- 0:00Our business isn't just a platform for success,
- 0:04it's a stage for righteousness.
- 0:07Today,
- 0:08we're in Proverbs 14,
- 0:0934 through 35,
- 0:09because it's the 14th day of the month.
- 0:20SPEAKER_00: Welcome to Marketplace Proverbs and Coffee with Ernie,
- 0:24SPEAKER_00: where a proverb a day keeps stinking thinking at bay.
- 0:28SPEAKER_00: Like a bar of soap we use to cleanse our bodies,
- 0:32we seek internal cleansing through the transformative power of
- 0:36God's Word,
- 0:37SPEAKER_00: specifically from the book of Proverbs.
- 0:41Each of these episodes follows the SOAP method,
- 0:46Scripture,
- 0:47Observation,
- 0:48Application,
- 0:49and Prayer.
- 0:51SPEAKER_00: We explore the proverb that matches today's date,
- 0:54SPEAKER_00: reflect on its wisdom,
- 0:56SPEAKER_00: apply it to the marketplace leadership,
- 0:59SPEAKER_00: and connect with God through prayer.
- 1:03SPEAKER_00: So let's get together in faith, purpose, and practical wisdom.
- 1:07SPEAKER_00: Grab your coffee and let's grow together.
- 1:10Today we're using two translations or versions for Proverbs 14
- 1:15verses 34 through 35.
- 1:19I'm using the CEV as well as the New King James Version,
- 1:25starting with the CEV.
- 1:28SPEAKER_00: Doing right brings honor to a nation, but sin brings disgrace.
- 1:34SPEAKER_00: Kings reward servants who act wisely.
- 1:38SPEAKER_00: but they punish those who act foolishly.
- 1:42SPEAKER_00: That's the CEV.
- 1:44SPEAKER_00: Now,
- 1:44SPEAKER_00: using the New King James Version,
- 1:47SPEAKER_00: Proverbs 14,
- 1:49SPEAKER_00: verses 34 through 35,
- 1:52SPEAKER_00: righteousness exalts a nation,
- 1:55SPEAKER_00: but sin is a reproach to any people.
- 2:00SPEAKER_00: The king's favor is toward a wise servant.
- 2:07SPEAKER_00: Let's flip the script for a moment.
- 2:09What if we think of ourselves as a business or like that nation
- 2:16and a business that
- 2:17SPEAKER_00: is something we've been entrusted to manage,
- 2:20SPEAKER_00: to grow,
- 2:21SPEAKER_00: to add significance to customers?
- 2:24SPEAKER_00: That's kind of what Proverbs 14, 34 through 35 conveys to me.
- 2:30SPEAKER_00: Now, righteousness is not just a moral compass.
- 2:34SPEAKER_00: It's a market advantage.
- 2:36SPEAKER_00: Now, reminder, righteousness is behavior that pleases God.
- 2:42SPEAKER_00: It doesn't mean you have a theological seminary degree.
- 2:45SPEAKER_00: It's just simply righteousness is behavior that pleases God.
- 2:51Now,
- 2:51when we lead with integrity,
- 2:54God-inspired,
- 2:55Holy Spirit-directed integrity is
- 2:59SPEAKER_00: Our influence multiplies and our business thrives.
- 3:04SPEAKER_00: Our relationships deepen and our purpose is felt by those we serve.
- 3:11SPEAKER_00: But there is a warning.
- 3:13SPEAKER_00: If we drift from righteousness,
- 3:15SPEAKER_00: when we start cutting corners,
- 3:18SPEAKER_00: when we embrace ego,
- 3:21SPEAKER_00: remember previously we defined ego as an acronym of edging God out.
- 3:27SPEAKER_00: When we embrace ego,
- 3:29SPEAKER_00: when we prioritize profit over people,
- 3:34SPEAKER_00: we invite instability like Proverbs 14,
- 3:39SPEAKER_00: 34 through 35 suggests.
- 3:43SPEAKER_00: Sin is a reproach to most of us, most people.
