- 0:00Speaker 1: And we're going to get right to it today because
- 0:02Speaker 1: I have a very special guest, a US Senator Pete
- 0:05Speaker 1: Ricketts is with us today. As you all know, Senator
- 0:08Speaker 1: Ricketts served as the governor of the Great State of Nebraska.
- 0:11Speaker 1: He was a fortieth governor from twenty fifteen to twenty
- 0:14Speaker 1: twenty three, and now he is serving us in the
- 0:17Speaker 1: US Senate. Senator Ricketts, welcome.
- 0:20Speaker 2: Thank you very much, Mayor.
- 0:22Speaker 3: I appreciate the opportunity on Well, we have so much
- 0:25Speaker 3: that we want to talk to you about, and I
- 0:26Speaker 3: know your time is precious and limited, but I'm going
- 0:30Speaker 3: to start out with Iran because I know the President
- 0:32Speaker 3: is speaking tonight in prime time.
- 0:35Speaker 1: We're entering our second month of the conflict I will
- 0:39Speaker 1: call it in Iran, and I think I'm just going
- 0:42Speaker 1: to ask you to start out and tell us what
- 0:44Speaker 1: we need to know. I mean, why is the US
- 0:47Speaker 1: in this conflict with Iran? And you know, what are
- 0:51Speaker 1: our goals? And also when are we going to know
- 0:54Speaker 1: that magic question when we're done? And we really just
- 0:57Speaker 1: want to hear your take on all of it.
- 1:00Speaker 2: This Well, the President just posted on true Socials that
- 1:04Speaker 2: Iran has asked for a cease fire, And obviously there's
- 1:07Speaker 2: a lot that goes between the President making that announcement
- 1:11Speaker 2: and actually getting to the point where ships are going
- 1:14Speaker 2: through the Straits of Hormuz again, but let me start
- 1:17Speaker 2: with what the administration has said from the get go,
- 1:19Speaker 2: which is the goal of this operation is to degrade
- 1:22Speaker 2: Iran's missile capabilities. So one of the things that we
- 1:26Speaker 2: know is that they were producing a lot of missiles
- 1:29Speaker 2: very inexpensively, and at some point that was going to
- 1:31Speaker 2: overwhelm our ability and our allies abilities to defend against them.
- 1:35Speaker 2: And we also now know, after they've launched a missile
- 1:38Speaker 2: at Diego Garcia, that they've got intermediate range missiles that
- 1:41Speaker 2: can reach London in Paris, which means reaching the United
- 1:44Speaker 2: States would not be far behind, perhaps only months away.
- 1:48Speaker 2: And a country that chance dut to America and has
- 1:51Speaker 2: a nuclear weapon and a missile that can reach the
- 1:54Speaker 2: United States is very dangerous. It can never be allowed
- 1:57Speaker 2: to happen. We can never allow rod to have a
- 1:59Speaker 2: nuclear or bomb, and they've alrea admitted they've got enough
- 2:02Speaker 2: nuclear material for ten bombs. We can't let them produce one,
- 2:06Speaker 2: and we can't let them have a missile that could
- 2:08Speaker 2: reach the United States. So degrading those missile facilities, the
- 2:11Speaker 2: storage side, the production facilities are launchers is a big
- 2:15Speaker 2: part of this operation. Continuing to grade their nuclear facilities,
- 2:18Speaker 2: sinking their navy, destroying your air force. Really, that's what
- 2:22Speaker 2: this operation is about. And when the Administration field they've
- 2:25Speaker 2: done it to the point where we've checked iron at
- 2:29Speaker 2: least for this point in time, that's what I expect
- 2:31Speaker 2: they'll draw us to close. It really is about making
- 2:34Speaker 2: sure that Iran cannot do this. And again, if you're wondering,
- 2:38Speaker 2: well why now, and you go back to how much
- 2:41Speaker 2: they've been producing missiles and the fact that actually they
- 2:44Speaker 2: can get one to Europe, it really does present this
- 2:47Speaker 2: as an imminent threat because if they could reach the
- 2:49Speaker 2: United States. Remember, this is a theocracy, and there are
- 2:53Speaker 2: officials in Iran who believe that they can triger armourgain
- 2:56Speaker 2: and they go to heaven. So this is a this
- 2:58Speaker 2: is a problem for us that we're dealing with this
- 3:01Speaker 2: kind of regime and we cannot allow them to have
- 3:03Speaker 2: a nuclear weapon that could reach the United States.
- 3:05Speaker 1: Is there no longer a nuclear program in Iran as
- 3:09Speaker 1: far as we know then, I mean they were saying
- 3:11Speaker 1: ten over ten thousand targets have been decimated. Is that
- 3:16Speaker 1: program been eliminated as far as we know.
- 3:20Speaker 2: Well, we have destroyed their nuclear facilities and buried a
- 3:25Speaker 2: lot of what they've done. You know, what they had
- 3:27Speaker 2: on the ground has been buried by our bombs and
- 3:30Speaker 2: so forth. But what we have to do is continue
- 3:33Speaker 2: to make sure that they don't try to re resurrect that,
- 3:36Speaker 2: because that's exactly what they've been doing since we first
- 3:38Speaker 2: took the constructure nuclear facilities. They have been very stubborn
- 3:43Speaker 2: about going back and trying to do it. And really
- 3:45Speaker 2: we need to put this in perspective as well as
- 3:46Speaker 2: the fact that think they're putting all their resources into
- 3:49Speaker 2: things like a nuclear program in missiles and allowing their
- 3:51Speaker 2: people to suffer. Right what those protests that we saw previously,
- 3:56Speaker 2: where you know, Iran had killed thirty thousand, perhaps thirty
- 3:59Speaker 2: thousand their own people, were sparked by the fact that
- 4:02Speaker 2: they have forty percent inflation, they're running out of water
- 4:05Speaker 2: in place like tron where radio officials suggest that they
- 4:08Speaker 2: move the capitol. I mean, they are really forcing their
- 4:12Speaker 2: people to suffer by not investing in the things that
- 4:15Speaker 2: will create a quality of life with the Ranian people
- 4:17Speaker 2: and putting it into a missile program and a nuclear program.
- 4:21Speaker 2: And so that's what we have to continually do is
- 4:23Speaker 2: make sure they cannot get that done.
- 4:26Speaker 1: It's really known that they know they are not only
- 4:29Speaker 1: killing their own people, but they hate the United States
- 4:32Speaker 1: and they hate Israel, they hate the Jewish people. And
- 4:36Speaker 1: that's something that I think people got to understand when
- 4:39Speaker 1: they're questioning, why are we over there, what's the purpose
- 4:42Speaker 1: of this? I mean, with these no kings rallies that
- 4:45Speaker 1: we were hearing all over the United States this weekend,
- 4:47Speaker 1: it was just baffling to me why these people were saying,
- 4:50Speaker 1: we don't need to be over there. And Senator also
- 4:53Speaker 1: it became an issue also besides the nuclear power of
- 4:57Speaker 1: gasoline and oil. Correct, And that's what's going on on
- 5:00Speaker 1: with the straight of horror moves.
