- 0:00[SPEAKER_01]: Hey friend, welcome back to Bible Trek Echoes.
- 0:02[SPEAKER_01]: I'm Mike McCurray, your host.
- 0:04[SPEAKER_01]: I want to thank you so much for taking your time and joining me right here today.
- 0:09[SPEAKER_01]: It's such a joy.
- 0:10[SPEAKER_01]: It really is a privilege to speak to each one of you.
- 0:14[SPEAKER_01]: I am blessed to speak to so many people live and in person.
- 0:19[SPEAKER_01]: I get to be in churches all across America and the world on a yearly basis.
- 0:24[SPEAKER_01]: But I also greatly relish the privilege it is to speak to you through this medium of
- 0:31[SPEAKER_01]: Radio.
- 0:31[SPEAKER_01]: Some of you listen on demand on podcasts.
- 0:34[SPEAKER_01]: Some listen on your favorite radio station at the same time on the same day Monday through Friday.
- 0:41[SPEAKER_01]: And regardless of how you consume this content, if we can call it that, thank you so much.
- 0:48[SPEAKER_01]: Today, I have the opportunity to begin a series, a message that I preached not long ago.
- 0:56[SPEAKER_01]: You see, I get to be a part of a lot of camps, summer camps, and get to invest in a lot of young people.
- 1:02[SPEAKER_01]: I have been doing so for years now, and it almost makes me heartken back to the years of Paul Levine.
- 1:09[SPEAKER_01]: he preached youth camps and teen camps for decades, literally for plus decades during his time on earth.
- 1:18[SPEAKER_01]: He passed away in ninety six, but he was faithful till the end.
- 1:22[SPEAKER_01]: And I have a thought that the Lord gave me that I communicated to some young people.
- 1:27[SPEAKER_01]: The message you're going to hear in just a moment when I asked you to tune your ears, the message that I communicate.
- 1:34[SPEAKER_01]: I have a little bit of a raspy voice, probably even now, can't kind of take it out of you sometimes, but when I was preaching, it was probably even worse.
- 1:44[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think you have to battle too hard to understand what I'm saying, but certainly I may sound just a bit out of the ordinary.
- 1:51[SPEAKER_01]: I'm preaching in a place called Common Ground Baptist Camp in Butler, Pennsylvania.
- 1:56[SPEAKER_01]: My good friend, Pastor Jim Cron, is the director, the president of that camp.
- 2:02[SPEAKER_01]: And my friend, Caleb Cron, his son, is the, I guess, the technically the director of the camp as well.
- 2:08[SPEAKER_01]: I'm so blessed to call them my compatriots, my brothers and arms, and get to serve alongside them for a few weeks every summer.
- 2:16[SPEAKER_01]: But I got to preach to teenagers, so this particular week that you're going to hear this message.
- 2:23[SPEAKER_01]: It's going to be cut up over the next couple of days of this broadcast.
- 2:28[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to ask you if you would listen.
- 2:29[SPEAKER_01]: There's a specific question I want to ask you.
- 2:32[SPEAKER_01]: I heard many good reports from this message after the fact many young people went back home and on Sunday night they would give testimonies to their church and many pastors and some teenagers told me that it was a blessing to the youth groups and
- 2:49[SPEAKER_01]: I want to share with you if you allow me to.
- 2:52[SPEAKER_01]: So if you would listen in as I preach to teenagers, but what I say and what the Lord had me to say, my prayer in my hope is that it will be a blessing to you as well.
- 3:04[SPEAKER_01]: Listen in.
- 3:05[SPEAKER_01]: Pastor Crohn, thank you so much for the privilege.
- 3:07[SPEAKER_01]: Greatly appreciate His friendship.
- 3:09[SPEAKER_01]: I've said it a multitude of times, but your deity, your God, your deity determines your doctrine.
- 3:21[SPEAKER_01]: who you hold up is God determines what you believe.
- 3:25[SPEAKER_01]: The humanists would say, I am God, therefore I determine what I believe.
- 3:29[SPEAKER_01]: It's a fallacy.
- 3:30[SPEAKER_01]: There's a falsehood in that, of course.
- 3:33[SPEAKER_01]: Your doctrine determines your direction.
- 3:38[SPEAKER_01]: What you believe is going to determine the way you're walking.
- 3:43[SPEAKER_01]: And your direction will determine your destination.
- 3:48[SPEAKER_01]: some point the end of these four weeks, I'm going to get on eighty going back west and I'm Lord Willing and a bypass Chicago and go about an hour south in Illinois and get to my home and Dwight Illinois in time for football camp and all that and have a great time there.
- 4:03[SPEAKER_01]: But if I got on the highway going east, I'd have a hard time.
- 4:07[SPEAKER_01]: and I get wet driving into the ocean sometimes soon, you know?
- 4:11[SPEAKER_01]: But I've noticed that your direction, not only to determine your destination, but your direction all determines your traveling companions along the way.
