- 0:07Speaker 1: This podcast.
- 0:10Speaker 2: Welcome to Meet Eater Trivia, the only game show where
- 0:12Speaker 2: conservation always wins. I'm your host, Spencer new Arth, and
- 0:16Speaker 2: today we're joined by Giannis, Randall, Brodie, Nate, Max and Alex.
- 0:21Speaker 2: This is a ten round quiz show with questions from
- 0:23Speaker 2: meat Eater's four verticals, which are hunting, fishing, conservation and cooking.
- 0:26Speaker 2: There is a prize. Meat Eater will donate five hundred
- 0:29Speaker 2: dollars to the conservation organization of the winner's choosing. We're
- 0:33Speaker 2: starting today's show with a mail bag question. You can
- 0:36Speaker 2: send your questions for the crew to Trivia at the
- 0:38Speaker 2: medeater dot com at the subject line mailbag. This is
- 0:41Speaker 2: something I've gotten from about ten folks, including our friend
- 0:44Speaker 2: Lake Pickle. The specific email I'm reading though, comes from
- 0:48Speaker 2: Dan Cunningham. He says, have you heard the new Luke
- 0:52Speaker 2: Bryan song about hunting? Do you think it dethrones his
- 0:56Speaker 2: other song as the worst hunting song of all time?
- 1:00Speaker 3: Yes?
- 1:01Speaker 2: If you're not a longtime listener to the show. Back
- 1:03Speaker 2: in twenty twenty two, I had a trivia question about
- 1:07Speaker 2: Luke Brian's song from two thousand and nine called Drinking
- 1:11Speaker 2: Beer and Wasting Bullets. And on that episode I declared
- 1:14Speaker 2: it to be the worst hunting song ever made.
- 1:17Speaker 3: I don't think I know that one.
- 1:19Speaker 2: I'll read you some of the lyrics in a second here.
- 1:21Speaker 2: But a couple of weeks ago, Luke Brian came out
- 1:24Speaker 2: with a new song that is taking the Internet and
- 1:26Speaker 2: the outdoor community by storm. Are you guys familiar Have
- 1:29Speaker 2: you heard it?
- 1:29Speaker 3: Yeah, there's a lot of speculation that it's all just
- 1:32Speaker 3: Ai written.
- 1:33Speaker 2: Okay, we'll get to that as well. The title of
- 1:36Speaker 2: the song, you guys are gonna love this. It's fish
- 1:38Speaker 2: Hunt Golf Drink, And for copyright reasons, I can't play
- 1:43Speaker 2: it for you. But we have the next best thing,
- 1:45Speaker 2: and that is karaoke champion Legend King is going to
- 1:51Speaker 2: do at my phone out take it away.
- 1:53Speaker 1: To put both head from.
- 1:56Speaker 3: Six seven eight.
- 2:00Speaker 4: If it wasn't for the tax man, wasn't for the beers,
- 2:05Speaker 4: if it wasn't for the traffic in my windshield, if
- 2:10Speaker 4: it wasn't always somewherepy Yeah.
- 2:15Speaker 5: And my life was really up to me he stopped
- 2:19Speaker 5: those ship kickers filled.
- 2:20Speaker 6: If I caing have it my own way, you know
- 2:23Speaker 6: thet me.
- 2:24Speaker 4: Tell you how every day you would go weak Coffeeee
- 2:28Speaker 4: Camel pum Tree.
- 2:31Speaker 7: You went Line eighteen, fish Hunt Golf drink a fall
- 2:37Speaker 7: spring now something long, living in a fan, living it
- 2:41Speaker 7: on a contree, boys dream, fish Hunt golf Dream.
- 2:48Speaker 5: Nice work, especially like the look on Phil's face while
- 2:51Speaker 5: he was singing that was solid.
- 2:55Speaker 1: Do you does it feel like you just had a drink?
- 2:59Speaker 6: Well that just for pep behind the curtain. Spencer slacked
- 3:03Speaker 6: me this about an hour ago, and I said, yeah,
- 3:05Speaker 6: I'll go. Don't worry, Trivia's not for two hours. I'll
- 3:08Speaker 6: get to it when I get to it. And then
- 3:09Speaker 6: I got a text from Randall fifteen minutes after Trivia
- 3:13Speaker 6: was supposed to start, saying, Phil, where are you? It's
- 3:15Speaker 6: time to record trivia? And so I raced down here,
- 3:19Speaker 6: listened to the song twice and then did that. So
- 3:21Speaker 6: I'm so sorry.
- 3:22Speaker 2: That is how deep the pool of talent is, Phil Taylor.
- 3:25Speaker 2: He just needed fifteen minutes to come up with that.
- 3:28Speaker 8: It's incredible to do that. Once in my life I
- 3:31Speaker 8: would consider myself.
- 3:33Speaker 6: I love how much you think that. I just have
- 3:35Speaker 6: a deep well of talent that doesn't exist. But I'm
- 3:37Speaker 6: going to keep milk.
- 3:39Speaker 5: Anybody disagree, I'll tell you what. It doesn't say much
- 3:44Speaker 5: for what's his name? For his of talent?
- 3:48Speaker 8: I want to know. I don't know anyth about lu Brian.
- 3:50Speaker 8: I've never like chosen to listen to Luke Bryan. Is
- 3:53Speaker 8: anybody in this room like Luke Bryant In college? I
- 3:57Speaker 8: went to multiple Luke Bryan concerts. Big supporter, but like
- 4:01Speaker 8: you know, he makes music for a college kid who
- 4:04Speaker 8: likes to drink and haunting golf and drink.
- 4:07Speaker 9: Yeah that was you.
- 4:08Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 4:08Speaker 1: He also have the song about getting upwind of a buck.
- 4:13Speaker 2: Well, okay, so the song that we are going to
- 4:16Speaker 2: be comparing that to is Drinking beer and Wasting bullets
- 4:18Speaker 2: again from two thousand and nine. In that song, he
- 4:21Speaker 2: talks about how he just drank a twelve pack and
- 4:24Speaker 2: he's waiting on a deer and he's, you know, just
- 4:26Speaker 2: wasting bullets and he's shooting a hundred grain thirty odd six,
- 4:29Speaker 2: which does not exist anywhere in the world, so we
- 4:32Speaker 2: must have you know, he's actually such a peer outdoorsman
- 4:34Speaker 2: that he handloaded his hundred grain thirty odd six bulls.