- 5:02Speaker 2: Well. One of the things that we have seen is
- 5:05Speaker 2: that Iran, when they are allowed to profit from their
- 5:09Speaker 2: oil money, they fund state terrorism. The largest state sponsor
- 5:13Speaker 2: of terrorism. They funded Almas, the Hoho Thies, Hesba Lap
- 5:17Speaker 2: and under President Trump's first term, he cut that money off.
- 5:20Speaker 2: In fact, he brought their foreign reserves down to under
- 5:23Speaker 2: fourteen billion dollars and sadly what both President Obama and
- 5:27Speaker 2: President Biden is I mean President Obamas shippedhim by one
- 5:30Speaker 2: point seven billion dollars in cash in palates, I mean
- 5:32Speaker 2: just like said him the cash, and then President Biden
- 5:36Speaker 2: released the sanctions and allowed billions of dollars to flow
- 5:39Speaker 2: to Iran. And both times what we saw when they
- 5:41Speaker 2: got the money, they just continue to fund the terrorism
- 5:44Speaker 2: and ramp that up. So to your point about hating Israel,
- 5:49Speaker 2: absolutely the target has been Israel, but we also know
- 5:52Speaker 2: that the Iranians and a lot of the improvised explosive
- 5:55Speaker 2: devices were targeted Americans. They've killed hundreds, if not thousands
- 5:58Speaker 2: of Americans specifically through what Iran has done to find
- 6:01Speaker 2: to attack Americans. So this is a regime that is very,
- 6:05Speaker 2: very dangerous, which is why we have to continually make
- 6:07Speaker 2: sure that they do not have the capability to harm us,
- 6:10Speaker 2: whether it's cutting off their oil supply, money, making sure
- 6:13Speaker 2: they don't have a nuclear program, making sure they don't
- 6:15Speaker 2: have missiles they can reach the United States. All those
- 6:18Speaker 2: are things that will make sure that we keep Americans safe.
- 6:21Speaker 1: And has there been a regime change in your opinion, it.
- 6:26Speaker 2: Is difficult to say at this point. Obviously, both the
- 6:30Speaker 2: United States and Israel have work to be able to
- 6:33Speaker 2: grade their capabilities, and a lot of their leaders have
- 6:35Speaker 2: been killed as part of the air campaign, but it's
- 6:39Speaker 2: not clear where they are. Obviously, if the President's tweaked
- 6:43Speaker 2: can be followed up on and Iran does ask for
- 6:45Speaker 2: a ceasefire and we can get a more modern regime there,
- 6:48Speaker 2: similar to what President Trump has done in Venezuela, you
- 6:51Speaker 2: know somebody that we can work with that would be
- 6:54Speaker 2: really really good news for not only the region but for.
- 6:58Speaker 1: Our country, and speak a little bit to the President
- 7:01Speaker 1: has expressed his frustration quite often about our allies, particularly France, Spain,
- 7:07Speaker 1: Italy not helping and not helping as far as opening
- 7:10Speaker 1: up the straight of Hormuos in the Persian Gulf too.
- 7:12Speaker 1: Can you speak a little bit about our allies and
- 7:15Speaker 1: them not joining the US like the President would like
- 7:19Speaker 1: them to, because obviously this is a big threat to
- 7:23Speaker 1: them too.
- 7:25Speaker 2: Well. One of the big things that we have that
- 7:27Speaker 2: our adversaries like China and Russia don't have his allies.
- 7:32Speaker 2: And it is puzzling that the European nations who get
- 7:36Speaker 2: a lot of their oil from the least, where as
- 7:38Speaker 2: we really don't. And now that Iran has demonstrated they've
- 7:42Speaker 2: got missiles can reach Paris in London, you would think
- 7:45Speaker 2: that they'd be more interested in getting involved. And we
- 7:47Speaker 2: have seen, for example, the UK doing a better job
- 7:51Speaker 2: of getting engaged in this. I would like to see
- 7:55Speaker 2: more participation. I would like to see countries like Spain
- 7:58Speaker 2: that have banned their to US reverse their policy. So
- 8:02Speaker 2: I do think there's more work we need to do
- 8:04Speaker 2: with our European allies to get them engaged, because I
- 8:07Speaker 2: do think they've got invested interest in making sure this
- 8:10Speaker 2: is a peaceful regional world.
- 8:12Speaker 1: Absolutely, and you know I want to switch gears. Well
- 8:15Speaker 1: we got you just for a few seconds. Can you
- 8:17Speaker 1: speak a little bit on I just continue to question
- 8:20Speaker 1: why the Democrats do not want to pass the Save Act.
- 8:24Speaker 1: I mean the reports and the articles I have written.
- 8:27Speaker 1: At least seventy to eighty percent of Americans support this.
- 8:31Speaker 1: Why won't the Senate pass that bill to secure elections?
- 8:35Speaker 1: It's about voter ID and it just I think it
- 8:39Speaker 1: baffles everybody that I have talked to why this can't
- 8:43Speaker 1: be passed. Can we have your your thoughts on that too?
- 8:47Speaker 2: I believe the Senate Democrats are just so in control
- 8:49Speaker 2: by their far left wing base. To your point, this
- 8:53Speaker 2: is a majority issue on just about anybody you poll,
- 8:56Speaker 2: whether it's Republicans, Democrats, you know, pick your group of people. Look,
- 9:03Speaker 2: having voter ID is just common sense, right. We passed
- 9:06Speaker 2: it here Nebraska sixty five thirty five, but it was
- 9:08Speaker 2: on the ballot. And I don't know anybody who's arguing
- 9:11Speaker 2: that we should allow non citizens to vote in elections.
- 9:15Speaker 2: But sadly, we actually have communities in places like Maryland
- 9:18Speaker 2: and Vermont in California where they actually do allow non
- 9:21Speaker 2: citizens to vote in municipal elections, illegal in federal elections.
- 9:25Speaker 2: But that begs the question is, well, what are you
- 9:28Speaker 2: doing to stop those people you're allowing to vote that
- 9:30Speaker 2: are here illegally to vote in municipal elections to vote
- 9:35Speaker 2: in federal elections. It's yeah, so, and one of the
- 9:41Speaker 2: other things that you know, the Democrats have said they're
- 9:43Speaker 2: for voter ID, but when we've given the opportunity to
- 9:46Speaker 2: vote for it, they've voted against it. In fact, they say, well,
- 9:48Speaker 2: we don't mean voter ID like a picture, we mean
- 9:51Speaker 2: voter ID like an envelope. Like from your utility bill.
- 9:55Speaker 2: It's got your name on it, and of course everybody
- 9:58Speaker 2: knows you can't take a utility bill and get on
- 10:00Speaker 2: airplane and fly anywhere in this country. Well, it really
- 10:02Speaker 2: is disingenuous when the Democrats stated or four O voter ID,
- 10:05Speaker 2: because they're really not. And that's really what's driving this.
