- 0:05Speaker 1: suitable for all audiences. Listener discretion is advised.
- 0:10Speaker 2: The World's a pigeon podcas.
- 0:16Speaker 1: Welcome to Patriots Unfiltered.
- 0:20Speaker 2: Reportedly, allegedly, there's a certain person still visiting here.
- 0:25Speaker 3: They told Evan to get out of the bushes this morning.
- 0:27Speaker 2: What are you doing there?
- 0:28Speaker 4: I had a dream, littlecular reason why he didn't sign here.
- 0:31Speaker 5: So you had a dream that you were the reason
- 0:34Speaker 5: he didn't sign Yeah, yep, he woke up in a sweat.
- 0:37Speaker 4: Jessica, I just really don't like Phil's Moabia. Their fandom
- 0:41Speaker 4: is insufferable, and.
- 0:43Speaker 5: It's unlike the Patriots.
- 0:44Speaker 4: No, it's insufferable because they are not the Patriots. Like
- 0:47Speaker 4: they can talk smack to Patriots fans. It's like, what
- 0:50Speaker 4: are you talking about? Like you have not won a
- 0:53Speaker 4: single thing. Your your history is choking. You are four
- 0:58Speaker 4: super Bowls in a row losing, Like you know how
- 1:00Speaker 4: hard that is to lose all four.
- 1:02Speaker 6: I was gonna say, letitious swan, that's suet so no one.
- 1:07Speaker 5: No one, No one accidentally swears more in the show
- 1:11Speaker 5: than Deuce.
- 1:11Speaker 2: I still say he's a clutch play but.
- 1:14Speaker 5: Againle I think it's tangible.
- 1:17Speaker 1: This is Patriots unfiltered.
- 1:21Speaker 2: All right, welcome the Patriots unfiltered. It is Tuesday here
- 1:25Speaker 2: at Jillette Stadium, and we're gonna be talking Patriots for
- 1:28Speaker 2: the next two hours. The gang's all here, it's Deuce,
- 1:30Speaker 2: it's Evan Tamara, Paul, myself and Matt and Nabooth. So
- 1:36Speaker 2: lots to talk about, unfortunately and unfortunately, but I mean,
- 1:42Speaker 2: we have to lead off with the news of the day,
- 1:44Speaker 2: which is Jack Jones' uh, last Friday, being arrested at
- 1:49Speaker 2: Logan with two guns loaded guns in his carry on.
- 1:52Speaker 2: And and today he was at court for his first appearance,
- 1:57Speaker 2: released on thirty thousand dollars bond and he has to
- 2:01Speaker 2: go back to court in August eighteenth, I believe, for
- 2:04Speaker 2: his arraignment or something like that. But he pleaded not guilty,
- 2:07Speaker 2: not guilty, had his lawyer with him. But not looking
- 2:12Speaker 2: good for the Patriots. Number two projected cornerback. No.
- 2:18Speaker 6: Yeah, we've had some spirited the debate about this already.
- 2:20Speaker 6: And yeah, the lawyer came out and I know Evan,
- 2:23Speaker 6: we saw her come out, and makes it sound like
- 2:25Speaker 6: he has a case. Okay for me personally, you know,
- 2:28Speaker 6: we don't know everything yet, but based on what the
- 2:29Speaker 6: initial report was, that he brought two loaded handguns into
- 2:33Speaker 6: an airport with extended magazines, I mean my feeling, and
- 2:37Speaker 6: I know, you know there are other takes on this,
- 2:39Speaker 6: but I feel like he's he's done.
- 2:41Speaker 2: The lawyer all I heard was railing against social media
- 2:44Speaker 2: for calling him a thug, which is not a case.
- 2:46Speaker 2: What case did? Yeah, I don't, I don't know.
- 2:48Speaker 6: I don't know what she's and it seemed like she
- 2:50Speaker 6: spent a lot of time talking about that.
- 2:52Speaker 4: That was actually probably that was the quote that got grabbed,
- 2:55Speaker 4: but that was like ten seconds.
- 2:57Speaker 2: Okay, well did she actually because listen, I'm all ears,
- 3:01Speaker 2: I'm hoping that there's that explanation. I can't imagine what
- 3:04Speaker 2: it would be. Yeah, I can't imagine in a million.
- 3:07Speaker 4: Okay, So here here's the money quote of what she said.
- 3:11Speaker 4: The facts of this case or that they found two
- 3:13Speaker 4: guns and a carry on bag that they said was his.
- 3:15Speaker 4: He had no intention of bringing any guns into Logan
- 3:19Speaker 4: Airport that day. So to answer your question of what
- 3:22Speaker 4: is his case, negligence just pure I had no idea
- 3:26Speaker 4: what was going on that that's gonna end up being
- 3:28Speaker 4: his case, and it sounds to me like they feel
- 3:32Speaker 4: like they have a defense and they asked for a
- 3:36Speaker 4: probable cause hearing, So it's gonna there's gonna be witnesses
- 3:39Speaker 4: and there's gonna be a jury, and there's gonna you know,
- 3:41Speaker 4: this is gonna go at the distance potentially unless they plead.
- 3:45Speaker 2: So that's that's there is one thing that she said
- 3:49Speaker 2: that I think if you're hoping that Jack Jones sees
- 3:52Speaker 2: the field soon, that would give you hope is that
- 3:56Speaker 2: she said, you know, I want to thank the Patriots
- 3:58Speaker 2: organization because he almost lost his job. So it sounds
- 4:03Speaker 2: to me like they were ready to cut him. They
- 4:06Speaker 2: had their and then the Patriots reconsidered from what she said.
- 4:11Speaker 6: From what she said, yeah, we have no idea if
- 4:13Speaker 6: that's it, I don't know. I mean, there's a legal
- 4:15Speaker 6: process to go through. I would just say, you took
- 4:17Speaker 6: a chance on this kid. You couldn't get through a
- 4:21Speaker 6: year without him getting suspended on the team. We still
- 4:23Speaker 6: don't know what exactly that was. I know he came
- 4:25Speaker 6: on social media and said that it wasn't talking back
- 4:28Speaker 6: to Bill, so I don't know what it was.
- 4:30Speaker 3: He's a pretty good player. He played well this spring.
- 4:33Speaker 6: I just think that if this is actually what happened,
- 4:35Speaker 6: and I agree with what Evan had set upstairs earlier,
- 4:38Speaker 6: which is it just seems so stupid that anyone would
- 4:41Speaker 6: take two guns to an airport in a carry on
- 4:43Speaker 6: like that seems impossibly stupid to me. So if that's
- 4:46Speaker 6: exactly what happened, he's out, Like I mean, I don't
- 4:48Speaker 6: know how he doesn't go to jail.
- 4:49Speaker 5: Now.
- 4:49Speaker 6: I know there's nuance to it, and there's gonna be
- 4:51Speaker 6: a case and all those kind of things, and you
- 4:52Speaker 6: can tell me how we made that mistake, but I'm
- 4:55Speaker 6: sorry if you do that in Massachusetts, you.
- 4:57Speaker 2: Take his He had no intention of bringing to guns,
- 5:00Speaker 2: so means that either somebody put them there, he didn't
- 5:03Speaker 2: know they were in there, or he forgot they were
- 5:06Speaker 2: in there. But I don't know, man, it's.
- 5:09Speaker 6: Well yeah, and I mean and again in Massachusetts gun
- 5:12Speaker 6: laws I know are very extensive, and so it's it's
- 5:14Speaker 6: I mean, it goes beyond I mean, what if they're
- 5:16Speaker 6: like seven different counts.
- 5:18Speaker 2: They want to own a gun, which is fine, you
- 5:19Speaker 2: got to own the responsibility of owning a gun, right,
- 5:22Speaker 2: but these are these are illegal magazines.
- 5:25Speaker 3: So they're.
- 5:27Speaker 6: Upon things, So like, sure, you can preach negligence and
- 5:31Speaker 6: say I didn't know, or someone put it in there,
- 5:33Speaker 6: until someone comes in the midst that they did that,
- 5:35Speaker 6: or you have tangible proof that someone put it in there.
- 5:37Speaker 6: You're the guy who walked into the airport with the guns, right.
- 5:40Speaker 7: I just don't think it looks good because he doesn't
- 5:42Speaker 7: have a great resume. He has a horrible track record
- 5:44Speaker 7: as it is, So it'd be different if this if
- 5:46Speaker 7: someone with a clean slate who's like never been in trouble. Yeah,
- 5:51Speaker 7: that that's where I'm like, this gets sticky because you
- 5:54Speaker 7: can't say this kid has never been in trouble before.
- 5:56Speaker 6: And I heard over the weekend they were talking about
- 5:57Speaker 6: the you know, the thing that happened at the restaurant
- 5:59Speaker 6: and and that was kicked down to a misdemeanor. And
- 6:02Speaker 6: so I mean, my my thing is, like, does that
- 6:04Speaker 6: come back, Like it can't come back to bite you
- 6:06Speaker 6: if it was a misdemeanor now, I guess is what
- 6:08Speaker 6: they were saying.
- 6:09Speaker 2: But I still think it counts though.
- 6:11Speaker 3: Doesn't it count overall?
- 6:12Speaker 2: And when when they're taking this into consideration judgment.
- 6:15Speaker 4: Based off what her His lawyer said and his I
- 6:18Speaker 4: might be getting her name wrong, but it's a Rose
- 6:21Speaker 4: Scapaccio is her lawyer, and there's actually a Netflix documentary
- 6:25Speaker 4: of her getting somebody off from murder, like completely acquitted
- 6:29Speaker 4: for murder. She is a powerhouse attorney, somebody that has
- 6:34Speaker 4: thirty one years in the business, has tried all sorts
- 6:38Speaker 4: of cases with you know, public interest and things like that.
- 6:42Speaker 4: You know they I think it's Sean Ellis was the
- 6:45Speaker 4: guy's name that that she got off and it's it's
- 6:47Speaker 4: on Netflix. You can watch a whole documentary about the case.
- 6:50Speaker 4: So he's got a real powerhouse legal So.
- 6:53Speaker 2: Let's just say, you know, she does get him off
- 6:56Speaker 2: scot free. But as the Patriots, I still want to
- 6:59Speaker 2: know what's up man's you know, like, Okay, you got off,
- 7:02Speaker 2: you got yourself a good lawyer, and she got you off.
- 7:05Speaker 2: But I want to know who the hell do I
- 7:08Speaker 2: have on my team? You know, That's that's all I
- 7:11Speaker 2: want to know.
- 7:12Speaker 6: And it's not going to be so cut and dry
- 7:13Speaker 6: that he's going to get off next week and it's
- 7:14Speaker 6: all behind him, like he's got a case two days
- 7:16Speaker 6: before the packers came. I mean, this is going into
- 7:18Speaker 6: the season, so I don't know legally what the Patriots
- 7:21Speaker 6: can do, but I just don't see how he gets
- 7:24Speaker 6: back on the football team field again.
- 7:26Speaker 2: Listen, in the NFL, there is precedent of people who
- 7:28Speaker 2: have been accused of something and during that time they
- 7:32Speaker 2: still played until things played out. Now, the exception is
- 7:36Speaker 2: when the commissioner got you know, brought in and a
- 7:41Speaker 2: couple of times and they had the commissioner's exemption list
- 7:44Speaker 2: where he suspends the player with pay during the time,
- 7:49Speaker 2: which you know, until the legal system can take its course.
- 7:53Speaker 2: But I don't see Goodell stepping in in this one,
- 7:57Speaker 2: you know, But I don't know. It's it's crazy. It's like,
- 8:00Speaker 2: what are you doing?
- 8:01Speaker 5: Man?
- 8:02Speaker 2: You just got out of mini camp and.
- 8:04Speaker 3: You know in a day, I mean to day and
- 8:06Speaker 3: and build.
- 8:06Speaker 6: You know, what's that famous story Bill talking about like
- 8:08Speaker 6: he's on the golf course with somebody done.
- 8:11Speaker 2: Yeah, which I.
- 8:12Speaker 6: Can let you guys tell again, But that's exactly what
- 8:14Speaker 6: he's worried about, that somebody's gonna walk out of this
- 8:16Speaker 6: building and just do something that's gonna, you know, put
- 8:19Speaker 6: their whole career basically in jeopardy.
- 8:20Speaker 7: Yeah, I do you think too? Like the tweet that
- 8:22Speaker 7: was pulled up from him about when he was referring
- 8:25Speaker 7: to Jahn Morant of like, how could you let something
- 8:26Speaker 7: get between you and your bag? I'm like, again, that
- 8:29Speaker 7: goes back to intent. Do we think that he really
- 8:32Speaker 7: got on the plane or was about to get on
- 8:34Speaker 7: the plane with two loaded guns?
- 8:36Speaker 2: I don't know, but it's but like I do the
- 8:38Speaker 2: thing that they tweeted out to John Morant, who was
- 8:40Speaker 2: actually good advice, Yeah, like it made sense, Yeah, it did.
- 8:44Speaker 7: So, I'm like, why would you say that but then
- 8:46Speaker 7: not take your own advice?
- 8:47Speaker 2: Yeah, maybe something one of John Moran's people planted.
- 8:52Speaker 7: Take the attention off of Ja Morant and now put
- 8:55Speaker 7: it on Jack Jones.
- 8:56Speaker 2: Tell me what to do.
- 8:57Speaker 4: They weren't his guns, right, we don't know know?
- 8:59Speaker 2: Well I I heard one was unregistered.
- 9:03Speaker 5: So one of them is his gun. So at the
- 9:05Speaker 5: very least he has know where his guns are, right,
- 9:07Speaker 5: I mean best casey and that's a that's best case scenario.
- 9:11Speaker 5: He wouldn't be on my team, Yeah, yeah, he wouldn't.
- 9:15Speaker 5: No chance guns domestic violence. I can't look the other
- 9:18Speaker 5: way for those two.
- 9:19Speaker 2: Yeah, especially I know a lot of other teams do.
- 9:23Speaker 5: I'm not trying to come off pollyanny ish, like I
- 9:26Speaker 5: know a lot of other teams look the other way
- 9:28Speaker 5: and they keep these guys and I hate it, and
- 9:30Speaker 5: I make fun of the other teams. I'm going to
- 9:32Speaker 5: make fun of my team, just just like I do
- 9:33Speaker 5: the other teams. Tyreek Hill wouldn't be on my team.
- 9:36Speaker 2: Yeah, No, I know You've been very consistent over the
- 9:38Speaker 2: years with that. You You would have a team of
- 9:40Speaker 2: choir boys, and that's.
- 9:41Speaker 5: Fine, and I'd lose. And I'm fully aware that I
- 9:45Speaker 5: would lose. I would be an unsuccessful general manager because
- 9:47Speaker 5: I try to get good people.
- 9:48Speaker 7: On my I would definitely rather have a team of
- 9:51Speaker 7: Matthews later so whatever, And just you know, to use
- 9:55Speaker 7: that one.
- 9:55Speaker 5: If Matthew Slater brought two guns on the on the
- 9:57Speaker 5: plane on Friday, he'd be cut today. No, no track record,
- 10:01Speaker 5: no like clean Slate. I can't I can't have that.
- 10:04Speaker 5: I don't know how you guys would want to get
- 10:06Speaker 5: on a plane with Jack Jones being on it like
- 10:08Speaker 5: for a trip, not not have any idea what he's
- 10:12Speaker 5: got in his bag.
- 10:13Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 10:14Speaker 4: I just think that there's two separate things going Like
- 10:17Speaker 4: obviously there's the question the football team and what the
- 10:19Speaker 4: Patriots should do moving forward and all that type of things.
- 10:22Speaker 4: But I think where I come from is that I
- 10:24Speaker 4: get it. It does bother me a little bit that
- 10:26Speaker 4: this happens and then immediately like we're calling for the
- 10:29Speaker 4: player's head without any real information or any real facts.
- 10:33Speaker 5: Because I haven't really actually saying you got to let
- 10:36Speaker 5: it play out. I've I've heard the radio the last
- 10:38Speaker 5: two days. This is the innocent that's not.
- 10:42Speaker 4: I mean, I've seen it on both sides. My point
- 10:44Speaker 4: is is like his head everybody, but everybody has an opinion,
- 10:48Speaker 4: and like we're not lawyers, none of us are there,
- 10:51Speaker 4: like none of us were We're have the facts of
- 10:53Speaker 4: the case, like we don't you don't know what happened.
- 10:55Speaker 5: Okay, So I just want to know did he have
- 10:58Speaker 5: guns in his bag at the airport with the full
- 11:01Speaker 5: Like does that true? If that's not true, then I
- 11:03Speaker 5: that I agree with Evan. Otherwise I don't care. Like
- 11:05Speaker 5: if he has a loophole with a powerhouse attorney that
- 11:08Speaker 5: gets him off, I don't think any more of oj
- 11:10Speaker 5: that he got off, right, Like, I don't care what
- 11:13Speaker 5: happens in the legal process. I don't want a guy
- 11:15Speaker 5: who took two guns fully loaded to an airport, whether
- 11:19Speaker 5: he knew or not. Yeah, I don't want it.
- 11:21Speaker 2: And like I said, I can't imagine what the story
- 11:25Speaker 2: is that would change my mind that you gotta go.
- 11:29Speaker 2: I mean, I just planted on him. But I'm all ears,
- 11:32Speaker 2: I'm all ears. I just can't imagine what it would.
- 11:34Speaker 6: Be, right, Well, I mean you could, and I could
- 11:36Speaker 6: almost suspend disbelief it was if it was like in
- 11:38Speaker 6: his check bags, like oh they found under the plane,
- 11:41Speaker 6: but like, oh, harry On go, like at least then
- 11:43Speaker 6: I could say, all right, he probably.
- 11:45Speaker 4: This is my point. This is this is my only
- 11:48Speaker 4: point about this. Is that it is so ridiculously outlandish
- 11:53Speaker 4: to me that he showed up with two loaded guns
- 11:56Speaker 4: with extra magazines of ammunition and expected to waltz through
- 12:00Speaker 4: Tsa with it in his carry on, knowingly in his
- 12:04Speaker 4: carry on and gum out the other side without getting
- 12:08Speaker 4: any anybody stopped or anything like that. And if he
- 12:11Speaker 4: did that, then then he should go to prison. And
- 12:14Speaker 4: it's not even about football, like he should be in jail,
- 12:16Speaker 4: right okay, But if he I just can't, as a
- 12:20Speaker 4: sane person, I cannot wrap my head around trying to
- 12:23Speaker 4: pull that off, and if there is a story that
- 12:26Speaker 4: maybe suggests that there was some funny business going on,
- 12:31Speaker 4: I would at least like to hear it out. I'm
- 12:33Speaker 4: not saying that I'm gonna side with him, but like it,
- 12:35Speaker 4: let's at least hear out. Yeah, Like, let's say somebody
- 12:39Speaker 4: blackmailed him, Like he's a public figure, a professional athlete,
- 12:43Speaker 4: he's making lots of money, Like, you don't know what
- 12:46Speaker 4: could have happened, And it sounds to me like his lawyer.
- 12:50Speaker 4: Maybe it's a technicality loophole type of argument or a case.
- 12:54Speaker 4: But if the lawyer sounds to me like the lawyer
- 12:57Speaker 4: is pretty confident in the information that they have that
- 13:00Speaker 4: they have a case against this, and I think they
- 13:02Speaker 4: presented it to the team based off of what she said, right,
- 13:05Speaker 4: And so maybe it was planted, Maybe it was blackmail,
- 13:09Speaker 4: maybe it was you know, a million different things. And
- 13:13Speaker 4: I just am willing to hear hear him out just
- 13:17Speaker 4: from a legal standpoint. I'm not even talking about about football.
- 13:20Speaker 4: I like, you know, if you don't want a guy
- 13:22Speaker 4: like that on your football team, then that's a different But.
- 13:24Speaker 2: Let's let's play Patriots PR. None of us are in
- 13:27Speaker 2: the PR department, but let's pretend. Let's just say that
- 13:31Speaker 2: you heard us. You're on the Patriots, you know, not us,
- 13:34Speaker 2: but the higher ups, and you heard the story and say, Okay,
- 13:37Speaker 2: we're willing to let this play out. In the meantime,
- 13:41Speaker 2: he's at training camp, the media is at like, you know,
- 13:45Speaker 2: how do you deal with this as the team or
- 13:48Speaker 2: do you say we're gonna let it play out. We're
- 13:50Speaker 2: not gonna cut you yet, but you're not your Your
- 13:53Speaker 2: team is gonna suspend you with pay? Would you do that? Like,
- 13:56Speaker 2: how do you handle this if you're the team?
