- 0:00Speaker 1: Hey, what's going on, everybody?
- 0:00Speaker 2: It's Romeo, and man, we got into a long conversation
- 0:04Speaker 2: about tipping. I guess a lot of people have issues
- 0:07Speaker 2: with tipping, when they should, when they shouldn't.
- 0:09Speaker 1: Let's see.
- 0:10Speaker 2: Let me see what you sent me here. Hey, Rome,
- 0:14Speaker 2: I wanted to ask you a question about the situation
- 0:17Speaker 2: that's happening to me right now.
- 0:20Speaker 1: So about a week and a.
- 0:20Speaker 2: Half ago, my girlfriend moved into my house, which I
- 0:24Speaker 2: think is great. We've been together a little over two years.
- 0:28Speaker 2: We're ready to take that next step. So yesterday I
- 0:31Speaker 2: was sitting at home in my birthday suit, just watching
- 0:34Speaker 2: TV on the couch, watching TV. Rome, her mom walked in.
- 0:43Speaker 2: Apparently she had, she, my girlfriend had given her mom
- 0:47Speaker 2: a key to our house. So her mom saw me there,
- 0:50Speaker 2: freaked out, called for her daughter or called her daughter
- 0:54Speaker 2: and And now my girlfriend is mad at me, saying
- 0:57Speaker 2: I shouldn't have been doing that. Why would she give
- 1:02Speaker 2: her mom a key, Rome? Do you think that's okay?
- 1:05Speaker 2: And how did I end up being the bad guy? Yeah,
- 1:14Speaker 2: I don't know. That's a hell of a way to
- 1:19Speaker 2: start off living together, I'll tell you that much. Of
- 1:22Speaker 2: course your girlfriend shouldn't have given your mom a key.
- 1:24Speaker 1: What the hell's wrong with her?
- 1:26Speaker 2: The only one that should have keys to the house
- 1:27Speaker 2: are you and her. So no, you did absolutely nothing wrong.
- 1:32Speaker 2: Your girlfriend's overreacting. It's probably her mom overreacting. And your
- 1:38Speaker 2: girlfriend is standing up for her mom, which means that
- 1:43Speaker 2: might be a red flag. You might need to nip
- 1:46Speaker 2: that in the bud right now. Get that key back
- 1:49Speaker 2: and tell your girlfriend... Straight up. You didn't do anything wrong.
- 1:53Speaker 2: Because you didn't do anything wrong.
- 1:55Speaker 1: Okay?
- 1:56Speaker 2: That was all about your girlfriend giving your mom a key,
- 2:00Speaker 2: which she shouldn't have done. That's, you know.
- 2:03Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 2:04Speaker 1: You need to regulate on that, bro. You need to
- 2:06Speaker 1: let her know.
- 2:07Speaker 4: Okay?
- 2:08Speaker 2: And no, you're not the bad guy. She's the bad guy, actually.
- 2:12Speaker 2: She created this whole problem. And her and her mom
- 2:15Speaker 2: created this whole problem.
- 2:17Speaker 1: So, yeah, you're going to have to. You're going to
- 2:21Speaker 1: have to lock that down right now. R-A-4-2-5-4-7. So a
- 2:24Speaker 1: guy sent me a text.
- 2:26Speaker 2: Apparently his girlfriend moved in, and the girlfriend gave her
- 2:32Speaker 2: mom a key.
- 2:34Speaker 1: Good morning. What's going on?
- 2:35Speaker 4: Hey, what's up, bro?
- 2:36Speaker 5: Hey, Ruben.
- 2:37Speaker 1: What up, man?
- 2:38Speaker 4: Man, I had the same thing happen to me. But
- 2:40Speaker 4: I was in the shower, and I was getting out
- 2:43Speaker 4: of the shower, and Gina's mom walked in when I
- 2:46Speaker 4: was walking out into my hallway. Like, there's nobody home.
- 2:49Speaker 4: You know what I mean? I could walk out butt naked,
- 2:50Speaker 4: go to my room and change in my room, you know,
- 2:52Speaker 4: get my clothes on. And the whole room, she's like,
- 2:56Speaker 4: I think he knew I was there. If I knew
- 2:57Speaker 4: you were there, you're not. You shouldn't have a key
- 3:00Speaker 4: to my house.
- 3:01Speaker 1: Oh, you didn't know she had a key to the house?
- 3:03Speaker 4: No, no, no. I guess Gina left her key just
- 3:06Speaker 4: in case we ever lost our keys or something. And,
- 3:09Speaker 4: you know, she wanted to come over and pick up,
- 3:10Speaker 4: I guess, something that she had let Gina borrow. But
- 3:13Speaker 4: I'm like, dude, you communicate. Like, if you come into
- 3:15Speaker 4: my house, baby, do you see me butt naked? Then
- 3:19Speaker 4: you owe me money because now I've got to charge
- 3:21Speaker 4: you for that. You know what I mean? She was bad, Roach.
- 3:24Speaker 4: She was like, it's not a joke. It's not a joke.
- 3:27Speaker 4: And I'm like, yeah, you came into my house.
- 3:28Speaker 1: Yeah, exactly.
- 3:29Speaker 2: Exactly.
- 3:30Speaker 1: You know what I mean?
- 3:30Speaker 4: So it was a little argument. But, yeah, no, I
- 3:32Speaker 4: did like you said, Roach. I snatched that key away.
- 3:34Speaker 4: And I said, if you didn't like the view, then
- 3:36Speaker 4: you don't need this key.
- 3:37Speaker 1: Oh, God, get out of here. You know what I mean?
- 3:39Speaker 1: So dumb.
- 3:41Speaker 4: No, I'm keeping it real with you, Ron. I'm telling
- 3:43Speaker 4: you the truth, man. You know what I mean? You
- 3:46Speaker 4: walk into somebody's house without even calling them, that's on you. Like,
- 3:50Speaker 4: that's their home. Yeah, I'm with you.
- 3:53Speaker 2: I'm with you.
- 3:54Speaker 4: But, hey, if there's any issue that she's taking mama's time, boy,
- 3:57Speaker 4: you better start looking at that red flag.
- 3:59Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah.
- 4:01Speaker 1: All right, Ruben. All right, brother.
- 4:02Speaker 2: I mean, he's got to get that key back, first
- 4:05Speaker 2: of all. But they just moved in together.
- 4:07Speaker 1: What did he say? They moved in. They've been together
- 4:10Speaker 1: about a week and.
- 4:11Speaker 2: A half ago. They moved in together. She moved into
- 4:14Speaker 2: his house, and she already gave.
- 4:16Speaker 1: Her mom a key?
- 4:18Speaker 2: All right, man.
- 4:19Speaker 1: I don't know what to tell you, brother. You got
- 4:21Speaker 1: to get rid of all that right now. You got
- 4:26Speaker 1: to get rid of all that right now.
- 4:27Speaker 2: I mean, you got to get that key back. You
- 4:29Speaker 2: got to set your girlfriend straight before things get really
- 4:32Speaker 2: out of hand. What's going to happen next? Her mom's
- 4:34Speaker 2: just going to come over whenever she.
- 4:35Speaker 1: Wants and do. Is the mom single?
- 4:39Speaker 2: That's actually a question they need to ask. Is the
- 4:42Speaker 2: mom single? Because, yeah, that changes the dynamic, by the way,
- 4:47Speaker 2: of the mom having a key and coming over also.
- 4:50Speaker 1: Already 4-2-5-4, 7-7.
- 4:52Speaker 2: So this poor guy's girlfriend moved in with him. about
- 4:56Speaker 2: a week and a half ago, and apparently he was
- 4:59Speaker 2: just sitting there naked watching TV.
- 5:01Speaker 1: Mom just walks in on him. And then the girlfriend
- 5:04Speaker 1: gets mad.
- 5:04Speaker 2: At him for being naked in his house alone.
- 5:09Speaker 1: And the mom's mad. He's the bad guy. Yeah, I
- 5:12Speaker 1: don't get it.
- 5:13Speaker 2: 94254727. Yeah, you might want to deal with that now.
- 5:20Speaker 2: This is crazy. Well, I wouldn't even know how crazy
- 5:23Speaker 2: this really is. It's probably truer than I want to believe.
- 5:26Speaker 2: But a guy says that he's in this situation. He's
- 5:28Speaker 2: been going out with this girl for a couple of
- 5:30Speaker 2: years now. Well, she moved in with him. And I
- 5:32Speaker 2: guess he was sitting at the house. Only moved in
- 5:36Speaker 2: a week and a half ago, by the way. So
- 5:38Speaker 2: she's only been there a week and a half. He's
- 5:41Speaker 2: sitting at the house naked watching TV. Her mom walks in. Apparently,
- 5:46Speaker 2: she gave her mom a key. The mom came over.
- 5:52Speaker 2: Within a week and a half, the mom shows up.
- 5:56Speaker 2: Now he's the bad guy. I guess she thought the
- 5:58Speaker 2: mom was upset about seeing it. She got mad at him.
- 6:01Speaker 2: Now he's the bad guy. Why does the mom have
- 6:05Speaker 2: a key? Gordon, what's going on?
- 6:07Speaker 7: You got to be a different kind of freak to
- 6:10Speaker 7: sit around the house butt naked.
- 6:12Speaker 1: People sit around the house naked.
- 6:13Speaker 2: People walk around their house naked every single day.
- 6:16Speaker 7: I tried, and I feel self-conscious, like maybe the cameras
- 6:20Speaker 7: are on, the TV is watching me.
- 6:22Speaker 4: Maybe the drapes are open.
- 6:24Speaker 8: I can't do it.
- 6:25Speaker 4: I don't know how you guys do it. And poor
- 6:27Speaker 4: Ruben's mother-in-law. That lady's going to be traumatized for life.
- 6:29Speaker 9: You're serious?
- 6:29Speaker 2: Are you just going to, every time you call, you're
- 6:31Speaker 2: going to get dumber and dumber?
- 6:33Speaker 1: We're not even talking about sitting around the house naked.
- 6:35Speaker 2: We're talking about the mom having a key that she
- 6:38Speaker 2: shouldn't have.
- 6:40Speaker 4: But you got to stay ready. If you stay ready,
- 6:41Speaker 4: you ain't got to get ready. I can't.
- 6:43Speaker 1: I can't with this idiot today.
- 6:45Speaker 2: He's called three times within the last hour, and everything
- 6:49Speaker 2: he said has gotten dumber and dumber.
- 6:53Speaker 1: Hey, you have a cheese fan, and my relatives come
- 6:57Speaker 1: with me knowing.
- 6:58Speaker 2: They got a visit on my Glock 19. Let me
- 7:03Speaker 2: know before you go inside my house. Wow, you're going
- 7:05Speaker 2: to shoot your in-laws because they got a key? Wow,
- 7:08Speaker 2: that's a little aggressive. Um, I don't know what this,
- 7:12Speaker 2: what is it? Did everybody, what is everybody doing today?
- 7:15Speaker 1: Seriously?
- 7:16Speaker 2: Everybody woke up in some weird mood and you're just
- 7:18Speaker 2: going to call Romeo and text Romeo dumb stuff.
- 7:24Speaker 4: All right.
- 7:25Speaker 2: Eight, four, two, five, four, seven to seven. Abram, you
- 7:27Speaker 2: want to talk about having a key? I lived in
- 7:31Speaker 2: LA for a few years and I lived in an
- 7:33Speaker 2: apartment building. I gave the neighbor across the hall, my key.
- 7:38Speaker 2: You know, just in case something happened and I needed
- 7:40Speaker 2: to get in or I lost my key. Come to
- 7:42Speaker 2: find out, he would come over and watch TV because
- 7:47Speaker 2: I had cable and he didn't.
- 7:49Speaker 1: Believe me, Rome, I took my key.
- 7:50Speaker 2: Back real quick. Why would anybody have a key to
- 7:54Speaker 2: your place? So a guy sent me this. I thought
- 7:56Speaker 2: it was kind of crazy. He says, hey, Rome, I
- 7:59Speaker 2: just wanted to get your thoughts about the situation that's
- 8:02Speaker 2: happening to.
- 8:03Speaker 1: Me right now.
- 8:03Speaker 2: About a week and a half ago, my girlfriend moved
- 8:06Speaker 2: into my house. which I think is great. We've been
- 8:09Speaker 2: together a little over two years. We're ready to take
- 8:12Speaker 2: that next step. Yesterday, I was sitting at home naked,
- 8:15Speaker 2: watching TV, sitting on the couch. Her mom walked in. Apparently,
- 8:20Speaker 2: she had given her mom a key to our house.
- 8:23Speaker 2: So her mom saw me there, freaked out, called her daughter.
- 8:26Speaker 2: Now my girlfriend is mad at me, saying I shouldn't
- 8:28Speaker 2: have been doing that. Why would she give her mom
- 8:31Speaker 2: a key? Do you think that's okay? And how did
- 8:35Speaker 2: I end up being the bad guy? Well, you ended
- 8:37Speaker 2: up being the bad guy, first of all, because your
- 8:39Speaker 2: girlfriend's unreasonable. And her mom should have, they really should
- 8:45Speaker 2: have just laughed it off. If I'm being serious about it,
- 8:47Speaker 2: they should have just laughed it off and said, oh
- 8:49Speaker 2: my God, you know, knock her.
