- 0:02Speaker 1: Hello, and welcome to JFK Book Reviews, a series by
- 0:06Speaker 1: the Lone Gunman Podcast, which I do with my co
- 0:09Speaker 1: host here, mister Rob Clark. Hello, and today we will
- 0:15Speaker 1: be reviewing the book The Final Truth, Solving the Mystery
- 0:22Speaker 1: of the JFK Assassination. This is by Edward J. Bauer. Yeah,
- 0:29Speaker 1: you could see it right there. Not super thick, but
- 0:35Speaker 1: you can definitely smack it a little bit. It consists
- 0:43Speaker 1: of nineteen chapters, but is preceded by a list of
- 0:50Speaker 1: pre appendixes, if you will, of illustrations one of table's
- 0:56Speaker 1: preface and intro. The mean Potatoes of the nineteen chapters
- 1:00Speaker 1: is about two hundred and ten pages, and then there
- 1:03Speaker 1: are four appendixes. First one being the translation of the
- 1:08Speaker 1: Walker letter to Marina, which I know we've gone over
- 1:12Speaker 1: on the show recently. Be a timeline sequence of the
- 1:14Speaker 1: bullet from Main Street see Harold Weiersberg's for court cases
- 1:19Speaker 1: against the FBI and the dealing with the Dallas Cinema Associates.
- 1:25Speaker 1: Appendices are about eight pages long, and there's a pretty
- 1:29Speaker 1: solid footnote section. It's about twenty five pages, also with
- 1:33Speaker 1: a bibliography section and an index section as well.
- 1:40Speaker 2: It is available on Kindle instantly for six ninety nine,
- 1:45Speaker 2: on Amazon paperback new for twelve ninety five about thirteen bucks,
- 1:51Speaker 2: and use copy start from about nine dollars. The author,
- 1:55Speaker 2: Edward Bauer, has been researching the Kennedy assassination since the
- 1:59Speaker 2: day it happened, but it would never have been solved
- 2:02Speaker 2: without his hands on experience in rifle marketmanship and film editing.
- 2:07Speaker 2: He has been writing for newspapers, radio, and television for
- 2:10Speaker 2: forty years, including a university acclaimed video series of conflict simulations.
- 2:16Speaker 2: He holds a master's from the Graduate School of Syracuse
- 2:19Speaker 2: University and Ambascheldor's from a new House School of Public
- 2:24Speaker 2: Communications at Syracuse University.
- 2:27Speaker 1: So credibility seems okay. This is the only book he
- 2:30Speaker 1: has written. And rob this book has a Loan Nutter.
- 2:35Speaker 3: Lean to it. Yes, unfortunately it does, Joe, and this
- 2:40Speaker 3: will be our first, I believe, our first loant book
- 2:43Speaker 3: that we're going to be reviewing.
- 2:45Speaker 1: Well, Robert Oswalt's a kind of and kind.
- 2:51Speaker 3: Of this is the first real, first real removed person
- 2:58Speaker 3: from the case writing about it. Loan nut wise. Now,
- 3:04Speaker 3: I was duped into buying this book, Joe, I was.
- 3:11Speaker 1: It looks like a conspiracy book.
- 3:14Speaker 3: And that's why I bought it. I mean, The Final
- 3:17Speaker 3: Truth Solving the Mystery of the JFK Assassination breaks more
- 3:20Speaker 3: new ground than any work of this tragedy, serious history,
- 3:24Speaker 3: finally written correctly. You know, you figure this is a
- 3:30Speaker 3: conspiracy book. But I got it and I started reading it,
- 3:34Speaker 3: and I was like, hold on a minute, what is
- 3:38Speaker 3: going on here? Now? You know the Warrant Commission got
- 3:46Speaker 3: everything right, Joe, So why do you need to write
- 3:48Speaker 3: a book called The Final Truth Solving the Mystery of
- 3:51Speaker 3: the JFK Assassination when they already persecuted Lee Harvey Oswald
- 3:56Speaker 3: as the lone assassin. I don't know.
- 4:01Speaker 1: That's a good question.
- 4:04Speaker 3: And the more I started reading this book, because you know,
- 4:08Speaker 3: I like to see where these guys are thinking from.