- 13:58Speaker 3: I mean, especially with how they like to run things
- 14:00Speaker 3: as it is.
- 14:00Speaker 6: I mean, they don't want guys to talk when they
- 14:02Speaker 6: you know, had a bad picture taking them or something,
- 14:04Speaker 6: you know, like they hide them in any kind of circumstance.
- 14:07Speaker 2: But the rules are like, you know, you have to
- 14:11Speaker 2: make players available, right, you know, over like once, I
- 14:14Speaker 2: don't know what the cadence is, but you can't hide
- 14:17Speaker 2: him forever.
- 14:18Speaker 6: I just I totally you know, understand Evan's point, and
- 14:21Speaker 6: I you know, respect that, like you have to wait somewhat.
- 14:24Speaker 6: But even if it turns out that there is like
- 14:27Speaker 6: the things that he's involved in are continuing to be
- 14:30Speaker 6: the problems.
- 14:30Speaker 3: That he had when you drafted him. You took a
- 14:33Speaker 3: chance on him.
- 14:34Speaker 6: He did get suspended by the team already once, so
- 14:36Speaker 6: I mean he he already does have a strike here
- 14:38Speaker 6: against him. So for me, even if it's somebody planted it,
- 14:42Speaker 6: somebody blackmail, what kind.
- 14:43Speaker 3: Of people are you involved with?
- 14:44Speaker 6: Like this is your continuing to follow down the path
- 14:48Speaker 6: that you were on when you got kicked out.
- 14:49Speaker 2: You need that boundary corners here. And I don't think
- 14:52Speaker 2: he's that good. I mean he's he's okay.
- 14:54Speaker 5: I think I think this is an easy one. It's
- 14:56Speaker 5: a it's a kid on his second year of his
- 14:59Speaker 5: rookie contract, doesn't make a whole lot of money. Like
- 15:01Speaker 5: there are like other factors involved with other guys that
- 15:05Speaker 5: have to be released that are much more complicated cap wise,
- 15:08Speaker 5: money wise.
- 15:09Speaker 4: This one to me is easy, right, This one's easy. Yeah.
- 15:12Speaker 4: So that that's the thing is I have a feeling
- 15:15Speaker 4: about it legally, but in terms of the Patriots and
- 15:18Speaker 4: the football team, it's what just said to me, I
- 15:21Speaker 4: don't think he's that good. I don't think he's that
- 15:23Speaker 4: good to go ahead and and and.
- 15:25Speaker 5: Deal with promise. I think he's a promising guy. But
- 15:28Speaker 5: I think people are sort of taking that, Like, I
- 15:31Speaker 5: know you were joking, Fred Rye.
- 15:35Speaker 7: I have a question, Fred, Yes, So you know how
- 15:38Speaker 7: like when we, as normal human beings, apply for a
- 15:42Speaker 7: job and ask you questions like have you ever been arrested,
- 15:45Speaker 7: have you ever been charged whatever?
- 15:46Speaker 4: Whatever?
- 15:47Speaker 5: Convicted?
- 15:48Speaker 7: Convicted?
- 15:53Speaker 2: So say if that.
- 15:54Speaker 7: Were one of us and we that that same thing
- 15:59Speaker 7: happened to us and we had to bring it to
- 16:01Speaker 7: your attention obviously because you asked that when we're applying
- 16:04Speaker 7: for the job, do you wait it out and see
- 16:07Speaker 7: or do you fire me on the spot.
- 16:08Speaker 3: If you got arrested, yes this weekend for bringing gun?
- 16:11Speaker 7: Yes, like like because as an employee, we.
- 16:13Speaker 5: We don't even pretend that any of us would still
- 16:15Speaker 5: be employee.
- 16:16Speaker 7: Seriously, I mean that.
- 16:17Speaker 2: Was us on Friday. I don't know what the actual.
- 16:19Speaker 7: Protocol, Like, what what is the protocol if if I'm
- 16:21Speaker 7: like pulled over for a DUI or I bring a
- 16:25Speaker 7: load of gun to the airport, or like what is
- 16:27Speaker 7: that for for like a regular employer?
- 16:29Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean it's an employment law questions.
- 16:32Speaker 2: HR would probably tell me what I have to do,
- 16:34Speaker 2: but I would be like it just with this kid.
- 16:37Speaker 2: I want to listen, but you're probably gone.
- 16:40Speaker 5: Yeah, like the blackmail angle, like if someone really like
- 16:43Speaker 5: legitimately set them up, that's, to Evan's point, something you'd
- 16:47Speaker 5: listen to. Yeah, But even then I fall I fall
- 16:50Speaker 5: back on on Mike's side. I just feel like, like,
- 16:54Speaker 5: what are you doing that someone would right?
- 16:56Speaker 2: What do you involved in?
- 16:57Speaker 5: I think the best you could possibly hope for is
- 16:59Speaker 5: that he had those guns in his bag and sort
- 17:03Speaker 5: of forgot that they were there.
- 17:05Speaker 2: Wh you have to be responsible for your fire exactly.
- 17:09Speaker 4: But that's the case.
- 17:12Speaker 7: I will say, like there have been and of course
- 17:15Speaker 7: I watched way too much crime television, but there has
- 17:19Speaker 7: been some crazy episodes where people have framed people for something, okay,
- 17:22Speaker 7: and law and order, But I mean some of that
- 17:25Speaker 7: stuff is based off real life. What if he owed
- 17:28Speaker 7: somebody some money and what if he didn't pay the
- 17:30Speaker 7: person the money and they're like, fine, I'm gonna.
- 17:32Speaker 4: Say why, but why does he owe the money? Like
- 17:35Speaker 4: I think you back to. I just don't think he's
- 17:37Speaker 4: that good of a football player, Like if you know
- 17:40Speaker 4: you brought up Tyreek Kill, Like Tyreek Hill is maybe
- 17:43Speaker 4: the best receiver in the NFL so and what he
- 17:46Speaker 4: did happened a long time ago, and I'm not justifying
- 17:49Speaker 4: it by any stretch of the imagination, but you can
- 17:52Speaker 4: understand why for that level of player, you might hear
- 17:57Speaker 4: him out or you might try to find a way
- 17:59Speaker 4: to to work around it. For Jack Jones, his film
- 18:04Speaker 4: last year was already inconsistent. I know he was a rookie,
- 18:07Speaker 4: but it just wasn't like it was this pristine, perfect
- 18:09Speaker 4: tape to begin with. And I don't think that he's
- 18:13Speaker 4: worth it. I don't think that he's worth the distraction.
- 18:16Speaker 4: I don't think that he's worth the circus that it's
- 18:18Speaker 4: going to bring to all your points about having Eventually
- 18:22Speaker 4: he's going to have to speak to the media and
- 18:24Speaker 4: he's not going to have Rose Capaccio standing next to
- 18:27Speaker 4: him when he talks to us after our training camp.
- 18:30Speaker 4: Practic might or Guy Fieri is So does all these
- 18:35Speaker 4: things just open you up to like a whole Now,
- 18:37Speaker 4: if you want to shut him down until this plays
- 18:41Speaker 4: out legally, and let's say that it does come to
- 18:43Speaker 4: light that something weird happened and he ends up not
- 18:47Speaker 4: going to prison for this, then maybe in twenty twenty
- 18:50Speaker 4: four you revisit having him on your football team. But
- 18:54Speaker 4: I just can't imagine having him on the team through
- 18:57Speaker 4: all of this, especially with the climate nowadays, with it
- 19:00Speaker 4: just it just.
- 19:02Speaker 2: It just seems like trouble is following this guy and
- 19:05Speaker 2: he's putting himself in bad positions. So I, like I said,
- 19:10Speaker 2: I want to know who's on Who is this guy?
- 19:13Speaker 2: Why is he? You know? Should we have him on
- 19:15Speaker 2: our team? You know? Period? So it's just it sucks.
- 19:21Speaker 2: It sucks.
- 19:22Speaker 6: It's like the root thing for all of us though,
- 19:23Speaker 6: it's just how could you possibly be if you did
- 19:26Speaker 6: that stupid to bring two loaded guns into an airport
- 19:30Speaker 6: like that like that? I just think that's what everyone
- 19:31Speaker 6: is like, how could you be that dumb? And if
- 19:34Speaker 6: you were that dumb, then you're out and explain to
- 19:37Speaker 6: me the magical story that could have possibly happened where
- 19:40Speaker 6: I didn't realize my guns were in there, Like all right,
- 19:43Speaker 6: but you're gonna be in trouble for that. There's no
- 19:44Speaker 6: accidents with that kind of stuff, I know.
- 19:46Speaker 5: So I and again like the whole responsible for your
- 19:50Speaker 5: your guns like that, that's that's an important part of this.
- 19:53Speaker 2: But it like I mean, I I put an extra
- 19:57Speaker 2: pair of shoes in my bag. Oh my bags have
- 19:59Speaker 2: heavy I mean two glocks and magazines. That's a lot
- 20:02Speaker 2: of way, yeah to me.
- 20:09Speaker 7: And the extra ammunition. That's that's where I'm like, right,
- 20:12Speaker 7: it just doesn't make.
- 20:13Speaker 4: Sense, That's what to me though, it's more about like
- 20:16Speaker 4: what circles are you running in? Who are your friends? Like,
- 20:19Speaker 4: who are the what is where are you going like
- 20:22Speaker 4: with that type of ammunition and that that type of
- 20:25Speaker 4: you know, weapons like that to me is more about
- 20:29Speaker 4: the future for Jack Jones. And that's like what's the
- 20:31Speaker 4: scary part is like the Paul's point, like we have
- 20:34Speaker 4: to get on a plane with this guy like in
- 20:36Speaker 4: a couple of months, Like those are the types that
- 20:38Speaker 4: you just don't why are you running in these circles?
- 20:41Speaker 4: And I think that there are warning signs of players
- 20:43Speaker 4: in the past that these little things come up and
- 20:46Speaker 4: then all of a sudden, a major, major thing comes up,
- 20:48Speaker 4: you know, a couple of years down the line, and
- 20:50Speaker 4: you had these warning signs and you just you can't
- 20:52Speaker 4: just ignore it, you know.
- 20:54Speaker 6: Do you feel like, I mean, you guys can speak
- 20:56Speaker 6: more to this and maybe this is not just doesn't
- 20:59Speaker 6: does the Aaron Hernandas think still hang over this organization
- 21:02Speaker 6: in a way that like this just that they can
- 21:04Speaker 6: to laurance policy with any of this kind of stuff
- 21:06Speaker 6: and any.
- 21:06Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't know about the no tolerance, but I
- 21:08Speaker 2: think the lesson there was there were warning signs.
- 21:12Speaker 4: That's that was sort of my point.
- 21:13Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 21:13Speaker 4: Yeah, I didn't want to bring the name he did, no, but.
- 21:15Speaker 2: That that was you know, that's the thing that came
- 21:18Speaker 2: out in the documentaries and everything, is that there were
- 21:22Speaker 2: warning signs with this guy, you know.
- 21:25Speaker 5: And that you know, when when Hernandez happened, you know,
- 21:28Speaker 5: and then you get all the aftermath, you immediately do that.
- 21:31Speaker 4: You go back in your mind and you're like, did
- 21:32Speaker 4: I know?
- 21:33Speaker 5: You know? And I you know, I'm not going to
- 21:35Speaker 5: pretend that I had a lot of in depth conversations
- 21:38Speaker 5: with Aaron Hernandez.
- 21:38Speaker 2: I didn't.
- 21:39Speaker 5: And most of the time I did talk to him
- 21:41Speaker 5: was in scrums, just like with most players. But there
- 21:44Speaker 5: were some times and I and I never got that feeling.
- 21:47Speaker 5: But you start to think, was I unsafe at any time?
- 21:50Speaker 5: Like I do like I do, I personalize it, was
- 21:53Speaker 5: I ever unsafe with this guy? He clearly was unhinged,
- 21:56Speaker 5: And that's the first thing I thought of, and that's
- 21:58Speaker 5: why I mentioned the thing about.
- 21:59Speaker 2: Who was it? Like, was it the Wes Welker story?
- 22:01Speaker 5: Yeah, Like I mean that's like if you're Wes Welker,
- 22:05Speaker 5: just not like that's what that's like your blood rush
- 22:08Speaker 5: is cold, right, like and you made he made fun
- 22:13Speaker 5: of him as he was watching film and then he
- 22:16Speaker 5: stormed out, Like who knows if like if it was
- 22:19Speaker 5: the wrong day, he might have stormed out and came
- 22:21Speaker 5: back and done something.
- 22:22Speaker 2: Well, so you know that one guy that he shot,
- 22:24Speaker 2: it was because he bumped.
- 22:25Speaker 5: Umped him in the bar, you know. Yeah, so that's
- 22:29Speaker 5: I don't know. I mean I haven't seen any evidence
- 22:32Speaker 5: like to you know, to be fair to Jack Jones,
- 22:34Speaker 5: I haven't seen any of this kind of violence in
- 22:37Speaker 5: his past, where Hernandez had a laundry list of violence
- 22:40Speaker 5: in his past. So I'm not trying to equate those two.
- 22:43Speaker 5: But at the same time, they both involved guns and
- 22:47Speaker 5: and and and that to me has got to be
- 22:49Speaker 5: something that that that the organization has to really look
- 22:53Speaker 5: long and.
- 22:53Speaker 2: And now I'm a sucker, I really am. You know,
- 22:56Speaker 2: if if Jack Jones comes to me, it's like and
- 23:00Speaker 2: has this are you know this explanation, like you want
- 23:04Speaker 2: to come back and tells me, you know, I really
- 23:06Speaker 2: want to be a better person, blah blah blah, Like
- 23:09Speaker 2: I could see myself falling for that, you know, yeah,
- 23:12Speaker 2: I could see myself falling through.
- 23:13Speaker 5: I think that's what her name is, did right, I know.
- 23:16Speaker 2: But he's a.
- 23:16Speaker 5: Charm could be a charming person.
- 23:18Speaker 4: This is so he went to USC, funks out of USC,
- 23:23Speaker 4: gets caught at the pandemic express transfers, falls in the
- 23:28Speaker 4: draft because of maturity and off field concerns, and then
- 23:33Speaker 4: gets suspended last and then like so at what point
- 23:36Speaker 4: you can't fall for the story every single time?
- 23:38Speaker 5: I know? Right? You know, yeah, that's the thing that separates,
- 23:41Speaker 5: you know, if you have you know, this is the
- 23:44Speaker 5: guy who you're rolling the dice with as a draft pick.
- 23:48Speaker 5: And that's why I think it's always more dangerous. And
- 23:50Speaker 5: I think if you look, most of the guys that
- 23:53Speaker 5: they took, character concerns have not always worked. And I
- 23:57Speaker 5: think it's pretty there's a pretty clear delineation when you
- 24:00Speaker 5: take a Corey Dillon or Randy Moss or whatever. And
- 24:03Speaker 5: you know, Albert Haynesworth, you know, you roll the dice
- 24:08Speaker 5: with a guy like that, and well, they've had success
- 24:10Speaker 5: with those in the past. Yeah. Corey Dillon, like he
- 24:12Speaker 5: came in, he had a great two thousand and four season.
- 24:15Speaker 5: By the middle of two thousand and five he was
- 24:17Speaker 5: already a pain in the ass. Randy Moss a little
- 24:20Speaker 5: bit longer, but kind of. But you're looking at those
- 24:23Speaker 5: I would say I would do those again. I would
- 24:25Speaker 5: do Dylan and Moss again. It worked, But you're taking
- 24:28Speaker 5: guys that are already established in their NFL careers. You're
- 24:31Speaker 5: not looking to get ten years out of those guys.
- 24:33Speaker 5: You draft a guy you're hoping, if it works, you're
- 24:36Speaker 5: gonna get six, seven, eight years out of them. I
- 24:39Speaker 5: think it's if the guy is a bad seed or
- 24:43Speaker 5: you know, chances are something's gonna surface. And with this guy,
- 24:47Speaker 5: as Evan just said, it surfaced immediately. He ended up
- 24:50Speaker 5: getting suspended in his first season.
- 24:52Speaker 2: So let's just say after August eighteenth, when he has
- 24:55Speaker 2: to go back, there's this story, this explanation. Do you
- 25:01Speaker 2: think that the Patriots are should get that story out
- 25:05Speaker 2: there to at least tell fIF this is why we're
- 25:08Speaker 2: willing to wait, or do they remain silent and nobody
- 25:11Speaker 2: ever knows, Like why the Patriots are willing to wait?
- 25:16Speaker 2: I mean, from a pr.
- 25:17Speaker 5: Standard, if I were, if I would, I would wait.
- 25:20Speaker 5: I think if you.
- 25:21Speaker 3: Don't think legally, you need to protect yourself.
- 25:23Speaker 5: If you don't say anything, you can't say anything wrong.
- 25:25Speaker 4: Yeah, you know, I'm just failing to like understand. I
- 25:30Speaker 4: keep coming back to, like, is the player worth all
- 25:32Speaker 4: of this? Like, and I'm not saying that you completely,
- 25:37Speaker 4: you know, throw the kid to the wolves, but like.
- 25:39Speaker 5: Well, if they choose to keep them on the team,
- 25:42Speaker 5: like right now, they've they've chosen so far to write
- 25:45Speaker 5: it out. But I wouldn't say why they're choosing to see.
- 25:48Speaker 2: There's messages that you send to your other players either way,
- 25:52Speaker 2: we're not going to tolerate this. You want to f around,
- 25:55Speaker 2: you're out. That's one message. The other messages there but
- 25:59Speaker 2: for the grace of God go I.
- 26:01Speaker 5: You know, we're willing to hear it out.
- 26:03Speaker 2: You know, we can all screw up or whatever this
- 26:06Speaker 2: story is could have happened to any of us. And
- 26:08Speaker 2: so as a team, we're a family, quote unquote, we're
- 26:12Speaker 2: gonna stick by him, and you know, see you know,
- 26:15Speaker 2: so that's another message is that we stick together.
- 26:18Speaker 4: But you know, if they're gonna don't know, if they're
- 26:20Speaker 4: going to go that route, then then I understand their thinking.
- 26:23Speaker 4: But I wouldn't have him out there for training camp,
- 26:26Speaker 4: like I wouldn't play him.
- 26:27Speaker 5: It's a total distraction, right, I would have him away
- 26:30Speaker 5: from that.
- 26:30Speaker 6: And I mean to put it in context of, you
- 26:34Speaker 6: know where this team is right now, I mean, not
- 26:36Speaker 6: to bring up the fact that you lost a couple
- 26:37Speaker 6: of TV practices. I mean, it's just it hasn't been
- 26:40Speaker 6: a great cycle here the last couple of years of
- 26:42Speaker 6: these kind of things, and like at some point you
- 26:45Speaker 6: have to make some bold kind of movies. I also
- 26:47Speaker 6: just wonder what's in his contract. I mean, he's he's signed.
- 26:49Speaker 2: Well, they all have the standard, you know, conduct detrimental
- 26:53Speaker 2: to the team, which you know you can cut a
- 26:55Speaker 2: guy any time for that type of stuff, So you know.
- 26:59Speaker 6: I imagine they have our I mean, I don't think
- 27:00Speaker 6: they should be in a rush to try to make
- 27:02Speaker 6: a decision. I mean, there's no you can't go back
- 27:04Speaker 6: once you make those those kind of calls. They have
- 27:07Speaker 6: to protect themselves. But I would say it would take
- 27:09Speaker 6: a miracle for him to be able to I could
- 27:13Speaker 6: see him getting out of this legally.
- 27:14Speaker 3: But still never playing for the Patriots.
- 27:16Speaker 2: All right, So that's that. And then the other story
- 27:20Speaker 2: that right now is DeAndre Hopkins. He was here, he's left.
- 27:25Speaker 2: There was a post by Matt Judon, the general manager,
- 27:30Speaker 2: number two on the team, lat familiar with him, and
- 27:33Speaker 2: everyone's like, oh, that's it, he's gonna sign, you know,
- 27:36Speaker 2: And obviously nothing has happened. So anybody have any inside
- 27:41Speaker 2: and like what's going on there?