- 8:50Speaker 1: Good morning, Don. What's going on?
- 8:52Speaker 4: Hey, what's up, Rome?
- 8:55Speaker 1: What up, Ruben?
- 8:56Speaker 4: Honestly, bro, I've never heard a Raider fan talk about,
- 8:59Speaker 4: complain like that.
- 9:00Speaker 2: Oh my God, I'm not going to deal with either
- 9:02Speaker 2: one of you today.
- 9:04Speaker 1: God damn.
- 9:06Speaker 4: Them fools live with their cellmates naked. They ain't 50%
- 9:09Speaker 4: of the time when they're locked up. He's saying he
- 9:12Speaker 4: can't do that.
- 9:12Speaker 1: No, I can't. You guys, no, I can't today. I'm
- 9:15Speaker 1: a little hungover.
- 9:16Speaker 2: I'm not going to have two clowns fighting with each
- 9:18Speaker 2: other today.
- 9:18Speaker 1: I can't do it.
- 9:20Speaker 4: I can't.
- 9:21Speaker 3: I can't.
- 9:22Speaker 1: I can't do it.
- 9:23Speaker 2: I can't go to work, Ruben. I can't deal with
- 9:25Speaker 2: either one of you idiots today.
- 9:27Speaker 1: My God. Stay focused, people. This is ridiculous.
- 9:35Speaker 3: Oh.
- 9:38Speaker 1: All right. Eight, four, two, five, four, seven, seven.
- 9:42Speaker 2: Hey, Rome, let me tell you something serious about that
- 9:45Speaker 2: scenario you just talked about. That guy needs to kick
- 9:48Speaker 2: her out and run. If she's becoming that aggressively possessive
- 9:54Speaker 2: after only moving in for a week and a half,
- 9:57Speaker 2: those are some major red flags. Next thing you know,
- 10:00Speaker 2: the mother's going to be trying to move in with
- 10:02Speaker 2: him and he's going to have both of them living there. Romeo,
- 10:06Speaker 2: there's a bigger issue going on here that he needs
- 10:09Speaker 2: to look at.
- 10:11Speaker 1: Um, Walt, maybe you're right.
- 10:14Speaker 2: Maybe now that she's in the house, she's trying to
- 10:16Speaker 2: control and dictate it. I didn't even think about that.
- 10:19Speaker 2: You might be right about that, as a matter of fact.
- 10:22Speaker 2: It really might be true.
- 10:24Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 10:25Speaker 2: Maybe it is a real red flag. Why did the
- 10:28Speaker 2: mom get a key so quick? Why was the mom
- 10:30Speaker 2: over there immediately? And all of a sudden, it's the
- 10:35Speaker 2: mom and the daughter against him in his house because
- 10:39Speaker 2: he's just doing what he does. I never thought it.
- 10:44Speaker 2: They might be more of a serious issue. I was
- 10:45Speaker 2: just going to, you know, I just thought they should
- 10:47Speaker 2: laugh it off.
- 10:48Speaker 1: Oh my God. I accidentally walked in the house. You
- 10:50Speaker 1: were naked.
- 10:50Speaker 2: Oh my God. You know, it wasn't that serious, but
- 10:55Speaker 2: now that you've pointed that out, you might be right.
- 10:59Speaker 2: You might need to kick her out, bro. She might,
- 11:02Speaker 2: women change when they move in with you. You know
- 11:05Speaker 2: what I'm saying?
- 11:05Speaker 1: Women change.
- 11:06Speaker 2: There's a couple of things. There's a couple of times
- 11:09Speaker 2: in life when women change and Sometimes it's not for
- 11:14Speaker 2: the better.
- 11:15Speaker 1: You know, we've heard this story before.
- 11:18Speaker 2: Once you commit to her and she moves in or
- 11:20Speaker 2: you move in together, she changes. She feels like she
- 11:23Speaker 2: has more control over the relationship and stops doing things
- 11:26Speaker 2: and starts trying to tell you what to do.
- 11:28Speaker 1: We've heard this story before.
- 11:31Speaker 2: Good morning.
- 11:31Speaker 1: What's going on?
- 11:32Speaker 9: Good morning, Romeo.
- 11:33Speaker 4: Hey, what's up?
- 11:35Speaker 9: I just caught a little bit of the end of
- 11:37Speaker 9: what you were saying right now.
- 11:38Speaker 8: So what is the topic, basically?
- 11:40Speaker 2: Oh, some guy said him and his girlfriend have been
- 11:43Speaker 2: together for a couple of years.
- 11:44Speaker 1: And I guess last week she just moved in.
- 11:48Speaker 2: And yesterday he was sitting on his couch naked watching
- 11:51Speaker 2: TV and apparently.
- 11:52Speaker 1: Her mom walked in, had a key to the house,
- 11:55Speaker 1: and she walked in.
- 11:58Speaker 2: And now the girlfriend's mad, the mom's upset, and he's
- 12:02Speaker 2: trying to figure out what's going on. Why does the
- 12:05Speaker 2: mom have a key? Why is he the bad guy?
- 12:08Speaker 2: That's what happens.
- 12:11Speaker 9: First off, no mother should have a key. I only
- 12:15Speaker 9: have one daughter. My daughter literally moved out last week
- 12:18Speaker 9: with her boyfriend. I'm not expecting a key. I ain't
- 12:21Speaker 9: expecting anything. Only thing I told my daughter was that
- 12:25Speaker 9: if you ever want to come back home, my door
- 12:27Speaker 9: is open. Some people need to let their children go.
- 12:30Speaker 4: Let them be adults.
- 12:31Speaker 9: Let your kids live life. Why do you want to
- 12:34Speaker 9: be poor?
- 12:35Speaker 1: You said your door is open, but she better knock first.
- 12:37Speaker 2: She better knock first.
- 12:40Speaker 9: Being for the rude awakening.
- 12:43Speaker 1: Well, you know, I mean, you're a mom with a daughter.
- 12:47Speaker 1: But I bet you know people. I bet you.
- 12:50Speaker 2: Know mothers and daughters that are codependent on each other.
- 12:56Speaker 2: And they just can't let go. I bet you know those.
- 12:58Speaker 2: I have an aunt who was like that with my grandmother.
- 13:01Speaker 2: And it was the strangest thing how codependent they weren't.
- 13:04Speaker 4: Sure.
- 13:04Speaker 2: Sure.
- 13:04Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 13:27Speaker 9: Yeah, I think that's just weird.
- 13:30Speaker 8: Like I said, my daughter's my only daughter.
- 13:32Speaker 9: We have a very close relationship, but I will not
- 13:34Speaker 9: butt into her life.
- 13:36Speaker 1: Well, that's good. You should stay out of it until
- 13:38Speaker 1: she needs you.
- 13:40Speaker 9: Exactly. That's what a lot of people in this world,
- 13:43Speaker 9: probably Bakersfield, need to figure that out. Like, let your
- 13:46Speaker 9: children live life.
- 13:47Speaker 2: In Bakersfield, there's a lot of codependent mothers and daughters
- 13:51Speaker 2: that can't let go.
- 13:52Speaker 4: Oh, yeah, I know that.
- 13:54Speaker 1: And they all dress alike and think they're all 12
- 13:56Speaker 1: or 22.
- 13:56Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 13:59Speaker 9: I'm recently divorced. I'm about to be 46, and I'm
- 14:05Speaker 9: going to dress the way I want to.
- 14:07Speaker 1: All right. All right.
- 14:09Speaker 2: Oh, by the way, do you walk around naked in
- 14:11Speaker 2: your house?
- 14:13Speaker 9: No, because I actually have a younger son who is
- 14:16Speaker 9: autistic who still lives with me.
- 14:17Speaker 1: Oh, okay. If you didn't have any kids, would you
- 14:20Speaker 1: walk around naked in your house?
- 14:21Speaker 9: Hell yeah.
- 14:22Speaker 4: Okay.
- 14:23Speaker 1: I'm not going to walk around naked.
- 14:25Speaker 3: Hell yeah.
- 14:25Speaker 4: Okay, cool.
- 14:26Speaker 1: All right. Thanks for calling.
- 14:27Speaker 2: All right. So this tipping, I guess, has gotten out
- 14:32Speaker 2: of control. You know, now you go to every screen
- 14:35Speaker 2: and really when it hit the, I guess the tipping point,
- 14:39Speaker 2: no pun intended. Some woman was asked to tip at
- 14:42Speaker 2: a self-checkout kiosk at a New York airport convenience mart.
- 14:48Speaker 2: People are starting to get upset about it. You know,
- 14:50Speaker 2: you do it all the time. You go somewhere and
- 14:54Speaker 2: there's already the screen comes up.
- 14:55Speaker 1: Do you want to leave a tip? How do you
- 14:58Speaker 1: guys feel about that?
- 15:00Speaker 2: Are you tipping less? Apparently, Americans are tipping less nowadays.
- 15:04Speaker 2: Already 4-2-5-4, 7-7. Who deserves a tip and who doesn't?
- 15:08Speaker 1: Good morning, Al. What's going on?
- 15:10Speaker 8: Bro, what about when you go through a drive-thru and
- 15:13Speaker 8: they're asking.
- 15:13Speaker 4: You to round your change up?
- 15:16Speaker 3: Why do I want to round.
- 15:17Speaker 1: My change up?
- 15:18Speaker 2: Yeah, that's something odd to me, too. I haven't quite
- 15:21Speaker 2: figured out what that is. I don't know what that is, but...
- 15:26Speaker 2: I don't know where that money goes to, but, yeah,
- 15:28Speaker 2: you're right.
- 15:29Speaker 3: And then also when you go to the restaurant and
- 15:32Speaker 3: they add the tip in and then you tip on
- 15:34Speaker 3: top of that.
- 15:36Speaker 2: Well, I wouldn't tip on top of that, but it's
- 15:41Speaker 2: getting out of hand.
- 15:42Speaker 1: The stories that I'm reading, it is getting out of hand.
- 15:45Speaker 2: I can see how people are getting frustrated with tipping.
- 15:49Speaker 2: Tipping is getting far too difficult and too far out
- 15:53Speaker 2: of hand.
- 15:54Speaker 1: Not everybody deserves a tip. So I agree.
- 15:59Speaker 4: I agree. All right.
- 16:00Speaker 3: All right, man.
- 16:01Speaker 4: Later.
- 16:02Speaker 2: That's why I say when I saw this, when I
- 16:06Speaker 2: saw this story of this woman who was asked to
- 16:08Speaker 2: tip at a self-checkout, why would I tip at a self-checkout?
- 16:12Speaker 1: And who am I giving a tip to?
- 16:15Speaker 2: The machine? Who gets that money? Already 4-2-5-4, 7-7. So
- 16:23Speaker 2: has your attitude changed about tipping? I mean, I was
- 16:25Speaker 2: at a couple of places last night.
- 16:28Speaker 1: I mean, yesterday.
- 16:29Speaker 2: And, you know, I just tipped. I tipped them, but
- 16:35Speaker 2: also I got great service.
- 16:38Speaker 1: So, yeah, I don't know.
- 16:42Speaker 2: When you go to Starbucks and it asks you if
- 16:45Speaker 2: you want to leave a tip, do you? I mean,
- 16:47Speaker 2: they're still working, preparing your coffee. So do you tip them?
- 16:51Speaker 2: All right, so this tipping, I guess, has gotten out
- 16:57Speaker 2: of control. You know, now you go to every screen,
- 17:00Speaker 2: and really when it hit the, I guess, the tipping point,
- 17:04Speaker 2: no pun intended, some woman was asked to tip at
- 17:07Speaker 2: a self-checkout kiosk at a New York airport convenience mart.
- 17:13Speaker 2: People are starting to get upset about it. You know,
- 17:14Speaker 2: you do it all the time. You go somewhere and.
- 17:18Speaker 1: The screen comes up. Do you want to leave a tip?
- 17:23Speaker 1: How do you guys feel about that?
- 17:25Speaker 2: Are you tipping less? Apparently, Americans are tipping less nowadays.
- 17:29Speaker 2: Already 4, 2, 5, 4, 7 to 7. Who deserves
- 17:32Speaker 2: a tip and who doesn't? Good morning, y'all.
- 17:35Speaker 5: What's going on?
- 17:35Speaker 9: Good morning, Romeo.
- 17:36Speaker 1: Hey, what's up?
- 17:39Speaker 5: I believe that tipping should be based on if you've got, like,
- 17:44Speaker 5: superior service. Like, this person went above and beyond, jumping.
- 17:48Speaker 9: Jacks, gave you the phone number.
- 17:50Speaker 3: I mean.
- 17:53Speaker 5: No patience.
- 17:54Speaker 9: Everything.
- 17:56Speaker 5: Honestly, I was at BJ's this weekend, and the gentleman
- 18:00Speaker 5: kept coming around. I mean, he had other tables, but
- 18:02Speaker 5: he kept just constantly coming around and asking if everything.
- 18:06Speaker 9: Was okay, if we needed anything.
- 18:09Speaker 5: I just kind of feel like it's not a sport, but.
- 18:12Speaker 9: To say, like, as.
- 18:14Speaker 5: Far as an example, it's kind of a hustle. Like,
- 18:17Speaker 5: if you want that extra money, you have to.
- 18:21Speaker 3: Hustle for it.
- 18:21Speaker 1: Yeah, I agree with you.