- 4:14Speaker 3: And the author does spend a lot of time on
- 4:17Speaker 3: Lee Harvey Oswald, his past and the shot sequence in
- 4:25Speaker 3: Dealey Plaza. One of his big theories in this book, okay,
- 4:32Speaker 3: was that Oswald was a scary good marksman, right, and
- 4:38Speaker 3: that as he sat up there and he reassembled his
- 4:41Speaker 3: rifle with a dime or whatever, his fingernail, I don't know,
- 4:46Speaker 3: maybe his zipper. You know he was smart enough to
- 4:51Speaker 3: realize that the rifles just not sighted in. Okay, So
- 4:55Speaker 3: the first shot Joe was an intentional miss. He purposely
- 5:01Speaker 3: fired towards the curve just to see how far off
- 5:05Speaker 3: his scope was. And he was so scary good. You
- 5:11Speaker 3: know that he immediately accounted for that, for that distance,
- 5:19Speaker 3: you know that the.
- 5:20Speaker 1: Scope was off right without actually adjusting the scope right.
- 5:26Speaker 3: He just shot, you know, he looked through it shot
- 5:29Speaker 3: and maybe it went you know, down to the left
- 5:34Speaker 3: a little bit or up into the right a little bit,
- 5:35Speaker 3: who knows. But he immediately corrected on a moving vehicle,
- 5:39Speaker 3: a moving target moving away from him, and managed to
- 5:44Speaker 3: account for that difference and successfully strike JFK twice in
- 5:51Speaker 3: the back. Now, I don't know about all that. That
- 5:57Speaker 3: sounds like a bunch of hog horse ship to me.
- 6:02Speaker 1: Uh.
- 6:03Speaker 3: He does go into some of the medical evidence as well,
- 6:08Speaker 3: not a lot, believe me. A lot of this stuff
- 6:12Speaker 3: is spent with Oswald in mind. And you did mention
- 6:18Speaker 3: Joe that there is a footnote section and unfortunately every
- 6:22Speaker 3: every other footnote is Gerald Posner case closed. John mccadam's website,
- 6:29Speaker 3: Dale Myers's website. You know, it's like loan nutter central right,
- 6:34Speaker 3: So to me, if you're if you're footnoting another author's book,
- 6:40Speaker 3: I mean, get the fuck out of here, you know
- 6:42Speaker 3: what I mean? Yeah, do some real research, come up
- 6:45Speaker 3: with some documents instead of parenting all these guys and
- 6:50Speaker 3: just throwing your own opinion in. Now, I want to
- 6:55Speaker 3: read a short piece of this because this guy is
- 6:58Speaker 3: not just a lone nutter. He is a pompous asshole
- 7:01Speaker 3: who thinks that you, the reader, is an idiot. If
- 7:04Speaker 3: you believe in a conspiracy, listen to this Joe. Researchers, authorities,
- 7:11Speaker 3: and students of this horrific event to which we are
- 7:13Speaker 3: becoming inured but ought never be completely are divided into
- 7:17Speaker 3: two camps, the loan nutters and the conspiracy theorists. The
- 7:22Speaker 3: amicability of other hobbyists, say stamp collectors, has been replaced
- 7:25Speaker 3: with unprecedented polarization, vituperation, and ad hominem attacks on a
- 7:30Speaker 3: widespread scale. Now there's a fancy mix of a lot
- 7:34Speaker 3: of big words that I will be perfectly honest with
- 7:38Speaker 3: you and tell you that I don't know the meaning of.
- 7:42Speaker 2: U.
- 7:43Speaker 3: The polarization has left no middle ground. The loan nutters
- 7:47Speaker 3: argue that Oswald acted alone from start to finish, and
- 7:50Speaker 3: that Oswald assassin Jack Ruby acted alone from beginning to end.
- 7:54Speaker 3: Nobody knew what anybody else was doing, and no compromise.