- 27:44Speaker 6: I think it's the main thing that came out with
- 27:45Speaker 6: with the you know, respected people where that it's going
- 27:48Speaker 6: to take some time and he's in no rush to sign.
- 27:50Speaker 6: I know there were some other reports of him like
- 27:53Speaker 6: they were making a push.
- 27:54Speaker 2: Did anyone see those reports? I'm like, what the Patriots
- 27:58Speaker 2: are making a push?
- 27:59Speaker 3: That was according to a report from the athletics Jeff
- 28:01Speaker 3: how that that that Derondo Happlins was sticking around and
- 28:03Speaker 3: the Patriots are making a push. I guess nothing ever
- 28:05Speaker 3: actually came to that, but but I think what we said,
- 28:08Speaker 3: and most people said what we said, was that like
- 28:10Speaker 3: he came in, he's taken inventory. There's no reason for
- 28:12Speaker 3: him to sign right now.
- 28:14Speaker 6: Why why would he unless they were like we absolutely
- 28:16Speaker 6: need you here's a huge, ridiculous offer and then he
- 28:18Speaker 6: but I think he waits and see maybe another opportunity
- 28:21Speaker 6: opens up that that's even better, because if somebody gets
- 28:23Speaker 6: hurt in the first week.
- 28:24Speaker 5: Camp, Yauld, it would seem clear that no one's really
- 28:28Speaker 5: offered him, you know, one of those offers that you're
- 28:32Speaker 5: talking about, like that blows blows everybody away. I think
- 28:35Speaker 5: that the interest has been luke warm in terms of compensation,
- 28:39Speaker 5: and it's probably you know, I don't know, it's probably
- 28:43Speaker 5: rightly so, you know, but I think what kills him
- 28:47Speaker 5: is he's looking at Odell Beckham's contract. He played last
- 28:53Speaker 5: year O'Dell Beckham didn't and Baltimore was wanted to give him,
- 28:57Speaker 5: you know, fifteen guaranteed. So I can understand Hopkins. I
- 29:01Speaker 5: think Mike is right. I think, why wouldn't you just
- 29:04Speaker 5: wait it out and see if something happens with someone's
- 29:06Speaker 5: wide receiver room or someone gets a little desperate, as
- 29:09Speaker 5: you know, maybe you know, you're sort of watching the
- 29:12Speaker 5: film from mini camp and you you're looking over the
- 29:14Speaker 5: next you know, the coming weeks and you're like, wow,
- 29:17Speaker 5: we really don't have enough in this room. We got
- 29:19Speaker 5: to we got to get him. I don't know, man,
- 29:20Speaker 5: you know, if something like that happens, and then maybe
- 29:22Speaker 5: he's a little bit more track.
- 29:23Speaker 2: If fifteen million is what it's going to take, I
- 29:26Speaker 2: figure it out, how I work it so that you know,
- 29:29Speaker 2: it doesn't count against this year's cap as much. I
- 29:32Speaker 2: give him the fifteen million and let's go. Let's let's
- 29:36Speaker 2: let's let's go.
- 29:37Speaker 7: I mean, you have seen people turn their acls like
- 29:40Speaker 7: first week camp, so it's like not that it's not
- 29:42Speaker 7: possible that that could happen.
- 29:43Speaker 6: I don't know anybody who plays poker, why would you
- 29:47Speaker 6: cash in your chest before you need to play? As
- 29:49Speaker 6: long as you can see what's out there, and then
- 29:51Speaker 6: what does he want to sign now? So then he
- 29:53Speaker 6: can go on vacation and not be here for the
- 29:55Speaker 6: next two weeks, Like if anything, I could see it,
- 29:57Speaker 6: you know, maybe in the week leading up. Maybe then
- 29:59Speaker 6: they say, all right, let's let's get this done, so
- 30:01Speaker 6: you can be here right at the start. You can
- 30:02Speaker 6: you know, get in shape.
- 30:03Speaker 7: But well, when you look at it, the Titans and here,
- 30:06Speaker 7: you know who who would be like the best outcome
- 30:10Speaker 7: for him?
- 30:11Speaker 5: Like according to what an argument, Yeah, the Patriots are
- 30:17Speaker 5: a better team, but I think the better opportunity for
- 30:20Speaker 5: him is probably Tennessee because they really have a barren
- 30:24Speaker 5: wide receiver room.
- 30:25Speaker 2: But according to what he said, was important to him
- 30:29Speaker 2: the second time around, not the first time, you know,
- 30:31Speaker 2: was you know, the uh stable leadership, check for both,
- 30:37Speaker 2: you know, a quarterback who loves the game, check for both,
- 30:42Speaker 2: you know, and then what was the third defense? And
- 30:45Speaker 2: really a great defense? He said, And you know, this.
- 30:49Speaker 5: Is what I'm saying. I think there's I can make
- 30:51Speaker 5: an argument for both sides. I think the Patriots are
- 30:53Speaker 5: a better team. I think right now they're probably probably
- 30:58Speaker 5: better on paper than Tennis he is. I think. I
- 31:01Speaker 5: mean that doesn't mean I'm right, but but I think
- 31:04Speaker 5: you can make an argument for all of those things
- 31:06Speaker 5: on Tennessee side. And I thought it was interesting. I
- 31:08Speaker 5: think our buddy Gardy had a tweet about, you know,
- 31:12Speaker 5: the Patriots meeting went very well. That's exactly what they're
- 31:15Speaker 5: saying about his meeting with Tennessee. It felt like it
- 31:18Speaker 5: was a very good meeting, and you know, both of
- 31:20Speaker 5: them were two days. So like, I think it's up
- 31:24Speaker 5: to to me, it's up to him. I think he could.
- 31:27Speaker 5: He's I think he's got what he wants quote unquote
- 31:30Speaker 5: from either one of those. I think he probably would
- 31:32Speaker 5: rather even though we didn't say it, he'd probably rather
- 31:35Speaker 5: go to a contender than Tennessee or in New England.
- 31:39Speaker 4: This reeks to me of him using the Patriots and
- 31:42Speaker 4: Titans as leverage to get a better totally get into sweepstakes.
- 31:45Speaker 4: And if I'm a Patriots fan, I'm not counting on
- 31:48Speaker 4: him signing here anymore because something tells me that I
- 31:53Speaker 4: would say, if I had to bet money on, it'd
- 31:55Speaker 4: probably be Kansas City. But he's just biding time for
- 31:59Speaker 4: somebody like Kansas City. It's like Buffalo, you know, one
- 32:03Speaker 4: of these other teams to finagle away with the cap
- 32:06Speaker 4: to make enough money in terms of salary cap space.
- 32:09Speaker 4: You know that the Chiefs are are talking with Chris
- 32:12Speaker 4: Jones about a contract extension. They could you give him
- 32:15Speaker 4: a contract extension with a bunch of money up front
- 32:18Speaker 4: and lower his cap number this year, and then all
- 32:19Speaker 4: of a sudden, here's eight million dollars free of the
- 32:22Speaker 4: cap to give to DeAndre Hopkins. You know something like that.
- 32:25Speaker 4: I just think that this is him saying, these are
- 32:29Speaker 4: like my my plan. B's right, like these are myty
- 32:32Speaker 4: these are my safe, my safe schools. But you know,
- 32:34Speaker 4: if if Harvard comes along and gives me an acceptance letter,
- 32:38Speaker 4: That's where I'm going.
- 32:39Speaker 7: Right Even like with the Bills, you mentioned the Bills,
- 32:41Speaker 7: Evan with Diggs, what is going on there and if
- 32:44Speaker 7: like he doesn't stay there then that they could go
- 32:47Speaker 7: after all out.
- 32:48Speaker 2: Now the Bills come after him hard.
- 32:50Speaker 7: Yeah for sure. Yeah, I have no idea what's happening.
- 32:52Speaker 4: Well, it's going to be a bill. I mean, Thig's
- 32:54Speaker 4: gonna be a Bill. But I think the bigger question
- 32:57Speaker 4: is is really either a mystery team or I really
- 33:02Speaker 4: think Kansas City is the is the other team in
- 33:04Speaker 4: Kansas City has some nice pieces besides Kelsey, but they
- 33:07Speaker 4: don't really have a true number two guy to go to.
- 33:10Speaker 4: And Juju was really their number two guy last year
- 33:12Speaker 4: and they didn't exactly replace him a one for one.
- 33:15Speaker 4: So I look at the Chiefs, and then there are
- 33:17Speaker 4: also some dark horse teams that you never know, like
- 33:20Speaker 4: a team like Jacksonville has some wiggle room. Some of
- 33:23Speaker 4: these other teams that are maybe a little bit more
- 33:27Speaker 4: contender status than you and they come along in the
- 33:31Speaker 4: last minute and swoop in.
- 33:32Speaker 5: I know they didn't overlap, but Lawrence and Hopkins, I
- 33:36Speaker 5: wonder if they have any relationship from Clemson, right Tigers?
- 33:42Speaker 5: Who knows.
- 33:43Speaker 6: I just need the Patriots need him, they need them,
- 33:45Speaker 6: I really do. I mean it might be fine with
- 33:48Speaker 6: Thornton and you know, to get Juju into the mix,
- 33:51Speaker 6: and maybe it'll look different when those guys are out there.
- 33:53Speaker 5: But yeah, because I was I actually you guys swayed.
- 33:56Speaker 2: Me on this.
- 33:57Speaker 5: Remember I was a little more lukewarm than both of
- 33:59Speaker 5: you were, and then sort of the spring has sort
- 34:02Speaker 5: of really got me to your side because I just
- 34:04Speaker 5: see how tenuous the room can be health wise. Yeah,
- 34:08Speaker 5: and I think those guys all have injury history. Really
- 34:14Speaker 5: the only one that doesn't have real injury history is Born,
- 34:17Speaker 5: but Parker, Juju, and Taekwon Thornton all have been banged
- 34:22Speaker 5: up and obviously miss time during the spring, so you
- 34:25Speaker 5: see how tenuous it can be. I'm kind of more
- 34:27Speaker 5: on You guys have suaded.
- 34:28Speaker 6: Me just I mean you get down to I mean,
- 34:30Speaker 6: it was it was starring to me last week with
- 34:33Speaker 6: just Parker and Born out there, and you know, even
- 34:35Speaker 6: with Gasiki in the mix, like and Bill O'Brien, I
- 34:38Speaker 6: don't I don't think it's enough to really give you
- 34:40Speaker 6: at least a fighting chance and to feel like, all right,
- 34:43Speaker 6: we have enough to go into this season with some hope,
- 34:46Speaker 6: Like I for that to happen for me right now,
- 34:48Speaker 6: I need to see Juju and Taekwon Thorton get back
- 34:50Speaker 6: out there in training camp and be like wow, all right,
- 34:53Speaker 6: like they're clicking, Like all right, I think we'll be
- 34:55Speaker 6: okay without Hawkins, but I got I got a hard
- 34:58Speaker 6: time seeing that happen and for those guys to stay
- 35:00Speaker 6: out there to your point, Paul the whole time, like
- 35:01Speaker 6: be you know, every day training camp, every day consistent, Thornton,
- 35:05Speaker 6: all three games, Like.
- 35:06Speaker 4: I just think that I agree with you one hundred
- 35:08Speaker 4: percent of that they need Hopkins, But based off of
- 35:11Speaker 4: the fact that he left without a contract, that tells
- 35:13Speaker 4: me that they don't feel that desperate necessarily, because the
- 35:17Speaker 4: only way that you were going to get him to
- 35:18Speaker 4: sign and not wait this thing out as he's doing,
- 35:21Speaker 4: is if you gave him a contract that was just
- 35:23Speaker 4: too good to pass up, and clearly they did it.
- 35:26Speaker 4: I don't I'm not saying that they didn't offer him
- 35:27Speaker 4: a fair deal, but I don't think that they blew
- 35:29Speaker 4: him away with a contract offer, otherwise he'd already signed.
- 35:32Speaker 5: So one thing I found really interesting, little little humble brag.
- 35:36Speaker 5: I was doing the TV show Friday night with NBC
- 35:40Speaker 5: Sports bosson. Obviously, seven other people canceled because I got
- 35:43Speaker 5: I got the call on Friday, but I was on
- 35:46Speaker 5: with Phil Perry and Phil mentioned something along the lines
- 35:49Speaker 5: of what Evan's talking about, like, you know, we can
- 35:51Speaker 5: sit back and look and say, they got to do
- 35:53Speaker 5: what they can. They got to get Hopkins, they got
- 35:54Speaker 5: to you know, And he said that it's his understanding
- 36:00Speaker 5: that they don't agree. The Patriots do not agree that
- 36:03Speaker 5: the wide receiver room is in desperate need of DeAndre Hopkins.
- 36:08Speaker 5: Now maybe that's part of negotiating. Maybe you get that
- 36:10Speaker 5: out there with some of the guys that you know,
- 36:13Speaker 5: are you know, big voices on the beat, and you
- 36:16Speaker 5: let that, you know, hey, DeAndre, we'd love to have you,
- 36:20Speaker 5: but we really don't have to have yet. We don't
- 36:22Speaker 5: need you, we want you, you know. Maybe that's that's
- 36:25Speaker 5: all it is. But I kind of take it at
- 36:27Speaker 5: face value. I think the Patriots themselves don't think the
- 36:31Speaker 5: situation is as dire as we in the media do.
- 36:33Speaker 4: Yeah. I mean it's just one man's opinion. But PFF
- 36:36Speaker 4: posted a wide receiver rankings all thirty two teams in
- 36:40Speaker 4: their wide receiver rooms. The Patriots were twenty ninth. Oh wow,
- 36:43Speaker 4: twenty ninth in the league. And they're doing it based
- 36:45Speaker 4: off of what their grades were for guys last year
- 36:47Speaker 4: and analytically where those guys stacked up last A little low,
- 36:51Speaker 4: but I thought it was a little low too. But
- 36:53Speaker 4: where you're talking about at best league average, Yeah, and
- 36:58Speaker 4: I have worse twenty nine twenty nine.
- 37:01Speaker 5: I mean, so Tennessee's got to be one of those
- 37:04Speaker 5: three behind them, right, Yeah.
- 37:05Speaker 2: When you look at the division that we're in, that's
- 37:09Speaker 2: to me why that alone is the case for Hopkins.
- 37:13Speaker 2: You know, just you know, being middle of the pack
- 37:16Speaker 2: isn't good enough to get.
- 37:18Speaker 5: And I just feel like it's it's so tenuous because
- 37:20Speaker 5: of that health situation.
- 37:21Speaker 6: Right, all of a sudden, you're gonna be in week
- 37:23Speaker 6: four and you're like, wow, this is the exact same
- 37:25Speaker 6: offense we rolled out last year, and you know, our
- 37:27Speaker 6: expectations are higher.
- 37:28Speaker 5: For some reason, you lose, you know, a guy needs
- 37:31Speaker 5: a week or two off, and you're like, what you
- 37:34Speaker 5: saw in the spring and guys having trouble separating and
- 37:37Speaker 5: you know, really a side of Mike Kasicki who consistently
- 37:41Speaker 5: got open in the spring. Kasiki did no. But I
- 37:45Speaker 5: don't really think the wide receivers would do.
- 37:47Speaker 6: Parker the same thing we've seen from him, and that's
- 37:49Speaker 6: what he is. It's it's fine, but I mean i'd
- 37:52Speaker 6: play it to Mac too. I mean, I you know,
- 37:53Speaker 6: I don't love like we gotta find what we have
- 37:55Speaker 6: in Mac, but I just want to feel, you know,
- 37:58Speaker 6: I know Paul's dreading that somehow we're gonna make it
- 37:59Speaker 6: through this year and everyone's gonna be like we didn't
- 38:01Speaker 6: do enough for Mac, Like I still need to see
- 38:04Speaker 6: something out of him. Even if they didn't do anything,
- 38:06Speaker 6: it didn't bring.
- 38:06Speaker 5: Hopkins not being completely obvious. Yeah, that's what I like
- 38:11Speaker 5: this time next year. I don't want to be saying
- 38:14Speaker 5: maybe he's.
- 38:15Speaker 2: The guy, isn't it With Mac?
- 38:19Speaker 4: Though, Like to me, I I've already kind of gotten
- 38:21Speaker 4: to the point where with him, I feel like you
- 38:24Speaker 4: do need to surround him with an arsenal, like you know,
- 38:27Speaker 4: I think it's similar to you know, how San Francisco
- 38:30Speaker 4: has built their team over the last couple of years
- 38:33Speaker 4: with with their quarterback situation, You're not gonna be like
- 38:36Speaker 4: a competitive playoff team with with without make it work
- 38:40Speaker 4: George Kittle and Deebo Samuel and Christian McCaffrey and like
- 38:43Speaker 4: those level of players, And they don't have any of
- 38:46Speaker 4: those level of players right now. Maybe Hopkins could be that.
- 38:48Speaker 6: Yeah, well let's find out, you know, like everyone says like,
- 38:50Speaker 6: well Mac could be good when he's got talent, So
- 38:52Speaker 6: are we gonna find out, Like, are we just going
- 38:54Speaker 6: to try say that, Oh, well Mac would be great
- 38:56Speaker 6: with talent around him, But let's just try to make
- 38:58Speaker 6: it hard on him and put no talent around.
- 39:00Speaker 2: Let's just try our best.
- 39:01Speaker 6: He needs time to give him what he needs to
- 39:03Speaker 6: see because maybe he maybe he will bossom.
- 39:06Speaker 7: I mean, that's what he had at Alabama. And I
- 39:08Speaker 7: feel like when he has the great offensive line, he
- 39:11Speaker 7: has the great arsenal like that.
- 39:13Speaker 3: The pro level at the pro level, Yeah, it will
- 39:16Speaker 3: it work at a pro level.
- 39:17Speaker 6: And his and his DeAndre Hopkins and Taekwon Thorn and
- 39:19Speaker 6: Juju Smith Schuster enough to you. I know it's not
- 39:23Speaker 6: the NFL equivalent of what he had at Alabama, But
- 39:26Speaker 6: is it enough to at least make them competitive with
- 39:28Speaker 6: some of.
- 39:28Speaker 7: These who's the running back that got released?
- 39:31Speaker 2: I can't with Alvin, yes.
- 39:34Speaker 3: Whatever, I mean, I don't know. I like Remandro Stevenson.
- 39:37Speaker 6: I don't feel like he needs help, like really think
- 39:40Speaker 6: that's the help you need, though, you know, I mean,
- 39:42Speaker 6: if if you want to talk to me about a
- 39:44Speaker 6: real good receiving back, then maybe.
- 39:45Speaker 3: But I don't know. I mean, I don't know enough
- 39:47Speaker 3: about Dalvin.
- 39:47Speaker 4: I do think that they need to add another running back,
- 39:49Speaker 4: like because you're going into the year expecting Kevin Harrison
- 39:53Speaker 4: Pierre Strong to basically replace the carries at Damien Harris.
- 39:56Speaker 5: And it's funny because that was a like one of
- 39:58Speaker 5: the mini themes of the mail back that I just
- 40:00Speaker 5: posted this morning, and and I am. I'm high on
- 40:04Speaker 5: both of those guys me too, Kevin Harris and Pierre Strong.
- 40:07Speaker 5: I thought they were pretty active in the spring. But
- 40:11Speaker 5: it is kind of a dice roll to say time Montgomery,
- 40:15Speaker 5: Kevin har.
- 40:16Speaker 2: Oh, we're live, Okay, Okay, all right?
- 40:19Speaker 4: People maybe like tweet at us or something.
- 40:21Speaker 5: There was a lot of construction going on, and I
- 40:24Speaker 5: don't rule that out that something got knocked off.
- 40:27Speaker 2: So everyone heard we were off to that you made amazing.
- 40:32Speaker 2: It's good to see. So if you missed it, we
- 40:36Speaker 2: did sign Hopkins. I'm only kidding.
- 40:39Speaker 5: Just to recap the running back situation, right. I do
- 40:44Speaker 5: feel like I'm high on those two second year running
- 40:48Speaker 5: backs and time Montgomery I think has the ability to
- 40:52Speaker 5: to be a good you know, Swiss army knife and
- 40:55Speaker 5: fill in at either spot, provide some depth a wide
- 40:57Speaker 5: receiver or running back. But it is a little ten
- 41:00Speaker 5: that you know you loose. I'm not even talking about Stevenson.
