- 0:11Rob and Vicki Graves had found what appeared to be their dream
- 0:14home, looking to escape the big city life and take up a more
- 0:19rural one for themselves and their two teenage sons.
- 0:23They found Fox Hollow Farm and were shocked at how affordable
- 0:27it was for the sheer size and quality of the property.
- 0:31Sensing that it was too good to be true, they asked what could
- 0:34possibly be wrong with it, because at a passing glance it
- 0:38seemed absolutely gorgeous. Then it came to Rob.
- 0:43He had remembered the name from a news broadcast many years ago.
- 0:47Unbeknownst to him and his wife, they were now standing on the
- 0:50very same grounds that were once owned by her Baumeister, the
- 0:55notorious serial killer. They immediately brought this up
- 0:58to the real estate agent who was showing them the property, and
- 1:02were immediately told that that was indeed the case, that the
- 1:06private investor had indeed purchased the estate.
- 1:09From the widow of Herb, following the disturbing
- 1:11discovery of the bodies back in the 1990s, but that it had been
- 1:16completely remodeled from head to toe, removing any and all
- 1:20remnants of what it looked like when the murders had taken place
- 1:24all those years ago. But that's why it was indeed so
- 1:27affordable, because no one wanted to live there.
- 1:30Due to the history. After some further discussion
- 1:34among the couple, they ultimately decided to purchase
- 1:37the property. Within a couple weeks, the
- 1:40family moves in and falls in love with Fox Hollow Farm.
- 1:44The teenage son soon make it a habit to play outside and then
- 1:48wash off in the pool in the basement, soon tracking dirt and
- 1:53gravel all throughout the home. One day, Vicki is vacuuming up
- 1:57the dirt that the boys had brought in from the outside
- 2:00around the pool when suddenly her vacuum loses power,
- 2:05believing that perhaps she had accidentally unplugged it from
- 2:08the outlet. She plugged it back in and
- 2:11continued her work. Within several more minutes it
- 2:15happened again, perplexed this time because she was even more
- 2:19aware and careful about the cord in the outlet.
- 2:22She knew she hadn't unplugged it, so she plugged it back in
- 2:26and triple checked that it wasn't just falling out of the
- 2:28outlet by pulling the cord. Ever more aware this time she
- 2:33goes back to vacuuming, but keeping a present eye on the
- 2:36cord itself. To her amazement, it pulls out
- 2:40on its own, as if someone had grabbed and pulled it out of the
- 2:44socket. Startled, she drops the vacuum
- 2:48and is beside herself. She doesn't know how to make
- 2:50sense of what had just happened, and this would just be the
- 2:54beginning of the strangeness that would occur.
- 2:58Rob worked at a car dealership and one of his employees was a
- 3:02man named Joe. Joe had been a great employee.
- 3:06But had a problem of being chronically late most of the
- 3:08time. As he probed to figure out what
- 3:11was going on. Joe informed Rob that he lived
- 3:14over an hour away and really needed the job, would be willing
- 3:18to move closer if the opportunity presented itself
- 3:21well. Rob thought about it and ended
- 3:24up offering Joe a place to rent. Located on Fox Hollow Farm, they
- 3:28had a guesthouse that they were considering renting out as
- 3:31apartments for quite some time. And this seemed like the perfect
- 3:35opportunity to benefit everyone involved.
- 3:38Joe would indeed move in just a few days later.
- 3:42It takes several hours, but within that time frame they're
- 3:45able to get everything inside and finish the move.
- 3:48Exhausted, Joe decides to retire for the night with his dog Fred.
- 3:53As he lays down to sleep in his newly set up bed, he then finds
- 3:58himself in a horrific nightmare. He's being chased throughout Fox
- 4:02Hollow Farm by something he can't see.
- 4:05The dream is so intense that it causes him to sleepwalk, which
- 4:09wasn't something that he was known to do.
- 4:12He began to run while still dreaming and ran directly into
- 4:16the door frame as he tried to escape the guesthouse.
- 4:20Falling back, he knocked into a nearby glass of water, which
- 4:24fell and shattered, cutting his hands.
- 4:27The impact and cutting of his hands finally woke him up and he
- 4:31was forced to sit back and ponder just what had taken
- 4:34place, and things would only intensify from here.
- 4:39Another day soon after, Rob was painting the side of their helm
- 4:43a different color. As he and his wife remarked on
- 4:45how nice the finished job will be, she spots something out of
- 4:49the corner of her eye. She had seen a man in a red
- 4:53shirt staring at them. As she broke away from her
- 4:56husband and began to approach the figure, it started to walk
- 4:59away from her and quickly disappeared as if it never
- 5:03existed. The couple then called out and
- 5:07checked the perimeter, but never found anyone.