- 18:22Speaker 2: I was at El Portal on Saturday, I think it was.
- 18:26Speaker 1: And the guy was great service. Always there. Beers never
- 18:30Speaker 1: got too low. He was just always on it. What
- 18:33Speaker 1: do you mean? Of course I'll get that for you. So, yeah.
- 18:36Speaker 1: I know exactly what you're saying. I know exactly what
- 18:38Speaker 1: you're saying.
- 18:39Speaker 5: And there's other places where they believe that just because
- 18:42Speaker 5: they showed up once to take your order and said.
- 18:46Speaker 9: I don't know, Joe Schmuck, they're on their break and
- 18:48Speaker 9: they deserve a second.
- 18:50Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 18:50Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 18:51Speaker 3: All right.
- 18:51Speaker 9: And I, in the tip area, I just put thank you.
- 18:54Speaker 3: Okay.
- 18:54Speaker 9: All right.
- 18:55Speaker 3: Perfect.
- 18:55Speaker 8: Thanks for calling.
- 18:56Speaker 1: You have a good day. All right.
- 18:59Speaker 2: Bye. R-D-4-2-5-4-7-7. Like I said, I, and this is interesting.
- 19:02Speaker 2: I got a text because I tipped that Jamba Juice.
- 19:04Speaker 2: I was, I, don't go to Jamba Juice very much,
- 19:07Speaker 2: but I happened to go to a Jamba Juice the
- 19:09Speaker 2: other day and I thought, you know what, I want one.
- 19:11Speaker 2: But there was a screen. After you try to pay,
- 19:14Speaker 2: the screen says, would you like to leave a tip?
- 19:16Speaker 2: And I left something. But because I thought, yeah, they
- 19:21Speaker 2: are making my drink. But this is why I brought
- 19:25Speaker 2: that up because somebody texted me, Romeo, you said you
- 19:27Speaker 2: were at Jamba Juice and you left the tip. You
- 19:30Speaker 2: said you gave it to them because they were making
- 19:33Speaker 2: a drink.
- 19:34Speaker 1: That's their job, Rome.
- 19:36Speaker 2: At what point do we say you're getting paid versus
- 19:42Speaker 2: I'm giving you a tip for extra service?
- 19:45Speaker 1: That's a great point.
- 19:47Speaker 2: At what point is it your job versus you're going
- 19:51Speaker 2: above and beyond and I need to give you a
- 19:53Speaker 2: little extra? Because I guess you're kind of right. At
- 19:59Speaker 2: Jamba Juice, their job is to make the Jamba Juice.
- 20:02Speaker 2: So they're getting paid for that.
- 20:04Speaker 4: Where.
- 20:06Speaker 2: Why do I give them a tip? What would be
- 20:08Speaker 2: the reason for me to give them extra? I guess
- 20:11Speaker 2: you're right.
- 20:12Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't know.
- 20:13Speaker 2: It's getting way confusing now. That's why tips are down.
- 20:17Speaker 2: People are getting frustrated. They don't want to tip as
- 20:19Speaker 2: much anymore because everybody wants one. And now with these
- 20:23Speaker 2: screens now that give you a pre, whatever, pre-tip or
- 20:27Speaker 2: whatever the, you know, they figure it out for you.
- 20:31Speaker 1: That's making it even worse. Tipping is getting out of hand, right?
- 20:34Speaker 2: People are getting up frustrated with all these people wanting
- 20:38Speaker 2: to tip.
- 20:39Speaker 1: Do they deserve it, you know? And tipping is down.
- 20:43Speaker 2: By the way, I guess people are getting so frustrated
- 20:44Speaker 2: they've stopped tipping as much. All right, good morning, y'all.
- 20:46Speaker 1: What's going on? What's going on, my friend?
- 20:52Speaker 3: Hey, man, you're absolutely right, man.
- 20:54Speaker 4: It's getting out of control, man.
- 20:56Speaker 2: I wish they gave me.
- 20:58Speaker 5: A tip when they come through the drive-thru, man.
- 21:01Speaker 1: I was going to say, you don't ask. You don't love, man.
- 21:05Speaker 4: I give great answers, man.
- 21:07Speaker 1: You don't have a tip jar.
- 21:10Speaker 7: Man, I can't believe it's a free taco, man.
- 21:13Speaker 1: I'm telling you, man.
- 21:15Speaker 7: Hey, man, I was at a restaurant this Thursday night, man.
- 21:21Speaker 9: I didn't have no good service.
- 21:22Speaker 4: Took them, like, 20 minutes to bring us water. Wow.
- 21:28Speaker 4: Just while we're waiting.
- 21:30Speaker 1: Did you give them a tip?
- 21:32Speaker 4: Yeah, man.
- 21:33Speaker 7: Only because, man, my girl, she says it's embarrassing.
- 21:37Speaker 3: If you don't.
- 21:38Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah. You're right. You're right.
- 21:40Speaker 3: You know, that actually kind of turned into an argument
- 21:43Speaker 3: because I was like, you.
- 21:44Speaker 4: Know, this ain't even cool. We was already going to leave.
- 21:48Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 21:48Speaker 4: They were taking so long just to... She doesn't say hi.
- 21:51Speaker 2: Gotcha.
- 21:52Speaker 1: Gotcha. Yeah, it's tough. That's a tough deal, man. That's
- 21:56Speaker 1: a tough deal.
- 21:58Speaker 2: That's a tough conversation to have because you don't want
- 22:00Speaker 2: to look, you don't want to look bad, but yet
- 22:03Speaker 2: you got to prove a point.
- 22:04Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 22:05Speaker 4: You know, it's just, you know, and you see the
- 22:07Speaker 4: people walking by you left and right.
- 22:09Speaker 7: They don't even tell you nothing.
- 22:13Speaker 4: All right, man. All right.
- 22:15Speaker 1: Hey man, we have a girl. That's what I'm saying, right? Where,
- 22:19Speaker 1: where do you draw the line?
- 22:20Speaker 2: I mean, I.
- 22:23Speaker 1: Don't know.
- 22:25Speaker 2: Most of the places I go, Um, actually all the
- 22:28Speaker 2: places I go, I know all the servers, the bartenders,
- 22:31Speaker 2: so I'm cool with them. So I don't, I do
- 22:33Speaker 2: want to tip them cause they give me great service. Yeah.
- 22:37Speaker 2: I don't know. Alrighty.
- 22:38Speaker 1: Four, two, five, four, seven to seven. Who deserves a tip?
- 22:41Speaker 1: Who does it?
- 22:41Speaker 4: Rome.
- 22:42Speaker 1: This is Seahawk Lou.
- 22:43Speaker 2: I only tip someone when I give them cash and
- 22:45Speaker 2: in person because you tip electronically, they end up taxing
- 22:49Speaker 2: that money before you even receive it. So only tip
- 22:52Speaker 2: cash directly to the person who helped That's my suggestion.
- 22:57Speaker 4: Okay.
- 22:58Speaker 2: I would agree with that. I only tip cash also.
- 23:00Speaker 2: I don't do the electronic stuff. Hey, Romeo, I was
- 23:03Speaker 2: at a Walmart, and the lady asked me if I
- 23:05Speaker 2: wanted to round up my change for a donation. I
- 23:07Speaker 2: asked for what, and she said, never mind.
- 23:11Speaker 1: That was weird. It is weird.
- 23:13Speaker 2: I have heard of people saying, do you want to
- 23:16Speaker 2: round up your change? Yes.
- 23:18Speaker 1: I have heard of that. for a, uh, cause. Okay.
- 23:23Speaker 2: But now I've, I've had people ask me for no reason.
- 23:26Speaker 2: I'm like, why would I want to do that? No.
- 23:28Speaker 2: How about you round down my change? That's what you
- 23:31Speaker 2: need to say.
- 23:31Speaker 1: All right.
- 23:32Speaker 4: Good morning.
- 23:33Speaker 1: What's going on?
- 23:35Speaker 4: What's up, Romeo? What's up, Rob? What's up, dog? Hey,
- 23:39Speaker 4: I noticed a couple places I've been going to lately. Uh,
- 23:42Speaker 4: they automatically, uh, put it on your tab if you
- 23:45Speaker 4: use a credit card. So lately I've been, I've been
- 23:47Speaker 4: using just cash, you know, in certain places, but, uh,
- 23:50Speaker 4: They'll still come up to you and ask you, hey,
- 23:53Speaker 4: you know, sit there and wait. And I'm like, I
- 23:55Speaker 4: don't say nothing because I don't get embarrassed. I just,
- 23:58Speaker 4: you know, tip the guy who cooks my food and
- 24:00Speaker 4: that's it.
- 24:00Speaker 7: And I walk out, you know.
- 24:01Speaker 2: But are you getting, when you're talking about the credit card,
- 24:04Speaker 2: you sure it's not a service charge for the credit card?
- 24:07Speaker 4: No, that's normal. I noticed that one. That's like two-something,
- 24:12Speaker 4: but it says 50%, 25%, 30%. And I'm like, man,
- 24:15Speaker 4: that's ridiculous.
- 24:15Speaker 1: Because I go to.
- 24:17Speaker 2: A place where when they send me the check, it
- 24:20Speaker 2: tells me if you pay with cash, it'll be this much.
- 24:23Speaker 2: If you pay with credit card, it'll be this much.
- 24:26Speaker 2: They give you the option. That's different?
- 24:30Speaker 4: Yeah, no, I understand that one.
- 24:32Speaker 1: Okay, okay.
- 24:32Speaker 4: My bank charge is like $ 250, I think.
- 24:34Speaker 1: Okay, okay.
- 24:36Speaker 4: But, yeah, I mean, they calculated it and everything. I'm like, whoa,
- 24:39Speaker 4: what happened? It's just me. And they were like, oh, well,
- 24:41Speaker 4: it's our chip charge. And I'm like, okay. So I go, well,
- 24:44Speaker 4: I got cash. My bill is only 18, so here's
- 24:46Speaker 4: the 20.
- 24:48Speaker 1: You got him.
- 24:49Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 24:49Speaker 4: Got him. I'm telling you, brother.
- 24:51Speaker 2: All right.
- 24:52Speaker 1: Take your collar off later. Leave it to a Raider fan.
- 24:56Speaker 1: Leave it to a Raider fan.
- 24:58Speaker 2: RD-4254-77, but it's getting very, very confusing. Who deserves a
- 25:04Speaker 2: tip today and who doesn't? who some of these people
- 25:08Speaker 2: want a tip for just doing their jobs and not
- 25:12Speaker 2: a tip is for above and beyond service. I'm ready
- 25:16Speaker 2: for two, five, four, seven, seven. When it comes to tipping,
- 25:19Speaker 2: apparently America is getting tired of it. It's getting out
- 25:22Speaker 2: of control. They put these screens now on everything. Whenever
- 25:26Speaker 2: you use a credit card that said, do you want
- 25:28Speaker 2: to leave a tip? And it's just ridiculous. At what
- 25:31Speaker 2: point are you going above and beyond the, to which
- 25:35Speaker 2: you deserve a tip, and at what point are you
- 25:36Speaker 2: just doing your job? And why are you asking for
- 25:39Speaker 2: a tip? It's gotten out of hand. And America's responding.
- 25:43Speaker 2: Apparently tips are down for people. And they're down for
- 25:47Speaker 2: the people that actually deserve them because all of these
- 25:49Speaker 2: other people are ruining it for them. Like a self-checkout.
- 25:55Speaker 2: Why am I tipping at a self-checkout? Why am I
- 25:57Speaker 2: tipping at a drive-thru car wash? Why am I, you know... Arno,
- 26:01Speaker 2: why are you asking me? already four, two, five, four, seven,
- 26:05Speaker 2: a seven.
- 26:06Speaker 1: Hey Rome. Let's see here. Hey Rome.
- 26:08Speaker 2: I went to San Diego this weekend and ate at
- 26:10Speaker 2: a really nice restaurant. When I got the bill, there
- 26:12Speaker 2: was a 6% surcharge that goes to the full-time employees.
- 26:16Speaker 2: Healthcare said that they could, they said that you could
- 26:20Speaker 2: ask for it to be removed, but I didn't, I
- 26:23Speaker 2: want to look, uh, I didn't want to look like
- 26:25Speaker 2: an a, you know what? It's getting ridiculous. Well, I mean,
- 26:30Speaker 2: If they ask you or give you an option, I
- 26:33Speaker 2: get it. The problem is they're trying to sneak it
- 26:34Speaker 2: by you. They didn't try to sneak that by you, right?
- 26:38Speaker 2: They asked if you wanted it removed.
- 26:41Speaker 1: All right, 8-4-2-5-4, 7-7. Good morning, how's it going?
- 26:43Speaker 3: Hi, good morning.
- 26:45Speaker 1: Hey, what's up?
- 26:47Speaker 6: Hi, I'm calling about the whole tipping.
- 26:49Speaker 4: Culture getting offhand.
- 26:51Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 26:52Speaker 4: So I am a.
- 26:53Speaker 6: Bartender here at Casa Tequila for the club.
- 26:56Speaker 2: Okay.
- 26:56Speaker 6: And I've also been a server at Denny's and stuff, so.
- 27:00Speaker 4: You are completely right. And it's just, even going and going.
- 27:04Speaker 6: And getting a car wash, like last time, that's the
- 27:07Speaker 6: first time I ever noticed it when I went to
- 27:08Speaker 6: the cruise tube.