- 10:08Speaker 2: And to your point, you know, in the Senate, we
- 10:10Speaker 2: need sixty votes to pass just about everything, and that
- 10:13Speaker 2: means we need Democrat help to do it. And while
- 10:16Speaker 2: the Democrats have been saying they're for voter ID and
- 10:19Speaker 2: so forth, they have not been willing to vote for
- 10:21Speaker 2: any of the measures we put up to be able
- 10:23Speaker 2: to give them opportunity to show that real voter ID
- 10:26Speaker 2: to protect our election in Jegory is something that they're
- 10:29Speaker 2: willing to support.
- 10:30Speaker 1: Absolutely. It's just a way for the state to keep
- 10:32Speaker 1: the voter rolls clean. People that have moved, people that
- 10:35Speaker 1: have died, people that are illegal. One last question, I
- 10:39Speaker 1: want to go back to Iran, and then I know
- 10:40Speaker 1: you're busy, I'll let you go. But do you think
- 10:43Speaker 1: that we will ever be able to achieve peace or
- 10:46Speaker 1: stability in the Middle East?
- 10:50Speaker 2: Well, if you look what President Trump is done with
- 10:52Speaker 2: the Abraham Accords, and especially I do think that this
- 10:56Speaker 2: conflict gives us a real opportunity because the Gulf States
- 11:00Speaker 2: have seen the real danger iron presents and it's going
- 11:04Speaker 2: to hopefully be up to the people of Iran to
- 11:06Speaker 2: overthrow this tyrannical regime that they have. But if we
- 11:10Speaker 2: can get that step done, or at least a more
- 11:14Speaker 2: moderate regime in Iran that is going to start looking
- 11:17Speaker 2: out for the good of its people rather than pursuing
- 11:19Speaker 2: these charitable policies of having a nuclear weapon in a
- 11:22Speaker 2: missile look at region the United States. I do believe
- 11:24Speaker 2: that we are a point where we can start bringing
- 11:27Speaker 2: together some of the Gulf nations with Israel like some
- 11:31Speaker 2: of them already have, and that we can really get
- 11:34Speaker 2: to a place where we can start focusing on the
- 11:35Speaker 2: prosperity the people in the region and not some of
- 11:38Speaker 2: the conflicts we've got in the past.
- 11:40Speaker 1: Senator, thanks so much for being with us today. How's
- 11:43Speaker 1: the campaign going good?
- 11:46Speaker 2: Yep. We're just continuing to work hard, get out across
- 11:48Speaker 2: the state, talk to folks about the things we're doing.
- 11:51Speaker 2: The Working Families tax cut is putting more money back
- 11:53Speaker 2: in people's pockets. We've secured the borders to keep our
- 11:57Speaker 2: streets safer. And of course we're working on defending our
- 12:01Speaker 2: country by investing in our military and deterring our adversaries
- 12:03Speaker 2: like China Russia strike. So we're going to keep our
- 12:07Speaker 2: country safe in our nationally as well well.
- 12:08Speaker 1: We certainly appreciate your service. I certainly appreciate your service
- 12:11Speaker 1: as governor and now as US Senator. Good luck. Thank
- 12:14Speaker 1: you so much for being on the show today. We
- 12:16Speaker 1: really appreciate it.
- 12:18Speaker 2: All right, Thanks Verry, you have a good one.
- 12:19Speaker 1: Thank you. So now we want to hear from you,
- 12:24Speaker 1: you know about what what Senator Ricketts has said. It's
- 12:28Speaker 1: your chance to speak up, sound off. Send your emails
- 12:31Speaker 1: to comment at kfab dot com, or you could call
- 12:34Speaker 1: us at four oh two five five, eight eleven ten.
- 12:38Speaker 1: Very good Gene, Good morning, Good morning, April Fool's Day,
- 12:42Speaker 1: April Fools Day. Okay, I have a joke for you.
- 12:45Speaker 1: I'm bad at jokes. Let's hear it. Not who's there? Noah?
- 12:49Speaker 4: Noah?
- 12:50Speaker 1: Who Noah? Any good April Fools jokes. That's pretty bad.
- 12:55Speaker 1: I can't remember a joke. I'm really bad. I have
- 12:58Speaker 1: one more. Okay, I have one more. If April showers
- 13:03Speaker 1: bring May flowers, what do May flowers bring June sun pilgrims?
- 13:11Speaker 1: Ha ha. We need that laugh thing that you could
- 13:15Speaker 1: put in here. Those are my jokes for today. I'm done.
- 13:18Speaker 1: I'm done with April fools now.
- 13:22Speaker 5: I know there.
- 13:24Speaker 1: Okay, I'm bad at jokes, and I'm not going to
- 13:27Speaker 1: bring up why why you know if six is afraid
- 13:30Speaker 1: of seven wise whatever that joke is. My grandson tells
- 13:33Speaker 1: me that joke all the time. Seven eight nine. I
- 13:36Speaker 1: know that's it. But thank you all for being with
- 13:39Speaker 1: us today. And I really want to thank Senator Ricketts too, because, boy,
- 13:43Speaker 1: I tell you, I watch the news every day. I
- 13:46Speaker 1: read the Wall Street Journal every single day to try
- 13:49Speaker 1: to keep up with what is going on in the
- 13:50Speaker 1: world and what is going on in DC. And DC
- 13:53Speaker 1: can be crazy town, and it is today. I mean
- 13:56Speaker 1: that the President is at the at the at the
- 14:01Speaker 1: he's hearing right now in the in the Supreme Court,
- 14:06Speaker 1: and there is a huge he's at the hearing in
- 14:08Speaker 1: the Supreme Court and they're hearing a citizenship case and
- 14:12Speaker 1: Trump is in attendance, and there are protesters outside the
- 14:16Speaker 1: Supreme Court building, like crazy protesting no kings and everything else. So,
- 14:21Speaker 1: like I said, it can be really crazy town down there.
- 14:24Speaker 1: But it's very interesting to me to hear are different
- 14:28Speaker 1: elected officials and in their support of what is going on,
- 14:32Speaker 1: because their knowledge is so broad about what is going on,
- 14:35Speaker 1: especially in the Middle East, and we're there to try
- 14:38Speaker 1: to protect us. I mean, the threat of Iran having
- 14:42Speaker 1: nuclear weapons and nuclear powers that can get to the
- 14:45Speaker 1: United States is all the reason in the entire world
- 14:48Speaker 1: for us to be in this conflict that we are
- 14:51Speaker 1: in now. And I do call it a conflict, not
- 14:53Speaker 1: a war because Congress declares a war. That's where we're
- 14:57Speaker 1: at right now.
- 14:57Speaker 6: I have Pete on the phone line, and like miss
- 15:00Speaker 6: Jane said earlier, you can reach out to us four
- 15:02Speaker 6: oh two, five five, eight eleven ten or email us
- 15:06Speaker 6: comment at KFAP dot com. Pete, thanks for calling the
- 15:10Speaker 6: Genes' author show.
- 15:11Speaker 1: You are live.
- 15:12Speaker 5: Good morning, Good morning, Marria. Jeane.
- 15:15Speaker 4: My name is also Pete. But I have a lot
- 15:17Speaker 4: more hair and a lot less money than the last.
- 15:21Speaker 1: He'd appreciate that, I'm sure.
- 15:24Speaker 7: Oh yeah, I like the hair.