- 4:38Speaker 9: What is the smallest thirty cow you can get at.
- 4:40Speaker 2: Least twenty five grand for a thirty odd six in
- 4:43Speaker 2: factory or just very just a.
- 4:45Speaker 5: Bullet one tens I think I've seen.
- 4:49Speaker 1: I feel can we get on that?
- 4:51Speaker 2: So, as Max pointed out, folks have accused Luke Bryan
- 4:56Speaker 2: of using AI to write that song. Well, I took
- 4:58Speaker 2: that and I fed it to an a detector, which is,
- 5:02Speaker 2: you know, the same thing like a college professor would
- 5:04Speaker 2: use to see what it would say. It told me
- 5:07Speaker 2: that those lyrics are zero percent AI. So AI is
- 5:11Speaker 2: not even capable of coming up with something like that.
- 5:14Speaker 2: That is all human skill there. Luke is getting bullied
- 5:17Speaker 2: on the internet quite a bit about this, and he
- 5:20Speaker 2: has responded on Instagram. Here are some of his clapbacks.
- 5:24Speaker 2: As Max calls it, Here's what he says, well, I'm
- 5:27Speaker 2: learning that no one wants to have fun anymore. I
- 5:30Speaker 2: choose to have a damn blast. Either come along or
- 5:33Speaker 2: go be blah. Here's another comment that he was replying
- 5:37Speaker 2: to someone who was critical. He says, who are you
- 5:40Speaker 2: chill on the adderall? And then one more comment, It's
- 5:43Speaker 2: called a fun song. Just listen and have fun. Go
- 5:46Speaker 2: get on a boat, Quit scrolling on your phone all day.
- 5:49Speaker 2: So that is what Luke say to go.
- 5:51Speaker 1: Get on a boat.
- 5:52Speaker 5: Except his livelihood depends on people scrolling on a phone.
- 5:57Speaker 2: Yeah, as the host of American Idol, where he performed
- 6:01Speaker 2: this song, I think last week as well, chill out
- 6:03Speaker 2: on the adderall chill out on the addroll.
- 6:05Speaker 1: That's a good part.
- 6:06Speaker 2: That was some good, good feedback from him. I am
- 6:09Speaker 2: not going to say this is worse though, than the
- 6:11Speaker 2: drinking beer waisting bullet song from two thousand and nine.
- 6:15Speaker 2: You'll have to go find that on YouTube and compare
- 6:17Speaker 2: it to Phil's rendition.
- 6:18Speaker 3: Doesn't he have a song?
- 6:19Speaker 5: Did he have to put the golf?
- 6:20Speaker 1: I hate they were starting out so negative this episode.
- 6:23Speaker 10: Because it's a country boys dream, doesn't have a song
- 6:26Speaker 10: called like hunting Fishing Day.
- 6:28Speaker 2: Does have that? Yeah, he's got that. If you were
- 6:31Speaker 2: to do a top five worst hunting and fishing songs
- 6:33Speaker 2: of all time, he might just make a clean sweep.
- 6:36Speaker 5: Sings a song about takes read him.
- 6:39Speaker 2: Brad Paisley has a song about checking for tics, getting
- 6:43Speaker 2: the mud on the tires. Yeah, yep, all of these
- 6:46Speaker 2: songs would sound like Bo Burnham. He's a comedian who
- 6:49Speaker 2: does music. He did a country satirical song that somehow
- 6:54Speaker 2: sounded just like all of these real country songs. That's
- 6:57Speaker 2: that's how accurate it was. Phil, You big Bo Burnham fan? Right?
- 7:01Speaker 6: Oh yeah, I loved I love Bo burn I thought
- 7:03Speaker 6: Inside was incredible. That was his COVID project.
- 7:05Speaker 2: Very good stuff. All right, No stats are housekeeping on
- 7:08Speaker 2: this episode. The Shelby Index for today is a four,
- 7:11Speaker 2: so our winner should get eight correct answers. And with
- 7:14Speaker 2: that we're out of the game of trivia. Play the
- 7:16Speaker 2: drop fill.
- 7:24Speaker 11: Nine.
- 7:25Speaker 1: There's time to win everything.
- 7:33Speaker 2: Demon Suckers. Question one. The topic is wildlife. As always,
- 7:39Speaker 2: this will be multiple choice. According to Texas A and
- 7:43Speaker 2: M University, which of these animals is fastest? Is it
- 7:47Speaker 2: a squirrel, moose, jack rabbit, or bison?
- 7:53Speaker 12: I got a lot of issues, Okay, you.
- 7:55Speaker 2: Want specific species.
- 7:57Speaker 12: Like over what over what interval?
- 8:01Speaker 2: Just the fastest top speed that they can achieve. According
- 8:05Speaker 2: to Texas A and M, which of these animals we're
- 8:09Speaker 2: now looking at me? Is it a squirrel, a moose,
- 8:13Speaker 2: a jack rabbit, or a bison? This is which of
- 8:18Speaker 2: those four animals is the fastest?
- 8:20Speaker 6: Uh?
- 8:21Speaker 2: Later on, in the bridge of that song of Luke
- 8:24Speaker 2: Bryan's new Fish Hunt Golf Drink, he says, a little
- 8:27Speaker 2: chip sip rip a couple lips. Which food plot? Am
- 8:31Speaker 2: I gonna sit? That's good wisdom.
- 8:34Speaker 1: Oh, he means chip like a golf swing. I was
- 8:37Speaker 1: thinking chip dip chewing my lip.
- 8:45Speaker 2: You got it. You just came up with another bidden bridge.
- 8:49Speaker 2: According to Texas A and M, which of these animals
- 8:52Speaker 2: is fastest?
- 8:54Speaker 1: Hymnal jack rabbit lyrics.