- 5:10They dismissed the person as nothing more than a curious
- 5:13trespasser. I mean, after all, they did
- 5:16purchase a serial killer's home. It has had to accept that
- 5:19curious people may sneak up just to get a look at their home
- 5:23later that night. Joe is doing the dishes in his
- 5:26apartment when he suddenly gets a series of knocks on his front
- 5:30door, telling the person it'll just be a minute.
- 5:34As he dries his hands off to go and answer the door, the series
- 5:38of knocks begin to grow louder and more aggressive.
- 5:42Thinking it was extremely strange or extremely urgent
- 5:46concerning Vicki or Rob, he went and answered the doors.
- 5:49It was still being knocked upon, however, as he opened the door.
- 5:54There was no one to be found automatically on guard, he peers
- 5:59outside. The knocking had been happening
- 6:02when he answered the door, so no person could have got very far
- 6:06while he answered mid knock. He glanced around and yet saw
- 6:11and heard nothing. He stepped outside and began to
- 6:14examine the roof in the nearby areas and still there was
- 6:19nothing thoroughly weirded out at this point.
- 6:23He made his way back inside and bolted the door locked behind
- 6:26him. He started to make his way back
- 6:28to the kitchen to finish doing his dishes when he spotted a man
- 6:32standing in his bedroom staring at him.
- 6:36Upon spotting the figure, his dog begins to growl and make
- 6:40sounds that he's never heard him make before.
- 6:44Staring directly in the direction of the bedroom,
- 6:47already on edge, he ran into the bedroom and flipped the light
- 6:52on. Only to discover that there was
- 6:54again no one there. Searching the entire apartment,
- 7:00he again found nothing. Trying to rationalize and clear
- 7:03his mind, he decided to take his dog Fred for a walk to calm down
- 7:09and unwind for the evening. While on his walk around the
- 7:13property, he thought to check on Rob and Vicky's house to see if
- 7:17the lights were on. This would indicate to him that
- 7:19perhaps they were the ones who had knocked on his door.
- 7:22And therefore he could rest easy and figure out what it was
- 7:26about. The following morning, however,
- 7:29upon arriving at their house, he found it completely blacked out.
- 7:33They had already gone to bed for the night.
- 7:36Fred, who was always a loyal and obedient dog, always walked with
- 7:40him without a leash and would always follow his commands.
- 7:44However, tonight would be a different story.
- 7:48Deciding to head back to his apartment, he motioned for Fred
- 7:51to join him. But the dog would not budge.
- 7:55He suddenly began to growl and then bolted into the nearby tree
- 7:59line. Instinctively, Joe ran after his
- 8:02dog, but not before seeing what his dog was running after before
- 8:07his eyes and the very same tree line was a man in a red shirt.
- 8:12Although he was absolutely terrified, Joe couldn't let
- 8:16anything happen to his beloved dog, so he continued to run
- 8:19towards this man. When suddenly whoever or
- 8:24whatever this was disappeared before his eyes, although
- 8:29slightly behind, he would quickly catch up to Fred and now
- 8:33noticed him not acting aggressive at all, but rather
- 8:37showing his belly in submission, staring in the direction of Joe.
- 8:42Joe, knowing his dog, knew that something very strange had to be
- 8:46up with him, he suddenly felt as if someone was staring directly
- 8:50at him. He slowly turned around to see
- 8:54the apparition of a man in a red shirt with a twisted face
- 8:59staring back at him just several feet away.
- 9:03Joe, as most of us would, ran out of there as fast as he
- 9:07could, his loyal companion following him.
- 9:11The two run as fast as they can, back to the apartment, where
- 9:15they rush inside, lock, and deadbolt the door.
- 9:19And nervously watch out of the blinds for the rest of the
- 9:21night. The following morning, and even
- 9:24more exhausted, Joe makes his way to Vicki and Rob's house to
- 9:27discuss the prior night's events.
- 9:30As he's telling both of them what happened, Vicki starts to
- 9:34become emotional. She too had seen the Man in Red
- 9:37just days earlier. She points to where she saw him,
- 9:41and lo and behold, it's the exact same spot that Joe had
- 9:44encountered the entity the night before.
- 9:47As the day progressed tonight, Joe yet again found himself in
- 9:51his apartment, hoping to finally get some rest.
- 9:55But as he settled down in his bed, he was suddenly startled by
- 9:59knocking at his door as he yelled out who is it?
- 10:03As he made his way towards the door, he didn't receive an
- 10:07audible answer back, just more aggressive knocking at the door.
