  Speaker 5: You know, we know about his Minnesota ties, former student

  Speaker 5: manager back in the day for the Gophers, but it

  Speaker 5: was really what he was able to do at Colorado State.

  Speaker 5: First year out, there was twelve and twenty, but then

  Speaker 5: comes back with three straight twenty win seasons, then goes

  Speaker 5: fifteen and eighteen, comes back two more twenty win seasons.

  Speaker 5: They were twenty six and ten this year got the

  Speaker 5: one win in the tournament before being knocked out. And

  Speaker 5: here's how I feel about it. If you can go

  Speaker 5: to Colorado State for Collins. Colorado is a very nice location,

  Speaker 5: nice college town, all that, but listen, Colorado State, the Rams, well,

  Speaker 5: this guy and totally turns that program around out there,

  Speaker 5: recruiting some a couple of Minnesota kids, but putting together

  Speaker 5: wasn't a head coach. And that's where Medvec comes in

  Speaker 5: and hopefully changes things around. Now everything is always going

  Speaker 5: to be good. You know, you had the press conferences here,

  Speaker 5: listen to mean Division one athletics. And I think that

  Speaker 5: this could be a lot of fun with the new

  Speaker 5: arena at Saint Thomas. These schools are literally just ten

  Speaker 5: minutes apart from each other. I mean, fly down River
• 7:24
  Speaker 5: Road and you know, take left there, just past the
• 7:27
  Speaker 5: Governor's mansion and you're right there at the University of
• 7:30
  Speaker 5: Saint Thomas from Minnesota. So I mean, this is really something.

  Speaker 5: And can you know, it's really even though they technically
• 7:38
  Speaker 5: are in two cities, they're so close that this is
• 7:41
  Speaker 5: really an inner city battle just waiting to be born.

  Speaker 5: You know, people talk about, you know, Indiana, Purdue, Wisconsin Marquette.

  Speaker 5: That's kind of the vibe that you're hoping it can have.

  Speaker 5: But I hope they find a way to play sooner

  Speaker 5: than later. I think that'd be great for both programs.

  Speaker 5: Quite honestly. Some of the other things that the coach

  Speaker 5: has to do is obviously put together a team. Gophers

  Speaker 5: have had a lot of players that have left that

  Speaker 5: have gone on to success at other schools, and we

  Speaker 5: need to keep some of these people here, obviously. But

  Speaker 5: again that goes with the new age of nil and

  Speaker 5: being able to raise funds and have the money here

  Speaker 5: to offer to.

  Speaker 2: Keep your players once you get them here.

  Speaker 5: So you know, many many things in terms of coaching

  Speaker 5: and the team. I like what he said about Williams
• 8:41
  Speaker 5: Arena too. You know, that's a very delicate subject here

  Speaker 5: because Williams Arena for those of us who have had
• 8:47
  Speaker 5: the pleasure of watching very good Gopher basketball teams, and
• 8:52
  Speaker 5: I know over the past twenty years or so, there

  Speaker 5: hasn't been a lot of those, but going back beyond that,

  Speaker 5: and even for me, you know, going back into the eighties,

  Speaker 5: and then you know Trent Tucker, Kevin McHale, Michael Thompson.

  Speaker 5: I mean, you know, I've been in that arena and

  Speaker 5: seen that arena when that arena is rocking and rolling,

  Speaker 5: and they're absolutely right, there is really no better place

  Speaker 5: in town. When that arena is packed and those fans

  Speaker 5: are screaming, Williams Arena.

  Speaker 2: Is magical, magical.

  Speaker 5: With that being said, that doesn't change the fact that

  Speaker 5: it has the worst seating. You know, again, I told

  Speaker 5: you how I gave up mid court seats at halftime

  Speaker 5: when me and a friend went recently because you know,

  Speaker 5: we're big, tall, bigger dudes, and we actually went and

  Speaker 5: got and sat on the benches just because we had

  Speaker 5: more room, my room to stretch out, more room for

  Speaker 5: more leg room. It was crazy, So there's gonna have

  Speaker 5: to be some type at the very least rem In

  Speaker 5: my opinion of Williams Arena, I think you don't necessarily

  Speaker 5: need fourteen five hundred people in there anymore. I think that,

  Speaker 5: you know, take that down to maybe ten thousand nine,

  Speaker 5: ten thousand in there be perfect.

  Speaker 2: Space that's seating out a little bit more.

  Speaker 5: Make it comfortable for your premium seats that you're trying

  Speaker 5: to sell. There's other issues that you know, I've talked

  Speaker 5: to people about in terms of making that Williams Arena

  Speaker 5: is a hard place to get to.

  Speaker 5: Now the parking lots right around there are kept for

  Speaker 5: season ticket holders. There's not a lot of season ticket holders,

  Speaker 5: so there's a lot of wasted parking for people that

  Speaker 5: can park right next to the arena, and so therefore.

  Speaker 5: Now it doesn't seem like it's far Like I parked

  Speaker 5: in the parking ramp that was literally a block away.

  Speaker 5: But in the wintertime that can be a long walk. Man,

  Speaker 5: that can be a low So, you know, is there

  Speaker 5: a way to maybe trying to connect maybe the parking

  Speaker 5: ramp across the street with some little skyway, just anything

  Speaker 5: to make it easier to get in to Williams Arena,

  Speaker 2: I should say, but that's something for another day.

  Speaker 5: Happy that they just got this coach in here and

  Speaker 5: that he can start planning to rebuild the to go

  Speaker 5: weren't inspecting and I think got, you know, at times.

  Speaker 2: A lot more out of this team than we were expecting.

  Speaker 5: disappointing thing because right now the Timberwolves are in the

  Speaker 5: half a game behind Golden State. Sacramento Kings are about

  Speaker 5: So the Wolves, you know, disappointing if they wind up

  Speaker 5: and maybe, just maybe they can eazone down the road