- 9:00Speaker 2: Yanni is confident it is. Everybody ready, go ahead and
- 9:05Speaker 2: reveal your answers, Maxwell says Bison, Alex Bison, Randall jack rabbit,
- 9:12Speaker 2: Nate Moose, Jannis, jack rabbit, Brody moose. Oh, the correct
- 9:20Speaker 2: answer is jack rabbit. I think we had Randall and
- 9:25Speaker 2: Yanni get that one right?
- 9:28Speaker 7: What you know?
- 9:28Speaker 2: According to Texas A and M, the top speed of
- 9:31Speaker 2: a jack rabbit is forty five miles per hour. That's
- 9:35Speaker 2: followed by a moose at forty miles per hour, bison
- 9:38Speaker 2: at thirty five miles per hour, and squirrel at twelve
- 9:41Speaker 2: miles per hour. The fastest a human has ever ran
- 9:44Speaker 2: is Usain Bolt is at twenty seven point seven eight
- 9:48Speaker 2: miles an hour. Forty five jack rabbits.
- 9:52Speaker 5: My bird dog ran a jack rabbit down one time
- 9:54Speaker 5: over like three or four hundred yards and gave it
- 9:56Speaker 5: a heart attack and it died damn well over dead.
- 10:00Speaker 6: The jack rabbit jack.
- 10:03Speaker 2: Question to the dog. This question to the topic is fishing.
- 10:11Speaker 2: This five letter word is defined as quote the length
- 10:14Speaker 2: of metal from the hook eye to the point where
- 10:17Speaker 2: the hook begins to bend. Max and Randall, let me
- 10:22Speaker 2: check already locked in there. Answer five letter word is
- 10:27Speaker 2: defined as the length.
- 10:28Speaker 5: Of there's a word that you should remove from the
- 10:31Speaker 5: hook eye clearer.
- 10:32Speaker 2: But I'm not going to point begins to bend. I
- 10:35Speaker 2: think I got this definition from eagle Claw, great brand.
- 10:39Speaker 2: That's why I was just going with a direct quote
- 10:42Speaker 2: eg Claw.
- 10:43Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 10:45Speaker 8: I fished a lot of those uh crappy rigs, pre
- 10:50Speaker 8: pre made leaders, you know.
- 10:52Speaker 1: The hook Yeah was it? Were they?
- 10:55Speaker 9: I guess they were snelled like for.
- 10:56Speaker 5: Like bait fishing.
- 10:57Speaker 9: Yeah, I don't know. I don't know why. Like they
- 10:59Speaker 9: were like I would find them like in my grandpa's stash.
- 11:03Speaker 5: It's a classic thea.
- 11:05Speaker 1: Yeah, tackle boxes love packs of snell.
- 11:07Speaker 9: Yeah, but I don't even know what they were actually for.
- 11:10Speaker 8: I mean, I would just like fish like a worm
- 11:15Speaker 8: they made that way, Like, what what advantage does that
- 11:18Speaker 8: give you versus just tying your hook?
- 11:19Speaker 9: Onto the line quick rigging.
- 11:21Speaker 11: Yeah, when'd you put it on a swivel like that
- 11:25Speaker 11: little attached and you just there and yeah, maybe that was.
- 11:30Speaker 2: Has been so distracted he has a blank whiteboard.
- 11:32Speaker 5: Yeah, I still have some of those snelled hooks, like
- 11:35Speaker 5: I have some right now for sure.
- 11:37Speaker 2: Five letter word is defined as the length of metal
- 11:40Speaker 2: from the hook eye to the point where the you
- 11:43Speaker 2: know what.
- 11:44Speaker 5: It's like heavy mono, and then it's got to like
- 11:49Speaker 5: you can just loop those snelled hooks onto things.
- 11:53Speaker 12: We use them for.
- 11:54Speaker 1: Perch.
- 11:57Speaker 2: Is everybody ready wanted to do that? Go ahead and
- 12:00Speaker 2: reveal your answer, Maximus, says Shank Alex without an answer.
- 12:06Speaker 2: Randall Shank, Nate Shank, Jannis Shank, Brody shank. The correct
- 12:12Speaker 2: answer is shank. The shank is basically this straight part
- 12:16Speaker 2: of the hook on a standard jay hook. Shank configurations
- 12:20Speaker 2: vary by style, including forged and unforged options, different lengths,
- 12:24Speaker 2: unique shapes, and in some cases barbs that hold bait.
- 12:28Speaker 2: And Phil has a diagram for us, Oh, we don't
- 12:31Speaker 2: need Phils showing you the anatomy of a hook, and
- 12:34Speaker 2: there you can see what the shank refers.
- 12:37Speaker 1: Brody was the wording that.
- 12:38Speaker 5: You oh, it said, it was like it had the
- 12:41Speaker 5: word point and narrow, which like m initially confused me.
- 12:46Speaker 2: See, we're onto question three. The topic is hunting. This
- 12:50Speaker 2: next great question is via Ethan Zoonbrecker. Duck's Unlimited says
- 12:56Speaker 2: it's thanks to this grain that Stuttgart, Arkansas is the
- 13:00Speaker 2: quote duck capital of the world. Pretty good.
- 13:07Speaker 12: Guess what what, you're a duck dad?
- 13:09Speaker 3: The Henhouse produced eight ducks.
- 13:11Speaker 5: Eight there out there now they're.
- 13:15Speaker 2: Just swimming around in her pond, just little fuzzballs. Yeah,
- 13:18Speaker 2: how much did you know leading up to that that
- 13:20Speaker 2: you were going to have chicks this year?
- 13:23Speaker 9: Well?
- 13:23Speaker 10: I did see her try to like hop into the
- 13:27Speaker 10: hen House, but she kept on hopping up top. And
- 13:29Speaker 10: then later that day I think Steve texted me and
- 13:33Speaker 10: he's like, hey, Hen, Hen is in the house, And
- 13:36Speaker 10: then like she, I kept on looking back and it
- 13:39Speaker 10: was probably over like a two three week week period
- 13:41Speaker 10: she was in there on her nest. And then I
- 13:44Speaker 10: was texting Nate the whole time. When I was gone,
- 13:45Speaker 10: I was like, what's the duck report? Duck report? And
- 13:48Speaker 10: then yeah, he probably just hashed within the last five days.