- 7:57Speaker 3: The rest of you are kooks. The conspiracy theorists insists
- 8:01Speaker 3: that there were several individuals large organizations involved throughout conspiracies
- 8:06Speaker 3: before the shooting in Daly Plais itself and afterwards, conspiracies
- 8:10Speaker 3: involving Parkland surgeons of Parkland Hospital, those conducting the autopsy
- 8:15Speaker 3: of Betesda JD. Tippett, Jack Ruby, the CIA, the Mafia,
- 8:19Speaker 3: the FBI, Fidel Castro, little Miss Muffett, and groups no
- 8:22Speaker 3: one has ever heard of. Never going to change our minds.
- 8:27Speaker 3: The rest of you are dupes. If there were some
- 8:30Speaker 3: semblance of intelligent, rational, mature discussion here where everyone was
- 8:35Speaker 3: pulling on the same rope, a middle ground might be reached.
- 8:39Speaker 3: For example, it is possible that up to the instant
- 8:41Speaker 3: President Kennedy was killed, there was no conspiracy. Oswald acting
- 8:46Speaker 3: on his own was that lone nut and that is
- 8:48Speaker 3: simply just that, But precisely at that moment Z three thirteen,
- 8:55Speaker 3: that would be the headshot a conspiracy. Sprang Forth conspiracy
- 9:00Speaker 3: to a silence Lee Harvey Oswald, thus denying him the
- 9:04Speaker 3: platform to make wild accusations of it wasn't me, and
- 9:09Speaker 3: to ensure a common faith in the stability of our
- 9:11Speaker 3: system of government by convincing its citizens that only a
- 9:14Speaker 3: single dranged loom that he could pull off such a crime,
- 9:18Speaker 3: that conspiracy for the good of the country might have
- 9:22Speaker 3: involved the Dallas Police Department, Dallas County Sheriff's Office, Jack Ruby, LBJ. Whitehouse,
- 9:27Speaker 3: the Hoover, FBI, the Warrant Commission, and perhaps others. Most
- 9:31Speaker 3: of it tacit unspoken but completely understood. This possible scenario
- 9:37Speaker 3: is submitted as a middle ground starting point for a cordial,
- 9:40Speaker 3: respectful back and forth discussion. No insistence is made that
- 9:45Speaker 3: any of it is dogma. It is a merely part Loan, Nutter,
- 9:49Speaker 3: part CT and after world we will buy each other
- 9:52Speaker 3: a beer and then you can go fuck yourself. How
- 9:56Speaker 3: about that? Edward Bower, I mean, what kind of shit
- 10:01Speaker 3: is this? And then he's got a section at the
- 10:06Speaker 3: end that he titles heroes. Okay, these people that he
- 10:10Speaker 3: think are heroes in this story. One is all Officer JD. Tippin,
- 10:18Speaker 3: One is Johnny Calvin, Brewer one is Gerald Ford. Listen
- 10:27Speaker 3: to this shit? Gerald Ford? For fifteen years the sole
- 10:31Speaker 3: surviving member of the Warrant Commission, until the publication of
- 10:37Speaker 3: Gerald Posner's case closed in ninety three, his was virtually
- 10:41Speaker 3: the only voice defending the single gum and point of view,
- 10:44Speaker 3: reiterating that we got it right, besieds from all sides.
- 10:49Speaker 3: It would have been easy for him to back off
- 10:51Speaker 3: a bit, perhaps citing a lack of technology, but he
- 10:53Speaker 3: stood up for the truth. And he also moves back
- 10:58Speaker 3: wound down about five inches is from the neck to
- 11:01Speaker 3: the back. Yeah, secret Service agent Clint Hill. Now I'll
- 11:07Speaker 3: give him that. That's here, that's something he wrote, ship right,
- 11:11Speaker 3: what he did, what Clint Hill did. And of course
- 11:16Speaker 3: he mentions Jackie Kennedy being another hero. Well, she didn't
- 11:19Speaker 3: do much other than you know, being the worst place
- 11:23Speaker 3: at the worst time possible.
- 11:25Speaker 1: We stood in defiance with with the dress full of blood.
- 11:31Speaker 3: Well yeah, yeah, but I mean.
- 11:35Speaker 1: I get accept that, okay, h m hmm.