- 41:04Speaker 5: But if you lose a guy, do you have.
- 41:07Speaker 7: Enough and you can even add him to your list
- 41:10Speaker 7: earlier about you know, his his history with injuries to
- 41:15Speaker 7: the list that you had earlier.
- 41:16Speaker 4: He's on that list too.
- 41:19Speaker 2: Up, you're hungry, right, Maybe that's it I think too.
- 41:23Speaker 6: It's always an interesting point in a team, though, where
- 41:24Speaker 6: you have a couple of young guys that you drafted
- 41:26Speaker 6: and maybe they didn't prove themselves to a point where
- 41:28Speaker 6: we are excited about these guys.
- 41:30Speaker 3: They did a couple of little things. You drafted them.
- 41:33Speaker 3: You feel like you'd like to turn it over to them,
- 41:35Speaker 3: but you're just not quite like one hundred to give.
- 41:38Speaker 5: It I want to go into training camp and say,
- 41:40Speaker 5: I'm I drafted these two guys. They were in their
- 41:42Speaker 5: second year. This is what I drafted them for. I
- 41:45Speaker 5: would like to try to die with them. And then
- 41:47Speaker 5: if you get into like the preseason and you're like,
- 41:49Speaker 5: we don't have enough, you can always get a running
- 41:51Speaker 5: back because running backs get released all the time because
- 41:55Speaker 5: you know, look, Delvin Cook is an incredible I mean, yeah,
- 41:58Speaker 5: I'm not in anticipating them.
- 42:00Speaker 7: Paul's gotta eat his food.
- 42:01Speaker 2: We'll be back. I think we're back. All right, We're
- 42:04Speaker 2: gonna take a break. Paul's foods here. I'm gonna figure
- 42:06Speaker 2: this out. We'll be right back.

- 50:22Speaker 2: And now great moments in history. Began tripped and sprained ankle.
- 50:30Speaker 5: What happens when you run?
- 50:31Speaker 2: I sprained ma go pretty bad.
- 50:33Speaker 5: That's why you gave it up, right, Yeah, I've never
- 50:37Speaker 5: fallen down while walking.
- 50:38Speaker 2: I'm just saying the kindly park ranger. Still that cross
- 50:42Speaker 2: country stuff in the woods. I did have to get
- 50:44Speaker 2: a ride home today though, thankfu. That was that was
- 50:48Speaker 2: that was Megan this morning. I can't go to the
- 50:55Speaker 2: park range that comes righting over was take steel? You know,
- 51:08Speaker 2: would you like to look at the red well.
- 51:10Speaker 16: I was a little nervous because I got the ride
- 51:13Speaker 16: home from this park ranger. But I didn't want him
- 51:15Speaker 16: to know where I live, because that's he's trying to creepy.
- 51:18Speaker 3: It's so good that we have like the hat on
- 51:21Speaker 3: and the shorts and everything.
- 51:22Speaker 5: Well he had shorts, yes man, no mustache, right, he had.
- 51:26Speaker 4: His arboretum car.
- 51:28Speaker 16: It was labeled and everything. And h I run through
- 51:31Speaker 16: there often, so I'm going to see him again, and
- 51:33Speaker 16: now he knows where I live, so I don't really
- 51:35Speaker 16: I don't really like that. I wanted him to drop
- 51:37Speaker 16: me off like a little ways away, but I really
- 51:39Speaker 16: couldn't walk, so it left me.
- 51:41Speaker 2: Here's fine, Actually, no, keep on wait yet.
- 51:44Speaker 16: Then it would be awkward because I'd be limping down
- 51:46Speaker 16: the sidewalk and.
- 51:47Speaker 2: You had to make a campfire. You have to rub,
- 51:52Speaker 2: always have to take take away.
- 51:55Speaker 1: With us.
- 51:56Speaker 10: You have to do it.
- 51:57Speaker 2: That's another great moment from.
- 52:01Speaker 5: Mb man.
- 52:03Speaker 2: Yeah, it's the great Megan O'Brien now known as Megan Morent.
- 52:10Speaker 2: So thanks for holding on with us. We had some
- 52:13Speaker 2: technical issues. I think we're all all okay now ready
- 52:17Speaker 2: to go. You sound great, but it was it was weird,
- 52:19Speaker 2: you know, like all of a sudden, like everything just
- 52:22Speaker 2: shut off something. Yeah, there is construction going on as
- 52:26Speaker 2: you know. So we're talking. We're talking about a little
- 52:29Speaker 2: d hob. We're talking some running backs, obviously the Jack
- 52:32Speaker 2: Jones story, but something that came up during the break.
- 52:37Speaker 2: It's a good off season topic. It's good because you know,
- 52:41Speaker 2: Tomorrow was going through the news and that they have
- 52:44Speaker 2: that submarine that people paid two hundred and fifty thousand
- 52:47Speaker 2: dollars to go see the Titanic and it's missing. They
- 52:50Speaker 2: can't find it. People are on it.
- 52:52Speaker 4: Shocker.
- 52:53Speaker 2: Yeah, and you know, I think all of us agree
- 52:56Speaker 2: with I wouldn't do that. I wouldn't pay two hundred
- 52:58Speaker 2: and fifty thousand. But if we had the money, I
- 53:00Speaker 2: think myself, Evan, we'd go to space for Paul would
- 53:05Speaker 2: be no space.
- 53:08Speaker 4: I can't believe.
- 53:09Speaker 2: Yeah I would. I would go to space.
- 53:11Speaker 4: Do you call yourself a Star Wars fan then you
- 53:13Speaker 4: say you don't want to go to space.
- 53:14Speaker 5: I guess if you if you're posting that, you truly
- 53:18Speaker 5: have like unlimited resources. And it's kind of hard for
- 53:24Speaker 5: me to say, like I would pick two hundred and
- 53:25Speaker 5: fifty thousand dollars just something. I'm really all not all that,
- 53:27Speaker 5: But if I had that kind of money that it
- 53:29Speaker 5: just did more.
- 53:30Speaker 2: What if why not? What if it was free and
- 53:32Speaker 2: somebody said, hey, you want to come on the space trip?
- 53:35Speaker 2: Would you do it.
- 53:37Speaker 5: Right now?
- 53:38Speaker 7: No?
- 53:38Speaker 2: Well we got the show. After the show.
- 53:42Speaker 3: I'm saying now, in my life, you wouldn't miss any
- 53:45Speaker 3: mini camp at all.
- 53:48Speaker 5: If you could promise it would be day one of
- 53:50Speaker 5: training camp until week one of the regular season.
- 53:54Speaker 4: I did heartbeat.
- 53:56Speaker 5: See.
- 53:56Speaker 2: I even said that, like, if someone posed to me,
- 53:59Speaker 2: will send you on this ship and you're just going
- 54:01Speaker 2: to keep going to the far reaches of space and
- 54:03Speaker 2: you're gonna die up there, or you have five more
- 54:06Speaker 2: years to live and that's it. I would do the
- 54:09Speaker 2: space thing.
- 54:10Speaker 3: Just launch you, yeah, launch you to mercury.
- 54:12Speaker 4: I'm not sure I would go that far, but I
- 54:13Speaker 4: would definitely go to space if I had. I said,
- 54:17Speaker 4: if I was Jeff Bezos and I had a billion
- 54:19Speaker 4: dollars and it costs me two hundred and fifty k
- 54:21Speaker 4: to go to space next flight, I'm on it.
- 54:24Speaker 2: What do you think? Like, I don't know, I'm just like, Yeah.
- 54:28Speaker 2: It's like if you talk to the astronauts that have
- 54:32Speaker 2: done this, that have landed on the Moon, it literally
- 54:35Speaker 2: it changes their life. It gives them a whole new perspective. Now,
- 54:38Speaker 2: some of them came back kind of weirdos, you know,
- 54:41Speaker 2: but for the most part it it gave them this
- 54:44Speaker 2: whole new perspective of how small we how small we are,
- 54:47Speaker 2: and how grateful we should be for what we have.
- 54:50Speaker 2: And you know, the whole thing.
- 54:52Speaker 4: I just want to act like I'm in Star Wars.
- 54:53Speaker 4: I don't really care about your rest.
- 54:55Speaker 2: And you sort of go out there.
- 54:55Speaker 3: You can make lightsaber noises, yeah, yeah, oh yeah, absolutely.
- 54:59Speaker 2: Nerd in the backs stop we're trying to.
- 55:01Speaker 4: I did the Kessel right, That's all I would be
- 55:09Speaker 4: saying the whole the time I was up there.
- 55:11Speaker 3: I just I just don't like heights.
- 55:15Speaker 5: But that would be a drawback. He's actually looking down
- 55:19Speaker 5: on Earth. What about a space walk?
- 55:20Speaker 6: Now, see now, if there was a spacewalk involved in it,
- 55:22Speaker 6: then I might I might get tempted. But just like
- 55:24Speaker 6: to go up in a ship and kind of like
- 55:25Speaker 6: sit there and you're flying, You're like, yeah, we're not
- 55:28Speaker 6: even like really in space.
- 55:29Speaker 2: You're just like, well, we passed the line. We're in space,
- 55:31Speaker 2: but it doesn't.
- 55:31Speaker 3: Look like space yet because you're not like the one.
- 55:37Speaker 2: What was the movie with Brad Pitt Vox No Fight Club? Now,
- 55:46Speaker 2: now I can't remember where he goes to find his
- 55:49Speaker 2: father who's been lost, like in the Rings of Saturn.
- 55:53Speaker 2: I don't mean that movie. Oh it's really good. I
- 55:55Speaker 2: loved it. Interstellar No came out after Interstellar.
- 55:59Speaker 6: Somebody's gonna newer movie though, Yeah, newer movie was like
- 56:02Speaker 6: I was thinking, like The Martian was a pretty good one.
- 56:04Speaker 2: That ad Astra ad Astra. Okay, I didn't see excellent movie.
- 56:10Speaker 2: I will that's that's what I want I want to
- 56:13Speaker 2: go out there, you know. I don't want to just
- 56:15Speaker 2: orbit Earth. I want to get out there, you know,
- 56:18Speaker 2: with you. Yeah, well they throw you out.
- 56:20Speaker 3: Let you do spacewalk.
- 56:21Speaker 2: You don't want to tether missing out.
- 56:23Speaker 4: I see spacewalk on tether scared because that is really
- 56:27Speaker 4: easy to just float and then you're just that too.
- 56:30Speaker 2: I'm up for that.
- 56:31Speaker 3: That Sandra Bullet movie was pretty good too, with her
- 56:33Speaker 3: like that.
- 56:35Speaker 2: I thought that was a great movie. Was a good one.
- 56:36Speaker 3: And three D, yeah, I saw that three D in
- 56:39Speaker 3: the theater was good.
- 56:40Speaker 2: Yeah, all right. Michael eight five five Pats five hundred
- 56:46Speaker 2: is the a stick and hotline eight five five Pats
- 56:48Speaker 2: five hundred web radio at patriots dot com is the
- 56:53Speaker 2: email address. Got a lot of emails coming in, a
- 56:55Speaker 2: lot of emails, so let's, uh, let's get to them. Obviously,
- 57:02Speaker 2: Jack Jones is on a lot of people's minds. Franklin
- 57:04Speaker 2: and Baltimore writes in I'd buy Jack Jones negligence defense
- 57:08Speaker 2: if the guns weren't loaded. The fact that they were
- 57:11Speaker 2: and had high capacity magazines equipped to boot suggest to
- 57:15Speaker 2: me he meant to take them with him to wherever
- 57:17Speaker 2: he was going, because he thought he would need them,
- 57:20Speaker 2: which is a scary thought in and of itself, because
- 57:22Speaker 2: then you have to think, well, where the hell was
- 57:24Speaker 2: he going where he thought he needed them fully loaded
- 57:27Speaker 2: in a bag? Yeah, I mean, this is all speculation,
- 57:30Speaker 2: you know, but it's it's fair for people to wonder.
- 57:34Speaker 6: I mean, it's fair for people to wonder if he
- 57:35Speaker 6: was going to hijack the plane. I mean, that's you know,
- 57:38Speaker 6: I mean, that's why else I can't wrap my head
- 57:42Speaker 6: around it.
- 57:42Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 57:43Speaker 4: Apparently it was in a Duffel bag that he was
- 57:46Speaker 4: carrying and then put down on the security belt, and
- 57:52Speaker 4: they and went with.
- 57:53Speaker 3: His shoes and his laptop and his belt right right, like,
- 57:56Speaker 3: so that's why it just I don't know.
- 57:58Speaker 4: I mean he powered down laptop in a Duffel bag too,
- 58:03Speaker 4: Like now you're carrying it over your shoulder in a
- 58:05Speaker 4: double bag. You don't hear clanking or like a you know,
- 58:08Speaker 4: something heavy in there, even you know, I was the
- 58:11Speaker 4: one that came out at first and was like I
- 58:13Speaker 4: want to hear him out even I'm starting to what's
- 58:16Speaker 4: this thing?
- 58:16Speaker 2: I mean, tell me I want to hear I gotta care.
- 58:18Speaker 3: What do you got, Like, give me the story.
- 58:19Speaker 2: I just I gotta hear it got James McLeod our,
- 58:23Speaker 2: resident artist Cartoonists, says Fred. So, do we now have
- 58:28Speaker 2: a football intelligence scale of Josh Allen to two loaded guns.
- 58:31Speaker 5: And to carry on? Absolutely?
- 58:35Speaker 2: That's good, David Bethlehem. So we brought his range bag
- 58:39Speaker 2: to the airport by accident with his undies and toiletries
- 58:43Speaker 2: which he always brought to the range. Paul has it right,
- 58:46Speaker 2: caught him. Can't let this guy walk into the building
- 58:49Speaker 2: because you never know what he has in his bag, waistband,
- 58:52Speaker 2: et cetera. Who would feel safe?
- 58:55Speaker 5: Yeah, thanks for putting that in my head.
- 58:58Speaker 4: Yeah, sick.
- 59:01Speaker 2: Robin in Alaska. Jack Jones, after actually having these guns
- 59:04Speaker 2: in his baggage, pled not guilty. So he's going with
- 59:07Speaker 2: the shaggy defense, wasn't.
- 59:09Speaker 5: Me, Well, you kind of have to plead, of course, Yeah,
- 59:13Speaker 5: you plead.
- 59:14Speaker 2: Guilty to the charges. That doesn't mean that you didn't
- 59:16Speaker 2: do anything wrong. But what they're accusing me of I
- 59:19Speaker 2: didn't do, you know, But yeah, I don't know Ryan
- 59:24Speaker 2: and Dublin. Paul said on Thursday show with that he
- 59:27Speaker 2: hopes Jack Jones pops off this coming year. I'm pretty
- 59:30Speaker 2: sure if this wasn't the pop he was thinking of.
- 59:35Speaker 5: Poor choice of words.
- 59:36Speaker 2: Yeah, let's see Alan in Texas count me as the
- 59:42Speaker 2: one that can't find any reason that Jack Jones did
- 59:44Speaker 2: not know there were guns in his carry on. I
- 59:46Speaker 2: agree with you, Fred that the weight alone would be
- 59:49Speaker 2: enough for you to realize something was added to your
- 59:51Speaker 2: carry on. They also agree with Evan that this is
- 59:54Speaker 2: too stupid. In this day and age, you cannot possibly
- 59:57Speaker 2: think that you can get away with bringing any weapon
- 1:00:00Speaker 2: on a flight. There were times that I brought my
- 1:00:02Speaker 2: cigar cutter and wondered if TSA was going to take it.
- 1:00:06Speaker 2: Jack Jones is not worth keeping at this point. But
- 1:00:08Speaker 2: that's that's kind of whatever. It's so stupid, right like that,
- 1:00:13Speaker 2: you almost could believe the door open. But to me,
- 1:00:19Speaker 2: even if you're like, well, I'm from another state and
- 1:00:23Speaker 2: there's no place where you can bring a gunloaded guns
- 1:00:26Speaker 2: on a plane nowhere, that's that's national.
- 1:00:29Speaker 5: Law, right. Like Quentin Williams, you know, for the Jets,
- 1:00:32Speaker 5: had a situation where he did it, like he went
- 1:00:35Speaker 5: in tried to check it in and told them so listen,
- 1:00:37Speaker 5: I have my guns. They registered that, and he's still
- 1:00:39Speaker 5: got in trouble, right, like even being completely upfront.
- 1:00:43Speaker 2: He was trying to do the right thing his mind.
- 1:00:45Speaker 5: Because he thought he could do it right. So I
- 1:00:48Speaker 5: just have to check him in you know.
- 1:00:49Speaker 4: Yeah, he actually that case, he they threw out the
- 1:00:53Speaker 4: charges essentially because it was just a misunderstanding of how
- 1:00:57Speaker 4: he was supposed to transport. You have to check them,
- 1:01:00Speaker 4: you have to tell them, you have to check them,
- 1:01:02Speaker 4: and you have to go through a whole process. But
- 1:01:03Speaker 4: it is allowed to check hey, unloaded, perfectly put together gun.
- 1:01:10Speaker 4: But in the Quentin Williams's case, he just kind of
- 1:01:13Speaker 4: read the rules wrong or something like that, and it
- 1:01:15Speaker 4: was more of like a technicality.
- 1:01:17Speaker 3: But at least there was effort, because if there's anywhere
- 1:01:19Speaker 3: in the whole country that you can't bring a gun,
- 1:01:22Speaker 3: that everyone should know.
- 1:01:23Speaker 6: It's into an airport, and is there anywhere else that's
- 1:01:26Speaker 6: above that in terms of.
- 1:01:27Speaker 3: Common sense of places not to bring your gun.
- 1:01:30Speaker 2: Somebody's calling him now, hijack Jones.
- 1:01:32Speaker 5: That's not Mike is very upset.
- 1:01:36Speaker 6: It's just I think it's the it's just how monumentally
- 1:01:38Speaker 6: stupid it is around it. And I and I and
- 1:01:41Speaker 6: I said Aaron Hernandez, because I that's a tragedy to me,
- 1:01:45Speaker 6: the Aaron Hernandez and the whole thing, and just for
- 1:01:47Speaker 6: me always the thought was, Aaron Hernandez had a touchdown
- 1:01:49Speaker 6: in the Super Bowl and he was at the very
- 1:01:51Speaker 6: best going to be sitting in jail the rest of
- 1:01:52Speaker 6: his life. And this is a kid who just finished
- 1:01:54Speaker 6: up a great mini camp and had a chance to
- 1:01:56Speaker 6: get his life really on track and to make a
- 1:01:58Speaker 6: bunch more money and have success in this league. And
- 1:02:01Speaker 6: one monumentally stupid, potentially decision might just flush that all
- 1:02:05Speaker 6: down the toilet for him and that and that's as
- 1:02:08Speaker 6: stupid as it is.
- 1:02:08Speaker 3: It's it's sad, It's all sad.
- 1:02:10Speaker 2: Uh, Travis says. Question I have on Jack Jones' situation
- 1:02:14Speaker 2: is how did the guns get to Massachusetts in the
- 1:02:16Speaker 2: first place? Maybe he made it through TSA with the
- 1:02:19Speaker 2: guns when he arrived for me camp. I'm not buying
- 1:02:22Speaker 2: that either. What airport did you get through?
- 1:02:25Speaker 5: Like, no, my guess as he drove, but I don't know.
- 1:02:30Speaker 5: Maybe he bottom, I don't Did he buy him here?
- 1:02:32Speaker 5: I don't know, kind of It's a lot of differentibilities.
- 1:02:38Speaker 2: Again open ears, but I can't imagine what the thing
- 1:02:42Speaker 2: would be to convince me you know, but we'll see,
- 1:02:45Speaker 2: we'll see. I really do want to hear what because
- 1:02:47Speaker 2: we need that boundary corner.
- 1:02:49Speaker 4: My gosh, it's important.
- 1:02:51Speaker 3: Nobody can throw it out on that guy.
- 1:02:53Speaker 2: Disrespectful, disrespectful, all right, some other subjects, Rick and Dallas.