- 13:52Speaker 1: Are you gonna grab one of them and practice diaper changing.
- 13:56Speaker 12: Alongside your child.
- 13:57Speaker 2: Are you more of a father figure Max of the landlord,
- 14:00Speaker 2: being that you built the duck nest.
- 14:03Speaker 3: I'm a more of a father figure. Well, no, I
- 14:05Speaker 3: didn't know, No more than landlord.
- 14:09Speaker 12: They're babies, ducks.
- 14:12Speaker 9: Unlimited doesn't get them.
- 14:15Speaker 3: No, I think that time is past.
- 14:18Speaker 12: Do you?
- 14:19Speaker 2: Says it's thanks to this grain that Stuttgarterner's at Stutegart Stutgart,
- 14:25Speaker 2: Arkansas is the duck capital.
- 14:27Speaker 10: Of the world.
- 14:31Speaker 2: Maxwell, flashing his answer, this is one that I think
- 14:33Speaker 2: Max knows.
- 14:34Speaker 1: I don't know this one.
- 14:35Speaker 12: I don't know either.
- 14:36Speaker 2: Everybody ready, do you says it's thanks to this grain
- 14:39Speaker 2: that Stuttgarden is the duck capital of the world. Go
- 14:43Speaker 2: ahead and reveal your answers, Max, says, Rice, Alex Barley,
- 14:48Speaker 2: Randall Millet, Nate, Rice, Yanni, Rice Brody Rice. The correct
- 14:54Speaker 2: answer is Rice two for two on guesses. Many ducks,
- 14:58Speaker 2: including the majority of North America's pintails, rely on rice
- 15:02Speaker 2: fields for wintering habitat. Birds love these flooded fields because
- 15:06Speaker 2: they mimic natural wetland and offer an easily accessible source
- 15:10Speaker 2: of high energy food. It's estimated that more than half
- 15:13Speaker 2: of the country's acres of rice are located in Arkansas,
- 15:17Speaker 2: with another twenty percent in neighboring states.
- 15:19Speaker 1: Goodness, gracious.
- 15:21Speaker 2: Half of the rice comes from all field dumb twenty
- 15:24Speaker 2: percent the neighboring states, and I think it's like twenty
- 15:26Speaker 2: percent in California. So it's only a handful of places.
- 15:29Speaker 3: California is another heavy state.
- 15:32Speaker 9: And they also have a lot of good duck hunt.
- 15:34Speaker 2: Have you hunted around the duck capital of the world?
- 15:37Speaker 3: Now, yes, well, oh, I not physically hunted, but I've filmed.
- 15:40Speaker 2: Okay, hunting over flooded rice fields.
- 15:43Speaker 10: A couple of times we did did flooded timber. Yeah,
- 15:47Speaker 10: only a couple of times of flood.
- 15:48Speaker 9: They lived was drowned in a can am bridge. Actually,
- 15:53Speaker 9: oh yeah.
- 15:55Speaker 2: Didn't live up to the hype of being the duck
- 15:57Speaker 2: capital of the world.
- 15:58Speaker 10: Yeah no, I mean it's just a cool area, a
- 16:00Speaker 10: lot of history and yeah, yes, yeah's.
- 16:03Speaker 9: North Dakota and that's what they do. So yeah, no,
- 16:06Speaker 9: you don't.
- 16:06Speaker 10: What I mean, a town just lives up to the hype,
- 16:09Speaker 10: and it's if you're a duck hunter, I would definitely
- 16:11Speaker 10: recommend It's just a cool place. There's a lot of
- 16:14Speaker 10: things to do and yeah, a lot of waterfall.
- 16:16Speaker 2: Don from the duck Landlord Maxwell Question four Landlord topic
- 16:22Speaker 2: is natural history. This is our listener question of the Week,
- 16:25Speaker 2: which was won by Andrew Green. I'm sending this great question.
- 16:28Speaker 2: Andrew is going to get a one hundred and fifty
- 16:30Speaker 2: dollars First Light gift card if you want a chance
- 16:32Speaker 2: to win the Listener Question of the Week and send
- 16:34Speaker 2: your question to Trivia at the meat eater dot com.
- 16:37Speaker 2: This extinct animal is the largest bear species of all time,
- 16:42Speaker 2: which is named after its compact muzzle.
- 16:46Speaker 5: Say there are some mean sons of guards.
- 16:49Speaker 2: This extinct animal is the largest bear species of all time,
- 16:53Speaker 2: which is named after its compact muzzle. I feel like
- 16:57Speaker 2: you made too much next too muchext. You make Alex
- 17:03Speaker 2: feel better.
- 17:04Speaker 12: I feel like if you knew it, you would have
- 17:06Speaker 12: got it with half the question. If you don't know
- 17:08Speaker 12: what you don't know?
- 17:10Speaker 9: Are you doing some painting at home?
- 17:13Speaker 6: Uh?
- 17:14Speaker 12: Grout tile work? What are we tiling bathroom?
- 17:19Speaker 5: And you don't look like you're normal, dressed up, kind
- 17:21Speaker 5: of put together self today.
- 17:23Speaker 12: You look kind of like because I've been tiling starting
- 17:25Speaker 12: at like eight pm. What a combo.
- 17:29Speaker 2: Nate's uh. Nate's wife is a woodworker and Nate is
- 17:31Speaker 2: a tile man.
- 17:34Speaker 13: You guys, you guys are cramming before the baby comes.
- 17:38Speaker 13: Last room a seams seamster, a sewer aspiring did you
- 17:44Speaker 13: find time to make brownies to give the landowners Sunday afternoon?
- 17:47Speaker 2: I heard you.
- 17:48Speaker 1: I heard your.
- 17:48Speaker 5: Bribe landowners with brownies.
- 17:50Speaker 12: Bribe is a strong word. Encourage, dude. I just dropped
- 17:54Speaker 12: off a bunch of peanut butter pies. Those dude, those
- 17:56Speaker 12: getting I had.