- 27:10Speaker 4: Well, now it's called Mr.
- 27:11Speaker 6: I think. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. That was the first
- 27:14Speaker 6: time I've ever.
- 27:15Speaker 2: Ever noticed.
- 27:16Speaker 1: Yeah, that's another one.
- 27:18Speaker 6: I'm like, wait, you're not even washing my car. Like,
- 27:21Speaker 6: what's going on here?
- 27:24Speaker 1: You're exact. That's another one. That's another. You're right. Yeah,
- 27:28Speaker 1: it's getting way out of hand.
- 27:30Speaker 2: So people have actually, society has started tipping everybody less now.
- 27:35Speaker 6: Yeah, and so, like, even, like I said, even as
- 27:37Speaker 6: a server, like, honestly, I don't feel embarrassed at all
- 27:40Speaker 6: because there's been times when, like, I had to, like,
- 27:43Speaker 6: serve parties, like, 20-something people at a time, and they've
- 27:47Speaker 6: only left, like, a dollar three.
- 27:49Speaker 2: Oh, gosh. Or sometimes nothing.
- 27:50Speaker 4: Nice.
- 27:51Speaker 3: And, like, you know.
- 27:52Speaker 6: I'm like, it's okay. Sometimes I don't feel personal.
- 27:54Speaker 4: I'm like, I'm getting paid to do this.
- 27:55Speaker 6: I'm just getting paid to be a server. But at
- 27:58Speaker 6: the same time, like I said, it's just getting way
- 28:00Speaker 6: out of hand. Like Starbucks, I'm like, even when you
- 28:04Speaker 6: go to the yogurt place, like, you know, you're leaving
- 28:06Speaker 6: a tip. You're like, okay, then aren't you getting paid
- 28:10Speaker 6: to do this? And sometimes they get paid and they
- 28:12Speaker 6: don't even do their job right.
- 28:13Speaker 7: I'm like, okay, well.
- 28:14Speaker 4: All right.
- 28:14Speaker 1: Well, thanks for calling. I appreciate it. Have a good one.
- 28:16Speaker 4: All right. Yeah.
- 28:18Speaker 1: She's right.
- 28:18Speaker 2: At what point are you just doing your job? You
- 28:21Speaker 2: want credit for just doing your job or extra credit
- 28:24Speaker 2: for just doing your job.
- 28:25Speaker 1: And she's right about that. R2425477. Hey, Rome.
- 28:31Speaker 2: I went to a Subway the other day and they
- 28:34Speaker 2: asked me for a tip and I didn't press anything.
- 28:35Speaker 2: So it automatically added like three bucks. So now I
- 28:38Speaker 2: always look for the no tip box.
- 28:39Speaker 4: Oh, wow.
- 28:40Speaker 1: That's crazy.
- 28:41Speaker 4: All right.
- 28:42Speaker 1: So let's talk about tipping. Tipping has gotten way out
- 28:46Speaker 1: of hand, right?
- 28:47Speaker 2: They ask you to tip at the coffee shop. The
- 28:50Speaker 2: screen comes up. Do you want to leave a tip?
- 28:52Speaker 2: They ask you to tip at, you know, the car wash.
- 28:55Speaker 2: You just, why would I tip you guys for doing
- 28:58Speaker 2: your job? But tipping is supposed to go above and beyond, okay?
- 29:04Speaker 2: Like the bartender. Fortunately for me, I go to places that,
- 29:12Speaker 2: I frequent the same places, so I know the bartender's.
- 29:17Speaker 2: So I have no problem tipping them because they give
- 29:21Speaker 2: me great service. But you tip a bartender to come back.
- 29:27Speaker 2: You don't tip a bartender because, you know, they make
- 29:29Speaker 2: you a drink. You tip them to come back and
- 29:34Speaker 2: to never let you go dry. Okay, that's why you
- 29:38Speaker 2: tip a bartender. A server, you tip them because they
- 29:43Speaker 2: check on you. They make sure you got your food right.
- 29:46Speaker 2: They make sure everything's going good. They come back to say, hey, is.
- 29:50Speaker 1: The food good? We good? Do you need anything? You
- 29:52Speaker 1: need more water? You need more? That's why you.
- 29:54Speaker 2: Give them a little extra. Because they get paid to
- 29:57Speaker 2: bring you your food, okay? And let's be fair about it.
- 30:02Speaker 2: For the most part, servers get paid to bring you
- 30:05Speaker 2: your food. Take your order, bring you your food. They
- 30:08Speaker 2: can go above and beyond and treat you better in
- 30:11Speaker 2: which they deserve a tip. But now they want you
- 30:15Speaker 2: to tip at self-checkouts. They want you to tip when
- 30:20Speaker 2: you're doing all the work.
- 30:22Speaker 1: And who's the tip going to?
- 30:25Speaker 2: All righty, 425477, would you text me here? Rome, not
- 30:31Speaker 2: service injury deserves to ask for tips. They don't all
- 30:37Speaker 2: get a base pay below minimum wage. Oh, not all
- 30:39Speaker 2: service industries.
- 30:40Speaker 1: Okay.
- 30:43Speaker 2: Hey, Rome, I tip at a sit-down restaurant and bars,
- 30:46Speaker 2: but places like a self-checkout, no, no, no. But that's
- 30:49Speaker 2: what I'm saying. If I go into your sandwich shop
- 30:53Speaker 2: and I order a sandwich.
- 30:55Speaker 2: Why do you ask me for a tip on the screen?
- 30:59Speaker 2: Your job is to make that sandwich, okay? You get
- 31:02Speaker 2: paid to make that sandwich. You're not going above and
- 31:05Speaker 2: beyond your job. And that's just one example. When I
- 31:09Speaker 2: go to the car wash, do you want a tip?
- 31:11Speaker 1: Well, why?
- 31:13Speaker 2: You're not washing my car. When I go to the
- 31:15Speaker 2: car wash where they dry it and clean everything, yeah,
- 31:19Speaker 2: I tip those guys or girls or whoever's working. I
- 31:23Speaker 2: tip them. because that's above and beyond. All right, 8-4-2-5-4, 7-7.
- 31:30Speaker 2: But tipping is getting out of hand, and society's starting
- 31:32Speaker 2: to tip less nowadays because of it. All right, so
- 31:35Speaker 2: tipping is down, apparently, across America. People are getting fed
- 31:37Speaker 2: up with all this, you know, everybody wanting to tip.
- 31:43Speaker 1: Let's see here. What did you text me? 8-4-2-5-4, 7-7.
- 31:50Speaker 1: What did you say?
- 31:51Speaker 2: Not only that, Romeo, people are tipping less because... Everything
- 31:54Speaker 2: has gotten so much more expensive.
- 31:59Speaker 1: Okay, maybe, maybe.
- 32:02Speaker 2: All righty, 4254-727. Yo, Rome, the only time I tip
- 32:07Speaker 2: is when it's a waitress.
- 32:08Speaker 1: Okay, nice. Hey, Rome, went to.
- 32:12Speaker 2: Dinner this weekend with my boyfriend and his brother and
- 32:15Speaker 2: one other couple. My boyfriend picked up the tab for me.
- 32:18Speaker 2: Him and his brother. I ordered something off the menu
- 32:22Speaker 2: that was presented as one of the daily specials, not
- 32:24Speaker 2: realizing until we got the bill that.
- 32:27Speaker 1: The special was $ 110.
- 32:28Speaker 2: The tab for the three of us was $ 275. I
- 32:32Speaker 2: left a $ 50 tip. Not sure what the other couple's
- 32:36Speaker 2: bill was or their tip, but this waiter made a
- 32:42Speaker 2: good amount of money off my table of five for
- 32:46Speaker 2: an hour of service. now that I think about it, well,
- 32:49Speaker 2: was it good service? I mean, that's the thing. Was
- 32:52Speaker 2: it good service? I think, um, yeah, it was a
- 32:58Speaker 2: good service. Hey, Rome, I don't tip when the people
- 33:02Speaker 2: that I don't tip when they don't deserve it.
- 33:05Speaker 1: Cause I look at it like this.
- 33:08Speaker 2: Shouldn't, uh, shouldn't it cancel out the tip I should
- 33:11Speaker 2: give a person or the tip I should give them
- 33:14Speaker 2: wouldn't they have to give it as a tip to
- 33:18Speaker 2: someone else when they purchase something? And I'm just talking
- 33:22Speaker 2: about those BS tablet workers.
- 33:25Speaker 1: Oh, tablet workers.
- 33:26Speaker 4: Yeah. I don't know.
- 33:29Speaker 1: I don't know. And what's up, Rome?
- 33:32Speaker 2: You know, tipping in restaurants, I get. Shoot, I even
- 33:36Speaker 2: tip 15% when I get crappy service, when I hit
- 33:38Speaker 2: up Starbucks in the morning for some egg white bites
- 33:41Speaker 2: and that tipping screen pops up kind of frustrating, to
- 33:44Speaker 2: be honest. And that's one of the things, that's where
- 33:47Speaker 2: this is all stemming from. People are getting tired of,
- 33:52Speaker 2: you know, the tip jar or the screen that pops up.
- 33:56Speaker 2: I mean, why are you asking for a tip when
- 34:00Speaker 2: I don't really think you deserve one in certain situations?
- 34:04Speaker 2: Why am I tipping the drive-thru car wash? You know,
- 34:07Speaker 2: why am I, why? Why am I tipping the, you know,
- 34:11Speaker 2: The person making my smoothie.
- 34:13Speaker 6: What?
- 34:13Speaker 1: I don't understand this.
- 34:15Speaker 2: If that's the case, why am I not tipping the
- 34:17Speaker 2: lady who checks me out at the grocery store?
- 34:22Speaker 1: R-D-4-2-5-4-7-7.
- 34:23Speaker 2: And Romeo, it sucks because you don't want to look
- 34:27Speaker 2: like an a-hole. But damn, even Subway burger joints are
- 34:31Speaker 2: all asking for tips on the pin pad machine.
- 34:35Speaker 1: Or they have a cup like a homeless person.
- 34:38Speaker 2: Yeah. See, and that's the thing. People are getting fed
- 34:42Speaker 2: up with it. So people are, the bad part is
- 34:44Speaker 2: people are getting fed up with it in America. So
- 34:47Speaker 2: not only are they not tipping with the pin pads,
- 34:50Speaker 2: they're not tipping the service industry as well anymore. They're
- 34:54Speaker 2: taking it out on the people that kind of really
- 34:56Speaker 2: do deserve a tip. Yeah, like bartenders, service industry, you know, waiters, waitresses.
- 35:05Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 35:06Speaker 1: You guys decide. It's Romeo. Good morning, Hal. What's going on?
- 35:09Speaker 7: Yeah, those people are idiots.
- 35:11Speaker 4: Yeah, I don't believe in that.
- 35:13Speaker 1: You know, service is a must, and I believe tipping is.
- 35:16Speaker 7: A must when you are receiving the service, but.
- 35:25Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, you tip people based on the service they.
- 35:32Speaker 1: Provide for you.
- 35:34Speaker 2: I gave my, whatchamacallit, a bottle of wine the other
- 35:36Speaker 2: day to my mail lady just because she's so above
- 35:40Speaker 2: and beyond. If she sees you standing in your yard,
- 35:42Speaker 2: she'll walk your mail to you.
- 35:44Speaker 4: My trash guy, if he sees my trash can and
- 35:48Speaker 4: I forget... you know, he'll get off and get it. Yeah.
- 35:52Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 35:53Speaker 4: Uh, my son, every time he's home, like come on vacation,
- 35:56Speaker 4: he goes out and gives them a pop or water chip.
- 35:59Speaker 1: Exactly.
- 35:59Speaker 7: You know, butter them up a little bit, but, uh,
- 36:02Speaker 7: all right, man.
- 36:03Speaker 1: Thanks for calling. All right.
- 36:06Speaker 4: All right.
- 36:07Speaker 2: Four, two, five, four, seven to seven. What did you
- 36:11Speaker 2: send me? Let me get back to your text messages here. Um, Hey, Roman,
- 36:17Speaker 2: I'm glad this topic came up.
- 36:18Speaker 1: I agree with it.
- 36:20Speaker 2: I agree with sit-down restaurants, bartenders, beauty services, etc. I
- 36:23Speaker 2: think it's so crazy that Starbucks and other pickup order
- 36:27Speaker 2: places now ask for tips. Now I don't feel bad
- 36:30Speaker 2: for thinking for what?
- 36:32Speaker 1: Well, yeah, for what? You get paid to do that job.
- 36:36Speaker 2: I mean, and the service industry, I mean, even tipping's
- 36:39Speaker 2: gone down for bartenders, I mean, barbers and beauticians. And
- 36:45Speaker 2: You know that I used to tip– this is going
- 36:47Speaker 2: to sound so stupid. But my bartender now– I mean
- 36:52Speaker 2: my bartender. My barber now is a family member, and
- 36:57Speaker 2: I love him.
- 36:58Speaker 1: Great guy.
- 36:59Speaker 2: We talk about stuff, and so I tip him. But
- 37:01Speaker 2: I tip him because I– you know, he has a
- 37:05Speaker 2: family to take care of, and I like him. Um,
- 37:09Speaker 2: and he always gets me in whenever.