- 3:49SPEAKER_00: But in marketplace terms, it's an interest-incurring liability.
- 3:56SPEAKER_00: Think on that.
- 3:57SPEAKER_00: So how do we apply that?
- 3:59SPEAKER_00: What's our application?
- 4:01SPEAKER_00: Well, I call it gospel-centered customer success mastery.
- 4:08Marketplace leadership isn't about clipping coupons and
- 4:12cruising on past wins.
- 4:15It's not about out-hustling the next person or hiding behind
- 4:20polished branding.
- 4:22SPEAKER_00: It's about serving with clarity, consistency, and conviction.
- 4:28SPEAKER_00: Because it's God's business anyway.
- 4:31SPEAKER_00: Why would we lead God's business?
- 4:34SPEAKER_00: Why wouldn't we lead God's business in God's way?
- 4:38SPEAKER_00: The business becomes a mission field.
- 4:41I've said for years the marketplace is the most fertile mission
- 4:45field on planet Earth.
- 4:48SPEAKER_00: Now,
- 4:48SPEAKER_00: it's not because of what we preach,
- 4:51SPEAKER_00: but because how we live the gospel through God's excellence.
- 4:57SPEAKER_00: And that's when customers notice.
- 5:00SPEAKER_00: That's when partners lean in.
- 5:03SPEAKER_00: Not because we wear our faith on our sleeve.
- 5:07Not because we carry a great big King James Version Bible in
- 5:12our briefcase or backpack.
- 5:15SPEAKER_00: But because our decisions.
- 5:18SPEAKER_00: And our relationships are different from the world.
- 5:23SPEAKER_00: They're righteous.
- 5:25SPEAKER_00: They're rooted.
- 5:27SPEAKER_00: Real simple concept.
- 5:30SPEAKER_00: We could go deeper, but our time is limited.
- 5:33SPEAKER_00: Today's customer success code, righteousness isn't just a virtue.
- 5:39SPEAKER_00: It's a value multiplier in the marketplace.
- 5:45SPEAKER_00: I'm going to use the four P's for today's action point.
- 5:50SPEAKER_00: Action point number one, the first P is prayer.
- 5:55SPEAKER_00: Ask for daily wisdom.
- 5:57SPEAKER_00: Don't ask for a lifetime of answers.
- 6:00SPEAKER_00: Ask for today's bread.
- 6:03SPEAKER_00: Wisdom for this moment, one decision at a time.
- 6:08SPEAKER_00: The second P is praise.
- 6:09SPEAKER_00: Praise.
- 6:11Thank God for everything,
- 6:13good or bad,
- 6:13up or down,
- 6:15mountaintop or valley.
- 6:16SPEAKER_00: There's a purpose in it all.
- 6:19As Joseph said in Genesis 50-20,
- 6:22what you meant for evil,
- 6:24God meant for good.
- 6:27SPEAKER_00: The third P is purpose.
- 6:30SPEAKER_00: Recommit to why you're here.
- 6:32SPEAKER_00: Your purpose is simple.
- 6:34SPEAKER_00: Build relationships, deepen trust, plant seeds of significance.
- 6:40SPEAKER_00: Relationships are influence.
- 6:43SPEAKER_00: Nothing more, nothing less.
- 6:47SPEAKER_00: And the fourth P, action point four, is proclamation.
- 6:52SPEAKER_00: Speak it out.
- 6:54Declare that your life,
- 6:55your work,
- 6:56and your leadership is fully submitted to God's authority.
- 7:01SPEAKER_00: You're not chasing a reputation.
- 7:04SPEAKER_00: You're building a legacy.
- 7:06SPEAKER_00: Think on that.
- 7:07SPEAKER_00: Lord, I declare that you are the source of all wisdom.
- 7:14I trust you to guide my thoughts,
- 7:17my words,

- 8:04SPEAKER_00: May your kingdom come.
- 8:05SPEAKER_00: Your will be done in my life, my work, and my leadership.