- 1:02:58Speaker 2: I read a report recently that said Dalvin Cook and
- 1:03:01Speaker 2: de Hopkins want to play together. Could that potentially hinder
- 1:03:05Speaker 2: a Hopkins signing or would the Patriots ever consider signing both? Also,
- 1:03:09Speaker 2: was Jack Jones done with the Patriots when we talked
- 1:03:11Speaker 2: about that?
- 1:03:12Speaker 6: So that report, though, I just feel like that was
- 1:03:14Speaker 6: something like him being like, oh, it'd be so cool
- 1:03:16Speaker 6: if we could play together.
- 1:03:17Speaker 3: It wasn't like him being like we're a package.
- 1:03:20Speaker 2: That report.
- 1:03:21Speaker 4: Dalvin Cook had that report. Dalvin Cook did an interview
- 1:03:24Speaker 4: where he said that it would be like epic, I
- 1:03:28Speaker 4: think was the exact word, to play with DeAndre Hopkins.
- 1:03:30Speaker 2: But because you think it's.
- 1:03:31Speaker 3: Epic doesn't mean anyone wants to it's gonna.
- 1:03:33Speaker 4: Make It's not a situation where they are like you were,
- 1:03:36Speaker 4: like Mike was saying, package deal.
- 1:03:38Speaker 5: They've sat and talked and they said let's try to.
- 1:03:40Speaker 4: Pack especially this time of years. Can nobody can even afford.
- 1:03:45Speaker 2: To do that. So Alex and Raleigh, I think Hopkins
- 1:03:48Speaker 2: will be a Patriot based off the quote from Kraft
- 1:03:51Speaker 2: what he said in March on how money spending will
- 1:03:53Speaker 2: never be an issue and that Bill has always gotten
- 1:03:55Speaker 2: what he wanted. In addition to some rumors of the
- 1:03:58Speaker 2: visit being positive for both sides, this move just makes
- 1:04:01Speaker 2: sense for the team.
- 1:04:03Speaker 4: It makes sense for the Patriots.
- 1:04:04Speaker 5: But what if Bill doesn't want him at that price?
- 1:04:07Speaker 5: Like Bill always gets what he wants, But what if
- 1:04:09Speaker 5: Bill doesn't want fifteen million dollars DeAndre Hopkins.
- 1:04:12Speaker 2: See and you would say, well, if it's not Bill's money,
- 1:04:15Speaker 2: what did he should why should he care? But what
- 1:04:17Speaker 2: about this whole thing with jj smith Suster Juju right
- 1:04:21Speaker 2: him too? About you know, like he might get bent
- 1:04:24Speaker 2: out of shape if you bring in Hopkins and make
- 1:04:26Speaker 2: who and.
- 1:04:27Speaker 5: Who had that report?
- 1:04:28Speaker 4: I don't know Adam Schefter, Oh yeah, okay, doesn't just
- 1:04:31Speaker 4: make it up. Okay, he said that Juju would get happy.
- 1:04:35Speaker 5: He sort of talked about the salary structure within the
- 1:04:38Speaker 5: Patriots receiver room right now. Juju smith Schuster is at
- 1:04:41Speaker 5: the top of that list, So you'd have to be
- 1:04:43Speaker 5: conscious of that when you're and I'm like, are you
- 1:04:46Speaker 5: kidding me? Like, you can't give a receiver more than
- 1:04:50Speaker 5: Juju Smith Uster, who's DeAndre Hopkins, who's twice the player is.
- 1:04:54Speaker 4: Also getting Juju is getting like eleven or twelve million.
- 1:04:56Speaker 4: He's getting discounted money essentially for that position.
- 1:05:00Speaker 5: I think it's it's less than that, like aav and
- 1:05:03Speaker 5: I think that's probably what they go by. But yeah,
- 1:05:06Speaker 5: to you a point, it's not like he blew the
- 1:05:09Speaker 5: you know, the top off the wide receiver market. But
- 1:05:12Speaker 5: I just and Fred will tell you that that has
- 1:05:15Speaker 5: been the thing in the past. The salary structure within
- 1:05:18Speaker 5: the locker room was always made easy because of Brady,
- 1:05:22Speaker 5: but even like position wise, there'd be a hierarchy. Now,
- 1:05:27Speaker 5: I don't I don't really see how a new guy
- 1:05:28Speaker 5: who came in Juju Smith Schuster should set that mark.
- 1:05:33Speaker 5: Like I think we'd all agree that DeAndre Hopkins is
- 1:05:36Speaker 5: a better player.
- 1:05:37Speaker 4: I also just think it's it benefits Juju to have
- 1:05:40Speaker 4: somebody on the outside like DeAndre Hopkins because he's not
- 1:05:43Speaker 4: going to get all the attention from the defense and
- 1:05:45Speaker 4: they're not going to pack the middle of the field
- 1:05:47Speaker 4: and like all the areas that he wants to operate
- 1:05:49Speaker 4: on become easier to operate in if they have somebody
- 1:05:52Speaker 4: on the outside like DeAndre Hopkins. So I just I
- 1:05:55Speaker 4: don't know that those types of reports worry me because
- 1:05:58Speaker 4: that's like a big picture you on the roster, and
- 1:06:02Speaker 4: if that's the way that they're thinking, then that's troublesome.
- 1:06:04Speaker 6: I want to see Juju play and perform out there,
- 1:06:07Speaker 6: Like I There's been a lot with him, and yeah,
- 1:06:09Speaker 6: I want to see him.
- 1:06:10Speaker 3: Get him out there, do something.
- 1:06:12Speaker 2: George and Maryland writes in Miles Bryant needs to step
- 1:06:15Speaker 2: up and tell us the truth about the fact that
- 1:06:17Speaker 2: it's his bag and the guns. I think that'll work works.
- 1:06:20Speaker 3: For me, Oh stop it.
- 1:06:24Speaker 6: But I do think it's worth, you know, just throwing
- 1:06:26Speaker 6: out there. Kwandary Mosley, Sean Wade, Rodney Randall, Amere Speed,
- 1:06:30Speaker 6: Isaiah Boulden that the you know, the two rookies, so
- 1:06:32Speaker 6: you know five outside ish corners. I mean some of
- 1:06:36Speaker 6: them are played and can't play, but you know, there's
- 1:06:38Speaker 6: an opportunity I think for one of those five guys.
- 1:06:40Speaker 6: If one of those five guys could maybe have a
- 1:06:42Speaker 6: good camp and play and things kind of continue with Jack.
- 1:06:45Speaker 3: This way that maybe it's an opportunity for one of
- 1:06:47Speaker 3: those young guys.
- 1:06:47Speaker 5: Well, and the other part too is I think we
- 1:06:49Speaker 5: all sort of penciled in Jalen Mills as a safety,
- 1:06:52Speaker 5: like we're going to just move him back there, you know,
- 1:06:53Speaker 5: no questions asked that all of a sudden, they go
- 1:06:55Speaker 5: out there all spring and they got safeties all over
- 1:06:58Speaker 5: the place, you know, Pepper's Dog or mob who sometimes
- 1:07:03Speaker 5: you know, Phillips's. Maybe they don't need Jalen Mills to
- 1:07:06Speaker 5: just play safety. Yeah, you know, like it's not ideal.
- 1:07:10Speaker 5: I think the ideal and I think this is what
- 1:07:12Speaker 5: I said on Thursday, not any breaking news or anything,
- 1:07:16Speaker 5: but having Christian Gonzales and Jack Jones is your two
- 1:07:19Speaker 5: outside corners with Jonathan Jones in the slot, I think
- 1:07:22Speaker 5: we all three felt represented the best scenario. Well, yeah,
- 1:07:26Speaker 5: and now it's probably not gonna happen.
- 1:07:28Speaker 4: Now you probably have Christian Gonzalez on the boundary, Jonathan
- 1:07:31Speaker 4: Jones back to that like outside inside role, and then
- 1:07:34Speaker 4: Marcus Jones is your full time slot, so you still
- 1:07:37Speaker 4: have the two other Joneses. I think what you worry
- 1:07:39Speaker 4: about is in theory, Christian Gonzalez was an upgrade over
- 1:07:43Speaker 4: Jalen Mills, and then whichever Jones man the slot was
- 1:07:46Speaker 4: going to be an upgrade over Miles Bryant, and now
- 1:07:49Speaker 4: you lost a layer of that death. So that makes
- 1:07:52Speaker 4: you now, all of a sudden, Myles Bryan is right
- 1:07:54Speaker 4: back as a full time player in your secondary or
- 1:07:57Speaker 4: close to it. And I just felt like they were
- 1:08:00Speaker 4: upgrading two spots by the domino effect of Christian Gonzales,
- 1:08:04Speaker 4: and now all of a sudden, it doesn't look quite
- 1:08:06Speaker 4: as as great as it did a couple of weeks ago,
- 1:08:09Speaker 4: which is a bummer.
- 1:08:10Speaker 7: Is there perhaps anyone available right now or no?
- 1:08:14Speaker 5: I think Marcus Peterson is probably the best name on
- 1:08:17Speaker 5: that list, but he's another guy with some of these
- 1:08:20Speaker 5: I don't know exactly what the transgressions were, but he's
- 1:08:22Speaker 5: a guy who's had problems in the past and it's
- 1:08:26Speaker 5: been a pretty good player. I don't think he's the
- 1:08:29Speaker 5: type that would sign for the minimum even at this stage.
- 1:08:32Speaker 5: He's one of those guys he's got a track record.
- 1:08:34Speaker 5: I don't know, Like Dalvin Cook, people are saying still
- 1:08:36Speaker 5: was not planning on signing anywhere for less than five million.
- 1:08:40Speaker 5: You know, we'll see what happens when Yeah, you get
- 1:08:42Speaker 5: to the middle of July and no one signed him.
- 1:08:44Speaker 5: You know, maybe he changes his tune.
- 1:08:45Speaker 4: I don't think that they necessarily need a starting corner,
- 1:08:48Speaker 4: like I think that between Gonzales and the two jones
- 1:08:50Speaker 4: is that are currently not in hot water. I think
- 1:08:53Speaker 4: that they have three solid starting corners. I just think
- 1:08:57Speaker 4: that you'd lose the flexibility that we were talking about
- 1:09:00Speaker 4: all spring of Oh they can move, you know, they
- 1:09:02Speaker 4: can spin the dial, and they can move these guys
- 1:09:04Speaker 4: and these and they have that guy and this guy,
- 1:09:06Speaker 4: and you know, I think you lose some of that,
- 1:09:09Speaker 4: some of that depth and flexibility isn't quite as good
- 1:09:13Speaker 4: as it looked on paper last week. But in terms
- 1:09:16Speaker 4: of the starters, I think those are three solid starting corners.
- 1:09:20Speaker 4: I just I worry about you and you mentioned some
- 1:09:22Speaker 4: of the rookies, like you know, I think at Isaiah
- 1:09:25Speaker 4: Bolden or mere Speed now has a really good chance
- 1:09:27Speaker 4: to make the roster as the fifth corner, especially with
- 1:09:30Speaker 4: how much special teams they're projected to be involved in.
- 1:09:33Speaker 4: So you're you're looking at that and probably Miles Bryant
- 1:09:37Speaker 4: as being on the team now is like kind of
- 1:09:40Speaker 4: the fourth and fifth corner of.
- 1:09:41Speaker 3: The utility kind of guy.
- 1:09:42Speaker 6: And that's like, I don't have high hopes that any
- 1:09:46Speaker 6: of those five corners I listed are going to have it,
- 1:09:48Speaker 6: but I like at least trying to give you got
- 1:09:50Speaker 6: five guys.
- 1:09:51Speaker 5: But I mean, obviously, the key, the key to all
- 1:09:54Speaker 5: of this is Gonzales is what we all think he is,
- 1:09:56Speaker 5: and he's he's going to be your starting corner from
- 1:09:59Speaker 5: day one, and that slot like Fred's think slots everybody else.
- 1:10:02Speaker 5: But if you have Gonzales and you feel good about him,
- 1:10:05Speaker 5: Jonathan Jones, Marcus Jones, and Jalen Mills, I think that's
- 1:10:09Speaker 5: I mean, that's four corners that I think you're probably
- 1:10:11Speaker 5: okay with. Now. I worry a little bit about Marcus Jones.
- 1:10:15Speaker 5: I've talked about his size. I think it's really hard
- 1:10:17Speaker 5: to play that being that small. He's exceptionally small for
- 1:10:22Speaker 5: a corner. Now, dynamic is all hell Athletically, you know,
- 1:10:26Speaker 5: can do a lot of different things, and then you
- 1:10:27Speaker 5: get into all the safeties. You're talking ten or eleven
- 1:10:31Speaker 5: maybe defensive backs making the final cut. I mean there's
- 1:10:36Speaker 5: a lot of options there with you know, with that
- 1:10:39Speaker 5: group of four and then Miles Brian is your fifth
- 1:10:44Speaker 5: and He's another guy that can play, you know, front
- 1:10:46Speaker 5: and back, and then you have all the safeties that
- 1:10:49Speaker 5: we've already talked about. Where they're gonna put map WHU
- 1:10:51Speaker 5: where exactly does he? I think they have plenty of
- 1:10:54Speaker 5: options before you get to that group. Yeah, yeah, I think,
- 1:10:57Speaker 5: like Speed Bolden, one of those two is probably going
- 1:10:59Speaker 5: to be a better option special teams wise, but you know,
- 1:11:03Speaker 5: who knows, maybe they both make it.
- 1:11:05Speaker 7: I do like, how do you don't called the defense
- 1:11:07Speaker 7: like a bunch of unicorns like they really are in
- 1:11:09Speaker 7: the sense of just like you have so many versatile
- 1:11:11Speaker 7: pieces and then kind of with our injury prone room,
- 1:11:15Speaker 7: like the wide receivers that room down the stretch did
- 1:11:18Speaker 7: did tend to have a lot of issues between Jalen
- 1:11:21Speaker 7: Mills really didn't see him for a while for a
- 1:11:22Speaker 7: stretch good stretch there. It'll be interesting to see if
- 1:11:26Speaker 7: those guys that you listed, Mike, do you get a chance,
- 1:11:28Speaker 7: especially down the stretch, you know, if a god needs
- 1:11:30Speaker 7: rest week or two opportunity.
- 1:11:32Speaker 2: Richard New York City says big fan of the show.
- 1:11:36Speaker 2: He wants to know what we think about the rumor
- 1:11:39Speaker 2: of Aaron Rodgers nixing a trade to the Patriots. Did
- 1:11:43Speaker 2: you hear about this?
- 1:11:43Speaker 6: I did hear about it, and I was hesitant to
- 1:11:46Speaker 6: bring it up because I don't know if it really
- 1:11:47Speaker 6: came from a reliable source person.
- 1:11:50Speaker 2: It was a ict and felon that had this story.
- 1:11:53Speaker 5: Wow, Craig Carter, Oh, that guy, that's one of those things.
- 1:11:57Speaker 5: That's a fact. He's a convicted felon. Yes it is true,
- 1:12:00Speaker 5: but but but also a long time talk shows Yeah,
- 1:12:03Speaker 5: reliable source. I just I don't want to.
- 1:12:05Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 1:12:05Speaker 4: I don't know all the ins and outs. I don't
- 1:12:08Speaker 4: know if I buy it or not.
- 1:12:09Speaker 6: I mean, I said at the time, I always thought
- 1:12:12Speaker 6: that there might be a flirtation there, just because I
- 1:12:13Speaker 6: think Bill is always a little bit interested in, you know,
- 1:12:17Speaker 6: generational players like that.
- 1:12:18Speaker 3: I don't I think he's always at least willing to
- 1:12:20Speaker 3: kick the tires on it.
- 1:12:21Speaker 5: I just feel like it was probably a little bit
- 1:12:23Speaker 5: more to it than he absolutely refused to to the Patriots.
- 1:12:26Speaker 5: It was probably more financial, like maybe they reached out
- 1:12:29Speaker 5: and talked about some basic parameters and one of the
- 1:12:33Speaker 5: stipulations that Belichick had was the first thing we gotta
- 1:12:36Speaker 5: do is you gotta we got to redo your contract.
- 1:12:38Speaker 5: We can't give you sixty million. Yeah, right, totally.
- 1:12:42Speaker 4: Nope, it was that he absolutely refused to play for
- 1:12:45Speaker 4: the Patriots. Haha.
- 1:12:46Speaker 3: I want to go to the Jets and beat the Patriots.
- 1:12:49Speaker 5: My guess is there's probably a grain of truth to
- 1:12:54Speaker 5: what Carton said, but that is nearly the whole story.
- 1:12:57Speaker 5: That's my guest. I don't know. I don't have any information.
- 1:13:00Speaker 2: And why would he, of all people, have that story.
- 1:13:03Speaker 5: Well, he's pretty entrenched in New York right right.
- 1:13:12Speaker 4: I don't know what from what motivation would they have
- 1:13:14Speaker 4: to make the Patriots.
- 1:13:15Speaker 2: Look bad, Adam says, and he's in Ireland.
- 1:13:19Speaker 5: Uh.
- 1:13:19Speaker 2: First the Craft email to season ticket holders, he stated
- 1:13:23Speaker 2: he was unhappy, as we all were, with last year's
- 1:13:26Speaker 2: outcome and that there would be big changes coming this year.
- 1:13:29Speaker 2: I know it's early on, but do you all think
- 1:13:32Speaker 2: the changes were just adding Bill O'Brien? Is just adding
- 1:13:35Speaker 2: Bill O'Brien enough of a change for the offense and organization? Personally,
- 1:13:39Speaker 2: I feel we are miles away from the rest of
- 1:13:41Speaker 2: the league, especially on the offensive side of things. Every
- 1:13:44Speaker 2: other team with a young rookie quarterback has had added
- 1:13:48Speaker 2: major talent around them, especially from Alabama. So pretty much.
- 1:13:53Speaker 5: I do not think they're miles away.
- 1:13:56Speaker 2: Yeah, but if I don't know what he exactly the
- 1:13:59Speaker 2: letter said, did he say there we're going to be
- 1:14:01Speaker 2: big changes.
- 1:14:02Speaker 4: I mean, I think he's hiring a Bill O'Brien type
- 1:14:05Speaker 4: offensive coordinator is a pretty substantial move. I mean, it's
- 1:14:10Speaker 4: maybe not the move that the only mover, the move
- 1:14:13Speaker 4: that everybody wanted or whatever, But when you hired an
- 1:14:16Speaker 4: entire new coordinator and a new offensive line coach and
- 1:14:20Speaker 4: really overhauled the outside of the ball from a coaching standpoint,
- 1:14:23Speaker 4: it's that's pretty substantial change.
- 1:14:25Speaker 2: Yeah. I know, Hopkins has been the highlight of talk
- 1:14:29Speaker 2: for US Patriots fans the past few months, but Hopkins
- 1:14:31Speaker 2: can't be the only answer, right if he signs elsewhere,
- 1:14:34Speaker 2: we need to pursue another trusted veteran at the position.
- 1:14:38Speaker 2: We haven't done enough in my eyes. I'm not asking
- 1:14:40Speaker 2: for an elite wide receiver such as Justin Jefferson, but
- 1:14:43Speaker 2: we have to have threats, all right, put a name
- 1:14:47Speaker 2: to the claim. Who is it?
- 1:14:49Speaker 5: Right, Like, if it's not Hopkins, then who is that
- 1:14:52Speaker 5: kind of receiver that's clearly establishing himself as the top
- 1:14:57Speaker 5: at the top of the list, you're adding another Parker
- 1:15:00Speaker 5: Born at best, Smith Schuster at best at this point,
- 1:15:04Speaker 5: right right.
- 1:15:05Speaker 2: Then you might as well stick with what you got.
- 1:15:08Speaker 3: That's why you're hoping Thornton is something interesting.
- 1:15:10Speaker 2: Yeah, you know, uh eight five five pasts five hundred
- 1:15:13Speaker 2: is the a sticket headline. Let's go to Willem and Fellm.
- 1:15:16Speaker 2: What's up? William?
- 1:15:17Speaker 17: Hey Fred? How you doing?
- 1:15:18Speaker 5: All right?
- 1:15:20Speaker 17: All right, let me just get right to it. I'm
- 1:15:22Speaker 17: gonna say like this the Patriots, there's like an open
- 1:15:25Speaker 17: book basically, you.