- 17:58Speaker 11: A landowner requested I was asking for because I have
- 18:01Speaker 11: white tail permission. Yeah, exactly, I have white tail permission.
- 18:09Speaker 11: And I went and asked for turkey permission and he's like, yeah,
- 18:12Speaker 11: you can go hunt turkeys. You think you could bring
- 18:14Speaker 11: by one of them peanut butter, yes, sir you Nate.
- 18:19Speaker 9: Well, he's flipping the scraph.
- 18:20Speaker 8: They're coming to him and be like, hey, this new
- 18:22Speaker 8: property five dres.
- 18:26Speaker 5: You know if you brought me one of the.
- 18:29Speaker 2: Question for this extinct animal is the largest bear species
- 18:33Speaker 2: of all time, which is named after its compact muzzle.
- 18:36Speaker 2: Is everybody ready, go ahead and reveal your answers, Maxwell says,
- 18:42Speaker 2: short snout bear Alex without an answer. Randall short faced bear,
- 18:47Speaker 2: Nate short faced bear, Yanni short faced, Brodie short faced.
- 18:52Speaker 2: The correct answer is short faced. I'm sorry, point film,
- 18:58Speaker 2: no point Phil.
- 19:00Speaker 1: Are you doing all right?
- 19:01Speaker 9: It's been there for weeks.
- 19:04Speaker 1: Spencer asked a lot of you at the outset of
- 19:06Speaker 1: this episode.
- 19:07Speaker 6: Well, I'm The.
- 19:11Speaker 2: Short faced bear went extinct about ten thousand years ago
- 19:14Speaker 2: during the last ice Age. Its death was primarily driven
- 19:17Speaker 2: by climate change, the loss of large prey, and the
- 19:20Speaker 2: increased competition with other predators. There were a handful of
- 19:24Speaker 2: species and subspecies with a range that stretches from Alaska
- 19:28Speaker 2: to Patagonia. The biggest of them could stand twelve feet
- 19:30Speaker 2: tall and weigh two thousand pounds, which is five hundred
- 19:33Speaker 2: pounds heavier than a polar bear. Phil has a diagram
- 19:37Speaker 2: for us comparing the short faced bear to a grizzly
- 19:40Speaker 2: and a polar bear. And they make a brown bear
- 19:43Speaker 2: look small. Look at the quads on that sucker they
- 19:45Speaker 2: always thing being like on steroids.
- 19:48Speaker 5: We reached and my boys reached the lot one of
- 19:51Speaker 5: those like Docu like it's all CGIs, you know, but
- 19:56Speaker 5: it's like they did some short face bear stuff.
- 19:59Speaker 9: Holy cow, it was good, but like.
- 20:01Speaker 2: Those things means scary so mean. Yeah, it was based
- 20:06Speaker 2: on context clues, but you don't get that. Point Question five.
- 20:10Speaker 2: The topic is conservation. The Conservation Law Foundation says it's
- 20:16Speaker 2: best practice to dial this call before you dig phone number.
- 20:20Speaker 2: Before planting a tree?
- 20:22Speaker 9: What I think.
- 20:26Speaker 2: The Conservation Law Foundation practice to dial this call before
- 20:32Speaker 2: you dig phone number. I think planting a tree looking
- 20:38Speaker 2: for what that phone number is.
- 20:40Speaker 10: It's like, you got it, not the area code or
- 20:42Speaker 10: and then the next five digits or I don't know.
- 20:47Speaker 2: There is one right answer and that's all. The Conservation
- 20:51Speaker 2: Law Foundation says it's best practice to dial this call
- 20:55Speaker 2: before you dig phone number.
- 21:01Speaker 12: No, are you talking to Randam.
- 21:04Speaker 2: Yanni? Do you have this one right?
- 21:07Speaker 11: That?
- 21:07Speaker 8: I have an answer written down that came into mind
- 21:11Speaker 8: when I thought about it for a few seconds. Hey,
- 21:14Speaker 8: do you have this one right?
- 21:15Speaker 12: A fifty to fifty? It's one or the other I had.
- 21:19Speaker 12: I've been digging a whole bunch recently another project.
- 21:22Speaker 3: Have you been calling before you dig?
- 21:23Speaker 12: No? It should be If I was, I probably know
- 21:27Speaker 12: this number.
- 21:28Speaker 2: I did have to call them recently and they came
- 21:31Speaker 2: out and they marked some lines. I'm good to go
- 21:33Speaker 2: digging all kinds of holes. The Conservation Law Foundation says
- 21:37Speaker 2: it's best practice to dial this call before you dig
- 21:40Speaker 2: phone number for planting a tree.
- 21:44Speaker 8: We planted a couple of pairs and a couple of apples,
- 21:47Speaker 8: and will be a chestnut.
- 21:49Speaker 5: And I just found out that Spencer's fixing to be
- 21:52Speaker 5: a fruit farmer.
- 21:53Speaker 2: I'm trying. I'm starting orchard in place. I'm now up
- 21:56Speaker 2: to sixty trees and shrubs that produce fruit. Really six
- 22:00Speaker 2: zero sixty this spring.
- 22:03Speaker 1: That's awesome.
- 22:04Speaker 14: Jeez.
- 22:05Speaker 12: What's your most for? Your most excited about?
- 22:08Speaker 2: Most excited about probably my peach because I can actually
- 22:12Speaker 2: see peaches coming right now. But they also are not
- 22:15Speaker 2: super tolerant bad winters like this past winter. You could
- 22:19Speaker 2: get a coconut or pineapple lived through what we had
- 22:21Speaker 2: here in the valley. But the peach trees, they're like
- 22:24Speaker 2: a fringe zone four fruit. So we'll see how it does.
- 22:28Speaker 12: I thought it took a couple of years start getting fruit.
- 22:30Speaker 12: How'd you get around that?
- 22:31Speaker 2: It varies? There's like some things three years, other one
- 22:34Speaker 2: six years, and you just never really know how big
- 22:36Speaker 2: was it were the trees. We're gonna move on here
- 22:38Speaker 2: in a second. But I did everything from bear root,
- 22:41Speaker 2: you know, which is like knee high up to things
- 22:44Speaker 2: that are probably like eight feet tall. Just just a variety.