- 37:11Speaker 1: I need a haircut. Cause I'm not one. I'm not
- 37:13Speaker 1: like you guys.
- 37:14Speaker 2: I don't get my haircut every other day or every
- 37:15Speaker 2: other week or whatever. I just randomly decide I want
- 37:18Speaker 2: a haircut. It gets me in immediately. Um, but I
- 37:22Speaker 2: used to tip this lady before I had, I, I
- 37:27Speaker 2: think we've talked about haircuts before. I used to have
- 37:30Speaker 2: this girl that cut my hair. She was the best.
- 37:32Speaker 2: She was a friend of mine's girlfriend at the time.
- 37:33Speaker 1: She was the best. And then she decided to go
- 37:36Speaker 1: change careers.
- 37:37Speaker 2: So there was a period of time where I'd have
- 37:39Speaker 2: to just go to a place, go to a place,
- 37:41Speaker 2: go get whoever would cut it, right? And I found
- 37:46Speaker 2: this lady who I would tip her only because she
- 37:50Speaker 2: wouldn't talk to me.
- 37:52Speaker 1: I do not like to talk.
- 37:53Speaker 2: To people I don't know when I'm sitting in the
- 37:57Speaker 2: barber chair. I don't want to have small talk. You
- 37:59Speaker 2: don't have to feel bad by not doing it. I'm
- 38:03Speaker 2: good to just sit there, you cut my hair, and
- 38:05Speaker 2: I'll leave. And she would not talk to me. So
- 38:09Speaker 2: I gave her a tip for not talking to me.
- 38:11Speaker 1: Good morning, Hal. What's going on?
- 38:12Speaker 7: Romeo, I think that tipping should remain strictly for waiters
- 38:18Speaker 7: and waitresses.
- 38:20Speaker 1: Waiters and waitresses.
- 38:22Speaker 8: I think that's what it was originally meant for.
- 38:27Speaker 1: What about the valet guy?
- 38:29Speaker 8: The valet guy, he's getting paid already to be a valet.
- 38:33Speaker 1: No, a lot of those valet guys work on tips.
- 38:37Speaker 8: Well, I would have to look into that because waiters
- 38:40Speaker 8: and waitresses used to get paid little and to show
- 38:43Speaker 8: gratitude for them bringing you water or filling up this
- 38:47Speaker 8: or that, you would tip them. But I do not
- 38:50Speaker 8: tip people at Starbucks. I do not tip people.
- 38:52Speaker 7: That are already getting paid to do their job.
- 38:54Speaker 4: That's just crazy.
- 38:56Speaker 6: What?
- 38:58Speaker 4: And, you know, I also hate.
- 39:00Speaker 7: When they hit you with that convenience fee.
- 39:02Speaker 1: What the hell is a convenience fee?
- 39:05Speaker 8: You've never been to a concert, and you pay for
- 39:07Speaker 8: your tickets, you pay for your parking, and then it
- 39:09Speaker 8: says a convenience fee of like $ 45, $ 55.
- 39:12Speaker 1: Oh, no, I've never seen that.
- 39:14Speaker 2: I don't go to a lot of concerts, though.
- 39:16Speaker 4: Yeah, it's crazy.
- 39:17Speaker 7: So Raider Dave says, only tip waiters and waitresses. The
- 39:22Speaker 7: only time I make an exception is for strippers.
- 39:24Speaker 1: What about a bartender?
- 39:26Speaker 4: A bartender, that's his job. You know what? A bartender, yes.
- 39:30Speaker 4: Because a bartender falls into a waiter. He's waiting on me.
- 39:33Speaker 9: Okay.
- 39:34Speaker 4: So, yeah. Make sure you tip them. Everybody else, they're
- 39:37Speaker 4: just doing their job. They're already getting paid.
- 39:39Speaker 2: All right.
- 39:40Speaker 4: All right.
- 39:41Speaker 2: Later. I will say this, and I am not a
- 39:44Speaker 2: huge fan of, as Raider Dave said, I'm more traditional
- 39:48Speaker 2: of tipping, you know, who you traditionally tip, like you said.
- 39:51Speaker 1: I will tell you this, though. I was at, where
- 39:54Speaker 1: was I?
- 39:55Speaker 2: Last Friday, I was at the Greek Theater, and I
- 39:57Speaker 2: had a box, so I had my own waiter. I
- 40:02Speaker 2: had a box seat, so I had my own waiter.
- 40:04Speaker 2: And when the bill came, he said, okay, he goes, here,
- 40:10Speaker 2: you can either You can either press one of the
- 40:13Speaker 2: predetermined tips or you can give a custom tip or
- 40:16Speaker 2: you can just skip it.
- 40:16Speaker 1: You don't have to tip me at all.
- 40:18Speaker 2: And when he said all of that and said, you
- 40:23Speaker 2: don't have to tip me at all.
- 40:24Speaker 1: You can just skip it if you'd like. I thought,
- 40:27Speaker 1: you know what? All right. And I gave him a man.
- 40:29Speaker 2: Maybe it was maybe he's played me a little bit.
- 40:32Speaker 2: But I thought once he told me I did not
- 40:34Speaker 2: have to tip him, I tipped him a little.
- 40:36Speaker 1: Extra just because, you know what?
- 40:37Speaker 2: Do you guys feel because because Raider Dave's kind of right.
- 40:41Speaker 2: just because you work at Starbucks and you feel obligated
- 40:45Speaker 2: for a tip, why, for what reason do I, should
- 40:49Speaker 2: I give you a tip? How did you go above
- 40:51Speaker 2: and beyond for me, uh, to make my experience better
- 40:56Speaker 2: driving through the Starbucks line, you know? So yeah, that's
- 41:01Speaker 2: how you got to look at tipping. You know, how
- 41:02Speaker 2: did somebody go above and beyond? I was, uh, And
- 41:07Speaker 2: I'll tell you the other thing.
- 41:09Speaker 1: That happened when I was at the Greek theater.
- 41:11Speaker 2: For those of you that have been to the Greek theater,
- 41:13Speaker 2: the parking's awful.
- 41:15Speaker 1: Okay. They put you, they stack you up. They put
- 41:17Speaker 1: you in all these places.
- 41:18Speaker 2: Well, when I got there and I was in my pickup,
- 41:22Speaker 2: a guy parks me literally in the one spot. Actually,
- 41:27Speaker 2: there were two spots, but one was already taken. Has
- 41:30Speaker 2: me back into this one spot where no cars are
- 41:33Speaker 2: in front of me. No cars are behind me. One
- 41:35Speaker 2: pickup truck is next to me. And I think it
- 41:37Speaker 2: was his. And I could get right out. No congestion
- 41:43Speaker 2: for me. So I tipped him because I knew what
- 41:45Speaker 2: he did. So I gave him a 10 spot just for,
- 41:47Speaker 2: you know, parking me there. So when people go above
- 41:52Speaker 2: and beyond, I think it's okay to tip, but not
- 41:56Speaker 2: just for anything.
- 41:57Speaker 1: Here comes the tipping, right? Who do you tip? What
- 42:00Speaker 1: big boy? Big boy sent me.
- 42:02Speaker 2: You know, it's funny that big boy has an opinion
- 42:04Speaker 2: on tipping because big boy tips everybody.
- 42:07Speaker 1: He don't mess around.
- 42:08Speaker 2: Hey, Rome, how about the pizza guy, delivery guy? Yeah,
- 42:10Speaker 2: you got to tip that guy. Yeah, I would tip
- 42:14Speaker 2: the pizza delivery guy. I probably wouldn't tip the Grubhub
- 42:17Speaker 2: guy or the grocery delivery guy, though, because those are
- 42:19Speaker 2: made-up jobs.
- 42:20Speaker 1: You can go get your own food.
- 42:22Speaker 2: Pizza and Billy's are the only two places that I
- 42:26Speaker 2: let deliver. What's going on?
- 42:30Speaker 4: Hey, what's up, Rome?
- 42:31Speaker 1: Hey, what up, Ruben?
- 42:32Speaker 4: Hey, Rome, the other day, like about a week ago,
- 42:34Speaker 4: not about two weeks ago, I went to that Mr.
- 42:36Speaker 4: Car Wash right here in Rosedale.
- 42:37Speaker 2: Okay.
- 42:39Speaker 4: So I went through there, washed the car, and I'm
- 42:41Speaker 4: over there, you know, vacuuming it. And the guy that's
- 42:43Speaker 4: sweeping the parking lot, he's picking up stuff. He was,
- 42:46Speaker 4: you know, kind of mumbling, and he was like, dude,
- 42:47Speaker 4: I don't like this job. Nobody ever tips us. He
- 42:50Speaker 4: was telling me, I said, bro, grab a towel, start
- 42:52Speaker 4: driving the truck, and do a little extra. I'll hook
- 42:54Speaker 4: you up. And he's like, that's not my job. I said, well,
- 42:57Speaker 4: that's why you don't get a tip because you ain't
- 42:59Speaker 4: doing nothing extra. You know what I mean, Rome? I
- 43:02Speaker 4: don't know if I'm a different breed, but you earn
- 43:05Speaker 4: your tip with me. I don't care if you're a server,
- 43:07Speaker 4: who you are. You take care of me, I'm going
- 43:09Speaker 4: to take care of you.
- 43:10Speaker 1: I think that's a good idea.
- 43:11Speaker 2: I think you could tip anybody that goes above and
- 43:13Speaker 2: beyond for you in whatever capacity. I think it's worth
- 43:17Speaker 2: giving them a little something for helping you out.
- 43:18Speaker 1: I agree with that.
- 43:19Speaker 4: That makes a lot of sense. Like my trash man, Rome.
- 43:22Speaker 4: If I tell him I'm going to be out of town,
- 43:23Speaker 4: he'll get off his truck and he'll push my trash
- 43:26Speaker 4: can all the way up to the gate.
- 43:28Speaker 1: Oh, yeah, that's fair, yeah.
- 43:29Speaker 4: So it just doesn't sit out in the street, you
- 43:30Speaker 4: know what I mean? Absolutely. And I was like, who
- 43:33Speaker 4: moved my trash can the first time it happened? And
- 43:36Speaker 4: he goes, oh, dude, he didn't. And I saw it,
- 43:37Speaker 4: and I talked to him. I gave him a soda
- 43:38Speaker 4: and stuff, and I told him, you know, thank you.
- 43:41Speaker 4: And he was like, oh, well, you told me you
- 43:42Speaker 4: guys were going to be heading out of town. So
- 43:43Speaker 4: I figured, you know what, on the way back when
- 43:45Speaker 4: I dump it, I'll just roll it in.
- 43:47Speaker 2: Can I say this, by the way, just on that
- 43:50Speaker 2: one note? You guys are so stupid who don't do that.
- 43:55Speaker 2: I see people do that all the time. I have
- 43:57Speaker 2: neighbors that do that. And they don't think anything of
- 44:00Speaker 2: it about going out of town or on whatever day
- 44:03Speaker 2: and just having their trash can sit out the whole.
- 44:05Speaker 1: That is a red flag that you're not home, by
- 44:07Speaker 1: the way, for those people that don't know.
- 44:09Speaker 4: Thank you. That's exactly what I mean, where he was like, dude,
- 44:12Speaker 4: he was like, I got you, man. He was like...
- 44:14Speaker 4: So we always put something out there for him, yeah,
- 44:16Speaker 4: all the time, but... Every here and there, I'll set
- 44:18Speaker 4: something out there if I don't see them come by.
- 44:20Speaker 4: Because sometimes they come by early. Sometimes they come by late.
- 44:22Speaker 4: You know what I mean? But, yeah, I know. I
- 44:25Speaker 4: don't care what anybody said, what you want to say
- 44:27Speaker 4: about me, but you earn your tips with me. I
- 44:29Speaker 4: don't care. If I go to a server and she
- 44:31Speaker 4: don't take care of me and my family or just
- 44:33Speaker 4: me and my people, I ain't going to give you
- 44:35Speaker 4: that much love.
- 44:36Speaker 1: You know what I mean?
- 44:37Speaker 4: You're taking care of us, and you got this. All right, Ruben.
- 44:41Speaker 4: You earn your tips.
- 44:42Speaker 1: All right, brother. And that's the point. The point is
- 44:44Speaker 1: if you go above and beyond in whatever capacity.
- 44:48Speaker 2: Then, yeah, you might want to break somebody off a
- 44:49Speaker 2: little something. That's just, you know, that's just the right
- 44:52Speaker 2: thing to do. But I will tell you guys this
- 44:54Speaker 2: about the trash cans. Because I know people who go
- 44:58Speaker 2: out of town, my neighbors will do it, and they'll
- 45:00Speaker 2: leave their trash cans out all weekend or all week.
- 45:03Speaker 2: And you sit there and you go, yep, that's a
- 45:05Speaker 2: red flag. Those are the people you can rob because
- 45:07Speaker 2: they're not home.
- 45:08Speaker 1: What's going on?
- 45:09Speaker 3: Good morning, Romeo.
- 45:11Speaker 1: Hey, what's going on?
- 45:12Speaker 3: I'm listening to you talk about tipping, right?
- 45:15Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 45:16Speaker 3: I also agree with, you know, the convenience. Like, how
- 45:20Speaker 3: you convenient me is how you're getting tipped, right?
- 45:23Speaker 2: Sure.