- 1:15:26Speaker 7: Know what I mean.
- 1:15:27Speaker 18: It is.
- 1:15:30Speaker 17: You got Trent Brown overweight, your your receivers are banged up. Basically,
- 1:15:35Speaker 17: you got you got questions at what tackle? Basically you
- 1:15:39Speaker 17: need another running back, okay, and not to mention, you
- 1:15:42Speaker 17: got one of your corns want to be Jim with.
- 1:15:44Speaker 18: So I'm like, what are you?
- 1:15:46Speaker 17: What are we doing? You know what I mean? You
- 1:15:47Speaker 17: know what I mean? And then like I blame Bill
- 1:15:50Speaker 17: a little bit for that because I'm like this, you
- 1:15:52Speaker 17: drafted you that he has some off the field issues.
- 1:15:55Speaker 17: So you know, but like Evans said, though, we're gonna
- 1:15:58Speaker 17: sit back. You know, I'm not going uch the main
- 1:16:00Speaker 17: thing I did at this point though, But it just
- 1:16:02Speaker 17: don't look good for you period.
- 1:16:04Speaker 5: You know what I mean, it wasn't the good last week.
- 1:16:06Speaker 17: Anybody to spread stupid dumb I don't know. That's just
- 1:16:11Speaker 17: really dumb and it's not funny anything.
- 1:16:13Speaker 18: It's just really dumb.
- 1:16:14Speaker 17: You throwing your whole length away, you know.
- 1:16:16Speaker 7: What I mean?
- 1:16:17Speaker 5: Yeah, William, I'm going to separate the Jack Jones part
- 1:16:19Speaker 5: because I think we talked about that. But just on
- 1:16:22Speaker 5: the field, like the last week wasn't great. I mean,
- 1:16:24Speaker 5: Trent Brown finally shows up, he doesn't look like he's
- 1:16:26Speaker 5: anywhere near ready to participate in practice. So you don't
- 1:16:29Speaker 5: know exactly what the future is at left tackle, you know,
- 1:16:32Speaker 5: the near you know, the current future. I don't mean
- 1:16:34Speaker 5: like four years down the road. I mean in you know,
- 1:16:37Speaker 5: week one against Philadelphia, the wide receivers were banged up,
- 1:16:41Speaker 5: So what you had out there, you know, wasn't It
- 1:16:45Speaker 5: wasn't nearly enough, except you know, I I suppose you
- 1:16:50Speaker 5: could look at it on the positive side and listen
- 1:16:52Speaker 5: to like Jabrill Peppers and Matthew Judon and the way
- 1:16:55Speaker 5: they gushed about the defense and how they felt like
- 1:16:58Speaker 5: they should be ahead of the offense because of their
- 1:17:00Speaker 5: lack of turnover. They only lost one guy, which, according
- 1:17:03Speaker 5: to Mike Reese is the best in football, the only
- 1:17:07Speaker 5: only only team to only lose one defensive starter from
- 1:17:10Speaker 5: last year. So you should be ahead of the game defensively,
- 1:17:14Speaker 5: and they were, so you could look at it from
- 1:17:15Speaker 5: a positive side that way. But yeah, I mean what
- 1:17:18Speaker 5: William's talking about. They have they have some issues that
- 1:17:22Speaker 5: we kind of wondered about heading into the spring camps
- 1:17:24Speaker 5: and didn't get anything to alleviate those fears.
- 1:17:28Speaker 4: It's just a little the whole, the whole direction of
- 1:17:32Speaker 4: the team is starting to get a little bit bumpy. Though,
- 1:17:34Speaker 4: like to I don't think it's necessarily the organization's fault
- 1:17:38Speaker 4: that Jack Jones brought two guns to the Logan Airport.
- 1:17:41Speaker 4: I'm not saying that. But you talk about, you know,
- 1:17:43Speaker 4: losing the OTAs you talk about even the situation, but
- 1:17:47Speaker 4: with between Mac and Bill or whatever's going on there,
- 1:17:50Speaker 4: that just doesn't really from the eye test, just doesn't
- 1:17:54Speaker 4: seem one hundred per right that between those two guys,
- 1:17:58Speaker 4: Trent Brown's situation, and you do wonder about sort of
- 1:18:03Speaker 4: the the culture and like the overall direction of the
- 1:18:06Speaker 4: locker room and of the team in general. That does
- 1:18:09Speaker 4: doesn't really seem like guys are necessarily pulling the rope
- 1:18:12Speaker 4: in the same direction. I'm not saying that they're not
- 1:18:14Speaker 4: pulling the rope, it's just like not pulling it all
- 1:18:17Speaker 4: in the same direction together in some respects. And it
- 1:18:21Speaker 4: does have it's just some concerns.
- 1:18:22Speaker 17: It just seems like, I'm sorry, I just wanted to
- 1:18:25Speaker 17: get one more thing in because I know as some
- 1:18:27Speaker 17: point break on that there let me go.
- 1:18:28Speaker 18: So I just might say real fast that.
- 1:18:31Speaker 17: You know, all your problems are all majority basically all
- 1:18:34Speaker 17: your problems are offense other than the corner situation, you
- 1:18:36Speaker 17: know what I mean. But you saying look at a
- 1:18:39Speaker 17: positive point, well, but look at the negative. It is
- 1:18:42Speaker 17: bad on offense, Like Bill just you didn't do a
- 1:18:44Speaker 17: good job on office.
- 1:18:45Speaker 18: You just didn't.
- 1:18:46Speaker 17: I don't care how y'all summed that up. He did not.
- 1:18:48Speaker 17: It is the worst offseason, and then stuff that happened
- 1:18:51Speaker 17: from last season is carrying on into this season, like,
- 1:18:54Speaker 17: you know, it's a mess again. Why can't we just
- 1:18:58Speaker 17: move forward without any problems? Why is the always been
- 1:19:01Speaker 17: the news the past couple of days now and now
- 1:19:03Speaker 17: this too with Jack Jonesy's like what's next. You know
- 1:19:06Speaker 17: what I'm saying. You need some good you need some
- 1:19:08Speaker 17: good news, you know, bad news with the team.
- 1:19:10Speaker 5: No, I agree, it was bad. It was it bad
- 1:19:13Speaker 5: last week in the spring. There's no other way to
- 1:19:15Speaker 5: put it.
- 1:19:15Speaker 2: Yeah, right, all right, thanks William uh Anthony and Delaware
- 1:19:20Speaker 2: rights in. He says, uh, well, we were talking about
- 1:19:24Speaker 2: clutch players last year. David Ortiz. He says, my favorite
- 1:19:29Speaker 2: thing about David Ortiz hitting that Grand Slam was that
- 1:19:32Speaker 2: he hit ninety one for the series. He had two hits.
- 1:19:36Speaker 2: Then he went absolutely bonkers on the Cardinals, hitting six
- 1:19:39Speaker 2: eighty eight in almost a two thousand ops.
- 1:19:43Speaker 4: That's not how I remember it.
- 1:19:46Speaker 2: He says, Jack Jones better call Sault, Well, he got better.
- 1:19:49Speaker 2: I think he got better than Saul. He got this
- 1:19:52Speaker 2: lady Rose Rose, she's ready to.
- 1:19:54Speaker 3: Get in there. Okay, what do we got we gotta
- 1:19:56Speaker 3: find is we gotta find the fall guy for him?
- 1:19:58Speaker 7: Though, do we ever do we get any more information
- 1:20:03Speaker 7: on what is happening with Lawrence guy? I know we
- 1:20:04Speaker 7: were talking about Trent Brown, but Lawrence guys.
- 1:20:06Speaker 3: That's another one question mark question, that's another one.
- 1:20:09Speaker 2: I don't know what what do you do on that?
- 1:20:10Speaker 6: One, Like it's an interesting thing where so the employee's
- 1:20:13Speaker 6: not showing off for work now he's unhappy with his
- 1:20:15Speaker 6: with his you know contract, what do you like?
- 1:20:17Speaker 2: Do you all right?
- 1:20:19Speaker 6: Well, can you come to trany camp. We're gonna start
- 1:20:21Speaker 6: finding them or do they say do they try to.
- 1:20:24Speaker 3: Make amends with it?
- 1:20:25Speaker 6: Yeah, it's just an interesting player where I can understand, like,
- 1:20:28Speaker 6: you know what Seymour would Richard Seymour hang out, would
- 1:20:31Speaker 6: hold out, you know, mid mid two thousands, because he's
- 1:20:33Speaker 6: one of the best defensive linemen in the game.
- 1:20:36Speaker 3: They're like, guy, it's a weird time, Like you're holding
- 1:20:38Speaker 3: out now.
- 1:20:39Speaker 6: You signed like a four year low money deal two
- 1:20:41Speaker 6: seasons ago and you didn't think that other guys were
- 1:20:44Speaker 6: gonna come in and get paid more than you during
- 1:20:46Speaker 6: that time.
- 1:20:46Speaker 3: So that's another thing to watch.
- 1:20:48Speaker 6: And I think their depth along the defensive line is
- 1:20:51Speaker 6: pretty is pretty tenuous, you know, be kind Godshaw bar
- 1:20:55Speaker 6: Moore Wise, it's you know.
- 1:20:56Speaker 3: A quality farms Sam Roberts.
- 1:20:59Speaker 2: I mean just this to I, like, it's not there's
- 1:21:01Speaker 2: not a lot there, uh, Cody and Indiana just want
- 1:21:04Speaker 2: to say that Juju may be my new all time
- 1:21:07Speaker 2: favorite signing. Solely because we get to hear all the
- 1:21:09Speaker 2: various ways Fred will butcher his name. Uh, he will
- 1:21:13Speaker 2: hear it said a thousand times, and he will still
- 1:21:16Speaker 2: get it wrong, both intentionally and unintentionally. Juju Schuster Smith,
- 1:21:21Speaker 2: Juju Shuster Shuster, Juju Smith. The possibilities are endless.
- 1:21:26Speaker 4: You call him, I mean, JJ is fine what it
- 1:21:29Speaker 4: is to people call I've never heard that. I've heard
- 1:21:32Speaker 4: it before.
- 1:21:32Speaker 3: He's he's one of those annoying football writer names that
- 1:21:34Speaker 3: you're like, here we go, s M I T.
- 1:21:39Speaker 5: H you well, even the Juju is kind of annoying.
- 1:21:42Speaker 3: The capital Yeah, you probably got some al timer's.
- 1:21:45Speaker 5: Paul is an old time writer.
- 1:21:49Speaker 2: Remember that one was well, even.
- 1:21:52Speaker 5: Even that was bad.
- 1:21:53Speaker 2: But like T. J.
- 1:21:54Speaker 5: Huschman Zada was always Yeah, that was.
- 1:21:55Speaker 2: A tough but Garoppolo, which letter is double?
- 1:21:58Speaker 6: I have a device for that. I always he has
- 1:22:01Speaker 6: two P two peak. Yeah, that's how I always remember it.
- 1:22:05Speaker 6: He has to peek goes on.
- 1:22:09Speaker 2: There's two.
- 1:22:12Speaker 7: I do like, did you see that report for like,
- 1:22:15Speaker 7: if he doesn't pass his physical he will be able
- 1:22:18Speaker 7: to play, would you see that? Jimmy g Yeah, could
- 1:22:22Speaker 7: you imagine?
- 1:22:22Speaker 3: I think he'll be fine and then I'll get injured again.
- 1:22:25Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean I'm not saying he's gonna say healthy
- 1:22:27Speaker 5: the whole year, but no, yeah I would, matter of fact,
- 1:22:29Speaker 5: I mean probably no chance.
- 1:22:31Speaker 2: Like I don't.
- 1:22:32Speaker 3: I try not to kill guys on injuries like I
- 1:22:33Speaker 3: think injury, I don't. Yeah, it's inevitable.
- 1:22:39Speaker 5: He's one of those guys.
- 1:22:40Speaker 3: Yes, he gets hurt a lot now, but next time
- 1:22:43Speaker 3: you're trying to try Garoppolo.
- 1:22:46Speaker 2: But I really do think he spells his name incorrectly
- 1:22:49Speaker 2: because Polo is Italian for chicken, right, and it's.
- 1:22:57Speaker 4: Why does it have to be chicken? But why does
- 1:23:02Speaker 4: it have to be that He's it's supposed to be cho.
- 1:23:07Speaker 3: Marco Polo, Polo, it's chicken.
- 1:23:09Speaker 5: That's too in Italian. I know what it means. I
- 1:23:14Speaker 5: just don't understand why his name has to Italian like galloping,
- 1:23:18Speaker 5: galloping chicken. I don't think it's polo. It's not polo.
- 1:23:27Speaker 4: That's the game with the horse, right or in water
- 1:23:31Speaker 4: water when they make those pool wearing polo, yeah, right.
- 1:23:36Speaker 3: Very big in California, the water Polo.
- 1:23:38Speaker 6: A lot of adonicis I heard nikola people with giants shoulders.
- 1:23:43Speaker 4: And you know, speedos and well, it requires giant shoulders.
- 1:23:47Speaker 5: A lot of swimming.
- 1:23:48Speaker 3: Yeah, it's my understanding.
- 1:23:49Speaker 2: Very hard. It's a grueling sport. It really is. Looks.
- 1:23:53Speaker 2: I mean, you're treading water for all that time, and
- 1:23:55Speaker 2: there's a lot of stuff going on under the water
- 1:24:00Speaker 2: on that ye pull down? Hey what a not punching
- 1:24:09Speaker 2: Alex and Englewood, New Jersey. The technical issues today are
- 1:24:11Speaker 2: fairly representative of the trials and circulations the team is facing.
- 1:24:15Speaker 2: Sounds like the Patriots are crumbling down. In other news,
- 1:24:19Speaker 2: it's been great shows so far and had some very
- 1:24:21Speaker 2: good insight in the beginning. Keep up the great work
- 1:24:24Speaker 2: and keeping us informed.
- 1:24:26Speaker 4: Just in the beginning. Since then, it's been off thehere else.
- 1:24:29Speaker 2: Uh somebody making fun of Andy? Should we read that?
- 1:24:33Speaker 5: Absolutely not really.
- 1:24:34Speaker 2: But it's been a while. But I had to write
- 1:24:36Speaker 2: in this is Jim. I had a podcast pop up
- 1:24:40Speaker 2: as a suggestion in my feed, the Six Rings podcast.
- 1:24:44Speaker 2: I saw Andy's name, and I was hoping for a
- 1:24:46Speaker 2: good show. Boy was I wrong? It was painful. Andy
- 1:24:50Speaker 2: should be shredding that guy. But I didn't hear anything
- 1:24:52Speaker 2: like that. I couldn't make it through an episode.
- 1:24:55Speaker 5: I know who it was.
- 1:24:56Speaker 2: My suggestion changed the nih to big head on the board,
- 1:25:00Speaker 2: else is misleading. I'm out as Jim and Pittsburgh.
- 1:25:02Speaker 3: Is any is any gonna let him have it a
- 1:25:04Speaker 3: little better?
- 1:25:07Speaker 5: I'll talk off here.
- 1:25:08Speaker 4: I think I know who the who the bore is? Situation?
- 1:25:13Speaker 2: Uh fright? Since you continue to call Juju Smith Schuster
- 1:25:16Speaker 2: j J. Schuster and this show is famous for making
- 1:25:19Speaker 2: names more fun, Jimmy White, Nate Hackett, et cetera. I
- 1:25:22Speaker 2: thought you should know that he was born named John Smith?
- 1:25:26Speaker 2: Can we call him that from now on? Is that true?
- 1:25:28Speaker 4: Like poconnas?
- 1:25:30Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 1:25:30Speaker 2: Was was he really born John Smith?
- 1:25:33Speaker 3: That's fun, that's worth a google. Yeah, let's see we
- 1:25:39Speaker 3: could do a content with the old kicker John Smith. Yeah,
- 1:25:43Speaker 3: you know, do a video which is the real John Smith.
- 1:25:46Speaker 2: Josh in Turner's Falls, Mass was wondering what you thought
- 1:25:50Speaker 2: about Michael Lombardi saying he views Hopkins as a slot receiver,
- 1:25:54Speaker 2: being a reason he thinks Tennessee might be a better fit.
- 1:25:57Speaker 2: Everyone in New England media pushes the outside receiver aspect.
- 1:26:02Speaker 2: I'm hopefully signed, but I'm getting pretty sick of the
- 1:26:04Speaker 2: clickbait stuff from Judon and everyone else.
- 1:26:07Speaker 5: I don't love him as a pure slot option. I'm
- 1:26:10Speaker 5: not saying he can't perform between the hashes and all
- 1:26:13Speaker 5: that stuff, but I feel.
- 1:26:15Speaker 4: Like that's always the default of, Oh, he can't run anymore,
- 1:26:18Speaker 4: so we're just going to move him inside, and that's
- 1:26:20Speaker 4: going to.
- 1:26:20Speaker 5: Mask the I've never thought of him as being like
- 1:26:23Speaker 5: overly quick, which I think is a little bit more
- 1:26:25Speaker 5: of a skill set that lends itself to me.
- 1:26:27Speaker 4: I could see him being a power slot and potentially,
- 1:26:31Speaker 4: but I don't think that that. I don't think it
- 1:26:33Speaker 4: would matter if they played him inside or outside.
- 1:26:35Speaker 6: But they still move him around, right, I mean, it's
- 1:26:37Speaker 6: not like they're just going to slowly keep him in
- 1:26:39Speaker 6: that slot row.
- 1:26:39Speaker 5: So if you wanted to use him as a slot receiver,
- 1:26:42Speaker 5: you know, we've talked about who goes. If someone has
- 1:26:44Speaker 5: to go, you know, it'd be you know, maybe it'd
- 1:26:47Speaker 5: be better if Kendrick Bourne went than Parker, because everybody
- 1:26:50Speaker 5: just says, well, he's the same as I feel like
- 1:26:51Speaker 5: I say it all the time. Yeah, he's more of
- 1:26:53Speaker 5: a replication of Parker than a slot guy. But maybe
- 1:26:57Speaker 5: if you wanted to play him in the slot, maybe
- 1:27:00Speaker 5: maybe Born goes.
- 1:27:01Speaker 3: Parker remains that guy that we all know that they
- 1:27:04Speaker 3: like a lot more than we can see.
- 1:27:07Speaker 7: That's because he's like so quiet and doesn't talk and
- 1:27:10Speaker 7: doesn't he's.
- 1:27:12Speaker 6: It's I mean, what's your thought on this whole like
- 1:27:14Speaker 6: contested receiver thing, Like like that's just like it's such
- 1:27:17Speaker 6: a skill set people talk about when guys come out,
- 1:27:19Speaker 6: They're like, Oh, it's just so hard on contested catches,
- 1:27:21Speaker 6: And I'm just I just don't care for them, Like
- 1:27:24Speaker 6: I just don't feel like, like, why are we putting
- 1:27:25Speaker 6: this as an element in our offense that we need
- 1:27:27Speaker 6: to feature? It seems like every now and then you
- 1:27:29Speaker 6: just got to take a shot to a guy who's covered,
- 1:27:31Speaker 6: and you don't need to like target guys who he
- 1:27:34Speaker 6: can't run.
- 1:27:34Speaker 2: But you know if you put a jump ball up
- 1:27:36Speaker 2: to him, he's really tough on those.
- 1:27:37Speaker 3: Like it just doesn't make sense.
- 1:27:38Speaker 4: Yeah, I think there's a difference between like a true
- 1:27:42Speaker 4: jump ball or like a fifty to fifty ball where
- 1:27:45Speaker 4: you just lob it up and hope your guy comes
- 1:27:46Speaker 4: down with it, and guys that are good at catching
- 1:27:48Speaker 4: the ball in traffic and like I, in order to
- 1:27:51Speaker 4: play in the NFL at a high level, you need
- 1:27:53Speaker 4: to be able to finish through contact and catching traffic,
- 1:27:55Speaker 4: Like you're not going to be opened by five yards
- 1:27:57Speaker 4: all the time like you are in college. But I
- 1:28:00Speaker 4: think guys that solely live on the jump ball aspect
- 1:28:04Speaker 4: of like let's just lob one up there and hope
- 1:28:05Speaker 4: that he goes up and gets it, those guys tend
- 1:28:08Speaker 4: to be extremely limited in terms of production. But you know,
- 1:28:12Speaker 4: Jacoby was was great at catching the ball in traffic,
- 1:28:15Speaker 4: you know, catching it between the numbers with a lot
- 1:28:17Speaker 4: of guys around him, and that skill can be really helpful.