- 4:20[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to merge onto the highway with a lot of other people going the same direction.
- 4:27[SPEAKER_01]: Caleb Cron asked me one time, why are we friends?
- 4:31[SPEAKER_01]: where we're different cats.
- 4:33[SPEAKER_01]: We are, I don't know if you'd say we're two peas in the pod.
- 4:36[SPEAKER_01]: Dr. No, DAT, we are.
- 4:39[SPEAKER_01]: And so we just happen to fall into lockstep and we're walking the same direction because we're planning on going to the same place.
- 4:45[SPEAKER_01]: I'd encourage you about that.
- 4:47[SPEAKER_01]: We're in first Samuel chapter, seventeen.
- 4:51[SPEAKER_01]: There was much more I could say, I found that I preach far better when I'm well rested.
- 4:59[SPEAKER_01]: But I rely on God a lot better when I'm tired.
- 5:03[SPEAKER_01]: If I could just put those two things together one day, I'd be, I'd be in good shape.
- 5:11[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not going to be, well, Lord may change my mind, but I was a plan on being allowed in Boystris tonight with the state of my voice.
- 5:19[SPEAKER_01]: people, I remember I was at a preach at him, vent for young people, and the gentleman, you know, those, those introductions, that, that introduction, it was sickly sweet, you know, it's like perfume, it smells real nice, but Lord help you if you drink it, you know.
- 5:37[SPEAKER_01]: But he gives an introduction, well, this gentleman was introducing me, and he didn't talk about ministry, he didn't talk about all that, and you know, Bible preaching, he said, and Mike is voice, and Mike is voice, he wouldn't shut, and so I get to the pulpit note, those people most of them hadn't heard me before.
- 5:51[SPEAKER_01]: And so I got to the pulpit, and he was like, he has this deep radio voice, and sounds like Darth Vader, and you know, and I feel like I'm breathing like Darth Vader was, you know, a second ago.
- 6:04[SPEAKER_01]: And I got to the microphone, and I said, hello, everybody, how are you doing tonight?
- 6:09[SPEAKER_01]: But I couldn't keep it up and preach that way, but I'm glad in the precipice of losing my voice.
- 6:18[SPEAKER_01]: I'm glad God doesn't need my voice to talk to you tonight.
- 6:23[SPEAKER_01]: The Holy Spirit of God is a far better preacher than I will ever be.
- 6:26[SPEAKER_01]: In just a moment we're gonna pray
- 6:30[SPEAKER_01]: I'm gonna ask you to talk to God because I'm convinced he can hear more than one of us at a time.
- 6:36[SPEAKER_01]: He can hear every person in this room.
- 6:39[SPEAKER_01]: What an incredible thing would be.
- 6:40[SPEAKER_01]: We talk about saving time.
- 6:42[SPEAKER_01]: You're a great way to gain some time, to make use of some time if we had two hundred fifty people assault the throne of God with prayer all the same time.
- 6:52[SPEAKER_01]: If we only did so for a minute, that's two hundred fifty minutes, all at once.
- 6:58[SPEAKER_01]: I'd ask you if you would.
- 7:00[SPEAKER_01]: My father-in-law calls it two for two.
- 7:03[SPEAKER_01]: You start the service humble and you end the service humble.
- 7:06[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe at an altar.
- 7:08[SPEAKER_01]: I encourage you.
- 7:10[SPEAKER_01]: Let's go and start with a prayer and we'll get into the Bible here.
- 7:13[SPEAKER_01]: Why?
- 7:13[SPEAKER_01]: Pray audibly.
- 7:14[SPEAKER_01]: I'd like you to pray silently and we'll get into the Bible in just a moment.
- 7:17[SPEAKER_01]: Ask for God to speak to you tonight, Father.
- 7:21[SPEAKER_01]: I need to rely on you, like maybe never before.
- 7:24[SPEAKER_01]: God, I'd ask that you do a work that only you can do.
- 7:28[SPEAKER_01]: We say those words, and we seldom mean them often.
- 7:32[SPEAKER_01]: We try to rest control of the situation and apply talent or charisma or a fancy outline Lord, I'd ask that you would be visible tonight above all else.
- 7:46[SPEAKER_01]: And that you do a work that is beyond a man's ability.
- 7:51[SPEAKER_01]: Bless these a few moments we have for your honor, for your glory.
- 7:57[SPEAKER_01]: We ask all these things in your son's precious name, we pray.
- 8:00[SPEAKER_01]: Amen.
- 8:01[SPEAKER_01]: First King, first Samuel, I'm sorry, Seventeen, first King, Seventeen, and hopefully you're not in your song book right now.
- 8:08[SPEAKER_01]: Hopefully you're in your Bible.
- 8:09[SPEAKER_01]: First King, Seventeen, would you stand with me for just a moment?
- 8:12[SPEAKER_01]: I realize normally we pray after I obviously have all of you sitting just a second.