- 45:23Speaker 3: And how great it is that, like, the convenience fee
- 45:28Speaker 3: that they charge, crap. Like, what? What do you mean
- 45:32Speaker 3: you're charging me an extra $ 50 for nothing?
- 45:34Speaker 1: I've never seen that. I don't know what that.
- 45:36Speaker 3: And it's not just concerts. It's not just concerts. It's not...
- 45:40Speaker 3: It's mainly, like, any type of event that you have
- 45:42Speaker 3: to buy tickets online for. Like, some of the events
- 45:45Speaker 3: here in town, like... I think Village Fest, there might
- 45:51Speaker 3: be like a $ 6 convenience fee, something like that. There
- 45:54Speaker 3: are conveniences for like.
- 45:55Speaker 2: Is it a fee for a processing fee or what's
- 46:00Speaker 2: a convenience fee?
- 46:01Speaker 1: I don't understand what that is.
- 46:02Speaker 3: Literally, I don't either. It literally says convenience fee. I
- 46:07Speaker 3: just bought some tickets to a concert on Friday. Convenience fee, $ 75. Like, okay, well,
- 46:13Speaker 3: what was the convenience that you didn't have to do anything?
- 46:16Speaker 1: How much were the tickets?
- 46:18Speaker 4: They were $ 480.
- 46:18Speaker 3: My God, girl, how.
- 46:20Speaker 1: Much money you got?
- 46:22Speaker 9: I got money.
- 46:23Speaker 1: I'm single now.
- 46:25Speaker 4: I got money.
- 46:26Speaker 2: I'm going through a divorce.
- 46:27Speaker 3: I don't got to worry about taking care of a
- 46:29Speaker 3: grown-ass man.
- 46:31Speaker 7: I'm single.
- 46:32Speaker 3: Hit me up. And I'm fine as hell, okay?
- 46:36Speaker 1: Do not say that on my radio show.
- 46:39Speaker 2: You know how many idiots are going to be, hey, Rome,
- 46:41Speaker 2: get her number, get her picture.
- 46:43Speaker 1: I don't need that headache this morning.
- 46:45Speaker 4: You know what?
- 46:47Speaker 3: Romeo, get that headache for me, okay? I'm trying to
- 46:50Speaker 3: go to steak dinner. I like flowers, okay? I got
- 46:53Speaker 3: my own money. I work hard. I'm fine, you know? Anyway, listen,
- 46:59Speaker 3: back to the topic.
- 47:00Speaker 5: Okay.
- 47:01Speaker 3: I lost what I was going to say. Jesus. I'm so,
- 47:04Speaker 3: I was just thinking about myself.
- 47:05Speaker 7: Sure.
- 47:06Speaker 9: I get it.
- 47:06Speaker 4: I get it.
- 47:07Speaker 1: That's wild. I never heard of a convenience. But okay.
- 47:10Speaker 1: Thanks for calling.
- 47:11Speaker 4: Oh, wait, wait, wait.
- 47:12Speaker 3: You know what I was going to say?
- 47:14Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 47:14Speaker 3: Is I hate when we go to the, like when
- 47:16Speaker 3: you go to a restaurant, right? And it's like a
- 47:18Speaker 3: party of six or more. And automatically you're getting a
- 47:22Speaker 3: charge for a party of six or more. Mind that,
- 47:27Speaker 3: you know, if there's a big party and you're like
- 47:29Speaker 3: waiting on me and I don't have to sit there
- 47:31Speaker 3: and ask for a refill and I don't have to
- 47:33Speaker 3: sit there and ask for extra salsa.
- 47:35Speaker 4: You know what I mean? Perfect.
- 47:36Speaker 3: What I can't stand is it's a it's a party
- 47:39Speaker 3: of like six. seven of us were all getting charged gratuity,
- 47:43Speaker 3: but we see one time.
- 47:45Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 47:45Speaker 3: We don't have any. So I can't stand that. Like
- 47:49Speaker 3: that right there. Anyways.
- 47:51Speaker 1: Yeah, no, I've had that. I've had that happen to
- 47:53Speaker 1: me before. And I thought the same thing.
- 47:54Speaker 2: There's 20 of us or 10 of us and you
- 47:56Speaker 2: guys know you're getting tips.
- 47:58Speaker 1: So you treat us terribly.
- 47:59Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 47:59Speaker 1: I've had that happen.
- 48:00Speaker 9: I can't stand that part.
- 48:01Speaker 3: I can't stand that. I'm like, what, what sense does
- 48:03Speaker 3: that make you pretty much? And mind you, sometimes there's
- 48:06Speaker 3: multiple waiters.
- 48:07Speaker 4: And we don't see.
- 48:08Speaker 2: Either one of them.
- 48:09Speaker 4: So anyway, that's all I.
- 48:11Speaker 3: Was getting to before we started talking about me.
- 48:13Speaker 7: That's all right.
- 48:13Speaker 1: That's all right. Well, good luck finding that steak dinner.
- 48:15Speaker 1: I hope it works out for you.
- 48:17Speaker 3: I buy my own steak dinner, but it doesn't hurt
- 48:19Speaker 3: to have somebody come, you know?
- 48:21Speaker 2: See, don't be like that. That's probably why you got divorced.
- 48:25Speaker 3: Why would you want to buy your own steak dinner?
- 48:29Speaker 1: Well, why would you want to buy your own steak
- 48:30Speaker 1: dinner if you don't have to?
- 48:32Speaker 3: Because I don't mind doing it. It would be nice
- 48:34Speaker 3: to have somebody buy it, but I don't mind buying
- 48:37Speaker 3: my own steak dinner.
- 48:38Speaker 4: Okay.
- 48:38Speaker 1: Okay. See, that's why you're getting the horse. All right.
- 48:44Speaker 1: What's going on?
- 48:45Speaker 4: Hey, Romeo, this is Rated Dave.
- 48:46Speaker 1: What up, Rated Dave?
- 48:48Speaker 7: Hey, I just wanted to say, you know, on 5-11,
- 48:50Speaker 7: I got a nice tan. If that lady's listening, the
- 48:53Speaker 7: last caller, you want to maybe slide her my number
- 48:57Speaker 7: in the DMs?
- 48:58Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, no.
- 49:00Speaker 4: We have something in common. We both don't like that
- 49:03Speaker 4: convenience fee. Maybe I have to help her out with it.
- 49:07Speaker 2: Yeah, but she's willing to pay for a steak dinner.
- 49:09Speaker 1: You're not.
- 49:10Speaker 4: Well, she can pay for my steak dinner.
- 49:12Speaker 7: I'm telling you, I'm very funny.
- 49:16Speaker 4: I can keep her company. Let her know. I'll let
- 49:18Speaker 4: her know.
- 49:20Speaker 2: I'll send her your way. About the dumbest thing any
- 49:26Speaker 2: of you women can do is call this show and
- 49:29Speaker 2: say you're hot and you got your own money. Every
- 49:32Speaker 2: loser out there who wants to take advantage of you will.
- 49:36Speaker 1: You don't want a man.
- 49:38Speaker 2: Any man That's going to call and try to hit
- 49:42Speaker 2: on you through my show?
- 49:44Speaker 1: Yeah, you don't want that, man.
- 49:45Speaker 2: Yeah, I still never heard of a convenience fee, but
- 49:50Speaker 2: that's all right.
- 49:51Speaker 1: I don't know what that is. But maybe I should.
- 49:53Speaker 1: Maybe I've been paying a convenience fee. I don't even
- 49:54Speaker 1: know what it is. I didn't even know I was
- 49:56Speaker 1: paying it, right? R-A-4-2-5-4-7-7.
- 49:58Speaker 2: We're talking about tipping. It says, hey, Rome, if anyone
- 50:02Speaker 2: disagrees with you, they are not the smartest person. Hey, Rome,
- 50:08Speaker 2: it's outrageous when it comes to tips, man. Good service
- 50:11Speaker 2: will receive tips without asking. Oh, in the U.S., overseas
- 50:17Speaker 2: countries don't ask for tips. and some places won't receive them.
- 50:21Speaker 1: Oh, I didn't know that. That's interesting. Hey, good morning, Rome.
- 50:24Speaker 1: I tip accordingly.
- 50:26Speaker 2: Normally 20% at a restaurant, my barber, $ 20. The latest
- 50:33Speaker 2: thing about tipping is companies are charging wrong, thinking you
- 50:37Speaker 2: won't notice.
- 50:38Speaker 1: I've heard about this before.
- 50:42Speaker 2: You've got to really pay attention to your bill because
- 50:44Speaker 2: these restaurants are trying to bamboozle you.
- 50:48Speaker 1: Went to a puzzle joint.
- 50:50Speaker 2: Computer said 15%, but the math was charging 20. Changed
- 50:55Speaker 2: it to 20%. Was adding up to 25. They think
- 50:58Speaker 2: people can't add on their own. I know what 20%
- 51:03Speaker 2: of 40 without.
- 51:03Speaker 1: Having to use a calculator. A lot of people don't, though.
- 51:06Speaker 2: I mean, I even fall guilty to some things. I mean,
- 51:10Speaker 2: there are times that I will go to a place,
- 51:13Speaker 2: and I won't even look at the bill. I'll just
- 51:15Speaker 2: hand them my card. Or, you know, and because, you know,
- 51:20Speaker 2: I'm just trying to get it paid. So there are
- 51:22Speaker 2: times that I don't even pay attention. But now I
- 51:23Speaker 2: guess you really do have to pay attention when you
- 51:26Speaker 2: go somewhere.
- 51:28Speaker 1: A-Rome, lately there are no.
- 51:30Speaker 2: Above and beyond service. Yeah, I kind of agree with
- 51:33Speaker 2: you on that. There's not a lot of.
- 51:36Speaker 1: Exceptional service out there.
- 51:38Speaker 2: Yo, Rome, tip a good bartender, tip a good waitress,
- 51:41Speaker 2: and tip the girl at Starbucks handling your coffee. Handing
- 51:48Speaker 2: you your coffee. Oh, don't tip the girl at Starbucks. Yeah,
- 51:52Speaker 2: I wouldn't. I mean, I'm still pretty traditional. I tip
- 51:56Speaker 2: for service above and beyond, you know? And yeah, above
- 52:04Speaker 2: and beyond service is what tipping normally is. 34-254-77. Hey, Rome,
- 52:13Speaker 2: one time I went through one of these drive-thru places,
- 52:16Speaker 2: ordered my food. They told me a specific total saying
- 52:21Speaker 2: that everything plus tax.
- 52:23Speaker 1: I said, cool. Drive up to the window, charge my card.
- 52:27Speaker 1: They said, do you want a receipt? I said, no.
- 52:30Speaker 2: I drive off, my phone goes off, and they tipped
- 52:32Speaker 2: themselves 19. I was also heated. I was so heated
- 52:37Speaker 2: from now on. I ask for a receipt because they
- 52:39Speaker 2: can't do that if you ask for a receipt because
- 52:44Speaker 2: it locks in your total. But I guess when you
- 52:47Speaker 2: don't ask for a receipt, they could do that. I
- 52:51Speaker 2: always ask for a receipt only because I want them
- 52:54Speaker 2: to know that I'm watching what I'm getting. You know,
- 52:56Speaker 2: I don't trust. How do you return anything nowadays if
- 52:59Speaker 2: you don't have a receipt, by the way? How do
- 53:01Speaker 2: you deal with problems? You have your phone, I guess.
- 53:04Speaker 2: Maybe receipts go to your phone.
- 53:06Speaker 1: All right. When it comes to the tipping. Hey, Rome.
- 53:08Speaker 1: Let's see here. Hey, good morning, Rome.
- 53:10Speaker 2: I went to Chili's in Ventura and the waitress put
- 53:13Speaker 2: an 18% tip for herself. And when she charged me,
- 53:17Speaker 2: I didn't look at the bill, just paid her machine
- 53:20Speaker 2: and still left a $ 15 cash tip.
- 53:23Speaker 1: She got me.
- 53:24Speaker 2: I was not happy. Almost $ 30 tip. By the way,
- 53:27Speaker 2: my food bill was $ 110. Yeah, you got to watch out.
- 53:30Speaker 1: These people are sneaky, man.
- 53:31Speaker 2: I mean, there's a lot of shenanigans. They're trying to
- 53:36Speaker 2: nickel and dime you, you know, with a service fee,
- 53:39Speaker 2: convenience fee, an indoor dining.
- 53:41Speaker 1: Fee, things like that. So you got to be careful
- 53:43Speaker 1: what you do, man.
- 53:44Speaker 2: I wasn't going to text today, but you said, but
- 53:49Speaker 2: what did I say?
- 53:50Speaker 1: Oh, good morning, Rome.
- 53:52Speaker 2: I was just in 7-Eleven, and they have a tip
- 53:54Speaker 2: jar at the cash register, and they ask to round
- 53:57Speaker 2: off to donate to who knows what.
- 54:00Speaker 1: Yeah, I get it. You just got to pay attention, man.
- 54:04Speaker 2: Hey, you oven cheese fan, I leave an ice chest
- 54:07Speaker 2: in front of the house.
- 54:08Speaker 1: For the delivery drivers, waters, sodas, Gatorades. That's nice of you.
- 54:11Speaker 1: I mean, that's nice of you.
