of
- 4:21Speaker 1: crazy left-wing Mamdani people, but Blakeman only needs to win 35%
- 4:27Speaker 1: of New York. That's all he needs, 35%. And he's
- 4:31Speaker 1: different from these other guys that ran. Lee Zeldin was a,
- 4:35Speaker 1: you know, Suffolk County, Long Island kind of guy. Rob
- 4:38Speaker 1: Astorino's a Westchester kind of guy. Blakeman's a Nassau County guy,
- 4:42Speaker 1: but there's something very New York City about him. He
- 4:44Speaker 1: spent a lot of his life in New York City,
- 4:46Speaker 1: so he's a, People, New Yorkers think of him as
- 4:49Speaker 1: a New York City guy too. So he's got a really,
- 4:51Speaker 1: really good shot at this. And you might see things
- 4:56Speaker 1: really heat up after Labor Day, especially in the middle
- 4:59Speaker 1: of September through the end of October. And she's agreed
- 5:04Speaker 1: to debate Blakeman. That's big because Blakeman can easily out-debate her, easily.
- 5:08Speaker 1: Because she'll yell and scream, scream, MAGA Trump, MAGA Trump.
- 5:12Speaker 1: It's not going to be effective. Now, the only problem
- 5:14Speaker 1: is she's only agreed to one debate. And it's on
- 5:17Speaker 1: New York One, which nobody sees. There's absolutely no audience
- 5:20Speaker 1: on New York One. It'll be online, too, and the
- 5:24Speaker 1: clips will go viral. But it'd be better to have
- 5:27Speaker 1: the debate on a real place. Also, New York One
- 5:30Speaker 1: is the most biased, slanted, left-wing. I mean, listen, I
- 5:36Speaker 1: worked there for 17 years. They're very nice people. There's
- 5:38Speaker 1: no nicer guy than Errol Lewis. But there's no more slanted,
- 5:42Speaker 1: biased guy than Errol Lewis. It's going to be a
- 5:45Speaker 1: bunch of those types. doing the questioning. So that's not
- 5:48Speaker 1: going to be so great. Hey, remember yesterday I was
- 5:51Speaker 1: telling you about the president at an IndyCar race. He
- 5:55Speaker 1: brought it to Washington, D.C. They've talked about it for years, decades, but,
- 6:00Speaker 1: you know, politicians just talk about something. Trump actually gets
- 6:04Speaker 1: it done. So there it was all around Washington, D.C.
- 6:07Speaker 1: It was beautiful to watch on TV, IndyCar, and you
- 6:10Speaker 1: hear that, you know, those engines and roaring. And as
- 6:14Speaker 1: I was telling you, It drives the left crazy. You know,
- 6:18Speaker 1: they don't like cars. They don't like gasoline. They don't
- 6:22Speaker 1: like engine noise. They like an electric car that sounds
- 6:25Speaker 1: like this. That's the sound they like. I love the
- 6:29Speaker 1: sound of an engine. They hate it. So they got
- 6:33Speaker 1: sick to their stomach watching this IndyCar, these roaring engines.
- 6:37Speaker 1: And they're going 200 miles an hour. You know, they're
- 6:40Speaker 1: burning like a tank of gas every five feet. It
- 6:43Speaker 1: was driving them nuts. So Adam Schiff had to speak out.
- 6:47Speaker 1: He couldn't help himself. He denounced the whole thing as
- 6:50Speaker 1: a disgusting spectacle to distract Americans from higher costs and
- 6:56Speaker 1: policy failures. And Schiff yelling, while you struggle with the
- 7:00Speaker 1: cost of gas, look how much gas they're wasting. More
- 7:03Speaker 1: taxpayer money was spent on this self-aggrandizing distraction, and you
- 7:09Speaker 1: get higher taxes and higher costs. Ha ha. Now, if
- 7:13Speaker 1: you pick this apart, it's Schiff that's giving you the
- 7:15Speaker 1: higher taxes. Trump is lowering your taxes. Schiff and the
- 7:19Speaker 1: Democrats are raising the taxes. And the race— he' s also a Democrat.
- 7:25Speaker 1: They're totally out of touch. They don't realize what NASCAR
- 7:28Speaker 1: means to America. They don't realize what IndyCar means to America.