- 15:26Speaker 4: Hey, so this actually relates to Senator but then Governor
- 15:29Speaker 4: Ricketts and the Save Act. So I think it was
- 15:32Speaker 4: like twenty fifteen. Senator Ricketts was then Governor Ricketts, and
- 15:36Speaker 4: he vetoted a bill in the legislature which granted the
- 15:42Speaker 4: driver's licenses to certain legal immigrants, a lot of them
- 15:46Speaker 4: I think were eligible, you know for the DACA program.
- 15:50Speaker 7: Yes, And you know I've only ever.
- 15:53Speaker 4: Reached her devote through the DMB when I got my
- 15:56Speaker 4: driver's license, like that was the only way.
- 15:59Speaker 7: So now use the sport the Stave Act.
- 16:00Speaker 4: But you also very much, very publicly and very vocally
- 16:04Speaker 4: supported giving driver's licenses to illegal aliens. Do you know,
- 16:09Speaker 4: first what do we do to make sure that these
- 16:12Speaker 4: illegal aliens who get driver's licenses by law that you supported,
- 16:16Speaker 4: How do we know they're not registering the vote? And
- 16:19Speaker 4: what are we doing there? Maybe you know, maybe you don't,
- 16:22Speaker 4: but also have your thoughts on that the whole thing
- 16:25Speaker 4: changed at all.
- 16:27Speaker 1: No, you know that's not quite accurate what you're saying,
- 16:30Speaker 1: because what I said I supported was the DACA, especially
- 16:33Speaker 1: the students, to be able to get driver's licenses because
- 16:38Speaker 1: you know that so many of them, they're not really
- 16:41Speaker 1: considered DACA of being here illegally, they do have legal
- 16:46Speaker 1: status to be in school, and what I said is,
- 16:49Speaker 1: you know, we had some of these DACA students in
- 16:52Speaker 1: our universities that were in studying architecture and in studying law,
- 16:58Speaker 1: and they weren't able to drive a car. And that's
- 17:01Speaker 1: what concerned me. And I thought, if they had that status,
- 17:04Speaker 1: I would support them having driver's license too, But there
- 17:09Speaker 1: was a lot of caveats that went along with that.
- 17:12Speaker 1: I mean, they had to prove that they were a
- 17:14Speaker 1: DACA individual. Now I didn't say that I supported all
- 17:17Speaker 1: illegals having driver's license. I never said that, and I
- 17:20Speaker 1: never came out and said that. So the thing with
- 17:22Speaker 1: the Save Act, you know, it's baffling to me. Like
- 17:26Speaker 1: I said, all the national polls show that at least
- 17:29Speaker 1: eighty percent of Republicans and seventy percent of Democrats support
- 17:34Speaker 1: the Save Act, which is just supplying some sort of
- 17:38Speaker 1: id like Senator Rickett said, it doesn't have to be
- 17:41Speaker 1: a drive like a birth certificate. Although it baffled me
- 17:47Speaker 1: too when somebody like Bernie Sanders was out there saying
- 17:50Speaker 1: on national News, I don't know where my birth certificate is.
- 17:54Speaker 1: I don't know where to get it. And I'm thinking,
- 17:56Speaker 1: what I mean, I think everybody knows if you lose
- 18:00Speaker 1: your birth certificate, if you lose your marriage license, you
- 18:02Speaker 1: go to the county where you are married or born,
- 18:04Speaker 1: and you have asked for a duplicate. I mean, it's
- 18:06Speaker 1: pretty darn easy to get id. But as Senator Ricketts said,
- 18:11Speaker 1: they're just asking, you know, I mean, can you show
- 18:14Speaker 1: a utility bill something to show that you are a
- 18:19Speaker 1: US citizen and you should be legally able to vote.
- 18:22Speaker 1: It's to keep those voter rolls clean. I mean, there
- 18:26Speaker 1: are people that have moved, there are people that are dead,
- 18:28Speaker 1: there are people that are illegal, and why wouldn't people
- 18:32Speaker 1: want to support keeping the integrity of our election system
- 18:36Speaker 1: and to secure it. That's why I don't understand why
- 18:39Speaker 1: there's this opposition to the Save Act. They're saying, we're
- 18:41Speaker 1: trying to enfranchise voters to decrease the number of voters.
- 18:46Speaker 1: That's what a lot of the Democrats are saying, and
- 18:48Speaker 1: that just is not accurate.
- 18:50Speaker 6: I got an email here from Doug. He's given you
- 18:53Speaker 6: a few good questions in the past, and this is
- 18:55Speaker 6: what he has to say abou voter id Gene. I
- 18:57Speaker 6: believe the biggest reason the Democratic Party is always going
- 19:00Speaker 6: to resist voter id is because they depend heavily on
- 19:03Speaker 6: voting harvesting. They want the ability to harvest nursing home,
- 19:06Speaker 6: prison school, homeless shelters under the disguise of we're just
- 19:10Speaker 6: here to help. This is the greater This is the
- 19:12Speaker 6: greatest voter frog that goes unchecked, absolutely and I agree
- 19:17Speaker 6: with that. So agree with that caller right there.
- 19:20Speaker 1: Love it.
- 19:21Speaker 6: Thank you for the email, Doug. You can reach us
- 19:22Speaker 6: too at comment at kfab dot com. Let's get to
- 19:25Speaker 6: one more phone call. We got John on the line,
- 19:27Speaker 6: John your Live with Jean's author here on news radio
- 19:29Speaker 6: eleven to ten KFAB.
- 19:32Speaker 5: Mayor. I like to differ with you and the Senator
- 19:36Speaker 5: on I think the misinformation that you guys be putting
- 19:39Speaker 5: out about what Democrats believe and what Democrats don't believe.
- 19:44Speaker 5: I have no problem and I'm a two Democrat and
- 19:47Speaker 5: I want to just say one thing. I did vote
- 19:49Speaker 5: for you when your first term because I like what
- 19:51Speaker 5: you were saying, just like you just got through saying
- 19:54Speaker 5: about the doctor. If you don't come up with something
- 19:57Speaker 5: that's realistic to try to get people into this country,
- 20:01Speaker 5: which we need them, and you know it, I know
- 20:03Speaker 5: it and recognore it. But to keep using these people,
- 20:07Speaker 5: all the people that maybe not be legit as y'all
- 20:11Speaker 5: would call it. We need to get them on the
- 20:14Speaker 5: road some kind of way. And I don't know why
- 20:16Speaker 5: no one is trying to put forth a path for
- 20:20Speaker 5: that and work on that. And one other thing here.
- 20:23Speaker 5: I don't care about the idea. I show my driver
- 20:27Speaker 5: license every day, but that's not the thing. You know
- 20:30Speaker 5: it and recognore it. They are talking about birth certificate
- 20:35Speaker 5: that not only the birth of it. They're talking about passport,
- 20:39Speaker 5: all of these kind of things. And then you and
- 20:42Speaker 5: being a married woman, you can have a name change.
- 20:44Speaker 5: It's a lot more to it. And I wish you
- 20:47Speaker 5: guys would put all the information out there other than
- 20:50Speaker 5: dropping these little Republican talking point to try to make
- 20:54Speaker 5: someone stay on Donald Trump's side, which I totally disagree with.