- 22:47Speaker 2: Go ahead and reveal your answers. Maximus says for to
- 22:51Speaker 2: one one Alex without an answer. Randall says seven to
- 22:55Speaker 2: one one Nate eight one one, Yanni for one one,
- 23:00Speaker 2: Brody one eight hundred dig say we have a correct
- 23:05Speaker 2: answer in the room. Come on, it's eight one one.
- 23:12Speaker 12: That was.
- 23:15Speaker 1: Like a what is that?
- 23:17Speaker 2: What's road conditions? Five to one one one?
- 23:20Speaker 5: Like a directory or something like that.
- 23:23Speaker 2: In two thousand and five, the FCC made eight one
- 23:26Speaker 2: one the universal phone number for regional services that locate
- 23:30Speaker 2: underground public utilities. It's estimated that there are twenty million
- 23:34Speaker 2: miles of buried utilities in the United States, with repairs
- 23:38Speaker 2: exceeding thirty billion dollars annually. On average, an underground utility
- 23:42Speaker 2: is damaged every six minutes due to a failure to
- 23:46Speaker 2: contact eight one one.
- 23:49Speaker 9: Every six What is.
- 23:51Speaker 6: A word that's in like the It's like a slang
- 23:52Speaker 6: word in like the lexicon that means like, give me
- 23:54Speaker 6: the scoop, give me the four one?
- 23:56Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 23:56Speaker 6: Where it comes from?
- 23:59Speaker 2: Fell half way through the game of trivia. Give us
- 24:01Speaker 2: a scoreboard update.
- 24:03Speaker 6: Oh yeah, at halftime, Alex has zero points, even an answer,
- 24:10Speaker 6: Max has two points. Randola and Rody you have three points,
- 24:16Speaker 6: and in first place are Nate and Giannis with four points.
- 24:19Speaker 9: Anybody's game.
- 24:22Speaker 1: Remember those calling services, It's like a calling I never
- 24:26Speaker 1: really understood what that was.
- 24:28Speaker 9: Wasn't that the one that you Wasn't that the way
- 24:30Speaker 9: to call back? Maybe?
- 24:33Speaker 2: Maybe I thought sixty sixty seven was to be unanimous,
- 24:39Speaker 2: to be frank man landline days.
- 24:43Speaker 1: Yeah, did you just look up ten twenty? And then
- 24:45Speaker 1: we would get to the eight question? Uh?
- 24:47Speaker 6: Next corporate visiting. Yeah, that's that's my time to shine.
- 24:50Speaker 1: Thanks Bud.
- 24:52Speaker 2: Question six, the topic is hunting. This next great question
- 24:55Speaker 2: is via Alex Miller. Hall of fame outfielder Ted Williams,
- 25:00Speaker 2: who married his hunting guide's daughter, played his entire career
- 25:04Speaker 2: for this team. Okay, Hall of fame outfielder Ted Williams,
- 25:12Speaker 2: who married his hunting guide's daughter, played his entire career
- 25:16Speaker 2: for this team.
- 25:19Speaker 9: Why do you know this?
- 25:23Speaker 1: My well, I think I know it. It would just
- 25:25Speaker 1: be my knowledge of Ted Williams and who he is.
- 25:28Speaker 12: Is it because he was on your hometown team. No, okay,
- 25:33Speaker 12: there's a hint.
- 25:35Speaker 9: Eliminated one maybe two?
- 25:40Speaker 12: Yeah, there do you go? I mean he predated my
- 25:44Speaker 12: love of baseball.
- 25:45Speaker 1: My love of baseball.
- 25:47Speaker 2: Hall of Famer Ted Williams, who married his hunting god's daughter,
- 25:51Speaker 2: played his entire career for this team.
- 25:54Speaker 3: Was he right center or left?
- 25:57Speaker 2: He was a left fielder?
- 25:58Speaker 3: I believe, Okay, I'm changing.
- 25:59Speaker 11: My man.
- 26:01Speaker 6: Was something you could dial to get around like long
- 26:03Speaker 6: distance rates.
- 26:04Speaker 1: That's right.
- 26:06Speaker 2: It's weird that they would give you these little hacks
- 26:08Speaker 2: like here's how you be anonymous, here's how you get I.
- 26:11Speaker 6: Think it's sort of like like a VPM these days,
- 26:12Speaker 6: like it's legal, but they don't want to.
- 26:14Speaker 1: Well know they had they had. There were other variations
- 26:17Speaker 1: on it, and they would run endless television commercials. If
- 26:21Speaker 1: you didn't grow up in the golden age of landlines
- 26:24Speaker 1: late nineties landlines, man phones today are so boring except
- 26:29Speaker 1: for the Internet and the apps.
- 26:31Speaker 2: I feel like I have just been getting beat over
- 26:34Speaker 2: the head with eight one to one commercials lately, just
- 26:36Speaker 2: because I'm digging holes and obviously googling a launch. But
- 26:39Speaker 2: I assume you guys like get some eight one to
- 26:42Speaker 2: one commercials as well.
- 26:43Speaker 6: I said hummingbird feeder out loud the other day for
- 26:45Speaker 6: the first time and probably fifteen years, and I immediately
- 26:47Speaker 6: got an Instagram for having review.
- 26:50Speaker 2: Is everybody ready to tell me who Ted Williams played for?
- 26:54Speaker 2: Go ahead and reveal your answers. Maxwell says Colorado Rockies,
- 27:00Speaker 2: Alex says Red Sox, Randall Red Sox, Nate Yankees, Yanni Yankees,
- 27:07Speaker 2: Brody Yankees. The correct answer is the Boston Red Socks.
- 27:11Speaker 1: Baby and random one for one.
- 27:15Speaker 6: Yeah, I am the first one I actually had an
- 27:19Speaker 6: answer to.