- 1:28:21Speaker 4: And some people call that contested, but I know what
- 1:28:23Speaker 4: you're talking about is more like a fifty to fifty ball.
- 1:28:26Speaker 5: He's right and just and that's all we like Mile Harry.
- 1:28:29Speaker 5: Every play he made as a Patriot was a contested catch.
- 1:28:32Speaker 4: Yeah, And you can only throw so many of those,
- 1:28:34Speaker 4: Like even the guys that like lead the league and
- 1:28:36Speaker 4: those like kind of fifty to fifty balls are probably
- 1:28:38Speaker 4: targeted twenty twenty five times a year on that type
- 1:28:42Speaker 4: of throw, So you're you're looking at a very limited.
- 1:28:46Speaker 6: I mean, how Parker, I mean, I could probably list
- 1:28:48Speaker 6: off at least seven or eight last year that like
- 1:28:50Speaker 6: that was you know, kind of just what they did
- 1:28:52Speaker 6: with them, especially like the first day of training camp
- 1:28:54Speaker 6: that was when they're in the red zone.
- 1:28:55Speaker 5: It's just hard to live that way solely. Now, if
- 1:28:58Speaker 5: you can get open like like Evan said, Myers got
- 1:29:01Speaker 5: opened fifty other times, I feel like, you know, make
- 1:29:05Speaker 5: routine catches, but he also could make contested once.
- 1:29:09Speaker 4: Yeah, I think you have to have if you're not
- 1:29:12Speaker 4: going to be a burner like a Tae kwon type,
- 1:29:14Speaker 4: you have to have some sort of vertical element of
- 1:29:16Speaker 4: your game to play on the outside to set up
- 1:29:18Speaker 4: everything else. But the question is is can you separate
- 1:29:21Speaker 4: on a slant? Can you get open on a dig route?
- 1:29:23Speaker 4: Can you get open on a comeback?
- 1:29:24Speaker 7: Like?
- 1:29:25Speaker 4: That's like how that's the difference between like Devonte Parker
- 1:29:27Speaker 4: and like Prime des Bryant, right, like because des Bryant
- 1:29:30Speaker 4: would posterize guys all the time, but he had that
- 1:29:32Speaker 4: ability to run routes at the first and second level
- 1:29:34Speaker 4: as well to keep you honest and set up the
- 1:29:37Speaker 4: jump ball down the field.
- 1:29:38Speaker 3: So I get it. That's my answer. Their budget field
- 1:29:40Speaker 3: stretchers is what it is.
- 1:29:41Speaker 5: They're guys who.
- 1:29:42Speaker 6: Can't run, but they have some size, so they'll give
- 1:29:44Speaker 6: you some kind of presence downfield.
- 1:29:46Speaker 2: You're not totally.
- 1:29:47Speaker 3: Devoid of it.
- 1:29:48Speaker 18: Got it?
- 1:29:48Speaker 2: Okay? Christian in North Carolina says reports are showing d
- 1:29:52Speaker 2: hops in New York. I can see him going to
- 1:29:55Speaker 2: the Giants easily. We all know Bill thinks wide receivers
- 1:29:57Speaker 2: are irrelevant and that this core can get a on.
- 1:30:00Speaker 2: My prediction is this offense will be bottom of the
- 1:30:02Speaker 2: league this year. Only so much Billy Oh can help.
- 1:30:06Speaker 2: Matt can't do it without weapons, and it will be
- 1:30:09Speaker 2: proven this season. Can't wait for a new gm oh boy.
- 1:30:12Speaker 3: So I mean, is that he's true? Have you heard
- 1:30:15Speaker 3: that he's in New York visiting the Giants?
- 1:30:17Speaker 4: I mean he might have posted it on like an
- 1:30:18Speaker 4: Instagram that he's in the city of New York. I
- 1:30:21Speaker 4: don't know.
- 1:30:22Speaker 6: But again, it's the same kind as team as New
- 1:30:23Speaker 6: England and the Titans there, you know, the B level
- 1:30:26Speaker 6: teams that are trying to get into the contender status.
- 1:30:29Speaker 6: So you know, until it's a real contender, I don't
- 1:30:32Speaker 6: then I don't think we really have a sense.
- 1:30:33Speaker 3: Of where his head's at.
- 1:30:34Speaker 2: You know that, like, yeah, show me visits.
- 1:30:36Speaker 6: Kansas City and doesn't get signed a deal, then all right,
- 1:30:38Speaker 6: then maybe we know a little bit more about what
- 1:30:40Speaker 6: what he wants.
- 1:30:41Speaker 4: Another layer to the Jack Jones situation. So apparently the
- 1:30:46Speaker 4: Duffel bag that had the guns in it had a
- 1:30:49Speaker 4: tag on it that was the tag that every Patriots
- 1:30:53Speaker 4: player got when they visited the UFC headquarters last summer
- 1:30:58Speaker 4: out in Vegas. So he to personalized tag on the
- 1:31:02Speaker 4: bag that apparently was something that the whole team got
- 1:31:05Speaker 4: at that visit.
- 1:31:06Speaker 3: So that seems legally a problem that something with his
- 1:31:09Speaker 3: name on it was on the bag. Is that what
- 1:31:10Speaker 3: you're getting?
- 1:31:11Speaker 4: Yeah, that the bag was personalized with his name on it.
- 1:31:15Speaker 7: What I have that tag?
- 1:31:16Speaker 3: Like, be careful with what you put it on.
- 1:31:19Speaker 7: Be careful your cousin doesn't try to I have that
- 1:31:22Speaker 7: tag if I gave my mom my book bag, like you.
- 1:31:25Speaker 5: Just rolling the dice.
- 1:31:27Speaker 4: I that's fine. Well that's just I'm telling you. That's
- 1:31:31Speaker 4: what the police report is using to say, just solidify
- 1:31:35Speaker 4: the fact that it was Jack Jones's bag, was the
- 1:31:38Speaker 4: fact that it had a tag on it that said
- 1:31:41Speaker 4: Jack Jones's name on it.
- 1:31:44Speaker 5: That's not mine. Well, it's not my bag, I think,
- 1:31:47Speaker 5: you know.
- 1:31:48Speaker 2: According to the lawyer, she didn't say it was in
- 1:31:50Speaker 2: his bag. She said he had no intention of guns.
- 1:31:54Speaker 2: So the question is, you know, did he pick up
- 1:31:57Speaker 2: the wrong bag or did somebody put the guns in
- 1:31:59Speaker 2: there other than him? You know, that's the only two
- 1:32:03Speaker 2: possible explanations.
- 1:32:04Speaker 7: Not stupid enough to like leave his bag somewhere and
- 1:32:06Speaker 7: go to the bathroom.
- 1:32:07Speaker 3: I mean hopefully, well I do with these guns.
- 1:32:11Speaker 2: But honestly, I mean, when when you're at the airport
- 1:32:14Speaker 2: for a long time, can you honestly say that for
- 1:32:17Speaker 2: every minute you have your eyes on your stuff?
- 1:32:20Speaker 7: But that's not where if I know, if you got back,
- 1:32:23Speaker 7: I have that I have definitely gotten from my seat
- 1:32:27Speaker 7: and like walk down to throw something away, like I haven't, right, I.
- 1:32:30Speaker 5: Can tell you I've never done that since since nine
- 1:32:32Speaker 5: to eleven. Yeah, yeah, I like, I don't in charge
- 1:32:36Speaker 5: of my my stuff, which someone in my family could
- 1:32:39Speaker 5: set me up. I get it.
- 1:32:40Speaker 2: No, But if I'm I'm going to extend, I'll ask someone, hey,
- 1:32:42Speaker 2: keep an eye on. But if I'm just not not
- 1:32:45Speaker 2: a stranger.
- 1:32:46Speaker 5: Oh okay, not a stranger. Okay, I thought you think.
- 1:32:49Speaker 2: A stranger somebody somebody I'm with. But if I'm like
- 1:32:53Speaker 2: I've gone and like walk maybe twenty feet to throw
- 1:32:56Speaker 2: something out and then turned around and come back.
- 1:32:57Speaker 3: Yeah, I'll do that. But even like a bathroom trip.
- 1:33:00Speaker 2: No, I don't go to the bathroom. I take him
- 1:33:01Speaker 2: with take it with me.
- 1:33:02Speaker 3: Yeah, hang it up.
- 1:33:04Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't know.
- 1:33:07Speaker 5: It's on the shoulder, bro. You know, multi task.
- 1:33:10Speaker 7: They should definitely make airport bathrooms bigger, because, like you're,
- 1:33:13Speaker 7: it's so hard to fit you and your luggage install
- 1:33:16Speaker 7: it's crazy.
- 1:33:17Speaker 3: Hang things up. You don't want touch the floor there, right? Yeah, turn,
- 1:33:23Speaker 3: I still blame you for him.
- 1:33:28Speaker 2: Let's see. I don't know why Spied wants to talk
- 1:33:31Speaker 2: about the Succession final finale. I'll talk about that, but
- 1:33:36Speaker 2: I haven't seen it. I never will.
- 1:33:39Speaker 5: But oh, okay, hasn't seen the first episode.
- 1:33:43Speaker 2: I just can't. I just yeah, it's too much good.
- 1:33:47Speaker 2: Everyone liked it was a finale.
- 1:33:49Speaker 5: I didn't love love the finale, but it was good.
- 1:33:52Speaker 2: It was good time well spend.
- 1:33:54Speaker 3: Yeah, I think Paul, did you say the second season
- 1:33:56Speaker 3: was down a little bit? I think you laid it
- 1:33:59Speaker 3: out to me that way. Maybe in one of the
- 1:34:00Speaker 3: seasons was a little bit boring, but.
- 1:34:03Speaker 5: Only four seasons. Watch. I watched the night Agent on
- 1:34:09Speaker 5: was it what day? Did it rain?
- 1:34:10Speaker 6: All?
- 1:34:10Speaker 5: Day Saturday, Saturday, I watched most of that easy really
- 1:34:15Speaker 5: easy watch ten episodes, bang done series?
- 1:34:18Speaker 3: What was it?
- 1:34:19Speaker 5: The Night Agent?
- 1:34:20Speaker 2: The Night Agent?
- 1:34:21Speaker 5: Yeah, I haven't heard it. I think it was Netflix.
- 1:34:23Speaker 2: I binged The Marvelous Missus Maisel. You love that great?
- 1:34:27Speaker 2: It ended? The series ended? It was it was really good.
- 1:34:30Speaker 2: You had already seen the yes, oh yeah, it was excellent.
- 1:34:33Speaker 3: Yeah, she's really good.
- 1:34:34Speaker 5: After how many seasons of that? Is there four? I think, oh,
- 1:34:38Speaker 5: so that's an easy watch too. You can get through that.
- 1:34:41Speaker 2: Four or five maybe, but it was, it was excellent.
- 1:34:44Speaker 5: I've never seen it.
- 1:34:45Speaker 7: Yeah, I have a better question. Would you guys do
- 1:34:48Speaker 7: for Father's Day?
- 1:34:49Speaker 3: Nothing? I just wanted ice cream?
- 1:34:54Speaker 5: That was fine, uneventful, eventful.
- 1:34:57Speaker 3: Watched some baseball in the morning.
- 1:34:59Speaker 7: Was it.
- 1:35:01Speaker 4: Wow, you're not gonna ask me what I did for
- 1:35:03Speaker 4: Father's Day? You're what are you like? A dog?
- 1:35:05Speaker 2: Parent? Dog dad?
- 1:35:08Speaker 5: Hashtag dogs and went for a walk.
- 1:35:10Speaker 2: Actually, we were at the Red Sox game with the dog.
- 1:35:14Speaker 4: We were supposed to be at the Red Sox game
- 1:35:16Speaker 4: on Saturday night and it got it got rained out,
- 1:35:19Speaker 4: so we went on Sunday. Really messed up our entire
- 1:35:22Speaker 4: Father's Day plan with my actual father who was a
- 1:35:25Speaker 4: real father, not a dog dad.
- 1:35:27Speaker 5: And so yeah, I did get a nice call from
- 1:35:30Speaker 5: Bermuda for my son.
- 1:35:31Speaker 7: That was.
- 1:35:34Speaker 5: Collect three shades of green except the charge water bottles
- 1:35:36Speaker 5: next to them, and that's a hydrate bro.
- 1:35:39Speaker 4: In all honesty, Like, do you feel like just an
- 1:35:42Speaker 4: acknowledgment of the day or do you feel like you
- 1:35:44Speaker 4: don't want to be wined and dine or anything like that?
- 1:35:47Speaker 7: Just like I definitely feel like Mother's Day and Father's
- 1:35:49Speaker 7: Day is way different.
- 1:35:50Speaker 2: Yes, oh yeah, you don't miss Mother's Day.
- 1:35:52Speaker 5: Mother's Day is like brunch or something far. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:35:58Speaker 5: Father's Day is another day and I and I'm just
- 1:36:01Speaker 5: like Fred, I'm perfectly fine with that.
- 1:36:03Speaker 4: I make a big deal out of both. But I
- 1:36:05Speaker 4: don't think it's necessarily because my dad cares. I think
- 1:36:07Speaker 4: my mom wants to do it for him. Yeah, so
- 1:36:10Speaker 4: both times, there are occasions, And.
- 1:36:12Speaker 5: My dad's birthday is the twenty first, so it always
- 1:36:15Speaker 5: kind of coincides anyway.
- 1:36:19Speaker 2: L from Wisconsin. I think Craft's saying money isn't an
- 1:36:21Speaker 2: issue is not pressuring Bill to sign high priced players,
- 1:36:24Speaker 2: but rather an attempt to absolve guilt for Bill not
- 1:36:27Speaker 2: signing those players. I think whatever Juju was being paid
- 1:36:30Speaker 2: is already way too much for that position in Bill's mind.
- 1:36:34Speaker 2: I don't see any way Hopkins comes to New England.
- 1:36:36Speaker 5: Well, if that kind of stuff is true, and I
- 1:36:38Speaker 5: don't necessarily disagree with them, they have bigger problems if
- 1:36:42Speaker 5: they're not adjusting to the economic times of the league. Yeah,
- 1:36:45Speaker 5: because Juju Smith is not quote unquote overpaid for that position. Now,
- 1:36:49Speaker 5: if you don't think he's that good or whatever, I mean,
- 1:36:51Speaker 5: that's what players cost money, exactly, and at some point
- 1:36:55Speaker 5: they you know, if Bill is really still stuck in
- 1:36:58Speaker 5: two thousand and three and thinks these are all overpaid,
- 1:37:01Speaker 5: then that's a problem.
- 1:37:02Speaker 4: I've thought that for a couple of years now. Is
- 1:37:04Speaker 4: my number one concern is the market at the skill position,
- 1:37:08Speaker 4: specifically wide receivers, has really skewed. It has changed dramatically
- 1:37:13Speaker 4: that those guys are now becoming essentially the highest paid
- 1:37:17Speaker 4: non quarterbacks in the NFL. Like the top wide receivers
- 1:37:20Speaker 4: now are it's quarterback and then it's receiver. And the
- 1:37:24Speaker 4: Patriots are one of the few teams that has not adjusted.
- 1:37:27Speaker 4: And once upon a time you could say that their
- 1:37:29Speaker 4: payment structure in the way that they they went about
- 1:37:31Speaker 4: things where they were winning all these championships. It was working,
- 1:37:34Speaker 4: But now it's not working anymore. And the teams that
- 1:37:36Speaker 4: are overpaying the wide receivers in air quotes are winning.
- 1:37:40Speaker 4: So it is. You know, Philadelphia is in the Super
- 1:37:43Speaker 4: Bowl last year. They spent all sorts of assets on
- 1:37:46Speaker 4: wide receivers. That was that a bad decision for them?
- 1:37:49Speaker 5: Well, I always say, when you have a really good
- 1:37:51Speaker 5: player on your team, do you ever say to yourself,
- 1:37:54Speaker 5: he's really good, but man, is he overpaid? Have you
- 1:37:58Speaker 5: ever said that or thought that, like you have a like,
- 1:38:01Speaker 5: oh boy, I'll tell you that Patrick Mahomes, he's a
- 1:38:03Speaker 5: really good quarterback, but I can't believe they pay him
- 1:38:05Speaker 5: that much money much.
- 1:38:06Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:38:06Speaker 5: Now, I'm let's eliminate the fact that all athletes are overpaid,
- 1:38:11Speaker 5: like in real world, real life times. I'm just buy
- 1:38:15Speaker 5: football standards, Like I don't think you would ever lament
- 1:38:18Speaker 5: giving a guy a lot of money who's really good
- 1:38:20Speaker 5: for you, right, Yeah, I mean until.
- 1:38:21Speaker 2: The moment he isn't. Then money becomes the issue.
- 1:38:24Speaker 4: Until they prove that a bigger issue is that he's
- 1:38:26Speaker 4: not doing what you thought he was going to do, right, Yeah,
- 1:38:29Speaker 4: until they prove that they can draft at the position
- 1:38:31Speaker 4: at wide receiver, they got to do something. They either
- 1:38:34Speaker 4: have to be you either have to be good at
- 1:38:36Speaker 4: drafting them or you have to pay them. Like there's
- 1:38:38Speaker 4: no you can't go in this like middle ground of
- 1:38:41Speaker 4: just kind of going down the middle. You can't do
- 1:38:44Speaker 4: that because you're going to be dranked twenty ninth in
- 1:38:47Speaker 4: the league in terms of your wide receiving courts.
- 1:38:49Speaker 2: And if you're good at drafting, eventually you gotta pay him.
- 1:38:52Speaker 7: Do you think that's with like every position?
- 1:38:54Speaker 5: Though, Like with J C.
- 1:38:55Speaker 7: Jackson, would you have paid him or are you?
- 1:38:57Speaker 2: Are you cool with letting him out? I was cool
- 1:38:59Speaker 2: with letting him go.
- 1:39:01Speaker 4: I think defense is different. I think the top defensive
- 1:39:03Speaker 4: players in the league are going to push that twenty
- 1:39:05Speaker 4: plus million dollar mark. But for the most part, the
- 1:39:08Speaker 4: other guys are all kind of the same. I think
- 1:39:10Speaker 4: they're you have to look, you know, they're needle moving
- 1:39:13Speaker 4: positions wide receiver, quarterback, pass rusher, and like a true
- 1:39:16Speaker 4: premier corner.
- 1:39:17Speaker 5: I was okay letting him go because I didn't think
- 1:39:19Speaker 5: he was that good right now. If I thought he
- 1:39:20Speaker 5: was Steph.
- 1:39:21Speaker 4: Gilmore, Oh in his prime, it's different, well it would
- 1:39:24Speaker 4: have been.
- 1:39:24Speaker 3: And then I thought had a good like he kind
- 1:39:25Speaker 3: of brought up Jack Jones and J. C. Jackson like
- 1:39:27Speaker 3: kind of you know, I know jac Jackson wasn't drafted,
- 1:39:29Speaker 3: he had some issues, but similar kind of guys, you know,
- 1:39:32Speaker 3: and like those for the ball. Maybe not like a
- 1:39:35Speaker 3: you know, a perfect man corner, but can play and
- 1:39:38Speaker 3: has a nose for the.
- 1:39:38Speaker 2: Ball, that kind of thing. Let's see Kyle and Pembroke.
- 1:39:43Speaker 2: It sucks that Jack Jones incident has happened. And while
- 1:39:46Speaker 2: as a fan, I'm hoping for that magical story that
- 1:39:49Speaker 2: allows him to play, because I do think he was
- 1:39:51Speaker 2: developing into something special, I'm not super worried. While Speed
- 1:39:55Speaker 2: and Bolden aren't as talented, they have raw attributes that
- 1:40:00Speaker 2: make me hopeful. Six foot and four to three speed,
- 1:40:03Speaker 2: with Bill Belichick free to coach more on defense, I'm
- 1:40:06Speaker 2: hoping one of them develops into a capable rotation piece.
- 1:40:10Speaker 2: Do you guys think that'll be their approach or do
- 1:40:12Speaker 2: you think they try to bring someone in.