- 21:00Speaker 1: Let me ask you a question. Do you believe then
- 21:02Speaker 1: in open borders? Do you believe that anybody should be
- 21:05Speaker 1: able to come into the country that wants to legal
- 21:08Speaker 1: or not? Do you support that?
- 21:11Speaker 5: I have never said anything like that. I don't think
- 21:13Speaker 5: any Democrats say anything.
- 21:15Speaker 1: I'm just asking the questions.
- 21:17Speaker 5: Yeah, that's a question. But only thing that I'm saying
- 21:19Speaker 5: about that is this anybody who is leaving an oppressed
- 21:23Speaker 5: government and trying to get into this country, and if
- 21:26Speaker 5: they can pull that, then they should go through a
- 21:29Speaker 5: system like we already have said. Up. I agree, that's
- 21:32Speaker 5: the way it should be.
- 21:33Speaker 1: I agree because you know, there is a lot of
- 21:35Speaker 1: people in this United States that have immigrated from other
- 21:39Speaker 1: countries on all of our coast that went through the
- 21:43Speaker 1: proper process. They don't like the idea of people just
- 21:47Speaker 1: being able to come in here illegally and be able
- 21:50Speaker 1: to do things like vote. They don't agree with it either.
- 21:54Speaker 5: But ma'aw, here's what I'm saying to you, though, you
- 21:57Speaker 5: have to change the system because the way the Constitution reads,
- 22:01Speaker 5: any one reaches American soul can ask for asylum.
- 22:04Speaker 1: You know that for a period of time.
- 22:08Speaker 5: Well I know that, But you have to then increase
- 22:11Speaker 5: the judgeship that would look at those cases. And I
- 22:14Speaker 5: know it's a back law, but that's not those people's fault.
- 22:18Speaker 5: But vote as America.
- 22:20Speaker 1: Do you think they should be able to vote? Do
- 22:22Speaker 1: you think illegal should be all?
- 22:24Speaker 5: That's see, that's that's water under the bridge. Now. I
- 22:27Speaker 5: don't think no one that's not legal here should be
- 22:29Speaker 5: able to vote. I don't have a problem with ID,
- 22:32Speaker 5: but you just have two miny. Donald Trump has put
- 22:35Speaker 5: two many caveats on top of that ID that thirty
- 22:39Speaker 5: six states in the United States right now that you
- 22:42Speaker 5: have to have an ID to vote. A picture I
- 22:44Speaker 5: d so we got. Now he want to give a
- 22:47Speaker 5: birth certificate, all this stuff here to prove that you're officien. Look, man,
- 22:51Speaker 5: this man married someone from out of the country. Have
- 22:54Speaker 5: everybody any check to see if she was legal? How
- 22:57Speaker 5: did she give you? What did she do? Well?
- 23:00Speaker 1: You know what, I appreciate. I appreciate your Colin. I
- 23:03Speaker 1: appreciate your passion, I really do. And I thank you
- 23:07Speaker 1: for calling today. I know, and that's why we're here.
- 23:10Speaker 1: I mean, we want to hear what you have to
- 23:12Speaker 1: say about these issues. That's why I had Senator Ricketts
- 23:14Speaker 1: on too. I want to know what do you agree?
- 23:16Speaker 1: Do you disagree? And it's fine to disagree with me too,
- 23:20Speaker 1: But so thank you for Colin. But I wanted to
- 23:22Speaker 1: bring up, just for a second, when I said mentioned
- 23:25Speaker 1: DACA before, explain what it is in case you don't remember,
- 23:29Speaker 1: But DACA stance or DACA for Deferred Action for childhood arrivals,
- 23:34Speaker 1: and this is a US immigration policy, and it allows
- 23:38Speaker 1: some individuals who were physically present in the United States
- 23:42Speaker 1: with no lawful immigration status after entered the country as
- 23:46Speaker 1: children and after at least five years to receive a
- 23:50Speaker 1: renewable two year period of deferred action for deportation. That's
- 23:55Speaker 1: what DACA is. And they could be eligible for employment
- 24:00Speaker 1: with an authorized document, and they could be eligible to
- 24:02Speaker 1: go to school. And so I'm saying that they have
- 24:05Speaker 1: received this renewable deferred action from deportation. And my point was,
- 24:12Speaker 1: if they are here and they are working, are they're
- 24:14Speaker 1: here in going to school, why not allow them to
- 24:18Speaker 1: have a driver's license while they are here under that status? Peyton,
- 24:22Speaker 1: were you listening to that crazy Scott Vorhees earlier this
- 24:26Speaker 1: morning when he was talking like he was on public
- 24:28Speaker 1: radio NPR. Scott wasn't here this morning, vot spore, he's
- 24:33Speaker 1: here and juicy, that was so funny. I was listening
- 24:39Speaker 1: to him driving in here today and it was hilarious.
- 24:41Speaker 1: But before we take our next calls, we're going to
- 24:44Speaker 1: the moon. I think that's so exciting. You know, I
- 24:47Speaker 1: used to live I moved here to Omaha from Texas.
- 24:52Speaker 1: I think people don't know that because they think I
- 24:55Speaker 1: moved here from Saint Louis, But I had lived down
- 24:57Speaker 1: in Texas Galveston, which is an island in the Gulf,
- 25:00Speaker 1: for nine years. But I took my kids to the
- 25:03Speaker 1: Johnson Space Center it was called then NASA numerous times.
- 25:08Speaker 1: In fact, that's where my son, he was really little,
- 25:10Speaker 1: discovered dippin' dots. You know what dippin' dots are? I
- 25:13Speaker 1: know he loves dippin' dots to this day. But anyway,
- 25:16Speaker 1: we're going to the Moon tonight, hopefully if weather holes out.
- 25:19Speaker 1: It looks like the weather is good down at NASA.
- 25:22Speaker 1: Artemis two is set to go around the Moon, and
- 25:25Speaker 1: I think this is so exciting. You know, the last
- 25:28Speaker 1: time we had a lunar spaceflight was in nineteen seventy two. Now, Peyton,
- 25:36Speaker 1: that is the year. Wait to hear this, I graduated
- 25:38Speaker 1: from high school. You were not born, your parents were
- 25:41Speaker 1: probably not born, just about I know it. But nineteen
- 25:45Speaker 1: seventy two is the last time that we had they
- 25:48Speaker 1: had high school. Yeah, yeah, they did, ha ha, Yes,
- 25:52Speaker 1: that little schoolhouse that I went to. But it's the
- 25:56Speaker 1: was the deepest human spaceflight it will be since the
- 25:59Speaker 1: fine Apollo lunar landing in nineteen seventy two. So it's
- 26:04Speaker 1: the ship is going to go up. It's going up
- 26:06Speaker 1: with a crew of four, and they're not going to
- 26:09Speaker 1: orbit the Moon. They're just going to take a loop
- 26:12Speaker 1: around the Moon. And they're testing out a lot of
- 26:16Speaker 1: issues and things that are on that ship, from the
- 26:20Speaker 1: ship itself to just doing a lot of different tests
- 26:24Speaker 1: while they're up there. And it's really I think the
- 26:28Speaker 1: astronauts are going to evaluate how Orion will fly, they're
- 26:32Speaker 1: going to practice emergency procedures, they're going to capture images
- 26:36Speaker 1: of the far side of the Moon. I just think
- 26:38Speaker 1: it's really exciting. It's a ten day trip and they
- 26:41Speaker 1: should be launching off sometime this evening six o'clock Eastern time.