- 11:43Speaker 3: And like I said, excuse me, I don't know what
- 11:50Speaker 3: to make of this book, Joe. I believe the author
- 11:54Speaker 3: got a point, got I got his point across that
- 11:58Speaker 3: all Loan nutters are any it's right, and it they
- 12:03Speaker 3: got it right. It's a Warren commission except for a
- 12:07Speaker 3: couple of things, right, some innocent mistakes here or there,
- 12:13Speaker 3: and his whole new Shot theory. You know that Oswald
- 12:17Speaker 3: was such a scary good marksman, and you know he
- 12:20Speaker 3: put he picks and chooses and cherry picks his evidence
- 12:23Speaker 3: all through the book, as all lone nutters do. And
- 12:30Speaker 3: it's just a joke of a book. I'm glad this
- 12:35Speaker 3: is the only book that Edward Bower ever decided to write.
- 12:39Speaker 3: And if I could get my money back for this
- 12:43Speaker 3: piece of ship, I would. That is how bitter I
- 12:47Speaker 3: am about this book. Joe, I can see that, Uh,
- 12:53Speaker 3: because I was duped into buying and thinking it was
- 12:54Speaker 3: a conspiracy book.
- 12:56Speaker 1: I bet you're not the only one who fell for that, right.
- 13:02Speaker 3: I mean, it's a good looking book. You know, it's
- 13:04Speaker 3: got a nice color, nice color, you know, deal on
- 13:07Speaker 3: a nice glossy and you know it's got all the
- 13:11Speaker 3: ship on the back, the rifle, the pruder, campbell, the pistol,
- 13:16Speaker 3: the motorcade picture.
- 13:17Speaker 1: And I think that's intentional for sure.
- 13:22Speaker 3: Yeah, New Theories is what it says. The first thing
- 13:26Speaker 3: on the back. But yet he puts forth and it
- 13:29Speaker 3: puts forth in this book his own theories that are
- 13:34Speaker 3: definitely w R O n G wrong wrong wrong. So Joe,
- 13:44Speaker 3: with that being said, tell me how you felt about
- 13:47Speaker 3: this book, dude.
- 13:48Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, I'm I'm I'm in pretty much complete
- 13:52Speaker 2: agreement with you.
- 13:54Speaker 1: I think it is well written. I think he tries
- 13:58Speaker 1: to make his points uh and makes them in a
- 14:02Speaker 1: decent way, but I I agree.
- 14:06Speaker 3: With almost all of them.
- 14:09Speaker 1: Uh so uh in short, I am going to give
- 14:13Speaker 1: this ah very low three guns up.
- 14:25Speaker 3: Okay, Okay, well, let me disagree with you. I find
- 14:30Speaker 3: nothing redeeming at all about this book. It's written from
- 14:34Speaker 3: a standpoint of higher than down this as most loan
- 14:37Speaker 3: numbers do. And uh, you know, making me look up
- 14:42Speaker 3: words like viperturalism or whatever whatever crap is in here.
- 14:48Speaker 3: And you know, picking on Harold Wiseberg for a pursuing
- 14:54Speaker 3: his law law given rights to for your request things
- 15:00Speaker 3: right and busting his balls about that is just ridiculous.
- 15:05Speaker 3: You know, Harold Weisberg was a trailblazer in that sort
- 15:11Speaker 3: of thing, and for him to just totally make him
- 15:16Speaker 3: out to be a zealot is just beyond me, just
- 15:20Speaker 3: beyond me. And like I said, I I couldn't find
- 15:25Speaker 3: anything redeeming about this book. I learned absolutely nothing. I
- 15:31Speaker 3: felt talked down to this entire book. I felt name
- 15:34Speaker 3: called out reading this entire book, and I hated it,
- 15:41Speaker 3: hated it, hated it. So with that being said, Rob,
- 15:45Speaker 3: Big Bad Bob is going to give this piece of shit.
- 15:48Speaker 3: It's very first one gun up, okay, and it's going
- 15:59Speaker 3: to be this one to this here because I wasted
- 16:04Speaker 3: my money on this.
- 16:05Speaker 1: Yeah, I hear you.
- 16:13Speaker 3: So with that being said, folks, that's the book. That's
- 16:18Speaker 3: the review, The Final Truth Solving the Mystery of the
- 16:21Speaker 3: JFK Assassination by Ed Bauer. Rip to that piece of crap.