- 1:40:15Speaker 6: I mean, I guess I think that maybe they'll give
- 1:40:17Speaker 6: those guys a chance just so they do have some
- 1:40:19Speaker 6: depth there. I would not be surprised if they brought
- 1:40:21Speaker 6: somebody in. I have a hard time convincing myself that
- 1:40:24Speaker 6: a Mere Speed and Isaiah Bolden are.
- 1:40:27Speaker 2: Going to go from what they were. I don't think
- 1:40:28Speaker 2: they need corners.
- 1:40:29Speaker 5: I really don't think those two guys need to be
- 1:40:32Speaker 5: rotational pieces on defense.
- 1:40:34Speaker 4: I think Jalen Mills moving to safety was like a luxury.
- 1:40:37Speaker 4: We could do this because we do it. We drafted
- 1:40:40Speaker 4: Gonzales and now we have all this depth. So if
- 1:40:42Speaker 4: he goes back to playing more corner, maybe he plays
- 1:40:44Speaker 4: a little bit of a hybrid of both, and there
- 1:40:47Speaker 4: are still four deep at corner.
- 1:40:49Speaker 5: And you guys can correct me if I'm not remembering properly,
- 1:40:53Speaker 5: but I felt like Mills got a lot of time
- 1:40:56Speaker 5: at safety. I felt like he was in the slot
- 1:40:58Speaker 5: a lot or I very rarely saw him as that
- 1:41:01Speaker 5: deep guy, which I would have thought they want the
- 1:41:04Speaker 5: Devn replacement. I would have thought that's where they're looking
- 1:41:06Speaker 5: at Jalen Mills. I'm not saying he didn't take any
- 1:41:09Speaker 5: snaps there, but I didn't remember. I remember seeing closer
- 1:41:11Speaker 5: the line of skage than that. Well, so they did
- 1:41:13Speaker 5: a lot of pool. I saw back deep more than
- 1:41:15Speaker 5: than Jalen Mills.
- 1:41:16Speaker 4: The offense was running a lot of too tight end
- 1:41:18Speaker 4: because of the personnel that they had available, and the
- 1:41:21Speaker 4: defense was matching in those big nickel and big dime
- 1:41:24Speaker 4: packages with the three safeties. But to me, Jalen Mills,
- 1:41:27Speaker 4: his ideal role for them was freeing up Kyle Duggar
- 1:41:32Speaker 4: and Jabriel Peppers and Adrian Phillips to play more natural
- 1:41:35Speaker 4: safety roles and not that box, you know, hybrid role
- 1:41:39Speaker 4: as much because Mills could cover tight ends and Mills
- 1:41:42Speaker 4: could play out of the slot and and be a
- 1:41:44Speaker 4: little bit more of like a man coverage guy, which
- 1:41:46Speaker 4: would have freed up Kyle Duggar to be a little
- 1:41:49Speaker 4: more flexible.
- 1:41:50Speaker 2: Eight five five pass five hundred is the ace taken hutline.
- 1:41:53Speaker 2: Eldred's in North Carolina. What's up, Eldred? Aldred?
- 1:41:58Speaker 18: Hey, lady, Hey doing all right?
- 1:42:02Speaker 7: Yeah?
- 1:42:02Speaker 18: Kind of breaking up with it? That's me as a yacht.
- 1:42:04Speaker 5: I think it's you. You sound great, you said, okay, okay,
- 1:42:08Speaker 5: all right.
- 1:42:09Speaker 18: Then heaven hell you man. But long as Bill's GM,
- 1:42:14Speaker 18: we'll never get a top receiver draft wise or pay wise.
- 1:42:17Speaker 18: That's not in this DNA. I'm sorry you had a
- 1:42:21Speaker 18: chance to get Diggs we had Brady, you had a
- 1:42:24Speaker 18: chance to get Hopkins. When we had Brady, you didn't
- 1:42:26Speaker 18: do neither. You had a chance to get oval A
- 1:42:28Speaker 18: last year you got a guard. But he's not going
- 1:42:31Speaker 18: that's not in this DNA.
- 1:42:32Speaker 7: Man.
- 1:42:33Speaker 18: You know, you like them flow guys with the Giant
- 1:42:36Speaker 18: had back in the nineties that could jump just get
- 1:42:38Speaker 18: the ball, you know, and then you know that's just
- 1:42:41Speaker 18: that's just him. He got his philosophy on what he's
- 1:42:43Speaker 18: paying until we get rid of the GM. We all
- 1:42:47Speaker 18: we had this question that wide receiver. Yeah, everybody said,
- 1:42:50Speaker 18: but Phil, I might see it, but he ain't paying it.
- 1:42:55Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, I don't think. I'm I just disagree
- 1:42:58Speaker 4: with that philosophy. I'm not saying that I think that
- 1:43:00Speaker 4: he's gonna change the stripes. I just don't think it's
- 1:43:02Speaker 4: the right way to go about it.
- 1:43:05Speaker 18: I don't think, dude, But I hope, Uh, I don't know.
- 1:43:08Speaker 18: That's kind of dumb. Take guns to to a alfoy
- 1:43:11Speaker 18: because you know, you look, you didn't get shocked, but
- 1:43:13Speaker 18: I thought you were the terrorist. You never know, but uh,
- 1:43:16Speaker 18: but uh, speed, I just hope they coached that guy
- 1:43:20Speaker 18: up because I like it's living at speed. You know,
- 1:43:22Speaker 18: and the other guys I see death on the roster
- 1:43:25Speaker 18: six to one whatever, six two. I don't know if
- 1:43:28Speaker 18: they can play, but if I was the cornerback coach,
- 1:43:31Speaker 18: I'll try to coach him up.
- 1:43:33Speaker 6: You know.
- 1:43:33Speaker 18: Yeah, well the what I got. You have a good one,
- 1:43:36Speaker 18: all right?
- 1:43:38Speaker 2: Thanks? Aldred?
- 1:43:41Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean yeah, I mean look at that that
- 1:43:43Speaker 5: defensive backfield again, you know, Gonzales, Jonathan Jones, Marcus Jones,
- 1:43:50Speaker 5: Jalen Mills, Kyle Duger, Adrian Phillips, Jabrill Peppers, that's Brian Miles, Bryant,
- 1:43:59Speaker 5: thank you, Josh Bledsoe mob who possibly part of the
- 1:44:04Speaker 5: secondary as opposed to linebacker. But in that mix, you
- 1:44:09Speaker 5: have to go eight nine deep before you get to
- 1:44:13Speaker 5: Sean Wade, a Mere Speed or Isaiah Bolden. I think
- 1:44:18Speaker 5: that Speed and Bolden do have athletic traits that would
- 1:44:22Speaker 5: lend themselves to being able to play at the NFL
- 1:44:24Speaker 5: level on special teams. And if you can do that,
- 1:44:28Speaker 5: then maybe eventually you can become, you know, a rotational
- 1:44:32Speaker 5: piece on defense. But I don't think the twenty twenty
- 1:44:35Speaker 5: three even without Jack Jones, I don't think in twenty
- 1:44:37Speaker 5: twenty three they'll need those either. One of those guys
- 1:44:40Speaker 5: to be a rotational piece. I don't think anyway.
- 1:44:43Speaker 4: No, I wouldn't say that they would need them. I
- 1:44:45Speaker 4: think that they it opens up a roster spot to
- 1:44:48Speaker 4: carry them as a special teamer potentially. And you know,
- 1:44:50Speaker 4: I look at not the pick on them, but I
- 1:44:53Speaker 4: look at a guy like Miles Bryan, a mere speed
- 1:44:56Speaker 4: in Isaiah Bolden have much better body types for the
- 1:44:58Speaker 4: kicking game than somebody like Myles Brian And we saw
- 1:45:00Speaker 4: that last year in Buffalo, where you just have the
- 1:45:03Speaker 4: size and to be more a better tackler in space
- 1:45:07Speaker 4: on special teams. So I just look at it as
- 1:45:10Speaker 4: more of like a roster spot than necessarily playing on defense,
- 1:45:13Speaker 4: where it frees up that fifth cornerback spot who absolutely
- 1:45:16Speaker 4: will have to play on special teams to be active
- 1:45:18Speaker 4: on game day, and maybe that does free up something
- 1:45:21Speaker 4: for one of the two rookies, Rick and Louisville.
- 1:45:24Speaker 2: I hate the what if game, but I'll be a
- 1:45:25Speaker 2: hypocrite and player. What F Jones is cut? Do you
- 1:45:28Speaker 2: think there's a good chance Mills returns to corner?
- 1:45:33Speaker 3: Probably?
- 1:45:34Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean I think that Mills can play safety
- 1:45:36Speaker 5: in corner, Yes.
- 1:45:37Speaker 4: Yeah, I think Mills. Either ways, was probably going to
- 1:45:40Speaker 4: be sort of like a reserve corner that in case
- 1:45:43Speaker 4: of emergency if they needed the depth there, that he
- 1:45:45Speaker 4: could move back to playing outside corner. That's not going
- 1:45:50Speaker 4: to be their starting lineup, Like, I don't think that's
- 1:45:52Speaker 4: their ideal week one way of doing things, but he's
- 1:45:55Speaker 4: back in the mix either way.
- 1:45:58Speaker 2: I think this is an off topic, but Brandon writes
- 1:46:02Speaker 2: in about the Brady effect. I was just thinking about
- 1:46:05Speaker 2: how players in the nineties are criticized for not winning
- 1:46:07Speaker 2: championships because of Jordan, like he blocked them. What about Tom?
- 1:46:11Speaker 2: How many Super Bowls would Mahomes already have? I think
- 1:46:14Speaker 2: the better one is Manning Peyton Manning.
- 1:46:16Speaker 4: Peyton Manhomes would have won more, right twenty eighteen?
- 1:46:19Speaker 2: How many more would Peyton Manning have if Brady wasn't around.
- 1:46:22Speaker 4: Oh, I guess because the Tampa I just like blocked
- 1:46:25Speaker 4: the Tampa boy.
- 1:46:26Speaker 5: Yeah. Yeah, because he blocked him with the AC Championship
- 1:46:29Speaker 5: game and he beat him in the Super Bowl.
- 1:46:31Speaker 6: I mean, I wonder would Philip Rivers have gotten the
- 1:46:33Speaker 6: Super Bowl maybe, like you know, those guys that.
- 1:46:35Speaker 5: Charger's team, certainly, I don't. I don't know if they
- 1:46:39Speaker 5: were sustained, but that two thousand and six was a
- 1:46:43Speaker 5: very good football team.
- 1:46:44Speaker 3: I mean they're sixteen one. You said the twenty sixteen,
- 1:46:46Speaker 3: you said two.
- 1:46:47Speaker 5: Thousand and six.
- 1:46:48Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, that's what the Seahawks would have been a dynasty, ye, Merryman.
- 1:46:51Speaker 4: The legion of Boom Seahawks would have been a dynasty
- 1:46:54Speaker 4: if it wasn't for pe Catt.
- 1:46:56Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:46:58Speaker 5: Sure, I like Pete due That was a cheap shot,
- 1:47:02Speaker 5: Darryl Belly, because I do like Pete. Pete was nice
- 1:47:07Speaker 5: to me my one year here that he was here.
- 1:47:09Speaker 2: Paul and Drake it, I don't think this season ever
- 1:47:12Speaker 2: was answered. I don't think. I'm sorry, I don't think
- 1:47:15Speaker 2: this question was ever answered when it was posed at
- 1:47:17Speaker 2: the end of December. Do you folks think now that
- 1:47:20Speaker 2: the team hired Billy Oh, that Patricia and Judge as
- 1:47:23Speaker 2: Ocs was an emergency plan while waiting for Billy Oh
- 1:47:27Speaker 2: at this point, does it concern you if the answer
- 1:47:29Speaker 2: is yes, yes, or is this now irrelevant because it
- 1:47:34Speaker 2: may have taken a year, but we got our guy.
- 1:47:37Speaker 6: I'm with Paul, with Paul too, and it's it's most
- 1:47:40Speaker 6: confounding to me now of what what exactly the hope
- 1:47:44Speaker 6: was for how that was going to work out last year.
- 1:47:46Speaker 6: But I mean, and I said it on the show,
- 1:47:48Speaker 6: just just watching remembering Matt Patricia run from coordinating the
- 1:47:52Speaker 6: offense over to the offensive line as they waited for
- 1:47:55Speaker 6: him to come and provide coaching and instruction. Like it's
- 1:47:58Speaker 6: just back to normal now, where you have a offense
- 1:48:00Speaker 6: line coach down at Dante's Lilary and they're doing their thing, and.
- 1:48:04Speaker 2: The more we get away from it, more head scratch.
- 1:48:07Speaker 2: I kind of still think it was a plan B.
- 1:48:09Speaker 2: But I also think that Bill thought it could work.
- 1:48:12Speaker 2: I thought he honestly thought that, you know what, just
- 1:48:15Speaker 2: could work.
- 1:48:16Speaker 5: Right. So what I'm saying is if he went into
- 1:48:20Speaker 5: it saying, I'm gonna put these guys in for one
- 1:48:22Speaker 5: year and then just get Billy, No, no, no, no,
- 1:48:24Speaker 5: that's what that's the theory. Yeah, And I think we
- 1:48:27Speaker 5: all think that that's negligent if that was the theory.
- 1:48:30Speaker 4: I just I think about it in terms of the quarterback,
- 1:48:32Speaker 4: like you had this second year quarterback and needed the
- 1:48:35Speaker 4: proper coaching and needed to be developed and needed to
- 1:48:37Speaker 4: be brought along, and you very well could have ruined.
- 1:48:41Speaker 4: You might have still, like Bill O'Brien. I know that
- 1:48:44Speaker 4: we saw some good flashes and some good things from
- 1:48:47Speaker 4: Mac in the spring, it still doesn't look all the
- 1:48:49Speaker 4: way back to me like it still doesn't look to
- 1:48:51Speaker 4: me like his confidence and and sort of his you know,
- 1:48:54Speaker 4: overall demeanor is one hundred percent back to where it
- 1:48:57Speaker 4: was in his rookie year. And if they the last
- 1:49:01Speaker 4: year's experiment ruined Mac Jones for good, then that is
- 1:49:06Speaker 4: a really the whole that says the whole organization back
- 1:49:10Speaker 4: a decade.
- 1:49:10Speaker 5: Probably again. I know someone said, we don't like to
- 1:49:13Speaker 5: play what ifs, but what if that what if that's right?
- 1:49:16Speaker 5: What if he irreparably damaged Mac Jones? You still feel
- 1:49:19Speaker 5: good because it was a plan only to be a
- 1:49:21Speaker 5: one stop shot and then replaced him with Billy O'Brien.
- 1:49:24Speaker 2: Yeah, no, I'm just saying that.
- 1:49:25Speaker 5: I think chess checkers.
- 1:49:27Speaker 2: I don't think Bill went into it though I can't
- 1:49:30Speaker 2: get Bill O'Brien.
- 1:49:31Speaker 5: I think that he felt like Matt Patricia was a
- 1:49:35Speaker 5: better option than anything else he had. Yeah, and that's
- 1:49:38Speaker 5: what he did, and it didn't work, and he said,
- 1:49:41Speaker 5: I gotta see if I can get Bill O'Brien. Now, now, okay,
- 1:49:44Speaker 5: you could even argue whether or not that was his choice.
- 1:49:47Speaker 5: That's true, because I would make an argument against even that,
- 1:49:49Speaker 5: but I'm not gonna do it. But it's any And
- 1:49:51Speaker 5: it also is.
- 1:49:52Speaker 4: Like the next step two of naming Joe Judge the
- 1:49:54Speaker 4: quarterbacks coach on top of an inexperienced play caller running
- 1:49:58Speaker 4: the offense. So you didn't even go out and get
- 1:50:01Speaker 4: a real quarterbacks coach. You just threw Joe Judge in
- 1:50:04Speaker 4: that position. So maybe you could have kept the trade
- 1:50:08Speaker 4: on the tracks a little bit if you had Mac
- 1:50:10Speaker 4: working with somebody that was an experienced quarterbacks coach. But
- 1:50:13Speaker 4: instead you threw two you know, kind of wrenches at
- 1:50:17Speaker 4: him and and now all of a sudden, we're putting
- 1:50:21Speaker 4: we're putting Humpty Dumpty back together again, and he might
- 1:50:24Speaker 4: not be able to.
- 1:50:25Speaker 6: That's a good point, em because I there wasn't really
- 1:50:27Speaker 6: a buffer, like it would have been nice maybe if
- 1:50:29Speaker 6: there was just a buffer from the craziness of someone
- 1:50:32Speaker 6: that Matt could have confided in a little.
- 1:50:34Speaker 4: Bit, no one to play good cop back right, it
- 1:50:36Speaker 4: was just right, or even just like kept him mechanically
- 1:50:38Speaker 4: in tow, you know, like.
- 1:50:40Speaker 5: He couldn't he couldn't feel comfortable with any of that.
- 1:50:44Speaker 3: Right, it'll be different from each one of them.
- 1:50:46Speaker 4: Right, It's just even beyond like game plan and in
- 1:50:49Speaker 4: gameplay calling and all that type of stuff. Like if
- 1:50:52Speaker 4: you just had a Jerry Schlipplinsky type or you know,
- 1:50:56Speaker 4: Bo hart Agree who knew new quarterbacks and worked with
- 1:50:58Speaker 4: quarterbacks and Jetfish Jedfish, like maybe his mechanics and in
- 1:51:03Speaker 4: the way that he actually threw the ball wouldn't completely Jedfish.
- 1:51:06Speaker 4: You wouldn't completely have gone off the rails by by
- 1:51:09Speaker 4: the first Bills game.
- 1:51:10Speaker 7: You know.
- 1:51:11Speaker 2: It just the whole thing was a process. I'm of
- 1:51:14Speaker 2: the mind it considers me that Belichick essentially roll the
- 1:51:16Speaker 2: dice for a year if it was the case, But
- 1:51:18Speaker 2: given will never know. Maybe I just pretend last season
- 1:51:22Speaker 2: ever happened like the cam Yere and look forward to
- 1:51:24Speaker 2: a fresh start this season.
- 1:51:26Speaker 6: I just I think the thing I can't shake is
- 1:51:28Speaker 6: that why why wouldn't you just go hire a new
- 1:51:31Speaker 6: young offensive coordinator who's outside of the building and you know,
- 1:51:34Speaker 6: try to go different direction, And so that's why it does.
- 1:51:37Speaker 6: I can't rule out that, like I can't get one
- 1:51:39Speaker 6: of my guys back. Let's just kind of ride it
- 1:51:41Speaker 6: out with a couple of my guys and see how
- 1:51:42Speaker 6: it goes.
- 1:51:43Speaker 4: Why why didn't we go through the same process they
- 1:51:46Speaker 4: went through this offseason and now, And I know the
- 1:51:48Speaker 4: press release was a little bit out of character and
- 1:51:50Speaker 4: things like that, but an interview process, a legitimate interview
- 1:51:53Speaker 4: process that did not happen after Josh McDaniels left. And
- 1:51:57Speaker 4: Josh McDaniels left what in January right for? It wasn't
- 1:52:00Speaker 4: like he left, you know, and at last minute and
- 1:52:04Speaker 4: all of a sudden, you know, decided to pivot and
- 1:52:06Speaker 4: go to the Raiders. This was a known thing that
- 1:52:08Speaker 4: was going on. It just why we didn't have a
- 1:52:12Speaker 4: real search and a real interview process and interview real
- 1:52:18Speaker 4: experienced guys, whether it was from the college or the
- 1:52:20Speaker 4: pro game and gone about it that way. I still
- 1:52:23Speaker 4: just can't understand.
- 1:52:24Speaker 7: Maybe Bill was just pitched a plan to mister Craft
- 1:52:28Speaker 7: and said, like, I think this could work, and must
- 1:52:30Speaker 7: have convinced him. But now I think that because we
- 1:52:32Speaker 7: don't because that experiment, experiment, not my words, someone else's words,
- 1:52:37Speaker 7: experiment went wrong. It's like now he's like gonna have
- 1:52:40Speaker 7: to listen to mister Craft and whatever he says.
- 1:52:42Speaker 2: So all right, that's gonna do it for this edition
- 1:52:46Speaker 2: of Patriots Unfiltered. We'll be back Thursday. I'm sure that