- 27:20Speaker 2: Ted Williams was named the fifth greatest baseball player of
- 27:23Speaker 2: all time by ESPN in twenty twenty two. He was
- 27:26Speaker 2: inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in nineteen sixty
- 27:30Speaker 2: six and the International Game Fish Association Hall of Fame
- 27:33Speaker 2: in two thousand. The first of his three wives was
- 27:36Speaker 2: the daughter of his Minnesota hunting guide. They had a
- 27:39Speaker 2: daughter of their own in nineteen forty eight, and Williams
- 27:41Speaker 2: missed her birth because he was fishing for snook in Florida.
- 27:45Speaker 2: He then waited five days before flying to Minnesota to
- 27:48Speaker 2: meet his newborn, then got back on a plane less
- 27:51Speaker 2: than a week after that to return to Florida. He
- 27:54Speaker 2: told reporters, quote, this place is too cold for me,
- 27:57Speaker 2: and besides, the fishing is great. They got divorced six
- 28:00Speaker 2: years later.
- 28:01Speaker 12: Six years years it was harder to get.
- 28:06Speaker 2: And Phil is now showing us a photo of Ted
- 28:09Speaker 2: Williams with a large billfish.
- 28:13Speaker 1: The animals that we harvest so tasteful.
- 28:19Speaker 2: And Ted Williams had his own line of shotguns, rifles,
- 28:23Speaker 2: fishing rods that were sold at sears back in the day.
- 28:26Speaker 2: We are now on to question seven Socks. The topic
- 28:30Speaker 2: is fishing. This Wisconsin brand was founded in nineteen sixty
- 28:34Speaker 2: and is named after indigenous peoples of the Arctic. The
- 28:40Speaker 2: room is stumped. This Wisconsin brand was founded in nineteen
- 28:45Speaker 2: sixty and is named after indigenous peoples of the Arctic.
- 28:50Speaker 2: Brody was locked in his answer. Out, I imagine I
- 28:55Speaker 2: just gonna tell you the topic is fishing. Oh no,
- 28:59Speaker 2: this was Johnsen brand was founded in nineteen sixty and
- 29:03Speaker 2: is named after indigenous peoples of the Arctic. We're gonna
- 29:07Speaker 2: have a tight game here. I feel like there's some
- 29:10Speaker 2: board update.
- 29:12Speaker 3: I got a question.
- 29:14Speaker 2: Okay, I'm ready.
- 29:15Speaker 10: Remember that on fact I told you about which athlete
- 29:19Speaker 10: follows me at your Instagram.
- 29:20Speaker 3: Yes, we have to have that question.
- 29:23Speaker 2: Oh, I don't know if that'll go over real well now,
- 29:25Speaker 2: based on the Ted Williams success in the room, two
- 29:28Speaker 2: of our six players knowing who he played for?
- 29:32Speaker 12: What?
- 29:32Speaker 3: Current Stanley Cup contender.
- 29:35Speaker 2: Nathan McKinnon follows me on Instagram and that just tickles
- 29:39Speaker 2: Maxwell even though he plays for They Still how are
- 29:43Speaker 2: they doing?
- 29:45Speaker 9: I will leave?
- 29:46Speaker 3: They lost the Abs, which Spencer's a.
- 29:52Speaker 9: Good guys.
- 29:53Speaker 2: Why do you hate the Abs?
- 29:54Speaker 9: Because I'm a Detroit Red Wings fan? Late nineties?
- 29:57Speaker 2: Man lately This was Scontland. It was founded in nineteen
- 30:08Speaker 2: sixty and is named after indigenous peoples of the Arctic.
- 30:12Speaker 2: Is everybody ready go ahead and reveal your answers? Maximus
- 30:17Speaker 2: says Eskimo, Alex says Minkota, Randall Eskimo, Nate Eskimo, Brody Eskimo.
- 30:25Speaker 2: The correct answer is Eskimo, dude. Eskimo primarily sells ice
- 30:30Speaker 2: fishing gear, with their first product being in Augur that
- 30:34Speaker 2: was powered by a car battery. The Eskimo name is
- 30:37Speaker 2: an umbrella term that generally refers to two groups of people,
- 30:41Speaker 2: the Inuit of Canada Greenland and Northern Alaska and the
- 30:44Speaker 2: Yupik of Siberia and Western Alaska.
- 30:47Speaker 5: I got a great big Eskimo ice fish intent I'm
- 30:50Speaker 5: looking to sell.
- 30:51Speaker 12: Oh interest.
- 30:52Speaker 2: You see, those are becoming real popular for hunters who
- 30:55Speaker 2: are doing car camping in the fall.
- 30:57Speaker 5: I think I might have retired from ice fishing after
- 30:59Speaker 5: this last winter.
- 31:02Speaker 1: Fish retired from you.
- 31:04Speaker 2: That's what it did. Question eight. The topic is conservation.
- 31:09Speaker 2: This shark is the man behind the proposed one hundred
- 31:13Speaker 2: billion dollar Utah data center. Shark is in quotation marks.
- 31:19Speaker 2: This shark is the man behind the proposed one hundred
- 31:23Speaker 2: billion dollar Utah data center.
- 31:26Speaker 9: We talked about this yesterday. I can't remember the guy's name.
- 31:30Speaker 2: Yeah, come up with the San Jose shark.
- 31:35Speaker 3: No, No, I know what shark means in this question.
- 31:39Speaker 6: Okay, did anyone here see Marty Supreme?
- 31:42Speaker 4: Oh?
- 31:42Speaker 6: Phil, No, that is a you know, that's not a
- 31:46Speaker 6: click for anyone, not for anyone.
- 31:48Speaker 2: In this.
- 31:52Speaker 5: Everybody crazy like when a hint is given, it's not
- 31:58Speaker 5: just about the people in this room, it's about all
- 32:00Speaker 5: the things.
- 32:03Speaker 9: That's so kind of you.
- 32:07Speaker 6: I never think of the fans. That's a good perspective.
- 32:10Speaker 2: You never think this shark is the man behind the
- 32:14Speaker 2: proposed one hundred billion dollar Utah name. Last name would
- 32:20Speaker 2: be good enough. I'm okay with doing Jeopardy rules in
- 32:22Speaker 2: that case. If you just give me the last name,
- 32:24Speaker 2: we'll accept that. Thinking about Phil's, unless, of course, it
- 32:28Speaker 2: was going to be like one of the Kennedy's that
- 32:30Speaker 2: would not fly.