- 10:12The door itself now is shaking, facing his fear of the unknown.
- 10:18Mid knock, Joe throws the door open only to meet face to face
- 10:24with nothing as he frantically looks around the yard.
- 10:27While holding the door he notices that the doors knocking
- 10:31apparatus is sticking straight out as if someone is holding it.
- 10:37It then drops one last time, knocking the door absolutely
- 10:42petrified. Joe slams the door and locks it.
- 10:46As he tries to catch his breath and take several steps
- 10:49backwards, he sees the doorknob begin to turn.
- 10:53Then, without warning, the door bursts open, shattering the
- 10:57lock. The open door yet again, reveals
- 11:01no one. After a moment of frozen terror,
- 11:05Joe runs outside and into the front yard of his apartment,
- 11:08screaming and searching all around for just who could be
- 11:12doing this? After several minutes, he stares
- 11:15back into the house to the open front door and sees a man
- 11:19dressed in all white standing there.
- 11:21He soaked from head to toe and what appears to be water and is
- 11:25screaming in a muted voice as if he's being held underwater.
- 11:31He then bolts towards Joe and seemingly disappears into a
- 11:35mist, frantically calling out to his dog Fred to accompany him.
- 11:40Joe frantically makes his way to Rob and Vicky's house on the
- 11:42property. He's so terrified that he's
- 11:45shaking now, and Rob and Vicky are just as scared.
- 11:49They now truly believe that they are dealing with something
- 11:51paranormal in nature in order to rationalize the situation and
- 11:56make sense of what was taking place.
- 11:59They begin to believe that they're experiencing the results
- 12:02of the murders conducted by Herb Baumeister and that his victims
- 12:07are either trapped here somehow. Or their energy is stuck in an
- 12:12endless loop, replaying their final and tragic moments over
- 12:17and over and over again, refusing to return to his
- 12:24apartment. Rob and Vicki, being the
- 12:26supportive friends they were, agreed that Joe could stay the
- 12:29night with them and together they would begin researching
- 12:32online to try and formulate some kind of a plan of action of what
- 12:37to do next. As they collectively scour the
- 12:40Balmeister case information, they find themselves looking at
- 12:44the list of identified victims. As they get deeper into the
- 12:48details, Joe is shocked. He stops them on a picture of a
- 12:52man in a white shirt. That was the man I saw in my
- 12:55apartment who was soaked from head to toe and screaming.
- 13:00Although this information still scares them, it does help
- 13:04reassure them that they are indeed dealing with the victims.
- 13:08Of this horrendous tragedy they are especially convinced,
- 13:12considering many of the remains have never been identified, so
- 13:15they continue to research the case.
- 13:18After several uneventful days, Joe finds himself almost
- 13:22compelled to walk around the property with his dog, except
- 13:26this time in broad daylight. So apprehensively he makes his
- 13:31way with Fred to the area where both he and Vicki have seen the
- 13:35man in red on separate occasions.
- 13:38Just past the tree line on The Walking path, Joe is stopped by
- 13:42what looks to be a bone. He believes that it's impossible
- 13:45that such a bone could have been missed during the extensive
- 13:48searches over the years, but nonetheless, it was right here
- 13:53right now, as if it had been placed there for him to
- 13:56discover. Quickly consulting and showing
- 13:59Rob and Vicki the discovery, they too believe that this could
- 14:03be a bone belonging to the mysterious man in red.
- 14:06They ended up contacting the lead detective on the Balmeister
- 14:09case and submitted the bone, which turned out to be a human
- 14:13femur bone in his evidence and for analysis.
- 14:17They then requested if the investigator himself could come
- 14:21out to the property and explained to them just where
- 14:24things had taken place so they could have a better
- 14:26understanding of what happened, to which he obliged.
- 14:31Several days passed and Joe by this point had made his way back
- 14:35to his apartment. To try and settle back in, given
- 14:38the new information while on his computer checking his emails, he
- 14:42began to hear a scraping, almost metallic like sound originating
- 14:47from the kitchen. Upon further examination, he
- 14:51sees that all of his butcher knives from his knife block have
- 14:54been neatly arranged in his sink, placed in a row equally
- 14:59spaced from one another glancing around the room.
- 15:03He spots fresh deep cuts in the wood of the nearby counter
- 15:06cabinet. He believes that this could be a
- 15:09sign for one of the victims crying for help.
- 15:12He starts to try and figure out the mystery.
- 15:16He takes out his phone and begins recording, asking probing
- 15:20questions to whoever or whatever could be there and hopes of
- 15:24helping them in any way that he can.