- 8:16[SPEAKER_01]: First King, Seventeen, first number one, the Bible says this.
- 8:20[SPEAKER_01]: Now the Philistines gathered
- 8:23[SPEAKER_01]: together their armies to battle, and we're gathered together at showcoach belonging to Judah.
- 8:30[SPEAKER_01]: pitched between Shoko and Azika in Ephesus' name and saw him in the men of Israel were gathered together and pitched by the Valley of Ela and set the battle in Array against the Philistines and the Philistines stood on a mountain on the one side and Israel stood on a mountain on the other side and there was a valley between them and they're went out a champion out of the camp of the Philistines named Goliath of Gath whose height was six qubits and a span.
- 8:59[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, we're going to be looking at David and Eliath, but I'd like to ask a question that I will get to in just a moment.
- 9:05[SPEAKER_01]: You've probably heard this particular passage maybe quite possibly more than any other passage in Scripture.
- 9:14[SPEAKER_01]: If you've been in church for any length of time, it's referenced.
- 9:18[SPEAKER_01]: It's popular enough to be referenced in pop culture.
- 9:21[SPEAKER_01]: It's an incredibly, it's an effective illustration of so many different things.
- 9:26[SPEAKER_01]: And you've heard in a single time after time, after time.
- 9:29[SPEAKER_01]: And you can probably tell me the approximate height of the lieth based on what historians think.
- 9:34[SPEAKER_01]: And you can imagine in your minds, I, maybe you did so for the first time as a three or four year old, you thought about what this must have been like.
- 9:43[SPEAKER_01]: But I'd like to ask a question in just a moment.
- 9:46[SPEAKER_01]: A question where to get from Scripture.
- 9:49[SPEAKER_01]: And I'd like you to do this when I ask the question, I'd like you to in your heart of hearts.
- 9:55[SPEAKER_01]: I'd like you to answer that question.
- 9:58[SPEAKER_01]: The Lord sometimes gets our attention with shock and awe.
- 10:03[SPEAKER_01]: But oftentimes, it's in the still small voice, but the salini.
- 10:07[SPEAKER_01]: Oftentimes, it's in those quiet moments.
- 10:11[SPEAKER_01]: And I could come flying off the top rope
- 10:14[SPEAKER_01]: That's not necessarily my normal style, but if I need to get someone's attention and grab someone's eyeballs, we can clap a little bit and I can scream and I can, but I'd like you to engage your mind.
- 10:29[SPEAKER_01]: And on its way, I'd like you to engage your heart because it may be that God is knocking on the door of your heart tonight.
- 10:38[SPEAKER_01]: God doesn't serve no knock warrants.
- 10:45[SPEAKER_01]: God doesn't show up to your home where you live and bust the door down with a batter ram.
- 10:53[SPEAKER_01]: He doesn't wrap a toe strap to the door handle and pull it off with a truck either.
- 11:00[SPEAKER_01]: He knocks.
- 11:03[SPEAKER_01]: And he doesn't really get super insistent about it.
- 11:06[SPEAKER_01]: He just knocks and keeps knocking.
- 11:09[SPEAKER_01]: But there will come a day when he stops knocking.
- 11:13[SPEAKER_01]: I was sneaking suspicion the fact that you're here tonight means maybe he hasn't stopped knocking on your heart's door.
- 11:19[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you so very much for listening to this day's broadcast.
- 11:25[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to continue this thought and I've got to tell you, friend, no matter how far you've gone, no matter where you are in life, God still wants to speak to you.
- 11:38[SPEAKER_01]: He's still knocking today.
- 11:43[SPEAKER_01]: My question is, are you listening?
- 11:47[SPEAKER_01]: Are you willing to say like Samuel did speak Lord that I servant heareth?
- 11:53[SPEAKER_01]: I want to know what you have for me.
- 11:56[SPEAKER_01]: Well, I'm Bible-tracked echoes all this week and next four days.
- 12:00[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to continue this thought.
- 12:02[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to dive into this particular idea and this thing that God's given me and my prayer is that maybe just maybe the Holy Spirit will allow it to speak to you.
- 12:16[SPEAKER_01]: Even though he was spoken to some teenagers some weeks ago not that long ago really we're still really in summer camp season right now I still have a week or two left of summer camp.
- 12:28[SPEAKER_01]: My prayer is that as it is shared with you over the airwaves that you take it to heart and you would listen with all your heart because God is still knocking and he still wants to speak to you.
- 12:44[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you so much for listening to Bible Trek Echoes.
- 12:47[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to continue tomorrow and I hope that you will tune in, but you will listen with baited breath and open ears and a soft heart to what God has for you.
- 13:00[SPEAKER_01]: My prayer is that you will have a great day for his glory.
- 13:05[SPEAKER_01]: We will plan on talking you very soon.
- 13:07[SPEAKER_01]: I might come a curry.
- 13:08[SPEAKER_01]: You have been listening to Bible, Tract echoes, and I very much look forward to speaking to you soon.