- 32:32Speaker 5: There's a lot of different kinds of Kennedys.
- 32:37Speaker 2: This shark is the man behind the proposed one hundred
- 32:39Speaker 2: billion dollars Utah data center. Yanni is stumped, even after
- 32:45Speaker 2: Phil's hint, furious erasing.
- 32:50Speaker 3: Max, I got one of them.
- 32:53Speaker 2: Have you seen that movie? Phil?
- 32:55Speaker 9: Yeah, okay, you give us a review.
- 32:57Speaker 6: This guy who seems like, you know, I'm not gonna
- 33:01Speaker 6: call him any names, Boner, but he was great and supreme.
- 33:04Speaker 6: Well yeah, I mean he just played himself right, He's
- 33:07Speaker 6: really good.
- 33:08Speaker 2: Oh, yes, Alex is gonna.
- 33:14Speaker 9: Win the damn game. Puts up.
- 33:16Speaker 2: Alex does a nickname.
- 33:21Speaker 5: You?
- 33:22Speaker 2: If you give us the nickname just for you, we'll
- 33:24Speaker 2: accept that. Yeah. I don't think it's not because I
- 33:29Speaker 2: like you. It's not because you're a nice guy. It's
- 33:31Speaker 2: because we respect the troops around here and Memorial Day.
- 33:35Speaker 1: I am losing this game.
- 33:37Speaker 2: If you give us the nickname that's probably even harder
- 33:40Speaker 2: to come up.
- 33:41Speaker 6: With than Thanks for his actual name anytime, and thanks
- 33:45Speaker 6: Brody for keeping the wheels turning.
- 33:49Speaker 1: Randall, you have this, I'm not gonna change. I like
- 33:52Speaker 1: have my answer, but I'm like, is it close to this?
- 33:56Speaker 9: Everybody?
- 33:57Speaker 1: Actually no, I'm not going to chang.
- 34:00Speaker 2: Go ahead and reveal your answers. Max says Mark Cuban,
- 34:04Speaker 2: Alex Cuman is Cuban. Cuban, Alex says mister wonderful, Randall O'Leary, Nate,
- 34:12Speaker 2: Mark Cuban, Yanni without an answer, Brody, Kevin O'Leary. The
- 34:15Speaker 2: correct answer is Kevin O'Leary, who has the nickname mister
- 34:20Speaker 2: wonderful Wow Alex, what a weird did he give himself
- 34:24Speaker 2: that nickname?
- 34:25Speaker 6: It shouldn't work for him probably.
- 34:27Speaker 2: The proposed data center is called the Stratus hyper Scale
- 34:32Speaker 2: Data Center. Its campus will span forty thousand acres, which
- 34:36Speaker 2: is sixty two square miles, making it the biggest of
- 34:39Speaker 2: its kind on the planet. It will solely use twice
- 34:42Speaker 2: as much electricity as the rest of the state and
- 34:44Speaker 2: consume billions of gallons of water. Scientists predict the campus
- 34:48Speaker 2: could create a heat island and raised local temperatures by
- 34:51Speaker 2: two to five degrees during the day and eight to
- 34:54Speaker 2: twelve degrees at night.
- 34:55Speaker 5: Wow, he was a real smug son of a biscuit
- 35:00Speaker 5: talking about that thing.
- 35:01Speaker 2: And here's a rendering of the proposed campus that day
- 35:08Speaker 2: that does that does look like him? And now he's
- 35:10Speaker 2: the bald guy. His new thing is he wears jewelry
- 35:14Speaker 2: that features like sports cards in it, like a million
- 35:17Speaker 2: dollar kolbe Bryant signed rookie jersey card. Phil, give me
- 35:23Speaker 2: a review of I was directed towards Cooked Marty Supreme,
- 35:26Speaker 2: and then a scoreboard update.
- 35:27Speaker 6: Please It's a Descent into Hell with the World's Worst Person.
- 35:31Speaker 6: I didn't really buy the ending, but I thought the
- 35:33Speaker 6: movie overall was great.
- 35:34Speaker 2: Thank you.
- 35:36Speaker 1: Oh I thought you were talking about this episode.
- 35:38Speaker 2: Yeah scoreboard update.
- 35:42Speaker 6: Oh yeah, that's right, I do that, don't I. Here
- 35:45Speaker 6: we are. We've got Max has three uh, Nate, Joannis,
- 35:52Speaker 6: and Brodie are all tied up with five in first place.
- 35:55Speaker 9: Six points.
- 35:56Speaker 6: Doctor Randall already come back.
- 35:57Speaker 5: He cut the tension with a knife in here.
- 36:01Speaker 2: Question nine, the topic is biology. This next great question
- 36:05Speaker 2: is via Eric Trumbull. This eleven letter word is defined
- 36:10Speaker 2: as the intentional killing of young offspring by a mature
- 36:15Speaker 2: animal of the same species. This eleven letter word is
- 36:23Speaker 2: defined as the intentional killing of young offspring by a
- 36:27Speaker 2: mature animal of the same species. Nate and Brody and.
- 36:31Speaker 5: Answers, I know what animals do this?
- 36:37Speaker 2: What animals do this? Max? You're right?
- 36:45Speaker 12: Do you know what?
- 36:47Speaker 2: I'm good? I will list my examples in the flighter text,
- 36:50Speaker 2: and those are both among my examples. This eleven letter
- 36:54Speaker 2: word is defined as the intentional killing of young offspring species.
- 37:02Speaker 2: They're killing, they're raping, they're pillaging.
- 37:04Speaker 12: Yeah, hid your kids Jijia dolphins.
- 37:11Speaker 2: Eleven letter word. Oh, I like Max's answer. Sure, I
- 37:17Speaker 2: don't worry. Eleven letter word the intentional killing of young
- 37:21Speaker 2: offspring by mature animal of the same species. Yanni, Do
- 37:23Speaker 2: you have this one right?