- 15:27Prior to this, of course, he turned off any and all
- 15:30appliances that could interfere with the process.
- 15:33He begins by asking a series of questions and doesn't seem to
- 15:37get much of anything, at least not audibly.
- 15:41But then, towards the end of his questions, Fred begins to growl,
- 15:45the same eerie growl he had any time they'd experienced
- 15:48something previously, taking this as confirmation that
- 15:51perhaps his companion could see or hear something that he
- 15:55couldn't. He quickly downloads the audio
- 15:58file and begins to listen to it on his computer and to his
- 16:02shock, he did indeed receive a response.
- 16:06This is the clip of the actual EVP that was recorded who keeps
- 16:10walking in the kitchen. He believes he hears the married
- 16:17one, but in all of their research, all of the victims
- 16:21were young, single gay men, the only one who was married.
- 16:26Was one her Baumeister? This revelation is startling.
- 16:31He not only believes that the victims were trapped within the
- 16:34grounds of Fox Hollow Farm, but that perhaps the serial killer
- 16:39himself could to be trapped here.
- 16:42What would follow would be dozens of paranormal
- 16:44investigations, and those investigations would leave the
- 16:48group to believe that they were not only dealing with the
- 16:51spirits of the victims haunting the grounds.
- 16:54But either a dark entity impersonating Baumeister or the
- 16:58killer himself. Several years after the events,
- 17:02the Graves family would end up selling Fox Hollow Farm, and it
- 17:06would continue to change hands over the years since then,
- 17:09leading to multiple new owners of the property.
- 17:12And all the new information doesn't seem to be publicly
- 17:15available. It's still considered one of the
- 17:18most haunted places in Indiana, if not the world.
- 17:22Given its unique and gruesome history, an independent film
- 17:27would go on to be made about it called The Haunting of Fox
- 17:29Hollow Farm and Robert Graves, along with another man named
- 17:34Richard Eustep who led many paranormal investigations at Fox
- 17:38Hollow Farm, who cowrite a book detailing the family's creepy
- 17:42experiences and what they believe to be ultimately
- 17:45happening. So in conclusion, we know that
- 17:49Herb Baumeister was mentally ill ultimately.
- 17:52But what makes this case so strange and so compelling to me
- 17:56is that he was an outstanding member of this community.
- 18:00For the longest time he was the smiling neighbor, the charitable
- 18:04businessman, the happy family man, and overall, a pillar of
- 18:09normalcy. But behind closed doors, his
- 18:13psyche, his soul, contained a darkness that most of us will
- 18:18never be able to comprehend, yet alone unravel.
- 18:22And understand. So could the murderous deeds of
- 18:25a twisted individual trap souls on a property and perhaps open
- 18:30some kind of a portal? Could the unleashing of such
- 18:33energy, like what is expressed in a violent death, contribute
- 18:37to something like this? If it wasn't what's known as an
- 18:40intelligent haunting, or the spirits are aware of what has
- 18:44happened to them and are indeed trapped there, which very well
- 18:47could still be the case. And perhaps it could be a
- 18:51residual haunting where the events are of such magnitude and
- 18:55strength that they play on a loop for all time, but the souls
- 19:00who were involved have long since moved on.
- 19:04These are questions that we may never have answers to, but all
- 19:07things that we should ponder. The one thing is for certain,
- 19:12the malicious calculation of her Baumeister and the horrendous
- 19:15things that he did to the suspected 25 victims.
- 19:19That fox hollow farms should never be forgotten.
- 19:23They are indeed still identifying and using updated
- 19:26technology to identify remains that are still being found on
- 19:30the grounds. This has happened as recent as
- 19:32November of 2022. So if you happen to be a family
- 19:37member of someone that you suspect could be connected to
- 19:40this case, just know that my heart truly does go out to you
- 19:44and please contact the Hamilton County Coroner's Office.
- 19:48At 317-770-4415. Besides remembering what
- 19:55happened, I also urge you to please respect the victims and
- 19:59their families, as well as the family of her baumeister if you
- 20:03should ever have anything to do with them.
- 20:07Thank you all so much for watching.
- 20:09I know this one is a little different from the cases I
- 20:11typically cover here, but it's just such a unique case that it
- 20:14kind of took on a life of its own.
- 20:17And I felt that it was important to get the details as concrete
- 20:20and accurate as I could. So please leave a like tell me
- 20:23what you thought down in the comments below and please share
- 20:27and subscribe. All that truly helps me out so
- 20:29much more than you know. Other than that I hope all of
- 20:32you are doing great As always. I pray that your years off to a
- 20:36wonderful start and I hope your mental health is doing well and