- 26:46Speaker 6: Yeah, we were looking about into it a little bit yesterday.
- 26:49Speaker 6: Five point twenty four is when it opens, and it's
- 26:52Speaker 6: about two hour window, but we had sorry we Chris
- 26:56Speaker 6: Baker had our very own Nebraska astronaut Layton Anderson on
- 27:01Speaker 6: the show last week to talk about this and heat
- 27:04Speaker 6: and this is on Chris Baker's podcast page. A trip
- 27:07Speaker 6: around the Moon very interesting. He talks all about it.
- 27:10Speaker 6: He's a very very cool guy.
- 27:12Speaker 1: He was on the space station. He is, but we're
- 27:14Speaker 1: going to.
- 27:14Speaker 6: Have that pulled up this afternoon. We might see if
- 27:16Speaker 6: we can catch it live. It depends though we may
- 27:19Speaker 6: you know, it might not happen.
- 27:20Speaker 1: And just think about this when it returns to the
- 27:24Speaker 1: Earth's atmosphere. Listen to this. This is amazing. Orion is
- 27:28Speaker 1: going to be flying at twenty five thousand miles an
- 27:32Speaker 1: hour and it will reach temperatures of at least five
- 27:35Speaker 1: thousand degrees. Isn't that just amazing? It's just amazing. And
- 27:40Speaker 1: they said early this or I was listening to the
- 27:42Speaker 1: news early this morning and they said the astronauts weren't
- 27:45Speaker 1: going to get up till about nine o'clock. And I thought, man,
- 27:48Speaker 1: if I was one of those astronauts, I would have
- 27:50Speaker 1: a hard time sleep last night. Oh yeah. And then
- 27:52Speaker 1: they said they will have breakfast, and I'm thinking, I
- 27:54Speaker 1: don't know how much breakfast I would eat if I
- 27:57Speaker 1: was going to be launched up into and with a
- 28:00Speaker 1: rocket up into space. But good luck to them. I
- 28:03Speaker 1: think it's a fly to many first, and I think
- 28:06Speaker 1: everybody will be tuned in to see the incredible pictures
- 28:09Speaker 1: are going to be sending that.
- 28:10Speaker 6: I'm looking forward to it, and we will definitely keep
- 28:12Speaker 6: you updated here on Omaha's news, weather and traffic station,
- 28:16Speaker 6: News Radio eleven ten KFAB. Let's jump to the phone lines.
- 28:19Speaker 6: We got Brett on the phone line. You're talking to
- 28:21Speaker 6: Gene st Author here on news radio eleven tent kfab.
- 28:24Speaker 8: Good morning, Good morning, Gene. How's it going?
- 28:27Speaker 1: Really good? Thank you.
- 28:30Speaker 8: So I just want to push back on Senator Ricketts.
- 28:33Speaker 8: I'm a staunch conservative, and there's three bullet points I
- 28:36Speaker 8: want to make, and so the first is about to
- 28:38Speaker 8: say act they could have passed it. There were mechanisms
- 28:42Speaker 8: they could have done. It's obviously an overwhelming issue that
- 28:48Speaker 8: most Americans will agree on. So I'm disappointed in that.
- 28:54Speaker 1: I am just to add I am too. I am too.
- 28:57Speaker 1: That's why I ask it. I don't understand why that
- 29:01Speaker 1: bill can't be passed, Why the Senate won't pass that bill.
- 29:04Speaker 8: Yeah, exactly to the previous callers point. Not to disparage
- 29:09Speaker 8: that gentleman, but I think he should look up some
- 29:11Speaker 8: history about the party that he supports, especially in regard
- 29:16Speaker 8: to immigration. You can go back to the late sixties
- 29:19Speaker 8: Walter Mondale, who would eventually be the Democrat nominee for
- 29:24Speaker 8: president and Walter excuse me, Ralph Abernathy, who was mlk's
- 29:29Speaker 8: right hand man. Those two gentlemen went to the southern
- 29:32Speaker 8: border in the late sixties to protest illegal immigrations. So
- 29:37Speaker 8: the party has changed his position. I would just encourage
- 29:40Speaker 8: him to do some research about what he's talking about.
- 29:44Speaker 8: And then the second bullet points real quick Hr. Seven
- 29:48Speaker 8: to one four seven, which was the Homeland Security Bill
- 29:52Speaker 8: for continuing appropriations that the Senate kind of skipped town on.
- 29:57Speaker 8: You know, it was passed at three o'clock in the morning.
- 30:01Speaker 8: Nobody was there to vote, and no Republican senator opposed it.
- 30:06Speaker 8: There were four or five of them who showed up.
- 30:08Speaker 8: I don't think Senator Ricketts or Senator Fisher was one
- 30:12Speaker 8: of them. And basically they discount out and said, okay,
- 30:15Speaker 8: well we'll fund TSA, but we're gonna, we're gonna, we're
- 30:20Speaker 8: gonna take some money from home, from ICE and from
- 30:25Speaker 8: CBP to do so. And I think that's just there's
- 30:29Speaker 8: no explanation, there's no statements from any of their offices.
- 30:32Speaker 8: And then the last thing, which is most important to
- 30:34Speaker 8: me because I have a step daughter, I have a
- 30:37Speaker 8: fourteen year old son, and everybody talks about affordability. The
- 30:43Speaker 8: Congressional Budget Office came out their annual or semi quarterly
- 30:48Speaker 8: report in February shows that our deficit in Washington's going
- 30:54Speaker 8: to go from one point nine trillion to three point
- 30:58Speaker 8: one trillion by twenty thirty six, and our cumulative deficit
- 31:02Speaker 8: we're going to run and add up another twenty three
- 31:05Speaker 8: to twenty four trillion dollars in debt over the next decade.
- 31:10Speaker 8: Medicare is going to they say, is going to be insolvent.
- 31:12Speaker 8: I mean, my feeling is it's insolvent already. The same
- 31:16Speaker 8: thing for Social Security. And I don't hear any conservative
- 31:21Speaker 8: who claims to be fiscally responsible talk about any of
- 31:26Speaker 8: these things, and so it's very, very disappointing. My opinion
- 31:29Speaker 8: at this point is they're comfortable being in the minority.
- 31:33Speaker 8: They can't lead. I think Leader Thuon is not good.
- 31:39Speaker 8: When I called Senator Fisher's office to see who and
- 31:43Speaker 8: Ricketts who they're going to support, it wasn't Scott, it
- 31:45Speaker 8: wasn't Thune. They couldn't say. But they can't lead. They
- 31:48Speaker 8: can't pass bills that matter to informed citizens, and they
- 31:54Speaker 8: can't see the mass dislocation with debt that's coming. So
- 31:58Speaker 8: I appreciate you letting me making those points, and I
- 32:01Speaker 8: hope you have a good Easter weekend.