- 7:33Speaker 1: You know the number one sport, number one spectator sport
- 7:36Speaker 1: in America? NASCAR. But they don't know that. Don't tell
- 7:39Speaker 1: them that. So everybody went crazy about Schiff's comments, yelling
- 7:43Speaker 1: and screaming at him, especially the race fans. And that's
- 7:46Speaker 1: half of America, more than three quarters of America. And
- 7:50Speaker 1: they're pointing out, remember Schiff, anything Schiff says is always
- 7:53Speaker 1: a lie, always a lie. They had to point out
- 7:55Speaker 1: to him the whole thing, the race, everything was privately funded.
- 7:59Speaker 1: Not only was it privately funded, but it brought a
- 8:02Speaker 1: ton of money into the government because Tens of thousands
- 8:07Speaker 1: of spectators poured into Washington and spent money. And it
- 8:14Speaker 1: was actually, if you watch the whole thing, it was
- 8:15Speaker 1: all about the pride of being an American. It was
- 8:18Speaker 1: about great racing and patriotism on display. But you can't
- 8:22Speaker 1: explain this to Democrats. They don't get that kind of stuff. Hey,
- 8:26Speaker 1: also in the last week or so, ICE doing very
- 8:30Speaker 1: well in Washington, D.C. ICE arrested 400 people. Criminal illegals.
- 8:36Speaker 1: These are illegals with criminal convictions, actual criminals. Now, they
- 8:40Speaker 1: went on a big, massive ice raid, ice sweep. They
- 8:44Speaker 1: got 1,300 illegals off the streets of Washington, actually, in
- 8:47Speaker 1: the last two weeks. In the group was 400 illegals
- 8:52Speaker 1: who had criminal convictions and pending criminal charges. They are
- 8:57Speaker 1: off the streets of Washington, D.C. right now. You know,
- 9:00Speaker 1: that was one of the most dangerous cities in America.
- 9:03Speaker 1: People were terrified. You couldn't walk around Washington, D.C. at night.
- 9:07Speaker 1: Forget it. You couldn't go anywhere. There were a couple
- 9:10Speaker 1: of nice areas, little nice areas, but you go two
- 9:12Speaker 1: blocks the other way and you're in a war zone.
- 9:15Speaker 1: Trump has cleaned that up. People are now free to
- 9:17Speaker 1: go out. Not that many big restaurants in Washington or
- 9:22Speaker 1: anything like that. But now that it's safe, people are
- 9:25Speaker 1: going out. Restaurants are making a fortune. Businesses are making
- 9:28Speaker 1: a fortune. It's really good. Hey, I want to tell
- 9:31Speaker 1: you something really important. If you're one of those intermittent fasters,
- 9:36Speaker 1: you know, there are a lot of people that don't
- 9:37Speaker 1: eat breakfast anymore. They have this intermittent fasting. You know,
- 9:40Speaker 1: I don't eat for 14 hours, for 16 hours. So
- 9:43Speaker 1: they eat earlier at night and then they don't eat
- 9:47Speaker 1: breakfast and they don't eat till like lunch. There's been
- 9:52Speaker 1: studies showing that's very unhealthy. But a brand new huge
- 9:54Speaker 1: study from one of the top hospitals has found if
- 9:58Speaker 1: you do that, you've got an increased risk of dying
- 10:01Speaker 1: by 29%. Eating afternoon, if you don't eat your first
- 10:06Speaker 1: meal of the afternoon, 46% higher risk of cardiovascular death
- 10:11Speaker 1: compared to a normal early breakfast. Also a study from
- 10:15Speaker 1: Mass General, Brigham, very good hospital. said later breakfast times
- 10:20Speaker 1: in later life not only linked to a higher risk
- 10:23Speaker 1: of early death, but also linked to depression, fatigue, and
- 10:28Speaker 1: oral health problems. So if right now you haven't eaten yet,
- 10:32Speaker 1: go eat right now. No more of that intermittent fasting.
- 10:35Speaker 1: Just cut down on what you eat. Forget the intermittent fasting. Hey, oh,
- 10:39Speaker 1: we've got a lot coming up. We'll talk to the
- 10:41Speaker 1: brilliant columnist Liz Peek. We'll take some calls. And a
- 10:46Speaker 1: lot more just ahead. Don't forget, it's three hours now.
- 10:48Speaker 1: Mark Simone, 9 to noon. 9 to noon. Three hours
- 10:53Speaker 1: every day here on 710WOR.