- 54:13Speaker 2: I think when it comes to tipping, it just has
- 54:16Speaker 2: to be something above and beyond, right?
- 54:18Speaker 1: If somebody goes above and beyond to give.
- 54:20Speaker 2: You service, Because that's kind of what it is, right? Traditionally,
- 54:29Speaker 2: when you go out, you want to be catered to.
- 54:33Speaker 2: That's why you're going out. That's why you're not sitting
- 54:35Speaker 2: at home making dinner yourself. So traditionally, tipping somebody to
- 54:41Speaker 2: quote-unquote cater to you is nothing wrong with that. Now,
- 54:46Speaker 2: to the level of how they cater to you should
- 54:50Speaker 2: determine how much you spend.
- 54:53Speaker 1: Let's see here. Get her number, Rome. Oh, you guys
- 54:56Speaker 1: still trying to get the girl who can take care
- 54:59Speaker 1: of herself? The girl who.
- 55:02Speaker 2: Called up was getting divorced? Or she got her money?
- 55:05Speaker 2: I wonder how much she's getting out of that divorce.
- 55:07Speaker 2: I guess I should have asked her that to find out.
- 55:09Speaker 2: Is it her money or is it his money that
- 55:12Speaker 2: she's getting by getting divorced? There's a lot of women
- 55:16Speaker 2: that get divorced and starting to claim that's their money.
- 55:19Speaker 1: No, you took a man's money, okay? Just be honest
- 55:21Speaker 1: about it. Hey, Rome, she's fine.
- 55:24Speaker 2: Probably the biggest Thornton Bakersfield. Only Thorntons say they're fine.
- 55:28Speaker 2: The fine ones don't say anything.
- 55:30Speaker 6: Okay.
- 55:32Speaker 1: I'll let her know.
- 55:33Speaker 2: We were talking about tipping, but now I guess these
- 55:34Speaker 2: guys want to talk about this woman who's going through
- 55:36Speaker 2: a divorce. Hey, what up, Rome? Can you tell that
- 55:40Speaker 2: divorcee that I have two felonies, just moved out of
- 55:45Speaker 2: my mom's, car registered is backed up two years, car
- 55:48Speaker 2: registration is backed up two years, owed child support for
- 55:51Speaker 2: 15 years. From 15 years ago? I know how these
- 55:56Speaker 2: beggars who are women love a man with a good record.
- 55:58Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 56:03Speaker 2: I do think she should stop telling everybody, the divorcee
- 56:05Speaker 2: woman who called, she should stop telling everybody that she
- 56:08Speaker 2: has money. Just, yeah, don't say that because you're going
- 56:13Speaker 2: to bring out a lot of the bad element, a
- 56:14Speaker 2: lot of guys that, you know, a lot of losers. Hey, yo,
- 56:18Speaker 2: Roma servers, I tip well if they give me a
- 56:20Speaker 2: good experience. Do they have a smile? So they have, uh,
- 56:24Speaker 2: they have a walk by jokes. Girls are, are, are
- 56:27Speaker 2: really funny to give me good experience. Every time I
- 56:30Speaker 2: go to the point, uh, where I'm requiring a specific
- 56:33Speaker 2: service server, you got, uh, a good time. You got
- 56:38Speaker 2: a good time regardless of what I spent. But if
- 56:40Speaker 2: you're an average server checking in as you should, because there's.
- 56:43Speaker 1: Still a job, it's still your job. You'll tip.
- 56:47Speaker 2: Uh, if I have a few bucks, if I don't
- 56:48Speaker 2: have anything, um, Ain't sweating leaving the table with nothing.
- 56:54Speaker 2: I get it.
- 56:55Speaker 1: I get it.
- 56:56Speaker 2: I mean, a lot of the places I go, though,
- 56:59Speaker 2: nowadays when it comes to, like, I go to the
- 57:01Speaker 2: same places.
- 57:02Speaker 1: So I know the servers. I know the bartenders.
- 57:04Speaker 2: And they do a great job. So I don't really
- 57:06Speaker 2: have to worry about.
- 57:07Speaker 4: Any of that.
- 57:07Speaker 2: But I get what you're saying. Someone said, why would
- 57:12Speaker 2: you tip at Subway? We made the sandwich together. Kind
- 57:18Speaker 2: of did, huh?
- 57:20Speaker 1: Hey, Rome.
- 57:21Speaker 2: I've been, let's see, places where even the cashier seems
- 57:25Speaker 2: embarrassed that the tip screen pops up, that they automatically
- 57:29Speaker 2: just not tip for you. I feel like on those platforms,
- 57:32Speaker 2: the tipping is a default, and you can tell they're
- 57:35Speaker 2: getting irritated because they already know the customer's not going
- 57:38Speaker 2: to tip.
- 57:39Speaker 1: Yeah, I get that. I've seen that happen a time
- 57:41Speaker 1: or two as well.
- 57:42Speaker 2: And, you know.
- 57:44Speaker 4: All right.
- 57:44Speaker 1: Good morning, Al. What's going on?
- 57:45Speaker 6: Hey, Rome.
- 57:46Speaker 4: What up, man? One time I tipped my barber. Now
- 57:49Speaker 4: she gets my whole paycheck.
- 57:52Speaker 1: All right.
- 57:59Speaker 2: Sounds like you gave the wrong tip, bro.
- 58:01Speaker 4: Oh, man.
- 58:02Speaker 1: All right. Eight, four, two, five, four, seven. I will
- 58:09Speaker 1: tell you this, though.
- 58:10Speaker 2: When it comes to tipping, I've always kind of wondered this.
- 58:15Speaker 2: These hairstylists and these barbers, Now, I don't know if
- 58:20Speaker 2: barbers make the same money, but I know some of
- 58:24Speaker 2: these hairstylists make some real legitimate cash outside of the tips.
- 58:29Speaker 2: And I don't know if barbers do the same. I'm
- 58:31Speaker 2: not really sure. But I do wonder, because it is
- 58:37Speaker 2: kind of a traditional societal thing to tip your barbers
- 58:44Speaker 2: or your hairstylists. And I do always kind of wonder.
- 58:48Speaker 2: If you really should be tipping them some of them
- 58:50Speaker 2: based on how much money they actually make.
- 58:52Speaker 1: All right.
- 58:53Speaker 2: Four, two, five, four, seven to seven. Does that come
- 58:55Speaker 2: into any play? Do you tip somebody who makes a
- 58:57Speaker 2: lot of money?
- 58:58Speaker 1: You know, I don't know. Where are we at here?
- 59:03Speaker 1: Let's see here. I got a whole bunch of text
- 59:05Speaker 1: messages to get to.
- 59:09Speaker 4: All right.
- 59:09Speaker 1: Hey, Rome. Good morning.
- 59:11Speaker 2: There is one restaurant that really bothered me here in
- 59:15Speaker 2: Bakersfield downtown.
- 59:16Speaker 1: I don't remember the name.
- 59:18Speaker 2: I took my son there for lunch, and they automatically
- 59:21Speaker 2: added 20% tipping onto the bill. I had no choice.
- 59:25Speaker 2: And when I asked about it, I was asked about it.
- 59:29Speaker 2: They said that's what they do. I don't think they
- 59:32Speaker 2: can do that, honestly. I think, I want to say
- 59:37Speaker 2: that I could be totally wrong. I want to say
- 59:39Speaker 2: I was at a restaurant one time where they added
- 59:42Speaker 2: that and the person I was with told them, no,
- 59:45Speaker 2: they're not paying it.
- 59:46Speaker 1: And they took it off the bill.
- 59:47Speaker 2: I want to say that, but I'm not positive. I'm
- 59:50Speaker 2: not sure actually what a restaurant can charge you outside
- 59:55Speaker 2: of the cost of the food. I'm not actually sure
- 59:58Speaker 2: what they can, but I don't think they can make
- 1:00:00Speaker 2: you tip.
- 1:00:01Speaker 1: That is not legal. I don't believe.
- 1:00:04Speaker 2: Now, when you say the service fee or indoor fee
- 1:00:08Speaker 2: or seating fee, I don't know if those are legitimate
- 1:00:10Speaker 2: or not. I just don't know. Already 4254, 7 to 7.
- 1:00:15Speaker 2: But what are they going to.
- 1:00:15Speaker 1: Do if you don't pay?
- 1:00:16Speaker 2: Call the cops?
- 1:00:17Speaker 1: We were talking about temping. Hey, Rome. Good morning. So
- 1:00:22Speaker 1: I have a cousin who used.
- 1:00:23Speaker 2: To work in that type of industry. She actually told
- 1:00:26Speaker 2: me that the reason they want tips like that is
- 1:00:29Speaker 2: because when they go file their tax, whether they get
- 1:00:32Speaker 2: tips or not, they're actually taxed on what they should
- 1:00:36Speaker 2: get tip based on their incomes.
- 1:00:39Speaker 1: I've heard that before. But you know what? Unfortunately, life's
- 1:00:44Speaker 1: not fair.
- 1:00:44Speaker 2: So you can't just expect something without giving a service
- 1:00:49Speaker 2: for it.
- 1:00:49Speaker 1: And that's the problem.
- 1:00:51Speaker 2: I don't think the problem is really the money because
- 1:00:53Speaker 2: for most people, they understand the social etiquette to go.
- 1:00:59Speaker 1: Out to spend money. You're going to tip.
- 1:01:01Speaker 2: But when you get entitled people that act like they
- 1:01:06Speaker 2: deserve it, that's when you start.
- 1:01:08Speaker 1: To get into the problems.
- 1:01:10Speaker 2: Hey, Rome, I don't tip ever. My friends think I'm cheap.
- 1:01:13Speaker 2: I tell them that that's their job. I don't even
- 1:01:16Speaker 2: tip when I get my nails done, only when I
- 1:01:18Speaker 2: get pedicures with massages. But I don't tip when I
- 1:01:23Speaker 2: go do my hair. I hate fast food.
- 1:01:27Speaker 1: They be asking for tips.
- 1:01:28Speaker 2: That's your job, even the waitress, unless they go above
- 1:01:31Speaker 2: and beyond for their service.
- 1:01:34Speaker 1: Okay.
- 1:01:35Speaker 6: Okay.
- 1:01:36Speaker 1: Hey, good morning, Rome. Nighter Nick.
- 1:01:38Speaker 2: Hey, we should go by the station and tip you
- 1:01:41Speaker 2: for always doing An amazing job. Also, are you still
- 1:01:45Speaker 2: giving away Universal Studio tickets?
- 1:01:47Speaker 1: Thanks, Rome.
- 1:01:47Speaker 2: No, I don't have any Universal Studio tickets. Yeah.
- 1:01:54Speaker 1: What did you say?
- 1:01:56Speaker 2: Silent appointments should be offered everywhere. I'd tip too.
- 1:01:59Speaker 1: What that means. Here's a few tips. Pay, get close
- 1:02:05Speaker 1: to God.
- 1:02:05Speaker 6: Okay.
- 1:02:07Speaker 2: Wow.
- 1:02:08Speaker 1: Hey, Rome.
- 1:02:08Speaker 2: I have to say, when it comes to fast food,
- 1:02:12Speaker 2: Long John Silver has, by far, the best customer service.
- 1:02:15Speaker 1: I go, never fails. Dine in. Maybe that's why it's
- 1:02:19Speaker 1: in Bakersfield.
- 1:02:21Speaker 2: Okay.
- 1:02:22Speaker 1: What have we got here? So, Romeo. I've been... Let's see.
- 1:02:29Speaker 2: I've had my barber ever since before his first barber show.
- 1:02:34Speaker 1: I'd give him a 20. Today... His day, his tips.
- 1:02:39Speaker 2: Even with the giving him 35, but 35, I couldn't.
- 1:02:47Speaker 2: He got all weird with me and messing me up.
- 1:02:49Speaker 2: Something was wrong because I stopped tipping. I let him
- 1:02:52Speaker 2: know his raising depleted his tips. It's expensive already for
- 1:02:57Speaker 2: a tip. I can see new barbecues, but we good.
- 1:03:03Speaker 2: But yeah, it's crazy. I told him, change me 15,
- 1:03:06Speaker 2: he'll get a $ 15 tip.
- 1:03:08Speaker 1: He's always got his house and cars. He don't report
- 1:03:14Speaker 1: more sound to me. I will say this.
- 1:03:17Speaker 2: There is a gray area when it comes to that.
- 1:03:19Speaker 2: When it comes to tipping, I do want to say this, though,
- 1:03:22Speaker 2: about the barbers. And I don't know, but I do
- 1:03:25Speaker 2: know a couple of guys that own some businesses. And
- 1:03:29Speaker 2: They know how to manipulate the system when it comes
- 1:03:32Speaker 2: to cash and what's run through a regimen. It's calculated
- 1:03:35Speaker 2: and not. So I don't know if barbers, some of
- 1:03:38Speaker 2: these hairstylists, I don't know. So they may be overcharging
- 1:03:43Speaker 2: you and making it seem like, but you know, costs
- 1:03:46Speaker 2: do go up there. Their cost of doing business goes up,
- 1:03:49Speaker 2: you know, their hair products. Although I'm trying to think
- 1:03:52Speaker 2: when I go to my barber, what does he use? Water, water, scissors,
- 1:03:57Speaker 2: and clippers, I think is all he uses. So, If
- 1:04:01Speaker 2: I'm just the simplest version of getting, at what point
- 1:04:05Speaker 2: are his clippers and his scissors already paid for and
- 1:04:08Speaker 2: it's just all profit?