- 32:03Speaker 1: Well, thank you. Happy Easter to you too. And I
- 32:05Speaker 1: you know, a lot of what you said, the bullet
- 32:07Speaker 1: points you said, I agree with if Senator Ricketts was
- 32:10Speaker 1: limited on his time he had with us today. But
- 32:13Speaker 1: I had my little list of questions I was gonna address,
- 32:16Speaker 1: and one of them was to ask him about why
- 32:20Speaker 1: that DHS is not being funded. I mean, I don't
- 32:24Speaker 1: understand it either. Homeland Security. Why why the Democrats have
- 32:28Speaker 1: been blocking and they have so you know, this to
- 32:32Speaker 1: me is another thing that is mind boggling, because ICE
- 32:36Speaker 1: is now being not ice, but TSA is now being
- 32:39Speaker 1: paid the travel I was going to ask him about
- 32:42Speaker 1: that too, Senator Ricketts, but it seems like a lot
- 32:44Speaker 1: of that with the long waits has been resolved, but
- 32:47Speaker 1: still DHS is still not funded and why is that
- 32:51Speaker 1: being blocked? I don't understand that at all either. Your
- 32:54Speaker 1: point about the US government the deficit, it is mind boggling.
- 32:59Speaker 1: I mean to go up to when you talk about trillions,
- 33:03Speaker 1: it's just it's hard to fathom really, the Mayor of
- 33:08Speaker 1: Omaha is responsible for the City of Omaha's budget, and
- 33:11Speaker 1: I did twelve budgets, and the mayor is responsible for
- 33:15Speaker 1: not only doing the budget and getting it approved, but
- 33:18Speaker 1: also for managing it throughout the year. And we are
- 33:21Speaker 1: not allowed to go into a deficit. We have to
- 33:24Speaker 1: have that budget balance to the penny, and it is
- 33:26Speaker 1: balanced to the penny January first, and it has to
- 33:29Speaker 1: be balanced to the penny December thirty first. We can't
- 33:33Speaker 1: let it go into a deficit. And how the US
- 33:36Speaker 1: government can continue doing that and threatening programs like Social
- 33:40Speaker 1: Security and Medicare is beyond me. And we need to
- 33:45Speaker 1: talk to our US senators and our congressman more about
- 33:48Speaker 1: that and say, explain to us what is happening and
- 33:52Speaker 1: what can government do to make us solvent again? And
- 33:56Speaker 1: is it ever possible?
- 33:58Speaker 6: Gene, you always got an Omaha World Here edition right
- 34:00Speaker 6: in front of in the mornings.
- 34:02Speaker 2: I do.
- 34:02Speaker 1: I read it, you know, I tell you, I read
- 34:04Speaker 1: it every morning, and then I get mad, but then
- 34:05Speaker 1: I read it again. I read the Wall Street Journal
- 34:08Speaker 1: in the World Herald every day just to keep up
- 34:10Speaker 1: with what's going on. Front page today it says headline
- 34:13Speaker 1: city investigated sinkhole site months before the collapse. That's the
- 34:17Speaker 1: one at sixty seventh in Pacific that two cars were
- 34:21Speaker 1: just bam. I mean, that video is amazing to watch.
- 34:24Speaker 1: They just disappeared and it's kind of interesting to watch
- 34:28Speaker 1: that and you see the two cars right behind them
- 34:30Speaker 1: and they just slowly back up like I'm getting out
- 34:32Speaker 1: of here. But you know, I just want to say,
- 34:34Speaker 1: as a former mayor of Omaha for twelve years, there
- 34:38Speaker 1: are crack streets everywhere in Omaha. We have over five
- 34:43Speaker 1: thousand lane miles a road in Omaha, and the city
- 34:47Speaker 1: Public Works Department does a fantastic job and they're always
- 34:51Speaker 1: looking at areas where there are cracks. They are always
- 34:54Speaker 1: looking at areas that we have. Like I said, some
- 34:56Speaker 1: places in Omaha have sewer lines that are one hundred,
- 35:00Speaker 1: one hundred and twenty years old that have been there
- 35:03Speaker 1: for a long time and need replacing. Mud When I
- 35:06Speaker 1: was mayor, told us that their plan was to replace
- 35:10Speaker 1: one percent per year, So we're talking one hundred years
- 35:16Speaker 1: to replace all of these old sewer lines. Water lines
- 35:21Speaker 1: that can do these types of things. But let me
- 35:25Speaker 1: tell you one thing, I will never criticize the mayor
- 35:28Speaker 1: of Omaha for a sinkhole or a pothole, because these
- 35:32Speaker 1: are things that are totally out of the mayor's control.
- 35:36Speaker 1: These things are happening underground and there's public works could
- 35:41Speaker 1: even put cameras down an old sewer lines to see
- 35:44Speaker 1: if they are still competent or if they're leaking, But
- 35:47Speaker 1: you gotta know where they're at, and you got to
- 35:49Speaker 1: know where the problem is. We just had a water
- 35:51Speaker 1: main break not long ago in the city of Omaha,
- 35:53Speaker 1: and you couldn't believe how high the water was flairing.
- 35:56Speaker 1: But you're not going to ever catch me or hear
- 35:59Speaker 1: me size the mayor or the mayor's administration for these
- 36:03Speaker 1: sinkholes or potholes. These are things that just happen, and
- 36:05Speaker 1: the mayor's responsibility is to take care of them and
- 36:08Speaker 1: make sure that you know, we have a good public
- 36:10Speaker 1: works department, which we do enough employees that are going
- 36:13Speaker 1: to be able to take care of these things.
- 36:15Speaker 6: Greg sent us an email it to comment at kfab
- 36:18Speaker 6: dot com. Interesting fact that puts things in perspective. One
- 36:22Speaker 6: trillion one dollar bills placed end to end would reach
- 36:28Speaker 6: further than from the Earth to the sun. I don't
- 36:32Speaker 6: know if that's true, Greg, I'm gonna take your word
- 36:34Speaker 6: for it.
- 36:34Speaker 1: Fun fact, I did not know that that's a long distance.
- 36:37Speaker 1: That's a long distance, Thank you, Greg. Can you imagine
- 36:40Speaker 1: being in in that spaceship going up towards the Moon?
- 36:44Speaker 1: I mean, the Moon on a clear night looks so
- 36:46Speaker 1: close you can grab it, but it's not.
- 36:49Speaker 6: Would you want to do it? Like if they said, Okay,
- 36:51Speaker 6: we're gonna let you go. You don't have to do anything.
- 36:53Speaker 6: You're just another passenger. You're just a joy ride for you.
- 36:55Speaker 5: You know.
- 36:55Speaker 1: I think it would be pretty scary to do something
- 37:00Speaker 1: like that, I really do. I mean, I'd have to
- 37:01Speaker 1: stop and think about that. But at the same time,
- 37:04Speaker 1: what an opportunity. How many human beings all over the
- 37:08Speaker 1: planet get the chance to go up and to loop
- 37:11Speaker 1: around the Moon? It would be if somebody offered it
- 37:14Speaker 1: to me, it would be hard for me to turn
- 37:16Speaker 1: it down.
- 37:17Speaker 6: Yeah, I think you're right. It would take a really
- 37:20Speaker 6: long thought out decision. Absolutely, I would consider it.
- 37:24Speaker 1: What an opportunity and ask somebody like Clayton Anderson that's
- 37:27Speaker 1: actually been up in space for an extended period of time. Boy,
- 37:31Speaker 1: I'm telling you that is something Like I said, not
- 37:33Speaker 1: too many human beings get to.
- 37:35Speaker 6: Do all right, Mike, thank you for your patience on
- 37:37Speaker 6: the KFABE comment line with Jean stauth.
- 37:41Speaker 7: Hey, thanks for having me. I want to make several
- 37:43Speaker 7: quick points. I want to say kudos to the last guy.
- 37:46Speaker 7: That's one reason I'm an independent now, because nobody talks
- 37:50Speaker 7: about the deficit, and that is what I fear will
- 37:53Speaker 7: take us down. I think that the biggest problem with
- 37:57Speaker 7: our country is both parties think they're parties as pure
- 38:00Speaker 7: as the driven snow, and the other party is evil
- 38:03Speaker 7: and doesn't like America. They hate America, and that's that's
- 38:07Speaker 7: the problem. The other party is evil. I want to
- 38:09Speaker 7: talk about mister Ricketts. You know, I feel like he
- 38:14Speaker 7: is a part of the problem in that. You know,
- 38:17Speaker 7: if Trump said the sunrises in the north, he'd say yes, yes,
- 38:22Speaker 7: dear Leader. As far as like it's easy to say
- 38:27Speaker 7: about Iran, Oh boy, we need to go over there.
- 38:29Speaker 7: I don't know what the whole story is, but I
- 38:33Speaker 7: have some empirical evidence. You know, the person that was
- 38:37Speaker 7: was and I do not remember his title, quit in
- 38:40Speaker 7: protests that we invaded Iran. His comments were there was
- 38:44Speaker 7: nothing imminent. I have a friend who is twenty years
- 38:47Speaker 7: on the ground, boots on the ground and intelligence. He
- 38:51Speaker 7: was responsible for taking out some warlords and Somaia. He
- 38:55Speaker 7: was actually in Iran, which I was stupidly didn't think
- 38:58Speaker 7: we had people in Iran ten and fifteen years ago.
- 39:02Speaker 7: He voted for Trump twice, but he said Trump had
- 39:04Speaker 7: no plan going in there. He said it was a mistake.
- 39:08Speaker 7: He told me after three days troops were on the way.
- 39:11Speaker 7: I said, how did you know that? And he just smiled.
- 39:13Speaker 7: A week later they announced that there was troops on
- 39:16Speaker 7: the ground. He said, we are creating more terrorists then
- 39:19Speaker 7: we're than we're taken care of. And he said Iran
- 39:23Speaker 7: will just be more inclined to be very determined to
- 39:27Speaker 7: get a nuclear weapon. They're not gonna let this happen
- 39:30Speaker 7: to him again. So you know, we all just you know, well,
- 39:33Speaker 7: he says that. And to make my point, I mean,
- 39:35Speaker 7: Trump said Iran wants me to be their leader. Oh
- 39:39Speaker 7: my god, we I mean, I couldn't stop laughing when
- 39:41Speaker 7: I heard that. But nobody calls him out on it.
- 39:43Speaker 7: If Trump says it, we just believe it. And if
- 39:46Speaker 7: I get asked, I'm just curious your thoughts on this.
- 39:50Speaker 7: I believe, you know, no, no big problem as a
- 39:54Speaker 7: black and white answer. But I think if we want
- 39:58Speaker 7: to solve no one is for open borders. I just
- 40:00Speaker 7: don't believe anyone that's for open borders. I've never talked
- 40:03Speaker 7: to anybody, even people that you know are pro undocumented workers.
- 40:10Speaker 7: But why do we not punish the companies that are
- 40:13Speaker 7: employing them. I used to live up by South Sioux
- 40:16Speaker 7: City and they had the biggest meetbacking plant in the world.
- 40:21Speaker 7: And I never believe this was true, but I knew
- 40:23Speaker 7: several people that were in management at IVP, and they
- 40:26Speaker 7: kept telling me. And finally I believe that IVP would
- 40:29Speaker 7: ticked buses down to the border and haul workers back
- 40:33Speaker 7: up there and they'd give them fake IDs. They know
- 40:37Speaker 7: this is going on. They know the companies if they
- 40:40Speaker 7: find companies or employing undocumented workers and they can't get
- 40:44Speaker 7: jobs into problem.
- 40:47Speaker 1: Thank you, Mike, we appreciate the call you got. About
- 40:49Speaker 1: sixty seconds. I agree with you. And you know, if
- 40:51Speaker 1: you look at at companies that are in agriculture, you
- 40:55Speaker 1: know a California, the wine countries, how many people that
- 40:59Speaker 1: they bring in and employ and the employers have to
- 41:03Speaker 1: be held accountable to I agree with that. I will
- 41:05Speaker 1: say I agree with what you're saying though about political parties,
- 41:09Speaker 1: that the one party thinks the other is just innately evil.
- 41:13Speaker 1: Because when I became mayor, everybody knows I am a Republican,
- 41:17Speaker 1: I'm a conservative, and I was a Republican in the
- 41:19Speaker 1: Blue Dot. But I said I will be the mayor
- 41:21Speaker 1: for everybody, including if you're Democrat, independent, if you're black,
- 41:25Speaker 1: if you're white, if you're brown. I did, if your male,
- 41:27Speaker 1: if you're female, And I got criticized from the far
- 41:30Speaker 1: right for saying I will represent Democrats too, And I
- 41:34Speaker 1: said I will be the mayor for everybody. I meant it.
- 41:37Speaker 1: And you know that's a problem that we have. Immigration
- 41:41Speaker 1: is a federal issue, and I think I agree. I
- 41:44Speaker 1: think both parties have not done what they could to
- 41:46Speaker 1: control the immigration issue. I think we are unfortunately out
- 41:51Speaker 1: of time. I hear that music plan, so I think
- 41:54Speaker 1: that means wrap it up, Jean. But I want to
- 41:56Speaker 1: thank everybody for listening today, thanks for being with us,
- 42:00Speaker 1: and thank you for your comments. I really want to
- 42:02Speaker 1: get people that agree or disagree with our guests and
- 42:05Speaker 1: what I'm saying too. Tomorrow. I have a great guest
- 42:08Speaker 1: on again. I hope you listen because it's going to
- 42:11Speaker 1: stimulate I know, a lot of questions. And Governor Jim
- 42:14Speaker 1: Pillen will be with us tomorrow morning, and we're going
- 42:17Speaker 1: to talk a lot about the state budget, and we're
- 42:19Speaker 1: going to talk about a lot of issues that the
- 42:22Speaker 1: legislature is still debating. So our forty first governor of
- 42:25Speaker 1: the State of Rascal will be with us tomorrow morning.
- 42:27Speaker 1: Please listen.