- 1:04:09Speaker 1: So I don't know. I don't know.
- 1:04:13Speaker 2: Hey, Rome, same thing happened to me at the Hard
- 1:04:16Speaker 2: Rock opening week. We paid some cash. We paid some
- 1:04:20Speaker 2: cash and the rest on the card, but the server
- 1:04:23Speaker 2: pocketed the cash and charged it all on the card.
- 1:04:26Speaker 2: We asked to speak to a manager and the server
- 1:04:29Speaker 2: acted dumb. Yes, I've seen that before. You've got to
- 1:04:32Speaker 2: be very specific. I've had that happen before. I've had
- 1:04:37Speaker 2: the server ask me, what's cash and what's not?
- 1:04:40Speaker 1: What's mine and what's not?
- 1:04:41Speaker 2: Hey, Rome, I forgot to close my tab one time,
- 1:04:45Speaker 2: and then I saw the charge was a little outrageous,
- 1:04:49Speaker 2: so I went in to see what happened, and because
- 1:04:51Speaker 2: they forgot to close your tab, I think you automatically
- 1:04:54Speaker 2: chose the 20% tip option. Now that I think about it,
- 1:05:00Speaker 2: I should have disputed that charge. I don't know how
- 1:05:03Speaker 2: that works. I think I've seen a sign that says
- 1:05:05Speaker 2: that before, by the way. I think I've been in
- 1:05:08Speaker 2: a bar or restaurant or something that said if you
- 1:05:10Speaker 2: leave your card, there will be a surcharge or something
- 1:05:13Speaker 2: like that. I don't know how legal that is. But
- 1:05:17Speaker 2: I know, I just don't know. Hey, Romeo, I'm the husband.
- 1:05:22Speaker 2: Trust me. She ain't getting, you know what? Advice, guys,
- 1:05:26Speaker 2: save yourselves a headache. What are you talking about?
- 1:05:30Speaker 1: One who's fine? I don't know what you're talking about.
- 1:05:33Speaker 2: Hey, Rome and barbering, you're tipping for the craftsmanship regardless
- 1:05:39Speaker 2: of how much they make in a weekly basis. I mean,
- 1:05:45Speaker 2: that might be a little bit of a stretch.
- 1:05:47Speaker 1: I'm just going to say that.
- 1:05:48Speaker 2: You guys, I do know that some of these barbers
- 1:05:53Speaker 2: think pretty highly of themselves. I don't know when that became...
- 1:05:56Speaker 2: When these barbers, you know, started acting like they were
- 1:05:58Speaker 2: doing something, you know, as you say, the craftsmanship of them.
- 1:06:03Speaker 2: Because how long have you been getting your hair cut?
- 1:06:04Speaker 2: I know dudes that'll do it out of your garage.
- 1:06:06Speaker 2: I know dudes that can cut hair out of a garage,
- 1:06:08Speaker 2: you know, just as well as some of these barbers.
- 1:06:10Speaker 2: So these barbers might be getting full of themselves.
- 1:06:13Speaker 1: I get it.
- 1:06:14Speaker 2: You know, they're full of themselves thinking that they're doing something.
- 1:06:18Speaker 1: But craftsmanship? Maybe. What did you send me here? Hey, Rome. It's,
- 1:06:25Speaker 1: you know, oh.
- 1:06:29Speaker 2: The people that texted me this, I know them. I
- 1:06:31Speaker 2: know there are, yeah, I know them and I know
- 1:06:35Speaker 2: their family. Okay, so he's texting me. The guy's texting me. Hey, Rome,
- 1:06:38Speaker 2: you know me and my wife and my daughter, blah, blah, blah.
- 1:06:43Speaker 2: And he tells me who they are, but I'm not
- 1:06:45Speaker 2: going to tell you. He goes, Rome, I was hoping
- 1:06:47Speaker 2: you can give me some advice. So check this out.
- 1:06:51Speaker 2: My wife and I, you know, you know, so-and-so went to,
- 1:06:56Speaker 2: and I'm leaving out their names, by the way. You know,
- 1:06:58Speaker 2: so-and-so went to college this year. So she's been gone
- 1:07:00Speaker 2: for a couple of weeks. She's staying in the dorms. Well,
- 1:07:03Speaker 2: with Labor Day weekend coming up, I told my wife,
- 1:07:05Speaker 2: let's go visit her. And my wife said, you need
- 1:07:08Speaker 2: to call her and ask what she's doing, what her
- 1:07:11Speaker 2: plans are since she's now on her own.
- 1:07:16Speaker 1: Rome, you know me.
- 1:07:18Speaker 2: Yeah, I do know you. So if I know you
- 1:07:22Speaker 2: and you know me or whatever, why are we having
- 1:07:24Speaker 2: this conversation? You want me just to embarrass your wife
- 1:07:28Speaker 2: on the radio? I mean, is that what you're.
- 1:07:29Speaker 1: Trying to do? Because it sounds like it. You know me, Rome.
- 1:07:32Speaker 2: I want to see my daughter. My wife tells me
- 1:07:34Speaker 2: I need to consider her and what her plans are.
- 1:07:36Speaker 2: What do you think, Rome? Hell no, you don't consider.
- 1:07:40Speaker 2: They're paying for it, okay? Hell no, you don't consider your.
- 1:07:46Speaker 2: Your daughter's, what her plans are. Bro, you're paying, she's
- 1:07:53Speaker 2: not out on her own. She's in a college dorm
- 1:07:55Speaker 2: right now. You go, if you want to leave on
- 1:07:58Speaker 2: Friday and you want to stay through Labor Day, you
- 1:08:00Speaker 2: take your butt over there and to hell with what
- 1:08:02Speaker 2: your daughter think, okay? She can rearrange her schedule for
- 1:08:06Speaker 2: you and your wife. And if your wife don't want
- 1:08:09Speaker 2: to go because she cares, go by yourself. But she's
- 1:08:13Speaker 2: not out on her own.
- 1:08:14Speaker 1: Come on now. R-D-4-2-5-4-7-7. So you want my opinion? In fact,
- 1:08:20Speaker 1: I'll go with you. You want me to go with you?
- 1:08:22Speaker 1: I'll go with you. Yeah, hell no.
- 1:08:26Speaker 4: No.
- 1:08:27Speaker 1: She's not.
- 1:08:28Speaker 2: You're paying for her to live in a dorm and
- 1:08:30Speaker 2: have the college life. You go visit whenever you want.
- 1:08:34Speaker 2: You don't need to take her plan. She ain't in
- 1:08:36Speaker 2: class because it's Labor Day weekend. She can't go nowhere.
- 1:08:41Speaker 2: So hell no, you go. You go whenever you want
- 1:08:43Speaker 2: to see your kid.
- 1:08:44Speaker 1: All right? What's going on?
- 1:08:46Speaker 4: Hey, Romeo, quick question. Yeah. The app has froze for me.
- 1:08:49Speaker 4: Did you drop the second letter already?
- 1:08:51Speaker 1: Uh, probably. Oh, s * * *. Hey, don't cuss.
- 1:08:59Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 1:09:00Speaker 1: What it was. When did we drop the letters? You guys, okay,
- 1:09:03Speaker 1: it was K.
- 1:09:04Speaker 2: Well, that was the K at eight.
- 1:09:11Speaker 4: Oh, okay, sorry.
- 1:09:13Speaker 1: Sounds like you got it. All right.
- 1:09:17Speaker 4: Okay, thank you.
- 1:09:19Speaker 1: Yo, what's going on?
- 1:09:21Speaker 9: Good morning, Romeo.
- 1:09:22Speaker 1: Hey, what's up?
- 1:09:23Speaker 9: So I know you're the smartest man in Bakersfield, so
- 1:09:26Speaker 9: I need your opinion.
- 1:09:27Speaker 1: Okay, what's up?
- 1:09:29Speaker 9: Okay, so tomorrow is my birthday. I'm a NOC shift worker,
- 1:09:33Speaker 9: and I want to take off tonight to go to
- 1:09:35Speaker 9: the beach and then call in tomorrow to sit.
- 1:09:39Speaker 7: Should I do it?
- 1:09:40Speaker 1: How old are you? 46.
- 1:09:41Speaker 9: I already used all my PTO and six fucking.
- 1:09:44Speaker 2: Wait, tomorrow's going to be your 47th birthday or 46th birthday?
- 1:09:48Speaker 3: It's actually going to be my 46th birthday.
- 1:09:50Speaker 1: It's not a real birthday.
- 1:09:52Speaker 2: Come on.
- 1:09:52Speaker 1: Wait till 50. What is wrong with you?
- 1:09:54Speaker 9: I'm going to make it to 50.
- 1:09:56Speaker 2: Oh, you'll make it till 50.
- 1:09:59Speaker 1: What are you going to do at 46?
- 1:10:01Speaker 9: I'm actually going to party on Friday with my friends,
- 1:10:06Speaker 9: but I wanted to.
- 1:10:07Speaker 1: Just I'm going to just tell you one thing, okay?
- 1:10:11Speaker 2: 46 is not a real birthday, and one time I
- 1:10:15Speaker 2: did something like that to go see Prince perform, and
- 1:10:17Speaker 2: I lost my job the next day.
- 1:10:22Speaker 9: If I use my sick time, then they really can't
- 1:10:26Speaker 9: offer you.
- 1:10:27Speaker 1: Wait, you have sick time?
- 1:10:30Speaker 9: I have one day of sick time, just one.
- 1:10:32Speaker 2: Oh, hell yeah, use it. I think people should use
- 1:10:35Speaker 2: all their sick time. You know that I have sick
- 1:10:38Speaker 2: time here at the radio station? I didn't even know
- 1:10:40Speaker 2: I had, so I got like 15 years of sick
- 1:10:42Speaker 2: time that I never use because I never call in sick.
- 1:10:44Speaker 4: Oh, yeah.
- 1:10:45Speaker 1: Lose all your.
- 1:10:48Speaker 9: Use it all, man.
- 1:10:50Speaker 1: And what did you say you did for... Where did
- 1:10:51Speaker 1: you work at? Oh, don't tell nobody.
- 1:10:53Speaker 4: Never mind.
- 1:10:53Speaker 1: Don't tell nobody.
- 1:10:55Speaker 9: Yes, I'm a knock shift worker.
- 1:10:56Speaker 4: That's all. Oh, yeah.
- 1:10:57Speaker 1: Call and say, if you got the time, it's your time.
- 1:11:01Speaker 1: I'm all for it.
- 1:11:02Speaker 9: Yeah, I think I might do it.
- 1:11:04Speaker 2: But if you get fired, don't call me to pay
- 1:11:07Speaker 2: your bills later on, okay?
- 1:11:09Speaker 9: I'm going to say, Romeo said to do it.
- 1:11:14Speaker 1: All right.
- 1:11:15Speaker 6: Bye.
- 1:11:16Speaker 1: Hell no, don't do it, man. Your job's more important
- 1:11:19Speaker 1: than one day of partying.
- 1:11:21Speaker 2: Hey, Rome, tell Big Boy to just go leave his
- 1:11:25Speaker 2: wife behind.
- 1:11:25Speaker 1: I'm going to tell you.
- 1:11:27Speaker 2: Right now, the one person that always sees his kids
- 1:11:31Speaker 2: when he wants to and his kids will stop everything
- 1:11:35Speaker 2: they're doing to see is Big Boy.
- 1:11:36Speaker 8: 100%.
- 1:11:37Speaker 1: Hey, Rome, how are you going to get fired on
- 1:11:40Speaker 1: your day off? Yeah, I did get fired.
- 1:11:43Speaker 2: Yeah, I was transitioning anyways.
- 1:11:47Speaker 1: It was no big deal.
- 1:11:49Speaker 2: Hey, Rome.
- 1:11:51Speaker 1: She's 46 and calling into the radio. What a shame.
- 1:11:55Speaker 2: Asking for advice on missing work. Tell her to get
- 1:11:57Speaker 2: to work. First of all, why is that a shame?
- 1:12:01Speaker 1: I'm the best.
- 1:12:03Speaker 2: I am the best person to ask advice to. I
- 1:12:06Speaker 2: am really the one person in this town that you
- 1:12:10Speaker 2: should ask my opinion and my advice on how to
- 1:12:13Speaker 2: do it. Okay? Because I have no, you know... I
- 1:12:18Speaker 2: don't have a dog in your fight. I'm the most
- 1:12:20Speaker 2: unbiased person in Bakersfield.
- 1:12:24Speaker 4: You know?
- 1:12:25Speaker 1: So I would ask me everything.
- 1:12:28Speaker 2: But I do agree, 46 ain't even a real birthday, okay?
- 1:12:31Speaker 2: 46 is not a birthday you take off work for
- 1:12:33Speaker 2: to go celebrate. If there's a chance that you could
- 1:12:36Speaker 2: lose your job, then no.
- 1:12:37Speaker 1: But if you got sick time, you can call in sick.
- 1:12:41Speaker 1: Why not? But 46 ain't a real birthday. Romeo in
- 1:12:45Speaker 1: the morning.
- 1:12:46Speaker 7: Every morning.
- 1:12:46Speaker 8: On Hot 94.1.
